Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Per It's media podcast.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome to Meet Eater Trivia, the only game show where
- 0:13Speaker 2: conservation always wins. I'm your host, Spencer Newmart and today
- 0:17Speaker 2: we're joined by Brody Henderson, Giannis, Putellis Chester, Floyd Randall, Williams, Mackenzie,
- 0:22Speaker 2: elm Quince, Hansie Deschermeier and Logan Dove. This is a
- 0:26Speaker 2: ten round quiz show with questions from meat eaters four
- 0:29Speaker 2: verticals which are hunting, fishing, conservation and cooking, and there's
- 0:32Speaker 2: a prize. Meat Eater will donate five hundred dollars to
- 0:35Speaker 2: the conservation organization of the winners, choosing for the state
- 0:39Speaker 2: of the week. This week we're looking at average points
- 0:42Speaker 2: per game. You guys have a guest as to who
- 0:44Speaker 2: leads us an average points per game.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Brody Brody number one.
- 0:50Speaker 2: They're in agreement, that is Brody. The leaders are Randall
- 0:53Speaker 2: and Brody, who averaged six point seven points per game.
- 0:58Speaker 2: That's followed by Tony Peterson with six point five, Steve
- 1:02Speaker 2: Barnello with a six point three, Tyler Jones and Giannis
- 1:06Speaker 2: with six point zero, and col with five point five.
- 1:09Speaker 2: The average score for all Meat Eater Trivia players is
- 1:13Speaker 2: four point one.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Back in the old day, it's like sixty seven was
- 1:19Speaker 3: like a da back in grades.
- 1:24Speaker 4: Now you can win.
- 1:25Speaker 5: I feel still in the modern days it is.
- 1:28Speaker 4: I've got feedback from the board game.
- 1:31Speaker 6: Uh.
- 1:31Speaker 4: Two different people in the last week they got it
- 1:34Speaker 4: for Christmas and then played it since and UH both
- 1:37Speaker 4: said that it was hard.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Well, in a few years we hope to have a
- 1:42Speaker 2: kid's version, which would be all multiple choice, and so
- 1:46Speaker 2: if if folks felt like that was hard, maybe that
- 1:48Speaker 2: would be more.
- 1:49Speaker 7: Than were these two people with children or should they
- 1:51Speaker 7: be insulted by that?
- 1:52Speaker 3: Is there any chance you never include the flavor text
- 1:56Speaker 3: on the card? That's something I heard too, people missing
- 2:00Speaker 3: flavor text.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Honestly, No, it's like that like triples. It triples the
- 2:03Speaker 2: amount of work at some point. So to come up
- 2:06Speaker 2: with ten questions is one thing. To come up with
- 2:08Speaker 2: ten questions that each have a paragraph of flavor text,
- 2:12Speaker 2: that like triples what I need to put into it.
- 2:14Speaker 2: So no, you listen. If you're a consumer, you can
- 2:17Speaker 2: choose between having like eight hundred questions with no flavor
- 2:20Speaker 2: text or like three hundred questions with flavor text. I
- 2:23Speaker 2: think if I was them, I would pick the eight
- 2:25Speaker 2: hundred questions at that point you're writing an encyclopedia.
- 2:27Speaker 7: That's right much?
- 2:28Speaker 1: Yeah, or Spencer, we played with a family over over
- 2:33Speaker 1: Christmas and Ike, my brother, I think on the first
- 2:37Speaker 1: one got eight right wow. The next one he almost
- 2:40Speaker 1: had a perfect game. He kicked all our butts.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Okay, let us know. Next time Ike is in town,
- 2:46Speaker 2: get him a seat in.
- 2:47Speaker 7: The trivia room.
- 2:48Speaker 4: Would he like to come and play?
- 2:49Speaker 1: Yeah, he'd play. He's a smart fella. I don't know.
- 2:53Speaker 7: I don't have that.
- 2:55Speaker 2: I don't know where it came from. Now here's our
- 2:57Speaker 2: new segment, which is FAQ's. If you have a question
- 3:00Speaker 2: for our crew related to Meat Eater trivia, you can
- 3:03Speaker 2: send it to Trivia at the medeater dot com with
- 3:06Speaker 2: the subject line FAQ. Here's what Brent Simmons wants to know.
- 3:09Speaker 2: I feel like I have a good idea about what
- 3:12Speaker 2: most people do at meat Eater, but have no clue
- 3:14Speaker 2: what role Brody and Randall have besides playing trivia. Are
- 3:19Speaker 2: they in accounting writers, video editors, maintenance guys or something else.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Listen, this guy needs to pay more attention. I feel like, Yeah, Brody.
- 3:28Speaker 2: What do you use ahead?
- 3:30Speaker 4: That's really a frequently asked asked question.
- 3:35Speaker 2: No, but it was I.
- 3:38Speaker 3: That has listened to the Meat Eater podcast.
- 3:40Speaker 2: So Brody just go ahead and tell folks what you do.
- 3:44Speaker 3: I'm a writer. I write books with Steve, been doing
- 3:47Speaker 3: it for a long time.
- 3:49Speaker 2: I think if you even open up our most recent book,
- 3:51Speaker 2: The Catch a Crayfish, Count the Stars, you'll see by
- 3:55Speaker 2: Steven Ranella with Brody Henderson.
- 3:57Speaker 3: On the Survival books and.
- 3:59Speaker 2: This the Randall what do you do here at me, Peter?
- 4:02Speaker 2: Are you a maintenance guy? No, I'd say counting.
- 4:05Speaker 8: I'd do the same thing as Brody working on the
- 4:09Speaker 8: Me Meaters American history series.
- 4:12Speaker 7: It's my primary day job, which plug it. By the
- 4:16Speaker 7: time of this.
- 4:17Speaker 8: Release, it should be out there and available for sale.
- 4:20Speaker 8: Goes on sale Tuesday, January ninth. Wherever you get your audiobooks,
- 4:25Speaker 8: Thank you honest, and uh yeah, we're hard at work
- 4:30Speaker 8: on volume two.
- 4:30Speaker 2: There you'll go brand too about Mountain Men.
- 4:34Speaker 7: Is your secondary day job maintenance or this?
- 4:39Speaker 2: I wish?
- 4:39Speaker 8: I mean I had, really, you know, I just keep
- 4:42Speaker 8: showing up and they tell me different stuff to do,
- 4:44Speaker 8: and I just keep doing it.
- 4:46Speaker 2: There you go, Brent, Brody and Randall work with Steve
- 4:49Speaker 2: on our books. And audio projects. We have some housekeeping.
- 4:53Speaker 2: It get to In a previous game of trivia, I
- 4:55Speaker 2: told Brody that EHD and bluetongue are different diseases, even
- 4:59Speaker 2: though people refer to them is the same thing. Brody
- 5:02Speaker 2: then asked how they differ, to which I didn't have
- 5:04Speaker 2: an answer at the time, but I do now.
