- 0:02Speaker 1: Breaking news top of the show in the broadcast and
- 0:07Speaker 1: writing world. Did you guys see the news about Katie
- 0:11Speaker 1: Wu Actually we.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Probably owned this for a minute.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Yeah, but she is going back to Callie. She is
- 0:19Speaker 1: going to be the Dodgers beat reporter. Fabian is still
- 0:22Speaker 1: there as well. They'll have two Cardinals have an opening
- 0:26Speaker 1: now at the Athletic for their beat writer. But for Katie.
- 0:31Speaker 1: The news on our end, Kratz is how she did
- 0:35Speaker 1: an incredible job building up Cardinal Territory, and we've transitioned
- 0:38Speaker 1: that show with Jim Hayes and his cast of pretty
- 0:42Speaker 1: VIP characters. So maybe we will see Katie pop up
- 0:45Speaker 1: again in the future, you know what I'm saying within
- 0:48Speaker 1: the Foul Territory network. But for now, that's why Cardinal
- 0:51Speaker 1: Territory looks the way it does.
- 0:55Speaker 3: I hope she doesn't get too Hollywood on us. I
- 0:57Speaker 3: mean she was holding down Cardinals Territor. I mean got
- 1:01Speaker 3: the Cardinals fans through these tough years where the Cardinals
- 1:05Speaker 3: aren't winning at the pace that Cardinals fans are used
- 1:08Speaker 3: to winning at, or the organization caring she got. She
- 1:11Speaker 3: got all Cardinals fans through, and now she's gonna go Hollywood.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Mm hmm, she's a big time now.
- 1:18Speaker 4: Sure started jelready started with that picture.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Look at her.
- 1:23Speaker 1: That's an Awards show picture, isn't it.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't know that person. I only know the
- 1:29Speaker 2: Midwest Katie Woo. I don't know the La Katie.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Woos Katie would going Hollywood. But that's why. Yeah, we
- 1:37Speaker 1: couldn't say anything for a minute, of course, in respect
- 1:40Speaker 1: to her announcing the plans and finalizing everything. But she'll
- 1:45Speaker 1: be covering the Dodgers for the athletic and for us TVD,
- 1:51Speaker 1: but for Cardinal Territory. If you haven't been paying attention
- 1:56Speaker 1: the last what month or so, Jim Hayes, Lance Lynne,
- 2:02Speaker 1: Matt Holliday, Kyle Gibson. It's a good hang and they
- 2:08Speaker 1: do a nice job of getting the IP guests involved
- 2:11Speaker 1: as well.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Cat. Do you guys know the cat?
- 2:14Speaker 1: Jim Hays Yeah, I do. He's a character.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Oh, he's something.
- 2:21Speaker 1: You got to spend some time with. Jim out in St.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Louis. I love you, I love Jim.
- 2:24Speaker 4: Yeah, Jim's Jim's one of the best sideline slash pregame
- 2:31Speaker 4: postgame reporters there are out there, and I had nothing
- 2:35Speaker 4: but respect for Jim, he was he was solid.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Jim was one of.
- 2:38Speaker 4: Those guys and people that you meet in your career
- 2:41Speaker 4: and you're like, I.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Get why this guy has a job.
- 2:43Speaker 4: And he has the job that he has because he
- 2:44Speaker 4: gets along with everybody and he understands the fact that
- 2:48Speaker 4: his job is to report what's happening. And that was it,
- 2:51Speaker 4: and he got to be friends with the players, and
- 2:53Speaker 4: he got to where he respected the players and he
- 2:55Speaker 4: did it right.
- 2:55Speaker 2: And I love Jim.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, he did it so right that as
- 2:59Speaker 1: he can tinus with his role, he also has cardinal
- 3:02Speaker 1: territory and he's able to make phone calls and bring
- 3:04Speaker 1: in all of these pretty big names to be co
- 3:07Speaker 1: host with him on the show. So I recommend everyone
- 3:10Speaker 1: check it out. And again, congrats to Katie. We are
- 3:12Speaker 1: our teammate here at FT and also over at the
- 3:16Speaker 1: Athletic for her move to the Dodgers. And now let's
- 3:19Speaker 1: get two baseball moves about. There's a new general manager
- 3:26Speaker 1: in Colorado. Look at the Rockies. Go yes, I like
- 3:29Speaker 1: that impressed face from Eric Kratz. That's not one, but
- 3:34Speaker 1: aj two, Yes, two front office executives that they've brought
- 3:39Speaker 1: in over the past few weeks that were not hired within.
- 3:44Speaker 1: I know it must have been painful for them, but
- 3:46Speaker 1: they finally are seeking external candidates. And here comes Josh Burns,
- 3:50Speaker 1: who has been a GM with the Diamondbacks and with
- 3:53Speaker 1: the Padres. It's been a minute, but he's also coming
- 3:55Speaker 1: over from the Los Angeles Dodgers, and he's been an
- 3:59Speaker 1: ex vice president of baseball operations there for quite a
- 4:02Speaker 1: while now working under Andrew Friedman in that front office.
- 4:06Speaker 1: He knows the nl West as much as anyone in
- 4:09Speaker 1: baseball over the last what twenty years or so, and
- 4:12Speaker 1: now he'll work with Paul Deepodesta. I'm starting to like
- 4:15Speaker 1: this a little bit more. With Paul, you're like he's
- 4:17Speaker 1: been out of the game for a while. Josh is
- 4:19Speaker 1: very much in the game.
- 4:22Speaker 4: Did Dee Podesta and Burns do they work together anywhere along.
- 4:25Speaker 2: The way.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Gone through the resume here?
- 4:31Speaker 4: I don't think they did. Do they know each other?
- 4:33Speaker 4: They have to know each other obviously. So Deep Adesta
- 4:36Speaker 4: took over as what president of Baseball ops, right, and
- 4:39Speaker 4: then Josh Burns is now the new GM. Listen, it's
- 4:42Speaker 4: somebody outside the organization, somebody that knows the nl wes
- 4:47Speaker 4: very well, and he worked in Colorado, so he's got
- 4:49Speaker 4: some ideas and he's done a lot of things, and
- 4:51Speaker 4: he knows the Dodgers and he's broken up or he's
- 4:54Speaker 4: been a part of it, so he knows what it
- 4:56Speaker 4: takes to win. So I like this move for the Rockies.
- 4:59Speaker 4: Plus the biggest Like I just said, it's someone outside
- 5:02Speaker 4: the organization. It's outside someone that they would normally hire.
- 5:04Speaker 4: So good for you Rockies. Now, will the family that
- 5:08Speaker 4: owns the Rockies come out and give them money to
- 5:11Speaker 4: make this organization successful?
- 5:14Speaker 2: That's gonna be the key thing.
- 5:15Speaker 4: Will he have the pieces in the parts and the
- 5:17Speaker 4: opportunity to do things that will help this team be
- 5:20Speaker 4: successful in this franchise, That's the key.
- 5:24Speaker 3: He's gonna he's gonna need some chapstick because he's gonna
- 5:27Speaker 3: go all over the place like this, like what how
- 5:31Speaker 3: do you huh? You guys don't have this? Okay, we're
- 5:36Speaker 3: like the Dodgers are on like step like the seventh step,
- 5:42Speaker 3: and the Rockies are like you guys actually give the
- 5:45Speaker 3: analytics to the players. That's interesting, let's talk about that. So, yeah,
- 5:51Speaker 3: you want somebody with a good a good track record
- 5:54Speaker 3: of being with an organization hasn't been a GM, but
- 5:56Speaker 3: he's been in the discussions. I think the Phillies all
- 6:00Speaker 3: almost hired him, I think in twenty twenty, whenever Donbrowski
- 6:03Speaker 3: came twenty two. You know, so he's been coveted. I
- 6:09Speaker 3: think it's something that for him, he really clearly wanted
- 6:12Speaker 3: to be a GM, because if we go from the
- 6:13Speaker 3: Dodgers in any role to the Rockies, you're like, Okay,
- 6:18Speaker 3: I see a chance for me to be a GM
- 6:21Speaker 3: again and maybe do some good in the Rockies organization.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Yeah, he's tried to pick up some other roles outside
- 6:30Speaker 1: of what he's done with the Dodgers. I'm surprised he
- 6:32Speaker 1: was with the Dodgers for this long. He's been with
- 6:35Speaker 1: LA now for twelve is years before moving on to
- 6:39Speaker 1: Colorado with this news. You started that job in twenty
- 6:43Speaker 1: fourteen within the front office for the Dodgers, And like
- 6:46Speaker 1: you said, Kratz, you can point to a number of
- 6:49Speaker 1: scenarios where he's been in the mix for a role,
- 6:53Speaker 1: like President Baseball Operations Paul Taboney got the job for
- 6:56Speaker 1: the Nationals. Burns was in the running for that one.
