- 0:29Speaker 3: Speaking of current, Hi, Mercedes, how are you?
- 0:34Speaker 1: How are you great?
- 0:35Speaker 4: I'm good? How are you?
- 0:38Speaker 3: I'm so excited that we actually get to like poach
- 0:41Speaker 3: almost famous because we never get to talk to like current,
- 0:45Speaker 3: as we just said, And I just loved you on
- 0:48Speaker 3: Bachelor in Paradise and you Bachelor, but I love your
- 0:53Speaker 3: sparkly positive energy and just want to thank you for
- 0:58Speaker 3: coming on the show.
- 0:59Speaker 4: Yeah, thank you for having me. I'm so excited.
- 1:02Speaker 3: So I assume, Bob, I don't think that Bob watched.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Is this true? Bob?
- 1:07Speaker 2: It is true. I did not watch. However, I do
- 1:09Speaker 2: know who Mercedes is. There's some standouts right from every season,
- 1:15Speaker 2: and so right when I saw your face, I'm like, hey,
- 1:17Speaker 2: wait a second, I know who she is. So yes,
- 1:21Speaker 2: very you're a very refreshing person to see on the screen.
- 1:25Speaker 2: So thank you for joining us and thanks for being
- 1:26Speaker 2: on the show. So yeah, I'm excited to get to
- 1:29Speaker 2: interview you as well. So even though I didn't actually
- 1:31Speaker 2: get to see all the antics from the season, I
- 1:34Speaker 2: know some of the scow so I'm excited.
- 1:37Speaker 3: He's always in the know, he does his homework.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Producers do a bang up job, they sure do.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Actually, Okay, so how is life after Paradise? Are you in?
- 1:53Speaker 3: Are you in Nashville or Iowa? Or where are you now?
- 1:56Speaker 3: And how is life?
- 1:58Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:58Speaker 5: So I came back to nash Well, I've been in
- 2:00Speaker 5: Nashville for five years now. Yes, I absolutely love it here.
- 2:05Speaker 5: It's such a fun city. As a young adult, I
- 2:08Speaker 5: am kind of thinking about moving to San Diego. I
- 2:11Speaker 5: know a lot of people do that after they go
- 2:14Speaker 5: on the show, but I have a few friends that
- 2:16Speaker 5: are going out there. So that's kind of the plan
- 2:19Speaker 5: right now. Just job searching and trying to figure it out.
- 2:23Speaker 3: Amazing, Are you become the hot San Diego?
- 2:25Speaker 1: Become the hot spot? Is that where everyone goes after that? Yeah?
- 2:32Speaker 1: That's interesting because you remember Trista back in the day.
- 2:35Speaker 2: I mean when we did the show, it was like
- 2:36Speaker 2: everybody you know, like just immediately took off to be
- 2:40Speaker 2: the new ben Affleck and Trista and I didn't.
- 2:43Speaker 1: We stayed.
- 2:43Speaker 2: We kept to our we stuck to our guns. We
- 2:45Speaker 2: stayed local. You know where you buy that. Well, I'm
- 2:49Speaker 2: back in Michigan, which is where I grew up, but
- 2:51Speaker 2: I ended up I went to Manhattan first and then
- 2:54Speaker 2: and I ended up in LA. But it took me
- 2:56Speaker 2: a while to get there. But Nashville is where I
- 2:58Speaker 2: would have always wanted to go.
- 2:59Speaker 5: I love, yeah, and you know what a lot of
- 3:02Speaker 5: there's a lot of Bachelor Nation here and I feel
- 3:04Speaker 5: like a lot of people from California are moving here.
- 3:07Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah, there's so many California people here.
- 3:11Speaker 2: San Diego is awesome too, though. I love It's one
- 3:13Speaker 2: of my favorite areas of California.
- 3:15Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure, it's. And it's I feel like it's
- 3:18Speaker 3: close enough to La where you guys, you could be
- 3:20Speaker 3: a part of anything that comes up, and then it's
- 3:23Speaker 3: far away where you can actually like get away from
- 3:27Speaker 3: it all or when. Yeah. Okay, so are you dating currently?
- 3:34Speaker 1: Nope?
- 3:35Speaker 5: Not dating, definitely keeping my options open. I went into
- 3:38Speaker 5: twenty twenty four being like, Okay, I'm not going to
- 3:41Speaker 5: like force anything or like look really and if it
- 3:44Speaker 5: comes to me, it comes to me. But right now,
- 3:47Speaker 5: I'm just really doing like a lot of like self
- 3:49Speaker 5: work and trying to be like the best person I
- 3:51Speaker 5: can be because I want to be that for my
- 3:53Speaker 5: partner when they decide to come around.
