- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Hi there and welcome back to another episode of the Foundations We Lay, where we explore the patterns, choices, and relationships that shape our lives and the families we build.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: So, first, how has this summer been for you?
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: I hope it has been well.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: For some days, I know it's been very hot, and for other days, it was okay.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: It was great.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: Um, but if this has not been a great summer for you and you feel like you've been through a crushing and maybe a pressing time, um, I pray and hope that you were able to at least see the beauty that was surrounding you, even when it felt like you were in chaos.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: I also hope that you were able to seize opportunities that were placed before you, no matter what the circumstance was at the time.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: So, in the midst of chaos, may you find something that is even beautiful in the moment, and that gives you pause to inhale and exhale and to practice and express, express gratitude even for that moment.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: So, if you have not caught the buzz, there are some of us who are in the middle of transitions.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: And previously I have talked about forgiveness and letting go, but I wanted to continue that conversation just a little bit more because it's very prevalent on the journey of going from point A to point B.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: And that doesn't always mean that a physical uproot is going to take place, meaning that you're going to physically be uh relocated from where you are to somewhere else.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: It can look like going from being broken to healed, from being stuck in fear and doubt to walking by faith and victory.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: It can look like having a mindset shift and doing what you said you would do, shifting your perspective of what the world looks like to you on a daily basis.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: So we get to apply this to a variety of areas in our lives and look at what we may need to do to uproot not just what's happening externally, but also what's happening inside of us as well.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: So before we get to the desired destination, before we cross over to our promises, we get to let go.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: A process that we can try to do quickly, but if we find ourselves doing it quickly, you may see that you have to go back to the steps that you have skipped over because you missed some important bricks that is important in laying down the foundation for your next.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: So don't try to skip over your process.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: Go through it and go through it well without the murmuring, without complaining.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: Of course, there are times where we're like, oh my gosh, this is a lot.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: But don't get to a place where you find yourself like constantly complaining about what's happening.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: It's a transition, so it's not permanent.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: When letting go, we look at the external process of people and things being removed.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: But when you think about it, as we declutter, as we leave an environment we have outgrown, we may feel physically or mentally lighter.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: What we see on the outside, the external, can be a symbolic visualization of what's taking place on the inside.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: Somewhere down the line as we journey through life, we may have picked up emotional, spiritual, and physical attachments, including belief systems that have developed and fortified themselves in our lives.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: So here's a quick nugget.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: Just because you believe something doesn't mean that it is true.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: So this means that if you have picked up a belief along the way, whether about yourself or someone else, doesn't mean that it's necessarily true.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: Just because a system has been in place for decades or even nearly a century, it doesn't mean that that system in place is good for you.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: It doesn't mean that that system is good for others.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: And it doesn't mean that that system cannot be replaced.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: It may be time for a new system.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: So regarding attachments that can occur, let's go back to that.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: When we connect with people, that connection does not just come with a body.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: The connection can involve developing a likeness similar to the other person, like laughing in a similar manner, beginning to watch certain shows together that you may find yourself liking, developing similar beliefs if they are not already shared, and even displaying a shared dialect or way of speaking.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: The connection is more than just linking with a body physically.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: And we know this because when experiencing a physical separation from someone, it can have an impact on our emotions and our spirit.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: Depending on the person or depending on the relationship, some of us may rejoice about the separation.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: Some may grieve or feel a heaviness because what has taken place feels like a loss.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: It is the memories that have been made along the way that makes a huge impact.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: The shared memories of intimate conversations, having a great time at an outing, finally releasing a secret to someone that only you have known.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: It could also involve remembering a time of embarrassment or even feeling humiliated by someone you love.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: The memories.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: This is not just physical.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: As mentioned is spiritual as well.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: As words are sown into lives, spoken over businesses, spoken over what you share you would like to do in your life.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: It is the invisible roots that can become deeply established in these areas.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: So whether positive or not, we get to respond to the seeds that are sown.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: If aligned with your purpose, let the seeds be watered and let them be nurtured.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: If it is contrary to the words spoken over your very being and your makeup since the beginning of time, uproot and destroy the seeds, or the seeds will grow and try to choke out the life of the areas spoken over.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: The challenge may come in holding on to painful memories of how you were hurt by others.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: When I say holding on to painful memories, I'm not talking to or referring to remembering the memories.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: I am referring to the memory of the pain and choosing to hold on to the pain associated with the event.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: We can remember, but it's something about feeding the memory that helps it to stay in the mind.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: It's not always intentional to make a dwelling space for the memory of pain, but it happens.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: We get very familiar with the emotions, with the smells of the event, everything that may have taken place in that moment.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: So when we resurrect the memory to relive it over and over again, then we seek forms of validation for the pain that was felt, to then get justification, maybe from others, of holding on to sadness, holding on to anger, holding on to guilt, hatred, and bitterness.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: We feed the memory of pain, allowing it to grow and dwell in a space that was meant for something else that is for your betterment.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: Resurrecting painful memories like this can sometimes lead to it becoming an idol.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: You can remember and reflect, but feeding the memory of pain to become even stronger in your life also makes room for deception to come in.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: Believing that you will never be free from that thing.