- 7:00Speaker 1: He was at one point in the running for Mets
- 7:02Speaker 1: front office leader the Red Sox Mets was twenty twenty one,
- 7:06Speaker 1: where he was in consideration Red Sox in twenty twenty three,
- 7:10Speaker 1: and now he gets the GM role. So he's not
- 7:11Speaker 1: leading the front office. He's the number two guy in command.
- 7:14Speaker 1: But I do think that he will be a very
- 7:18Speaker 1: powerful number two based on what he's done and who
- 7:22Speaker 1: he's been around, right aj, based on the GM track record,
- 7:26Speaker 1: so he's actually made those decisions on his own. At
- 7:29Speaker 1: one point, he was a GM long enough ago that
- 7:31Speaker 1: we just had GMS and we didn't have President of
- 7:34Speaker 1: Baseball opps and GMS. That's how long it's been since
- 7:38Speaker 1: he was back in that particular seat. So the GM
- 7:41Speaker 1: role is a little bit different. He doesn't have the
- 7:42Speaker 1: final say, right he goes to Deep Podesta Deep Podesta
- 7:45Speaker 1: and then gets permission from the Montfort family to pull
- 7:49Speaker 1: off a transaction. But he's going to be involved in
- 7:52Speaker 1: the nitty gritty, the day to day, and he's the
- 7:54Speaker 1: one guy in there who comes from the outside and
- 7:56Speaker 1: happens to come from the best organization in baseball, and
- 7:59Speaker 1: I think he'll hold a ton of weight within that order.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Greed agreed. I agree. I think I think both of them.
- 8:06Speaker 4: I think Burns will actually be able to go to
- 8:07Speaker 4: Deep Adesta and the mom for a family and say, hey, we.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Need to make this.
- 8:10Speaker 4: By the way, if you guys hear that noise in
- 8:12Speaker 4: the background, I know the phillies are all into this water,
- 8:15Speaker 4: but when someone knocks it over, it makes a lot
- 8:17Speaker 4: of noise. And then there's glass all over the floor.
- 8:20Speaker 4: So if you hear someone cleaning ladies that are doing
- 8:23Speaker 4: a great job of cleaning up, I may or may
- 8:27Speaker 4: not have spilled on the ground on a tile floor.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Oop. Oops.
- 8:31Speaker 1: It's water though, true.
- 8:34Speaker 4: But if you hear they're like under my feet right now,
- 8:38Speaker 4: getting all.
- 8:39Speaker 2: The glass yards out off. So if you see me,
- 8:41Speaker 2: kind off the move. But I love the Rockies move.
- 8:44Speaker 4: I love Deep Adesta coming back to baseball from the Browns,
- 8:47Speaker 4: and I love Josh Burns getting away from La again.
- 8:49Speaker 4: He's in the n Os, so he knows it coming
- 8:51Speaker 4: to the Rockies. Something different, something different for the Rockies
- 8:55Speaker 4: other than what they've been doing.
- 8:58Speaker 2: KP.
- 8:59Speaker 1: The website is Chuck shorts dot com. The brand is Chubbies,
- 9:03Speaker 1: but it's not just shorts.
- 9:05Speaker 5: Yeah, don't be fooled by the website's name. This is
- 9:08Speaker 5: a one stop shop for all things that I love,
- 9:11Speaker 5: swimming trunks, golf polos, and even flannels. It fits me perfectly.
- 9:16Speaker 5: One stop shop is the place to go.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Yes, Sir KP. I've been wearing their flannel overshirt. It's
- 9:21Speaker 1: like my favorite flannel and your softest sweater having a
- 9:25Speaker 1: little baby. It's the best of both worlds. Classic flannel
- 9:27Speaker 1: look with the warmth of a fleece. And we know
- 9:30Speaker 1: it's that time of year to pull that off. The
- 9:32Speaker 1: Chubbies flannel overshirt. It feels like your favorite flannel, but
- 9:35Speaker 1: with the warmth of a cozy sweater. And for a
- 9:38Speaker 1: limited time, Chubbies is giving our listeners twenty percent off
- 9:41Speaker 1: your purchase at Chubbies with the promo code Foul at checkout.
- 9:45Speaker 1: But if it's Black Friday, skip the code take advantage
- 9:48Speaker 1: of an even bigger markdown during their exclusive Black Friday sale.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Just head to chubbies shorts dot com and make sure
- 9:55Speaker 1: to support the show by telling them that Foul Territory
- 9:58Speaker 1: sent you. So finished with this while we mute AJ
- 10:02Speaker 1: because this is pretty tied into what's happening here. You
- 10:05Speaker 1: hear glass shards being cleared away, crats your Burns right
- 10:12Speaker 1: now taking over as GM of the Rockies. And you
- 10:15Speaker 1: compare this with Deepodesta, how do you clear all of
- 10:18Speaker 1: the shards of class You mentioned some issues already. Hey,
- 10:22Speaker 1: we should get a modern system of how we pass
- 10:26Speaker 1: along information to our staff and to our players. But
- 10:29Speaker 1: anything from a personnel perspective for Colorado, I'll do the
- 10:32Speaker 1: low hanging fruit. The Rockies make money, they do well
- 10:36Speaker 1: on attendance numbers, even when they're terrible. I'm not saying
- 10:40Speaker 1: they should go out and get the next Chris Bryant
- 10:43Speaker 1: in terms of money signings that did not work out
- 10:46Speaker 1: well for them, and they're not in a position to
- 10:47Speaker 1: compete right now. But do not undervalue getting those one
- 10:53Speaker 1: year contracts on players if you can convince them to
- 10:56Speaker 1: come and even overpay them a bit, and you bank
- 10:58Speaker 1: on guys that you think are going to have a
- 11:00Speaker 1: good first half and then you try to trade them.
- 11:01Speaker 1: I know it is not easy to convince certain players
- 11:05Speaker 1: to come over to Colorado, but money talks, and there
- 11:08Speaker 1: are a lot of good parts of being out there
- 11:10Speaker 1: in terms of the lifestyle. So if a player can thrive,
- 11:14Speaker 1: more likely a position player for the first half of
- 11:16Speaker 1: the season, then they're able to flip that player. The
- 11:20Speaker 1: pitching can certainly be an issue. You really have to
- 11:22Speaker 1: convince someone via cash to bring them over. And right
- 11:25Speaker 1: now it's like, hey, I know this place sucks to
- 11:28Speaker 1: pitch at and we're terrible, but want to sign with us.
- 11:33Speaker 3: No, that's honestly not the first thing I do. Yeah,
- 11:35Speaker 3: you gotta have some guys. I gotta put some guys
- 11:37Speaker 3: on a roster. I'm saying, Okay, we're gonna get a
- 11:41Speaker 3: couple of one year deals. Nothing crazy. I don't even
- 11:44Speaker 3: want to I don't even want to use up my
- 11:46Speaker 3: cachet with the ownership.
- 11:47Speaker 2: I don't want to come in the first year. I
- 11:49Speaker 2: gotta buy. I gotta buy.
