- 0:27Speaker 1: Wind a man out looking there with a dollar you
- 0:30Speaker 1: speak met out this sh time. Welcome to the grill
- 0:36Speaker 1: Out from the heart of Sillion, West Virginia. Here's your host,
- 0:40Speaker 1: Hollywood Chef Petty. Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen to the
- 0:47Speaker 1: grill Outs, Episode ninety six. I'm your Hollywood Jeff Petty,
- 0:52Speaker 1: and I'm joined here with the one and only informer
- 0:58Speaker 1: Grill Out Predictions champion Josh Cole.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Babe, Yeah, Jason wand in for me that inform us,
- 1:05Speaker 2: rather that he is on sabbatical working on that list.
- 1:08Speaker 1: He had to revise it, okay, So I was wondering
- 1:11Speaker 1: where he was. I'm glad he told you, but he
- 1:14Speaker 1: did not. He did not let let me know that information. Yeah,
- 1:18Speaker 1: it is okay, but honestly, so Josh get we get
- 1:21Speaker 1: here to the to the studio and I'm in here.
- 1:25Speaker 1: I get everything prepped and Josh lets me know that
- 1:28Speaker 1: he's here. So I got a door to let him in.
- 1:30Speaker 1: I completely forgot until this morning that I had won
- 1:32Speaker 1: the belt. Yeah, I completely forgot that. And then Josh
- 1:36Speaker 1: hands me the belt and I'm like, oh, yeah, that's right,
- 1:38Speaker 1: I am technically the champion. Now yeah, probably won't be
- 1:40Speaker 1: the next episode.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Yeah, it's being defended as we are talking.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Exactly class shit champions. It's well, it starts two right,
- 1:49Speaker 1: yeah started, Oh maybe maybe it has Oh yeah it
- 1:52Speaker 1: is one thirty right now today. Yeah, even though this
- 1:58Speaker 1: episode will go out at four o'clock today, but yeah,
- 2:02Speaker 1: just shows you that, you know, we are a pre
- 2:05Speaker 1: recorded show. We're not live.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Two of the matches we thought were gonna happen are
- 2:09Speaker 2: not happening, so.
- 2:12Speaker 1: I guess we could cancel them out.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Yeah, so it's only four matches we're going with.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Wow. Yeah, so it's gonna come down the four matches,
- 2:19Speaker 1: all the matches real quick? Do you have it pulled up?
- 2:22Speaker 2: I can get it here in a second.
- 2:24Speaker 1: I was going to ask, like it, did we pick
- 2:27Speaker 1: different on any of those four?
- 2:30Speaker 2: But uh, let's see.
- 2:31Speaker 1: If not, it's going to be completely useless.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Okay, we all said Sena on Logan, Paul Logan and Sena.
- 2:37Speaker 2: I you guess Seamus on the rus of seamous match.
- 2:40Speaker 2: All the rest of us went rus of Okay, Roman reigns,
- 2:43Speaker 2: Bronson Reid, I guess Bronson Reid. You all guess Roman
- 2:47Speaker 2: on that, okay, and then for the World Championship match,
- 2:50Speaker 2: we all went with brains.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Okay. So it's different, Okay, all right, So so like
- 2:54Speaker 1: if if you if Bronson Reid wins, there's a pass ability,
- 3:00Speaker 1: you could be champion. Yeah, if what was the other
- 3:03Speaker 1: one that I picked? If if Shamus wins, then I
- 3:06Speaker 1: pretty well have it locked up at that point. Yeah,
- 3:09Speaker 1: unless it's a tie. But even when it's a tie,
- 3:11Speaker 1: And yeah, this might be the only time I'm going
- 3:13Speaker 1: to have a successful defense second time. Second time. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 3:19Speaker 1: this time I actually tried. Last time, I did not dry, I.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Promise, which I find that the Women's World Championship, Like,
- 3:25Speaker 2: why why didn't they just set up a title match
- 3:28Speaker 2: for it to happen? That it would have made sense?
- 3:30Speaker 1: Yeah, like I said, no, it makes too much sense.
- 3:33Speaker 2: No, No, Adam Pearson, No, I've got I got an
- 3:35Speaker 2: opponent in mind for you. I have to work out
- 3:37Speaker 2: all the details. It's not gonna happen clash will be later.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Why it's it's hard to tell. It is really hard
- 3:44Speaker 1: to tell.
- 3:45Speaker 2: And it really looked like Cody Rhods Dreamagico is going
- 3:47Speaker 2: to have a match, but I guess I don't know
- 3:48Speaker 2: where Cody. Oh he is all filming that Street Fighter movie,
- 3:51Speaker 2: So I guess that's why Cody Rhoads. Yeah, oh yeah,
- 3:55Speaker 2: that's right. I forgot about that.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Yeah, forgot about that. That. Speaking of and being in Paris,
- 4:01Speaker 1: I just want to bring this up. Johnsena apologized to
- 4:05Speaker 1: the kid that he called a toxic fan earlier this year. Yeah,
- 4:11Speaker 1: during his promo with a promo battle pretty much with
- 4:15Speaker 1: Logan Paul This past Friday on SmackDown from France, John
- 4:19Speaker 1: Cena a Babyface now apologized to the kid he called
- 4:22Speaker 1: toxic earlier this year. I have to say his earlier
- 4:27Speaker 1: he'll promo and talking about how toxic fans are and
- 4:31Speaker 1: says that kid in particular. I felt so bad for him.
- 4:35Speaker 1: But you know, it's got to be a little rewarding
- 4:37Speaker 1: that here we are, what six seven months later, Yeah,
- 4:42Speaker 1: kind of full circle and Johnsena is like apologizing to
- 4:46Speaker 1: the kid and everything he I did see where he
- 4:48Speaker 1: talked here recently about he almost regrets those earlier promos
- 4:54Speaker 1: and going Hill almost. I kind of understand it from
- 4:59Speaker 1: him from his point of view because the way it
- 5:03Speaker 1: was set up and and and jump in here. The
- 5:06Speaker 1: way it was set up was John Cena was going
- 5:10Speaker 1: to have the Rock behind him, so the Rock was
- 5:13Speaker 1: going to be this final boss. He was finally able
- 5:15Speaker 1: to corrupt John Cena because he wants Cody Road's soul
- 5:20Speaker 1: and everything, and that never came to fruition. Yeah, yeah,
- 5:24Speaker 1: I mean, and we talked about that with with the
- 5:26Speaker 1: WrestleMania main event, everybody was expecting the Rock to show
- 5:30Speaker 1: up and who is it? Travis Scott. Nobody cares.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Yeah, Like if if the Rock was there with Travis,
- 5:37Speaker 2: it will have been fine, because I mean, they had
- 5:38Speaker 2: the whole thing elimination chamber, but it was just Travis's like,
- 5:42Speaker 2: Where's Rock? Yeah, that's the whole point.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Here, Yeah, like that exactly. The whole point was the
- 5:48Speaker 1: Rock wants Cody Road's soul, so he has to obtain
- 5:53Speaker 1: it through John Cena finally turning to the dark side
- 5:57Speaker 1: the story Road itself, and because of because of that
- 6:01Speaker 1: key part in the story, I don't I think it
- 6:04Speaker 1: caused John Cena's he'll turn to kind of fall flat
- 6:08Speaker 1: with people. At least that's my point of view on this.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Yeah, so they barely addressed it over until he turned
- 6:16Speaker 2: face again. Like they mentioned a couple of times, but
- 6:18Speaker 2: they didn't really directly address it.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Yeah. And also my thing is is like if it
- 6:23Speaker 1: and I don't know the true reason why The Rock
- 6:26Speaker 1: hasn't been involved in this, I don't I don't know
- 6:29Speaker 1: the details of that. If they knew that the Rock
- 6:34Speaker 1: and this includes him himself, if they knew that he
- 6:38Speaker 1: wasn't going to be able to commit to this, then
- 6:42Speaker 1: why even put him in the storyline. Yeah, Like it
- 6:47Speaker 1: just it doesn't make it doesn't make a whole lot
- 6:49Speaker 1: of sense to me.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Yeah, apparently the whole thing was like elimination Chamber. I
- 6:54Speaker 2: guess tickets weren't moving as much as they wanted, so
- 6:56Speaker 2: they brought in the Rock in to, you know, boost
- 6:59Speaker 2: the ticket sales, and that's how he came into the
- 7:01Speaker 2: picture there. And then after that he's like, you know what,
- 7:03Speaker 2: I don't think they need me anymore.
