Transcript
- 0:13Speaker 2: What's up, y'all?
- 0:13Speaker 1: It's your boy, DJ Ben Amin, a.k.a. Halal Jordan, a.k.a.
- 0:18Speaker 1: In Blackish Night, here with the instant reaction to talk
- 0:22Speaker 1: about episode three of Lanterns. The episode is entitled Outcast.
- 0:30Speaker 1: In fact, I'm putting it on again in the background
- 0:32Speaker 1: right now. I just watched it, so this is my
- 0:36Speaker 1: first reaction. We are live on Twitch and on YouTube.
- 0:40Speaker 1: First of all, Big shout out to everybody out there.
- 0:43Speaker 1: We just hit 10K subscribers today. I mean today, right now,
- 0:49Speaker 1: as you are talking, as you are hearing me, we
- 0:51Speaker 1: hit 10K subscribers. So thank you very much. And if
- 0:56Speaker 1: you have not yet, make sure you hit that subscribe,
- 0:58Speaker 1: that like, that hype, all that good stuff on that
- 1:01Speaker 1: video right now.
- 1:02Speaker 2: I need that.
- 1:03Speaker 1: And now we can get into this joint. Lanterns episode three.
- 1:08Speaker 1: chat let me know what y'all thought about it entitled
- 1:11Speaker 1: outcast this episode was written by vanessa baden kelly she
- 1:16Speaker 1: is they are one of the producers on lanterns and
- 1:21Speaker 1: one of the writers obviously one of the big writers
- 1:24Speaker 1: you know when you get to that higher level that's
- 1:26Speaker 1: when you start writing whole episodes and you executive produce
- 1:29Speaker 1: episodes and that's what they did on this one Off top,
- 1:34Speaker 1: this joint was incredible. You know what I mean? Like,
- 1:36Speaker 1: black excellence in all its levels. That's, you know, it
- 1:40Speaker 1: was the theme of the episode, and it was exemplified
- 1:43Speaker 1: through the episode in the writing, in the directing, in
- 1:45Speaker 1: the acting, in everything. This was probably my favorite episode
- 1:50Speaker 1: of the series so far. I mean, the series has
- 1:52Speaker 1: been incredible straight through, but this joint right here, lit.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Super lit. Chat, what did y'all think? Let me see.
- 2:00Speaker 1: All right, we got The Jug, Zion Artist, Joseph, Toya Johnson,
- 2:05Speaker 1: White People Gonna Be Mad Tonight, Stay Mad, Word Up.
- 2:09Speaker 1: I think somebody already said that. Yeah, Zion Artist said
- 2:13Speaker 1: they're glad to catch it. Oh, yeah, Daniel Jones. Daniel
- 2:16Speaker 1: was saying that, I love her for myself, but I
- 2:18Speaker 1: know based on this episode, some white folks are that anti-woke.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Ain't gonna like what his mama was saying in this episode,
- 2:27Speaker 1: True indeed. We've already distrust this on our lanterns reviews
- 2:31Speaker 1: because some people have said, you know, they don't like
- 2:33Speaker 1: to see politics or that type of thing in their entertainment,
- 2:38Speaker 1: which I tell people again and again is pure bullshit.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Basically what it is, you don't like it when you
- 2:43Speaker 2: disagree with it. You know what I mean?
- 2:45Speaker 1: When you agree with the politics in episodes or in art, whatever,
- 2:48Speaker 1: you don't even care about it.
- 2:49Speaker 2: You don't even notice it for the most part.
- 2:51Speaker 1: And usually most politics are upholding the status quo, so
- 2:56Speaker 1: of course you don't disagree with it because you agree
- 2:59Speaker 1: with the status quo, you know? People like me and
- 3:02Speaker 1: others don't, and so I love to see things like this.
- 3:05Speaker 1: I thought this episode, and, you know, as we are
- 3:08Speaker 1: shouting people out, let me shout out Jasmine Cephas Jones,
- 3:13Speaker 1: who portrayed the mother of John in this episode and
- 3:18Speaker 1: did God's work.
- 3:19Speaker 2: You know what I mean? I mean, just.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Absolutely incredible work. We'd already seen, you know, John Sr. And,
- 3:26Speaker 1: you know, of course, I don't have the actor's name
- 3:28Speaker 1: on top. If somebody can drop it in the chat
- 3:30Speaker 1: for me, because I don't want to stop to look.
