- 0:18i'm a social media I don't want people to think
- 0:25that I get on the internet and start hating people
- 0:27on social media. That's not what I do. The first
- 0:29half was absolutely, absolutely horrible. You
- 0:33know, just inept offense, inept defense, special
- 0:37teams, you name it. I'm going to turn into Oprah.
- 0:41Why were you so angry? He sucks this season.
- 0:45This game, whatever, whatever's going on, right?
- 0:47And then in the very next pitch, guess what?
- 0:50they double Homer and he's like told you dad
- 0:53why you always knocking down people listen you
- 0:56got the highs and the lows yeah so I knew that
- 0:58you need you need the highs and the lows and
- 1:01so I do that yeah I'm trying to be the voice
- 1:04of reason here I am what I am Hey, what's up
- 1:20everybody? Welcome to another episode of fanatically
- 1:23speaking. I'm Kent the co -host and promoter
- 1:25I Am log off the log off legend the hater of
- 1:28social media. I am the co -host and producer
- 1:30to show All right, and this episode is all football
- 1:35And it is all NFL all NFL. Well, yeah, mainly
- 1:40NFL then we're gonna touch in college But the
- 1:43main the main thing is the NFL and it is that
- 1:46I am now on the same page with log off We don't
- 1:50trust anybody in NFL. DTA, don't trust anybody.
- 1:55Don't trust a soul. Don't trust anybody. Don't
- 1:58trust any coaching staff. Don't trust any roster.
- 2:01Nope. Don't trust any schedule. Don't trust the
- 2:04historical precedence of any division. Everything
- 2:08is up for grabs and I'm gonna throw a curve ball
- 2:10at you, Kent. Okay. And this is something we
- 2:14never talked about. It just came to my mind.
- 2:18I'm curious what the gambling sports books look
- 2:21like because this season has been so unpredictable.
- 2:26How can you predict anything? Yeah. I mean, I
- 2:30don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't
- 2:31know what they're thinking. I don't know what
- 2:32their mind is going through their minds, but
- 2:35this has to be one of the most frustrating NFL
- 2:38seasons because no one, anyone can, you can say
- 2:40what you want to about how good you think a team
- 2:42is. It means nothing right now. Yeah. And I think
- 2:46You know, we've touched on gambling a lot, and
- 2:48it makes you really think about some stuff that
- 2:51happens during these games, some of these decisions
- 2:53by the coaches, decisions by players. Referee
- 2:58calls? Referee calls. I'm not saying there's
- 3:00something going on. I'm just saying that gambling's
- 3:04so huge now, and we're seeing stuff that is just
- 3:07kind of out of the norm. totally out of the norm.
- 3:12And you know, not to go too off script on this,
- 3:15but like you said, you mentioned the calls, you
- 3:17mentioned, you know, we got players spitting
- 3:19on each other. You got, you got kickers kicking
- 3:2370 yard field goals. You know, you got, I mean,
- 3:27just blatant calls, not being called, you know,
- 3:31flimsy calls. you know, being caught being flagged
- 3:34and, you know, changing the outcomes of games.
- 3:37It's so unpredictable, man. And it just makes
- 3:40it hard. So no, I think if this, I think we kind
- 3:42of covered the basis, man. Don't trust anybody.
- 3:45And, um, go ahead. Where do you want to start,
- 3:47man? Which, uh, which matchup from this past
- 3:49week do you want to kind of lead off with? I'm
- 3:52going to let you go down and just run down the
- 3:53schedule and we're going to hit on each game
- 3:56quick as we possibly can on the outcome of the
- 4:00game and what, and our thoughts. Got it So, yeah,
- 4:08let's start um, you know Thanksgiving Green Bay
- 4:11in Detroit, so obviously You know Detroit hosts
- 4:15the playoff game. I'm sorry the Detroit host
- 4:18of Thanksgiving game every year and Here they
- 4:21are playing a division opponent in the Green
- 4:23Bay Packers The the game was competitive We all
- 4:28had high hopes for the for the Lions this year.
- 4:30They came out hot Winning really good games Dan
- 4:34Campbell really good play calling, you know took
- 4:37some risk that benefited them But you know for
- 4:40you to lose that game like that in that fashion
- 4:43on Thanksgiving, you know, it hurts a lot What
- 4:46did you think about it? Yeah competitive division
- 4:49rival and again, there was a call where that
- 4:54there was a touchdown for the Packers and I'm
- 4:57not completely still sold that he had control
- 4:58of the ball when he got his first foot down.
- 5:00But they called it a touchdown by Wicks. And
- 5:04then later he made another unbelievable catch.
- 5:08There was no doubt he caught it. But yeah, Jared
- 5:12Goff, the Lions, like I said, Dan Campbell calling
- 5:14plays. He's been, it was going good and now it's
- 5:18kind of dropping. They call a lot of trick plays.
- 5:21Those trick plays aren't working. And when that
- 5:23happens, it's over. They can't seem to get out
- 5:27of their own way when the trick plays don't work.
- 5:30And we saw that in the playoffs last year when
- 5:31they got smashed by the commanders. But now we're
- 5:35seeing it during the regular season. And they've
- 5:38got hurt, but everybody's injured. So injuries
- 5:39are not going to be an excuse for anybody. And
- 5:42the Packers, again, they've been up and down
- 5:45every week. When they're winning, Then you get
- 5:48to hear about how great their defense is and
- 5:50how their Super Bowl contenders. And then you
- 5:52see them lose to the Panthers and the Eagles
- 5:55and other teams, Browns. So yeah, I mean, it
- 5:59does nothing for me. It was a division game.
- 6:01I'm more disappointed in the Lions because it's
- 6:05their game, right? They host Thanksgiving home
- 6:07field and they fell short. Yeah, they fell short
- 6:13and like you said, it's weird. I feel like as
- 6:17we go through each of these games, I'm going
- 6:19to be as I'm going to be the least amount of
- 6:25impressed with the team that wins than I am as
- 6:29a team that lost. And, you know, to actually,
- 6:32you know, kind of make that point, let's go to
- 6:35the very next game. Let's go to Cowboys Chiefs.
- 6:39And we saw the flashes that Kansas City had.
- 6:44We saw some great plays and some great passes
- 6:46that Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelsey were able
- 6:49to make. But Dallas was able to control that
- 6:54game in a lot of ways. They were able to score
- 6:56when they needed to, and they were able to put
- 6:59up the points. I'm still not totally sold on
- 7:02the Cowboys. Their win record is what it is,
- 7:05and it's great for football. When the Cowboys
- 7:09are in the hunt, they're a... you know, a pretty
- 7:13much a 500 team with a tie. And you know, there's
- 7:16still two and a half games back in the NFC East,
- 7:19but you know, even though they were able to go
- 7:21out and win a big game in a big stage against,
- 7:24you know, Patrick Mahomes, I'm still not totally
- 7:28sold on them. Pretty sure you feel the same way.
- 7:32Yeah, I'm impressed with them. I mean, when you
- 7:34can win three games in a row when they were left
- 7:36for dead. And of course that got going by them
- 7:39beating the lowly Las Vegas Raiders. And they
- 7:44made some moves, good moves, and they're playing
- 7:45better. But let's be honest, right? I think the
- 7:50last few games for them and even this Chiefs
- 7:52game, it says more about the Eagles and the Chiefs
- 7:56than the Cowboys. I'm not gonna go on a big rant.
- 8:01I'm not gonna sit here and blame the referees
- 8:02or the column, but we all know how many flags
- 8:05have been called the last three games. Overwhelmingly,
- 8:08a lot of flags on the opposing team. Hell, you
- 8:11couldn't watch that Chiefs -Cowboy game without
- 8:13a flag being thrown. You knew pass interference
- 8:15about every other play. The Cowboys' best play
- 8:18was just throw the ball up and get a flag. And
- 8:21I'm not saying they weren't flags, but some are
- 8:24questionable, just like we talked about earlier.
- 8:27Questionable calls. There's questionable calls
- 8:29in that Philly game, and I'm not saying that's
- 8:31costing the game or deciding the game. I'm just
- 8:33saying it's kind of interesting that the last
- 8:37three games, the opposing team to the Dallas
- 8:39Cowboys, are getting in the double digits, mid
- 8:42-teens of flags. And I'm not gonna go into detail.
- 8:48And there's a lot of reason. No, go ahead, go
- 8:50ahead, go ahead. No, I'm just saying there's
- 8:52a few plays if you go back and look, right? I
- 8:55mean, we can go back to that CD Lamb, stiff armed,
- 8:59Cooper Dejean, big play in the eagle game. If
- 9:02you watch that Chiefs game, one of the touchdowns
- 9:06they scored, Travis Kelsey, he got Mean he got
- 9:11twisted turned pulled everything else. He worked
- 9:14his ass off to make that catch that ball No flag
- 9:18no no flag Even in the Eagles back to the Eagles
- 9:21game the no -name tight end that caught the one
- 9:23touchdown. He'd literally Blocked the Macuba
- 9:26to the to the ground and that's why he was wide
- 9:29open and once again no flag And again, that's
- 9:34some of my cowboy hate but You know, the Cowboys,
- 9:37again, they're a good team. They got to prove
- 9:38it, right? They're right there. And they got
- 9:41some big games coming up. And we mentioned the
- 9:43Lions. They got the Lions next. So, you know,
- 9:47again, it's going to be everybody's battle. It's
- 9:49playoff time now. I think the whole NFL is really
- 9:51like playoff. Every game is a playoff game for
- 9:54a lot of teams. And the Cowboys, though, like
- 9:57you said, once again, though, do I believe in
- 9:59them a little more than I did? But like I just
- 10:03said, I think it's more about How the Eagles
- 10:06have played this year and how the Chiefs have
- 10:08played than the Cowboys I mean kudos to them.
- 10:10They play great at home. They won two home games
- 10:12in a row Again, they beat they beat Detroit.