- 5:06Speaker 3: No, you did have an answer. You said it wasn't
- 5:08Speaker 3: worth explaining.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Well, I felt like my answer was, yeah, it's not
- 5:14Speaker 2: worthy of correcting somebody. If you're talking to a rancher
- 5:17Speaker 2: in eastern Montana and he's like, boy, these deer sure
- 5:20Speaker 2: got crushed by blue tongue this year, you wouldn't be like, well, actually,
- 5:23Speaker 2: let me explain it to you. Here's a quote from
- 5:25Speaker 2: the Institute of Agriculture. Quote. Blue tongue and EHD are
- 5:30Speaker 2: similar viral diseases spread by biting nets, which result in
- 5:34Speaker 2: similar clinical signs. Blue tongue typically results in severe disease
- 5:39Speaker 2: and death in cheap while cattle have reproductive losses. EHD,
- 5:44Speaker 2: on the other hand, affects all ages of deer and
- 5:46Speaker 2: is highly infectious and often results in many fatalities. However,
- 5:51Speaker 2: EHD and cattle is unusual and the clinical signs are
- 5:54Speaker 2: milder than in white tail deer. The Montana FWP adds
- 5:59Speaker 2: a bit more clear, saying that EHD has been reported
- 6:02Speaker 2: in whitetails, Muley's big horn, sheep, elk, and pronghorn, and
- 6:06Speaker 2: that blue tongue has been reported in all of those species,
- 6:09Speaker 2: as well as blacktail deer, sheep, cattle, and goat. So,
- 6:14Speaker 2: simply put, EHD is more often associated with wild animals,
- 6:18Speaker 2: while blue tongue is more often associated with domestic animals.
- 6:22Speaker 3: There you go, Brody, thank you very clear.
- 6:24Speaker 1: So when we have those big die offs that you'll
- 6:27Speaker 1: see out east and whatnot, we're everywhere, it's most likely
- 6:31Speaker 1: EHD and not blue tongue. Indeed.
- 6:33Speaker 2: But again, if you were like talking to a Montana rancher,
- 6:36Speaker 2: I wouldn't go out of my way to be like, wow, yeah,
- 6:39Speaker 2: see here.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Buddy, especially if you're trying to get permission.
- 6:41Speaker 2: That's exactly right, Chester, that's a person you want to
- 6:45Speaker 2: be sucking up to. Now. The Shelby index for today's
- 6:48Speaker 2: round is a four, so our winner should get eight
- 6:50Speaker 2: correct answers, and with that we're onto the game of trivia.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Play the drop, Phil, Look.
- 6:58Speaker 7: I need to know what I say, and win everything.
- 7:02Speaker 7: How's that just tend to win everything?
- 7:12Speaker 2: Demon suckers? Question one? The topic is woodsmanship. This first
- 7:17Speaker 2: great question comes to his via Tim Brown. Which of
- 7:21Speaker 2: these states has the most native species of venomous snakes?
- 7:27Speaker 2: Is it Arkansas, Georgia, Nebraska or Arizona? Topic is woodsmanship?
- 7:36Speaker 2: Hansi writing his answer for the whole world to see
- 7:38Speaker 2: over here. Which of these states has the most native
- 7:42Speaker 2: species of venomous snakes? Arkansas, Georgia, Nebraska, Arizona.
- 7:51Speaker 6: I do feel like I regress to the elementary school
- 7:54Speaker 6: days of hiding my test answers when I'm playing trivia.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Okay, don't trust Chester and Hansei.
- 7:59Speaker 6: No, like, I'm gonna get some folders and put them
- 8:01Speaker 6: up at the ninety degree at you go.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Which of these state attends the most native species of
- 8:06Speaker 2: venomous snakes? Arkansas, Georgia, Nebraska, Arizona. It is everybody ready,
- 8:13Speaker 2: Logan shaking his head. No, Randall, are you confident?
- 8:17Speaker 7: I'm not confident in the slightest Okay, no.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Brody, I don't have to ask if he's confident. He
- 8:23Speaker 2: does not look it right now. Arkansas, Georgia, Nebraska, Arizona
- 8:30Speaker 2: is everybody ready, Brody.
- 8:33Speaker 4: Does the cobra live in any of those states?
- 8:36Speaker 3: Brody, that's all right, I'll stick with it.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Hansi saying Georgia,
- 8:45Speaker 2: Mackenzie saying Georgia, Chester saying Georgia. Brody saying Georgia. The
- 8:50Speaker 2: whole room said Georgia. The whole room is wrong. No,
- 8:55Speaker 2: the correct answer is Arizona, Da come, you know.
- 9:00Speaker 8: Descriptor in there kind of gave me a little bit
- 9:03Speaker 8: of hesitancy.
- 9:06Speaker 7: After the fact.
- 9:08Speaker 2: What changed your mind there, Hansei? It seemed like a
- 9:12Speaker 2: possibility that Georgia would have a high likelihood of like
- 9:15Speaker 2: introduced species being in a like temperate, like relatively.
- 9:19Speaker 3: Cobras and black mombos.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Yeah, like stuff coming out of aquariums.
- 9:22Speaker 4: People were releasing stuff like them taking hold.
- 9:25Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Arizona is home to nineteen native species of venomous snakes,
- 9:30Speaker 2: which is the most in the United States. That's followed
- 9:33Speaker 2: by Texas with fifteen, Alabama with eleven, and California, Georgia,
- 9:38Speaker 2: New Mexico, and Oklahoma with ten. Arkansas is home to
- 9:41Speaker 2: six and Nebraska is home to four.
- 9:44Speaker 3: Is Arizona just a bunch of different rattlers.
- 9:47Speaker 2: I believe it is. It's every variety of rattlesnake exists there.
- 9:51Speaker 4: Now, if the question didn't have the native descriptor would
- 9:55Speaker 4: the answer of change.
- 9:56Speaker 2: I would imagine you'd see something like a Florida way
- 10:00Speaker 2: up there, or a Texas already has, you know, fifteen
- 10:03Speaker 2: native species versus Arizona having nineteen. I would assume that
- 10:06Speaker 2: Texas would then surpass them if you added in the
- 10:10Speaker 2: non native ones. This question was just about the native species.
- 10:14Speaker 2: That is a zero percenter, A rare zero percenter on
- 10:17Speaker 2: a multiple choice question.
- 10:19Speaker 4: I'll want to remember that one though.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Question two, the topic is cooking. These three words describe
- 10:25Speaker 2: the Saint Patrick's Day staple that consists of sausage, potatoes
- 10:30Speaker 2: and onion gravy. The topic is cooking. These three words
- 10:36Speaker 2: describe the Saint Patrick's Day staple that consists of sausage,
- 10:41Speaker 2: potatoes and onion gravy. Randal is confident randal? How much
- 10:48Speaker 2: Irish do you have in you?
- 10:49Speaker 7: Very little?
- 10:50Speaker 8: Okay, very little, much to the surprise of many based
- 10:55Speaker 8: on my physiognomy.
- 10:57Speaker 2: That's a fun word.
- 10:58Speaker 6: Yeah, I've never heard that one. Can I get a definition.
- 11:01Speaker 8: Uh, you know, someone would probably correct me if I
- 11:05Speaker 8: give a definition, but I believe it's like it refers
- 11:07Speaker 8: to generally the expression of your genes as they appear
- 11:10Speaker 8: on your I don't.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Know these three words describe the Saint Patrick's day staple
- 11:15Speaker 2: that consists of sausage, potatoes and onion gravy. Randal and Yanni.