- 3:55Speaker 4: So yeah, for me right now.
- 3:58Speaker 3: So I when I watched Bachelor in Paradise, the thing
- 4:04Speaker 3: that stood out to me about your story is the
- 4:08Speaker 3: end with Tyler and how he like, I mean, I'm
- 4:13Speaker 3: sitting there watching the show, yelling at my phone or
- 4:15Speaker 3: television whatever I'm watching on because he was like, you know,
- 4:19Speaker 3: the spark it was just wasn't there. And I'm like,
- 4:22Speaker 3: didn't he literally, like literally tell her that you guys
- 4:28Speaker 3: had sparks on the first date. I was like literally,
- 4:31Speaker 3: And so I went back today and I just googled Mercedes, which,
- 4:34Speaker 3: of course lots of cars come up, but I googled,
- 4:38Speaker 3: and then I googled your last name and I watched
- 4:41Speaker 3: and I was like, that's exactly what he said on
- 4:43Speaker 3: your first date. He said there was all these signs
- 4:47Speaker 3: and there were sparks, and then he's like breaking up
- 4:50Speaker 3: with you and saying he couldn't find a spark, Like,
- 4:52Speaker 3: how did you feel about that? Yeah, it definitely I
- 4:56Speaker 3: felt like I kind of knew it was coming.
- 4:58Speaker 4: I felt like we were both we.
- 5:01Speaker 5: Liked each other, but it was neither one of us
- 5:03Speaker 5: were really like trying to take it a step further,
- 5:06Speaker 5: Like we were just like almost comfortable, you know, Like
- 5:09Speaker 5: I feel like our first date, it was amazing and
- 5:12Speaker 5: we both agreed that like there was definitely something there.
- 5:15Speaker 4: But then I felt like after we had that high,
- 5:18Speaker 4: it just kind of like puts out, you know. So
- 5:22Speaker 4: it definitely caught.
- 5:23Speaker 5: Me for a surprise when he said no spark, I
- 5:25Speaker 5: was like, what do you mean those spark Like what, like,
- 5:29Speaker 5: that's like a relationship, you have to have a spark,
- 5:31Speaker 5: Like what are you talking about. Yes, So definitely when
- 5:34Speaker 5: he said that, I was like taken aback. But I
- 5:38Speaker 5: also think that at the end of the day, we
- 5:41Speaker 5: just weren't. We're better as friends, and I love Tyler.
- 5:44Speaker 5: I think he's great. I'm really happy for him. He's
- 5:46Speaker 5: in a relationship and everything. Wish absolutely nothing but the
- 5:49Speaker 5: best for him. I think at the end of the day,
- 5:52Speaker 5: we just knew that we were better off friends, and
- 5:54Speaker 5: unfortunately you know, we were in front of cameras and
- 5:56Speaker 5: all that, so it was kind of like four and
- 6:00Speaker 5: so I feel like we were trying to make it work,
- 6:04Speaker 5: when in reality we kind of both knew that it like,
- 6:06Speaker 5: wasn't it you.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Know, Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's a great outlook and a
- 6:10Speaker 3: great way to look at things. You know, all relationship
- 6:13Speaker 3: ships are not going to work out, and I think
- 6:15Speaker 3: if you have that kind of attitude, then you're going
- 6:18Speaker 3: to be just fine.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Yes, I feel like when someone's using the same words.
- 6:22Speaker 2: I feel like when someone's using the same words like
- 6:23Speaker 2: spark too much, that that's a producer in their air going,
- 6:27Speaker 2: you know, because he obviously didn't realize that. He said,
- 6:29Speaker 2: oh my god, I feel such a spark, right, and
- 6:31Speaker 2: then to be like, I'm just not feeling sparks.
- 6:33Speaker 1: It's like, you know, no one uses that.
- 6:36Speaker 4: I know they did, like in the show and they
- 6:38Speaker 4: did the little flashback. I was like, oh, that's not.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Yeah, that's not going to age. Well, you know, that's
- 6:45Speaker 1: going to come back and bite. You know.
- 6:48Speaker 2: It's like, I feel such great chemistry and then at
- 6:50Speaker 2: the end you're like, I don't feel any chemistry.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, this is not going to age.