- 10:15I'm gonna place my bet Well, and that's the other
- 10:19thing I I am NOT going that far To bet on the
- 10:24Cowboys. I believe you are what your record says
- 10:27you are and when you're a 500 team with a tie
- 10:32on your record where you couldn't just squeak
- 10:33out and get a win versus Green Bay, it tells
- 10:36me what I need to know. The one thing I'm gonna
- 10:40give them credit for is they have picked the
- 10:42right time to start clicking. And maybe it is
- 10:45matchup based where they caught Kansas City slipping,
- 10:48they caught Philly slipping, and now we see Detroit
- 10:50slipping. So maybe they can play them and get
- 10:52another win and just kind of keep their win streak
- 10:54going. So maybe they're just catching lightning
- 10:56in a bottle and they're able to capitalize on
- 10:58the moment, but - All in all at the end of the
- 11:02day when it comes time to win a big game in a
- 11:05big moment I just still don't trust them and
- 11:08I've got you know three decades worth of history
- 11:11to tell me that I shouldn't and I'm not gonna
- 11:13let three weeks or four weeks Overwrite that
- 11:17they're gonna have to go out there and prove
- 11:18it and show me that that's what they are what
- 11:20they're capable of doing A lot of the magic that
- 11:28happens is Patrick Mahomes being Patrick Mahomes.
- 11:31We were texting in the middle of the game, the
- 11:33dude's incredible. I was expecting to come back.
- 11:36I was expecting him to make the throws, to get
- 11:38them down the field, to get a scoring position.
- 11:41And I don't see, I don't see this gentleman making
- 11:46the adjustments. Season to season. I feel like
- 11:51they're like, Oh, well, this has always worked
- 11:52for us. And we're just going to run this same
- 11:54play again. Travis Kelsey still long in the tooth.
- 11:57No matter what Tony Romo says on the broadcast,
- 12:00you know, just, you know, just speaking about
- 12:03just how, um, you know, how great Kelsey is and,
- 12:07Oh, and look at this, his footwork and you know,
- 12:09all of that's great. But at the same time, he's
- 12:12an aging tight end, you know, what is he 37 and
- 12:17And he's not what he used to be. He's having
- 12:19a great year, but he's not the dominant player
- 12:23that he used to be. And I think they're just
- 12:25trying to hold on to what they've got for just
- 12:27a little too long. And I mean, you could see
- 12:29this actually is representing itself in their
- 12:31win total, but they've had a good run and they're
- 12:35still in the running. for a playoff spot, and
- 12:38it could be dangerous if they do get a playoff
- 12:40spot, but they're not the number one overall
- 12:43seed Kansas City Chiefs that we've been used
- 12:45to seeing for the last, what, four or five seasons?
- 12:48It's not happening. No, they're doing things.
- 12:52And again, this is where you credit the teams
- 12:54that win and you got to talk about the teams
- 12:56that lose. And the Chiefs are like, they're dropping
- 12:58passes, dropping interceptions. And when you
- 13:02do that and the other team doesn't, You know,
- 13:04that's what's the difference of these ballgames.
- 13:07So But yeah, like I said, even though they're
- 13:10six and six, I'm not I'm not ready to say the
- 13:12Chiefs are done I'll say it I'll say it. I mean,
- 13:18it's just I'll say it the AFC is too competitive
- 13:21You can see there's other teams that are willing
- 13:24to go and win I feel like the games a lot of
- 13:26the games that they've lost have been winnable
- 13:28games Yeah. And if they can't win those games,
- 13:31I don't see them advancing in the playoffs where
- 13:34everybody realizes a one game sample. There is
- 13:36no next week. You got to win now. Yeah. And for
- 13:38them not to be able to win that game when they
- 13:40were in positions to do it, we could talk about
- 13:42the calls. I get it. Yeah. And Dallas did what
- 13:45they needed to do to score the points. Oh yeah.
- 13:46But we are used to them overcoming those obstacles.
- 13:50And Patrick Mahomes putting on a Superman cape
- 13:52and eking out a three point win. And he couldn't
- 13:54do it. And he hadn't been able to do it. this
- 13:57season to the point where they've lost half their
- 13:59games. I'm saying it's over. Okay. I'm good with
- 14:03it. I'm saying it's over and let's roll to the
- 14:07probably the most anger fueled matchup. Not going
- 14:10to spend a lot. We're not going to spend a lot
- 14:11of time on this Kent. No, I'm not. Hey, my video
- 14:15is out there. TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, check
- 14:17it out. It's out there. Kent's breakdown of Bears,
- 14:22Eagles. Um, we saw it. So it was a, the black
- 14:25Friday game, black Friday, a matchup in the middle
- 14:27of the afternoon. Um, I, we, we, we exchange
- 14:33a lot of information throughout the week. Just,
- 14:36you know, just as friends. And you've been telling
- 14:39me forever, Hey man, offense, not clicking. Jalen
- 14:42hurts, not getting it done. We know the AJ Brown
- 14:45complaining, Saquon not running the ball. Well,
- 14:48I don't know if there's maybe something that
- 14:51we don't know. that maybe there's some injuries
- 14:53that they're hiding on the injury report, but
- 14:56I've never seen a, I've never seen a team with
- 15:01this much talent look as offensively gun -shy
- 15:06and afraid to take the chances, scared to turn
- 15:11the ball over than I've seen in this year's Philadelphia
- 15:15Eagles. To me, that is the main issue. I don't
- 15:19think it's execution. I don't think it's as much
- 15:23of play calling. I think it's more we want to
- 15:27try to play it safe and we're good enough to
- 15:30be able to win those games when clearly they
- 15:33aren't. I'll go ahead and give the Bears credit.
- 15:37They went out and did what they needed to do.
- 15:40A lot of eyes. It was a really big game and for.
- 15:47For Caleb Williams to keep his composure. and
- 15:51to have a complete game to where all he didn't
- 15:55have to do was screw it up. He didn't have to
- 15:57screw it up and they'd win. Let the run game
- 16:01take over and go wild. I got to give them credit
- 16:03for managing the game enough to win something
- 16:06of this magnitude to the point where now they're
- 16:09nine and three. They're the one seed right now.
- 16:13I gotta take my hat off to him, man. Like that
- 16:16was impressive. And he's gonna have to play better
- 16:18if they're gonna advance through the playoffs,
- 16:21but he's done what he needs to do and I'm very
- 16:24happy for that guy because he's had up and downs,
- 16:28man. And I like to see him play well as a player.
- 16:33And I'm glad he was actually able to put it together.
- 16:35It was just unfortunate that it was against my
- 16:37team. But yeah, man, like you said, you already
- 16:40did a lot of your breakdowns and stuff, but just
- 16:43kind of overall, how'd you feel about it? So
- 16:46I'm going to summarize. So there's a lot of blame
- 16:49to go around. So anybody that's mad that hurts
- 16:52through that interception, he's only got two.
- 16:55He was just trying something. Nothing else was
- 16:58working. He thought throw it up, see if AJ get
- 17:00it. Didn't happen. They they shot themselves
- 17:04in the foot because they did get a turnover with
- 17:07the interception And then they fumbled on the
- 17:09tush push and again as I mentioned in my video
- 17:11the tush push is dead So come up with something
- 17:16else and I know that's asking for a lot for this
- 17:18offense and these coach this coaching staff to
- 17:20be creative Offensively because again, they are
- 17:24vanilla Yeah, it's pretty simple though If you
- 17:27watch if you watch the game late in the game
- 17:29and you say, you know, and again go back to my
- 17:32video Just give AJ Brown the ball. It's not hard.
- 17:36He is a top receiver. It works. Give him the
- 17:41ball. Other things I've noticed. Jalen Hurts
- 17:45is running less this season. About half. Compared
- 17:51to the last probably three, four seasons. I think
- 17:55that matters in their offense. They should blitz
- 17:58more on defense. That's all I'm gonna say about
- 18:00that. It's one game. I'm not dead on the defense
- 18:03that they just got the ball run up their gut.
- 18:06It is what it is. The Bears wanted it more. It
- 18:09was like I said, the only person who showed life
- 18:12in that game was AJ Brown. It was clear every
- 18:16Bears player wanted it more. Former Eagles, CJ
- 18:19Gardner Johnson wanted it more. The Eagles just
- 18:23look lifeless the whole game. Disappointed in
- 18:27that. And as you mentioned, they need to execute
- 18:29on offense. There's enough blame to go around
- 18:32for each game that they've played bad, even each
- 18:34game that they played and won. Again, you could
- 18:37go to the running game, you go to offensive line,
- 18:39you go to Jane LaHertz sometimes, Sirianni, Kevin
- 18:42Petula, receivers. There's not one thing, like
- 18:48you said, it's just something's not right. And
- 18:51for the Bears, good for them. They're the one
- 18:53seed now by default, we'll talk about why. And
- 18:57you know, they want some close games. Give them
- 18:59credit. You got to win however you do it. Do
- 19:03I still do I believe in them? And do I think,
- 19:05oh my God, they're going to win the Super Bowl?
- 19:07No, of course you don't. No, it goes like if
- 19:10he's I don't trust anybody. Well, and I'll say
- 19:13this just to kind of put a bow on this because
- 19:15I like the idea of springing this on you. You
- 19:18know, I like the spring shit on you, man. Live.
- 19:21I've got some news for you. It is involving your
- 19:25favorite OC, Kevin Patula. I don't know if you
- 19:29heard the news. Have you heard anything recent?
- 19:32Have you heard anything recently about he didn't
- 19:34get fired? He didn't quit. None of that. I didn't
- 19:36hear anything. And this just came out recently.
- 19:40And when I say recently, I mean, within the last
- 19:41few hours of this recording, apparently his house
- 19:44was egged. Nice. I promise you. I promise you.
- 19:49I've been in North Carolina this whole time.
- 19:51Yeah, so it wasn't you. It wasn't me. It wasn't
- 19:54me. There were reports cops were called over
- 19:58to his residence of people throwing things at
- 20:00his house. The accusations were that they were
- 20:02rocks and the police came out and said, nope,
- 20:04it was his home was just getting egged furiously.