- 11:21Speaker 4: I don't know the definition either, but I think yours
- 11:24Speaker 4: suffice for me.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Yanni and Randall are the only ones who look confident. Now, Brody,
- 11:28Speaker 2: you were torn on that last one between your answer
- 11:31Speaker 2: Georgia and something else. Okay, we're not going to nobody
- 11:36Speaker 2: look at Brody.
- 11:40Speaker 5: Lost lights light on purpose. Really, I only keep him
- 11:44Speaker 5: on for the light show at the beginning, and even
- 11:46Speaker 5: then they don't look very It's funny.
- 11:48Speaker 8: I've been staring at the light this whole time, trying
- 11:51Speaker 8: to figure out whether or not it was a new
- 11:54Speaker 8: thing for me.
- 11:55Speaker 7: I was like, why is this so distracting? Turns out
- 11:57Speaker 7: very instincts dead on.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Everybody have an answer for the three words that describe
- 12:03Speaker 2: the Saint Patrick's Day staple that consists of sausage, potatoes
- 12:08Speaker 2: and onion gravy. Everybody ready, Yanni is grinning. Yanni, you
- 12:14Speaker 2: like your answer. I feel like it's the only dish
- 12:18Speaker 2: I know. Mackenzie, I think we're waiting on you. Go
- 12:23Speaker 2: ahead and reveal your answers. We have HANSI saying bangers
- 12:27Speaker 2: and mash, McKenzie saying poutin poutin poutine, Chester saying beans
- 12:33Speaker 2: and mash, Brody saying bangers and mashers, Logan saying the
- 12:38Speaker 2: Holy Trinity, Jannis saying bangers and mash. Randall's saying bangers
- 12:43Speaker 2: and mash. The correct answer is bangers and mash. Are
- 12:47Speaker 2: we going to give it to Brody who said mashers?
- 12:50Speaker 2: I think we would give it to him. Yeah, I
- 12:52Speaker 2: think Randy? Is it also British? I remember you're right
- 12:58Speaker 2: that it is British, Rand, but the Irish have sort
- 13:01Speaker 2: of claimed it is their own.
- 13:02Speaker 5: Okay.
- 13:03Speaker 3: I advocated for you getting that answer a couple of games.
- 13:06Speaker 8: Oh, I know, I know, and that's why I'm abstaining
- 13:08Speaker 8: rather than say no.
- 13:11Speaker 2: So we're going to give Brody the point for saying
- 13:13Speaker 2: bangers and mashers.
- 13:15Speaker 1: You just ordered this the other day.
- 13:17Speaker 3: You don beans.
- 13:18Speaker 2: You are so close Chester. Now, the history of this
- 13:22Speaker 2: dish dates back, I know, but.
- 13:28Speaker 1: I can't think of it, I was like something with
- 13:31Speaker 1: a B.
- 13:33Speaker 2: The history of this dish dates back to World War One,
- 13:35Speaker 2: when meat shortages caused Brits to make sausage links that
- 13:39Speaker 2: were disproportionately high in water. Because of the excess moisture.
- 13:43Speaker 2: The sausages would pop and hiss when cooked, which led
- 13:47Speaker 2: them to being called bangers. To learn how to make
- 13:50Speaker 2: the perfect sausage for Bangers and mash, go to the
- 13:52Speaker 2: meadeater dot com and check out Justin Townsend's recipe called
- 13:56Speaker 2: Venison Irish Breakfast Breakfast Sausage. Question three, the topic is hunting.
- 14:03Speaker 2: What is the second most popular objective lens size for
- 14:07Speaker 2: binoculars at bass pro shops and shields?
- 14:12Speaker 6: Why do you have to do second?
- 14:14Speaker 2: We're not looking for the first most popular. We're looking
- 14:17Speaker 2: for the second most popular objective lens size for binoculars
- 14:22Speaker 2: at bass pro shops and shields. Do you think you
- 14:28Speaker 2: know first? Mackenzie?
- 14:30Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 14:33Speaker 2: Yohanny, you feel good about your answer? Yes? Y. When's
- 14:36Speaker 2: the last time you had Bangers and mash?
- 14:39Speaker 5: Hmmm?
- 14:40Speaker 4: I don't know, within two years?
- 14:42Speaker 7: Really?
- 14:43Speaker 2: What was the occasion? Oh?
- 14:46Speaker 4: Just make it at home now, I don't. I don't
- 14:48Speaker 4: make a special onion gravy. But if I just cook
- 14:50Speaker 4: up sausages and mashed potatoes, then I call it.
- 14:54Speaker 7: I had bangers and mash on December twenty seventh.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Oh so like a week ag it was the occasion.
- 15:01Speaker 7: Wrapped to dinner at the Fanning Goat Pub.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Okay, are they like very specifically Irish they have?
- 15:07Speaker 7: Yeah, they have some some Irish themed dishes.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Would you have gotten that right if you didn't just
- 15:11Speaker 2: order that a week most certainly okay?
- 15:14Speaker 1: Fainting though?
- 15:14Speaker 7: Is that in Miszula?
- 15:16Speaker 5: Hey chat? Sorry really quick, I gotta put on my
- 15:18Speaker 5: electrician sat and fix that after this show. But can
- 15:20Speaker 5: you and Mackenzie share Mike for the rest of the show? Sorry,
- 15:22Speaker 5: thank you.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Does everybody have an answer for the second most popular
- 15:27Speaker 2: objective lens size? Go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 15:32Speaker 2: have Hansi saying ten by sixty, Mackenzie sang ten by fifty,
- 15:37Speaker 2: Chester saying twelve by forty two, Brody sang fifty millimeter,
- 15:42Speaker 2: Logan sang fifty millimeter, Joannis saying fifty Randall saying fifty millimeter.
- 15:48Speaker 2: The correct answer is fifty. The room did very well.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Mackenzie will give it to you even though you added
- 15:55Speaker 2: in the magnification, you got the right objective lens size.
- 16:00Speaker 2: At Shields, there are sixty seven binoculars available with an
- 16:03Speaker 2: objective lens size of forty two millimeters. That's followed by
- 16:08Speaker 2: thirty two available in fifty millimeters, twenty five available in
- 16:12Speaker 2: thirty two millimeters, and twenty two available in twenty five millimeters.
- 16:17Speaker 2: The objective lens size affects the physical size of the
- 16:20Speaker 2: binos and the amount of light they can gather.
- 16:23Speaker 6: So you weren't talking about units sold, but what they carry.
- 16:27Speaker 2: I would imagine they go hand in hand.
- 16:29Speaker 6: But yes, which one forecasting team is good?
- 16:32Speaker 5: That's right?
- 16:33Speaker 2: Question for the topic is conservation. This next great question
- 16:38Speaker 2: comes to us via Lyle McCormick. The CCC, which was
- 16:43Speaker 2: established by Franklin D. Roosevelt, stands for what. The c
- 16:50Speaker 2: c C, which was established by Franklin D. Roosevelt, stands
- 16:56Speaker 2: for what The room is looking very confident minus logan
- 17:02Speaker 2: Rody Hansei Randall quick to answer. You need to tell
- 17:06Speaker 2: us what the c c C stands for. Brody, do
- 17:14Speaker 2: you have any binoculars in your gearshed that aren't a
- 17:18Speaker 2: forty two or a fifty millimeter BYO.
