Transcript
- 0:22Speaker 2: Welcome back in to the North Florida Sports Network.
- 0:24Speaker 2: You know what that means.
- 0:27Speaker 2: It's time for Big Time.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Know?
- 0:28Speaker 2: We got Jimmy Reno on both on the line.
- 0:35Speaker 2: I'm on the road on the line.
- 0:39Speaker 2: That's right man.
- 0:40Speaker 2: We just wanted to look ahead.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Your last preview of the game tomorrow at noon Florida State against Syracuse, the middle of the three home game slate in October Big time.
- 0:55Speaker 1: I love it, all these new games.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Yeah, man, Big time.
- 0:59Speaker 2: No.
- 1:00Speaker 2: What's the one thing you're looking forward to the most in this game tomorrow?
- 1:07Speaker 1: I really like to see Jordan Travis absolutely ball out and get back on top of that list for the highs and right there behind the dude from USC.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Oh, you know we had some big time numbers out of him tomorrow running passing everything.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Okay, all right, you know this is the game last year where he had big numbers.
- 1:29Speaker 2: They dominated Syracuse on the road, but two years ago this was a dogfight and Syracuse we were lucky to be in a dogfight two years ago.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, shrader's going to be their quarterback.
- 1:44Speaker 2: They're coming off two straight losses, four and two in the year, oh and two in the ACC.
- 1:50Speaker 1: They beat anybody worth a shit.
- 1:52Speaker 2: They beat, they were, they beat Purdue at Purdue.
- 1:56Speaker 1: That's not too bad.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Yeah, they are respectable.
- 2:01Speaker 3: They had a much healthier team for that game.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Right.
- 2:05Speaker 3: They've been beat up the last two weeks.
- 2:07Speaker 3: Yeah, they're limping into this one.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Right, they have a.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Their bi-week is after this game and then their schedule gets a lot easier.
- 2:16Speaker 1: But that home, so we really shouldn't have to worry about it.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Boston college type situation.
- 2:21Speaker 2: The spread is 17 and a half.
- 2:23Speaker 2: You have a score prediction, yeah.
- 2:27Speaker 1: I'll go 54, 24.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Wow, that's definitely Big time numbers Over.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Out of the covering and the over.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Big time numbers.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Yeah, he's going to need big time numbers to get back into Heisman race.
- 2:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't, I don't see it happen.
- 2:46Speaker 2: I don't either I, but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing.
- 2:49Speaker 1: It could easily happen.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Heisman is a second half of the season.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Where have you done for him lately?
- 2:54Speaker 1: Type of award.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Yeah, he's not into running right now, first half of the season that doesn't mean he can't easily.
- 3:00Speaker 1: I think you're going to just.
- 3:03Speaker 3: You're going to see more of the same though.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Yeah, I think you're just going to see more of the same from from Travis.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Yeah, he might have another game where he throws three or four touchdowns, but Well, I don't know if you recall last season, but his second half of the season was lights out compared to his first half.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Yeah, it was.
- 3:21Speaker 3: It wasn't anywhere near what's going to get him back to the top of the list.
- 3:25Speaker 3: You got to look at who else is in the race too.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Yeah, they don't like to give it to the same guy twice.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Only happened once.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Do you know who?
- 3:33Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, it was.
- 3:34Speaker 3: Archie Griffin.
- 3:35Speaker 3: But it's you know, caleb Williams, they're going to have to go undefeated for you.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Yeah, for him to yeah.
- 3:43Speaker 3: But you look at a guy like Bo Nicks or the quarterback of Washington, pinox, and their entire offense is reliant on those two QBs.
- 3:50Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, jordan Travis has a lot more weapons at his disposal in terms within the running game than both of those QBs.
- 3:57Speaker 3: I just I think they're going to try to keep the offense as balanced as you've seen it.
- 4:02Speaker 3: I mean, you know, if you get some injuries and he's got to start slinging it 40 times a game, then you can see him start piling up some touchdowns, piling up stats.
- 4:12Speaker 1: But right now I don't think it's about the amount of attempts.
- 4:16Speaker 3: No, that's true, I mean, but gotta be more efficient.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Yeah, he's gonna have to be, yes, more efficient, for sure.
