- 0:00Speaker 1: Where should I beget Can we talk about this?
- 0:02Speaker 2: What are you trying to beyond the usual controversial talking
- 0:07Speaker 2: over there?
- 0:10Speaker 1: One one to.
- 0:13Speaker 3: Prepare yourself, okay for Craig preparing ging you go here.
- 0:20Speaker 1: It stimulating, gets you a writing shot there, there, you
- 0:26Speaker 1: go back. You start becoming a team.
- 0:29Speaker 4: This is the Craign Cullen Show.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Jesus, oh no talking talk.
- 0:36Speaker 4: This station is now the ultimate power in the universe.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Your host, he's a good man.
- 0:42Speaker 5: You've been radio silent when it comes to the shooting
- 0:45Speaker 5: here of Florenzo Sado.
- 0:47Speaker 1: What are your thoughts?
- 0:47Speaker 5: I know you are very vocal when it came to Minneapolis.
- 0:51Speaker 6: Sure listen first and immediate thoughts, and that is any
- 0:56Speaker 6: loss of life is tragic. Everyone in Texas wants to
- 1:00Speaker 6: ensure there's no loss of life. And I do want
- 1:03Speaker 6: you all to know this, and that is there has
- 1:07Speaker 6: been a meeting with the Texas Prominent Public Safety, the
- 1:11Speaker 6: Texas Rangers, meeting with federal officials as well as with
- 1:15Speaker 6: your local police department here in Houston, and the Texas
- 1:20Speaker 6: Rangers are now going to be involved in an investigation
- 1:24Speaker 6: of this matter, working alongside federal officials to get to
- 1:29Speaker 6: the bottom of exactly what happened.
- 1:30Speaker 7: Now is this going to be an independent investigation?
- 1:32Speaker 6: So listen, anytime the Texas Rangers are involved, they work independently.
- 1:36Speaker 6: They're well known just in the stead of Texas, but
- 1:38Speaker 6: everywhere for the independence and conducting investigations.
- 1:42Speaker 8: Here's this is the Craig Collins Show KSCVKGBC, the Voice
- 1:46Speaker 8: of Texas. Here's the reason I say that's good. No
- 1:48Speaker 8: matter what the Texas Rangers find, my belief is that
- 1:52Speaker 8: they'll go looking for everything and then whatever they come
- 1:55Speaker 8: up with. Whoever you are, and whatever you decided. The
- 1:58Speaker 8: narrative of this story is the ice involved shooting that
- 2:02Speaker 8: happened in Houston. You will either believe or not believe
- 2:05Speaker 8: the Texas Rangers. But I do think this is the
- 2:07Speaker 8: right approach. Governor Abbott was here in Houston. He was
- 2:11Speaker 8: talking about something totally different, talking about flooding and all
- 2:14Speaker 8: kinds of insurance charges and how terrible they are and
- 2:17Speaker 8: how ridiculous it makes living in the city for so
- 2:20Speaker 8: many of us that live here and have to have
- 2:22Speaker 8: things like flood insurance on the home. So he's working
- 2:25Speaker 8: on something else, but then inevitably the press started asking
- 2:29Speaker 8: him questions about the ice involved.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Shooting, and these were his answers.
- 2:32Speaker 8: I have more another minute or so of Abbot talking
- 2:35Speaker 8: about this from a couple more questions before he said
- 2:38Speaker 8: that's it, he's done, and he left. But here's a
- 2:41Speaker 8: little bit more from me.
- 2:43Speaker 9: Floody Corners.
- 2:44Speaker 10: We know you've been supportive of the federal immigration crackdown,
- 2:47Speaker 10: but after the shooting of this man, who says ILUDHS
- 2:51Speaker 10: says was not the intended target, does that give you
- 2:53Speaker 10: any pause about how these operations are being carried out
- 2:56Speaker 10: in Texas communities.
- 2:58Speaker 6: So one thing we want to say see in Texas
- 3:01Speaker 6: and across America, we don't want to see people shot. Period.
- 3:08Speaker 6: That's separate from whether none of the immigration laws are
- 3:11Speaker 6: going to be enforced. I fully expect our immigration laws
- 3:14Speaker 6: to be enforced. But it's proven the immigration laws can
- 3:17Speaker 6: be enforced and stopping illegal immigration from coming across our
- 3:21Speaker 6: border can be achieved without shooting people.
- 3:26Speaker 3: They're going to be shot because not taking a look
- 3:29Speaker 3: at anybody, they're just basically shooting.
- 3:33Speaker 6: So again, the goal for law enforcement, whether you be
- 3:36Speaker 6: Houston Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, or or
- 3:40Speaker 6: federal law enforcement is the first thing, don't kill people.
- 3:45Speaker 6: But you can achieve that goal well at very same
- 3:48Speaker 6: time making sure you're enforcing immigration laws.
- 3:50Speaker 11: That's awesome.
- 3:51Speaker 8: And actually I'll go a step further, and I know
- 3:53Speaker 8: that the mayor, the governor, excuse me, didn't do it there.
- 3:57Speaker 8: But you do have the right to protect yourself as
- 3:59Speaker 8: an icy, as a cop, as anybody. So if you
- 4:03Speaker 8: are in a position where your life is in danger,
- 4:05Speaker 8: you have every right to defend yourself and even protect
- 4:07Speaker 8: people around you.
- 4:09Speaker 1: But we don't know what happened. There is still questions.
- 4:12Speaker 8: A lot of people have accepted the narrative, and I
- 4:15Speaker 8: don't blame you for doing that, especially if you're somebody
- 4:17Speaker 8: that wants to believe in the good in law enforcement
- 4:22Speaker 8: and specifically in this case, in ice. And I'm someone
- 4:24Speaker 8: who falls into that category that often wants to believe
- 4:27Speaker 8: in the good and these people. I don't think there
- 4:29Speaker 8: are many people who gravitate toward a profession like this
- 4:33Speaker 8: because they just want to like shoot innocent people. I
- 4:35Speaker 8: just don't think that that's a thing. However, I do
- 4:38Speaker 8: like clarity. The thing that sort of amazed me about this.
- 4:41Speaker 8: I was listening to Chris Alcedo this morning and he
- 4:43Speaker 8: talked about this topic for a while, and he took
- 4:45Speaker 8: a bunch of calls on it. A bunch of people
- 4:47Speaker 8: called into his show. He talked about a CBS piece
- 4:49Speaker 8: of audio that I'm going to play next in just
- 4:52Speaker 8: a second that I thought was pretty interesting and I
- 4:54Speaker 8: think a lot of people in fact, I thought was
- 4:56Speaker 8: pretty interesting. And then also, you know what, actually, I'll
- 4:59Speaker 8: play this first. How don't I do that first? I
- 5:01Speaker 8: did hear during Chris X's show that one of his
- 5:05Speaker 8: great callers, Chris and Spring, called in and asked about
- 5:08Speaker 8: clarification on whether or not somebody just made up that
- 5:12Speaker 8: ICE was going to pause stopping vehicles. And then after that,
- 5:17Speaker 8: President Trump said, now we're going to keep that going
- 5:19Speaker 8: because we need that to keep going to secure our
- 5:21Speaker 8: country and to secure our citizens and to remove people
- 5:25Speaker 8: that shouldn't be here. I played that audio yesterday. That
- 5:28Speaker 8: was Tom Holman, who was responding to a question on
- 5:30Speaker 8: Fox News of all places, about the announcement that ICE
- 5:33Speaker 8: would pause, not fully stop, but pause the.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Pulling over vehicles.
- 5:39Speaker 8: And so I'll play that again just so people know
- 5:41Speaker 8: this wasn't an invented narrative, it wasn't fake news, It
- 5:44Speaker 8: was real. But the President went ahead and said no
- 5:47Speaker 8: to this version of it.
- 5:48Speaker 1: But here we go.
- 5:49Speaker 7: You tell me, sir, what is the change in Why
- 5:53Speaker 7: are you doing it?
- 5:55Speaker 12: Well, that decision was made by the Secretary along with
- 5:58Speaker 12: leadership at ICE. But look, it's not a policy change,
- 6:01Speaker 12: it's a temporary pause. Look the last couple of shootings.
- 6:05Speaker 12: ICE leadership along with DHS believes they want to look
- 6:08Speaker 12: at these last a couple of instants and look, is
- 6:11Speaker 12: there something that could have been done better? Is there
- 6:14Speaker 12: any training to get me improved? Or it's simply I
- 6:16Speaker 12: used doing the job, and bad things happen when people
- 6:19Speaker 12: don't comply with law enforcement officers. So I think it's
- 6:22Speaker 12: going to be a short pause, and I'm confident that
- 6:25Speaker 12: it was training. The vehicle stops and you're going to
- 6:28Speaker 12: see us keep moving forward. But this is just a
- 6:31Speaker 12: temporary pause.
