- 0:02Speaker 1: Some of the content of Patriots Unfiltered may not be
- 0:05Speaker 1: suitable for all audiences.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Listener discretion is advised. The World's a Pigeon podcast. Welcome
- 0:16Speaker 2: to Patriots Unfiltered. I'm looking for outdoor cushions that are
- 0:23Speaker 2: completely water pool. That's I need Bob hook me up.
- 0:27Speaker 2: So I need ten cushions. Do you have a that's
- 0:29Speaker 2: over one thousand dollars in cushions? Do you have a
- 0:32Speaker 2: cover to take the cover on and off? I was
- 0:36Speaker 2: just wanting to cover on your furniture every night. It's
- 0:38Speaker 2: like a ritual. Does TJ play a bugle while you're
- 0:41Speaker 2: doing it?
- 0:41Speaker 3: It takes like literally thirty seconds. Probably in the acres,
- 0:45Speaker 3: you probably have to take the golf cart out to
- 0:46Speaker 3: the furniture.
- 0:47Speaker 2: I have a cover for everything. I have a cover
- 0:49Speaker 2: for the table, but I'm not doing that.
- 0:51Speaker 4: About a cushion box, just take box for your cushions
- 0:54Speaker 4: to store your cushion bar and then they stay too.
- 0:57Speaker 2: I said, it's ten cushions, Yeah, it's a lot of
- 0:59Speaker 2: cushions cushing.
- 1:01Speaker 5: This is Patriot's Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website. For deals,
- 1:05Speaker 5: buy a Toyota dot com.
- 1:09Speaker 2: All right, Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. This is Fred Kersh
- 1:14Speaker 2: Mike do so Bowman, what are we doing? Like? This is?
- 1:18Speaker 2: This is weird? I don't know. For some reason, I
- 1:21Speaker 2: felt a little different. But it is Tuesday and we're
- 1:24Speaker 2: here at Chilett Stadium with our first edition of Patriots
- 1:28Speaker 2: Unfiltered from our new studio. I'll give you a little
- 1:31Speaker 2: heads up. It's not one hundred complete. This is just
- 1:34Speaker 2: temporary furniture. Uh, new furnitures coming in at the end
- 1:37Speaker 2: of the week. But you get a little sense of
- 1:40Speaker 2: of what you're going to be seeing from now on
- 1:43Speaker 2: with Patriots Unfiltered. A little bit more of a relaxed look,
- 1:46Speaker 2: I think. So you know that includes Matisse, you know, relaxed.
- 1:50Speaker 4: You can see our ears now.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Yeah, we don't need headphones anymore.
- 1:54Speaker 6: Reminds me of Bar Rescue when they do the big
- 1:56Speaker 6: reveal at the end.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Yeah, well, we still have some things to do with
- 2:00Speaker 2: the monitors in the background and and so on and
- 2:03Speaker 2: so forth. But you're you're you're getting to understand a
- 2:06Speaker 2: little bit of what what this is going to look like.
- 2:08Speaker 4: Yeah, a little bit of a different five though. It's
- 2:10Speaker 4: I was saying before, I'm trying to imagine Paul getting
- 2:13Speaker 4: mad in a couch. I just can't see it. I
- 2:14Speaker 4: need him to bang a table, so may.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Maybe we'll just give him a piece of plywood, like
- 2:19Speaker 2: he could just be uncomfortable angry. Yeah, it's just the
- 2:23Speaker 2: three of us because it is the dog days of
- 2:25Speaker 2: the NFL and a lot of people are out today.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Paul's out, Alex is out, Tamara's out, Evan's.
- 2:32Speaker 4: Out, Evan's out, Evan's uh, you have, Paul's down in
- 2:35Speaker 4: the Bahamas. So I saw some pictures. Looks like he's
- 2:37Speaker 4: having a great time, and yeah, I watching Bryce Baron
- 2:41Speaker 4: sweating or you know what off out there crazy, Like,
- 2:44Speaker 4: oh my god, walking a golf course today. Yeah, it
- 2:46Speaker 4: would be pretty miserable, but uh but yeah, we'll get
- 2:48Speaker 4: through it. I've been watching some some tennis.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Fred I was. I.
- 2:51Speaker 4: I watched Cocoa Golf this weekend. I was thinking of you,
- 2:53Speaker 4: because full of herself she did, and I was I
- 2:55Speaker 4: was thinking, I'm like, well, this is great because I
- 2:56Speaker 4: thought it might be only you and I on the show.
- 2:58Speaker 4: So I'm like, all right, I know friend's watching ten
- 3:00Speaker 4: right now. So but I couldn't believe her upset with
- 3:02Speaker 4: the coach and like doing that. And I know she
- 3:04Speaker 4: took not to like kick it right off going into
- 3:06Speaker 4: cocoa cough, but I couldn't. I and I've seen I've
- 3:08Speaker 4: been doing so much youth sports lately of kids who
- 3:11Speaker 4: can't handle any kind of adversity. And it was like,
- 3:13Speaker 4: all of a sudden, She's like, tell me what to do,
- 3:15Speaker 4: tell me what to do.
- 3:16Speaker 2: It was a combination pride and panic. Yeah that hit her. Yeah,
- 3:20Speaker 2: but anyway, we're.
- 3:20Speaker 4: Not gonna stoneface.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Maybe later, but we'll get into Patriots. What do we
- 3:28Speaker 2: want to get into. I mean it's it's pretty quiet.
- 3:30Speaker 4: Yeah, I got it. Well, I have one little girl,
- 3:33Speaker 4: go ahead, kick things off. Just I saw Andy wrote
- 3:35Speaker 4: something today. You know, you look at the clips and
- 3:36Speaker 4: it's like twenty five articles about Bryce Behinger's performance yesterday
- 3:40Speaker 4: the golf tournament. But then Andy decided, I guess to
- 3:42Speaker 4: throw cold water on anyone who was HIPing off the
- 3:45Speaker 4: Patriots defense today. So just you know, interesting take. I'm like, oh,
- 3:48Speaker 4: who wrote this for WI? Of course it was Andy,
- 3:51Speaker 4: but I thought it was you know, I think he
- 3:53Speaker 4: makes some good points about you know, seeing everyone's kind
- 3:55Speaker 4: of and I don't know if this is necessarily true,
- 3:57Speaker 4: felt a little straw managed to me because I've seen
- 4:00Speaker 4: a ton of people saying like, well, of course the
- 4:01Speaker 4: defense is going to be top five again, and you know,
- 4:03Speaker 4: I do think that there's some continuity there, and they're
- 4:06Speaker 4: getting some very good players back, and they certainly have
- 4:08Speaker 4: more talent on that side of the ball. But it
- 4:11Speaker 4: felt like Andy was just kind of throwing cold water,
- 4:12Speaker 4: and people thought they were going to be, you know,
- 4:14Speaker 4: really good, you know, trying to rely on Judahan, who
- 4:16Speaker 4: is gonna be thirty two next month, and we know
- 4:18Speaker 4: Godshaw's unhappy and two key pieces for both the run
- 4:21Speaker 4: game and the past game. So Andy giving us a
- 4:23Speaker 4: little football here in July.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Anyone who says they know what's going to happen, they
- 4:27Speaker 2: just don't, you know. And I've heard people on both
- 4:30Speaker 2: ends too optimistic and too pessimistic, you know. And you
- 4:35Speaker 2: could make the case for why they're going to be
- 4:36Speaker 2: better or worse than next year than last year, you know,
- 4:40Speaker 2: because of the record. Yeah, but let's not forget they
- 4:42Speaker 2: only won four games last year, so in order to
- 4:45Speaker 2: be better than that, it's not going to take that
- 4:47Speaker 2: much in terms of the record. Now here's the thing,
- 4:51Speaker 2: Andy's right, there's no guarantee that the defense is going
- 4:54Speaker 2: to be better on paper because it's a better schedule.
- 4:58Speaker 2: You're losing Bill Belichick. I don't care what you say,
- 5:01Speaker 2: that's a loss. You don't lose the greatest defensive mind
- 5:04Speaker 2: in the history of football and say that that's not
- 5:06Speaker 2: a loss. But then you look at the other side.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Maybe Gonzales is healthy for the season, maybe Judon is
- 5:13Speaker 2: healthy for the season. You know, you're bringing guys back.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Afredy Jennings. Is that much better, Tavay is that much better?
- 5:19Speaker 2: You know, Barmore is now like he's the man now.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Maybe he plays like.
- 5:25Speaker 4: That, you know.
- 5:26Speaker 2: So there's a lot of reasons to think the defense
- 5:28Speaker 2: could be as good or better, you know. But at
- 5:30Speaker 2: the end of the day, it comes down to what
- 5:33Speaker 2: the quarterback. And as far as I'm concerned, as long
- 5:37Speaker 2: as he's our quarterback and you can say at the
- 5:40Speaker 2: end of the season he proved that he's going to
- 5:42Speaker 2: be the guy, I'll be happy this year, you know.
- 5:46Speaker 2: But like I heard some people say, I think they
- 5:49Speaker 2: can win ten games. I think you really have to
- 5:52Speaker 2: go on on a limb to get to that point.
- 5:54Speaker 2: I think you really do, based on how bad the
- 5:56Speaker 2: offense was last year and that they're starting from scrap
- 6:00Speaker 2: with a whole new offensive regime. You know, I find
- 6:06Speaker 2: that that's gonna be tough. But do I think they
- 6:08Speaker 2: could have more than four wins? Yeah?
- 6:10Speaker 4: Absolutely, Yeah, yeah, yeah. It made me do a little
- 6:12Speaker 4: deep dive, and I do. I wish Paul was here,
- 6:14Speaker 4: because Paul always keeps us like honest about like was
- 6:16Speaker 4: the defense good last year, and like no, and then you.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Read off well, they did come as a lot of
- 6:20Speaker 2: teams that had injuries.
- 6:22Speaker 4: Yeah, and they also, I mean not a lot of turnovers,
- 6:24Speaker 4: you know, not a lot of takeaways last year, which
- 6:26Speaker 4: was almost kind of I feel like regression to the
- 6:28Speaker 4: mean for this team. They've been so prolific with takeaways,
- 6:32Speaker 4: you know, that defense just it always seemed to be
- 6:34Speaker 4: you know, even years that way back when twenty twenty,
- 6:37Speaker 4: twenty eleven, when they weren't that good, but they got
- 6:39Speaker 4: turnovers and that kind of offset their lack of talent.
- 6:41Speaker 4: But you're right, I mean, it's I like seeing the
- 6:44Speaker 4: micd out from Alex van Pelt that we put out,
- 6:47Speaker 4: which you guys can can check out from Mini Camp,
- 6:49Speaker 4: but it was just I enjoy listening to Alex van
- 6:52Speaker 4: Pelt because you can tell he knows exactly what he's
- 6:54Speaker 4: looking for. You know, it's just it. And I mean,
- 6:57Speaker 4: I guess we're spoiled from last you know, I don't
- 6:59Speaker 4: want to say Las year Becau. Bill O'Brien clearly knew
- 7:01Speaker 4: what he wanted to. We just couldn't get there. So
- 7:03Speaker 4: it's it's it's hard to compare apple stapples, but I
- 7:05Speaker 4: did like that, and you know, I think it's a
- 7:06Speaker 4: nice window into Alex van Pelton kind of his style.
- 7:09Speaker 6: I'm just trying to see what player takes that jump,
- 7:11Speaker 6: you know, whether it's to Mario Douglas. We saw him
- 7:13Speaker 6: on Twitter working out with some other.
- 7:15Speaker 4: Big names, worked out videos on Twitter and.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Unter Henry Re signed him.
- 7:18Speaker 6: Trying to see it can Thornton finally reach that next
- 7:21Speaker 6: that next jump, and like I know, we say, don't
- 7:24Speaker 6: bet on it, but it's somebody gonna step up the
- 7:26Speaker 6: offense kind of missing the leader.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Is something going to be that guy?
- 7:28Speaker 4: That's what I wrote in the mail bag today. You know,
- 7:30Speaker 4: someone was, you know, asking, how are you going to
- 7:32Speaker 4: know if this is a successful season? And I think,
- 7:34Speaker 4: as Fred said, so many people get caught up in
- 7:36Speaker 4: what's your win prediction? You know, and and Paul always
- 7:39Speaker 4: points out like you can have certain amounts of wins
- 7:43Speaker 4: and the seasons look completely different. You can have a
- 7:45Speaker 4: six win season that you feel really positive. You could
- 7:47Speaker 4: have a six win feasion where you feel terrible. But
- 7:49Speaker 4: I think to your point, at what I wrote today
- 7:51Speaker 4: was like I just want to spark, like do we
- 7:53Speaker 4: just have to come out of the season saying we
- 7:54Speaker 4: found some sparks this year that we can build around
- 7:57Speaker 4: and try to make a real fire to to you know,
- 8:00Speaker 4: make some noise in the AFC East. That was the
- 8:02Speaker 4: way into the question was the talk of strength to schedule.
- 8:06Speaker 4: People get so wrapped up in that and it's you know,
- 8:08Speaker 4: it's so much based on last year. And for me,
- 8:11Speaker 4: I always just look at Buffalo, Miami and the Jets,
- 8:13Speaker 4: like those are the teams that you need to beat
- 8:15Speaker 4: to get back to the playoffs. How do you stack
- 8:17Speaker 4: up with those teams the rest of them? It just
- 8:20Speaker 4: depends on the year. I mean, last year Anthony Richardson
- 8:22Speaker 4: goes down from the Colts, you never see him, like,
- 8:24Speaker 4: you know, it's totally different teams depending on when you
- 8:27Speaker 4: get them, so you can, you know, take those records
- 8:28Speaker 4: from last year and say, well, this is what the
- 8:30Speaker 4: This is a tough schedule this year maybe or maybe
- 8:33Speaker 4: they get you know, what happened a couple years ago
- 8:35Speaker 4: when they face everybody's quarterback, it's hurt. You know, it
- 8:37Speaker 4: doesn't really have much impact.
- 8:39Speaker 2: And that's the thing. You know, we had a running
- 8:42Speaker 2: joke on this show, you don't know the strength of
- 8:45Speaker 2: schedule until after the season, right, And it sounds funny,
- 8:48Speaker 2: you know, because okay, so then what are we going
- 8:50Speaker 2: to talk about? But it's true, like, okay, Cincinnati Bengals.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Everyone thinks, well they're going to be better because Joe
- 8:56Speaker 2: Burrow's back. Okay, well what if you know, what if
- 9:00Speaker 2: if he doesn't play as well? What if he gets hurt?
- 9:02Speaker 2: I mean it's not like he doesn't get hurt. He's
- 9:04Speaker 2: had two seasons now already where he's missed basically the
- 9:07Speaker 2: whole season, and he going the training camp hurt last
- 9:09Speaker 2: year too. You never know what's right, So like you
- 9:11Speaker 2: don't know what's gonna happen with these guys, Aaron Rodgers,
- 9:13Speaker 2: What's what's going on with the Jets? On paper, they
- 9:15Speaker 2: should be better, but you don't know.
- 9:17Speaker 4: I got a great example the two thousand and nine Patriots. Yeah,
- 9:20Speaker 4: Tom Brady's going to be back. They got Randy Moss,
- 9:22Speaker 4: they got Wes Welker. I mean this this team set
- 9:25Speaker 4: records two years ago. They might go undefeated, and it
- 9:27Speaker 4: ended up being one of them. I just watched the.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Bill Bocher Football Life and vation these guys.
- 9:32Speaker 4: I can't get these guys to play. Who would have
- 9:34Speaker 4: saw that coming? It's it's essentially the same team coming
- 9:36Speaker 4: back from when you had a sixteen to no year,
- 9:38Speaker 4: just two years removed, and all of a sudden, you
- 9:41Speaker 4: get you take away Moss deep and you get up
- 9:42Speaker 4: on Welker, like where was that No? Seven? So so
- 9:45Speaker 4: much can happen. I mean, injuries is the obvious one,
- 9:47Speaker 4: but even just like the on nine Patriots where they
- 9:51Speaker 4: just didn't have a good team, like they were lacking
- 9:52Speaker 4: the chemistry and Vie, I like.
- 9:54Speaker 2: You know, not to just harp on the Jets, but
- 9:57Speaker 2: you can definitely see that whole situation going south over there.
- 10:00Speaker 2: He's you know, with that nut that quarterback. You know,
- 10:04Speaker 2: even if he's playing, like what if like they lose
- 10:07Speaker 2: a couple of games and he starts yelling at his
- 10:08Speaker 2: offensive line or yelling at his offensive coordinator. I mean
- 10:12Speaker 2: you could see that whole situation just just taking it.
- 10:17Speaker 4: You know, like, well, why don't you ask the coaches
- 10:18Speaker 4: about that? I mean, we know he loves that.
- 10:20Speaker 6: We'll just even look at last year, it was like there,
- 10:22Speaker 6: the the Jets are new and four plays in, like
- 10:24Speaker 6: you just never know what's going to happen until right
- 10:27Speaker 6: in the season.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Right, so you go in with I think you should
- 10:30Speaker 2: go in with optimism. You know. To me, what I'm
- 10:33Speaker 2: focused on is the quarterback. I'm focusing on Gonzales. I
- 10:37Speaker 2: think we've got, you know, a pro bowler at the
- 10:40Speaker 2: very least in the making there bar More. I think, like,
- 10:44Speaker 2: you know, he's the guy now, okay, be the guy,
- 10:49Speaker 2: you know. I hopefully Poke can get some chemistry Baker
- 10:54Speaker 2: a little bit Baker not. So you know, like if
- 10:56Speaker 2: Baker happens, that's great.
- 10:57Speaker 6: Yeah, we just like pok has to just a rookie
- 11:01Speaker 6: receiver hitting the ground running. Yeah yeah, or Baker just
- 11:05Speaker 6: one of them hitting the groundrunning. Obviously Polki's the second rounder.
- 11:08Speaker 2: But yeah, Remandre, he's got his new contract. Like, Okay,
- 11:12Speaker 2: we talked about it last week. Or maybe two weeks
- 11:15Speaker 2: ago because I wasn't here last week. But you know,
- 11:17Speaker 2: he's a three down back. That doesn't mean he has
- 11:19Speaker 2: to be down on the field for all three downs.
- 11:21Speaker 2: But the idea is when he's on the field, you
- 11:24Speaker 2: don't know what's going to happen. As a defense, it
- 11:26Speaker 2: could be a run play, it could be a pass play.
- 11:28Speaker 2: And that's what you have to be in the NFL
- 11:31Speaker 2: these days, is unpredictable.
- 11:33Speaker 4: Yeah, I think they could establish that with Gibson two.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Yeah, a little bit. Yeah, it's what's Osborne going to be?
- 11:40Speaker 4: Like I just to go back to the defense real quick,
- 11:43Speaker 4: like is there Like I just I find myself finding
- 11:46Speaker 4: there's like three levels of defense. There's an unacceptable defense,
- 11:50Speaker 4: there's a fine defense, and then there are probably one
- 11:52Speaker 4: or two defenses a year that are awesome. And that's
- 11:55Speaker 4: kind of it.
- 11:55Speaker 2: That's it.
- 11:56Speaker 4: And so like talking about like a top ten defense,
- 11:58Speaker 4: like I kind of look like from about four to
- 12:01Speaker 4: like fourteen, they're all pretty good, like just the modern NFL.
- 12:05Speaker 2: Well, they're all pretty good until the other team.
- 12:08Speaker 4: But you need the offense, right like that's till you get.
- 12:09Speaker 2: To the fourth quarter, and then it seems nobody can
- 12:11Speaker 2: to stop anybody.
- 12:12Speaker 4: Like, stack these defenses up and then tell me who
- 12:14Speaker 4: their offenses are, and then that's really going to be
- 12:16Speaker 4: the determination of what one of those is the best.
- 12:19Speaker 4: And I just I think this is a whole conversation
- 12:22Speaker 4: about how much impact defense really can still have on
- 12:25Speaker 4: the game. And I do think that there are defenses
- 12:27Speaker 4: that do. But eventually it just gets down to the end. Well,
- 12:30Speaker 4: and your defenses are gassed in the super Bowl and
- 12:32Speaker 4: what does it even matter now? And it just again
- 12:34Speaker 4: it comes down to the quarterback.
- 12:35Speaker 2: I mean last year the Patriots, I think they average
- 12:37Speaker 2: around thirteen points allowed, which was really good, but you
- 12:42Speaker 2: think about who they played, you know, minshew where they
- 12:45Speaker 2: get you know, how many games did they lose ten
- 12:47Speaker 2: to seven or ten to six, And you think, okayo,
- 12:50Speaker 2: if they just if they averaged seventeen points scored per game,
- 12:54Speaker 2: they probably would have had seven or eight wins. You know,
- 12:57Speaker 2: it's that final line. Yeah, it's going to be the
- 13:01Speaker 2: same thing this year. You know it's going to be
- 13:04Speaker 2: you know, a team that can just limit mistakes, score
- 13:07Speaker 2: that extra point here and there. That's the difference between
- 13:11Speaker 2: being over five hundred or only can't be five hundred anymore.
- 13:15Speaker 2: But you know what I mean, like you or a
- 13:18Speaker 2: playoff contender.
- 13:18Speaker 4: We got to figure out what the win percentages of
- 13:20Speaker 4: nine and eighty know there will be five forty five.
- 13:23Speaker 4: You know, whatever it is, you're gonna be above five
- 13:25Speaker 4: forty five.
- 13:26Speaker 2: I can't picture them saying that on the sports shows.
- 13:27Speaker 2: They were five forty five before.
- 13:30Speaker 4: Its no, and I'll feel I'll feel better about that.
- 13:34Speaker 4: But I just think the biggest storyline we do the
- 13:36Speaker 4: mail bag is just when will Drake may play? And
- 13:40Speaker 4: is while Jacoby Brissett playing?
- 13:42Speaker 1: Like?
- 13:42Speaker 4: Is there anything to take from that? Like? Or is
- 13:45Speaker 4: are we just treading water.
- 13:47Speaker 2: By prediction two weeks ago? I'm sticking with it. Your
- 13:50Speaker 2: Week one starter will be draking.
- 13:52Speaker 4: I and I just I'm I'm for it. I'm for it.
- 13:55Speaker 4: I don't think you can break them. I mean, he's
- 13:56Speaker 4: they're gonna work or he's not.
