- 4:14Speaker 3: Day, might not be immediately this week.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Something else is super duper fun. As we did our
- 4:19Speaker 2: pumpkin head photo shoot.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Ye, that was epic. It was super cool, and we're
- 4:25Speaker 3: going to be putting some some of those photos up
- 4:27Speaker 3: on Instagram and Facebook to come in the next few
- 4:29Speaker 3: days as well, So watch out for that shit.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Yeah, we have so much cool stuff going on. I'm
- 4:34Speaker 2: really pumped.
- 4:35Speaker 3: It's going to be epic. Yes, speaking of epic, what
- 4:38Speaker 3: are we doing? I get to talk about an epic case,
- 4:41Speaker 3: not even a case, but a story that I said
- 4:44Speaker 3: that I was going to be doing for like a
- 4:46Speaker 3: month now and since the creation of Wicked and Graham,
- 4:49Speaker 3: I wanted to talk about this. This is Robert the Doll.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you've mentioned this so many times.
- 4:55Speaker 3: Robert the Doll is who. It's a crazy story. There's
- 5:00Speaker 3: there's not like there's anything one big thing about it.
- 5:04Speaker 3: It's just like a lot of like holy shit, little things.
- 5:06Speaker 2: So what a good way to kick it off?
- 5:09Speaker 3: Yes?
- 5:09Speaker 2: I like it?
- 5:10Speaker 3: So if you are ready, let's dive in.
- 5:12Speaker 2: I'm freaking ready to Robert the Doll.
- 5:15Speaker 3: All right. So Robert the Doll is literally world renown,
- 5:19Speaker 3: just so you know, he is known as the world's
- 5:23Speaker 3: most haunted doll.
- 5:26Speaker 2: That's quite the title, right, wow.
- 5:29Speaker 3: Like good luck, good luck that no shit?
- 5:34Speaker 2: Okay.
- 5:34Speaker 3: So he's like he's like this childlike figure. He stands
- 5:37Speaker 3: about forty inches tall, and he's dressed in like an
- 5:39Speaker 3: old timey sailor's outfit, like you know, the ones with
- 5:42Speaker 3: like a little like it's all white and the little
- 5:44Speaker 3: sailor hat, like little blue lines and everything. Yeah, totally
- 5:47Speaker 3: wearing that the sailor's outfit, which was totally not supplied
- 5:52Speaker 3: by the company that made him. Actually it was probably
- 5:55Speaker 3: an outfit that was actually worn by his child's owner.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Oh, by his child owners. There we go.
- 6:02Speaker 3: So, yeah, he's actually he's stuffed with wool and wood chips,
- 6:07Speaker 3: and his eyes are small, beady and black, and they
- 6:10Speaker 3: stare blankly into the direction of whichever way he ends
- 6:15Speaker 3: up happened to be facing.
- 6:15Speaker 2: That's creepy. I don't know why, just how you said
- 6:17Speaker 2: that kind of grewped me out.
- 6:19Speaker 3: Well, I mean, he's fucking creepy. So in his hands
- 6:24Speaker 3: is a small toy of his own, a toy dog
- 6:27Speaker 3: that seems really happy to be in his owner's lap,
- 6:31Speaker 3: with its oversized tongue hanging out.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Aw.
- 6:34Speaker 3: Robert's face is covered with nicks and scars that show
- 6:37Speaker 3: the age of the fabric skin on his face, and
- 6:40Speaker 3: the time that Robert has seen gaining all these scars
- 6:45Speaker 3: has been one hundred and seventeen years.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Ooh the things he has seen.
- 6:51Speaker 3: Robert is one hundred and seventeen years old.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Wow. Yes, that's actually a pretty long life for it,
- 6:56Speaker 2: all right, Like really, yes, So.