- 6:31Speaker 8: Where they it was a very temporary pause the announcement
- 6:34Speaker 8: of it, and then it was over relatively quickly. Here's
- 6:37Speaker 8: the thing, and I'll say this, and I appreciate the
- 6:39Speaker 8: stuff like what Selsado was saying all morning about the
- 6:42Speaker 8: challenges that we face in this country, the need to
- 6:46Speaker 8: enforce the law, the likelihood that people who have broken
- 6:49Speaker 8: one law might break more laws, all those things. I
- 6:51Speaker 8: understand all that stuff, I don't know why at times
- 6:55Speaker 8: from the side of the aisle r side of the aisle.
- 6:57Speaker 8: The intelligent people is what i'd call all of us,
- 7:00Speaker 8: A lot of us who vote on this side. We
- 7:03Speaker 8: don't want the full narrative on everything, Like why would
- 7:07Speaker 8: we accept any narrative on any topic without getting more information,
- 7:10Speaker 8: without getting to see it. And if the governor is
- 7:12Speaker 8: saying there's gonna be an investigation by Texas Rangers, great fantastic.
- 7:16Speaker 8: I'm not gonna play the game that the left plays
- 7:19Speaker 8: and left leaning media plays and tell you that I
- 7:22Speaker 8: can't answer the question, which means I'm answering it in
- 7:25Speaker 8: the negative, essentially saying that if I don't have all
- 7:28Speaker 8: the information, I'm allowed to fill in the gaps with
- 7:30Speaker 8: my biases, my beliefs, and in those gaps, I'm gonna
- 7:33Speaker 8: put a whole bunch of bad deeds done by Ice
- 7:36Speaker 8: or anyone else, because that's completely.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Avoid of the facts.
- 7:40Speaker 8: And I'll tell you one more thing, because I know
- 7:42Speaker 8: this is such a big story and CBS News, I
- 7:45Speaker 8: think Salcedo this morning called them fake CBS News all morning,
- 7:49Speaker 8: which was pretty amusing to listen to him do that.
- 7:51Speaker 8: But nonetheless, the thing that I thought was so interesting
- 7:53Speaker 8: about it when I watched national news coverage continued national
- 7:57Speaker 8: news coverage of a thing that happened in Houston more
- 8:00Speaker 8: than a week ago. Now, I kept thinking to myself
- 8:03Speaker 8: that one of the biggest things that blows all of
- 8:06Speaker 8: these discussions away, like just removes them from people being
- 8:11Speaker 8: you know, curious, is transparency, is authenticity, is more information.
- 8:16Speaker 8: And so I don't know why that's ever a bad thing,
- 8:18Speaker 8: and I don't know why we can't as a society.
- 8:21Speaker 8: I'll just keep myself advocating for this all collectively say
- 8:26Speaker 8: we can't jump to conclusion so quick, you know, like
- 8:28Speaker 8: not because we don't probably know the answer, not because
- 8:31Speaker 8: you're not smart enough to figure out what you think
- 8:33Speaker 8: the answer might be, but because if you don't have receipts,
- 8:36Speaker 8: you don't have receipts. And I think that that goes
- 8:38Speaker 8: a long way. And I've talked about this before, and
- 8:41Speaker 8: I've had people tell me about this all the time before,
- 8:43Speaker 8: like you're not going to get receipts. There's so many
- 8:45Speaker 8: receipts that they'll hide from you forever. They'll burn, they'll destroy,
- 8:49Speaker 8: they'll do whatever with the information. We found out today
- 8:53Speaker 8: that the FBI is investigating whether or not there were
- 8:57Speaker 8: drugs inside the vehicle the person who was shot in
- 8:59Speaker 8: Houston by ice agents.
- 9:01Speaker 1: They weren't like giant, huge drugs.
- 9:03Speaker 8: They were baggies, and I think they were found inside
- 9:06Speaker 8: and outside of the vehicle, like three or four of
- 9:08Speaker 8: them in total. So that this story is evolving and
- 9:11Speaker 8: we are gaining information, and I kind of think that
- 9:15Speaker 8: if all of us were able to be just a
- 9:16Speaker 8: little bit slower in the process of thinking we knew
- 9:20Speaker 8: what happened and yelling at each other kind of like
- 9:22Speaker 8: we did during COVID. All the people who were telling
- 9:24Speaker 8: you to get a shot and that you were killing grandma,
- 9:27Speaker 8: they were profoundly wrong, and they were incredibly arrogant in
- 9:31Speaker 8: their opinion the entire way. And then when the data
- 9:34Speaker 8: finally came out a few years later that told them
- 9:36Speaker 8: that they were wrong the whole time.
- 9:37Speaker 1: What did they do? They told you, it's not time
- 9:39Speaker 1: to talk about that anymore.
- 9:40Speaker 8: They shoved the goalposts as far as they could, away,
- 9:43Speaker 8: as far as they could into whatever corner of society.
- 9:46Speaker 8: It was because they were blatantly wrong and didn't want
- 9:48Speaker 8: to admit it. And I don't know why we do that.
- 9:51Speaker 8: We can just wait and maybe if we keep waiting
- 9:53Speaker 8: for information, it starts to force people to put more
- 9:56Speaker 8: receipts out there into the world. I know there was
- 9:58Speaker 8: a time before social media, before the immediacy of the
- 10:01Speaker 8: Internet and the news cycle that we live in now,
- 10:04Speaker 8: where we did this, where we waited more.
- 10:06Speaker 1: But anyway, I want to.
- 10:07Speaker 8: Play the CBS story just like Salsato in the Morning did,
- 10:11Speaker 8: even though I think he played it just, you know,
- 10:13Speaker 8: piece by piece and eventually kept coming back after commercial
- 10:16Speaker 8: breaks and doing it, which was cool.
- 10:18Speaker 1: I'm going to play a lot of it. It's like
- 10:19Speaker 1: two and a half minutes.
- 10:21Speaker 8: And the big takeaway is our Attorney General, who's in this,
- 10:24Speaker 8: who is saying with it? Seems a certain opinion on this,
- 10:28Speaker 8: And actually I saw I should also say this before I.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Hit plan any audio.
- 10:32Speaker 8: I saw the Attorney General did multiple interviews with a
- 10:35Speaker 8: local radio station here, one a group that's on the
- 10:40Speaker 8: other side of the political spectrum to us, and it
- 10:43Speaker 8: was interesting in those interviews, and I thought about playing
- 10:45Speaker 8: that audio, but I'm probably not going to promote another
- 10:48Speaker 8: radio group, another radio station. In those interviews, he said
- 10:52Speaker 8: something about how he had to remain impartial, like, I
- 10:54Speaker 8: don't want to show if I believe something, I don't
- 10:57Speaker 8: want to go to the vigil a vigil. I don't
- 10:59Speaker 8: want to be at this stuff. I want it to
- 11:00Speaker 8: seem as though I'm capable of looking into this story
- 11:04Speaker 8: in an unbiased way. And then in one of the
- 11:06Speaker 8: interviews he added, but if you asked me my personal opinion,
- 11:09Speaker 8: my personal opinion is what it is. I thought that
- 11:12Speaker 8: was hilarious because you can't actually be non bias. You
- 11:16Speaker 8: can't actually be in the middle. If you reference that
- 11:18Speaker 8: you've already made up your mind. You just can't do that,
- 11:21Speaker 8: especially when in those interviews our Attorney General was also
- 11:24Speaker 8: admitting he didn't have all the information he might have been.
- 11:28Speaker 8: I don't think he was direct about this, convinced that
- 11:31Speaker 8: some of it was being hidden from him, that I
- 11:33Speaker 8: had collected some of it or told people to delete stuff.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Whatever that narrative is, that's out there.
- 11:38Speaker 8: But I just thought that was funny that he's like,
- 11:40Speaker 8: I have to remain impartial so I can be a
- 11:42Speaker 8: part of the process to figure out the truth. But
- 11:45Speaker 8: what you know, and you know what I think, but
- 11:47Speaker 8: let's play. This is CBS News. Last night they had
- 11:51Speaker 8: a reporter in Houston. It's interesting within the last twenty
- 11:55Speaker 8: four hours, a national news whether you think they're fake
- 11:58Speaker 8: or not, as Salcedo does, and most news is still
- 12:02Speaker 8: pretty fake.
- 12:03Speaker 1: And even the governor. They've all been.
- 12:06Speaker 8: In Houston, Houston Fields for a lot of reasons, like
- 12:09Speaker 8: it's become the mecca of a lot of stories or
- 12:12Speaker 8: a lot of news conversation here in our community.