- 13:58Speaker 2: We talked about it at length, and I heard other
- 14:00Speaker 2: people now picking up on it because you know they
- 14:02Speaker 2: listen to us. Of course, thought leaders, there's no other
- 14:05Speaker 2: position in any sport where you get better watching. You
- 14:09Speaker 2: can get better, but you don't get as better as
- 14:12Speaker 2: fast as if you're playing, and doing it. And I
- 14:15Speaker 2: know that you know Bill Walsh in the past that
- 14:17Speaker 2: every quarterback should wait at least. I think a lot
- 14:20Speaker 2: of that thinking is they're trying to make physics out
- 14:25Speaker 2: of first you know, math one on one, it's not
- 14:28Speaker 2: that complicated. If the kid has the tools and he's
- 14:31Speaker 2: got the brain, put him out there, you know. Now, oh,
- 14:35Speaker 2: but what if your offensive line stinks? Okay, there's always that,
- 14:38Speaker 2: but rarely is your line that bad where you know
- 14:43Speaker 2: you're risking the guy's life.
- 14:45Speaker 7: You know.
- 14:46Speaker 4: Well, that's my question is is if we're going to
- 14:48Speaker 4: play Devil's advocate and say, what are the benefits to
- 14:50Speaker 4: sitting Drake may like if we're going to play the
- 14:52Speaker 4: other side of the fence, and you know, what are
- 14:54Speaker 4: those arguments? Because I hear that, like, well, what I mean,
- 14:56Speaker 4: the offensive line can be amazing and there's one blown
- 14:58Speaker 4: block and his acl is going right, you know, Like
- 15:01Speaker 4: so it's hard to imagine, Well, it's so obvious to
- 15:04Speaker 4: watch an offensive line, but they can't block anybody of court,
- 15:06Speaker 4: you know, like that doesn't exist. Yeah, So like for me,
- 15:10Speaker 4: I think there's definitely value to understand how a game
- 15:14Speaker 4: happens and what kind of adjustments need to be made
- 15:16Speaker 4: on the fly. I think there's use in that where
- 15:19Speaker 4: a team, this is our game plan going in, they're
- 15:21Speaker 4: doing something to take away what we wanted to do.
- 15:23Speaker 4: We have to adjust on the fly. It was something
- 15:25Speaker 4: that Brady and mcdamee's were amazing act because they had
- 15:27Speaker 4: so much experience. That seems hard to me for Drake
- 15:29Speaker 4: May week one where they go, let's say they go
- 15:31Speaker 4: out there against Cincinnati and they have to change the
- 15:33Speaker 4: game plan on the flight. They probably don't have a
- 15:35Speaker 4: lot to go to with them at that point, you know.
- 15:38Speaker 2: I mean, you have to experience it to understand it
- 15:42Speaker 2: and then get better at it, you know. But I
- 15:45Speaker 2: really believe that midway through training camp, it's going to
- 15:49Speaker 2: be a parent who is the best quarterback on this team?
- 15:53Speaker 2: And as long as May is mentally understanding the playbook
- 15:57Speaker 2: and the play calls and coverages and all that stuff,
- 16:00Speaker 2: there will be no reason to not start him week one.
- 16:04Speaker 4: Do you see that though, as them being equal or
- 16:06Speaker 4: do you think May is going to be.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Clearly I think I think he will be clear. He
- 16:09Speaker 2: will be he will be doing things in the field.
- 16:12Speaker 2: We're like, look, he's the best quarterback you got.
- 16:14Speaker 4: It's it's apparent, like I wonder if it's it's not
- 16:17Speaker 4: going to be.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Like you know, remember when Cam was here and Mac
- 16:21Speaker 2: was here and we were like, well, if it's equal,
- 16:23Speaker 2: start Mac. And I think it was kind of equal.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Mac was a little bit better, maybe more consistent, but
- 16:29Speaker 2: there were times where Newton looked just as good. I
- 16:31Speaker 2: don't think that's going to be the cases here. I
- 16:33Speaker 2: think it's going to be a clear winner, you know.
- 16:36Speaker 4: I just I wonder if in structure Jacoby Brissett's going
- 16:41Speaker 4: to I mean, and this is what I expect is
- 16:42Speaker 4: that in structure Jacoby Pressett should know what he's doing
- 16:45Speaker 4: and it should look pretty smooth. But we've already saw
- 16:48Speaker 4: it in Mini Campingo Tias. Once it's out of structure,
- 16:51Speaker 4: and Drake May's kind of that's when it gets fine.
- 16:54Speaker 2: The NFL, these things, right, what quarterback can extend the play?
- 16:58Speaker 2: What can they do when things break down? What can
- 17:00Speaker 2: they do when you know there's all this garbage at
- 17:03Speaker 2: their feet on the run, on the move, you know, improvised.
- 17:07Speaker 2: Those are the quarterbacks that excel these days, Those are
- 17:10Speaker 2: the ones that are thriving in the NFL, and on
- 17:15Speaker 2: this team. You know, Prissette is he's not a statue.
- 17:18Speaker 2: He can move a little bit, but he's not gonna
- 17:21Speaker 2: he's not gonna do what May's going.
- 17:22Speaker 8: To do now.
- 17:23Speaker 4: And that's but that's all the fun stuff. And that's
- 17:24Speaker 4: what we saw, like you know, the the no look
- 17:26Speaker 4: pass that you know we saw online, you know, even
- 17:29Speaker 4: just even just watching him throw on the move though,
- 17:31Speaker 4: it's like nothing I've seen here. It's like nothing I've
- 17:34Speaker 4: seen with the quarterback live, which just how comfortable he
- 17:37Speaker 4: looks when things break.
- 17:38Speaker 2: And that's the thing comfort, you know, because you mentioned
- 17:41Speaker 2: no look past well, you know, and I understand if
- 17:43Speaker 2: people say, well who cares about that? You know, how
- 17:45Speaker 2: often is that going to be needed in a game?
- 17:48Speaker 2: But it shows that he felt comfortable to do that, like,
- 17:51Speaker 2: you know, I'm feeling good about myself. I'm gonna no
- 17:53Speaker 2: look this one. You know. Yeah, it's a little bit
- 17:56Speaker 2: show body, but it also shows he's comfortable out there.
- 17:59Speaker 2: He's not panicking, he's not overwhelmed, you know, he's not
- 18:03Speaker 2: a feel to show himself. Yeah, I like that.
- 18:07Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know if that one would have happened
- 18:08Speaker 4: with Bill that that one feels like like that one
- 18:10Speaker 4: came put of.
- 18:12Speaker 2: It may not have, but one of those things, I
- 18:14Speaker 2: think that's actually a good sign. Yeah.
- 18:17Speaker 6: As a fan, I'm just ready for some confident football.
- 18:20Speaker 6: Philo and Mac went out there. I was like, well,
- 18:21Speaker 6: this is gonna be a three and out. Like if
- 18:23Speaker 6: Peron gets the first down, go with the first down.
- 18:26Speaker 6: I just like, I want to be able to watch
- 18:27Speaker 6: a competent offense. But I do think if I'm fifty
- 18:30Speaker 6: to fifty on it, like, I'm fine with either. But
- 18:32Speaker 6: if you sit May, I think you need to stick
- 18:34Speaker 6: to your guns a little and sit him the first
- 18:36Speaker 6: couple of games. Don't like once it goes south, don't
- 18:39Speaker 6: just yank Brisette.
- 18:40Speaker 4: It's hard. I know it's hard. It's hard, and that's
- 18:42Speaker 4: like you get into all the different no.
- 18:44Speaker 2: So, but to get back to that, Okay, if you
- 18:47Speaker 2: sit in May, why are you sitting him? You know,
- 18:51Speaker 2: if it's just a philosophy thing, really dumb. But if
- 18:54Speaker 2: you're sitting him because you know he just doesn't quite
- 18:56Speaker 2: get it, he's not picking up things quick enough. Yeah,
- 19:00Speaker 2: and so we'd rather just have Brissette out there. Then
- 19:04Speaker 2: you know, you have to sit him until you see
- 19:07Speaker 2: something in practice where it's clicking, you know, So it's
- 19:12Speaker 2: really why are you sitting him? Determines how fast he
- 19:15Speaker 2: can get back in because he has to come, he
- 19:17Speaker 2: has to overcome that. Why why did you sit him? Okay,
- 19:21Speaker 2: when is he going to be ready? But like I said,
- 19:24Speaker 2: I don't think. I don't he's going to show that
- 19:27Speaker 2: he's ready right away. And if that's the case, start
- 19:29Speaker 2: him with you on that. Yeah, now you know, okay,
- 19:32Speaker 2: offensive line, well, who's your tackle? They'll figure that out.
- 19:36Speaker 2: They'll figure that.
- 19:37Speaker 4: I think so. I think so. But is quarterback in
- 19:39Speaker 4: football the only position in any sport where this is
- 19:42Speaker 4: a conversation?
- 19:42Speaker 2: Yes, that that's kind of the point that we made
- 19:44Speaker 2: a couple of weeks ago. No other sport do you say, oh,
- 19:48Speaker 2: it's better to have a player sit and he'll get better,
- 19:51Speaker 2: you know, because he's not ready. It's hey, if you
- 19:53Speaker 2: think he's got the potential, get him out there, you know,
- 19:56Speaker 2: because that's how you get better faster you make him.
- 20:00Speaker 2: And that's why I was upset in year one with
- 20:02Speaker 2: Mac Jones. I said it right away, they're over managing him.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Let him make mistakes, let him figure out, you know,
- 20:10Speaker 2: the level of where his water settles. Yeah, you know,
- 20:13Speaker 2: let him throw interceptions, because that's how he'll figure out
- 20:16Speaker 2: who he is and what his limits are. You know,
- 20:19Speaker 2: we always use Peyton Manning, one of the greatest quarterbacks
- 20:22Speaker 2: of all time. Had more interceptions his first year than
- 20:25Speaker 2: he had touchdowns by far, by far. But the Colts
- 20:28Speaker 2: knew he was good. It wasn't even a question. We're
- 20:31Speaker 2: gonna We're gonna let him be Peyton Manning.
- 20:33Speaker 4: Do you think Fred how they managed him that first
- 20:36Speaker 4: year though that and did they ended up reaping what
- 20:39Speaker 4: they sewed with that in twenty twenty three?
- 20:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, they didn't let him throw into the
- 20:43Speaker 2: end zone until like Week five or something. It was
- 20:46Speaker 2: like some ridiculous amount of games before he even threw
- 20:48Speaker 2: a pass into the end zone.
- 20:50Speaker 4: And then that tentative nature you saw, and.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Then by the end of the season when you needed
- 20:54Speaker 2: him to do a little bit more, he couldn't do it.
- 20:56Speaker 2: They just weren't that good. And then year two you
- 20:59Speaker 2: don't have mcdan anymore, you know, I mean, it was
- 21:04Speaker 2: a whole mess. But it's seriously seems like I mean,
- 21:07Speaker 2: but but you know, now he had to do it
- 21:10Speaker 2: on his own more or less. Uh, and he just
- 21:13Speaker 2: couldn't do it was just it was it was it
- 21:15Speaker 2: was disgusting what we were watching.
- 21:17Speaker 4: So it's a weird kind of three year sample size.
- 21:20Speaker 2: So much happened, well.
- 21:21Speaker 4: The success, you know, right like and managed second year,
- 21:25Speaker 4: it's like they feel like, based on what Damian Harris said,
- 21:28Speaker 4: they don't have the answers anymore, like they they they
- 21:30Speaker 4: cannot counter what other teams are going to do. They
- 21:32Speaker 4: don't really have a plan of attack that's going to
- 21:35Speaker 4: put the other team in conflict. And then last year
- 21:38Speaker 4: it's like I think we just all assumed they could
- 21:39Speaker 4: shake loose of that and figure would break him of that,
- 21:43Speaker 4: restores get rid of the chaos and the structure he
- 21:46Speaker 4: had the Alabama connection. You know, we're going to get
- 21:49Speaker 4: him back on that.
- 21:52Speaker 2: But there was something going on, and you know, we've
- 21:56Speaker 2: yet to hear Bill O'Brien, you know, like able to
- 22:00Speaker 2: just talk about it honestly and openly. Someday I think
- 22:03Speaker 2: we will like what happened in that twenty twenty three season.
- 22:06Speaker 2: But there was more going on than just Mac Jones.
- 22:09Speaker 2: I'm sure of it. You know.
- 22:10Speaker 4: Yeah, well even watching I was watching the Football Life again,
- 22:13Speaker 4: but you see young Billy out, which I think was
- 22:14Speaker 4: Oaita was Oaita's first year is coordinator nine. Josh Stain No. Eight,
- 22:18Speaker 4: Josh left to know nine, So it was it was
- 22:20Speaker 4: his first year as coordinator. And you know, watching Bill
- 22:24Speaker 4: kind of go through go through things with him, he's
- 22:26Speaker 4: still kind of wide eyed and you know, now he's
- 22:28Speaker 4: obviously a very experienced coach and he's just you just
- 22:31Speaker 4: wonder how that relationship evolved last year, and you know
- 22:35Speaker 4: how frustrating it must have been for Bill O'Brien. Is
- 22:37Speaker 4: I mean, I remember our first meeting with Bill O'Brien
- 22:39Speaker 4: in that PR room and feeling like, all right, like
- 22:42Speaker 4: this guy.
- 22:42Speaker 2: Knows what you're doing.
- 22:43Speaker 4: You know the same thing I'm saying about Alex Manapel
- 22:45Speaker 4: right now. That's what I was saying last year after
- 22:46Speaker 4: we talked with Bill O'Brien and it's like, oh, God,
- 22:48Speaker 4: like sanity, he has an offense, he knows what he
- 22:50Speaker 4: wants as a plan. Yeah, and it still didn't matter.
- 22:53Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, you know, I think last year coaching
- 22:57Speaker 2: across the board on offense wasn't up to par, and
- 23:00Speaker 2: not O'Brien, but you know, you started out with Adrian
- 23:04Speaker 2: Klement offensive line and something happened there. Yeah, I mean
- 23:08Speaker 2: he was bad mouth and cameraman and you know, like
- 23:12Speaker 2: something was going on there with him, and I think
- 23:14Speaker 2: there might have been a health problem with him, you know,
- 23:16Speaker 2: but the offensive line was neglected. You know, the coaching
- 23:20Speaker 2: there wasn't wide receiving coaching. We all love Troy Brown,
- 23:24Speaker 2: but there's a reason why he's not the wide receiver
- 23:25Speaker 2: coach this year. Ye you know, so a lot a
- 23:31Speaker 2: lot of issues last year on offense, and it wasn't
- 23:34Speaker 2: just Mac Jones.
- 23:35Speaker 4: And kind of interesting though too, just to like how
- 23:36Speaker 4: they got to Tyler Hughes, who was here and you know,
- 23:39Speaker 4: was I think an offensive assistant under Troy Brown, and
- 23:41Speaker 4: then you know, goes to Washington just for a year,
- 23:44Speaker 4: and now he comes back, and so you had a
- 23:45Speaker 4: guy in the house that it almost reminds me a
- 23:47Speaker 4: little of Nick Cayley, where it's you know, you had
- 23:49Speaker 4: a guy kind of in house. They wanted to bring
- 23:51Speaker 4: him back, weren't able to, but you know, another guy
- 23:53Speaker 4: who had seemed like maybe there opportunities were stunted by
- 23:57Speaker 4: the setup of the last coaching staff.
- 23:58Speaker 2: It's true, you know, Yeah, I don't know.
- 24:01Speaker 4: But it's I'm glad they've got a lot of these
- 24:03Speaker 4: guys back in place.
- 24:04Speaker 2: I just I think that, Yeah, but I think the
- 24:06Speaker 2: bottom line, you know where we started this conversation, going
- 24:09Speaker 2: into twenty twenty four, to me, I'm optimistic that we're
- 24:13Speaker 2: going to see things that are going to give us hope.
- 24:17Speaker 2: You know, it may not reflect itself in the in
- 24:19Speaker 2: the record at the end of the season because of
- 24:21Speaker 2: a lot of factors, you know better you know, strength
- 24:24Speaker 2: to schedule in, facing better quarterbacks and all that stuff,
- 24:28Speaker 2: and just you know, starting from scratch on offense. But
- 24:31Speaker 2: I do think I hope that I hope by at
- 24:33Speaker 2: the end of the season we say, okay, we got
- 24:35Speaker 2: something to build on here. Now we add a few
- 24:38Speaker 2: more things for twenty twenty five and let's go yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 24:41Speaker 4: You see those teams all the time. I think it's
- 24:43Speaker 4: probably just a little jarring for Patriots fans to go
- 24:46Speaker 4: from expecting to be in the NFC AFC Championship Game
- 24:49Speaker 4: every year to now like, well, we've got to get
- 24:51Speaker 4: over hoping.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Like no, it's a lot it's like five years now.
- 24:54Speaker 4: But you look at a team like you know, Jacksonville,
- 24:57Speaker 4: a couple of years ago. Who you know, they got
- 24:59Speaker 4: Trevor Lawrence. There's some excitement brewing there and you know
- 25:02Speaker 4: they get to the playoffs and you know it's it's
- 25:05Speaker 4: I don't know, I'm trying to think of a good
- 25:06Speaker 4: comparison because it's just like, it isn't that powerful drug
- 25:09Speaker 4: that you really want, right Like Patriots fans, they've had
- 25:11Speaker 4: the heroine of being.
- 25:12Speaker 2: A dynasty, like they'll be chasing that right forever.
- 25:15Speaker 4: You can't like like you're like, oh great, we feel
- 25:18Speaker 4: good about a few guys, like you know, like it's
- 25:20Speaker 4: hard to get back. I mean, I'm there. I want
- 25:21Speaker 4: to be there too.
- 25:22Speaker 2: But once he gets the hard point, it's once if
- 25:25Speaker 2: Drake May proves that he can be, you know, a
- 25:28Speaker 2: top notch you know, I'm not saying elite, I'm not
- 25:30Speaker 2: saying Patrick, but if he could be a top ten
- 25:33Speaker 2: quarterback or at least top half of the league, now
- 25:36Speaker 2: you know you got something to build on. Now you
- 25:38Speaker 2: can build around this guy and you know, yeah, he's
- 25:41Speaker 2: not going to be Patrick Mahomes, but you can win
- 25:43Speaker 2: football games with him and if you if you add
- 25:46Speaker 2: some pieces, you know it'll be a worthwhile investment because
- 25:51Speaker 2: you've got the quarterback.
- 25:52Speaker 6: So when you say that the dream scenario is the
- 25:54Speaker 6: Texans to be the Texans c J. Strouch, That's that's
- 25:57Speaker 6: the dream scenario. So what's like that kind of came
- 25:59Speaker 6: out of nowhere to lofty, which, like when we mentioned
- 26:03Speaker 6: it the other week, like when c. J. Stroud came
- 26:05Speaker 6: in for a preseason game like that was not impressive
- 26:07Speaker 6: at all, Like Paul and I were shocked that rookie
- 26:09Speaker 6: of the year. But what would be the second hope,
- 26:12Speaker 6: like the goal? Second goal? If you're not gonna be
- 26:14Speaker 6: the Texas Texan is the elite goal?
- 26:16Speaker 4: I mean, I I that will, I'd say you didn't
- 26:18Speaker 4: you don't make the playoffs.
- 26:19Speaker 2: How about the Chargers with better coaching?
- 26:21Speaker 4: Yeah, there you go.
- 26:22Speaker 2: You know I see that because I think, well, maybe
- 26:25Speaker 2: not now, but when they first started with Herbert, they
- 26:28Speaker 2: were underperformed and they hurt them, hurt them a little
- 26:33Speaker 2: or he didn't start.
- 26:34Speaker 6: Sorry it was Tyrod had the injection and then and
- 26:37Speaker 6: then Herbert and they.
- 26:38Speaker 4: Were saved for themselves. But that's like Fred's thing where yeah,
- 26:41Speaker 4: you know, he's like, you're going but.
- 26:45Speaker 2: I just threw that out there, But any others.
- 26:49Speaker 4: Like I'm trying think the rookie court, Like I mean,
- 26:51Speaker 4: I always go back to, you know, just bring it
- 26:53Speaker 4: to Patriots with Paul was ninety four, and you know,
- 26:55Speaker 4: just you win some games at the end of the
- 26:57Speaker 4: season and you don't make the playoffs, but you give
- 27:00Speaker 4: some of these teams that everyone wants to talk about
- 27:02Speaker 4: the good schedule. You give some of these good teams
- 27:04Speaker 4: a really hard time. And then you know, I think,
- 27:05Speaker 4: what is it Buffalo end of the season when he
- 27:08Speaker 4: playing like two and twice in three weeks, Like, I mean,
- 27:10Speaker 4: you put up a good showing in those two Buffalo games.
- 27:13Speaker 4: They've won the division a lot, you know, ever since
- 27:15Speaker 4: you wanted, they've been the division champs. So I think
- 27:17Speaker 4: that's an opportunity that lines up that you could say, hey, man,
- 27:20Speaker 4: you know, maybe you don't beat Buffalo in both those games,
- 27:22Speaker 4: but we beat him in one. It took the last
- 27:25Speaker 4: minute Josh Allen miracle drive in Buffalo at the end
- 27:29Speaker 4: and they needed to win, you know, And Drake May
- 27:31Speaker 4: went up there and the cold and man, he looked
- 27:33Speaker 4: good and he was locked in. You know that. I mean,
- 27:36Speaker 4: that's another thing I feel like with Drake May is
- 27:38Speaker 4: I just I feel very likable guy, you know, and
- 27:42Speaker 4: I hate drawing comparison to Mac, but it was like,
- 27:44Speaker 4: you know that game in Buffalo with Mac, when that
- 27:46Speaker 4: playoff game, and I was like, and I remember Paul perfectly,
- 27:49Speaker 4: like Mac comes out, He's like, he looks cold. I'm like,
- 27:52Speaker 4: he sure does look cold.
- 27:53Speaker 2: You know, certainly that's people. That's a question on Mat
- 27:57Speaker 2: May too, because he really hasn't played in cold you know,
- 28:00Speaker 2: scuba suits.
- 28:01Speaker 4: But that's what that's what we need to see. Whereas
- 28:04Speaker 4: you know, when Matt came in similar, you know, they're like, man,
- 28:06Speaker 4: we got this Alabama kid, national champion, went to the
- 28:09Speaker 4: Senior Bowl, did two pro days to you know, work out.
- 28:11Speaker 4: He's competing. You know, he doesn't seem like a kid
- 28:14Speaker 4: who's who thinks that he's going to be handed to him.
- 28:17Speaker 4: And it started out great, but you know, then you
- 28:19Speaker 4: started to develop these little issues with him, like the
- 28:22Speaker 4: cold stuff and you know, some of the stick on
- 28:24Speaker 4: my foot up when I slide and oh I'm going
- 28:26Speaker 4: to take it down. You know, these little things that
- 28:28Speaker 4: really bug the crap out of me. Like Drake May
- 28:30Speaker 4: doesn't have any of those things yet, and I hope
- 28:32Speaker 4: that he doesn't, but he's going to have issues. They're
- 28:34Speaker 4: going to be issues with Drake May that we have
- 28:37Speaker 4: to that he has to overcome him. It's every quarterback, right,
- 28:39Speaker 4: Like even Tom Brady.
