Priscila Ramirez arrived in America in 1970 with just $120 and her husband, chasing the American Dream through education and opportunity. She earned a master’s, worked 34 years at Columbia University, and watched all three kids earn advanced degrees from top schools. Back then, she got free fish heads and chicken wings—surprising the butcher—and paid just $80/month rent in NYC. She even got her nursing license while her husband hunted for work.