- 12:16Speaker 1: But here's the CBS repair.
- 12:17Speaker 13: During President Trump's second term, at least eleven people have
- 12:20Speaker 13: been shot and killed by federal immigration officers, and many
- 12:23Speaker 13: others have been caught up in high profile, very public incidents.
- 12:26Speaker 13: CBS News Immigration correspondent Camila Montoya Galbez has been looking
- 12:30Speaker 13: into why there's seeming to be so many of these cases,
- 12:32Speaker 13: even considering the president's policies. He joins us now from Houston,
- 12:35Speaker 13: Camila Good Evening, What have you learned.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Hi, Tony Good Evening. Ice sources tell us that they
- 12:42Speaker 2: are deeply concerned that these fatal shootings across the country
- 12:45Speaker 2: could continue to increase. They are under tremendous political pressure
- 12:49Speaker 2: from the White House and people like Stephen Miller, one
- 12:51Speaker 2: of the president's top advisors, to expand in ecreation enforcement
- 12:55Speaker 2: and to record up to two thousand daily arrests. Historically,
- 12:59Speaker 2: under Republican and the Democratic administrations, most ICE arrests have
- 13:02Speaker 2: occurred in local jails, state and federal prisons, away from
- 13:06Speaker 2: the public's view, Tony. But to enforce President Trump's dramatic
- 13:09Speaker 2: crackdown on illegal and equestion, which is not just targeting
- 13:12Speaker 2: criminal egregious offenders, more ICE agents are being placed on
- 13:16Speaker 2: the streets of American towns and cities to make arrest
- 13:19Speaker 2: in broad daylight, in public. That is a strategy Tony
- 13:23Speaker 2: that it's more likely to create the dangerous and often
- 13:26Speaker 2: tragic situations we have seen.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Here in Houston.
- 13:29Speaker 8: Now, I'm going to do something that Salsato, as I said,
- 13:31Speaker 8: also did this morning. I'm going to dissect a few
- 13:34Speaker 8: of the words chosen from that portion of the news coverage,
- 13:38Speaker 8: just to point out what I think is obviously a
- 13:40Speaker 8: bias that's already existing and already being demonstrated there. He
- 13:45Speaker 8: says broad daylight, as if it's shocking that police would
- 13:48Speaker 8: do things when the sun is up. I actually think
- 13:51Speaker 8: that that's probably better than doing something in the middle
- 13:53Speaker 8: of the night, so that was weird. There was a
- 13:55Speaker 8: reference of the amount of people who've been shot and
- 13:57Speaker 8: killed by ice. I think he said something like eleven,
- 14:00Speaker 8: and I heard Salcedo this morning say that they're probably
- 14:05Speaker 8: I think he said, I'm sure there are more people
- 14:08Speaker 8: who've died at the hands of people here illegally. There's
- 14:11Speaker 8: actually data that you can look up to back up
- 14:13Speaker 8: that opinion, and it is true. I think the data
- 14:16Speaker 8: says something like nine or ten just this year, twenty five,
- 14:19Speaker 8: twenty six, last year.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Every single year it happens.
- 14:22Speaker 8: And I know that data might be inconvenient to some
- 14:24Speaker 8: people's narrative, but it's simply true, demonstrating the unique challenge,
- 14:29Speaker 8: the chaos, the difficulty of the entirety of this story,
- 14:33Speaker 8: and then the branches it takes, like the roads it
- 14:36Speaker 8: goes beyond saying something simplistic. And I'll continue to tell you,
- 14:41Speaker 8: and I'm going to go back to the CBS audio
- 14:43Speaker 8: that none of this is to say that I think
- 14:46Speaker 8: what happened in Houston is good or bad yet, because
- 14:49Speaker 8: I still don't know, and I still think that's the
- 14:51Speaker 8: more intelligent way to approach this, and not to assume
- 14:54Speaker 8: something and wind up like one of the idiots during
- 14:56Speaker 8: COVID who looked like a moron when they screamed and
- 14:59Speaker 8: yelled something and the data wound up proving it not true.
- 15:02Speaker 8: And to be honest, just simply being patient doesn't necessarily
- 15:06Speaker 8: make you wrong. If what comes out is exactly what
- 15:09Speaker 8: I said, it just makes you more willing to wait
- 15:12Speaker 8: to then say exactly what you were hoping. And I
- 15:15Speaker 8: do hope that that's what happened. I hope that somebody
- 15:17Speaker 8: wasn't just shot in the middle of the street in
- 15:19Speaker 8: a way where you didn't need to shoot them. And
- 15:21Speaker 8: I have a piece of discussion about the video that
- 15:25Speaker 8: is still out there, but it's hard to do because
- 15:28Speaker 8: I know that everybody's not going to watch the social
- 15:30Speaker 8: media channels, the Facebook, and I don't think I'm even
- 15:33Speaker 8: on Facebook, the X and YouTube and Rumble shows that
- 15:37Speaker 8: we do.
- 15:38Speaker 1: And I want to.
- 15:38Speaker 8: Describe what's in the video, but I'll do that in
- 15:40Speaker 8: a second. Let's get back to the CBS News first,
- 15:43Speaker 8: and then let's keep going.
- 15:44Speaker 13: So Cimilla, let's talk about tactics as they pursue these arrests.
- 15:47Speaker 13: In some cases, they are wearing masks, they are driving
- 15:50Speaker 13: on identified vehicles. They're not using body cameras. How does
- 15:54Speaker 13: that compare to the standards of traditional law enforcement.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Well, Department of Homelands security policy stipulates Tony that agents
- 16:02Speaker 2: can only use deadly and fatal force when they believe
- 16:05Speaker 2: somebody is posing a danger to the officers or to
- 16:09Speaker 2: others in the public. In the case of people who
- 16:11Speaker 2: are fleeing on operation, like was the case allegedly in
- 16:15Speaker 2: that incident in Maine, officers are not supposed to use
- 16:18Speaker 2: any deadly force unless they detect that they're a significant
- 16:22Speaker 2: threat to life. They can now use deadly force simply
- 16:25Speaker 2: to stop somebody from escaping and fleeing. Tony, and we
- 16:28Speaker 2: have to remember.
- 16:29Speaker 1: That here in Houston.
- 16:30Speaker 2: After that fatal shooting, the local district attorney, Harris County
- 16:34Speaker 2: District Attorney Sean Tiery, told us that he's investigating this
- 16:39Speaker 2: case and that he's never seen anything like this in
- 16:41Speaker 2: his twenty years in law enforcement.
- 16:43Speaker 7: It appears from everything we've seen that either these agents
- 16:49Speaker 7: are completely untrained or intentionally putting themselves in situations where
- 16:54Speaker 7: they can justify firing into cars.
- 16:57Speaker 8: Yeah, and I want to reiterate something that I said before.
- 16:59Speaker 8: If you go watch his interviews that he's done for
- 17:02Speaker 8: public access radio station that you can figure out what
- 17:05Speaker 8: it is now that's on the left, and he's obviously
- 17:07Speaker 8: on the left. He actually admits that he doesn't know
- 17:09Speaker 8: a whole lot. So it's kind of amazing that the
- 17:11Speaker 8: national news clip of our attorney general is saying to
- 17:16Speaker 8: the world and to our country that what he's seen
- 17:19Speaker 8: makes him believe that what happened is terrible, that either
- 17:24Speaker 8: it's intentionally done or because of a complete lack of training.
- 17:28Speaker 8: And then in other mediums and smaller ones, local ones
- 17:31Speaker 8: here with friendly people doing interviews with him, he admits
- 17:35Speaker 8: that there's a lot of information he doesn't have. That's
- 17:37Speaker 8: kind of weird. That's a weird juxtaposition to me. But nonetheless,
- 17:41Speaker 8: I don't know the truth, and I want you to
- 17:44Speaker 8: understand that that's okay right now, it's not okay forever.
- 17:48Speaker 8: I think a lot of people, for a lot of reasons,
- 17:50Speaker 8: are definitely going to want to know what inevitably happened
- 17:53Speaker 8: as far as the story goes. And I'll say one
- 17:56Speaker 8: last thing before I take a first break, and then
- 17:58Speaker 8: we come back and we do a whole lot more.
