- 0:00Speaker 1: Because so it's fair to say Kirk causes the falcons.
- 0:02Speaker 1: There's no there's no beef involved.
- 0:04Speaker 2: No, and I don't think there can be. I don't
- 0:06Speaker 2: think it's helpful. Like we're trying to win a super
- 0:08Speaker 2: Bowl and it's hard enough to the garden games.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Language, no memory, no simple, It's.
- 0:38Speaker 4: All right, ladies, jentleman, Welcome to another episode of Busting
- 0:41Speaker 4: with the Boys. This is episode two seventy six, and
- 0:45Speaker 4: I want to talk to you about something that's near
- 0:47Speaker 4: and dear to my heart, and that's the Chevy Silverado.
- 0:49Speaker 4: Bust with the Boys is presented by Chevy. This is
- 0:51Speaker 4: a Chevy truck podcast, the greatest truck ever built, and
- 0:55Speaker 4: our good friends at Chevrolet have been a big part
- 0:59Speaker 4: of the Bust and family and even our personal lives.
- 1:02Speaker 4: Chevy Silverado longtime awesome partner of the show. A truck
- 1:05Speaker 4: with commanding and an unstoppable grit, legendary capability and dependability too.

- 1:12Speaker 4: head over to Chevy dot com to check out all
- 1:14Speaker 4: the Chevy trucks grit and build your own Silverado for
- 1:18Speaker 4: do yourself projects, to road trips, off road adventures, to tailgates,
- 1:21Speaker 4: what wherever your whatever, your thing is. It all starts
- 1:26Speaker 4: with the Chevy truck. Tough start to my reading on
- 1:29Speaker 4: this episode, but you know what, that's what we do sometimes.
- 1:32Speaker 4: We are so excited to have you here a big podcast.
- 1:35Speaker 4: This week, a gentleman by the name of Kirk Cousins
- 1:38Speaker 4: joins us in Atlanta. You want to open that uh
- 1:41Speaker 4: that gate up the door for uh Sammy.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Yes, say.
- 1:46Speaker 4: Let's give a round of applause. Black Friday Winter, Sammy Baby.
- 1:53Speaker 4: Let me just give you a little piece of the
- 1:56Speaker 4: character of Sammy. I show up before our meeting we
- 1:59Speaker 4: have before, we had a podcast just before this episode,
- 2:03Speaker 4: and Sammy's sitting up there. Say hello to him, say
- 2:06Speaker 4: what's up? There is sitting two big bags of Chick
- 2:09Speaker 4: fil A and enough vanilla lattes to give to a
- 2:11Speaker 4: whole family. It was incredible. Came correct, Sammy, what's the
- 2:16Speaker 4: should you be on the show? Brother?
- 2:17Speaker 5: Thanks for having me.
- 2:18Speaker 4: And you drove down from Chicago today? Is that true?
- 2:20Speaker 5: Central Illinois?
- 2:21Speaker 4: Yeah, but I'm from Chicago, Central Illinois. How long is
- 2:23Speaker 4: that drive?
- 2:24Speaker 5: I left this morning at two thirty in.
- 2:26Speaker 1: The morning the morning.
- 2:27Speaker 4: Why did you just I don't know the day before
- 2:32Speaker 4: Mother's Day fair, once again adding to your character, sir, unbelievable. Yeah,
- 2:37Speaker 4: give us a syndicator, give me a little backstory and you
- 2:39Speaker 4: real quick. Yeah, age, obviously you're from Chicago, and how
- 2:42Speaker 4: old were you when you lost your virginity?
- 2:45Speaker 5: I'm thirty four, born and raised in Illinois. But unfortunately
- 2:49Speaker 5: I'm not giving a ton of opportunities to be fans
- 2:52Speaker 5: of good football. So I was it twenty ten, no.
- 2:57Speaker 5: Two thousand and one when the Oilers moved from Houston
- 3:01Speaker 5: to Tennessee to Tennessee Oilers for a year, whatever. But
- 3:04Speaker 5: I need a football team, and the Titans were a
- 3:07Speaker 5: perfect kind of mold there. I guess. I like uniforms.
- 3:12Speaker 5: I liked their Frank whitechek Adie, George, the whole, the
- 3:15Speaker 5: whole team there. Jeff Fisher was my guy. It's a
- 3:18Speaker 5: long story short. I was Stooley in twenty eleven and
- 3:21Speaker 5: then once you kind of joined the mothership if you will. Uh,
- 3:26Speaker 5: it seemed like a perfect synergy between the two brands,
- 3:28Speaker 5: and I've been a fan ever since.
- 3:31Speaker 1: I love that.
- 3:32Speaker 4: Let's give this man another reb That was incredible, Thank.
- 3:35Speaker 1: You, absolutely, it was big time you walk upstairs and
- 3:38Speaker 1: you see all the Chick fil A. You didn't come
- 3:40Speaker 1: empty handed.
- 3:41Speaker 5: My mom has always taught us never walk into a
- 3:43Speaker 5: house empty handed.
- 3:44Speaker 1: And it's great, that's beautiful. That's a shout out, no
- 3:46Speaker 1: free shout out.
- 3:47Speaker 4: It really is truly.
- 3:49Speaker 1: When people don't come empty handed.
- 3:52Speaker 4: Yahout out for sure, great shout out. Is this everything
- 3:55Speaker 4: you thought it would be coming on the bus.
- 3:56Speaker 5: It's definitely surreal. Yeah, I mean we've met times uh
- 4:01Speaker 5: barcel Wards, Vegas, Uh, Scottsdale maybe, and it's just uh
- 4:07Speaker 5: but seeing this whole operation is just insane to see live.
- 4:11Speaker 4: And you you're wearing the shirt that you wanted to
- 4:13Speaker 4: be a part of. You were saying you wanted to
- 4:14Speaker 4: gamble with us in Vegas.
- 4:16Speaker 5: Perhaps I might have brought some money too today. I
- 4:20Speaker 5: might have brought some money today. We were talking about here,
- 4:23Speaker 5: I know.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Do we have a deck of cards? No? You could
- 4:25Speaker 1: be the house.
- 4:26Speaker 4: No that is what's your sounds like you have a
- 4:31Speaker 4: proposition for me?
- 4:32Speaker 1: Correct?
- 4:33Speaker 5: Go ahead, whether it's obviously you guys are slammed full
- 4:37Speaker 5: in June with obligations, but a power slap down the road.
- 4:41Speaker 5: I will take care of all my you know, travel, transport,
- 4:45Speaker 5: all that stuff Hotel. I would love an opportunity to
- 4:48Speaker 5: be in a tunnel KOs So at some point that's
- 4:50Speaker 5: a huge ask. I get that big as.
- 4:55Speaker 1: The eye.
- 4:56Speaker 5: I brought the ten k for whatever I would put
- 5:00Speaker 5: on the table. If I lose that, I lose it.
- 5:02Speaker 5: I do not care about the money. It's the fact
- 5:04Speaker 5: that someone once told me that a victorious warrior wins
- 5:08Speaker 5: first and then they go to war, whether than losers
- 5:11Speaker 5: go to war seeking to win. So I came here
- 5:14Speaker 5: today with maybe an opportunity to win.
- 5:17Speaker 4: So you're gonna come on. You're gonna come on this bus.
- 5:19Speaker 4: You're gonna bring Chick fil a so vanilla lattes, have
- 5:22Speaker 4: good vibes and tell the story ten grand and you're
- 5:26Speaker 4: gonna drop a son Sue quote on me from the
- 5:28Speaker 4: Art of War told me right now that's also incredible. Yeah. No,
- 5:35Speaker 4: we don't have to talk about anything. At some point
- 5:38Speaker 4: we can go. You can come to a power Slap
- 5:39Speaker 4: event all that stuff. You mean, Jackie and whoever else
- 5:43Speaker 4: wants to come, because jack is always jack is the
- 5:45Speaker 4: biggest power slap fan of all of them. He loves
- 5:48Speaker 4: the road, he loves it. I can promise you this,
- 5:53Speaker 4: You and I can gamble together. You can use as
- 5:54Speaker 4: much as that ten thousand dollars you want. I can't
- 5:56Speaker 4: promise that you're gonna gamble with Dana White, that fair.
- 5:59Speaker 5: I don't care about that. I don't care about content
- 6:03Speaker 5: or anything like that.
- 6:03Speaker 1: I just want the experience.
- 6:05Speaker 5: I want to go to war. Yeah, my god, I
- 6:08Speaker 5: really want to go to I've been a gambler since
- 6:11Speaker 5: I don't know, since turned twenty one.
- 6:14Speaker 4: Sport answer.
- 6:16Speaker 5: Yeah, I definitely didn't have a book either, A half
- 6:18Speaker 5: two years before that. Yeah, I mean, I know you
- 6:21Speaker 5: just kind of fell in love with it, but it's
- 6:23Speaker 5: been been in my blood all my life, and I
- 6:25Speaker 5: love it and just the thrill and the whole part
- 6:28Speaker 5: about being in the trenches with the boys. There's nothing better.
- 6:32Speaker 1: I mean, that favorite. Here we go. It's a test
- 6:36Speaker 1: favorite sports betting app.
- 6:38Speaker 5: Oh, DraftKings. I love DraftKings when it shouldn't have been
- 6:41Speaker 5: DraftKings when it was the other guy, and I would
- 6:45Speaker 5: happen to have to use like I put like a
- 6:48Speaker 5: dollar on the the other app, and then I'd use
- 6:50Speaker 5: all the other money on DraftKings. Nice, just make sure
- 6:52Speaker 5: I was supporting. Yeah, just the the same game. Parlays
- 6:57Speaker 5: all the stuff that DraftKings has. It's way better than.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Any other And just for everybody watching listening right now
- 7:03Speaker 1: wherever you're getting your podcast, make sure you are subscribed. Sammy,
- 7:07Speaker 1: he was our Black Friday winner, one of our big
- 7:09Speaker 1: spenders last year. Who's joining us for a day basically
- 7:12Speaker 1: at the shop for everybody who came for Kirk Cousins
- 7:15Speaker 1: that is in due time. It was a phenomenal interview.
- 7:19Speaker 1: We talked to him about the quarterback Netflix, coming out
- 7:22Speaker 1: of fan favor, love for Legos. He has love for Legos,
- 7:24Speaker 1: scratching that itch Rex Grossman like, hey, spend some money.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Kirk is very much a laced up Maybe one day
- 7:30Speaker 1: he'll buy himself a watch or something.
- 7:31Speaker 4: Right, he's made a billion dollars and he's thinking about
- 7:34Speaker 4: possibly buying a sports cars someday. Truly. We've had him
- 7:37Speaker 4: on the podcast before and it was great, but something
- 7:40Speaker 4: about this interview, he just seems so much more loose,
- 7:42Speaker 4: so much more relaxed when you expected to kind of
- 7:44Speaker 4: be the polar opposite after the whole Pennex pick.
- 7:46Speaker 1: At eight and now all that like which we get
- 7:48Speaker 1: into it. He was awesome, was incredible talking about the Achilles,
- 7:52Speaker 1: like the move from Minnesota, choosing Atlanta, not re signing
- 7:56Speaker 1: with Minnesota. We got into a lot of stuff and
- 7:58Speaker 1: you're right, like afterwards, it's like he's a role model cat.
- 8:01Speaker 4: He is. We said this on the drive back from Atlanta.
- 8:05Speaker 4: Kirk Cousins is a guy you and your boys who
- 8:07Speaker 4: are going out partying with in college make fun of.
- 8:10Speaker 4: You make fun of Kirk Cousins when you're in college,
- 8:12Speaker 4: like this guy, he didn't do anything. He's such a
- 8:13Speaker 4: square at this, that and the other. Fast forward thirty two,
- 8:16Speaker 4: thirty four years old. You think Kirk Cousins the guy
- 8:19Speaker 4: you want to be, Like, yeah, that he just represents
- 8:22Speaker 4: what it is to be a family man, to be
- 8:24Speaker 4: a professional, the way he handles himself. I to have
- 8:27Speaker 4: a lot of admiration for Kirk Cousins, especially after this interview.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Yeah, and the leader man. It's like even when he's
- 8:33Speaker 1: somebody that you say you're in college with and say,
- 8:36Speaker 1: oh he does is like he's kind of a square,
- 8:37Speaker 1: YadA YadA. You're ultimately saying that, but you know, deep
- 8:40Speaker 1: down that's how you should be handling right exactly. He
- 8:43Speaker 1: just don't have the word. You don't have the discipline
- 8:45Speaker 1: and the wherewith zac at it. So it's easier to
- 8:47Speaker 1: just make fun of it and laugh at it. But
- 8:49Speaker 1: you know that we should all be that, we should
- 8:52Speaker 1: all strive to be like like Kirk Cousins.
- 8:53Speaker 4: Now, obviously we were super excited to have Kirk Cousins
- 8:56Speaker 4: on the show, but the thing that Kirk was most
- 8:57Speaker 4: excited about being on the show was explaining to us
- 9:00Speaker 4: that quarter socks are back. Yeah, yeah, absolutely love or
- 9:05Speaker 4: some quarter socks we should have. I'm wearing ankle socks
- 9:07Speaker 4: right now, like some sort of twenty twenty three bitch dude.
- 9:10Speaker 4: I should I'm not with the times. Maybe we should
- 9:12Speaker 4: do it with him, go back to quarters. Warner does it,
- 9:15Speaker 4: and if Fred Warner doesn't, that's cool.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:16Speaker 4: Fred Warner is a guy. When you see him, you're
- 9:18Speaker 4: just like, this guy looks cool. He just is a
- 9:20Speaker 4: cool looking cat. Yeah he's got he's got the build,
- 9:23Speaker 4: but he's also got the dreads hanging out. He's got
- 9:25Speaker 4: a little style to him. That's a guy you want
- 9:27Speaker 4: to follow because he's not too over the top. You're like,
- 9:29Speaker 4: I can never pull that off. Yeah, he's a dude
- 9:31Speaker 4: that like I can maybe do a little bit of
- 9:32Speaker 4: that and get some residuals.
- 9:34Speaker 1: And then you just so happen to see quarter socks
- 9:36Speaker 1: on him and you're like, those dude gotta go hard.
- 9:39Speaker 4: Yeah, they kind of are nice. I wonder what's setting
- 9:41Speaker 4: those shoes off right now? Quarter socks. That's exactly what's
- 9:43Speaker 4: gotta be THK, we.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Should do it all right. I got some small white
- 9:46Speaker 1: ones on right now.
- 9:47Speaker 4: Those aren't quarters though, those are ankle boys.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Yeah, and the quarter ones are probably go over the
- 9:51Speaker 1: little nine. Yeah, it would happen. Uh, it would be
- 9:53Speaker 1: better suited for this. This news we received every weekend
- 9:57Speaker 1: of We're pregnant, the dad buy we are pregnant. There's
- 10:04Speaker 1: a lot of a lot of hearsay, a lot of
- 10:07Speaker 1: a lot of a lot of for interpretation on the
- 10:09Speaker 1: apps on Will looks disappointed, he's bummed that it's a girl.
- 10:13Speaker 1: I know. I put the guy that looked excited and
- 10:16Speaker 1: he's smiling but has a gun to his head.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Right.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Uh, there's a lot up for interpretation, but I will
- 10:21Speaker 1: say this, I am disappointed. And it was one of
- 10:27Speaker 1: those things.
- 10:27Speaker 4: Oh you okay, you're doubling down.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Yeah for sure. I mean my wife she was she
- 10:31Speaker 1: was surprised, just like me your boy. It's more of
- 10:34Speaker 1: like because I was telling even before, I felt like
- 10:36Speaker 1: I was separated enough from being pregnant, because I think
- 10:40Speaker 1: we're at like twelve weeks right now or thirteen weeks,
- 10:42Speaker 1: separated enough to be like, yo, if I get another
- 10:44Speaker 1: rule like I'm playing with house money, like I'd be satisfied.
- 10:47Speaker 1: I'd be solid, like do I actually want a boy?
- 10:49Speaker 1: YadA YadA. And it was when I saw that pink
- 10:52Speaker 1: to where I realized how badly I did want a boy,
- 10:55Speaker 1: and not that it's necessarily there's no chances for having
- 10:59Speaker 1: a boy, because they could obviously take that risk again,
- 11:03Speaker 1: but also it's like I didn't know if I wanted three, right,
- 11:06Speaker 1: and now that that pink came out, I'm gonna have
- 11:09Speaker 1: two girls. I almost am certain that we have to
- 11:13Speaker 1: go for three to go for the boy. So that
- 11:15Speaker 1: was part of my disappointment on my face too. It
- 11:17Speaker 1: was like, now we gotta go three, and I don't know.
- 11:19Speaker 1: I don't think I was ready. I don't think I
- 11:21Speaker 1: wanted three, right. You know, everybody, once you're out numbered,
- 11:23Speaker 1: it's fucking it's warri.
- 11:25Speaker 4: You're playing Zone the whole time. Yeah, what you just
- 11:27Speaker 4: explained is how middle child syndrome develops. Everything you just said, like,
- 11:34Speaker 4: I don't know who this child, what this child's name
- 11:36Speaker 4: is gonna be, what her personality gonna be. Like, I'm
- 11:38Speaker 4: sure she's gonna be great if she's anything like real. Yeah, However,
- 11:41Speaker 4: when that third and probably boy comes out, that's why
- 11:44Speaker 4: they call the middle child that forgotten.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Child, especially if she listens to this episode of her
- 11:48Speaker 1: old man.
- 11:48Speaker 4: Yeah, just being literally sat there with my wife and
- 11:51Speaker 4: we were scrolling through your instagram Sunday night, and she goes,
- 11:54Speaker 4: if we have another girl, you can't you can't post that.
- 11:58Speaker 4: I was like, why, that's funny, Like funny is fun
- 12:00Speaker 4: That's what funny is. Yeah, She's like, but our daughter,
- 12:02Speaker 4: if it is a daughter, which, by the way, now
- 12:04Speaker 4: that will like women when they get their periods, that
- 12:07Speaker 4: they blue tooth sync up. We're always together, they do that. Yeah,
- 12:10Speaker 4: and they all get on the same period schedule. I
- 12:12Speaker 4: am a firm belief that men that hang out together
- 12:15Speaker 4: we also sink up. I'm doomed to.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Have another girl. We're on the same sperm cycle.
- 12:19Speaker 4: Yes, we're on the same sperm cycle. And you can
- 12:22Speaker 4: break the mold don't say that I'm trying to reverse
- 12:25Speaker 4: psychology of the universe, like, hey, there's no shot I'm
- 12:28Speaker 4: gonna have a boy, Am I right? You know?
- 12:30Speaker 1: But are you openly playing the joke in the game,
- 12:33Speaker 1: Because here's the I guess the only thing caution is
- 12:36Speaker 1: I felt like I was separate enough to where I
- 12:38Speaker 1: was like, I'm not gonna be I wouldn't be too disappointed.
- 12:41Speaker 4: White girl's rip my wife. Oh, by the way, the
- 12:43Speaker 4: reason why Tylon said that is because eventually she's gonna
- 12:45Speaker 4: see that, she's gonna see that perace.
- 12:47Speaker 1: She's gonna be upset.
- 12:48Speaker 4: Anyway onward, I I've already told my wife I will
- 12:52Speaker 4: genuinely be disappointed if it's a girl. Genuinely I will.
- 12:55Speaker 4: And then I'll be happy because it's a girl, it's
- 12:57Speaker 4: a healthy baby. We can scratch off all those boxes
- 12:59Speaker 4: that all all people say when they're trying to be
- 13:01Speaker 4: politically correct about having a kid. We want a healthy baby,
- 13:03Speaker 4: blah blah blah, that's all that matters. True, I want
- 13:06Speaker 4: a boy. I don't I feel like I need a boy.
