- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:28Hey everybody, good morning. I'm going to tell you a funny
- 0:31story. It's very early, it's dark.
- 0:34And as I was getting ready to get the chicken breakfast out
- 0:38and make their platters and go through all this, I'm on the
- 0:40porch. You hear the frogs and all the
- 0:42little peeping in the background.
- 0:45But in any event, I'm getting their stuff ready and I'm
- 0:48feeling like I bent down and I felt my knees were like really
- 0:52sore. And I'm like, all right, I
- 0:55didn't eat great this weekend. Let me tell you.
- 0:58It was Mark's birthday. We went out to one of those
- 1:03Brazilian steakhouses, which are filled with sodium and all kinds
- 1:07of things that I normally don't eat at that level in that way.
- 1:11And so that started it on Friday.
- 1:14Saturday was not so bad, but I went to the farmers market and
- 1:18my favorite bread guy was there. Again, I don't like to fill up
- 1:22on bread, but I he had like the best benet roll and I was like a
- 1:28loaf and I got it and I was like, OK, I'm not going to eat
- 1:30most of it. I'm only going to have a little
- 1:32slice of it. I'm going to enjoy it.
- 1:34I'm not going to worry about it. I ended up having a couple of
- 1:37slices off of it and then I gave it to the girls.
- 1:40But then yesterday my daughter came over and with the baby and
- 1:46we did steak and then I had was not regular white potato.
- 1:52I had mashed sweet potato. But then I made she is gluten
- 1:56free and I made her cookies and I had some cookies.
- 1:58Now while they're gluten free, I still had sugar.
- 2:01So woke up this morning and felt my knees.
- 2:05So I was like, oh, it must have been all of that.
- 2:08So I'm thinking to my head, it must have been all of the things
- 2:10that I ate. And then as I'm going about my
- 2:13morning and trying to get things organized, get ready to come out
- 2:17and take care of the chickens and do all that, I have this
- 2:20thought about how, oh, wow, I'm not.
- 2:24I, I touch the chicken pans, which I always wash extremely
- 2:28well. But I thought, oh, I didn't wash
- 2:30my hands. And I run in the bathroom to
- 2:32wash my hands. And as I'm there, I look in the
- 2:35mirror and I literally scared myself.
- 2:37I was like, oh, Oh my God, look at me.
- 2:39I look so awful in the mirror. Like I looked at myself and I
- 2:43thought that and I realized, wow, my I have not had water.
- 2:49Like my instantaneous thought was I look like I'm shriveling
- 2:52up. And I realized that most of the
- 2:55weekend I did not touch my water bottle.
- 2:58Now here's what's funny and why I'm telling you the story.
- 3:01Because I am not great at remembering to drink water.
- 3:04I'm just not. I like to have some warm liquids
- 3:07more than hot liquids and I like really flavorful things.
- 3:10So I but I don't drink soda or anything else.
- 3:14I try to drink water flavored whatever I can do with it, but I
- 3:18try to have mostly water in some way, shape or form.
- 3:23But this weekend I really blew it.
- 3:25And immediately my body let me know.
- 3:28So I scared myself when I looked at myself.
- 3:31I looked dehydrated and I it, it's a constant reminder to even
- 3:36how my knees hurt. OK, what is that?
- 3:39I'm dehydrated and I, I know this, my body tells me this.
- 3:42So I just didn't listen all weekend long.
- 3:45I was just in this phrase, there's phase of running out.
- 3:49I was doing stuff. I stopped and I got an iced
- 3:52latte. But I don't, I, I mean, I, oh, I
- 3:55used oat milk. OK, still great.
- 3:56I still need water. I still need water and I need to
- 3:59have a certain amount for my body.
- 4:01Now, I'm not suggesting that everyone needs the same amount I
- 4:05need, but what I am suggesting is we all need it and that we
- 4:08all run a deficit on it. Now there's an an older book
- 4:11that we used to have access to. We actually got the speaker.
- 4:16Many heard the speaker many times when I worked for Tony
- 4:18Robbins, doctor Batman Gotti, and he wrote a little book
- 4:22called Your Body's Many Cries for Water.
- 4:24And the first time I heard him speak my mind was blown and
- 4:31could not get over how how like much dis ease like when we have
- 4:37dis ease in the body it he believes that it comes from the
- 4:40lack of water. So I have since I heard him the
- 4:43first time, I've always been very focused on, you know,
- 4:48making sure I was drinking enough water until I'm not.
- 4:51I do it until I don't. And then I have to have these
- 4:54shocking reminders. And this morning's was looking
- 4:57in the mirror and seeing myself look dehydrated.
- 4:59Like I can actually tell my what it feels like.
- 5:02Like I have slight inflammation in my hands.
- 5:05Not a lot. Like you might not even notice
- 5:07it if you don't pay attention the way I pay attention.
- 5:10But I can feel it. I can feel it in my knees.
- 5:12I can feel it in my feet. It's not anything that would
- 5:15even be like considered, but if you looked at me, you wouldn't
- 5:17even think it was there, but it's there and I can feel it.
- 5:21So the name of the game is to always kill the monsters while
- 5:25they're small. Get hydrated.
- 5:27So today that's my mission, my friends, hydration, and I'm
- 5:31telling you all the stories so, you know, find it when it's
- 5:34small, take care of it and go drink some freaking water
- 5:38because I know we all need it. And if you get a chance to get
- 5:41that book, your body's many cries for water.
- 5:43Dr. Batman Gotti, once you read it, it does stick with you and I
- 5:48will say it helps me be good probably about 80% of the time
- 5:53because there are times when I definitely fall off.
- 5:56I usually catch myself quicker than this though.
- 5:58So anyway, have a blessed day. I'm going to go drink some
- 6:01water. Bye.