- 6:59Speaker 3: We're going all the way back to nineteen o six here, Okay,
- 7:04Speaker 3: So Robert was the property of a young boy by
- 7:06Speaker 3: the name of Robert Eugene Auto, an eccentric artist later
- 7:10Speaker 3: in his life and a member of a prominent Key
- 7:14Speaker 3: West family. So yes, Robert, the doll and his owner
- 7:18Speaker 3: shared the name Robert. However, the young boy whose name
- 7:22Speaker 3: was Robert, he decided to give his name to his
- 7:26Speaker 3: new found friend and decided he would go by his
- 7:30Speaker 3: middle name instead, Eugene, So he began to go by
- 7:34Speaker 3: the name Gene. Wow. His doll took his first name
- 7:38Speaker 3: and became Robert. Interesting that in its own is kind
- 7:43Speaker 3: of fucking creepy.
- 7:45Speaker 2: So how old was this kid?
- 7:47Speaker 3: I don't know how old he was when he got Robert,
- 7:53Speaker 3: but he would have been fairly.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Young, because it's interesting that he would just change his
- 7:58Speaker 2: name like that, Yes, as a kid, Yes, okay, because
- 8:01Speaker 2: I find that very interesting.
- 8:02Speaker 3: I find it really fucking weird. Yeah, creepy, like super
- 8:05Speaker 3: creepy to me. That's one of the creepiest things about
- 8:09Speaker 3: this case, as if best child willingly gave up his
- 8:13Speaker 3: first name for his doll for his doll and went
- 8:16Speaker 3: by his middle name instead.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Pretty creepy, Pretty creepy.
- 8:20Speaker 3: So Robert was purchased by Jean's grandfather while he was
- 8:24Speaker 3: on a trip to Germany in nineteen oh four, and
- 8:27Speaker 3: he was given to young Jean as a birthday gift.
- 8:30Speaker 3: The doll was reportedly manufactured by the Stef Company of Germany.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Now we're going to go back into a little bit
- 8:36Speaker 3: of history here. The Stef Company is a German based
- 8:39Speaker 3: plush toy company which was founded in eighteen eighty by
- 8:43Speaker 3: Marguerite step a steamstress. And then hold on what I
- 8:49Speaker 3: have here. That sentence doesn't make sense, Okay, the seamstress.
- 8:54Speaker 3: There we go, that's what I just said. The seamstress
- 8:56Speaker 3: and her newfound company became the oldest and most famous
- 8:59Speaker 3: Teddy Bear soft toy manufacturer in the fucking world.
- 9:04Speaker 2: Interesting, Just an fy i there, that's cool.
- 9:08Speaker 3: When Marguerite step was just eighteen months old, she contracted
- 9:11Speaker 3: polio and would spend the rest of her life in
- 9:14Speaker 3: a wheelchair, you know, sewing and clearly building toys.
- 9:19Speaker 2: But that's that's really cool though, that she still like
- 9:23Speaker 2: went and built this like empire, right.
- 9:26Speaker 3: And I'm sure there's a whole quack load of stuff
- 9:29Speaker 3: on her story, but that's a whole other story. So
- 9:33Speaker 3: Robert was most likely never intended to be sold as
- 9:36Speaker 3: a toy at all. In fact, according to a Stiff historian,
- 9:41Speaker 3: they told a museum that now holds Robert that he
- 9:44Speaker 3: was probably part of a set fabricated for window displays
- 9:49Speaker 3: for like clowns or gestures, which is perfect because Robert
- 9:55Speaker 3: has a personality that is something quite similar and all
- 10:00Speaker 3: on its own.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Huh. Give me the shivers.
- 10:05Speaker 3: Yeah, this whole fucking case gives me the shivers. Like
- 10:07Speaker 3: I say, there's nothing like grandiose about it, but it's
- 10:10Speaker 3: just all this little fucking shit.
- 10:12Speaker 2: That adds up.
- 10:13Speaker 3: Yes. Yeah, So Gene always treated Robert special, in fact,
- 10:18Speaker 3: so much so that Gen Robert wasn't a doll to Gene.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Gene always talked about Robert as if you were a person,
- 10:26Speaker 3: as if you were alive. The story goes that Gene
- 10:29Speaker 3: would frequently blame things and mishaps on Robert quote unquote,
- 10:33Speaker 3: Robert did it. It's Robert's fault. Huh. He would say
- 10:40Speaker 3: all this to the adults, and they would just kind
- 10:42Speaker 3: of laugh and brush it off as if it were
- 10:44Speaker 3: just child's play.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Oh my goodness. Okay, that's so interesting. Yeah, okay, I'm
- 10:53Speaker 2: just really thinking that through. And okay, I mean, okay,
- 10:57Speaker 2: it's a kid. I can kind of see it. I
- 10:59Speaker 2: can kind of see it. That's not terrible. You can
- 11:02Speaker 2: keep going.