- 13:09Speaker 4: I just want to feel with that God. I didn't
- 13:14Speaker 4: even punch at that time. I tipped it better that
- 13:22Speaker 4: I was making sure the mic worked. That wasn't even
- 13:23Speaker 4: that wasn't I wasn't even doing that. I just want
- 13:28Speaker 4: a boy.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Every competitive male wants a boy. They want an air
- 13:33Speaker 1: to the throne.
- 13:34Speaker 4: The thing that bothers me the most is watching you
- 13:36Speaker 4: and your process of you and char getting pregnant and
- 13:39Speaker 4: you stopping from the sauna only doing the cold like
- 13:42Speaker 4: reading the literature on how to have a boy, And
- 13:45Speaker 4: I'm like, he's really gonna pull it off to the
- 13:47Speaker 4: point where we're coming back after doing this podcast with
- 13:49Speaker 4: Kirk Cousins, I'm thinking, there's no shot this man's gonna happen.
- 13:52Speaker 4: Because we had a full conversation about boy girl blah
- 13:55Speaker 4: b blah, this, that and the other, just having a
- 13:57Speaker 4: good convo, and I'm thinking of my head, no fucking show,
- 14:00Speaker 4: Will's having a girl like he's for sugar have a boy.
- 14:02Speaker 4: And in my selfish mind, I'm thinking that means I
- 14:05Speaker 4: gotta have it. I have a shot to have a boy,
- 14:06Speaker 4: so I break the mold in we gotta be bluetoo
- 14:09Speaker 4: sync up.
- 14:10Speaker 1: We're around he are way too much, but now you
- 14:11Speaker 1: have to break the mold.
- 14:12Speaker 6: Man.
- 14:12Speaker 1: I don't know whatever it takes, bro, And I did
- 14:14Speaker 1: I stop songing for how many months? Like oh, last
- 14:17Speaker 1: year when I learned that it took forty five days,
- 14:21Speaker 1: Like if you expose yourself to heat, you can kill
- 14:23Speaker 1: off your sperm, and it takes forty five days for
- 14:25Speaker 1: it to just get back to baseline. Because there's a
- 14:27Speaker 1: part of me that's like, Okay, I won't hit the
- 14:29Speaker 1: sauna like a week out from ovulation, during ovulation, but
- 14:32Speaker 1: then I'll hit the sauna right after because then I'll
- 14:34Speaker 1: know I'll have another month or another few weeks. You know,
- 14:36Speaker 1: you're trying to tap into the bio hacking. Yeah, get
- 14:38Speaker 1: your te levels.
- 14:39Speaker 4: Which makes you also believe that maybe bio hacking isn't real.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Yeah, Bro, And then I do all those things, and
- 14:44Speaker 1: I'm like months not hitting the sauna because I'm like
- 14:47Speaker 1: not heating the seed up, not hitting a hot tub right,
- 14:50Speaker 1: not staying in a hot shower too long, all those things,
- 14:53Speaker 1: And I'm just thinking, like, we gotta have a boy.
- 14:56Speaker 1: I know, I know, dude, but you know works.
- 15:02Speaker 4: I'm excited for.
- 15:02Speaker 1: We need girl Dad's to unite. You're the one. I'm
- 15:05Speaker 1: gonna need it. I'm gonna need you to write me
- 15:08Speaker 1: whether it's a mini book a big book. I'm gonna
- 15:10Speaker 1: need something about fathering two girls, what to look for,
- 15:14Speaker 1: what to watch out for. Hey, don't do this like me,
- 15:17Speaker 1: like be better than me. I'm gonna need this handbook
- 15:20Speaker 1: from you. And I need dads to unite because look,
- 15:23Speaker 1: being a girl dad rips. I think having having rue
- 15:28Speaker 1: and having a daughter. I'm like, oh, every guy, every
- 15:30Speaker 1: guy that is going to become a dad, I hope
- 15:32Speaker 1: we all get a girl, because having a girl is
- 15:34Speaker 1: the best. But now, knowing I'm outnumbered, waffles a girl
- 15:38Speaker 1: and my wife thankfully is a girl, and now I'm
- 15:41Speaker 1: gonna have rue and you know she who has not
- 15:44Speaker 1: been named, and it's like I'm gonna be surrounded by
- 15:47Speaker 1: all this estrogen, and God bless you if you happen
- 15:49Speaker 1: to get a third. I hate putting that in the universe,
- 15:52Speaker 1: but that is where guys go silent. They get so outnumbered,
- 15:55Speaker 1: and that's how they just become these men. It's sit
- 15:57Speaker 1: in a corner all holidays.
- 15:58Speaker 2: And you can even call them men.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah. They just get snipped, bro, And you'll
- 16:03Speaker 1: probably get snipped, but you also get snipped. Your soul
- 16:05Speaker 1: gets snipped. You'll just be that quiet dad at parties,
- 16:08Speaker 1: and it's gonna be like, whatever happened to Taylor's he
- 16:11Speaker 1: had all those girls, Man, he can't his voice just
- 16:14Speaker 1: can't be heard at home. He's too They've they've led
- 16:17Speaker 1: him to believe it that he is too stupid to talk,
- 16:20Speaker 1: and now he's just like now you're scared to even
- 16:23Speaker 1: say a word at any of these parties because even
- 16:25Speaker 1: when we have fun and we're laughing, we're having a
- 16:27Speaker 1: good time, Like, man, it's good to see Taylor. Your
- 16:29Speaker 1: drive home is just gonna be like, so, you really
- 16:30Speaker 1: went ahead and said that about you'll win Willow or
- 16:33Speaker 1: Willow speaks up, you really said that about so and so,
- 16:35Speaker 1: and you're just herd mentality. You just get put back
- 16:38Speaker 1: in the corner and it's scary, and I feel for
- 16:41Speaker 1: those girl dads out there. We need to unite, We
- 16:43Speaker 1: need to talk about these things.
- 16:45Speaker 4: Listen, don't ever do what you just did again, because
- 16:50Speaker 4: right now we're talking, you're talking about how excited you
- 16:53Speaker 4: are about a situation that I'm already in knowing that
- 16:55Speaker 4: there's hope down the road because you've aready decided your
- 16:57Speaker 4: head you're gonna have a three I'm already staring at
- 16:58Speaker 4: the barrel of a gun, having two little girls and
- 17:00Speaker 4: knowing that this is my last shot at happiness, and
- 17:03Speaker 4: you're gonna do that.
- 17:05Speaker 1: I'm sorry, bro, I've just I've experience these dads that
- 17:07Speaker 1: I come to learn. I'm like, oh, these are some
- 17:09Speaker 1: good these are guys.
- 17:10Speaker 4: These are good men.
- 17:11Speaker 1: But you never know about it until it's like, oh, yeah,
- 17:13Speaker 1: he's a he's an outdoorsman. He goes hunting all the time.
- 17:16Speaker 1: He does this, he chops wood. And you're like, why
- 17:18Speaker 1: don't I ever see that guy? And it's like, well,
- 17:21Speaker 1: look at the environment. He's surrounded. He's been snipped from
- 17:23Speaker 1: the soul, and you got to bring it out of them.
- 17:26Speaker 4: I hate. Here's what we need to do.
- 17:28Speaker 1: If you do have a third, I will make it
- 17:30Speaker 1: my mission. Get snipped our souls, get snipped to stand strong,
- 17:34Speaker 1: to stand up.
- 17:36Speaker 4: Can I ask you this question, I'm really I gotta
- 17:38Speaker 4: pivot out of this. I gotta get out of here.
- 17:40Speaker 1: I know it's like, yeah, I'll make it about you
- 17:42Speaker 1: and half third.
- 17:43Speaker 4: Yeah, congratulations, thank you, congratulations on you.
- 17:46Speaker 1: We are fired up. We are very fired up.
- 17:48Speaker 4: Allegedly, I do have to leave in a very like
- 17:51Speaker 4: a few seconds. Actually, should I wait when Taylor gets pregnant?
- 17:56Speaker 4: Should I wait until the baby comes out?
- 18:00Speaker 1: You did hit it, you did touch it. But what happened?
- 18:02Speaker 1: What happens?
- 18:02Speaker 6: What is it with the cale?
- 18:06Speaker 1: Can we get a new cable?
- 18:08Speaker 4: How's that?
- 18:09Speaker 1: Sorry for raising better? I'm just better than the trenches.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Right now we come back to the sidelines like, well
- 18:13Speaker 1: can we Is that better? Okay?
- 18:16Speaker 4: And this is this is for the group. Sam You
- 18:18Speaker 4: can chime in if you want to do I wait
- 18:20Speaker 4: to find out the sex of the baby and tell birth?
- 18:23Speaker 4: Or should I do it? The twelve week mark? I
- 18:25Speaker 4: got one berth question? That's you man, Sammy. That's the
- 18:31Speaker 4: thing about busting with the boys.
- 18:32Speaker 5: But the word a team you you know ahead of time,
- 18:35Speaker 5: you gotta know.
- 18:36Speaker 4: Okay, So I won to one. I want to hear
- 18:39Speaker 4: you last.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Okay.
- 18:40Speaker 4: You have you waited ever before?
- 18:43Speaker 6: Have you done?
- 18:43Speaker 7: Twelve week mark? Both for winning Willow.
- 18:45Speaker 4: Twelve week mark both? The first time I actually found out,
- 18:49Speaker 4: I asked the doctor and I was like, Hey, is
- 18:51Speaker 4: this sex and my child on that sheet? And they
- 18:53Speaker 4: go yep, says girl here, So anyway what we're looking at?
- 18:55Speaker 4: And I was like, lived about that situation. The second one,
- 18:59Speaker 4: I wanted to wait. We get the card and I
- 19:01Speaker 4: know that it's in the envelope, and you know me,
- 19:05Speaker 4: you know I get I'm gonna stare this unopened card,
- 19:07Speaker 4: knowing this information there that I want. So to answer
- 19:11Speaker 4: your question, I have never waited for the delivery.
- 19:13Speaker 7: I think you wait solely because at twelve weeks mark,
- 19:15Speaker 7: it's a lot easier to be disappointed when you see
- 19:19Speaker 7: your child being born, rather regardless if it's a boy
- 19:22Speaker 7: or girl. I think the emotion will take over regardless.
- 19:25Speaker 7: You know you're not gonna be upset at birth, even
- 19:28Speaker 7: if it's a girl.
- 19:28Speaker 4: I think you're wrong. I think you're wrong because having
- 19:32Speaker 4: two kids like having like having.
- 19:34Speaker 7: Your first kids.
- 19:36Speaker 4: I don't like having your first kid is like everything's
- 19:39Speaker 4: so new, everything's so new, you're experiencing so much. And
- 19:41Speaker 4: one's like it's magical blahll blah. Everyone's so excited to
- 19:43Speaker 4: hear the news. What's the kid, blah blah blah. The
- 19:46Speaker 4: second time you have a kid, your second kid, it's
- 19:49Speaker 4: not less special to you, but it's like more normal
- 19:51Speaker 4: as to everybody else. Oh they're having their second kid.
- 19:53Speaker 4: And then by the time you get to the third kid,
- 19:54Speaker 4: it's like, hey, congrats, I guess here's what to be
- 19:56Speaker 4: a number. It's more becomes a burden to other people
- 19:58Speaker 4: around you say hey.
- 19:59Speaker 5: It's gonna be taught.
- 20:00Speaker 4: I don't, I don't know.
- 20:02Speaker 6: I know.
- 20:02Speaker 4: I'm just saying. I'm just saying, like, the uh, the
- 20:04Speaker 4: excitement just Dad's talking. The excitement of that feels like
- 20:06Speaker 4: it goes away when you're watching from a bird's eye
- 20:08Speaker 4: view of how everybody that's talking.
- 20:11Speaker 7: I don't actually think you'd be able to wait though.
- 20:13Speaker 4: I don't think I wait, Jack, but I do.
- 20:15Speaker 1: We definitely appreciate that perspective because that's a real perspective
- 20:18Speaker 1: that that parents have. It's like, once it happens, it's
- 20:20Speaker 1: like that is the the beauty or the positivity or
- 20:23Speaker 1: the silver lining of doing something like that. My question
- 20:25Speaker 1: to you before I answer, would you rather take one
- 20:27Speaker 1: of the head or seven of the chest?
- 20:29Speaker 4: One of the head?
- 20:31Speaker 1: Then wait, because then you just take it right then
- 20:34Speaker 1: and there. And then if you take something, you know
- 20:37Speaker 1: you you do it. At twelve week mark, you're just
- 20:39Speaker 1: taking You're just taking them the chest. Yeah, you have
- 20:41Speaker 1: time to kind of wrap your head around and everything else.
- 20:43Speaker 1: But you won't have enough time. Why didn't you bring
- 20:46Speaker 1: the birth? I was excited to see the boy. I
- 20:50Speaker 1: was excited to see the blue. Great point. Maybe the
- 20:54Speaker 1: next time we will wait for you?
- 20:56Speaker 6: Wait? Do what for your thirty You're gonna wait? Maybe
- 20:58Speaker 6: maybe you guys make a pack to.
- 21:00Speaker 4: He even got two out yet for the third you
- 21:01Speaker 4: gonna wait?
- 21:03Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll make a pact. If I have a third,
- 21:05Speaker 1: I will wait as well.
- 21:07Speaker 4: But I'll wait too.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Yeah, you have to you basically have to decide. Oh,
- 21:10Speaker 1: I mean, here's the shoe.
- 21:11Speaker 4: Here's the issue is like there's another person involved with
- 21:14Speaker 4: making the child that might have to find out.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Listen, I think women would are easily on board with that.
- 21:19Speaker 4: See talents against it. I've actually had this conversation with
- 21:21Speaker 4: her and she said, I want to get like the
- 21:22Speaker 4: nursery set up like that. She enjoys that the nesting
- 21:25Speaker 4: periods what they call it for the women that are pregnant,
- 21:26Speaker 4: like they love getting the room ready. And I told her,
- 21:29Speaker 4: I was like, if I wait, I'm not going to
- 21:31Speaker 4: that room. I don't want to see anything and I'll
- 21:34Speaker 4: have to essentially tailor will now know the information that
- 21:36Speaker 4: I will not know.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Okay, Devil's advocate. Go ahead, because I feel like you
- 21:40Speaker 1: guys are both kind of this way. You guys usually
- 21:42Speaker 1: do like neutralish style colors. That's true, you got you.
- 21:46Speaker 1: You could easily shape up the same thing. You know
- 21:48Speaker 1: what I mean? Yeah, ex because the if ibe of
- 21:52Speaker 1: your house is very much like a good natural.
- 21:54Speaker 4: Natural Yes yeah browns and yeah yeah earth earthy colors.
- 21:59Speaker 1: You could do something like that.
- 22:00Speaker 4: Earth.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Just talk to the wife and maybe we'll have the
- 22:02Speaker 1: pack next week. Because I'm listening. I'd be scared too.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Now I'm not gonna talk sorry about it. Go ahead,
- 22:06Speaker 1: I'm in. I'm in, Okay, twist the question very quick.
- 22:10Speaker 1: I'll do I'll do the d but Taylor's gotta go
- 22:12Speaker 1: when we want him to answer the twisted question brought
- 22:13Speaker 1: twist but twisted tea. There's zero carbonation, so it's easier
- 22:16Speaker 1: to go. Smooth down, great for tail getting, great for
- 22:19Speaker 1: game day, full flavor, very refreshing. It's the perfect alcohol
- 22:22Speaker 1: beverage for game day. Keep it twisted with the Twisted
- 22:24Speaker 1: Kings again. It goes down insanely smooth five percent ABV.
- 22:27Speaker 1: Keep it Twisted with the boys. Grab a refreshing twisted
- 22:30Speaker 1: t today Mitch, you don't have a ready, bitch.
- 22:34Speaker 4: I gotta go.
- 22:35Speaker 6: I do, I do, I do.
- 22:36Speaker 8: This is one I've had in the bank for a
- 22:38Speaker 8: long time, and I feel like we've maybe have sort
- 22:40Speaker 8: of done something along the lines.
- 22:42Speaker 6: Would you rather listen to your least favorite song on repeat?
- 22:45Speaker 6: Or never listen to music ever again?
- 22:48Speaker 4: Never listen to it again. I have to go.
- 22:50Speaker 1: So the only song you do get to listen is
- 22:51Speaker 1: the worst song on repeat, your least favorite song. Just
- 22:55Speaker 1: that's the only song you get to listen to forever.
- 22:57Speaker 6: Yes, maybe, okay, maybe do your least favorite albu.
- 23:00Speaker 1: You understand how that's that's how that's a bad question.
- 23:02Speaker 6: Maybe Yeah, I do. I do. I'm getting defensive.
- 23:07Speaker 1: I know, I take it easy.
- 23:08Speaker 4: Here's what I need to do, Mitch. I need you
- 23:09Speaker 4: to take a couple of these lucy breakers. I need
- 23:11Speaker 4: you to lock in that question because that is insane.
- 23:15Speaker 4: That's wild. Love you right, you know we love you right.
- 23:18Speaker 4: Don't ever trust us? You need to you need to
- 23:20Speaker 4: figure out that twisted question. I love you, boys. I
- 23:23Speaker 4: gotta go, saving so great meeting you. Yes, you have
- 23:25Speaker 4: the pen you.
- 23:27Speaker 1: Guys, go ahead and go, both of you, guys, go
- 23:28Speaker 1: and you can come back on just whatever, don't worry
- 23:30Speaker 1: about Thank you brother, love you too. Man. Enjoy, Enjoy
- 23:35Speaker 1: what's enjoy what's to come. It's gonna be all right, right,
- 23:40Speaker 1: guess yeah, it's gonna be dude, It's gonna be great.
- 23:43Speaker 1: I truly like at this point number one, I've already
- 23:46Speaker 1: accepted and embraced it. But being a girl dad, I
- 23:50Speaker 1: feel like I'm built for being a girl dad.
- 23:52Speaker 7: Think about it from the view of capitalism, we are
- 23:54Speaker 7: a girl dad pod and if you had a boy,
- 23:56Speaker 7: we would have to change some things, maybe sell some
- 23:58Speaker 7: more stuff. But right now, the brand is the brand.
- 24:01Speaker 1: You're right. However, I was excited to maybe do our
- 24:04Speaker 1: announcement by holding the boy mom hats because that's one
- 24:08Speaker 1: where we still got. By the way, everybody who's looking
- 24:11Speaker 1: for our boy mom merch, I believe that's going to
- 24:13Speaker 1: be restocked during a couple of weeks. But as far
- 24:14Speaker 1: as dads and girl dads uniting on this front, we
- 24:19Speaker 1: have all of our Father's Day merch. That line has dropped.
- 24:22Speaker 1: We have some Carhart hoodies which would go great for
- 24:24Speaker 1: your old man, especially come fall time when it's hunting
- 24:27Speaker 1: season or Father's Day. Yeah, get out, get aheads. As
- 24:31Speaker 1: far as golf polos golf gear hats. Different style of
- 24:36Speaker 1: hats were with the forty seven brand. Now I'm wearing
- 24:39Speaker 1: one as we speak. Theseq zips feel incredible. Proud girl. Dads,
- 24:44Speaker 1: we gotta unite and look, I know, like we talk disappointment.