- 3:32Speaker 2: It up right now.
- 3:33Speaker 1: But, you know, we already know that man puts in
- 3:35Speaker 1: the work. And then we got to see Jasmine, Miss Jones,
- 3:39Speaker 1: you know. I mean, she owned this episode. They owned
- 3:44Speaker 1: this episode from beginning to end. It was incredible work.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Also got to shout out Laura Linney. who always, you
- 3:51Speaker 1: know what I mean, Laura always comes through, but I didn't,
- 3:53Speaker 1: I've never seen Jasmine up to my knowledge, and.
- 3:56Speaker 2: They did that thing, man, they did.
- 4:00Speaker 1: It, all right, so, chat, once again, everybody is saying,
- 4:04Speaker 1: Jameson says this episode was pure fire, Daniel Jones says,
- 4:09Speaker 1: fun fact, she's also the daughter from Gullah Gullah Island,
- 4:12Speaker 1: I did not know that, People are really going to
- 4:17Speaker 1: be mad at this episode. I haven't been this invested
- 4:20Speaker 1: in a show since Stand-Up. Comics are dope. Let's do it, fam. Yo,
- 4:23Speaker 1: we're going to have to get you on this next
- 4:24Speaker 1: live joint. I wanted to get you on this one,
- 4:26Speaker 1: but we'll definitely get you on the next week one.
- 4:29Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Shout out to everybody in
- 4:31Speaker 2: the chat. Boogie, you're J. Alphonse. Thank you, Zion and
- 4:36Speaker 2: all this. Yes, J.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Alphonse did the thing. I mean, yo, everyone in this episode,
- 4:42Speaker 1: I mean, we already know Aaron Pierre, you know, obviously
- 4:45Speaker 1: has been killing it, John. There's so much I want
- 4:49Speaker 1: to talk about, but first of all, like the whole
- 4:54Speaker 1: family being in on it was something that I thought
- 4:57Speaker 1: about and it's wild to see. Like this episode is
- 5:01Speaker 1: so crazy because it really hits home for so much
- 5:05Speaker 1: that I know a lot of black people grew up with,
- 5:08Speaker 1: where it was like you had to, I mean, go
- 5:12Speaker 1: above and beyond isn't even the word, but it's just,
- 5:16Speaker 1: Having to live up to standards that are impossible to
- 5:19Speaker 1: live up to. And like they said in the end
- 5:22Speaker 1: of it, you know, even if you don't reach that excellence,
- 5:25Speaker 1: good is still good enough. But it's tough for us
- 5:29Speaker 1: to even live with that. I mean, man, you know,
- 5:31Speaker 1: there's so much like I was sitting there watching it.
- 5:34Speaker 1: And one thing that I was really struck by was
- 5:37Speaker 1: I was wondering, do black people have to live in fear?
- 5:41Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 5:42Speaker 1: Like, is that really our state of being, at least
- 5:45Speaker 1: in America? I know that's not the state of being
- 5:49Speaker 1: everywhere in the world because I've been other places in
- 5:51Speaker 1: the world and I did not feel like the constant fear.
- 5:54Speaker 1: But I have to say that, yeah, man, like at
- 5:56Speaker 1: least for me, living in America, I feel like we
- 6:00Speaker 1: do live in a state of constant fear. And that's
- 6:02Speaker 1: something that is tough to accept, to think about, to
- 6:08Speaker 1: talk about.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Whew. Yo.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Yo, shout out to Jameson Childress with the $ 10 drop.
- 6:16Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Thank you for that, yo.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Showing love from Scepter 202. It's the Green Lantern of
- 6:21Speaker 1: Howard University.
- 6:23Speaker 2: H-U.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Appreciate you doing a live review. Appreciate you doing a
- 6:29Speaker 1: live review, bro.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Thank you. Thank you.
- 6:31Speaker 1: I do too, man. You know, I am like, I'm
- 6:34Speaker 1: in on it. Like someone else said, I ain't been
- 6:36Speaker 1: in this. I didn't watch the end all like this.
- 6:38Speaker 1: But I haven't been this invested in a show since Watchmen.
- 6:40Speaker 1: I can say that. I'm really loving that it's week
- 6:43Speaker 1: to week so that we get to talk about it
- 6:44Speaker 1: like this. Let me see what the chat's talking about
- 6:47Speaker 1: real quick.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Let's see. I'm in fear that they'll take this show
- 6:55Speaker 2: away after this episode. You know what I mean?
