- 0:07The Bengals will be kicking off going left to right as we look at Milwaukee County Stadium.
- 0:12The Bengals clad in their white uniforms this afternoon and the Packers in their traditional green.
- 0:16Both clubs face the same situation going into this game. They are 1 and 2.
- 0:20And as Jimmy was mentioning, this is really a crucial game, kind of a crossroads for the Bengals
- 0:25to see if they can find some of that lost offense that came about beginning with opening day against the Cleveland Browns.
- 0:31Archie Griffin has been deactivated because of that broken rib.
- 0:34He and Mike Wells are the inactive players this afternoon.
- 0:37So Lenville Elliott and Booby Clark will be the starting running backs for the Bengals.
- 0:41Tommy Casanova and Wilson Whitley will not start, but both are able to play.
- 0:46So we'll have the defensive alignment in the secondary the same as has been the last three weeks.
- 0:50Marvin Cobb will play the strong safety spot and Mel Morgan will be a free.
- 0:53Walter Johnson will start a defensive tackle for Whitley.
- 0:56Both clubs are out on the field right at the moment, just waiting until it's kickoff time.
- 1:01The officials for the game this afternoon, Fred Wyatt is the referee.
- 1:04Tom Hensley is the umpire. Leo Miles the headlinesman.
- 1:07Don Orr is the line judge. Jimmy Ross is the back judge.
- 1:10Fred Swearingen is the field judge.
- 1:13Little Steve Odom is the deep man.
- 1:15For the Green Bay Packers, as Chris Byer tees it up on the 35.
- 1:21This is the home course of the Milwaukee Brewers.
- 1:23The Bengals on the infield skin portion of the gridiron here at County Stadium.
- 1:27Byer advances on the ball and we're underway.
- 1:29The kick is high and Odom will take it right at the goal line.
- 1:32Comes straight out to the 5, to the 10. Now cuts to his left.
- 1:34Gets a little running room, but is yet going to be dragged down at the 22 yard line.
- 1:38Catching him from behind was Ray Phillips, the rookie linebacker from Nebraska.
- 1:42Dragged him down from behind at the 22 and that's where the Packers will put the ball in play as we get things underway.
- 1:47We were talking about that skin part of the infield, we were on that skin part of the infield before the game and it is absolutely like cement.
- 1:53As a matter of fact, Bob Cunce in the Bengals offensive center walked along, kicked his toe into it and he said they might as well just pave it.
- 1:59There's going to be some slipping and sliding among the offensive and defensive linemen down there.
- 2:03The Packers come out of the huddle with Lynn Dickey the quarterback, Barty Smith and Eric Tarkelson are the running backs.
- 2:08We'll set the remainder of the offensive and the Bengals defensive lineups for you.
- 2:11Quick fetch and a handoff and a slanted over right tackle to Tarkelson and there isn't much room there as he's hammered down after a gain of perhaps a yard.
- 2:18Jim LeClair, the middle linebacker, came over to make the stop.
- 2:21The Packers have Ken Payne and Steve Odom as their wide receivers.
- 2:24Rich McGeorge is the tight end. Mark Concar and Dick Himes are the tackles.
- 2:28Steve Knutson and Mel Jackson, the guards, and Larry McCarron is the center.
- 2:31The Bengals across the front of defense have Bacon and Burley at the ends with Johnson and Edwards at the tackles.
- 2:37The Packers have a lot of players, Harris, Reggie Williams, Riley, Perry, Cobb, and Morgan.
- 2:41Second to nine, a handoff around the left side.
- 2:43This time sneaking through comes Barty Smith and gets up to the 25-yard line.
- 2:46The score is pinched in and knocked down by Walter Johnson.
- 2:51So in a couple of plays the Packers have made about four yards up to the 25 and now they'll be looking at a third down and about six.
- 2:58Just underway, first offensive series here at Milwaukee County Stadium.
- 3:02Both teams have been outscored in their first three games.
- 3:05They've got records of one and two.
- 3:07Now the Packers come out with a slot formation right.
- 3:13Backspin in behind Dickie.
- 3:14Dickie drops back for his first pass of the afternoon looking.
- 3:16Throws it up the middle of the spot at the 35, up to the 40-yard line into the Bengals 41.
- 3:21Comes Burt Aspson, the other tight end who was in the ball game.
- 3:27And he's hammered down at about the 42-yard line.
- 3:29LeClaire dropped back.
- 3:31They threw under that zone again as San Diego had so much success doing last week.
- 3:34Beneath the linebackers, right straight down the middle.
- 3:36He caught it for 35, got it up to the 41 and the Packers convert the third down situation and have the first down at their own 41.
- 3:43And that is the first pass reception of the year for Aspson and it would have to come right now.
- 3:47Dickie hands off, coming around to the left side comes Marty Smith.
- 3:50He gets to the 45-46 before he's knocked down.
- 3:53Mel Morgan came up in the free safety and again Jim LeClaire has been all over the field on this first series.
- 3:58Rolled across from the middle spot but not until Smith had picked up five to the 46 and it will be second and five.
- 4:05Packers tried one play at right tackle and then swung around and have run everything to the left since then.
- 4:10So they made five and a play in at the 46, it will be second and five.
- 4:13No score, we're just into the first couple of minutes of play here at Milwaukee County Stadium.
- 4:17They split Steve Odom, the mighty might, off to the left.
- 4:20Third tight on the right side, back split behind Dickie.
- 4:22Hand off, Tarkelson cuts in over right tackle and he is really hit by Reggie Williams.
- 4:26Williams lifted right off his feet and dumped at about the 49 yard line.
- 4:29Tarkelson is not a big fellow, 6'2, 194 and 230 pound Reggie Williams hit him around the hips and lifted him up and dumped him right about at midfield.
- 4:37But the play was good for four and now the Packers will have a third and one.
- 4:40Tarkelson is a fourth year man out of Connecticut and in each of the Packers' first three games this year he has been Green Bay's leading rusher.
- 4:48He has 116 yards but he's not even averaging three yards a carry.
- 4:51So both lines in tight in a third and one situation, the ball just shy of midfield.
- 4:55Lynn Dickie, the former Houston quarterback who came to the Packers last year directing the attack,
- 4:59in the right tackle trying to the short yardage of Tarkelson and I believe he has it.
- 5:03He got over midfield down to about the Packers' 48, they'll have to see where he is when they all untangle.
- 5:08Again Jim LeClair and plenty of others in on the stop but he has made the first down.
- 5:12Walter Johnson, one of the last men up, the ball is at the Bengals' 48 yard line and the Packers have their second first down of the afternoon.
- 5:20The Packers, as Bill mentioned, have been outscored. They've scored 41 points this year but all 41 of their points have come in the first half.
- 5:26They have yet to put a single point on the scoreboard in the second half of any ball game.
- 5:31Again they flank Odom to the left and they've been lining up rather tight.
- 5:34And off Tarkelson wide around the right side, Gibbs flies to the air, a flag is down as he reaches the Bengals' 45 yard line.
- 5:40Again Jim LeClair over there to cut the legs out from under him, also into the stop.
- 5:44On that side, Mo Harris, the left side linebacker.
- 5:47The first penalty of the afternoon and the Packers are retreating to indicate the penalty is against them.
- 5:51And we get the signal from Geri Burley who indicates the penalty is against the Packers so they'll walk off some yardage.
- 6:00It's going to be a 10 yard walk off and it will take it back to the Packers' 42 yard line and we'll get the holding call.
- 6:06The first penalty of the afternoon, a hold against the Packers, moves it back to their 42 and now it will be first and 20.
- 6:12We ran into one of the Bengals' real super fans here just before the game, Larry Goldsmith from Mansfield, Ohio.
- 6:17Phil, I think we've seen him in Atlanta, we've seen him in Kansas City, we've seen him in Chicago, Detroit, and now in Milwaukee.
- 6:22He and his daughter flew in this morning from Columbus.
- 6:24He gets around so Burd asks from the tight end, the place of Rich McGeorge, a slot left, Odom is the wide man.
- 6:29The left Packers back at their own 42.
- 6:31In an eye, a pitch to the deep man and the eye, Tarkelson has no place to go.
- 6:34He's hit, back at about the 39 and spun around first by Koi Bacon and then three or four Bengals get there quickly and drop him.
- 6:40And there will be a loss of perhaps two or three yards in the play.
- 6:43Reggie Williams came over from the line backing spot also to help out.
- 6:47They're going to spot it back at the Packers' 39 yard line, so it is a loss of three.
- 6:51And now it will become second and 23.
- 6:53Back to throw, spins away from one man, now it's a room to run.
- 6:56Comes up to the 40 and will be knocked down at about the 47.
- 6:59Bacon and Burley pinched him from the outside and Dickey then moved out the middle, got up to the 45, the 46 yard line before Jim LeClaire nailed him.
- 7:07So Dickey on the run gets about seven and now the Packers will look at a third down, with still about 16 yards to go for the first down.
- 7:14Dickey doesn't run that often in the first three games on plays that he was either designed to run or was forced to run.
- 7:20He's carried only twice in the first three games, picking up a total of 16 yards.
- 7:25The Packers have converted both the third down situations that they've had thus far in the game.
- 7:29Now Willard Harrell has gone into the game, replacing Tarkelson.
- 7:33Come out with a slot formation to the right and Dickey goes back to throw. Fires up the middle, it's intercepted by Jim LeClaire, I believe at about the 35 yard line.
- 7:41It looked as though the pass was intended for him.
- 7:44It was Jim LeClaire who dropped back out of that middle line backing spot and Dickey, trying to throw behind him, actually threw the pass short right into LeClaire's arms.
- 7:52And the Bengals will take over at their own 36 where he slipped and then was down.
- 7:56So there's time out on the field, score Bengals nothing, Packers nothing.
- 8:06Some time out, some time out, it's a calm dawn, when time goes on and on, just one year's in all. Well, they knew that was going to be a bad day.
- 8:26They knew that was going to be a bad day.
- 8:36They had a happy, wonderful, beautiful beer. They had a good time and they had a good time and they had some nice beer they had before they died.
- 8:55The pride of Cincinnati's great brewing tradition, beautiful brewing company, Cincinnati, Ohio.
- 9:03score here at county stadium in milwaukee bengals have the ball first and 10 of their own 36 doing
- 9:07this not taking a 14 to nothing lead over seattle in the second period the Oakland Raiders going
- 9:11for their 17th straight win lead the cleveland browns nine to three that's in the second period
- 9:15bengal all in booby clark the running backs in behind kenny anderson bengals at the 36 handoff
- 9:19park straight up the middle both up over the 40 gets all the way to the 45 and maybe the 46 yard
- 9:24line before it can be dragged down by two or three packers that trap draw straight up the middle right
- 9:29up to the 45 yard line good for nine and the bengals will have a second and one like curtis
- 9:34and john mcdaniel are the wide receivers mention clark and elliott are in the backfield kenny
- 9:38anderson is the quarterback john shinners and glenn bujnack will alternate at the left guard
- 9:42spot bringing in the plays bob trump is the tight end hot on the maze of tackle wrap them at the
- 9:46other guard bob johnson is the center second and one bengals at their own 45 curtis far side near
- 9:51side mcdaniel the goes in motion toward the line of scrimmage a pitch out this one will go for nothing
- 9:56breaking through with mike butler the left end who nailed glennville elliott before he had ever had
- 10:02a chance to get out of the block about a six yard loss that pitch out they were attempting to sweep
- 10:06left and mike butler the left end was not blocked at all and nailed him way back at the 39 for a
- 10:11loss of six that's the wrong man not to block mike butler a 65 265 pound rookie out of kansas
- 10:17has four seven speed in the 40 and he was in that backfield almost at the same time anderson was
- 10:22affecting the pitch out no slot formation left with curtis wide and johnny mack in the slot
- 10:30backers in the straight pro defense anderson dropped back to throw fires a quick out
- 10:34incomplete he threw it to the official curtis didn't even turn around
- 10:38curtis had not turned around at all he had gone deep and there obviously was a mix-up between
- 10:42curtis and anderson on that play anderson was looking for curtis to hook and come back
- 10:46and he went straight downfield the ball was thrown about 10 yards behind him so anderson goes over to
- 10:50talk to curtis now they try to get this thing straightened out so it's incomplete and pat
- 10:54mccanally will have to boot for the first time this afternoon
- 10:59a line of scrimmage of the bangles 39
- 11:04willard harrell along with johnny gray are the twin safeties back for the packers standing between
- 11:08their 20 and 30 the wind down on the field is not much of a factor mccanally's boot low driving kick
- 11:14not particularly good it'll be taken by harrell at the 27 it's one block in the far side at the
- 11:1930 will make it to about the 34 or five yard line before he's knocked out of bounds in the
- 11:22forest out of the field a lot of bangles over there to help push him out of bounds right in
- 11:26front of the packer bench there's time out on the field door bangles nothing packers nothing
- 11:32on the replacement windows when you already have good windows in the home well maybe some of these
- 11:37new sash customer letters will help you understand why dear mr johnson i wondered about spending
- 11:41money on new sash windows but my reservations are now gone my wife thinks they're beautiful and very
- 11:47easy to clean but the amazing thing is that they keep the thermostat on 65 degrees all winter long
- 11:52and our furnace only comes on four or five times a day instead of 10 or 15 times in the past thank
- 11:57you our new sash windows are paying for themselves while the fuel savings are important to you this
- 12:02winter give bill johnson a call at 2678 396 new sash is the only window with a good housekeeping
- 12:09seal of approval and new sash replacement windows are custom made for a perfect fit call bill johnson
- 12:14at 2678 396 and let him show you how to save up to 30 or more in eating costs that 24 hour number
- 12:21again 2678 396 always asked for the original new sash updating the scoreboard new england
- 12:34leading seattle 14 and i think second period oakland over cleveland nine to three second period and
- 12:38The jets in buffalo and after that seven seven in the second period and uh my chet marco who kicked those two field goals in the final minute and 14 seconds up here that three season game
- 12:48he's only two more points become the number six scorer in packer history we'd like to stop
- 12:52him from doing that this afternoon so packers start out at their own 34 split autumn wide left back split a hand
- 12:58off wide to the right side goes barty smith cuts back in works his way up to about the 39 yard line
- 13:03with the full going wide right smith cut back in got to the 39 he was dumped over there by mill morgan who came up from the free safety spot
- 13:09but until he picked up about five up to the 39 now the pack will have a second and five green bay has had offensive line problems
- 13:17The uh retirement of both bruce van dyck and gail gillingham left a big hole in there and the packers have not been able to establish much in the way of a running game to any consistency
- 13:25they couldn't do it last week against minnesota and dicky muttered the old phrase that you've heard time after time if you can't run you can't play
- 13:32do anything slot formation right hand off coming around the left side now is torkelson or smith and he gets through up to about the 40 to 44 yard line before bo harris
- 13:42along with walter johnson can pin him down very close to what is needed for the first down as again he picked up very close to five yards
- 13:48The packers running knows actually what amounts to a beer offense as they start out wide and will cut in over the tackles
- 13:54and two players on this particular series have been successful for about five yards each
- 13:58dick heimes is up there to check the measurement dick heimes of course number 72 an old reliable 10-year veteran from high estate he's been a starter since 1970
- 14:06when he replaced forrest drake who's now the head coach of the cleveland brown six-foot down and they are about six inches short of the first down
- 14:14so the third with just those inches to go for the packers at their own 44 49 degrees and rather breezy here in milwaukee but it's not a factor down on the field the ribbons on the goalposts
- 14:26are not blowing at any great angle on high punts they'll catch in the wind but forward passes down on the field will not be too much affected by this breeze
- 14:36odum comes left as the packers face third and inches up at their own 44 both lines bunch tightly only odum split wide to the left
- 14:42body smith torkelson the running backs behind dickie and off and in the right side getting a first down and smith just went in a straight hand off and a dive and over the right side got across the 45 to the 46
- 14:54stop there but the packers have picked up the first down they just ran on the right side behind jackson and heims and mccarran in the middle got the yard and a little more to about two out to the 46 and have another first down
- 15:06that's the packers fourth first down of the afternoon they had three up in that first drive and have now picked up their fourth of the afternoon
- 15:13both teams one and two coming into this game and both trailing their respective division leaders by one game again odum split wide to the right this time and a wide split as dickie goes back to throw
- 15:22pass is batted down at the line of scrimmage a dive and it was not intercepted it's just no good diving for the ball and mad about the fact was jim leclerc
- 15:31pass was batted down at the line of scrimmage leclerc don't ford at the 45 was ruled a trap
- 15:39and so at the 46 yard line or 45 it'll be sucking down and tamp
- 15:45jim leclerc doesn't normally get that mad he spiked that ball good and a little heated argument there with the officials
- 15:53here's the left sideline back over the claren in the middle retchi williams on the right side barry shinrally are the corners marvin cobb is the strong safety and mel morgan is the free
- 16:01now campaign goes out wide to the right side and odum is lined up in a slot now comes over to the near side and they have the wide men split on both sides second and 10 at their own 46
- 16:12and a drop play a handoff up the middle hole is there up the midfield down to the bangles 48 comes little willard harrell is in the backfield
- 16:18they go back there and stop by eddie edwards who drifted back from the line of scrimmage but with the bangles looking for a pass the packers ran a draw and picked up about 5 yards down to make it 6 yards to the bangles 48 yard line and how it'll be 3rd and 4
- 16:32dicky has hit one out of three this afternoon thus far and the packers have controlled the ball here for the first 9 and a half minutes or 9 minutes of this ball game the bangles have had just one series ran 3 plays and had to punt the packers have had it the rest of the time 3rd and 4th the bangles 48 again dicky goes straight back to throw steps up in a pocket now fires down the middle or the pot at the 35 it was
- 16:55brought by ken fain doing a slant and kenny radley was right there to drag him down immediately he did a cross belmorgan dragged him down a cross right at the bangles 35 yard line fain gathered it in and the packers have the first down at the bangles 35 they brought the ball up their own 34 yard line after returning to punt
- 17:16they have no score here 5 minutes and 15 seconds left to play in this first quarter that's the second pass that dicky has completed both of them on 3rd down situation the first one to askson for 16 yards this one to fain for 13 and off running in over right tackle again goes bardy smith nothing fancy just bruising in over right tackle makes about 5 as he got it down to the 30 yard line fain knocked out the interference on his side he was hammered down by a couple of men at the 30 but not until he picked up 5 more yards and the packers running game which has not gone well all
- 17:46year is going particularly well on this series of plays right here it will be second and five they have been working the tackles in between tackles and ends and dicky has thrown the ball rather sparingly again odum comes wide left tight right a pitch off harrell running wide to the right cuts in ferries broke up the interference and got under harrell and knocked him down after a gain of about a yard bo harris also came over to help oddness stop good defensive play by ferries coming up in that left corner back spot shut that one off with a gain of a yard at the 29 now it will be
- 18:16third and fourth back down to four ten remaining in this first period we have no score here in milwaukee county stadium
- 18:26at the end of the first half apparently it's still oakland nine the cleveland browns three
- 18:33odum again comes wide left
- 18:36dicky hands off and a draw play to harrell
- 18:38cuts back gets to the 25 and down to about the 23 and has the first down on the fire side of the field
- 18:44well i don't think it's not somebody's left at the drop lay in jim mcclare on the back of the packers convert that third and fourth situation
- 18:52uh... six yard run by little world harrell only weighs about a hundred eighty two five eight that the time behind those offensive linemen
- 18:59and out of the bank of twenty three of the factors have another first down
- 19:03at the longest pick up the girls have this year is one of the previous run from scrimmage
- 19:07have been four yards but he moved about that the twenty nine out of the twenty three
- 19:13sarah smith and i don't think you can hold them but by the last and handoff to the short man party
- 19:18and he plunges in over right tackle gets inside the twenty to about the nineteen
- 19:22a couple of angles slipped off including jim mcclare along with bo harris missed a tackle back at about the line of scrimmage
- 19:28reggie williams finally knocked him down after he got just inside the twenty
- 19:32so given three and it'll be second and seven
- 19:34lockdown to two fifty remaining in this first period
- 19:37and the factors about the ball all the three offensive plays in a book by the bangles they've completely dominated this first period
- 19:43uh...