- 24:47Speaker 1: We might be laughing and then like you know, your
- 24:50Speaker 1: wife or somebody. I'd be like, hey, what if the
- 24:51Speaker 1: daughter sees this. We're just on it. We're gonna say space,
- 24:53Speaker 1: having a good time on the bus. I'm being vulnerable
- 24:55Speaker 1: with the dads out there right now, with the audience
- 24:57Speaker 1: out there listening. I am very excited about having another daughter.
- 25:00Speaker 1: I am so curious, which I feel like every parent
- 25:04Speaker 1: thinks about, is what they're gonna look like? Are they
- 25:06Speaker 1: going to be similar?
- 25:07Speaker 6: Rue?
- 25:08Speaker 1: Is she gonna come out? She's gonna have dark hair
- 25:10Speaker 1: like I. We're stoked for that. It is awesome. And
- 25:13Speaker 1: charle my wife she was. She was just as surprised
- 25:17Speaker 1: as the boy, more in like a laughing way, like
- 25:19Speaker 1: looking at my reaction and everything like that. But throughout
- 25:21Speaker 1: the entire day I had to go get I had
- 25:23Speaker 1: to tell my wife like, hey, can you put rude down?
- 25:25Speaker 1: I need to go work out. I had to go
- 25:27Speaker 1: to boost get some work in. I ran two miles
- 25:29Speaker 1: on Sunday. I was like, I gotta continue to sweat,
- 25:32Speaker 1: and it's just like I had to work it imy.
- 25:34Speaker 1: But every time we'd be driving, she's like, she'd be like, babe,
- 25:38Speaker 1: it feels any any better to you? Like there was
- 25:41Speaker 1: zero part of me that thought we were gonna have
- 25:42Speaker 1: a girl like I've been. She was ready to like
- 25:44Speaker 1: be a boy mom. It just felt like the stars
- 25:46Speaker 1: were relying before we cut the cake, got the cake out,
- 25:50Speaker 1: and Rue she had she had all the opposite symptoms
- 25:54Speaker 1: from the first one. So like a mother's tale that
- 25:56Speaker 1: kind of tells you that it could be a boy
- 25:58Speaker 1: or a different gender because you're not experiencing the same symptoms,
- 26:00Speaker 1: like as far as sickness and everything else. And Rue
- 26:05Speaker 1: was saying brother, Moore, Ru was saying boy. More so
- 26:09Speaker 1: you're kind of like leaning into some of those. Uh
- 26:12Speaker 1: it'd be like, hey, wuld you dream about last night?
- 26:14Speaker 1: Like when we wake her up, she would even say
- 26:16Speaker 1: like brother and stuff like that. So there was just
- 26:17Speaker 1: a weird and again I felt like I had that
- 26:19Speaker 1: separation to where I wasn't going to care like I
- 26:23Speaker 1: thought I was going to as far as like, oh man,
- 26:24Speaker 1: we're gonna have to have three now type of thing
- 26:26Speaker 1: or go for three. God willing that it would they
- 26:30Speaker 1: God would give me a boy, give me an air.
- 26:32Speaker 1: But also when I was getting out the cake to
- 26:34Speaker 1: cut it and do the do our little thing together,
- 26:38Speaker 1: there was a Rue's blue sippy cup was sitting out.
- 26:41Speaker 1: She was she was on her green her dark green pass. Ye.
- 26:44Speaker 1: I just felt like I'm about to see blue here boys,
- 26:47Speaker 1: like we're really about to have a boy. I'm gonna
- 26:49Speaker 1: have to wrap my head around now becoming a boy
- 26:51Speaker 1: dad in those fears of like, okay, I know how
- 26:53Speaker 1: I've been with Rue. I hope I can stay in
- 26:56Speaker 1: this same empathetic wrapped around the finger and not be
- 26:59Speaker 1: too hard on the the little pup. Like all dads
- 27:01Speaker 1: I feel like getting nervous about with raising their son.
- 27:04Speaker 1: And then when it was pink bro it just you
- 27:07Speaker 1: saw the reaction. You, Mitch can put up the photos
- 27:10Speaker 1: and stuff, but it was a shock. It was a shock.
- 27:14Speaker 1: But we we are very excited. I mean it's still
- 27:18Speaker 1: fairly early. We've gotten out of the first trimester. Knock
- 27:22Speaker 1: on wood, that everything still goes well according to plan
- 27:26Speaker 1: and everything else, and that we do have a healthy,
- 27:28Speaker 1: a healthy child because it'll be sick. Like Rue will
- 27:30Speaker 1: have a best friend forever. I mean you get to
- 27:33Speaker 1: see Winn and Willow play with each other now that now,
- 27:35Speaker 1: because kids don't really like playing with each other until
- 27:37Speaker 1: they're like three, but now the Willow's three going on four,
- 27:40Speaker 1: and you see how she interacts with Win and how
- 27:41Speaker 1: Winn interacts with her like and you hear Taylor talk
- 27:44Speaker 1: about and Tailor and talk about it. Very fired up
- 27:47Speaker 1: to Rue to have like a best friend because we
- 27:49Speaker 1: have neighbors who have a two and three year old
- 27:52Speaker 1: and anytime they're outside playing, like you see Ruth standing
- 27:54Speaker 1: there like wanting to go over and hang out, and
- 27:56Speaker 1: you just see the dynamic between the brother and sister
- 27:59Speaker 1: just playing with each other. And they always got each
- 28:01Speaker 1: other to where, you know, babysitters you kind of got
- 28:05Speaker 1: like Rue kind of goes to her thing. If it's
- 28:06Speaker 1: a new babysitter, we get really sad because we feel
- 28:09Speaker 1: like she's she thinks we're leaving her forever with this person.
- 28:11Speaker 1: Now with this new one coming in and ruill be
- 28:13Speaker 1: able to teach her or be around her and she
- 28:15Speaker 1: just have a playmate. Dude, it's gonna be sick and awesome,
- 28:17Speaker 1: so to so to say a lot of positive things
- 28:20Speaker 1: about this, because I don't want to make it a joke,
- 28:22Speaker 1: and like, I'm disappointed the entire time for the wives
- 28:25Speaker 1: out there or the girlfriends stop making their boys listen
- 28:27Speaker 1: to the podcast. But it's gonna be awesome, man. A
- 28:31Speaker 1: couple announcements our live show June twelfth at Zany's Comedy

- 29:12Speaker 1: point fifty. If you're thinking about going, if you want

- 29:22Speaker 1: the first time where we had Ernest and Jelly on.
- 29:24Speaker 1: I do believe we're gonna try and get like a
- 29:26Speaker 1: guest or two to join us throughout this up. But
- 29:28Speaker 1: we do some fun things with their live show. But
- 29:30Speaker 1: we will be at Zanie's Comedy Club on June twelfth.
- 29:33Speaker 1: I've already talked about our Father's Day merch Our Father's
- 29:36Speaker 1: Day line is out. Buy that up, you know, so
- 29:38Speaker 1: that way it gets here in time before Father's Day.
- 29:41Speaker 1: What else do we have? Man?
- 29:42Speaker 7: I know Kurk speaking about positivity.
- 29:44Speaker 1: Do you see this news? Nebraska night game Colorado at
- 29:49Speaker 1: Nebraska is a night game six thirty pm Central Time
- 29:52Speaker 1: on NBC. Look, everybody knows that I'm excited about Husker football.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Everybody knows that I think we're gonna have a big year.
- 29:59Speaker 1: I think we're gonna have a prizingly big year that
- 30:01Speaker 1: falls in line with the expectation of Nebraska but surprises
- 30:04Speaker 1: everybody else. I think the boys are cooking up something special.
- 30:07Speaker 1: We just landed this four star quarterback over the weekend,
- 30:12Speaker 1: which again just speaks to number one. I'm thinking to myself, like, oh,
- 30:15Speaker 1: it's sick that they had this kid commit. When you
- 30:17Speaker 1: have a five star and a four star that just
- 30:20Speaker 1: committed in the last recruiting class in Nebraska, it just
- 30:23Speaker 1: kind of shows the culture and everything that they're building
- 30:25Speaker 1: over there. We hope that it's like stuff like this
- 30:28Speaker 1: and the trickle down effect to where you have, say,
- 30:32Speaker 1: this kid go is on campus with everybody else. You
- 30:35Speaker 1: have a quarterback room with a couple four stars, a
- 30:38Speaker 1: five star. It's just going to bring the talent. The
- 30:41Speaker 1: talent to Nebraska kids like wide receivers, running backs, o lineman,
- 30:45Speaker 1: defensive You're gonna want to start committing now to go
- 30:48Speaker 1: play with these guys to build some special because again,
- 30:50Speaker 1: and I love with this kid said I read his article.
- 30:52Speaker 1: He felt like a priority in Nebraska. He loved the
- 30:55Speaker 1: way that obviously they mad him feel. Everybody feels good
- 30:57Speaker 1: on their recruiting visits, but he wanted to be part
- 30:59Speaker 1: of something spec Actually, he didn't want to go just
- 31:01Speaker 1: to a great team that was already established, because again
- 31:03Speaker 1: it's like that pitch to Royola when I got to
- 31:06Speaker 1: talk to him, you know, obnoxiously after he was already
- 31:09Speaker 1: on campus. But it's like, Yo, you win at Nebraska,
- 31:11Speaker 1: it's forever, especially at the hell we've been through for
- 31:14Speaker 1: the last decade. And I will not take up a
- 31:16Speaker 1: lot of your time talking to you about Nebraska football
- 31:18Speaker 1: because I know you guys have heard it. It's just
- 31:20Speaker 1: we're being a dead horse. Both we're building something, boys,
- 31:24Speaker 1: but night game Colorado out Nebraska, we are fucking going boys.
- 31:28Speaker 1: We're going to that game. And I was thinking about
- 31:31Speaker 1: it over the weekend, not not that it was, you know,
- 31:35Speaker 1: because the night game wasn't announced yet, but I'll think
- 31:38Speaker 1: of with Nebraska, like we got to do it right again.
- 31:40Speaker 1: And you guys know what I'm talking about. Hey, you
- 31:42Speaker 1: guys know what I'm talking about doing it right?
- 31:44Speaker 6: Well?
- 31:45Speaker 1: Was Mitch with us? Wait? Yes, no, he said when
- 31:51Speaker 1: we went to Barry's. Now when we went last year
- 31:53Speaker 1: for the flying out there, flying back, doing it right,
- 32:01Speaker 1: doing it right. But I won't get into a whole lot. Oh,
- 32:05Speaker 1: we have some shout out, no free shoutouts from Duke Cannon.
- 32:08Speaker 1: Duke Cannon is listen, guys, their face routine stuff. We
- 32:12Speaker 1: just did a little, a little content piece. I thought
- 32:14Speaker 1: the commercial was awesome. I don't think it's doing a
- 32:15Speaker 1: whole lot of numbers on social. I don't know why
- 32:17Speaker 1: it's not in front of everybody, the masses. Here. Here's
- 32:20Speaker 1: our product right here, let me grab it. I don't
- 32:29Speaker 1: know if we can see my swamp pass. We had
- 32:31Speaker 1: a couple of interviews to day, but all of our
- 32:33Speaker 1: Duke Cannon products, it is the off season. It's time
- 32:36Speaker 1: to elevate your game by working harder and smelling better
- 32:38Speaker 1: with our friends from Duke Cannon. Throw away your old
- 32:40Speaker 1: body wash and deodorant because you smell like a JV
- 32:43Speaker 1: locker room. Upgrade the Duke Cannon for a varsity level
- 32:45Speaker 1: grooming routine. The Sensor Elite and their products are made
- 32:48Speaker 1: for hard working dudes. And I will say on top
- 32:50Speaker 1: of that, I know we talk uh deodorance and body wash,
- 32:54Speaker 1: but I'm telling you the face routine, men, there's a
- 32:56Speaker 1: movement happening. Men are getting more into the face routine.
- 32:59Speaker 1: You got us. You got to start getting yourself right.
- 33:01Speaker 1: My wife is on my ass all the time. By
- 33:03Speaker 1: a good lotion, a good face washed, some SPF Apparently
- 33:06Speaker 1: we got to put SPF on our face even when
- 33:08Speaker 1: it's cloudy out to protect our skin. Start getting in
- 33:10Speaker 1: the routine, the face routine. Will do this shit together
- 33:13Speaker 1: night morning. It doesn't make you a pussy, It makes
- 33:16Speaker 1: you a man. Duke Cannon where carters smell better. Mitch Jack,
- 33:20Speaker 1: whoever wants to start a shout out, no free shout out, Sammy,
- 33:22Speaker 1: we will be giving you the floor for a shout out,
- 33:24Speaker 1: no free shot out. I know you gave a couple already,
- 33:26Speaker 1: but Mitch, what do you got for us.
- 33:27Speaker 6: My shout out?
- 33:28Speaker 8: No free shadow This week I went to a golf
- 33:30Speaker 8: trip this weekend with a bunch of my college buddies.
- 33:33Speaker 8: One thing that everybody, like all friend groups do this,
- 33:37Speaker 8: and it's one of those things.
- 33:38Speaker 6: Where it's like.
- 33:40Speaker 8: You're you're going at somebody's going up to the bar,
- 33:42Speaker 8: somebody's getting drinks, and you're just like, yeah, got me one,
- 33:46Speaker 8: and there's that mutual understanding of yeah, he's gonna get
- 33:50Speaker 8: me back. It's not that like, oh, vend on me
- 33:52Speaker 8: for that drink. It hit me like pay me back
- 33:54Speaker 8: for that drink. Like it's that mutual understanding. I'm gonna
- 33:57Speaker 8: get the trust the bond, the the knowing of but
- 34:02Speaker 8: he's gonna get me back. At some point that I thought,
- 34:05Speaker 8: like I did that to one of my buddies every week,
- 34:06Speaker 8: I'm like, that's kind of dope. But he knows, he
- 34:09Speaker 8: knows I'm gonna get him. He knows I'm gonna get
- 34:11Speaker 8: him back. I don't even and I'm not even worried
- 34:12Speaker 8: about like, oh, is he gonna ask me an ven.
- 34:14Speaker 6: On like that? With this weekend with I gotta shout
- 34:18Speaker 6: out all the boys, Connor, Griff, Mike Colin foul.
- 34:23Speaker 1: Do they watch the pod? They okay, good, don't want
- 34:26Speaker 1: to shut out.
- 34:26Speaker 8: Yeah, they all watch Will Connor. I thought you should, Connor,
- 34:32Speaker 8: but it was just just a bunch of old football
- 34:35Speaker 8: guys we used to play with, just telling stories and
- 34:37Speaker 8: ship it was.
- 34:38Speaker 6: It was a good time.
- 34:39Speaker 8: But the mutual understanding of getting rounds, that's that's my
- 34:41Speaker 8: SHOTOW love that.
- 34:44Speaker 7: If you don't have friendships that aren't the classic revolving
- 34:47Speaker 7: door metaphor get the fuck out of here with friends anymore,
- 34:51Speaker 7: just friendship should be a revolving door. My shadow no
- 34:55Speaker 7: free shadowt goes to when you rediscover a pair of shoes.
- 34:59Speaker 7: It could be really any kind of clothing item. But
- 35:01Speaker 7: for me, it was a pair of shoes that have
- 35:02Speaker 7: like maybe been hiding underneath your bed or in a closet.
- 35:05Speaker 7: But when you rediscover a pair of you haven't worn
- 35:07Speaker 7: like six months, you're like, oh, I love these shoes,
- 35:10Speaker 7: start wearing them more, and you're like, dude, it's just
- 35:12Speaker 7: it's like buying a new pair, but with none of
- 35:14Speaker 7: the costs. So you just rediscover whether it's an old
- 35:16Speaker 7: pair of shoes or an old sweatshirt, or maybe it's
- 35:19Speaker 7: a T shirt that you've you know, maybe your friend
- 35:21Speaker 7: had for a few months, and then you kind of
- 35:22Speaker 7: get to like have that.
- 35:23Speaker 1: New Oh I forgot I had this, Yeah.
- 35:26Speaker 7: And then you're like you're then you wear them for
- 35:28Speaker 7: a week shirt, and you're like, all right, I'll see
- 35:30Speaker 7: you again in six months.
- 35:31Speaker 1: Rediscovering that pair of.
- 35:32Speaker 7: Shoes or the sweatshirt, to me is that it's like
- 35:34Speaker 7: it's a good feeling and kind of have a new
- 35:36Speaker 7: little spark in your style. So shout out to rediscovering shoes.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Shout out to that holy shit, I forgot I had
- 35:44Speaker 1: this moment up. Sammy, all right, is yours brother?
- 35:49Speaker 5: So Mother's Day was yesterday, my Father's Day next month.
- 35:53Speaker 5: My shout out, no free shoutout goes to aunts and uncles.
- 35:57Speaker 5: I am one of them. I am an uncle of
- 35:59Speaker 5: five nieces and nephew in total. It's absolute best gig.
- 36:02Speaker 5: Like there's zero responsibilities. I've never changed one diaper and
- 36:05Speaker 5: they're all out of diapers now. We went to a
- 36:07Speaker 5: cup game last Sunday and the kids wanted ice cream.
- 36:11Speaker 5: Dad wanted to give it to him. Sam went up
- 36:13Speaker 5: serious and got some Uncle Sam two helmets of ice
- 36:16Speaker 5: cream and fudge and all that stuff in there.
- 36:18Speaker 1: Did Dad care? He?
- 36:19Speaker 5: I mean, at that point it's too late. Once I
- 36:22Speaker 5: hear the kids want something, they have it. It's absolute
- 36:24Speaker 5: best gig. And going back to now that you're having
- 36:28Speaker 5: number two, I'm not saying I prefer the girls, but
- 36:32Speaker 5: I absolutely prefer the girls or the boys. It's crazy.
- 36:35Speaker 5: I would have never guessed that I'm one of four boys.
- 36:37Speaker 5: I'm way closer to the girls than I am boys.
- 36:39Speaker 1: Yeah. Bro, they just say it's something about him, you know,
- 36:42Speaker 1: because they say when they're little, boys are like you
- 36:44Speaker 1: heard Randall Cop. Yeah he'll drop in a few weeks
- 36:47Speaker 1: or in a couple of weeks. We heard him talking
- 36:49Speaker 1: about his boys, and I've been around. He's like, man,
- 36:51Speaker 1: they're just they're on, like just on all the time, wrestling,
- 36:55Speaker 1: like they just got that different instinct of mentality versus
- 36:58Speaker 1: like girls are so sore.
- 37:00Speaker 5: Wheat, bro, they're so sweet and if someone's getting hurt,
- 37:02Speaker 5: it's gonna be the boys. The girls are gonna dust
- 37:04Speaker 5: it off and yeah and not really care. They're the
- 37:07Speaker 5: one to play soccer with you or basketball where the
- 37:09Speaker 5: boys are. I want to play Xbox. I want to
- 37:11Speaker 5: play PS four. Yeah, so that's awesome, shout out man.
- 37:16Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, dude, and to get hey because Jack, he's
- 37:20Speaker 1: a proud uncle as well.
- 37:21Speaker 4: Absolutely love you.
- 37:22Speaker 1: You said you haven't changed any diapers? Jack, have you
- 37:24Speaker 1: changed diapers? Hell?
- 37:25Speaker 7: No, dude, I get to be the cool guy, zero responsibility.
- 37:28Speaker 7: She starts crying. I just grab her by the nape
- 37:31Speaker 7: of her neck and give her back to your mother.
- 37:34Speaker 1: Did you should change a diaper?
- 37:35Speaker 4: I have changed a diaper.
- 37:37Speaker 7: Before and it wasn't even my kid, was no blood relation.