- 11:50Speaker 3: No, I'm gonna say, we obviously got to look under
- 11:54Speaker 3: the hood. You gotta see what's going on. You got
- 11:56Speaker 3: you gotta trim the fat of you know, the coaches
- 12:00Speaker 3: that are just hanging on because they have a job.
- 12:03Speaker 3: And Dick Montfort doesn't fire people, but to me, it
- 12:08Speaker 3: starts in the minor leagues. Something that I know he's
- 12:10Speaker 3: seen with the Dodgers since he's been there. In twenty fourteen,
- 12:14Speaker 3: when they started clearing out clubhouses for healthy food for
- 12:18Speaker 3: Dodger minor leaguers, like there's so much low hanging fruit,
- 12:22Speaker 3: not talking about analytics, not talking about how somebody coaches
- 12:25Speaker 3: somebody on the field, or free agents that you go
- 12:27Speaker 3: and get little stuff, how you treat your minor leaguers
- 12:31Speaker 3: because the organizations, like you said, gonna have a tough
- 12:34Speaker 3: time finding pitchers. So after I do that and I
- 12:37Speaker 3: set this like new groundwork foundation, I'm gonna say, what
- 12:43Speaker 3: are we going to do? What is going to make
- 12:45Speaker 3: the Rockies the best? How are we going to pitch?
- 12:49Speaker 3: And he's already been a GM. It's okay if you go,
- 12:52Speaker 3: you know what. I think, this is how we're going
- 12:54Speaker 3: to pitch. All of our pitchers have to meet these
- 12:57Speaker 3: requirements before they make it up to the big leagues.
- 12:59Speaker 3: Because they're in the big leagues. The field is not
- 13:02Speaker 3: conducent to this. We have to make the adjustments when
- 13:04Speaker 3: we go on the road, all that stuff. That's where
- 13:07Speaker 3: I start free agents whatever. I'm not looking to put
- 13:10Speaker 3: a bad team on the field, but I don't think
- 13:12Speaker 3: the Rockies are at a place where it's like, oh,
- 13:14Speaker 3: we got to, you know, flip them for a twelfth
- 13:17Speaker 3: prospect at the trade deadline to me, you get bigger dividends,
- 13:21Speaker 3: spending time building that minor league system like the Dodgers have.
- 13:25Speaker 1: M HM fair and talking to your owner into basically
- 13:29Speaker 1: buying up anything that teams like the Dodgers have from
- 13:32Speaker 1: a resources standpoint, every team can spend on that. Those
- 13:35Speaker 1: expenditures are not small, but they're nothing like signing any
- 13:40Speaker 1: kind of free agents. They are small in the grand
- 13:42Speaker 1: scheme of things. And I know that the Rockies have
- 13:45Speaker 1: cheaped out on some things that in the past. I
- 13:47Speaker 1: know from some people who have been close there, so
- 13:50Speaker 1: maybe they're able to talk them into a change.
- 13:53Speaker 2: Show me the money.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Some people are like, who, who's this guy? The Blue
- 14:09Speaker 1: Jays end up signing yet another pitcher, so Dylan Cees
- 14:13Speaker 1: is on board. I would say more of a proven
- 14:15Speaker 1: commodity and a very durable commodity that they signed for
- 14:18Speaker 1: big money right high one hundreds mili in net present value.
- 14:21Speaker 1: This is Cody Ponce on a three year contract thirty
- 14:25Speaker 1: million dollars. Went overseas, pitched in Japan, didn't really have
- 14:30Speaker 1: success there, ends up moving over to the KBO, the
- 14:34Speaker 1: Korean League, the top league in Korea for baseball, and
- 14:37Speaker 1: he thrives in fact, this past season he was the MVP,
- 14:40Speaker 1: and it's I don't want to tell a tale aj
- 14:45Speaker 1: of someone going down a level, down a level, right
- 14:48Speaker 1: because like the KBO is not as good as NPB
- 14:50Speaker 1: in Japan, and PB in Japan not as good as MLB,
- 14:54Speaker 1: because there is a story here of him continuing to tweak.
- 14:57Speaker 1: So he's getting three years thirty million, and for a
- 15:00Speaker 1: reason many teams believe in the way that the stuff
- 15:02Speaker 1: is elevated. He's six', five two fifty. Five he spent
- 15:06Speaker 1: a little bit of time in The pirates. Organization that's
- 15:09Speaker 1: actually usually appealing to, teams especially if you're going like
- 15:11Speaker 1: five years. Back they're, like, okay a commodity that probably
- 15:14Speaker 1: wasn't tapped into correctly back. Then back then he was
- 15:17Speaker 1: like sitting ninety. Three now he's mid to upper. Nineties
- 15:20Speaker 1: he added a kick change up that's become his primary.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Pitch there's a lot here that changed v low stuff
- 15:28Speaker 1: mechanical tweaks your thoughts on someone like this as an
- 15:32Speaker 1: expensive lottery, ticket but one that could end up being
- 15:35Speaker 1: a big part of The Blue jay's.
- 15:37Speaker 4: ROTATION i, mean good For Cody ponts first of. All
- 15:40Speaker 4: but my question is if you're The Blue, jays you're
- 15:42Speaker 4: coming off winning The World, series and who are your
- 15:44Speaker 4: free agents on this pitching staff that you have for
- 15:48Speaker 4: The Blue, Jays Chris, Bassett Max scherzer now and Then.
- 15:52Speaker 4: Brios what are you going to get out Of? Brios
- 15:54Speaker 4: Does Cody ponce fill the need that you have for
- 15:58Speaker 4: The Blue jays in to that?
- 16:00Speaker 2: IS i don't.
- 16:01Speaker 4: Know but if you, know having proven commodities and a
- 16:05Speaker 4: guy Like Max chers Or Chris, bassett you can get
- 16:07Speaker 4: them from one year at a time instead Of Cody
- 16:09Speaker 4: ponce for three. Years which one do you? CHOOSE i don't,
- 16:12Speaker 4: know because AGAIN i don't know enough About Cody. PONCE i, mean,
- 16:16Speaker 4: great he had a great year In. Korea But i've
- 16:19Speaker 4: seen guys From korea come over and they've been. Okay
- 16:21Speaker 4: Eric fetti went over, There he's okay when he came over, here,
- 16:24Speaker 4: Right so good For Cody. Ponce but is this the
- 16:27Speaker 4: move that's going to get The Blue jays The World?
- 16:28Speaker 4: SERIES i don't. Know, maybe maybe, not we'll.
- 16:33Speaker 1: See, yeah they're accumulating arms, crats so they bring everything back,
- 16:38Speaker 1: right and they face A dodgers team that was loaded
- 16:41Speaker 1: with talented arms and you could bring them, in you,
- 16:44Speaker 1: know even if they had just pitched Like yamamoto Or
- 16:47Speaker 1: glass now popping up, right like when you get if
- 16:49Speaker 1: you're able to get to a longer playoff, series having
- 16:54Speaker 1: starters definitely, matters but also having as many as, possible
- 16:56Speaker 1: being that injuries occur and you can always use those
- 16:59Speaker 1: starters in a variety of. Ways, Right, so do you
- 17:02Speaker 1: feel like this is a good way for them to
- 17:03Speaker 1: acquire pitching? Talent and if he does, HIT i mean
- 17:06Speaker 1: ten million bucks per year for a, guy let's, say
- 17:09Speaker 1: who turns out to be a number three, starter that
- 17:11Speaker 1: would be pretty damn.
- 17:12Speaker 3: Good and his, stuff like because of the day and
- 17:16Speaker 3: age of our analytics and all that.
- 17:18Speaker 2: Stuff this is where it really.
- 17:20Speaker 3: Helps this is where, guys you, KNOW i think he
- 17:22Speaker 3: was seventeen and one when he was over.
- 17:24Speaker 2: There he won The Triple crown for, pitchers he won THE.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Mvp he was.