- 6:58Speaker 1: Like, it feels like Wonder Man once again, right?
- 7:02Speaker 2: You know, you get something so beautiful and so great, and,
- 7:05Speaker 2: you know, how can they keep giving it to us?
- 7:07Speaker 2: I have no idea.
- 7:08Speaker 1: As Shay Black says, if DC keeps up with this,
- 7:14Speaker 1: then they're about to blow Marvel out of the water.
- 7:16Speaker 2: That is... I mean, this... Yeah, fam. Like, this episode was... It's...
- 7:25Speaker 2: There's so much, like... People were talking about that.
- 7:30Speaker 1: You know, we had this discussion on the show when
- 7:32Speaker 1: people were saying they didn't want to see how race,
- 7:35Speaker 1: someone actually said race derailed Watchmen.
- 7:38Speaker 2: And for me to.
- 7:39Speaker 1: See blackness like this on a show, to see blackness
- 7:42Speaker 1: portrayed like this on a show, because it's so rare
- 7:45Speaker 1: that you get to see purity like that on something.
- 7:52Speaker 1: You know, I don't know how you can say it
- 7:53Speaker 1: could ever derail something. I can only say that it
- 7:56Speaker 1: only brings greatness to the table. It's just like when
- 7:58Speaker 1: we got to see Sinners, you know, we'd never seen
- 8:01Speaker 1: something like that. It's just like when we get to
- 8:02Speaker 1: see Get Out and any other Jordan Peele production. It's
- 8:05Speaker 1: like you don't get to see these type of things.
- 8:08Speaker 1: And so when you get to see them, it's such
- 8:09Speaker 1: a rarity and it's so crazy to see because it
- 8:13Speaker 1: just brings so much character and so much flavor to
- 8:16Speaker 1: what could otherwise.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Be a bland show about Green Lanterns. Yeah, this is stupid.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Danny Joy, I love seeing both parents are still alive.
- 8:28Speaker 1: All episode, I was sitting there thinking that at some point,
- 8:32Speaker 1: John is going to shoot the mom, and I was not.
- 8:35Speaker 1: I'm so happy the restraint that they did not go there. Yeah,
- 8:40Speaker 1: and like you said, I'm so happy that the parents
- 8:42Speaker 1: are both still alive because even though this family is
- 8:45Speaker 1: filled with so much trauma, it's amazing to see that
- 8:49Speaker 1: we'll get to see them grow and hopefully recover from
- 8:53Speaker 1: some of the trauma that that their lives have been
- 8:56Speaker 1: so far. Jameson said, I even appreciate how they brought
- 9:02Speaker 1: up race from the perspective versus the Guardians and humans.
- 9:06Speaker 1: And let's talk about that because I thought that was
- 9:09Speaker 1: really ill as well. The name of the Guardian was
- 9:11Speaker 1: Lianys and that was portrayed by Laura Linney. And I
- 9:15Speaker 1: thought that was really dope because It just showed like
- 9:19Speaker 1: you can give this woman this giant ass diamond. And
- 9:21Speaker 1: what could a black woman do like do with a
- 9:24Speaker 1: diamond like that? Nothing for real. You know, the cops
- 9:27Speaker 1: are going to come investigate you. They eventually did get
- 9:30Speaker 1: to sell it and use the money for, you know,
- 9:32Speaker 1: all the training and the path that they were on.
- 9:35Speaker 1: But just that just the idea that when John is approached,
- 9:40Speaker 1: of course, he's going to be in fear because he's
- 9:42Speaker 1: in fear for his family. You know, and that would
- 9:45Speaker 1: have made him the perfect Green Lantern, like they said
- 9:47Speaker 1: in the after show. But that fear and immediately, you know,
- 9:52Speaker 1: X's him out. And the Guardians are aware that their
- 9:56Speaker 1: recruitment process isn't the best. So that's why when they
- 9:59Speaker 1: come to. John Jr., it's much better with him. Trauma
- 10:05Speaker 1: bonds people, Toya. Yeah, true indeed. That is truth because
- 10:10Speaker 1: I've been through some traumatic situations in my life and
- 10:14Speaker 1: it's definitely bonded me. with people who I didn't know
- 10:17Speaker 1: before those instances, and it's bonded me for life with them.