- 37:40Speaker 7: My mom was like working in a nursery and she's like,
- 37:42Speaker 7: you need to learn how to do this, and I
- 37:43Speaker 7: was like, fuck, no, I don't know. I did And yeah,
- 37:46Speaker 7: I hated it, but you know, I can see myself
- 37:48Speaker 7: taking pride in it if it was my niece or
- 37:50Speaker 7: my own. But for now, I'm good with all of
- 37:53Speaker 7: the fun and being the cool guy with zero the
- 37:55Speaker 7: responsibilities and then be like, all right, I gotta I
- 37:57Speaker 7: gotta go, don't have any don't have any kids.
- 38:00Speaker 1: Look after Jack, You're for sure going to be a
- 38:02Speaker 1: girl dad.
- 38:02Speaker 7: I I and I'm okay with.
- 38:05Speaker 1: An incredible girl dad. Not that you guys are gonna
- 38:07Speaker 1: be great fathers, you both are. I just Jack's goot.
- 38:10Speaker 1: That just that that empathy meter that I know. And
- 38:12Speaker 1: he's a guy's guy. He's a guy's guy in the streets.
- 38:15Speaker 1: He's a guys guy. And I just know he has
- 38:17Speaker 1: the heart that is ready to be absolutely taken from
- 38:21Speaker 1: my experience with my daughter, I just know he's he's
- 38:23Speaker 1: got the heart that she's going to be he needs
- 38:24Speaker 1: to be a girl dad, that he'd be a damn
- 38:26Speaker 1: good one too.
- 38:27Speaker 7: Thank you that that's really kind of you to say.
- 38:29Speaker 7: I'm very excited to be a father at some point
- 38:32Speaker 7: when I'm ready, whether it's you know, in nine months
- 38:35Speaker 7: from now.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Or whether you get that phone call, yeah, you never know.
- 38:39Speaker 7: But I am very excited for that. But I love
- 38:41Speaker 7: that shout out because I have a niece and my
- 38:44Speaker 7: sister's also eight months pregnant with her second and it's
- 38:46Speaker 7: another girl. So I'm absolutely over the moon. Can't wait
- 38:50Speaker 7: for her to be out here hanging with the actual fam.
- 38:53Speaker 7: So yeah, shout out to the aunts and uncles of
- 38:55Speaker 7: the world. They are real.
- 38:58Speaker 1: My shout out, no free shoutout. Will sec Way is
- 39:00Speaker 1: into the episode the interview with Kirk Cousins. If you
- 39:02Speaker 1: stuck around with this this song, we appreciate you. Please
- 39:04Speaker 1: make sure you are subscribed if you're listening on an
- 39:06Speaker 1: audio or watching on YouTube. I'm only mainly talking to
- 39:09Speaker 1: the men because I know the women. They do a
- 39:11Speaker 1: great job of following them through with stuff. Guys, you
- 39:13Speaker 1: gott tell them over and over to make sure that
- 39:14Speaker 1: they follow through and commit. Make sure you're a subscribed
- 39:16Speaker 1: to the pot. It helps us immensely when you are
- 39:19Speaker 1: subscribed and everything else. But my shout out, no free
- 39:22Speaker 1: shout out is going to go to when you get
- 39:26Speaker 1: reminded about why you're boys with somebody. Kirk sitting on
- 39:33Speaker 1: the podcast with Kirk and Kirk and I We've had
- 39:35Speaker 1: a great relationship since we were both on the on
- 39:38Speaker 1: Washington together and he was somebody that you know when
- 39:42Speaker 1: bitcoin was a fad. Then we're talking about stuff off
- 39:44Speaker 1: the field, we're talking about business. There was there's a
- 39:47Speaker 1: mentor of his. I got to eat go and eat
- 39:49Speaker 1: lunch with one on one, and I feel like Kirk
- 39:51Speaker 1: and I always connected on things that went like just
- 39:53Speaker 1: beyond football. We had fun playing football together, like going
- 39:57Speaker 1: back and forth talking schematics and seeing him grow as
- 40:00Speaker 1: a quarterback, seeing him grow as a human being. There
- 40:03Speaker 1: when he was married in Julie, like going to stuff
- 40:06Speaker 1: with him and Julie. He's got an incredible family. And
- 40:08Speaker 1: now I get to work with his business manager, basically
- 40:11Speaker 1: his mentor. His name's Ken Philippini and shoutout Ken. He
- 40:15Speaker 1: is mine as well, and I am. I remember when
- 40:17Speaker 1: Kirk reached out, I wanted to connect us. It was
- 40:19Speaker 1: one of those things where I just thought it was
- 40:21Speaker 1: going to be, Hey, I got this guy, good investment.
- 40:23Speaker 1: It's like a great guy to get to know. You
- 40:24Speaker 1: trust Kirk's so you're like okay, Ken flies out and
- 40:26Speaker 1: basically does like a three day seminar on leadership with
- 40:29Speaker 1: me and really is studying me, It's like, do I
- 40:31Speaker 1: even want to work with this guy because he has
- 40:33Speaker 1: a phrase he doesn't want to work with dysfunctional ass clowns.
- 40:37Speaker 1: And I say all that to say, like sitting on
- 40:41Speaker 1: this pod with Kirk and having the conversation with Kirk
- 40:44Speaker 1: and just the role model that he is, the leader
- 40:47Speaker 1: that he is, you just it reminded me why he
- 40:51Speaker 1: was somebody I wanted to gravitate towards like at Washington
- 40:54Speaker 1: and seek out these mentors that he does had because
- 40:57Speaker 1: I have such a trust in him about what he's
- 41:00Speaker 1: about as a as a father, as a man, and
- 41:03Speaker 1: all of it. Dude as a teammate. And so that
- 41:05Speaker 1: is my shout out. No fore shutout when you get
- 41:07Speaker 1: reminded why your boys are your boys, Because life happens.
- 41:10Speaker 1: You're in different spots. You know, in a couple of
- 41:12Speaker 1: weeks when we have our tier talk, we're talking about
- 41:13Speaker 1: our favorite teammates. I'm kind of talking through some through
- 41:16Speaker 1: some guys that you know, I don't talk to a
- 41:18Speaker 1: whole lot anymore, but I got to sit there and
- 41:20Speaker 1: talk about what they meant to me at that point
- 41:23Speaker 1: in time. And you just know when you come back
- 41:25Speaker 1: and meet them or meet up with them at some
- 41:27Speaker 1: point in time, whether you're able to make it happen
- 41:29Speaker 1: or not. You break bread, you have conversations, and you
- 41:31Speaker 1: leave the trip. The boy's trip just reminded why you
- 41:34Speaker 1: have such a core group that you do. Kirk is
- 41:37Speaker 1: one of those guys, and so my shout out, no
- 41:39Speaker 1: free shoutout goes to, yeah, getting that reminder of why
- 41:43Speaker 1: you know why you're boys with your friends from long
- 41:45Speaker 1: ago in the first place, because again, life happens, it
- 41:48Speaker 1: gets away from you. You kinda not forget, but again
- 41:52Speaker 1: that sitting down with him, and it's just like, Yo,
- 41:55Speaker 1: he's a he's a he's such a good fucking dude,
- 41:58Speaker 1: and he's he's himself like corny whatever it is, he
- 42:03Speaker 1: owns it. It's amazing, and you guys are really gonna
- 42:07Speaker 1: like this episode. We talk in depth about draft night
- 42:10Speaker 1: when they drafted Penix, how those conversations happened. Kirks are
- 42:13Speaker 1: very stoic and control what you can control, like, let's
- 42:16Speaker 1: live in reality, not in this and even asking him, hey,
- 42:19Speaker 1: before you could control what you can control, what was
- 42:21Speaker 1: the thought that ran through your head when that conversation,
- 42:24Speaker 1: when that phone call came to you when Penix got drafted.
- 42:27Speaker 1: Talk about coach Roheen Morris, the Atlanta Falcons, what led
- 42:30Speaker 1: him to go to Atlanta and pick Atlanta over the
- 42:32Speaker 1: other suitors that wanted him a quarterback. The ups and
- 42:35Speaker 1: downs with the Achilles. You know, you kind of get
- 42:38Speaker 1: there's like this humanized element to where you're chasing this
- 42:40Speaker 1: championship in Minnesota. You have all these weapons and then
- 42:43Speaker 1: in your contract year you go down with an injury
- 42:47Speaker 1: like an Achilles. Being older watching on Sundays and you're

- 44:25Speaker 4: Say that quote one more time.
- 44:26Speaker 2: You gotta feed the bad dogs. Who doesn't need the
- 44:28Speaker 2: good dogs?
- 44:28Speaker 4: Right? And so we were talking about vices, like if
- 44:30Speaker 4: you don't have one, you can't be trusted. What's your
- 44:33Speaker 4: cousin's vice?
- 44:33Speaker 2: Oh man, I knew that was coming. I need more
- 44:36Speaker 2: time to think about that. I love fast food. I
- 44:40Speaker 2: love sugar. I don't like candy, but like soda.
- 44:46Speaker 1: You're you're a soda guy.
- 44:47Speaker 2: Yeah. I love like like cinnamon rolls, like like bakery,
- 44:51Speaker 2: like donuts, chunk food. Yeah, yeah, like I don't I
- 44:54Speaker 2: don't know, eat chips like you know, I got pizza,
- 44:57Speaker 2: chocolate shake burgers, let's go.
- 45:00Speaker 4: Yeah, the funny things in life, you like, do you
- 45:01Speaker 4: like to snack on some delicious meals?
- 45:03Speaker 2: And I've got the problem is on my my apps,
- 45:06Speaker 2: they all, you know, the algorithms recommend stuff for you.
- 45:09Speaker 2: And I got on the portnoy, you know, one bite,
- 45:12Speaker 2: everyone knows the rules pizza stuff. And now like my
- 45:14Speaker 2: whole feet is just his different pizza stops. And so
- 45:17Speaker 2: I find myself like having these cravings for pizza.
- 45:20Speaker 1: Do you watch them through?
- 45:22Speaker 2: I usually watched like when they're edited down to like quick. Yeah,
- 45:24Speaker 2: because you know the world we live in today, everything's fast.
- 45:26Speaker 2: But he's pretty good. But uh but yeah, unfortunately he's
- 45:30Speaker 2: making me always be thinking about pizza now, which isn't
- 45:32Speaker 2: good for them.
- 45:33Speaker 1: What are your top three fast food spots?
- 45:36Speaker 4: This is a good topic.
- 45:37Speaker 2: So well, let's just you know, recently moved to Atlanta.
- 45:40Speaker 2: So there's some like southeast part of the country food
- 45:43Speaker 2: spots that like if you're from the Midwest like I am,
- 45:46Speaker 2: or from out west, you don't even know about. So
- 45:47Speaker 2: like bow Jangles, the bowberry biscuit is on believable, it's fire.
- 45:55Speaker 2: Then the cookout we had it, and when we were
- 45:59Speaker 2: in d see, they like started to work their way north.
- 46:02Speaker 2: But they're from like Carolina and you get them in
- 46:03Speaker 2: Atlanta too, and and it's typical like get your burger,
- 46:07Speaker 2: but then instead of getting like a side of fries,
- 46:09Speaker 2: you get two sides, so you can get like a burger,
- 46:11Speaker 2: a side of fries and then a side of nuggets,
- 46:14Speaker 2: and then a drink and shake probably and then they
- 46:17Speaker 2: have like a fifty plus flavors shake those two and.
- 46:24Speaker 4: Choices.
- 46:24Speaker 2: I usually go like mindship, but uh uh, those two
- 46:27Speaker 2: in the Southeast. That was something where it's like, oh,
- 46:29Speaker 2: I normally don't get to have a bowlberry biscuit. Yeah,
- 46:32Speaker 2: two sides in my fast food. But yeah, I don't
- 46:34Speaker 2: discriminate among.
- 46:35Speaker 1: Fast what you're what you're there's you left out a third.
- 46:38Speaker 2: I mean, Chick fil A is phenomenal, but I just
- 46:42Speaker 2: don't like Culver's being from the Midwest. Culvers butter Burgers
- 46:46Speaker 2: really good. Five guys. If you want to call that
- 46:49Speaker 2: fast food really good, I just don't. I don't discriminate
- 46:53Speaker 2: Taco John's. I love Taco John's. You're Nebraska, they have
- 46:57Speaker 2: Taco John's.
- 46:58Speaker 1: But I never went to Yeah, as you mentioned something
- 47:02Speaker 1: a minute ago, Mintship.
- 47:04Speaker 2: Yeah, you're a mintship guy. That's my go to ice cream.
- 47:07Speaker 1: I don't know about that, McCaffrey.
- 47:10Speaker 4: I know it is an interesting flavor, but I got
- 47:13Speaker 4: I gotta I got a weird ice cream taste too.
- 47:15Speaker 4: We talked about That's when I cut about you and
- 47:17Speaker 4: McCaffrey about my choice and ice cream.
- 47:19Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I mean I get down with your birthday
- 47:23Speaker 1: confetti cake ice cream BIRTHAIX. But you did say, oh, yeah,
- 47:26Speaker 1: he just likes vanilla with sprinkles on it.
- 47:28Speaker 4: No, vanilla with caramel and sprinkles, And I think sprinkles
- 47:30Speaker 4: is a good added texture to your ice cream. There's
- 47:34Speaker 4: nothing sprinkles.
- 47:35Speaker 2: A big part of taste is texture. I learned that
- 47:37Speaker 2: in high school biology, culinary class. Biology, yep, and then
- 47:42Speaker 2: uh yeah, it's a little basic vanilla sprinkles. That's like
- 47:46Speaker 2: what my five year olds on orders. No question he'll
- 47:48Speaker 2: graduate beyond that someday. But I never did.
- 47:51Speaker 4: I never did know. And things have going okay for me.
- 47:53Speaker 4: So I'm a boy. I'm doing I'm doing just fine.
- 47:57Speaker 1: Boy.
- 47:58Speaker 4: I do enjoy I do enjoy vanilla ice cream with
- 48:00Speaker 4: caramel and sprinkles. But you can't beat it. Ice Cream
- 48:02Speaker 4: is the one thing for me.
- 48:03Speaker 2: As for as far as food, that's the rest of
- 48:05Speaker 2: my family.
- 48:05Speaker 4: If it's in the house, I can't say no.
- 48:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm an ice cream guy, like my my growing.
- 48:09Speaker 1: Up to do it.
- 48:13Speaker 2: If you're gonna, you're gonna, like hold my hand to
- 48:14Speaker 2: the fire to go get ice cream, we'll get some
- 48:16Speaker 2: then ship. But I don't need it. And that's probably
- 48:19Speaker 2: one of the few things that I can watch someone
- 48:21Speaker 2: else eat and I'm not tempted to jump in. But
- 48:23Speaker 2: if you get a pizza and like, I'm just eight. Yeah,
- 48:27Speaker 2: I'm a slice.
- 48:28Speaker 1: You figure out enough room in your b.
- 48:30Speaker 2: I'll find a way, yeah, rationalized.
- 48:34Speaker 1: Colt. And I would just be ravaging the ice cream
- 48:37Speaker 1: bar before like nights before games.
- 48:39Speaker 2: That doesn't that doesn't do it for me. You have
- 48:40Speaker 2: the ice cream, I will say. And I don't know
- 48:42Speaker 2: if listeners know about the fact that when we eat
- 48:45Speaker 2: as a team. I've played on three teams and even
- 48:47Speaker 2: going back to college for some reason. You know, we
- 48:49Speaker 2: have the registered dietitian, you know, eat healthy. Let's get
- 48:52Speaker 2: our collegen protein. They got me all week long, right,
- 48:54Speaker 2: They're diligent on you know, you need your beat Root
- 48:56Speaker 2: juice to make sure you handle elevation in Denver. And
- 49:00Speaker 2: then sure enough, like clockwork, nine pm meetings. Then night
- 49:03Speaker 2: before the game at the hotel, ice cream comes out,
- 49:07Speaker 2: the cookies come out, so pizza comes out, and I'm.
- 49:09Speaker 1: Like, what are we doing?
- 49:11Speaker 4: What are we doing?
- 49:11Speaker 2: But I brought it up one time. I was like,
- 49:13Speaker 2: you know, night before a game, maybe that's not the
- 49:15Speaker 2: best time to just like binge and let it all go.
- 49:18Speaker 2: Like maybe that's the worst time, arguably, And I had
- 49:21Speaker 2: a strength coach. You said I was in Chicago. We
- 49:23Speaker 2: brought this up and we did it. We said it's gone,
- 49:27Speaker 2: and he said there was a riot, Like it wasn't
- 49:30Speaker 2: He said it wasn't worth the blowback, Like we try.
- 49:34Speaker 2: We tried to remove it, and we saw what happens
- 49:37Speaker 2: when you don't give the guys their outlet, like the
- 49:39Speaker 2: stress of the season and that outlet for coaches and
- 49:42Speaker 2: for players the night before the game, when you took
- 49:44Speaker 2: that away, that like it wasn't worth it. So it
- 49:46Speaker 2: was back the next week.
- 49:47Speaker 4: It would always blew me away, like the night thing
- 49:50Speaker 4: is every team. Yeah, but there's always a way to
- 49:52Speaker 4: be like, OK, fight this now, I'll sleep it off.
- 49:54Speaker 4: All the ball be fun in the morning. It blew
- 49:56Speaker 4: me away when breakfast hits and there's the waffle make
- 50:00Speaker 4: he and guys got loads of whipped cream on it. Yeah,
- 50:03Speaker 4: it's like a noon game. We played at seven thirty.
- 50:06Speaker 2: Played Chicago one year. Coach Callahan, Bill Callen our online
- 50:09Speaker 2: coaches from Chicago. So he's big on deep dish Chicago
- 50:12Speaker 2: style pizza. And we go, you know, stay downtown and
- 50:16Speaker 2: Coach Callen's oxide he goes, I'm gonna go get the lineman,
- 50:18Speaker 2: you know, Giordonald's, so he had an ordered the hotel
- 50:20Speaker 2: playing dish. So the lineman just pigged out Saturday night
- 50:24Speaker 2: on gior Donald's and I'll never forget. Get on the
- 50:26Speaker 2: bus after the game we won, and Morgan Moses run
- 50:29Speaker 2: on the bus to back to the hair report, and
- 50:30Speaker 2: Morgan goes, I'm not gonna lie, like I was feeling
- 50:33Speaker 2: that pizza the whole game.
- 50:34Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, like this is so funny how we
- 50:37Speaker 1: do it to ourselves, I know, but I always chalked
- 50:39Speaker 1: it up like I had a good fourth preseason game
- 50:41Speaker 1: against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and I had ice cream
- 50:43Speaker 1: with Carmel Eminem's in it candy, and I had a
- 50:46Speaker 1: good game to where when I was feeling advice, which
- 50:50Speaker 1: is often, I was like, well, it's kind of like
- 50:52Speaker 1: my good luck charm. Yeah, to you know, have a
- 50:54Speaker 1: little have a little trick.
- 50:55Speaker 4: That's the worst part about superstition, I know, because sometimes
- 50:58Speaker 4: you'll accidentally do something you'll play really well, like what
- 51:00Speaker 4: did I do differently?
- 51:01Speaker 1: Yea?
- 51:02Speaker 4: In the routine, it's always something that's not good that
- 51:04Speaker 4: it's easy too. Yeah.