- 17:28Speaker 3: Dominant before you'd look at it and go it Was,
- 17:31Speaker 3: korea you, know maybe not as good as. Talent now
- 17:35Speaker 3: you look at his. Stuff the kick. Change everybody thought he.
- 17:38Speaker 3: Was everybody thought he was a. Pronator he can't, pronate
- 17:42Speaker 3: so he can't turn the ball over this way for
- 17:44Speaker 3: a change. Up now he's throwing this kick change the
- 17:46Speaker 3: VIDEO i, watched it looks like a. Splitter it looks
- 17:49Speaker 3: like a splitter that dives kind of down and into.
- 17:52Speaker 3: Lefties and when you increase your, velocity when you say
- 17:58Speaker 3: you sit in ninety one to ninety, three it's not
- 18:00Speaker 3: gonna it's not gonna play right, now especially when you're
- 18:03Speaker 3: when your ball's moving left to. Right but he upticked his.
- 18:08Speaker 3: Velocity it looks like he's more balanced over the rubber
- 18:11Speaker 3: and through his pitching. Mechanics to, me it's a it's
- 18:15Speaker 3: a no. Brainer you need as A dodger showed six
- 18:18Speaker 3: or seven starters to make it through the. Year now
- 18:21Speaker 3: they just paid For Dylan, ceese who makes all his.
- 18:24Speaker 3: Starts they're Paying, gosman who makes all his. Starts you
- 18:29Speaker 3: don't know what you're gonna get From Hosey barrios and
- 18:34Speaker 3: You savage is. Young he's not gonna give, you even
- 18:38Speaker 3: if he's, healthy he's not gonna give you all the
- 18:40Speaker 3: innings you. Need so if you, can if you can
- 18:42Speaker 3: accumulate six quality, starters to, ME i think this is
- 18:47Speaker 3: a no. Brainer it's a great it's a great contract for.
- 18:50Speaker 3: Him But it's also great for where The Blue jays
- 18:52Speaker 3: are in their. Rotation they don't need him to like
- 18:55Speaker 3: step up and be the number one.
- 18:56Speaker 2: Guy. Yeah.
- 18:58Speaker 1: Aj the thing THAT I i feel like organizations have
- 19:01Speaker 1: struggled with over the past quarter, century which is why
- 19:04Speaker 1: you don't have back to back champs since The, dodgers
- 19:06Speaker 1: and you don't often have someone pop back up in
- 19:09Speaker 1: A World, series is the way that pitching bounces back
- 19:11Speaker 1: the year after they go essentially the. Distance and that's
- 19:15Speaker 1: what The Blue jays had to do with their pitching. Staff,
- 19:17Speaker 1: so Like kratz, Mentioned, gossbinson he's not young. Anymore in
- 19:22Speaker 1: the bigs your savages on the other end of, that
- 19:24Speaker 1: where you haven't built up a significant innings, workload and
- 19:26Speaker 1: they used him a ton in the. Playoffs of, Course
- 19:28Speaker 1: brio's coming off, Injury bieber's coming off injury and then
- 19:31Speaker 1: returned obviously during the trade deadline stretch run for The
- 19:36Speaker 1: Blue jays and then the, playoffs but again coming off you,
- 19:39Speaker 1: know a missed year plus ceases your. Durability. Guy so
- 19:43Speaker 1: Here's Cody ponce added to the. Mix nobody's looking and being, like,
- 19:47Speaker 1: oh why nobody does this? Anymore why would they do
- 19:50Speaker 1: a move like. This there's no room For Cody. Ponts
- 19:52Speaker 1: there's always room for. Starters you need way more than, five,
- 19:56Speaker 1: six seven starters to get through an entire. Season so
- 19:59Speaker 1: they like this. Enough AND i will point this, out
- 20:01Speaker 1: AJ t your point Of scherzer And bascet being free
- 20:05Speaker 1: agents after this, Year like this coming, Season Kevin gossman
- 20:11Speaker 1: is a free, Agent Shane bieber will be a free,
- 20:15Speaker 1: agent And Jose burrias will be a free. Agent So
- 20:19Speaker 1: ponce could be even more valuable for twenty twenty seven
- 20:24Speaker 1: and twenty twenty, eight depending on who they're able to
- 20:26Speaker 1: bring back and. Not, plus The Blue jays are freaking.
- 20:28Speaker 1: Rich they made a ton of money during the playoffs
- 20:30Speaker 1: and they're flaunting their cash right.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Now that's.
- 20:33Speaker 4: FINE i, said good for, Them good For Cardy, ponce
- 20:36Speaker 4: good for The Blue.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Jays it's depth.
- 20:37Speaker 4: Feast you, know three, years thirty million not gonna kill
- 20:40Speaker 4: you over the long.
- 20:41Speaker 2: Haul SO i like this. MOVE i.
- 20:43Speaker 4: Didn't i'm not criticizing this. Move i'm just, saying you,
- 20:46Speaker 4: know what is he gonna? BE i don't know what
- 20:48Speaker 4: he's gonna, be because, sometimes, listen no guy has gone
- 20:52Speaker 4: there hasn't been a guy who's gone over To japan
- 20:54Speaker 4: or gone over To korea yet that's come back and been,
- 20:56Speaker 4: Like i'm gonna he's gonna win A Sai young or
- 20:59Speaker 4: he wins A. Saiu reason the top three or four
- 21:02Speaker 4: Cy young vote every, time, Right so.
- 21:06Speaker 2: LISTEN i love this move For.
- 21:08Speaker 4: CODY i love this move for The Blue jays's depth.
- 21:10Speaker 4: Feast but if you're A jays, fan don't go out
- 21:13Speaker 4: there thinking, like, oh we Got Cody. Ponds here we,
- 21:15Speaker 4: Go we're Gonna we're going back like they're gonna they're
- 21:17Speaker 4: still gonna need some other.
- 21:18Speaker 1: Pieces and we're seeing the questions flow in Here kratz
- 21:21Speaker 1: asking about Am i Or Zach gallen or planning on
- 21:26Speaker 1: stretching Out. VARLAND i think. THAT i think there's a
- 21:30Speaker 1: chance That jays could still go after another big name.
- 21:32Speaker 1: STARTER i don't think it's as likely as them going
- 21:35Speaker 1: after two pretty solid relievers that cost. CASH i think
- 21:40Speaker 1: that's going to be the next expenditure For.
- 21:43Speaker 3: Toronto what about, You, YEAH i mean The varlin. Thing
- 21:49Speaker 3: The twins tried. IT i think The twins tried it
- 21:51Speaker 3: twice and it just. Wasn't it wasn't the Dominant varlin
- 21:56Speaker 3: that you see out of the, bullpen so you, go, eh.
- 21:58Speaker 3: Okay but to, ME i think they're JUST i was
- 22:02Speaker 3: trying to do the math what you guys were. TALKING
- 22:04Speaker 3: i think there are a few inning. SHORT i think
- 22:06Speaker 3: they're a few inning short because of the amount of
- 22:08Speaker 3: starts that you think you're gonna get from Trey Ya,
- 22:12Speaker 3: savage the amount of starts you think you're gonna get From.
- 22:14Speaker 3: Bieber Maybe i'm. Wrong maybe You savage gives you thirty two.
- 22:19Speaker 3: Starts Maybe bieber gives you thirty two. Starts barrios gives
- 22:23Speaker 3: you thirty. Two gozman and and Uh dylan sees they
- 22:29Speaker 3: all give you thirty two, starts and then and then you're,
- 22:31Speaker 3: fine like you don't you don't need. Anybody that's not the.
- 22:33Speaker 3: Reality that's not the reality of how this game. Works
- 22:36Speaker 3: that's not the reality of how you're successful into the.
- 22:39Speaker 3: Playoffs AND i think If Cody ponts this year becomes
- 22:45Speaker 3: even let's say they get one more they get one more,
- 22:48Speaker 3: starter and he becomes that long guy in the penn
- 22:51Speaker 3: look at What Nick, Martinez AND i Know Nick, martinez
- 22:54Speaker 3: he went to he went To, japan and he came.