- 17:21Speaker 3: No, but I'm wanting to get some smaller ones for
- 17:23Speaker 3: turkey season, some little guys, because you don't really need
- 17:27Speaker 3: sure great big jumbos for that.
- 17:29Speaker 2: How about you, Yannie, anything that's not a forty two
- 17:32Speaker 2: or a fifty.
- 17:33Speaker 4: Yeah, I got an eight by twenty five I believe
- 17:36Speaker 4: that I used for deer stand hunting and turkey hunting.
- 17:40Speaker 2: There you go, some of the sizes. I wasn't even
- 17:42Speaker 2: where it existed. I know there were thirty two or
- 17:44Speaker 2: twenty five's available.
- 17:46Speaker 3: Remember those little teeny tascos.
- 17:48Speaker 7: Yeah, just like the straight tube.
- 17:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:50Speaker 2: When I see those, I'm like, I don't even know
- 17:52Speaker 2: who they're for, like some specific birders.
- 17:54Speaker 3: Who are They're for people who don't want to spend
- 17:56Speaker 3: money on binoculars.
- 17:58Speaker 4: Dude, for tree stand hunting in the Midwest and you
- 18:02Speaker 4: can't see past one hundred yards anyways, it's all you need. Oh,
- 18:07Speaker 4: I think I have it wrong, but I can't think
- 18:08Speaker 4: of another answer.
- 18:09Speaker 2: Again. This is question four. We're looking for what the c.
- 18:12Speaker 4: C c oh No?
- 18:15Speaker 3: Oh, another late one from you? Honest?
- 18:18Speaker 2: Which of those seas are you changing, Yanni? All three
- 18:21Speaker 2: of them or just one of them?
- 18:22Speaker 4: I guess I think I think I only have to
- 18:24Speaker 4: change the first.
- 18:25Speaker 7: One, change all three.
- 18:28Speaker 4: That's a good.
- 18:36Speaker 2: Waiting on you, Yanni. This is a good attempt Randall
- 18:42Speaker 2: to distract him. Is everybody ready? Go ahead and reveal
- 18:46Speaker 2: your answers. We have HANSI saying Civilian Conservation Corps, Mackenzie
- 18:51Speaker 2: saying Captains Conservation Club, Chester saying Conservation Coalition Commission. Really good, literally,
- 19:00Speaker 2: which is great alliteration that should exist. Brody sang Civilian
- 19:04Speaker 2: Conservation Corps. Logan saying conservation capitalism. C Jannis saying Civilian
- 19:11Speaker 2: Conservation Core. Randall saying Civilian Conservation Corp. The correct answer
- 19:17Speaker 2: is the Civilian Conservation Core. The Civilian Conservation Corps was
- 19:23Speaker 2: created in nineteen thirty three as a way to help
- 19:26Speaker 2: lift America out of the Great Depression. It allowed single
- 19:30Speaker 2: men between ages eighteen to twenty five to enlist in
- 19:33Speaker 2: work programs that were designed to improve the country's public land.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Enlisters made thirty dollars per month and had meals and
- 19:41Speaker 2: lodging provided. Brody, do you think you'd have been part
- 19:44Speaker 2: of the CCC if you were a single man between
- 19:47Speaker 2: ages eighteen and twenty five?
- 19:48Speaker 3: I probably needed the work, so yeah, and I'm sure
- 19:52Speaker 3: they built a lot of dams and stuff like that.
- 19:55Speaker 2: I think a lot of things you look at on
- 19:57Speaker 2: our federal lands, you could probably have something related to
- 20:00Speaker 2: the CCC and a cool.
- 20:02Speaker 8: Thing that's been blasted into the side of a mountain.
- 20:05Speaker 8: They probably had a hand in it.
- 20:07Speaker 2: And I think of that thirty dollars a month they
- 20:09Speaker 2: had to send twenty five back to their family, and
- 20:11Speaker 2: it was so they only got like five dollars of
- 20:13Speaker 2: that to keep around. Question five. The topic is gear.
- 20:18Speaker 2: This synthetic rubber that's resistant to oil, heat and weathering
- 20:23Speaker 2: was invented by DuPont chemists in nineteen thirty one. Topic
- 20:30Speaker 2: is a gear. This synthetic rubber that's resistant to oil, heat,
- 20:35Speaker 2: and weathering was invented by DuPont chemists in nineteen thirty one.
- 20:41Speaker 2: This is question five. We will get a scoreboard update
- 20:44Speaker 2: from Phil after this. Randal already has his board down
- 20:48Speaker 2: with an answer. Yanni has not picked up his board yet. Randal,
- 20:53Speaker 2: you know this one.
- 20:55Speaker 7: Uh, I feel okay about it.
- 20:58Speaker 8: I wrote down my first best guess and now I'm
- 21:00Speaker 8: working on my second guess, and then I'll weigh the two.
- 21:03Speaker 2: This synthetic rubber that's resistant to oil, heat and weathering
- 21:09Speaker 2: was invented by DuPont chemists in nineteen thirty one. Randall
- 21:16Speaker 2: is back to his white board. Brody is covering his
- 21:19Speaker 2: face with his white board. Janni, how do you feel
- 21:22Speaker 2: about your answer?
- 21:26Speaker 4: I have a good guess. Okay, I'm gonna keep working
- 21:29Speaker 4: on it. M Randall's keeps writing, Janni.
- 21:35Speaker 2: We recently did some more kids trivia, which you'll hear
- 21:38Speaker 2: later this year. And I think I observed that your daughter,
- 21:42Speaker 2: Mabel liked to watch what the other players in the
- 21:45Speaker 2: room would do after the answer was read. She wanted
- 21:48Speaker 2: to see their confidence and their answer. If they were
- 21:51Speaker 2: quick to write down, if they were slow, if they
- 21:53Speaker 2: like scratch their head. And I said that your dad
- 21:57Speaker 2: does the exact same thing. You do that, Yeah, yeah,
- 22:01Speaker 2: you'd like to sit there and just drink it all in.
- 22:05Speaker 4: Well, yeah, because if they sit there and write for
- 22:08Speaker 4: ten seconds, then you got a pretty good idea. That's
- 22:10Speaker 4: a long answer.
- 22:12Speaker 2: It's a good hint.
- 22:14Speaker 4: You know what else she was doing is she said
- 22:18Speaker 4: they both were pushing to go squirrel hunting. I was like,
- 22:21Speaker 4: what's the big interest in going squirrel hunting? She's like, well,
- 22:23Speaker 4: I want to go squirrel hunting. But another thing is
- 22:26Speaker 4: that last time we did kids trivia trus or, Spencer
- 22:30Speaker 4: asked me what I wanted to what I like to do,
- 22:32Speaker 4: and she said that I had said hammicking. She said,
- 22:36Speaker 4: that's a stupid answer, made no sense. So this time
- 22:40Speaker 4: when he asked me, I'm gonna say I like to
- 22:42Speaker 4: go squirrel hunting, and I don't want to make sure
- 22:44Speaker 4: they've done it recently so that I'm not fibbing.
- 22:47Speaker 2: That's amazing love that, So did she goes squirrel hunting? It?