- 19:47back in using the same basic formation title right side of the world about twelve yards wide the left this time the back to split
- 19:53and after what i have a little bit of a right back when he gets nothing to get a edwardson's right there blocking the way that time
- 19:59quite a good couple of others over to help out
- 20:01and was very little game if any perhaps a yard in the play and now the factors will have a third down and about seven
- 20:08uh...
- 20:11jim caldreth has replaced body smith now at running back
- 20:14so they have carol and caldreth
- 20:17caldreth a rookie from oklahoma six footer two ten
- 20:23scoreboard shows thirty and six of the nineteen but the nose of that football is right on that twenty yard line
- 20:29this time they split wide men both ways askson comes over to the left
- 20:33by the other jobs like a lot of scrimmage got got back to keep things about
- 20:41right-of-way about the left of caldreth reggie williams came over and now more again and not them down that'll bring in
- 20:47chester marco for the parent field goal attempt to get the ball of the eight he made a couple yards on the plate
- 20:52well i hope that finally step on the back of the picking up all of what is just about
- 20:58ten feet perhaps of the left of second base on the baseball diamond
- 21:05all of the spot about the twenty six yard line so it'll be a thirty six yard attempt
- 21:12michael of course the the bangles with that forty two yard over the five seconds ago in the preseason game
- 21:17all of the way down the kickers up and away
- 21:20and wide right
- 21:22so michael has missed thirty six yards out
- 21:24and i think i'll take over the time out of the field score bangles nothing
- 21:28packers nothing

- 22:33wisconsin we have a scoreless deadlock here with fifty nine seconds remaining
- 22:36in the first period
- 22:37The sunken it goes in the green bay packers
- 22:39kenny anderson in a quarterback as the bangles will put the ball in play first
- 22:42and ten of their own twenty yard line is running back behind him
- 22:45but it was very sick when the light at number forty two will be quite
- 22:49as a banter at county stadium bill may wonder if they're really looking at the
- 22:52ability to art or a reincarnation of one of their all-time favorites john
- 22:56brockington had to look about same size also or the number forty two but
- 22:59john brockington has to have been waiting to be a rep for the last time
- 23:03back or going back playing about eight yards off that line of credit
- 23:06but it's what they're starting to get a lot of the back but behind anderson
- 23:09handoff is a part of the fact that the middle gets to the twenty five yard line
- 23:12for a gain of five will be cut inside right tackle
- 23:15and then let's wait up the middle gary weaver the left side linebacker
- 23:18finally brought him down the packers have mike butler and bob barber it ends
- 23:22dav roller and dave purifoy are the tackles jim carter is the middle linebacker
- 23:26he's flanked by gary weaver and fred carp
- 23:28will be a few cannon and mike mccoy are the cornerback steve loop the former
- 23:32ohio state stars the strong safety johnny gray is the free safety
- 23:35The twenty five the bangles made five and look at a second and five kurtis far side
- 23:39mcdaniel in motion out toward the line of scrimmage
- 23:42and out the second man heli coming right to the right side of flag is down and he
- 23:45gets just back to the line of scrimmage and that's all
- 23:47a lot of backers were over there to meet him
- 23:49fred car came all the way across from the right sideline backing spot to help out gary weaver
- 23:53on that side and the penalty is going to be called against the bangles
- 23:57preliminary indication is that it's holding and that'll cost him ten from the twenty five
- 24:00back to the fifteen
- 24:06back to nineteen seconds left to play in a scoreless first period
- 24:14dot market up at
- 24:15indication is from everybody in the bank of backing up now get the mark out the
- 24:19period of all back to the fifteen yard line
- 24:27holding college against a lot of them
- 24:31at the twenty-fifth penalty against the bangles this year
- 24:34The nineteen penalties that have been called prior to today many of them came at a very
- 24:39very bad time
- 24:43The bangles was second and fifteen now
- 24:45at their own fifteen yard line but daniel split left kurtis to the near side again the
- 24:49packer cornerbacks are about eight ten yards off that line of scrimmage
- 24:52anderson goes back to throw a fire so swing out the clock gets the block comes up to the
- 24:56twenty cuts up to the thirty yard line and is rolled over there
- 25:00and i think i believe from safety spot to make the tackle it was a quick slip screen
- 25:05of the left part getting the ball waiting for the black coming over john shiner's
- 25:08pulling out but the block in the corner back and then part cut straight up the
- 25:11feeling that the twenty five for a date of ten
- 25:14so i've come to the end now the first quarter and at the end of the first
- 25:17quarter of the store bangles nothing packers nothing

- 26:35in columbus
- 26:38at jam-packed county stadium here in new york you was constant
- 26:41we're getting ready for the start of the second quarter between the
- 26:43Cincinnati Bengals and the green bay packers
- 26:45The game scoreless at this point
- 26:48this is the second time this year these two ball clubs have met
- 26:51some nine weeks ago at the start of preseason very first game of the year
- 26:54for both teams
- 26:56The packers went up twenty three to twenty at the blambo field in green bay
- 26:59when chet markle kicked a pair of forty five yard field goals
- 27:02two of them in the last minute and fourteen seconds to win it
- 27:06bangles for the curtis mcdaniel split on opposite sides third and five at their own
- 27:09twenty five a couple of packers jumped and the flag goes down anderson back to
- 27:12throw swings it out to the far side of incomplete intended for booby clark
- 27:16The pass was a little low a couple of packers on the left side butler and roder came across
- 27:20that line of scrimmage now the question is whether they were drawn or whether they
- 27:23just came
- 27:26The officials are consulting down it
- 27:27The packers have had a good pass rush they've stacked the passer thirteen times in
- 27:31these first three games it is offside against green bay
- 27:34and i look at the bank of the very close to a first down if not enough for the
- 27:37first down
- 27:38i got brand talking in four times last week
- 27:41so although this defensive line is almost completely rebuilt from last year
- 27:45they have been able to establish a pretty good pass rush here in the early
- 27:47going
- 27:48about it going to be just inches shy of this brought out short of the thirty
- 27:51yard line of angles will have thirty inches ago for that first down
- 27:55not only did they thank uh... brand talking in court time last week with
- 27:58The evidence that is the court two hundred forty five working
- 28:01who played behind bob barber at the defensive right hand
- 28:04but the point after touchdown for the second straight game
- 28:11about the brain in a new backfield house on the day of this
- 28:15jackson along with the johnson
- 28:21came back here on the third and short yardage situation
- 28:24both lines are in fact the end of the job and then over the middle he's got the
- 28:27first down but not by much made perhaps a couple of people maybe a yard of the
- 28:30play of got the ball up over the thirty
- 28:32before you sub marine about the middle of the packer line
- 28:35your abroad roller carter all of them in there and i'll be able to bring in the
- 28:38regular backs park and alia again after that third and short yardage conversion
- 28:43so the bangles pick up a first down
- 28:49uh... after thirty one
- 28:51no store in a game or just another first minute here the second quarter
- 28:56The backers of our
- 28:57are more plays in the bank of that that's fine and i'll put it back in over
- 29:00The right side of our time running room up over the thirty five to about the
- 29:03thirty nine
- 29:04before he's not a secondary by the
- 29:07safety is johnny gray and steve lou
- 29:11on the draw slight delay in the trap and it cleaned out the middle and park at
- 29:14good running room up to the thirty eight get a seven make it about the yards on
- 29:18The play of the bangles will have a second into
- 29:20because it was in that one plan or if you know if you want to talk to the
- 29:23family used to have a goatee but he changed it off last night and it almost
- 29:26didn't look like the judge and i most of the recognition
- 29:29so i formation of the left with mcdaniel in the slot and curtis wide
- 29:32and it's not going over the right side
- 29:34all opens up to the forty five
- 29:37just about seven more yards on the play before again carter
- 29:40The middle linebacker along with gerry weaver linebacker on the left side can
- 29:43combine to make the stop
- 29:44The bangles have picked up on two players another quick first down
- 29:47both players in over the right side between how and then lapham
- 29:51The ball over about eight again up to the forty six and a quick first down
- 29:54will be quite a cause of change very very little action that happens a lot
- 29:57today because of that uh... The play country of caret that
- 30:00only twice for a total of four yards before this game this is the first game
- 30:04he started he was in just for two running plays last week against san
- 30:07diego
- 30:08anderson play action back to throw a fire as a quick out of scott out of the
- 30:11forty five yard line by mcdaniel forty six yard line on the far side of the
- 30:14field
- 30:17what if you can on the cornerback was over there covering but the quick out
- 30:19is going to be good for about
- 30:22seven or eight yards it'll be spotted at the backer
- 30:25forty six yard line
- 30:27give me a second and two
- 30:31problem of forty four seconds left to play in his first half we have no story
- 30:34of malaki county stadium marco has missed a field goal
- 30:37The bangles have not threatened
- 30:38get a slot formation right mcdaniel is the flanker in the slot
- 30:41curtis wide right again the cornerbacks well off the line of scrimmage
- 30:44anderson a handoff cutting back into the middle getting down to the forty and down to
- 30:47about the thirty six go and all the other
- 30:50speaking about that right side again again it was looked along with mike
- 30:52mccoy
- 30:53gray in the secondary also in the stock
- 30:56but i don't know if it doesn't have a first down and booby clark getting up
- 30:58rather slowly holding out of that need
- 31:01now he's up on his feet
- 31:03will be flexing that left me again
- 31:07marpolyn's and dot temperament about to have a look at him and tony davis checks
- 31:11into the bank of line up
- 31:12but carry advanced out of the pack of thirty seven so it's good for nine again
- 31:15about a couple of particular series early
- 31:18in the second quarter of the wrapping up the idea that six seven eight yards per
- 31:21clip
- 31:23and a little from their own twenty yard line
- 31:25down to the green bay thirty seven words again first and ten
- 31:29dot or twelve or five but first half
- 31:31slot formation left again the cornerbacks about eight yards off that
- 31:34line of scrimmage is all teams have played the bangles net defensive fashion
- 31:37this year
- 31:38anderson and off of the first man tony davis and tony lost his footing in his
- 31:41hammer down quickly mike butler
- 31:43from the left and got in to make the stop and have to help from david roller
- 31:46at the loss of a couple back to the thirty nine
- 31:49but it is a bill that lost his footing with a little slow getting out of the
- 31:52block but even so
- 31:53but it was in there so quickly that even if that's only a big on the good
- 31:57things out of there
- 31:58uh... but there were about a hundred good shot at it
- 32:01they're all over the board here man from the university of kentucky mike butler
- 32:04The big rookie from kansas
- 32:06but i'm not going to let them know that the side that handled that play well
- 32:09but i don't know if i've heard of mcdaniel back but behind anderson
- 32:12drift off to his left
- 32:13now he's going to be corralled and thrown down back at the fifty yard line and right in on top of him
- 32:18there was no time at all to get rid of that ball
- 32:23but his roller
- 32:24and at the loss all the way back to the forty nine yard line
- 32:27roller wasn't held out at all on that play and it's going to be a loss of ten
- 32:30and now it will bring up a third down with about twenty two
- 32:33back at the packers forty nine
- 32:36now they bring in the two extra defensive backs two line backers go out
- 32:39weaver
- 32:41and carterly
- 32:42so in the third down situation with about twenty two to go out of land with
- 32:45a four-line one one backer in six defensive backs
- 32:49general's quarterbacks well off the line of scrimmage
- 32:53there's a new side mcdaniel far side
- 32:55but let's just out of handoff coming up the middle of flag is down getting just
- 32:58to the forty six yard line for a date of about three
- 33:01was elliott a flag thrown on the play in the bengals backfield dav roller
- 33:05hammered him down
- 33:06and the bengals are going to be called for holding for the second time this afternoon
- 33:11i'll see if the packers are going to accept the play will bring up a fourth
- 33:14down if they decline the penalty if they take it a move the ball back
- 33:18about the bengals forty one yard line
- 33:25holding against bob johnson the
- 33:27when those offensive center and uh... The packers are going to play it
- 33:30The letter that i know that about
- 33:32for the second time this afternoon the first one traveled to thirty three yards
- 33:35and mackinac i will be a national record in the corner
- 33:38johnny gray along with willard harold i can't win the babies for the packers
- 33:42are all of the deep man
- 33:44and a short man gray will be up about ten yards but not directly in front of
- 33:47their spread across the field
- 33:50by the scrimmage of the packer forty six the snap the mackinac
- 33:54growth is one down the near side it'll take a look at the seven yard line by
- 33:58harold get away from one man but can't get away from another you'll be hammered
- 34:01down by jerry anderson along with glenn cameron
- 34:03down about at the packers sixty-yard line not a wise decision at all by
- 34:06harold the field at one
- 34:09so the team's change possession of the time out of the field story made by
- 34:12nothing backers nothing
- 34:20uh...
- 34:23uh...
- 34:30uh...
- 34:37uh...
- 34:40uh...
- 34:47uh...
- 34:54uh...
- 34:57uh...
- 35:08uh...
- 35:11people going to have a good time
- 35:14i think it's not what you can't have a third period open now leading the brown
- 35:17sixteen to three two thousand have a quickie in there against the stealers
- 35:21leading but for seven other than the first period and you and that has not
- 35:24taken a twenty one nothing lead
- 35:25over seattle here at the time but you know how to go
- 35:28county stadium milwaukee
- 35:29no score between the bangles and the backers
- 35:32after starting out of their own seven
- 35:34and i was the body smith the trial of the whole wide left and quite a bit
- 35:37about the problem for a lot of a couple back at about the
- 35:40five-yard line
- 35:41bacon along with kenny rather the quarterback over on that side
- 35:44given to shut off that white we left completely
- 35:47backslash down for a lot of the well-earned a spot at the six yard line
- 35:51to make a lot of one and i would become a second and eleven
- 35:56no score in this game ten fifteen left to play in the first half
- 36:00angles across the front at burley bacon johnson edwards
- 36:04The player
- 36:06williams eris riley parish
- 36:08carbon morgan
- 36:10why split behind a key this time if he hands off party smith in over left tackle
- 36:14bulls is way up over the ten yard line out to about the twelve
- 36:17slipped out of the grasp of any edwards at about the seven yard line
- 36:20moved it all the way out of the twelve yard line before reggie williams could
- 36:23finally put them down for good
- 36:25again of sex now i don't bring up a third of five of the packers about their
- 36:28own twelve just army edge of what is the third part of the mtl
- 36:37next week
- 36:38The bangles have a monday night engagement over three rivers stadium
- 36:40against the best bird stealers
- 36:43steve on the white left the backslip behind a key
- 36:47if you have a lot coming up with a little getting about the fifteen yard line
- 36:51away this grab a bit of a problem there
- 36:53and i don't think it in every government is going to be short by a
- 36:56company article first down
- 36:58but there's been no indication from the official that the bangles recovered the
- 37:01ball but it will be cheating of their own
- 37:06and the packers now will be forced to part of the way as they're looking at a
- 37:08fourth and two
- 37:10so david Beverly who is average about forty four and a half yards above the
- 37:13front of the young season for the packers
- 37:15or kick it away to really shall be dot story fifty one left first period
- 37:20every one of seven times last week against minnesota average forty six point
- 37:23four
- 37:25that's a bit of a purposefully afternoon the snapback to Beverly a big rush but he
- 37:28gets it away a good spiral and really shall be will gather and at the factor
- 37:32forty nine yard line slips go to one knee and is immediately down right there
- 37:37matter got to put him down with on the town center
- 37:39so again we have a time out of the old story made bangles nothing packers
- 37:43nothing
- 37:44venue
- 37:54kind
- 37:59engaging
- 38:01st

- 40:34That's why Marathon does business with a guy known as the Marathon Man.
- 40:38You're a Marathon leader.
- 40:40Because he does feel exactly the same way.
- 40:42Anybody can pop the gas and check the oil.
- 40:44But giving service and treating folks like something special.
- 40:47That takes a whole lot more.
- 40:49And what it takes is a Marathon Man.
- 40:52Get together with your Marathon Man.
- 40:54He aims to do it better and he will.
- 40:56He's got the character, he'll do it better.
- 41:04He's got the car.
- 41:07Marathon Oil Company, we got together to do it better.
- 41:10And we did.
- 41:16Johnny Gray was the man who was Johnny on the spot with 754 to go here in the second quarter.
- 41:21Recovering that fumble by Elliot.
- 41:24The Packers, when time is back in, will put the ball in play first and ten at their own 43 yard line.
- 41:29We have a scoreless tie here in the second quarter.
- 41:31The Bengals have controlled the ball for most of the second quarter.
- 41:34After watching Green Bay control it during the first quarter.
- 41:37It was gray overcast, very heavy, lead in the skies here early this morning.
- 41:41But now there's broken white clouds and the sun is peeking through.
- 41:44It's been a defensive battle all the way.
- 41:46That's far no score here.
- 41:47Almost midway through the second period.
- 41:48The Packers take over at their own 43.
- 41:51The handoff comes to Torkelson trying to right side cuts in.
- 41:54It gets very little.
- 41:56Or Barty Smith as he tried to cut in over right tackle.
- 41:59Moves him maybe ahead for a couple yards to about the 45.
- 42:01And Walter Johnson from the right tackle spot applied to crusher right there.
- 42:05And coming up limping slightly is Eddie Edwards.
- 42:07So a gate of two on the play.
- 42:09And at the 45 yard line it will be second and eight.
- 42:13The Packers win came in the opening day game against the New Orleans Saints.
- 42:16Since then they've lost 16 to 10 to Houston.
- 42:19Last week 19 to 7 to the Minnesota Vikings.