- 4:25Speaker 3: I mean you.
- 4:25Speaker 3: You thought you'd have to average about four and a half touchdowns per game agreed.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Or or maybe like five against Duke, five against Miami, five against Florida, the three prime time games we have.
- 4:39Speaker 1: You know, I'm saying yeah, anything's possible.
- 4:42Speaker 2: They may be like three or four against the rest I Just, I think what Jimmy says correct I don't think it's a bad thing.
- 4:48Speaker 2: I think it's a good thing is.
- 4:51Speaker 1: I agree entirely.
- 4:52Speaker 1: I just want that for him, so bad.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Out of me really.
- 5:00Speaker 2: All right, all right.
- 5:01Speaker 2: So big numbers out of Jay Trav this Saturday.
- 5:04Speaker 2: The line is 17 and a half, which was less than the one for Virginia Tech.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Like to see the defense Continue to improve.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Don't let this guy Run up.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Don't let the quarterback run on you, because the quarterback can't do that.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Just the good second half side of the D.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Yeah the last time he was in Doe Campbell he ran all over the place right over on your yard.
- 5:27Speaker 1: We could not get him off the field.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I hate playing mobile quarterback.
- 5:33Speaker 3: But he's a little bit less mobile now.
- 5:35Speaker 3: I mean he's, he's two years older, he's closer to 30.
- 5:38Speaker 3: You know, that's when stuff starts breaking down.
- 5:41Speaker 3: Man, it did.
- 5:41Speaker 3: I don't.
- 5:43Speaker 3: There shouldn't be any reason they don't cover.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Okay.
- 5:47Speaker 1: So here's the thing Jordan Travis plays lights out today and then really shows up in that prime time spot against Duke Next Saturday, then he's right back, right back there in the mix.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Possibly, maybe I did the mix baby.
- 6:05Speaker 3: I mean you're gonna whoever comes out of this weekend in the Oregon and Washington game, the winner is, it's gonna be one be right behind Caleb Williams, unless they go to South Bend and get beat, and then you could see Caleb Williams Just fall off completely.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, I'm gonna Sevilla.
- 6:25Speaker 2: We didn't.
- 6:26Speaker 2: So what, who's got?
- 6:30Speaker 2: Jordan Travis is right around, he is.
- 6:33Speaker 2: He's got.
- 6:33Speaker 2: He's around six in some rankings I'm seeing.
- 6:36Speaker 2: So that's not bad.
- 6:37Speaker 2: You got guys like Dylan Gabriel to.
- 6:40Speaker 1: they're going to be there.
- 6:41Speaker 1: That Drake may coming into the season he was like top three.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah I mean, but there's no there.
- 6:48Speaker 1: And we're on the feed.
- 6:49Speaker 1: If we're on the feed going into Florida you're going to have a chair in New York.
- 6:55Speaker 2: If you ask Joe Clatt, he has Caleb Williams at number one, followed by Michael Penix at Washington, and then he has Drake may at North Carolina, dylan Gabriel at four, then bow Nix at five and Travis at six.
- 7:15Speaker 2: So I mean, you're right, it's possible, man.
- 7:17Speaker 3: I would have Gabriel, higher man Like yeah, Drake may hasn't played anybody.
- 7:21Speaker 3: Right, I get it.
- 7:23Speaker 3: He's got the stats, but they haven't played the stats.
- 7:26Speaker 3: He does have the stats and Travis have the best wins out of any you know what could happen.
- 7:32Speaker 2: You could have a showdown.
- 7:33Speaker 2: You could have a showdown in Charlotte.
- 7:35Speaker 2: You could have a Heisman hopeful showdown.
- 7:38Speaker 2: If you had a matchup between undefeated North Carolina and Drake may versus an undefeated Jordan Travis in Florida State, the winner of that game could catapult themselves into the highs.
- 7:50Speaker 2: No, they know it's after, it's after the conference championships.
- 7:57Speaker 2: No, they factor the conference championships in.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that would be.
- 8:05Speaker 3: We'll see what.