- 20:07So just a little humor. I know you tried to call
- 20:10for that man's job at one point, but I just wanted
- 20:12to add some humor to it. I'm not going to say
- 20:14he didn't deserve to have his, you know, his,
- 20:17his house egged. You know, maybe it's just some,
- 20:19some playful pranks, but we know people in Philly
- 20:22were pretty upset with him. Let's go to the,
- 20:29the surprising to me, surprising Jacksonville
- 20:33Jaguars. So the Jaguars played the Tennessee
- 20:35Titans, which are terrible bad team. We know
- 20:39that, um, you know, drafted Cameron Ward. you
- 20:42know, he's struggling as a rookie quarterback,
- 20:45you know, had some injuries, was banged up, but
- 20:48Jacksonville Jaguars, sneaky good, you know,
- 20:51sneaky, you know, eight win football team, you
- 20:55know, leading their division. And I think we've
- 20:59seen them struggle enough, even in their wins
- 21:02this year, that they're one of these people,
- 21:04one of these teams that we don't trust. I know
- 21:07I don't. How do you feel about them and and I'm
- 21:10just gonna say specifically? Because he had a
- 21:13lot of hype coming in a lot And I think a lot
- 21:16of it may have been his look and the way he played
- 21:18in college. How do you feel about Trevor Lawrence?
- 21:22I don't know how to feel about Trevor Lawrence
- 21:24I really don't he's I mean, I think you do there's
- 21:29times you see him make amazing plays amazing
- 21:31passes And then there's other times you're just
- 21:34like this guy's the normal pick But as the Jaguars,
- 21:39like I said, they beat the Titans. That's the
- 21:41one team I think we all agree on that we don't
- 21:45trust them anyways, but we know they suck. There's
- 21:48no middle ground for the Tennessee Titans. The
- 21:51Jaguars are eight and four at the moment, and
- 21:55I would argue they might be 10 and two if they
- 21:57didn't have to go play overseas for two games.
- 22:00So I stand by that. That's a good point. They
- 22:05are the London Jaguars. I get it. I think one
- 22:10game was a home game, so they lost at least one
- 22:13home game, so maybe nine and three. They are
- 22:16what they are. Like you said, they are what their
- 22:17record is. Don't really trust them. It's a feel
- 22:20-good story. They bounced back from a bad year.
- 22:23Good new coach, new system. They added some pieces
- 22:27here recently with Jacoby Myers. So again, yeah,
- 22:31I mean could they win their division? Sure. Do
- 22:34I trust anybody out of that division? No, because
- 22:37as we said, we don't trust anybody. So again,
- 22:39I think they're just a feel -good story and a
- 22:42playoff birth would be, a playoff birth, a winning
- 22:46record would be a win for them this season. I
- 22:50agree with that. If they make a playoff, a playoff
- 22:53birth, I mean especially if they host a playoff
- 22:55game, wow. That would be massive for them as
- 22:58a franchise. I don't trust Trevor Lawrence. He's
- 23:02had some flashes the last couple of years where
- 23:04at the end of the year, he's been able to make
- 23:06some plays and win some big games for him. I
- 23:08think it was one game he threw four touchdowns
- 23:10in the second half. And like, you know, it's
- 23:13a, so we know he's got the potential, but I have,
- 23:17I haven't seen enough. You know, they've got
- 23:19Travis Hunter, haven't seen. Enough from that
- 23:24team to make me feel confident in them as a as
- 23:26a whole as a unit So, you know, I'm just I'm
- 23:30not I'm not gonna crap on them Their record is
- 23:33is strong and then like you said if they can
- 23:35host a playoff game or get into the playoffs
- 23:36at all It's a success for them because I don't
- 23:39think they had really high expectations Especially
- 23:42the way that their season kind of started out
- 23:43with the you know, kind of a bumpy rocky start
- 23:46So let's roll to another game let's talk about
- 23:50the Texans and the colts now again houston texas
- 23:56really sneaky seven win team seven and five the
- 24:01colts you know uh mr indiana jones himself danny
- 24:05dimes eight and four colts were playing great
- 24:09football coming out of the gate got a really
- 24:12big lead you know within their division and now
- 24:14they're just starting to slip showing us who
- 24:16we thought they were You know, watch Daniel Jones
- 24:19turn back into a pumpkin when he played the Steelers
- 24:21getting destroyed. The Texans are able to win
- 24:24these low scoring really close games. But from
- 24:27that matchup, how did you feel about it? Yeah,
- 24:32the Colts and Daniel Jones. Is there somebody
- 24:35I definitely don't trust now is Daniel Jones.
- 24:38And I don't trust the Colts anymore. They have
- 24:40a great running game. But again, you got to have
- 24:43quarterback. You got to have solid quarterback
- 24:45play. And they are falling so fast that now they're
- 24:51not even leading their division. The Texans,
- 24:54that defense is real, one of the best in the
- 24:57league. And they keep showing it week after week
- 24:59now, no matter who the quarterback is, right?
- 25:03That defense holds teams down and they find ways
- 25:06to win. They were a favorite, definitely my favorite
- 25:10coming into the season. I thought they were gonna
- 25:12build off their last season's success. They had
- 25:14some injuries, had stuff go on, drama. And I
- 25:19think now they're putting it together. You mentioned
- 25:21the Cowboys putting together right time. I think
- 25:22the Texans are putting it together at the right
- 25:24time. And again, they're on the way up, culture
- 25:27on the way down. And I just want to briefly mention,
- 25:30and we can maybe talk about this later with the
- 25:32Vikings, but I heard something today that said
- 25:34the Vikings next season, the only way to save
- 25:39and keep Justin Jefferson would be to sign Daniel
- 25:42Jones. or mac jones and i've never hated a take
- 25:48so bad in my life i mean the vikings if they're
- 25:54in real trouble if they're gonna ask daniel jones
- 25:56and mac jones to save their franchise but that's
- 25:59another conversation i don't trust daniel jones
- 26:02i do not no longer do i trust the colts i once
- 26:05believed in them and they have proven me wrong
- 26:08so i'm done with them i'm going to I'm going
- 26:16to give Daniel Jones another chance. I think
- 26:20that I think he was kind of riding high on the
- 26:23momentum that they had early in the season as
- 26:26a team. Taylor being there running back was kind
- 26:31of carrying the brunt for them. He slipped a
- 26:34little bit these last couple of games. I think
- 26:37their team is really good overall. And I think
- 26:40it's up to Daniel Jones. And by the way, it's
- 26:43a very interesting thing you said about Jalen
- 26:46Hurts not running as much. Daniel Jones doesn't
- 26:49run as much as he used to when he was with the
- 26:51Giants either. He's not running a lot as well.
- 26:54We know he's athletic. We know that dude's got
- 26:57wheels. It is weird. It's weird with Shane Steichen
- 26:59that he wouldn't be running Daniel Jones more.
- 27:02Correct. Because he had Jalen Hurts and he ran
- 27:05a lot. And I think it's maybe Maybe it's matchup
- 27:10based. Maybe it's, hey, he hasn't been having
- 27:13to run for them to win games. So why put him
- 27:15in a position where he may get dinged up? So,
- 27:18but I'm just saying we know that he's a capable
- 27:20running quarterback and I want to see him. I
- 27:24want to see him kind of step outside of that.
- 27:27And I think it adds an element to that Colts
- 27:29offense because when you got a quarterback that
- 27:31can run and a running back like Taylor that can
- 27:34run. I think it changes the dynamic on the defensive
- 27:37side where you make linebackers and DBs freeze,
- 27:40and you might be able to pick up another six
- 27:41or seven yards, whether it's up the middle or
- 27:43on the sideline. So I'm just going to throw that
- 27:46out there. That was just something that was peculiar
- 27:47that popped out to me, especially when you brought
- 27:50that up about Jalen Hurts earlier. So I'm going
- 27:54to talk about another game. and I'm going to
- 27:57switch things up just a little bit, but I'm just
- 27:59going to give you some stats. I'm not going to
- 28:00tell you which game or which teams I'm talking
- 28:02about. I'm just going to give you the stats really
- 28:04quick from this game. There was a game on Sunday.
- 28:10The quarterback for one team had 168 passing
- 28:14yards. The quarterback for the other team had
- 28:16149 passing yards. The running back for the first
- 28:21team had 53 rushing yards. The running back for
- 28:26the second team had 91 rushing yards. Tied in
- 28:31had 67 receiving yards for the first team. For
- 28:34the second team, the tight end had 43 receiving
- 28:37yards and a touchdown. Okay. Very, very, very
- 28:41comparable stats, right? For both teams. And
- 28:46by the way, both quarterbacks, both pass for
- 28:49one touchdown, no interceptions. However, one
- 28:53of them was the San Francisco 49ers. It scored
- 28:5526 points And the other was the Cleveland Browns.
- 28:59It scored eight points. That was my guess by
- 29:02the way I was sitting there thinking I was like
- 29:04it's got to be the Browns Niners It was it was
- 29:07such a weird game because the offensive production
- 29:10wasn't much But the 49ers were able to score
- 29:15enough in the second half to just kind of pull
- 29:18away from them And I'm not going to sit here
- 29:21and talk about Shidora. I am not going to overanalyze
- 29:24that dude in his second start as a football player
- 29:26playing against a legitimate team. I do want
- 29:29to focus on the 49ers now nine and four. Yeah.
- 29:34Okay. All right. In the NFC West, they have a
- 29:39decent defense and they're starting quarterback
- 29:43back. I still don't trust them. deep into a playoff
- 29:48run, especially when you'd look at any of the
- 29:51other matchups in the NFC. Hell, forget the NFC
- 29:55in their own division. If they were playing the
- 29:58Rams or if they were playing the Seahawks in
- 30:00a playoff game, I don't know who I would take.
- 30:04I still, I'd be more likely to bet on the Rams
- 30:06or to bet on the Seahawks than to take the 49ers.