- 18:00Speaker 8: That's both about this topic and a lot of other
- 18:02Speaker 8: things out there in the world, in the city and
- 18:06Speaker 8: just in general, and maybe some fun stuff too. But
- 18:10Speaker 8: the last thing I'll say is I get the impulse
- 18:13Speaker 8: to want to defend people, and in this case, even
- 18:16Speaker 8: the impulse of many of say, our own listeners, to
- 18:19Speaker 8: want to defend what you believe to be just good
- 18:22Speaker 8: ice agents, just good law enforcement officials. And how angry
- 18:26Speaker 8: we get when we hear something reminiscent of the amount
- 18:30Speaker 8: of lies that we hear constantly in the world of
- 18:32Speaker 8: mainstream or left leaning media. If you hear someone, even
- 18:35Speaker 8: somebody that's a friend of yours or somebody that you
- 18:37Speaker 8: agree with ninety nine percent of the time go down
- 18:40Speaker 8: a similar road to the road you hear the people
- 18:43Speaker 8: go down who you think are manipulating you. I think
- 18:45Speaker 8: it makes sense that people get mad, but I think
- 18:48Speaker 8: you got to pause, take a break from that, and
- 18:51Speaker 8: assume that some people are doing this in a genuine
- 18:55Speaker 8: and an authentic way with good intentions. We have to
- 18:58Speaker 8: give some people the benefit of the doubt who say
- 19:00Speaker 8: let's wait for more information, to believe in fact that
- 19:03Speaker 8: those people are waiting to tell you the absolute truth.
- 19:07Speaker 8: And the drug aspect of this story brand new today
- 19:10Speaker 8: is significant. Does that mean that someone in the backseat
- 19:13Speaker 8: of the car was dealing drugs that just had three
- 19:17Speaker 8: or four bags of meth on them? Does this mean
- 19:19Speaker 8: that the people in the front of the car, including
- 19:21Speaker 8: the person who was a shot and tragically.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Died I was involved in that.
- 19:25Speaker 8: We don't know, but it's definitely a brand new question
- 19:27Speaker 8: with new investigation tentacles, I guess is the way to
- 19:31Speaker 8: say it going on. But those who think that there's
- 19:34Speaker 8: nothing to see here, like there's no news here. If
- 19:37Speaker 8: that were true, people like Abbott wouldn't be telling you
- 19:40Speaker 8: that the Texas Rangers are going to do an investigation.
- 19:43Speaker 8: If there were no reason to at least have a
- 19:46Speaker 8: cause for concern to make sure that what happened is
- 19:49Speaker 8: in fact what happened, there wouldn't need to be this
- 19:52Speaker 8: version of events. But I also think that just the
- 19:55Speaker 8: genuine level of interest from so many people in the
- 19:58Speaker 8: public and in the city does demonstrates the desire to
- 20:02Speaker 8: prove whatever happened happened for whatever reasons it did to
- 20:07Speaker 8: make those people eventually accept the narrative that might have
- 20:10Speaker 8: been put out there. If it is in fact proven
- 20:12Speaker 8: true that that's what happened, and that's the same token.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Again.
- 20:16Speaker 8: I'll use the example one more time for the people
- 20:18Speaker 8: who think that all the shots and the social distance
- 20:20Speaker 8: and everything was good. There's a lot of data out
- 20:23Speaker 8: there that says you were wrong and that it's not
- 20:25Speaker 8: and you need to.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Face that pied piper. All right, quick break, A lot
- 20:29Speaker 1: coming up.
- 20:29Speaker 8: This is Craig Collins on the Craig Collin I almost
- 20:32Speaker 8: said filling in because I fill in all the time
- 20:33Speaker 8: and other stuff. And actually I'll be in all next
- 20:36Speaker 8: week for Dana. I think it's seven shows in a
- 20:38Speaker 8: row that I'll be doing for Dana Lash that I'll
- 20:40Speaker 8: air in the station from two to four o'clock. So
- 20:42Speaker 8: she's taken a vacation, much deserved, very very hard working,
- 20:46Speaker 8: very famous human being, and I will be filling in
- 20:49Speaker 8: for her for a bit. But this is actually my show,
- 20:52Speaker 8: Craig Collins Show, KSV, The Voice of Texas. This is
- 20:55Speaker 8: the Craig Collins Show KSCV, KGBC, The Voice of Texas.
- 20:59Speaker 8: Thrilled to be a few A bunch of stuff out
- 21:02Speaker 8: there to talk about. President Trump says that Iran is
- 21:04Speaker 8: now begging to settle as far as a deal goes.
- 21:08Speaker 8: This is not a new claim. We've heard this before
- 21:12Speaker 8: when things get crazy. I hope that's it's real. And
- 21:16Speaker 8: actually I'm not trying to accuse President Trump lying. He's
- 21:20Speaker 8: referenced many many times how Iran says one thing and
- 21:23Speaker 8: then they get behind a door and they say a
- 21:25Speaker 8: completely different thing and their pieces of crap, and then
- 21:28Speaker 8: they go out publicly and they say like a third
- 21:29Speaker 8: different thing, and it's impossible to deal with them. But
- 21:32Speaker 8: I did think this was interesting. Today the President, speaking
- 21:34Speaker 8: at a Pennsylvania event, said that you know, they really
- 21:38Speaker 8: really want what's happening now to stop happening. The blockade
- 21:42Speaker 8: is back. We're bombing the crap out of them. We
- 21:46Speaker 8: are more than capable of being in the driver's seat
- 21:49Speaker 8: and have been in the driver's seat here, and they
- 21:51Speaker 8: seem to think we won't be. And I think they
- 21:54Speaker 8: were counting on our politics and reading our social media
- 21:57Speaker 8: and watching our mainstream news media can convinced themselves that
- 22:01Speaker 8: they had leverage they didn't have. And President Trump is
- 22:04Speaker 8: trying to once again obliterate that idea.
- 22:07Speaker 14: And it wasn't Other presidents didn't do what was right.
- 22:09Speaker 14: They should have done it. A long time ago would
- 22:11Speaker 14: have been much easier, and they want to settle so badly.
- 22:16Speaker 14: They don't like what we're doing, and they do want
- 22:19Speaker 14: to settle. We'll find out whether or not we settle
- 22:21Speaker 14: with him or we just finish it off. But I
- 22:23Speaker 14: want to thank Secretary of War Pete hagg Seth. He's
- 22:26Speaker 14: been amazing. Pete, thank you very much.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Great job, great job, Pete.
- 22:34Speaker 14: He's been really amazing. You know, he used to do
- 22:36Speaker 14: interviews only wanted to talk about his war. Sir, would
- 22:40Speaker 14: you give a pardon to nineteen?
- 22:41Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 22:42Speaker 8: Well, mister President, I do love that when you give
- 22:44Speaker 8: a pardon to nineteen people, that's ridiculous.
- 22:47Speaker 1: The Department of War is still a cool name.
- 22:48Speaker 8: I love when Joe Paggs makes jokes about that oven
- 22:52Speaker 8: in the last Yeah, like way to give some praise
- 22:54Speaker 8: out to Pete hagg Seth, who seems to deserve it,
- 22:56Speaker 8: and mainstream media refuses to ever talk about him in
- 22:59Speaker 8: a positive man whatsoever. I think that the SNL people
- 23:05Speaker 8: try to pretend that he's just like a frat bro
- 23:07Speaker 8: that does nothing good at all, But there's been multiple
- 23:10Speaker 8: times where even the things he said publicly seem pretty fantastic.
- 23:14Speaker 8: But yes, the President of the United States is uniquely
- 23:17Speaker 8: paying attention to and trying to demonstrate to Iran that
- 23:20Speaker 8: they have absolutely no leverage, and hopefully this time it
- 23:24Speaker 8: actually is happening. The President did also talk about veterans,
- 23:28Speaker 8: which I thought was interesting. He announced a new initiative
- 23:30Speaker 8: to get illegal alien truck drivers off the roads because,
- 23:36Speaker 8: and this is true, one of the things that eventually
- 23:39Speaker 8: is a catalyst to many of the problems we're facing
- 23:41Speaker 8: and being debated and talked about in our society is
- 23:45Speaker 8: the capability of people to do things here in this
- 23:49Speaker 8: country illegally. That makes more people want to come and
- 23:52Speaker 8: be a part of this country illegally, and you have
- 23:54Speaker 8: to upend that system. So not only did the President
- 23:57Speaker 8: say we're going to do something to prevent people that
- 24:00Speaker 8: don't have a legal right to be driving around in
- 24:01Speaker 8: a car to get a CDL license and get a
- 24:04Speaker 8: job delivering stuff, but we're actually going to find a
- 24:06Speaker 8: way to empower veterans to give them those opportunities. A
- 24:10Speaker 8: lot of people won't be able to say no to
- 24:12Speaker 8: this because of the nice aspect of veterans getting to
- 24:16Speaker 8: benefit from a thing that shouldn't exist to begin with.
- 24:19Speaker 8: People shouldn't be working jobs of that value without the
- 24:23Speaker 8: right to do them. We should follow the law. That's
- 24:27Speaker 8: not a extreme take, and it shouldn't be an extreme
- 24:30Speaker 8: take to anyone.