- 10:20Speaker 1: So I feel that 100%. One thing I want to
- 10:23Speaker 1: touch on is, I mean, there were so many bars
- 10:25Speaker 1: from Bernadette. That was John's mom. She dropped so many
- 10:30Speaker 1: bars in this episode. But one of the most beautiful
- 10:34Speaker 1: ones was courage is fear that has said its prayers.
- 10:37Speaker 2: I thought that was such a.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Incredible line man you know i mean i had to
- 10:43Speaker 1: sit there and you know it just hit me like
- 10:45Speaker 1: chills up the spine talking about like courage is fear
- 10:49Speaker 1: that has said his prayers was absolutely incredible and just
- 10:56Speaker 1: again so much blackness you know to see a black
- 11:00Speaker 1: mom and a black dad raising their black son and
- 11:03Speaker 1: the you know knowing the things that he has to
- 11:05Speaker 1: face to put him out into the world I mean,
- 11:09Speaker 1: we talk about the shooting, the apple off the head
- 11:11Speaker 1: and how traumatic that is. But also, you know, in
- 11:14Speaker 1: this episode, we see John being abandoned. You know, we
- 11:16Speaker 1: see him being an outcast. We see his own family
- 11:20Speaker 1: not understanding him. Once again, all those levels of blackness
- 11:26Speaker 1: when his own little brothers are saying, oh, you talk
- 11:29Speaker 1: like a white guy named Henry. You know, it's all
- 11:32Speaker 1: these things that we as a people, we experience it.
- 11:36Speaker 1: And all of us, especially a lot of nerds out there,
- 11:38Speaker 1: have probably experienced it themselves where they felt like the outcast,
- 11:43Speaker 1: where they felt like the one who, you know, couldn't
- 11:46Speaker 1: relate to other people of their, you know, other black people.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Whew, man. man man man.
- 11:56Speaker 1: What an episode right uh xylan artist says when she
- 11:59Speaker 1: sent john this art school i felt emotional as f
- 12:02Speaker 1: man like it was that was very beautiful for me
- 12:07Speaker 1: because we get to see that side of john that
- 12:09Speaker 1: we know from the comics you know the architect the
- 12:12Speaker 1: artist when he put that watch together when he made
- 12:14Speaker 1: that construct that was the emotional moment for me Because, like,
- 12:18Speaker 1: we saw it being created from the inside out. You know,
- 12:21Speaker 1: how John does things. I almost jumped out of my
- 12:26Speaker 1: seat right there, yo. Like, there was that. You know,
- 12:29Speaker 1: just absolutely incredible. Available now at ForAllNerds.com. The Gucci Mandalorian.
- 12:37Speaker 2: The Variants. The Dunkin' A. The Lion-O-Richie. New designs coming soon.
- 12:45Speaker 2: But yeah, all right. So, oh, shout out to Daniel
- 12:47Speaker 2: Jones with the 20 bomb. Wow. It's crazy in here
- 12:51Speaker 2: right now. Hold up.
- 12:53Speaker 1: This is why it's important to have black writers and
- 12:55Speaker 1: artists and comics to explore these backgrounds for these characters.
- 12:59Speaker 1: While you may have good white writers and comics, shout
- 13:02Speaker 1: out to the one and only Jonathan Hittman, but that
- 13:06Speaker 1: doesn't have our experiences for it to be explored.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Word up.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Like, hey, you know, as a black comic writer myself,
- 13:14Speaker 1: I feel that a thousand percent. As a black writer
- 13:17Speaker 1: in Hollywood, I feel that a thousand percent. Thank you
- 13:20Speaker 1: for that love, you know, once again on that.
- 13:23Speaker 2: But for real, like.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Vanessa was talking about in the after show when she
- 13:29Speaker 1: was saying, when they were saying that there isn't a
- 13:32Speaker 1: real origin story for John. And I didn't really know that.
- 13:35Speaker 1: I know, you know, John, you know, he gets the ring,
- 13:37Speaker 1: et cetera. Sometimes he's a sniper. Sometimes he's an architect.
- 13:41Speaker 1: but I didn't know that we never got into John's
- 13:44Speaker 1: family like that. I did not know that into an
- 13:46Speaker 1: actual origin story. And now this is where I'm actually like, yo,
- 13:53Speaker 1: I love this episode, but it's also one of those things.
- 13:55Speaker 1: It's like, damn, you know, the black man gets the
- 13:59Speaker 1: harsh ass origin story, doesn't he? But again, I love
- 14:03Speaker 1: the realism that that brings to the table.