- 7:04Speaker 1: It's what Yeah, like you inserted yourself in this story,
- 7:09Speaker 1: which again and all the and we talked about it
- 7:12Speaker 1: on earlier episodes, it all made sense. Yeah, I thought
- 7:16Speaker 1: it was like, Okay, this is gonna be a great
- 7:18Speaker 1: story to play out, Like I love the way these
- 7:21Speaker 1: pieces are being set up for the eventual payoff later
- 7:24Speaker 1: on this year. And boom, here we are and seeing
- 7:26Speaker 1: us back to face and he's got what cup two
- 7:29Speaker 1: matches excluding today for clash in Paris.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Two matches left, I think, well, I think three, at
- 7:37Speaker 2: least two.
- 7:38Speaker 1: I think three. Okay, we'll see what.
- 7:40Speaker 2: So definitely the Recipaluza coming up next month, which will
- 7:43Speaker 2: be the first on the usputin YEP, which will likely
- 7:47Speaker 2: be brock Lesner his retirement match in December, and I
- 7:52Speaker 2: think he's supposed to be at Crown Jewel.
- 7:55Speaker 1: I thought he was supposed to be a Survivors series.
- 7:57Speaker 1: I don't know about that one, but yeah, yeah, so
- 8:00Speaker 1: at the most maybe four matches, but he has like
- 8:03Speaker 1: eight days left. Yeah, so that's like you gotta kind
- 8:08Speaker 1: of be a little a little careful on how you're
- 8:11Speaker 1: how you're placing his stories now I don't know. And
- 8:14Speaker 1: also that's another thing that I've noticed with WWE's booking
- 8:18Speaker 1: here recently, and it was something that they were they
- 8:20Speaker 1: had a problem with years ago was, in my opinion,
- 8:24Speaker 1: they would go for these kind of cheap pops and
- 8:29Speaker 1: not really follow through with them very well, or not
- 8:32Speaker 1: not not follow through with them, or not follow through
- 8:34Speaker 1: with them very well. Yeah, like with we just talked
- 8:37Speaker 1: about about what the rock bring them in because tickets
- 8:39Speaker 1: are moving slow for elimination Chamber, Get that pop, get
- 8:42Speaker 1: get the get you know, the all of that out
- 8:44Speaker 1: of it. He disappears and you don't hear from him.
- 8:47Speaker 1: You know, we talked a few weeks ago about brock Lesner.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Brock Lesner comes in, gets that initial reaction from everybody.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Then he's not even Johnsena's next opponent. It's Logan Paul.
- 8:59Speaker 1: So so that's it. I don't know, it's it's inconsistent
- 9:03Speaker 1: in my head. It doesn't make sense. Yeah, and it
- 9:06Speaker 1: just seems kind of cheap. Yeah.
- 9:08Speaker 2: I'm curious though, because you know, they said that Johnson
- 9:11Speaker 2: has this many dates, and when he was the heel,
- 9:13Speaker 2: he was like, yeah, no, this is just many. I'm
- 9:15Speaker 2: wondering where he's a face now and maybe, like.
- 9:17Speaker 1: You know what, I'll do a couple extras.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Maybe, Yeah, maybe it's gonna be hard to squeeze in however,
- 9:22Speaker 2: any matches has left with only like eight dates.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Left or whatever. Yeah, exactly.
- 9:26Speaker 2: So, I mean I don't even think this Wrestle Palooza
- 9:28Speaker 2: was originally on his number of dates either.
- 9:31Speaker 1: So it also seems like this wrestle Palooza thing is
- 9:35Speaker 1: kind of coming out of left field. Oh yeah, and
- 9:38Speaker 1: we kind of we've talked a little bit about why
- 9:40Speaker 1: it's coming out of left field, just the whole counter
- 9:42Speaker 1: programming stuff. Yeah, and also with this new ESPN deal
- 9:45Speaker 1: being sped up the way it has. Yeah, like it's
- 9:50Speaker 1: it's it's almost like I hate to say this, it's
- 9:54Speaker 1: almost like it was pre Triple H taken Over the
- 9:58Speaker 1: book as in, we're going to fly by the same
- 10:00Speaker 1: of our pants and not have stuff mapped out and
- 10:02Speaker 1: we're just going to make decisions on a whim. Whereas, like,
- 10:06Speaker 1: you know this, at the very beginning of Triple H
- 10:08Speaker 1: Taken Over the booking, everything was planned out, Everything seemed
- 10:12Speaker 1: like it was fleshed out. Ideas, maybe it wasn't the
- 10:15Speaker 1: greatest for everybody. I thought they were. They were white
- 10:18Speaker 1: hot at the beg, you know, when this transition happened,
- 10:22Speaker 1: and it just seemed like they had more well thought
- 10:24Speaker 1: out stories, more well thought out programs with people, and
- 10:28Speaker 1: now we are not getting that or we're getting very
- 10:30Speaker 1: little of that.
- 10:31Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I think it doesn't help either because of well,
- 10:34Speaker 2: the whole Rock situation and then seen as limited schedule
- 10:37Speaker 2: and he's kind of like in the main picture, so
- 10:39Speaker 2: it's kind of they're trying to work around that in
- 10:41Speaker 2: a way.
- 10:42Speaker 1: So that could be an issue there too. It could
- 10:44Speaker 1: be it could be shifting gears over to ae W.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Speaking of September twentieth, Yes, speaking of September twentieth, HBO
- 10:53Speaker 1: Max has updated their terms of service for subscribers. They
- 10:57Speaker 1: have a one time purchase option now and that'll go
- 11:00Speaker 1: into effect on September twentieth, And at this time, it
- 11:03Speaker 1: looks like aw all Out will be the first pay
- 11:06Speaker 1: per view offered on their service and that will be Saturday,
- 11:09Speaker 1: September twentieth.
- 11:11Speaker 2: It will be the first AWP for you to go
- 11:14Speaker 2: head to head against a main roster WW event true,
- 11:17Speaker 2: which is the rest of the loosa that's true.
- 11:20Speaker 1: My I wonder have they said anything about what the
- 11:23Speaker 1: price is going to be like it's is it going
- 11:25Speaker 1: to be a reduced price, is it going to be
- 11:26Speaker 1: the same prices this HBO thing. Yeah, I don't think they.
- 11:29Speaker 2: I don't think they've mentioned anything about that other than
- 11:31Speaker 2: these updated terms.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Okay, we might find out more of the closer we
- 11:35Speaker 1: get to this date. I would I would like to
- 11:39Speaker 1: see them have at least like a reduced price on it.
- 11:43Speaker 2: If I remember correctly, back when they originally announced this
- 11:47Speaker 2: HBO Max deal, the original plan was this and that
- 11:51Speaker 2: if you were a subscriber to HBO Max, you would
- 11:54Speaker 2: get like a little bit of a reduced price.