- 24:31Speaker 3: But here we go today, I'm making one more important announcement.
- 24:34Speaker 3: My administration will soon take historic action to get illegal
- 24:37Speaker 3: alien truck drivers who are just killing a lot of people.
- 24:40Speaker 14: They can't read signs, many of.
- 24:43Speaker 3: Them are on drugs or alcohol, and they shouldn't be
- 24:47Speaker 3: driving these things, and they came in totally illegally. We
- 24:53Speaker 3: don't want them, but they are driving all over American roadways,
- 24:58Speaker 3: and we're going to replace them with the proud American veterans.
- 25:01Speaker 14: We're going to take our veterans who are going to
- 25:03Speaker 14: make them.
- 25:04Speaker 3: We're going to teach him a lot about driving trucks,
- 25:06Speaker 3: and in many cases they know we're going to say
- 25:08Speaker 3: any American who's driven a heavy truck for our military
- 25:11Speaker 3: will automatically be eligible for a commercial drivers.
- 25:14Speaker 1: That's pretty cool too.
- 25:15Speaker 8: I like when they do the thing where they reference
- 25:17Speaker 8: the fact that people have experience from the military. They're
- 25:21Speaker 8: asked to do all kinds of stuff. I actually kind
- 25:23Speaker 8: of uniquely, can we turn the mic down just a
- 25:24Speaker 8: little bit. It's kind of a distorting not a whole lot,
- 25:27Speaker 8: ought like, just a just a little tiny bit.
- 25:29Speaker 1: Anyway.
- 25:30Speaker 8: One of the things that I think is kind of
- 25:32Speaker 8: interesting about this topic is that's so very often there's
- 25:37Speaker 8: so many different aspects where the members of our military
- 25:40Speaker 8: have a profound amount of experience, like an it in
- 25:43Speaker 8: anything that inevitably gets them.
- 25:48Speaker 1: The belief that they should get a lot of jobs.
- 25:51Speaker 8: And I agree with them. I think they should get
- 25:53Speaker 8: a lot of jobs. I think there's a lot of
- 25:55Speaker 8: things that they should do. This is one of those things.
- 25:58Speaker 8: If you drove a humvy during a conflict, you can
- 26:01Speaker 8: drive a truck to a destination and drop off my
- 26:04Speaker 8: desserts for me for Amazon. By the way, I did
- 26:07Speaker 8: order these Drake's cakes that I love that have to
- 26:10Speaker 8: come from the East Coast, and Amazon does it the
- 26:12Speaker 8: second time I've done it now this year, and both times,
- 26:15Speaker 8: when the Missus sees like a giant box of drake
- 26:18Speaker 8: Cakes in the front of our house, she shakes her
- 26:20Speaker 8: head and she likes, she loves me, so she accepts
- 26:23Speaker 8: it and it's a thing that happened. And those go
- 26:25Speaker 8: in the fridge and they last a while and I'd
- 26:27Speaker 8: be very thrilled if a veteran drove and dropped that
- 26:30Speaker 8: off for me and gave me that opportunity to eat
- 26:32Speaker 8: those delicious, delicious snacks. Other things out there in the world,
- 26:37Speaker 8: other conversations that I think I deserve to be talked about.
- 26:41Speaker 8: A senator slam Democrats for avoiding a Senate hearing on
- 26:45Speaker 8: exposing fraud.
- 26:47Speaker 1: I thought this was really good audio.
- 26:49Speaker 8: And what's funny to me is that there's these hot
- 26:53Speaker 8: button issues that we can talk about right now. I
- 26:56Speaker 8: can go on a twenty minute rant with you about
- 26:59Speaker 8: the two three topics the mainstream news media and a
- 27:03Speaker 8: lot of Democrats seem like they want us talking about,
- 27:06Speaker 8: especially if any of those stories wind up furthering their
- 27:10Speaker 8: narrative of something. If the few things that they want
- 27:13Speaker 8: us discussing are things that could potentially benefit them even better.
- 27:17Speaker 8: But the funny thing is there's so much stuff out
- 27:20Speaker 8: there that they willfully ignore. And they do this on
- 27:23Speaker 8: purpose because they absolutely understand that if they don't do this,
- 27:28Speaker 8: if they don't keep pretending as though the things that
- 27:32Speaker 8: you do, the things that I do, the things that
- 27:33Speaker 8: we all do are not important, then they'll lose that
- 27:38Speaker 8: control they have over their side of the political aisle.
- 27:40Speaker 8: Fraud is one of these things.
- 27:42Speaker 1: Fraud is. It's not political.
- 27:45Speaker 8: What I mean by that is like uncovering it, outrooting it,
- 27:48Speaker 8: getting our money back. That's not a bipartisan or that's not,
- 27:52Speaker 8: excuse me, a partisan issue. Both sides should support that,
- 27:56Speaker 8: and all Americans support it. It'd be like me being
- 28:00Speaker 8: be if someone figures out that someone stole money from
- 28:02Speaker 8: my wallet and they give me the money back. We
- 28:04Speaker 8: all feel the same way about this topic. It is
- 28:07Speaker 8: crazy the ways in which Democrats are trying to circumvent
- 28:11Speaker 8: what's going on and how great it is in the
- 28:14Speaker 8: world of fraud. And Nick Shirley did it again. By
- 28:16Speaker 8: the way, Nick Shirley was in New York with doctor
- 28:19Speaker 8: Oz knocking on doors and showing ridiculous amounts of medical
- 28:23Speaker 8: fraud in another very deeply blue state.
- 28:26Speaker 1: But here we go a little bit of.
- 28:28Speaker 8: A senator slamming on a lot of the ridiculous things
- 28:31Speaker 8: that Democrats do.
- 28:32Speaker 4: I think preventing fraud and government should be completely nonpartisan.
- 28:37Speaker 4: It's not a Democrat is your Republican issue. Yet the
- 28:41Speaker 4: entire almost the entirety of the Republican dias has filled
- 28:44Speaker 4: people sitting here listening to the entire hearing, and literally
- 28:46Speaker 4: the entire Democrat dias is empty.
- 28:50Speaker 1: I think that they don't want to be there, frankly disgraced.
- 28:51Speaker 1: They don't want to talk about it.
- 28:52Speaker 4: I think it's a disgrace to the people who pay
- 28:54Speaker 4: taxes to know that there's an entire party that does
- 28:58Speaker 4: not care. Whether it's the taxpayer money is burnt.
- 29:02Speaker 8: They just don't care. And you know, you can go
- 29:04Speaker 8: a step further with that. I'm sure a lot of
- 29:06Speaker 8: your brains already just did they do it on purpose?
- 29:08Speaker 8: Because they're the ones stealing all the money, They're the
- 29:10Speaker 8: ones embezzling at all. They're the ones keeping it all
- 29:12Speaker 8: and it's terrible. Other or my mom, I yes, the
- 29:15Speaker 8: funny bones that is accurate. As far as the Drake
- 29:18Speaker 8: cake that I order, we all love those grown up
- 29:20Speaker 8: in New Jersey, and every once in a while I
- 29:23Speaker 8: can't resist it, Like they're just sitting there on my
- 29:25Speaker 8: Amazon as a previously ordered item and I just I
- 29:28Speaker 8: have to do it. I don't do it a lot,
- 29:30Speaker 8: but I do it occasionally. Anyway, let's get back to
- 29:33Speaker 8: the topic. That was funny as far as this goes.
