Carlito's Way (1993) | Ep. 39 - Part 1
A reformed gangster just wants out, and the world won't let him go. Luke, Westy, and Matt begin the story of Brian De Palma and Al Pacino's elegiac crime drama.
In Part 1 we cover the film's opening, director Brian De Palma, the cast, and the second act — including Pacino's quietly doomed Carlito, Sean Penn buried under a perm and glasses, and De Palma building the whole film around an ending you already know is coming.
Grand Central's a long way off yet. Part 2 is up now: the crew, the finale, the reception, and that legendary Grand Central chase.
