- 1:08Speaker 2: let's go.
- 1:09Speaker 3: You've been redeemed.
- 1:10Speaker 1: That's not what happened. I can't get redeemed from the
- 1:14Speaker 1: popcorn moment. The story of the Secretary of State race
- 1:23Speaker 1: has been the story in Indiana. How is it possible
- 1:26Speaker 1: that the delegates on the Republican side could be okay
- 1:29Speaker 1: with Diego Morales with all of the issues, and there
- 1:31Speaker 1: are issues, undeniable issues that we have discussed here. You
- 1:35Speaker 1: have the Democrats putting forth bow Bye because they liked
- 1:39Speaker 1: the name by not because.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Of anything having to do with Indiana, but.
- 1:44Speaker 1: You were heading for disaster and Republicans started getting concerned.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Why it took so long? I can't answer. Max Eingling
- 1:54Speaker 1: has filed to run for Secretary of State. Max Ingling
- 1:58Speaker 1: worked on the staff Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Max Engling works now on the staff of Senator Jim Banks.
- 2:06Speaker 2: He joins me right now on the line, Max, thanks
- 2:10Speaker 2: for being here.
- 2:11Speaker 1: I appreciate you taking the time filing to run for
- 2:14Speaker 1: Secretary of State. Let's start with the basic question, Max,
- 2:18Speaker 1: Why now.
- 2:20Speaker 4: Good morning, Tony. Thanks for having me on the show.
- 2:23Speaker 4: I appreciate a chance to join here. A great question.
- 2:26Speaker 4: So the Secretary of State office has never been more
- 2:29Speaker 4: important than right now. And we know that, and as
- 2:33Speaker 4: I talk with folks all around the state, they know that.
- 2:36Speaker 4: And I'm running because I love Indiana and I'm a Christian,
- 2:39Speaker 4: a husband, a father of four, and I love the
- 2:42Speaker 4: people of Indiana. And not only do I believe that
- 2:45Speaker 4: this is the best state in the country, but as
- 2:47Speaker 4: I travel around the state, I'm hearing from Republicans, I'm
- 2:50Speaker 4: hearing from delegates, I'm hearing from who's yours that are saying, listen,
- 2:54Speaker 4: Republicans built this state through their values. They sent jennerations
- 3:00Speaker 4: building this state. And we're seeing right now a lot
- 3:03Speaker 4: of states slip towards that far left agenda, and right
- 3:08Speaker 4: now we cannot do that. It's more important right now
- 3:10Speaker 4: than ever to make sure that we hold the line
- 3:12Speaker 4: and don't.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Drift that direction.
- 3:14Speaker 4: And so much of that comes through election security and
- 3:17Speaker 4: other roles of the secretary of State's office, and that
- 3:20Speaker 4: needs to be solved right now.
- 3:23Speaker 2: So what part of this was opportunity?
- 3:27Speaker 1: You're talking about being around the state as you do
- 3:29Speaker 1: and going around talking to people. Was the conversation that
- 3:32Speaker 1: Diego Morales can't win the current secretary of state? Was
- 3:36Speaker 1: that the conversation What moment sparked in you, Hey, there's
- 3:40Speaker 1: an opportunity here, and I want to be the one
- 3:43Speaker 1: who seizes us.
- 3:45Speaker 4: So I don't think it's about opportunity. I think it's
- 3:48Speaker 4: about how do we ensure that the Secretary of State's
- 3:51Speaker 4: office is focused on election security and it's holding the
- 3:56Speaker 4: line to make sure that Indiana remains the great state
- 3:59Speaker 4: that we built, and I'm just not willing to let
- 4:03Speaker 4: it slide. And so it's someone needs to step up
- 4:06Speaker 4: and take on that challenge that I am absolutely willing
- 4:09Speaker 4: to do that, And certainly I've had the support of
- 4:13Speaker 4: great folks all around the state and including our US
- 4:15Speaker 4: Senator Jim Banks and the watchdog on election security Andrew Ireland,
- 4:21Speaker 4: and Commerceman Rudy Yakam. But the important thing is that
- 4:26Speaker 4: the delegates who are actually selecting this position are saying,
- 4:30Speaker 4: we need to ensure that the office of the Secretary
- 4:33Speaker 4: of State is focused on our election security, and I
- 4:36Speaker 4: am is.
- 4:38Speaker 2: It your belief that Diego Morales was not.
- 4:43Speaker 4: I'm focused right now on how do we run this
- 4:45Speaker 4: off as well, and how can I step in and
- 4:48Speaker 4: do this in an appropriate manner. And you know one
- 4:52Speaker 4: thing that's been really important, and I know that you've
- 4:55Speaker 4: talked about this a lot in the past because so
- 4:58Speaker 4: many folks have understood that this is the chair eallenge.