- 29:36Speaker 8: I love pointing out the obvious that there's such a fear, like, honestly, genuinely,
- 29:42Speaker 8: here's the best way to say it. Before we take
- 29:44Speaker 8: another short break and we come back and we wrap
- 29:47Speaker 8: up this whole a show with a lot of maybe
- 29:50Speaker 8: less serious stuff. I don't know, I will see there's
- 29:52Speaker 8: still a lot of news out there, and we only
- 29:54Speaker 8: get the one hour to talk about it. But the
- 29:56Speaker 8: last thing I'll say before we take a pause of
- 29:59Speaker 8: any kind on all of this kind of ridiculousness of
- 30:03Speaker 8: these discussions that we have is Democrats are terrified that
- 30:09Speaker 8: they'll lose power from one of three different things. There
- 30:13Speaker 8: are three avenues in which Americans overwhelmingly start to vote Republican,
- 30:18Speaker 8: and Republicans win a majority of elections. The first one's
- 30:21Speaker 8: the Save Act, securing our elections. Democrats have said out loud,
- 30:25Speaker 8: I've played audio on this show that they're terrified of
- 30:29Speaker 8: the Save Act because they think it means Democrats will
- 30:32Speaker 8: stop winning elections. And why is that? If all the
- 30:35Speaker 8: Save Act is doing is trying to force only people
- 30:38Speaker 8: who have the right to vote to vote, how do
- 30:40Speaker 8: Democrats know that's already going to cause them to lose
- 30:42Speaker 8: a lot of elections. I ask you that you ask
- 30:44Speaker 8: me that the second of the three things that democrats
- 30:47Speaker 8: are afraid will do is coordinate thought in such a
- 30:51Speaker 8: way on our own through platforms like acts that aren't
- 30:56Speaker 8: as censored as other stuff, is to be better in
- 31:00Speaker 8: they really don't want us well informed. Well informed is
- 31:03Speaker 8: very very bad. It's terrifying to them because well informed
- 31:08Speaker 8: means you can make nuanced decisions and nuanced and you
- 31:11Speaker 8: don't have to always run and retreat into your corner
- 31:14Speaker 8: as sort of a gut reaction or a knee jerk
- 31:17Speaker 8: reaction to something. I understand it because of how crazy
- 31:20Speaker 8: everything is on the other side all the time. You
- 31:23Speaker 8: don't have to do that. If we have better conversation,
- 31:26Speaker 8: more informed discussion, and a willingness to highlight the wins
- 31:31Speaker 8: that exist out there for our country and for our society,
- 31:35Speaker 8: then like let's call that to B is the times
- 31:40Speaker 8: when something great happens and it's the other side of
- 31:42Speaker 8: the aisle and they don't want to admit it, and
- 31:44Speaker 8: if you just admitted it, you'd show that you were
- 31:46Speaker 8: at least willing to be honest.
- 31:48Speaker 1: That would be great.
- 31:49Speaker 8: That's the second thing they're terrified of they're terrified of
- 31:51Speaker 8: honest conversation. And then third, they're terrified of people like Trump.
- 31:55Speaker 8: And what I mean by that is people who can
- 31:57Speaker 8: win the popular vote, people who can demonstrate Spencer Pratt
- 32:01Speaker 8: terrified of that guy in California who probably did win
- 32:06Speaker 8: and then get cheated out of his spot in a
- 32:08Speaker 8: runoff election, because it was no nonsense, it was simplistic.
- 32:12Speaker 8: The idea was, you know, California has done terrible things
- 32:15Speaker 8: with your money and with the city and the state,
- 32:19Speaker 8: and it's not fair to you. It's not fair to me.
- 32:21Speaker 8: And Spencer Pratt was saying, my own house burned down
- 32:24Speaker 8: and that's terrible, and I'd really really like to have
- 32:26Speaker 8: you know, a house again. And these are things that
- 32:29Speaker 8: I can help get done for the country and for
- 32:31Speaker 8: the city and the state. If you elect me a
- 32:35Speaker 8: mayor of Los Angeles, that's something I can do. And
- 32:38Speaker 8: that's no nonsense. That's simplistic. That's like talking about how
- 32:42Speaker 8: inflation is going down and that's good for all of us.
- 32:45Speaker 8: Just very easy, simple things that they are terrified I
- 32:49Speaker 8: will actually land with more people, especially younger voters, just
- 32:53Speaker 8: because they're simply common sense.
- 32:55Speaker 1: So that's it.
- 32:55Speaker 8: Those are the things they're most afraid of when they're
- 32:58Speaker 8: planning all the time to restrict which stories you do,
- 33:01Speaker 8: talk about which ones you don't, and how they inevitably
- 33:03Speaker 8: get just their narrative out there. Right, We'll take one
- 33:06Speaker 8: more break. Kind of a serious show, kind of like
- 33:09Speaker 8: a dreary day.
- 33:10Speaker 1: I don't know why.
- 33:11Speaker 8: I think it's just like, you know, hot and nice outside.
- 33:13Speaker 8: I don't think it's rain and a whole bunch is
- 33:15Speaker 8: rain in the middle of the day. But part of
- 33:17Speaker 8: me is like in that weird kind of funk mood.
- 33:19Speaker 8: I don't know if you are too. I said, we'll
- 33:21Speaker 8: come back, We'll probably hit a little bit of news
- 33:23Speaker 8: and then we'll have some fun on the Voice of Texas.
- 33:26Speaker 1: This is the Greig Collins Show.
- 33:28Speaker 8: KSCV KGBC, the Voice of Texas. I want to let
- 33:32Speaker 8: you know one other programming thing. Tomorrow on this show,
- 33:35Speaker 8: I will be inviting a buddy of mine who I
- 33:37Speaker 8: disagree with on almost everything in politics. I felt like
- 33:41Speaker 8: it's my version of the Judge The Amigos on Friday
- 33:44Speaker 8: do that where they have Senator Bettencourt, they have the
- 33:47Speaker 8: Strew with a view, the smart One as he is
- 33:50Speaker 8: known on social media, and then they have the judge,
- 33:53Speaker 8: Eric Indll, who I do like off air, will make
- 33:56Speaker 8: a bunch of jokes about how he should just leave.
- 33:58Speaker 1: I think he enjoys the show. I think they all
- 34:00Speaker 1: enjoy the show.
- 34:01Speaker 8: I think they obviously disagree on a lot of stuff,
- 34:04Speaker 8: but it's an interesting version of a conversation that if
- 34:07Speaker 8: you don't have a bunch of people calling in that
- 34:09Speaker 8: you like disagree with, you don't get so. I reached
- 34:12Speaker 8: out to a buddy of mine, longtime broadcaster in Chicago
- 34:14Speaker 8: and other places. I was like, Hey, you want to
- 34:17Speaker 8: do this once in a while, once a week whatever,
- 34:20Speaker 8: where we definitely argue about topics. We're not going to
- 34:23Speaker 8: do it just for the sake of argument. We're going
- 34:25Speaker 8: to talk about things and I'm going to tell him
- 34:27Speaker 8: how he's wrong about stuff, and that'll be fun.
- 34:29Speaker 1: That's happening tomorrow.
- 34:30Speaker 8: My friend's name is Brian Noonan, and he will be
- 34:32Speaker 8: on the show playing the role of Eric the judge
- 34:37Speaker 8: a one day before the judge does that for the
- 34:38Speaker 8: amigos and we'll see how it goes. And like I said,
- 34:41Speaker 8: we might do it kind of often on this station
- 34:44Speaker 8: because he likes to talk about stuff. I like to
- 34:46Speaker 8: talk about stuff, and we disagree on a ton of stuff.
- 34:50Speaker 8: Let me play this audio. This is the Daylight Save
- 34:54Speaker 8: daylight saving time or daylight save Time act. I don't
- 34:57Speaker 8: know why it's called that. I hear because it's daylight
- 35:01Speaker 8: saving time. But nonetheless, what I think is really interesting
- 35:04Speaker 8: about this is that there's no reason not to pass it.
- 35:09Speaker 1: It blew through the House. The Senate might pass, it
- 35:12Speaker 1: might not pass it.
- 35:14Speaker 8: Apparently we did this once before for like a year,
- 35:17Speaker 8: where we stayed on daylight saving time, and then we
- 35:20Speaker 8: went back to not having it. A lot of people
- 35:23Speaker 8: thought that maybe more accidents car accident in the morning
- 35:26Speaker 8: were going to happen. Let's not do that again, people,
- 35:29Speaker 8: Let's stick to this.
- 35:29Speaker 1: Let's make this a thing. But I just thought it
- 35:31Speaker 1: was interesting.
- 35:32Speaker 8: Fox talked about it, and the President is pushing for it,
- 35:35Speaker 8: and I couldn't be happier at the idea of it
- 35:37Speaker 8: because it would allow for a lot of reasons, but
- 35:40Speaker 8: it would also allow my radio station to be easier
- 35:42Speaker 8: to hear my radio show, excuse me, to be easier
- 35:44Speaker 8: to hear a year round instead of just part of
- 35:47Speaker 8: the year.
- 35:47Speaker 1: So let's hit play on this.
- 35:48Speaker 5: It is almost on your side. The House passing the
- 35:52Speaker 5: Sunshine Protection Act, which is a bill that would make
- 35:55Speaker 5: daylight saving time permanent and now heads to the Senate,
- 35:59Speaker 5: and if passed, a Maria kids would no longer have
- 36:01Speaker 5: a chance to change their clocks twice a year, but
- 36:04Speaker 5: it would also allow states to opt out. President Trump
- 36:07Speaker 5: has been pushing to get the legislation passed, writing in
- 36:09Speaker 5: May quote, it's time that people can stop worrying about
- 36:13Speaker 5: the clock. We are going with the far more popular
- 36:16Speaker 5: alternative saving daylight, which gives you a longer, brighter day,
- 36:20Speaker 5: and talk can be against that. Now, this is an
- 36:22Speaker 5: easy one.