- 11:56Speaker 1: So hopefully that's still.
- 11:57Speaker 2: A thing for people who were subscribed.
- 11:59Speaker 1: Yeah, because I'm I mean as much as as much
- 12:03Speaker 1: as we've talked about the thirty at least a thirty
- 12:05Speaker 1: dollars a month for ESPN, which, by the way, if
- 12:08Speaker 1: you're I will say this if you are, if you're
- 12:11Speaker 1: going into it as just a pro wrestling fan, I
- 12:15Speaker 1: don't think it's worth the price. If you are going
- 12:18Speaker 1: in it because you're a pro wrestling fan, you like
- 12:20Speaker 1: the NFL, you like UFC, you like all of the
- 12:23Speaker 1: stuff like that, then I think it's worth the price.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Because this ESPN is going to have I think UFC
- 12:30Speaker 1: fight pass on it, and it's also going to have
- 12:32Speaker 1: NFL Red Zone to go with it. So with that,
- 12:35Speaker 1: I can justify the price as a fan of those
- 12:38Speaker 1: respective sports, but if you are a professional wrestling fan,
- 12:41Speaker 1: I just don't see it as that. So and yeah,
- 12:46Speaker 1: once we find out more about AW and all that,
- 12:49Speaker 1: when we get close to it. But what I was
- 12:51Speaker 1: just to finish that thought we've said on here and
- 12:54Speaker 1: said about the thirty bucks a month AW pay per
- 12:57Speaker 1: views have typically been fifty dollars for each one. Nobody
- 13:01Speaker 1: wants to pay fifty dollars a month, no, not in
- 13:04Speaker 1: this economy, not no. So I very much am hoping
- 13:10Speaker 1: that it's a reduced price.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Yeah, or just VPN to another country and pay like
- 13:14Speaker 2: twenty books.
- 13:15Speaker 1: That's what Stephanie McMahon's telling everybody. Yeah. Which, so as
- 13:21Speaker 1: to what we've said on the show before, Josh Jason
- 13:24Speaker 1: and myself we have a like a group chat that
- 13:26Speaker 1: we send like wrestling memes and wrestling stories and just
- 13:30Speaker 1: general wrestling stuff in it. Josh sends us something what
- 13:35Speaker 1: was it yesterday or day before? Yeah, something like that,
- 13:39Speaker 1: and it was from Stephanie McMahon's podcast.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Right, yeah, promoting surf Shark.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Yeah, promoting a VPN and she's basically all but saying
- 13:48Speaker 1: out loud. Ah.
- 13:50Speaker 2: She she like directly said, he's like, you know, watching
- 13:53Speaker 2: you know traditional here in United States on cable.
- 13:55Speaker 1: It sucks because over wherever else.
- 13:57Speaker 2: You get everything on Netflix.
- 13:58Speaker 1: So you can use a.
- 13:59Speaker 2: VPN with our code here to watch Netflix. Now, she
- 14:06Speaker 2: didn't mention the polis. She was just talking about like
- 14:08Speaker 2: we all SmackDown, but still.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean the irony of that. Yeah. I did
- 14:15Speaker 1: also see where I guess Roman Reigns was on there
- 14:18Speaker 1: and they were talking about the weird verbiage that Vince
- 14:22Speaker 1: would would would impose on everybody, Like you can't say violence,
- 14:27Speaker 1: you gotta say aggressive. You can't say belt, you gotta
- 14:30Speaker 1: say title or what. You can't say hospital, you gotta
- 14:33Speaker 1: say a medical facility, or like he just had these
- 14:37Speaker 1: weird rules when it came to just language and what
- 14:41Speaker 1: you say. Because I think the most recent example I
- 14:44Speaker 1: could think of like somebody going against that was Bronze Stroman.
- 14:49Speaker 1: He said, I think belt instead of he said, he
- 14:53Speaker 1: said belt or title instead of championship, And because of that,
- 14:57Speaker 1: I think he did get like some type of punishment
- 15:00Speaker 1: thrown his way. It was just a weird quirky thing
- 15:03Speaker 1: that Vince did with his with his wrestlers and their promos,
- 15:08Speaker 1: and people pointed that stuff out for years and and
- 15:12Speaker 1: as as a person who has a background in communication,
- 15:15Speaker 1: I find it weird. I've always found it weird, and
- 15:19Speaker 1: it's yeah, it's just it's just a weird thing.
- 15:21Speaker 2: May be one thing if it's a branding thing, but
- 15:23Speaker 2: that that's not really branding.
- 15:24Speaker 1: No.
- 15:25Speaker 2: Although I don't completely disagree with the.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Title thing, calling it a championship or instead of calling
- 15:31Speaker 1: it a belt, calling it I can understand that, even
- 15:35Speaker 1: though I will still sit here and call it a
- 15:36Speaker 1: title belt or a belt because it goes around the waist,
- 15:39Speaker 1: but that's just me. And also I can understand, especially
- 15:44Speaker 1: like when WWE became a publicly traded company, you know,
- 15:48Speaker 1: they work sort of at the whims of public shareholders
- 15:53Speaker 1: and whatnot and people buying their stock and all of this.
- 15:56Speaker 1: So like I can understand controlling some of the verbiage
- 16:00Speaker 1: so it doesn't upset advertisers and investors and whatnot. Because like,
- 16:05Speaker 1: as to what I've said before on the program and
- 16:07Speaker 1: I've said in you know, off the air with us,
- 16:11Speaker 1: is how WWE is sort of the Disney of professional wrestling,
- 16:15Speaker 1: as in they market a lot towards kids, and that's
- 16:18Speaker 1: kind of what their model has been on and off
- 16:21Speaker 1: for the past forty years.
- 16:23Speaker 2: And now they're kind of part of it. Disney.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Yeah, it's all weird. Time is a flat circle. It
- 16:31Speaker 1: really is Ria Ripley a Disney princess. You know. I
- 16:34Speaker 1: got asked that question on Facebook and I said, yes, yes,
- 16:38Speaker 1: I think she is a Disney princess right now. So
- 16:43Speaker 1: also talking about WWE, it is being reported that WWE
- 16:47Speaker 1: Rawl is going to move up its start time to
- 16:50Speaker 1: seven pm Eastern time, Eastern Standard time, nop what.
- 16:56Speaker 2: So it's a little funny thing. We are in eastern
- 16:59Speaker 2: daylight time right now.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Really, Yeah, so it's EDT.
- 17:03Speaker 2: Yeah that whenever I write this, I always put Eastern
- 17:06Speaker 2: time just to eliminate that. Oh okay, because it's a
- 17:09Speaker 2: weird thing. So from daylight saving time in the spring
- 17:12Speaker 2: to the fall, it's EEDT, and then from the fall
- 17:15Speaker 2: to the spring it's eest.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Yeah. You learn a little bit of everything on this show,
- 17:22Speaker 1: not just professional wrestling.
- 17:24Speaker 2: Yeah, but that's why I always write as Eastern tom
- 17:26Speaker 2: an these things, just to eliminate that I didn't know that.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:29Speaker 2: Oh yeah, So right now we're in Eastern daily time
- 17:31Speaker 2: and for about the next two months, then it will
- 17:33Speaker 2: be Eastern Standard time.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. Hey, either either way seven o'clock Eastern
- 17:38Speaker 1: time on September fifteenth, twenty second, and the twenty ninth.