- 14:05Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 14:06Speaker 1: Because once again, that is how we are trained and it's,
- 14:10Speaker 1: Sad to say that we have to say train, but
- 14:12Speaker 1: that is how we are raised in this country. You know,
- 14:14Speaker 1: you have to have no fear, but you also have
- 14:18Speaker 1: to know, you know, all these things are always out
- 14:22Speaker 1: to get you as a black person in America.
- 14:27Speaker 2: It's crazy. The levels, man, crazy levels.
- 14:31Speaker 1: James said, when John said, I've lived in the same
- 14:34Speaker 1: house with my family for 18 years, I grew up
- 14:37Speaker 1: missing them.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Right.
- 14:41Speaker 1: I mean, Lord have mercy. You are never lying, fam. No,
- 14:54Speaker 1: there was a lot. There's a lot to unpack.
- 14:56Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 14:57Speaker 1: We're going to have our full review, of course, dropping Tuesday.
- 15:00Speaker 1: But I just wanted to do this live. We're going
- 15:02Speaker 1: to be doing these lives every Sunday night. I'm not
- 15:05Speaker 1: sure if I'll be here next week. We'll see who's
- 15:07Speaker 1: going to be doing it. But we'll figure that out.
- 15:08Speaker 1: But yeah, every Sunday night, we're going to be having
- 15:10Speaker 1: these lives to discuss it. because Lanterns has just been
- 15:13Speaker 1: an incredible show so far, and I just have so
- 15:16Speaker 1: much to talk about. Another thing that we need to
- 15:21Speaker 1: talk about is Hal Jordan in this episode, because Midwest
- 15:27Speaker 1: Hudstables is some of the wildest-ish, and once again, some
- 15:33Speaker 1: of the most realistic, All right, like I grew up,
- 15:38Speaker 1: you know, my best friend, literally my best friend growing
- 15:41Speaker 1: up is a Jewish kid, Zev.
- 15:43Speaker 2: I'm still super tight with Zev to this day.
- 15:45Speaker 1: And we've discussed this, like, you know, I grew up
- 15:48Speaker 1: around a lot of white people, just like I grew
- 15:50Speaker 1: up black people. Like I grew up in Houston, Texas,
- 15:52Speaker 1: where Third Ward, which is historically black neighborhood, and I
- 15:56Speaker 1: was bused to a school full of everyone. So I
- 15:58Speaker 1: just grew up with everyone around me. And stuff like
- 16:02Speaker 1: Midwest Huxtables is the type of, What do they say?
- 16:06Speaker 1: Microaggressions that you would just hear from white people all
- 16:09Speaker 1: of the time. Like I'll never forget. We were watching
- 16:12Speaker 1: Terminator as a kid with Zev's parents. And when the
- 16:16Speaker 1: black cop showed up on screen, they're like, Oh Ben,
- 16:18Speaker 1: there you go. And then, you know, 10 minutes later
- 16:21Speaker 1: when the black cop did shot, they're like, Oh Ben,
- 16:24Speaker 1: you know, and I'm sitting there like.
- 16:25Speaker 2: I do nothing like this Negro and fuck cops. You
- 16:31Speaker 2: know what I mean?
- 16:31Speaker 1: So, Yeah, that was one of them ones, yo. Midwest
- 16:35Speaker 1: Huxtables was one of them ones where I'm just sitting
- 16:39Speaker 1: there like, what are you talking about, Hal? You are,
- 16:44Speaker 1: just like we said last week, the arrogance, the privilege
- 16:48Speaker 1: that Hal Jordan exemplifies. I mean, he is a white
- 16:52Speaker 1: man who is a test pilot. You know, pilots in
- 16:55Speaker 1: general have to be a bit fearless, a bit arrogant,
- 16:58Speaker 1: and to be a test pilot to fly planes... that
- 17:01Speaker 1: might crash every time you go out into them. It's
- 17:04Speaker 1: pure arrogance. So we see it all the way through. Chad,
- 17:08Speaker 1: let me see what y'all talking about real quick. The
- 17:13Speaker 1: way Lil Jon rapped AT Aliens broke my heart. He
- 17:17Speaker 1: knew the words, but not how to say them. It's
- 17:20Speaker 1: not just because he was listening through a wall. It's
- 17:23Speaker 1: also because he was raised, you know, as different, where
- 17:26Speaker 1: he's not raised to be in the blackness.