- 6:55Speaker 3: Should be I should be more in the know and
- 6:58Speaker 3: realize that there probably is a producer behind all that.
- 7:01Speaker 3: But I was like, dude, you literally told her that
- 7:04Speaker 3: there were sparks on your first date, and then you
- 7:06Speaker 3: told her there weren't any, Like.
- 7:07Speaker 4: I don't know that it was great.
- 7:10Speaker 3: So I know that you've got your girl gang from
- 7:13Speaker 3: Bachelor of Paradise, So tell me about the trip, like,
- 7:16Speaker 3: and I love that you guys are still getting together,
- 7:19Speaker 3: especially like I know, Bob, you probably still are mad
- 7:24Speaker 3: about not being able to go to the Cold.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm a little I'm a little hurt. A little
- 7:31Speaker 1: hurt Gary and I are going to talk me.
- 7:34Speaker 4: Too, a mean on that call.
- 7:36Speaker 6: I don't know either, I know, so I have I
- 7:41Speaker 6: you know, between that, between that and being left off
- 7:46Speaker 6: the shortlist for the Easties, I'm just so ass chapped
- 7:49Speaker 6: over here.
- 7:50Speaker 3: I'm sorry. I'm sorry. So so I've told Bennett and
- 7:56Speaker 3: other producers and execs like we need to have a
- 8:00Speaker 3: massive reunion with like everybody because the show is like
- 8:05Speaker 3: what I've I used to explain it as like a
- 8:08Speaker 3: you know, a dysfunctional kind of crazy family, but I've
- 8:11Speaker 3: come to realize that it's more like a Greek po
- 8:16Speaker 3: ed Greek group, like a fraternity sorority combined with girls
- 8:20Speaker 3: and guys where we're like we're like family, but you know,
- 8:26Speaker 3: not really and you like some people and you don't
- 8:28Speaker 3: like some people, and you love some people like their family.
- 8:31Speaker 3: So I love that you have found your crew.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Who did you walk.
- 8:36Speaker 3: Yeah, your tribe? Who did you walk away with the
- 8:38Speaker 3: closest relationships, I would.
- 8:41Speaker 5: Say out of Bachelor, I was definitely closest with Katie
- 8:47Speaker 5: and Kylie. Those were like my two girls that I
- 8:49Speaker 5: went to for everything, Me and Kylie when we started traveling,
- 8:53Speaker 5: we were roommates, so awesome. Yeah, And so when you travel,
- 8:59Speaker 5: you know, you know you are always Mike. Do you
- 9:01Speaker 5: have some like downtime where you can, like, you know,
- 9:04Speaker 5: just just chill out and like be able to talk
- 9:07Speaker 5: to them And so it was like me and her
- 9:08Speaker 5: got really really close because we were having that time together.
- 9:12Speaker 5: So definitely, out of Bachelor, I was definitely closest to
- 9:15Speaker 5: probably Kylie and Katie, and then obviously once everything ended,
- 9:21Speaker 5: we all hung out and then relationships like continued building.
- 9:25Speaker 5: But I'm really close with like Jess, kat Kylie, obviously Katie, Gabby,
- 9:32Speaker 5: Ariel the whole group, Davia, we have a whole clan.
- 9:36Speaker 5: I love it so much. It's awesome.
- 9:38Speaker 3: I love that. I know you're super close with Kylie.
- 9:41Speaker 3: As you just said, how is she doing with the breakup.
- 9:46Speaker 5: I think she's doing the best that she can, obviously,
- 9:50Speaker 5: like that news is horrible to receive on both ends,
- 9:55Speaker 5: Like it's just it was horrible, and so I think
- 9:58Speaker 5: that she's doing her best. And I know that she's
- 10:00Speaker 5: working on healing herself. And I know she just went
- 10:04Speaker 5: on like Nick Biel too. So I know you guys
- 10:06Speaker 5: will hear her from her soon about her side, which
- 10:09Speaker 5: I'm really excited for her to put out and just
- 10:12Speaker 5: let the world know what happened.
- 10:13Speaker 3: Yeah, and for Bob, I he cheated on her, right,
- 10:18Speaker 3: she found out that he cheated on her. Yeah, that's
- 10:22Speaker 3: never never good.
- 10:23Speaker 1: No, that's a bummer.
- 10:25Speaker 3: Yeah, it's pretty simple.