- 17:41Speaker 1: This decision is to combat the NFL season and Monday
- 17:45Speaker 1: night football. WWE and Netflix want to see how they
- 17:48Speaker 1: perform with an earlier start time. Yeah, so if they're
- 17:53Speaker 1: going to start at seven o'clock, does that mean we're
- 17:54Speaker 1: all going to be off at ten non thirty thirty,
- 17:59Speaker 1: not none thirty, ten o'clock somewhere in there, because sometimes
- 18:02Speaker 1: they do stretch it to three hours.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Well, I don't know. I asked Bruce Prichard.
- 18:07Speaker 1: I'm not asking Bruce Richard.
- 18:09Speaker 2: They've been averaging about two point five okay, all right, But.
- 18:13Speaker 1: This is also this is like traditionally something that they
- 18:16Speaker 1: have struggled with for quite a while, even when they
- 18:19Speaker 1: were on traditional cable was you know, typically ratings and
- 18:23Speaker 1: that's and this is not something that we normally talk
- 18:25Speaker 1: about on the show because me personally, I don't care. Yeah,
- 18:29Speaker 1: I just don't care about ratings. Yeah, give me substance.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Don't give me ratings. Build it and they will come.
- 18:35Speaker 1: But this is something that they've traditionally struggled with because
- 18:38Speaker 1: the ratings for Monday Night Raw will dip in the
- 18:42Speaker 1: football season because of Monday night Football, because of the
- 18:46Speaker 1: viewership that goes over there. And not just that, but
- 18:48Speaker 1: you gotta think in October, you have Monday night football,
- 18:52Speaker 1: you have call We'll not college football Monday nights, but
- 18:55Speaker 1: you got Monday night football. You also have the MLB Playoffs,
- 18:58Speaker 1: which is something not just to be is fighting with,
- 19:01Speaker 1: but everybody is because baseball can be played on any
- 19:04Speaker 1: day of the week, not just Sunday, not just Friday
- 19:07Speaker 1: to Monday, well technically Thursday to Monday. Yeah, So real quick,
- 19:13Speaker 1: before we get to one this day in wrestling history,
- 19:17Speaker 1: just to go over to New Japan, everybody's favorite DVD salesman,
- 19:21Speaker 1: Toriano is working in the front office of New Japan.
- 19:24Speaker 1: According to Fight Full Select, Yano has taken on taken
- 19:28Speaker 1: on a more important role in the front office of
- 19:31Speaker 1: New Japan. Apparently he is involved in a little bit
- 19:34Speaker 1: of everything, including booking. I know that you are not
- 19:37Speaker 1: familiar with Toriano's game.
- 19:40Speaker 2: No, but I'm gonna say he needs to upgrade the
- 19:41Speaker 2: Blu rays at.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Least fair enough, but that is part of his gimmick.
- 19:47Speaker 1: He comes out that man is always pushing merch. Yeah,
- 19:50Speaker 1: he is always pushing some type of merch, whether it's
- 19:52Speaker 1: a T shirt or a DVD.
- 19:56Speaker 2: I just find it crazy. DVDs are still a thing. Yeah,
- 20:00Speaker 2: Like Blu rays have been out for almost twenty years now,
- 20:02Speaker 2: they're far superior, but we still have DVDs. What's going
- 20:05Speaker 2: on here?
- 20:06Speaker 1: I mean that's kind of like back in the day
- 20:08Speaker 1: when I think it was Beta Max. We went from
- 20:11Speaker 1: Beta Max to VHS and really, from my understanding, I
- 20:17Speaker 1: think now this is again coming from background and communications
- 20:20Speaker 1: and broadcasting and stuff we did not go to like
- 20:24Speaker 1: we stayed with We went to VHS and stayed there.
- 20:27Speaker 1: A lot of people outside of the country stuck with
- 20:30Speaker 1: Beta Max. I didn't know that until here recently, So
- 20:35Speaker 1: it may be something like that.
- 20:36Speaker 2: Well that's Japan. Japan is like the forefront of tech.
- 20:39Speaker 1: That's true, that's true. But yeah, like I understand the
- 20:43Speaker 1: Blu ray thing, Like it is kind of weird.
- 20:44Speaker 2: That blue rays now, but Blu rays are still good.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true. Even though at my house. I have
- 20:52Speaker 1: an entire cabinet full of wrestling DVDs from years ago though, right, yeah, well,
- 20:57Speaker 1: yes and no. Some of them are from years ago,
- 21:02Speaker 1: some of them are from when I was a kid.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Some of them might just bought online. Yeah, so you know.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Also before we while, when we're talking about New Japan,
- 21:13Speaker 1: Kenoski Takeshta, winner of the G One Climax thirty five,
- 21:16Speaker 1: has announced he will challenge the winner of Zach Saber
- 21:19Speaker 1: Junior versus Randonarita, which will take place at New Japan
- 21:23Speaker 1: Destruction in Kobe on September twenty eighth. Like Saber Junior
- 21:29Speaker 1: the year prior, Tech Takeshta messed up on that, Takeshta
- 21:35Speaker 1: will challenge THEWGP World Heavyweight Champion at King of Pro
- 21:39Speaker 1: Wrestling on October thirteenth. Rendonarita did defeat Zach Saber Junior
- 21:44Speaker 1: in the G One therefore he has first DIBs on
- 21:47Speaker 1: challenging him before the G One winner.
- 21:50Speaker 2: And G One winner is supposed to go to Wrestle
- 21:52Speaker 2: Kingdom Bright.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Please not not necessarily. That's traditionally, that's how it's been,
- 21:56Speaker 1: but the past couple of years they've kind of moved
- 21:59Speaker 1: it up to you know, King of Pro Wrestling, which
- 22:03Speaker 1: I guess in a way you could say it's sort
- 22:04Speaker 1: of it's not Survivor Series, but if you were to
- 22:07Speaker 1: kind of compare it to a WWE schedule, it's their Fall,
- 22:10Speaker 1: their Big Fall pay per view, you know, that's that's
- 22:13Speaker 1: that's their Survivor series. So it's just yeah, they're basically
- 22:17Speaker 1: just moving it up because also you gotta think Wrestle Kingdom,
- 22:20Speaker 1: which is their WrestleMania, takes place on January fourth every year,
- 22:24Speaker 1: so it's early January, so they just kind of moved
- 22:27Speaker 1: a matchup for three months. But one thing I will say,
- 22:31Speaker 1: one thing that does annoy me with by doing this
- 22:34Speaker 1: is the g One winner does not get a chance
- 22:37Speaker 1: to defend their briefcase or their contract often enough, because
- 22:42Speaker 1: that was typically what would happen. You would have somebody
- 22:45Speaker 1: win the g one climax that would be your winner.
- 22:47Speaker 1: They would be they would have a briefcase that would
- 22:49Speaker 1: have a contract in it, and that was their contract
- 22:52Speaker 1: to challenge the champion, and they would have to defend
- 22:56Speaker 1: that contract. Actually, it wasn't like a money in the
- 22:59Speaker 1: bank sittuation where we give you the where you win
- 23:02Speaker 1: this and you have it for a year and you're
- 23:04Speaker 1: the only one that's got to use it. No, they
- 23:06Speaker 1: had to actively defend it leading up to Wrestle Kingdom,
- 23:10Speaker 1: and that also gave the gave the booking and everything
- 23:15Speaker 1: a chance to build up this person say that, like,
- 23:17Speaker 1: maybe they weren't well known, but we're wanting to strap
- 23:20Speaker 1: the rocket to them now. We're gonna build them up
- 23:22Speaker 1: leading up to the big show while the champion is
- 23:25Speaker 1: also defending their title leading up to the show. But
- 23:29Speaker 1: for the past couple of years they have moved this
- 23:32Speaker 1: up three months to King of Pro Wrestling. So I
- 23:36Speaker 1: don't know, I give or take with it. I'm not
- 23:40Speaker 1: that big of a fan of it, but eh, I
- 23:43Speaker 1: don't know. Maybe also they're doing this because so many
- 23:45Speaker 1: New Japan fans are upset that Taqushto won the g One,
- 23:50Speaker 1: because there is quite a bit of them that are
- 23:52Speaker 1: upset about it because he's not technically contracted to New Japan,
- 23:57Speaker 1: so they're they're really upset about that. Yeah, yeah, anyway,
- 24:01Speaker 1: we're gonna shift gears to one.
