- 0:10What does the nanny do? OK, so we're done.
- 0:13Goodbye. You.
- 0:16Shut it off. Do not twist my words.
- 0:19Do not make me a victim, sweetie.
- 0:21Just look at the mountain. That's what you.
- 0:23Saw that day just the knife in
- 0:29and the sacrifices that I made
- 0:48Are you ready for me to expose
- 0:52What? Season 6 episode 14 polygamist
- 0:58flash mob. So I was thinking maybe that I
- 1:02would see somebody parts or maybe I would expose myself
- 1:06right here on this very podcast so you all could hear it.
- 1:10You could hear the slapping of
- 1:15Don't mind me, that's just my balls hitting my thighs.
- 1:18Welcome back to the show, everyone.
- 1:20Polygamous flash mob is the theme of this episode and yes,
- 1:25we are going to get into it. There will be a flash mob by
- 1:28some polygamists. Some flashers up in this house.
- 1:31Right. And flash mob, in case you've
- 1:35been living under a rock. And no, we this isn't exactly a
- 1:39contemporary. Yeah, you know it.
- 1:41Used to be a big. Thing but flash mobs are when
- 1:44everyone gets together and does a little hokey routine.
- 1:48Easy dance moves together out of
- 1:51Used to happen a lot at malls,
- 1:55Yeah. School functions.
- 1:57Proposals. Oh God.
- 1:59Inappropriate times. It reminds me a little bit of
- 2:02gender reveal parties where it's
- 2:05go, this is against the laws of nature and God and all that is
- 2:10good and pure in the universe.
- 2:13We're starting out hot today. We're starting out hot.
- 2:16I feel like a lot of gays would disagree because there's a lot
- 2:20of theater nerd gays out there
- 2:24of plenty of flash mob. Well, maybe back in the good old
- 2:28days, whenever this was recorded.
- 2:29But today, I would hope not. I would hope not.
- 2:34We opened this episode at Christine's house where they're
- 2:36doing a graduation meeting for
- 2:40graduation party. There's a voiceover from
- 2:44Christine kind of introducing us, and she tells us that it's
- 2:47her and Meri there and that they're actually going to
- 2:49include Leon and Aspyn as if it's a joke.
- 2:53She did forget to include that
- 2:56if Robyn joined later or if that
- 3:03Maybe she forgot Robyn was there.
- 3:04She. Probably wasn't invited, but
- 3:06Meri probably drug her along or invited her after the fact and
- 3:10surprised Christine with her presence.
- 3:12No. What a gift.
- 3:14What a gift. What a gift indeed.
- 3:16Yes, there's a couch moment where Janelle says she likes to
- 3:20go to parties, but she's not so into the planning.
- 3:23And you know, I was just shocked
- 3:25It was so surprising from our dear Janelle.
- 3:29When we're back at Christine's
- 3:32plans for this graduation party.
- 3:33And I didn't know if it was Meri or Christine, but they were
- 3:37talking about wanting to do a block party.
- 3:39Now who was talking about this? Meri calls it a block party,
- 3:43which Leon does not like. Leon doesn't like the suggestion
- 3:52from the youngins on the plans. In fact, Leon has an interview
- 3:58Quite a quote. Yeah, Leon says Meri and
- 4:02Christine are living vicariously through them because Christine
- 4:16What of the mothers do you think or?
- 4:20But they show Christine later on at her graduation with both of
- 4:31Yes. And she just went and met up
- 4:33with her parents after her graduation and then went home
- 4:36because she didn't have friends. And Robyn talks about her
- 4:40graduation as well. So yeah, this quote was jarring
- 4:44because one, it was distracting going.
- 4:46What do you mean Meri's the only one that graduated because then
- 4:49I'm doing the math in my head going.
- 4:50But how is it actually possible that none of the other adults
- 4:54graduated? So Leon is lying.
- 4:57Lying Leon. Why would you say the way that
- 5:02Yeah, they say things in a very mean way a lot of the time.
- 5:08Very snarky and intentionally rude and mean.
- 5:11There was a few moments in this episode that definitely reminded
- 5:16The kind words, the joshing, the
- 5:20from Leon. It sounds like this is actually
- 5:23just an asshole statement. And then when we're sitting here
- 5:25thinking about what happens later in the episode, it's not
- 5:27even true. So thanks for that, Leon.
- 5:30Yeah, Christine was weird in high school, and my mom's the
- 5:33only one who graduated. Maybe graduated from a public
- 5:38school, but that still doesn't
- 5:41No, no, no, it doesn't make sense.
- 5:43It makes me wonder what Meri tells Leon behind the scenes and
- 5:47what Leon believes. Because Leon and Meri are very
- 5:50close. I feel like Leon believes that
- 5:54they know more than the other children know so.
- 5:58Because of that, close the close.
- 6:01Bond that Meri and Leon have. Meri shares things with Leon the
- 6:05other moms potentially don't share with their children.
- 6:10Leon acts like a know it all frequently.
- 6:12So methinks Meri lies to Leon and feeds Leon little tidbits
- 6:20that aren't true. I don't know.
- 6:24While they're at the table, Christina's drawing a setup in
- 6:26the cul-de-sac. So there's like an outline of
- 6:29the, you know, dead end with the
- 6:32coming off of this sketch. 2 not
- 6:36sketch of like the cul-de-sac.
- 6:40tents in the cul-de-sac. She's drawing some music notes
- 6:43on one of the driveway indicating there will be music
- 6:46and dancing. They talk about dancing and
- 6:50Aspyn and Leon are immediately
- 6:54No. And Robyn says, so you don't
- 6:56want dancing. And Aspyn says, I'm not going to
- 7:00be like, no dancing, yo. Which we get some moments from
- 7:05Aspyn in this episode, which is kind of fun because a while
- 7:09Aspyn may not be the most high
- 7:13exciting or scandalous like Mckelty is, you know, the
- 7:17problem child, the rebel. It's just nice to hear from her
- 7:20because she's overall likable,
- 7:24giving her an unwarranted shit
- 7:28her a mustard see the very next episode or something like that.
- 7:31It's hard to remember, you know,
- 7:32Still stand by that one. Aspyn said that Logan was
- 7:37leaving the family and being a
- 7:42extricate himself too much from the family and it was untrue.
- 7:46Untrue. I do think that Aspyn is the
- 7:49antithesis of Mckelty. They're very, very different and
- 7:55it's so interesting that they come from the same mother.
- 7:59Very, very juxtaposed when you
- 8:04And Aspyn is very regimented, has her shit together, always
- 8:10helping Christine and Mckelty is
- 8:16Yeah, yeah. We get into some of that later
- 8:18in the episode. And Aspyn does have that kind of
- 8:22cliche stereotype thing of the
- 8:27parentified, very much. We'll get into it.
- 8:30We'll get into it. Robyn, the forgotten sister wife
- 8:34at this table, says, oh, and I
- 8:40And Aspyn says, that actually sounds cool.
- 8:42And I was like, OK, good. So the young ones are kind of
- 8:44getting into some of the ideas
- 8:47come from Robyn. And Robyn makes sure to tell us
- 8:49that there's nothing dark or creepy.
- 8:51You know, just for fun. Yeah, a poem reader, perhaps
- 8:55because they're going off to school and help predict their
- 8:58futures. It would just be fun He.
- 9:02He, he, you know, I'm not mad at
- 9:05It just happens to be Robyn. So that's, you know, take it for
- 9:10what it is. It just feels very, very out of
- 9:12the blue and off the cuff for a family that's super religious.
- 9:18Yeah, I've never been to a graduation party that included a
- 9:22future teller. Fortune teller.
- 9:25A fortune teller. Teller.
- 9:28Or a palm reader. Or a card reader.
- 9:30Or a tarot. You know, like the crystal ball.
- 9:32I've never been to any graduation party where this was
- 9:35a thing, so I I don't really know what triggered it, but
- 9:38let's call it Robyn's creativity.
- 9:40We're gonna just say that, and I
- 9:45suggestion by the crew behind the scene.
- 9:49Yeah, yeah. And they gave it to Robyn
- 9:52because she's a cute unique. Ohh, I've got the good idea.
- 9:57Look at me. And as we've seen before, she
- 9:59has literally had to be fed lines told what's going on
- 10:03before they asked her what's going on.
- 10:05So they probably gave it to her.
- 10:07Without this fortune teller, the episode would probably have been
- 10:16strings were pulled behind the scenes to get this to happen.
- 10:21Christine does say that she's living vicariously through with
- 10:24their children. She volunteers that she had no
- 10:32At least Christine can, you know, be a little self
- 10:37deprecating about something and do it with humor.
- 10:39And she's not in denial. Robyn would probably fabricate
- 10:45mislead everyone. What Robyn would do is fabricate
- 10:54for some reason. And it was probably because she
- 10:57just had the best ideas all the time and was unique.
- 11:00And but I was friends with all the boys, but I had no
- 11:03girlfriends and I don't know why pick me a girl.
- 11:07Well, she didn't go to quite that extent with her lies in
- 11:10this episode. As far as her past, she well,
- 11:13her past regarding her high school graduation.
- 11:15She does lie in the future, but later in the episode.
- 11:18She sure does. But she tells us that she only
- 11:23because she was in the polygamist family and she only
- 11:28So you know, once again, Leon, your other mothers are talking
- 11:40Yeah. When reviewing some of the
- 11:43collateral for this party, they're being shown photos that
- 11:46could be used for different things and Leon is talking about
- 11:52Oh and they show this great shot of Isabel in the kitchen doing
- 12:03hearing hell no by their older sibling at the kitchen table.
- 12:08Christine says you can't say HE double hockey sticks in front of
- 12:15So good. There's this moment.
- 12:18Back to the table, and Aspyn goes.
- 12:20Oh. Shit and they.
- 12:22Blur out the shit, they beep out the shit and it is so good.
- 12:27I was like, oh, thank you. We're finally getting some sort
- 12:30of real humor. It's been AI, don't know.
- 12:32It's been a minute since I've laughed with this family.
- 12:35I've laughed at them, but with them.
- 12:37They do all crack up. Everybody's laughing.
- 12:40Aspyn and Leon are laughing along after having a weird
- 12:46conversation about what they want versus what the moms want.
- 12:51And the moms are admitting
- 12:53they're going to live vicariously and we're going to
- 12:55do what we want anyway kind of
- 12:57So it's funny to see them all connect and laugh over something
- 13:00silly. And then we turn the page in
- 13:04this novel of an episode to Kody
- 13:08Leon's school aspirations are.
- 13:12looked at you and I said, can we
- 13:15this episode? Because I'm so over talking
- 13:16about it. I'm so over talking about it.
- 13:18But unfortunately we do have to talk about it because we get
- 13:21the return of Doctor Guido and we do have some significant
- 13:25changes to the narrative. So we can't just say this
- 13:28happened and moved on. This is a pivotal moment in
- 13:33Kody's thinking about student loans.
- 13:37Based on a crucial conversation.
- 13:40Crucial. Conversation QQ.
- 13:42Christine on the drums and Kimber on the microphone.
- 13:47Crucial conversations with Doctor Guido.
- 13:50The band. We all need the band.
- 13:53No one needs that you. And you're all waiting for.
- 13:57Thank you. Thank you.
- 13:57That's. What you meant to?
- 13:58Say thank you, Thank you. As we said, Doctor Guido's
- 14:02coming over to discuss how financing with college works.
- 14:05And Kody's kind of teeing this up as he's a reliable source.
- 14:09We have trust in him. Obviously, the kids liked him.
- 14:13And, you know, maybe where Janelle was struggling to get
- 14:16out of a desk, you know, it's hard for me to remember.
- 14:19These Yeah, Doctor Guido is the kids favorite teacher, their
- 14:22favorite high school teacher, and the family has turned to
- 14:25Doctor Guido in the past for advice when it has come to
- 14:30signing up for college or putting in college application.
- 14:34Applications.
- 14:35Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
- 14:36So this is the return of Doctor Guido.
- 14:40And Kody makes sure to tell Doctor Guido about his
- 14:43reservations regarding student
- 14:46ad nauseam. So I don't think we need to go
- 14:48into any detail about that. But Doctor Guido says that you
- 14:51don't want to stress your child out while they're in school.
- 14:55He talks about how medical school, specifically when it
- 14:58comes to Leon, could cost 150 two, $100,000 at.
- 15:03Least. Yeah.
- 15:04And I was thinking that sounded pretty conservative.
- 15:06Yeah. And Leon shouldn't be worried
- 15:08about financing while in school,
- 15:11talked about repeatedly. We don't need to beat you over
- 15:13the head about it, but this is
- 15:17know, especially if you've tried
- 15:20are stressed about money. It adds a whole layer of
- 15:23complication that you really probably, well, you would just
- 15:27be so benefited by not having.
- 15:30talk to Kody the Wise. I don't know who else was there
- 15:34other than Meri and Leon. Maybe it was just them.
- 15:37I didn't really pay attention to
- 15:39Guido is giving the talking points that I would respect.
- 15:43Yeah, Doctor Guido says to fill out the applications and you
- 15:47don't have to take the money, but just go ahead and fill out
- 15:50the applications, see what you
- 15:54from there. And he provides a wonderful
- 15:56example that I, we do actually
- 16:01little light bulb moment happening.
- 16:03And I thought this was super smart.
- 16:04So shout out to maybe the first personal shout out to Doctor
- 16:08Guido here. A round of applause.
- 16:09Thank you, fucking Doctor Guido.
- 16:11Because Doctor Guido points out that they have 4 beautiful homes
- 16:23And Doctor Guido was drawing the parallel about their children's
- 16:27dreams with their education. And they want to build a future
- 16:31with this education. And so we have a couple of couch
- 16:37Yeah, Kody has a light bulb go
- 16:39off. And Kody says, you know, I've
- 16:42looked at college as a way to make money, but my kids are
- 16:48looking at college as a way to
- 16:53Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding. OK, dreams, yes, but also to
- 16:58make money for several people,
- 17:00A motivation for college is to
- 17:03It's not just to chase a dream, it's a practical practice that
- 17:07they're going to go through. The number of jobs you can't
- 17:09even apply to, they will just throw it in the trash if you
- 17:12don't have a college degree. So this whole rationale that,
- 17:14well, you're not even going to
- 17:16your college programs. OK, But I still need a
- 17:18bachelor's or a master's to get into the roles that I want to
- 17:21do. And that is a fundamental for
- 17:22many people. Right.
- 17:24It's an unfortunate fact of the society that we live in because
- 17:29he is right. A lot of people don't use their
- 17:31degree. They're not in the field that
- 17:33they set out to be in, but it's a requirement.
- 17:36A lot of the job applications just get thrown away.
- 17:39And now with AI and tech, that's
- 17:44from the get go. If you don't have the
- 17:46qualifications listed, if you don't have the credentials to
- 17:49back things up, your applications getting tossed
- 17:53before a person even looks at it.