- 42:21Second and five, the Packers at their own 45.
- 42:24Take a handoff coming wide to the left side is Torkelson.
- 42:26Burley slows him down but he gets up to midfield as he cut inside Burley.
- 42:30Gained about five yards before Reggie Williams could come over and knock him down.
- 42:35And he is still down, getting up very slowly as Torkelson now getting up to his knees.
- 42:41Walking back to the huddle very, very slowly.
- 42:43Picked up five on the play and right out at midfield the Packers now will have a third and three.
- 42:47And walking back to the defensive huddle, Jerry Burley, number 67, pounding himself on the side of the helmet, hitting one hand into the other.
- 42:53Very upset with himself because he should have had Torkelson back at the 45 yard line.
- 42:58So Torkelson is shaken up and the play has gone out and Willard Harrell, the second year man from Pacific, has come in to replace him.
- 43:03Packers with a third and three right at midfield.
- 43:05Harrell goes in motion off to the left side.
- 43:07Dropping back to throw his dick.
- 43:09He fires it up, Scott down to the 45.
- 43:11Down to the 40 in the 35 yard line and out of bounds, Marty Smith coming out of the backfield.
- 43:15And Williams and Mel Morgan finally nailed him and dragged him down.
- 43:19The Packers have done a lot of throwing to their backs.
- 43:21Smith has been the leading receiver with ten receptions in these first three games.
- 43:25And he took that pass off in the left flat.
- 43:27Moved it down for 16 yards.
- 43:29Down to the Bengals, 34 and the Packers have the first down.
- 43:32Guy with the real flinchy credentials in pass receiving is Odom.
- 43:35He has only three receptions.
- 43:37But those were good for 151 yards, an average of 50.3 per reception.
- 43:41But remember included in that was that 95 yard touchdown toss last week against Minnesota.
- 43:45And off coming around the right side, getting nothing this time.
- 43:48And a flag is drawn.
- 43:50Jim Colbrath then trying to right side, got absolutely nothing.
- 43:52May last about a yard in the play as the Bengals on the left side swarmed him.
- 43:55Gary Burley at the left end, Jim LeClair coming from the middle line backing spot.
- 43:59But let's see what the flag is all about.
- 44:05Minnesota has taken a 14 to nothing lead over the Detroit Lions in the first period.
- 44:10Is that 14 to nothing or 140 to nothing?
- 44:12I've got 140 but I would think they slipped an extra zero in there in the end.
- 44:16Maybe 40 I doubt it.
- 44:19Finally going against the Green Bay Packers.
- 44:21It has not been walked off yet but the Packers are retreating.
- 44:23The line of scrimmage was down at the 34.
- 44:25The officials still consulting with each other.
- 44:30Going to move it back 10 yards to the 44 yard line.
- 44:35Got a holding call against Green Bay, the cost on the 10.
- 44:38So now back at the 44 it will be first and 20.
- 44:41That of course would not be too surprising when Minnesota is leading Detroit 14 to nothing
- 44:44because the Vikings have won 16 of the last 18 games they have played against Detroit.
- 44:50The Lions have to believe they're snake bit against Minnesota.
- 44:54Pittsburgh has come up with a field goal.
- 44:55The Euters have a 7-3 lead in the first period.
- 44:57Slot formation right with Askson in the slot.
- 45:00Widespread behind Dickey.
- 45:02Dickey goes back to throw.
- 45:04Now runs out of the pocket, looks, fires upfield, it's incomplete.
- 45:08Receiver, Rich McGeorge the tight end had it momentarily and then Bo Harris hit him
- 45:12and wrestled the ball away from it.
- 45:14Popped free and the little goal was an incomplete pass.
- 45:16The ball will come back to the 44 and now the Packers will look at a second and 20.
- 45:21Dickey's tried seven is completed four.
- 45:25No score in this game.
- 45:266-17 left to play in the first half.
- 45:29The Bengals have not threatened at all.
- 45:30Marco missed a 36-yard field goal.
- 45:32That was as close as Green Bay has come.
- 45:35Sen Paine wide to the right.
- 45:37Little Steve Odom comes to the left.
- 45:38In fact they have a slot formation, a double wing.
- 45:41Dropping back to throw is Dickey.
- 45:42The Blitz is on, goes far downfield, way over the head.
- 45:45That one was thrown on the goal pattern and the receiver, Steve Odom,
- 45:48had done a hook along the sidelines and so he just threw it about 15 yards over his head.
- 45:53The Blitz was on, Bo Harris was coming, but they picked it up and Dickey had time to throw.
- 45:57So it comes back to the 44 and now in Bengal territory it becomes third and 20.
- 46:01That starts the clock with six minutes and 12 seconds remaining.
- 46:04Here at County Stadium in Milwaukee, Wisconsin,
- 46:07we're in a Scrooge ball game with 6-12 to go here in the second quarter.
- 46:11The Raiders have added another field goal in the third quarter against the Browns.
- 46:14Now have a 19-3 lead.
- 46:15New England over Seattle, 21-0 in the third.
- 46:18Jetson Buffalo, 7-7 at the end of the half.
- 46:22Again a double wing formation, a slot left.
- 46:24Back to throw is Dickey.
- 46:26Fires it, but it's into the ground off in the left flat as three Bengals were right in on top of him.
- 46:30He tried to get it off to Jim Colbreth, a little swing out in the left flat,
- 46:34but he threw the ball at his shoe tops and Colbreth couldn't reach it.
- 46:37Burley and Bacon were both in on top of Dickey.
- 46:39So the Bengals have stiffened and will force Dave Beverly here to punt it away.
- 46:45Beverly's first boot was just 37 yards.
- 46:47That was from deep in his own territory and Willie Shelby now is backed up to about the 10.
- 46:52Strictly a defensive struggle all the way.
- 46:54No score, 6-0-7 left first half.
- 46:58Bengals with 10 men up on the line of scrimmage.
- 47:03Here's a snap back to Beverly, gets the punt away.
- 47:06A good high spiral and he ran into Beverly and a flag is thrown.
- 47:09The ball went into the end zone.
- 47:11It was Mel Morgan who ran into Beverly and that will cost the Bengals 5 yards,
- 47:17a mighty critical penalty, and will give the Packers the first down.
- 47:22Mel Morgan couldn't stop after trying to block that punt, ran into Beverly,
- 47:25and the ball will be walked off down to the 39-yard line, putting it down at the 34.
- 47:40And that is a mistake.
- 47:41They'll have to go get it and bring it back to the 39.
- 47:43Here they do as they consult with each other and find the ways of their errors.
- 47:47So if the 39-yard line, the Bengals by virtue of that penalty,
- 47:51give the Packers a very, very big first down.
- 47:56Once again, that penalty bug is cropping up and raising its ugly head,
- 48:00and that's what's been hurting the Bengals through the first three games
- 48:03and has hurt them again here this afternoon.
- 48:08A wide right, a quick pitch, Harold around the left side.
- 48:10There won't be much room, but he gets away from a couple of men
- 48:13and finally Bacon runs him out of bounds as a couple of Bengals miss tackles.
- 48:17Mel Morgan missed a shot at him coming up from the free safety
- 48:19and is finally run out of bounds by Bacon.
- 48:21They end on that side who drifted out with the play
- 48:23and finally knocked him down at the 34-yard line,
- 48:25ran him out of bounds after a gain of five.
- 48:31Second and five, Pack at the Bengals, 34.
- 48:34Now Harold goes out of the lineup.
- 48:40Torkelson comes back in, so Smith and Torkelson become the running backs again.
- 48:44Old and wide left, they're tied on the right side.
- 48:45The Packers have used this formation most of the afternoon.
- 48:47Barty Smith straight up the middle punches his way down to the 30s.
- 48:50The flow went wide right.
- 48:51He cut in behind it, moved it down very close to the 30-yard line
- 48:54and very close to what's needed for the first down.
- 48:56Reggie Williams finally dropped him right out the 30.
- 48:59So it's a gain of four and it will become third and one.
- 49:06Pack running down to five and a half minutes left in the first half
- 49:08and there's no score in this game in Milwaukee County Stadium.
- 49:12Again, Odom goes wide left.
- 49:15Bengals bunch the defense in tight.
- 49:20Dickey with a long count, gives it to the second man through Torkelson.
- 49:23He dives over the heap, but a flag is down as he made the first down
- 49:26down to about the 26-yard line.
- 49:30The preliminary indication is that it is against Green Bay.
- 49:36Holding against the Packers.
- 49:37Well, there's a critical penalty called against the Packers
- 49:40just as the Bengals suffered one.
- 49:41They had a first down down in the vicinity of the 26 or 27.
- 49:44Only to lose ten, which will bring it back to the 40.
- 49:47Will now make it third and 11.
- 49:54Couldn't catch the number.
- 49:57E.A. Burt Askson, the man who was called for holding.
- 50:01And Askson goes out of the ballgame now along with Torkelson.
- 50:06So third and 11 for the Packers now at the 40.
- 50:10They got Bain wide and Odom in the slot to the left.
- 50:13Smith and Torkelson in behind Dickey.
- 50:15The Bengals have intercepted Dickey once.
- 50:17Leclerc picked one off.
- 50:18Flag is down.
- 50:19Bacon was offside.
- 50:20As Dickey drops it off, McGeorge catches it at the 40.
- 50:23Reggie Williams will run him down, throw him out of bounds at the 35.
- 50:26Mel Morgan hit him, but just bounced right off him back at the 40.
- 50:29But Bacon came across the line of scrimmage too quickly.
- 50:34Well, the Packers undoubtedly will take the penalty.
- 50:39They made about four yards on the play,
- 50:41but of course it would bring up a fourth down,
- 50:43so they'll walk off the five and the Packers at the 35 yard line.
- 50:46They'll revert back to a third down situation,
- 50:48but now they'll have six yards to go for the first down.
- 50:51No scoring.
- 50:52We're down to 505 left in this first period.
- 50:54No change on any of the other scorers as we gave them to you.
- 50:57We have nothing in Washington and Tampa Bay
- 50:59and nothing on Philadelphia and the New York Giants.
- 51:04Maybe in Milwaukee they don't like those teams.
- 51:06Boycott them.
- 51:07Their names are on the board, but so far no scorers,
- 51:09and those were both one o'clock Eastern Daylight Time games.
- 51:12Randy Bataha has checked in at a wide receiver, replacing Payne.
- 51:15He comes out wide right and in the slot goes Odom.
- 51:17Packers third and six at the Bengals 35.
- 51:19Going in motion, the far side of the field now is Odom,
- 51:22and Dickey drops back to throw.
- 51:23Looks now he's going to be forced to run.
- 51:25The ball is tied loose on the scramble at the 40 yard line.
- 51:28Somebody got hold of his arm.
- 51:30I believe that it was either Burley or Reggie Williams,
- 51:32knocked the ball out of his hand,
- 51:34but apparently he recovered it himself right at the 40 yard line.
- 51:37The last man up off the ball is Dickey, and right at the 40.
- 51:41The Packers now will look at a fourth down and about 10.
- 51:45But there's a penalty going to be levied against the Cincinnati Bengals.
- 51:50That flag was thrown downfield and I didn't see it.
- 51:57The five yard walk off down to the 30 yard line,
- 51:59and let's see what the call is going to be.
- 52:03Illegal use of the hands against the Bengals,
- 52:05and that will be an automatic first down.
- 52:07The shades of that drive on the closing two minutes of the first half last week
- 52:11against San Diego.
- 52:13That is an automatic first down.
- 52:17So the Packers retain control of the ball.
- 52:20For the second time, Dermille Morgan ran into the punter.
- 52:23That gave him a first down.
- 52:24Now they hold it here on the illegal use of hands.
- 52:26Odom's split wide to the right.
- 52:28Hand off to Barty Smith.
- 52:29Circles out wide to the left.
- 52:30Cups in and has lifted right off his feet and dropped at about the 29 yard line.
- 52:35Very short game, maybe a yard on the play.
- 52:37Reggie Williams, the right side linebacker, just picked him up right at the 30 yard line,
- 52:42so there's no gain at all on the play.
- 52:43And now it becomes second and 10.
- 52:44Clock running, we're down to 439 left here in a scoreless first half.
- 52:48It's been a long time since we've played a half that's gone this long without any score by anyone.
- 52:52Another change down at New England-Seattle.
- 52:54New England's added a field goal now.
- 52:56It's 24 to nothing, New England over Seattle in the third quarter.
- 52:59As far as everyone knows, John Hannah and Leon Gray came back to the Patriots.
- 53:02Pop will be not playing today.
- 53:03Dickey goes back to throw.
- 53:05Half time, fires it down the middle.
- 53:06Right there is McGeorge, and he's going to be wrestled down at about the 18 by Jim LeClaire.
- 53:11They found the opening to the tight end, Rich McGeorge, straight down the middle,
- 53:14and there was plenty of room down there.
- 53:16And the Packers pick up 12 and have a first down down at the 18.
- 53:19The Bengals once again find themselves in trouble, as Phil alluded to just a moment ago,
- 53:23just as they did in the final two minutes of that first half last week at San Diego.
- 53:27And they have nobody to blame but themselves right now for the trouble they're in.
- 53:30Those penalties have come back to Haunton.
- 53:32They have all season long.
- 53:34They've done it again this afternoon.
- 53:37So the Packers at the 18, send Odom out about 12 yards wide to the right.
- 53:40Smith and Torkelson in behind Dickey, offset left.
- 53:45Longer count this time by Dickey.
- 53:46Gives it off wide around the left side.
- 53:48Goes Smith, and he's up in at the 15-yard line, Kenny Riley and Mel Morgan.
- 53:54They're trying to sweep that left side to the Bengals' right.
- 53:58They get the ball down to the 16-yard line, so give them a couple on the play,
- 54:02and now it becomes second and eight.
- 54:05And the Bengals, after controlling the ball in the first few minutes of this first or second period,
- 54:10they've just been unable to get their hands out of it.
- 54:12Now the Packers started out getting the ball at their own 43-yard line
- 54:15and have had it a long, long time after they recovered that fumble by Lin-Ville Elliott.
- 54:20So we've got a time out of the field now.
- 54:22The Bengals, nothing, the Packers, nothing.
- 54:24Imagine this.
- 54:25You were standing in front of the house,
- 54:27built from only new-sized windows and one new-sized door.
- 54:30Now let's go inside and experience new-sized quiet.
- 54:37The new-sized quiet came from the perfect custom fit
- 54:40and the exclusive Thurman pane with its half-inch dead-air space.
- 54:44Reducing outside noise is only part of the new-sized story.
- 54:47Eliminating the draft, the freezing winter wind, or the boiling summer air.
- 54:51The outside stays out because of the perfect new-sized fit.
- 54:54For you, this means lower fuel bills, up to 30 percent lower.
- 54:58It makes no sense to replace your worn-out windows and replace them with new-sized.
- 55:03The original replacement window.
- 55:05For more information, call new-sized collect, 614-267-8396.
- 55:11That's 267-8396.
- 55:14Your new-sized window is also tilled in for easy cleaning
- 55:17and for enjoying the fresh spring and fall air.
- 55:21Ah.
- 55:23Three minutes and nine seconds remaining here in the first half
- 55:29at County Stadium, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
- 55:32Very, very defensive-minded.
- 55:34The Packers, very defensive-minded.
- 55:36The Bengals, right now the Packers are threatening.
- 55:38They have a second down and eight at the 16-yard line,
- 55:41deepest penetration they have made.
- 55:43But up until this point, it has been strictly a defensive ball game,
- 55:45and the Bengals' own penalties have hurt them in this drive.
- 55:48Miami has a 20-10 lead over Baltimore in a second period.
- 55:51So Don Schiller with a complete rebuilding program down there in Miami.
- 55:55And they've won three straights.
- 55:56Slot formation right, wide split behind Dickey.
- 55:58The Packers down at the Bengals 16.
- 56:00Handoff and a drop, like coming wide to the right and getting just maybe a yard or so.
- 56:04Cutting back in was a little Willard-Herald, and Eddie Edwards has snipped that play out,
- 56:08diagnosed it pretty well, and dropped them at the 14.
- 56:11So it's a gain of two more, and now it becomes third and six.
- 56:15The Bengals have not come close to scoring.
- 56:17Marco missed a 36-yard field goal for Green Bay.
- 56:20Jen Payne, one of the wide receivers, goes out now, and Randy Bataha,
- 56:24a little ex-might of the New England Patriots, replaces him.
- 56:26He goes wide left.
- 56:28On the near side is Odom, a wide split.
- 56:30Fake play, action back to throw is Dickey.
- 56:32Looks, fires down into the end zone.
- 56:34Was it caught?
- 56:36Touchdown.
- 56:38There was a question whether he was inbound, but it was caught down in the end zone
- 56:45by Barty Smith, who came out of the backfield, went straight down the middle,
- 56:48and Reggie Williams, just throwing his hands up in despair,
- 56:51caught it right near the end line, going straight down the field.
- 56:54So the Packers have scored on the pass from Dickey to Smith, 14 yards,
- 56:58and take a 6-0 lead.
- 57:00So Marco will attempt to add the extra point.
- 57:10Comes with 2.31 left to play in the first half.
- 57:14After the Packers recovered, Elliott fumbled at the 43 and a move down to score.
- 57:18The lines are down, the ball is placed, the kick is up in the air, and it is good.
- 57:21So we have 2.31 left to play in this first half,
- 57:28and Green Bay has drawn a 7-0 lead.
- 57:30Let's pause 15 seconds for station identification.
- 57:32This is the Cincinnati Bengals football network.
- 57:35This is the voice of the Cincinnati Bengals in central Ohio, WMNI,
- 57:40where you'll hear Don Bowman counting down the biggest country hits
- 57:43on American Country Countdown after today's game on WMNI Columbus.
- 57:51The pass to Barty Smith covering the last 14 yards,
- 57:54and so the Packers move 57 yards in 17 plays,
- 57:58aided immeasurably by three very costly Cincinnati penalties.
- 58:01Of course there were two penalties against Green Bay on that same drive,
- 58:04but the ones, the three against Cincinnati, I think,
- 58:06hurt Cincinnati more than the two against Green Bay or them.
- 58:10So with 2.31 to go, the Packers break the scoring ice and take a 7-0 lead,
- 58:14and as the Bengals have found out in two of their first three games,
- 58:18they now have their backs against the walls,
- 58:20and they have their work cut out for them,
- 58:22and it's time to play catch-up football, and that's no fun.
- 58:26Willie Shelby at the deep end, Jerry Anderson and Tony Davis flank him,
- 58:29and for the second time this afternoon, Marco gets set to kick off.
- 58:35There's the boot, and it'll carry down to about the 5 where Shelby will gather it in,
- 58:38comes straight up to the 15, to the 20, and a haul to the 30,
- 58:41breaks the way to the outside, 35, 40 yard line, still on a speed all the way to midfield
- 58:45and down to the Packer, 48.