- 24:03Speaker 3: This day in wrestling History.
- 24:15Speaker 1: August thirty first, nineteen eighty three, Terry Funk retires air
- 24:22Speaker 1: quotes for the first time. He would repeat his claim
- 24:25Speaker 1: numerous times in future decades. That was in nineteen eighty three.
- 24:29Speaker 1: That's a while, yeah, because then he pops up in
- 24:33Speaker 1: the nineties. Yeah, I think he had I think he
- 24:36Speaker 1: did have a program with Flair in the late eighties
- 24:40Speaker 1: or maybe that was the early eighties. I could be wrong,
- 24:43Speaker 1: and yeah, like he was. He was key to ECW's success,
- 24:49Speaker 1: and he wrestled like well into the two thousands. Yeah,
- 24:53Speaker 1: like we forever serious forever anyway. In August thirty first,
- 25:01Speaker 1: nineteen ninety eight, Miami Florid assess the stage for WCW
- 25:04Speaker 1: Monday Nitro and the build up to their pay per
- 25:07Speaker 1: view war Games Ool Games. I was going to play
- 25:11Speaker 1: the William Regals SoundBite there, but he's talking about NXT
- 25:16Speaker 1: war Games, so it is still fun to say oool Games.
- 25:20Speaker 1: The weekly show has wins for Goldberg and Chris Jericho
- 25:24Speaker 1: in separate matches, whereas Eddie Guerrero lays down in this
- 25:28Speaker 1: match against Brian Adams for Adams to get an easy win.
- 25:32Speaker 1: The main event features the team of Hollywood Hulk Hogan
- 25:36Speaker 1: and Brett Hart the Heels going against Sting and Lex
- 25:39Speaker 1: Luger The Faces The match ends in a count out
- 25:42Speaker 1: loss for Hogan Heart due to them arguing in the
- 25:45Speaker 1: aisle after Brett took Hogan's belt away from him that
- 25:48Speaker 1: he was using to whip sting. Afterwards, the Warrior appears
- 25:53Speaker 1: appears in a cloud of smoke in the ring, which
- 25:56Speaker 1: takes out the nWo. Lastly, August thirty first, twenty nineteen,
- 26:02Speaker 1: the second a TOW pay per view All Out came
- 26:06Speaker 1: to us from Seer Center in Chicago, Illinois. On the
- 26:08Speaker 1: pre show, Nila Rose won the twenty one woman Casino
- 26:13Speaker 1: Battle Royal to become the number one contender for the
- 26:16Speaker 1: Women's World Championship. The main event saw Chris Jericho defeat
- 26:20Speaker 1: Hangman Adam Page to become the first ever AW World Champion,
- 26:24Speaker 1: which meant that Jericho would go down as the first
- 26:27Speaker 1: person in history to have held the world title in WWE,
- 26:31Speaker 1: WCW and AW. We're going to take a quick break
- 26:35Speaker 1: and when we come back, we're gonna talk a little
- 26:37Speaker 1: bit about wrestling titles. Yeah, or one in particular. Yeah.
- 26:42Speaker 1: Stay tuned. Goods Time for War of the Grill out
- 26:50Speaker 1: Here's Hollywood, Jeff Petty, Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen too.
- 26:55Speaker 1: The grill Out. I'm your host, Hollywood, Jeff Petty. I'm
- 26:58Speaker 1: joined by Josh.
- 27:01Speaker 2: I've been waiting for the segment forever in a day.
- 27:03Speaker 2: Our favorite title the twenty four to seven Championship.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Well it's twenty four to seven champion esque. Oh yeah,
- 27:10Speaker 1: But we have talked about this title quite a bit.
- 27:12Speaker 1: We've talked about this title quite a bit off the air, Yeah,
- 27:16Speaker 1: just because of how wacky it is. Yeah, So one
- 27:20Speaker 1: thing like I will say this and you can you
- 27:23Speaker 1: can correct me or jump. In professional wrestling, I do
- 27:27Speaker 1: like for it to be serious. I do like my
- 27:29Speaker 1: serious wrestling, but I also like my goofy wrestling.
- 27:32Speaker 2: I like it to an extent.
- 27:33Speaker 1: Yeah, like it can be too much. Yeah, just like anything,
- 27:36Speaker 1: it can be too much of one thing. But I
- 27:39Speaker 1: do like some of the wackiness that goes into at
- 27:41Speaker 1: the times. This is one of them. So DDT Pro
- 27:45Speaker 1: Wrestling's Iron Man Heavy Metalweight Championship was established in June
- 27:50Speaker 1: of two thousand.
- 27:51Speaker 2: It doesn't sound like the title of it.
- 27:53Speaker 1: It does not. Once we start explaining more of it,
- 27:56Speaker 1: you're going to be like, what the belt itself, the titlechampionship,
- 28:00Speaker 1: whatever you wanna call it itself has a twenty four
- 28:03Speaker 1: to seven defense rule seven championship, yes, which means it
- 28:07Speaker 1: can be defended anytime in anywhere. This belt is not
- 28:10Speaker 1: exclusive to a certain gender or number of individuals for example,
- 28:13Speaker 1: for an for example, an entire audience has won the championship,
- 28:17Speaker 1: and in addam but objects have won it as well. Yeah,
- 28:21Speaker 1: the title was introduced by Poison Sawada Black, to which
- 28:25Speaker 1: he awarded it to himself. It is a parody of
- 28:29Speaker 1: the then WWF Hardcore Championship. So we're going to take
- 28:33Speaker 1: a look at this championship and it's rather precarious history.
- 28:39Speaker 1: I'm gonna pull this up. All of this is completely
- 28:41Speaker 1: coming from Wikipedia, so you can look all of this up.
- 28:45Speaker 1: Josh and I looked at this a little bit, what
- 28:48Speaker 1: a couple months ago, a month or two ago, and
- 28:50Speaker 1: just just kept having a good laugh about it.
- 28:53Speaker 2: But numerous champions said one thousand.
- 28:57Speaker 1: Yeah, how many? How many? How many are they? They're
- 29:00Speaker 1: on here a little lot? Uh yeah, like there is
- 29:03Speaker 1: like two thousand or okay, here we go list of
- 29:05Speaker 1: Ironman Heavy Metalweight champions. We big gosh.
- 29:10Speaker 2: Yeah, the title looks kind of cool. It's got some
- 29:12Speaker 2: brass knuckles on it. It does it does for some reason.
- 29:15Speaker 2: We are currently on number one thousand, seven hundred and
- 29:19Speaker 2: sixty six, which was Poketon won it on August twenty third,
- 29:25Speaker 2: twenty twenty five. Right now, let's see, the person who
- 29:32Speaker 2: has the most number of rains at fifty is Uh
- 29:36Speaker 2: Dandy Dino Uh with a combined rain of six hundred
- 29:40Speaker 2: and nineteen days of sixty one nine combined days on
- 29:44Speaker 2: that rain. Aja Kang has won it five times with
- 29:49Speaker 2: a two hundred and ninety seven combined rain combined days.