- 22:51Speaker 4: We did go squirrel hunting, the Henderson family and my
- 22:55Speaker 4: family went and we saw my crew saw too. I
- 22:59Speaker 4: think Brody's cruise off you more. We only killed one
- 23:03Speaker 4: squirrel on our expedition, a lot of movement.
- 23:06Speaker 2: So next time we ask what they like to do
- 23:08Speaker 2: in the outdoors, is she still going to say squirrel hunting?
- 23:11Speaker 4: Or does this? I expect? So okay, if she says
- 23:14Speaker 4: hammicking again, she's gonna beat herself up for a while.
- 23:17Speaker 2: Does everybody have an answer for the synthetic rubber that's
- 23:20Speaker 2: resistant to oil, heat, and weathering that was invented by
- 23:24Speaker 2: DuPont chemists in nineteen thirty one. Mackenzie, I believe me
- 23:29Speaker 2: waiting on you go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 23:33Speaker 2: have Hansey saying vulcanized, Mackenzie sayg neoprene, Chester Saang vibrum,
- 23:42Speaker 2: Brody saying PVC, Logan saying neoprene, Giannis saying PVC, Randall
- 23:49Speaker 2: saying silicone. We have a correct answer in the room.
- 23:53Speaker 2: It's neoprene. HANSI got it right, Logan and Mackenzie got
- 24:00Speaker 2: it right. Well done, Logan and Mackenzie. Neoprene was originally
- 24:04Speaker 2: used in telephone wires and automobile engines, and was later
- 24:08Speaker 2: turned into gloves and shoe soles. It wasn't until the
- 24:11Speaker 2: nineteen fifties when the first neoprene wetsuit was created. About
- 24:15Speaker 2: a decade later, the modern wet suit was invented when
- 24:19Speaker 2: elastic nylon was added to the neoprene phil We're halfway
- 24:23Speaker 2: through the game of trivia. Give us a scoreboard update.
- 24:27Speaker 5: We've got Chester, Floyd in last place with zero points. Mackenzie, Logan,
- 24:33Speaker 5: and Hansei all have two points apiece and all tied
- 24:35Speaker 5: up in first place. Brodie, Giannis and Randall they all
- 24:38Speaker 5: have three points.
- 24:40Speaker 2: Now the PVC answer I don't blame you boys, because
- 24:44Speaker 2: I make the meat eat or trivia universe pretty wide.
- 24:47Speaker 2: But what did you think that was related to meat
- 24:49Speaker 2: eatter trivia? That PVC would be an answer?
- 24:53Speaker 3: Why does it have to do with anything to do
- 24:55Speaker 3: with media or trivia? You have questions all the time
- 24:58Speaker 3: that I have nothing to do with media.
- 24:59Speaker 4: Yeah, what kind of question is that?
- 25:02Speaker 2: Question?
- 25:02Speaker 4: Six?
- 25:04Speaker 2: The topic is conservation. This next great question comes to
- 25:08Speaker 2: us via John.
- 25:09Speaker 3: But I get what you're getting at the makes sense now.
- 25:11Speaker 2: Yeah, ambergris, which is a waxy substance that sometimes used
- 25:25Speaker 2: to make perfume, is produced by this animal.
- 25:29Speaker 3: How specific, Spencer.
- 25:31Speaker 2: You don't need to be specific if you think the
- 25:37Speaker 2: answer I think it should be because it's ambergris, which
- 25:43Speaker 2: is a waxy substance that sometimes used to make perfume,
- 25:48Speaker 2: is produced by this animal. Brody is confident, HANSI you
- 25:53Speaker 2: have this one right, Yeah, Randall, you have this one.
- 25:57Speaker 3: Very much arguing specificity.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Yeah, you're throwing me off with that though, so I
- 26:02Speaker 1: don't think.
- 26:02Speaker 2: It wouldn't It wouldn't matter, you know how specific you
- 26:08Speaker 2: need to go, Randall.
- 26:09Speaker 5: Body just wants to separate the wheat from the chat.
- 26:15Speaker 3: After this.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Don't need to be that specific. Amber green, which is
- 26:24Speaker 2: a waxy substance that sometimes used to make perfume, is
- 26:28Speaker 2: produced by this animal. Yanni, you got a chance to
- 26:31Speaker 2: observe the room in their writing down of answers. Did
- 26:36Speaker 2: that help you any.
- 26:39Speaker 4: No? I think your question gives some hints.
- 26:44Speaker 2: I think you should check your pronunciation to m okay,
- 26:48Speaker 2: you think the yes should be on there.
- 26:51Speaker 3: I'm just saying, how would you.
- 26:56Speaker 7: That's one of those words I've never heard spoken, I
- 26:59Speaker 7: have only read.
- 26:59Speaker 2: I think could be wrong. I think I'm right here,
- 27:01Speaker 2: bro I can check for you.
- 27:03Speaker 7: Uh.
- 27:03Speaker 2: While we do this, maybe uh fill us in with
- 27:05Speaker 2: some banter there, Yanni.
- 27:08Speaker 4: Brody, does this animal live in a place that both
- 27:11Speaker 4: of us have fished? Of the same name? What here?
- 27:20Speaker 2: Google is going to tell us how to pronounce it ambergris?
- 27:25Speaker 2: You're right, Brody, I thought it was ambergris. Ambergris which
- 27:30Speaker 2: is a waxy substance that sometimes used to make perfume.
- 27:34Speaker 2: It is produced by this animal that is spelled a
- 27:36Speaker 2: M B E R g r I S.
- 27:40Speaker 5: Spencer. You've had ai like chat GPT come up with,
- 27:44Speaker 5: you know, poems and things before. Would you ever have
- 27:47Speaker 5: like a like an AI play trivia with us, I
- 27:49Speaker 5: feel like I kind.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Of oh, so we've had somebody write in about this before,
- 27:53Speaker 2: and trivia has like a ninety excuse me AI chat
- 27:56Speaker 2: GPT specifically gets like ninety five percent of ants is correct.
- 28:01Speaker 2: The category it struggled with the most was hunting. I
- 28:04Speaker 2: believe that was where it had a batting average of
- 28:07Speaker 2: like seventy percent. Everything else, cooking, conservation, fishing was nearly
- 28:10Speaker 2: one hundred percent. Now Here this says Webster says, you
- 28:14Speaker 2: can pronounce it ambergris or ambergris, So.
- 28:17Speaker 7: There we go.
- 28:18Speaker 2: Either way will work?
- 28:21Speaker 6: Checkmate?
- 28:22Speaker 2: Does everybody have an answer? Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Honzi saying whale, Mackenzie saying beaver, Chester saying otter, Brody
- 28:35Speaker 2: saying sperm whale, Logan saying whale, Jannis saying turtle, Randall
- 28:41Speaker 2: saying whale. The correct answer is sperm whale or just whale. Ambergris,
- 28:47Speaker 2: or floating gold, is created when secretions form around squid
- 28:52Speaker 2: beaks in the intestines of sperm whales. The Endangered Species
- 28:56Speaker 2: Act prohibits people from collecting or selling ambergris because it's
- 29:00Speaker 2: considered part of a protected animal. The largest Ambergris ever
- 29:04Speaker 2: found weighed two hundred and twenty pounds and was worth
- 29:07Speaker 2: about three million dollars.