- 17:55Yeah. Absolutely.
- 17:56Yeah. I mean, my first real job in air
- 17:58quotes, like literally my first real job I wouldn't have had
- 18:03without my education, regardless
- 18:06education or not. And that's a reality for a lot
- 18:09of people. I think Kody is still of the era
- 18:12where if you worked hard enough,
- 18:17paying position because experience and staying in a
- 18:21company for an extremely long time was common to work your way
- 18:25up to a position that you might have had to go to school for to
- 18:30get, you know, without working
- 18:34Does that make sense? So I think Kody has this weird
- 18:38idea based on maybe his parents and the area he grew up in and
- 18:45the time. It's not like he's old, but it
- 18:48is definitely a different time
- 18:51Yeah, there's also an element of
- 18:56multiple people where, you know,
- 19:01if Kody wasn't making a lot of
- 19:05I mean, they lived poor. They lived in a trailer at one
- 19:08point, like all. Well, at least two of the
- 19:10mothers, sometimes at one point maybe 3 in a small house with
- 19:13kids. And those struggles are
- 19:16universal in so many ways. But I just think that Kody might
- 19:20have not had to really deal with
- 19:23way as a monogamous family where
- 19:27always picking up some slack. Christine, while they get made
- 19:30her the homeschool mom for the
- 19:33She always worked, Meri always
- 19:35He had multiple people working
- 19:39bringing in all the money. So I think he's a little, he
- 19:43maybe hit some rose colored glasses about that as well.
- 19:45Yeah, not the best judge of. Right, Right.
- 19:48Like Kody. Oh, God.
- 19:50Also in their narrative as a family now he's on ATV show.
- 19:54How many people are going to be plucked from their obscure life
- 19:57to be in a reality show and now have this thing where they can
- 19:59be on a platform talking about
- 20:02necessary? That's not most people.
- 20:04That's a very select number of
- 20:08boasting about how they don't have a college education.
- 20:10That's not most people. Yeah.
- 20:12So Kody says and admits student loans are not something that he
- 20:18would be happy about. But if a student loan keeps his
- 20:21kids from worrying about money
- 20:25keeps them focused on their grades, I guess that's fine.
- 20:29Learning and experiencing college.
- 20:33And as TLC does and as the show does, we have a seamless
- 20:37transition to graduation day for
- 20:41So basically through this episode, we're going to have
- 20:43this planning for the graduation
- 20:45We're going to have the graduation itself happen.
- 20:48Well, with this conversation with Doctor Guido in the middle,
- 20:51then we will have the graduation
- 20:53the graduation party itself. So we're not going to go over a
- 20:56lot of time, but just so you know, that's how it's going to
- 20:59kind of breakdown. And we're at Christine's house
- 21:02the morning of the graduation.
- 21:05Aspyn here, speaking directly to
- 21:10that she is ready to leave. She is ready to get out, and if
- 21:16she wasn't leaving for college, she'd be getting out anyways.
- 21:20And Christine, like, walks up behind her as she's saying this.
- 21:27Aspyn kind of backtracks and is like oh shit, Mama heard me.
- 21:33It was so good and I want to say
- 21:36the words. They hit me.
- 21:39If I wasn't leaving, I'd already
- 21:42And I loved it was like poetic
- 21:45I felt at the end of my teenage years, it's like if I wasn't
- 21:48already planning what I was doing, if I didn't have a plan
- 21:50and things in line, I'd already be out of here.
- 21:52Some people make that choice, some people run away, some
- 21:54people pull triggers too early.
- 21:56They devastate their lives in certain ways.
- 21:58Luckily I didn't do that, but I had a plan and I had the same
- 22:01sentiment. If I wasn't leaving, I'd already
- 22:10that house and it will be a big adjustment once she is gone and
- 22:15they proceed to show us utter fucking chaos.
- 22:20The chaos of her house. They did back it up with some
- 22:25good footage of Christine trying to and tell her children to do
- 22:33There was a little clip of truly taking a bath while Aspyn was
- 22:37doing her hair in the back. Truly was covered in chalk.
- 22:41Sidewalk. Sidewalk.
- 22:42Jog, yes. So Aspyn and Christine had gone
- 22:46to the store and they left Mckelty in charge.
- 22:50And when they came back, it was utter chaos in the house.
- 22:56Pandemonium. Pandemonium and they wash little
- 23:04gets her dressed and ready to go and she says to one of the other
- 23:11But she has to remind them I just gave her a bath.
- 23:15Please don't do that again. Oh boy.
- 23:18And just a little side note, when they show Christine in the
- 23:22hallway going probably going into her bedroom because Aspyn's
- 23:28just like the other homes, the bathroom is kind of huge.
- 23:31So it's kind of films strange. It's almost like cavernous and
- 23:36And when they show Christine in the hallway, I was so distracted
- 23:42niche ledge where there could be some artwork and just stuff
- 23:54little they actually have in the houses.
- 23:58The furniture, very minimal. Stuff hanging on the walls, very
- 24:07and doesn't fit the massive wall that it's hanging on.
- 24:12So Christine's house, barely a thing in it except for junk
- 24:18everywhere. So it almost looks, it almost
- 24:22looks as if they're renting a house or as if you're in a hotel
- 24:36And all their houses are like this, even Meri's very bizarre
- 24:45certain ways, so hers to me seems the most put together at
- 24:51the last episode or the one before, they've been in these
- 24:54homes for at least five months. I mean, we're going from
- 24:57Christmas now to high school graduation, so there's been some
- 25:04moved in a week ago and their children have been Tasmanian
- 25:07devils without parental supervision because there's just
- 25:14cluttery looking things. There was a shot at one point
- 25:17later in the episode where you pointed out the word art on the
- 25:21wall and it was a some slogan about family or something.
- 25:24It was like a stencil one. It was like directly on the wall
- 25:38tiny cursive decal. Decal, yeah.
- 25:41Put randomly in the middle. Yeah very strange with like 2
- 25:45dining room chairs along the wall and then clutter crap on
- 25:48the floor. Like what?
- 25:50I'm going to be honest, I don't like these houses.
- 25:54You said it when you talked about the bathroom.
- 25:57They're cavernous. They haven't filled them
- 26:01correctly. It looks like you spent all this
- 26:09You saved no money to furnish the place or put a window
- 26:13treatment up or an actual painting or piece of art.
- 26:17It's weird. Especially because they were
- 26:19coming from rentals where they were there for a hot minute.
- 26:22Like what did you have all around your rentals?
- 26:25Because they didn't seem so sparse.
- 26:26We haven't spent much time in Robyn's rental.
- 26:29It's like we see the My Sister Wife's Closet world headquarters
- 26:37Hawking jewelry crap. But I suspect that once we spend
- 26:53and charcuterie. They haven't shown us any other
- 26:58areas of her house really. They really haven't.
- 27:01You're right. Right.
- 27:02Which is odd because isn't Kody there all the time, but I think
- 27:08it's because Meri's house is the cleanest.
- 27:10We tend to be at Meri's house a lot.
- 27:13And of the four, Meri's going to be the one that they should go
- 27:19She won't have all this shit everywhere and whatever.
- 27:22So after the chaos of Christine's, we get to the
- 27:27opposite end of the spectrum. We go to the serene and tranquil
- 27:40through too loud. Keep it down.
- 27:42Don't you slam that back French door that I paid extra money
- 27:47for. I will not have sliding doors
- 27:50County never. Oh boy.
- 27:54And Meri is of course flat ironing her hair, drying the
- 27:59shit out of that hair even more, and I can hear it screaming as
- 28:11hair. What a beautiful scene, Mother
- 28:17And of course, Meri has to start talking about her emptiness
- 28:21syndrome, blah, blah, blah. Leon talks about being worried
- 28:29Sounds like some codependency stuff there.
- 28:31And you know, it is what it is. Meri references the 18 years
- 28:35they've had together and that the change will be hard for her.
- 28:41We've heard it all before. Then we get them in Meri's
- 28:44bedroom, where Meri's going to
- 28:47Meri gives Leon a delicate looking small Pearl necklace and
- 28:54Leon says is that your necklace?
- 28:59And Meri goes, well it used to be mine, and gives it to them.
- 29:13And then when Meri starts putting it on Leon, I was like,
- 29:18oh, it is a necklace, OK, Because it I couldn't even tell
- 29:21what it was at first. I could just tell it was pearls.
- 29:24size old. Do you think it was Meri's mom's
- 29:28grandma? Something like that.
- 29:29I have a feeling it was Meri's
- 29:37It did look like something I would have gotten at my first
- 29:41communion or something. Regardless, it does seem like
- 29:47it's something Leon has looked
- 29:51I had jewelry of my mom's that I
- 29:55mom's given me now as an older
- 30:00They are both crying during this, so it must mean something
- 30:05that Meri is finally giving this
- 30:08Yeah, it was an emotional moment.
- 30:09I nearly shed a tear. Just kidding, I did not.
- 30:13But. It did fit Leon's neck, so that
- 30:16was good. Oh, that is good.
- 30:17Yes, yes. And then we move outside of
- 30:21Meri's home to the cul-de-sac,
- 30:25and Aspyn are taking photos in
- 30:28And I thought it was pretty cute
- 30:32like, Oh my gosh, we look so fat in these.
- 30:33And I was struggling because that's exactly what I would
- 30:36think. The winds kind of blowing.
- 30:37They're a little billowy even I think at one point Meri says,
- 30:40you know, you can't tell me not to take photos today.
- 30:43And then they jump to do like an
- 30:46was horrific because they barely
- 30:50they are in these parachutes of outfits.
- 30:53So I did feel bad because it's
- 30:56where if my mom gave me that photo, I'd be like, this is
- 30:58going in the trash. Like I never want to see this
- 31:00photo of me ever again. Graduation gowns are so ugly.
- 31:04They're so uncomfortable and plasticky and depending on the
- 31:08color, you have to wear a certain color underneath it, we
- 31:13were told. US ladies were told in my
- 31:17graduating class that we had to wear a white dress under our
- 31:21gown because the girls were wearing the white ones and the
- 31:25boys were wearing maroon. Gross.
- 31:28Yeah, so we had to wear a white dress.
- 31:31We were told that they wouldn't let us walk and stuff if we
- 31:34weren't wearing the proper attire underneath because it
- 31:38would show through. I hate the whole gendered thing
- 31:40of the graduation bit. Even with Logan's graduation
- 31:43they paired the man and woman to
- 31:45getting their diploma and it's
- 31:49whatever it was and I'm going.
- 31:51disgusting like it's gross. It's pretty ridiculous.
- 31:54I graduated in 2009 and and. It was still happening.
- 31:58It was still happening and Logan's graduation was what year
- 32:03would that have been? 20. 132014.
- 32:06Yeah, that's gross. Yeah.
- 32:08And these poor, unfortunate children, their graduation gowns
- 32:13are a blue and an unforgiving blue between sky and.
- 32:19I don't know Cobalt. What a very.
- 32:21Bright, very bright, very bright.
- 32:23The chartreuse of the Blues, let's say.
- 32:28I'm lucky because I went to an
- 32:30so I walked across to get my diploma in jeans and a Jean
- 32:34jacket and a baby pink T-shirt.
- 32:36And I was so in my Madonna 1987 era, I had short blonde hair.
- 32:40And I put my hands in my pocket and strutted across the stage
- 32:43and picked up my diploma and went like, it gave a little
- 32:46moment and walked off. And I was like, fuck yeah, I'm
- 32:51And the same is true today. I am so cool.
- 32:54Totally. And you still wear that baby
- 32:56pink shirt sometimes. Boy, you certainly don't have
- 32:59that one. I don't think I would fit in it
- 33:01anymore. It was totally like one of those
- 33:06There's holes in the nipple area for some reason, I don't know
- 33:09why, but he still wears it. Wore those holes out.
- 33:13Oh my God. Regina.
- 33:15George style. Ridiculous.
- 33:17So we arrive at UNLV for this graduation ceremony and everyone
- 33:35And then we see Kody staring off and he says I need to know what
- 33:43to do with my car. Yeah, you know, at least
- 33:50Christine had the foresight to say, you know, should we go in
- 33:59Yeah, it was pretty cringe. You know, there is a certain
- 34:04thing in, OK, it might be a little gendered as we were
- 34:07talking about earlier. Maybe it's a little old
- 34:10fashioned, but I think maybe you and your husband would have some
- 34:15like this. My husband would be driving the
- 34:18car because it's driving Miss Daisy up in this bitch.
- 34:21I don't like to. Drive Passenger Princess.
- 34:24Amen. And he would drop me off at the
- 34:28door and anyone else who was a passenger and go park the
- 34:32fucking car as I went in with my ticket to save seats for the
- 34:38family. And he would come in later with
- 34:41his ticket and find us. Yeah, when you have a family
- 34:47this large, how is this still a fucking problem?
- 34:52How has he not gone and parked the car and just met y'all in
- 34:57there? I don't get what is so difficult
- 35:03Yeah, his search for the fuse box in the recent episode has
- 35:08really highlighted to me now how going through these episodes,
- 35:12how the basics just seem to be such a struggle for this guy
- 35:16literally parking the car at a high school graduation.
- 35:19I mean, how many times do you drop your passengers off and
- 35:22then go park the car and come up?
- 35:24I mean, this is a very standard thing and there's other examples
- 35:29How have you made it this far? It's really because he has four
- 35:32women, Well, three women for a while and two before that and
- 35:35one before that, supporting him and taking care of him.
- 35:37He clearly can't just take care of anything.
- 35:39He is, as you say, a bumbling idiot.
- 35:42If the wives weren't doing most of the work, he wouldn't have
- 35:48made it very far. No natural selection would have
- 35:51occurred with this one. He's the epitome of a man that
- 35:59It probably went from Mother to Mission to Meri.
- 36:02It was. MMM, it was really.
- 36:04That's what it was. It really was.
- 36:07And he's standing there off to the side of the family, looking
- 36:13around, not even really speaking to anybody in
- 36:17particular. Maybe the cameraman?
- 36:20Hard to tell. I don't know what to do with my
- 36:23car man. Well, they're standing in the
- 36:27parking lot. Yeah, like, what are you talking
- 36:29about? And he's not even in his car.
- 36:31It's like, isn't the car somewhere?
- 36:33What, did you pull it up next to
- 36:35and stood around? I think so.
- 36:37That's just insane. I think they all reconvened
- 36:39outside of their cars and had to
- 36:45still and we're trying to discuss what to do next.
- 36:48Right. What the actual fuck?
- 36:51So strange. Meet at the front of the
- 36:52building. Everybody take your own ticket.
- 36:56So and so. We're going to go and find the
- 36:58seats. Christine and Janelle, I'll go
- 36:59find the seats, take the little kids with you, and the rest of
- 37:02us will meet up with you. I don't understand.
- 37:07Things are just way too hard for
- 37:09And I get curious about that with the show.