- 11:03Speaker 3: It's not terrible. But again, once you add up.
- 11:05Speaker 2: All those little things, it's just like another tick. That's
- 11:07Speaker 2: a little odd. Yeah.
- 11:09Speaker 3: So Jane eventually went on to become a prominent artist
- 11:12Speaker 3: in his adult years. As I said earlier, he often
- 11:15Speaker 3: escaped to the turret suite in his house, where the
- 11:18Speaker 3: light was much better for painting. Okay, Ever, present was
- 11:22Speaker 3: his doll and best friend, Robert. Robert spent his days
- 11:26Speaker 3: propped up against the southwest window in the turret suite
- 11:30Speaker 3: while Jane painted.
- 11:32Speaker 2: And sorry, is he still a child or not?
- 11:33Speaker 3: No, he's an adult now.
- 11:34Speaker 2: He's an Okay, I thought you said he was an adult,
- 11:37Speaker 2: but no, he's.
- 11:38Speaker 3: All grown up. But Robert's still by his side. Another
- 11:42Speaker 3: little tape.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Yeah, oh my gosh. Okay, it's not super weird because, like,
- 11:45Speaker 2: I still have toys from when I was a kid,
- 11:47Speaker 2: but they're literally tucked away in like a keepsake bin.
- 11:50Speaker 2: I don't have them.
- 11:52Speaker 3: There's nothing weird of an adult having a toy or
- 11:54Speaker 3: a keepsake. I've got some action figures, I've got some
- 11:57Speaker 3: collectibles and stuff.
- 11:58Speaker 2: I guess at that age to keep carrying it around
- 12:01Speaker 2: with you.
- 12:02Speaker 3: Maybe I don't know, even to each their own. But
- 12:05Speaker 3: it's just on its own, it's not weird, but maybe
- 12:08Speaker 3: compiled with all these other little things, it's kind of
- 12:12Speaker 3: fucking weird. Yeah, it's just odd. It's creepy. I went
- 12:15Speaker 3: compiled with everything.
- 12:16Speaker 2: If they were dating, I'm not sure if the person
- 12:18Speaker 2: they were dating would think that's super cool. Well, he
- 12:20Speaker 2: was married, oh, and still had this little doll yes, Okay.
- 12:26Speaker 2: So if I had this little doll and you were
- 12:28Speaker 2: like wanting to marry me or like inter would you
- 12:30Speaker 2: not think that was a bit odd If I was like, okay,
- 12:32Speaker 2: like I have to bring this, Yes, I feel like
- 12:34Speaker 2: I even did that.
- 12:35Speaker 3: Maybe probably, I don't know. Anyways, Jane actually designed the
- 12:42Speaker 3: gallery at forest Fort East Martello Museum and had plans
- 12:46Speaker 3: to make it his own home museum through what never
- 12:49Speaker 3: did happen, though, his home went on to become known
- 12:54Speaker 3: as the Artist's House, and stories of the doll's strange
- 12:57Speaker 3: behavior became popular and spread. Of the strange events surrounding Robert, So,
- 13:04Speaker 3: stories do go that school children would be walking by
- 13:07Speaker 3: as Robert was up painting and the turret suite and
- 13:11Speaker 3: sorry Gene was painting, and er Robert was in the
- 13:16Speaker 3: window was painting, and as they walk by, they were
- 13:20Speaker 3: report seeing Robert move from one side of the window
- 13:23Speaker 3: to the other.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Okay.
- 13:26Speaker 3: Other visitors to the house would describe how Robert's face
- 13:31Speaker 3: and his expression would change according to the conversation in
- 13:35Speaker 3: the room.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Okay.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Reports of Robert have been said to have moved from
- 13:40Speaker 3: one side of the room to another when people's backs
- 13:44Speaker 3: were turned.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Oh, gosh, that's some creepy ship.