- 36:23Speaker 8: It is an easy one. They should do it. I
- 36:25Speaker 8: don't know why they won't do it. If they don't,
- 36:27Speaker 8: and if they do, a great I'll be happy about that.
- 36:29Speaker 8: One other last piece of audio in the world of
- 36:31Speaker 8: serious stuff, or at least news and political stuff, and
- 36:35Speaker 8: then we'll do some silly things before we get out
- 36:37Speaker 8: of here. I saw this story, and I think I
- 36:39Speaker 8: even talked about it the other day. But lore Ingram
- 36:42Speaker 8: also noticed it and thought it was ridiculous because it
- 36:46Speaker 8: is CNBC did a report where they ranked the best
- 36:49Speaker 8: and worst states, and you will be completely unsurprised to
- 36:53Speaker 8: know that all of the terrible states were won by
- 36:55Speaker 8: President Trump and all of the really great states, the
- 36:58Speaker 8: blue hell holes is some call them that people are
- 37:00Speaker 8: fleeing from, like Illinois and New York, somehow made it
- 37:04Speaker 8: to the top of the list.
- 37:04Speaker 1: That's kind of crazy. Now check out this recent list.
- 37:07Speaker 15: Six hundred and fifty CEOs were polled and they rated
- 37:10Speaker 15: the best states in which to do business, the top
- 37:13Speaker 15: ten including Texas and Florida, Mnnessee, Georgia, South Carolina a Republican.
- 37:20Speaker 15: They were run by Republicans except Virginia, which is at
- 37:22Speaker 15: number ten. In North Carolina kind of a purple state
- 37:25Speaker 15: at number five. Sure, so money and people resources are
- 37:29Speaker 15: pouring into red states.
- 37:31Speaker 1: Yes, So how did the socialist brush this off?
- 37:34Speaker 15: Well, they do so either by ignoring it or distorting
- 37:36Speaker 15: the data, or the little help from their friends.
- 37:38Speaker 1: This CNBC report just comes out.
- 37:40Speaker 15: They listed the ten worst states to live in for
- 37:43Speaker 15: twenties twenty six. All the states on this list, okay,
- 37:47Speaker 15: Trump won every state.
- 37:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:50Speaker 8: And by the way, for anyone that's not actually watching
- 37:52Speaker 8: on social media and I'm putting up the video, there
- 37:55Speaker 8: the states that are the worst according to CNBC completely
- 37:58Speaker 8: different than the state that these CEOs said were great
- 38:02Speaker 8: but terrible states Tennessee, Texas, Indiana, Louisiana, Georgia, Utah, Missouri, Alabama, Oklahoma,
- 38:09Speaker 8: and Arkansas, so red states. And then if you look
- 38:12Speaker 8: at the really great ones on their list, it was California,
- 38:15Speaker 8: New York, Illinois, a bunch of places that the leaders
- 38:19Speaker 8: of those companies would tell you were absolutely horrible and
- 38:22Speaker 8: terrible places for them to do business. And a lot
- 38:25Speaker 8: of businesses are fleeing and a lot of people are
- 38:27Speaker 8: fleeing all of those states. But it's just kind of
- 38:29Speaker 8: hilarious that somebody somewhere was like, this looks bad. It
- 38:33Speaker 8: looks like some people might keep moving to the places
- 38:36Speaker 8: we don't want them to live, especially taking the money
- 38:39Speaker 8: with them, because New York is learning how bad of
- 38:42Speaker 8: an idea is to crap all over people who have money,
- 38:45Speaker 8: because then the people leave and then you're screwed.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Then you have no other option.
- 38:50Speaker 8: You have nothing else that you can do in that situation,
- 38:53Speaker 8: because you know that's how you were making all your
- 38:56Speaker 8: money to begin with, as the government. But I just
- 38:57Speaker 8: thought that was kind of funny. Some other things out there,
- 39:00Speaker 8: these are definitely lighter things. A mashup of a music
- 39:05Speaker 8: of a couple songs went viral. One of them is
- 39:08Speaker 8: choosing Texas, and I thought that was kind of funny.
- 39:11Speaker 8: Someone mashed it up with that boy is Mine and
- 39:15Speaker 8: people seem to really really like this. You decide if
- 39:18Speaker 8: this is sacrilege or not for choosing Texas to be
- 39:21Speaker 8: squished with a Brandy and Monica song. But I did
- 39:24Speaker 8: at least think this was amusing to listen to.
- 39:26Speaker 1: Here we go.
- 39:26Speaker 13: Excuse me, Can I please talk to you for a minute.
- 39:29Speaker 1: I just want to let you know that he's mine.
- 39:32Speaker 2: No, no, he's.
- 39:34Speaker 9: Mine from Texas sacon tell he's just stepping rail, judging
- 39:44Speaker 9: smile his face. There's nothing I can do. It doesn't
- 39:53Speaker 9: tag a crid Why the cowboy eyes bi Away drinking
- 40:01Speaker 9: Jacob on myself?
- 40:04Speaker 8: These choosing Texas town just yeah, it's kind of almost desperate.
- 40:10Speaker 8: The little Brandy and Monica, that boy's mind clips, they're
- 40:14Speaker 8: being dropped in there.
- 40:15Speaker 1: Most of it is is pretty good, but I do
- 40:17Speaker 1: think a.
- 40:17Speaker 8: Lot of people think this will be sacrilege to shift
- 40:21Speaker 8: these two things together. A mashups go viral a lot.
- 40:24Speaker 8: It's an odd, very digital form of music that is
- 40:28Speaker 8: popular today that doesn't seem like it should be that popular.
- 40:31Speaker 8: I don't mean to crap on mashups entirely, but I will.
- 40:35Speaker 8: It's just a dude with a computer. It's very different
- 40:37Speaker 8: than bands playing songs and writing lyrics and putting it
- 40:40Speaker 8: all together and impressing everybody. It's just a guy putting
- 40:44Speaker 8: stuff together on his you know, programs on his computer
- 40:48Speaker 8: and then pushing it out into the world and it
- 40:50Speaker 8: gets millions and millions of hits. Another story I saw
- 40:53Speaker 8: that I thought was funny. I don't know why we've
- 40:56Speaker 8: been seeing so many of these recently, but like animal
- 40:59Speaker 8: attacks have been in the news, a guy in New
- 41:01Speaker 8: York is recovering after he was attacked by a beaver
- 41:04Speaker 8: while swimming in link. I'm not gonna make any jokes
- 41:06Speaker 8: will simming in lake. George Brandon is the guy's name.
- 41:09Speaker 8: I think his last name is actually his last name
- 41:12Speaker 8: is actually short Sleeve. So Brandon short Sleeve was in
- 41:15Speaker 8: the water with his brother and a friend and that's
- 41:17Speaker 8: when a beaver attacked him. He's gonna be okay. I
- 41:21Speaker 8: think that there's some audio that we can play though
- 41:23Speaker 8: of this conversation.
- 41:24Speaker 11: The first time. My friend ended up picking it up
- 41:26Speaker 11: swam back at him. So we were like, okay, this
- 41:30Speaker 11: is out for blood. This was a puncture, but his
- 41:32Speaker 11: teeth went through my stomach. He said, I attacked him.
- 41:35Speaker 11: I just jumped in the water and then I grabbed
- 41:37Speaker 11: whatever it was attacking him pulled it out. I was
- 41:40Speaker 11: a little freaked out. I didn't like think it was
- 41:41Speaker 11: a beaver at first, you know, I just grabbed this
- 41:43Speaker 11: little brown blob in the water. It ended up biting
- 41:46Speaker 11: me a few times as I got it out of
- 41:48Speaker 11: the water, so I was like, I got to keep
- 41:50Speaker 11: a good grip on this thing. And then I just
- 41:52Speaker 11: tossed him pretty far by the way.
- 41:54Speaker 1: That's probably not easy, oh wet beaver.
- 41:56Speaker 8: That's you know, like being plucked out of the water
- 41:59Speaker 8: that's attacked and somebody and then you chuck it any
- 42:01Speaker 8: direction you can.
- 42:02Speaker 1: Probably chug it.
- 42:03Speaker 8: That's uniquely a difficult time. I do love the fact
- 42:06Speaker 8: that he said, like the thing was attacking the wild
- 42:09Speaker 8: animal was attacking his friend, and so he just kind
- 42:12Speaker 8: of stuck his hands in whatever the blob is.
- 42:14Speaker 1: You yank it out and you throw it.