- 22:57Speaker 3: Back he's been the, ultimate all, ultimate Like Swiss Army.
- 23:02Speaker 3: Knights he, swings he, starts he comes in a. Bullpen
- 23:07Speaker 3: Cody ponts is to is to a t the exact
- 23:11Speaker 3: type of, picture except he throws a little bit harder
- 23:14Speaker 3: And nick probably has a little bit better. Control but
- 23:17Speaker 3: that's that's yet to be. Seen so to, ME i
- 23:20Speaker 3: love this. MOVE i love what they've, done AND i
- 23:22Speaker 3: think they'll still be in the market for a, starter
- 23:25Speaker 3: maybe not necessarily unless it's a high end closer like
- 23:29Speaker 3: a like A Robert.
- 23:30Speaker 1: SUAREZ i have a unique holiday gift. Idea it is
- 23:35Speaker 1: Called superpower because krats they care about. You it's a

- 24:36Speaker 1: better on. Paper we got to see what happens WITH.
- 24:38Speaker 1: BO i got, That but right now they look like
- 24:42Speaker 1: a better, team Right and they did a lot of
- 24:44Speaker 1: things really well in the playoffs Without, Bo so of
- 24:47Speaker 1: COURSE i think there's a good. Chance, no you don't think.
- 24:51Speaker 1: SOCRATS i mean they got through a good chunk of
- 24:53Speaker 1: the playoffs WITHOUT. BO i MEAN i think even if both,
- 24:57Speaker 1: returned this is still a really strong ball. CLUB i
- 25:00Speaker 1: do think that they're the most likely team to retain.
- 25:02Speaker 3: HIM i think they did did do nice things Without
- 25:06Speaker 3: bo getting through The American. LEAGUE i think they don't
- 25:09Speaker 3: have bow in The World. SERIES i think IT'S i,
- 25:12Speaker 3: Mean i'm Not i'm not going down on a. LIMB
- 25:13Speaker 3: i don't think it's a it's the same type Of World.
- 25:16Speaker 3: Series he was a big he was a big, piece
- 25:19Speaker 3: and if you had to get through The National league
- 25:22Speaker 3: teams are gonna they're just gonna be. Better, so, yes
- 25:26Speaker 3: they got through without, him but they need. That they
- 25:29Speaker 3: can't just, say, oh it's, okay we Have Anthony Santon.
- 25:32Speaker 3: Dare we're not going to replace bow at. All we're
- 25:34Speaker 3: just gonna Go Ernie, clement you're sliding at second And Andre.
- 25:38Speaker 3: Simenez it's. Short i'm not saying they need to get.
- 25:40Speaker 3: Him i'm saying they need to get a bat to
- 25:42Speaker 3: replace what he did From april to the beginning Of
- 25:46Speaker 3: september for the entire, season OR i think they could
- 25:50Speaker 3: end up a little offensively, short.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Right that's. FAIR i mean two hundred hits it means,
- 25:55Speaker 1: something and there's some pop there that came back for
- 25:58Speaker 1: him eventually. Too, okay let's get to some other starters,
- 26:02Speaker 1: here some more names that you might not know or
- 26:04Speaker 1: you might be, like, oh that guy's Back Anthony. Kay
- 26:08Speaker 1: do you remember the name former first round pick by
- 26:12Speaker 1: The New York mets in twenty, eighteen two years twelve
- 26:16Speaker 1: million bucks another one and a half million that he
- 26:19Speaker 1: can make in incentives with The Chicago White. SOX aj
- 26:23Speaker 1: it's Another Eric fetti. Special you mentioned it, earlier but
- 26:27Speaker 1: they did this With fetti for. Them they look At
- 26:30Speaker 1: fetti as a big. SUCCESS i think why because he
- 26:34Speaker 1: pitched well for what first, half and then they traded
- 26:37Speaker 1: him away and got prospects for, him and that's what
- 26:39Speaker 1: The White sox needed to. Do So fetti faded in
- 26:43Speaker 1: his time With Saint. Louis FOR. K this is the
- 26:46Speaker 1: guy who pitched in the big leagues about eighty five
- 26:49Speaker 1: innings forty four appearances For, Toronto chicago and The mets
- 26:51Speaker 1: from twenty nineteen to twenty twenty. Three then goes over
- 26:55Speaker 1: To japan and was good the first year and then
- 26:58Speaker 1: was dominant past year in THE, npb second BEST dra
- 27:03Speaker 1: among starters at one seven four one hundred and fifty five.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Innings he LET mpb and starting. Pitching strikeout percentage IS
- 27:09Speaker 1: k twenty one point nine, Percent so his walks came
- 27:13Speaker 1: down from what he used to be really good, at
- 27:16Speaker 1: limiting quality of, contact all of the things that make
- 27:19Speaker 1: front offices. Deel it's just that he had a pretty
- 27:21Speaker 1: long stretch in the majors and didn't pitch, well and
- 27:25Speaker 1: yeah there's been stuff, tweaks but maybe not to the
- 27:28Speaker 1: extent that team saw With Cody. Putts that's why you
- 27:31Speaker 1: get the price of two, years twelve million. Bucks what
- 27:33Speaker 1: do you?
- 27:34Speaker 2: Think? Sure?
- 27:37Speaker 3: Sure?
- 27:37Speaker 4: Cool LIKE i don't, know BECAUSE i don't. Know some
- 27:41Speaker 4: guys come over again From japan And korean and do,
- 27:44Speaker 4: great and some guys come over and.
- 27:45Speaker 2: They're okay and they don't make.
- 27:48Speaker 4: It you just never know what's going to happen with
- 27:50Speaker 4: these guys because there's a reason why they were In,
- 27:53Speaker 4: japan and there's a reason why they were In, kbo
- 27:55Speaker 4: whether it was a, control whether they didn't have a second,
- 27:57Speaker 4: pitch whether it was this or. That and UNTIL i
- 28:00Speaker 4: see these guys pitch and, Listen Eric fetty was great
- 28:02Speaker 4: for The White sox for half they traded. Him what
- 28:04Speaker 4: they get for him, Mostcott who did they get.
- 28:06Speaker 2: Back For Eric?
- 28:07Speaker 1: FETTY i got to remember which prospects were in the
- 28:12Speaker 1: return package.
- 28:13Speaker 4: Exactly they Got they got Mcgil vargas is what they
- 28:18Speaker 4: ended up. Getting because remember it was the three team
- 28:21Speaker 4: who ha ha he how thing they did that one
- 28:24Speaker 4: year where The dodgers Got copek and they Got Tommy
- 28:28Speaker 4: edmond and The cardinals got fetti and.
- 28:31Speaker 2: All.
- 28:31Speaker 4: That so The dodgers, won and they sent him what
- 28:33Speaker 4: they sent, Him Miguel vargas and what two a ball.
- 28:35Speaker 4: Kids AND i don't know that even if THEY i
- 28:37Speaker 4: don't know what they did this. Year so, YEAH i
- 28:39Speaker 4: mean it can work. Out but is this a guy
- 28:41Speaker 4: that's gonna put The White sox not to lose one hundred?
- 28:44Speaker 2: GAMES i don't. Know, maybe but good for.
- 28:47Speaker 4: Him, again he can't got to come back and he
- 28:49Speaker 4: got two, years twelve million and.
- 28:50Speaker 2: He got a chance to make.
- 28:51Speaker 4: More so, cool welcome, back AND i hope you do,
- 28:55Speaker 4: great especially for The White sox Because i'm A White sox.
- 28:57Speaker 1: Fan, well and the bar has been set very low
- 28:59Speaker 1: for the team in terms of what they do in
- 29:01Speaker 1: the off. Season so they did, Spend.
- 29:03Speaker 4: Hey, Chris chris get said they were gonna spend their spending.