- 29:09Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 29:09Speaker 8: The only thing that threw me off in the phrasing
- 29:11Speaker 8: of this question was the present tense, and I was
- 29:16Speaker 8: beginning to doubt myself, like if it if it had
- 29:20Speaker 8: said like which has historically been used to make perfume.
- 29:23Speaker 2: So it's it's still used in some but only like
- 29:26Speaker 2: the most expensive of perfume they I think it's used
- 29:30Speaker 2: in like the preservation corcent. And it's less about the
- 29:33Speaker 2: scent Itselfcha, It's more about like making it long lasting,
- 29:37Speaker 2: so when you spray it on yourself, you're still gonna
- 29:40Speaker 2: smell it the next day.
- 29:41Speaker 3: To answer your question, you're honest, Yes, Yeah, Ambergris k
- 29:46Speaker 3: Key k or Key police.
- 29:50Speaker 1: Ok.
- 29:50Speaker 4: They must have been a huge trafficker.
- 29:52Speaker 3: They were, and that's why, that's why what are you
- 29:54Speaker 3: talking about.
- 29:55Speaker 2: I'm not familiar and believe.
- 29:57Speaker 3: There's an island called Ambergris k or Key however you
- 30:01Speaker 3: want to pronounce it, and it was a British, British
- 30:04Speaker 3: colonized believe, and Ambergris was a big reason why they
- 30:09Speaker 3: were there.
- 30:11Speaker 2: Finding one of those could change your life if it
- 30:14Speaker 2: was legal to keep Question seven, The topic is biology.
- 30:20Speaker 2: Fertility is a synonym for this nine letter word, which
- 30:24Speaker 2: is defined as quote an animal's ability to produce a
- 30:28Speaker 2: lot of babies. The topic is biology. Brody and Randall
- 30:34Speaker 2: already have an answer. Mackenzie is joining them. Fertility is
- 30:39Speaker 2: a synonym for this nine letter word, which is defined
- 30:43Speaker 2: as an animal's ability to produce a lot of babies.
- 30:48Speaker 4: Nine baby letter. He feels very proud.
- 30:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I know if that helped anybody, though, who? I
- 31:02Speaker 2: feel like it's a fair didn't already know it?
- 31:04Speaker 3: Did?
- 31:04Speaker 2: Is?
- 31:04Speaker 4: That's a good one.
- 31:05Speaker 8: And he doesn't slide over it.
- 31:07Speaker 5: He looks you in the eye. You heard me use
- 31:10Speaker 5: that word, right, Yeah I did.
- 31:12Speaker 2: Chester Did that help you at all? No, Steve's a
- 31:16Speaker 2: lot of words.
- 31:16Speaker 1: I just cannot think today.
- 31:18Speaker 3: Efficacy instead of efficiency. It's like that.
- 31:24Speaker 2: Does everybody have an answer for this question, which is
- 31:28Speaker 2: question seven. Fertility is a synonym for this nine letter word,
- 31:32Speaker 2: which is defined to ask, quote an animal's ability to
- 31:35Speaker 2: produce a lot of babies.
- 31:39Speaker 4: It's not the same thing, too, but I love his
- 31:41Speaker 4: pronunciation of bagel.
- 31:44Speaker 3: In vague in vague. Yeah, we shouldn't be bad. We
- 31:49Speaker 3: shouldn't be attacking him behind his back. Come on.
- 31:51Speaker 2: He also goes out of his way to to say
- 31:55Speaker 2: Teddy Roosevelt instead of Roosevelt, which is I feel like
- 31:59Speaker 2: that's fair though that's correct, right, I don't know, I
- 32:02Speaker 2: just uh, I noticed that he hammers that one like
- 32:05Speaker 2: he wants you to know that he intentionally said it.
- 32:09Speaker 4: He read somewhere that the family prefers Roosevelt.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Does everybody have an answer to my question?
- 32:16Speaker 7: I've got to count.
- 32:17Speaker 3: Kay yeaheah, yeah, okay.
- 32:22Speaker 2: You have this one right. And I knew my first
- 32:25Speaker 2: one was wrong.
- 32:26Speaker 7: I knew it was wrong, but it got me to
- 32:27Speaker 7: the second one.
- 32:28Speaker 2: Is everybody ready, go go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 32:34Speaker 2: We have Hansi saying fecundity, Mackenzie saying fruitful, Chester without
- 32:39Speaker 2: an answer, Brody saying fecundity, Logan is saying pro create,
- 32:45Speaker 2: and he drew out like hangman, little dashes to make
- 32:48Speaker 2: sure he hit nine letters, Giannis saying fecundity, Randall saying fecundity.
- 32:54Speaker 2: The correct answer is for kundity. Fecundity rates are often
- 32:59Speaker 2: tied to parrec mental care, so animals with a high
- 33:02Speaker 2: fecundity rate, produce a lot of offspring, but put very
- 33:06Speaker 2: little energy into raising them. And an example of this
- 33:09Speaker 2: is a trout and animals with a low fecundity rate
- 33:12Speaker 2: produce few offspring, but put a lot of energy into
- 33:16Speaker 2: raising them. An example of this is an elephant and
- 33:19Speaker 2: some humans. Question eight, the topic is public lands? What
- 33:26Speaker 2: is the only National park in organ?
- 33:30Speaker 4: Oh?
- 33:31Speaker 2: This is question eight? The topic is public lands. Randal
- 33:37Speaker 2: is quick to come up with an answer. What is
- 33:40Speaker 2: the only National park in Oregon? We will get a
- 33:43Speaker 2: scoreboard update after this. Have you ever been here, doctor Randall?
- 33:52Speaker 7: I have not. I have not.
- 33:57Speaker 4: Is it near.
- 34:00Speaker 7: California and Washington?
- 34:02Speaker 4: Yes?
- 34:03Speaker 2: What is the only National park in Oregon?
- 34:06Speaker 4: Hansei?
- 34:06Speaker 2: You have an answer?
- 34:07Speaker 4: But is it closer to I do?
- 34:10Speaker 7: But Randall's that that makes me change my.
- 34:13Speaker 2: Thought a little bit?
- 34:14Speaker 8: Really, what if I had used the Pacific Ocean in Idaho?
- 34:19Speaker 2: Now he's just flexing his geography muscle, Hansei, do you
- 34:26Speaker 2: think you've been to this place?
- 34:27Speaker 5: If it's what I have written down, I've been there.
- 34:29Speaker 2: But what is the only National park in Oregon? Oregon
- 34:35Speaker 2: feels like a place should that should have like a
- 34:37Speaker 2: half dozen nws that.
- 34:38Speaker 5: That was just like, it's such a beautiful state. It's
- 34:41Speaker 5: only got one national national park.
- 34:44Speaker 2: Gosh Brody is frustrated.
- 34:49Speaker 7: King the hat is low.
- 34:53Speaker 2: The hat he currently looks like, is it a home improvement?
- 34:57Speaker 2: What's the neighbor's name, Wilson, Wilson. He currently is doing
- 35:01Speaker 2: the Wilson look over there, Logan, do you have an answer?
- 35:07Speaker 5: I do, but it's probably not right.
- 35:09Speaker 6: And you just made me think of a flashbacks to
- 35:11Speaker 6: Home Improvement. I was watching a lot of Tim Allen
- 35:13Speaker 6: stuff over the holidays.