- 30:09So it's kind of a coin flip. And look, nine wins
- 30:13is impressive at this point in the year, four
- 30:14losses. I'm pretty sure they'll round out with,
- 30:17you know, 11, maybe even 12 wins for the season,
- 30:21which is an impressive run, especially with the
- 30:23injuries that they've had. But how did you feel
- 30:25about it? Again, I don't want to go into the
- 30:28Shadoor thing. For him to match the offensive
- 30:31production as Brock Purdy did at his second start,
- 30:35I'm not going to knock him. But how did you feel
- 30:39about it? So the Niners are just well coached.
- 30:42They've got a lot of injuries to some key guys
- 30:45on defense. No Warner, no Bosa, and they're still
- 30:49producing. They still got McCaffrey. Purdy's
- 30:51back. He's been okay. He's been average. They
- 30:55still got Kittle. So they got enough weapons
- 30:57to win games in the regular season. I don't know
- 30:59if that can take you far in the playoffs. As
- 31:03far as the Browns, Shador, again, I expected
- 31:07a little bit. Not as good as game, right, against
- 31:09the Niners. Better team, better defense. He didn't
- 31:12play bad. Not his fault. The key stat in this
- 31:16game that I was looking at was the Cleveland
- 31:19Browns had two fumbles lost by receivers One
- 31:25by Harold Fanon jr. He had one fumble. We lost
- 31:28it and then the other one was gauge Lord Vaden,
- 31:33I don't know if that's it. I'm sorry if I meant
- 31:35didn't don't know his name because I never heard
- 31:37him till yesterday He fumbled three times and
- 31:40lost one. So I don't know how you fumble three
- 31:44times as a receiver, but he did it. But credit
- 31:48to the Niners winning this game, not getting
- 31:52destroyed by the Browns defense. They only had
- 31:55one sack and it was Myles Garrett. So I think
- 31:58that's a credit to the Niners offensive line,
- 32:00protecting Purdy. They did what they had to do,
- 32:03get it to McCaffrey, right? That's a good strategy.
- 32:08And then use the one good receiver that you got.
- 32:11or a few good receivers, not really. Like I said,
- 32:14they're missing guys. But yeah, I don't trust
- 32:16them as far as, like I said, they could win the
- 32:20division possibly. They could make the playoffs.
- 32:24But like I said, we don't trust anybody. I don't
- 32:27feel like they could just make a run to the Super
- 32:29Bowl. That would be one impressive run. And the
- 32:33Browns, again, like I said, Shador, not a bad
- 32:36start. He's gonna start again. That's about it.
- 32:40I mean I said he played he played solid good
- 32:42as any rookie could play against San Francisco
- 32:44That Browns defense just didn't do what it had
- 32:48been doing all season. Yeah, it had a letdown
- 32:50yesterday Got it. No, and I am I totally agree
- 32:54with that Good for them though. They've got they're
- 32:57getting the wins as they need You know, it's
- 33:00up to them to make it into the playoffs and to
- 33:02have a strong showing I just don't have faith
- 33:06in them. I don't trust them either the shocking
- 33:13Carolina Panthers who beat the Rams and I watched
- 33:18a lot of that game. I probably watched 80 % of
- 33:21that game and I can't lie, man. I was pretty
- 33:25damn impressed. I'm not, I've never been a huge
- 33:29fan of Bryce Young and it's not, it's not his
- 33:32fault. I mean, that he's undersized. I've talked
- 33:35about his lack of arm strength. The defense played
- 33:38great in that game. I mean, when you got your
- 33:40defense out there getting you six points, it
- 33:42does make things easier for you. It kind of relieves
- 33:45the pressure. So a lot of that is a credit to
- 33:49the defense, not just Bryce Young being able
- 33:51to throw for three touchdowns. But the Rams really
- 33:56missed an opportunity to kind of pull away in
- 33:59their division. We were just talking about the
- 34:02San Francisco 49ers. Now this division, it's
- 34:07a real competitive battle between the Tampa Bay
- 34:10Buccaneers and the Panthers. And the Panthers
- 34:13are playing great football. Bryce Young is not
- 34:18ruining the game. They're running games great.
- 34:22Their defense is okay. And, and I, I want to
- 34:28believe in them, but I remembered what they looked
- 34:31like at the beginning of the year. And this could
- 34:34be Fugazi. I don't, I can't bet any significant
- 34:38anything on the Panthers being a competent football
- 34:42team that just doesn't happen to get pick sixes
- 34:45and strip sacks, you know, for, you know, large,
- 34:48you know what I mean? I just, I can't count on
- 34:50that every game. So, you know, the Rams had to
- 34:53travel all the way from one side of the country
- 34:55to the other to play in that game. Maybe their
- 34:57best team just didn't show up, but credit to
- 34:59the Panthers for getting that win. But I think
- 35:02if any Panther fan, Within this zip code that
- 35:05I'm in is honest with themselves. They don't
- 35:08trust those motherfuckers either No, but the
- 35:11Panthers are showing us this year, you know one
- 35:14game they can look like they're all you know,
- 35:16they're unbeatable and they're They're you know
- 35:20on the rise and then the next week they lose
- 35:22to the Saints at home or they go to San Francisco
- 35:25and can't score and Bryce Young misses throws
- 35:28or things like that yesterday Bryce Young dropping
- 35:31them in there making the throws The Rams again,
- 35:35the weather maybe was a factor again all the
- 35:38way East Coast game. The weather was rainy cold.
- 35:42I don't know if that mattered. Stafford obviously
- 35:46he doubled his interception total for the season
- 35:48in one game and then had the fumble that pretty
- 35:51much lost the game. So he obviously had a bad
- 35:54game. Even on the one touchdown to Devonte Adams,
- 35:58he tried to no look and Devonte Adams had to
- 36:01catch it. It was low behind him at his feet,
- 36:03and he still caught it. So he made that play.
- 36:06The defense for the Panthers down JC Horn in
- 36:09that game, that worried me. And credit, again,
- 36:12them guys stepped up. Guys who never had gotten
- 36:15to play a lot come in, get a sack, make a tackle.
- 36:19Mike Jackson with the pick six. Derrick Brown,
- 36:23big sack, big batted ball that ended up being
- 36:26an interception. So this is like, this game to
- 36:30me was Kind of what we're talking about. This
- 36:33is the NFL in a nutshell this season in this
- 36:35game. The Panthers week to week, we don't know.
- 36:38They're unpredictable. They truly are. They can
- 36:41win in Lambeau, beat the Rams, but then again
- 36:43lose to the Saints at home. Correct. Or get blown
- 36:47out every other week, right? Early in the season.
- 36:51or blow out a team. Yeah, or destroy the Cowboys.
- 36:56No, I know what you mean. It's hard to tell,
- 36:59man. They are truly week to week. You do not
- 37:01know what team you're going to get. And the Rams,
- 37:06again, that's just this season, right? You see
- 37:09this great team who we think is the Super Bowl
- 37:11favorite, and they go in and they lose to the
- 37:15Carolina Panthers. So they lose their one seed.
- 37:19The Bears have it now. So again, this is truly
- 37:22like said this game to me of all the games this
- 37:25week was was like this is the NFL in a nutshell
- 37:27right here Well, I'll say this and it's a it's
- 37:32a terrible equivalency, but I'm gonna go with
- 37:34it anyway If you took if you took the Panthers
- 37:37and made them less talented at their skill positions
- 37:42They are the Philadelphia Eagles You don't know
- 37:48what you're gonna get They're actually better
- 37:50than the Philadelphia Eagles offensively. We're
- 37:52not going to play that game. I said that yesterday.
- 37:54I'm not going to give you that. They're drawing
- 37:55up some very creative plays to get the first
- 37:59down on fourth downs. They don't just say push
- 38:02our quarterback. Yeah, I'm not giving you that.
- 38:06That's OK. I'm going to pretend that we didn't
- 38:09hear that. Let's roll to the next game. Another
- 38:15great, great team. record wise that we still
- 38:19don't trust. And it's tough. It's tough when
- 38:23you go and you beat another team in your conference
- 38:26and you blank them 26 to nothing. And, you know,
- 38:33you still don't trust them because Sam Darnold
- 38:36has shown what he's always been as an up and
- 38:40down quarterback. When you're watching the Seahawks,
- 38:44Beat the Vikings a hurt Vikings team, you know
- 38:48without their their actual starting quarterback
- 38:50it It was very unimpressive showing and you know,
- 38:56they wanted at home You know, the Vikings were
- 38:59just giving the ball away I don't know if you
- 39:01saw it like it was the the interceptions that
- 39:03were thrown at the fumbles that happened in that
- 39:06game were horrific it was Middle school football
- 39:10at its finest from the Minnesota Vikings And
- 39:14even though the Seahawks look good doing it,
- 39:16have a record of nine and three at the at the
- 39:18moment, I still don't trust them because I don't
- 39:21know what Sam Darnold is going to do when it
- 39:23comes to playoff time. And, you know, at nine
- 39:26and three at this point in the year is a fantastic
- 39:29record. Four and two at home. We know that stadium
- 39:32super loud. I mean, what do you got, man? It's
- 39:36just it's they're they're underwhelming to me.
- 39:39Yeah, I don't trust Sam Darnold. You know that.
- 39:43Seattle, they got a pretty good team though.
- 39:45Young coach, he's kind of changed everything
- 39:47there. But of course he picked up whatever Pete
- 39:49Carroll had built. They switched a few things.
- 39:52Now they've put all their faith in Sam Darnold.
- 39:55And as I keep saying, you're only good as your
- 39:57quarterback, I think, in the playoffs. And I
- 39:59don't know if, I don't trust Sam Darnold. So
- 40:04I don't know if you get into the playoffs later.