- 8:05Speaker 3: We'll see what Drake may is looking like after they lose to Miami this week.
- 8:10Speaker 1: I don't want that.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Dave, what did you think of Miami game?
- 8:15Speaker 2: Big time no man.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Yeah, and I heard it.
- 8:21Speaker 1: I was like no way.
- 8:23Speaker 1: And Uncle Robert's telling me all about it.
- 8:26Speaker 1: I was like get out of here.
- 8:28Speaker 2: I know it was hard.
- 8:29Speaker 1: I could not stop laughing.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Yeah, we had a crazy one last night in the Houston, West Virginia.
- 8:37Speaker 2: The Dana Hager symbol.
- 8:39Speaker 3: Yeah, that was I feel I feel for the couches in the state of West Virginia.
- 8:44Speaker 3: That quarterback was from Tallahassee to lose on a Hail Mary after you've essentially won it on a Hail Mary.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:51Speaker 3: It's crazy.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Yeah, but yeah that did.
- 8:56Speaker 2: You should watch it.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Houston West Virginia yeah, Houston West Virginia, but it still won't go down like anything, like the Miami loss, because that was the coach just taking a play.
- 9:07Speaker 2: I know, I know, I know I don't know, I know.
- 9:13Speaker 1: They're going to run out of town this year.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Well, yeah, yeah.
- 9:18Speaker 1: We're the worst fan base in the nation.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Shit, make it a world.
- 9:22Speaker 2: We'll see All right.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Well, 54, 24 is the score from big time, no.
- 9:32Speaker 1: I mean so our audience about our pit?
- 9:36Speaker 2: Oh, oh, yeah, we're, uh, yeah, we're going to pitch it's taking over Pittsburgh.
- 9:41Speaker 2: We're going to Pittsburgh, so get ready, wait for that, I'll be there.
- 9:47Speaker 2: I'll be there.
- 9:48Speaker 1: The booster party tonight, before it gets off.
- 9:51Speaker 2: All right, man, I can't wait.
- 9:52Speaker 2: That's going to be a fun trip I, I it's one of the spots I need to get to in the conference especially when, uh, especially for uh we get out of the ACC and in the SEC.
- 10:08Speaker 2: I got to get up all these spots, man Well.
- 10:10Speaker 1: I never, never forget that was James's debut.
- 10:13Speaker 2: That was 10 years ago.
- 10:16Speaker 1: They have near pitched a perfect game this Saturday at noon.
- 10:20Speaker 1: They're going to be exactly 10 years ago.
- 10:23Speaker 2: They'll be honoring the national champ 93 national championship team.
- 10:27Speaker 2: No, no, we'll honor them there at pit yeah.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Jordan Travis will honor the Heisman there.
- 10:36Speaker 2: So that would be a good game.
- 10:37Speaker 2: All right, all right, big time.
- 10:40Speaker 2: No, I appreciate you coming on and we'll talk to you again next week.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Good luck.
- 10:45Speaker 2: All right, Thanks to big time.
- 10:51Speaker 2: No man.
- 10:51Speaker 2: What do you think about that?
- 10:53Speaker 2: I know we had talked about Jordan Travis.
- 10:57Speaker 3: I mean I'd love to see it.
- 10:59Speaker 3: I would love to see it.
- 11:00Speaker 3: It's definitely doable.
- 11:01Speaker 3: You got what?
- 11:03Speaker 3: Three or four of the next games should be teams that you can.
- 11:07Speaker 2: He's right about the prime time.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Yeah, if you do it at night, if he does it at night and plays efficiently, you're right.
- 11:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it can happen and if the narrative around Florida State starts to change a little bit, because right now everybody is looking at Florida State like they're a pretender yeah, you know like they're scooting by and being yeah.
- 11:29Speaker 3: So all of that's going to have to change.
- 11:31Speaker 3: But I mean, you keep winning football games you keep winning.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Man yeah, Every week.
- 11:36Speaker 3: Everything will figure itself out.
- 11:38Speaker 2: I mean, you look at this guy.
- 11:39Speaker 3: I would love, I would love to see Jordan Travis start just piling up stats.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Right.