- 51:06Speaker 2: So at Michigan State, our routine night before games was
- 51:09Speaker 2: a movie coach Dan Tukiy from Coast Antonio. He wanted
- 51:12Speaker 2: a movie, and I realized after a while that the
- 51:15Speaker 2: reason we watch a movie, it was nothing to do
- 51:17Speaker 2: with football. It wasn't like we wrotching Rudy like we
- 51:18Speaker 2: were watching like, you know, just something whatever whatever he
- 51:22Speaker 2: wanted to watch, I guess or whatever the team voted on,
- 51:24Speaker 2: the captains voted on. So we watched the movie and
- 51:28Speaker 2: I realized it was for coch Antonio. It was just
- 51:30Speaker 2: like the two hours of the week where no one
- 51:32Speaker 2: bothered him, where he was like able to just like
- 51:35Speaker 2: catch his breath and feel like he was doing something
- 51:37Speaker 2: with the team, but really he was just watching a movie.
- 51:39Speaker 2: So it was the movie was a big deal to him, like, yeah,
- 51:41Speaker 2: what's the movie tonight? What are we watching? Because he
- 51:43Speaker 2: like he needed that break. And I feel like that's
- 51:46Speaker 2: the ice cream.
- 51:46Speaker 1: And you keep guy, and you also keep the team.
- 51:49Speaker 1: You keep guys like you know, doing anything else, correct,
- 51:52Speaker 1: You keep everybody in the building. We know for the two
- 51:54Speaker 1: hours we're together, then we'll go to the hotel after.
- 51:56Speaker 1: I know you guys won't get in any trouble.
- 51:59Speaker 2: I mean I haven't gone to the ice cream bar yet.
- 52:01Speaker 2: With the Falcons, but I'm very confident that night before
- 52:04Speaker 2: the first preseason game, our meetings are going to end,
- 52:06Speaker 2: We're going to head to the lunch to the snack room,
- 52:09Speaker 2: and it is going to be look.
- 52:10Speaker 4: Exactly, it's going to be bad pizza and then there's
- 52:15Speaker 4: tons of ice creams just sitting out waiting for everybody.
- 52:17Speaker 1: Do you have any superstitions I have.
- 52:19Speaker 2: I always say it's a routine, and there's as it's
- 52:23Speaker 2: a fine line between routine and superstition. So it's like
- 52:26Speaker 2: I want to, you know, go out for warmos at
- 52:28Speaker 2: the same time, I want to make sure I go
- 52:30Speaker 2: through the same warm up. I want to usually get
- 52:34Speaker 2: on the same bus. There's a lot of things like
- 52:37Speaker 2: I do that. It's more that I just have a
- 52:39Speaker 2: routine and I like to be able to turn my
- 52:41Speaker 2: brain off, so like to be able to just not
- 52:42Speaker 2: have to think about things. So it's like, oh, I
- 52:44Speaker 2: don't have to make I don't want any energy towards decisions.
- 52:46Speaker 2: So I want to make a decision on which bus
- 52:48Speaker 2: to get on or where to sit, or I just
- 52:49Speaker 2: want to know this is what I do, this is
- 52:50Speaker 2: how I do it, so that all my energy is
- 52:52Speaker 2: towards the game and not towards decisions. So it looks
- 52:55Speaker 2: like superstition, but really it's really just just routine.
- 52:58Speaker 1: Has it ever been thrown off? And it kind of
- 52:59Speaker 1: just put you in a frenzy?
- 53:02Speaker 2: Well, it's funny, is I have to remind myself kind
- 53:04Speaker 2: of like you did that. I do get thrown off.
- 53:06Speaker 2: I get I get really a aggie before games, like
- 53:09Speaker 2: if you you know, say something wrong, to do something wrong,
- 53:11Speaker 2: to be like come on man, like yeah, lock it.
- 53:13Speaker 2: But after the game, if to remind myself on the
- 53:15Speaker 2: bus going to the airport, like, Okay, it wasn't perfect.
- 53:18Speaker 2: We played fine, we did well, we won, Like you
- 53:20Speaker 2: gotta you have to be resilient because you're gonna have
- 53:22Speaker 2: those games where it's a thirty millionn hour wind and
- 53:23Speaker 2: it's snowing, or it's you know, your leg doesn't feel right,
- 53:26Speaker 2: and like, if you need everything to be perfect, you're
- 53:28Speaker 2: gonna be a head case. So you have to remind
- 53:30Speaker 2: yourself when things weren't perfect and you played well, because
- 53:33Speaker 2: then it gives you confidence the next time when things
- 53:35Speaker 2: aren't lined up.
- 53:36Speaker 1: Well, do you remember I felt like you had a year.
- 53:38Speaker 1: I don't know if it only lasted a year, or
- 53:39Speaker 1: if it's still something you do, but you had I
- 53:42Speaker 1: believe every fifteen minutes.
- 53:44Speaker 2: Yeah, journaled out. Yeah, so that's fun, out of control.
- 53:47Speaker 2: But here's what happened. Here's the original deal. So your
- 53:49Speaker 2: second year twenty fourteen. I got thrown in win griff
- 53:52Speaker 2: dislocated his ankle, and I had some good moments, like
- 53:55Speaker 2: I showed flashes of like, hey, this guy's got potential,
- 53:58Speaker 2: But then I threw a lot of picks and I
- 54:00Speaker 2: was lost. I was still figuring it out and how
- 54:02Speaker 2: to do it. But part of the problem I felt
- 54:04Speaker 2: was I did not have routine. I didn't know where
- 54:07Speaker 2: I needed to be when. I didn't know how long
- 54:09Speaker 2: to stay after practice to make sure I was ready.
- 54:11Speaker 2: So I went into games. I didn't feel ready because
- 54:13Speaker 2: I didn't know what ready should feel like. So my
- 54:16Speaker 2: wife noticed it. We were first year of marriage, and
- 54:19Speaker 2: you know, I'd always felt like my wife is like
- 54:21Speaker 2: a great sounding board to bounce things off of, or
- 54:23Speaker 2: if she says, hey, you should call this person or
- 54:24Speaker 2: do that. I used to blow it off. Now I
- 54:26Speaker 2: just do it because I'm like, she's right, I need
- 54:28Speaker 2: to do that, even if I don't feel like it.
- 54:29Speaker 2: So after that, going into twenty fifteen, that year that
- 54:34Speaker 2: I started the whole season, and she said to me
- 54:37Speaker 2: that last year didn't work. So she's like, you gotta
- 54:39Speaker 2: I don't know what you gotta do. We gotta figure
- 54:40Speaker 2: this out. So that was when I was like, all right,
- 54:42Speaker 2: let's sit down Julie and I. Let's talk through the week,
- 54:44Speaker 2: Like what should it look like. I should go to
- 54:46Speaker 2: work at this time on Monday, come back about this time,
- 54:48Speaker 2: go see this body work person here. Tuesday, I'm gonna
- 54:50Speaker 2: take off Wednesday. I'll be at the building till this time.
- 54:53Speaker 2: So I just scheduled it out more so for me
- 54:56Speaker 2: and Julie to like have our plan of what life
- 54:58Speaker 2: should look like. And we played really well and I
- 55:00Speaker 2: felt that peace. Like I would go home on Wednesday
- 55:02Speaker 2: at six thirty at night and I'd be like, I'm good,
- 55:05Speaker 2: I got my work done. I plan this out. I
- 55:07Speaker 2: said in August, like at Wednesday at six thirty, I
- 55:09Speaker 2: should have my work done for the day. So at
- 55:11Speaker 2: six forty five, I don't need to be driving home
- 55:13Speaker 2: feeling like I should still be at work. So it's
- 55:16Speaker 2: almost like it gave me like a piece yeah to
- 55:17Speaker 2: be like when I'm off, I'm off, I don't need
- 55:20Speaker 2: to still have my mind be at work. That was
- 55:22Speaker 2: why I did it. Yeah, and then we played well
- 55:24Speaker 2: and I realized like, okay, this routine works, Like I'm
- 55:26Speaker 2: just gonna keep plugging away at this and so I
- 55:28Speaker 2: to this day kind of keep that same routine of
- 55:30Speaker 2: tuesdays off, you know, Wednesday, I show up at this time,
- 55:32Speaker 2: do this, and I kind of now I don't need to,
- 55:35Speaker 2: you know, in a spreadsheet, but I did when I
- 55:37Speaker 2: didn't have a plan for it.
- 55:39Speaker 1: Yeah, do you still have to do you still have
- 55:41Speaker 1: a spreadsheet?
- 55:42Speaker 2: You have to have Probably I could probably go back
- 55:44Speaker 2: and find it, you know somewhere it's probably is saved.
- 55:46Speaker 2: But it was just in the spreadsheet cells every fifteen
- 55:50Speaker 2: minutes I was able to fit it where the spreadsheet
- 55:52Speaker 2: sells or every fifteen minutes fit on one page. So
- 55:54Speaker 2: I was like, there we go.
- 55:55Speaker 1: Yeah, that's that's Kirk Cousins bro.
- 55:57Speaker 4: I know I've heard this story before.
- 55:59Speaker 2: I'm a planner like that. But once I for me, like,
- 56:02Speaker 2: once I have it locked in, then I'm I'm like
- 56:04Speaker 2: at peace, no decision, And that's what really helped me.
- 56:09Speaker 4: That's how most billionaires are really Yeah, they have all
- 56:12Speaker 4: their clothesline billion Yeah.
- 56:13Speaker 5: I have heard that.
- 56:15Speaker 2: I have heard that, like Mark Zuckerberg, part of the
- 56:16Speaker 2: reason he wore the hoodie every day is he didn't
- 56:18Speaker 2: want to think about what he wore. So if he
- 56:20Speaker 2: just wore the same thing every day, he can spend
- 56:22Speaker 2: his time and energy thinking about Facebook.
- 56:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 56:25Speaker 2: Throw it.
- 56:25Speaker 4: Yeah, because the brain is only capable of making so
- 56:27Speaker 4: many decisions.
- 56:27Speaker 2: There's a little bit of that, and I don't think
- 56:29Speaker 2: I have capability to handle a bunch of things at
- 56:30Speaker 2: one time. So I try to just say, all right,
- 56:32Speaker 2: all that stuff I'm not thinking about, and I can
- 56:34Speaker 2: focus on what I need to focus on.
- 56:36Speaker 1: Can you miss with Can you deal with this stuff?
- 56:38Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah? Ken runs my life. That's why I will
- 56:42Speaker 2: mention the guy Ken.
- 56:42Speaker 1: But the suit Yeah, can't, can't. Philippine shout out the
- 56:46Speaker 1: boy can. He is the best. We interrupt this episode
- 56:49Speaker 1: to bring you sport Clips. Your hair may grow fast,
- 56:52Speaker 1: but after going to sport Clips haircuts, you wish it
- 56:54Speaker 1: grew even faster. And that's because sport Clips has the
- 56:56Speaker 1: best seats in hair. And that may or may not
- 56:59Speaker 1: be because they happen to be right in front of
- 57:01Speaker 1: TV's playing sports all day long, each and every day.
- 57:05Speaker 1: And we know that watching sports while getting a haircut
- 57:07Speaker 1: sure beats watching your reflection getting your haircut, or even
- 57:10Speaker 1: listen to your barber that you might not want to
- 57:12Speaker 1: hear about that day, just chirp in your ear and
- 57:14Speaker 1: talk to you about his life problems all the time,
- 57:16Speaker 1: which is why at sport Clips, every day is clippers
- 57:18Speaker 1: and curveballs, high tops and hell Mary's. And at sport
- 57:21Speaker 1: Clips you can check in with the pros in men's
- 57:23Speaker 1: hair and totally check out with pure uninterrupted relaxation. So
- 57:28Speaker 1: come watch an endless stream of sports on TV while
- 57:30Speaker 1: getting an awesome haircut sport Clips. It is a game changer.
- 57:35Speaker 4: When your routine is so dialed in like that and
- 57:37Speaker 4: you go and do a show like Quarterback, Yeah, did
- 57:40Speaker 4: that mess with your routine?
- 57:41Speaker 2: And great question, It didn't. On the bye week. It
- 57:45Speaker 2: was something where it's like, man, I'm used to just
- 57:46Speaker 2: doing whatever I want in the bye week. Now I
- 57:48Speaker 2: got to give a day to do that. I did
- 57:51Speaker 2: put off At times I'd say, hey, let's film this
- 57:53Speaker 2: at the end of the season. When the season's over,
- 57:55Speaker 2: we can go back and circle back on this stuff.
- 57:57Speaker 2: So I tried to when I could push it off.
- 57:58Speaker 2: But then yeah, there were times where you're like, I
- 58:02Speaker 2: would love to not have to do this right now,
- 58:04Speaker 2: but it was a part of what we agreed to,
- 58:05Speaker 2: and I knew the end game would be worth it,
- 58:08Speaker 2: and it helped. We had a great season. We were winning,
- 58:10Speaker 2: but I felt like it didn't it didn't interrupt my
- 58:13Speaker 2: routine as much as it was just filming what I
- 58:15Speaker 2: was already going to be doing.
- 58:17Speaker 1: Right so I feel like a burden every now and then.
- 58:19Speaker 1: I think there was a scene where I think you're
- 58:21Speaker 1: sitting by the fire and you're upset about a little
- 58:22Speaker 1: maybe a burn market you're.
- 58:24Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that was the deal. Like we won the games.
- 58:27Speaker 2: That helped, but they were scheduled to be at the
- 58:29Speaker 2: house whether we won or lost, because they came into
- 58:30Speaker 2: town to film. They were going to capture that content,
- 58:32Speaker 2: and so I was like, well, really help if we
- 58:34Speaker 2: won in terms of hanging out at the house afterwards.
- 58:36Speaker 2: We won, and then yeah, You're like, I would prefer
- 58:39Speaker 2: to just be hanging out with my family, but if
- 58:42Speaker 2: I have to hang out with my family with the cameras,
- 58:44Speaker 2: then so be it. Yeah, but I try to just
- 58:46Speaker 2: make it like, hey, we're just hanging out. Let's not
- 58:47Speaker 2: let the fact that their cameras are on interfere with
- 58:50Speaker 2: what we would normally be doing.
- 58:51Speaker 1: Were you pretty happy with with doing the quarterback I
- 58:54Speaker 1: feel like you came out pretty well.
- 58:56Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, it helped. First of all, it helped to win.
- 58:58Speaker 2: I mean, I knew if you have a good it's
- 59:00Speaker 2: a different than if you were struggling. So I stayed healthy.
- 59:02Speaker 2: We won, which was great. I think it was really
- 59:06Speaker 2: important that you come across as who you are. So
- 59:09Speaker 2: when I got a text from a teammate who played
- 59:11Speaker 2: for the Bengals and wasn't with me that season, but
- 59:14Speaker 2: he had played with me for three seasons prior. He
- 59:17Speaker 2: texted me watched the show. I told my fellow quarterbacks,
- 59:23Speaker 2: that's who you are. Like, what you see in the
- 59:25Speaker 2: show is what Kirk was for three years. I was like, see,
- 59:27Speaker 2: that was the goal, is that the show wouldn't be
- 59:29Speaker 2: somebody different. And Sean McVay same thing. He texted me like,
- 59:32Speaker 2: he just watched the show. It's the same guy I
- 59:34Speaker 2: remember from twenty sixteen. And I'm like, see, that's what
- 59:36Speaker 2: you want the show to be. It would be shame
- 59:38Speaker 2: on me if people were like, yeah, that's not really Curt. Yeah,
- 59:41Speaker 2: you pull one over on people. But thankfully, I think
- 59:43Speaker 2: the show is pretty accurate.
- 59:45Speaker 4: Were you surprised at how well received you were, because
- 59:48Speaker 4: if you look at the two quarterbacks in it, I
- 59:50Speaker 4: mean you definitely as far as like leveling up as
- 59:52Speaker 4: far as people been like, yo, Kirk Cousins is actually
- 59:54Speaker 4: the man. This dude's awesome. Like you truly won the
- 59:58Speaker 4: popularity contest of those three guys.
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: You know, there's a conversation there to be had of like, uh, yeah,
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: there's probably some narratives that maybe weren't as true. They
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: were a little lazy narratives that the show probably helped
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: the spell a little bit. But even teammates now with
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: the Falcons, they said one of them said, we watched
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: the show and I remember thinking, this guy's a lot
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: tougher than I would have thought, and I never think
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: it like nice to hear, yeah, like great to hear,
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: but like the previous seven years, like I don't love
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: that you saw me as as it was, So that
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: was a little tough to hear at the same time,
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: but I was like, boy, I kind of did the
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: show otherwise.
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: You thought it was the whole time.
- 1:00:36Speaker 4: Yeah, I can't have.
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: I always say with the Julia about my boys. I'm like,
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: we're raising two boys. I don't care if they're good
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: at sports. I don't care if they're good at school.
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: I don't care. They better be gritty. Yeah, Like if
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: my boys are solved, like I got a problem. So
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: I always say, like, I just got to make sure
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: when they're walking across the high school graduation stage that
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: I know my boys have grit and if they have that,
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: everything else is gravy.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: Dude, that's actually a great topic. I mean, you being
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: as successful of you as you've been in the league,
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: the amount of money that you've a master for your family,
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: generational type wealth. When you think about being a father
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: and raising your two boys and wanting them to be
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: gritty and growing up in a world, growing up in
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: an environment that's you know that on the outside it
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: seems much softer, seems much easier than most of the country.
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: Like what you as a parent, as a father, what
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: are the things you do that instills grit or that
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: you want to come off as with your boys.
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: I think, first of all, when they're good at something,
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: I don't want to tell them, well, you're really good
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: at that, you're really talented at that. I want to
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: say to them, I love how hard you worked at that,
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: because I want the feedback to be that you didn't
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: just show up and you know, when swung that baseball
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: bat or played that piano, you didn't just show up
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: and do it, even though maybe you did. You you're talented.
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: I want them to think I did it well because
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: I worked at it. So it's almost like a psychologist,
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: like a psychological thing of making sure they know that
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: they have something because they worked for it, as opposed
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: to they could just show.
- 1:01:58Speaker 4: Up and have it.
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: So entitlement, you know, it's something I can't stand. It's
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: I got to make sure my boys aren't entitled. But
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: I said to my wife, I said, you know, growing up,
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: I always knew that whatever I do, like I got
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: to make my way in life, my boys will know.
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: And I don't have an answer for this. They will
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: know that at the end of the day, no matter
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: what happens, they do have a parachute, like they do
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: have a soft landing that's sort of cooked into the system,
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: and that there's no way to like trick them into
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: thinking they don't. So that'll be the key, is that
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: they that their their motivation comes intrinsically, because extrinsically there
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: will be like a built in mechanism for them to
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: you know, fall back on. Because I love them that
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: I want that for them, but intrinsically I need them
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: to not act like that.
- 1:02:46Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: Yeah, it's always a work in progress. Yeah, what is
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: it the family that's like, oh, they're not going to
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: get nothing? There is it? Is it? Bill Gates?
- 1:02:56Speaker 4: Oh, one of those billionaire guys just came out and
- 1:02:58Speaker 4: said as well.
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: Right, Shack had a great line. Shaq said, Uh, I
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: tell my kids, you guys aren't rich. I'm rich, you're
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: not rich. Yeah, and I laughed. So yeah, I don't know.
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: We'll see how it all plays. My boys are six
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: and five. So that's to talk like I know what
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: I'm doing. I'm still figuring it out every day. But
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: it's a topic I'm passionate about, and I read books
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: on it, you know, to try to do it right
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: and and we'll see how it all turns out.
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: There are a couple you recommend.
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: It's a great question. I was actually true at Kathy,
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: the guy who found a Chick fil A wrote a
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: book called Wealth Is It Worth It? And that was
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: pretty good. There's a couple of there's he's written specifically
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: about raising boys, raising kids. There's a book called Preparing Airs.
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: So you know, I'm a planner, so like I try to,
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: you know, go out and learn and read and there's
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: a lot out there about that topic.