- 17:29Speaker 2: You know, he's raised to be.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Like they said, classical music and stuff he's listening to,
- 17:33Speaker 1: so he's not, you know, he's not saying, oh, yeah,
- 17:36Speaker 1: you know, he's not getting it, like, man, couldn't be
- 17:42Speaker 1: easy for John, because now we love him even more,
- 17:44Speaker 1: word up, like, word up, got Hal's straight ass on
- 17:50Speaker 1: his old age, but Hal has always been an asshole,
- 17:54Speaker 1: that's the Hal Jordan that I knew in the comics, like, Spoilers,
- 17:58Speaker 1: Hal Jordan does a lot of wild out stuff, and
- 18:02Speaker 1: I mean wild out stuff in the comics, so that
- 18:05Speaker 1: was nothing. Hal gave me pure veteran QB feeling threatened
- 18:09Speaker 1: by that rookie energy word up. What was that joint
- 18:12Speaker 1: with Marlon Wayans? Oh my God, what's the name of
- 18:17Speaker 1: that wild out ass movie that I saw? Reviews on
- 18:21Speaker 1: For All Nerds, I cannot remember the name of it,
- 18:23Speaker 1: but Marlon Wayans did do an excellent job in that
- 18:25Speaker 1: crazy ass movie. All right, let me see what I
- 18:27Speaker 1: got else for y'all. What else do we want to
- 18:30Speaker 1: talk about before we get up out of here? Okay,
- 18:33Speaker 1: there was a few things that were solved this episode
- 18:36Speaker 1: because I know a lot of people have been going
- 18:38Speaker 1: all over with the theories. And especially that one shot
- 18:43Speaker 1: of the Guardian revealing themselves to Bernadette had people, you know...
- 18:48Speaker 1: I'm imagining everything in the world about that. I know
- 18:53Speaker 1: people thought that that might be the Martian Manhunter because
- 18:56Speaker 1: of the cross on the back.
- 18:58Speaker 2: All kind of things. I know the Martians in general
- 19:01Speaker 2: have been brought up a lot. I feel like this
- 19:03Speaker 2: episode is.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Really narrowing things down for what, you know, is going
- 19:08Speaker 1: to be in this season at least. And I'm happy
- 19:12Speaker 1: for that. You know, I mean, I'm really happy for that.
- 19:14Speaker 1: So we have confirmed that was a Guardian that was
- 19:17Speaker 1: not a Manhunter. That was not the Martian Manhunter. And
- 19:21Speaker 1: I do not think we will be seeing the white
- 19:23Speaker 1: or green Martians in this series, perhaps. But I'm going to,
- 19:27Speaker 1: you know, probably get that. I don't think so.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not sure. Him.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Yeah, Toya, thank you. That was the name of that joint.
- 19:37Speaker 1: And yeah, definitely giving more any given Sunday. Shout out
- 19:40Speaker 1: to the.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Legend, Steeming. Willie, wait, Steeming. Yes, Willie Beamon. Yeah, Steeming
- 19:48Speaker 2: Willie Beamon. Oh, like.
- 19:50Speaker 1: It down shout out to you in the house just
- 19:52Speaker 1: finished watching it yeah definitely so good one of the
- 19:55Speaker 1: best episodes for me of the season incredible um yeah
- 20:02Speaker 1: like i said i mentioned everything about that I really
- 20:05Speaker 1: want to know where his brothers, Marcus and Aaron, are
- 20:08Speaker 1: at right now, what is going on with them, and
- 20:11Speaker 1: I really hope, and I don't even have to hope,
- 20:12Speaker 1: I know we're going to see more from them, because
- 20:15Speaker 1: I really trust the writing and everything else that's been
- 20:17Speaker 1: going on on this show right now, so I'm not
- 20:19Speaker 1: even worried about that, but it will be interesting to
- 20:22Speaker 1: see what is going on with them, because like I say,
- 20:25Speaker 1: it was interesting to see how the whole family was
- 20:27Speaker 1: in on it, how Marcus and Aaron have the alienation,
- 20:31Speaker 1: just like john has in a different way you know
- 20:35Speaker 1: from his family everyone in this family has a lot
- 20:38Speaker 1: of trauma i mean we see john shooting out tvs
- 20:41Speaker 1: and barking on the mom in front of the boys
- 20:45Speaker 1: when they're very young so they see all this they
- 20:47Speaker 1: grow up with hearing the gunshots of john getting apple
- 20:50Speaker 1: shot off his head so i'd love.