- 58:47So Willie Shelby runs that one back about 49 yards in the Packer territory,
- 58:51but a flag is down on the play.
- 58:56Nate Simpson finally dropped him from behind,
- 58:59and the Bengals are retreating, so the Bengals are going to get a clip call against him,
- 59:04and the flag was dropped at the Bengals' 44,
- 59:07so if that was the spot of the infraction,
- 59:09it'll take it all the way back to the 29 yard line.
- 59:14Another one.
- 59:15Yep, there's another one, that's right.
- 59:17The official takes the ball back, Fred Wyeth, the referee, puts the ball down at the 29,
- 59:22signals a clip, and that's where the Bengals will put it in play,
- 59:25first and center of their own 29 yard line.
- 59:27Clock is stopped.
- 59:28Two minutes and 19 seconds remaining in the first half,
- 59:31and the Packers lead at 7 to nothing.
- 59:33So the Bengals, instead of being at the Packer 48, find themselves back at their own 29.
- 59:40Curtis split left.
- 59:41Now going in motion is Bob Trumpey out to the right side,
- 59:43and Anderson drops straight back to throw.
- 59:45The Packers up the middle, a dive and a catch at the 42 yard line,
- 59:48getting up again, running with the ball, and dropped down at about the 40 yard line.
- 59:53So you've caught that ball.
- 59:54I believe it may have been Elliott coming out of the backfield.
- 59:56That was Billy Brooks, number 82, who grabbed that pass, in at the wide receiving spot.
- 1:00:00That was the play the Bengals have not used frequently.
- 1:00:03They put Trumpey in motion outside, and then Brooks comes across the middle.
- 1:00:06So we're down at the two-minute warning,
- 1:00:08and there's time out on the field, but the score, Packers 7, Bengals nothing.
- 1:00:12See what's new today, here's Chevrolet.
- 1:00:16The dealer is inviting you to call.
- 1:00:18See, try it, what's new today, try the Chevrolet.
- 1:00:22See what's new with my Chevy, take the ball.
- 1:00:25This year, your Chevy dealer has more good news about more new Chevrolets than you've seen in years.
- 1:00:30The new third generation Monte Carlo.
- 1:00:32The new size Chevy Malibu.
- 1:00:34The new size Malibu wagon.
- 1:00:36The new four-door Chevy Chevette hatchback.
- 1:00:39These plus the new Chevrolet Caprice.
- 1:00:41New Chevy Montes.
- 1:00:43A new Camaro.
- 1:00:44Even a new silver anniversary Corvette.
- 1:00:46So come on in, America, and see what's new.
- 1:00:49Come on in, we say, and see what's new today. You'll see it in the Chevrolet. Come on in, come on in, and see what's new today. You'll see it in the Chevrolet.
- 1:01:12It's almost a repeat of last week, you said, the game earlier.
- 1:01:14The Bengals trail the Green Bay Packers 7 to nothing with two minutes to go here in the first half.
- 1:01:18Cincinnati is 60 yards away from Green Bay territory, from the end zone, and right now would be a good time for Kenny Anderson to do with that Southern Cal quarterback did against Alabama twice in the last five minutes yesterday.
- 1:01:30Just move that ball club right down the field and get them into that seven points and tie the thing up here at the end of the first half.
- 1:01:35Anderson, so far, has completed only three out of four passes for 34 yards.
- 1:01:42The L-team spend a lot of time on the two-minute drill, and the Bengals have an opportunity to put it into motion right here. Bill Brooks goes wide right, Curtis comes to the near side, the backs in and high behind Anderson.
- 1:01:52Play action, Anderson back to throw, fires up the middle, is caught by Trumpy at the Packers 45, and he gets all the way down to the 35-yard line.
- 1:01:59So Bob Trumpy, one of those infrequent receptions this year, that is only the second pass that Trumpy has caught in four games, and he gets it down to the Packers 36-yard line.
- 1:02:08So the Bengals going without a huddle, putting the plays in by twos. The clock is running, it's down to a minute 38.
- 1:02:15In Brooks' far side, Curtis near side, Anderson goes back to throw, looking, fires up, incomplete. The pass is too low, down at the 25-yard line.
- 1:02:22The roller gave Anderson a pretty good belt just after he got that pass away. Trumpy, again, was the intended target, a pretty good rush, and Anderson came up short in the pass.
- 1:02:30So that stops the clock with a minute 30 left, and at the Packers 36-yard line, the Bengals now have a second and ten.
- 1:02:38That Miami-Baldivore game going on today in Baltimore, that's, of course, the battle for the AFC Eastern Division League.
- 1:02:44Miami and Baltimore both 3-0, and in the second period, the Dolphins lead Baltimore 20-10.
- 1:02:52Curtis goes far side, again, the cornerback's about eight yards up, that line is scrimmied.
- 1:02:55Anderson back to throw, fires it up, it's caught the 30-yard line. Still on his feet, Brooks dropped it about the 29.
- 1:03:01So Brooks taking that ball, slamming in toward the middle, coming across, got the ball just down to the 30, and now it becomes third down with about four to go.
- 1:03:08The Bengals go without benefit of huddle. Packer player rollers slow getting over there. It stopped the clock momentarily with 1.14.
- 1:03:15And now they're going to change footballs. Bengals at the Packers, 30-yard line with a third and four.
- 1:03:23A signal for the clock to start, and it does. Wide men on both sides, back to throw.
- 1:03:29A little swing out to Elliott, got the 30-yard line, he's down to the 25, and gets the first down to about the 23-yard line.
- 1:03:36Glenn Buzhnak and Purifoy get into a little shoving match down there.
- 1:03:40Purifoy taking exception to what he thought was a late block by Buzhnak, but nothing is broken up quickly.
- 1:03:46Now, with a minute left to go, there's a timeout called in the field. Score, Packers 7, Bengals nothing.
- 1:03:51Discount this and discount that. Sales on this and sales on that.

- 1:04:46Once you shop Corvair's, you'll be back.
- 1:04:50Bengals are in much better shape now than they were a minute and 19 seconds ago.
- 1:04:56It's first and 10 at the 23, one minute remaining in the first half.
- 1:04:59Anderson back to throw, gives it on a slow draw to Clark.
- 1:05:02It's up the middle of the 20, gets to the 18-yard line.
- 1:05:04That's that slow draw where he hands it around with Clark just standing in front of him looking downfield.
- 1:05:09Anderson turns around and hands the ball to him forward, and Clark got it down to the 18 for a gain of five.
- 1:05:14It's second and five. Bengals go without a huddle.
- 1:05:17Clark down to 40. Anderson goes back to throw.
- 1:05:19Looking, swings it up to Elliott. Down the middle of the 15, Lendl to the 10, and gets all the way down to the 5-yard line.
- 1:05:25Little dunk pass. Now the Bengals will call a timeout to stop the clock with 33 seconds left as Kenny Anderson walks over to the sideline.
- 1:05:32Two consults with the Bengal coaches. Elliott taking out a little pass right over the line short.
- 1:05:36Cut inside at the 15, was hit about at the 9, and dragged a couple of tacklers, including Freddie Carr, down to the 5-yard line.
- 1:05:42And the Bengals now have 33 seconds and one timeout remaining and have a first and goal.
- 1:05:47Thirty-three seconds remaining as Phil said, and for the first time, and let's figure it out, four quarters last week, one quarter this afternoon, that's five quarters, five quarters in about 13 minutes.
- 1:05:57The Bengals are finally beginning to look like the Cincinnati Bengals. For five quarters and 13 minutes, they look like the Sisters of the Poor, really, against San Diego last week and so far this afternoon against the Green Bay Packers.
- 1:06:08But they have come on here in the last two minutes and 19 seconds, starting back at the 29-yard line, and one, two, three, four, five passes in this drive that has taken them down to the 5-yard line.
- 1:06:18And the Bengals are now beginning to act like the Bengals of old.
- 1:06:22So timeout is called. With those 33 seconds left, Kenny Anderson talking to the offensive coaches Bill Johnson and Mike McCormick on the far side of the field.
- 1:06:29Right in the booth next to us, Howard Brinker, the defensive linebacker coach, and Jack Donaldson and Boyd Dollar, the offensive coaches, and Charlie Winter, Mike McCormick, Chuck Studley, and Bill Johnson.
- 1:06:37Down in the field, Anderson to check, returns to the huddle. Bengals have a first and goal at the Packer five.
- 1:06:43Down here, of course, you'll get the man-to-man coverage.
- 1:06:47Wind up with a slot formation to the right. Packers come right up to the line of scrimmage.
- 1:06:52Right down in the dirt, near third base, Anderson with the ball, goes back to throw, looks downfield, can't find anybody. Now he's going to run out of bounds, he'll be forced out at about the nine.
- 1:07:02Couldn't find anybody in the open as Anderson drifted out to the right.
- 1:07:07And there will be a loss on the play, back to the eight yard line are going to spot it. So it becomes second and goal at that point. The clock stopped, the play took just five seconds.
- 1:07:16Twenty-eight remain. Tony Davis now checks into the Bengal backfield, Booby Clark goes out.
- 1:07:23Packers lead at seven-nothing, right down to the final 28 seconds here in the first half.
- 1:07:28Bill Brooks, who has replaced John McDaniel at the flanker, goes wide right and Curtis comes to the left. Ike will draw a double coverage over there from Mike McCoy, who is right up on the line of scrimmage.
- 1:07:39Anderson back to throw, the blitz is on, is picked up, fired down in the corner, intended for Curtis, incomplete.
- 1:07:46Cover down here, McCoy had him as Curtis went down and worked his way to the left toward that sideline.
- 1:07:52The blitz was on Jim Carter or Fred Carr was coming but is picked up by Tony Davis and Anderson had time to throw the ball. So now at the eight yard line it becomes third and goal.
- 1:08:00Clock has stopped, 23 seconds remain, that took another five.
- 1:08:05Now John Schinners goes out and Glenn Bougenac brings in the play. And if the Bengals don't make it here they'll have to settle for a field goal here in these final few seconds of the first half.
- 1:08:14Packers lead at seven-nothing.
- 1:08:16Kelly and Davis are the running backs. Bill Brooks goes wide to the right. Remainder of the line is tight. Now Brooks comes in motion over to the near side.
- 1:08:26Anderson goes straight back to throw. Brooks fires down, touchdown, Curtis right down the middle.
- 1:08:31Got away from Mike McCoy and took that pass right under the uprights and the Bengals have put six points up on the board and have scored for the first time since the win over Seattle in the second game of the year.
- 1:08:41And now Chris Barr will attempt the extra point to tie this game up with. The Bengals took the ball and moved all the way from back at their own 29 yard line.
- 1:08:53So Marvin Cobb will hold it, put it down in the dirt. Chris Barr will attempt the extra point.
- 1:09:00Ball is placed down. Barr's kick is up in the air and it is good. So that ties it up now with 19 seconds left to go in this first half.
- 1:09:07And the Packers will have one more opportunity in these final few seconds. So the Bengals move it down the field and score on the eight yard pass from Anderson to Curtis.
- 1:09:16Anderson's second touchdown pass of the year. Both have come to Isaac Curtis. The Bengals have tied this game up at seven-seven.
- 1:09:23Bengals move 71 yards in ten plays. Kenny Anderson's passing stats now read a little bit better. He's completed eight out of 11 for 89 yards in one touchdown.
- 1:09:31Isaac Curtis has just one reception this afternoon. That was for nine yards. That was the one that just came up and put the seven points, the six points, and then the extra point on the board for the Cincinnati Bengals.
- 1:09:41So with 19 seconds to go, we have a new ball game. It's tied seven-seven. Capacity crowd of more than 55,000 this afternoon here at County Stadium in Milwaukee.
- 1:09:54Pittsburgh has come up with a touchdown in the second quarter and has now taken a 10-7 lead over the Oiders in the second period. The Jets lead Buffalo 17-7.
- 1:10:03No other changes still as we gave them to you the last time.
- 1:10:07So Steve Odom, back to receive, and the ball fell over. Justice Barr ran up on it. And the Bengals kind of hesitatingly go back to recover the ball.
- 1:10:17Everybody went downfield, but Justice Barr got there. The ball fell over. They're going to give the ball to the Green Bay Packers at the 35-yard line.
- 1:10:30With 19 seconds left to play. All the Bengals are questioning the call. I've never seen that happen. Why the Packers got the ball, I do not know. I've never seen the play before.
- 1:10:46Perhaps the officials have not seen either because they've gotten together down there to talk it over. And now they've decided otherwise that it is not Green Bay's ball. So we're going to kick it off over again. That's better.
- 1:10:57Apparently something, as Phil said, it's something we've never seen in 10 years of broadcasting the Bengals games. If Barr had kicked the ball or even touched it, of course, then it could have been a free ball and the Packers could have recovered it.
- 1:11:07I know Tony Davis went back and I thought he covered the ball, but Barr never made contact with the ball. The ball fell over as he was just about a step away from putting his foot into it.
- 1:11:16So he'll tee it up again at the 35-yard line. We'll do it all over again. No time ran off the clock. The clock does not start in the final two minutes of either half until it's touched by a player in the field of play.
- 1:11:26So the clock will not start until Odom touches the ball. Now Barr advances and there's the boot. It's a line drive that bounces down to 30-25. It's dropped by Odom at the 10 and he finally picks it up.
- 1:11:35Comes straight up, gets to the 20, is going to run into a flock of tacklers, reverses his field, comes back the other way, running laterally at the 15. Now he's going to try the other way and he almost lost the ball.
- 1:11:44It popped up in his hand, but he grabbed it as he's knocked down at the 11-yard line. He reversed his field twice, tried to pick up a block, but the Bengals were good contained, did not all sweep to the right side of the field when he went that way.
- 1:11:55And when he came back to the near side, two or three men were there to meet him and Willie Shelby finally dumped him back at about the 12 and with seven seconds left, the Packers will have about time to run off one play.
- 1:12:05So seven-seven games, seven left to play here on the first half. The Bengals just scoring a few seconds ago in the eight-yard pass from Anderson to Curtis.
- 1:12:16Dickey to Smith from 14 yards out accounted for the Green Bay touchdown. So Odom comes wide right now and the backs go into an eye with Barty Smith, the short man, Tarkelson the deep man. The Packers at their own 11 are probably just running into the line and let time run out.
- 1:12:30It is Barty Smith over the right side. He's met hard right at the line of scrimmage and time will run out here on the first half and that'll be it.
- 1:12:36So Jimmy Krumm will be along with his analysis the first half in a moment. Once again our score at halftime here at Milwaukee County Stadium is the Bengals seven and the Packers seven.
- 1:12:47The Packers will kick off.
- 1:12:53The Bengals had the ball for just six running plays as I mentioned in that first period and had it 19 times from scrimmage on only what amounted to two offensive series because they lost the ball on Elliott's fumble and the Packers picked it up and went 57 yards to score.
- 1:13:10And then the Bengals came back with just two minutes and 19 seconds left and moved 71 yards to nod it up on the eight-yard touchdown pass from Anderson to Curtis.
- 1:13:19So the Packers kicking off going right to left. Mully Shelby is the deep man. Tony Davis and Jerry Anderson the short man.
- 1:13:24Here's Mark Cole's kick. Will not be particularly long. It'll be taken by Shelby in a trot at the 10. Up to the 20. Runs into a horde of Packer tacklers and will be knocked down at about the 24-yard line.
- 1:13:35There was a fumble in there but it was after he had hit the ground and the ball had been blown dead. Now the Bengals will have the ball at about their own 24-yard line to start out here in this third period.
- 1:13:51Sun is out now and the skies have fairly well cleared here at Milwaukee. Overcast about an hour before the game but then patches of blue begin to show. We played most of that first half on the sunshine.
- 1:14:02Bengals come out with a slot formation right. Billy Brooks is the flanker. He's in the slot. Curtis wide right.
- 1:14:09And up around the left side. Cutting in is Elliott and he runs into about three or four Packer tacklers as he gets out of the 29-yard line.
- 1:14:15Jim Carter, the middle line backer, the fellow's had all kinds of problems with a couple of broken arms in his career. Mike McCoy up from the quarterback spot also to help out on the tackle.
- 1:14:24They say that Elliott got to the 30. So it's a game of about five and it'll be second and five. Seven-seven ball game here in the opening minute of this third period of play.
- 1:14:39Tight on the right side and Ike Curtis. On the right side Billy Brooks split to the left. And up it's Booby Clark, you know, left tackle coming wide and Booby runs over a tackler and gets to about the 33-yard line.
- 1:14:53Booby just put his head down and ran right into Willie Buchanan. Buchanan wrapped him up and finally dropped him after Clark had struggled forward for a couple of more yards out to the 33.
- 1:15:01So give him three and it'll bring up a third and two.
- 1:15:03You mentioned those broken bones. Middle linebacker Jim Carter, the age-year veteran out of Minnesota, the real hard-luck guy as far as the Packers are concerned.
- 1:15:10He was a number three draft choice in the 70s. He broke his leg in 75 and his arm in 76.
- 1:15:16Now Pete Johnson and Tony Davis go into Bengals backfield on the short yardage situation. Packers have six men right up tight at the line of scrimmage.
- 1:15:23And off Clark, both in the side, gets to the 35 and has the first down. Coming in over right tackle.
- 1:15:29And he made that with a good deal of that second effort after he'd been hit by Jim Carter.
- 1:15:33He struggled forward and just got the nose of the football to the 35 and made it with a couple of, or Tony Davis made it with a couple of inches to spare.
- 1:15:40Check that make at Tony Davis. So it's first down for the Bengals at the 35.
- 1:15:477-7, we played a couple of minutes here on the third period. Bengals at their own 35-yard line.
- 1:15:53Again come out with a slot formation right. Curtis wide. As the Packer cornerbacks have done all afternoon, they're about eight yards off that line of scrimmage.
- 1:16:00An high formation, short man. It goes to the second man, Elliott Wiggles, his way up to the 40 and gets up to the 42 as he came in at right side.
- 1:16:07Again, the middle linebacker Jim Carter along with Dave Purifoy who made the stop.
- 1:16:12But not until Elliott had picked up about seven yards at the 42 and now the Bengals will look at a second and three.
- 1:16:19The Bengals have shown more offense here on this opening series in the third quarter when they showed in the entire first half with the exception of that drive on the final two minutes and 19 seconds.
- 1:16:33As they break the huddle, Curtis again rather tight on the left side. Brooks split out about eight yards wide to the right.
- 1:16:38The back split behind Anderson. The handoff goes to Clark who works his way up the middle and Booby plunges up to the 49-yard line for about another seven-yard crack before Purifoy can wrap him up and drag him down just short of midfield at the 49.
- 1:16:52So Clark and Elliott heating up yardage here in chunks of sixes and sevens as we open this third period. The Bengals have another first down and move it back a yard to the 48.