- 1:03:51Speaker 4: When you're at the quarterback then and you're showing your
- 1:03:53Speaker 4: family and your wife's dressing you and the coals and
- 1:03:55Speaker 4: all that, and you just see, you see how like
- 1:03:57Speaker 4: humble you are as a cat, because will's are I'm
- 1:04:00Speaker 4: telling like, how much money you've been able to make
- 1:04:02Speaker 4: doing something you absolutely love. Has ever been a time
- 1:04:05Speaker 4: where you're like I should go buy this one thing
- 1:04:08Speaker 4: I should want to do at question because it is like, dude,
- 1:04:12Speaker 4: you've crushed it.
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: I'll never forget my rookie year. You know Rex Grossman,
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: he was on a team, great guy. I was lucky
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: to get to play with him for two years and
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: my rookie year. He leaned over to me like it
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: was during a walkthrough, I think, and he asked me
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: a question like is there anything you know? You're a pro.
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: Now you got a signing bonus check. Is there anything
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: that you want? And I looked at him and I said,
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: a man, I've always wanted a sports car. I was like,
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: I would love a Corvette, but I was like, I
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: don't think I'm gonna buy it. And he he'll never forget.
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: He looked at me and he goes, you should scratch
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: that itch.
- 1:04:47Speaker 4: You should scratch that itch.
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: And at the time, I was like, well, I'm not gonna.
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: I'm not gonna. I'm on the league minimum salary. I
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: haven't played it down yet. I'll save, save, save down
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: the road. And what's funny is I'm in year thirteen
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: coming up. I never bought the sports car. And we
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: sometimes think of that conversation and I'll be like, that
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: kind of sums it up that like I never did.
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: And there's a point where at some point you do
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: need to just go scratch that inch. And I think
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: my Rex's point is well taken. He was speaking from
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: year eleven where you're saying like, yeah, just go you
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: only live once. Go scratch that. It's like have fun, like,
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: don't worry about it. It was what he's trying to
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: tell me, and he was right right. And so I
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: think there's some of that, But are you going.
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: To buy one? How close are we you looked into?
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: So I love cars, So I've like when we were
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: in Vegas for the Super Bowl week, I went out
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: to a racetrack and I was going, like I took
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: my brother and he's going for fun, and I'm like,
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: I'm going because I'm trying to test drive these things.
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: Here's what I want to get. Yeah, so, but I
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: you know, I still haven't bought one. But we came
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: here and Mercedes is a partner of the team. Stadiums,
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: Mercedes been stadium. They've been great. So if I were
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: to get one, I'd probably go that route, you know,
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: get the get the AMGGT. But uh, I've always wanted one.
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: I just never really pulled the trigger. So I got
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: to keep Avenue.
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: You still got that.
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: Well, my grandma's ended up getting told crazy stories. So
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: I buy my grandma's conversion van in twenty fourteen. Uh,
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: kept it going, kept it going. It was fun, We
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: took it to games of fans.
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: Probably kept it going.
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: Yeah, probably kept it going. But it was sitting in
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: a mechanic shop parking lot, and at four am in
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: my hometown, a guy goes off the road and runs
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: into it and totals it.
- 1:06:24Speaker 4: Like.
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: The damage was like ten grand and the van was
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: worth like four grand. So it was the gun.
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: So I had to do You think there's no way
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: to fix this with ten grand?
- 1:06:32Speaker 5: Well I could have.
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: I could have doubled think grand. The vans were four
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: You think I'm gonna put crazy over.
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I could have doubled owt But I was like,
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: you know, the shirts company check ought to take it.
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: But then we went in. We did buy a conversion van.
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: We bought a brand new one. My wife was saying
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: it's not My wife was like, I don't think this
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: is safe on the road anymore. She's like, let's just
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: get a new one. So we got a new one.
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: So we do have the conversion. Man, we splurs down.
- 1:06:57Speaker 4: That slirs on the conversion.
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: I have nice things. I don't want to lead the
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: audience think that, like I drive like a nineteen eighty
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: five Honda Cord and like live in a cardboard box.
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: But we have nice things.
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: I say, Julie still picks out your your fashion.
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: Yeah, because I don't trust myself. I dressed myself this
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: morning at like six am. When I looked fantastic, No,
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: thank you, But I'm a pump that quarterlink socks came back.
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: I've always felt that quarterlngth socks are the best sock going. Yeah,
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: the higher ones are too tall. The low cut or
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: too low quarter length is perfect. But for the last
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: fifteen years, quarterlink socks were a big no no. Like
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: my wife was like, you can't wear those, but they're back.
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: You feel like I was at the Pro Bowl a
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: year ago, two years at the back and Fred Warner
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: was wearing quarterlank socks with the with the Nike Uh,
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: like the dunks.
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: Were you wearing quarter links?
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: I wasn't. I was thinking. I was still thinking low
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: cut was in. So the quarter length came back, and
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: I realized that the Pro Bowl like, oh this is
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: good for me? Like this is good. I'm I'm long
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: on been like the Trailblazer to bring his back. But
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: that's the thing. I'll see, if I'd been wearing them,
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: they wouldn't have come back. So see, I wore a
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: six like your rookie year. I was wearing a six
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: around the building. Everybody would kill me for it. They're like, dude,
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: you can't wear a six with quarterlink socks. Like, that's terrible.
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: They're back. The swaggiest guys in our locker room are
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: rocking a six all day long.
- 1:08:23Speaker 4: What's a what is the running shoes are they? What? What?
- 1:08:33Speaker 4: I don't know that brand.
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: It's a brand of running shoes. Running shoes in general
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: are back, like like Brooks new Balance, who like that's back?
- 1:08:43Speaker 4: All right? That's only running shi.
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: Quarterlink socks and running shoes are in. If you can
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: fact check me on this, I know because I go
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: to the lift every day and the swaggiest guys are
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: rocking on. But like, running shoes and quarterlink socks are in,
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: and I'm thinking I was ten years early, but I'm
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: I'm in my sweet spot.
- 1:08:59Speaker 4: Now you're back.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: Yeah, now you're in your bag.
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: Now you're like the savvy swaggy Vett something like that.
- 1:09:04Speaker 4: You got the quarterline socks?
- 1:09:06Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: Have you bought yourself like a chain like the kirk
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: O thugins.
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: You haven't gotten a change. Jewelry doesn't really do it
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: for me. Haven't gotten a chain. I'd like to get
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: a nice watch someday, but a lot of them are
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: like invite only to buy yo.
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: I love he's so much. I'd like to get a
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: nice watch. I know Jonathan's in the Watches, Big Watch Relly. Yeah,
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: he's like talking to him. I like that underground, like
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: understands the entire game because.
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: It's like a I can't wait to talk to him
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: about that. Yeah, I got a teammate. I got a
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: teammate knows and authors, authorized dealer on who is maybe
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: gonna help me a little bit.
- 1:09:36Speaker 4: Who's what's the brand you're looking for?
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: Rolex is iconic, Paddick Philippe. I'm pronouncing that right, that's
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: also pretty iconic, So it's iconic. You don't want to
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: get like a deep cut. I like to get something
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: where it's kind of right down main street.
- 1:09:50Speaker 4: This h one of our sponsors is True Classic and
- 1:09:53Speaker 4: he's a big watch guy. The CEO is a big
- 1:09:55Speaker 4: watch guy, and he was telling me Rolex is where
- 1:09:57Speaker 4: people start, Paddock is where they finish.
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: Well, maybe I should go to Paddic then the line.
- 1:10:03Speaker 4: The finishing line, so good right there.
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: Yeah, but I haven't done. I haven't pulled the trigger
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: on that one yet.
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: Maybe maybe maybe someday.
- 1:10:11Speaker 4: You should just do it all one swoop, one day,
- 1:10:15Speaker 4: just like pick a day three years from now. You're like,
- 1:10:16Speaker 4: all right, may.
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm just get a scratching Maybe I'll bring rexcos.
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: We will treat yourself from the shoe parks and rack.
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: You treat yourself day or you just go to the mall,
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: no judgment, whatever you want to. You need one of
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: those days. Man, is your is your wife from She's
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: from Atlanta?
- 1:10:32Speaker 4: Did that play a factor?
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: So you'd have to know my wife will does a
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: little bit. If I had said to her we're going
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: to Japan to play, she would have said, great, always
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: learned Japanese, let's go. Like she that's the way she is.
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: She's just she's built different. Yeah, So it really isn't
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: a big deal to her. It's a huge deal to
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: her siblings, her parents that like, I can't believe our
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: daughter and our son in law are not only moving
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: back to Atlanta after being further away, but they're playing
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: for the Falcons like this for their sports fans. So
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: this is a huge deal for them that I'm playing
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: for their team, if you will. But for Julie, it
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: was kind of like, great, that's fine, you know, but
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: I would have been fine going anywhere, which helps, I
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: mean help and my wife I said, hey, we're gonna
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: play ten more years. I'm played till I'm forty seven.
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: She'd be like, okay, sounds good. And if I said, hey,
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: I'm retiring tomorrow, she'd be like, okay, sounds good. So
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: she's a little bit like yeah, she's a little bit
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: like yeah, whatever you gotta do, I'm here to support
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: and uh. And I think a big reason that I've
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: any had any success in my career is because I
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: have a spouse, a help mate who is kind of
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: there for me and is a support and does take
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: so much off of my plate. I think she's a
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: big part. I remember when I got married ray Right,
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: the strength coach for all these names from the past
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: good times, ray Wright pulled me aside. He goes. I
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: firmly believe Kirk and Ray was a man of few words,
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: but he goes. I firmly believe that players in this
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: league do not play their best until they get married.
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: And he's like, you got married, I think you're best
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: gonna come out and that year I got benched. But
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: next year, next year, the so it does.
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: I mean, it's like, yeah, you kind of eliminate a
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: lot of distractions that you know, single men would have spa.
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: I think you distractions. I think I think she helped
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: create some structure.
- 1:12:17Speaker 5: Uh.
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: And she is a great perspective, you know, like what
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: happened to day at work? What did you tell this person?
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: How do you respond to that comment? Would you? Hey,
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: I think you said this to the media. I think
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: you should have said this, like it's like a built
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: in coach. Yeah, and if you listen, like you can
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: learn a lot of good things from your spouse.
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: Yeah. Man.
- 1:12:32Speaker 4: You ever get to a point though, when your season
- 1:12:34Speaker 4: is dragging on, You're in week nine, you can't see
- 1:12:36Speaker 4: the end of the road just yet. You go do
- 1:12:38Speaker 4: the media and you come home and your wife's like, listen,
- 1:12:40Speaker 4: you said it like this. I say, like that, Well, you're.
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: Kind of like, honey, here's what I gave me.
- 1:12:45Speaker 4: A couple of minutes.
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: I'm on a boat in Lake Michigan, July fifteenth, and
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: I'm trying to enjoy my day and Julie will say
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: some crazy comment like I can't wait for football season,
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: and I'm looking at it. I'm like relax, like football
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: will be I'm trying to enjoy this boat ride. I'm
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: thinking about I'm not thinking about football, and she's like,
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: I just can't wait. I just love ball, I love football,
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: And I'm like, yeah, because you don't have to do
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: two days, like you don't have to gride. So she
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: she loves the season, but sometimes I need her excitement
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: to just be measured because it's July and we're not there.
- 1:13:18Speaker 4: Yeah, ten days away from camp, that's it. When it
- 1:13:22Speaker 4: starts to sinking, like damn, like it's really coming up. Yeah,
- 1:13:25Speaker 4: we really got to go through this camp.
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: What went into you choosing Atlanta?
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: I would say the biggest thing was I felt, going
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: back years in Minnesota as we were trying to get
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: an extension to retire a Viking, and the offers were
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: coming in each off season that it was a one year.
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: It was a one year, and I realized, you know,
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: if I'm going to stay here for another year, I'm
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: probably not going to get to retire here. And so
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: I did sign a one year and did try to
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: make it work. But then I realized, you know, this
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: isn't changing. It's still a one year every year, and
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: I realized, like, I want to go somewhere, be somewhere
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: where I know I could retire there. And so that
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: was kind of the feeling was when I signed with
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: the Falcons that I think I'm going to get a
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: chance to retire a Falcon, and that that excited me.
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: Were the vikings ever? Were the vikings? Obviously they're in
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: the conversation and stuff. Oh yeah, things to make it work?
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: Well yeah, yeah, no, that they were. They were very involved.
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: They were, they were, they were great through the whole process.
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: They were great, and they always were. They were always great.
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: It was just that the structure and the structures what
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: is always kind of driven the conversation for me. The
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: structure was was more on a year to year basis,
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: and you thought, you know, I don't think that's the
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: direction I'd like to go do.
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: Not so sorry?
- 1:14:39Speaker 6: Go ahead?
- 1:14:40Speaker 4: Oh you had You've got through this situation twice for
- 1:14:42Speaker 4: your for transitioning. You set up relationships, established a home, friends,
- 1:14:46Speaker 4: all that stuff. You've made a move two separate times.
- 1:14:49Speaker 4: Now emotionally, how to how do you handle that?
- 1:14:52Speaker 2: Really difficult? Really difficult? Thanks for asking. Yeah, it's it's
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: just a big it's a big turn. It's a big change.
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: You don't like I don't, even as a sports fan,
- 1:15:01Speaker 2: I don't have an appreciation for when like Kevin Durant
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: leaves the Warriors and goes to Brooklyn nets I just
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: struck my shoulders and like, all right, he's still Kevinduran
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: Imna Sae him doing the same things he did in
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: the Warriors. But you when you live it, you're like,
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: it's a huge change. You know, it's a huge change
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: for family, for meeting people, for leading people. You just
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: hit the reset button and it takes time to build
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: up equity with people that they trust you and you
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: trust them, and so you do feel like you're rookie
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: again a little bit. You feel like you're going backwards
- 1:15:27Speaker 2: instead of taking steps forwards, which can be frustrating, but
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: you also know that's what you're signing up for, so
- 1:15:33Speaker 2: you kind of brace yourself for that.
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: Structurally, like I remember sitting in our row and talking
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: about guarantee contracts, you've kind of become like the example
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: for guys around the league whenever a new contract pops
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: for Kirk Cousins, you've had I don't know how many
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: guaranteed contracts. But when you were talking about structure in
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: the way it looks now you're in a situation where
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: you're in a four year deal, not all guaranteed does
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: that kind of like is that kind of the game
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: like you had you were young? So it's like, okay,
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: let's go more short term because I know I can
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: get You had a goal of having guaranteed contracts. Did
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: that kind of shift going into this next deal?
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: Yeah. I've always said, like, you deal in reality and
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: you deal in risk. So I can tell you all
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: the things i'd like in a contract, but if reality
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: is I'm not going to get that in the market,
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: then it's pointless to talk about. So there's a little
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: bit of what's reality. Reality would be that I'm coming
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: off in Achilles, that I'll be thirty six years old
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: before I start the next game, and therefore my market
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: may not be as strong as i'd like it to be.
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: There's also risk, like what are you willing to risk?
- 1:16:32Speaker 2: What are you willing to put on the table? What
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: are you you know? And I was willing to play
- 1:16:35Speaker 2: out a contract, you know, I said, I if all
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: I'm going to get form Minnesota is a one year extension,
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: then I'd like to just play out this contract and
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: I'll get that one year when the season's over. But
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: there's risk involved with that, So I try to deal
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: in reality. And I try to understand risk and those
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: two things, and I feel like the combination of those
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: two is what drove the whole off season process to
- 1:16:54Speaker 2: end up where it was. But I do think there
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: are too many players and really sometimes teams that they
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: aren't dealing in reality and they aren't recognizing risk, and
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: so you have to realize those two things are a
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: big part of all contract discussions.
- 1:17:06Speaker 4: That last part you just said about other players not
- 1:17:08Speaker 4: dealing with reality and not understanding the risk that is
- 1:17:11Speaker 4: the majority of college NFL players that are playing in it.
- 1:17:16Speaker 4: Do you ever sit down and have those conversations with
- 1:17:18Speaker 4: those guys because it is a so many guys live
- 1:17:21Speaker 4: a delusional lifestyle and it's kind of scary to watch
- 1:17:25Speaker 4: as you're look at you guys with my brother. You know,
- 1:17:27Speaker 4: if you're an undrafted cat playing minimum and you're rolling
- 1:17:30Speaker 4: around in the nicest car in the lot like we got,
- 1:17:32Speaker 4: there's a problem.
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: Yeah. I've always said that they don't, you know, the
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: forty yard dash. I'll you know, watch the combine on
- 1:17:37Speaker 2: NFL Network whatever, and I'll laugh and I'll be like,
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: until they have a forty yard dash that the number
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: tells you someone's emotional intelligence and self awareness. You really
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: haven't evaluated the player, right, Like you know, we'll get
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: some guys and you're like, yeah, he's a great player,
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: but like he is so unaware, like there's no awareness,
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: and eventually that's just going to limit what he can
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: do as a player. So or vice versa, you say, yeah,
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: the guy isn't the fastest, is the strongest, isn't the biggest,
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: but he's emotionally intelligent and he's very aware, and he
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: knows how to work. He knows the strategic things he
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: has to do to be better. And so I'll play
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: with him any day and he's going to be a
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: great player in time. And so I don't think they've
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: come up with tests at the combine to figure out this,
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: you know, separate the two. But that's a big deal
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: to me is people who can recognize reality and live
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: in reality instead of you know, a world that doesn't exist.
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: Yeah, right, Or they think they might get like guys
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: who could be in situations they think they're going to
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: get something in a negotiation and then it kind of
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: it's like they feel disrespected on something without understanding what
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: the risk is or the market or business.
- 1:18:33Speaker 4: Yeah, that's part of it is. Yeah, people don't understand
- 1:18:37Speaker 4: that all do you have.
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: Something fellas we interrupt this episode to bring you Lucy.
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: You hear us talk about all the time. You see
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: the videos we lock in with Lucy me, particularly Lucy Breakers.
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: Lucy pouches go up to twelve milligrams in strength as
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: low as four. I believe the gum even has two,
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: and they have a unique shape that fits great in

- 1:19:12Speaker 1: find in any other pouch. It helps you lock in,
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: raise your focus, and the gas station pouches get the
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: job done. But once you've tried Lucy, you won't want
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: anything else in your pocket. I can't tell you the
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: amount of fellows and gentlemen out there. I think one gal.
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: We got onto the Lacy Breakers through our spring tour
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: and everything else. But the guys who said that they
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: were gonna there once they tried these, they were gonna
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: go online. They're gonna buy the flavors that I recommend
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: in mind, Espresso Breakers. The breakers is what you need.

- 1:20:40Speaker 2: Quarter length socks do protect the scar.
- 1:20:43Speaker 4: See let's say it.
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: When when the uh when the scar? When it was
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: you know, no show socks. The scar would be very visible.
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: But now I can rock quarter length and I don't
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: even have to show this car.
- 1:20:53Speaker 4: You got a solid hand line coming into even wearing
- 1:20:55Speaker 4: those quarter lenks out, it was okay, they haven't.
- 1:20:59Speaker 2: Even come throw away, but uh it's healing up. We're
- 1:21:04Speaker 2: six months and change in. I was told nine months
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: when I did it was kind of the timeline August first,
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: but being a competitor, I'm hoping for faster than that,
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: and we'll see if we can get there when.
- 1:21:14Speaker 4: They're when they're sorry, go ahead.
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: I was just gonna say, I was gonna ask if
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: you converse with Aaron Rodgers at all time.
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: I called him. I think I did it on Sunday.
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: I probably talked to him on Tuesday just to say,
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: you know what, what what do I need to know?
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: Didn't even know what to ask, really, but he was great.