- 40:07Will he cower down like he did last year? That's
- 40:11up for debate and we shall see but again don't
- 40:14trust the Seahawks And as far to Vikings, this
- 40:17is what they get we we spoke about this like
- 40:20early episode, right? I talked about this. They
- 40:22had no planet quarterback this season They had
- 40:26they weren't good with JJ McCarthy they weren't
- 40:29good with Carson Wentz and they really weren't
- 40:32good with Max Brosmer for interceptions And of
- 40:38course he had as they said the his will levis
- 40:40a moment where he just flips the ball to absolutely
- 40:44nobody and it's a pick six Underhand side over
- 40:48his head hook shot Try to pass to get rid of
- 40:51the ball while he's been sacked one of the dumbest
- 40:54interceptions you'll ever see And again his first
- 40:58start So maybe he gets better who knows? But
- 41:03that's the Vikings and as I mentioned earlier
- 41:06I don't know who said it, but they said that
- 41:09again, Daniel Jones or Mac Jones would save this
- 41:12team and Justin Jefferson from wanting to be
- 41:14traded. I don't think those are the answers either.
- 41:19But they have fumbled the quarterback position
- 41:22and they get what they deserve. I don't know
- 41:25if it costs the coach the job, but because again,
- 41:29he's not the one making these decisions. So they
- 41:33get what they get, they're done. Yeah. You know,
- 41:36so we definitely don't trust them. And as we
- 41:38say, we don't trust the Seahawks either. No.
- 41:41And I was just going to say, I'm going to say
- 41:43that Brosner is the new Nathan Peterman. I don't
- 41:46see him recovering from this. It was such a bad
- 41:48showing. He panicked out there as a quarterback.
- 41:52He showed that when you bring pressure, he loses
- 41:56his mind. I'm just going to throw the ball away
- 41:59for a pick six was the dumbest thing I've seen
- 42:02in a very long time. And I don't know if he was
- 42:07unprepared, but I feel like they should have
- 42:09ran some safer sets for him, maybe to protect
- 42:12him from himself. But we'll see. I have no sympathy
- 42:17for them either. Let's move to the next game.
- 42:22Another team, High Hopes. I had this guy as the
- 42:26best quarterback in the league, Josh Allen. They
- 42:30were able to go into Pittsburgh and beat the
- 42:32Steelers. That was mainly to, you know, the credit
- 42:35of Aaron Rodgers with, you know, playing hurt.
- 42:38I saw that shot that he took live and I thought
- 42:42he was done for the night. Like it was, it was
- 42:44a, it was a bad shot and it was the worst one.
- 42:47And I always hear, um, I'm trying to remember
- 42:50who that was that said it. They always say like
- 42:53it did from a defensive player perspective is
- 42:56the favorite hit where, you know, you, where
- 42:58your eyes get wide and you can square a guy up.
- 43:01and take a shot at him, and it's a clean legal
- 43:04hit, and he never sees it coming. Aaron Rodgers
- 43:07had no idea that his knight was about to go that
- 43:10way. Busted his face up. Hurt is already, you
- 43:13know, fractured arm. Obviously, he's off his
- 43:15left arm, his non -passing arm. But the Bills
- 43:18were able to get a win. They're now eight and
- 43:20four. And I think we all know that that game
- 43:23would have been more competitive for Aaron Rodgers
- 43:25with healthy. So, you know, it kind of, even
- 43:28though the Bills played well and Josh Allen was
- 43:31a man out there doing what he needed to do to
- 43:34score those touchdowns, I still don't think that
- 43:37we fully trust them. Go ahead and tell me that
- 43:39you trust the Bills. No, I still don't trust
- 43:42the Buffalo Bills because they beat the Pittsburgh
- 43:44Steelers. I don't care about that. The Steelers
- 43:47are what we, you know, they're 500 now. Aaron
- 43:51Rodgers, you know, again, a little banged up.
- 43:55I don't know if that mattered. Their second receiver,
- 44:00leading receiver is Kenneth Gamewell. They've
- 44:03done nothing to get another receiver on that
- 44:05football team. You just can't win like that.
- 44:09Their defense again, they've showed they can
- 44:12play tough one week and the next week, get exposed.
- 44:16Definitely don't trust the Steelers. And they
- 44:20did come to my mind today when I saw that Adam
- 44:22Thielen got waved by the Vikings so he could
- 44:25try to get. on a team that he'd get more use
- 44:29out of them. And I thought of the Steelers. I'm
- 44:32like, yeah, please sign Adam Thielen. Give Aaron
- 44:35Rodgers another receiver who knows how to run
- 44:37routes and get open. Because Rodgers threw his
- 44:41receivers under the bus yesterday talking about
- 44:43they don't watch film so they don't know where
- 44:45to go. And I just like watching the Steelers
- 44:49because Aaron Rodgers looks like an angry old
- 44:52man. He yells at somebody every game and it makes
- 44:54me laugh. So that keeps me entertained when I
- 44:58watch the Steelers. I just watch so Aaron Rodgers
- 45:01will yell at somebody for not doing something
- 45:03right. But yeah, they should sign Adam Thielen.
- 45:08And again, the Bills, a good win for the Buffalo
- 45:10Bills by the way. So they bounce back nice. That's
- 45:13a tough place to play. I think they broke the
- 45:15record for an opposing team's rushing yards in
- 45:18that stadium. So good for Buffalo, bad for the
- 45:23Steelers. And as we just keep saying, we don't
- 45:26trust either one. Yeah. Not the only record that
- 45:30was broken. Josh Allen broke Cam Newton's Russian
- 45:33record. Yes, he did. So that was another record
- 45:35that was broken. And there was no record broken.
- 45:41Actually, you know what? There may be a record
- 45:42broken when it comes to Aaron Rodgers blaming
- 45:44someone else for the fact that the team didn't
- 45:47play well. That seems to track. And I'm not shocked
- 45:52by that in any form, shape or fashion. That's
- 45:55what Aaron Rodgers does. And if I had to argue
- 45:57it, I could probably make a strong point that
- 46:00that's what he does best, especially at this
- 46:02point in his career. And we can move on. And
- 46:06by the way, I mean, we're sitting here, we're
- 46:09talking about this, right? But back to the Vikings,
- 46:13they had a little conversation about Aaron Rodgers
- 46:15and they chose not to sign him. There you go,
- 46:18and I and I swore like and I think I made that
- 46:20statement to you You know as we talked in the
- 46:23offseason was I thought like Viking sign Air
- 46:26Rogers, man That's a game changer that puts them
- 46:29in Super Bowl game changer because again, they
- 46:31do have weapons. They do have receivers Yeah,
- 46:36well and well and it's like you have to think
- 46:38about But I think it would have been great a
- 46:41great football move like as a team move But I
- 46:45think him going to the Steelers and having a
- 46:49strong, cemented head coach like Mike Tomlin
- 46:53was probably going to be best for him because
- 46:56I could see him having his feet up on anyone's
- 46:59desk right now in Minnesota if he was a Viking.
- 47:02But so I'm just going to stick with, you know,
- 47:05I do remember you saying that. And I think you're
- 47:08right. It would have been a good move, but there
- 47:10was something that happened where the Vikings
- 47:11are like, nah, you know what? We're just going
- 47:13to roll our dice with JJ McCarthy. We don't want
- 47:16to, you don't want to soil this and actually
- 47:18give ourselves a chance with Aaron Rodgers. No,
- 47:20like I said, they, they, they made their bed.
- 47:22Now they're laying in it. And I know not, uh,
- 47:25yeah, Rogers, I think it's a good decision to
- 47:26go to Pittsburgh. I just think they need to give
- 47:29them another receiver. I, I, I think I'm not
- 47:36going to give Aaron Rogers that out. I'm just
- 47:39not. It can't all fall on your receivers every
- 47:43damn time. He's been doing this since he was
- 47:45a Packer. But they have DK Metcalf, that's it,
- 47:49and a bunch of big fat tight ends. Well, and
- 47:52I'll say this, this is no disrespect to Metcalf,
- 47:55but he hasn't been that great of a wide receiver
- 47:59for quite some time. And that's fine. He's got
- 48:01a great name, and his body is chiseled out of
- 48:04granite, and that's about it. Yeah, his productivity
- 48:08has taken a dive. He hasn't been a great wide
- 48:11receiver. So I know we'd like to kind of think
- 48:13of him as at his best. He's not that and neither
- 48:16is Aaron Rodgers as a 40 something year old banged
- 48:19up quarterback who's not going to get better
- 48:21throughout the rest of this year. I got you.
- 48:27Let's grow. We're almost closing out here. Chargers,
- 48:31Raiders. We know the Raiders think. We can go
- 48:33ahead and get rid of that. Um, but you know,
- 48:35so the charges were able to beat them, you know,
- 48:38at home, you know, uh, you know, Justin Herbert
- 48:41had a, had a pretty good game balled out, but
- 48:45I think that's always going to be kind of the
- 48:47story with Justin Herbert. What can he do? You
- 48:49know, they kind of, you know, crown him as the
- 48:52next big thing. You know, all the coaches loved
- 48:54them. All the GMs loved, Oh, Justin, her, Oh,
- 48:57if I could start a franchise today, I'm taking
- 48:59Justin Herbert. and you know what happens is
- 49:01they play well they kind of lose steam toward
- 49:04the end of the season and then they fizzle out
- 49:06into playoffs even if they make it so um i think
- 49:09you share kind of some of the same sentiments
- 49:12do you agree yeah as i always say justin herbert
- 49:15is the most overrated player in the nfl and it
- 49:20wouldn't matter who played the raiders this week
- 49:22i would have said i'm not impressed by your victory
- 49:26so on to the next one I don't trust the Chargers
- 49:31just like everybody else and especially after
- 49:34they beat the Raiders on to the next game on
- 49:38to the next one so let's go to the last one I
- 49:43got right here so let's go Broncos commanders
- 49:45now we know that Bo Nicks up and down here they
- 49:52were able to squeak out a one -point win on the
- 49:55road against, you know, Marcus Mariota, who I
- 49:58like as a quarterback. He is, he's, he's consistent.
- 50:01You know what you're going to get out of him.