- 37:11How much of the struggle of things is production based for
- 37:15them to have content for the show?
- 37:17Some of these examples, though, don't fit like that.
- 37:20And there are somewhere it's, you know, obviously we have to
- 37:23have a conflict. We have to have a thing to
- 37:24resolve, We have to have something to bring along with
- 37:26the storyline, blah, blah, blah.
- 37:28But some of these examples just seem like organically idiotic
- 37:32moments. I obviously the fuse box is 1
- 37:34and this seems like another one. I mean, I mean, it's obviously
- 37:41moment from our fearless leader, Kody.
- 37:44Yeah. OK, Kody.
- 37:46So they get inside finally, after struggling to even get
- 37:52through the door, and hand everyone the tickets as they're
- 37:55heading in the door. Three hours later.
- 37:58Oh. My gosh.
- 37:59Well, at least they made it on time this time.
- 38:01Yeah, can't blame. Can't blame Robyn for that.
- 38:04Yep, she wasn't off getting her nails done with baby Saul,
- 38:08breathing in the fumes at the nail salon, dragging him there
- 38:14I was asking strangers where to go.
- 38:16What an idiot. Oh my God.
- 38:21So they get to the spot that was chosen.
- 38:25Meri has a conniption fit, Meri says.
- 38:30Who chose this spot? Oh no, shit's about to hit the
- 38:40stage and Meri is pissed. Meri says I need to see them
- 38:48walking in and I won't see them at all here.
- 38:52And the tears are coming. The tears are coming.
- 38:57Oh my goodness. And to provide a little bit of
- 39:11They call it stadium, but it's not outdoors.
- 39:14It's just a big space where you would have something like a
- 39:18graduation. And so we're talking about like
- 39:20that tiered seating, like the stadium.
- 39:23It is stadium seating. So, you know, I guess that makes
- 39:31They didn't have to. There was plenty of seating
- 39:34open. They're showing us on the
- 39:36cameras. Go pick another fucking spot.
- 39:39This doesn't need to be a fight.
- 39:41A lot of other open seats. Oh my Lanta.
- 39:43Yeah, so after Meri starts crying and the world starts
- 39:47shaking and everyone's on edge, she's huffing and puffing up
- 39:51those stadium stairs. Oh, God, I'm not going to be
- 39:55able to see Leon. It's like, oh, God, where's she
- 39:58going? What's going on?
- 39:59What's happening, Huh. Then I think we have a
- 40:02commercial break. I'm not quite sure.
- 40:03I kind of trauma blocked it. But when we return, we see
- 40:07Christine and Meri are scanning the stadium seating to see if
- 40:10there are other options available.
- 40:12And as we see with the camera pan, there are plenty of other
- 40:18planted is open enough where it's clear that it's not going
- 40:23And why does everybody have to move?
- 40:25Meri could go. A small group of them could go,
- 40:28the parents could go, the older kids could stay with the
- 40:31children. If there's not enough seats,
- 40:33Meri, go sit where you want to fucking sit, right?
- 40:36Why does this have to be the end of the world?
- 40:39It is Aspyn and Leon's graduation, so we're talking
- 40:43about Kody, Meri and Christine. You know, if Robyn, she probably
- 40:49Janelle would probably be like, I'm cool here.
- 40:51I mean, Janelle could be like, I could watch the video
- 40:53afterwards, You know, Janelle, she would have been like, I'm
- 40:56just here because I kind of have to be.
- 40:58Yeah, she could have stayed with the little kids if there weren't
- 41:04Whatever. Well, Speaking of Robyn, we cut
- 41:07to a scene with her and Kody in the hallway, having a little
- 41:11discussion about the trauma that Meri's currently going through
- 41:20really upset and Kody says Meri is always playing this game and
- 41:27turns around and goes and actually gets you involved.
- 41:33Oh, oh snap. Snap.
- 41:36And Robyn says I understand, I just know you're better than
- 41:42this. It's her one child, OK?
- 41:47Yes, so she's diverting Kody's attention from while you're
- 41:52saying, yes, Mario's does this, and then she plays the game and
- 41:56she gets you upset and then she comes and gets me and whatever.
- 41:58Like, all right.
- 41:59So she's kind of acknowledging
- 42:02really engage with him on it and
- 42:05you're better than this and today's about the kids.
- 42:07And that's what you're here for.
- 42:10Kody is the kids. And so, you know, it's odd to
- 42:15witness so many things happening in such a short amount of time.
- 42:19Kody's volunteering that Mario's
- 42:20does this. She's fucked up.
- 42:21She's manipulative. She always gets Robyn involved.
- 42:23Robyn acknowledges it, moves on to you should be concerned
- 42:27about your children. Let's make it about the kids.
- 42:30So I don't want to. I can't even be upset with Robyn
- 42:33about this situation. I feel like she's trying to help
- 42:36him, but I wonder if they ever
- 42:41about this in any reasonable, helpful way, Right?
- 42:44It seems like maybe Kody brings this up when he's mad or when
- 42:47they're in the situation with Meri where they're not going to
- 42:50actually address it. So it's like this known thing,
- 42:52and I don't know that they ever really get to any healthy place
- 42:55with it, you know? Yeah, he literally says she's
- 42:58always playing this game and actually come in and getting you
- 43:01involved, playing a game and you're telling one of your wives
- 43:06this about another wife and using this.
- 43:10He did playing a game kind of language that I would find
- 43:15offensive if somebody said that about me behind my back.
- 43:18She's always playing this game
- 43:22because, OK, she is playing a game.
- 43:25She does this a lot. She does get Robyn involved.
- 43:28But my point being, let's give
- 43:32She's just an emotional person.
- 43:34She needs support every now and then.
- 43:36And if my partner was saying that to anybody else, I'd be
- 43:41freaking offended. I would be hurt.
- 43:44And I do applaud Robyn here because she is trying to bring
- 43:52situation. Let's make it about what we're
- 43:55But also, Kody, this is Meri's one child.
- 43:59If she wants to move seats because she wants to see Leon a
- 44:04certain way as Leon's walking down, this is her one chance.
- 44:09It's her one child. So I do appreciate that she
- 44:13pointed that out in Meri's defense, because while Meri is
- 44:20Totally is, yeah. Very extra.
- 44:22It's got to be super emotional that this is your one child
- 44:28walking down the graduation aisle.
- 44:30Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, I would assume so.
- 44:33It's just classic mare that it has to be, you know, she's
- 44:37crying and almost in borderline hysterics where let's solve the
- 44:41problem and not just be upset. She made a scene I.
- 44:44Don't know. Yes, she did make a scene.
- 44:46It was really awkward too because there's people just lay
- 44:50people around that are also there to see their kids.
- 44:54They're in the background during this filming and Meri's storming
- 45:03Leon, there are just people sitting there in the stands
- 45:07watching all this happen. Yeah, it's.
- 45:11Embarrassing. And it's someone who has a
- 45:14mother who has turned more than one event that was about me into
- 45:21If I could offer any advice to any mother out there, it would
- 45:30significant way. The only thing I can say right
- 45:35That is a blessing because when you're standing right there and
- 45:39your parent is making your event, your performance, your
- 45:43literal thing that everyone's there for about them, it
- 45:48changes. For me, it changed my
- 45:51relationship with my mother significantly.
- 45:52Like, bitch, this is not about you and this is a high impact
- 45:56moment and you're making it about you enough.
- 45:58So I'm just glad Leon wasn't actually there to witness it.
- 46:01I think Kody's frustration is understandable.
- 46:03To me, it feels like something you would bitch about to like
- 46:06one of his boys on Testosterone Tuesday.
- 46:08Not to his other wife, but you know.
- 46:11That's how you create rifts between the wives and we're
- 46:16seeing it happen. We're seeing it play out.
- 46:19That's why I'm saying this playing this game, that comment
- 46:23it's a heated. It takes it's a lot of weight.
- 46:28If somebody were to tell me that I'm playing a game, I don't even
- 46:56Usually when they come out, it's because I kind of can't control
- 47:01it. And I am really truly feeling
- 47:03those feelings. Now, his experience with Meri is
- 47:08her emotions as a weapon and, and to manipulate.
- 47:11But you don't need to be saying that to your other wife.
- 47:15This is where you're going to start pitting them against each
- 47:18other, saying things like that. We're seeing it.
- 47:22We're hearing it. And to be fair, in this moment,
- 47:25I didn't feel like Meri was playing a game.
- 47:28It did seem like she was just genuinely upset and was having a
- 47:33And it didn't seem like she had some sort of premeditated thing
- 47:37where she was going to use this against Kody.
- 47:39Like, that was not the vibe. So it didn't really align in
- 47:42that way either. Yeah, it had nothing to do with
- 47:45Kody. In another instance where it has
- 47:52see it. This isn't that type of
- 47:54situation. So for him to be quick to anger
- 47:57about it instead of trying to fix the problem and being
- 48:02supportive. Yeah, Robyn, actually good on
- 48:05you for doing something of saying something.
- 48:08We reluctantly give her her flowers every once in a while.
- 48:13Don't worry, we get to hate Robyn for the rest of the
- 48:16episode. Oh my gosh.
- 48:19So after this exchange between Kody and Robyn, Kody goes over
- 48:27Everybody up. Let's go.
- 48:29So Robyn talked him into doing the right thing.
- 48:33So they all get up and they move to seats that are more ideal to
- 48:38view the ceremony. And in classic, you know,
- 48:42television storytelling, we have all this build up of all this
- 48:44shit and then all of a sudden, Wham, bam, thank you, ma'am,
- 48:46we're in these other seats and everything is fine.
- 48:49Like, Oh my God, we get these moments with Meri where she
- 48:53talks about how it's weird that graduation.
- 48:55Oh, sorry. Weird.
- 48:56Weird that the graduation is finally here, that, you know,
- 49:00she's been anticipating it, and now she doesn't have to
- 49:02anticipate it anymore because it's finally here and it's weird
- 49:13and she feels old. She has a daughter graduating
- 49:19and it's making her feel old. Yeah, so after the high school
- 49:28I was going to say forget, but maybe remember we're going back
- 49:31to Meri's house and we get Kody laying on Meri's couch and her
- 49:38forgotten, looks like one from a receptionist front lobby that he
- 49:45Oh, what was that place called? Colleen's Classic Consignment
- 49:50where that salesman really talked them into this couch that
- 49:57Kody's lounging on the couch and he's saying that he wants to
- 50:04should be able to rest on Saturday, don't you think so?
- 50:08And she agrees while laughing while doing dishes.
- 50:11Men deserve to lounge on. Saturday, Christopher.
- 50:13Well, and then he cracks a joke about how Moses said to rest on
- 50:19Saturday. Because the first thing I
- 50:20thought was I thought Sunday was the day of rest.
- 50:23But apparently it's universally known that men should be able to
- 50:30parking spot and attending a graduation.
- 50:33Well, our Lord Jesus says that on Sunday we worship him, and
- 50:38Moses says that on Saturday the men rest.
- 50:42Oh, didn't you know this? I know what a fool I've been.
- 50:47I always thought that God created the world in six days
- 50:49and then on the 7th day he rested and that's why we rest on
- 50:55worldly or as sophisticated as Kody Brown.
- 50:57I don't have that biblical knowledge like he does.
- 51:00No, something Joseph Smith would be ashamed.
- 51:03Of I was going to say I should take a trip to Nauvoo so I can
- 51:08Meri tells Kody that they should really have a conversation with
- 51:13Leon about Meri's baby decision.
- 51:16As we've talked about before on this show, I said we're not
- 51:19going to give this any more time.
- 51:20We are only going to give it the
- 51:22You guys, we're going to rush through it because fuck this
- 51:24whole scenario. I'm over it.
- 51:26I hate it. They just keep beating it into
- 51:30us that this is going on in the family.
- 51:32They. Will not stop.
- 51:33Yeah, Kody says. We made a decision about having
- 51:36a baby and we're going to talk
- 51:40It's a big deal. It's a big deal.
- 51:45They go into Meri's bedroom, the
- 51:50For some reason, the parents need to be sitting on the bed
- 51:54for this conversation. Right.
- 51:55They couldn't have it in the family room or wherever they
- 51:57already were. Kody couldn't just lay on the
- 51:59couch like Cleopatra as he was
- 52:02They're laying. There odd choice either way.
- 52:07To give this breaking news, this
- 52:10they're sitting on Meri's bed with her back against the
- 52:13headboard and Meri starts telling Leon they're going to,
- 52:15they're not going to force the issue any longer.
- 52:18They're they've made their decision.
- 52:20Meri can barely even start the conversation and it's just
- 52:24disjointed, awkward looks at Kody and says you can feel free
- 52:28to chime in here. And they both kind of come out
- 52:34We don't want to go to extreme measures, blah blah blah, all
- 52:37the shit that we already know. And Leon says.
- 52:40I don't really understand why, I guess.
- 52:42And then Meri continues. Meri says I didn't want to do it
- 52:49I hope you can understand. And Leon, ever the sensitive
- 52:54child, says. I really don't, but I guess I
- 52:58already knew. Leon's two responses are I don't
- 53:06already knew. Very supportive.
- 53:08And it ends with all of them going OK, OK, OK, yeah, OK.
- 53:16Yeah, well, OK. Series of case.
- 53:19OK then. All right, wrap it up.
- 53:22We're good. Never fucking talking about that
- 53:26Please, please, Kody thinks Leon took the news really well and
- 53:31then gives rationale about how he wishes they had tried 10 to
- 53:40baby decision to rest? Please my God.
- 53:44Burying this in the backyard with the dogs with the time
- 53:50capsule, we're fucking done. Another thing that I wish Kody
- 53:59They be burning what? Is with these long sideburns
- 54:04that come down to his cheekbone an angle like a triangle along
- 54:12Yeah. Mid cheekbone.
- 54:14It is weird because I have to say when I was so I graduated in
- 54:25sideburns but they didn't come to a dramatic point following my
- 54:31that's all about. I remember sideburns used to be
- 54:35a statement. People used to make them pointed
- 54:51manscaping. I don't know.
- 54:54I noticed it in this scene because they're sitting on this
- 54:58bed. They're doing close-ups.
- 55:00You don't notice it often because his facial hair is very
- 55:06light colored, but it was just so apparent to me in this scene
- 55:11and I just, I don't know, it's bothering me.
- 55:14The facial hair thing that stood up to me in this episode is how
- 55:18later on the couch or something they're talking and I didn't
- 55:21quite notice the sideburns as much, but he has that goatee
- 55:26situation without the mustache. Like what do they like a chin?
- 55:32It doesn't go all the way. Oh, a flavor saver.
- 55:35He has a flavor saver and it's weird because it's a little, I
- 55:45I think he's overemphasizing it to make his jaw more dynamic,
- 55:48right? Like he's got a real chin and it
- 55:54that's going on. So I wouldn't notice the
- 55:56sideburns, but I did notice the flavor saver.
- 56:00I'm getting an idea for myself here.