- 42:16Speaker 8: That's the beginning of a lot of terrifying movies, because
- 42:19Speaker 8: the blob is not just a beaver. The blob is
- 42:21Speaker 8: some crazy like snake monster that you've never seen before,
- 42:25Speaker 8: and then it eats both people like. The thing that's
- 42:27Speaker 8: funny to me is that if they learned any lesson
- 42:29Speaker 8: from Hollywood, and I'm glad they did it, I'm glad
- 42:32Speaker 8: you protect your friend, but it could have gone much
- 42:34Speaker 8: worse than inevitably did. Good that it didn't wind up being,
- 42:38Speaker 8: you know, I don't know, the Locknest monster or something else.
- 42:42Speaker 8: A couple other quick stories before we get out of here,
- 42:44Speaker 8: then I thought were interesting. Another stupid news story. Nevada's
- 42:48Speaker 8: governor dropped his name to avoid a ticket. This went viral.
- 42:52Speaker 8: I have a question about this in general, not even
- 42:55Speaker 8: just specifically with like a politician, but anybody who can
- 43:00Speaker 8: benefit in any way from throwing a name around. But
- 43:03Speaker 8: here's some audio of a body cam of George Lombardo
- 43:08Speaker 8: being like, you really don't want to give me a ticket?
- 43:11Speaker 8: I'm an important person.
- 43:12Speaker 1: He dun Sir Sergeant Chugar Nutchell Police, some reason I'm stapping.
- 43:15Speaker 14: In us for the mart I'm a fully web right violation.
- 43:20Speaker 1: You're right turn onto a battles for you're good to go.
- 43:24Speaker 1: So appreciate you're good to go, Sarah, because you're important.
- 43:28Speaker 1: That's right at the beginning here, Sir Sergeant Chugar Nutchell
- 43:31Speaker 1: Police some reason, I'm stapping in us for the Joe Lombardo,
- 43:34Speaker 1: that's me.
- 43:35Speaker 8: You've heard of me. I'm I'm the governor. Can I
- 43:37Speaker 8: leave now? And then he lets him go. Here's my question.
- 43:40Speaker 8: Even though I hate this, especially in the world of
- 43:43Speaker 8: like elitist politicians of any kind on either side of
- 43:47Speaker 8: the political aisle, I don't like watching them think that
- 43:49Speaker 8: they can do things the rest of us can't do.
- 43:52Speaker 8: If you had a shot to take any sort of
- 43:56Speaker 8: card out of your pocket and say this is a
- 43:57Speaker 8: way for me to get out of this thing that
- 43:59Speaker 8: I'm in trouble before, I think a lot of us
- 44:01Speaker 8: would do it. I don't know if we do it
- 44:03Speaker 8: like this. I don't know if you do it this blatantly,
- 44:06Speaker 8: or you might do it a little bit more apologetically
- 44:08Speaker 8: or just kind of hope it's discovered. But I think
- 44:11Speaker 8: that a lot of people would be you know, would
- 44:15Speaker 8: struggle to not take advantage of those moments. And I
- 44:18Speaker 8: remember something unique about this topic, and it's I don't
- 44:23Speaker 8: I shouldn't probably name the person.
- 44:25Speaker 1: It's a sports guy.
- 44:25Speaker 8: I was doing sports radio in South Bend, Indiana, and
- 44:28Speaker 8: Notre Dame was good because I was in college at
- 44:31Speaker 8: the time and got to cover the team. I didn't
- 44:33Speaker 8: go to Notre Dame. I went to Holy Cross, which
- 44:35Speaker 8: is the Rudy School. But anyway, there was an event
- 44:38Speaker 8: that happened. I think it was one of the USC games,
- 44:41Speaker 8: and like all of the national sports media came into
- 44:43Speaker 8: town and so the press people we line up in
- 44:47Speaker 8: a certain spot for marquee games, or at least we
- 44:50Speaker 8: did at Notre Dame Stadium, and they take a little
- 44:53Speaker 8: while to let you in and they're checking your press
- 44:55Speaker 8: credentials all that kind of stuff, especially for big games
- 44:58Speaker 8: like that, and a couple very fancy high flutin like
- 45:02Speaker 8: national media sports guys showed up and cut the entire
- 45:06Speaker 8: line of other press people and we were living so
- 45:10Speaker 8: many of us were like yelling at these dudes, and
- 45:12Speaker 8: they just didn't care.
- 45:12Speaker 1: They looked at us like we didn't matter.
- 45:14Speaker 8: And the funny thing was the people checking the badges
- 45:18Speaker 8: let them in because they were more famous than the
- 45:20Speaker 8: rest of us.
- 45:21Speaker 1: They did they jumped the line. It was stupid. We
- 45:23Speaker 1: were mad.
- 45:24Speaker 8: We all went to a thing for free in which
- 45:26Speaker 8: Notre Dame wound up losing at the end in a
- 45:28Speaker 8: terrible way. That's the Bush Push, a game for anyone
- 45:31Speaker 8: that actually does care and follow out the world of
- 45:34Speaker 8: college sports and like Notre Dame.
- 45:36Speaker 1: But we all got to go in for free. I
- 45:37Speaker 1: got to eat the same food.
- 45:38Speaker 8: Everything about it was great, but I was annoyed they
- 45:41Speaker 8: tried to take that little advantage that the rest of
- 45:43Speaker 8: us shouldn't take. And yet if it were me and
- 45:46Speaker 8: I could have tried to skip the line. I don't
- 45:49Speaker 8: know how you resist that. I think there's a lot
- 45:51Speaker 8: of people out there, in fact, who don't resist it.
- 45:53Speaker 1: So it is what it is. But I just thought
- 45:55Speaker 1: that was.
- 45:56Speaker 8: Kind of funny too that the Nevada governor was like,
- 45:58Speaker 8: I'm this guy, really, could you just not give me
- 46:01Speaker 8: a ticket? One last thing, one last silly story or
- 46:06Speaker 8: not so serious thing before we get out of here.
- 46:10Speaker 8: Forty used to be middle aged, but now it's not anymore.
- 46:13Speaker 8: According to an article that's on the internet, I am
- 46:16Speaker 8: forty years old. I've talked about it on the show before.
- 46:19Speaker 8: I think MSN was the place that put this out
- 46:22Speaker 8: there even more. But there were some people that were
- 46:26Speaker 8: talking about this in the world of media photographer and
- 46:28Speaker 8: an article written in Harper's Bizarre magazine, forty is now
- 46:33Speaker 8: still thought of as young to some, not to everybody.
- 46:38Speaker 8: Forty Again, you thought that at some point in your
- 46:40Speaker 8: life this was a thing that I don't know, you
- 46:44Speaker 8: felt like you were officially on the wrong side of
- 46:47Speaker 8: the life wheel. But now life expectancy means you're not
- 46:51Speaker 8: many many people live into their late seventies and early eighties,
- 46:54Speaker 8: so forty feels different than it did a certain set
- 46:58Speaker 8: of years ago. I don't know if that's really all
- 47:00Speaker 8: it is, if I'm being honest, because I know there's
- 47:02Speaker 8: a lot of people who would say that forty is
- 47:05Speaker 8: still young and it's not as old as maybe they
- 47:09Speaker 8: felt when they were forty, which is kind of funny
- 47:11Speaker 8: to me. But the thing I think that's actually really
- 47:14Speaker 8: causing this is the delayed things we're doing later in
- 47:17Speaker 8: life now, the buying a house. There's some stuff that
- 47:20Speaker 8: really isn't happening. I had a conversation with somebody in
- 47:23Speaker 8: radio yesterday, like a boss person in radio not here
- 47:27Speaker 8: somewhere else, about the value of a younger listener and
- 47:31Speaker 8: long time. This is a silly thing to end the
- 47:33Speaker 8: show on, but I will for a long time. Our
- 47:35Speaker 8: industry would say, like a twenty something radio listener might
- 47:39Speaker 8: not have the finances of a person that's a little older,
- 47:43Speaker 8: and that person that older is a valuable audience member
- 47:46Speaker 8: even if they're much older than twenty because they do
- 47:50Speaker 8: they have excess money. They have things that they can
- 47:53Speaker 8: spend their hard earned dollars on that maybe a younger
- 47:56Speaker 8: person can't. And I do think that's kind of changed
- 47:59Speaker 8: because a lot of young people are living at home,
- 48:01Speaker 8: skirting some of these expenses, and they wind up having
- 48:04Speaker 8: excess cash that I don't think they save, that I
- 48:06Speaker 8: do think they spend.
- 48:07Speaker 1: So I was kind of pointing that out.
- 48:09Speaker 8: I was like, you know, that feels to me like
- 48:11Speaker 8: a little bit of a dated opinion, just because people
- 48:15Speaker 8: are sitting on those accomplishments in life or those expensive
- 48:20Speaker 8: moves in life for longer for a variety of reasons.
- 48:23Speaker 8: But I just kind of thought that was funny that