- 29:54Speaker 1: Let's see here. Uh, there's I mean, there's there's quite
- 30:03Speaker 1: a bit one here. Most of the names. I don't
- 30:06Speaker 1: recognize myself. Maki Eto here six rains at a combined
- 30:11Speaker 1: of twenty days. You don't recognize I do, remember, Yeah,
- 30:14Speaker 1: I'm saying I recognize machi Etho's name. There's a good
- 30:18Speaker 1: bit of them on here. I don't fully recognize. Called Cabana.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Two rains for a total of four days. Uh.
- 30:27Speaker 2: Let's see Tiger Mast of the Olympians zeus won it.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Where where do you see that?
- 30:33Speaker 2: He's at the bottom of the list. He's at the
- 30:34Speaker 2: very bottom of the less than a day.
- 30:37Speaker 1: There's a lot of them there. Less than a day.
- 30:39Speaker 2: Oh he is he it's just a Japanese rest so
- 30:42Speaker 2: he's not the real Zeason.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it's okay. It's x PAC won it, x
- 30:46Speaker 1: POC won it, yep, less than a day, one rain.
- 30:50Speaker 1: How do you ultraman? Where do you ultraman? Robin? Oh,
- 30:55Speaker 1: I see that less than today? How do you have
- 30:57Speaker 1: three wins three rains with it at less than a day?
- 31:02Speaker 3: Uh?
- 31:02Speaker 2: Probably like in a battle royal of some sort.
- 31:04Speaker 1: Probably because there's a person here, Uko Miyamato with two
- 31:09Speaker 1: hundred and fifteen rains less than a day. Yeah, what,
- 31:16Speaker 1: there's a note?
- 31:17Speaker 2: What's the note?
- 31:18Speaker 1: Tommy Dreamer two days, two rains at less than a day.
- 31:23Speaker 1: Let's see Timothy Thatcher one rain less than a day,
- 31:26Speaker 1: the Sandman one rain less than a day. Let's see
- 31:32Speaker 1: Hornswoggle two rains at less than a day. Yeah, it's
- 31:36Speaker 1: probably got to be like a battle royal type thing.
- 31:39Speaker 1: Scott Hall really yeah, Scott Hall one went one rain
- 31:45Speaker 1: at less than a day.
- 31:47Speaker 2: Oh, that's different.
- 31:48Speaker 1: Oscar SHANEA. Basler is also a former champion of IT
- 31:52Speaker 1: spider Man.
- 31:53Speaker 2: Spider Man spider Man's I think the greatest one head
- 32:00Speaker 2: to the student council to Kashi Sasaki.
- 32:04Speaker 1: On there. Yes, Rick Knox a W referee. Rick Knox
- 32:11Speaker 1: is a former champion. Rhino Yeah, that Rhino is a champion. Raymonsterio. Okay,
- 32:20Speaker 1: we're getting to some names that.
- 32:22Speaker 2: We two non six and seven to two six? Who
- 32:27Speaker 2: MVP A olivion boy.
- 32:30Speaker 1: A chef? Yes, uh, MJF. MJF is a former champion.
- 32:38Speaker 1: Matt Striker is also a former champion. Me a ym
- 32:41Speaker 1: also a former champion. You can tell I'm in the
- 32:44Speaker 1: MS right now. Leo rush h La Parka also a
- 32:47Speaker 1: former champion. Uh that that that that.
- 32:50Speaker 2: Would have done well with this title?
- 32:52Speaker 1: Who our truth? Yes? Yes, Joe Hendry's former champion. Uh uh,
- 33:00Speaker 1: let's see Frankie Kazarian, Drew Gulac, the Weird Ones, Chris
- 33:09Speaker 1: hero All. We're getting to that. Chris Masters is also
- 33:11Speaker 1: a former champion. Bryce Ramsburg, who was also a referee
- 33:16Speaker 1: for a W Bandido, is also a former champion.
- 33:21Speaker 4: Young Bucks together a taxi driver literally, a taxi driver, okay, okay,
- 33:28Speaker 4: so a taxi driver, a chef, and a television cameraman
- 33:32Speaker 4: and a blivion boy. Yes, I guess numbers to six
- 33:39Speaker 4: seven six?
- 33:40Speaker 1: I don't know. Zach Saber Junior also is a former champion.
- 33:45Speaker 1: Zach Saber Junior, Ricochet, Jungle Boy, Johnny Gargano, ex Caliber Chima,
- 33:52Speaker 1: Uh Lahiedra, Brian Cage, Rocky Romeros. Yeah, yeah, the same
- 33:59Speaker 1: man as a former champion. Let's see. Uh is that
- 34:06Speaker 1: Tayer val Karia?
- 34:08Speaker 4: No?
- 34:09Speaker 1: What? Okay? I thought that said Layer Vacariia. It's not Uh,
- 34:14Speaker 1: let's see that. That that the Tiger's mask. Tiger's mask
- 34:18Speaker 1: or tiger mask, Yeah, Tiger's mask. Let's see. Penelope Ford
- 34:23Speaker 1: is also a former champion. She held it for eight days.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Let's see. Yeah. Yeah, head of the Student Council, Takashi
- 34:33Speaker 1: Sasaki uh okay, Yeah, there's a lot. Orange Casside is
- 34:41Speaker 1: also a former champion. Yeah. Like I said, maki Ito Osca,
- 34:46Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure. Oh it is it is? It is
- 34:48Speaker 1: a different Oscar.
- 34:49Speaker 3: Uh.
- 34:50Speaker 1: Yeah, because she was known as Kana in Japan. So yeah.
- 34:54Speaker 1: Britt Baker is also a former champion. Uh Kodybushi three
- 35:00Speaker 1: time champion. Let's see Dean malinko.
- 35:06Speaker 2: H Dean Malenko of all people, he held it.
- 35:10Speaker 1: For fifty six days on one rain.
- 35:14Speaker 2: So what's what's the longest single rain?
- 35:17Speaker 1: I don't know. Uh, it should be in here somewhere.
- 35:21Speaker 1: It's probably the top. Yeah, probably so long of a page,
- 35:26Speaker 1: that's what I mean. Like, there's oh, there's almost two
- 35:28Speaker 1: thousand different champions for this. Let's see.
- 35:35Speaker 2: Oh the longest oh, that's combined rain?
- 35:37Speaker 1: Is it combined? Oh? Combined rain? It's like six hundred
- 35:40Speaker 1: some days. Okay.
- 35:40Speaker 2: The longest rain is Masa Takanachi's sixth rain. It was
- 35:45Speaker 2: three hundred and thirty three days.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Oh wow, Yeah, that's.
- 35:48Speaker 2: The longest singular rain.
- 35:50Speaker 1: Okay.
- 35:53Speaker 2: So out of these one thousand, seven hundred and sixty
- 35:56Speaker 2: six rains, only one hundred and fifty five held them
- 35:59Speaker 2: for longer than.
- 36:00Speaker 1: A day a day, yeah, okay. So, as of this
- 36:04Speaker 1: coming straight from the Wikipedia page, as of August thirty first,
- 36:07Speaker 1: twenty twenty five, there have been one thousand, seven hundred
- 36:11Speaker 1: and fifty six officially recognized rat yes updated, Oh yeah
- 36:15Speaker 1: it is. Yeah, it's like one thousand and seven to
- 36:17Speaker 1: sixty something. Yeah, right, was it as Okay, Yeah, it doesn'tdated. Yeah,
- 36:23Speaker 1: between four hundred and thirty one different human individuals, eight teams,
- 36:26Speaker 1: and fifty seven inanimate objects and animals. The record for
- 36:30Speaker 1: most reigns is held by Shinobu, who won it two
- 36:33Speaker 1: hundred and sixteen times. I wonder our truth? How much
- 36:40Speaker 1: do that be? You know?