- 29:06Speaker 2: A little bit of.
- 29:06Speaker 5: Money you.
- 29:10Speaker 2: KNOW i Like Anthony KAM i met.
- 29:11Speaker 3: HIM i met him rape before he got caught up
- 29:14Speaker 3: to the big, leagues back WHEN i was still.
- 29:16Speaker 2: Playing good young.
- 29:19Speaker 3: Guy probably a little naive in the sense of, like,
- 29:22Speaker 3: hey you know, WHAT i didn't spend that much time
- 29:23Speaker 3: in the minor, leagues just gonna go out and throw my.
- 29:26Speaker 3: Slider he was out there slinging the, rock slaying the.
- 29:29Speaker 3: Rock AND i think it's something that guys go To
- 29:31Speaker 3: japan and they learn how to. Pitch that doesn't mean
- 29:35Speaker 3: like they didn't know how to pitch, before but some
- 29:37Speaker 3: guys throw and they threw better than everybody, else and
- 29:41Speaker 3: then they make it to the big leagues and it's, like,
- 29:42Speaker 3: Whoa NOW i got to learn how to. PITCH i
- 29:44Speaker 3: gotta learn how to take care of my. BODY i
- 29:45Speaker 3: gotta learn how to make twenty four starts like he
- 29:48Speaker 3: did last. YEAR i think he made a few starts
- 29:51Speaker 3: up in the big leagues and then he got up
- 29:53Speaker 3: moved to the. Bullpen it's not gonna work out like
- 29:57Speaker 3: you got a consistent twenty four star arts throughout an
- 30:00Speaker 3: entire season Over. Japan now you come back and you've
- 30:04Speaker 3: re established yourself as like that. ROUTINE aj will tell
- 30:08Speaker 3: you the guys that don't have routines don't stick in
- 30:10Speaker 3: the big.
- 30:10Speaker 4: Leagues, true BUT i, mean twenty four starts is out
- 30:15Speaker 4: what they're counting. On twenty four whole.
- 30:16Speaker 3: Starts, no just a consistency that he only. Started he
- 30:21Speaker 3: didn't go and pitch out of the bullpen because his
- 30:23Speaker 3: first two starts didn't go well and then oh we
- 30:25Speaker 3: need you Back White sox get if they get twenty
- 30:29Speaker 3: four starts out of, them you can't tell me that's
- 30:32Speaker 3: not a successful.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Season twenty four starts at A i would say even
- 30:36Speaker 1: for a six million a year, pitcher twenty four starts
- 30:38Speaker 1: in the four of z array is a bargain in the.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Sport at six million bucks per, YEAR i, mean as
- 30:45Speaker 1: a back end, STARTER i think most teams would take.
- 30:49Speaker 4: That, okay if you GOT i mean sure, AGAIN i
- 30:54Speaker 4: hope it goes. GREAT i hope this is one of
- 30:56Speaker 4: the best signings of all.
- 30:57Speaker 2: Time, yeah, yeah.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Everybody i'm just providing as much AS i can. Here
- 31:03Speaker 1: none of us are going to act like we're WATCHING
- 31:06Speaker 1: npb OR kbo. Games so we get, highlights we get scouting,
- 31:10Speaker 1: reports we read, articles and that's how we can break
- 31:13Speaker 1: guys like this down versus the major leaguers that we
- 31:15Speaker 1: get to watch more. Consistently so while we're on the,
- 31:18Speaker 1: topic we've got a little theme here in money Moves Ryan.
- 31:22Speaker 1: Weiss what does the name mean to? You probably not,
- 31:25Speaker 1: much but The astros sign him up major league. Deal
- 31:29Speaker 1: they have a club option on that one for twenty twenty.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Seven for twenty twenty, six it's one year about two
- 31:33Speaker 1: and a half million. Bucks he pitched in THE kbo
- 31:36Speaker 1: the past two. Seasons his story is more unique To.
- 31:39Speaker 1: KRATZ i mean this says the true underdog story written
- 31:43Speaker 1: all over. It so he never made it to the,
- 31:45Speaker 1: majors so this will be his first time in the
- 31:47Speaker 1: majors coming up this. Season he made it up To
- 31:50Speaker 1: TRIPLE a both with The royals and The Arizona. Diamondbacks
- 31:53Speaker 1: organizations wasn't working for him twenty twenty Three Indie, ball
- 31:59Speaker 1: Then Chineese Professional Baseball league before finally signing over In.
- 32:05Speaker 1: Korea so this guy has clearly made the rounds and
- 32:08Speaker 1: he's figured it out in terms of being successful in THE,
- 32:10Speaker 1: kbo and The astros are going to give it a.
- 32:13Speaker 1: Shot we'll get into The astro side of the equation
- 32:15Speaker 1: here and how they are going to think about shopping for.
- 32:19Speaker 1: Starters but this is the guy who has a chance
- 32:21Speaker 1: to crack the rotation this coming.
- 32:22Speaker 2: Season ALL i can go by is his.
- 32:26Speaker 3: NUMBERS i love the story, though the fact that he
- 32:28Speaker 3: went to The Chinese Professional, league that is he was.
- 32:33Speaker 3: Grinding he was. Grinding they like just he had he
- 32:38Speaker 3: had a chip in the. Chair he kept he kept,
- 32:41Speaker 3: throwing he stayed. Healthy he made thirty two starts this.
- 32:43Speaker 3: YEAR i was looking at his, numbers two hundred and
- 32:46Speaker 3: eighteen strikeouts in one hundred and seventy, innings like that's.
- 32:50Speaker 2: Good, again we're not only going by. Numbers we can
- 32:53Speaker 2: go by the.
- 32:54Speaker 3: Analytics they have track, man they have all the similar
- 32:58Speaker 3: stuff that they have in the big. Leagues in these,
- 33:01Speaker 3: leagues and so they teams can, see, hey you know,
- 33:04Speaker 3: what this is what we really. Like, yes we get.
- 33:06Speaker 3: It his walk rate was probably a little bit higher
- 33:08Speaker 3: than we, want but his durability gives us another starting.
- 33:13Speaker 3: Option and good for, him got himself a big league.
- 33:16Speaker 3: Contract some of these, guys you, know they have to
- 33:19Speaker 3: figure OUT i they're going to sign to go back
- 33:21Speaker 3: To korea Or. Japan so that's why these, contracts these
- 33:24Speaker 3: these signings are. Happening and there's there's guys that have
- 33:28Speaker 3: success and come over just because they get a consistent.
- 33:32Speaker 3: Opportunity LIKE i said About anthony k not everybody is
- 33:36Speaker 3: a superstar and gets consistent playing time or. Starts so
- 33:40Speaker 3: good for these guys cashing it in when they go over.
- 33:42Speaker 1: There, yeah and, actually to your, point there were multiple
- 33:45Speaker 1: reports That kay turned down bigger money From, japan and
- 33:48Speaker 1: sometimes that's like agents flaunting. THAT i actually believe it
- 33:51Speaker 1: because you can't afford a picture like that IN. Npv
- 33:53Speaker 1: if he's top, three they will try and keep those.
- 33:55Speaker 1: Guys but he wanted to come back to The. States,
- 33:58Speaker 1: okay last piece of the puzzle here On Ryan weiss
- 34:01Speaker 1: for the starting rotation as a potential option for The.
- 34:04Speaker 1: Astros but do you have on The astros this? Offseason
- 34:07Speaker 1: aj Fran bravaldez is going to sign. ELSEWHERE i think
- 34:11Speaker 1: that's going to be a divorce that we're just waiting
- 34:14Speaker 1: to get. Official he'll sign with another ball club And
- 34:16Speaker 1: Chandler rome part of Crush shitty, territory And The athletic
- 34:20Speaker 1: reported that The astros are not going to play for big.