- 35:15Speaker 2: Really yeah, like what I.
- 35:23Speaker 7: Was thinking of some of his more recent projects.
- 35:26Speaker 2: Phil, did you like home Improvement?
- 35:28Speaker 6: Oh?
- 35:28Speaker 5: Yoh yeah, we're a big big You need to sound
- 35:31Speaker 5: effects like.
- 35:32Speaker 2: I was just gonna ask you if you get hit
- 35:34Speaker 2: that one more time. Everyone be quiet.
- 35:36Speaker 5: There's too much pressure.
- 35:39Speaker 2: Bill went cross eyed when he did that. You had
- 35:41Speaker 2: to reach down deep to make that Tim Allen noise.
- 35:45Speaker 2: The second one was better, by the way, too.
- 35:51Speaker 7: It's like a grunt and a slide.
- 35:52Speaker 4: Whistle at once.
- 35:53Speaker 2: Yeah. Doing those is like a cigarette. It takes like
- 35:56Speaker 2: eleven minutes off your life and you try to try
- 35:59Speaker 2: to hit one of the When I was nine, what
- 36:03Speaker 2: is the only well, he did a lot of cocaine
- 36:10Speaker 2: I think in the eighties that offset it. So that's
- 36:13Speaker 2: as you know, adds minutes here.
- 36:15Speaker 7: Let me mm hm.
- 36:17Speaker 2: That's good. Does everybody have an answer? Brody, go ahead, Johanny,
- 36:27Speaker 2: go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Hansei saying
- 36:31Speaker 2: Smith Rock, Mackenzie saying Crater Lake, Chester saying Sequoia, Brody
- 36:37Speaker 2: saying fossils, Logan saying Redwoods, Giannis saying Hell's Canyon, Randall's
- 36:43Speaker 2: saying Crater Lake. We have a correct answer in the room.
- 36:47Speaker 2: It's Crater Lake National Park. Crater Lake is the deepest
- 36:51Speaker 2: lake in the United States, at nearly two thousand feet deep.
- 36:56Speaker 2: It lies inside the collapsed remnants of an ancient volcano
- 36:59Speaker 2: known as Mount Mazama. Biologists believe there are no native
- 37:03Speaker 2: fish to the lake, but it does have COCONet salmon
- 37:06Speaker 2: and rainbow trout that were stocked there about one hundred
- 37:09Speaker 2: years ago. Isn't Crater Lake the one with the giant
- 37:11Speaker 2: log that's floating the old man of Crater Lake? Okay
- 37:15Speaker 2: posted about that on Instagram before. It's a very old
- 37:18Speaker 2: piece of driftwood that stays perfectly buoyant. It's similar to
- 37:22Speaker 2: a glacier where you only see like ten percent of
- 37:24Speaker 2: it on the surface. It moves around the lake. Scientists
- 37:27Speaker 2: tried to study it once before and they chained it
- 37:29Speaker 2: up to like an island, and then a huge storm hit.
- 37:33Speaker 2: So it was believed that it was bad luck to
- 37:35Speaker 2: try to contain the old Man of Crater Lakes, so
- 37:38Speaker 2: they just let him drift. After that, there's like some
- 37:41Speaker 2: lga on him that's only observed in that spot.
- 37:44Speaker 7: Did you guys rehearse this?
- 37:45Speaker 2: No? I have aspirations to go to Crater Lake later
- 37:50Speaker 2: this year, and I'd love to see the old Man.
- 37:52Speaker 5: I think the island is called like Merlin Island or
- 37:55Speaker 5: Wizard Island.
- 37:55Speaker 4: It's cool name.
- 37:56Speaker 2: Philly Engineer. Give us a scoreboard update.
- 38:00Speaker 5: Chester, Mackenzie and Logan have been eliminated from the game.
- 38:05Speaker 5: Logan Mackenzie have three points, though that's nice. Joannison Hanse
- 38:09Speaker 5: have four points, Apiece Brody has five, and in first
- 38:11Speaker 5: place is Randall six points.
- 38:15Speaker 2: Question nineination there is hunting.
- 38:20Speaker 5: Moore enthusiasm into your name then.
- 38:22Speaker 2: He question nine The topic is hunting. What holiday was
- 38:26Speaker 2: the blizzard of nineteen forty that killed eighty five Midwestern
- 38:31Speaker 2: duck hunters.
- 38:32Speaker 6: I feel like I know this.
- 38:36Speaker 2: What holiday was the blizzard of nineteen forty that killed
- 38:40Speaker 2: eighty five Midwestern duck hunters? Brody, you have this one right?
- 38:50Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 38:51Speaker 2: I do. He appears to be the only one with
- 38:54Speaker 2: any confidence. What holiday was the blizzard of nineteen forty
- 39:00Speaker 2: that killed eighty five Midwestern duck hunters?
- 39:03Speaker 6: No?
- 39:03Speaker 7: Is this a real holiday? Or is this like Arbor Day?
- 39:08Speaker 2: Why don't you like Arbor Day?
- 39:09Speaker 3: You got something against trees?
- 39:12Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 39:12Speaker 2: Just well, didn't we had a tiebreaker once about Arbor Day?
- 39:17Speaker 2: We did think it wasn't you were about four months off.
- 39:19Speaker 2: We didn't do right to answer her. So Randall is
- 39:23Speaker 2: the only person on earth who is taking a stance
- 39:26Speaker 2: against Arbor Day. He is anti Arbor Day.
- 39:30Speaker 7: Don't come after me.
- 39:31Speaker 2: This is question nine? What holiday was the blizzard of
- 39:34Speaker 2: nineteen forty that killed eighty five Midwestern duck hunters? Is
- 39:40Speaker 2: everybody ready? Randall? Has he raised his entire board? Did
- 39:46Speaker 2: you change your mind? Or do you just need to
- 39:49Speaker 2: write in prettier writing?
- 39:53Speaker 7: I don't know. That was just right?
- 39:56Speaker 2: Here we go, McKenzie. Are you ready? Yes? Now, explain
- 40:04Speaker 2: what's going on here? Randall has totally eraised his board
- 40:08Speaker 2: for a second time. Is now is this answer going
- 40:11Speaker 2: to be your first answer or is it your third answer.
- 40:15Speaker 8: It's my first answer, and I don't like it, okay,
- 40:17Speaker 8: but I didn't like the other one either.
- 40:21Speaker 2: Mackenzie just guess I realize I said something. Go ahead
- 40:26Speaker 2: and reveal your answers. We have Hansei saying Columbus Day,
- 40:30Speaker 2: Mackenzie saying President's Day, chest you're saying Christmas. Brody's saying
- 40:35Speaker 2: Armistice Day. Logan saying Armistice Day. You're honest saying Armistice
- 40:40Speaker 2: Randall saying President's Day. The correct answer is Armistice Day
- 40:45Speaker 2: or Veterans Day. Prior to nineteen fifty four it was
- 40:49Speaker 2: Armistice Day, but if you said Veterans Day, we would
- 40:52Speaker 2: give you credit for that. The blizzard unexpectedly hit the
- 40:55Speaker 2: Upper Midwest on the afternoon before Armistice Day, which called
- 41:00Speaker 2: hundreds of duck hunters to get stranded on the water.