- 50:03He's going to make some mistakes, but I don't
- 50:06feel like he loses you football games. And the
- 50:09Broncos are now currently sitting with 10 wins
- 50:12and two losses, but I don't, their, their running
- 50:20game is atrocious. Their defense. Will I feel
- 50:26like there's some college teams that could put
- 50:28up points on their on their defense and And for
- 50:31Bo Knicks to have a good showing I'm sorry say
- 50:36that again The Broncos I Feel like there are
- 50:44some college teams that can put some points up
- 50:46on them. Yes, I do I do I mean for you for you
- 50:50to have the commanders Put up 26 points on you
- 50:53with Marcus Mariota. No running game. Marcus
- 50:57Mariota had the most rushing yards on that team.
- 51:00Okay. Like there, there's holes, there's holes
- 51:03there for that team. And, and I feel like, and
- 51:08we've talked about it. I feel like there hadn't
- 51:10been a luckier quarterback all season than Bo
- 51:13Nicks, man. He has lucked his way into so many
- 51:17wins that I feel like they should, that should
- 51:19have been losses. I mean, I know it sounds like
- 51:25hate, but I got to go with what I see. I have
- 51:27to trust my eyes. And like, you know, watching
- 51:30NFL football is one of the rare things that you
- 51:32can watch that isn't AI generated. And I know
- 51:35what I see from Bo Nix. And he's not a great
- 51:40quarterback. And unfortunately, that's what the
- 51:43NFL is based around, like a solid veteran quarterback.
- 51:50I know what I see from them. I'm not comfortable
- 51:53with them. You tell me how you feel. I do think
- 51:56he's scrappy. And I just want to break up with
- 52:01the Broncos real quick against teams that we
- 52:04may say, eh, I don't know about that. Eight point
- 52:08win against the Titans. They did win. They did
- 52:13beat the Eagles, but I'm not going to count the
- 52:14Eagles as a bad team. Not right now. A two point
- 52:17win against the Jets. a one -point win against
- 52:20the Giants, a three -point win against the Texans,
- 52:24which Texans, as we said, are pretty good now.
- 52:26They're getting there, right? Three -point win
- 52:29against the Raiders, three -point win against
- 52:31the Chiefs, and a one -point win against the
- 52:33Commanders. Sounds like a quarterback that's
- 52:36looking his way into getting wins, right? Yeah,
- 52:39like I said, he's made the play, so I'm gonna
- 52:41give him credit. Like some of those games, he
- 52:43made the drive, he made the plays. Their defense
- 52:46is pretty good. Like I said, they lead the league
- 52:47in sacks, but I can see where you look at some
- 52:50of these games, you're like, but how do they
- 52:52give up these points to these teams, right? What'd
- 52:55you say? Well, is it 26 to Washington? 32 to
- 52:58New York Colts Giants yeah Giants 24 to the Cowboys
- 53:02Yeah, like even when they were running away with
- 53:04those games. They were still giving up point
- 53:05So, you know, so so that's what I mean, like
- 53:07so we could talk about their defense has moments
- 53:09But that's what I said when I said that about
- 53:12a college I feel like a college team could put
- 53:14up points on them you can score and get some
- 53:16points on them and They are looking their way
- 53:20into these wins. Look man Their win streak is
- 53:23impressive, dude. Like, it's a lot of wins that
- 53:26they've been able to streak together, and wins
- 53:27are hard to get in the NFL. But when it comes
- 53:30down to, hey, now the only thing that's left
- 53:33on your schedule are killers? You're not banking
- 53:36on the Broncos, dude. You're not trusting Bo
- 53:39Nicks. No, it's going to really depend. Like
- 53:42I said, we don't trust them. I don't care what
- 53:44their record is, and especially when you look
- 53:46at that. And again, the goal is to win football
- 53:48games. And they can keep telling me that it's
- 53:50the National Football League any week, you never
- 53:52know. But they have won close games, they have
- 53:57gotten those late field goals, late stops to
- 54:02win the game. So credit there, but that doesn't
- 54:05make me trust you, not when it comes to the playoffs.
- 54:08Not when it comes to playing another another
- 54:11team that's probably superior. But again, it
- 54:14really would depend on who gets into playoffs
- 54:15and what seeds you are. Is it a home game? All
- 54:18that's going to really, really matter this year.
- 54:24Yeah, let's go to the Cincinnati Bengals and
- 54:27the Baltimore Ravens. They closed it out with
- 54:29the nightcap on Thanksgiving and this game did
- 54:34not go the way that I wanted it to go. It did
- 54:36not go the way that I thought it would go. I
- 54:38had the Ravens in the Super Bowl. And with Lamar
- 54:42Jackson coming, yeah, it's ugly. And with Joe
- 54:47Burrow returning, I figured he would have a kind
- 54:50of a warm up game. But they showed out, man,
- 54:53beating Baltimore 32 to 14. And even though we
- 54:57know that offense is electric, and clearly their
- 55:00defense played better enough to stifle that Ravens
- 55:04high powered offense. Even if they played well
- 55:07and won out the rest of the season I don't think
- 55:09you'd have a lot of confidence in them as a as
- 55:12a team going into the playoffs But to me that
- 55:14this was a story about the Ravens like this was
- 55:16a chance for them to just kind of cement themselves
- 55:18Get them over the hump after having that string
- 55:21of losses with Lamar Lamar Jackson being injured
- 55:24But yeah, but just what are your thoughts? How
- 55:27did you feel about it? I? Was super surprised
- 55:30that the Bengals won like that not surprised
- 55:33they won division game You know Thursday night
- 55:37But you know the way they won how the score in
- 55:41Baltimore But again credit to Joe burrow he came
- 55:44back looked like he never left and Lamar Jackson,
- 55:47you know, it's taking them it's taking some games
- 55:49to battle back from the injury and If we're really
- 55:54being honest about the Ravens I mean, they've
- 55:56not looked right all season put them in that
- 55:58category with the Chiefs the Bills the Eagles
- 56:01who these are probably like some of the teams
- 56:03These are our favorites so they just just something's
- 56:07off with these teams and Once again, we don't
- 56:11trust any of them The Bengals would have to go
- 56:13on one hell of a run to get in the playoffs and
- 56:16win that division But I would say the divisions
- 56:18up for grabs It's getting less and less each
- 56:21week now because the games are getting less,
- 56:22but they're all right there I don't trust any
- 56:26of them. I don't trust either team one of these
- 56:28teams now I don't care if the Ravens would get
- 56:30in I still don't trust them They just just something
- 56:34is off And my big take here is that whoever wins
- 56:39this division, the AFC North, they're gonna backpedal
- 56:43their way into the playoffs. And then I also
- 56:46expect multiple 500 record teams to win a division.
- 56:53I think it's like the NFC South, the AFC South
- 56:57possibly, and the AFC North. probably least on
- 57:02the AFC South. I think they'll be fine. But yeah,
- 57:06that NFC South and AFC North, both of those divisions,
- 57:11I think a 500 team or one game above will win.
- 57:15We'll make a playoff appearance. Yeah. I mean,
- 57:16it's - We'll win the division. It's going to
- 57:20be like - It's tough. It's that close, man. Yeah,
- 57:22it's really that close. Yeah. Yeah. And it's
- 57:25unfortunate because like you said, all those
- 57:27teams had the potential. to really pull away.
- 57:30They've had the opportunities to just make a
- 57:32name for themselves and pull away from everyone.
- 57:34And they just have it. All of them have fallen
- 57:36flat in games that they feel like we all feel
- 57:39like they should have won. But you know, that's
- 57:42just the way this entire season's going. It is,
- 57:44it's been a consistent theme every week when
- 57:47we sit here and talk about these teams. It's
- 57:49like, what the hell is happening? And I'm just
- 57:52glad that I'm not a gambler. I'm not one of those
- 57:54guys. So I'm watching the games. It makes my
- 57:57head hurt sometimes, but at least I'm not losing
- 57:59any money or any sleep. All right. So yeah. So
- 58:06lastly, we'll just cut this off talking about
- 58:08the Patriots. They're on a hell of a winning
- 58:11streak themselves. Um, uh, they're at the recording
- 58:14of this podcast are going to play the giants.
- 58:17Um, my expectation is that they'll win that game
- 58:19too. And You know, looking at their wins, looking
- 58:23at their quarterback play, looking at their running
- 58:26game, looking at their defense, looking at their
- 58:29schedule, looking at the division that they're
- 58:31in, their record should be impressive as a team
- 58:35with 10 wins and two losses. And I still don't
- 58:39trust them. And it's sad because some of this
- 58:42is kind of some of the leftover lingering Belichick
- 58:46Tom Brady hate. And I am mad enough to admit
- 58:49that. But at the same time, like I said, there's
- 58:52always a discomfort that comes with professional
- 58:54football to where we kind of have to see you
- 58:57do it before we trust you. And I haven't seen
- 59:00this regime do it. I do think they're a well
- 59:03-run organization with great coaching and clearly
- 59:05they've got great players and they know how to
- 59:07put wins together. But they're not a good enough
- 59:12team in my eyes for my money. and I know it sounds
- 59:16ridiculous. You know, with the team that's got
- 59:19two losses early in the year, it sounds as if,
- 59:21yeah, two losses early in the year and they've
- 59:24been clicking ever since. I still have to see
- 59:28it in order for me to believe it. It's unfair,
- 59:32but you know, sue me. Kent, I'm curious if you
- 59:36feel the same way. Yeah, I do. They're very comparable
- 59:44to the Broncos That they're both up there and
- 59:48ranking up there in their record Their games
- 59:53you don't take them It's because of who they
- 59:55beat and how they beat them that you you don't
- 59:58want to just go full in on them But I could see
- 1:00:01I could see the Patriots going on run I'm not
- 1:00:05saying they are I'm just saying, you know some
- 1:00:07years you have that team that comes out of nowhere
- 1:00:09that improves Just drastically from the season
- 1:00:14before and the set the reason I say that about
- 1:00:16the Patriots is that they had the cap space They
- 1:00:19added the pieces. They added the coach Again,
- 1:00:22we talked about coaching matters Not that I trust
- 1:00:26them but I could see them doing more damage than
- 1:00:31as we say like the Denver Broncos and You mentioned
- 1:00:34they play the Giants tonight and we know the
- 1:00:36Giants seasons done but I can't remember if I
- 1:00:40sent y 'all this but I saw a meme and it was
- 1:00:43a great idea. If you watched the Lions Giants
- 1:00:46a few weeks ago, Jameis Winston catching a touchdown
- 1:00:48pass. So the idea was that Jameis Winston, the
- 1:00:53NFL should make him the backup quarterback for
- 1:00:55every team. That way we get to see his greatness
- 1:01:00all the time. You never know where you're gonna
- 1:01:04get to get Jameis Winston and he is just... It's
- 1:01:09just magic to watch him on the field. He's entertaining.