- 34:22Speaker 1: Starters as we, Know Jim crane generally treats that luxury
- 34:26Speaker 1: tax number like a salary, cap like a little below,
- 34:28Speaker 1: it a little above, it but like he really sticks
- 34:30Speaker 1: to that, number and that numbers two hundred and forty four.
- 34:32Speaker 1: Million this season or this coming. Season The astros have
- 34:36Speaker 1: clipped about SIXTEEN mili from their, payroll with guys Like
- 34:39Speaker 1: Mauricio dubon moving over to The braves via trade and
- 34:43Speaker 1: So chandler says they're about twenty five million under the
- 34:45Speaker 1: first luxury tax threshold according to outside. Approximations they've gotten
- 34:50Speaker 1: some interest on some of their, outfielders Like Jesus, sanchez
- 34:54Speaker 1: who was brutal for them in the second half of
- 34:56Speaker 1: the year once he got traded over, there And Jake,
- 34:58Speaker 1: myers who actually had his offensive, season is a pretty
- 35:01Speaker 1: solid defender in center. Field but what do you think
- 35:03Speaker 1: The astros need to do to get back in the?
- 35:05Speaker 4: Playoffs sign a, Picture sign a starting. Pitcher you need hate,
- 35:09Speaker 4: healthy you need to bray you. Healthy and they need a.
- 35:12Speaker 4: Bat wherever that bat. IS i think they need a.
- 35:16Speaker 4: Bat they Need alvarez obviously to play the whole, year
- 35:19Speaker 4: and they Got. Korea they have. Pain you have another good.
- 35:22Speaker 4: Year Al tuove is going to do what he. Does
- 35:24Speaker 4: diaz behind the plate is going to be, okay but
- 35:26Speaker 4: they need to find somebody in the outfield that can do.
- 35:27Speaker 4: Something and if they have to trade J, myers they
- 35:29Speaker 4: might need to somebodies to do. Something and then they
- 35:31Speaker 4: need a starting pitcher Because Hunter brown is. Great some
- 35:34Speaker 4: of these other guys are, great but they need a
- 35:36Speaker 4: bona fide starter if it's not From, bravaldez and where
- 35:39Speaker 4: do they find.
- 35:39Speaker 2: That that's going to be the.
- 35:40Speaker 4: QUESTION i think the bullpen will be all. RIGHT i
- 35:42Speaker 4: think the offense will be, okay but they need a
- 35:45Speaker 4: bat in the outfield that can really do some damage
- 35:47Speaker 4: because they their outfield for years has been kind of
- 35:50Speaker 4: a struggle struggle. City so what will they find they
- 35:53Speaker 4: can take over in the, outfield and then a starting
- 35:56Speaker 4: pitcher to pair With Hunter? Brown is the rest are?
- 35:58Speaker 4: Okay whoever those people are at the back end will be.
- 36:02Speaker 4: Fine The asters can kind of figure that. Out they've
- 36:04Speaker 4: been good at, it but they need someone. Else it's
- 36:06Speaker 4: a stud at the front of the end for an
- 36:07Speaker 4: end of that rotation appear With Hunter. Brown, YES i
- 36:11Speaker 4: think that. STARTING i think that starter is key for.
- 36:13Speaker 3: Them BUT i also felt like their bullpen was a
- 36:16Speaker 3: little short when When montero never really came, back they
- 36:20Speaker 3: were you, know that was like the three headed. Monster
- 36:23Speaker 3: it Was presley a bray. You montero he fell off
- 36:26Speaker 3: a Bray you is still the stud and he's still
- 36:30Speaker 3: getting his sixty five to seventy. Appearances hater getting hurt
- 36:34Speaker 3: at the end of the year killed.
- 36:36Speaker 2: Them it killed.
- 36:37Speaker 3: Them they finished three games. Out not saying it was
- 36:39Speaker 3: because a Bray you or somebody else's blowing. GAMES i
- 36:42Speaker 3: just think if you can't count on you can't have three.
- 36:47Speaker 3: GUYS i think it was like a Bray, You oakert
- 36:50Speaker 3: And hater that were leaned. On When hater goes, Down
- 36:56Speaker 3: now all of a, sudden you're leaning on Caleeb or
- 36:59Speaker 3: a little bit more who ended up getting hurt at
- 37:00Speaker 3: the end of the, Year you're leaning On Brian. King
- 37:04Speaker 3: like these are names that are good, pieces but when
- 37:07Speaker 3: thrust into a larger, role you need a little bit more.
- 37:11Speaker 3: Depth similar to when they went and Got hater and
- 37:14Speaker 3: they still Had. PRESLEY i get it they got rid
- 37:16Speaker 3: Of presley, then but it's okay to have really really
- 37:20Speaker 3: good options in the same role because you figure it,
- 37:24Speaker 3: out you get the best.
- 37:25Speaker 2: Players and that's what The astros have always.
- 37:27Speaker 3: Done they've gotten the best players and they put that
- 37:29Speaker 3: team out in the field and they've consistently. Won and
- 37:32Speaker 3: you're talking about a team that doesn't want to just
- 37:33Speaker 3: make the. Playoffs they want to win The world.
- 37:35Speaker 1: Series, yeah you're, right it was getting dicey. There, yeah
- 37:39Speaker 1: you had hater then he got hurt of bray You,
- 37:40Speaker 1: King Steven, Okert bennettuza emerged a little bit for, them
- 37:44Speaker 1: but they could do some work there in the. Bullpen
- 37:47Speaker 1: and from a position player, perspective Is Cam smith going
- 37:52Speaker 1: to take a? Step he was really he was not,
- 37:54Speaker 1: good then found it for what maybe a month or,
- 37:56Speaker 1: two and then wasn't even getting much playing time down the.
- 37:59Speaker 1: Stretch but a young kid WHO i don't, KNOW i
- 38:03Speaker 1: don't think a lot of people expected to even be
- 38:05Speaker 1: in the big leagues as fast as he. Was maybe
- 38:07Speaker 1: was rushed a little bit as he cracked the team
- 38:10Speaker 1: and had a good spring. Training but we'll see if
- 38:12Speaker 1: he can emerge as an outfield piece for. THEM a
- 38:14Speaker 1: lot of the other positions do seem to be. Set, Peina, Albarez, Altuve,
- 38:19Speaker 1: Correa Issak parades who some people have thrown rumors of
- 38:23Speaker 1: trades for, him AND i do not think they're going
- 38:25Speaker 1: to trade. Him Dana brown has thrown that. Down they love. Him,
- 38:37Speaker 1: hey we've got a little shake up going on with
- 38:39Speaker 1: That angels rotation they're working. On of, course The Grayson
- 38:43Speaker 1: rodriguez addition that they made and now adding that With Alec.
- 38:47Speaker 1: Manoa so they signed him to about a year and
- 38:51Speaker 1: two million bucks. Guaranteed he's twenty seven years. Old remember
- 38:54Speaker 1: he had it all a few years, ago injuries and,
- 38:57Speaker 1: effectiveness the whole. Deal he didn't pitch in the majors
- 39:00Speaker 1: this past. Season braves had scooped him up late and
- 39:03Speaker 1: they ended up non tendering. Him so krats to The
- 39:08Speaker 1: angels have some lottery tickets that could hit this coming.
- 39:11Speaker 2: SEASON i, mean, yeah why? Not LIKE i.
- 39:16Speaker 3: DON'T i don't See Grayson rodriguez as the same lottery.
- 39:19Speaker 3: TICKET i also don't. See and this is the ignorant
- 39:22Speaker 3: player in me and not the scout BECAUSE i haven't
- 39:25Speaker 3: Watched Alec manoa when he was In TRIPLE a. Throwing
- 39:29Speaker 3: does he Have does he have that? Confidence and we
- 39:34Speaker 3: called it. Swagger he was on the mic at The
- 39:36Speaker 3: All Star. Game he had all that to throw his
- 39:39Speaker 3: pitches in the. Zone when he came, back people will, say,
- 39:43Speaker 3: oh you, know he put on his. Weight he never.