- 5:00Speaker 4: I've gone down to the border several times during the
- 5:03Speaker 4: Biden terrible border crisis and saw firsthand the folks that
- 5:08Speaker 4: were coming across the border illegally, the numbers that we
- 5:11Speaker 4: don't even know what they are now into the United
- 5:14Speaker 4: States and certainly into Indiana, and so we have to
- 5:18Speaker 4: ensure that they cannot vote in our elections. Non citizens
- 5:21Speaker 4: cannot vote in our elections, and that's more important now
- 5:24Speaker 4: than ever. I support the sayback that's obviously a federal issue,
- 5:27Speaker 4: something that doesn't come out of the Secretary of State's office,
- 5:30Speaker 4: but ensuring that the non citizens cannot vote in Indiana is
- 5:35Speaker 4: absolutely part of the Secretary of State's office, and that's
- 5:38Speaker 4: a priority of mine.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Talking to Max England, he is running for Secretary of
- 5:43Speaker 1: state just filed as the filing deadline is upon us.
- 5:47Speaker 1: So now the question is going to be to the
- 5:49Speaker 1: delegates who will decide who the nominee is and then
- 5:52Speaker 1: that nominee will go into a general election November. Why
- 5:55Speaker 1: you if Diego is still there, Dave Shelton is running,
- 6:00Speaker 1: Jamie Rittauur is running, there maybe some others that I'm
- 6:02Speaker 1: not mentioning.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Why you mex.
- 6:06Speaker 4: One, I know how to get things done, and two,
- 6:10Speaker 4: I know how to work with the State House to
- 6:11Speaker 4: accomplish these goals. And this isn't done in a vacuum.
- 6:16Speaker 4: Most of the election security challenges that we face and
- 6:19Speaker 4: ways that we can tighten election security are a combination
- 6:22Speaker 4: of working with the Indiana State House and the legislators
- 6:25Speaker 4: there and the Office and Secretary of State. So being
- 6:28Speaker 4: able to have that coalition building relationship with them is
- 6:31Speaker 4: absolutely vital. And over the last several years, you know,
- 6:34Speaker 4: I have traveled all across the state of Indiana, knocked
- 6:37Speaker 4: on doors. I've met with every day hoosiers, elected officials,
- 6:40Speaker 4: business owners, are grassros conservatives.
- 6:43Speaker 3: The Tea Party movement is.
- 6:44Speaker 4: What got me into politics in the first place, and
- 6:47Speaker 4: I've heard the same message over and over again. People
- 6:50Speaker 4: want secure elections, accountable government, and less bureaucracy interfering in
- 6:54Speaker 4: their lives.
- 6:55Speaker 3: And that's what I'm focused on right now.
- 6:58Speaker 2: You are in this this race.
- 7:02Speaker 1: You have worked on Capitol Hill in numerous capacities and
- 7:07Speaker 1: high level of capacities.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Thirty seconds. Just how do you describe your story?
- 7:15Speaker 3: I appreciate that opportunity. So not only have.
- 7:18Speaker 4: I was raised here in Indiana from a young age,
- 7:23Speaker 4: but also then took the chance and said, hey, I
- 7:26Speaker 4: want to go to DC because that's where the conservative
- 7:29Speaker 4: people that are going to make a difference were headed.
- 7:32Speaker 3: So I took a leap of faith.
- 7:35Speaker 4: Moved out there on an internship, and found that if
- 7:38Speaker 4: you put your head down and work hard, like anywhere
- 7:40Speaker 4: you take that Hoosier spirit, work hard, it will go
- 7:44Speaker 4: well for you. People will recognize that and trust the
- 7:47Speaker 4: Lord in that. And so moved back home and very
- 7:51Speaker 4: much enjoyed the opportunity to work for our excellent.
- 7:53Speaker 3: Senator Jim Banks.
- 7:55Speaker 4: And that has put me across the whole state of
- 7:58Speaker 4: Indiana very regularly day. I'm on the road. I don't
- 8:01Speaker 4: even have an office. My job is to get out
- 8:03Speaker 4: there and meet with our Hoosiers across the whole state,
- 8:06Speaker 4: and the focus is on. What I hear from them
- 8:09Speaker 4: is that we need to secure elections, we need to
- 8:11Speaker 4: get government out of our lives, make it easier for
- 8:15Speaker 4: businesses in the state of Indiana.
- 8:17Speaker 3: And I've talked to not just the elective folks.
- 8:20Speaker 4: I talk with grassroots leaders and agriculture leaders, folks that
- 8:24Speaker 4: are in the rural community, and folks that are in
- 8:27Speaker 4: suburban and urban communities, and they're saying the same thing
- 8:29Speaker 4: to me, Tony.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Let's go back to something Mats. I know you.