- 1:17:01Booby had a very respectable average that first half carried six times for 39 yards. That figures out to six and a half yards per carry.
- 1:17:09Now John McDaniel has replaced Brooks as the flanker. He's split out to the right. Handoff into the line and finding the going hard this time was Linville Elliott as he tried the left side and over between Rufus Mays and the guard on that side and Purifoy and Barber stopped the play.
- 1:17:28He got a couple of yards, got the ball right out to midfield. A gain of two, now second and eight. In case you joined us late, Archie Griffin, the two-time Heisman Trophy winner from Ohio State, is not even with the Bengals this afternoon.
- 1:17:39He remained in Cincinnati when it was discovered at midweek that he had suffered a cracked rib in last week's game against San Diego.
- 1:17:49Curtis Wright, Billy Brooks off to the left. The Packers come across the line of scrimmage. Flags are down and Anderson will be wrapped up and thrown down by Jim Carter, not thrown down, just wrapped up and thrown back.
- 1:18:00The play had been blown dead and Bernhardt didn't like the way that Carter treated Anderson and let the officials know about it.
- 1:18:08Now we've got a change in that score up on the board now. Now it shows Baltimore leading Miami 17 to 14. So a correction of what we had the 20 to 10 score with Miami leading before.
- 1:18:18So it'll cost the Green Bay Packers five yards. They were offside. It'll move it down to the 45 and now the Bengals look at a second down situation with just three yards to go for the first down.
- 1:18:27I wonder where that other score came from. That was up there for an awful long time. Here it was.
- 1:18:32No changes in the others. Yes, there is in one. New England now leading Seattle 31 to nothing. Perhaps we did give you that one before.
- 1:18:39Bengals for the second and three at the Packer 45.
- 1:18:44Wide men split on both sides of the field. The Baxter split Anderson hands off. Clark, the middle of the line, reverses himself, goes to the left and gets about three yards and they're harder.
- 1:18:53He tried it straight up the middle and veered off to his left. Was dragged down by Roller and Carter.
- 1:18:59Now with another third down and about a yard situation coming up, Elliott and Clark go out.
- 1:19:06And Tony Davis and Pete Johnson, the short yardage men, come in. The ball is at the Packer 43 and it's third and one.
- 1:19:14Seven-seven, 10-25, the time remaining here in the third quarter. First series of the second half.
- 1:19:20Both lines bunched tight. Hand off Pete Johnson. He's got a big hole and he's got the first down inside the 40 down to about the 37 yard line.
- 1:19:28Johnny Gray came up to hit him, but Pete Johnson just kind of ran right over him and dragged him for another couple yards down to the 37 and the Bengals keep the drive alive.
- 1:19:37With a ramp of about six yards, good blocking right in the middle of the line, cried apart that Packer defensive front four.
- 1:19:43Pete Johnson, of course, one of those big long line of strong fullbacks from Ohio State and the Buckeyes may have discovered another one yesterday in freshman Joel Payton who had four touchdowns against Purdue.
- 1:19:53First and 10, the ball at the Packer 37. Wide men split on both sides of the field. Anderson goes back and throws. The blitz is on, finds the man alone.
- 1:20:00Trumpy down at the 30, spins away, gets down to the 25, to the 20 and will be knocked out of bounds at about the 15 yard line.
- 1:20:07Just a foot away from a Packer tackler, but a flag is thrown down at the line of Strimmy.
- 1:20:12And it's going to be a holding call against the Bengals and Trumpy is shaken up where he was knocked out of bounds.
- 1:20:21Coming up to his feet rather slowly and that one will be wiped out. The blitz was on and Anderson found Trumpy out on the right flat.
- 1:20:28And the time is being called and the officials are signaling, but the Bengals don't notice it, that they need somebody from the far side of the field to come over and attend to Bob Trumpy.
- 1:20:37And finally Dr. Timperman comes all the way from across the field to take a look at him. I think Trumpy had the wind knocked out of him.
- 1:20:43That was a great move by Bob Trumpy at about the 25 to 30 yard line. There's time out on the field. Score a Bengals 7 Packers 7.
- 1:20:51Discount this and discount that. Sales on this and sales on that. Wideswag all over town to save a few pennies here and there when you can shop one automotive store with savings on everything in the store.

- 1:21:41Look for Corvair's store wide savings in the Thursday's Dispatch, Saturday's Citizens Journal and the Sunday Dispatch. Once you shop Corvair's, you'll be back.
- 1:21:54Bob Trumpey just crossing the far sideline going back to the Cincinnati bench. It was either something with his shoulder or perhaps he had the wind knocked out of him.
- 1:22:01Dr. Timberman and Marv Ballen both walked back with him and walked all the way across the field and Bob seemed to be alright.
- 1:22:07That penalty against Cincinnati for a holding on that pass from Kenny Anderson to Bob Trumpey, which nullified the play and moved the ball back to the Green Bay 47 yard line,
- 1:22:17was penalty number six assessed against Cincinnati this afternoon. Six penalties for a total of 50 yards and all six of them have come at a very, very crucial time.
- 1:22:27Tim Corbett has replaced Trumpey at tight end.
- 1:22:30Stunkels now have a first and 20, the ball back at the backer 47.
- 1:22:34Brooks and Curtis split on opposite sides.
- 1:22:37Anderson goes back to throw, fires it out on the flat over the head of Booby Clark on the far side of the field.
- 1:22:43Trying to swing it out to the left side. He was covered well over there by Fred Carr, the right side linebacker, who had drifted out.
- 1:22:49And so had Bob Barber, the end over on that side. So it comes back to the 47 and it'll be second and 20.
- 1:22:59Nine and a half minutes left to play here in the third quarter. The clock has stopped. It's a 7-7 ball game.
- 1:23:04Both teams scored late in that second period after battling for about 26, 27 minutes without anybody putting anything on the board.
- 1:23:14That's a slot formation to the left with Corbett in the slot. Both wide receivers up on the line of scrimmage and Corbett goes in motion.
- 1:23:20Anderson back to throw, sprints it out, catches that screen down to the 40, to the 45, 35 yard line and out of bounds.
- 1:23:27On the far side of the field goes Elliott. That's that halfback screen.
- 1:23:31They have to wait for the two linemen, the center and the guard on that side to pull out and set up the block on the linebacker and the cornerback.
- 1:23:37Then Elliott slipped inside and finally Luke ran him out of bounds.
- 1:23:40The Bengals get about 12 on the play as he was pushed out of bounds at the 35.
- 1:23:45So they'll bring up a third down now and eight.
- 1:23:48Those two safeties for Green Bay, Steve Luke, the third year man out of Ohio State and Johnny Gray, the third year man out of Cal State Fullerton.
- 1:23:57They refer to them as the Hit Brothers.
- 1:24:01So a big third down player for the Bengals. Eight to go at the Packer 35.
- 1:24:05Brooks and Curtis go on opposite sides of the field. The cornerback on the right side, Mike McCoy, comes right up to the line of scrimmage with Curtis.
- 1:24:11Corbett goes in motion, back to throw, goes Anderson, fires down the middle, incomplete, down at the 20 yard line.
- 1:24:17Curtis was coming across and a flag is thrown back in front of where Anderson threw the ball.
- 1:24:23Roughing the passer is going to be called against the Green Bay Packers, a late hit on somebody and with hands on hits walking dejectedly up field is Ezra Johnson, a rookie.
- 1:24:31And it may have been assessed against him.
- 1:24:35So that will give the Bengals an automatic first down, get a break in the penalty department this time.
- 1:24:39But a walk off will take the ball from the 35 yard line, a line of scrimmage, all the way down to the 20.
- 1:24:51See if we can catch the number.
- 1:24:59Couldn't catch it. We're windowed in here so we can't pick up that D.A. outside.
- 1:25:05But it's down at the 20 yard line and the Bengals have a first down at that point.
- 1:25:09Philadelphia has a 21 to 7 lead over the New York Giants. That game apparently is at halftime.
- 1:25:19Curtis near side, Brooks split to the far side. Now Brooks comes into motion, Anderson hands the ball off.
- 1:25:23Wide around to the right side comes Elliott, gets the block, gets to the 15, along the sidelines to the 10 to the 5 and out of bounds perhaps at the 2 yard line.
- 1:25:30Elliott getting up a couple of good blocks along the way as he just picked his way behind his blockers coming down the right side.
- 1:25:36And McCoy and Gray finally ran him out of bounds at about the 2 and it will be first and goal.
- 1:25:42Bengals in the last two minutes of the first half and they have taken this opening kickoff and controlled the ball for almost 6 minutes now here in the third quarter.
- 1:25:50Have finally rounded into the kind of Cincinnati football team that we saw during that 5 and 1 record in preseason.
- 1:25:58Bob Trumpy is back in at tight end for the Bengals. Just shaking up momentarily with his shoulder or arm or perhaps both arms.
- 1:26:06But Trumpy is alright, first and goal at the 2. And off into the line, diving into the end zone for the touchdown goes Tony Davis.
- 1:26:12And he spikes that ball. Tony Davis diving through that right side landed a couple of yards deep in the end zone and the Bengals go out in front now by a score of 13 to 7.
- 1:26:21So the Bengals put together a good concerted 75 yard drive after taking their second half kickoff.
- 1:26:26Tony Davis punched in from 2 yards out and the Bengals go out in front now 13 to 7.
- 1:26:31One of his mothers listening on top of that hill outside of Omaha today. I don't think we reach out to that hillside in the daytime.
- 1:26:37We have to wait until it gets darker. Marvin Cobble, Chris Byer will attempt the extra point.
- 1:26:42Bonds are down, the ball is placed, the kick is high and up into the stands and it is good.
- 1:26:46So it's time out on the field. With the score now, Bengals 14 and the Packers 7.
- 1:26:51Here's a refreshing piece of news from Chevrolet. The new 78 Chevette 2 door hatchback has 18 new standard features.
- 1:26:59And the base manufacturer suggested retail price that's $282 less than the 77 model would have cost with the same equipment.
- 1:27:06That bears repeating. 18 features more, $282 less. You get a larger 1.6 liter engine,
- 1:27:14white striped tires, wheel trim range, floor mounted console, swing out rear windows,
- 1:27:19sports steering wheel and a quality built Delco AM radio just to name a few.
- 1:27:24The new Chevy Chevette 2 door hatchback, a lot more car for a lot less money.
- 1:27:29Here's more. Chevrolet is also introducing an all new Chevette 4 door hatchback
- 1:27:34with more rear seat leg room than the 1977 4 door models of Toyota Corolla,
- 1:27:38Datsun B210, even the Honda Civic Wagon. The 78 Chevettes, now at Chevy showrooms everywhere.
- 1:27:54Here at County Stadium in Milwaukee, nine minutes and nine seconds remaining.
- 1:27:58In the third quarter, the Bengals have taken a 14 to 7 lead.
- 1:28:01That Buffalo New York Jets game is final, but the scoreboard is partially blocked by the stands to our right.
- 1:28:07And it's difficult to see, so we'll have to wait until we get that score and we'll pass it on to you.
- 1:28:11The Jets won the ball game. There's Bars, kicked to Odom. It's high and it's very deep.
- 1:28:15Way back into the end zone, about five yards and Odom is going to try and come out.
- 1:28:19He's going to get to the 10, runs into his own man and then knocked down at about the 18 yard line.
- 1:28:23Odom gathered that ball at about five yards deep in the end zone and came out with it.
- 1:28:27Jerry Anderson was the man who leveled him at about the 18 yard line.
- 1:28:30Green Bay now has their hands on the ball for the first time here in the second half.
- 1:28:35They'll be starting out from their own 18.
- 1:28:37Bengals defensively, with the same group, Bacon and Burley,
- 1:28:43Walter Johnson and Eddie Edwards up front,
- 1:28:46LeClaire Harris Williams, the defensive secondary the same.
- 1:28:50They send Odom out wide to the right and split the backs.
- 1:28:53Hand off and into the right side and getting very little as Barty Smith just tried to move in over the right side.
- 1:28:59An off-tackle power play and Eddie Edwards was right there to stop it.
- 1:29:02And Gim Smith a couple of yards on the play. They put the ball out to the 20 yard line.
- 1:29:06It'll be second and eight.
- 1:29:08Bengals lead it 14 to seven now, 840 left to play in his third quarter.
- 1:29:17I would assume that's a halftime score now.
- 1:29:19Minnesota over Detroit 14 to nothing although it might be in the second period.
- 1:29:24Odom comes to the left this time.
- 1:29:26In the backs, Smith and Harrell line up in an eye.
- 1:29:28It's Harrell running wide around the right side.
- 1:29:30He's running into trouble and Jim LeClaire hauls him down at about the 21 yard line.
- 1:29:34Harrell trying to sweep wide to the right, had to avoid a tackler at about the 18.
- 1:29:38As he cut in up at the 21, LeClaire nailed him for a gain of just one yard in the play.
- 1:29:42And now it'll become third and seven.
- 1:29:44Again this afternoon, Jim LeClaire, the sixth grade 237 pound veteran out of North Dakota,
- 1:29:49a six-year man, has been all over that field.
- 1:29:52He takes charge of that defense in that middle linebacking position
- 1:29:56and has really developed into one of the top middle linebackers in the NFL.
- 1:30:00Ron Carpenter was scheduled to be released from the hospital this afternoon,
- 1:30:03have a disc operation in his back.
- 1:30:05Ron coming along well.
- 1:30:07Dickey going back to throw, fires a swing pass out to the right.
- 1:30:10At the 25, the man at the 21 yard line will be dropped.
- 1:30:13Barty Smith coming out of the backfield, ran into all kinds of problems on the far side of the field.
- 1:30:18Eddie Edwards had smelled it out and was over there to knock him down at the 22
- 1:30:22and so the Packers will have to punt it away.
- 1:30:24The Bengals could come out with pretty decent field position.
- 1:30:27So David Beverly back to do the booting for the Packers.
- 1:30:30In the first half of the game, the punting was not anything to write home about by either team.
- 1:30:35Beverly punted once for 35 and McAnally had a 35 and a half yard average on a couple.
- 1:30:40But Beverly with an average over 44 and a half coming into this game.
- 1:30:43There's a snap back, a big rush is on, very, very short kick high into the air.
- 1:30:48It landed about the Packers 43 and go out of bounds right there.
- 1:30:51It was passed by Scott Perry and Beverly punted that ball right straight up in the air
- 1:30:55and the Bengals will come out with excellent field position.
- 1:30:57So there's time out on the field with a score of Bengals 14, Packers 7.
- 1:31:02Over the last 25 years, computers have transcended from science fiction conjecture to reality.

- 1:32:03That 23-yard punt by the Packers' David Beverly gives the Bengals excellent field position
- 1:32:09with 6 minutes and 57 seconds remaining in the third quarter
- 1:32:12and the Bengals holding onto a 14-7 lead.
- 1:32:14Cincinnati will put the ball in play first and 10 at the Green Bay 44-yard line.
- 1:32:19The final round, New England blank to Seattle, Seahawks 31-0.
- 1:32:23Bengals up on the line of scrimmage at the Packer 44.
- 1:32:25Curtis tight right, Billy Brooks split out wide to the left.
- 1:32:29And up, Booby Clark running wide around the right side.
- 1:32:31Booby cuts in and powers his way ahead for 4 yards down to about the 40-yard line.
- 1:32:35Mike Butler, the big rookie, ought to hold him along with Jim Carter,
- 1:32:38Willie Buchanan, the cornerback on that side, also up to aid in the stop.
- 1:32:41They'll put the ball just a little bit shy of the 40-yard line,
- 1:32:44but for statistical purposes that's where it is.
- 1:32:46The Bengals now have a second and six.
- 1:32:51Bengals are due back at Greater Cincinnati Airport tonight shortly after 730
- 1:32:55on their United Airlines charter jet.
- 1:32:57Final now, the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Giants 28-10.
- 1:33:01Slot formation left.
- 1:33:02Trumpy is split out wide to the right.
- 1:33:04Quick pitch, Trumpy gets a cutback block at the alley and running wide right and gets to the 35.
- 1:33:09And that will be very close to what's needed for the first down.
- 1:33:12Carter and Weaver, the two linebackers, over there to make the stop.
- 1:33:15Trumpy went in motion toward the line of the scrimmage from his wide split on the right side.
- 1:33:20Cutback to get a block on the cornerback.
- 1:33:23And he powers the ball down to the 35-yard line where it'll be a five-yard gain
- 1:33:27and will result in a third and one.
- 1:33:31Now Tony Davis and Pete Johnson are back in the backfield for the Bengals.
- 1:33:35Short yardage, third and one.
- 1:33:37Seven men right up on the line of scrimmage.
- 1:33:41On-count handoff goes to Pete Johnson.
- 1:33:43He's got the first down plunging in over the right side,
- 1:33:45moves the ball down to perhaps the 33-yard line, the middle line, roller and purifoy,
- 1:33:49and help from a couple others there to bring it to a quick halt.
- 1:33:53But Pete Johnson did his job, picked up the first down, and the Bengals have it at the pack 33.
- 1:33:57Bengals leading 14-7, scoring in the final 30 seconds of that first half to tie it up
- 1:34:03and then coming out for the second half of the 75-yard drive after taking the opening kickoff
- 1:34:08to go out in front 14-7.
- 1:34:10Very methodical drive, 15 plays, and they used up almost six minutes.
- 1:34:155.07, time left in the third quarter.
- 1:34:17Slot formation left. Curtis wide.
- 1:34:19Handoff in over the left side goes Pete Johnson.
- 1:34:21There isn't much there. He gets maybe a yard and that's about all.
- 1:34:25The Lin-Vilelli is back in the ball game.
- 1:34:27Ezra Johnson, the other rookie in at the right-hand spot in place of second-year man Bob Barber,
- 1:34:32made the stop.
- 1:34:33So there was no gain on the play by Elliott, and at the 33 it becomes second and 10.
- 1:34:39Clock running down to 4.42 left in this third period.
- 1:34:44Final hour, Oakland beat the Browns 26-10.
- 1:34:47The Browns got a late touchdown in the ball game.
- 1:34:50Wide men on both sides. Curtis fireside, Billy Brooks on the near side.
- 1:34:53Packers come across and flags go down.
- 1:34:55Anderson back to throw.
- 1:34:56Fires it down. Brooks catches it on the 18 on a quick slant and goes down there.
- 1:35:01But flags were down. The Packers had jumped offside.
- 1:35:03If they were not pulled offside, the Bengals of course will take the play.
- 1:35:06Billy Brooks running a deep slant or perhaps a post, whatever you want to call it,
- 1:35:10went up high to grab the ball and went down and Buchanan put him down right at the 18.
- 1:35:15Great reception that time by Billy Brooks. He had to make a diving stab for it.
- 1:35:19And that's one of the questions that fans have been asking this week.
- 1:35:22Why not throw more to Billy Brooks, a first-round draft choice a year ago.