- 56:05Flavor Saver. Maybe he's experimenting with
- 56:07the facial hair and that's why we both noted something about
- 56:10it. He's definitely experimenting.
- 56:15where it's out now, and we're noticing it more with the
- 56:17tendrils in the front. And so now he's playing with the
- 56:29middle. In the front he's got the pointy
- 56:36Yeah, Hey, you know, I like experimenting.
- 56:39I've tried a few different looks.
- 56:41Sure. Call me Kody Brown.
- 56:44All right, well, we always know who we can blame for this.
- 56:49What was her name? Kennedy.
- 56:53Kennedy Dale. It's on the tip of my tongue.
- 56:59Kennedy, we're going to blame you yet again.
- 57:01Yeah, Robyn's like you let him cut his beard, you let him get
- 57:08I want to savor that flavour.
- 57:10Oh no no no. If there's any woman that I can
- 57:18imagine being constantly, constantly dry and flavourless,
- 57:24it is 1 Robyn Brown. OK, like.
- 57:28Oh Lord. That is some unseasoned chicken
- 57:30breast burnt all right. Like no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
- 57:34no, no. No, Oh my God.
- 57:38Well, it's that time of episode where we go off the deep end,
- 57:41so. Buckle up kids, we're going to
- 57:45finally go off the deep end. We're not there yet.
- 57:49Now, it's still not the day of
- 57:51So I'm assuming this is still the day of the graduation.
- 57:54They're not quite clear about that.
- 57:56But, you know, let's make some, you know, we'll operate under
- 58:00some assumptions. So we're at Christine's house
- 58:02and Meri has an idea to do a polygamist flash mob where all
- 58:07of the adults do a dance during Leon and Aspyn's graduation
- 58:10party. Well, they're just going to
- 58:13honor their children's wishes because Aspyn and Leon said no
- 58:17dancing at the party. They're going to make it all
- 58:19about themselves and do a flash mob at the party.
- 58:23Full on dance. Choreographed dance.
- 58:26Yes, as a reaction to Christine saying we're actually going to
- 58:30invite them to the conversation,
- 58:33this with them, right? And then they're like, please,
- 58:35no dancing. And they're like, so we're going
- 58:36to dance on steroids. Oh my God.
- 58:39One wife that will not partake
- 58:43Janelle has recused herself from
- 58:47Love the use of the word recused.
- 58:49Very good, very good, and actually very special for this
- 58:53family, right? They talk about how Janelle will
- 58:55serve as a distraction to the kids while the other parents are
- 58:59getting ready for this flash mob.
- 59:00And as they're talking about it on the couch, it almost felt
- 59:03like they were making it up on
- 59:06But what's funny about the couch
- 59:09after the event has happened. So it's like, why are you
- 59:13talking about it as if you're making it up right now when it's
- 59:15already happened? It seemed a little weird to me.
- 59:18It was, but I think it was probably just because they maybe
- 59:21never really came up with what
- 59:24was going to do and why she wasn't participating in the
- 59:26dance. Maybe she came up with the whole
- 59:29distraction idea on her own and then they were trying to come
- 59:31up with their story later. It just seemed weird to me.
- 59:34I think Christine came up with
- 59:39we will see, the distraction later is a gift and it's wrapped
- 59:45in Disney Princess wrapping paper and that is very Christine
- 59:49coated. It is very Christine, so I.
- 59:51Feel like in the confessional couch area, they had to have a
- 59:57reason that Janelle wasn't participating in the flash mob.
- 1:00:01So they just said because she'd given the gift at the time.
- 1:00:05Oh, well, it was on purpose. We are planning it this way
- 1:00:08because she's the distraction.
- 1:00:11It felt like, of course she's they're coming up with this
- 1:00:14thing, that she's the distraction because Janelle
- 1:00:16doesn't want to be a part of it.
- 1:00:17She's like, I don't want to fucking dance with these people.
- 1:00:20I have no cares. I do not want to do this.
- 1:00:22Understandable, but it just felt
- 1:00:26are you figuring this out in the
- 1:00:29done it? Whatever.
- 1:00:31A mystery. And I don't want to be mean, but
- 1:00:33I can't picture Janelle doing this at all anyway.
- 1:00:38Not being mean whatsoever. It's just not her type of thing
- 1:00:43at all. No, no, I don't want to say hold
- 1:00:46your breath because if you did, you wouldn't be here for our
- 1:00:49next episode. But I think Janelle might be
- 1:00:52forced into a Brown family dance
- 1:00:57as delightful as you would anticipate.
- 1:01:00The poor dear. So we go to Christine's house
- 1:01:04again after this couch moment.
- 1:01:08They are working on the choreography.
- 1:01:11And Kody says I can't go from doing this stuff that feels very
- 1:01:16effeminate to masculine. He doesn't like the dance moves
- 1:01:22they're planning out for him. They're too effeminate for him.
- 1:01:26And this is where I noticed the word art on the wall, the
- 1:01:29teensy tiny little word art on the gigantic wall.
- 1:01:34And it says a family is God's masterpiece.
- 1:01:40A tiny little saying, a tiny little word art for a large
- 1:01:44wall. For a large family, it's so
- 1:01:48weird how it's funny that God's masterpiece is this family.
- 1:01:52You'd think you'd make it a little bigger for your giant
- 1:01:54wall, especially since you have a giant family, but it's like
- 1:01:57teeny tiny. And don't you think Meri made
- 1:02:00that decal with her cricket? Perhaps.
- 1:02:03And she could have made it larger if she knew how to
- 1:02:05measure. Yeah, she could have made each
- 1:02:07letter with her cricket and had done it that way.
- 1:02:10Right. I'm sure that this is something
- 1:02:13Meri probably handed out one to each wife.
- 1:02:17Some stupid because I've seen this in pretty much every wife's
- 1:02:22house at this point. Some word art decal and it's all
- 1:02:27that same black cursive. So I'm just imagining that Meri
- 1:02:31made these for everybody and just made them too tiny.
- 1:02:36And see, this is the thing about
- 1:02:40Oh God. You find a little spot in the
- 1:02:44hallway. You find a place between a door
- 1:02:46and a window. You know, You find a little
- 1:02:48corner. You find a.
- 1:02:49Tile bar in the bathroom. Thank you.
- 1:02:53You don't put it smack dab in the middle of the biggest wall
- 1:02:55in your family room. It's just insane.
- 1:02:58I shouldn't say insane. It's bad taste.
- 1:03:01Thank you, Christine, for having
- 1:03:04Thanks Meri for making it. All these women.
- 1:03:10So Meri tells Kody, do it more
- 1:03:16more masculine and. Then Christine tries to
- 1:03:20demonstrate to him how to snap
- 1:03:26manner. And as she's doing it because
- 1:03:29how, like, what does that really
- 1:03:32You guys are on the same journey
- 1:03:33What does this really mean? I mean, how do you go from like
- 1:03:36snapping like this to snapping
- 1:03:38So Christine's trying to demonstrate this.
- 1:03:40And as she's doing it, she has
- 1:03:44she's possessed by a demon once again.
- 1:03:47Like in a recent episode where
- 1:03:49and you know, all those things.
- 1:03:51And while she's doing it, I had a moment in my head where I went
- 1:03:58Christine, you're being possessed.
- 1:03:59And it was not lost on me that when a woman's trying to
- 1:04:04describe how to be masculine while dancing with snapping, she
- 1:04:10Just saying. You get that manosphere
- 1:04:13attitude. Well, listen, it's always the
- 1:04:15man's. Yeah, you're going to be a man.
- 1:04:16You're going to look like the
- 1:04:17devil. No, it was funny though, because
- 1:04:20it is also like, yeah, I mean,
- 1:04:22And so with the flash mob bit,
- 1:04:27I mean, they're not even doing 8
- 1:04:28So it is what it is. And it's very snap, snap, turn
- 1:04:30left, turn right when they're doing these introductory steps
- 1:04:34and all they're doing is literally like snapping to the
- 1:04:36left, snapping to the right. And Kody's saying it looks too
- 1:04:38feminine. So when Christine's trying to
- 1:04:40demonstrate what it means to do masculine, it literally what
- 1:04:44are you supposed to do other than look like you're
- 1:04:46possessed by the devil? I don't know.
- 1:04:48It doesn't make sense. Yeah, a lot of this stuff, it's
- 1:04:54these people I don't even know.
- 1:04:56No, I know, I know, I know. It's ridiculous.
- 1:04:59So while all of this hell of a hullabaloo is happening, Leon
- 1:05:04enters through the front door and it's like, oh, OK.
- 1:05:08Oh, Leon's here. Oh, can't know about the dance,
- 1:05:10Can't know about the dance. I think we see Peyton running
- 1:05:12over and being like, no, the diss are here.
- 1:05:14I don't even know what. Yeah, get out.
- 1:05:16It was some sort of loud crazy distraction that was like, this
- 1:05:20is completely not. You're making it worse.
- 1:05:22You're making it obvious something hidden is.
- 1:05:24Happening. Yes, it was so good.
- 1:05:27And so of course they're trying to white lie about what's going
- 1:05:32on. What a shock.
- 1:05:33Yeah, they tried telling Leon they're trying to see if
- 1:05:38Christine's space would better fit the group than Meri's space.
- 1:05:45her space looks in comparison to
- 1:05:49And they're all spreading out and trying to trying to cover
- 1:05:56their asses here. So then we go to the couch and
- 1:06:01the parents are talking about how well, we just, you know, we
- 1:06:06had to hide it. We had to.
- 1:06:07We just didn't even know. We didn't know what to do.
- 1:06:10And Christine's like, well, you guys were just also ready to
- 1:06:13give up and give up on our little secret.
- 1:06:17Oh. No.
- 1:06:18And something about she uses her
- 1:06:21truth is like this. And it's like all her arms are
- 1:06:24widespread and she's like, we're
- 1:06:26this little bit here, which is
- 1:06:29it's part of the big equation.
- 1:06:33everything that you know is right in pure and good in the
- 1:06:35world. Well, and everyone knows that a
- 1:06:37good lie is a lie with a little bit of the.
- 1:06:40Truth. Yes.
- 1:06:42Because you can keep your story straight if you keep a little
- 1:06:45bit of the truth in there. And then we get a real gem from
- 1:06:49Kody. Oh, Kody.
- 1:06:51A real gem, he says. Come on, we're polygamists.
- 1:06:56We're always hiding the truth.
- 1:07:03while watching, and they're all cracking up as if it's so
- 1:07:08funny. And it's like, OK, so let's do
- 1:07:18we're polygamous. We're always hiding the truth.
- 1:07:27We could go on for an hour about all the times we've discovered
- 1:07:35each other, from their children, from Drake as they
- 1:07:39drove him to his death. I mean this family.
- 1:07:43Not from. Drake, it's got no end, The
- 1:07:48lies. They just do not cease, ever.
- 1:07:52Yeah, as they're crafting their mission statement, I think one
- 1:08:03of truth so that you can make sure to remember that while
- 1:08:05you're telling the lie. My God.
- 1:08:08And it's funny because it is over a light hearted moment and
- 1:08:12you know, we're kind of making a mountain out of a molehill,
- 1:08:16but really it's a mountain. You're laughing about it because
- 1:08:26Get to the day of the party, now it's here.
- 1:08:32I'm putting on my big boy panties for this party.
- 1:08:36Aspyn is talking about how she's been nervous all morning.
- 1:08:40She's finally starting to feel calm and Aspyn and Christine are
- 1:08:53they're both wearing. Aprons.
- 1:08:55It was adorable. It was really cute.
- 1:08:58Christine's apron is some sort of Minnie Mouse apron shock and
- 1:09:04Aspyn's was some frilly yellow apron, probably from the Silver
- 1:09:10Hideout, Silverton's Hideout store or something.
- 1:09:14Guilt on Silverton. Silverton.
- 1:09:18Excuse. Me.
- 1:09:20It was an adorable moment and it showed me how put together Aspyn
- 1:09:32They're being cute in the kitchen together.
- 1:09:35Being able to have an on camera to camera moment the morning of
- 1:09:38your graduation party being all,
- 1:09:42earlier. I was a little worked up, but
- 1:09:44now I'm OK. I'm easing into the day.
- 1:09:45I've, I, you know, I've chilled out.
- 1:09:47It's like, Oh my gosh, it feels like she's more mature than me
- 1:09:56together. We learned that they have so
- 1:09:59much to do. Of course, they still have to
- 1:10:01put up decorations. They have to prep this food.
- 1:10:03They have to blow up balloons, which transitions into a lovely
- 1:10:07joke from Christine when she's talking to Kody.
- 1:10:10Kody says something about how he can help blow up the balloons.
- 1:10:15balloons. You're full of hot air.
- 1:10:16You should be helping to blow up the balloons.
- 1:10:19And I was like, yes, bust his balls, bust his balls.
- 1:10:22Except for no one's really blowing up balloons, because
- 1:10:25Meri's thought of it all and she has a helium tank in the fucking
- 1:10:31Yes. Meri.
- 1:10:32Excuse me? A full blown helium tank?
- 1:10:35Hello. Not even one of those little
- 1:10:37chintzy oh it blows up 20. Or $20 one from Target.
- 1:10:41It's a big 10. God, I missed that.
- 1:10:45See, Meri's so good. See this is it.
- 1:10:47Meri's good. When she's good, she's good, and
- 1:10:53We have a couch moment where the
- 1:10:55about the neighbors that are going to be attending the party
- 1:10:59and how as long as they don't find out that they're
- 1:11:01polygamists, everything will be fine.
- 1:11:05And they all laugh. And I mean, it is pretty funny
- 1:11:08that, you know, obviously they
- 1:11:10they're having a party for a polygamist families children's
- 1:11:13graduation. So it was lol, you know,
- 1:11:15whatever. After the party prep has reached
- 1:11:19a certain point, we go to Meri's
- 1:11:22actually going to be happening and we are told that they
- 1:11:25actually started the party at 4:00 on time.
- 1:11:28This is one of the few times the Brown family has actually done
- 1:11:35So they're all kind of patting themselves on the back for
- 1:11:38actually starting their party on time.
- 1:11:40I also thought 4:00. OK, so you've had all day to do
- 1:11:44all this setup and whatever, you know, I usually just throw
- 1:11:50single gay man and I'm fabulous. And there are times where I'm
- 1:11:53going, well, you've got till 7:00 before anyone shows up.
- 1:11:55You're fine. And then you're at 6:30 going
- 1:11:57like pulling your hair out and going crazy.
- 1:12:00But there is something about like, yeah, you've had all day
- 1:12:04yourself, I guess. But you probably should be able
- 1:12:06to have a party together by 4:00 if you're working on it
- 1:12:08throughout the day. Yeah, most graduation parties
- 1:12:11are. Earlier than that.
- 1:12:13Earlier than that afternoon, yeah, they usually are like a
- 1:12:17visitation at a funeral where it goes for an extended amount of
- 1:12:24Please. Yeah.
