Latest / Afzal's Reset Entropy Podcast / Why You Won't Move Until You're Certain
Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_00: There is a very specific reason why lot of the capable people stay stuck and almost nobody names it.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: They are waiting to be certain about something, waiting until they have all the information, until the path is completely clear, until they know for sure that it'll work before they take the first step also.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: And because that certainty never actually arrives, they wait forever because it will never arrive.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: When you will even start the work, there will be something new that will be presented.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: They call it being careful, being you know thorough on all of it, doing their research, but underneath they are waiting for a guarantee that life is never going to give them because there is a huge fear of failure and multiple things.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: Today I want to talk about why the need for certainty quietly runs so many people's lives and why ones who actually move are simply the ones who stopped waiting for it.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: So here's a big trap.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: It is a very clever one also.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: Certainty feels responsible, it feels smart.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Of course, you should understand something before you commit to it for for sure.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: Of course, you should gather information so the waiting disguises itself as wisdom.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: But watch what actually happens.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: You research the decision you already made, you look for one more opinion, one more sign, one more piece of proof, and every time you get close to enough, a new doubt will appear.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: New a need of little more confirmation from someone, little more research on someone, need a little more, little more, and that little more is never ending.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: The finish line keeps moving ahead because the truth is the certainty was never going to come from one information alone or for more information also.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: The gap was never a knowledge gap, it was a comfort gap.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: You weren't missing any data point, you were missing the role to actually do it, the willingness to act while still being uncomfortable.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: And no amount of research closes that gap because it was never about the research anymore.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: So, where does this need for certainty come from?
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: For a lot of people, it traces back to the time when getting it wrong felt very dangerous.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: Where they were scolded, where they were told they are wrong, and it felt inside them and it stayed inside them that feeling of not fail ever again.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: Maybe mistakes were punished, maybe there was someone who approved you needed and you never got, and the wrong move cost the wrong approval.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: Maybe you were handled decisions with ultimatums, do this or face the consequences, and you actually maybe faced consequences, and that pressure taught your system that acting without certainty is a threat and will always be a threat.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: So learn to wait to be sure before you move because being sure felt like the only way to be safe, and that belief followed you into adulthood, into a walk, into every decision.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: So now can't you can't seem to make it, you know, you can't seem to go through a word.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: You have to be sure so you don't fail.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: And it's not that you're indecisive by nature, it has that some part of you still believe that acting before you're certain will cost you something you can't afford.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: And so it holds you in place, researching, waiting, being careful, while life you know compromises in that window.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: The window is just passing, your age is passing, your time is passing, but nothing is implementing and getting done.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: Literally, four hours.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: This person would, if pent down on one sector of why not taking action, would jump to something else which is literally not relevant.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: As simple as saying that the conclusion was made that okay, you want to do online business, so do it and finish it off that task.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: Why not doing it?
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: So the next answer offline has more profit.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: Okay, why can't you do offline?
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: I don't have enough cash to start offline.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: So why are we even talking about it?
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: As simple as that.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: When you know the methodologies which you have done for three years, last three years, this person is just implementing, implementing, implementing ideas in the head and asking questions which are not even related.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: Imagine the kind of situation the person would be in.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: Every question is asked in the right direction had a question had the answer which was in literally opposite direction.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: If online work has already been done, why not just put it?
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: Other people are also there, they have a percentage margin.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: What if we keep 25?
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: They keep 10%, keep 9, who cares?
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: But because that person told that they don't even have to invest in anything, it's more like just drop shipping work.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: Okay, if you operate at 0% also, right now you're not doing anything.
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: If you're operating at 0% also without any costing, you just have to pick up the product and just send it based on order.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: And if you're operating at 1% profit also, that's still you're earning something rather than just speculating what will happen if this will happen, and what fear of failure when you're not even investing anything and time investing time, we can't even comprehend that.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: If a person is just thinking for three years on what to do and staying stuck in life, I would say the time has already been wasted to even consider time as a currency.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: So, what breaks this?
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: Not more certainty, you'll never be enough with all the information.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: What breaks it is building a different relationship with being wrong.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: Understand that it will be a feedback.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: Here is the reframe of that.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: The worst case of acting before you're sure is that you make mistake and you correct it.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: Simple as that.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: Take it as feedback, just do it.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: That's it.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: A wrong move caught early is just information for you.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: You will learn from that.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: No one is able to give you a total hand holding book from now to the end of time.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: There will be new introduction of new stuff, new information, new environment, new surrounding, new market, new people, everything will change.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: It tells you what to adjust the information which you will get from the market when you're operating.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: But the cost of waiting for certainty is everything you never started, never tried, never built because you are waiting for a guarantee.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: And imagine this person already put in three years doing nothing about it.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: And that was never coming when you actually weigh moving towards actually stagnating, just imagine before you are sure, you become obviously safe.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: By that I mean you tend to stop yourself automatically before taking the wrong step.
- 8:31SPEAKER_00: Understood, but if that translates into you stop yourself before just taking a step also, then it goes in very negative connotation.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: And what happens over a course of time?
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: This feeling is irritating in itself, it piles up, it becomes into dullness or feeling less about your own self.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: And in the end, what happens?
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: You don't have any meaning to even do something.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: You start letting go of that idea slowly, even though it's back in your head, and the worst is you feel about that what you could have done if you had done that, and that goes into guilt, and guilt is even worse than not acting and failing now.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: So take the smallest possible step towards it while you are still uncomfortable, not the whole thing, one step, small baby steps, and watch what happens.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: The ground doesn't disappear, you survive being unsure, and every time you do that, you teach your system a new truth that you can act without a guarantee and be okay with it.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: That's how the need for certainty loosens, not by getting certain, by providing to yourself that you don't need to be.
- 10:01SPEAKER_00: So if you've been waiting to feel sure before you move, I want you to see the waiting for what it is, not caution, not wisdom, a pattern that keeping you exactly where you are, dressed up as being responsible, the certainty is never coming, and the people who build the lives you admire are and more certain than you, to be honest.
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: They also started like this.
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: If you are giving an example to yourself of someone who has succeeded, who has employees under them because this person did, they also came from somewhere whose struggle you don't know, but you're comparing their right now example with your not even started example.
- 10:51SPEAKER_00: So they also just learn to move before they were sure, correct as they went.
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: That's the whole difference.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: If you want to understand the pattern underneath why you can't act without a guarantee, there is a free video at the link below before the loop actually starts.
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: Break it, break it and reset your reality.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: I'll see you next time.