- 10:26Speaker 2: I feel like in circumstances, it's like break up first,
- 10:29Speaker 2: if that's what you feel like doing, right, I mean,
- 10:31Speaker 2: honest to god, I used to always say it. I'd
- 10:33Speaker 2: be like, give me a favor, like don't in a relationship,
- 10:35Speaker 2: like don't just.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Don't let the joke be on me.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Yeah, if you're gonna do it, you can call it
- 10:41Speaker 2: and be like, hey, we're done, and then do whatever
- 10:43Speaker 2: we'll do. At least then I'll be like, oh, you
- 10:45Speaker 2: know what they did me the service, you know. I
- 10:48Speaker 2: mean I might not have saw the text. I might
- 10:50Speaker 2: not have seen it, but you know, yeah, that sucks.
- 10:53Speaker 1: I'm sorry to hear that.
- 10:54Speaker 3: Especially in the public eye. You know, that's what I was.
- 10:57Speaker 5: That's like the worst part is like obviously he fed up,
- 11:01Speaker 5: because cheating is never okay, But it also suck that
- 11:05Speaker 5: she had won. She had to find out from random
- 11:08Speaker 5: people like telling me she did.
- 11:12Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, but.
- 11:14Speaker 5: And then she It's also like sad for him too,
- 11:18Speaker 5: like obviously he's the one that screwed up, but he
- 11:20Speaker 5: was getting so much hate too, so like I.
- 11:22Speaker 4: Feel remorse for him almost kind of because he's just
- 11:26Speaker 4: going through you.
- 11:27Speaker 5: It's just a crappy situation all around, and I feel
- 11:30Speaker 5: for both of them. Obviously, do not think what he
- 11:33Speaker 5: did was okay at all. And like Tom leaves my girl,
- 11:36Speaker 5: like I write at Dawn for her, you know, like
- 11:38Speaker 5: he I would do anything for that girl, and I
- 11:42Speaker 5: just yeah, she's working on herself and doing better every day,
- 11:45Speaker 5: so she's grown a lot from it.
- 11:46Speaker 2: As as a super old married dude, I will I
- 11:49Speaker 2: will send along some advice for her, let.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Her know that it's about her.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Yeah, right, Like him doing that is is a complete
- 11:57Speaker 2: reflection of him. So you know, at the end of
- 12:01Speaker 2: the day, whatever he did in that moment, it had
- 12:04Speaker 2: a thing to do with her. It had to do
- 12:06Speaker 2: with him, with hints, insecurities, with something that he has
- 12:09Speaker 2: going on in here and up here that made him
- 12:12Speaker 2: feel like he had to be a comple jackass. So
- 12:15Speaker 2: you know, I mean, speaking as a guy who's made
- 12:18Speaker 2: a billion mistakes in my life, I can say that
- 12:20Speaker 2: it was never about the person or anyone else. It
- 12:23Speaker 2: was always about me. And so I can say that
- 12:25Speaker 2: from that perspective that I guarantee you that guy is
- 12:27Speaker 2: kicking himself right now. I mean, the five minutes of
- 12:30Speaker 2: pleasure was not worth the relationship and the hate that
- 12:34Speaker 2: he's received ever since then, because you know, it's one
- 12:37Speaker 2: of those things you do not forget, you know. They
- 12:40Speaker 2: Tristan and I have both been so fortunate that people
- 12:42Speaker 2: have loved us so for you know, and I'm thankful
- 12:45Speaker 2: for that they you know, but the people that were
- 12:49Speaker 2: considered villains at that time.
- 12:51Speaker 4: They know.
- 12:51Speaker 1: People don't forget that part either.
- 12:53Speaker 2: I mean I still have people approach me and be
- 12:54Speaker 2: like what about this guy, And I gotta be like, no,
- 12:56Speaker 2: he's not a bad guy, you know, but it's it's
- 12:59Speaker 2: one of those things. So you know, I feel bad,
- 13:01Speaker 2: I feel remorse for that guy.
- 13:02Speaker 1: I feel bad for that guy. But yeah, that's all
- 13:04Speaker 1: about him. So make sure she knows that.
- 13:06Speaker 4: Yeah, I definitely will.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Okay.
- 13:17Speaker 3: So speaking of villains that Bob like brought up, Braden
- 13:21Speaker 3: was kind of a villain before Bachelor in Paradise and
- 13:23Speaker 3: he kind of redeemed himself. What what are your feelings
- 13:26Speaker 3: about his proposal and his relationship with Christina.