- 1:01:13He's just got that personality. Great locker
- 1:01:16room guy. His teammates love him. Yeah, again,
- 1:01:19he's not a bad player. Again, he really isn't.
- 1:01:23But watching him catch a pass and then fight
- 1:01:25off the defender to get the touchdown, that was
- 1:01:28amazing. He still gives you the bad passes, but
- 1:01:32that's what you get with him. you know you take
- 1:01:34the good and the bad but yeah make james winston
- 1:01:36the backup quarterback for every team i'm i'll
- 1:01:39sign off on that that would be awesome no good
- 1:01:42deal um yeah and i and the one thing i'll say
- 1:01:45i am going to i'll take a step back from my uh
- 1:01:51patriot's hate you know that's you know been
- 1:01:54been formed over the last few decades and the
- 1:01:57one thing i will say about them is out of every
- 1:01:59single team in the league They are without a
- 1:02:03doubt the most consistent team this season You
- 1:02:07know what you're going to get from them now.
- 1:02:10I still don't trust them but Like you said if
- 1:02:14they were to advance it wouldn't shock me It
- 1:02:18would it just it wouldn't it's just hard for
- 1:02:20me to see it. So go out show me Win the games,
- 1:02:25you know win them in impressive fashion and fashion
- 1:02:27control the clock move the ball Sure, I'll take
- 1:02:32it. But they've been more consistent than any
- 1:02:35other team, teams with veterans, veteran teams,
- 1:02:38veteran coaches, you know, veteran front offices.
- 1:02:42So I'm going to give them their flowers there.
- 1:02:44But unfortunately, you know, I put them in the
- 1:02:46same bucket. I still don't trust them. Yep. And
- 1:02:50again, I know we've done these episodes each
- 1:02:52week and it may seem the same, but it's really
- 1:02:55not like we like, we like to break down each
- 1:02:58week. these teams and where they stand and we
- 1:03:00kind of been making picks and I think we're on
- 1:03:03the same like I said we're on the same page now
- 1:03:05week 13 and we don't trust anybody DTA don't
- 1:03:10trust anybody I'm not ready to make a pick on
- 1:03:14anybody now yeah I agree and I can't and I can't
- 1:03:17even say even when playoff seedings are solidified
- 1:03:21again it'll be one of the riskiest times ever
- 1:03:24that I can think of people when it's like, well,
- 1:03:25you actually have to make picks and there are
- 1:03:28stakes involved. It's going to be tough. It's
- 1:03:30going to be tough for everybody. Let's talk some
- 1:03:37college football. And the story is, you know,
- 1:03:43it's all Lane Kiffin. Now, there's a lot of there's
- 1:03:46a lot of things. And this is what I love about
- 1:03:48the story is that it's kind of been building
- 1:03:50for the last couple of weeks. you know, um, Ole
- 1:03:53Miss head coach and you know, they're having
- 1:03:55a really good season. He's, he's outperformed
- 1:03:58what he's done. And, but Lane Kiffin is one of
- 1:04:00the rare college football coaching personalities.
- 1:04:04That's actually a personality, which, uh, which
- 1:04:08to me is incredibly refreshing. I like that.
- 1:04:11But, um, he's ruffled a lot of feathers. He's
- 1:04:14getting a lot of hell for his departure from
- 1:04:17Ole Miss, how he's leaving them to go be there,
- 1:04:20to accept the position as the head coach at LSU.
- 1:04:24And you had some takes on it. I've got some stuff
- 1:04:26that we haven't really had a chance to discuss,
- 1:04:29but I'm going to let you go ahead and just lead
- 1:04:31into Lane Kiffin and I'll try to close it out.
- 1:04:35Yeah. So, so this is, you know, and if you've
- 1:04:37watched any TV, you see the same kind of the
- 1:04:39same thoughts on some of it. Some of it's on
- 1:04:42college football. And as we know in the NCAA,
- 1:04:45they they know how to screw some stuff up. They
- 1:04:46do it in basketball. They do it in football.
- 1:04:48They have these weird rules, these weird timelines.
- 1:04:52So they've, you know, I think recruiting they
- 1:04:55could start like two days. So that put a little
- 1:04:58pressure on Lane Kiffin to make this decision.
- 1:05:02But again, his history makes him look like he
- 1:05:06looks right. He went to he was at Tennessee for
- 1:05:10one season. And then he left, right? Went to
- 1:05:15USC. Thought that was the better job, right?
- 1:05:18He had worked there before. Didn't work out so
- 1:05:21great at USC. So then he ended up as a coordinator,
- 1:05:25offensive coordinator at Alabama. Then he got
- 1:05:28the Florida Atlantic job. Then he had proven
- 1:05:31himself. So he got the Ole Miss job, turned that
- 1:05:35program around. And like you said, they are in
- 1:05:39the playoff this year. And with it being 12 teams,
- 1:05:43they could win the national championship. And
- 1:05:45that's what makes this story so interesting,
- 1:05:49is that it was a tough decision for him, I'm
- 1:05:52sure. Sure, right? I mean, he's having to say,
- 1:05:55he was trying to be able to go to LSU, but also
- 1:05:59want to coach Ole Miss. And Ole Miss is just
- 1:06:02like, no, you're not gonna go to our arrival,
- 1:06:05and we're gonna let you stay on and coach our
- 1:06:06team in the playoff. So I understand that. And
- 1:06:10I understand he was trying to do whatever, and
- 1:06:12he's trying to blame who he blames. Look, he
- 1:06:16made a decision, right? They say LSU's one of
- 1:06:18the top coaching jobs in the country. So he got
- 1:06:21it. He made his decision. Call it what you want.
- 1:06:27I would call it like, yeah, but like you literally
- 1:06:30have a shot to win with Ole Miss. You only got
- 1:06:33one loss. So yeah, it's just a tough one. Because
- 1:06:40also you look at it on the LSU side and you can
- 1:06:44say, what is it about Lane Kiffin? You just fired
- 1:06:48Brian Kelly, who had actually coached in a national
- 1:06:51championship with Notre Dame. You fired him because
- 1:06:55he wasn't getting it done. The last time again,
- 1:06:58Lane Kiffin had a top job was at USC. Now that's
- 1:07:03been over 10 years ago, but it didn't work out.
- 1:07:07So maybe he has grown as a coach. Maybe you think
- 1:07:10he is the answer after being at Alabama under
- 1:07:12Saban, doing what he's doing at Ole Miss. Maybe
- 1:07:15he's going to do the same at LSU. It is a top
- 1:07:19job. They do, you know, a lot of coaches win
- 1:07:22there, no matter who coaches there, right, except
- 1:07:24Brian Kelly. But, you know, they win national
- 1:07:27championships, so maybe it will work out. I think
- 1:07:29he's in a tough spot. I think it's just a bad
- 1:07:32look. I think the playoff now with 12 teams the
- 1:07:35timeline of NCAA It's just a little bit of a
- 1:07:40bad look that you know you have to leave a team
- 1:07:42that you've worked so hard to build at Ole Miss
- 1:07:46and now you're in the playoff and you anybody's
- 1:07:49got a shot in the playoff and And you have to
- 1:07:53leave them high and dry to go get your better
- 1:07:55job so That's all I got. I mean like I said,
- 1:08:01it's a it's a dirty business that college college
- 1:08:03sports these days It is a dirty business and
- 1:08:06that's why when we did our episode Weeks ago
- 1:08:09about NIL. I always made it clear that this is
- 1:08:12why I never cared when anybody talked about coaches
- 1:08:14because this is the type of shit that they do
- 1:08:17and Lane kiffin is an outlier in a lot of ways
- 1:08:20I feel like some other coaches there have been
- 1:08:22some coaches who've done things similar and there's
- 1:08:25also been some there's been coaches who've done
- 1:08:28things similar and then there's coaches that
- 1:08:31do things in a more classy you know fashion where
- 1:08:34maybe they try to keep the rumblings and the
- 1:08:36whispers down but keep in mind that the reason
- 1:08:39why this thing got as messy as it did was because
- 1:08:42he had multiple options this wasn't just the
- 1:08:45lsu job it was also the florida job and he was
- 1:08:49pretty much pitting the two against each other
- 1:08:50i'm not going to say he necessarily made it a
- 1:08:53bidding war but those are two premier top tier
- 1:08:57college football coaching jobs. OK. And he, for
- 1:09:02the most part, had his pick if he wanted to go
- 1:09:04to Florida. If he really wanted to go to Florida,
- 1:09:06he could have went to Florida and we could be
- 1:09:08having this conversation about Florida as opposed
- 1:09:10to LSU. But I'm going to flip this because I
- 1:09:13want to have fun with this. And I'm just curious
- 1:09:16if you heard of a reporter by the name of Ben
- 1:09:18Garrett, does that name sound familiar to you
- 1:09:20at all? No. Of course not. Ben Garrett is a reporter
- 1:09:26who covers Ole Miss football. And this is our
- 1:09:30medium. It's our wheelhouse. We're podcasters.
- 1:09:33And Ben Garrett said in a podcast, quote, in
- 1:09:37regards to Lane Kiffin, you can't turn a ho into
- 1:09:40a housewife. Hoes don't act right. Okay? That's
- 1:09:46what he said on a podcast. Now, of course, after
- 1:09:48the game, Lane Kiffin approaches this gentleman
- 1:09:52and gets in his face, literally, face to face,
- 1:09:58and says, oh, you're going to call me a hoe?