- 28:40Speaker 2: Went through, like I said, issues that he's not going
- 28:43Speaker 2: to be lights out this year. But what I'm hoping
- 28:46Speaker 2: for is, yeah, he's going to eventually be good.
- 28:50Speaker 4: But I'd love to see him the comfortable in the
- 28:51Speaker 4: cold like, like just to bring it all back to that,
- 28:53Speaker 4: Like just to see him going to Buffalo and be like, yeah, man, this.
- 28:55Speaker 2: Doesn't seem like big one glove.
- 28:59Speaker 4: Just don't let it play here too, Like it's one
- 29:01Speaker 4: thing to look at too and be like, man, too,
- 29:02Speaker 4: is never gonna win Buffalo because but they play in Miami.
- 29:05Speaker 4: So like if it does work out and they get
- 29:07Speaker 4: home field, like maybe it will work out for them.
- 29:08Speaker 4: But if you're gonna play in New England, you're gonna
- 29:10Speaker 4: play against Buffalo, you're gonna be a cold weather team
- 29:12Speaker 4: and you're gonna have that personality, like you need the
- 29:15Speaker 4: quarterback that can manage that and fit that as much
- 29:18Speaker 4: as you know might be Remandre or you know, we
- 29:21Speaker 4: want to be a tough, physical run.
- 29:22Speaker 2: So a lot of times, you know, whatever the subject
- 29:26Speaker 2: matter we're talking about. There's someone listening. Yeah, so I'm
- 29:31Speaker 2: I'm appealing to our I T listeners. Okay, is there
- 29:35Speaker 2: a possibility that in our field house you could you
- 29:39Speaker 2: could have some type of machine that could mimic weather
- 29:43Speaker 2: conditions and I mean extreme like like zero degrees you know,
- 29:48Speaker 2: right up to high humidity in Miami, and you could
- 29:52Speaker 2: you could replicate those conditions. Uh so that you know,
- 29:57Speaker 2: when he gets there, it's not the first time.
- 29:59Speaker 4: I'm surprised.
- 30:01Speaker 2: Yeah, we got the coach. There's a way to do.
- 30:05Speaker 2: I bet you and a leg, but I'll bet you
- 30:08Speaker 2: you could do it.
- 30:08Speaker 4: Would talk to Ernie about his weather machine. I think
- 30:10Speaker 4: that's what we've been under raps for a couple of years.
- 30:12Speaker 2: But yeah, bring back around. Yeah, but you just.
- 30:15Speaker 4: Gotta I don't know. It's it's like it's one of
- 30:17Speaker 4: those things like playing in the cold. I just it's
- 30:19Speaker 4: you can either do it or you can't.
- 30:20Speaker 8: I hate it.
- 30:22Speaker 4: Read I have to.
- 30:22Speaker 2: Admit playing like my toes and fingers would literally hurt.
- 30:29Speaker 2: And that was the main thing. It wasn't like my
- 30:31Speaker 2: whole body. It was just my extremity. I just I
- 30:35Speaker 2: couldn't like grab I remember I broke every finger in
- 30:38Speaker 2: one hand on a cold day. God, Like, well, I
- 30:42Speaker 2: can see.
- 30:42Speaker 4: Why you don't like it.
- 30:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I hated it, Yeah, I hated it.
- 30:45Speaker 4: Now that was the worst with football in the cold,
- 30:46Speaker 4: the hands and the toes and like even with like
- 30:49Speaker 4: like hockey which I played, and it was in you know,
- 30:52Speaker 4: an ice rink, but you have full gloves, full skates.
- 30:55Speaker 4: You are sweating your mood. Like we had a game
- 30:58Speaker 4: when I was in high school and Holderness, which had
- 31:00Speaker 4: no sides. You probably played there no sides on the rink,
- 31:03Speaker 4: and you know, and it was supposed to be a
- 31:04Speaker 4: really cold day and they were building it up like
- 31:06Speaker 4: you know, we gotta wear rubber gloves under your gloves
- 31:08Speaker 4: and you gotta put vaciline in your face here. And
- 31:09Speaker 4: then once you got in the game, like this isn't
- 31:11Speaker 4: at all.
- 31:11Speaker 2: But like a football game in like the forties, you
- 31:14Speaker 2: got that helmet.
- 31:15Speaker 4: It's all right, you get a finger bang on a helmet.
- 31:19Speaker 2: I think it's a lot better than it used to be. Like,
- 31:21Speaker 2: you know, back when I played, there was we were
- 31:23Speaker 2: barely out of leather helmets, you know, but now you
- 31:26Speaker 2: do have the gloves fields nobody wore gloves. Back then,
- 31:29Speaker 2: you didn't have any heat on the sideline. You know
- 31:32Speaker 2: that at least you could warm up while you weren't
- 31:34Speaker 2: in the game. You know, there's a lot of things
- 31:36Speaker 2: now that you know back in the old days they
- 31:38Speaker 2: didn't have. So maybe it's not as unbearable. But there
- 31:42Speaker 2: are certain games, you know, when it got.
- 31:43Speaker 4: A Buffalo game, like that's brutal.
- 31:48Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm thinking like there's not too many at Chicago.
- 31:51Speaker 6: Could be pretty cold at Buffalo, but then that Chargers
- 31:54Speaker 6: and Bill's game here.
- 31:57Speaker 4: Just for for Drake May to be the long term
- 31:59Speaker 4: solution here. I think part of like feeling the goodness.
- 32:02Speaker 4: I don't know if it'll come this year, maybe the
- 32:03Speaker 4: opportunity won't to rise, but I think we're going, like
- 32:06Speaker 4: I want to believe in Drake May and the cold
- 32:08Speaker 4: like that has to be a core belief, which with
- 32:10Speaker 4: mac Jones, I was never getting there with it.
- 32:13Speaker 2: It's not just cold and wind because I remember a
- 32:17Speaker 2: long time ago we were actually helping it might have
- 32:19Speaker 2: been EA developed their one of their football games, and
- 32:23Speaker 2: so I brought in Dante Scarnekia as a consultant, and
- 32:26Speaker 2: you know, we were looking at the weather algorithms, and
- 32:29Speaker 2: he said, the biggest one is wind. It's not precipitation, snow, rain,
- 32:34Speaker 2: it's wind. What's the wind? Like, that's that's a bigger
- 32:38Speaker 2: factor when you consider all the weather permutations. Yeah, yeah,
- 32:43Speaker 2: well that's.
- 32:43Speaker 4: When you don't let Mac throw the ball out.
- 32:45Speaker 2: I mean, Drake has a stronger arm, so maybe, well
- 32:47Speaker 2: that's it. You got to cut through that wind. You
- 32:49Speaker 2: got to you know, keep the trajectory down, you know,
- 32:52Speaker 2: the whole thing.
- 32:53Speaker 6: I'm not going to miss those Mac Jones floater passes,
- 32:56Speaker 6: just waiting for the safety to pick it off.
- 32:58Speaker 2: Every time. Every time I think of Mac Jones, I
- 33:00Speaker 2: think of that Colts game in Germany, in that play
- 33:03Speaker 2: where he just underthrew it by two layers and it
- 33:06Speaker 2: got picked off.
- 33:07Speaker 6: That winning beat on the field, and then you hear
- 33:09Speaker 6: the zappy channel and gets over me.
- 33:11Speaker 2: I feel like we left let down the whole world
- 33:14Speaker 2: of Patriots fan, not just Germany, but like all of Europe,
- 33:18Speaker 2: you know.
- 33:19Speaker 4: I mean I feel similarly, but it's still what an
- 33:22Speaker 4: awesome experience that was and the fans that came out
- 33:25Speaker 4: like the night, Like.
- 33:26Speaker 2: That's why I felt so bad. You want to give
- 33:28Speaker 2: him something, Yeah, I want to win for them, So
- 33:30Speaker 2: you know, okay, we gave them. Paul.
- 33:31Speaker 4: Paul was there, you know, CELERI.
- 33:33Speaker 2: We won four games, but one of them was Germany.
- 33:35Speaker 2: Will always have Germany.
- 33:37Speaker 6: You know, you would trade a Steelers game for that one.
- 33:40Speaker 2: You know.
- 33:42Speaker 6: I was watching the Euros and I was like, this
- 33:45Speaker 6: looks familiar. And they were playing in Frankfurt. They had
- 33:48Speaker 6: the roof closed this time and stuff. But what a
- 33:50Speaker 6: great stadium.
- 33:54Speaker 2: What's the Patriots fans? If you want to see Toyota's
- 33:57Speaker 2: best offers, including those not seen on TV, go to
- 33:59Speaker 2: buy a Toyota dot com. It's Toyota's official website for
- 34:02Speaker 2: deals from the official vehicle of the New England Patriots, Toyota.
- 34:06Speaker 2: Let's go back to Germany.
- 34:09Speaker 4: Well, they got They're going to Brazil, right, Kansas City Bay.
- 34:12Speaker 4: Do you think the Patriots will go back to Brazil
- 34:14Speaker 4: before they go back to Germany go to Brazil before?
- 34:16Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know, I don't know. But
- 34:19Speaker 2: if they do, why not have a bud Light. It's
- 34:22Speaker 2: easy to drink, it's easy to enjoy. Bud Light, the
- 34:25Speaker 2: official beer sponsor of the New England Patriots.
- 34:28Speaker 4: Oh I bet they're going down for Paul right now.
- 34:30Speaker 4: Actually I got him o Khalik. That's the Bahamian beer
- 34:33Speaker 4: I remember from my spring break trip there.
- 34:35Speaker 2: And so he's in the Bahamas. He's in the Bahamas.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Is he at that place Atlantas Atlantis Atlantis? Because because
- 34:43Speaker 2: it looks Atlantis looks good. But there's a lot of kids,
- 34:47Speaker 2: right oh yeah, yeah, well you.
- 34:49Speaker 6: Got well get a video of Paul going down the
- 34:51Speaker 6: slide that goes under the shark tank.
- 34:52Speaker 4: Or oh yeah, uh no, he sent me a picture
- 34:55Speaker 4: because the drinking age eighteen down there. So they're excited
- 34:57Speaker 4: for TJ, who you know, free.
- 35:00Speaker 2: They were excited for his kids, so excited for our son.
- 35:03Speaker 4: To there's casino there.
- 35:05Speaker 2: I think I think it has everything.
- 35:07Speaker 4: Because when we went there, we got like I don't
- 35:09Speaker 4: know if you remember when you were in college, they
- 35:10Speaker 4: would like in like the mail room or whatever. They
- 35:12Speaker 4: would have like a go on spring break and then
- 35:14Speaker 4: be like a little thing with a bunch of little
- 35:16Speaker 4: pool tabs. And it was like, all right, what is
- 35:18Speaker 4: the cheapest place in Nasau? Because we were so we
- 35:20Speaker 4: went to this place called the Colony Club. That was
- 35:22Speaker 4: like first our flight was delayed. We got there like
- 35:25Speaker 4: two in the morning, like we still have to do orientation,
- 35:27Speaker 4: like what are we doing? Then we get to this
- 35:30Speaker 4: hotel and it was terrible. So we would just always
- 35:32Speaker 4: go over to Atlanta to just like walk.
- 35:33Speaker 6: Around people do you can just walk get a day
- 35:36Speaker 6: pass so people say the cheaper hotels and boat over.
- 35:39Speaker 2: I mean, like, no one's going to kick you out around.
- 35:41Speaker 6: The pool, right, No, probably buy like a day pass
- 35:44Speaker 6: or whatever. I did that in for golf. You just
- 35:47Speaker 6: like buy a all day pass to.
- 35:49Speaker 4: One of our other They got locked in their room,
- 35:51Speaker 4: like the doors broke and they were like just stuck
- 35:53Speaker 4: in the room. We couldn't get them out the Bahamas.
- 35:57Speaker 2: So Paul's down there with this whole family, their.
- 35:59Speaker 4: Whole extended family. I don't know if extended nuclear fan.
- 36:02Speaker 4: I think it's just the four just the foursome, the
- 36:04Speaker 4: fearsome forsome. And I think Evan's probably out on Martha's vineyard.
- 36:07Speaker 4: That's his spot.
- 36:08Speaker 2: Martha's in the vineyard and.
- 36:11Speaker 4: Out right, no, no, he thinks Jaws is overrated. Doesn't
- 36:14Speaker 4: hold off which has been on a tunnel I've been
- 36:18Speaker 4: taking Oh my god.
- 36:19Speaker 9: Uh yeah, So no, the guys are vacation, ain't getting
- 36:23Speaker 9: ready all right, about a five past five hundred is
- 36:25Speaker 9: the a stick and hotline web radio at patriots at
- 36:29Speaker 9: web Radio.
- 36:30Speaker 2: Patures dot com is the email address Jack and and
- 36:33Speaker 2: Arbus is a new studio. Looks awesome, but Fred looks
- 36:35Speaker 2: like he's gonna sink into that cushy chair like quicksand
- 36:39Speaker 2: these these aren't. These are just temp furniture. We're gonna
- 36:43Speaker 2: get leather, Ye, leather chair.
- 36:45Speaker 4: Do they have like a spot for a drink?
- 36:47Speaker 2: Maybe drink? Yeah, we should look at that foot rest. Yeah,
- 36:52Speaker 2: I mean we'll as we go along, we'll tweak it. Yeah.
- 36:55Speaker 4: Well, as I see the other podcast out there, I
- 36:57Speaker 4: do notice that these are the thing like this is
- 36:59Speaker 4: what everybody use this elbow in front of air well.
- 37:02Speaker 2: Now that you know, we don't need the headphones, you know,
- 37:05Speaker 2: so it's a little weird though.
- 37:06Speaker 4: I'm having trouble, like I feel like when the headphones
- 37:08Speaker 4: are on, you're locked, it can hear yourself, and it
- 37:11Speaker 4: just it almost feels as much you're listening to the show,
- 37:13Speaker 4: and this way, it just feels kind of like we're
- 37:15Speaker 4: sitting here having a conversation.
- 37:16Speaker 2: Well that's kind of it's supposed to. Yeah, we're supposed
- 37:19Speaker 2: to be Okay.
- 37:19Speaker 4: You said, I'm just you know, I feel I'm in
- 37:22Speaker 4: uncharted territory here. I'm in a chair.
- 37:24Speaker 2: Yeah, but all right, Oh you know what I've Matt,
- 37:30Speaker 2: I forgot to order food? Right?
- 37:34Speaker 4: Where are we gonna put the sandwich?
- 37:35Speaker 2: Figure something out anyway, Matt writes in a different Matt,
- 37:40Speaker 2: I was watching some Drake May highlights and I was
- 37:42Speaker 2: wondering where you draw the line between fixing his form
- 37:46Speaker 2: and letting him play his natural style. This is where
- 37:49Speaker 2: we need Evan. It seems like he can make some
- 37:51Speaker 2: really good throws on the run. So where do you say? Yeah,
- 37:54Speaker 2: his form isn't almost perfect, but he's athletic and able
- 37:57Speaker 2: to put the ball where he wants, So let's focus
- 38:00Speaker 2: on getting him to make the right decisions instead of
- 38:02Speaker 2: tearing down his form completely. Is his form that bad?
- 38:06Speaker 4: I don't think it's that bad. I don't think it's
- 38:07Speaker 4: that bad.
- 38:08Speaker 2: I mean, isn't any worse than what mac Jones Wasn't
- 38:10Speaker 2: I didn't hear anyone complaining about mac Jones when he
- 38:12Speaker 2: came in. No.
- 38:13Speaker 4: I mean, I just think it's it's it's hard because
- 38:16Speaker 4: you pull one string out to try to adjust something
- 38:19Speaker 4: and then you screw it up. And so I think
- 38:21Speaker 4: for any like throwing coaches like, they're all very very care.
- 38:24Speaker 2: Sure if you have a reel of his interceptions at
- 38:27Speaker 2: North Carolina, I'm sure nine out of ten of those
- 38:30Speaker 2: something was going wrong with his footwork or whatever. And
- 38:33Speaker 2: that's but that's why you throw interceptions. I mean, you
- 38:37Speaker 2: know Brady back, you know when he was on a
- 38:39Speaker 2: back foot or bledsoe on a back foot, you more
- 38:41Speaker 2: tend to airball it and airmail it and you get
- 38:44Speaker 2: an interception. So if you just focus on his mistakes, yeah,
- 38:47Speaker 2: I'll bet you on every one of those mistakes there
- 38:49Speaker 2: was some technique that was off. But isn't that the
- 38:52Speaker 2: case with every quarterback?
- 38:54Speaker 4: I think so. And that's what one of the takeaways
- 38:56Speaker 4: I had when we did that. The Brady thring with
- 38:57Speaker 4: Josh was just how prepared he was snapped to snap
- 39:01Speaker 4: so so much of his mechanics were already ready to
- 39:05Speaker 4: go because he knew where he was going with the ball, like,
- 39:08Speaker 4: and it was all pre set. It wasn't you know,
- 39:11Speaker 4: harried or rushed. He always was so methodical that he
- 39:15Speaker 4: was able to put you know, I mean this is
- 39:16Speaker 4: there were so many times when Josh was just like, like,
- 39:18Speaker 4: look at the mechanics. It's just absolutely perfect. You know
- 39:21Speaker 4: because pre snap he canceled out this side of the
- 39:24Speaker 4: field and he's only working on this side, and it's
- 39:26Speaker 4: probably going to be this guy and you know, so
- 39:28Speaker 4: I think it's it's it's not to the question, but
- 39:31Speaker 4: it's mental.
- 39:31Speaker 8: You know.
- 39:31Speaker 4: It's as much as he starts to understand the game
- 39:33Speaker 4: more and understand the offense, I think it'll it'll help
- 39:36Speaker 4: his mechanics.
- 39:36Speaker 2: Tell you a quarterback whose mechanics to me looked great
- 39:40Speaker 2: was Garoppolo. Yeah, I mean he came in camping just
- 39:43Speaker 2: a I mean the way his release and you know, uh,
- 39:47Speaker 2: you know his front foot with the weight on the
- 39:50Speaker 2: front foot and you know, the spacing between his feet,
- 39:54Speaker 2: angle of his shoulders. To me, he looked like, you know,
- 39:58Speaker 2: really well, uh, coach quarterback. But he throw a lot
- 40:04Speaker 2: of interceptions in in practice. You know, it wasn't because
- 40:08Speaker 2: of technique, it was because of a peer. I mean,
- 40:14Speaker 2: I mean he had a much quicker release than Brady.
- 40:16Speaker 2: You know.
- 40:17Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, just stood out immediately he could. I mean
- 40:20Speaker 4: you could see why they liked him. But yeah, again
- 40:22Speaker 4: you talk about Drake May. It was like Jimmy Garoppolo
- 40:24Speaker 4: came in. You didn't know that he was going to
- 40:27Speaker 4: be an injury prone kind of guy that couldn't quite
- 40:30Speaker 4: solve the deal in the big ones, you know, but
- 40:32Speaker 4: wins a lot of games. But that's what his you know,
- 40:34Speaker 4: NFL quarterback personality is what Drake May is.
- 40:36Speaker 2: Going to be. He did not a fall. I can laugh,
- 40:39Speaker 2: but I think I think players should be coached on
- 40:43Speaker 2: how to fall. And I know in the martial arts
- 40:45Speaker 2: they yeah, they teach that how to how to you know,
- 40:50Speaker 2: roll your shoulder when you fall and don't put all
- 40:52Speaker 2: your weight on your shoulder and kind of absorb absorb
- 40:55Speaker 2: the blow of the fall. And I think I think
- 40:58Speaker 2: it's worthwhile learning that, you know, sure.
- 41:01Speaker 4: I mean I love when the guys get into the
- 41:02Speaker 4: leak rowle. I mean, Tip was the famous one of like, yeah,
- 41:04Speaker 4: I remember his kid being like he's into martial arts.
- 41:07Speaker 2: You know that.
- 41:08Speaker 4: But you know, these the guys start to get it,
- 41:10Speaker 4: like Brady getting into different things. You know, as these
- 41:12Speaker 4: guys start to find their path fighting, you know, different
- 41:14Speaker 4: training methods. But that's why I think you're totally right.
- 41:16Speaker 4: I mean, I feel like Judo is like, that's what it's.
- 41:18Speaker 2: Meant for, how to roll, how to fall and roll.
- 41:21Speaker 4: But even that, like I remember that first injury he
- 41:23Speaker 4: took against Miami right where he kind of felt like
- 41:26Speaker 4: this shoulder out no good.
- 41:28Speaker 2: And like, you know, even with concussions, I noticed some
- 41:31Speaker 2: guys when they fall, they lose control of their neck
- 41:35Speaker 2: and their head hits. But there's other guys they bowl
- 41:38Speaker 2: their neck and it stops them from hitting their head.
- 41:41Speaker 4: That's another thing with that that I've noticed with NFL guys,
- 41:43Speaker 4: Like they get in his rookies and then all of
- 41:45Speaker 4: a sudden, their neck just slowly like until you get
- 41:47Speaker 4: like Devin mccordy neck, right, that's like they just their
- 41:50Speaker 4: necks just expand and you understand why. But yeah, it's
- 41:53Speaker 4: one thing.
- 41:54Speaker 2: Let's see Anthony Wright say it's from Hampton, Virginia. If
- 41:58Speaker 2: somehow the scenario plays that Drake May has an okay
- 42:01Speaker 2: first season but nothing special. Also a college quarterback has
- 42:05Speaker 2: a transcendent season like Joe Burrow and we end up
- 42:08Speaker 2: with the number one pick. Would you rather stick with
- 42:10Speaker 2: May and trade the pick to keep building or select
- 42:13Speaker 2: a new quarterback. This is a part of why I'm
- 42:16Speaker 2: worried they don't play May enough. You need to know
- 42:19Speaker 2: who you have in order to make informed decisions on
- 42:22Speaker 2: the next draft. Worst case scenario is we barely play
- 42:25Speaker 2: May thinking he will figure it out later, and pass
- 42:28Speaker 2: up on a great quarterback in the draft next year
- 42:30Speaker 2: because we don't want to give up on an unknown.
- 42:32Speaker 2: It's a good question, because you know, you could say, well,
- 42:35Speaker 2: there's no good quarterbacks really coming out this year. Well,
- 42:38Speaker 2: when Joe Burrow the year before, he wasn't considered an
- 42:42Speaker 2: elite quarterback. It's only that last year at LSU where
- 42:45Speaker 2: he did it. That could happen with.
- 42:46Speaker 6: Somebody just say hypothetically. Shador goes off with, yeah.
- 42:49Speaker 2: That could happen, and then you have the first pick.
- 42:52Speaker 4: What do you do, Well, why does Drake May have
- 42:55Speaker 4: a bad year? Like, why wasn't he good? Was he
- 42:58Speaker 4: not protected? Was he you know, was did he not
- 43:00Speaker 4: have a weapon? Yeah? You know, I think there it's
- 43:03Speaker 4: unlikely that you're gonna come out of that scenario and say, well,
- 43:06Speaker 4: everything was perflect. Let's just drike this kind of average.