- 1:12:25So I don't know, 4:00 is a little bit of a different time
- 1:12:32Did it? Yeah.
- 1:12:32They had a late start time and they met that start time.
- 1:12:36Leon is surprised that everybody actually came.
- 1:12:39I don't know why you wouldn't know which of your friends are
- 1:12:46showed up to your party. But.
- 1:12:48You know what 1 pro I'm thinking of of having a 4:00 PM
- 1:12:52graduation party is? There's conflicting graduation
- 1:12:57there's two kids as well that they're hosting it for.
- 1:13:00Usually. Like I said, it's almost an open
- 1:13:06And since you all went to the same high school, you literally
- 1:13:08live in the same town so people can drive from graduation party
- 1:13:12to graduation. Party.
- 1:13:13It's it's almost like a parade of homes type of situation.
- 1:13:17And being from the Midwest, oftentimes it's in the garage,
- 1:13:23garage. Easy.
- 1:13:24In and out. Totally.
- 1:13:25Totally. So it could be different in Las
- 1:13:28Vegas, could be more spread out.
- 1:13:30It's probably a larger school district.
- 1:13:32So yeah, we'll give you the benefit of the doubt.
- 1:13:35OK, fine. You're 4:00 PM start time.
- 1:13:39Fine. As the party's happening, we
- 1:13:42quickly transition to the fortune teller.
- 1:13:47You know, we get a few labels for this person.
- 1:13:49I think at the beginning it was referred to as a fortune
- 1:13:52teller. And this fortune teller is
- 1:13:54sitting at a folding table inside the home.
- 1:13:57And this fortune teller is named Mystic Mona.
- 1:14:01They put the fortune teller upstairs, which I find very
- 1:14:08weird. They put the fortune teller in a
- 1:14:13OK, OK, OK. I don't know why, I just found
- 1:14:18give people privacy when they're getting their readings upstairs.
- 1:14:26Yeah, I guess I kind of get it.
- 1:14:28Maybe you wouldn't want to go and get your fortune right in
- 1:14:30front of everybody, but. Right.
- 1:14:32And if they're doing it inside, you know, there's the family
- 1:14:35room, kitchen, the wet bar, it's all, it's all very open and
- 1:14:39whatnot. So it might be kind of loud and
- 1:14:40whatever. So it offers some privacy.
- 1:14:42So she's sitting up in a mystical bedroom on her own,
- 1:14:46waiting for people to come and see her.
- 1:14:50Mystic Mona. Now I think we get Mystic Mona.
- 1:14:54Not to be confused with nipple
- 1:14:56Tassel, Mona, no. You know it's not our favorite,
- 1:14:59Mona. This is that we already know a
- 1:15:00Mona that can see people's futures and is in touch with
- 1:15:04other realms. So you know this Mona's Mystic?
- 1:15:08Moment Imagine my disappointment
- 1:15:11not our Mona wearing a short dark wig, but it was in fact a
- 1:15:17different Mona. Yeah, that short jet black hair
- 1:15:21and that flowy spiritual blouse,
- 1:15:27and the crystal balls on the plastic folding table.
- 1:15:30Now, there was a, you know, there was a tabletop.
- 1:15:34What do they call that? What do you put on a table?
- 1:15:36Tablecloth. So there was a tablecloth on
- 1:15:40this plastic folding table. But also, you know, she's
- 1:15:44working with some cards. We haven't really been well
- 1:15:47introduced. This is the thing about this
- 1:15:49scene that kind of sucks. They don't really introduce us
- 1:15:51to her. It's like all of a sudden she's
- 1:15:53there. She's at a folding table in a
- 1:15:54bedroom upstairs with a tablecloth on a folding table
- 1:15:57with crystal balls, some cards, this jet black hair, hoops and
- 1:16:01a spiritual blouse and. We just start going person to
- 1:16:04person. They don't tell us anything
- 1:16:06about Mystic Mona. She is going to read tarot
- 1:16:10cards. It's also interesting to me that
- 1:16:14this is a very religious family.
- 1:16:16A lot of religions, shall I say, frown upon tarot cards.
- 1:16:21That's a very light way of saying it.
- 1:16:25And they find it witchcraft adjacent and shun it.
- 1:16:29There were a lot of churches that when Harry Potter was
- 1:16:32released, you weren't allowed to read Harry Potter if you were a
- 1:16:35church going child. I may or may not have gone to
- 1:16:40church where Harry Potter was frowned upon, but read it
- 1:16:44anyway. So for them to be having this
- 1:16:48fortune teller, she probably would prefer to be called a
- 1:16:52tarot card reader. Fortune teller is kind of a way
- 1:16:57of putting it lightly, making a a joke out of it almost when
- 1:17:03someone's career is being a tarot card reader or they're
- 1:17:06really into it. So the fact that they don't come
- 1:17:14to me, this. Whole thing it aligns with that
- 1:17:17set up with at the beginning with Robyn saying, you know,
- 1:17:21nothing dark, nothing bad, just something light and fun for the
- 1:17:24kids. Like, OK, I mean, Amen.
- 1:17:25That's that's got to be the perspective in order for her to
- 1:17:28be in the home doing this thing.
- 1:17:29Right. So they're going to avoid even
- 1:17:33saying tarot cards. They don't even mention it at
- 1:17:36all, but that's what she's doing.
- 1:17:38There's literally cards laid out
- 1:17:40they're going to pick. So first up is Aspyn, our
- 1:17:45Mystic, Mona tells Aspyn. There are some friendships you
- 1:17:49need to let go of. The other card is a past life
- 1:17:54card. You aren't supposed to have a
- 1:17:57big love until you have a career.
- 1:18:01You need to contribute to the real world before reproducing.
- 1:18:06Oh, before you procreate. Procreate, which Christine
- 1:18:10applauds because, you know, Christine wants her young
- 1:18:13daughter, her girl going into the, excuse me, woman, going
- 1:18:16into the world to find some success for herself before she,
- 1:18:21you know, just defaults to this,
- 1:18:24story, I guess. We get to the couch with the
- 1:18:27adults and Christine lets us know that Aspyn totally believes
- 1:18:32in this and that she does too.
- 1:18:38fortune teller and so Aspyn's going to believe what she is
- 1:18:42told. Maybe like some other things
- 1:18:45that they have been told that are Mystic beings that they
- 1:18:48believe in. I don't know.
- 1:18:50Fairy tales. Fairy tales.
- 1:18:51Well, Christine definitely believes in some fairy tales.
- 1:18:54Our little fairy Princess. This is where Christine tells
- 1:18:59all of us that a man is not a financial plan.
- 1:19:03That's what some people have been telling Aspyn all along,
- 1:19:08because Aspyn's always talking
- 1:19:12living in a valley and having her clothes on a clothing line
- 1:19:16and canning Peaches and having a
- 1:19:20So, you know, Christine is familiar with what Aspyn is
- 1:19:22talking about with her future.
- 1:19:25from the fortune teller because it's like, yeah, no, get some
- 1:19:27shit in line before you go after
- 1:19:31She's definitely hoping that Aspyn will believe this.
- 1:19:35So I find it very weird that Aspyns goal is to marry a rich
- 1:19:42man and live in a valley. I don't know, I feel like Aspyn
- 1:19:46seems that she would have more
- 1:19:49Yeah. I don't know.
- 1:19:50We don't really get a lot of stuff about Aspyn, so we haven't
- 1:19:54heard a lot from her about her
- 1:19:57and whatever. So it was kind of nice to have
- 1:20:00so much Aspyn in this episode.
- 1:20:02I would be embarrassed if my mom
- 1:20:05life on national television. But that's just me.
- 1:20:09Even if it was my goal, I'd be
- 1:20:12please. I don't know.
- 1:20:16So we move on to our second reading, and Leon is about to be
- 1:20:20read by Mystic Mona. And Mystic Mona says stop second
- 1:20:27guessing yourself. Stop getting everyone else's
- 1:20:31opinion. This is a card showing the man
- 1:20:37you will marry. You won't meet him until about
- 1:20:4024. This man is kind of a jerk when
- 1:20:43you meet him, and he's kind of
- 1:20:48dad. I don't think they give us the
- 1:20:52entire reading because they cut from how Leon needs to stop
- 1:20:56second guessing themself to now this is about the man you're
- 1:21:01going to marry, silly. We're back on the couch with the
- 1:21:07adults where Janelle volunteers.
- 1:21:08She doesn't know how to distract everyone while the other adults
- 1:21:12are getting ready for the flash mob dance that's going to be
- 1:21:16happening soon. We cut to a random bedroom where
- 1:21:28Oh yeah, they're all putting on crazy outfits.
- 1:21:32They're putting blue extension pieces in their hair.
- 1:21:35They make Kody put a blue extension piece in his hair.
- 1:21:38The wives are putting on bright blue glitter eyeshadow.
- 1:21:43They're going all out with their costuming.
- 1:21:47Yeah, like blue eyelashes. Yeah.
- 1:21:50And yeah, just blue gloves, wrist things, all sorts of Boas,
- 1:21:55Feathered Boas glasses, yeah. The whole shebang, they're doing
- 1:22:04And she calls everybody over in the living room.
- 1:22:08Everybody over. I've got a gift to give.
- 1:22:11Leon and Aspyn. I have a combined gift to give
- 1:22:15All right. Yeah.
- 1:22:17Calls it out. Really.
- 1:22:18Weirdly, Yeah, literally. Husband and Leon are approaching
- 1:22:26graduation gift? That's pretty silly.
- 1:22:28We get a voiceover from Kody saying that he doesn't know how
- 1:22:33they're going to be In Sync. We're just hoping for some magic
- 1:22:42Their magical life, they don't
- 1:22:45that magic, but they always seem
- 1:22:48live in. We'll end up In Sync somehow.
- 1:22:51We always do. We always do with a little bit
- 1:22:53of magic. But two, it's his wife's doing
- 1:22:57all the shit and he shows up. That's pretty much.
- 1:23:00What I guess an extension put in
- 1:23:03the back and do his dumb jerky
- 1:23:07that he does. Oh my goodness.
- 1:23:11So we get back to Leon and Aspyn
- 1:23:16voice over, and they're opening the gift that's in this
- 1:23:19beautiful hot pink wrapping paper with Disney princesses,
- 1:23:24which is why I'm pretty sure that this is Christine's idea.
- 1:23:28They're opening the gift and they pull out a piece of wood
- 1:23:33and they're very perturbed by this piece of wood, confused.
- 1:23:39And Janelle says the real gift
- 1:23:44Yeah, as I'm looking at this piece of wood, it's totally a
- 1:23:47WTF moment because it does look like a piece of wood that has.
- 1:23:52Something is written on it. Written with like black sharpie,
- 1:23:55like a word or something. It was hard to make out.
- 1:23:58It was very kind of like a piece
- 1:24:01I'd be confused if I opened that
- 1:24:04distraction. Janelle, AKA Christine, the real
- 1:24:10gift is behind you. And so they turn around and
- 1:24:15Aspyn and the Leon immediately
- 1:24:18on them and they start busting
- 1:24:22And who do we see but Kody, Christine, Meri and Robyn in
- 1:24:26their blue accessories and accoutrement doing bad, bad,
- 1:24:32bad, terrible choreography in the kitchen.
- 1:24:36Literally 12341234 to a dubbed
- 1:24:45about like girls on fire. But it's not girls on fire.
- 1:24:47Like girls doing something, girls here, girls, whatever.
- 1:24:50And it's like oh God, I don't even think that was the original
- 1:24:52song from the episode. They probably had to replace it
- 1:24:54for royalty reason. It can't be the song that they
- 1:24:56actually picked. There's no way it never is in
- 1:24:59these cases. No, no.
- 1:25:02The dance does turn into a real flash mob because the little
- 1:25:06kids start to join in exactly how a flash mob should work.
- 1:25:10And Aspyn says to Leon, I'm going to go, I'm going to do it.
- 1:25:15And Aspyn goes and joins in and reluctantly are your Leon
- 1:25:20decides to Mosey on in there as well.
- 1:25:24So everybody joins the flash mob.
- 1:25:29If I was there, I would look at Leon and say every party needs
- 1:25:32a pooper. That's why we invited you.
- 1:25:35Party pooper. Party Pooper.
- 1:25:38Yeah. After the kids join, the teens
- 1:25:41join, and there's like, the whole groups dancing in the
- 1:25:43kitchen. We have a couch moment from Kody
- 1:25:45where he says that he thinks any
- 1:25:49that their family is a cool family because of this
- 1:25:53experience. And it just reminded me of
- 1:25:56parents that are just out of touch enough like, you know.
- 1:26:00Yeah, it was cool. Everyone was smiling.
- 1:26:02Everyone was having a good time. I'm not sure that any of Aspyn
- 1:26:12graduate, go wherever they're going and be like, dude, I met
- 1:26:19kitchen, like, but, you know, Kody's got to have his showboat
- 1:26:23moment, you know? So there you go.
- 1:26:25It goes to show that Kody really cares what other people think.
- 1:26:34teenagers think that your family is cool and that what you did is
- 1:26:41He has to have everybody like him all the time.
- 1:26:45He's always just thinking about what other people think about
- 1:26:48him. Very strange.
- 1:26:50Aspyn tells us that she thinks putting their parents through
- 1:26:54hell about the dance made them do it even better.
- 1:26:58OK, sounds good. Aspyn's surprised that they
- 1:27:01actually did choreography and says it was fabulous.
- 1:27:06Fabulous. Aspyn's very sweet for saying
- 1:27:09that. I was going to say speaks to
- 1:27:11Aspyn's character for sure, because let's go with that.
- 1:27:14I would be, I would have been embarrassed.
- 1:27:16And I know if I was one of those teenagers that was at the party,
- 1:27:23I'd be like, thank fucking God my family didn't do that at my
- 1:27:29thinking. Yeah.
- 1:27:30Yeah. Because again, you're making
- 1:27:32something about yourselves. Yeah.
- 1:27:34This is your kids graduation party.
- 1:27:36Is this supposed to be some silly gift to them like you're
- 1:27:46want dancing at their party, so you did this to embarrass them
- 1:27:50and be silly. I think there are some moments
- 1:27:53in life where you just got to step back and if your kid says
- 1:27:56they don't want something, you
- 1:27:59and try to do it anyway to make a funny moment out of it.
- 1:28:03It was cringe to me. The whole thing was really
- 1:28:06cringy to me. Yeah, well, the footage was
- 1:28:07definitely cringe as well. Yeah, and it, I didn't really
- 1:28:12put too much weight into it because I was also thinking
- 1:28:14about camera crew lights, the the whole thing.
- 1:28:17Like, it's for production, it's a bit for the show.
- 1:28:22It's still their graduation party.
- 1:28:23I know. That's where I have a hard time
- 1:28:25with this stuff because, yeah, I
- 1:28:29you're acting a little differently and you're doing
- 1:28:31these things to try to liven it up and keep the show around.