- 20:52Speaker 2: To see what's going on with them.
- 20:56Speaker 1: And i did want to mention a couple things it
- 20:58Speaker 1: was dope scene the little boom tube i think that's
- 21:01Speaker 1: what there was when john stepped through it because it
- 21:03Speaker 1: made the booming noise so i figure boom tube whenever
- 21:06Speaker 1: i see the booming.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Noise and uh.
- 21:14Speaker 1: What john talking to the guardian and saying you can't
- 21:17Speaker 1: explain family to someone.
- 21:18Speaker 2: Who doesn't have one was a reed And.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Also interesting because John's family is so effed up that
- 21:26Speaker 1: it's really interesting that he still considers it family, you know, when.
- 21:32Speaker 2: But I guess we all do, you know, and it
- 21:34Speaker 2: boils down to it.
- 21:35Speaker 1: We all got effed up families and we still are
- 21:38Speaker 1: all going to consider them, you know, our families.
- 21:40Speaker 2: So, yeah. All right.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Let me see chat before we get out of here.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Like I said, you know, we'll be back on Tuesday
- 21:48Speaker 1: with the full review. We got a very special guest
- 21:51Speaker 1: this week, you know, for all nerds family.
- 21:53Speaker 2: But let me show.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Daniel Jones said when they showed the Guardian transformation had
- 21:58Speaker 1: my hands up like I wasn't expecting that. Now I
- 22:01Speaker 1: was waiting for that. It'll be interesting to see if
- 22:05Speaker 1: they keep how in the DCU moving forward. He and
- 22:08Speaker 1: John got nowhere to go from here.
- 22:10Speaker 2: I mean.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Right now, the Howes, we know, you know, got a
- 22:13Speaker 1: bullet in their head, so it will be interesting to
- 22:16Speaker 1: see if they keep down the DCU moving forward.
- 22:21Speaker 2: We shall see about that.
- 22:25Speaker 1: The Way of Chun-Li says white people on Reddit are
- 22:28Speaker 1: mad already?
- 22:29Speaker 2: Already? Like, they mad already? Already?
- 22:36Speaker 1: Oh my god i love it actually i can't i
- 22:39Speaker 1: can't lie i love it i mean stay mad like
- 22:43Speaker 1: this is nothing but truth in this episode that's why
- 22:46Speaker 1: it's i think that's what makes people upset you know
- 22:48Speaker 1: because like you know tom cruise told him you can't
- 22:51Speaker 1: handle the truth right it's you know i mean not
- 22:53Speaker 1: tom jack nicholson told tom you can't handle the truth
- 22:56Speaker 1: you know i mean it's a lot of people can't
- 22:59Speaker 1: and that's why they say they don't like their you
- 23:01Speaker 1: know to hear about politics and art etc like I
- 23:05Speaker 1: posted this on thread today. Someone brought it up again,
- 23:08Speaker 1: how zombie mythology comes from Haiti and it comes, the
- 23:13Speaker 1: original zombie stories were black slaves worrying that they'd be
- 23:17Speaker 1: worked so much to death that they would still have
- 23:19Speaker 1: to work after they died as slaves. So that's the
- 23:25Speaker 1: original zombie mythology. And then, you know, people like George
- 23:27Speaker 1: Romero heard these stories and took it back to America
- 23:30Speaker 1: and And made zombie movies and billions of dollars off
- 23:34Speaker 1: of it. And took all the blackness and all the
- 23:35Speaker 1: history out of it. But that's most of our art.
- 23:40Speaker 1: A large percentage of it traces back to black people
- 23:45Speaker 1: and black people's trauma. Especially in America. And it's hard
- 23:49Speaker 1: for people to accept that. That's just the way it is. Yeah,
- 23:55Speaker 1: that is just.
- 23:56Speaker 2: The way it is.
- 23:59Speaker 1: I hope Kyle Raynor doesn't get hazed. I was already
- 24:01Speaker 1: saying that people are going to say that was Kyle
- 24:03Speaker 1: Rayner walking out of the door, even though he looked
- 24:06Speaker 1: like he was as old as.
- 24:07Speaker 2: John when John was getting interviewed.