- 43:08Speaker 2: Let's say Drake May has a good year, good year,
- 43:11Speaker 2: you know, and it's it's Joe Burrow it's Joe Burrow
- 43:15Speaker 2: after that year in LSU. He's a national champion. You
- 43:17Speaker 2: have the first pick. What do you do?
- 43:20Speaker 4: No, I stick with Drake Man.
- 43:21Speaker 2: Stick with Drake Man.
- 43:22Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, yeah, I'd go I'd go with I mean,
- 43:25Speaker 4: I mean, if you can point a direct line to
- 43:27Speaker 4: the left tackle, I'd say just stick and take a
- 43:29Speaker 4: lot of the tackles that are going to be top
- 43:30Speaker 4: five picks. If that's what you know, what you really
- 43:32Speaker 4: think you need, make sure you give Drake May enough
- 43:35Speaker 4: of a chance. He's just too athletically gifted. Like with Mac,
- 43:39Speaker 4: I can move on early because he's not that athletically gifted,
- 43:42Speaker 4: like he's he's a you know, a smart quarterback. And
- 43:44Speaker 4: I mean he's you know, obviously an NFL quarterback. As
- 43:47Speaker 4: Bill said, he can play in the league. I think
- 43:49Speaker 4: at least be a backup. But I think Drake May's
- 43:51Speaker 4: got too many traits to give up on him after
- 43:53Speaker 4: one year. So it would have to look really great
- 43:55Speaker 4: around him, and he would just keep continually screwing up,
- 43:58Speaker 4: making bad decisions. You know, it looked nothing like the
- 44:01Speaker 4: player that we've seen, you know, pre glimpses of an Ota.
- 44:03Speaker 6: Well then also if you if if Drake is decent
- 44:06Speaker 6: and there's some all star quarterback, the amount of assets
- 44:09Speaker 6: are going to get for that pick. I think it's
- 44:11Speaker 6: just worth it to stick with Drake. You might be
- 44:12Speaker 6: able to get that superstar number one receiver or you know,
- 44:16Speaker 6: it's a good point defensive team around too many picks
- 44:21Speaker 6: free agency too. Yeah, just think think about what the
- 44:23Speaker 6: Bears are got. Think about what the Bears would have
- 44:25Speaker 6: got if they wanted to keep fields and gave up
- 44:27Speaker 6: the Caleb Williams. But if they would have gotten a
- 44:29Speaker 6: franchise worth of picks.
- 44:30Speaker 2: Yeah, so you're saying tank the season.
- 44:33Speaker 6: I just don't think it ud be that good to
- 44:34Speaker 6: give up that pick.
- 44:35Speaker 4: I mean, it would have been a tackle in Roma Dunza,
- 44:37Speaker 4: you know, like that's probably what they would have done.
- 44:40Speaker 2: But what's wrong with that?
- 44:41Speaker 10: No?
- 44:41Speaker 4: I know, I mean'll see if KYLEB.
- 44:44Speaker 6: Williams balls out. If he doesn't fall out, then yeah,
- 44:47Speaker 6: might be worth it.
- 44:48Speaker 4: But that's another thing. Like the schedule, Like are people
- 44:50Speaker 4: saying Kaleb Williams and Chica is like is that a
- 44:52Speaker 4: beast of Like? Like every team is pretty good right now?
- 44:54Speaker 4: Like I just I just don't see like the schedules
- 44:57Speaker 4: out there that are like, well that's a layup schedule.
- 44:59Speaker 4: Like every team I think you could point to have,
- 45:02Speaker 4: you know, some problems like this. It's a good time
- 45:04Speaker 4: for the NFL right now. There's a lot of good
- 45:05Speaker 4: young quarterback.
- 45:05Speaker 6: The thing that annoys me about the Bears is that they
- 45:07Speaker 6: were that Thursday night game away from their coach being fired. Like,
- 45:11Speaker 6: you know, people get fields a lot of crap, but
- 45:14Speaker 6: it wasn't that bad and the coaching. He was a
- 45:16Speaker 6: similar situation to Mac Like the coaching wasn't that good?
- 45:18Speaker 6: All right, you get rid of fields now. Now you
- 45:20Speaker 6: got Kavi Willams. So it's all in the coach now
- 45:22Speaker 6: because they made all the changes for their roster.
- 45:25Speaker 4: So yeah, if it looks the same.
- 45:28Speaker 2: Let's get to the phones. This is the first time
- 45:29Speaker 2: we've done it with this headphone less.
- 45:32Speaker 4: It's gonna block set up.
- 45:33Speaker 2: So let's let's see what this sounds like. Patty's an agaa,
- 45:36Speaker 2: what's up? Patty going on?
- 45:39Speaker 10: Guys?
- 45:39Speaker 7: Can you hear me? All right?
- 45:40Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 45:41Speaker 4: Hey Patty?
- 45:43Speaker 11: Hey, So Freddy, I am one behind you to me
- 45:47Speaker 11: like like hello, I've gone on take it for what
- 45:55Speaker 11: it's worth. So like I was on YouTube watching Alex
- 45:58Speaker 11: the show, and there's a few different comments are saying
- 46:01Speaker 11: like Drake may should start week eight or week ten,
- 46:04Speaker 11: will get killed if he starts week one. And my
- 46:06Speaker 11: my whole point was if if is the offensive line sucks,
- 46:11Speaker 11: what's the difference if these starts week one or week ten?
- 46:13Speaker 11: At least if he starts week one, you get a
- 46:15Speaker 11: whole full season with them, you know.
- 46:17Speaker 2: And I don't think you start in week one with
- 46:20Speaker 2: a bad offensive line. It can't get worse than that, right,
- 46:23Speaker 2: So anything else is going to be better for him? Yeah,
- 46:26Speaker 2: I mean, listen, I don't want him to get hurt,
- 46:28Speaker 2: but I don't think that's gonna you know, it can
- 46:30Speaker 2: happen to anybody, you know.
- 46:32Speaker 11: I mean, and to me, he's too athletics for you know,
- 46:35Speaker 11: I think he's very elusive. He can run if he
- 46:38Speaker 11: needs to pull it down and tuck the ball and
- 46:41Speaker 11: take off. But the other thing, too is oh man,
- 46:45Speaker 11: I just I just lost my mind. Forget it, that's
- 46:48Speaker 11: all I have.
- 46:48Speaker 2: I'm behind you, okay, Joe, I'll see.
- 46:50Speaker 11: Well, let's let the kid get in there and do some.
- 46:53Speaker 2: Damage, all right, Thanks, Patty, Let's go to Brad and
- 46:58Speaker 2: Ohio what's up, brad.
- 47:00Speaker 12: Hi, how you gonna do today?
- 47:02Speaker 2: Good? How are you.
- 47:04Speaker 13: Good?
- 47:04Speaker 7: Big good?
- 47:05Speaker 2: Joe Burrow Country.
- 47:07Speaker 10: Talking to you?
- 47:09Speaker 13: Yeah, right, farm Country.
- 47:11Speaker 2: Right.
- 47:13Speaker 7: So anyway, guys, I got some questions about the new
- 47:18Speaker 7: receiver coach we got from Pittsburgh, which is the he
- 47:22Speaker 7: the newest tradition right to our coaching staff Underwood.
- 47:27Speaker 2: Yeah, taikwan yeah.
- 47:30Speaker 7: All right. So that being said, and with Troy.
- 47:35Speaker 13: Brown getting demoted a little bit, and the fact that
- 47:37Speaker 13: Pop Douglas really wasn't uh, I mean, so many passes
- 47:43Speaker 13: he was open. When I looked back to his film
- 47:45Speaker 13: at that Mac Jones didn't even.
- 47:48Speaker 10: Look his direction.
- 47:50Speaker 7: Given that and the fact we have better receivers that
- 47:53Speaker 7: I believe we drafted this year, I think I had.
- 47:56Speaker 13: An optimistic view of our team. I guess more them,
- 48:01Speaker 13: you know, most people, and I've been to Patriots fan
- 48:04Speaker 13: quite some times, so I think if May plays that
- 48:08Speaker 13: we can win seven, eight games, even more.
- 48:10Speaker 2: Okay, Well, that's I mean, I hope you're right. I
- 48:13Speaker 2: mean that's to me, that's optimistic. Yeah, it's optimistic. I'm
- 48:17Speaker 2: thrilled that they w eight. Yeah, if they won seven
- 48:19Speaker 2: or eight games this year, I think Patriot Nation they would,
- 48:24Speaker 2: They would sign up for that in a heartbeat, and
- 48:27Speaker 2: they couldn't wait for twenty twenty five. It would be
- 48:29Speaker 2: like the most anticipated offseason ever.
- 48:32Speaker 12: Yeah, well I mean that.
- 48:34Speaker 13: So would that be instead next year's draft?
- 48:37Speaker 7: We got a lot of holes to fill, Like, that's.
- 48:39Speaker 2: What I mean. Now, let's build, let's go.
- 48:42Speaker 7: Yeah, we need to tie end, we need to left tackle.
- 48:46Speaker 7: I think defense is going to be a primary draft
- 48:49Speaker 7: next year, really, And I think we should start May.
- 48:52Speaker 13: Around the Miami game or you know, after the forty
- 48:56Speaker 13: nine er game somewhere and there.
- 48:58Speaker 7: I don't know what you guys think.
- 49:00Speaker 2: Tell me why tell me why that game not week
- 49:04Speaker 2: one or not later? Tell me why you picked that
- 49:06Speaker 2: game simply because.
- 49:08Speaker 12: Of the division game? Primarily? Okay, and so he already
- 49:12Speaker 12: gets familiarity with and the division opponent within the season,
- 49:17Speaker 12: and he starts building that kind of tenure he has
- 49:22Speaker 12: with a division opponent as its number one opponent, opposed
- 49:26Speaker 12: to a team that you know, we're not going to
- 49:28Speaker 12: see all the time.
- 49:29Speaker 10: If if that has any kind.
- 49:30Speaker 2: Of to me, Yeah, and you know, thanks for the call, Brad,
- 49:34Speaker 2: appreciate it. I don't think it makes a difference, you know,
- 49:37Speaker 2: like if you're not going to start in week one,
- 49:40Speaker 2: then again, why did you not start on week one?
- 49:44Speaker 2: And you start him when he's ready, you know, and
- 49:48Speaker 2: personally I think he's going to be ready week one,
- 49:50Speaker 2: but like I wouldn't like to me it's it's just
- 49:53Speaker 2: it's crazy to sit here now and say, yeah, I
- 49:56Speaker 2: think week four is the right time, right, It doesn't
- 49:59Speaker 2: make any sense if you're sitting him.
- 50:01Speaker 6: I think you start him week eight against the Jets,
- 50:05Speaker 6: just because the way the schedule builds out, you got
- 50:08Speaker 6: the Texas at home week six, but then you don't
- 50:10Speaker 6: want me to go from a home game right to
- 50:11Speaker 6: playing in London.
- 50:12Speaker 2: So I'd be like, if you're going to.
- 50:13Speaker 6: Sit him or why are you sitting him that? If
- 50:16Speaker 6: you're being cautious, which I don't know why you should
- 50:19Speaker 6: be cautious, I'm with you.
- 50:20Speaker 2: Are you cautious because of the offensive line?
- 50:22Speaker 6: Offensive line, offensive line, just some of the some big
- 50:27Speaker 6: games in the first half of the season.
- 50:28Speaker 2: So you're saying, I want to see how our lines
- 50:30Speaker 2: playing first before I throw him out there.
- 50:32Speaker 6: I just I don't think you need to get his
- 50:34Speaker 6: confidence killed if you're if he's getting out there and
- 50:37Speaker 6: getting bludgeoned every game.
- 50:39Speaker 2: That's that I.
- 50:40Speaker 4: Mean, that's I mean, that's probably the core of the art.
- 50:43Speaker 2: Maybe that's part of the support staff is to not
- 50:46Speaker 2: let his confidence get low, is to keep him up
- 50:49Speaker 2: even when he's not doing well.
- 50:50Speaker 6: But I'm just looking at you're away at the Bengals
- 50:52Speaker 6: week one, then you have Seattle, but then you're away
- 50:54Speaker 6: at the Jets, away at the forty nine ers. It's
- 50:57Speaker 6: just it's a tough stretch anyway.
- 50:59Speaker 2: I Mean, some people say it's better to start a
- 51:01Speaker 2: quarterback on the road, you know, because they're not feeling
- 51:04Speaker 2: the pressure of the home fans and being in front
- 51:06Speaker 2: of them, and you know, there's less noise during the week.
- 51:10Speaker 2: You know, you're in the hotel, you know.
- 51:12Speaker 4: I don't know, I know, there's just so much stock
- 51:14Speaker 4: going into it. And I just come back to like
- 51:15Speaker 4: put up or shut up, Like get in there, Yeah,
- 51:17Speaker 4: play the game, start racking up.
- 51:20Speaker 2: If it's gonna be great, You're gonna be great.
- 51:21Speaker 4: You're gonna be great, You're gonna be great. You've got
- 51:24Speaker 4: what four years, five years? I mean, just start the
- 51:26Speaker 4: clock now, like start getting that experience. Start seeing how
- 51:29Speaker 4: teams play, you know, and if they do. I mean,
- 51:32Speaker 4: I just I just have a hard time imagining that
- 51:34Speaker 4: they're gonna be so inept that he's just going to
- 51:36Speaker 4: get killed. And I mean, and to be honest, like
- 51:39Speaker 4: I keep my brain. I keep going back to like
- 51:41Speaker 4: Super Bowl forty two or the AFC Championship in Denver,
- 51:44Speaker 4: when Brady was getting killed the whole game like that happens,
- 51:49Speaker 4: Like it's not, Oh, our offensive line is great, Like
- 51:51Speaker 4: everything's fine, Like there are games like that. So I
- 51:55Speaker 4: just I have trouble seeing them as bad as they
- 51:57Speaker 4: were last year, being completely inept and just cutting cutting
- 52:01Speaker 4: guy free rushers every other play like that just doesn't
- 52:04Speaker 4: that And like in that case, I get like, sure,
- 52:06Speaker 4: sit them, but that's not reality, Like like there's gonna
- 52:09Speaker 4: be ups and downs, and no matter who's in there,
- 52:11Speaker 4: and no matter who your offensive line is, it might
- 52:13Speaker 4: be a little shaky at first. Like I think the
- 52:15Speaker 4: way training camp goes now, with the amount of hitting
- 52:17Speaker 4: that these guys do, the offensive line is always a
- 52:20Speaker 4: little bit behind and it takes a while to gel.
- 52:22Speaker 2: And the other thing that you know, the modern NFL
- 52:25Speaker 2: has to contend with that the old NFL didn't is
- 52:28Speaker 2: the money. You know, like Okay, you've got these quarterbacks
- 52:32Speaker 2: and basically five year contracts, but the fifth year is
- 52:34Speaker 2: an option year, right, you know, so you have a
- 52:38Speaker 2: limited amount of time to know this guy's worth and
- 52:42Speaker 2: you know, four years from now it could be eighty
- 52:44Speaker 2: million dollars a year. Who knows. You need to find
- 52:47Speaker 2: that out. So every season is precious, and then every
- 52:51Speaker 2: game within the season is precious. You need that time
- 52:53Speaker 2: to understand who you have, especially if.
- 52:56Speaker 4: You're Elliott Wolfer, Jorromeo and like, you know, this is
- 52:59Speaker 4: their first opportunity as a you know, GM and head coach,
- 53:03Speaker 4: Like what do they want? Like don't they want to
- 53:05Speaker 4: find out so that if this isn't the case, that
- 53:06Speaker 4: they can quickly try to tack to something else rather
- 53:09Speaker 4: than well, the whole first year we just kind of
- 53:11Speaker 4: did Joe Kobe for sad and we didn't really learn
- 53:13Speaker 4: anything about Drake and Nate. Like that just doesn't seem like.
- 53:15Speaker 2: Sad to me. So I don't know, I listen, I'm
- 53:18Speaker 2: sure there are coaches out there that still they feel that,
- 53:22Speaker 2: you know, the guys need time because they think that
- 53:26Speaker 2: you know, it's it's rocket science. But like for a
- 53:29Speaker 2: great quarterback, it's not the game slows down for them.
- 53:33Speaker 2: They understand it mentally. This isn't rocket science. It's just
- 53:37Speaker 2: experience understanding the speed of the game, you know, because
- 53:40Speaker 2: to me, that's the biggest difference. It's it's how fast
- 53:43Speaker 2: the game goes and you have to be able to process.
- 53:46Speaker 2: But once you figure that out, then now it's all
- 53:49Speaker 2: your god given talent. If you've got it, you got it.
- 53:52Speaker 4: Do you feel I feel like this conversation, like we're
- 53:54Speaker 4: all I feel like this is a conversation going on
- 53:56Speaker 4: a lot of places, but it feels like it's raised
- 53:58Speaker 4: the stakes of training camp a little bit. That like
- 54:00Speaker 4: we want to really want like the job.
- 54:04Speaker 2: And you know, it's less practices, it's less practices with pads, preseasons,
- 54:10Speaker 2: a joke, the games itself, you know, so like there's
- 54:14Speaker 2: less time for coaches and scouts to evaluate. You got
- 54:19Speaker 2: to get them in the game.
- 54:20Speaker 4: And I mean and all that we've been talking about
- 54:22Speaker 4: here for the first like forty five minutes, like that
- 54:25Speaker 4: joint practice against the Eagles, like.
- 54:28Speaker 2: One day, one day, one day.
- 54:30Speaker 6: Also, I haven't been that decided for a practice in
- 54:32Speaker 6: a while. Like usually the player, like you know, it's
- 54:34Speaker 6: usually a three game.
- 54:35Speaker 4: Are you legally allowed within fifty yards of a J.
- 54:37Speaker 7: Brown?
- 54:37Speaker 4: Or is that you still have to maintain.
- 54:41Speaker 2: That's Chris Cassidy, That's that's you and you're running back.
- 54:46Speaker 4: Now, raven thank you very much. Which is another like
- 54:49Speaker 4: did you find like these moves happened in the off season?
- 54:51Speaker 4: You know, we're so focused on the Patriots and then
- 54:53Speaker 4: it's like I'm watching fl Network and then all of
- 54:54Speaker 4: a sudden, it's like Derek Henry talking about his new
- 54:56Speaker 4: teamates with the Ravens, and like, oh crap, you know
- 55:01Speaker 4: he's going to be going to look scary, Like, yeah.
- 55:06Speaker 2: I care for the all black, all black with the black. Yeah.
- 55:10Speaker 4: But but again, he's a running back, So maybe this
- 55:12Speaker 4: will be the year where it's like he just can't get.
- 55:13Speaker 2: Out of there. I think, I know he's that's not
- 55:17Speaker 2: the same as he used to be, But I think
- 55:19Speaker 2: he's gonna have a year.
- 55:20Speaker 4: There he'll chip on his shoulder.
- 55:21Speaker 2: I mean, you want to know what Adrian Peterson had
- 55:24Speaker 2: that one year where I forget, like everyone thought he
- 55:28Speaker 2: was done and then he had that one year. I
- 55:30Speaker 2: think that's gonna be Derrick Henry this year.
- 55:33Speaker 4: Yeah, I watched a little of they're doing behind the
- 55:36Speaker 4: scenes hard knocks right now for Giants for the Giants. Yeah,
- 55:41Speaker 4: And I always you develop opinions when you watch these
- 55:43Speaker 4: things and I'm like, yeah, it's not gonna work there,
- 55:45Speaker 4: Like that's my like watching Joe, Shane and Dabill do
- 55:47Speaker 4: their things behind scenes and this is all just like
- 55:49Speaker 4: after the season they're you know, talking about really the
- 55:52Speaker 4: decisions is keep sakwan or you know, finally find out
- 55:56Speaker 4: what's going on with Daniel Jones and if they really
- 55:57Speaker 4: have something.
- 55:58Speaker 6: But the Daniel Jones clip when he's like we could
- 56:00Speaker 6: have had Patrick Mahomes and the coaches, like I'm talking about.
- 56:04Speaker 4: No, I mean, I think it's pretty interesting. Like we're
- 56:06Speaker 4: so used to hard Knocks being training camp and this
- 56:08Speaker 4: is a little bit of the offseason and you see,
- 56:10Speaker 4: but it just cracks me up because it's like, at
- 56:12Speaker 4: the end of the day, it's the same thing that
- 56:14Speaker 4: we do, Like we don't just kind of sit around
- 56:16Speaker 4: and it's like the same kind of conversation.

- 58:40Speaker 16: When you were traded back here was that Halloween?
- 58:43Speaker 8: It was Halloween night. I remember being there.
- 58:46Speaker 16: This is a I mean, you want to talk about
- 58:48Speaker 16: where dad's you know, you remember going out trick or
- 58:50Speaker 16: treating with your kids. Okay's in the NFL. It's a
- 58:53Speaker 16: little bit different, but at the end of the day,
- 58:54Speaker 16: he's still a dad. You're traded back to Hey, we're
- 58:57Speaker 16: going back to the wingl This.
- 58:58Speaker 4: Is great tell us.
- 59:00Speaker 17: So I remember leaving the facilities in San Francisco that
- 59:05Speaker 17: day and I was like, all right, see tomorrow, Kyle,
- 59:07Speaker 17: see tomorrow. And I think might have been the day
- 59:10Speaker 17: before Halloween because we had to go get the costume.
- 59:12Speaker 17: And so I got home, took my son to like
- 59:14Speaker 17: the Spirit Halloween store, get his costume, get to the
- 59:17Speaker 17: checkout line, get to the car, and Kyle calls me
- 59:20Speaker 17: back and he's like, Hey, we're going to trade you
- 59:23Speaker 17: back to New England, and I was like, what He's like, Yeah,
- 59:26Speaker 17: they offered to trade us Jimmy, and as part of
- 59:29Speaker 17: the deal, like they need a backup quarterback, so like,
- 59:33Speaker 17: you know, we're going to trade you back to New England.
- 59:35Speaker 17: And I just remember being in shock because you know,
- 59:38Speaker 17: I thought I'd seen it all at that point, but
- 59:39Speaker 17: I'd never been a part of a trade. And the
- 59:42Speaker 17: way it worked out, it wasn't like they agreed to
- 59:45Speaker 17: release me and I could sign here and because of
- 59:48Speaker 17: comp picks and things like that. But I remember having
- 59:50Speaker 17: to like go home and like break that to my
- 59:51Speaker 17: wife because we had moved, but we had never moved
- 59:54Speaker 17: in the middle of this season, and I was like,
- 59:56Speaker 17: all right, so I'm gonna have to go to New
- 59:58Speaker 17: England on Tuesday night. And then I remember it was
- 1:00:01Speaker 17: the bye week here, so I practiced, stayed an extra day,
- 1:00:04Speaker 17: met with Jerry Shaplinsky, who was the quarterback coach, met
- 1:00:06Speaker 17: with Josh a little bit, all the players went to
- 1:00:07Speaker 17: their you know, whatever they were doing for.