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: He was helpful, gave me his perspective, his thoughts, what
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: you want to focus on. And then I probably circled
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: back with him in December on our bye week and
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: he was very helpful.
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: Again.
- 1:21:43Speaker 2: At that point, he was trying to get back on
- 1:21:44Speaker 2: the practice field already and uh yeah, so he was helpful.
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: And then I started researching people have torn their achilles.
- 1:21:52Speaker 2: It was a it was a serious list, like I
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: made like a power rankings of the all time people
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: have torn their achilles. I know al Gore tourst go
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: towards Achilles, Judy Dench tore achilles. The actress uh uh.
- 1:22:04Speaker 2: We had Brad Pitt, George Clooney and one other famous
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: actor all tore their achilles Russell Crowe. Russell Crowe elected
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: not to have surgery and like it never got better,
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: so like twelve years later he got surgery. So I
- 1:22:18Speaker 2: felt like that was a good argument to get surgery. Yeah,
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: but Brad Pitt ironically tore his achilles while playing the
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: role of Achilles for the movie Troy. No filming was
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: suspended like four to six weeks so he could heal.
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: But uh, Tiger Woods, I guess towards achilles. I didn't
- 1:22:33Speaker 2: know that. A lot of basketball players Clay Thompson and
- 1:22:37Speaker 2: Kevin Durant, Dan Marino. So I was just looking at
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: like all these guys and it was encouraging, honestly, because
- 1:22:44Speaker 2: there are so many people who came back and live
- 1:22:46Speaker 2: meaningful lives.
- 1:22:46Speaker 4: Most achilles because you get worried about the Achilles because
- 1:22:50Speaker 4: that ankle flection would have been the most difficult part
- 1:22:53Speaker 4: for you in this recovery process.
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: Well, I think a lot of it is trying to
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: get the brain to recognize that you're good now. And
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: so it's the innervation of the muscles and knowing that hey,
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: yes we went through trauma, Yes it needed to heal,
- 1:23:06Speaker 2: but it's healed now you can go, we can go.
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: I think the brain is still guarding like it always
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: does after an injury, and so we're trying. It takes time,
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: and so you can do all you want, you know,
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: the exercise you want, but it's still a time has
- 1:23:16Speaker 2: to do its work.
- 1:23:18Speaker 4: Is is pain a factor at all?
- 1:23:19Speaker 2: I think pain kind of becomes like your signal that
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: you aren't healed yet, or that that's your limiting factor.
- 1:23:24Speaker 2: So if you move and there's pain, then it's like, hey,
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: why is there pain? Let's work through this. But it's
- 1:23:29Speaker 2: interesting how as time goes, as you heal, as you
- 1:23:31Speaker 2: do more rehab and exercises, you find you can do
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: more and more and more and where you're getting that
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: moment of pain that's telling you to stop is further
- 1:23:38Speaker 2: and further and further down the movement scale. So I'm
- 1:23:42Speaker 2: really close now and we just got to kind of
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: break through that last that last push here to go
- 1:23:48Speaker 2: from where I am to.
- 1:23:49Speaker 4: Like fuld go.
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: How'd you do mentally through it all? Like you get
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: from you know, you're obviously making the push of the vikings. Now,
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: you guys didn't start the right way, but the were ascending. Yeah,
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: you guys are aer You guys were in those close
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: games that you probably should have. We were really you're
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: starting to a sand and then you go from and
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: you're now on the couch watching the game. Everybody else
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: did you?
- 1:24:09Speaker 2: No fun? No fun. I was in a dark place
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: for a while, like anybody would be. You know, football
- 1:24:13Speaker 2: means something to me, and it hurt. It was confusing,
- 1:24:16Speaker 2: it was frustrating, and so I'd beliging to you if
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: I told you, oh, I was good, I was resilient.
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: It's like, no, I dealt with the same feelings anybody
- 1:24:24Speaker 2: would feel. You know, you're frustrated and you feel like
- 1:24:26Speaker 2: you're not you're getting a delta bad hand. But I
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: had to remind myself that, Okay, this football career, I
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: don't own it. I just steward it. I steward what
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: I'm giving. There's only so much you can control, and
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: so you control what you can control, and what you
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: can't control, you've got to let go. If you try
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: to hold it tight, you're just gonna wear yourself out.
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: So that perspective of being a steward not an owner
- 1:24:51Speaker 2: really helped me. And and uh, and so I said,
- 1:24:55Speaker 2: I'm a steward my rehab. I'm ann steward my rehab. Well,
- 1:24:57Speaker 2: and so what I did, uh, and you would have
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: done this too, well is I went into the training
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: room every day in Minnesota, and I thought, all right,
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: so my team, because I'm really not with the team anymore,
- 1:25:06Speaker 2: so my team is the guys who were also on IR.
- 1:25:09Speaker 2: So like I'm the quarterback of the IR group. So
- 1:25:12Speaker 2: we go in there every day. There were like six
- 1:25:13Speaker 2: of us, and I would say, okay, guys, we don't
- 1:25:16Speaker 2: have parole, Like we're not getting we're not gonna get
- 1:25:18Speaker 2: to go see the pro board. Justin Jefferson over here
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: is dealing with a bad hand.
- 1:25:21Speaker 4: Me.
- 1:25:21Speaker 2: He gets to go to the pro board in like
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: two weeks and get back in the in the game,
- 1:25:24Speaker 2: but we don't. So I kind of tried to have
- 1:25:26Speaker 2: our group, you know, stick together, keep each other up.
- 1:25:29Speaker 2: And then we did some trips together, did some dinners together,
- 1:25:33Speaker 2: just to kind of feel like we're in this together.
- 1:25:36Speaker 2: And I feel like that really helped me feel like
- 1:25:37Speaker 2: I'm not alone. There's five other guys whose seasons are
- 1:25:39Speaker 2: over also, and I think four of the five also
- 1:25:42Speaker 2: had expiring contracts, so we were kind of all in
- 1:25:44Speaker 2: it together and that was really good. And then I
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: was able to see the training room from the perspective
- 1:25:50Speaker 2: of what they're trained to do. Like when I tore it,
- 1:25:53Speaker 2: they showed me their level of excellence when it was
- 1:25:57Speaker 2: like they it was clockwork. They knew like where to go,
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: what to do next, every step it was just clockwork.
- 1:26:03Speaker 2: And so I had so much respect for our Minnesota
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: training room because I got to see them in action,
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: and even the culture in the training room, how they
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: had like that bedside manner where they know that like
- 1:26:13Speaker 2: we're all going through a hard time and they're able
- 1:26:15Speaker 2: to kind of really talk us through that and work
- 1:26:18Speaker 2: with us. So a ton of respect for the Minnesota
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: training room. And it was hard. But one of the
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: reasons it was hard for me to leave was knowing that,
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: like that's another place.
- 1:26:25Speaker 4: I got to start over for guys that anybody who
- 1:26:29Speaker 4: gets hurt playing a sport, they go through that sad,
- 1:26:32Speaker 4: sad boy period. What was the switch in your head,
- 1:26:35Speaker 4: because obviously you're having a hard time. You took this
- 1:26:37Speaker 4: amazing approach with the ir making them a team. What
- 1:26:41Speaker 4: was like, how do you get yourself out of that
- 1:26:43Speaker 4: funk to allow you to now, Okay, I'm gonna make
- 1:26:45Speaker 4: this a good situation as opposed to just living in
- 1:26:47Speaker 4: a bad situation.
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I think time helped also. Legos so I took
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: I told the Julie. I said to Julie, the team
- 1:26:57Speaker 2: left for an away trip to somewhere. I think they
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: may have gone to Atlanta or Denver, probably Denver. And
- 1:27:05Speaker 2: I said to Julie, I texted you because the team
- 1:27:07Speaker 2: left for Denver. And I'm sad, right, I'm like, golly,
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: I should be in Denver. I shouldn't be here. You
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: know a scooter, And I said, you, Lego, We're taking
- 1:27:14Speaker 2: the boys to the Mall of America. We're going to
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: the Lego store and I'm gonna scratch that itch. So
- 1:27:20Speaker 2: I went in there and I looked at like the
- 1:27:22Speaker 2: Lego person with the apron at the entrance welcoming me in,
- 1:27:25Speaker 2: and I said, you're with me, get a cart, we're going.
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: I was like, whatever, those two boys right there at
- 1:27:30Speaker 2: five and six, whatever they say they want, throw it
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: in the cart, and we're gonna start building. So we built.
- 1:27:38Speaker 2: We built the Lego Concord, we built the space Shuttle,
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: we built the home alone house, we built the James
- 1:27:45Speaker 2: Bond car. Like we just me and my boys came home,
- 1:27:48Speaker 2: did our rehab. We had time Legos. Let's go.
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I love it. That's that's the clip to him
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: listing off the Legos that they built. It's it's good.
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: That's a clip. And the captain is going to be
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: this episode is everything you want out of her cousins.
- 1:28:01Speaker 2: Well, how did I How did I get through it?
- 1:28:03Speaker 2: Legos got me through?
- 1:28:04Speaker 4: Dude. You go through all those Legos and you just
- 1:28:06Speaker 4: passed up the Titanic.
- 1:28:08Speaker 2: Okay, so we can I can go in on Lego.
- 1:28:09Speaker 2: We have a separate podcast I have, So.
- 1:28:11Speaker 4: I have the Titanic one sitting in one of my
- 1:28:15Speaker 4: rooms of the house.
- 1:28:16Speaker 2: Proud of you. Still that's yet, that's You're a built
- 1:28:18Speaker 2: little different like my ceiling's probably seven thousand pieces. That's
- 1:28:22Speaker 2: like ten thousand pieces, Like you're not You're deep.
- 1:28:25Speaker 4: I bought a year ago and I'm like halfway understandable. Yeah,
- 1:28:27Speaker 4: and I just kind of walk away from it for
- 1:28:29Speaker 4: months at a time, but I'll come back. I'll stare
- 1:28:30Speaker 4: and be like, I'm gonna take the next four hours
- 1:28:32Speaker 4: of my life and I'm just gonna do this.
- 1:28:33Speaker 6: No.
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: I love to build, like I love the build and create,
- 1:28:36Speaker 2: and uh, I also love following instructions.
- 1:28:38Speaker 6: So like.
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: Some of them, though, are too big. I'm like the
- 1:28:43Speaker 2: Coliseum the Titanic, Like I can't where's it gonna go
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: when I'm finished? Yeah, so so I try. Yeah, the
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: basement so we uh, like the home alone house, I'm
- 1:28:53Speaker 2: gonna pull it out every year is Christmas decoration, so
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: like yeah, like every year I put on the shelf
- 1:28:57Speaker 2: with other like Christmas reaess and stuff, and now I'm
- 1:28:59Speaker 2: gonna pull out a year for decoration. So everyone's got
- 1:29:02Speaker 2: a Everything I build, I like try to keep assembled,
- 1:29:05Speaker 2: and like I built they they have a lego from
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: the TV show to Office that's like an aerial of
- 1:29:11Speaker 2: the Office with all the characters and all the details
- 1:29:14Speaker 2: and everything. So I built that and then I took
- 1:29:16Speaker 2: it to our family office and just put it on
- 1:29:19Speaker 2: the shelf. Yeah, I'm like that will forever be here.
- 1:29:21Speaker 2: So love Legos.
- 1:29:22Speaker 4: Legos are the best Lego sponsor sponsors.
- 1:29:26Speaker 2: They should sp We got a lot of brands here,
- 1:29:28Speaker 2: the fast food brands, car brands, Lego brands.
- 1:29:31Speaker 4: Yeah, I pick one right now, Paddock or Rolex.
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: Wow, depends on the model. So like a rarer, a
- 1:29:38Speaker 2: rare Rolex that's like unattainable. Got to know somebody to
- 1:29:41Speaker 2: get If someone's willing to let me get one, I'm
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: probably going rolex iconic it is, but we're mean we're
- 1:29:48Speaker 2: splitting hairs here.
- 1:29:49Speaker 4: Yeah, both great brands.
- 1:29:50Speaker 2: And you did say Paddocks where you finished, So maybe
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: that was the wrong answer.
- 1:29:53Speaker 4: Repeating a cool quote that I heard less than a
- 1:29:55Speaker 4: week ago.
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: Let's dive into the articles that have been going around
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: draft Knight. Yeah, Kirk Cousins, Michael Pinnix gets drafted. Uh,
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: they call you when the pick is happening, right.
- 1:30:07Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: There's a Minnesota article that came out of reason that
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: Kirk left was they talked about hit them drafting a
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: success or high So that was one of the reasons
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: he comes to Atlanta talk about draft Knight Kirk Cousins,
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: the Atlanta Falcons picking Michael Pinnox.
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I think you're reminded again that you there are
- 1:30:22Speaker 2: things you control, and there's a lot of things you
- 1:30:25Speaker 2: don't control. And so let's deal in reality, you know,
- 1:30:28Speaker 2: and recognize that fact and then be a steward not
- 1:30:31Speaker 2: an owner. So I just believe that I got a
- 1:30:35Speaker 2: steward what comes my way and control what I can control,
- 1:30:37Speaker 2: which is what a steward does. But a steward doesn't
- 1:30:40Speaker 2: worry about that which they can't control. Yeah, an owner does.
- 1:30:44Speaker 2: An owner would be like, oh my goodness, So I
- 1:30:45Speaker 2: just got a steward this and and just just you know,
- 1:30:50Speaker 2: do kind of what I've always done as a player,
- 1:30:52Speaker 2: and let the chips fallwarre them.
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: May before you fit, before your brain starts to compartmentalize
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: and realize what's controllable and what's not. The reaction when
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: the immediate reaction when Michael Pennis gets drafted, well, I
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: had was a phone call right before.
- 1:31:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I had, like I'm trying to think it was
- 1:31:07Speaker 2: twenty one, so I have been three years ago, uh Vikings.
- 1:31:13Speaker 2: Three years ago. I was finishing up around the golf
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: before the draft on Thursday, and I'm on like the
- 1:31:19Speaker 2: eighteenth toll walking up the fairway and Clint Kubiak calls
- 1:31:22Speaker 2: me r ROC and he said, I just want to
- 1:31:25Speaker 2: get your heads up, like we made draft a quarterback tonight.
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: I was like, okay, Like and this was on Thursday.
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: This was on the Thursday, like college before the draft. Yeah,
- 1:31:33Speaker 2: so I understood that, like for a while, you know,
- 1:31:35Speaker 2: teams are always thinking about succession plans, are always thinking
- 1:31:38Speaker 2: about that, and they didn't end up drafting one that year,
- 1:31:41Speaker 2: but you're made aware that, like this is this is
- 1:31:43Speaker 2: a possible direction that could go. So my point is
- 1:31:46Speaker 2: is this isn't like a foreign concept. There's an awareness
- 1:31:49Speaker 2: that this is the NFL. You know, anything can happen.
- 1:31:53Speaker 2: And so it kind of was a part. I remember
- 1:31:57Speaker 2: I was committed to Michigan State, so I was trying
- 1:32:00Speaker 2: to go to Michigan State, but they didn't offer me yet.
- 1:32:02Speaker 2: I go on my official visit. No offers, they explained
- 1:32:05Speaker 2: to me at the visit. They said, we've offered five
- 1:32:07Speaker 2: other quarterbacks. If any of them commit, we will not
- 1:32:11Speaker 2: offer you because we're gonna take one quarterback in this
- 1:32:13Speaker 2: recruiting class. If all five don't commit, we would then
- 1:32:18Speaker 2: maybe send you an offer. So you'll do this official visit,
- 1:32:22Speaker 2: but no offer, go home and we'll call you if
- 1:32:24Speaker 2: something happens. So we did the official visit. In like
- 1:32:27Speaker 2: a week and a half later, I get a call
- 1:32:28Speaker 2: from coach Antonio. He offered me a scholarship. What he
- 1:32:31Speaker 2: was saying was is they went zero for five. So
- 1:32:34Speaker 2: I said okay, And I didn't commit right there in
- 1:32:36Speaker 2: the moment, but the next I slept on it. The
- 1:32:37Speaker 2: next day I called him, I said I'd like to
- 1:32:39Speaker 2: be a Spartan. So I committed, but I did understand
- 1:32:41Speaker 2: I was the sixth choice.
- 1:32:43Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:32:43Speaker 2: And then two weeks later, so I signed my scholarship.
- 1:32:47Speaker 2: And back then, once you sign, you can't back out,
- 1:32:49Speaker 2: like you have to sit out of here if you transfer.
- 1:32:50Speaker 2: So I'm locked in at Michigan State, no way to
- 1:32:53Speaker 2: get out. And he calls me two weeks later and
- 1:32:55Speaker 2: he said, hey, there was a quarterback who didn't sign
- 1:32:58Speaker 2: on signing day. He's extended his recruit and he's coming
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: up to Michigan State for a visit. We're going to
- 1:33:02Speaker 2: offer him. We think he's gonna commit. His name's Nick Foles.
- 1:33:06Speaker 2: And I was like, okay, I said, now, a month ago,
- 1:33:08Speaker 2: you told me that there were five guys that if
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: they committed, you wouldn't offer anybody else. Now I committed,
- 1:33:15Speaker 2: and those same rules don't apply. You're you're now offering
- 1:33:17Speaker 2: somebody else. I say, what do you think that makes
- 1:33:19Speaker 2: me feel?
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: Like?
- 1:33:20Speaker 7: So?
- 1:33:22Speaker 2: And Nick was the man. I'm so glad our past cross.
- 1:33:24Speaker 2: We were together for a year and he's been a
- 1:33:26Speaker 2: Super Bowl MVP.
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:33:27Speaker 2: So, but I remember at the time thinking like it's
- 1:33:29Speaker 2: gonna be tough. Nick's a really good player and probably
- 1:33:32Speaker 2: only one of us will play at Michigan State. So
- 1:33:35Speaker 2: I say all that to say this whole competing for
- 1:33:38Speaker 2: your job, coaches having to have a full quarterback room,
- 1:33:42Speaker 2: have good players trying to you know, get as much
- 1:33:44Speaker 2: depth as they can. It's more like, you know, copy
- 1:33:48Speaker 2: and paste than it is something new for me, because
- 1:33:50Speaker 2: this goes so far back to kind of how it
- 1:33:52Speaker 2: always has been.
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: Right Because so it's fair to say Kirk causes the Falcons.
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: There's no there's no beef involved.
- 1:33:58Speaker 2: No, and I don't think there can be. I don't
- 1:34:00Speaker 2: think it's helpful, like we're trying to win a super Bowl,
- 1:34:02Speaker 2: and it's hard enough, Like you know what I mean, Like,
- 1:34:07Speaker 2: it's hard enough. So let's let's all be on the
- 1:34:09Speaker 2: same page and let's try to go in a super Bowl.
- 1:34:12Speaker 4: I'm stuck on the Michigan state thing right now.
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: Oh, hang on one more for you, you go back to
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: the Michigan state because I was going to say too,
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: Like you brought up the example of Minnesota and QBAT
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: calling you on Thursday, Hey we might draft somebody. We
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: just had Raw on and Raw was kind of like
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: in the mindset of like, you know, what did he say?
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: There was like a line that he said, but basically communicate,
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: you know, when we needed to communicate it. He's like,
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: what if I told him before, yeah, that hey we
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: might draft somebody high and then you don't end up
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: doing it. What can still happen to a psyche? Not
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: that it would go sideways, but there's all these variables
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: that go in on how to communicate and they're not
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: always going to be right right, But it just had
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: me thinking about that. It's like, yeah, you have a
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: phone call where's like, hey, we might we could be
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: taking a quarterback tonight. Doesn't end up happening it's like,
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: well they're looking to replace at some point.