- 41:03Speaker 2: The storm brought two feet of snow, eighty mile per
- 41:05Speaker 2: hour winds in a thirty degree temperature swing. It's estimated
- 41:09Speaker 2: the blizzard killed two hundred and ten people, sixty five
- 41:12Speaker 2: of which were sailors on Lake Michigan. For more on
- 41:15Speaker 2: this story, read my article on the mediater dot com
- 41:17Speaker 2: called Armistice Day, The day eighty five duck hunters died. Phil.
- 41:22Speaker 2: We have one question left. Who is left in the game?
- 41:26Speaker 5: Wow, we have three players left in the game. Giannis
- 41:28Speaker 5: has five points, so you can technically catch up. Then
- 41:30Speaker 5: tied up are Randall and Brody with six points.
- 41:35Speaker 2: Question ten. The topic is fishing. This is our listener
- 41:39Speaker 2: question of the week, which was won by Adam mcquerie
- 41:42Speaker 2: for sending this great question. Adam is going to get
- 41:44Speaker 2: a board game signed by the crew. If you want
- 41:46Speaker 2: a chance to win our listener question of the week,
- 41:48Speaker 2: then send your question to Trivia at the meadeater dot com.
- 41:52Speaker 2: What fish has a magnolia hybrid that's created when crossing
- 41:57Speaker 2: a white species with a black speed The room is stumped.
- 42:04Speaker 2: This is our final question. We would need Giannis to
- 42:07Speaker 2: get this right, Randall and Brody to get this wrong
- 42:11Speaker 2: to go to a three way tiebreaker, or we could
- 42:14Speaker 2: just have Brody and Randall get it right. They would
- 42:16Speaker 2: go to a tiebreaker. We could have them get it wrong,
- 42:19Speaker 2: Yanni get it wrong, and they would just go to
- 42:21Speaker 2: a tiebreaker, A lot of options.
- 42:24Speaker 3: To go to one of those made jobbies.
- 42:27Speaker 2: Not going to help you out there. What fish has
- 42:30Speaker 2: a magnolia hybrid that's created when crossing a white species
- 42:36Speaker 2: with a black species? Yanni, how do you feel about
- 42:39Speaker 2: your answer?
- 42:42Speaker 4: I might have to argue correct.
- 42:45Speaker 3: I think you're headed the right direction. You're honest.
- 42:48Speaker 2: Okay, make for an exciting finish to the game.
- 42:54Speaker 4: Would yeah, I wouldn't. Uh, wouldn't be a game of
- 42:57Speaker 4: trivia without this?
- 42:58Speaker 2: What fish has a magnolia a hybrid that's created when
- 43:01Speaker 2: crossing a white species with a black species. This is
- 43:07Speaker 2: question ten. Randall just came up with an answer. How
- 43:11Speaker 2: do you feel about it?
- 43:13Speaker 8: There's a white species and a black species. Okay, don't
- 43:17Speaker 8: know about this magnolia business.
- 43:19Speaker 2: Okay, are you.
- 43:20Speaker 3: I don't understand. Are you looking for the name of
- 43:23Speaker 3: the fish like the hybrid, or are you looking.
- 43:28Speaker 2: For I'm telling you the hybrid is a magnolia. This
- 43:31Speaker 2: would be like if you cross a white lab with
- 43:35Speaker 2: a black lab, you would get a magnolia.
- 43:38Speaker 7: Lab and the answer would be lab.
- 43:41Speaker 2: Lab would be the correct answer. There. Oh, Mackenzie is
- 43:45Speaker 2: throwing gear across the room.
- 43:47Speaker 7: Tensions are high.
- 43:50Speaker 2: She really wants to see this three way tiebreaker. Come
- 43:53Speaker 2: to fruition that what fish has a magnolia hybrid that's
- 43:58Speaker 2: created when crossing a white species with a black species.
- 44:02Speaker 2: Brody is hitting that Wilson pose again has come up
- 44:06Speaker 2: with an answer. Quite yet, we are waiting on him. No,
- 44:10Speaker 2: you haven't answers. Everybody else ready, Let's go go ahead
- 44:14Speaker 2: and reveal your answers. We have Hansey saying what's that say? Hanse,
- 44:18Speaker 2: Roy Mackenzie saying carp Chester saying, Marlon Brody saying bass,
- 44:25Speaker 2: Logan saying coyfish, Giannis saying goldfish. Randall's saying crappy. We
- 44:30Speaker 2: have a correct answer in the room. It's croppy. Random
- 44:36Speaker 2: got it right, Well done, Randall. With seven correct answers,
- 44:41Speaker 2: he gets the victory. A magnolia crappy is created when
- 44:45Speaker 2: crossing a female white crappy with a male black croppy.
- 44:50Speaker 2: This sterile hybrid was created by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife,
- 44:54Speaker 2: Fisheries and Parks in the nineteen nineties. They wanted to
- 44:57Speaker 2: have a panfish that could be stocked in small lake
- 45:00Speaker 2: and wouldn't be a threat to take them over. Now,
- 45:02Speaker 2: Brody was writing down bass because the species at large
- 45:06Speaker 2: is a black bass, but there are white bass that
- 45:09Speaker 2: are also a species, and he was ready to argue
- 45:13Speaker 2: that one of them is a species, one of them
- 45:15Speaker 2: is what probably a class or something like that. Is
- 45:18Speaker 2: that what you were going to go for.
- 45:19Speaker 3: That black bass aren't bass?
- 45:22Speaker 2: But the correct answer was crappy.
- 45:24Speaker 4: So Randall's are now down in Tennessee in a small
- 45:28Speaker 4: region they call crappie goldfish.
- 45:31Speaker 2: There you go, that's a good one. Swimming gold Randall,
- 45:35Speaker 2: you get to choose the let's go well, okay, even
- 45:40Speaker 2: if you get that right, Yanni, it doesn't matter because
- 45:43Speaker 2: Randall also got it right. He got seven, you got six.
- 45:46Speaker 4: Oh, we had one more question.
- 45:48Speaker 2: This was question ten, Randal, where is the five hundred
- 45:52Speaker 2: dollars donation for me deater going to go?
- 45:56Speaker 7: Let's give it to the Rocky Mountain Goat Alliance if we.
- 45:58Speaker 2: Haven't done them in quite a while? Like about them?
- 46:01Speaker 8: Well, goats are cool animals and they you know, they
- 46:06Speaker 8: sponsor a lot of citizens science field work and then
- 46:08Speaker 8: also support a lot of research.
- 46:10Speaker 2: And that you've been part of. Right, you've went and
- 46:12Speaker 2: down the goat count.
- 46:13Speaker 8: Yes, and you know, thinking ahead to Applications and Fall
- 46:19Speaker 8: of twenty twenty four. I'd really like to have a
- 46:21Speaker 8: goat tag in my pocket, so just the again, it's.
- 46:24Speaker 7: All about me.
- 46:25Speaker 8: I wasn't planning that, but now it requires some introspection,
- 46:29Speaker 8: but been thinking about goats a lot lately.
- 46:32Speaker 2: Well done, Randalls, Hoping for a tie breaker there we
- 46:35Speaker 2: were primed to have one, Brody couldn't do it. Join
- 46:39Speaker 2: us next time for more Meat Eat or Trivia, the