- 1:00:09Speaker 8: The bye week. I flew back to California.
- 1:00:12Speaker 17: We got the biggest suitcase I could because by the way,
- 1:00:14Speaker 17: Bill's like, hey, we're playing in Mexico City.
- 1:00:16Speaker 4: In two weeks.
- 1:00:17Speaker 8: So I hope you have a passport and did you?
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: Yeah? I did, And so.
- 1:00:21Speaker 17: I packed as much stuff as I could, took the
- 1:00:24Speaker 17: red Is on Saturday night, came home or came here Sunday,
- 1:00:27Speaker 17: landed Sunday morning, went and saw three different houses, picked one,
- 1:00:30Speaker 17: went to her to school, end up being the school
- 1:00:33Speaker 17: that my kids still go to this day. And you know,
- 1:00:36Speaker 17: it was a whirlwind, you know week. But that's I mean, look,
- 1:00:39Speaker 17: like I said, I know that we're privileged. This is
- 1:00:41Speaker 17: the NFL, so not comparing it to other people's situations,
- 1:00:44Speaker 17: but that was a week that took a huge toll
- 1:00:46Speaker 17: in my family and my wife and and you know,
- 1:00:49Speaker 17: I couldn't have done the career that I had without her.
- 1:00:52Speaker 8: And her support.
- 1:00:53Speaker 17: And thankfully we were you know, we met when we
- 1:00:55Speaker 17: were in high school, so we had a strong foundation
- 1:00:57Speaker 17: and and you know, but in a way it made
- 1:00:59Speaker 17: our kids, you know, kind of mature and deal. And
- 1:01:03Speaker 17: so my son, we went out to Vegas last year
- 1:01:05Speaker 17: and he goes to baseball practice with a bunch of kids.
- 1:01:07Speaker 17: If he doesn't know, and by the end they're all
- 1:01:09Speaker 17: laughing and he's he's immediately so he knows how to adapt,
- 1:01:11Speaker 17: and so there's positives and negatives.
- 1:01:14Speaker 8: To all all sides of it.
- 1:01:15Speaker 4: Did you get to trick or treat?
- 1:01:16Speaker 8: No?
- 1:01:17Speaker 17: No, Well, I remember being like waiting for the deal
- 1:01:20Speaker 17: to be worked out, and Bill calls me.
- 1:01:21Speaker 8: He's like, look, are are you gonna get here or what?
- 1:01:23Speaker 8: And I'm like, Bill, I'm just waiting for like the
- 1:01:25Speaker 8: airline ticket. I got a bag back in my car.
- 1:01:27Speaker 17: I was at the kids like Halloween party at school,
- 1:01:30Speaker 17: and I'm like, I'm just waiting for like the ticket.
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: That's all.
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: I'm not going to ask you the question about the
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: Eagles Super Bowl in seventeen.
- 1:01:40Speaker 8: We'll gloss over that not only anyone knows anyways.
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: Okay, so in twenty eighteen, obviously you're part of your
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: championship season for you. I want to go before that
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: to the Kansas City game, in the AFC Championship game
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: and just what it was like because for Matt and I,
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: you know, again, there's you know, that same thing of
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: us being around. Sure, we've both been around for all
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: of these super Bowls, so we've gotten a chance that
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: one stands out for us. That Kansas City AFC Championship
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: game was one of the greatest games that I've seen,
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: and I just want to know what it was like
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: from your perspective watching that overtime drive.
- 1:02:15Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean that. I think that's my favorite game
- 1:02:17Speaker 8: as a Patriot ever.
- 1:02:18Speaker 4: Love to hear that, because.
- 1:02:20Speaker 17: In a way, looking back, that really was the Super
- 1:02:23Speaker 17: Bowl in my in my opinion, I know, we had
- 1:02:26Speaker 17: to go the next week and beat the Rams, and
- 1:02:28Speaker 17: the defense played an incredible game, but to go into
- 1:02:30Speaker 17: Kansas City, it's like, you know, minus five degrees, no
- 1:02:34Speaker 17: one's given us a chance to win. And the effort
- 1:02:37Speaker 17: that everybody put in that week to that game to
- 1:02:41Speaker 17: then get, like you said, get to this overtime win,
- 1:02:43Speaker 17: I think, and you see it on our faces running
- 1:02:46Speaker 17: on the field. I think it was kind of a true,
- 1:02:48Speaker 17: like we're getting goosebumps talking about it, like a true
- 1:02:50Speaker 17: like us against the world moment. No one was there
- 1:02:53Speaker 17: to support us other than the guys on that sideline.
- 1:02:56Speaker 17: No one in the everyone in the stands, you know,
- 1:02:58Speaker 17: wanted us to lose. Really, everybody kind of wanted this
- 1:03:00Speaker 17: changing of the guard. Here's Mahomes, you know they're gonna
- 1:03:03Speaker 17: beat the Patriots, And it was kind of like against
- 1:03:06Speaker 17: all odds type thing, and so fittingly comes down to
- 1:03:09Speaker 17: this two minute drive where here's Tom and the famous
- 1:03:13Speaker 17: you know Julian quote, you're too old at his age,
- 1:03:16Speaker 17: and you know methodically drives us down and win with
- 1:03:20Speaker 17: a touchdown. I mean, it's to me, it was like
- 1:03:23Speaker 17: the ultimate team win. And when I always think of
- 1:03:27Speaker 17: my time with the Patriots, it was always the best
- 1:03:29Speaker 17: teams that I've been on. And I'm not just saying
- 1:03:30Speaker 17: because we were the most talented or had the best
- 1:03:33Speaker 17: coaching staff. I'm talking about the group of men that
- 1:03:35Speaker 17: were in the room, and we were so close knit
- 1:03:39Speaker 17: as a team. And like I said, I think you
- 1:03:41Speaker 17: see that when you see on the field and I
- 1:03:42Speaker 17: think it's I'm right behind Kyle van Noy and Tom's
- 1:03:45Speaker 17: jumping into Kyle's arms, and it was like it was
- 1:03:47Speaker 17: like this moment, like this is this is we have
- 1:03:50Speaker 17: to go win the next week because this game was
- 1:03:52Speaker 17: so important and so critical to that and the belief
- 1:03:57Speaker 17: that it gave.
- 1:03:58Speaker 8: I think everybody in that team.
- 1:04:00Speaker 16: Look fortunately for the rules and everything like that coin
- 1:04:03Speaker 16: toss you win, you know you're getting the ball as
- 1:04:07Speaker 16: you're sitting there and you're seeing you know, the personnel,
- 1:04:09Speaker 16: everything like that is there any doubt in your mind,
- 1:04:11Speaker 16: you guys are going down and scoring.
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: At that point in time, it.
- 1:04:14Speaker 17: Was kind of like a Remember, it was kind of
- 1:04:16Speaker 17: like a back and forth. You were just hoping you
- 1:04:18Speaker 17: got the ball. And I think at that point it
- 1:04:21Speaker 17: was like the thing that always I always looked back
- 1:04:24Speaker 17: was they I couldn't imagine. I couldn't believe that they
- 1:04:26Speaker 17: couldn't cover Julian because really we ran the same play
- 1:04:28Speaker 17: from both sides, and we had this little motion and
- 1:04:30Speaker 17: kind of and you were like when they when he
- 1:04:32Speaker 17: hit those two plays, You're like, man, we're in the
- 1:04:35Speaker 17: driver's seat. We just got to go and not make
- 1:04:36Speaker 17: any mistakes. And you know we had I think we
- 1:04:40Speaker 17: running with Rex.
- 1:04:41Speaker 8: Yeah a touchdown.
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: Yeah, so but three third and tens.
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: Right, and.
- 1:04:46Speaker 17: You know it was a play called China, and it
- 1:04:48Speaker 17: meant like a shoot and an inn, the ch for
- 1:04:51Speaker 17: shooting an inn and and I'm.
- 1:04:53Speaker 8: Like, all right, well it worked once.
- 1:04:55Speaker 17: And usually sometimes as a quarterback you kind of like
- 1:04:57Speaker 17: get to the point where like, all right, we just
- 1:04:59Speaker 17: ran that play like there's no way it's going to
- 1:05:01Speaker 17: work again. And you know that was just Tom basically,
- 1:05:04Speaker 17: you know, dropping back seeing the coverage and here comes Julian.
- 1:05:08Speaker 17: You know, several times I think, I don't know if
- 1:05:10Speaker 17: Hogan had a great catch on that drive, but he
- 1:05:13Speaker 17: had regulation was kind of a similar play. But clearly,
- 1:05:17Speaker 17: you know, this is the greatness of Tom and Josh
- 1:05:19Speaker 17: and all those guys working together.
- 1:05:20Speaker 8: They were having trouble cover.
- 1:05:22Speaker 17: In the middle of the field, and so just continue
- 1:05:25Speaker 17: to expose it until they fix it. And you know
- 1:05:27Speaker 17: they didn't fix it in time, and luckily for us,
- 1:05:29Speaker 17: you know, I was able to take us down and
- 1:05:31Speaker 17: win that game.
- 1:05:32Speaker 16: So Paul brings up and I think a lot of
- 1:05:35Speaker 16: Patriot fans would agree. Spoiled, Yes, first world problems.
- 1:05:40Speaker 4: What's the best game?
- 1:05:41Speaker 16: Interesting to hear that you say that, But you got
- 1:05:43Speaker 16: to go when you got to beat the Rams in Atlanta,
- 1:05:46Speaker 16: And I'm not sure that fans quite know the role
- 1:05:50Speaker 16: that you played that week and your experience with McVeigh
- 1:05:54Speaker 16: and that system. Talk a little bit about what how
- 1:05:58Speaker 16: you saw your role that week as getting ready to
- 1:06:00Speaker 16: play the Rams.
- 1:06:01Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, as a backup quarterback, you always prepare
- 1:06:03Speaker 8: to play. We talked about that earlier.
- 1:06:05Speaker 17: But the reality is, like, you know, Tom's healthy. I mean,
- 1:06:07Speaker 17: could something happen in the game, yes, but you know,
- 1:06:10Speaker 17: for me, I always think like, how can I you know.
- 1:06:12Speaker 8: Especially at this this.
- 1:06:14Speaker 17: You know, the last game of the year, the Super Bowl,
- 1:06:17Speaker 17: Like what am I going to do to contribute to
- 1:06:18Speaker 17: the team to help them win? And because I was
- 1:06:22Speaker 17: a veteran guy as a backup and had played in
- 1:06:24Speaker 17: a lot of places, I always had great conversations with
- 1:06:26Speaker 17: Devin and Jason and High Tower and Gilmore, and you know,
- 1:06:30Speaker 17: when I would we would play a team that maybe
- 1:06:32Speaker 17: was a system that I was in, and I'm running
- 1:06:34Speaker 17: the scout team, I'm like, hey, listen, this is how
- 1:06:35Speaker 17: they're teaching these quarterbacks.
- 1:06:37Speaker 8: This is what they're looking at. And I'll never forget.
- 1:06:39Speaker 17: Like get into the hotel in Atlanta, and you know,
- 1:06:42Speaker 17: you practice a week before you travel, and I'm like,
- 1:06:44Speaker 17: all right, some of these plays are similar to what
- 1:06:46Speaker 17: I ran with Kyle, who obviously influenced Sean. And I remember,
- 1:06:51Speaker 17: you know, being in the hotel room. I'm like, because
- 1:06:53Speaker 17: you have to have an off day, even though you're
- 1:06:55Speaker 17: traveling there for the super Bowl, it's an off day
- 1:06:56Speaker 17: and you know your family's not there yet, and so
- 1:06:58Speaker 17: you kind of hunker down in the hotel and I
- 1:07:01Speaker 17: saw a thing on like Yahoo. It's like here's and
- 1:07:04Speaker 17: it's like kind of they did like a hard Knock show,
- 1:07:06Speaker 17: but it was on Amazon. And here's like some clips
- 1:07:08Speaker 17: from the year that the Rams did, you know, miked
- 1:07:11Speaker 17: up and and I'm listening to like the play calls
- 1:07:14Speaker 17: that they have on these clips from training camp and
- 1:07:16Speaker 17: I'm like, well, I know that play.
- 1:07:18Speaker 8: I've run that play before.
- 1:07:19Speaker 17: And as the week went on, I kept watching more
- 1:07:22Speaker 17: and more of their film and being like, I know
- 1:07:24Speaker 17: the offense that they're going to run, and having meetings
- 1:07:26Speaker 17: with Bill and Map and was Matt still there or was.
- 1:07:29Speaker 8: It flow flow Yeah, And and.
- 1:07:31Speaker 17: Being like listen, I know, you know they don't really
- 1:07:33Speaker 17: have an answer for this. They don't really have you know,
- 1:07:35Speaker 17: if you bring this pressure, you know, they have to
- 1:07:38Speaker 17: throw hot things like that, and you know, so I
- 1:07:41Speaker 17: took a lot of pride in that. And one of
- 1:07:43Speaker 17: the like my prodest moments was after the Super Bowl
- 1:07:45Speaker 17: Devin and Jason kind of talking that to the media
- 1:07:47Speaker 17: and being like we were on it. We we had
- 1:07:49Speaker 17: a great feeling because Brian gave us a great look.
- 1:07:51Speaker 17: He sat there and talked about, you know, their their
- 1:07:54Speaker 17: offensive system and you know that was a way for
- 1:07:56Speaker 17: me to feel like I actually contributed in some way
- 1:07:58Speaker 17: because I never stepped on the field. But you know,
- 1:08:01Speaker 17: you got to do whatever you can to help the
- 1:08:03Speaker 17: team win. So you know, something that I was proud
- 1:08:06Speaker 17: of and fortunate of having been in those systems. I
- 1:08:08Speaker 17: could relate that.
- 1:08:09Speaker 8: To those guys.
- 1:08:13Speaker 18: When someone accidentally threw away the school play costumes, oh no,
- 1:08:18Speaker 18: replacements were shipped with FedEx and with picture proof of delivery,
- 1:08:21Speaker 18: everyone could focus on the perfect opening night FedEx. Where
- 1:08:25Speaker 18: now it's next for residential delivery.
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: Only and now great moments in history.
- 1:08:35Speaker 4: I have to be honest.
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: He thoroughly confuses me almost every time he calls, like
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: what what on the on the Monday?
- 1:08:41Speaker 4: What like what Monday? Yesterday? Maybe a week for money
- 1:08:45Speaker 4: that there's no official practice scheduled, but there might be
- 1:08:48Speaker 4: a secret practice of some sort that we would.
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: We will be live during the two Panthers Tuesday and
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: wednes Tuesday and Wednesday, right like we always I mean
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: since we started doing the joint practices, we've always right
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: done live during the joint practices.
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: Yep, right, yep. I don't know.
- 1:09:06Speaker 4: It might be a me thing any any camp that
- 1:09:09Speaker 4: we practice we go to we'll have a camp cast
- 1:09:11Speaker 4: rap at very at.
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: The very least, Paul gets very defensive when anyone asked him,
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: are you going to be doing any work? It's very defensive, Well.
- 1:09:19Speaker 4: We do lots of work, Like are you going to
- 1:09:20Speaker 4: continue the camp cast? Is like, you know, no, we
- 1:09:25Speaker 4: just had this year.
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: We're gonna only only half a camp we're gonna do.
- 1:09:28Speaker 4: We're not going to do the he knows, he knows
- 1:09:31Speaker 4: we got him.
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: That's another great moment from all right back here and
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: Patriot's Unfiltered. It's Matist, Deuce and Me, Matt and Nabooth,
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: new studio. Not one hundred percent yet. We're still waiting
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: for the furniture coming the end of the week. We'll
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: have some tweaks to the monitors behind us and a
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: few other things. But you're getting a sense of what
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: Patriots and Filter is gonna look like this year.
- 1:09:54Speaker 4: Sixteen footballs.
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: I think that's why we get the football's over there
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: pretty nice. Yep. So very excited about the new setup.
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: Very comfortable.
- 1:10:02Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, But I think the cool thing about it
- 1:10:04Speaker 4: is that it's going to change a little bit.
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: For Yeah, we'll we'll have different sets for different shows,
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: so it's very flexible.
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: Yeah, but we're talking about camp. As you saw in
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: the in the intro to the second half of the show,
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: camp schedules already come out. So if you're thinking about
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: coming down to Jillette to go to training camp, at
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: least the first four days or out there.
- 1:10:26Speaker 6: Yeah, July twenty fourth, which is Wednesday, Thursday, July twenty fifth,
- 1:10:30Speaker 6: and Friday, July twenty sixth for the first three sessions.
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: Yeah, and we'll be live. We'll be doing this show
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: live for each of those practices. I think the practice
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: is going to be around eleven.
- 1:10:40Speaker 6: Yeah, morning, gates at ten, I think, right, a little
- 1:10:42Speaker 6: later later than usually eight to ten. No, no, no, gates
- 1:10:45Speaker 6: open it till the gates gates practice starts eleven.
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: I thought you said eight no, no, no gates.
- 1:10:51Speaker 4: Yeah, gates your block, bring a hat, Yeah, you might
- 1:10:54Speaker 4: even umbrella. It is hot there, but otherwise it's amazing.
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: Yeah, so excited tomorrow. So they only published three days.
- 1:11:02Speaker 6: No, no, those are just the first three days. All
- 1:11:04Speaker 6: of them are up, so okay they want to go
- 1:11:05Speaker 6: through all of them. Yeah sure, yeah, we got things
- 1:11:08Speaker 6: are subject to change, y copy to change. So then
- 1:11:12Speaker 6: the next session is Sunday, July twenty eighth, Monday July
- 1:11:16Speaker 6: twenty ninth, Tuesday July thirtieth. Then we got Thursday, August first,
- 1:11:21Speaker 6: Friday August second, then we got Metallica if you want
- 1:11:24Speaker 6: come check that out, Saturday August third, and then Monday
- 1:11:28Speaker 6: August fifth, Tuesday August sixth, Patriots versus Panthers preseason August eighth,
- 1:11:35Speaker 6: and then Monday August twelfth, and joint practice August thirteenth.
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: We okay, we'll stop that. So the joint practice is
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: the thirteenth with the Eagles two days after. Yeah, if
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: there's one that you really want to see, that's the one, right.
- 1:11:47Speaker 4: It's a good one. I mean, it's it'll be competitive.
- 1:11:50Speaker 4: I mean, so much fun to watch. I was trying
- 1:11:51Speaker 4: to remember all the different joint practices we've done, but
- 1:11:54Speaker 4: those are the highlight of the of the preseason for sure,
- 1:11:56Speaker 4: especially with a team like Philly. We did see a
- 1:11:59Speaker 4: few years what was that twenty two, I guess, so.
- 1:12:01Speaker 6: I'm a few years ago. Played them the opener last year,
- 1:12:03Speaker 6: which is pretty close.
- 1:12:04Speaker 4: Game familiar with those guys. But yeah, it's hard to
- 1:12:07Speaker 4: believe it's camp's already here and all these like you know,
- 1:12:10Speaker 4: it's like you're spinning your wheels and it's like, you know,
- 1:12:12Speaker 4: you get like these points it's like, oh, man, I
- 1:12:14Speaker 4: can't wait for the camp and like as soon as
- 1:12:15Speaker 4: camp starts, we're gonna be like I can't wait.
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: For getting it. I know, I know, you know, I'm
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: I'm excited about the season two. But man, life goes
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: too fast, it does, it really does. I think the
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: older you get, the faster it goes. I think when
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: you're a kid, like you think about people that are thirty,
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: it's like I'll never be thirty, you know, like you
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: can't even imagine that far into the future. And now
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: it's like do you know what samore?
- 1:12:37Speaker 4: When you go by so fast, you notice that when
- 1:12:39Speaker 4: you see other people and you're like, geez, he looks old.
- 1:12:41Speaker 4: And then you're like, I look older too. But like
- 1:12:44Speaker 4: I always when you see people your age and you
- 1:12:46Speaker 4: haven't seen them in a while, and then you're like.
- 1:12:48Speaker 6: Oh my god, well I told I turned thirty one
- 1:12:50Speaker 6: on Friday, and Chris Chrisopher upstairs, like I think he
- 1:12:53Speaker 6: turned thirty. I was like I did a year ago.
- 1:12:55Speaker 6: It feels like yesterday.
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: Thirty was too fast. Like when you're a kid, you
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: kind of live in every moment. You live for the moment,
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: and when you're an adult, you're living for like your
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: next paycheck or like we you know our schedule and
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: you know training camp. You're never living in the moment.
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: That makes things go too fast.
- 1:13:17Speaker 4: Yeah, it does. I had a moment with my dad.
- 1:13:20Speaker 4: We were just we were watching some of the Actually
- 1:13:22Speaker 4: I showed him the Patriots all Access that they did
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: from Brady Night to sum it up, and it was
- 1:13:27Speaker 4: just sitting there and I was like, just like that,
- 1:13:29Speaker 4: it's over. It was like Tom Brady man, this young
- 1:13:31Speaker 4: kid and twenty years and it's like boom boom all
- 1:13:34Speaker 4: and here we are watching him going to the Hall
- 1:13:36Speaker 4: of Fame, Like it just feels like yesterday that I
- 1:13:38Speaker 4: don't know this kid Brady, I don't know, but Bledsoe's
- 1:13:40Speaker 4: getting his job, Like it feels like that was yesterday.
- 1:13:43Speaker 4: And I mean you were here for I mean, I
- 1:13:45Speaker 4: can't even imagine what it was like to watch it
- 1:13:47Speaker 4: go by live in front of your I mean, you know,
- 1:13:49Speaker 4: granted we watching it on TV, but you know, to
- 1:13:51Speaker 4: be so immersed in it like you were a Fred.
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: Like every day I have to figure out how to
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: experience the metaverse so that we can experience all the
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: different versions of our life life at the same time.
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: And you know, it was pretty cool.
- 1:14:03Speaker 4: Fred, I mean you like, I mean I sudly about this,
- 1:14:04Speaker 4: dude like you and Paulick. This is one of the
- 1:14:06Speaker 4: greatest runs in sports history. Oh, you guys were in
- 1:14:10Speaker 4: the thick of it. Like if you wanted to work
- 1:14:13Speaker 4: in sports when you were a kid, like you couldn't
- 1:14:15Speaker 4: have gotten a better draw, like to get to fall out.
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: I've been to ten Super Bowls because I went to
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: ninety six as well, but in that span to have
- 1:14:23Speaker 2: gone to nine super Bowls, can you imagine if you
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: were like.