- 36:42Speaker 2: The greatest twenty four seven seven eleven European International Interstate
- 36:48Speaker 2: Basket Champion.
- 36:48Speaker 1: I don't know the title has a casket. Here's one.
- 36:53Speaker 1: The title has occasionally been won by unusual means, such
- 36:56Speaker 1: as an auction for the belt, rock, paper scissors, and
- 37:02Speaker 1: even a title change that occurred in a dream. Very
- 37:07Speaker 1: meta of them. Yeah yeah, this is completely like a
- 37:11Speaker 1: parody of the WWF Hardcore Championship. Just to go back.
- 37:17Speaker 1: Uh yeah, as far as like, I guess, a monkey,
- 37:20Speaker 1: a cat, and a dog have won it. Inanimate objects
- 37:24Speaker 1: this is the hilarious part. A ladder, a Hello Kitty
- 37:29Speaker 1: doll and I'm not gonna go through all of them.
- 37:31Speaker 1: A baseball bat, a pro Wrestling wave poster which is
- 37:39Speaker 1: a Joshi promotion in Japan Big Japan Pro Wrestling ring truck.
- 37:45Speaker 1: A ringside matt from Ice Ribbon has also won it.
- 37:49Speaker 1: Uh two different steel chairs, three different was it? Kindo?
- 37:54Speaker 3: Sticks?
- 37:55Speaker 1: Oh? No? Sticks of yacki torri, which is a chicken
- 38:00Speaker 1: karaokey chicken cooked over the Yeah, chucko fire. Uh. The
- 38:05Speaker 1: idaw GP Junior Heavyweight Championship belt has also won it
- 38:09Speaker 1: Lord Vince McMahon's Hollywood Walk of Fame star.
- 38:14Speaker 2: This is so big they had to split in the
- 38:15Speaker 2: two pages.
- 38:16Speaker 1: Did they really? Yeah?
- 38:17Speaker 2: Oh my goodness, they have They have it from two
- 38:20Speaker 2: thousand two nine to present.
- 38:22Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, Killing the Business. A copy of the
- 38:26Speaker 1: Young Bucks autobiography in three pages.
- 38:28Speaker 2: I'm sorry, it's two nineteen.
- 38:33Speaker 1: God, I love professional wrestling. A Christmas tree? Uh, Stefan
- 38:40Speaker 1: the Dinosaur which was a stuff dinosaur. Uh, let's see
- 38:45Speaker 1: a a camera crane? Uh? A bus? Where is the
- 38:53Speaker 1: one about the entire audience members? The title belt itself,
- 38:58Speaker 1: the championship itself has won the championship.
- 39:04Speaker 2: Uh, there was a little list down here? Where was it?
- 39:08Speaker 1: Let's see, and the Young Bucks are former champions.
- 39:12Speaker 2: One hundred thousand subscribers to the official YouTube channel the
- 39:17Speaker 2: the what yeah say that again? One hundred thousand subscribers
- 39:21Speaker 2: to the official I guess the ET's official YouTube channel.
- 39:24Speaker 2: So I don't know how that happens?
- 39:26Speaker 1: Can I can I put that on my resume?
- 39:30Speaker 2: The Beyond Wrestling audience.
- 39:33Speaker 1: What yeah, it's it's hilarious.
- 39:38Speaker 2: The Young books.
- 39:38Speaker 1: Hey yeah, yeah, yeah, the yeah. Uh, the entire audience
- 39:42Speaker 1: at Beyond Wrestling's America Rana sixteen event in twenty sixteen.
- 39:47Speaker 1: Uh yeah yeah, the one hundred thousand subscribers Josha sell.
- 39:50Speaker 2: The books is autobiography killing the business.
- 39:53Speaker 1: Yeah, that's hilarious. The Invisible Man has also won it.
- 39:57Speaker 2: Uhcotons head, not Poketon but his head. What yeah, oh
- 40:03Speaker 2: my goodness, Poketon is the current champion.
- 40:08Speaker 1: I don't you know. That's the thing. Also about like
- 40:12Speaker 1: these twenty four to seven championship like type belts titles.
- 40:19Speaker 1: Josh is gonna kill me because I keep saying belt.
- 40:21Speaker 1: It's you don't like you can kind of just go
- 40:26Speaker 1: any direction you want to. If it's bad, don't say it.
- 40:29Speaker 2: The Big Japan PROG Wrestling ring truck.
- 40:31Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, exactly. Yeah, the ring truck has won.
- 40:35Speaker 1: A ladder has also won, like a steel ladder.
- 40:38Speaker 2: A dish, just a random dish, disposable chopsticks.
- 40:44Speaker 1: What, oh my goodness, a pork bun, a foot massage matt,
- 40:51Speaker 1: A printed email.
- 40:52Speaker 2: Oh so we had the iron that the title itself
- 40:55Speaker 2: has won of the.
- 40:55Speaker 1: T hold on, hold on hold that thought. A printed email.
- 41:00Speaker 2: I wonder what was on the email.
- 41:03Speaker 1: I don't know. Go ahead, so.
- 41:05Speaker 2: That the title itself has won itself, but also the
- 41:08Speaker 2: IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship belt has won.
- 41:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I really wonder what Our Truth would would do
- 41:17Speaker 1: with this. Yeah. I feel like Our Truth should go
- 41:21Speaker 1: on a world tour and just just win every twenty
- 41:24Speaker 1: four to seven type belt there.
- 41:25Speaker 2: Is to add to his ego. Vince mcmanon's Hollywood Walk
- 41:29Speaker 2: of Fame star, Yeah, yeah, I don't Could they take
- 41:33Speaker 2: the star off the ground?
- 41:35Speaker 1: I don't know. I really, for the life of me,
- 41:39Speaker 1: do not know. A wrestling poster won it?
- 41:41Speaker 2: Also a yellow iPhone fourteen?
- 41:44Speaker 1: What? Yeah? Okay? Whatever a Z star is okay? Uh?
- 41:51Speaker 2: Yackatry one, two and three.
- 41:53Speaker 1: Hold on, I'm gonna go over here because, like I
- 41:55Speaker 1: see similar titles to WWE twenty four to seven Championship.
- 42:00Speaker 1: I'm just going over here browsing real quick. I want
- 42:03Speaker 1: to see how many times did ar Truce win it?
- 42:06Speaker 1: Fifty four times?
- 42:07Speaker 2: I think officially it's like fifty two or fifty three,
- 42:10Speaker 2: but yeah, fifty four because there's one or two they
- 42:12Speaker 2: don't recognize for some reason.
- 42:14Speaker 1: Why would you? Okay, okay, they did like.
- 42:17Speaker 2: A commercial for old spice or something, and they're not
- 42:20Speaker 2: recognizing what happened in that commercial.
- 42:23Speaker 1: If you can change the title in a dream, I
- 42:26Speaker 1: know this isn't the same promotion, but it's the same rules.
- 42:30Speaker 1: If you can change the title in a dream, Yeah,
- 42:33Speaker 1: you can change the title in an old space ad. Yeah.
- 42:37Speaker 2: It's funny that people hated on the twenty four to
- 42:39Speaker 2: seven title and this is maybe worse in a way.
- 42:44Speaker 1: Yeah, and this has been going on for twenty five years. Yeah,
- 42:47Speaker 1: twenty five years, this has been going on. I've I
- 42:51Speaker 1: initially heard about this title back in twenty eighteen, I
- 42:56Speaker 1: think so several years ago, like when I first started
- 42:59Speaker 1: getting into you.