- 8:38Speaker 1: I like you. You've attended events that I have done.
- 8:42Speaker 1: We have talked about a great number of things. We've
- 8:44Speaker 1: agreed and we've disagreed. But you can't come on and
- 8:49Speaker 1: not discuss the nine thousand pounds animal in the room,
- 8:54Speaker 1: which is the stories around Diego Morales and the issues
- 8:58Speaker 1: that we think it causes. Is there a belief from
- 9:02Speaker 1: you that if Diego Morales is the nominee, we lose
- 9:07Speaker 1: Republicans lose to bo By in November.
- 9:12Speaker 4: The number one challenge is losing our state to the
- 9:16Speaker 4: far left. And so yes, I believe that I am
- 9:19Speaker 4: the best candidate to win in November. To ensure that
- 9:23Speaker 4: bo Bay does not take the state of Indiana in
- 9:26Speaker 4: directions that we do not want to go. And I
- 9:29Speaker 4: am that candidate.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Yes, sir, when you talk about bo Baie talking to
- 9:33Speaker 1: Max England, a candidate for Secretary of State, just a
- 9:37Speaker 1: filed the delegates will have a choice to make when
- 9:41Speaker 1: the convention comes in less than thirty days. What is
- 9:45Speaker 1: your take on Bobai What is your story about bo
- 9:48Speaker 1: Bay to Hoosiers.
- 9:51Speaker 4: He clearly is running a campaign that wants to take
- 9:56Speaker 4: us to.
- 9:58Speaker 3: Like our neighbors to the north.
- 10:00Speaker 4: See you folks in Michigan, you look to our west
- 10:03Speaker 4: in Illinois, they have serious challenges. You've seen it. I've
- 10:06Speaker 4: seen it. Anybody that has traveled at all has seen
- 10:10Speaker 4: what happens to a state when the far left takes over.
- 10:13Speaker 3: It does not go well for them.
- 10:16Speaker 4: You wind up as a dying state, like we can
- 10:18Speaker 4: see in Illinois. That's the reason they're fleeing Illinois to
- 10:20Speaker 4: come to Indiana. And so he wants to take Indiana
- 10:25Speaker 4: that same place, and I'm not willing to let that happen.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Max England, I appreciate you taking the time. What is
- 10:37Speaker 1: this battle looking like as you head to the convention.
- 10:40Speaker 1: You've got twenty some odd days to make your case.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Two delegates right, different than the voters. You talk about
- 10:48Speaker 1: the left, you talk about bo Bay, you talk about
- 10:51Speaker 1: not being Illinois.
- 10:52Speaker 2: What is is.
- 10:53Speaker 1: That the topic that the delegates are focused on or
- 10:56Speaker 1: is there something else that you're reaching out to them about.
- 11:00Speaker 4: You are absolutely right that the delegates are the key
- 11:03Speaker 4: to this election. They are the ones who are saying
- 11:06Speaker 4: who do I put my trust in and who do
- 11:08Speaker 4: I vote for when we get to the convention. And
- 11:10Speaker 4: yesterday I sent a message to all of the delegates
- 11:13Speaker 4: across the entire state with my personal information.
- 11:16Speaker 3: I'm going to be calling and meeting and sitting.
- 11:19Speaker 4: Down with delegates everywhere across the state, and they're encouraged
- 11:22Speaker 4: to use that information to reach out to me directly
- 11:25Speaker 4: so we can talk. And as I've talked with them
- 11:29Speaker 4: the last several days, they have been adamant that it's
- 11:33Speaker 4: election security, it's closing our primaries, it is ensuring that
- 11:39Speaker 4: only citizens can vote, and creating a business environment that
- 11:43Speaker 4: is open for entrepreneurs in the state of Indiana. And
- 11:47Speaker 4: the support has been overwhelming from the delegates, the desire
- 11:52Speaker 4: to have someone in this race that they can get
- 11:54Speaker 4: behind and move forward during the convention, but it's up
- 11:58Speaker 4: to them. It's their trust that I'm seeing King and
- 12:00Speaker 4: I want to talk with each and every delegate.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Max England e n g l I n G.
- 12:06Speaker 1: He is running for Secretary of State, looking to get
- 12:09Speaker 1: the nomination from the Republicans at the convention in just
- 12:13Speaker 1: over three weeks. Max, I appreciate you taking the time
- 12:17Speaker 1: to be with us. Matt Barry apologize. We will get
- 12:19Speaker 1: to traffic on the Fives at seven thirty five. Tony Katz,
- 12:23Speaker 1: ninety three WIBC, Good morning,