- 1:14:26Speaker 6: Covering the Jets in this time and also just seeing
- 1:14:28Speaker 6: how big the Super Bowl's gotten since the first. It's
- 1:14:32Speaker 6: always been big, but it's completely different now.
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: Nine super Bowls, all those AFC championships.
- 1:14:37Speaker 4: You would have been on like the crappiest team in
- 1:14:39Speaker 4: the world last twenty years and be like, man, this
- 1:14:41Speaker 4: is suck. Stuck with training camp, you think, don't make
- 1:14:46Speaker 4: the playoffs. Now no playoffs this year, that's for sure.
- 1:14:49Speaker 6: The thread of the brown just has the quarterback jersey right.
- 1:14:55Speaker 4: And like having to like maybe to put it through
- 1:14:57Speaker 4: the lens of your job, Like every year you're trying
- 1:14:59Speaker 4: to get like a new quarterback hype, like all right,
- 1:15:01Speaker 4: this right's Baker Mayfield this year.
- 1:15:06Speaker 6: Get it's like we're both going on season five now
- 1:15:10Speaker 6: like we had six. You had the Brady training camp.
- 1:15:13Speaker 6: Then my first training camp was the COVID training camp.
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: Then you get back and they're.
- 1:15:17Speaker 6: Not allowed to sign autograph, so it's not really the
- 1:15:19Speaker 6: same training camp you got mad. There's just so much
- 1:15:21Speaker 6: stuff has happened even just such a short period of time.
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: Right right, every whole season was different, had a different
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: reason why it sucked.
- 1:15:31Speaker 4: But it must seem funny like now, like things that
- 1:15:33Speaker 4: you complained about along the way when it's like, oh yeah, man,
- 1:15:37Speaker 4: you could have been covering the Browns like oh, they're
- 1:15:41Speaker 4: not gonna fly. We gotta we gotta fly right.
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: To the super.
- 1:15:46Speaker 6: I'll think about like the Jets the past couple of years,
- 1:15:48Speaker 6: Like their training camp was at some Sunni school in.
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: Upstate New York.
- 1:15:52Speaker 6: So I mean, like the content team just gets in
- 1:15:54Speaker 6: the dorms.
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: With them, Like I just.
- 1:15:58Speaker 4: They're lucky to get the dorms. You guys are in
- 1:16:01Speaker 4: the hojos down the street.
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: Just off topic a little bit.
- 1:16:06Speaker 8: Uh.
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: I know Matt Morell doesn't like Acolyte. I think it's
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: been pretty good. I started it yet, all right, it's good.
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: I heard good things.
- 1:16:14Speaker 4: I got him. Hold on there, I go first. You
- 1:16:17Speaker 4: want me to go first? Man, you go first, and.
- 1:16:20Speaker 15: Make sure you guys can hear me, hear you. I
- 1:16:23Speaker 15: like the lightsaber fights, I'll.
- 1:16:24Speaker 4: Give you that.
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: No, but I think the storyline is getting pretty good,
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: don't you. I'm up to like episode five or six.
- 1:16:30Speaker 15: I'm only four episodes in.
- 1:16:32Speaker 4: Yeah, that's the fighting.
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: I know you didn't like the lesbian witch coven. What
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: else is using the force? The Witch Coven, that's what
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: they are.
- 1:16:41Speaker 6: You know, like, I haven't watched my head but a lightsaber.
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: Yeah, that's awesome.
- 1:16:45Speaker 8: I think that stuff's really cool.
- 1:16:46Speaker 4: That stuff is cool. And then anytime you're gonna kill
- 1:16:49Speaker 4: like a teenager in the middle of the show, it's.
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: Like, all right, yeah, I'm I'm digging it. And the
- 1:16:54Speaker 2: boys the boy outrage outraging, out right now outrageous. I
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: gotta get back in that episode two, You're.
- 1:17:02Speaker 6: Like, wow, I just watched the last episode my girlfriend scene,
- 1:17:06Speaker 6: what are you watching, like, literally, what, what the heck?
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: Is this?
- 1:17:09Speaker 10: Just?
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: Uh more or less? Yeah? So those are the two
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: things that I'm watching regularly now.
- 1:17:17Speaker 4: Watch Hacks so much Hacks. I gotta throw my Hacks.
- 1:17:19Speaker 4: And I haven't watched I have.
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: Not watched Hacks. I don't even know what it is.
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: You watch the new Beverly.
- 1:17:23Speaker 4: Hills Smart It's a movie, right, I did watch that.
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: I watch I watched the original one.
- 1:17:27Speaker 4: Okay, what I love? Do you watch the new one?
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: I need to watch the So what I love about
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: the new one.
- 1:17:31Speaker 4: Is like they literally just took all the music. They
- 1:17:34Speaker 4: just the same music. And I'm like, that's brilliant you
- 1:17:37Speaker 4: got you got all the same music. It's obviously the
- 1:17:39Speaker 4: same setting. And it's a little detective show. Like it's great,
- 1:17:43Speaker 4: and I'm like, Hills copy.
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 1:17:48Speaker 4: I mean, is it hilarious?
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: Right? But it's you want to be entertained to watch it?
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: We watched it. Okay, did anyone see Biker Boys the
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: Bike Riders? That what it's called. I haven't seen Austin Hooper.
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: Huh yeah, I want to looked intriguing to me.
- 1:18:07Speaker 6: I think I'm next for Twisters. That's gonna be the
- 1:18:10Speaker 6: next Did you not.
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: Like the original Twisters? No, not necessarily killing twister a twister?
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: Sorry Twister.
- 1:18:18Speaker 4: Helen Hunt is Helen Hunt back? Did they get Helen Hunt?
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: Helen Hunt, Helen Hunt, Kevin Bacon, Yeah, or no.
- 1:18:26Speaker 4: Hudson, sorry Hudson.
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: All right. You just just wanted to see what everyone's
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: watching these days.
- 1:18:31Speaker 4: I know, I feel like I finally have had a
- 1:18:33Speaker 4: chance during vacation to watch a little Wimbledon, watch a
- 1:18:36Speaker 4: little ketch up on some shows. Yeah, you know, and
- 1:18:38Speaker 4: then it's all going to go by the way side.
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: And forget it.
- 1:18:42Speaker 15: Lecellan Hunt is not in the.
- 1:18:43Speaker 4: Cast, big miss, big miss.
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: Her face will be in one of the Twisters.
- 1:18:50Speaker 6: It's not like her long lost son leading it. Like,
- 1:18:52Speaker 6: I think it's just a complete reboot, right, Yeah.
- 1:18:55Speaker 4: Well there's a glad Eater too.
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: I just saw that trailer looks and so it looks
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: like it's.
- 1:19:00Speaker 4: The kids from the Gladiator one. I think I.
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: Couldn't make it look like that.
- 1:19:04Speaker 6: Denzel looks awesome. It's gonna be dope.
- 1:19:06Speaker 15: I like it's like a three minute forty watch the movie.
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: Yeah, like you know it's gonna be fred Did you
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: see the.
- 1:19:18Speaker 6: F one trailer, the F one trailer, Brad Pitt, it's
- 1:19:22Speaker 6: he actually drives. Yes, it's being done by the guy
- 1:19:25Speaker 6: who did Top Gun Maverick and it's coming out next
- 1:19:27Speaker 6: summer and it's an F one thing. They filmed it
- 1:19:30Speaker 6: all like in the pit of Like it's all real stuff.
- 1:19:33Speaker 2: Like F one is like getting bigger than NASCAR. Now
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: I know it is worldwide, but in the United States
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: it's getting bigger. That movie is gonna be awesome. Yeah,
- 1:19:41Speaker 2: it's getting huge.
- 1:19:42Speaker 4: Like is that one the one through like city streets
- 1:19:44Speaker 4: in the europe Stadium.
- 1:19:48Speaker 2: They did it in Vegas?
- 1:19:49Speaker 4: Okay, I hope they do.
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: I hope they do Vegas. I hope they do it
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: in Boston.
- 1:19:53Speaker 6: So they pave the roads like, oh my.
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: God, going down the northf.
- 1:20:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:20:02Speaker 6: But yeah, watch the F one trailer after the show.
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: Okay, all right, I'll let's get back to the phones.
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: Eight five to five, Pats five hundred is the ACE
- 1:20:09Speaker 2: ticket outline? Fidel's in Tampa. What's up, Fidel? Thanks for
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: holding on.
- 1:20:14Speaker 10: Hey, how are you guys doing?
- 1:20:15Speaker 2: We're doing good.
- 1:20:18Speaker 8: Good.
- 1:20:18Speaker 10: I have two quick things. I hate said serious back
- 1:20:20Speaker 10: to football, but uh, the NFL's lawsuit came to an
- 1:20:27Speaker 10: end about the biggest package.
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: Yes, yep, I think that happened last week I talked about.
- 1:20:33Speaker 10: But I wanted to know, like, what do you think
- 1:20:37Speaker 10: is going to happen? Is that's going to be?
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: Like I think it's gonna be years, years of appeal
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: of appeals. And I don't think that each team is
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: going to have to pay four hundred and seventy seven
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: million dollars.
- 1:20:50Speaker 4: Oh really, because every day'd have to point it up.
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I can't see that happening. The league has been
- 1:20:55Speaker 2: very strong saying that it was a ridiculous finding. Take
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: that for what it's worth. I just don't think that
- 1:21:03Speaker 2: that settlement's gonna hold. There might be something else that
- 1:21:06Speaker 2: gets settled, but this is gonna be years down the road.
- 1:21:09Speaker 2: There's gonna be appeal after appeal after appeal.
- 1:21:12Speaker 6: Wasn't every person's gonna get four thousand dollars or something?
- 1:21:15Speaker 4: I want some money because this was me when I
- 1:21:17Speaker 4: was in LA. But I get you got to buy
- 1:21:18Speaker 4: the whole Sunday ticket. You couldn't just get Patriots games.
- 1:21:21Speaker 4: You had to buy the whole shebangs a lot.
- 1:21:22Speaker 6: I think I think it's each person gets four thousand,
- 1:21:25Speaker 6: So I.
- 1:21:26Speaker 4: Don't know how I can get four thousand if I
- 1:21:27Speaker 4: only paid like three hundred, but.
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: I would have I would have I would have done more.
- 1:21:32Speaker 4: I'll take four thousand.
- 1:21:33Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know. It's it's defining like
- 1:21:38Speaker 2: four point seven billion or something like that. That's kind
- 1:21:40Speaker 2: of a ridiculous amount. Yeah, now what do you think, uh, Fidel.
- 1:21:46Speaker 10: Well, I was more interested like the aspect of new
- 1:21:49Speaker 10: rules and new players, like they would like lower the
- 1:21:52Speaker 10: costs or be follows to the team. Like if I
- 1:21:55Speaker 10: could just pay one hundred bucks and be able to
- 1:21:57Speaker 10: watch the Patriots games, I would do it in a heart.
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: Beat, right Yeah, And like I'm not even I'm not
- 1:22:05Speaker 2: I'm not up on the case. But what are they
- 1:22:07Speaker 2: saying that the league did wrong?
- 1:22:10Speaker 4: I think basically that you should be.
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: Able to get what.
- 1:22:16Speaker 10: Anti trust laws, anti having a monopoly or something specific.
- 1:22:20Speaker 4: Okay, well, I think it was just basically related to
- 1:22:23Speaker 4: having to buy every team's game. So it was all
- 1:22:26Speaker 4: you had to buy the whole package. You couldn't just
- 1:22:28Speaker 4: buy your team. That's all I know.
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: Yeah, but that to me, that was something extra that
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: they were offering in your home market. You can still
- 1:22:35Speaker 2: watch in your home market, you can still watch every
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: one of your team's games. Yep. That's I think historically
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: how they've gotten around the anti trust rules is that
- 1:22:45Speaker 2: they've always had in your market free TV for your
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: your team's games, and that never stopped. So I'm just
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: you know, like like Sunday ticket was like a bonus thing. Okay.
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: In addition to that, if you want to pay, you
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: can get all the games. Yeah.
- 1:23:00Speaker 5: You know they're saying that they broke anti trust right,
- 1:23:04Speaker 5: thank you.
- 1:23:05Speaker 15: Broke anti trust laws.
- 1:23:08Speaker 5: Sorry one second, got that because they inflated price and
- 1:23:11Speaker 5: subscribers say that the league restricted competition by offering Sunday
- 1:23:15Speaker 5: ticket on satellite only.
- 1:23:17Speaker 4: Okay, well I literally I got direct TV just to
- 1:23:21Speaker 4: get the Sunday ticket, like and put the satellite dish
- 1:23:25Speaker 4: up and everything.
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: Yeah, you're moving on.
- 1:23:27Speaker 4: I'm a fan.
- 1:23:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:23:29Speaker 10: And then one last thing. I love Matt editing all
- 1:23:33Speaker 10: these new intros. Please get some of the retro ones
- 1:23:36Speaker 10: in the ones that I missed the most were the
- 1:23:41Speaker 10: ones that Paul telling the story about brother getting punched
- 1:23:44Speaker 10: from the shower so much. I don't think I've heard
- 1:23:48Speaker 10: that only like two years.
- 1:23:50Speaker 2: He's making a note right now, his brother got punched
- 1:23:52Speaker 2: in his father. Yeah, it's a great story. His father
- 1:23:56Speaker 2: came in and was yelling at Paul. It was had
- 1:23:58Speaker 2: to do with alcohol, and his brother was taking a
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: shower and like he said something snarky, you know, and
- 1:24:05Speaker 2: his father, right through the shower curtain, knocked them out
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: in the shower. He said, my brother's lying nude in
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: the shower, just Peter Griffin Lane. Yeah.
- 1:24:15Speaker 4: So, oh man, that's a pall story for sure.
- 1:24:18Speaker 2: I love all right, thanks for job.
- 1:24:20Speaker 6: I think my dream NFL view and experience would be
- 1:24:23Speaker 6: Red Zone. But you're able to pin your game in
- 1:24:26Speaker 6: the corner because especially when the Pats were like in
- 1:24:29Speaker 6: their heyday on red Zone, they're never on the TV
- 1:24:32Speaker 6: because you're beating the Titans fifty nine to zero. So
- 1:24:34Speaker 6: I'm always watching the game, but as a Pats fan,
- 1:24:36Speaker 6: I want to be able to always be able to
- 1:24:37Speaker 6: check in. I know this will never happen, but if
- 1:24:39Speaker 6: you could pin your game and just have Scott Hansen
- 1:24:41Speaker 6: through the rest of the Red Zone in the background,
- 1:24:43Speaker 6: it'll be unbelievable.
- 1:24:43Speaker 4: We kind of talked in the past, fread You've mentioned
- 1:24:45Speaker 4: it of like why couldn't you just have like a
- 1:24:47Speaker 4: subscription to your team's package, and it's not just your
- 1:24:49Speaker 4: team's games, but it's all your team's content, and you
- 1:24:52Speaker 4: have access to any NFL films, thing ever made about
- 1:24:55Speaker 4: your team, and you know, like it's almost like you're
- 1:24:56Speaker 4: in a little bit of a club kind of thing
- 1:24:58Speaker 4: and I kind of tailor it to you. Yeah, I
- 1:25:00Speaker 4: don't know. I mean I get I get where the
- 1:25:02Speaker 4: fans are coming from that just want to see their team.
- 1:25:04Speaker 4: But at the same time, it's like the NFL, it's
- 1:25:06Speaker 4: this giant thing and.
- 1:25:07Speaker 6: It's it's funny being on the website because you get
- 1:25:11Speaker 6: the people in western mass who are in Massachusetts, but
- 1:25:13Speaker 6: then they're getting Jets games because they're like right on
- 1:25:16Speaker 6: the border.
- 1:25:17Speaker 4: Like the Giants. Yeah, Connecticut, let me forget about it. Yeah,
- 1:25:21Speaker 4: Giants fans.
- 1:25:23Speaker 2: I mean, there's a lot of rules in the NFL
- 1:25:25Speaker 2: that are a little antiquated, and some of them were
- 1:25:27Speaker 2: made when you know, it was more important to sell
- 1:25:30Speaker 2: out your stadium than it was to have a huge
- 1:25:33Speaker 2: TV audience. Yeah, And a lot of the rules were
- 1:25:36Speaker 2: to protect the home market. You know, for like there
- 1:25:39Speaker 2: were days in New England where or in Massachusetts where
- 1:25:43Speaker 2: you had to go to New Hampshire to watch the
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: Patriots because of the blackout rule, which they don't have anymore.
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: But if you're if you're if your stadium wasn't sold
- 1:25:51Speaker 2: out like I think within forty eight hours of the game,
- 1:25:54Speaker 2: you couldn't show it on TV. So people would literally
- 1:25:58Speaker 2: drive up to New Hampshire rent a motel room to
- 1:26:01Speaker 2: watch the.
- 1:26:01Speaker 4: Patriots instead of buying a ticket and going to the Yeah.
- 1:26:07Speaker 2: I'm not going to that dump. Yeah, but that was
- 1:26:10Speaker 2: the thing they're trying to force people to buy tickets. Now,
- 1:26:13Speaker 2: your your ticket revenue is just gravy. You make your
- 1:26:17Speaker 2: money on everything else, you know, So a lot of
- 1:26:20Speaker 2: some of the rules need to be changed, you know.
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: Let's see web radio at patries dot com. Is the
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: email address Alex in North Carolina. I'm with Matt on this.
- 1:26:31Speaker 2: Lightsaber Fights were great. Acting as subparties talk about the
- 1:26:34Speaker 2: Acolyte story is average. I have much higher hopes for
- 1:26:38Speaker 2: the show. It's it's fine.
- 1:26:41Speaker 4: It's it's fine.
- 1:26:41Speaker 2: Is it adult based like I know and or was?
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: It's a little bit more. I think that's what's weird.
- 1:26:46Speaker 4: I think is that it in the initial episodes, it
- 1:26:49Speaker 4: feels a little bit more kid Disney and then all
- 1:26:52Speaker 4: of a sudden they have this giant fight and like
- 1:26:54Speaker 4: two main characters.
- 1:26:55Speaker 15: It's like a CW show. That's exactly how it is.
- 1:26:58Speaker 15: It's a teenage show. It's more for like eighteen to
- 1:27:01Speaker 15: twenty year olds.
- 1:27:02Speaker 2: Yeah maybe maybe. Yeah.
- 1:27:03Speaker 6: The last Star Wars thing that stands out to me
- 1:27:06Speaker 6: was I think it was the Obi wan Lea running away.
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: Yeah, the chase terrible. Oh that was that was awful.
- 1:27:13Speaker 2: I mean, come on, you get Disney. You can't make
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: that look more real. You know, she's like ducking on
- 1:27:19Speaker 2: the branches and they're like a branch, you know. Yeah,
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: like that was that was terrible.
- 1:27:25Speaker 4: I think the Mandalorian is is the gold standard of
- 1:27:28Speaker 4: that in Rogue one of New Star.
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: Wars, and but I kind of like that. I kind
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: of like the whole backstory of Boba Fete. We were
- 1:27:36Speaker 2: brought up by the Tuscan Raiders and all that. I
- 1:27:39Speaker 2: thought that was pretty cool.
- 1:27:40Speaker 4: I thought that was okay. I thought that one was okay.
- 1:27:42Speaker 4: I felt a little bit like fan like over the
- 1:27:45Speaker 4: I like, I love fan service in select moments, like
- 1:27:48Speaker 4: I love in the beginning of Mandalorian where you heard
- 1:27:50Speaker 4: the very first episode you heard the carbon freezing chamber
- 1:27:53Speaker 4: from Empire Strikes Back, and like I was like, oh
- 1:27:56Speaker 4: my god, Like they know exactly what they're doing. Like
- 1:27:58Speaker 4: I like those subtle hints, but like if it's going
- 1:28:01Speaker 4: to be over the top and we're trying to connect
- 1:28:02Speaker 4: everything and you know, just to put stuff on for fans,
- 1:28:05Speaker 4: then I don't know. I don't But that's why this
- 1:28:07Speaker 4: new show, it's like it's all new, like it's there's
- 1:28:09Speaker 4: you know, it's we're way before all those times, and so.
- 1:28:11Speaker 2: So this is a hundred years before the first Star Wars.
- 1:28:16Speaker 4: You're getting to see a little bit of that stuff.
- 1:28:18Speaker 4: I don't know. I just I just wonder if and
- 1:28:19Speaker 4: I felt like this would happen once Disney took it
- 1:28:21Speaker 4: that it's just too much like the Star Wars was
- 1:28:24Speaker 4: good when it's a little bit you know, it's like
- 1:28:25Speaker 4: show after show after show, and they're not all going
- 1:28:27Speaker 4: to be magical and cool. I think this one has moments,
- 1:28:30Speaker 4: and but I watched there's a couple episodes.
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: I don't know, I thought it was pretty cool. Yeah,
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: I think I'm I'm you know, eager to see the
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: next episode. You know. Yeah, Ted's in Las Vegas. I
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: just watched Danny Parkins on Fox's The Herd. He was
- 1:28:45Speaker 2: filling in for Colin Coward. Uh Parkins, I guess it's.
- 1:28:49Speaker 2: Parkins gave his top ten quarterbacks he would start a
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: team with. Number ten was Trevor Lawrence, but Parkins said
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: Lawrence was a tough decision, and his first quarterback out
- 1:29:00Speaker 2: of his top ten where Anthony Richardson and Drake May. Wow,
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: so they were like eleven to twelve. Yeah, I guess.
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: So that's pretty crazy. That's that's really high because wasn't
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: there some where's he got Kayla Williams poll On, John Dingles,
- 1:29:13Speaker 2: the twitter that was going around that Drake May was
- 1:29:15Speaker 2: the worst quarterback in the NFL. Oh jesus. Yeah.
- 1:29:19Speaker 6: The Anthony Richardson one is interesting because how many games
- 1:29:21Speaker 6: you played, like three or four?
- 1:29:22Speaker 2: Yeah, they're pretty excited. Oh yeah, he's definitely the grass
- 1:29:26Speaker 2: is greener, you know, because he's so athletic, right people,
- 1:29:29Speaker 2: you know.
- 1:29:29Speaker 4: Well, that's the funny thing about like what's it going
- 1:29:30Speaker 4: to take to have positive things? Like I don't know,
- 1:29:32Speaker 4: maybe he plays like two great games and then it's
- 1:29:34Speaker 4: lost for the year and then you're like we got him,
- 1:29:35Speaker 4: like wet like you know, you don't know, like what
- 1:29:41Speaker 4: you don't know?
- 1:29:41Speaker 2: So he's amazing. The Colts might be like the you know,
- 1:29:45Speaker 2: the Cinderella of a lot of people.