- 1:10:00Well, why don't you meet me in the back and call
- 1:10:01me a hoe? OK? Now, I have, I've always had kind
- 1:10:08of a, there's a stigma surrounding college football
- 1:10:10coaches where they have to give off the persona
- 1:10:14of tough guys. He's, you know, he's towering
- 1:10:17over this, you know, this reporter who said a
- 1:10:19thing and look, you, you talk shit like that
- 1:10:22on the podcast. Somebody runs up to you in public.
- 1:10:24You got to back it up or you stand down like
- 1:10:26this reporter did, but Lynn Kiffin walked up
- 1:10:29on them surrounded by state troopers. It says
- 1:10:33this to this, it said this to this guy who, you
- 1:10:35know, who's trying to make him make a name for
- 1:10:37himself on the podcast. It came off as a little,
- 1:10:40you know, and it's like, ah, you know, what he
- 1:10:43said. Oh, he called me a hoe. And I mean, but
- 1:10:45come on, it's an expression. I know Lane Kiffins
- 1:10:48heard that expression before. And if we're going
- 1:10:51to be real, if you want to talk about any college
- 1:10:55football head coach ever that presents himself
- 1:10:59as a hoe. You kind of gotta say it's laying kippen
- 1:11:03because you just get rattled off plenty of examples
- 1:11:06how the second somebody starts fanning some extra
- 1:11:08money in his face He just ups and leaves forget
- 1:11:12the recruiting forget the ad forget the fan base
- 1:11:15forget that University He leaves it burning down
- 1:11:20to go on to the next thing and So so that's kind
- 1:11:25of where where where this kinda stood out to
- 1:11:28me i have no idea what's going to happen to him
- 1:11:30in lsu i have no idea we're talking about of
- 1:11:34of of we're talking about a college program program
- 1:11:38who had probably the most i'd be if nick saban
- 1:11:43was the epitome of alabama football ed orgeron
- 1:11:48was the epitome of lsu football if that makes
- 1:11:50any sense and i don't see lane kiffin being that
- 1:11:58And his arrogance as a head football coach is
- 1:12:05going to run out really, really fast in LSU.
- 1:12:10He's going to have to come in and win in dominant
- 1:12:14fashion and win a lot of games and make playoffs
- 1:12:17runs. I think he's got two years and they're
- 1:12:22going to chase him out of there with torches
- 1:12:24and pitchforks, dude. This all of this stuff
- 1:12:28is cute when you're winning games and when you're
- 1:12:30the guy and he's gonna go in and he's gonna get
- 1:12:33some guys but they better produce for him like
- 1:12:35it's gonna be super ugly for Lane Kiffin and
- 1:12:39And I think this situation because you know we
- 1:12:42talked about you know Tennessee we talked about
- 1:12:46USC we talked about the Raiders we talked about
- 1:12:48just kind of how he leaves it You know Ole Miss
- 1:12:50obviously we talked about how he's gonna leave
- 1:12:51these situations always in a worse situation
- 1:12:54than when he arrived, they're not going to stand
- 1:12:58for that in LSU. And this may be, if he goofs
- 1:13:01this up, it's going to be hard for that dude
- 1:13:03to get a job anywhere because you've got, you
- 1:13:05left this trail of blood with all these other
- 1:13:09football institutions that are reputable places.
- 1:13:12Tennessee, USC, Ole Miss, the Raiders. like these
- 1:13:19are really serious football places if you just
- 1:13:22gave up all of them double middle fingers the
- 1:13:24second a better opportunity came about or when
- 1:13:27things take so bad if you can't recover from
- 1:13:29it things could go really really bad it ls you
- 1:13:34for a man i i hope he does well for his own sake
- 1:13:38and i really hate to put it like this because
- 1:13:40i don't want to make it seem like i'm threatening
- 1:13:41this dude is safety He's putting himself in danger
- 1:13:46if he doesn't go in there and give the LSU football
- 1:13:49standard the seriousness that it requires. There's
- 1:13:53nothing else going on in that state. It's all
- 1:13:57about LSU football. And I hope he understood
- 1:14:00that when he signed that contract and agreed
- 1:14:02to take all that money. It's definitely risky.
- 1:14:07Like I said, Brian Kelly, you know, he left in
- 1:14:10the middle of the night. from Notre Dame and
- 1:14:13then he couldn't get it done and they ran him
- 1:14:15out of town. So again - Got his ass up out of
- 1:14:18there. Truthfully, like I said, it's really weird.
- 1:14:21I get it. You want to take, you think certain
- 1:14:23jobs are the top jobs, but he'd really done a
- 1:14:26really good job in Ole Miss. And truthfully,
- 1:14:30they are having better seasons in the past. Well,
- 1:14:33since he was at Ole Miss, they were having better
- 1:14:36seasons than LSU and Florida. So it's kind of
- 1:14:40weird. But hopefully, like I said, maybe he will,
- 1:14:43maybe he won't. I don't know what the next step
- 1:14:45is. I don't know why another college, I mean,
- 1:14:49I know why they would hire him because they want
- 1:14:50to win. But again, they would have to know the
- 1:14:53risk. Again, if it doesn't work out in LSU, you
- 1:14:56always got to know that Lane Kiffin is always
- 1:14:58looking for that next one. The bigger job, the
- 1:15:02bigger payday, he's shown that. But again, like
- 1:15:06I said, to his defense, this was a tough one.
- 1:15:08because of the timeline that the NCAA puts out
- 1:15:11there. It's nothing new for coaches to leave.
- 1:15:15Again, and if he wins, we forget about it, right?
- 1:15:18We forget that Nick Saban lied to us when he
- 1:15:20was the Dolphins coach and said he wasn't going
- 1:15:22to Alabama. And then he went to Alabama and became
- 1:15:25the greatest college football coach ever. So,
- 1:15:28you know, maybe Elaine Kiffin will do that. Who
- 1:15:30knows? But yeah, he is definitely something special.
- 1:15:36And he's got that stigma. that he's kind of created
- 1:15:40himself and he's got no one to blame but himself.
- 1:15:43So we shall see. So watch this and I'll agree
- 1:15:47with you in terms of if Lane Kiffin goes and
- 1:15:52he wins and that team is successful. And when
- 1:15:55I say that team I mean LSU. But I'm just going
- 1:15:57to point this out. Ole Miss has an opportunity
- 1:16:01to make the college football playoff. And I just
- 1:16:04want you to imagine and envision that that team.
- 1:16:07goes on to win a national championship without
- 1:16:10their head coach. That'd be the greatest story
- 1:16:12ever. I don't think he'll be able to outlive
- 1:16:15that, especially to say that they went and did
- 1:16:18it without him. That's massive. So yeah, maybe
- 1:16:22he can cover up some of that stink and put some
- 1:16:24perfume on the turd if he wins at LSU, but he's
- 1:16:27not going to be able to do that at least for
- 1:16:29another year. Let Ole Miss go. And here's the
- 1:16:32thing, even if Ole Miss makes a championship
- 1:16:34game, That's still gonna say a lot about him.
- 1:16:39And people are gonna hold that over his head
- 1:16:40and say, dude, you had an opportunity to coach
- 1:16:42that team to a championship and you bailed on
- 1:16:45them. Because we can sit here and say, I understand
- 1:16:49you say, hey, the timeline for decisions to be
- 1:16:51made, he could have told everyone, you know what,
- 1:16:53guys, no, I'm gonna stay here and I'm gonna coach
- 1:16:55this team to the end of the season and I'll deal
- 1:16:57with this the way that I wanna deal with it.
- 1:16:59And whatever comes of it comes of it. But I want
- 1:17:02to stay here with him. He could have said that.
- 1:17:03He has that kind of power. And he chose to leave
- 1:17:06because he had two great options in Florida and
- 1:17:09LSU. And he chose LSU. So I'm not going to give
- 1:17:12Lane Kiffin an out. That dude ain't no victim.
- 1:17:16I honestly, he might have had some leverage because
- 1:17:20who else was LSU going to go get? Urban Meyer?
- 1:17:24That's my point. He's the hot chick at the bar.
- 1:17:30You can leave with any dude you want, hot chick.
- 1:17:32Make your pick and just tell them, listen, but
- 1:17:35you know what I think the problem is? He would
- 1:17:38have had to make a decision. and then trusted
- 1:17:41that they wouldn't go out and get someone else
- 1:17:43in the interim. So he would have had to say,
- 1:17:45hey, LSU, let's do it. I'm in, but you gotta
- 1:17:49let me go ahead and coach this out. And maybe
- 1:17:52the fear is that if he was to go on and win a
- 1:17:55national championship with Ole Miss, how do you
- 1:17:58leave after that? Yeah, and like I said, the
- 1:18:01recruiting starts in a couple days. So that's
- 1:18:04the kicker. But it's a business. We forget that.
- 1:18:08Everyone forgets it's a business. It is not...
- 1:18:11They are not a... What is it? What do you mean?
- 1:18:15Student -athletes? What are you talking about?
- 1:18:16Student -athletes? Yeah, they're not student
- 1:18:18-athletes. This is a business. A million dollar
- 1:18:22business. Because as LSU is paying Brian Kelly...
- 1:18:26What is it? Fifty -some million dollar buyout?
- 1:18:29Fifty -four million dollars, sir. They're gonna
- 1:18:31also pay Lane Kiffin a hundred million. Well,
- 1:18:35I mean, it's just it's I mean, by the way, I
- 1:18:37am shocked by that. I thought that college football
- 1:18:40was all about higher education. I had no idea
- 1:18:43that it was about money. My mind is blown right
- 1:18:46now. I thought I thought Lane Kiffin's main focus
- 1:18:48was making sure that these young men get degrees
- 1:18:50and become productive human beings. I didn't
- 1:18:52know that it was about football and making money.
- 1:18:55Hey, you remember you said the top three professional
- 1:18:58sports is the NFL, the NBA and college football.
- 1:19:02And by the way, not even in that order. It's
- 1:19:07the NFL. It's the NFL and college football. Yeah.
- 1:19:11It's big, big money. You're right. You want to
- 1:19:14go and close this out? Yep. That's another episode