- 1:35:25Coming into the ball game, he'd had only five receptions for 53 yards.
- 1:35:31So now Glenn Buschnack checks in.
- 1:35:33John Shinners goes out as the Bengals continue to messenger through their left guard.
- 1:35:37The offside penalty declined by the Bengals and they'll take the ball down at the Packer 18.
- 1:35:42Brooks now has three receptions this afternoon for 31 yards.
- 1:35:51Brooks goes out to the left. Curtis comes to the right.
- 1:35:53Curtis caught an 80-yard touchdown pass.
- 1:35:55Those final few seconds of the first half to get the Bengals into a tie.
- 1:35:59Booby Clark and Elliott are the running backs. Wide split behind Anderson.
- 1:36:02Anderson to Clark up the middle. Hold is there. Booby gets down to the 15.
- 1:36:05Tries to swing out to the left and is going to be dropped right about at the 15-yard line by Steve Luke, the strong safety.
- 1:36:10Good, hard, punishing tackler. Clark makes free on the play to the 15 and it'll be second and seven.
- 1:36:16During this third quarter now, the Bengals have had the ball for 21 plays.
- 1:36:20The Packers have run only three plays and then were forced to punt.
- 1:36:23And that was that 23-yard punt by David Beverly that set the Bengals up in excellent field position at the Packers 44.
- 1:36:33Now a double-wing formation with Clark, the only back in behind Anderson.
- 1:36:36Out of the double-wing to the left is Linville Elliott.
- 1:36:40Cornerbacks come up the line of scrimmage as Anderson goes back to throw.
- 1:36:42Fires down in the corner. It's intercepted and out of bounds at the 3-yard line by Steve Luke.
- 1:36:48It was intended down in the corner for Billy Brooks and Luke stepped in front of the ball and intercepted it.
- 1:36:53Unfortunately for the Bengals, he ran out of bounds. His momentum carried him out because there was nobody along that near sideline.
- 1:36:59Anderson intercepted for the first time today and now there's time out on the field with the score Bengals 14, Packers 7.
- 1:37:06Sometimes it's going down, the last one's coming on down. When friends come together, you just want to be alone.
- 1:37:18Oh, it's a fun time, there's no other team. All the way, we're rolling in game, and you won't be here.
- 1:37:27It's happy beauty time, it's happy beauty time. And we're happy in the happy right here, in happy beauty time.
- 1:37:38Hey, happy, happy, happy beauty time. It's happy beauty time, it's happy beauty time.
- 1:37:48And we're happy in the happy right here, in happy beauty time. Hey, happy, happy, happy beauty time.
- 1:38:00The pride of Cincinnati's great brewing tradition. Beautiful Brewing Company, Cincinnati, Ohio.
- 1:38:06That pass interception by Steve Luke, the strong safety for the Green Bay Packers, 6'2, 200 pounder, 30-year man out of Ohio State.
- 1:38:14Played for Woody Hayes, was drafted fourth in 1975 when he was at Ohio State. He played both corner, back, and center.
- 1:38:20Last year for the Packers, he started 12 games, and he's in there again, and that's starting strong safety.
- 1:38:25That's only the second pass the Packers have intercepted this season, and Luke has them both.
- 1:38:29So the Packers start out deep at their own three yard line.
- 1:38:33Willard Harrell and Barty Smith as the running backs. They come out in an eye, handoff goes to the second man, Harrell.
- 1:38:39He wiggles his way out to about the five yard line as he's planted in off right tackle.
- 1:38:44Drag down over there by Walter Johnson, along with Burley.
- 1:38:47Gettie Edwards also into the stop. Let's pause 15 seconds for station identification.
- 1:38:51This is the Cincinnati Bengals football network.
- 1:38:54This is the voice of the Cincinnati Bengals in central Ohio, WMNI.
- 1:38:59Follow the football action of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
- 1:39:02Saturday afternoons, here on your sports leader, WMNI in Columbus.
- 1:39:09Packers up at the line of scrimmage.
- 1:39:11This time to handoff to the second man, Barty Smith, and he plunges out to the 10 and gets out to the 12 yard line as he comes to the left side.
- 1:39:18Before he can be dragged down by Walter Johnson, good blocking on the left side of the Packer line by big Mark Concar, the second year man from Colorado, and Steve Knutson.
- 1:39:25And they're just about a yard short of a first down out of the 12, and it'll be third and one.
- 1:39:30Nothing fancy about that play at all, just sheer power inoff left tackle.
- 1:39:342.38, the time remaining here in the third period. Bengals lead the Packers 14 to 7.
- 1:39:42Bengals looking for the stopper right here again to force the Packers to punt from deep in their own territory.
- 1:39:47Smith and Harrell are running backs. He goes to Harrell in off the right side, and he gets to the 15 yard line and has the first down.
- 1:39:53Little Willard Harrell slanted in off right tackle, got the first down as he moved it out over the 15 yard line and back to about the 16.
- 1:40:01Very slow to unpile, there's a big pile of Packers and Bengals right about at the point of attack.
- 1:40:06So it's first and 10, and Green Bay is out of that desperate hole they were in back at the three yard line.
- 1:40:12Clock running, we're down to just 2.05 left in the third period.
- 1:40:18The Shadows beginning to settle in over Milwaukee County Stadium at the end of the field where we're playing now, the remainder of the field is still bathed in sunshine.
- 1:40:28One wide receiver to the right, everybody else is tight. This time it's Willard Harrell around the right side and he crawls forward for about a yard as he tried to dive in over a pack.
- 1:40:35Jim LeClair got a hand on him as LeClair shot in the gap.
- 1:40:39Bo Harrell is the left side linebacker, was down at the bottom of the pack and he kind of had to ball it over that, and then he was pinned down for good at about the 17.
- 1:40:46So give Harrell one and it will be second and nine.
- 1:40:49Much of the rushing yardage that the Packers have picked up this afternoon has been from the vaulting type of run that was just exhibited there by Harrell.
- 1:40:57Harrell, Turkelson, Smith, all of them a lot of times have found those holes closed up and have had to vault over a pile of bodies to pick up yardage.
- 1:41:04Now they split both the wide men, paying it on them out. The handoff goes to Harrell, he gets in over the right side and manages to wiggle his way out to about the 20 yard line.
- 1:41:11That's all, Gary Burley, the left end, nailed him.
- 1:41:14And that's a 20 now, the Packers will look at a third and six.
- 1:41:20Dickie was six out of 11 in the first half of this ballgame, so now Randy Bataha checks in to replace Burt Asperden.
- 1:41:30They swing Odom out to the left, the ring Bataha out to the right.
- 1:41:34Keres goes up on the line of scrimmage, Roddy plays back. Dickie goes back to throw, looks, fires out the right flat, it's caught by Harrell, gets away from one man at the 25, comes up to the 30 and dragged down from behind at the 40 by Gary Burley.
- 1:41:48Swung it out in the right flat, Bataha got a good block, Harrell took it out over there.
- 1:41:53And Lamar Keres was kind of helpless over there as the blocker was coming over to help out.
- 1:41:58And Burley had to run him down from behind and finally hauled him down at the 41 after the play picked up 21.
- 1:42:04And Green Bay is really out of the hole now and moving at their own 41.
- 1:42:08That'll be the last play of the third quarter as we're down in the final five seconds now.
- 1:42:13And we'll change ends of the field before anything more is done offensively or defensively.
- 1:42:17The gun sounds at the end of the third quarter. We'll destroy Bengals 14 and the Packers seven.
- 1:42:24When you have a family you just have to love.

- 1:43:15Everybody just keeps you alone.
- 1:43:22Hi, this is the music.
- 1:43:25You're listening to the voice of the Cincinnati Bengals in central Ohio, WMNI,
- 1:43:31where you'll hear the best in country music.
- 1:43:34We are your good neighbor, WMNI.
- 1:43:38In Cone County Stadium, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the Cincinnati Bengals lead the Green Bay Packers 14 to 7.
- 1:43:44We're starting the fourth and final quarter, the Packers ball, first and 10 at their own 41-yard line.
- 1:43:49On the scoreboard, Minnesota leading Detroit 14 to nothing, second quarter, San Diego leading New Orleans 7 to nothing in the second.
- 1:43:55Philadelphia defeated the New York Giants by a score of 28 to 10.
- 1:43:59The Oakland Raiders picked up their 17th straight victory.
- 1:44:03The record is 18, held by Chicago twice and Miami.
- 1:44:06Oakland won their 17th in a row this afternoon, beating Cleveland 26 to 10.
- 1:44:10Pittsburgh leads Houston 10 to 7, that is in the third quarter now, and New England defeated Seattle 31 to nothing.
- 1:44:17They have rookie Nate Simpson from Tennessee State in the running back spot now, along with Barty Smith.
- 1:44:23Ashton comes in, they have only owed him split wide to the left.
- 1:44:26Handoff is to Simpson, he circles wide around the left side, and he gets away from one man,
- 1:44:30he'll get up to 45 and knocked out of bounds about there by Marvin Cobb.
- 1:44:34Managed to elude Reggie Williams back at about the 40.
- 1:44:37Got out wide, Cobb came up to knock him down, so Simpson carries wide left on his first 4A into the lineup here this afternoon.
- 1:44:44Packers at the 45 will now be looking at a second and six.
- 1:44:48Bengals lead at 14 to 7 as we enter this fourth and final quarter of play.
- 1:44:52The four o'clock games are all getting underway, Atlanta and San Francisco, Dallas and St. Louis, and Kansas City and Denver.
- 1:44:58We have nothing on the Washington-Tampa Bay game, that is not up on the board.
- 1:45:02And the Bears and Rams, of course, play tomorrow night.
- 1:45:04And high formation now with Simpson, the deep man, Barty Smith up short.
- 1:45:07The pitch back to Simpson, comes running wide to the right.
- 1:45:09There isn't much of any place to go, but he makes about five yards still on his feet and gets into the Bengals territory.
- 1:45:14It'll be hauled down at about the 47.
- 1:45:17Reggie Williams finally had to put the soccer on him, and it looked as though he might be stopped back at about the 45-yard line.
- 1:45:23And the Bengals have been guilty of some sloppy tackling this afternoon, right from the first offensive series that the Packers had.
- 1:45:30The tackling has not been crisp and sharp at all.
- 1:45:33So it's a first down for Green Bay at the Packer or at the Bengals 47-yard line.
- 1:45:39So Simpson in the lineup carries twice, picks up the necessary yardage for the first down.
- 1:45:44Again, they line up in an high formation.
- 1:45:46Odom is split left.
- 1:45:47And off goes to the short man, this time Barty Smith, and he's nailed by Burley right at the line of scrimmage.
- 1:45:51Burley just sliced in from that left-hand spot and nailed Barty Smith right at the line of scrimmage.
- 1:45:57The ball right at the 47, where the Packers will have a second and ten.
- 1:46:02Just under 14 minutes remaining in this game.
- 1:46:05A week from tomorrow night, the Bengals and the Steelers, the first meeting of the year over at Three Rivers in Pittsburgh.
- 1:46:10Packers up to this point have gained 199 yards on the afternoon, the Bengals 217.
- 1:46:16Houston is tied up Pittsburgh in the third period at ten.
- 1:46:19Asks him to the right, Odom to the left.
- 1:46:22Dickey goes straight back to throw.
- 1:46:24Blitz is on it, fired it out of the flat, and Simpson is going to be hit out there and dragged down by Ken Roddy back at the Packer 46.
- 1:46:30The blitz was on, Reggie Williams, I think it was, was coming, and he had to dump that ball off in a hurry.
- 1:46:35And Ken Roddy came up in the cornerback spot on the right to dunk him for a loss of about six from the Bengals 47 back to the Packers 47.
- 1:46:42And now it becomes third and 16.
- 1:46:46A couple of new players check into the Packer backfield.
- 1:46:49Randy Vitaha is one of them.
- 1:46:51Asks him, goes out.
- 1:46:53Payne and Vitaha are the two wide receivers. They come out to the right.
- 1:47:00They split their tight end out to the left, their double wing, and back to throw goes Dickey.
- 1:47:05Looks, fires the ball down the middle.
- 1:47:07It's dropped at the 45-yard line. Reaching high was Vitaha.
- 1:47:10The ball actually was a little bit behind him, reached as high as he could, had the ball on his fingertips momentarily, and then it got away.
- 1:47:17So David Beverly will come in to boot.
- 1:47:20And the Bengals will get their hands on the football once again here with 12-47 left to play in the game.
- 1:47:25Well, the Houston Oilers are giving the Pittsburgh Steelers, at least up to this time, a very, very surprisingly tough ball game.
- 1:47:33Houston has 17 rookies on that ball club, and most of them are on offense.
- 1:47:39Alana Skirmi is the 46. The snap back to Beverly gets the punt away.
- 1:47:43A lazy high punted Willie Shelby will take it to 10. Tries to get around to the right, and the captain is dropped by one of the two wide men downfield 100 times.
- 1:47:51We got him back at about the 8.
- 1:47:53Delta's time out on the field. Score, Bengals 14, Packers 7.
- 1:47:57The winter of 77 was rough, and it was mean, and it was cold.
- 1:48:04And it took more fuel oil to keep everything going than anybody believed possible.
- 1:48:09And it took more heart. Longer hours, shorter nights, and emergencies are the way of life.
- 1:48:14If it was ever a time when getting together would do it better, the winter of 77 was here.
- 1:48:20There are heroes you'll never hear about, stories that will never be told.
- 1:48:24But probably the best story about the winter of 77 is what couldn't happen.
- 1:48:28And all the people who didn't run out of oil, because they're a marathon fuel oil, either, got there in time.
- 1:48:34And he got there because he wanted better, because that's the only way he could have it.
- 1:48:39We got together to do it better.
- 1:48:43We got together to do it better.
- 1:48:46We got together to do it better.
- 1:48:53That's not oil, Captain. We got together to do it better. We do it.
- 1:49:00There's David Beverly, who punted once the first half for a 35-yard average, that one punt going 35.
- 1:49:05Got one away here when he needed it. This last one, 44 yards.
- 1:49:09And the Bengals, because of the change in field position at the end of the quarter,
- 1:49:13are now starting out almost exactly where the Packers started out when they got the ball with 3.38 to go in the third quarter.
- 1:49:19They started first and ten at the three-yard line. The Bengals are five yards farther upfield.
- 1:49:23They have a first and ten at their own eight-yard line, 12 minutes and 37 seconds remaining in the ballgame.
- 1:49:29And the Bengals lead it by a score of 14 to 7.
- 1:49:32The Bengals will be home two weeks from this afternoon to take on the Denver Broncos.
- 1:49:35The Broncos going for their fourth consecutive win against Kansas City this afternoon.
- 1:49:39And that Denver Bronco game with the Bengals is sandwiched right in between Denver's two games with the Oakland Raiders.
- 1:49:46Booby Clark and Elliott at the running backs.
- 1:49:50Bengals come out with a slot formation to the left.
- 1:49:53Elliott goes in motion off to the right side, and the handoff goes to Clark.
- 1:49:56He goes wide right, cuts in, Booby gets out to the ten, and his hit hard at about the 11-yard line will be swarmed down
- 1:50:01by three or four Packers there led by Carter.
- 1:50:05They went to the same side that Len Villelli had was put in motion.
- 1:50:08Got the ball out to the 12-yard line, make it, so give them four.
- 1:50:11And the Bengals now have a second and six.
- 1:50:13Both the home bench and the visiting bench here at County Stadium is on the far side of the field,
- 1:50:18and both coaches are at a disadvantage now because where they're playing,
- 1:50:21The coaches are looking directly into that setting sun.
- 1:50:25Curtis comes to the left, Bill Brooks comes to the right.
- 1:50:28Curtis has caught just one pass this afternoon.
- 1:50:30That was for the touchdown.
- 1:50:32And a handoff, Elliott sneaking his way through the line, breaks out over the 15,
- 1:50:36gets out to about the 17-yard line, and Clarence Williams in at the left-end spot in place of Mike Butler got him,
- 1:50:41or he might have romped off a pretty long way because there was open field in front of him.
- 1:50:45And up, Pete Johnson and Tony Davis check in on the third-and-one situation at the 17.
- 1:50:51This has been the Bengals' operation this afternoon.
- 1:50:55Elliott and Clark have been the regular backs, and then when they go to the short-yardage situation,
- 1:50:58third-and-one or third-and-two or second down, or what the case may be,
- 1:51:01by Pete Johnson and Tony Davis have gone into the game.
- 1:51:04Packers bunch them in tight. They have seven men right up on the line of scrimmage.
- 1:51:08Bengals' offensive formation is tight as Pete Johnson into the middle.
- 1:51:11Pete wiggles his way out to perhaps around the 18-yard line, just about what he needed for the first down.
- 1:51:17Ezra Johnson and a host of others, and just all depends now on where they're going to spot that football.
- 1:51:22They're still un-potting them down there, and you can't see what's what yet.
- 1:51:27Elliott and Davis are coming back onto the field, so they think it was the first down,
- 1:51:31but now we finally get the way cleared, and we can't see the ball because of the Green Bay Packers players
- 1:51:36standing around, and as close enough they're going to bring in the chains to measure.
- 1:51:3911-13 is the time remaining here in the ball game, and the Bengals have a 14-7 lead over the Packers.
- 1:51:46It looks like it's just about a half a yard ahead of that stake. It just is, just over the stake.
- 1:51:51Pete Johnson just picked up the yard he needed.
- 1:51:54Now the Bengals hold onto the ball here at their own 18-yard line, and have the first down,
- 1:51:59as they've moved it out from the eight. Clock shows 11-13 left to play.
- 1:52:02Bengals lead it 14-7, tying the game up late in the first half,
- 1:52:06then taking the opening kickoff of the third quarter, moving 75 yards to score.
- 1:52:10Park and Elliott back on the backfield, tight left. Brooks split to the right side.
- 1:52:15And off in over right tackle goes Booby Clark, and he's got a couple of yards.
- 1:52:19He crosses the 20, gets out to about the 22 before he's hurled back by Carter and Weaver.
- 1:52:24So Booby will get about three in the play, perhaps four.
- 1:52:30John Shinners checks in with the play as Glenn Bushnock checks out.
- 1:52:33Shinners had that dislocated toe suffered a couple of weeks ago,
- 1:52:36and this is the first time that he has seen action since that toe problem.
- 1:52:40They put it down at the 22, and that will make it second and six.
- 1:52:46Curtis and Brooks come in a slot formation out of the left. Curtis the wide man.
- 1:52:50McCoy about eight yards off that line of skirmish.
- 1:52:52And up, Booby Clark running to the outside. Booby gets to the 25, going right.
- 1:52:56Crosses to about the 26-yard line, made about four more yards on that play.
- 1:53:00A straight slant to the right. Barber, the second-year defensive end from Grambling, made the stop.
- 1:53:07The 26-yard line out will be third and two, and again Davis and Pete Johnson check back into the Bengal backfield.