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: And in a sense, it has become worshipped.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: So you may not even be able to see yourself without it.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: But do you want to be free from this thing?
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: Because you can be made well in this area.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: It may be something that you are used to, but your life can still be good.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: It can be well, it can be healthy, even without the memory of pain being at the forefront.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: Someone may listen to this podcast, to this episode, and feel that they are not honoring someone that they have lost.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: If they do not keep sadness alive, if they don't display their sadness for the individual that may have passed, that may have disconnected.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: But holding on to sadness does not prove that you love someone.
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: So you can allow yourself the time and the space to heal and to know that you can move forward in life.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: Don't allow this thing to be a crutch and be the reason why you don't pursue greatness, why you don't pursue being made whole.
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: In all the pain that has been endured, there's also a time to reflect on how far you have come.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: To know that you didn't quit, though you probably wanted to do that many times.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: There may have also been pauses and breaks, but you get to continue to get up and move forward.
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: And for that, I'm very proud of you.
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: I also want to tell you that though you may have been moving for many years, maybe months, you may not always have been going in the right direction to where you need to go.
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: So, yes, the moment still stands that yes, I'm proud of you for getting up and never giving up, and continuing to move forward, but it is time for a reroute in the right direction.
- 9:42SPEAKER_00: One of the reasons why you may not have gotten to your promised destination and may have been going in the wrong direction is because you have the wrong things with you.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: I'll start by saying, even when it comes to people being connected to the wrong individuals for your destiny, for your purpose, can literally have you stuck.
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: Um, as some of them, as mentioned earlier, may sow seeds of doubt.
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: Their motives may not be pure.
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: And sometimes there's nothing wrong with the individual at all.
- 10:16SPEAKER_00: They're just not connected to your journey and which will get you to your purpose.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: And sometimes these are the very things that we grow strong attachments to, and we get stuck in a place because we are familiar and comfortable with it.
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: Someone may be listening that has been going in circles for years.
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: You may even have started a business, continue to help people uh meet their needs and give them extra support.
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: You may also still be completing your responsibilities along the way.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: But your journey that you've been on has been longer than what it needs to be in some areas.
- 10:50SPEAKER_00: And you there may be frustration because you don't see the fruit or the harvest as much as you would like to compared to the amount of work that you have done over the years.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: But some of the voids that you have been filling and have filled with work is really just busy work.
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: So there may have been accomplishments gained, it's not in vain, but those may not have been the specified assignments that are connected to your purpose.
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: And that's why it was probably more so busy work, and there may feel like uh there's an exhaustion attached to you, but that's why this conversation is being had today.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: So you may have been slowed down because you may have picked up too many bags, too many responsibilities, and you're trying to take way too much with you to the next place, including people.
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: So the dilemma may appear to be to leave everything behind or go alone.
- 11:49SPEAKER_00: And just having those two things there may seem like it's very scary and may prevent you from wanting to move forward at all, because it's like I'm here and everything may not be the best, but I have these people over here with me who I consider friends, I have this job here, and I have other things that seem to be working for me right now, but there's something internally that's letting you know there's more for you.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: So, to a degree, yes, leave things behind, yes, go alone, but you cannot pass go with all of these things in your hand.