- 1:34:54Speaker 2: Yeah, and there's also like going back to reality. Yeah,
- 1:34:57Speaker 2: like there's a little bit of like, hey, you may
- 1:34:59Speaker 2: not like what you hear, but like it's reality. I
- 1:35:01Speaker 2: don't know tell you, like I'd love to change reality,
- 1:35:03Speaker 2: but reality is one thing. It's reality.
- 1:35:05Speaker 4: Yeah. So anyways, Michigan State, Yeah, let's go, they go
- 1:35:09Speaker 4: zero for five. Why didn't you just go to ann Arbor?
- 1:35:13Speaker 2: So tremendous question and this would probably paying some Michigan
- 1:35:16Speaker 2: State people, but growing up in the state of Michigan, like,
- 1:35:19Speaker 2: if you have them offered me, I mean, come on,
- 1:35:22Speaker 2: that's that's an iconic program and at the times Chad
- 1:35:25Speaker 2: Henny's a starting quarterback. I mean they pro style offense,
- 1:35:28Speaker 2: j iconic coach and Lloyd Carr like they did things
- 1:35:31Speaker 2: in a way that people respected. So yeah, but I
- 1:35:36Speaker 2: was you have to understand it. I was so far
- 1:35:39Speaker 2: not on their radar, Like I was nobody, and they
- 1:35:43Speaker 2: had Ryan Mallett. Ryan Mallett had committed to them and
- 1:35:45Speaker 2: was signed and for good reason. I mean, the guy
- 1:35:48Speaker 2: was so talented and once you get a Ryan Mallett,
- 1:35:51Speaker 2: you're not even looking. And so yeah, I wasn't even
- 1:35:57Speaker 2: I don't think I was. We have to go back
- 1:35:59Speaker 2: to that staff someday and ask like, was I do
- 1:36:00Speaker 2: you even know who I was? I don't think you
- 1:36:02Speaker 2: even knew.
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: I didn't have an offer.
- 1:36:04Speaker 4: He didn't.
- 1:36:04Speaker 2: You didn't have an offer, not even like I didn't
- 1:36:06Speaker 2: even speak to somebody from mission, Like I was so
- 1:36:09Speaker 2: far off their raidar. The no reason Michigan State came
- 1:36:11Speaker 2: in was because their quarterback, they're Ryan Mallady, committed, so
- 1:36:14Speaker 2: they were left kind of at the altar in December,
- 1:36:16Speaker 2: like what do we do? Because I walked off the
- 1:36:18Speaker 2: field of my last high school game with no scholarship offers,
- 1:36:21Speaker 2: So all my recruiting happened in like the last month
- 1:36:23Speaker 2: of the same.
- 1:36:24Speaker 4: So were you fully expecting to still continue your football
- 1:36:27Speaker 4: career even if you didn't get an offer?
- 1:36:28Speaker 2: So when I was playing, I was very aware that
- 1:36:31Speaker 2: like Division three was on the table.
- 1:36:33Speaker 4: But what about walking on? Nah?
- 1:36:35Speaker 2: I always think I want to play, so to just
- 1:36:37Speaker 2: like hold a clipboard and do the signals and like
- 1:36:39Speaker 2: live the dream of a Division one play that didn't
- 1:36:41Speaker 2: interest me. I want to compete, So I visited the
- 1:36:44Speaker 2: IVY league that I flew to Princeton. I remember on like
- 1:36:45Speaker 2: Thanksgiving weekend, my dad and I went to Princeton and
- 1:36:47Speaker 2: we walked around the campus just to like, hey, if
- 1:36:49Speaker 2: we can't get a scholarship, maybe the scholarship is to
- 1:36:51Speaker 2: get into a school of this kind of prestige. So
- 1:36:55Speaker 2: that I was very serious about the IVY League. I
- 1:36:58Speaker 2: remember flying to Yukon and Yukon said like, we'd maybe
- 1:37:01Speaker 2: offer you like a gray shirt, Like it was crazy,
- 1:37:05Speaker 2: like just standing there, like, please offer me a scholarship.
- 1:37:09Speaker 2: I'd like to play for you. And they'd be like,
- 1:37:11Speaker 2: we're just not sure. God din't with papist Jerild the
- 1:37:14Speaker 2: Northwestern and he's like, you know, we're not going to
- 1:37:16Speaker 2: offer you, but we would give you a walk on spot.
- 1:37:19Speaker 2: My dad goes the goes, how much would it cost
- 1:37:23Speaker 2: to go to Northwestern? Just as a dad goes. I
- 1:37:27Speaker 2: never forget he's and he was being honest. He said
- 1:37:29Speaker 2: tuition at the time, two thousand and six was his
- 1:37:32Speaker 2: thirty eight thousand dollars a year just for tuition. And
- 1:37:34Speaker 2: my dad's like, it's gonna be tough, coach, Like, I
- 1:37:36Speaker 2: gotta be honest, it's gonna be tough. So yeah, so
- 1:37:41Speaker 2: it was, but It's interesting because then you go play
- 1:37:43Speaker 2: against Northwestern and it was just such an odd dynamic
- 1:37:46Speaker 2: or it's like I was begging you to play for you, right,
- 1:37:49Speaker 2: and now I'm playing against you.
- 1:37:50Speaker 4: And now I'm dropping twenty eight on you, right? And
- 1:37:55Speaker 4: it when growing up, where was the line for you?
- 1:37:58Speaker 4: Were you Michigan, stayed? Were you Michigan?
- 1:37:59Speaker 2: It was neutral. My mom went to Iowa.
- 1:38:01Speaker 4: I don't think he can do that.
- 1:38:02Speaker 2: Her dad played at Iowa. So I was a Hawkeye
- 1:38:05Speaker 2: fan and I was again it was another school I
- 1:38:07Speaker 2: went through from worked out, from, toured the facility, like
- 1:38:11Speaker 2: his offer never came and and I can't say enough
- 1:38:15Speaker 2: how everything worked out, but uh yeah, I was kind
- 1:38:18Speaker 2: of just neutral. Watched Michigan Michigan State, and just kind
- 1:38:20Speaker 2: of enjoyed watching good football because my team was really
- 1:38:24Speaker 2: Iowa was who I was watching.
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: What was your size as a senior, so.
- 1:38:28Speaker 2: I was definitely undersized. My like played my last game
- 1:38:30Speaker 2: my junior year at like six one and a half
- 1:38:32Speaker 2: one hundred and fifty eight pounds. I remember that being
- 1:38:34Speaker 2: like I'm light, yeah yeah, and then and then to
- 1:38:37Speaker 2: add insult to injury, my forty was like a five
- 1:38:40Speaker 2: to two. So I was like skinny, short and slow,
- 1:38:43Speaker 2: so like you're not doing a little bit. But yeah,
- 1:38:47Speaker 2: so then my senior year I played at like one
- 1:38:50Speaker 2: seventy and I remember going to Michigan State and stepping
- 1:38:53Speaker 2: on the scales now post senior year at like one
- 1:38:56Speaker 2: point eighty and just being thrilled. So I didn't looked
- 1:39:00Speaker 2: the part. Didn't have a Division one body. My dad
- 1:39:02Speaker 2: always thought I'd be a baseball player because he just
- 1:39:03Speaker 2: assumed I wouldn't be big enough to play football. But yeah,
- 1:39:08Speaker 2: I remember at my signing day event where the head
- 1:39:10Speaker 2: coach talks about all the guys they signed, and he said,
- 1:39:13Speaker 2: Cousins reminds me of when I was a dB coach
- 1:39:16Speaker 2: from Michigan State with Nick Saban and we were coaching
- 1:39:18Speaker 2: against Drew Brees at Purdue watching his high school tape.
- 1:39:21Speaker 2: Hissibility to have like different arm angles and throw with
- 1:39:24Speaker 2: timing and accuracy and see the field. He goes, it
- 1:39:26Speaker 2: reminds me of Drew Brees. And I thought, if I
- 1:39:29Speaker 2: remind him of Drew Brees, like that's at least I'm
- 1:39:32Speaker 2: on the right track, you know. So that was a
- 1:39:34Speaker 2: good sign.
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: Brother, You've had a hell of a run.
- 1:39:37Speaker 2: Thank you. Hopefully there's more to go. The best is
- 1:39:39Speaker 2: yet to come.
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: Yes, boys, we interrupt this episode to talk about Can.
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: Say hi to Can. That's with two ends Social Tonics
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: Can Social Tonic spike their Seltzer with THC weed. Each
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: Can is blended with five simple, clean ingredients to deliver
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: the perfect buzz and he buzz that doesn't backfire. Can
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: comes in three award winning flavors, blood, orange, lemon, lavender,
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: and grapefruit rosemary. Can comes in a variety of doses
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: for every drinker, ranging from two milligrams to five milligrams
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: of THC. Head to drink can dot com That's drink
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: c A n N dot com and use Code Boys
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: twenty for twenty percent off your order of Can and
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: a free Roady six pack sampler. Can is not for
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: use or purchase by persons under the age of twenty one,
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: and CAN products contain less than point three percent delta

- 1:40:35Speaker 1: to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease, and have
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: not been evaluated or approved by the FDA. And if
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: you're like your boy who loves to ravage, just ravage
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: the pantry. Once you get a little THHC in your system,
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: these work to keep you at bay because of the
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: carbonation they have in the seltzer. It makes you feel
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: like you have a fuller stomach, so that way you're
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: prone to you can have a good time, a good vibe,
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: and not wake up the next morning and be like, God,
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: I've got a lock in this discipline with my diet.
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: But that is drinkcan dot com and use code Boys
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: twenty for your order of Can. Back to the episode,
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: how long.
- 1:41:13Speaker 2: Do you want to play Long Time.
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: The World crystal Ball?
- 1:41:19Speaker 2: I'm a one year to time guy, but for the
- 1:41:21Speaker 2: sake of the podcast, yeah, I'd like to play out
- 1:41:24Speaker 2: this contract and maybe do one more. So, uh, you
- 1:41:29Speaker 2: know in forty I think so. I think, you know,
- 1:41:32Speaker 2: if my boys are doing well, if they enjoy the Boys,
- 1:41:34Speaker 2: the boys will honestly have a big play in it
- 1:41:35Speaker 2: because if they're saying, hey, Dad, we'd really like to
- 1:41:38Speaker 2: have you stop, I'm done, But if they're like Dad,
- 1:41:41Speaker 2: you can't quit. You gotta go, like, we're enjoying this,
- 1:41:43Speaker 2: this is fun. I would go so listening to see
- 1:41:46Speaker 2: how they view it. But they love it right now,
- 1:41:48Speaker 2: and yeah, it was funny when we signed the contract
- 1:41:51Speaker 2: here my agent as we're leaving the building, he just jokingly.
- 1:41:54Speaker 2: I think he even said it to Minnesota too, when
- 1:41:56Speaker 2: we first moved there. He tapped him on the shoulder
- 1:41:58Speaker 2: and he said, all right, thanks so much, guys, we'll
- 1:42:00Speaker 2: see you, and he goes, uh, we'll see you in
- 1:42:03Speaker 2: three years for the extension. I thought that was a
- 1:42:07Speaker 2: good line. But we'll see one year at a time.
- 1:42:10Speaker 4: How is I know, I'm kind of jumping back up.
- 1:42:12Speaker 4: I know we've got to wrap it up. But when
- 1:42:14Speaker 4: this news comes in about the draft and everything like that,
- 1:42:16Speaker 4: how did you approach talking with Pennix?
- 1:42:18Speaker 2: And Yeah, I just texted him that night. I just
- 1:42:21Speaker 2: wanted him to have my number because, you know, just
- 1:42:23Speaker 2: to have a resource to reach out to of like, hey,
- 1:42:25Speaker 2: where should I live. I just want to make sure
- 1:42:27Speaker 2: you have my number if you need anything. And then
- 1:42:29Speaker 2: just congratulated him on an awesome college career, you know,
- 1:42:32Speaker 2: like lived it. It's hard to do and what he
- 1:42:36Speaker 2: did is at the top of the top in terms
- 1:42:38Speaker 2: of you know, the college success. So just wanted to
- 1:42:41Speaker 2: let him know that I have utmost respect for what
- 1:42:43Speaker 2: he's done. And and they're ready to get to work
- 1:42:46Speaker 2: and and I'm here if he needs me. So he's
- 1:42:48Speaker 2: got my number and he gets in. I think this
- 1:42:51Speaker 2: weekend for rookie mini camps, so I'll be able to
- 1:42:52Speaker 2: see him now and we'll we'll get going.
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: Yeah, man, do any of you guys have a question
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: for Kirk?
- 1:42:59Speaker 4: Have you heard the Comnic camp schedule?
- 1:43:01Speaker 2: It's light, it is light, it's light. It's uh. When
- 1:43:05Speaker 2: we were rookies, I had.
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: To do two rookie minute camps. It was a practice squad.
- 1:43:09Speaker 2: I was so pissed your second year.
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: Second year, Ko came.
- 1:43:13Speaker 2: Up to me because we don't really understand.
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: Yeah, Kome came up.
- 1:43:17Speaker 4: To explain two.
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: Okay, so I had to do two rookie minute camps
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: because I was practice squad my first year and I
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: only played the very last game of the season, So
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: which isn't you need three games to have a credited
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: season to mean like you're not a rookie anymore. And
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: so the next year, since I only had one game
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: in twenty thirteen, the next year, we have a few
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: OTA days and it's not even on my radar. And
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: Ko comes up to me, the linebacker coach, and he's like, hey,
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: just want to let you know, like we want you
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: to participate in the second Rookie Minute Camp, and bro
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: I was the theory yes though I did say yes sir,
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: and he he knew he was. It was Kao's first
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: year too. Yeah, and it's hard because you.
- 1:43:58Speaker 2: Have a full week of work, You've already four full
- 1:44:00Speaker 2: days and you have to keep going and then when
- 1:44:02Speaker 2: the weekend is over a rookie mini gap, you have
- 1:44:03Speaker 2: to start another week.
- 1:44:04Speaker 4: Yeah, and Rookie Minni Camp is maybe the most dangerous
- 1:44:07Speaker 4: weekend of.
- 1:44:07Speaker 2: The entire playing with people two days.
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: Chao spun at wait ultimately is it?
- 1:44:15Speaker 2: It was for development as well.
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: And he was like, you know, they only drafted Trent Murphy.
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: He was an outside backer. He's a pass rusher. He's like,
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: we didn't draft any Hey, the good news, we didn't
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: draft anybody. So he was like myself, I'll get to
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: work with you one on one versus like you have
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: like Keenan, Perry, Riley, all these guys that were ahead
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: of me. Anyway, we'll get to do some one on work.
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: One on one work together has a little get to
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: see more, You'll get to communicate and honestly, the rookie
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: Mini camp, like knowing the installs and knowing the calls
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: and being demonstrative out there actually helped me go for
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: three on the depth chart. And then I was one
- 1:44:47Speaker 1: on special teams across the board because has came up
- 1:44:50Speaker 1: to me. It was like, cop, you know you can
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: play right. I'm thinking my head like yeah, yeah, I
- 1:44:53Speaker 1: just you know, I need an opportunity. And he's like,
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: you do real well out here. He's like, where are
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: you out on the special team steps trot. I'm like
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: the fucking autumn.
- 1:45:01Speaker 2: The next day, bro one, it's interesting.
- 1:45:04Speaker 1: And then second rookie mini camp actually was you know,
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: a piece.
- 1:45:09Speaker 2: But it's a grind if you feel disrespected because you're
- 1:45:13Speaker 2: kind of true it sent out. It's like being sent
- 1:45:15Speaker 2: down the minor leagues for a week and and but yeah,
- 1:45:18Speaker 2: for me, it was arrived Thursday, get a physical too
- 1:45:20Speaker 2: a day Friday, two a day Saturday, one a day Sunday.
- 1:45:23Speaker 2: So five practices in three days. And uh, it was
- 1:45:26Speaker 2: like drink it through a fire hose. It was a lot.
- 1:45:28Speaker 2: But now it's one practice.
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: And meet one in a developmental day.
- 1:45:33Speaker 2: Yeah, and like in like a meeting about how to
- 1:45:35Speaker 2: take care of your finances.
- 1:45:36Speaker 4: That first time coming in a rookie rookie mini camp
- 1:45:39Speaker 4: and just like trying to digest a playbook. And then
- 1:45:42Speaker 4: I don't know about y'all, but the techniques for an
- 1:45:43Speaker 4: off it's a lot, and they want you to do
- 1:45:45Speaker 4: techniques totally different than you had before. It's like it's
- 1:45:47Speaker 4: actually a scary situation.
- 1:45:49Speaker 2: Correct, It's it's interesting how good you can be at
- 1:45:52Speaker 2: football if you're doing it the way you've always done it.
- 1:45:54Speaker 2: And the minute someone says, okay, now do it from
- 1:45:57Speaker 2: the pistol something you've never done for the pisso or okay,
- 1:46:00Speaker 2: now do it with emotion going this way, or okay,
- 1:46:02Speaker 2: now do it take this angle step instead of that
- 1:46:04Speaker 2: angle step, and you feel like you've never played the
- 1:46:06Speaker 2: position before.
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: So not only that, but also the comments like, hey,
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: I don't know how you did it Michigan State, you
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: know what I mean, Like we do it a little
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: bit different.
- 1:46:15Speaker 4: Here, but it's just like it ten anymore about that? Yeah, yeah,
- 1:46:19Speaker 4: I never thought about that, Like you being the pistols
- 1:46:21Speaker 4: supposed to be under center, how that could be so
- 1:46:23Speaker 4: different for you?
- 1:46:23Speaker 2: It just like the footwork on it and where you step,
- 1:46:26Speaker 2: the angles you take. You're like, the play's the same,
- 1:46:29Speaker 2: but I feel like it's a whole new offense. I'm learning.
- 1:46:31Speaker 2: So there's a lot of of pieces to start and
- 1:46:34Speaker 2: over where You're like, it's going to take time because
- 1:46:37Speaker 2: I'm not I'm not the thirteen year vet right now
- 1:46:40Speaker 2: in this moment, I can get there, but right now
- 1:46:42Speaker 2: I'm having to start over part of the deal.
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: Yeah, man, dude, really appreciate you. Know what I feel
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: about you.
- 1:46:48Speaker 2: I really appreciate it coming through this. It's great to
- 1:46:50Speaker 2: get on and catch up. And uh, now I gotta
- 1:46:52Speaker 2: ask Jonathan about the watches.
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: Yeah, no questions.
- 1:46:55Speaker 4: I will tell you this kurct Yeah, scratch that, itch, bro.
- 1:46:58Speaker 4: This is the second time you get This is the
- 1:47:00Speaker 4: second time you've come in this podcast. And the man
- 1:47:03Speaker 4: that you are being able to work through these processes,
- 1:47:06Speaker 4: going through trials and tribulations and being able to flip
- 1:47:08Speaker 4: the switch being like I can't control this, You're moving
- 1:47:11Speaker 4: forward is like, I think there's a special quality to have.
- 1:47:14Speaker 2: I was thinking about that with my boys, that like,
- 1:47:16Speaker 2: my boys are not going to have everything go their
- 1:47:19Speaker 2: way in their life. And I'm excited to say, what
- 1:47:23Speaker 2: do you think dad did when he tore his achilles
- 1:47:25Speaker 2: or like what do you think dad? Did you know
- 1:47:27Speaker 2: when they tell him he's not good enough? Like welcome
- 1:47:30Speaker 2: to life, boys, like this isn't And if I had
- 1:47:33Speaker 2: had everything go my way, if I was the first