- 1:28:35But this is still your children's graduation party.
- 1:28:38Yeah. So I I have a really hard time
- 1:28:41with them because they're trying
- 1:28:45They're trying to keep the show around, so they're doing these
- 1:28:48weird things at the expense of
- 1:28:53I'm reading too much into it, This isn't that the expense of
- 1:28:56their children? I get it.
- 1:28:57It was a hokey dance. They're trying to be funny.
- 1:28:59But at the same time, you're still not honoring your kids
- 1:29:04wishes. And when you're a child, that
- 1:29:06stuff starts to add up. And this could be something
- 1:29:09they're talking about in therapy
- 1:29:12never fucking listened to them, right?
- 1:29:14And it was all about the show all the time and not them.
- 1:29:17Well, after we watched the show,
- 1:29:20our high school graduations that
- 1:29:24where we're going. Well, that was disappointing
- 1:29:26that my parents fill in the blank.
- 1:29:28Yeah. And it wasn't having a camera
- 1:29:31crew and a dance and all this shit.
- 1:29:33It was something different, but it's still in our memories.
- 1:29:36So yeah, after this wonderful opportunity to see the Browns
- 1:29:41doing a flash mob once in a lifetime, it feels like, but
- 1:29:45it's not actually going to be.
- 1:29:50with Mystic Mona upstairs in this bedroom that she's been put
- 1:29:55in upstairs to prevent everyone from, you know, having to see
- 1:29:58it or hear it or, you know, really, I think it is just the
- 1:30:01sound of the party. I really do think that it was,
- 1:30:04you know, it needs to be a little separate.
- 1:30:06We're going to have an opportunity to hear each one of
- 1:30:09the adults have their future ridden through tarot cards by
- 1:30:14this Mystic Mona. And we start with Christine.
- 1:30:19When this scene starts, there's Kody and Meri sitting behind
- 1:30:22Christine. And I was thinking, OK, so why
- 1:30:25are Kody and Christine sitting
- 1:30:29Well, turns out the other wives are just off camera.
- 1:30:31So they are in the room 'cause
- 1:30:33disjointed going through these
- 1:30:36because we, as the show sometimes does, we don't
- 1:30:39necessarily get the best transitions between their
- 1:30:42stories. So all of a sudden or their
- 1:30:44scenes. So all of a sudden it's just
- 1:30:45like this person and this person
- 1:30:48go. Christine says.
- 1:30:49I was real careful picking up the cards.
- 1:30:53I'm not a tarot idiot, which I loved because as you said
- 1:30:57earlier, we didn't really hear anything about tarot.
- 1:31:00But we do actually hear Christine say tarot idiot.
- 1:31:03So she was real careful about picking her cards.
- 1:31:06Mona told her to pick her cards with her left hand because that
- 1:31:10is the hand that is closest to your heart.
- 1:31:14So little tarot insight there for.
- 1:31:18The Tarot Insight. For the tarot idiots out there.
- 1:31:20Now, when Christine said I was
- 1:31:22real careful and that she's not a tarot idiot, it stood out to
- 1:31:26me. I was like, you know, Christine
- 1:31:28was actually funny in this episode.
- 1:31:30And not just that might sound a bit condescending and
- 1:31:33dismissive, but I laughed at her
- 1:31:36She was actually really funny.
- 1:31:40Christine has had her tarot cards read before, especially
- 1:31:44because she says that Aspyn believes the in this stuff and
- 1:31:49that so does she. So we're finding out a little
- 1:31:52bit more about her and maybe some off the cuff weird stuff
- 1:31:58that she does that's outside of the religion.
- 1:32:01Dark Sided. Which is so weird to me because
- 1:32:06with a religion like this, you
- 1:32:09so far out of your scope that you would have nothing to do
- 1:32:13with it. So again, I don't know.
- 1:32:17When reviewing Christine's pulled cards, Mystic Mona says,
- 1:32:22You know these cards. They're saying to me that you're
- 1:32:25surrounded by people, but there's a loneliness there.
- 1:32:30I want you to find a way to erase the loneliness, because
- 1:32:34you're not supposed to let go of
- 1:32:37You're supposed to embrace something new that actually
- 1:32:40makes this more meaningful. That part of it was very true to
- 1:32:46Christine. The last part was a bunch of
- 1:32:50bullshit that could apply to anybody.
- 1:32:52Yeah, that's happens. It's what's happening around
- 1:32:55you. Like, OK, yeah, whatever,
- 1:32:57whatever. We go to the couch with the
- 1:32:59adults here and Christine says
- 1:33:05She really did. She saw my inner soul and Kody
- 1:33:09says, well, you have looked a little bit like a victim for
- 1:33:14this past year, so I'm sorry That and Christine cuts him off
- 1:33:19and goes Oh my God, you cut me
- 1:33:24And Robyn looks shocked that he said this.
- 1:33:28Like cannot believe that he said
- 1:33:31And Kody says the tarot reading could just be about how things
- 1:33:34are right now and that things can change.
- 1:33:39That's one thing that's great about this life.
- 1:33:42You can change your cards. You can change your stars.
- 1:33:46And the wives are all chuckling.
- 1:33:48And I'm going, OK, like that's quite a spin on whatever that
- 1:33:51was. And Christine is mimicking being
- 1:34:04good advice for Mystic Mona. So maybe she also had her rose
- 1:34:12of that or the first half. I don't know.
- 1:34:14Whichever way she's looking at it, you know, 'cause I think if
- 1:34:17you really heard what she said, it was that you're lonely while
- 1:34:21around a bunch of people. That was my take away.
- 1:34:24Now you know, I'm just a viewer of a TLC show in the future, so
- 1:34:28I don't know. I think Christine was trying to
- 1:34:30call out to everybody by saying she saw me in her soul.
- 1:34:33She got me there. Hello everybody, I am feeling a
- 1:34:37lot and hello. Hello.
- 1:34:38Yeah. And instead Kody took it and
- 1:34:43said something really negative to her.
- 1:34:46Yeah, like a victim this whole last.
- 1:34:48Year, You've been looking like a victim this whole past year.
- 1:34:50And she does cut him off. He doesn't finish, but he starts
- 1:35:00have put his foot even further in his fucking mouth if he was
- 1:35:04I can't believe he said that to her.
- 1:35:08And Robyn's face looked exactly how mine would have looked if I
- 1:35:13was in that room. Yeah, he seems to always find a
- 1:35:16way to put her down. He dismisses her.
- 1:35:19Yeah. Yep.
- 1:35:20You looked like the victim. OK.
- 1:35:23That's so supportive of everything that she's been
- 1:35:26through and how she's been feeling, you fucker.
- 1:35:28Yeah, about the gym mats, how he's going to have to be.
- 1:35:31A better husband, and he's going to have to be a better provider
- 1:35:33and he's going to spend time with her kids.
- 1:35:36It's like if your take away from that was feeling comfortable
- 1:35:40enough to say those things on camera, demonstrating how you're
- 1:35:51What? It makes me wonder what type of
- 1:35:54feedback they were getting from the show.
- 1:35:56That was out during this time of filming that he might have been
- 1:36:01angry with her for. Oh yeah, there is also that
- 1:36:05element, the public perception that.
- 1:36:07The audience, what they're saying like you're, you've made
- 1:36:10yourself look like a victim this past year, so.
- 1:36:13Or he's getting bad feedback saying you need to treat
- 1:36:17Christine better from the public or from his other wives, which I
- 1:36:23Maybe he's reading boards somewhere on the TLC website
- 1:36:28that used to be around, you know, they used to have the
- 1:36:31comment boards and even just production talking about what
- 1:36:33the show looks like and the. Direction.
- 1:36:36They want to take things because
- 1:36:38right? Yeah.
- 1:36:41And then their own interpersonal
- 1:36:43So there's multiple. Dynamics happening here.
- 1:36:46His mask has slipped a couple times during this.
- 1:36:48You know he talks about. Meri playing a game and he's
- 1:36:51talking about Christine playing a victim.
- 1:36:55All right, dude, tell us what you really think about these
- 1:36:58women that you're with and I don't know, loves of your life
- 1:37:03or whatever. God so after Christine.
- 1:37:07Mimics being stabbed. We move on to Meri getting her
- 1:37:12cards read. Well, you know what?
- 1:37:15Meri chose this life. It's a little on the nose
- 1:37:22because she does say you've. Actually chosen this life and
- 1:37:25are all in and you inspire the
- 1:37:31And I think back to Meri pulling
- 1:37:36trying to tell her to keep sweet, trying to behind the
- 1:37:42scenes control things a little
- 1:37:48So she kind of hit it on the nose here by saying, well, you
- 1:37:52chose this life and you're all
- 1:37:55Like she's, oh, like I read into
- 1:37:59OK. I totally read into it.
- 1:38:01Like, oh, yeah, Meri is the one that's kind of before Robyn
- 1:38:06came into the family was probably the one inspiring
- 1:38:10things, you know? And then she goes like you said.
- 1:38:16Couple of health things that you
- 1:38:20and you need to take them seriously and prioritize them.
- 1:38:24Interesting read considering that Meri only has one.
- 1:38:28Biochild in the family? That was my first thought was
- 1:38:32Meri only has one kid. Not that it doesn't, you know.
- 1:38:36Not saying that Meri shouldn't
- 1:38:39but interesting read. Wondering what Mystic Mona knows
- 1:38:43about the family, if anything really 'cause it's interesting
- 1:38:48that Meri would get that told to
- 1:38:51Kody mentions this after Janelle's reading, but Kody says
- 1:38:54I think that she. Was reading all my wives and
- 1:38:56getting them confused. Yeah, mixing them up and I think
- 1:39:01there's. Something of that going on.
- 1:39:02And whether you believe in tarot
- 1:39:06read people's auras or sense things about people, if you
- 1:39:10are in a room with that much energy, if you'd believe in
- 1:39:15this, I could picture that happening because there's a
- 1:39:18lot of strong personalities and there's a lot of tension and
- 1:39:24feelings that you'd be picking up on.
- 1:39:27If she does know things about the family, technically the kids
- 1:39:33So yeah, that would be my general assumption if she didn't
- 1:39:38children and whatever is that? There's going to be a couple
- 1:39:41children that have health issues and that should really be your
- 1:39:45Well, that would freak me the fuck out.
- 1:39:47I'd be like. Yeah, tell me more, please.
- 1:39:50And Meri is skeptical and. Her skepticism is, you know, on
- 1:39:55a rational level, well founded because this is a little bit of
- 1:40:00a, OK, whatever. And it's not surprising to me
- 1:40:02that Meri's sitting on the couch being like, I'm just skeptical
- 1:40:09Not buying it at all. We move on to Janelle next, and
- 1:40:15hers is short and sweet, Mona says.
- 1:40:18Kody, you keep coming up in her cards reversed.
- 1:40:23Did you 2 have a fight recently? She was like, no, no.
- 1:40:31No. And that's what Kody says, the
- 1:40:38some other fight that he's probably referencing in his back
- 1:40:43Yeah. At least one of you has had a
- 1:40:46fight recently. That would be.
- 1:40:47An easy thing to call out, right?
- 1:40:49This is, if you do believe in this, where she could have been
- 1:40:56reading energy and reading, you know, other stuff going on.
- 1:41:00I'll tell you, when Meri was sitting behind Christine during
- 1:41:04Christine's reading, she was sitting there, arms crossed,
- 1:41:07looking off, pissed to be there. Probably pissed that she wasn't
- 1:41:12down at Leon's party with Leon. Had to be up there for this
- 1:41:16moment with everybody else or the other wives.
- 1:41:18Why do I have to be up there for theirs, You know?
- 1:41:22So there was probably some bad juju floating around in that
- 1:41:26room. Yeah, that was totally part of
- 1:41:31And Kody behind Christine when she was getting her cards read
- 1:41:37unpleasant and it was literally distracting as a viewer.
- 1:41:40They obviously had everybody in the room, the production team.
- 1:41:51So she was probably forced to be sitting there and mad about it.
- 1:41:56Yeah, totally, definitely.
- 1:41:57Well then, our favorite sister
- 1:41:59Is up next Robyn? Is sitting at the plastic.
- 1:42:01Folding table with Mystic Mona.
- 1:42:03And oh, Mystic Mona gives her a doozy.
- 1:42:06Well, I shouldn't say a doozy her.
- 1:42:08Her cards are telling Mona a story that we all believe
- 1:42:13completely, that Robyn has always had the blessings of the
- 1:42:18universe falling upon her. It's like you've always been
- 1:42:22able to make things happen and you always will.
- 1:42:25There's no worry about money. When you worry about money, you
- 1:42:30cut the flow of money off and you know that you're just giving
- 1:42:37about it. Her favorite thing to do?
- 1:42:40Of all the things that could be talked about with Robyn, it's
- 1:42:43money. And, you know, it just so
- 1:42:46happens that Robyn agrees about two of the cards, the ones she's
- 1:42:52She points it to the cards and says, I know I have these, and I
- 1:42:58All of a sudden, Robyn knows things.
- 1:43:00Yes. She knows about the tarot, and
- 1:43:01she knows these cards are hers.
- 1:43:03Yeah. Of course, all of these wives
- 1:43:06seem to be. Very well not.
- 1:43:08All of them. Robyn and Christine are very
- 1:43:10weirdly knowledgeable. Robyn's the one that suggested
- 1:43:14Heretics maybe? I don't know.
- 1:43:16Interesting. Joseph, come and Smite.
- 1:43:19Them. From beyond the grave, oh Lord,
- 1:43:25Oh my God. I didn't die next to a well so
- 1:43:32your tarot cards, you heretics. Dark Sided Robyn in an interview
- 1:43:40Was a single mom while I was alone, I was very careful.
- 1:43:46I had little money. I had to make sure all the bills
- 1:43:54They show a picture of her and a teeny tiny baby, like she was a
- 1:43:58single mom with the baby. And then Robyn says I always had
- 1:44:09the biggest WTF moments of all. The WTF moments in this episode.
- 1:44:15tucked away somewhere. Interesting narrative given that
- 1:44:22you were the one who had the biggest financial issues when
- 1:44:26you were looking at buying a home.
- 1:44:27Your biggest sob story is about how, well of course you know
- 1:44:30the flash of the photo as you referenced Was Robyn, a single
- 1:44:34mother with a newborn baby. I don't think we are of the
- 1:44:38impression that that was the case, no.
- 1:44:39What the fuck was that And her
- 1:44:43Have always been such a thing and.
- 1:44:45She's had so many last names and
- 1:44:49issues and blah blah blah blah
- 1:44:51Debt, debt, debt, bad credit, bad credit, all these things.
- 1:44:54Yet her take away based on this tarot card readers, I don't
- 1:44:58know what is it called reading of the cards is that she's
- 1:45:03good at something with money and she's always got money.
- 1:45:05Money will be fine as long as she doesn't stress about money.