- 43:00Speaker 2: I think you might have mentioned it some sometime around
- 43:03Speaker 2: there as well. Yeah, I think how I.
- 43:05Speaker 1: Briefly heard of it, Yeah, because like I just i'd
- 43:08Speaker 1: never heard about it. And when I first heard iron
- 43:10Speaker 1: Man Heavy Metalweight Championship, I'm like, oh, Okay, that's got
- 43:13Speaker 1: to be like a hardcore championship or like you know,
- 43:15Speaker 1: some type of some type of extreme rules type deal.
- 43:19Speaker 1: It's not. It's really not. It's it's literally a joke belt. Yeah.
- 43:26Speaker 1: Like also, I wish I was part of the one
- 43:30Speaker 1: hundred thousand subscribers to DDT's official YouTube channel to win
- 43:34Speaker 1: Win the Belt, because I would put that on my resume. Yeah,
- 43:37Speaker 1: I would put down that I am a former DDT
- 43:40Speaker 1: Pro iron Man heavy Metal Weight Champion. Yeah, yeah, exactly
- 43:45Speaker 1: like I would. I would do that. No, probably not.
- 43:48Speaker 1: I'm joking.
- 43:50Speaker 2: I mean if you if you, if you like we're
- 43:52Speaker 2: listing like the grill out under your thing, you'd be hey,
- 43:54Speaker 2: I'm even a iron Man heavy Metal champion, exactly.
- 44:00Speaker 1: Like I said. I do like the serious wrestling, you know,
- 44:06Speaker 1: I very much. I I love that stuff. But also
- 44:11Speaker 1: the thing is about professional wrestling is it's it's a
- 44:13Speaker 1: variety show. So like it's okay to have some of
- 44:16Speaker 1: your comedy sprinkled in there. Yeah, you know it should
- 44:22Speaker 1: it be your entire focus man, Maybe not, like I guess,
- 44:27Speaker 1: unless you want to to for that type of audience.
- 44:30Speaker 1: And I'm not saying that in a disparaging way. If
- 44:32Speaker 1: you want the type of audience to that loves like
- 44:35Speaker 1: comedy wrestling in general to be your target audience, and
- 44:38Speaker 1: you know, more power to you. Yeah. But yeah, this
- 44:42Speaker 1: right here is this has to be the whack one
- 44:45Speaker 1: of the wackiest belts ever in professional wrestling. Oh, a
- 44:52Speaker 1: piece of Rice wanted a trash ben.
- 44:57Speaker 2: I wonder if they like lost the piece of Rice, Like,
- 45:01Speaker 2: is that Rice maybe technically still the champion?
- 45:09Speaker 1: Okay? Uh maybe chair one and chair two? What? And
- 45:17Speaker 1: literally like you like so with like Wikipedia, you know,
- 45:20Speaker 1: it's it's got like a blue link and it can
- 45:21Speaker 1: take you to like another thing. And I see Rice
- 45:24Speaker 1: and I'm like, is that like a wrestler's name. No,
- 45:27Speaker 1: it's literally Rice an apple yep, and off tow a
- 45:33Speaker 1: desk a just beer. Yeah, all right, we're gonna well,
- 45:40Speaker 1: we're not gonna take a break. There's a little bit
- 45:42Speaker 1: here more here what what? Oh? Yeah, yeah, yeah, uh
- 45:45Speaker 1: well actually we will. We will do that in the
- 45:48Speaker 1: main event, which is now it looks like all the
- 45:51Speaker 1: topic has been done. It's time for the main event.
- 45:56Speaker 1: So welcome to the main event, where we go a
- 45:58Speaker 1: head and let you know what's your upcoming week for
- 46:00Speaker 1: national wrestling is going to look like internationally, nationally and
- 46:02Speaker 1: of course locally real quick before we get to that,
- 46:04Speaker 1: we would typically save this for our final segment, but
- 46:07Speaker 1: since we were already talking about the title, the Iron
- 46:10Speaker 1: Man Heavy Metalweight Championship. The most recent title changes for
- 46:13Speaker 1: the iron Man A Heavy Metalweight Championship occurred on August
- 46:16Speaker 1: twenty third at Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling's event Tokyo Princess
- 46:20Speaker 1: Cup Night five. Going into this event, uh Juri Suzu
- 46:26Speaker 1: I guess, a South African Marine Predator lab student, was
- 46:32Speaker 1: the champion. Yeah. Firstly, Chouh defeated Suzu by pinning her
- 46:40Speaker 1: before the start of the eight woman Battle Royal. My
- 46:44Speaker 1: hero Kudu Kiriukri You I guess then pin Kaichu to
- 46:50Speaker 1: eliminate her from the Battle Royal and also win the title.
- 46:54Speaker 1: Suzu then won back to the title by last eliminating Mayu,
- 46:58Speaker 1: Yamashita and Raku simultaneously from the Battle Royal. Lastly, Pokaton,
- 47:03Speaker 1: the mascot of d d Heapro Wrestling, won the title
- 47:06Speaker 1: by penning Suzu backstage. So, as of August thirty first,
- 47:10Speaker 1: Pokaton is the current iron Man Heavy Metalweight Champion. Yeah,
- 47:14Speaker 1: and that will most likely change within the next twenty
- 47:16Speaker 1: four hours. Yeah.
- 47:17Speaker 3: Yep.
- 47:18Speaker 1: All right, So the main event forgot to mention it
- 47:20Speaker 1: last week, but Real American Freestyle Wrestling had its debut
- 47:24Speaker 1: event this past Saturday, August thirtieth. This is a legitimate
- 47:27Speaker 1: wrestling promotion for Greco Roman Wrestling or what pro wrestling
- 47:32Speaker 1: refers to as amateur wrestling. It's actually referred to mainly
- 47:35Speaker 1: as amateur wrestling. I have a friend of mine that
- 47:38Speaker 1: used to be a wrestling coach inl like for like
- 47:42Speaker 1: middle schools and stuff, and I said Greco Roman Wrestling
- 47:45Speaker 1: to him one time and he goes, it's amateur wrestling,
- 47:47Speaker 1: so he is sort of a professional wrestling event. He's
- 47:50Speaker 1: more of an MMA fan, so he corrected me on that.
- 47:53Speaker 1: So this is an actual professional promotion of for wrestling
- 47:59Speaker 1: feature NCAA and Olympic wrestlers. The event was originally backed
- 48:04Speaker 1: by the late HAULK. Hogan as well as Eric Bischoff,
- 48:06Speaker 1: and they had a tribute video for Hogan at the event.
- 48:10Speaker 1: Their next event is in November, and they're planning a
- 48:13Speaker 1: weekly TV series to launch in twenty twenty six, and
- 48:16Speaker 1: apparently that's supposed to be on Fox Nation. Yeah all right,
- 48:18Speaker 1: so as far as everywhere else internationally and nationally. Friday,
- 48:21Speaker 1: September fifth, Major Leaf, Maple Leaf, Major Leaf, Maple Leaf
- 48:26Speaker 1: Pro Wrestling, Sacred Ground, Canada, Yes, Saturday, September sixth, Stardom
- 48:32Speaker 1: to the World, and then also Sunday, September seventh, New
- 48:36Speaker 1: Japan Pro Wrestling Eugen Nagata produced Blue Justice sixteen will
- 48:41Speaker 1: take place. And then of course everything else that is
- 48:44Speaker 1: going on in professional wrestling is not really changing. I
- 48:47Speaker 1: mean what you're going to see on television. Locally, on Friday,