- 1:53:12I guess you can say it was almost by accident that he discovered Darcy Griffin's cracked rib this week.
- 1:53:16He went to the doctor to have an injured toe x-ray. That was all right, but it was then they found the cracked rib.
- 1:53:23Now the Packers bunch in tightly in the third and two situation.
- 1:53:26It's just a matter of strength against strength.
- 1:53:28Running to the outside, Tony Davis, the flag is down, and he's knocked down for a loss on the play, but a flag was thrown.
- 1:53:34And let's get the call. It's holding, the preliminary call against the Bengals.
- 1:53:37The Packers will probably refuse it because the Bengals will have to punt the football away.
- 1:53:45Davis was knocked down for a loss of about a yard as he attempted to swing out to his right.
- 1:53:50Now the Packers are changing units, so they'll decline the penalty, and they'll take over the football.
- 1:53:56Or rather, the Bengals will be forced to punt it from their own 25.
- 1:53:59So little Willard Harrell drops back along with Johnny Gray, and twin safeties for the Packers.
- 1:54:04And Pat McAnally, who has not got off any good McAnally boomers this afternoon, will try to leg them down the field.
- 1:54:12The Packers' safety men don't show much respect.
- 1:54:15They're only about 35 yards downfield. Harrell, the deepest man.
- 1:54:19In fact, less than that. He's only about 32. Now he's going to back up.
- 1:54:22It's a bit of a caveat. His sights readjusted a little bit, moved back about three yards.
- 1:54:31Lines are down, waiting for the snap, and there it is.
- 1:54:34McAnally gets the boot away and is right to Harrell at the 40.
- 1:54:37Now he tries to go wide around Scott Perry, gets them, drags them down back at about the 37.
- 1:54:41Scott Perry, one of the wide men. And that certainly was not much of a boot that time by McAnally.
- 1:54:46He's covered about 34 yards, and there's time out on the field with the score of Bengals 14 Packers 7.
- 1:54:52Some people wonder, why spend money on replacement windows when they already have good windows in their home?
- 1:54:57Well, maybe some of these new sash customer letters will help you understand why.
- 1:55:01Dear Mr. Johnson, I wondered about spending money on new sash windows, but my reservations are now gone.
- 1:55:07My wife thinks they're beautiful and very easy to clean.
- 1:55:09But the amazing thing is that they keep the thermostat on 65 degrees all winter long,
- 1:55:13and our furnace only comes on four or five times a day instead of 10 or 15 times in the past.
- 1:55:18Thank you. Our new sash windows are paying for themselves.
- 1:55:21While fuel savings are important to you this winter, give Bill Johnson a call at 267-8396.
- 1:55:27New sash is the only window with a good housekeeping seal of approval,
- 1:55:31and new sash replacement windows are custom made for a perfect fit.
- 1:55:34Call Bill Johnson at 267-8396, and let him show you how to save up to 30 percent or more in heating costs.
- 1:55:42That 24-hour number again, 267-8396. Always ask for the original new sash.
- 1:55:49We'll put them all in play, first and 10 of their own 37-yard line.
- 1:55:53Quarterback Lynn Dickey will have running backs Willard Harrell and Marty Smith in behind him.
- 1:55:58His wide receivers are Steve Odom, the 5-foot, 8-inch Mighty Mite from Utah, 174 pounder,
- 1:56:04and Ken Payne, the four-year veteran out of Langston.
- 1:56:09Odom is the guy ran back up on about 90 yards here a few years ago when the Bengals were up here for a preseason game.
- 1:56:15They send him out to the left. The Packers ready to go with their own 37.
- 1:56:24Lynn Dickey fakes, goes back on play, action to throw. Now he's forced out of the pocket, runs off to the right,
- 1:56:29looking still, out fires at a mile down the field, and it is incomplete.
- 1:56:32Over the head of everybody who jumped for it down at the 15-yard line.
- 1:56:36Bert Askson was the intended receiver, and Riley and Ferris were back there,
- 1:56:40and I really think Dickey just threw it away because he saw that he was well covered.
- 1:56:43He was flushed out of the pocket and had to drift off to his left,
- 1:56:46and Nikoi Bacon could not get around the blocker to get over to him.
- 1:56:50Dickey just planted himself and let it go. So it comes all the way back to the 37 where it'll be second and 10.
- 1:56:56That took nine seconds up at the clock. Clock is set now with nine minutes and 20 seconds to go.
- 1:57:01Dickey nine for 16 on the afternoon. He threw the 14-yard touchdown pass to Barty Smith.
- 1:57:10They put wide receivers on both sides, Smith and Harrell, in behind Dickey, second and 10 Packers at their own 37.
- 1:57:15A straight drop back this time by Dickey. Flips it over the middle.
- 1:57:18It's caught by McGeorge, the tight end, and he's dropped at about the 42.
- 1:57:21A little pass off to the left to Rich McGeorge, the tight end, who is drifting off into that flat.
- 1:57:26Reggie Williams got over there to collar him at about the 43.
- 1:57:29They got about six yards on the play, and the Packers now will have a third and four.
- 1:57:34Down to 8.58 remaining to be played in the game. The Bengals have a 14-7 lead over Green Bay.
- 1:57:39Away from tomorrow night, the Bengals and Steelers over at Three Rivers.
- 1:57:42Two weeks from this afternoon, the Bengals and Denver Broncos at Riverfront Stadium.
- 1:57:49No reports this afternoon on the Kansas City-Denver game.
- 1:57:52That being played at Mile High Stadium in Denver, and that one just got underway about 20 minutes ago.
- 1:57:56Hayden and Odom split on opposite sides. Dickey juggles a snap, but goes back to throw, and Ilobs it out in the flat, and it's incomplete.
- 1:58:01And Tennifer Barty Smith right over there with him was Bo Harris, and they arrived at about the same time.
- 1:58:06And the pass was incomplete, so the Packers will have to punt it away.
- 1:58:15So the clock has stopped. 8.30 left, and David Beverly will go into, booted away to Willie Shelby.
- 1:58:20The Bengals were going to have Lamar Parrish return punt, but when Parrish returned, only his second one this year,
- 1:58:25he came up with a case of bruised ribs and left him to that.
- 1:58:28And Parrish has not been back there since.
- 1:58:30There's a snap back to Beverly. Again, a big rush is on, and he gets a good high spiral away.
- 1:58:35Willie Shelby drifts over the right and then lets the ball go, and it bounces out of bounds down at about the Bengals' 18-yard line.
- 1:58:42So the Bengals will put it in play there. There's a time out on the field. Score remains, Bengals 14, Packers 7.
- 1:58:49See what's new today in Chevrolet. The dealer is inviting you to come see what's new today.
- 1:58:57Time for Chevrolet. You'll see what's up my Chevy next of all.
- 1:59:01This year, your Chevy dealer has more good news about more new Chevrolets than you've seen in years.
- 1:59:07The new third generation Monte Carlo. The new size Chevy Malibu. The new size Malibu wagon.
- 1:59:13The new four-door Chevy Chevette hatchback. These plus the new Chevrolet Caprice. New Chevy Montes.
- 1:59:19A new Camaro. Even a new silver anniversary Corvette. So come on in America and see what's new.
- 1:59:26So come on in and see what's new today. You'll see it in the Chevrolet. Come on in, come on in. You'll see it in the Chevrolet.
- 1:59:43See what's new today.
- 1:59:50A couple of updates on the scoreboard. Now in the third quarter, the Houston Oilers have Pittsburgh by a score of 17 to 10.
- 1:59:57In the first period, the St. Louis Cardinals lead Dallas 3 to nothing. Bengals have it first and 10 at their own 18-yard line.
- 2:00:038.23 to go in the ballgame. Bengals lead the Packers 14 to 7.
- 2:00:07Clark and Elliott. Running backs. There's been a good, bruising defensive struggle here.
- 2:00:11Hand off. Around the outside goes Elliott. There isn't much of any place to go and he's going to wind up losing about three or four.
- 2:00:17He's really corralled by a couple of Packers on the far side of the field. One Willie Buchanan, a cornerback over on that side.
- 2:00:23There just wasn't any place to go and that one will cost the Bengals about three yards.
- 2:00:27Back to the 17-yard line. It'll be second and 13.
- 2:00:31Clock running. We're down to eight minutes remaining to be played in this game.
- 2:00:35Jester Markol has missed one field goal for the Packers. The Bengals have not attempted a field goal this afternoon.
- 2:00:41Packers scored first. The Bengals tied it up in the final 30 seconds of the first half.
- 2:00:45Brooks to the far side. Curtis to the near side. Again, the cornerback's about eight yards off that line of scrimmage.
- 2:00:50As Anderson on play, action goes back to throw. Fires it down the middle. Trumpy catches it and goes down at the 39.
- 2:00:56Trumpy caught that ball right straight down the middle.
- 2:01:01And as he was hit, now Trumpy is down on the field at the 39. I believe he may have gotten it in the back as he turned around.
- 2:01:07Trumpy was facing around toward his left and then had to turn around and was rolling down looking toward his right as he came up with the ball.
- 2:01:14Johnny Gray came up to put him down and he may have gotten a knee into Trumpy because Trumpy is requiring some attention down there at the 40 yard line.
- 2:01:22Mark Collins, the trainer, and Dr. Timberman are both out on the field with Trumpy. He's back up on his feet now.
- 2:01:30So the Bengals find that middle open and Kenny Anderson hits Trumpy. That's the second time that Trumpy has been shaken up this afternoon.
- 2:01:38Now, Trumpy, of course, and Bob Johnson are the only original Bengals remaining, both in season number 10.
- 2:01:44And Trumpy has talked about the possibility before that this might be his final year of professional football.
- 2:01:50But that we shall find out sometime during the offseason probably. The Bengals have first in 10 now at their own 40.
- 2:01:58The Cardinals have a 3-0 lead over Dallas. That's in the first period.
- 2:02:05The Bengals have a left-slot formation to the right. Bengals out at their own 40.
- 2:02:09Handoff goes to Clark, punches his way into the left side and gets perhaps three yards.
- 2:02:14He was hit right about at the 40 yard line, but he shook off one tackler and then got out and looped.
- 2:02:19Along with Ezra Johnson, the rookie, has been playing a end spot for the Packers much of the second half combined to make the stop.
- 2:02:27So Clark was held a three and it'll be second and seven at the Bengals 43.
- 2:02:33Bengals lead it 14 to 7. Curtis comes to the near side. Bill Brooks goes to the far side.
- 2:02:38All teams this year have had their cornerbacks off about eight yards on the line of scrimmage, where the Packers have played all afternoon.
- 2:02:44The Blitz is on as Anderson goes back to throw. He's got a quick out on the far side.
- 2:02:47Billy Brooks eludes one man down to the 40 yard line and all the way down to the 35.
- 2:02:51A good move on that deep out by Billy Brooks over on the far side of the field.
- 2:02:55The Blitz was on. Two linebackers were coming.
- 2:02:57And then Brooks caught the pass, stepped away from the cornerback over on that side,
- 2:03:01and actually made about seven or eight more yards to the point where he caught the ball down to the Packer 35.
- 2:03:06So that play is good for 22 and a quick first down.
- 2:03:08Good move, as Bill said, by Billy Brooks.
- 2:03:10And you could almost see those wheels spinning as he took that pass, anticipating what that defender was going to do.
- 2:03:15And it was a one-on-one, head-on-head duel at that time. And who was going to out-guess who?
- 2:03:19Jenny Anderson, 12 for 16 now for 167. Of course, the one touchdown.
- 2:03:23Slot formation right. Hand off to Clark, the first man into the left side.
- 2:03:26And Booby fights his way forward for about three or four yards to the 31.
- 2:03:30Jim Corbett, the tight end, blocking on that side as they ran the strong side slant.
- 2:03:34Again, Ezra Johnson was the man who was in on the stop.
- 2:03:37This Packer, defensive front four, has been completely rebuilt this year.
- 2:03:41Mike McCoy, of course, held down that left tackle spot for a number of years.
- 2:03:45At one point early in the season, the Packers switched them over to offense.
- 2:03:48That didn't last long. Then brought them back to defense.
- 2:03:51And then finally shipped them off to the Oakland Raiders.
- 2:03:53So Mike Butler, the rookie, had taken over one spot.
- 2:03:55Now Ezra Johnson and Bob Barber in there with Curafoy and Roller.
- 2:03:59As the tackles.
- 2:04:02Corbett goes in motion out to the right, second and six.
- 2:04:05Bengals back, stumped out the land ball out here to get the block.
- 2:04:07Cuts inside, gets to the 30, down to the 25, to the 20,
- 2:04:10and will run out of bounds inside at about the 19.
- 2:04:13Forced out of bounds by Gray and McCoy.
- 2:04:15He had to wait until Bushnock and Bob Johnson could get over there
- 2:04:19for the freeing blocks on that half-back screen left.
- 2:04:22And then he cut inside and had the room then and got it out of the 19-yard line.
- 2:04:26So gained about 12 yards on the play and another first down.
- 2:04:29It's great to watch the blocking developer on that half-back screen.
- 2:04:32You see Elliott come out there and take that pass,
- 2:04:34and you think to yourself immediately he is in deep trouble.
- 2:04:37And all of a sudden you see Bushnock and Bob Johnson coming out there
- 2:04:40and setting up to take out the men they're supposed to,
- 2:04:43and Elliott finds the running room he needs.
- 2:04:45Bengals right down near the shortstop position on the dirt.
- 2:04:48And off to Booby Clark, in over the left side,
- 2:04:50and Booby Clunk is his way forward inside the 15,
- 2:04:52dragging a couple of tacklers with him, gets it to the 14-yard line.
- 2:04:56Man who had him was Clarence Williams,
- 2:04:58and he got some more help before Booby dragged it ahead for about five yards
- 2:05:01to the 14-yard line, and it will be second and five.
- 2:05:06And with that, Glenn Bushnock checks back into the lineup.
- 2:05:08He and John Shinners are the messenger guards this afternoon.
- 2:05:11Shinners, number 64, trots off the field.
- 2:05:13Bushnock has come in with a play for Kenny Anderson.
- 2:05:16Clark unofficially has 17 carries for 86 yards this afternoon,
- 2:05:20and that's five a pop.
- 2:05:22Time remaining, 4.25.
- 2:05:24Bengals lead at 14-7, threatening again.
- 2:05:26Billy Brooks goes in motion from left over to the far side of the field.
- 2:05:29Anderson with the ball, drops back, sets it up.
- 2:05:31Brooks is open, but a flag is down, and the 15 is stripped up to the 13.
- 2:05:36Berm Holland, after a guy, that's McCoy over there, he gave Holland a shove,
- 2:05:41and Holland took exception to it, came back and let one fly at him,
- 2:05:44and two teams quickly get over there to break it up.
- 2:05:46The flag was thrown right over near the point where the ball was caught.
- 2:05:51Holland was pulling out over there.
- 2:05:52He may have thrown a block at McCoy, or it may have been a clip.
- 2:05:54Let's see what it's going to be.
- 2:05:55Suki usually doesn't get rattled like that, but he kind of took exception to that shove.
- 2:06:00It was absolutely useless by McCoy because they were away from the play,
- 2:06:04and the play was over.
- 2:06:05Then Holland let one right fly at him.
- 2:06:07It may hurt his hand.
- 2:06:09We'll see what the penalty call is.
- 2:06:12The Bengals are going backwards, so I would assume that it is going to be against them.
- 2:06:16Let's get the preliminary call.
- 2:06:17It's an illegal procedure against the Bengals.
- 2:06:20And Holland has gone off the field.
- 2:06:21I don't know if he has been ejected.
- 2:06:23Did not.
- 2:06:26No, he's still on the field.
- 2:06:30The officials are still trying to decide this one, just see what they want to do with the ball.
- 2:06:35We've got unsportsmanlike conduct against the Bengals,
- 2:06:38and that will come back on the 14-yard line, and it will remain second and five.
- 2:06:44And many of the 53,653 in attendance didn't like that call.
- 2:06:49They actually sold 54,687 tickets today.
- 2:06:52That means there were 1,034 no-shows.
- 2:06:56The attendance, 53,653.
- 2:06:59Now the Packers are questioning the call, and now Bob Johnson comes over to the court.
- 2:07:05And now Bob Johnson comes over to get into the thing,
- 2:07:09and McCoy is unhappy about it because he was called to the unsportsmanlike conduct,
- 2:07:12and a couple of his teammates drag him away and none too gently.
- 2:07:19Because of his action and shoving Holland, and then Holland returning the favor,
- 2:07:24by a couple of offsetting unsportsmanlike conduct penalties were called.
- 2:07:28If that's the way they're finally going to resolve the thing, and that's the way it is,
- 2:07:31then the call will stay at the 14-yard line, it will be second and five.
- 2:07:35Despite the fact that we're in close, just a slight window opener,
- 2:07:38you can hear the displeasure being vented by the Packers fans at County Stadium.
- 2:07:43The call will go back to the 14-yard line.
- 2:07:46On the near side comes Brooks, Curtis goes to the far side.
- 2:07:49The Packers of course will have to play a man-to-man down here.
- 2:07:51Brooks goes wide right, and the safety follows him.
- 2:07:53Anderson drifts off to the right, fires down to the ten, and out of bounds goes Brooks after catching it there.
- 2:07:58And then Brooks out on the right flat, took that pass, pained about four yards in the play,
- 2:08:01and will bring up a third and one.
- 2:08:03Let's pause 15 seconds for station identification.
- 2:08:05This is the Cincinnati Bengals football network.
- 2:08:09WMNI in Columbus, Ohio, the time is 4.32.
- 2:08:16Bill Samp and Jimmy Crom back at Milwaukee County Stadium,
- 2:08:18where Izzy Curtis goes out now, the Bengals go to two tight ends in the third and one situation down at the Packers end.
- 2:08:24Pete Johnson and Tony Davis are back in there, and both lines bunched tightly.
- 2:08:27And off goes Depeat, and he has the first down, but a flag is thrown.
- 2:08:32Thrown in the backfield, and let's go.
- 2:08:34It's going to be a holding call against the Bengals.
- 2:08:37They have the first down at the eight, and this one will be wiped out by the hole.
- 2:08:45That'll move the ball back to the 20-yard line, and now it'll become third and 11.
- 2:08:50Another costly penalty against the Bengals.
- 2:08:52Instead of having a first down and goal at the eight, they lined up with third and 11 back at the 20.
- 2:08:58See if we can catch the number.
- 2:09:03Number 36?
- 2:09:04Ooh, Len Villeglia.
- 2:09:05Yeah, it was Len Villeglia.
- 2:09:06I didn't think he was in there.
- 2:09:07He wasn't, he was right.
- 2:09:09Maybe he said 46.
- 2:09:12Len Villeglia was not in there.
- 2:09:14He's back in there now.
- 2:09:17So at the 20 now, it becomes third and 11.