- 13:32Speaker 5: Yeah, Honestly, when I heard that they were together, I
- 13:35Speaker 5: was like what It's crazy what I was like, there's
- 13:41Speaker 5: like I'm so confused all this what about you know,
- 13:45Speaker 5: Christina has a little girl. And at first I was like,
- 13:48Speaker 5: oh my gosh, Braden is like so young and like
- 13:51Speaker 5: that's like a lot to take on, you know, And
- 13:53Speaker 5: I was like ready and then I like step back,
- 13:57Speaker 5: And that's exactly how my parents were. Like I met
- 14:01Speaker 5: my dad with when I was I think I was
- 14:04Speaker 5: like seven and he ended up adopting me, and so
- 14:07Speaker 5: I was like, Okay, if Brayden is like that person
- 14:10Speaker 5: for her, like, I support it one hundred percent.
- 14:13Speaker 4: They seemed so happy and like, yeah, I just want
- 14:17Speaker 4: the best for them. I was so shocked when he
- 14:19Speaker 4: proposed to her, though. I was like, oh my gosh, what.
- 14:24Speaker 3: Were you watching live?
- 14:25Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 14:26Speaker 4: Yeah, well I was.
- 14:27Speaker 5: Actually I was in the other room. I forget what
- 14:29Speaker 5: I was doing, and my friend was watching it. She
- 14:31Speaker 5: started screaming, Oh no way.
- 14:34Speaker 1: I was like, what happened?
- 14:35Speaker 4: Something was wrong. I didn't even think it was the show,
- 14:37Speaker 4: and she's like, they just got a game.
- 14:40Speaker 3: It's so funny. So one of the producers, Katie Summers,
- 14:43Speaker 3: I don't know if you guys both know her, but
- 14:46Speaker 3: she was like she came around to the table that
- 14:48Speaker 3: I was sitting at, and she's to all of us
- 14:51Speaker 3: standing there, she said, hey, do you want to be
- 14:53Speaker 3: part of something that's going to be really exciting? And
- 14:57Speaker 3: we were all like, well, well, yeah, of course, if
- 15:00Speaker 3: it's really exciting, why wouldn't we want to be part
- 15:02Speaker 3: of it? So we all kind of go over and
- 15:05Speaker 3: we had no idea what was about to happen, and
- 15:09Speaker 3: and then she gave us the scoop and told us
- 15:11Speaker 3: what was going to go down, and I actually got chills,
- 15:14Speaker 3: like I I I love love and I got chills.
- 15:20Speaker 3: And then afterwards people were all like up in arms.
- 15:23Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, I can't believe that somebody got engaged
- 15:25Speaker 3: in a wedding. You're not supposed to do.
- 15:27Speaker 4: That, blah blah blah, you know what I mean.
- 15:29Speaker 3: Like, but but.
- 15:33Speaker 1: It's not a standard wedding, right, It's not normal.
- 15:36Speaker 3: It's not a normal wedding. It was like a live
- 15:39Speaker 3: television event. It wasn't just a wedding. Oh anyway, it was.
- 15:46Speaker 3: It was really exciting in the moment, and I am
- 15:49Speaker 3: so happy for them both. Christina was amazing with my
- 15:53Speaker 3: daughter at the wedding and just love her, Oh my gosh,
- 15:58Speaker 3: just just love her.
- 16:00Speaker 5: She's like literally when people are like, what's like Christina,
- 16:02Speaker 5: I'm like, oh, I'm like, she's just like she's all personality.
- 16:06Speaker 5: Like it's just like she says so much going on
- 16:10Speaker 5: and she can literally talk to a brick wall and
- 16:12Speaker 5: like literally, I love it.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Yeah, that is a great way to describe her. But yeah,
- 16:18Speaker 3: that was that was a really fun moment for me
- 16:21Speaker 3: and I'm like, you know what, you can't compare it
- 16:23Speaker 3: to a normal wedding. It was the television event and
- 16:27Speaker 3: they spoke with Harry and Teresa beforehand, or he did, so, yeah,
- 16:34Speaker 3: what else? Stop making drama when there's no drama.
- 16:37Speaker 5: People, Hey, one thing that I've learned, one thing that
- 16:39Speaker 5: I have learned from being on this show is like,
- 16:42Speaker 5: people are going to talk no matter what, like, no.
- 16:44Speaker 4: Matter what happens.
- 16:45Speaker 5: Yeah, someone's gonna have something to say about something. And