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: For some people, it may look like people have naturally been separated from you, and these are things that are naturally falling off as you get closer and closer to that place of your journey.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: But as they fall off naturally, there doesn't have to be any tension or anything, you may find yourself bringing them right back in, trying to reconnect the very thing that is being severed.
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: So for others, it may also look like being in a relationship that's not working out no matter what, no matter how hard you try, but you continue to force fit the situation.
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: And that not only can contribute to increased tension, but it not just hurts you, but the other person and other people that are involved.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: You may also say that you can never see yourself going to certain places and doing certain things, which is also another area that is holding you back.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: So beliefs were mentioned earlier because of this very thing.
- 13:34SPEAKER_00: The preferences that we hold and the limitations that we place on ourselves may be hindering our success walk.
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: So the very thing that you say you can't imagine doing or the places you can't imagine yourself going may be the very areas and spaces where you are supposed to be planting and building in.
- 13:53SPEAKER_00: This is the case because this the destination is not solely about you and your preferences, but rather what needs to come out of you.
- 14:04SPEAKER_00: That's that's why we're talking about purpose.
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: What skills do you possess, what talents, what gifts do you possess that needs to be distributed and planted here in the earth, in the areas that you're called to.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: But before you can go somewhere else to plant and to build, there are things that need to come out of you, so that the tools and the armor for your necks will be placed inside of you and on you, fortifying you to stand and maintain the promise so that it's not squandered or relinquished or forfeited.
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: So let there be an exchange of the old for the new.
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: Exchange slothfulness for diligence, exchange fear for faith, low self-worth for godly confidence.
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: You don't have to do things the same way that you've always done them.
- 14:56SPEAKER_00: And truthfully, where you're going, you you shouldn't.
- 14:59SPEAKER_00: And do know that you don't have to have all the ducks in a row, you don't have to have everything perfect in order to move forward.
- 15:07SPEAKER_00: Let go of what's necessary and go and make the adjustments before getting to the promise.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: If you would like to know what to take with you and what should be left behind, don't ask yourself, is this still serving me?
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: Rather ask yourself, is this aligned with my purpose?
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: Am I bringing this because of emotional ties or because it's necessary for the journey?
- 15:35SPEAKER_00: Am I bringing this because I want to please people and man?
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: What am I really doing this for?
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: Why am I bringing this?
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: So the dilemma mentioned earlier was to leave everything behind or go alone.
- 15:49SPEAKER_00: The things that withstand the fire and test are to go with you.
- 15:54SPEAKER_00: The things that fall apart in the fire, the things that show compromise and that don't stay are to remain where they are, apart from you.
- 16:03SPEAKER_00: So it may have served you for a specific time and season, or you may have even settled for that thing when you were supposed to have something else.
- 16:11SPEAKER_00: But it's time's up for that.
- 16:13SPEAKER_00: You won't be completely empty-handed, because remember, there is an exchange.
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: To the point of going along, it may start to seem that way when you begin your journey, but you will be connected with helpers to support you along the way.
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: Some people may help in passing, and some may be lifetime helpers.
- 16:34SPEAKER_00: This is just an encouragement to let you know to not allow what appears to be a low number of people supporting you to stop you from progressing.
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: You don't need an army of people behind you or even on the side of you to go forward.
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: Because when you are in godly purpose, all of heaven is backing you and the people and friends he connects you to are for good purpose.
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: When those people and those friends arrive, do not think that they are there to just help you feel good.
- 17:03SPEAKER_00: This is where we also get to change our beliefs and mindsets.
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: It's time to grow, it's time to elevate, it's time to grow higher.
- 17:10SPEAKER_00: Yes, the support will encourage and help you along the way, but they will also tell you what you need to hear and what you need to know.
- 17:19SPEAKER_00: So everyone involved in a relationship, including you, must do their part to sustain what is there and to grow it even greater.
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: Remember, this is so much bigger than you, though you will also reap the benefits and the awards of doing this journey.
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: So in letting go, you get to receive greater than what you have had before, emptying the currently occupied space for the thing connected to your purpose.
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: So in saying all that, I'm rooting for you.
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: Make the necessary adjustments and reroute because I believe that you will accomplish the very task that is before you as you release the bags to lighten the load, giving space for you to soar and fly high.

- 18:37SPEAKER_00: Until next time, love on yourself, be brave, and love on others.