- 1:29:48Speaker 6: The Cinderella potentially could have pulled a Texans, I know division,
- 1:29:52Speaker 6: but I was I remember being like, oh, we get
- 1:29:54Speaker 6: to watch Anthony Richardson in Germany and get Gardner minshew, yeah, yeah,
- 1:29:59Speaker 6: we'll get to see him.
- 1:30:00Speaker 2: They could be the sleeper. There's a scene like all these.
- 1:30:02Speaker 4: Guys though, it just goes back to there's a lot
- 1:30:04Speaker 4: of good young quarterbacks and I'm like, off the top
- 1:30:05Speaker 4: of my head trying to think of which teams right
- 1:30:08Speaker 4: now don't have a promising young quarterback. Like I mean,
- 1:30:11Speaker 4: they're obviously the Giants, the Giants, you know, like that.
- 1:30:15Speaker 6: Think about the Jets, you think about the Panthers. Like
- 1:30:17Speaker 6: with Bryce, like is he going to bounce back? Like
- 1:30:20Speaker 6: you forget about him?
- 1:30:21Speaker 4: There's a great one. That's a great one, like no
- 1:30:22Speaker 4: one's afraid of Carolina, but like he is the first
- 1:30:24Speaker 4: overall pick from last year. So I don't know, it's
- 1:30:27Speaker 4: just it's it's you said, maybe I'm just going back
- 1:30:30Speaker 4: to the days when it's like all right, if we're
- 1:30:32Speaker 4: not playing Philip Rivers, Peyton Manning or you know, like
- 1:30:35Speaker 4: one of those guys like I don't care like but
- 1:30:37Speaker 4: now it's like every single quarterback almost around the league,
- 1:30:40Speaker 4: except for a handful of teams, has some kind of promise.
- 1:30:43Speaker 4: I mean, you said Aaron Rodgers that he's definitely not young,
- 1:30:45Speaker 4: but like he's good.
- 1:30:47Speaker 2: But you know, I'm saying because it's not young, yeah.
- 1:30:49Speaker 4: You know, but and I don't want to say like
- 1:30:52Speaker 4: teams that they believe in their quarterback because I don't
- 1:30:53Speaker 4: know if these teams do believe in their quarterback. But
- 1:30:55Speaker 4: you know, it's like Atlanta, the Giants, Like there's just
- 1:30:58Speaker 4: a handful of teams that.
- 1:31:00Speaker 6: I mean, the only teams that don't scare are like
- 1:31:02Speaker 6: the Broncos and maybe the Raiders, a good one, like
- 1:31:04Speaker 6: the Raiders. Who's even is a minshew the Raiders.
- 1:31:07Speaker 4: That's well it would probably be the last year. O'Connor.
- 1:31:11Speaker 2: Yeah, O'Connell. Yeah, those those are two.
- 1:31:14Speaker 4: That's a good one.
- 1:31:14Speaker 2: But other than that, everybody's like.
- 1:31:17Speaker 4: Got somebody young that they're still waiting to find out
- 1:31:20Speaker 4: there you're going to be good or not. I mean,
- 1:31:22Speaker 4: Richardson is a great example of you know a guy
- 1:31:25Speaker 4: who seems like he could maybe change that dynamic in
- 1:31:28Speaker 4: the AFC South where everybody just seems like, after last year,
- 1:31:30Speaker 4: wants to hand it to Houston.
- 1:31:32Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:31:33Speaker 2: Uh, Dan and Virginia and Michigan studio looks good. Those
- 1:31:36Speaker 2: chairs look a bit too comfy, though. Where's the good
- 1:31:39Speaker 2: money in terms of betting which member of the podcast
- 1:31:42Speaker 2: falls asleep on air?
- 1:31:46Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 1:31:47Speaker 4: Maybe, I don't know.
- 1:31:48Speaker 2: Postgame show at a night game, man, you were good.
- 1:31:51Speaker 4: Well, we'll be in our other shares for that one,
- 1:31:53Speaker 4: that's true. It'll be like, well, there's only.
- 1:31:55Speaker 2: What like one night game, maybe the morning game for
- 1:31:59Speaker 2: the the preseason.
- 1:32:00Speaker 4: The preseason games are gonna be the hardest one. I
- 1:32:03Speaker 4: can't wait for that preseason game. That was so fun
- 1:32:04Speaker 4: last year when we came in like early morning for
- 1:32:07Speaker 4: the Germany game. We're kind of, you know, still jet lag,
- 1:32:10Speaker 4: a little out of it, but I mean it was
- 1:32:12Speaker 4: the best part of that game was the pregame.
- 1:32:14Speaker 2: Matt played the interview with Brian Hoyer during the PEU halftime.
- 1:32:17Speaker 2: They discussed the assist Hoyer gave the defense with his
- 1:32:20Speaker 2: experience with mcveigh's offenses given how thin the margin was
- 1:32:24Speaker 2: and how much the defense credited Hoyer's insights with helping
- 1:32:28Speaker 2: them win. Do you think the Patriots still win that
- 1:32:31Speaker 2: game without Hoyer? Maybe not? Which which game is? What
- 1:32:34Speaker 2: are we doing? I don't know, McVeigh.
- 1:32:38Speaker 4: So the Rams did the Hoyer help guide in here?
- 1:32:40Speaker 4: This part of it? I guess he got helped them
- 1:32:42Speaker 4: get ready for I don't know. I think the story
- 1:32:44Speaker 4: that that game was the defense and oh yeah the
- 1:32:47Speaker 4: Rams couldn't do anything. But I mean, I guess I
- 1:32:51Speaker 4: guess that feeds into it. It's the same thing with
- 1:32:53Speaker 4: what's uh, who's the guy that did Peyton Manning in
- 1:32:56Speaker 4: two thousand and three? Same thing? Everybody gave him a
- 1:32:58Speaker 4: ton of credit. One of the backup court, Damon Heward.
- 1:33:02Speaker 2: Yeah, he was actually a very smart quarterback.
- 1:33:06Speaker 6: What what do you think Hoyer's future is? Is he
- 1:33:09Speaker 6: still on a team or like?
- 1:33:11Speaker 2: No, No, he was.
- 1:33:12Speaker 4: On Good Morning Football a little bit.
- 1:33:13Speaker 2: I think you might see him around the team this preseason.
- 1:33:19Speaker 2: I don't want to give away anything.
- 1:33:20Speaker 6: But a player I didn't like on a team, But
- 1:33:22Speaker 6: I've grown to like him a little bit more. I
- 1:33:24Speaker 6: used to not be a fan of him, especially that
- 1:33:26Speaker 6: when he sliced.
- 1:33:26Speaker 2: Braid was it.
- 1:33:27Speaker 6: Hoyerheads Hoyer, he just we went we were one and
- 1:33:32Speaker 6: two rules with him, just like it was like he's
- 1:33:34Speaker 6: a bad luck chron But.
- 1:33:36Speaker 4: Hoyer had a good line that they picked up on
- 1:33:38Speaker 4: All Access right before they were waiting on the stage
- 1:33:41Speaker 4: to go on before Brady, and he's like, man, his
- 1:33:44Speaker 4: real Hall of Fame induction is going to be like
- 1:33:46Speaker 4: nothing compared. It's gonna be like a letdown compared to this.
- 1:33:49Speaker 2: I agree about that.
- 1:33:50Speaker 6: I just don't see it being as special.
- 1:33:53Speaker 2: Well, plus, it's not just him, Yeah, you know, feel
- 1:33:56Speaker 2: bad for people. I don't know. I guess I'm being
- 1:34:01Speaker 2: a little sacrilegious here, but I really find those canton
- 1:34:04Speaker 2: ceremonies boring, boring as hell. You know, Oh so and
- 1:34:09Speaker 2: so good up and he cried during his They all cry.
- 1:34:12Speaker 2: You know. It's the same speeches, it's the same message.
- 1:34:17Speaker 2: And it's great for them. Listen, I get it. It's
- 1:34:19Speaker 2: the highest individual honor in the NFL and all that,
- 1:34:23Speaker 2: and I'm happy for everyone that gets inducted, But as
- 1:34:26Speaker 2: a as a an event, I find it boring. I'm sorry,
- 1:34:29Speaker 2: have you have you been? No?
- 1:34:30Speaker 4: No, just watch on TV me too. I mean certain
- 1:34:34Speaker 4: players I like, I like to hear what they have
- 1:34:37Speaker 4: to say. I mean, I do think some of the
- 1:34:38Speaker 4: speeches are pretty good. But yeah, I mean, that'll do
- 1:34:41Speaker 4: a whole thing for that. I mean, I don't we
- 1:34:43Speaker 4: just kind of be there.
- 1:34:44Speaker 2: To observe and report, right, it's just not going to
- 1:34:46Speaker 2: be blow it out. We'll go and you know, there's
- 1:34:49Speaker 2: a party. You know, that's that's the thing. It's so
- 1:34:53Speaker 2: funny because nowadays you get inducted to the Hall of
- 1:34:56Speaker 2: Fame and you it's almost like you have to go
- 1:35:00Speaker 2: on a fundraising tour to fund your party afterwards. It's
- 1:35:04Speaker 2: like there's like a competition that like who can have
- 1:35:06Speaker 2: the best party after the after the the day. Let's
- 1:35:10Speaker 2: do it at Michael Rubin's house. Yeah.
- 1:35:12Speaker 4: Well, if Bill doesn't get another job, they could be
- 1:35:14Speaker 4: back to back years. You got could be big guys
- 1:35:17Speaker 4: going in.
- 1:35:17Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, we'll see what.
- 1:35:21Speaker 6: Will he be twenty eight Brady, it's.
- 1:35:25Speaker 2: Five years, five years, so this is one, No, this
- 1:35:27Speaker 2: is two, so three years from now seven seven? Yeah,
- 1:35:33Speaker 2: first ballot, right, Like, tell me in that room who's
- 1:35:37Speaker 2: not voting on the first ballot? I will punch him
- 1:35:39Speaker 2: in the head, you know, because that would be ridiculous. Man,
- 1:35:43Speaker 2: you and your principals on one last spiteful move from
- 1:35:46Speaker 2: good yeah.
- 1:35:47Speaker 4: Just Bill Pollyon have a vote?
- 1:35:48Speaker 2: Yea somebody something like that, you know or somebody from Indianapolis?
- 1:35:54Speaker 2: Was that guy? Is that Greg Doyle? Does he have
- 1:35:57Speaker 2: a vote? Well?
- 1:35:58Speaker 4: No, I mean he got nothing right now because he
- 1:35:59Speaker 4: had like some awkward interaction with Caitlyn Clark.
- 1:36:01Speaker 2: I guess right right, yeah, creep spiin Fresno. Tonality wise,
- 1:36:10Speaker 2: Evan's take on fruit is the most Eric thing about
- 1:36:13Speaker 2: him so far, although for Eric the specific aversion would
- 1:36:17Speaker 2: be to eating meat while watching football and having a girlfriend. Anyway,
- 1:36:22Speaker 2: I love Jacoby Myers as a patriot, and in retrospect
- 1:36:26Speaker 2: his excommunication to Vegas seems like another nail in the
- 1:36:29Speaker 2: coffin of Bill's GMing. But at the same time I
- 1:36:32Speaker 2: thought Juju would be a slight upgrade, maybe replacing a
- 1:36:35Speaker 2: three with a two. Boy? Was I wrong? Looking back?
- 1:36:39Speaker 2: If we were to sneak into Bill's mind, which of
- 1:36:41Speaker 2: the following reasons do you guess factored in most when
- 1:36:44Speaker 2: he foolishly sent Jacoby packing that Meyers sided with Mac
- 1:36:49Speaker 2: in the Mac versus Patricia conflict. The lateral to Chandler Jones,
- 1:36:54Speaker 2: Jacoby's lack of touchdown receptions or being an undrafted free agent.
- 1:36:58Speaker 2: I think number one. I think one. I think number one.
- 1:37:00Speaker 2: I think he wasn't he wasn't all in in the
- 1:37:03Speaker 2: locker room.
- 1:37:05Speaker 6: I think the Myers thing was interesting too, because he
- 1:37:08Speaker 6: was great for us, but the franchise tag for receiver
- 1:37:12Speaker 6: is so ridiculous. You're not going to pay Jacoby Myers?
- 1:37:15Speaker 6: Was it thirty three billion? Like, no, it's a lot
- 1:37:18Speaker 6: for one year.
- 1:37:19Speaker 4: No, that's not him, that's not him. I mean, I
- 1:37:21Speaker 4: do think. I mean, and I was right with speed,
- 1:37:24Speaker 4: same thing like Evan two, Like all three of us
- 1:37:26Speaker 4: were all just like terrible take. We were wrong to
- 1:37:29Speaker 4: ever think that Juju will replaced. But I mean the
- 1:37:32Speaker 4: thing I did say at the time, which I still
- 1:37:33Speaker 4: kind of think, is that I think he felt like
- 1:37:35Speaker 4: we need to get more explosive. And I know that's
- 1:37:38Speaker 4: a joke right now when you compare to Juju, but
- 1:37:40Speaker 4: I think that was probably some of the thinking too,
- 1:37:42Speaker 4: was that we're not going to overextend ourselves for you know,
- 1:37:45Speaker 4: a guy who's certainly reliable to Mac, but you know,
- 1:37:48Speaker 4: isn't a true game changer now, like I could have
- 1:37:51Speaker 4: a field day arguing against that now, but at the
- 1:37:54Speaker 4: time that was kind of my thinking.
- 1:37:55Speaker 6: My biggest disappointment is that that's an undrafted free agent
- 1:37:59Speaker 6: who bought in.
- 1:38:01Speaker 4: Yeah, that's three year deal.
- 1:38:05Speaker 6: He would have a three year I just how is
- 1:38:07Speaker 6: that not the guy that you want because of that?
- 1:38:10Speaker 2: Because of he went against Bill, and I think that's
- 1:38:13Speaker 2: probably one of the reasons Bill's not here. He spoke
- 1:38:15Speaker 2: out I want to boke out at least two times
- 1:38:18Speaker 2: that we know of, and if we know of two times,
- 1:38:21Speaker 2: probably there's more that we don't know about.
- 1:38:24Speaker 6: What's also crazy because that's you're going against Bill. But
- 1:38:25Speaker 6: like when he scored his first touchdown, when Hoyer through it,
- 1:38:28Speaker 6: the whole like he was clearly loved in locker room,
- 1:38:30Speaker 6: the whole team ran to him like yeah, So it's
- 1:38:32Speaker 6: just that's a frustrating thing to see.
- 1:38:34Speaker 4: Yeah, it is frustrating. And I mean Jacoby was a
- 1:38:36Speaker 4: great guy and I mean was again productive and the
- 1:38:38Speaker 4: Raiders with tomultuous season there.
- 1:38:40Speaker 2: Like a player. Yeah, completely different point.
- 1:38:43Speaker 4: Now, it's disappointing. I hear everything you say though about
- 1:38:45Speaker 4: the undrafted rookie who was there in the big moments
- 1:38:48Speaker 4: and you know all that stuff. It's just it's uh yeah,
- 1:38:50Speaker 4: it's unfortunate. I'd love to still have him here. But again, like,
- 1:38:53Speaker 4: do you think Pop Douglas might be the better player
- 1:38:54Speaker 4: than Jacoby Myers?
- 1:38:55Speaker 2: Like, they're very different. They're very different. I mean, you're
- 1:38:59Speaker 2: not going to get the dynamic plays that we hope
- 1:39:02Speaker 2: Pop Douglas is going to give us going forward. But
- 1:39:04Speaker 2: he was reliable Myers. Oh yeah, he was reliable.
- 1:39:07Speaker 4: I would never.
- 1:39:07Speaker 2: Flaw the break, but he was always there in the
- 1:39:09Speaker 2: middle of few. Yeah. Yeah, and think about it, like
- 1:39:13Speaker 2: they were easy to defend back then. But still he
- 1:39:15Speaker 2: got his catches my one of my favorite things.
- 1:39:17Speaker 6: But I think he said he wanted to come here
- 1:39:19Speaker 6: as an undrafted free agent because Nikhil Harry was a
- 1:39:21Speaker 6: first round pick and he wanted to prove that he
- 1:39:23Speaker 6: was just as good, if not better than the first round.
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:39:26Speaker 2: I like that. I like that swag. Love that. Yeah,
- 1:39:29Speaker 2: Alex in North Carolina, Deuce. I've also been watching more
- 1:39:33Speaker 2: tennis this tournament. Alcaraz is ridiculous and Taylor Tyler. Fritz
- 1:39:37Speaker 2: is finding his footing. He is big win against Verev.
- 1:39:41Speaker 2: I would love to hear Fretz take about our American
- 1:39:43Speaker 2: tennis stars on men's and women's side, How good do
- 1:39:46Speaker 2: you think they are? Well, we're not going to do
- 1:39:47Speaker 2: that here, but we can have a tennis show later on.
- 1:39:50Speaker 2: Did you watch Challengers?
- 1:39:51Speaker 8: No?
- 1:39:52Speaker 2: Well sometimes, but I think Djokovic also showed hist So
- 1:39:59Speaker 2: he's playing Runa. Uh his name is Runa, this kid,
- 1:40:04Speaker 2: right his last name? No, he's uh from He's Dutch
- 1:40:09Speaker 2: something like that. So you know, he's young, he's you know,
- 1:40:14Speaker 2: good looking, you know, so the fans are sharing for
- 1:40:17Speaker 2: him and they're going Runa, and Djokovic thought they were
- 1:40:20Speaker 2: booing him, you know when he starts, you know, he
- 1:40:22Speaker 2: said the whole thing after him, he's got the rabbit here,
- 1:40:25Speaker 2: so like during this he's like what what what? They
- 1:40:27Speaker 2: weren't booing him? So then afterwards, you know, he's doing
- 1:40:29Speaker 2: his on court interview and the guy's like, I hope
- 1:40:32Speaker 2: you understand that they were probably you know, Runic goes, no,
- 1:40:35Speaker 2: I don't accept that. I know when someone's booing they
- 1:40:37Speaker 2: were booing me, Like, no, they weren't.
- 1:40:40Speaker 4: And then he did like the violin thing, well that
- 1:40:42Speaker 4: was for.
- 1:40:42Speaker 2: His kid who was taking violin.
- 1:40:43Speaker 4: Lesson that thought he was like the smallest.
- 1:40:46Speaker 2: That was different. That was for his kid. But like
- 1:40:49Speaker 2: they were saying, runa like the good thing you weren't
- 1:40:54Speaker 2: playing Bruski because they would have, you know, like he
- 1:40:56Speaker 2: thought they were booing him. And he's such he's got
- 1:40:58Speaker 2: such thin skin. The reason why people don't get behind
- 1:41:01Speaker 2: him is because he asked for people to get behind Like,
- 1:41:04Speaker 2: you can't do that. It's got to be natural, Like,
- 1:41:07Speaker 2: you can't. You can't complain when people don't applaud for
- 1:41:12Speaker 2: you more than your opponent. That's the worst thing you
- 1:41:14Speaker 2: can do. Now they're you know, it's like begging for
- 1:41:18Speaker 2: you know, uh, you know, please applause, yeah, please clap please.
- 1:41:24Speaker 2: So that was bad, like something like I don't want
- 1:41:27Speaker 2: to go like people be like Frank, stop talking about tennis.
- 1:41:30Speaker 2: All right, I will, but we'll do it at some
- 1:41:32Speaker 2: other point. But he has a football question, does Alex
- 1:41:35Speaker 2: uh If Bill was still here, do you think he
- 1:41:38Speaker 2: would have drafted Drake May at three or would he
- 1:41:41Speaker 2: have taken a different position Altogether? I'm torn as to
- 1:41:44Speaker 2: what he would have done, But I do wonder if
- 1:41:46Speaker 2: this is a quarterback he would have chose.
- 1:41:49Speaker 4: I would I would lean no, I would lean no,
- 1:41:51Speaker 4: and I I mean, I think I think a trade down.
- 1:41:54Speaker 4: I think he would really be intrigued by Joe al
- 1:41:56Speaker 4: I think like a player like that, like.
- 1:41:59Speaker 8: Player.
- 1:42:00Speaker 2: Let's let's go back a little bit to the end
- 1:42:02Speaker 2: of the season. They finished the same way they finished,
- 1:42:06Speaker 2: but somehow, some way, they've got that post season meeting
- 1:42:10Speaker 2: and Bill talks Robert Craft to say, here's the reasons
- 1:42:14Speaker 2: why things happen. Blah blah blah, let's take another run
- 1:42:17Speaker 2: at this, and he talks Robert Craft into doing it. Okay,
- 1:42:20Speaker 2: so now that's your setting keeping Mac. No, no, no,
- 1:42:25Speaker 2: we don't know that yet, just to keep Bill. So
- 1:42:29Speaker 2: Robert's been talked into keeping Bill. So now the off
- 1:42:33Speaker 2: season goes as it has. You know, you got the
- 1:42:35Speaker 2: same pick. Obviously. Does Bill look at this any differently?
- 1:42:40Speaker 2: And does he say, you know what I'm gonna We're
- 1:42:44Speaker 2: done with Mac? You know, you think he would.
- 1:42:47Speaker 4: I think he was telling with Mac. I think you would.
- 1:42:48Speaker 4: I think Kirk Cousins, I.
- 1:42:50Speaker 2: Think, so, you think he's done with Mac. But he
- 1:42:52Speaker 2: wouldn't have picked Drake. May I think he would have.
- 1:42:57Speaker 2: Oh that's a good one.
- 1:42:59Speaker 10: I liked.
- 1:43:00Speaker 4: I think the JJ is not a bad idea either.
- 1:43:02Speaker 4: I mean, I could you know, I think he'd be
- 1:43:03Speaker 4: trying to get him a little later.
- 1:43:04Speaker 6: Maybe I also want to stay real quick that less
- 1:43:07Speaker 6: like it's tough because we know the way the board dropped.
- 1:43:08Speaker 6: But like remember people thought Panix was going round two
- 1:43:11Speaker 6: number eight, So it's just I think, I mean.
- 1:43:13Speaker 2: No, the JJ McCarthy one is a good one because
- 1:43:17Speaker 2: more nfl ready yeah, but see more of a pocket passer.
- 1:43:20Speaker 4: But but I think Fred, if he's to talk Robert
- 1:43:22Speaker 4: Craft into this, it's it's not a long term thing,
- 1:43:25Speaker 4: like I mean, you're this is it like you got
- 1:43:27Speaker 4: one more year? And that's why I think they make
- 1:43:29Speaker 4: a push for Kirk Cousins. He gets a veteran quarterback,
- 1:43:32Speaker 4: you know, maybe allows Bill O'Brien to round out his
- 1:43:35Speaker 4: staff and and hire the guys that he wants and
- 1:43:38Speaker 4: then you know, go with Alt And I don't even
- 1:43:40Speaker 4: know about the quarterback because if you get Kirk Cousins
- 1:43:42Speaker 4: for a couple of years, what difference does it make?