- 11:45Speaker 3: I just think there's going to be too much of a commitment to the run game.
- 11:48Speaker 2: But if they went out?
- 11:49Speaker 2: If they went out, I think he's going to be in New York.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, cause then a couple of those guys ahead of them are going to, you know yeah, cause a couple of guys will take losses.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Just take care of business.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Keep winning.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Yeah, that's it.
- 12:04Speaker 2: It all take care of itself.
- 12:05Speaker 2: All right, jimmy Reno man, thanks for coming on.
- 12:10Speaker 2: What do you got?
- 12:11Speaker 2: What do you think of 5424?
- 12:13Speaker 2: What do you think of that?
- 12:15Speaker 3: I like it, man, I like.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Like I said there's really I'm going to be really disappointed if Florida State doesn't cover.
- 12:20Speaker 3: Right, this needs to be an explosion.
- 12:23Speaker 2: There needs to be a breakout party.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Yeah, an offensive explosion.
- 12:27Speaker 3: There needs to be one.
- 12:28Speaker 3: This is the week to have it happen.
- 12:30Speaker 2: You got the 93 team coming back.
- 12:32Speaker 2: You need to show out.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Show them what's up.
- 12:36Speaker 3: You got the youngest roster for Syracuse in the conference.
- 12:40Speaker 3: They're beat up.
- 12:41Speaker 2: Yep.
- 12:42Speaker 3: I know they run the 335, but come on, man, we've seen it enough.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Now they have the guy that started it.
- 12:48Speaker 3: Yeah, the guy that started it.
- 12:50Speaker 3: So you should have about 40 years of tape to go back and see what he does.
- 12:54Speaker 3: All right so.
- 12:56Speaker 2: All right, jamie man, safe travels to you and we'll talk to you after the game.
- 13:00Speaker 3: Yes, sir, go NOLs All right.
- 13:04Speaker 1: We had to go.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Well, we got to get on out of here.
- 13:09Speaker 2: One of the things big time Noel Jason and Jimmy Reno.
- 13:12Speaker 2: They're coming on on a Friday.
- 13:15Speaker 2: I'm going to show you a quick look.
- 13:17Speaker 2: The high noon showdown against Syracuse.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Talking a little high as men talk, Just keep stacking wins.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Don't turn the ball over.
- 13:30Speaker 2: See one of those big games?
- 13:37Speaker 2: Give a stat power game coming up, but don't play for stats, man, Take what the defense gives you.
- 13:43Speaker 2: I'm done with baseball For this season.
- 13:52Speaker 2: Braves they got beat again by the Phillies.
- 13:55Speaker 2: You know it's 30 years ago they got beat again the first time in playoffs by the Phillies.
- 14:05Speaker 2: But the last two years Braves been eliminated by the Phillies.
- 14:10Speaker 2: It's 0 for 3 against the Phillies in the playoffs for the Braves.
- 14:14Speaker 2: Did you see all the teams, the only win with the teams with the best, the five teams with the best record in baseball.
- 14:27Speaker 2: It was one win in the playoffs.
- 14:29Speaker 2: It was by the Braves in game two.
- 14:32Speaker 2: They were lucky to get that.
- 14:34Speaker 2: One problem I don't know, man.
- 14:37Speaker 2: I don't know about this buy having a buy in baseball.
- 14:42Speaker 2: I don't think it's in every 162 games.
- 14:45Speaker 2: We got two teams in Texas on the American League.
- 14:55Speaker 2: The Rangers and Astros play in the NLCS and then the Diamondbacks and the Phillies play in the NLCS.
- 15:02Speaker 2: I'm not really excited about it at all.
- 15:05Speaker 2: We'll see if Miami can get the upset in Chapel Hill.
- 15:16Speaker 2: I don't think so.
- 15:17Speaker 2: We'll see if Oregon can beat Washington on the road and who will prevail in the Pac-12?
- 15:27Speaker 2: A lot of big games.
- 15:29Speaker 2: We'll watch them all and we'll react to them all Right here on the North Florida Sports Network.
- 15:47Speaker 1: We had to go.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Our ride was here.
- 15:49Speaker 1: We'll see you in the next video.