- 39:45Speaker 3: Had he never really had to work too. Much like
- 39:48Speaker 3: all that stuff is just it's eyewashed unless he says,
- 39:51Speaker 3: it unless it's out of his. Mouth it's just people
- 39:54Speaker 3: trying to figure out why he didn't do. Well the
- 39:56Speaker 3: reality was his slider was not in the zone as
- 40:00Speaker 3: much as it was early when he was An All.
- 40:03Speaker 3: Star so at twenty seven years, old you have plenty
- 40:07Speaker 3: of time to figure it. Out angels could have could
- 40:11Speaker 3: get a super huge fifteen to twenty starts out of,
- 40:15Speaker 3: him which would read which would recoup reboot his career.
- 40:21Speaker 3: Again but he's got to come in ready because there's
- 40:24Speaker 3: times when you, know prospects come into spring training and
- 40:28Speaker 3: they just kind of get it going as the season
- 40:30Speaker 3: you know spring training is, going he's got to come
- 40:32Speaker 3: in right away for him to fit in again with With,
- 40:38Speaker 3: kakuchi With Josey, soriano with the fact that they Have Grayson, Rodriguez,
- 40:45Speaker 3: like you have to be ready to, go AND i
- 40:47Speaker 3: think he has a lot to. Prove and to, me
- 40:50Speaker 3: a past an Ex All star who's still twenty seven
- 40:55Speaker 3: years old is crazy to say. THAT i said it, twice,
- 40:58Speaker 3: like still twenty seven years. OLD i JUST i have
- 41:01Speaker 3: a hard time believing it's not gonna work, out And
- 41:04Speaker 3: i've been wrong, Before BUT i guess it's just the
- 41:07Speaker 3: player in.
- 41:08Speaker 2: Me, yeah it's a.
- 41:10Speaker 4: Transform you got a big league, deal it's get. Transformed
- 41:13Speaker 4: it to be, GOOD i mean good. Luck Hopefully alcmanaa
- 41:16Speaker 4: figures it out and can do. It he's been, injured he's,
- 41:19Speaker 4: back and hopefully The angels figure something. OUT i Think
- 41:22Speaker 4: Mike maddox now is In Los angeles with The. Angels
- 41:25Speaker 4: he's a great pitching. Coach i've had him, before so
- 41:27Speaker 4: maybe he can figure something out For Alec manola because
- 41:29Speaker 4: he was fun to.
- 41:29Speaker 1: Watch but, first BET mgm Futures National league, Pennant so
- 41:40Speaker 1: who would represent The National? League is this? Right plus
- 41:44Speaker 1: six hundred for The mets six to one.
- 41:48Speaker 3: Odds they're they're, appreciating they're appreciating what they, Think oh,
- 41:54Speaker 3: Uncle Uncle stevie's gonna. Do they're already pushing it. Forward
- 41:59Speaker 3: if it's plus, six that means that The dodgers are
- 42:02Speaker 3: probably up. There that means that The phillies are up
- 42:06Speaker 3: there and they're gonna probably be the they'd be the
- 42:10Speaker 3: third team in The National.
- 42:12Speaker 2: League is what there? Is what they're.
- 42:13Speaker 3: Thinking the team that missed the playoffs last year in The,
- 42:16Speaker 3: mets still haven't added a starting pitcher. Yet i'm not
- 42:20Speaker 3: Even i'm not even putting that money down With AJ's.
- 42:23Speaker 1: Money, YEAH i mean it is, Right, aj it is,
- 42:26Speaker 1: confirmed double triple. CONFIRMED i mean to go from what
- 42:32Speaker 1: they just did last year to putting them at six
- 42:34Speaker 1: to one odds to represent The National. League i'm not
- 42:36Speaker 1: saying it can't. Happen i'm just saying that is not
- 42:38Speaker 1: good value for. Me.
- 42:40Speaker 4: No and also the other thing you have to, Understand,
- 42:42Speaker 4: scott you know this better THAN i, do is that
- 42:45Speaker 4: they are also trying to entice people into betting on.
- 42:47Speaker 2: This so that's why they're might not be exactly. What
- 42:53Speaker 2: it's the.
- 42:53Speaker 1: Opposite, NO i know That mets FANS i think it being.
- 42:57Speaker 1: Placed mets fans think.
- 43:00Speaker 2: We're one move. Away.
- 43:01Speaker 1: Boom I'm i'm the the opposite OF i don't.
- 43:08Speaker 2: Know i'm just saying that's What. Mets you've talked To mets,
- 43:10Speaker 2: Fans they're.
- 43:10Speaker 4: Like we're one move away because we Have sodo the.
- 43:12Speaker 4: Door if we bring Back, pete we get one, picture
- 43:15Speaker 4: we're ready to.
- 43:16Speaker 2: Go we traded themo we Have.
- 43:17Speaker 1: Simeon, ye, dude there's there are teams that are in
- 43:23Speaker 1: the double digits to one odds THAT i feel just as,
- 43:27Speaker 1: good if not better.
- 43:27Speaker 2: About, Okay Cincinnata.
- 43:30Speaker 1: Reds braves are ten to one. Odds reds are twenty
- 43:33Speaker 1: to one, Odds diamondbacks are thirty to one. Odds padres
- 43:38Speaker 1: And brewers are twelve to one. Odds so, Again i'm
- 43:41Speaker 1: not SAYING i think The mets are in the mix
- 43:43Speaker 1: with those teams as. Sure could they just totally turn it,
- 43:46Speaker 1: around buy a bunch of pitching over the next few
- 43:47Speaker 1: weeks and be different next. Year no doubt the talent's,
- 43:50Speaker 1: There but six to one that's already kind of banking
- 43:54Speaker 1: on The mets completely going nuts this offseason in my.
- 43:59Speaker 1: Mind so, anyway if someone else feels differently like that's good,
- 44:04Speaker 1: value please let me, know but we'll advise you on
- 44:08Speaker 1: or at least on our. FRONT i have some other
- 44:10Speaker 1: ideas on WHERE i personally will be placing my money
- 44:13Speaker 1: on futures a little bit. Differently BET mgm players get
- 44:16Speaker 1: yourself old No sweat token to apply to any pro football.
- 44:20Speaker 1: Bet you use the, token you add a bet on
- 44:22Speaker 1: a pro football event to your bet, slip and you
- 44:23Speaker 1: activate the. Token you got bonus bets at the bet
- 44:25Speaker 1: that was made with the. Token loses gambling problem or
- 44:29Speaker 1: concern called one eight hundred, gambler let's. Slap, yes all,
- 44:46Speaker 1: right we're getting out of. Here ad already got booted
- 44:48Speaker 1: out of his. Room he only reserved until. Three we
- 44:50Speaker 1: go a little overtime here two. Minutes but Also Trevor
- 44:52Speaker 1: May's May day has, begun so we should get out
- 44:54Speaker 1: of your fast krats hats and then we'll go Watch.
- 44:56Speaker 2: TREVOR i, mean it's covered my, dome the.
- 45:00Speaker 3: Ace The a's just showed us what their dome is
- 45:03Speaker 3: going to look, like prove, it and they're proving.
- 45:06Speaker 2: It so how to wear The a's hat today to celebrate?
- 45:08Speaker 2: It and the green brings the green out in my.
- 45:11Speaker 1: Eyes it is, Beautiful it is. Beautiful how will it
- 45:14Speaker 1: look In Las. Vegas we can get into that a
- 45:16Speaker 1: little bit tomorrow in terms of the model that was
- 45:20Speaker 1: shown and Really John fisher's, comments everyone's favorite In Major League,
- 45:25Speaker 1: Baseball so we'll bring up what the owner of THE a.
- 45:28Speaker 1: Said and there were some disgruntled fans about who was
- 45:31Speaker 1: shown on the mock. Ups, again we'll get into that
- 45:34Speaker 1: in tomorrow's episode OF ft