- 1:43:44Speaker 2: But they still what about all the signings? Do they
- 1:43:48Speaker 2: sign all these guys? No, that's they give Barber the deal?
- 1:43:52Speaker 2: Do they give you know, Hunter, Henry and Stevenson?
- 1:43:55Speaker 4: I could see un I think Hunter Henry I would
- 1:43:57Speaker 4: say yes because there wasn't anything there. He loves tight ends.
- 1:44:01Speaker 4: I think that was an easy one to buy.
- 1:44:03Speaker 2: All the guys on deep I can see to.
- 1:44:05Speaker 4: I mean, I have a harder time with Barmore just
- 1:44:07Speaker 4: because big deal, and.
- 1:44:08Speaker 6: You know, Barmore just stands his ground. I think the
- 1:44:11Speaker 6: deal gets done, but just like a huge here's a question, Fred,
- 1:44:14Speaker 6: is this.
- 1:44:15Speaker 4: Bill Belichick with the money or Elliott Wolf with the money?
- 1:44:18Speaker 4: Like does it make a difference, Like you know what
- 1:44:20Speaker 4: I'm saying, Like like it's Robert Craft's money. So like
- 1:44:23Speaker 4: with that contract, Like would Bill Belichick be like, I'm
- 1:44:26Speaker 4: not gonna do that much, but Elliott Wolf says I
- 1:44:28Speaker 4: will do that much? Or is it?
- 1:44:30Speaker 2: Well, we got to go get it. A lot of
- 1:44:33Speaker 2: times Bill not spending money wasn't just because of the money.
- 1:44:37Speaker 2: It was because of the order of the locker room.
- 1:44:40Speaker 2: It's because if I give this guy this money, I
- 1:44:43Speaker 2: disrupt the locker room. And I there's a pecking order
- 1:44:46Speaker 2: that I think Bill always paid attention to who's making
- 1:44:49Speaker 2: the most at each position, who's making the most overall?
- 1:44:54Speaker 2: And does that make sense to keep the locker room right?
- 1:44:58Speaker 2: And I think a lot of times it wasn't just
- 1:45:01Speaker 2: too much money, it was who I'm paying that to.
- 1:45:03Speaker 4: We'll tie out to mc myers then, you know, which
- 1:45:06Speaker 4: just kind of shows some of the wishy washy nature
- 1:45:08Speaker 4: of how things kind of went at the end where
- 1:45:10Speaker 4: you didn't quite know what you were going to get.
- 1:45:12Speaker 2: But this is like this exercise that we're doing right now,
- 1:45:15Speaker 2: to me, tells us why Bill's not here anymore. All
- 1:45:18Speaker 2: this complication, you know, So like if let's just say
- 1:45:22Speaker 2: they had that meeting at the end and he talks
- 1:45:24Speaker 2: Robin into keeping him, there has to be conditions, right,
- 1:45:28Speaker 2: so is one of the conditions that Elliott is more involved,
- 1:45:32Speaker 2: Like you know, you don't have the pocketbook anymore, you're
- 1:45:35Speaker 2: not making all the personnel decisions.
- 1:45:38Speaker 4: So but there's also like the fact that and I
- 1:45:41Speaker 4: don't know if Bill knew this, but it was in
- 1:45:42Speaker 4: Girod's contract, right.
- 1:45:43Speaker 2: That so well that eventually like that have to be
- 1:45:46Speaker 2: this year, so that.
- 1:45:47Speaker 4: Whole thing would continue to kind of hang over his
- 1:45:49Speaker 4: head too, which makes men want do.
- 1:45:51Speaker 2: We get confirmed that it was in his contract, that
- 1:45:53Speaker 2: that was true, that like someone of those things. Yeah,
- 1:45:56Speaker 2: I know, So I don't know if that's.
- 1:45:57Speaker 4: You make the jumps.
- 1:45:58Speaker 6: But I think the interesting pick obviously the number three,
- 1:46:01Speaker 6: but I think that second round pick would have been
- 1:46:03Speaker 6: I don't think it would have been Pulk if Bill.
- 1:46:05Speaker 2: Was here, probably defense maybe or a tackle.
- 1:46:08Speaker 4: Saf just a fourth round receiver Cooper de Gene, Well,
- 1:46:13Speaker 4: that would have been no. But I think to Fred's
- 1:46:15Speaker 4: point of conditions, like you have to address the offense.
- 1:46:18Speaker 4: You cannot just buy a bunch of defensive guys in
- 1:46:21Speaker 4: free agency in the draft. Leg now we need to
- 1:46:23Speaker 4: address this.
- 1:46:24Speaker 2: There was too much to be done. It was time. Yeah,
- 1:46:28Speaker 2: it was time. And I know, you know, the the
- 1:46:31Speaker 2: billbots out there are you know, attacking me on Twitter
- 1:46:34Speaker 2: now as we speak. But it was time.
- 1:46:36Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:46:37Speaker 2: As much as Bill did for this organization, I'll be
- 1:46:40Speaker 2: forever grateful, it was time.
- 1:46:42Speaker 4: It was a lot of things too. Is that this
- 1:46:44Speaker 4: was another one of the questions in the mail bag,
- 1:46:47Speaker 4: and it's like it's in so many of these points
- 1:46:49Speaker 4: that we talked about over the last five years of
- 1:46:51Speaker 4: you know, why did it fall apart? And it's you know,
- 1:46:54Speaker 4: he's easy to put on missdraft.
- 1:46:56Speaker 2: The real question is how did it stay together for
- 1:46:58Speaker 2: over twenty years? That's the real question. Yeah, yeah, that's
- 1:47:01Speaker 2: the real question.
- 1:47:02Speaker 4: Because I said, by the time you got to seventeen
- 1:47:04Speaker 4: eighteen nine, like those three years, the snowball was going
- 1:47:08Speaker 4: down the mountain. Now it was getting bigger and bigger,
- 1:47:11Speaker 4: and the lack of talent and the coaching departures and then,
- 1:47:14Speaker 4: you know, and I think what was just so jarring
- 1:47:16Speaker 4: to me was I just always felt like when we
- 1:47:19Speaker 4: you know, we talked about these Brady Belichick stuff, that
- 1:47:21Speaker 4: we could always at least count on a Bill Belichick
- 1:47:23Speaker 4: team to not beat themselves. You know, like that was
- 1:47:26Speaker 4: just my baseline of like, as long as they're going
- 1:47:28Speaker 4: to that's what our special sauces and that's what will
- 1:47:31Speaker 4: make this place still special after Tom Brady. That will
- 1:47:34Speaker 4: have a well prepared team that will have good game plans.
- 1:47:37Speaker 4: They won't make stupid mistakes, they won't decide to throw
- 1:47:40Speaker 4: a lateral in a tie game with the kind and
- 1:47:42Speaker 4: that's where you end.
- 1:47:42Speaker 2: And that's where they end up. And then special teams you, okay,
- 1:47:46Speaker 2: everything else is terrible. Special teams is going to be
- 1:47:49Speaker 2: good and terrible.
- 1:47:50Speaker 4: Was That's great, That's a great point too.
- 1:47:52Speaker 2: You know, what was going on so many.
- 1:47:54Speaker 4: Of the things that if you would ask me in
- 1:47:55Speaker 4: twenty twenty when we were talking about Bill and Tom
- 1:47:58Speaker 4: and everyone's making fun of me for, you know, being
- 1:48:00Speaker 4: you know, kind of like the same thing you're saying
- 1:48:02Speaker 4: about Bill was how I felt where it was just time,
- 1:48:05Speaker 4: you know. But now it's like you look back and
- 1:48:07Speaker 4: it's like all the signs were there. But I just
- 1:48:10Speaker 4: never would have expected that they would have fallen that
- 1:48:13Speaker 4: badly with the simple football stuff, big decisions in the
- 1:48:18Speaker 4: in the critical moments, and they just became a team
- 1:48:20Speaker 4: that couldn't do that anymore.
- 1:48:22Speaker 2: Eric writes in Let's see Where's he from? New Jersey,
- 1:48:27Speaker 2: and he says, a few weeks ago, someone I think
- 1:48:29Speaker 2: it was Spee wrote in asking how the crew would
- 1:48:31Speaker 2: compare it to the Seinfeld characters. The gang entertained the
- 1:48:35Speaker 2: game for a second, but then moved on, saying there
- 1:48:37Speaker 2: wasn't a good fit. I disagree. The answer is simple.
- 1:48:41Speaker 2: Fred is seinfelt, good natured and successful. Fred's immaturity Hides's rudeness.
- 1:48:46Speaker 2: Of course, Fred's liability is the reason we all keep
- 1:48:48Speaker 2: coming back. Fred provides a great setting for the other
- 1:48:51Speaker 2: three odd balls. Paul is George Fred's Foyle. Paul is
- 1:48:56Speaker 2: both hot headed and erotic. He has a lot of
- 1:48:58Speaker 2: useless information and is an underachiever. Most importantly, like George
- 1:49:03Speaker 2: and Seinfeld, he is the true star of the show.
- 1:49:07Speaker 2: Mike is Kramer. Mike has a lot of quirky stories
- 1:49:10Speaker 2: and perspectives. His grandpa knew Ted Williams. He once burned
- 1:49:13Speaker 2: down his parents' cabin straight from a Seinfeld episode. That's true,
- 1:49:17Speaker 2: And he once came on the show completely loopy from
- 1:49:20Speaker 2: lack of sleep. Also, like Kramer, Mike tried to make
- 1:49:23Speaker 2: it in Hollywood for a while.
- 1:49:24Speaker 4: That's true. You told me I'm Kramer.
- 1:49:27Speaker 2: Evan is Elaine. I would like to venture to guess
- 1:49:31Speaker 2: he is the worst dancer in the group. Compared to
- 1:49:34Speaker 2: Fred's other two sidekicks, he seems relatively sane. Also, he's
- 1:49:38Speaker 2: the least masculine. That's pretty good. Pretty good at Eric
- 1:49:43Speaker 2: from New Jersey. This character comp also dovetails with something
- 1:49:47Speaker 2: Evan said two weeks ago that bumped me. Is that
- 1:49:51Speaker 2: a kid thing?
- 1:49:52Speaker 4: He bumped me?
- 1:49:54Speaker 2: Really? Okay? He thinks putting ikea furniture together is a
- 1:49:59Speaker 2: manly job and a worthy accomplishment. Putting I can't furniture
- 1:50:03Speaker 2: together is legos for adults. Only one tool is required
- 1:50:07Speaker 2: and that puny little allan wrench comes in the box.
- 1:50:10Speaker 2: This activity requires no grit, strength of ingenuity. That Eric,
- 1:50:14Speaker 2: that's a that's a damn good email.
- 1:50:16Speaker 4: That's a damn good email.
- 1:50:18Speaker 2: We didn't answer that because you weren't here. Yeah, we
- 1:50:20Speaker 2: needed your take. But speaking of that, I don't know
- 1:50:23Speaker 2: if you guys ever got to this, but we were
- 1:50:24Speaker 2: talking about mowing lawn. When your moa lawn, there's that
- 1:50:28Speaker 2: sense of accomplishment.
- 1:50:29Speaker 8: You know.
- 1:50:30Speaker 2: A man Jason and Rocky Hill, Connecticut sends in a poem,
- 1:50:35Speaker 2: uh about that. Yeah, this is a poem by Douglas
- 1:50:40Speaker 2: Mallock and he says the man who never had you
- 1:50:45Speaker 2: got to say this in the Ted Baxter, you know,
- 1:50:48Speaker 2: or the man who never had to toil to gain
- 1:50:51Speaker 2: and farm his patch of soil, who never had to
- 1:50:54Speaker 2: win his share of sun and sky and light and air,
- 1:50:58Speaker 2: never became a manly man, but lived and died as
- 1:51:01Speaker 2: he began. Oh so that's happened. I love it.
- 1:51:04Speaker 4: Put it on my graystone. Well that was me, Fred,
- 1:51:07Speaker 4: because I the last few days I've had a staycation,
- 1:51:09Speaker 4: which I haven't done in a while, and it's been amazing,
- 1:51:11Speaker 4: but it's time to get stuff done around the house.
- 1:51:13Speaker 4: And I did mulch along my walkway, like so this
- 1:51:16Speaker 4: has been a progression.
- 1:51:16Speaker 2: I did mulch around along.
- 1:51:18Speaker 4: My walkway up to my front steps.
- 1:51:20Speaker 2: Okay, when we moved in, hold on black molt, brown molt,
- 1:51:24Speaker 2: brown molt. The brown red didn't go with the cedar
- 1:51:27Speaker 2: red one with the dark stuff. But when we first
- 1:51:29Speaker 2: moved in, we had these old shrubs that were all
- 1:51:32Speaker 2: they're kind of like not like pine trees, but kind
- 1:51:35Speaker 2: of needles on it.
- 1:51:36Speaker 4: They're just gross. And they were like eight of them.
- 1:51:37Speaker 4: They were all dead. They've been picked apart. So you know,
- 1:51:40Speaker 4: over the last six months, I bought like a little
- 1:51:41Speaker 4: chainsaw took those things just out like it didn't get
- 1:51:44Speaker 4: a stuck grinder, did myself. The little chainsaw got it out.
- 1:51:46Speaker 4: And then this weekend I put down, you know, a
- 1:51:48Speaker 4: weed matt and put down my mulch. I did it
- 1:51:51Speaker 4: before and after picture, and I was like, you know,
- 1:51:52Speaker 4: and it's like it's so simple, Like I mean, I
- 1:51:54Speaker 4: probably spent fifty bucks at home deep on mulch and
- 1:51:57Speaker 4: weed covered, and I'm like, why do I wait this
- 1:51:59Speaker 4: long to do it? But I just sat there and
- 1:52:01Speaker 4: you know, and then I mowed my lawn two days
- 1:52:03Speaker 4: ago and I'm like the mould lawn with the mults.
- 1:52:05Speaker 13: And.
- 1:52:07Speaker 2: Oh, I sure, I've taken the land and I've molded
- 1:52:11Speaker 2: it to the shape that I want.
- 1:52:13Speaker 4: You know, That's what I was doing. But another part
- 1:52:16Speaker 4: of those we have that not weed. I always bring
- 1:52:17Speaker 4: up that Japanese not weed, which is the.
- 1:52:19Speaker 2: Fight jape your weed.
- 1:52:21Speaker 4: It's this invasive species that's like all around and I
- 1:52:24Speaker 4: notice it everywhere now, but it's a problem on.
- 1:52:27Speaker 2: The cape with the invasive species. They're everywhere.
- 1:52:29Speaker 4: I don't see the not weed as much, but it's
- 1:52:31Speaker 4: it's kind of like bamboo and it just it shoots
- 1:52:34Speaker 4: and it goes everywhere.
- 1:52:35Speaker 2: And oh and it's got the green broad leaves. Oh yeah,
- 1:52:38Speaker 2: they're everywhere. They're easy to knock down, but they just
- 1:52:41Speaker 2: keep coming.
- 1:52:41Speaker 4: They just keep coming back, and it's, uh, it's an
- 1:52:44Speaker 4: unending battle. Like the people who lived before us, I
- 1:52:47Speaker 4: guess they planted it because back in like the seventies,
- 1:52:49Speaker 4: it was like a groundcover thing. So it's uh. But
- 1:52:52Speaker 4: like you're reading that poet, I'm like picturing myself like
- 1:52:55Speaker 4: hacking my struggle. Yeah, it's it's fun.
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:53:00Speaker 2: In the cape, there's a lot of invasive spec invasive
- 1:53:03Speaker 2: species species, yeah species. Yeah. You get a lot of
- 1:53:08Speaker 2: turtles that come up from the pond to lay their eggs.
- 1:53:10Speaker 2: We got like four or five of the turtles.
- 1:53:12Speaker 6: We have audubon like always uh blocking off their eggs
- 1:53:15Speaker 6: and stuff.
- 1:53:16Speaker 2: Yeah, but and like within a day some animal came
- 1:53:18Speaker 2: and digs them up and eats off. Yeah.
- 1:53:20Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, a little leathery turtle.
- 1:53:23Speaker 2: Yeah. I would say, like, you know, if I was
- 1:53:24Speaker 2: an animal, I think turtle eggs would be my go to.
- 1:53:27Speaker 2: It would be sort of like chicken.
- 1:53:28Speaker 6: Wings, isn't like when the turtles are hashed, they can
- 1:53:33Speaker 6: have the free fall to the water, but you're not
- 1:53:35Speaker 6: allowed as a human to like help them. It's like
- 1:53:38Speaker 6: because we had it in our yard and you just
- 1:53:40Speaker 6: have like twenty for all the birds.
- 1:53:42Speaker 4: Are just going and yeah, I know, I know, all
- 1:53:44Speaker 4: of a sudden, there's like they pop out one day.
- 1:53:46Speaker 2: Remember my huge finely you can't touch it.
- 1:53:50Speaker 4: I'll still snap you watch snap. You get the snapping
- 1:53:52Speaker 4: turtles get you get your finger.
- 1:53:56Speaker 2: Yeah. Okay, so a lot of snakes too.
- 1:53:59Speaker 4: About the gardener Staing.
- 1:54:00Speaker 2: Sunday ticket, Yeah, the House of the Dragon. Yeah, I tried.
- 1:54:05Speaker 4: I tried, watched the first ten minutes of it. I'm like,
- 1:54:08Speaker 4: I just don't care my issues.
- 1:54:10Speaker 6: They're all the same name. I don't know who's who.
- 1:54:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm just watching us.
- 1:54:14Speaker 10: Well.
- 1:54:14Speaker 2: Speaking of the shows, Pascal writes about Star Wars, the
- 1:54:17Speaker 2: story was lacking in places where they should have understood
- 1:54:20Speaker 2: the force better. No way a Sith or Jedi master
- 1:54:23Speaker 2: wouldn't immediately recognize their apprentice's dark side in light side energy.
- 1:54:28Speaker 4: Oh interesting, Okay, I haven't watched all the episodes. I
- 1:54:30Speaker 4: think he's referring to some of that. Yeah, but uh, yeah,
- 1:54:33Speaker 4: I don't know. I don't know.
- 1:54:34Speaker 6: It's uh, just give me another movie. I'm done with
- 1:54:37Speaker 6: the shows.
- 1:54:38Speaker 2: Trent a couple of quick things. He says, as Fred
- 1:54:41Speaker 2: would say, the way you do with five guys hot
- 1:54:43Speaker 2: Dog is with Mustard relish, raw onion, bacon, jolapnos, and
- 1:54:47Speaker 2: cheese profecto. That's much a lot, And Paul, you are wrong.
- 1:54:51Speaker 2: Stevenson has made major impacts on games. He single handedly
- 1:54:55Speaker 2: won the game in twenty twenty two for Vegas.
- 1:55:00Speaker 4: All right, he did start it. He doesn't get enough
- 1:55:02Speaker 4: craft for that, Like, I don't even know if anyone
- 1:55:04Speaker 4: asked him about it, like what were you thinking of there?
- 1:55:05Speaker 6: I think he was thinking that the other two people
- 1:55:08Speaker 6: were gonna let Jacoby.
- 1:55:09Speaker 4: Was My favorite though, was like imagining Jacoby's of like, well,
- 1:55:12Speaker 4: we're doing it, we're doing it, Like like what did
- 1:55:14Speaker 4: he think? Like it couldn't have been anything that was
- 1:55:16Speaker 4: mentioned before that point, like reminder just went broke.
- 1:55:18Speaker 6: They watched The Longest Yard the day before the schoolyard bs.
- 1:55:21Speaker 6: It's almost like they thought they were losing such a
- 1:55:24Speaker 6: tough sports day.
- 1:55:25Speaker 2: It's just don't turn the ball over and the game
- 1:55:29Speaker 2: keeps playing.
- 1:55:29Speaker 6: And that's the difference is that the past the Patriots
- 1:55:32Speaker 6: never used to do that stuff.
- 1:55:33Speaker 4: I know, and if there was a team, Yeah, there
- 1:55:35Speaker 4: was one clip that you could that sums up the
- 1:55:38Speaker 4: decline of that team. It's that.
- 1:55:40Speaker 6: But then it was also, wasn't that we uh the
- 1:55:42Speaker 6: week one fumble against Miami? They did again against the Bengals.
- 1:55:45Speaker 6: I think that's the same year. It's just, yeah, there's
- 1:55:47Speaker 6: always something.
- 1:55:48Speaker 8: No.
- 1:55:49Speaker 2: There was on time Todd and Garner, North Carolina, if
- 1:55:52Speaker 2: you are correct, and Bill was eyeing the money. Was
- 1:55:55Speaker 2: he capped by Crafts to include his salary and the
- 1:55:58Speaker 2: overall money paid out or is Bill trying to ensure
- 1:56:01Speaker 2: that he just maintained a specific level to justify his
- 1:56:04Speaker 2: own salary. Was always curious about how Bill's compensation affected
- 1:56:08Speaker 2: or didn't affect the team. It's a good question.
- 1:56:11Speaker 4: You've talked about that.
- 1:56:11Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:56:12Speaker 4: It just seems like a conflict of interest to me
- 1:56:13Speaker 4: to like, well, any money you don't spend you get
- 1:56:15Speaker 4: to you get, Like, yeah, it seems like.
- 1:56:18Speaker 2: It seems like it should have been separate. However, like
- 1:56:22Speaker 2: I wouldn't be surprised if you know, Craft at some
- 1:56:25Speaker 2: point said well, you know, I shouldn't have to have
- 1:56:29Speaker 2: the highest payroll in the NFL because I've got you sure,
- 1:56:33Speaker 2: and I'm paying you as the highest coach in sports,
- 1:56:37Speaker 2: you know, so that I don't have to have all
- 1:56:40Speaker 2: that to me is why not have both? You know? So,
- 1:56:44Speaker 2: like that's not a but it could you know, it
- 1:56:47Speaker 2: could be.
- 1:56:47Speaker 4: It's just weird to incentivize not spending money, you know,
- 1:56:50Speaker 4: It's like I incentivize win out.
- 1:56:52Speaker 2: It could affect the other coaches' salaries, Like you don't
- 1:56:56Speaker 2: need to bring in all the high powered coordinators.
- 1:56:59Speaker 4: That see and that I can see Bill.
- 1:57:01Speaker 2: That's why I'm paying you.
- 1:57:03Speaker 4: You know, I could see Bill advocating for that to yeah,
- 1:57:06Speaker 4: you know, maintain the hierarchy. But again, that whole system
- 1:57:09Speaker 4: fell apart to all these like you know, young coaches
- 1:57:12Speaker 4: that you know you should have somehow nurtured and kept
- 1:57:15Speaker 4: them here. All you know left.
- 1:57:17Speaker 2: Well, tell you what didn't fall apart is the show
- 1:57:19Speaker 2: in the new set. We'll be back on Thursday at noon, No.