- 1:45:07And Robyn is basically agreeing.
- 1:45:10This whole thing is such a joke and.
- 1:45:13This is where this tarot card reader completely lost me and
- 1:45:17lost all credibility with me because this is the woman that
- 1:45:28creditors. She had to pay somebody to help
- 1:45:31her consolidate her credit and call creditors and beg them to
- 1:45:52single mom. She wasn't a single mom with a
- 1:45:55tiny baby ever, right? She was married at that point.
- 1:46:01They're trying to paint her like
- 1:46:06Whoever was on the editing team,
- 1:46:13You tried, you tried and you failed.
- 1:46:15Yeah, now we all know the fucking truth.
- 1:46:17So. For her to say I had.
- 1:46:18To make sure all the bills were paid.
- 1:46:22How is your credit ruined if all
- 1:46:24Her narrative is clearly never
- 1:46:28I learned how to save money. Doesn't she say in the previous
- 1:46:31episodes that she. Was like paycheck to paycheck
- 1:46:33and had no money. Yeah.
- 1:46:35You learned how to save money,
- 1:46:38Yeah. She probably had $100 in a sock
- 1:46:40drawer. Like honey.
- 1:46:41That's not exactly. Like I just, I doubt that even I
- 1:46:45doubt that she cannot help. Herself.
- 1:46:47This woman cannot help herself.
- 1:46:48She just gets to have this be part of her story now and it
- 1:46:52works for whatever narrative. She's trying to spend.
- 1:46:54She changes it constantly. Yeah, well now the.
- 1:46:57Patriarch of the family gets. To sit with Mystic Mona at the
- 1:47:04Mystic Mona reads. That there's a card saying that.
- 1:47:10wife. We have to have the dramatic
- 1:47:13sound effect come in after the
- 1:47:17Literally, it's a plastic table,
- 1:47:22And Mystic Mona continues that
- 1:47:25you're interested in, another soul mate, a partnership,
- 1:47:31somebody in your crosshairs. Oh.
- 1:47:33Yeah, the crosshairs hunting, he's totally.
- 1:47:37Yes. That language.
- 1:47:39Definitely invokes the hunting
- 1:47:41Yeah, and another moment where
- 1:47:44Well, right. And of course, he's Kody, so
- 1:47:48he's got a. Look on his face like I'm
- 1:47:50neither going to confirm nor deny.
- 1:47:51I'm just going to sit here with this little smirk on my face
- 1:47:54like, hey, you know, if it makes
- 1:47:56woman, if it makes it look like there's another woman that's
- 1:47:59potentially around the corner,
- 1:48:03I'm just going to sit here looking like this if it causes
- 1:48:05chaos for the show and keeps you
- 1:48:08Longer, sure, I'm going to sit
- 1:48:11it pisses my wives or not. And if it pisses them off, even
- 1:48:14better. Kody, you are disgusting.
- 1:48:17Yeah, we go to the couch and Robyn is talking about how.
- 1:48:21Women are coming up to him all
- 1:48:24looking for another wife. Like they're offering themselves
- 1:48:27because she knows they're not thinking about friends.
- 1:48:31They're not going to suggest a
- 1:48:33They're talking about themselves.
- 1:48:36And I loved Janelle during this because Janelle's playing with
- 1:48:41her foot on the table, on the coffee table and kind of
- 1:48:45nonchalantly says under her breath, It doesn't mean that
- 1:48:50every woman that says that is really after him.
- 1:48:54Yeah. I mean, most people would be
- 1:48:55joking, right? I mean, how many people are
- 1:48:57seriously. Being like, no, I'm offering
- 1:49:00myself to you, Kody. Sacrificial lamb.
- 1:49:02No, he's so full of himself. I think he really, truly does
- 1:49:06think. That they mean it.
- 1:49:07Yeah. And Janelle's trying to put him
- 1:49:09down a peg here and be like, hello.
- 1:49:12Delusional much? They don't all really think
- 1:49:14that. And for Robyn to be backing it
- 1:49:16up. Oh, those two, They're peas.
- 1:49:18In a pod. It's disgusting.
- 1:49:21We have to return to Leon and Aspyn's graduation party,
- 1:49:24obviously. Duh.
- 1:49:26That's what this episode's about.
- 1:49:28The flash mob and the party and Kody announces that they're
- 1:49:32going to be opening presents. So cool.
- 1:49:38I'm imagining being at this party.
- 1:49:39And of. Course, this could be out of
- 1:49:41sequence, but what if they literally went up and filmed
- 1:49:45that scene while everyone was down there, just Hemming and
- 1:49:48hawing and waiting for whatever,
- 1:49:50downstairs to open gifts after
- 1:49:52I'm hoping that actually wasn't the case.
- 1:49:53I'm hoping they filmed with Mona
- 1:49:57wouldn't surprise me if they didn't.
- 1:49:59It was before the flash mob because the wives didn't have
- 1:50:02the makeup on. Their faces and I don't think
- 1:50:05they would have gotten all that off their faces and redone
- 1:50:07their makeup for that segment,
- 1:50:11So I think that it was way earlier.
- 1:50:13Yeah, I wonder if. She was there before the party.
- 1:50:16She wasn't there before the. Party holistically because there
- 1:50:19were other people while the kids
- 1:50:23read. So there were party guests in
- 1:50:25the room while Aspyn and Leon were getting their cards read,
- 1:50:29but not with the adults. I mean, I'm going to guess that
- 1:50:32there was some sort of delay at some point while they're
- 1:50:34filming this shit. And imagine being at that party,
- 1:50:36being like, yeah, and production
- 1:50:39because they all need to be there for the.
- 1:50:41Flash mob part of the show? Yeah, very weird.
- 1:50:44Another filming day. That's their graduation party.
- 1:50:48Gross. Yeah.
- 1:50:49And Kody has to get up. And call everybody's attention
- 1:50:54that they're going to be opening
- 1:50:56So Kody has to stand up and announce this to everybody.
- 1:50:59So yeah, leave it up to him to
- 1:51:03attention for a second. Again, another thing I noted
- 1:51:06here is. That it is very.
- 1:51:08Odd at a graduation party to make everyone watch you open
- 1:51:11gifts. Yeah, I was just.
- 1:51:12I don't think I've ever seen that.
- 1:51:14No. Usually.
- 1:51:15It would be a table of gifts, yeah.
- 1:51:18So you probably could have let
- 1:51:21gifts as a family afterwards. Well, Leon gets a photo album.
- 1:51:26Very touching, very touching. Meri.
- 1:51:28Gives Leon a photo album and Leon's like oh it's so cute and
- 1:51:31blah blah blah and who cares? A scrapbook, Chris.
- 1:51:34Oh, a scrapbook. Meri made that.
- 1:51:36With her blood, sweat and tears.
- 1:51:38How dare you call it a photo album.
- 1:51:40I know you're right. I'm such an insensitive man, she
- 1:51:46and she. Put that together, I do feel
- 1:51:49like on one of the pages I even saw the.
- 1:51:53Word something like rebel or you know, some word that was like,
- 1:51:59And it was like, this person is absolutely not that, but OK.
- 1:52:04Flipped through the magazine and found a heading that was like,
- 1:52:09OK, here we are. Imagine Meri in her craft room
- 1:52:16Just making this yeah I'm so
- 1:52:19sorry. I called it a photo album.
- 1:52:20All of you crafters and including.
- 1:52:22My Co host Kimber, I do apologize.
- 1:52:24That was insensitive. Thank you, very insensitive.
- 1:52:27I accept your apology this time on behalf of everyone.
- 1:52:31Yes. Spin gets a blanket.
- 1:52:36That Mckelty made, Yes. And it's cute.
- 1:52:40OK, It's red with big. White polka dots and what?
- 1:52:46Looked like gene material on the
- 1:52:50All I saw was the gene material and I was.
- 1:52:54It was interesting. At a loss for words, it was.
- 1:52:56Interesting. It looked heavy.
- 1:52:59It did well it. Looked really heavy.
- 1:53:01It definitely looked like. It weighed a.
- 1:53:04Lot, yeah. While this is happening, though,
- 1:53:06Kody has a voiceover where he was talking about how cute Leon
- 1:53:10and Aspyn were when they were little and that they were the
- 1:53:13same age. You know, they're both one of
- 1:53:15the oldest ones. There's Logan and then Aspyn and
- 1:53:18Leon and how they were just so
- 1:53:22And I thought that was, I did like that they kept that in.
- 1:53:27It was a little humanizing, but he said they were kind of like
- 1:53:30twins and they played together
- 1:53:33When? They were little and did
- 1:53:34everything together and I could see that sweet alignment with
- 1:53:39them having their graduation party.
- 1:53:41Together. Now if it was me, I would have
- 1:53:43been a little pissed that I had to share a graduation party
- 1:53:45with. Somebody.
- 1:53:46But I bet that Leon was like, what the fuck?
- 1:53:49But Aspyn seems like a very kind
- 1:53:52Probably wasn't. Aspyn Probably didn't give it a
- 1:53:54second thought. Yeah.
- 1:53:56After Kody's voice over, we also
- 1:53:58Over from Christine. Where she talks about how she is
- 1:54:02a better parent to her younger
- 1:54:05that she recognizes that kids need to learn more lessons on
- 1:54:08their own as she's gotten older and had more experience as the
- 1:54:14parent on this podcast, What did
- 1:54:19Yeah, she says that she's gotten
- 1:54:23And that these milestones, these
- 1:54:27kids need to be doing at certain
- 1:54:30anymore like she did at 1st. And I have to say that is the
- 1:54:36mindset of a mom with multiple, multiple children.
- 1:54:39Oh, yeah. Because even I have two kids
- 1:54:42with the second. There have definitely been
- 1:54:44things that I have let go, haven't cared about, but it was,
- 1:54:50yeah, from experience and growing and realizing, OK, if
- 1:54:53they do that, XY and Z is not going to happen.
- 1:54:56Their world's not going to end.
- 1:54:58It's fine. But the vibe I was getting from
- 1:55:02it was a little more hands off with the younger ones.
- 1:55:05And I don't think that's necessarily a good thing and
- 1:55:09that you're learning and doing better.
- 1:55:12There was a disconnect for me hot off the heels of hearing
- 1:55:16about. How Aspyn basically runs
- 1:55:19Christine's household is how they were really teeing up that
- 1:55:23earlier footage and they demonstrated it and we've heard
- 1:55:26about it and it does not go away in the sense of their
- 1:55:31story. It's told long into the future
- 1:55:33that Aspyn was really doing a lot of shit for Christine.
- 1:55:36So for her to have this perspective, yeah, it's like
- 1:55:40there's good and bad with it or something.
- 1:55:42Like you got to be more laid back because you had built in
- 1:55:44help with. Your older children, but Mckelty
- 1:55:48is essentially no help at all.
- 1:55:53episode of Mckelty causing more chaos or allowing chaos to
- 1:55:58happen when she's supposed to be
- 1:56:01This is another thing I struggle
- 1:56:03I just think the more and more
- 1:56:06you're able to give to each child and it's kind of unfair.
- 1:56:10I don't mean to shame large families.
- 1:56:13Everybody is different and every
- 1:56:17Personally, two kids I feel stretched thin at times and I
- 1:56:23feel bad if one is crying and needs my attention for something
- 1:56:26and I can't get to the other one
- 1:56:29as much at the same time. But I, I don't know, everybody's
- 1:56:34so different. So I don't want to judge people
- 1:56:37with large families in general, but I think that there is some
- 1:56:42sort of selfishness and people
- 1:56:45to continue to have kids because
- 1:56:51not going to have the time for
- 1:56:52Well, and as someone who is not a parent, I think about myself
- 1:56:55having 2. Younger brothers and my middle
- 1:56:58brother and I always commiserate
- 1:57:02rib our youngest brother because
- 1:57:06so much like and, and, and it goes down.
- 1:57:08It's like trickle down. I say it to my middle brother,
- 1:57:11you got away with so much shit.
- 1:57:12And we both say it to my youngest brother.
- 1:57:14You got away with so much shit. And that's from the perspective
- 1:57:18of, you know, being punished for things and whatever is
- 1:57:21usually our default and our bro conversations.
- 1:57:23But it's more than that. It's my youngest brother had
- 1:57:29less oversight and less direction and less yadda, yadda,
- 1:57:40And like I've said before, when it got time for me to go to
- 1:57:43college, it was like, well, we've been there, done that.
- 1:57:46Like, what do you want to do? We already got one off good
- 1:57:49here. Like, what's up with you?
- 1:57:50What's up with you? Yeah.
- 1:57:52And that is with two kids. And that is.
- 1:57:55Just the reality. Of it, there's this guy whose
- 1:57:58books I've listened to, his name is Gabbar Matte and he has this
- 1:58:04segment on a podcast that he was on that I've listened to and
- 1:58:10he talks about how every child has different parents.
- 1:58:14You have the same parents, but they are different because like
- 1:58:19a job, you do learn more with each child.
- 1:58:23So you are going to parent different with each child and
- 1:58:27every sibling has a different set of parents.
- 1:58:31Every child has a different perspective on how they were
- 1:58:35raised. The parents are at a different
- 1:58:48and Kody are AT when they have Solomon Solomon and they're
- 1:58:55completely, Kody's a completely different parent with every
- 1:58:59single one of his kids. You know, it's, it's mind
- 1:59:02blowing to me when I think of that.
- 1:59:04And I have had to have discussions with my sister about
- 1:59:11to understand the other one's childhood experience.
- 1:59:14You just can't. There's no way.
- 1:59:16And we were three years apart. I don't know.
- 1:59:20I don't like that Christine says this because.
- 1:59:24To me it just. Kind of feels like a throwaway,
- 1:59:28but it does mean something more and paralleled with my ask about
- 1:59:38feel is my head. Scratch my chin, scratch my
- 1:59:43flavor saver, scratch about why this is even in here at all.
- 1:59:48Why is this even in this episode?
- 1:59:49I mean, OK, you're at your oldest child's graduation party.
- 1:59:56why production even kept us in.
- 1:59:58It just seems misplaced. It seems almost.
- 2:00:00When I was observing it as a viewer, it felt almost a bit
- 2:00:04insensitive and I don't even know what that means.
- 2:00:06It just felt like why is this here and why are we going down
- 2:00:12mom with the graduating kid. To say something at the end to
- 2:00:20clip they pulled for her wrap up because it is the doesn't sit
- 2:00:28right. Absolutely, they should have
- 2:00:30used something from Christine where it was talking about her.
- 2:00:33Experience with Aspyn
- 2:00:34specifically, it's Aspyn's graduation party.
- 2:00:37It's Leon's graduation party. So now we're going to get Leon
- 2:00:41opening a gift from Meri that we've already talked about in a
- 2:00:44previous episode. And then we get Meri talking
- 2:00:47about Leon. And it's like that connection
- 2:00:50did not happen here with this bit from Christine.