- 24:09Speaker 1: But the way that people are trying to make every
- 24:11Speaker 1: connection on this show happen, I'm already saying that they're
- 24:14Speaker 1: going to call that Kyle Rayner, if not that some
- 24:16Speaker 1: other white Green Lantern that I don't know about. It's
- 24:21Speaker 1: like Chun-Li said, people have no idea what we've created,
- 24:24Speaker 1: like rock music, for example. As the author of Jimi Hendrix,
- 24:27Speaker 1: Purple Haze, in stores now, you can see the copies
- 24:30Speaker 1: behind me.
- 24:31Speaker 2: Make sure you pick that up if you haven't already.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Black people created every form of music in America other
- 24:37Speaker 1: than what is it? Polka, I think, and bluegrass, right?
- 24:44Speaker 1: I think that's it. Other than that, we created every
- 24:46Speaker 1: form of music in America. Every single last one of
- 24:50Speaker 1: them in the story. No contest. Do your knowledge if
- 24:54Speaker 1: you don't know about it. Kyle's my guy. I hope
- 24:58Speaker 1: one day we get to see him. Yeah, I do too.
- 25:00Speaker 1: I love Kyle Rayner, but I'm not really worried about
- 25:02Speaker 1: Kyle Rayner right now. Maybe for a season two, but
- 25:05Speaker 1: this is John's story, and I'm happy with that.
- 25:07Speaker 2: I'm really happy with that. Yeah. No, trust me. Everyone's
- 25:19Speaker 2: going to say that was Kyle Rayner. Everyone.
- 25:21Speaker 1: It was a white dude, you know, who was auditioning
- 25:24Speaker 1: to be Green Lantern. Of course they're going to say
- 25:26Speaker 1: it's Kyle Rayner. And I don't know any other prominent
- 25:28Speaker 1: white Green Lanterns. you know, dark black hair either. So
- 25:33Speaker 1: it's how it goes.
- 25:34Speaker 2: All right, y'all.
- 25:35Speaker 1: Once again, thank you for joining me. Thank you for
- 25:38Speaker 1: joining me chat. This has been awesome. We will definitely
- 25:40Speaker 1: be back again that Sunday. We will be here Tuesday,
- 25:44Speaker 1: early Tuesday, 10 a.m. Eastern time for the full review
- 25:49Speaker 1: of lanterns.
- 25:50Speaker 2: Episode three outcast. This has been so much fun.
- 25:53Speaker 1: Um, anything else before we get out of here, any
- 25:58Speaker 1: thoughts y'all have, let me know. And I'll, you know,
- 26:00Speaker 1: anything in the chat, drop it in there, and I'll,
- 26:03Speaker 1: you know, mention it real quick, other than that, you know,
- 26:06Speaker 1: like I say, we'll be back Tuesday, but, you know,
- 26:09Speaker 1: for real, thank you, thank you, Joseph, thank you, Zion
- 26:11Speaker 1: and Artists, The Way of Chun-Li, everybody else, had a
- 26:15Speaker 1: bunch of people in here, Daniel Jones, Amar Bird, Jameson Childress, of.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Course, Tapwater, Oh, Tapwater86 asked this.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Do you think because of the way he was raised
- 26:31Speaker 1: that Jon Stewart cares about other black people?
- 26:35Speaker 2: I wouldn't think so. No, not in that like, you know,
- 26:38Speaker 2: where he is worried.
- 26:39Speaker 1: About the overall blackness of things. You know, I don't
- 26:42Speaker 1: think that's Jon's thing. Jon is very much about Jon.
- 26:46Speaker 1: Like his mom tells him, you can't care about anybody else.
- 26:49Speaker 1: You know, so you can't even care about your family.
- 26:52Speaker 1: you know, I seriously doubt you can worry about, you know,
- 26:54Speaker 1: other black people or the world in general. So no,
- 26:56Speaker 1: I do not think John cares about other black people
- 26:59Speaker 1: in that, you know, sense. And that's a very great question.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Very great observation. Toya Johnson, thank you for stepping through
- 27:08Speaker 1: as well. Lock it down. Regine as always.
- 27:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:14Speaker 1: And yeah, we'll be back with more um think that's
- 27:17Speaker 1: about it for now but yeah thank you for joining
- 27:20Speaker 1: me and like i said if you haven't make sure
- 27:23Speaker 1: you hit follow subscribe on twitch on youtube we just
- 27:28Speaker 1: hit 10k on youtube 10k subscribers thank you so much

- 27:44Speaker 2: Love y'all. Thank you again for joining us.