- 13:47Speaker 3: And the sound of giggling in the room have been
- 13:49Speaker 3: made year after year when Robert is present. You good, Yeah,
- 13:57Speaker 3: I'm good.
- 13:58Speaker 2: It's like toy story ish, but like not not as fun,
- 14:01Speaker 2: not near as fun.
- 14:04Speaker 3: So after Jean's death in nineteen seventy four, a woman
- 14:08Speaker 3: by the name of Myrtle Ruder. I really hope I
- 14:10Speaker 3: said that, right, really hope. Wake it a gram. We
- 14:13Speaker 3: fucked it up all the time. What am I gonna do?
- 14:16Speaker 2: He would just own it nineteen seventy four. Would he
- 14:19Speaker 2: have been like older? Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, because he
- 14:23Speaker 2: was born like the early nineteen hundreds.
- 14:25Speaker 3: Yes, okay, I'm assuming he probably would have been around
- 14:28Speaker 3: the age of like four or five or six when
- 14:29Speaker 3: he got Robert. He got Robert somewhere in the vicinity
- 14:31Speaker 3: of like nineteen oh five.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, okay.
- 14:36Speaker 3: So in the death of Jane in nineteen seventy four,
- 14:39Speaker 3: a woman by the name of Myrtle Ruder purchased There
- 14:41Speaker 3: we Go, purchased Eugene's home, and she became Robert's new
- 14:44Speaker 3: companion as she inherited Robert with the home.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Oh lord, that is not something she would have probably wanted.
- 14:50Speaker 3: Well, she ended up keeping him as she moved out
- 14:52Speaker 3: of that house into on Fister Street six years later. Okay,
- 14:57Speaker 3: and she kept him in fact into nineteen nineties. In
- 15:00Speaker 3: nineteen ninety four, she ended up donating Robert to the
- 15:03Speaker 3: Fort East Martello Museum, claiming quote unquote that he moved
- 15:09Speaker 3: around her house on his own and was haunted.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, that's so creepy.
- 15:16Speaker 3: To point, just to put this into perspective. Robert though, too,
- 15:19Speaker 3: He's not a small doll forty inches tall, like he's
- 15:24Speaker 3: child he's child size.
- 15:26Speaker 2: Yeah that's pretty tall.
- 15:28Speaker 3: Well I don't know sick child size, but he's like
- 15:31Speaker 3: prety inches.
- 15:31Speaker 2: Are you kidding me? Because a ruler is like twelve
- 15:34Speaker 2: inches right? Yeah, holy shit, that's a huge doll.
- 15:39Speaker 3: Yeah, Robert, Robert's large.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Oh my gosh. That makes it even more creepy.
- 15:46Speaker 3: So after though Myrtle donated Robert to the museum, she
- 15:51Speaker 3: ended up dying only a few months later. Whether that's
- 15:55Speaker 3: part of this, I don't know. It could just be coincidence,
- 15:57Speaker 3: but that's what happened.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Oh gosh, like she's cursed or maybe the.
- 16:03Speaker 3: Museum staff at Robert's new home quickly noticed a shift
- 16:06Speaker 3: in quote unquote energies at the Fort East Martella Museum.
- 16:10Speaker 3: Robert wasn't initially on display there, but even still, word
- 16:14Speaker 3: began to spread about him, and he started receiving visitors
- 16:17Speaker 3: to his new residence. Once he was put on an exhibit,
- 16:21Speaker 3: electronics and cameras began to act strange would malfunction in
- 16:25Speaker 3: his presence. Oh and soon to follow, letters began arriving
- 16:30Speaker 3: addressed directly to Robert, offering apologies for disrespectful behavior and
- 16:35Speaker 3: asking for forgiveness.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Huh oh goodness, okay visitors from visitors, yes, wow, so
- 16:46Speaker 2: they're thinking that they got cursed from seeing him or something.
- 16:49Speaker 3: Pretty much, Robert's lore kept growing and growing. He's been
- 16:54Speaker 3: visited by ghost hunters, mediums, and he's inspired TV shows
- 16:58Speaker 3: and movies, and he was even the inspiration behind the
- 17:00Speaker 3: infamous Chucky doll in the Child's Play movies and series.