- 2:00:52So production really fucked her with this in my opinion,
- 2:00:54because this is completely misplaced and seems a bit
- 2:00:58insensitive and. Weird.
- 2:00:59Because Aspyn opens a gift. That's a blanket made by Mckel
- 2:01:05from Meri, which is the blanket that Meri made.
- 2:01:08The quilt, honey, the quilt, the quilt.
- 2:01:11Remember, they went. To that store with all the
- 2:01:13quilts. On the walls.
- 2:01:14Oh my God. And it is a quilt.
- 2:01:17It is a quilt. There are pictures.
- 2:01:19On it, yes there are photo covered.
- 2:01:21Quilt but thank God there are family photos this.
- 2:01:24Time and not head shots. Of each family member, Meri has
- 2:01:28done a better job. At crafting a.
- 2:01:31Quilt then. Robyn's sister, who apparently
- 2:01:36in my humble opinion. This one is purple and yellow,
- 2:01:43Westminster colors. But we went to that store with
- 2:01:47And, you know, I'm sure Leon put it on the wall just like Logan
- 2:01:55does not masturbate while looking at it.
- 2:01:57So, you know, I felt it was a beauteous moment and it just
- 2:02:01really touched me in places where I hope Leon never touches
- 2:02:04themselves. This is a gift that a.
- 2:02:09Grandma would love to get with their grandkids photos on it.
- 2:02:13This is not a gift for a child graduating from high school.
- 2:02:17Thank you. It's not even that.
- 2:02:19Yeah, it might be a hideous. Quilt.
- 2:02:21I mean a beautiful quilt. It's that.
- 2:02:23Who are you giving this to? You're giving this to a 1718
- 2:02:26year old going out to college. Like no, no, no, no, no.
- 2:02:28You give it to grandma. You are so right.
- 2:02:31I've said weird 1000 times this episode because as per usual.
- 2:02:35It's weird, it's weird, it's weird shit.
- 2:02:38It totally is. I don't know what to say.
- 2:02:41Who the? Fuck would think that an. 18
- 2:02:42year old kid would want this and to take this off to college with
- 2:02:49It's great and whatever and that could be a stock response at a
- 2:02:55what they actually thought. It's just not a gift to give an
- 2:02:5818 year old is a quilt with a bunch of family photos on it.
- 2:03:01If that's what you're thinking of doing for your child, just
- 2:03:04reconsider please. So think of other options.
- 2:03:07Google it. What should I get my kid when
- 2:03:08they're going to college? Look.
- 2:03:09At that list and pick something. Don't do this as someone who is
- 2:03:13raised in the Catholic religion.
- 2:03:15And was taught that God is watching.
- 2:03:18God sees all. I would have gone off to
- 2:03:21college. I would have taken that quote.
- 2:03:23I would put the faces down so that the backside was up because
- 2:03:26I wouldn't want to hurt my parents feelings.
- 2:03:29And then every time that I was
- 2:03:32diddling myself, I would think
- 2:03:35watching what was happening under the covers.
- 2:03:37And so was Jesus. And oh Lord my God, no Jesus and
- 2:03:44Jesus and. Sister.
- 2:03:46Your sister. We've been watching, yeah.
- 2:03:49I'd be looking down. I'd be lifting the blanket.
- 2:03:52Up making eye contact with my family members on the blanket,
- 2:03:55putting it back down, looking it
- 2:04:00shame. I'm so glad my parents gave me a
- 2:04:06all of their faces on it. Because I never masturbated
- 2:04:09thinking about my family looking at that night stand.
- 2:04:12Absolutely not. Oh my God.
- 2:04:14Yep. And I still had some of that
- 2:04:16Christian shame. It just.
- 2:04:17Was in a night. Stand.
- 2:04:18This is why I'll never do well fun a shelf.
- 2:04:22I don't want my kids to think that anything is watching them
- 2:04:28Don't do that to your children. It's awful.
- 2:04:30Oh God. And as we were talking about the
- 2:04:36right is had Christine with this unfortunate moment and then Meri
- 2:04:44Did you have anything? It was something that every
- 2:04:48single. Parent would say cookie cutter
- 2:04:58downs for Leon and Aspyn but they'll get through it.
- 2:05:02And she ends by saying they're off on a new adventure.
- 2:05:07And I'm so proud of them both. Oh, the places you'll go.
- 2:05:13Oh, the places you'll go. Yes, that's so heartful.
- 2:05:18Oh, you know, right. And then to literally wrap up
- 2:05:22the. Episode There's upbeat music
- 2:05:23with. Cliche, wrap up, yon yon yon.
- 2:05:25I fell asleep, yadda yadda yadda.
- 2:05:27It was just, I don't even know, I guess we got a flash mob in
- 2:05:32this episode. So that was a thing.
- 2:05:34Yeah. Not the kind I was hoping for.
- 2:05:40For us, wow, I'd have preferred that kind of flash mob.
- 2:05:47Cue the Janelle distraction I'm here to keep.
- 2:05:51Sweet honey knocks Robyn. In the face as she's opening her
- 2:06:04serious now. Honey, it's the end of our
- 2:06:06episode, our wrap up. Now we're not going to be as
- 2:06:09cliche as Meri or as awful as what Christine was given from
- 2:06:12these producers for our wrap up. We're going to do our keep
- 2:06:15sweet. But first, mustard seed and shit
- 2:06:31That was a threat, not a promise.
- 2:06:33I am going to give my mustard seed to Aspyn.
- 2:06:41I think Aspyn seems very well-rounded after this episode.
- 2:06:50Yeah, not as wonderful, but adjacent.
- 2:06:54Getting there, I appreciated that Aspyn was helping prepare
- 2:07:00for their party and having a moment with Christine making
- 2:07:07stuff in their cute little aprons.
- 2:07:10That was a nice moment and I hope if they watch moments back
- 2:07:16in the show, those are the types
- 2:07:20towards is memories and the good
- 2:07:24the show. Because if I could rewatch a
- 2:07:27moment like that from when I was
- 2:07:31heartwarming. And it has been just overall
- 2:07:34seems very chill, down to earth and has been a rock for her
- 2:07:39mom. And Christina's obviously had
- 2:07:41some struggles. I think Christina's probably had
- 2:07:52of the times we're talking about it a little bit more at
- 2:07:55that time. But I think that Christine, and
- 2:07:58I don't want to presume too much about her mental health,
- 2:08:03but I do believe that Christine has needed Aspyn for
- 2:08:08things. And Aspyn is been there for her
- 2:08:13mom in more ways than she should
- 2:08:17So I don't know, without getting
- 2:08:21we know that they've parentified
- 2:08:24extent. And Aspyn getting my mustard
- 2:08:29seed for carrying on. And while I always struggle with
- 2:08:35Christine Brown. She is getting my mustard seed
- 2:08:38this episode. Little shocked there.
- 2:08:41Well, because Christine made. She.
- 2:08:45Just made me chuckle so much this episode.
- 2:08:47I thought she was very funny in her couch moments.
- 2:08:49She was self deprecating, she was humorous and multiple
- 2:08:54facets. And I like the way that she was
- 2:08:59kind of picking on people when
- 2:09:02itself. And although towards the end I
- 2:09:07did feel a little sour about her, I kind of feel like that
- 2:09:11was production driven and choices that were made by
- 2:09:14editors that I thought were not good.
- 2:09:17So I'm giving Christine my mustard seed.
- 2:09:19And Christine, you should be very happy about that because
- 2:09:22you barely deserve it. But you made me laugh a lot, so
- 2:09:25I'm going to give it to you now.
- 2:09:28Shit stain, honey, shit stain. My shit stain is definitely
- 2:09:32going to Kody. For the comment that he made
- 2:09:36about Meri playing games at her one child's graduation, Meri did
- 2:09:45But Kody, instead of handling it like the head of the household
- 2:10:07He also had to make comments about the feminine dance moves
- 2:10:20dance moves. Everything kind of comes back to
- 2:10:29I don't understand why, unless you have fragile masculinity,
- 2:10:33why that's a theme for you that comes up all the time.
- 2:10:36Yeah. Why are you so worried about
- 2:10:38that? Concerned.
- 2:10:39Yeah. Yeah.
- 2:10:40It comes up so often with him like.
- 2:10:43He brings up the. Term masculine or misogynistic
- 2:10:56obviously on his mind frequently and he's.
- 2:10:59Got 4 wives. And he's referenced frequently.
- 2:11:01That he prefers the company of
- 2:11:03women. So it's like, why are you so
- 2:11:05hung up on being masculine? There's something there.
- 2:11:08There is some insecurity there.
- 2:11:11And on top of it, when the tarot card reader said that he was
- 2:11:18going to have a fifth wife, he didn't shoot that down and say
- 2:11:29Yeah, he let it lie. Yeah, he let it lie.
- 2:11:32Exactly. He let it sit.
- 2:11:33There. That dirty?
- 2:11:35Doug Kody Brown. Yeah, he's just annoying, as per
- 2:11:39I think I'm giving it to Meri. Robyn had a redeeming quality
- 2:11:44with the whole. Kody, get it together, get it
- 2:11:46together. Come on now.
- 2:11:48And that's rare for me to Meri was very upset at the
- 2:11:55graduation, and while I can understand why you would be
- 2:11:59upset about where you were sitting in a place, it wasn't
- 2:12:04going to take a effort similar to moving mountains to move
- 2:12:08seats. And her overreaction to
- 2:12:10everything is just hard to watch it.
- 2:12:13It makes it hard for me to empathize with her because I'm
- 2:12:19Yeah, she's just always upset about everything.
- 2:12:22And. Then I I feel like I'm just
- 2:12:24having also tie insurance to previous episodes with their the
- 2:12:31And it's like you are causing a scene in public expressing
- 2:12:35yourself quite well. I mean, do I agree with your
- 2:12:38expressions? I think they're a bit
- 2:12:40outlandish, but you are clearly capable of expressing how you
- 2:12:43feel. And so your whole thing of I
- 2:12:45don't know, I can't express myself.
- 2:12:46You clearly can. You're just doing it loudly with
- 2:12:54Leon, with Kody, the baby decision thing.
- 2:12:56I'm over it. Why did they have to go to a
- 2:12:59bedroom to have this discussion? Why are they sitting on the bed?
- 2:13:05Leon, who is going off to college right before their high
- 2:13:09school graduation party? Needs to be coddled.
- 2:13:12Like a six year old or a 12 year
- 2:13:18Meri just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
- 2:13:20And also overall, I've said this
- 2:13:24I want to be a Meri fan. I want to support Meri.
- 2:13:27I like Meri. No, I hate Meri.
- 2:13:30See, this is it, Meri. Yeah.
- 2:13:32Fucking Meri. Fucking Meri.
- 2:13:35Our keep sweet moment this week.
- 2:13:37Is from. Tonya Carter who I think we've
- 2:13:44This is for a YouTube comment
- 2:13:46that Tonya Carter has left on our season 6 episode 11 rewatch
- 2:13:51of the sister wives tell all that just came out recently.
- 2:13:55Now Tonya. OK, Tonya, I'm reading this.
- 2:13:57OK, Tonya, I'm ready. Tanya, if you're listening to
- 2:14:03this, you know why I'm going. Brace.
- 2:14:05Yourself people, all right. So this one's this one's along,
- 2:14:08and it's good. It's good.
- 2:14:10Watching the Tell alls now, the lies are so obvious they might
- 2:14:15as well have come with a TLC Chiron for entertainment
- 2:14:18purposes only. It was painfully clear that they
- 2:14:21were pimping themselves out for TLC money, Mormon style.
- 2:14:25Don't ask, don't tell, but here's our bank routing number
- 2:14:29for direct deposit. So good.
- 2:14:32And the fact that all of these
- 2:14:36who apparently possessed the rare survival instinct, put up
- 2:14:39with his absolute bullshit for
- 2:14:43Diabolical. At some point it stops being a
- 2:14:46marriage and starts looking like
- 2:14:50investment. And Christine living directly
- 2:14:53across from Robyn. Oh please.
- 2:14:57Christine sitting in that office
- 2:15:00day, staring out the window and stewing in her mock tapioca
- 2:15:04feelings while Robyn's house is literally right there.
- 2:15:08That wasn't a cul-de-sac, that
- 2:15:11psychological warfare. Boom.
- 2:15:15Wow. Oh my gosh, Tanya.
- 2:15:18OK, so you. Gave us this.
- 2:15:20You gave us this. This was a gift.
- 2:15:22This was literally a keep sweet moment.
- 2:15:25Thank you. I recognized when reading this
- 2:15:28comment that I have been a fool.
- 2:15:30I have been an idiot because in a recent episode I was talking
- 2:15:37Why are you all so concerned with Sharon fucking driveways in
- 2:15:47house. Christine's was the library.
- 2:15:49Remember the happy accident with
- 2:15:51So there's a library. Well, Christine's in there on
- 2:15:54her computer, quote UN quote, working all day as Tanya has
- 2:15:57pointed out. What was she working on?
- 2:16:00Who knows what she was working
- 2:16:02computer all day glancing out that front window and she gets a
- 2:16:05view of all of the other wives
- 2:16:08And does she see Kody going from
- 2:16:11I don't know if she does. Does she just see Kody at
- 2:16:13Robyn's house and that's that?
- 2:16:18must say. And very well written.
- 2:16:20Yes, very well written. And that is one thing.
- 2:16:24That I was noting during this episode is them whoring
- 2:16:28themselves out for the show, taking over their kids
- 2:16:31graduation party to do some dumb
- 2:16:37thing for the show. Did the children want that?
- 2:16:42No, and maybe if they didn't care at the time, looking back,
- 2:16:46you'd be. Like this was bullshit.
- 2:16:48Yeah, total bullshit. One thing I forgot to bring up
- 2:16:51earlier. Is that?
- 2:16:52At the graduation party, I did
- 2:16:58We got a cameo. Well, she was back by the wet
- 2:17:00bar. She was standing.
- 2:17:02By the wet bar just. Observing the kids getting their
- 2:17:04gifts and being a lovely participant in their graduation
- 2:17:08party and it just made Mystic Mona feel wrong to me.
- 2:17:14I We love our Mona. We love our Mona.
- 2:17:17Do you think that our Mona got
- 2:17:21By Mystic Mona and that we're living in an alternate reality
- 2:17:24because they came together in one room.
- 2:17:28What do you think? That the world exploded when
- 2:17:32they got in the same room? I think neither you nor I exist
- 2:17:35anymore and I think anyone listening to the show.
- 2:17:37No longer exists and this is all
- 2:17:40imagination because Mona and Mystic Mona collided.
- 2:17:45I don't know if we're even in reality anymore.
- 2:17:47This is it. I don't know what.
- 2:17:48Happened, but we might all be ghosts.
- 2:17:51The Browns no longer exist. We no longer exist.
- 2:17:53This show doesn't exist. And you don't exist.
- 2:17:57Goodbye.