- 2:09:19The Packers put their, I thought they were going with a couple of extra defensive backs.
- 2:09:24They might be, but they've got four men up front.
- 2:09:26Curtis goes to the far side, and Bill Brooks comes to their side.
- 2:09:29The Packers come across the line of scrimmage, and flags go down.
- 2:09:32Anderson drops back, fires it down into the end zone.
- 2:09:34Curtis can't hold it as he's going out of bounds down at about the one.
- 2:09:37Now that one will cost the Packers five yards.
- 2:09:39It'll put it back to the 15-yard line, and we'll go through it all again.
- 2:09:42It'll be third and about six.
- 2:09:49John Hanson is in at the middle linebacking spot for Jim Carter.
- 2:09:52Carter injured here just a play or so ago.
- 2:09:55Shinner is very, very gentlemanly, like, picks up the official flag and hands it back to him as he walks over.
- 2:10:02You know, John Shinner lives right up here in Hartford, just outside Milwaukee.
- 2:10:05His dad ordered 245 tickets to get for the game this afternoon.
- 2:10:11John, of course, is in the publishing business with his father up here.
- 2:10:14That's about the whole town of Hartford.
- 2:10:16Brooks goes to the far side now, and Curtis comes to their side.
- 2:10:19We're back at the 15, third and sixth. Four minutes left to play in this game.
- 2:10:22The double-wing formation is Lynn Galelli. It comes out to the left on the wing.
- 2:10:27Anderson goes back to throw, has the time.
- 2:10:29Brooks steps up, now is going to run, and he'll be dropped at the 19-yard line.
- 2:10:34Everybody covered downfield, nobody to throw it to.
- 2:10:37Anderson just put his hand down and got to the 19, and that will bring in Chris Barr for an apparent field goal attempt.
- 2:10:43Ball at the 19, it'll be about a 36-yard boot. It'll be Barr's first attempt at the afternoon.
- 2:10:51Another crucial holding penalty.
- 2:10:53Instead of a first and goal at the 8, the Bengals wind up now back at the 20.
- 2:10:59Penalty to the 15, and now we'll be forced to go for the field goal.
- 2:11:03The ball will be put down by Marvin Cobb at the 26. It'll be a 36-yard attempt by Barr, who is two out of four on the season.
- 2:11:15One for one between 20 and 29 yards, and one for two between 30 and 39.
- 2:11:23So the lines are down finally. We're getting set. The ball will be put on the grass.
- 2:11:27Down the kick is up in the air, and it is no good. It's wide to the right. So both Mark Hall and Barr,
- 2:11:33if this from 36 yards down, the score is based 14 to 7. That was a mighty, mighty big field goal.
- 2:11:39With the 3.37 left, of course, the touchdown would tie the game.
- 2:11:43Though the Packers will take over, they'll have the ball at their own 20-yard line.
- 2:11:51Dallas to side up the Cardinals. They're a 3-3 in the first period now.
- 2:11:54Houston still holding that 17-10 lead over the Steelers in the third quarter.
- 2:11:58San Diego 7, New Orleans nothing. That was a halftime score.
- 2:12:01Minnesota ahead of Detroit 14 to nothing. That was also a halftime score.
- 2:12:05Olsen beat Cleveland 26-10. So the Packers send out Bain and Odom.
- 2:12:10Bob Wyatt to the left. The backs in an eye. Unplay action. Dickie back to throw.
- 2:12:14Had to sidestep a rush. Now fires upfield. It was stopped by Bluehairs at the 30.
- 2:12:19He runs it back to the 25. Bulldogs his way down to the 20. It'll be down right there.
- 2:12:24Bluehairs reached up high, grabbed that ball off his fingertips,
- 2:12:28and a couple of other players start shoving around.
- 2:12:30And one bank will grab the Packer and throws him away.
- 2:12:33Then the Packer throws a punch at him, and so they start shoving around on the far side of the field.
- 2:12:37But Bluehairs, with a big interception after Dickie had to step out of the pocket because of a big rush,
- 2:12:42was knocked off balance when he ran into one of his own running backs.
- 2:12:45And then threw it straight up the right side, and Bluehairs picked it off at the 30.
- 2:12:48It kind of ran those last five yards like a halfback, just following along with a couple of Packers right down him.
- 2:12:53And the Bengals get their second interception of the afternoon.
- 2:12:56They both bend by linebackers. Jim McClare picked one off in the first half.
- 2:12:59And the Bengals have the ball right back knocking at the door at the Packer 20.
- 2:13:03Time remaining, 3.25. Bengals lead 14-7. Clark and Elliott are the running backs.
- 2:13:18Curtis tight right. Bill Brooks split to the left. Handoff into the line. Clark comes off to the right side, cuts in,
- 2:13:23gets inside the 15, and plunges on down to about the 12.
- 2:13:27Jim Carter, back in the lineup, had hold of him first of all, and Johnny Gray finally had to put him down.
- 2:13:31Because Booby Clark is now over 90 yards rushing this afternoon, as he gets himself about 8 there from the 20-yard line down to close to the 12.
- 2:13:41And I think for statistical purposes, although those markers out on the field are scratched off,
- 2:13:45there we can see the nose of the ball that is at the 12. So give Clark 8, and it will be second and 2.
- 2:13:50Time on the clock, 2.51 remaining. Wide receiver split to the right.
- 2:13:57And the one that's behind Anderson is Clark again, and Booby inside the 10 to the 9 as he tried it in the left side,
- 2:14:03running on the side with Rufus Mays, along with Glenn Buschnack, and they're going to put the ball right down at the 10-yard line.
- 2:14:10Although it looked from here as though he had made it to about the 9-yard line, and that may be close enough.
- 2:14:13They're going to, might have to have it now, they're putting it back outside the 10-yard line. How can that be?
- 2:14:21That doesn't make sense at all. Clark, with the ball nestled in his arms, was inside the 10 at the 9,
- 2:14:26and the ball is put about a foot outside the 10-yard line, so it will be third and 1.
- 2:14:31Well, it was actually third and about 8 inches.
- 2:14:35So Tony Davis and Pete Johnson are back in the backfield.
- 2:14:37The Bengals are letting the clock just run down to the 2-minute warning here, and we're one second away, and there we are.
- 2:14:42So there's a timeout on the field, with a score of Bengals 14, Packers 7.
- 2:14:47Discount this and discount that. Sales on this and sales on that.
- 2:14:51Wide trek all over town to save a few pennies here and there when you can shop one automotive store with savings on everything in the store.

- 2:15:42Once you shop Corvair's, you'll be back.
- 2:15:46Phil Samp and Jimmy Crumb back at Milwaukee County Stadium, where the Bengals will have a third and just inches to go down at the Packers 10-yard line.
- 2:15:54Baltimore has a 31-28 lead over Miami now in the third quarter.
- 2:15:59Although that game should be just about over, it's in the fourth quarter, but that's the latest score that we have.
- 2:16:04The Finals, Oakland beat Cleveland 26-10, New England blanks Seattle 31-0, Philadelphia beat the New York Giants 28-10.
- 2:16:12They have nothing on Kansas City or Denver. Okay, third and short yardage, Johnson and Tony Davis.
- 2:16:17The Bengals running backs down at the Packers 10.
- 2:16:19Hand off to Pete, and he's got the first down plunging in over the right side at that time behind Lapham, and Bernhardt got that ball down to about the 8 or 9, and the Bengals have the first down.
- 2:16:27And of course, running off time on the clock.
- 2:16:30And the Packers are between the Devils and the Deep Blue Sea right now, because if they call time out, they'll be wasting them when they get the ball back on offense, should the Bengals score, if they get the ball back.
- 2:16:41And if they don't call the time out, the Bengals will take plenty of time all the time they need, because they have the 14-7 lead, and a minute 54 left, and somebody has called time out right now.
- 2:16:50That may have been Green Bay, certainly the Bengals would not. It'll be Bengals first and goal at the 9.
- 2:17:00Clock to stop with 1.54 remaining to be played.
- 2:17:06Week from tomorrow night, the Bengals play the Steelers over at Three Rivers Stadium, and two weeks from this afternoon, we'll be back at Riverfront for the first time in four weeks to take on the Denver Broncos.
- 2:17:15Right now, in the third quarter, Houston has a 17-10 lead over the Pittsburgh Steelers, and that game is a little behind time, too.
- 2:17:23The New York Jets beat Buffalo. We can't see the final. It looks like 24-19.
- 2:17:28So Clark and Elliott back in the running backs positions, and the Bengals come out with a slot right. Curtis Wyden, Billy Brooks in the slot.
- 2:17:36On count, the handoff goes to Elliott around the right side, gets away from the tackler, slips. We'll get back to just the line of scrimmage, and that's all.
- 2:17:42He got away from Dave Roller behind the line of scrimmage, but then slipped in the process, and just about got back to the line of scrimmage at the 9- or 10-yard line.
- 2:17:50May have lost a yard in the play, and again, I believe the Packers are going to call a time out, stopping the clock with a minute and 42 seconds remaining.
- 2:17:57Bengals had a chance to put it away, but Chris Fier missed a 36-yard field goal. If the Bengals don't score, you'll have another opportunity right here to put it away, put it beyond the point where the Packers could reach it.
- 2:18:09It's 14-7 right now.
- 2:18:12It brought you up to date on all the other scores. There haven't been any changes. The Bengals will have a second and goal at the 10.
- 2:18:18As I mentioned, the Bengals' playing is due back in Cincinnati about 7-30 tonight. Kenny Anderson over in the sidelines, talking with the offensive coaches over there.
- 2:18:26A few of the people have left Milwaukee County Stadium, but not very many.
- 2:18:31A crowd of around 53,000 on hand this afternoon, but notice the ball is right at the 10, where it will be second and goal.
- 2:18:42The Packers again have called a time out.
- 2:18:49Coming into the games this afternoon, the other three teams in the division, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Houston, were 2-1, and the Bengals were 1-2.
- 2:19:00So back to action. Up to the line of scrimmage, the Bengals were the second and goal. Clark and Elliott are the running backs. One wide receiver off to the right.
- 2:19:07Handoff into the right side. Clark down to the 5, and the flag is thrown as he gets to the 3-yard line, and I believe that the Bengals are going to be called for holding, and I think maybe it will be John Shinners.
- 2:19:19So the penalties have been absolutely brutal coming at the wrong time this afternoon.
- 2:19:27And Booby Clark had made it all the way down to the 4-yard line, and would have just about hit the 100-yard mark in rushing if that play had not been nullified by the holding penalty.
- 2:19:37I don't know that it was against Shinners, but he was on the ground and very disgusted when the call was made.
- 2:19:44That's the eighth penalty against the Cincinnati Bengals. That takes it back to the 20-yard line. It will be second and goal.
- 2:19:51It runs some time off the clock, which is stopped with a minute and 38 seconds left to play.
- 2:19:57Clark on that play made about 6 yards, and that would have put him over the 100-yard mark for rushing, but it was wiped out by the hold.
- 2:20:04And now Curtis goes to the right, and Brooks comes to the left. Clark and Elliott with a wide split behind Anderson.
- 2:20:09Bengals with a second and goal. Anderson goes back to throw. Swings it out to the right. It's caught by Elliott.
- 2:20:14He's down. He gets away at the 15, goes down to the 10, and gets all the way down to the 8 before Ezra Johnson can hit him from behind.
- 2:20:21He broke a tackle at about the 15. One man had him around the legs, and he got the ball all the way back down to about the 7-yard line or 8-yard line.
- 2:20:28And now flags go up in the air again. Belatedly, they're just thrown now. Let's see what this one's going to be.
- 2:20:43They're consulting with the Green Bay Packers, and the Bengals are backing up.
- 2:20:52They're still talking about it. It's going to be walked off against the Bengals for the minute 21. This one will take it back to the 22-yard line.
- 2:20:58Rufus Mays may have been called for a personal foul on that one. I don't know what.
- 2:21:06It is against Rufus Mays, but it's unsportsmanlike conduct. So a penalty wipes out another one. That's the Bengals' ninth penalty this afternoon.
- 2:21:12And that continues to be just a real bugaboo. It's not only the number, but it's when they occur that have been killing the Bengals' offense.
- 2:21:23Well, it'll remain second down, and we've been stuck on second down now for a long time, or third down.
- 2:21:33And the down hit elapsed, and the call is against them after the whistle had blown. So it's third down, and the Bengals are back at their own 22.
- 2:21:43Anderson with a handoff, folding down to the 15-yard line, down to the 13-yard line goes Lenville Elliott.
- 2:21:49That'll make the field goal situation just that much shorter, and in comes Chris Barr.
- 2:21:53Clock down to a minute 10. The Packers, I believe, have just one timeout remaining, and now they have called it to stop the clock with a minute and nine seconds remaining.
- 2:21:59Three timeouts have been called. The last two have been charged against the Packers. I'm not sure about the first one.
- 2:22:05So the ball is at the 14-yard line. It means Barr will try it from about 31 yards out.
- 2:22:09The Packers call a timeout to give them a little time to think about it. The ball will be put down in the dirt.
- 2:22:14Barr, just a short time ago, missed from 36 yards out.
- 2:22:27So the Bengals have been penalized nine times this afternoon, and they've just wiped out a first and goal situation down at the 8-yard line,
- 2:22:36and the Bengals have been able to get the ball back as far as just about the length of the football inside the 15, where this field goal attempt will come from.
- 2:22:44The Bengals lead it 14-7 in a minute and nine seconds, the time remaining on the clock, and the Bengals could put the game away right here if Barr is successful on his field goal.
- 2:22:53He has made two out of five in the year now.
- 2:22:58So the official signal is now that we're ready to go. It's going to be from 32 yards out. Marvin Cobb will put it down at the 22.
- 2:23:10Crowd streaming. There's the snap back. The kick is up in the air. It's away, and this one is good.
- 2:23:16So Chris Barr hits from 32 yards out, and that gives the Bengals a 10-point lead now with a minute and five seconds left to go.
- 2:23:22Chris Barr with a 32-yard field goal ups the count to 17-10.
- 2:23:28And this is just about the type of scoring game that the Packers and the Vikings and the Lions and Bears generally play in the central division.
- 2:23:36They don't generate a lot of offense, but they have pretty good defenses.
- 2:23:40So with a minute and five seconds left now, the Bengals will kick off, holding a 17-7 lead.
- 2:23:48Steve Odom will be the deep man when the Packers finally get things talked over and decide who they're going to put where as they're still huddled up and talking as Barr goes back into the shade at the 35-yard line to put the ball down.
- 2:24:01Let's see if he'll boot it.
- 2:24:03Now they're going back to Andre Thompson is going back to be the deep man this time, number 43, and he's flanked by a couple of men at about the 20-yard line.
- 2:24:16So Barr advances on the ball and there's the kick. It's a knuckler that will be lined to Thompson at the 5.
- 2:24:21Up to the 10, to the 15, to the 20. Straight up the field at the 25-30, 31-yard line he's hit and knocked down.
- 2:24:28Scott Ferry got up there to put the stop on him. Barr just lined that kickoff, so Thompson had a little room to run it back before he ran into anybody.
- 2:24:36The Packers now at their own 32. 59 seconds, the time showing on the clock.
- 2:24:42And I don't believe that the Packers have any timeouts remaining.
- 2:24:48Bengals in front, 17-7. Miami and Baltimore having a real scoring duel in the second half, 31-28, Baltimore.
- 2:24:56They have a slot formation to the right, double wing only one back. Dickey goes back to throw, fires over the head of everybody and out of bounds up near the 45.
- 2:25:05Payne was the man, whom the pass was close to. Parish and Harris were both over there.
- 2:25:09And Bow would shut them off in the front, so Dickey just threw it away. Stops the clock with 55 seconds left. Now it becomes second and 10 at the Packers' 32.
- 2:25:19The Bengals going with a 3-4. They've got Glen Cameron in there.
- 2:25:23So we've got the four linebackers, Burley and Bakener at the end. Eddie Edwards is the nose man right over center and Glen Cameron has become the fourth linebacker.
- 2:25:31Jim LeClair will always line up on the strong side. He comes over this time to the left of the Packers' right.
- 2:25:36A wide receiver on the left side and Dickey again goes straight back to throw.
- 2:25:41Looks, Koi Bacon gets an arm around and now he throws upfield.
- 2:25:44He's caught by Vataha and he's going to be chased down and slammed down right at the 35-yard line by Jim LeClair.
- 2:25:50LeClair picked up Randy Vataha, spun him around, banged him down. Now he goes over and pats him on the back, but at the 35 it's a gain of three.
- 2:25:58And the Packers now will have a third and seven.
- 2:26:00Koi Bacon got a hold of Dickey's shoulder and spun him around a little bit, but Dickey managed to escape from that grasp and then hit Vataha to the right.
- 2:26:10So it stops the clock with 46 seconds, the time remaining.
- 2:26:20Dickey drifting off to his left, back to throw. Looks, fires upfield. Incomplete and almost intercepted by Riley up at midfield.
- 2:26:26The ball went through his hands as the receiver, Ken Payne, was overthrown. And that will bring up a fourth down and the Packers have seven yards to go.
- 2:26:32And of course they won't boot the ball. It doesn't do any good at this stage of the game. They'll go for it. They trail 17-7.
- 2:26:48The Packers huddle up. They have the ball at their own 35. That incomplete pass stopped the clock with 41 seconds left.
- 2:26:56Payne goes out to the left with Vataha on the slot. They have three wide receivers. Odom comes to the right.
- 2:27:00Barty Smith is the only running back. And back to throw goes Dickey. Fires up the middle. McGeorge has it and Leclerc knocks him down.
- 2:27:06He may have the first down out at about the 42. Mitch McGeorge came out of the backfield, caught that pass over the middle, does have the first down out at the 43.
- 2:27:17Now the Packers with no huddle of course and the clock is down to 20 seconds remaining. Again only Barty Smith and behind Dickey.
- 2:27:24Dickey goes back to throw. Cox's arm fires upfield incomplete at about the 45, a little short pass right over the middle to Barty Smith coming back.
- 2:27:33And that stops the clock now with 12 seconds left. They have no further score on the San Diego-New Orleans game or the Minnesota-Detroit game, although they're well into the second half.
- 2:27:42But the scores have not changed. Back to Baltimore-Miami game up on the board is far behind where it actually is. And still Houston 17, Pittsburgh 10.
- 2:27:50The only thing that we have showing on that game in the third quarter. That game is almost over.
- 2:27:59Three wide receivers, two come to the right, one to the left. Packers with the first down at their own 43 and back to throw is Dickey.
- 2:28:05Cox's arm once now looking, fires upfield, is caught by Payne at the 40, retreats to the 45, trying to get out of bounds but won't. He'll be spun down a midfield.
- 2:28:13The clock keeps running and that's it. The ball game is over and the Bengals have defeated the Packers by a score of 17 to 7.