- 17:06Speaker 3: So Chucky is literally based off Robert the doll.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Okay, that's really cool. So through the.
- 17:11Speaker 3: Years, visitors come to see Robert and have experience a
- 17:13Speaker 3: variety of things, most of which have been misfortune, bad luck,
- 17:17Speaker 3: you know, after leaving, in particular, after taking pictures of
- 17:20Speaker 3: Robert without asking permission, because you see, Robert doesn't like
- 17:25Speaker 3: his photo taken without permission.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Well, how the hell do you get permission?
- 17:29Speaker 3: You ask him permission?
- 17:30Speaker 2: But then how do you know he says yes, You
- 17:33Speaker 2: just assume, I guess. So what if you asked but
- 17:36Speaker 2: he said no and then he took it?
- 17:38Speaker 3: Well, you're you're gonna get some fucking bad luck.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Okay, I don't even think. I don't want to risk that.
- 17:44Speaker 3: I want to go see him, and I want to risk.
- 17:46Speaker 2: It taking his picture. Yes, Oh gosh, there such daredevil.
- 17:52Speaker 3: So there's been like thousands of letters come into Robert.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Many of the letters that have flooded in asking forgiveness
- 18:00Speaker 3: are from these visitors that have just done that, taking
- 18:02Speaker 3: photos without permission. They believe that the bad luck is
- 18:06Speaker 3: from some sort of hex somehow from Robert, and forgiveness
- 18:11Speaker 3: is the only way to reverse it.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Interesting.
- 18:15Speaker 3: Every year, the curator of the museum removes Robert from
- 18:17Speaker 3: his glass case as he sits in the museum to
- 18:21Speaker 3: assess his condition and keep them in tiptop shape. It's
- 18:24Speaker 3: reported that Robert isn't the only spirit inhabiting the Key
- 18:27Speaker 3: West Museum, though in total It's reported there are over
- 18:31Speaker 3: forty spirits that dwell there, from soldiers to slaves and
- 18:36Speaker 3: yellow fever victims. Between them all, the museum reports large
- 18:40Speaker 3: amounts of paranormal activity moving furniture for example, and of course,
- 18:45Speaker 3: Robert the Doll's trademark giggling.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Okay, this museum sounds like crazy.
- 18:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I want to fucking go there. Robert the Doll's
- 18:56Speaker 3: bucket listening for me?
- 18:57Speaker 2: Is it? Okay? So sorry? I should not?

- 19:07Speaker 2: Okay, well, I mean we were closer when we were
- 19:11Speaker 2: in Florida than we are now.
- 19:12Speaker 3: Yes, okay.

- 19:21Speaker 2: Think you gotta freaking go back and ask for forgiveness
- 19:24Speaker 2: in person. And you think not be a letter?
- 19:27Speaker 3: What one thing that is really cool? Though they don't
- 19:29Speaker 3: have them all on display, they do have all of
- 19:31Speaker 3: them that they have received, but they do have many
- 19:34Speaker 3: of the many letters displayed in the museum surrounding Robert.
- 19:37Speaker 3: So even if you just google a picture of Robert
- 19:39Speaker 3: the Doll. You will find him sitting there on his
- 19:42Speaker 3: little pedestal in his glass case, surrounded by letters.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Wow.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Okay, that's really really, really really wild.
- 19:51Speaker 3: Yeah, that is a story of Robert the Doll.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Oh. I mean, I guess if you're like, they're on vacation,
- 19:57Speaker 2: it's not easy to get back there, so you're think
- 20:00Speaker 2: and no letters. Okay, but go in person.
- 20:02Speaker 3: There is one more thing. Actually, do you want to
- 20:03Speaker 3: add there is a photograph out there. I didn't research it,
- 20:07Speaker 3: I didn't look into it. Feel free to if you
- 20:09Speaker 3: guys want to on your own, let us know what
- 20:11Speaker 3: you find. But Robert's aura has actually been photographed. Oh wow,
- 20:16Speaker 3: there is a photograph of Robert with an aura surrounding him.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Holy.
- 20:20Speaker 3: I don't know who or how or what, but that
- 20:23Speaker 3: is a thing.
