- 0:07And welcome back to another episode of Here's to You, the
- 0:10podcast, the your favorite DIY podcast where we try to bring
- 0:16you cool people to share their cool stories.
- 0:20Sitting next to me, as always, is the blue haired fabulous
- 0:23Fanister McAllister. Say hi, Fanister.
- 0:26Hello guys, I'm excited. And sitting across from me today
- 0:29is our very special guest, my blood cousin.
- 0:33Straight up gang. Gang for life.
- 0:36The one and only Danny son. Hey, guys.
- 0:43We're so excited to have you finally.
- 0:45Thank you for having me on. See, there's the sound.
- 0:49I cued it. So how you guys doing today?
- 0:54You know, we vibing as always. Yeah.
- 0:56How are you all doing? Not too bad, it's a nice summer
- 0:59evening. Glad to be here, sitting with
- 1:01you on this great night. We're not telling them what day.
- 1:07No, on the day that you listened this episode, it was so great to
- 1:10be in your car and in your ears. It's a great day.
- 1:13Yep. Or if you're sitting at your
- 1:15desk at work, it's also great to be in your ears.
- 1:18Or if you're in your kitchen doing the dishes, it's great to
- 1:21be in your ears. Some laundry.
- 1:23We like all holes on this podcast.
- 1:34Yes, accurate moving on and scene.
- 1:42No, it has been a really good day.
- 1:45So you were saying, so you did not go and do the event an event
- 1:49today, but you went out frolicking to other lands?
- 1:53Yes, we did. Yeah, just out and about as
- 1:56always. So Danny, kind of tell us a
- 2:02little bit about yourself, like kind of like where you from
- 2:06understand that you were maybe born and raised in Garden but
- 2:10then moved to Wichita here pretty young.
- 2:12Yes. So I was born in Garden City,
- 2:15but I was raised here in Wichita, went to school in
- 2:19Haysville, and every time I try to go anywhere, I just always
- 2:25come back here. So here we are.
- 2:28Oh, you've tried to move before then?
- 2:30Shortly, yes. Where'd you go?
- 2:33Well, right before high school graduation, I kind of graduated
- 2:37early. So I went to Atlanta for a
- 2:39little bit, and then I came back for graduation to walk it.
- 2:42And then I just decided to stay because, you know, men.
- 2:47Oh, you found love? Well, I like situation ships.
- 2:53You got you got, you got dignitized.
- 2:56Yes. Oh fair, been there.
- 3:01So kind of fast forwarding from the dignitization, you also then
- 3:07start dummy apparel. Yes, yes.
- 3:09So Dummy Apparel is going to be 6 years old 6 September. 2019
- 3:16then. Yes, 2019 after mine and Dusty's
- 3:19cousin passed away, I had stopped working as a barista.
- 3:23That's what I did before dummy. And I worked at Starbucks and I
- 3:27was kind of just in a period I was trying to like, I don't
- 3:30really know what I was doing. And I was like, well, I've
- 3:33always like loved clothes and I've always like had a different
- 3:36style and stuff. So I decided to just try my hand
- 3:39out with manufacturing clothes and stuff.
- 3:41And so the way I started it was I would have designs that I
- 3:48thought of myself or hired local artists to do, and then I would
- 3:53get them made on shirts that were cut in stone, specifically
- 3:57with the designs on them. And so that's what I did up
- 4:01until Kovid happened because you know, Kovid just doing
- 4:04everything for everyone in of course different.
- 4:06Ways. Yeah, yeah.
- 4:08After, during COVID, they, the factory that I was working with
- 4:12kind of shut down and I, it seems like they never recovered
- 4:15because I had kind of lost contact with them.
- 4:18So I was like, well, if I really want to do this, let me kind of
- 4:20figure out how to do it myself. So then I had to did the old
- 4:25thing where everyone buys a vinyl cutter and then tries that
- 4:28out. And I was like, well, I don't
- 4:29really like the way this looks because a lot of people will
- 4:31just take heat transfer vinyl and then put those on shirts.
- 4:35That was a big trend, but I was like, I don't like the quality
- 4:38of this. Then I decided that I was going
- 4:41to try screen printing and so I used the vinyl cutter to make my
- 4:44screen printing stencils basically.
- 4:48So I was still DIY ING my shirts, but in a different way.
- 4:54And so that's kind of what catapulted me and I was able to
- 4:58like ramp up production from then.
- 5:02And that's where I was just really getting our name out
- 5:05there. Yeah, yeah.
- 5:07So that's how Dummy kind of started a while ago.
- 5:11Yeah. Dang.
- 5:12OK, that's so you guys have came a long way.
- 5:14Is it still just you? Is there still more people?
- 5:17So it's just me, but I have a team of people we I have about
- 5:22including my little sister, about 5 or 6 employees.
- 5:26And then I have people that are like, I guess in the realm, but
- 5:30they're not actual employees, but they'll come help out like
- 5:34for ICT bazaars, that one we started in 2022 and we can dive
- 5:38a little deeper into that, but. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:41I also have like some bartenders, the main DJ we use
- 5:45is Dusty, but we also have other people in the roster just for
- 5:49different aspects of everything. So we have a lot of people that
- 5:54play a part in dummy apparel and ICT bazaars.
- 5:57So I cannot really say that it's just me, but yeah, I guess I run
- 6:02that shit. Well, you do you do be running
- 6:10shit. Yes, somehow, but we get it
- 6:13done. What?
- 6:16How did you come up with the name Dummy?
- 6:19So it has actually a couple few like a few different meanings.
- 6:22So dummy is another name for like a mannequin.
- 6:25And so like people that are like wearing our merch, walking
- 6:30around, they're walking mannequins.
- 6:32That's funny. They're.
- 6:33Dummies and without kind of having a negative connotation on
- 6:37it cuz I wanna go out to people wearing my clothes and be like
- 6:39hey dummy. Yeah, of course.
- 6:41So there's that. But also, whenever I first
- 6:43started Dummy apparel again, it was really over saturated with
- 6:49people trying to start clothing brands and making T-shirts and
- 6:52stuff. So a lot of people that I
- 6:54brought the idea up to or like, that's kind of dumb.
- 6:57That's stupid. Like there's so many people
- 7:00already doing that and it you just, you know, there wasn't
- 7:04really exactly. And so it was kind of an odd
- 7:07scared. Money don't make no money.
- 7:09Exactly, exactly. I gotta pay to play so I forgot
- 7:15what I was saying. Sorry, sorry.
- 7:17You're a person of action that's.
- 7:18What you're saying? Absolutely.
- 7:20But yeah, so it was kind of an ode to that saying like, you're
- 7:25the dummy, not me. So it's, you know, they'll see
- 7:29the word dummy everyone and just be reminded about how much of A
- 7:32hater they have been. I love the level of Hedy there.
- 7:39It's the commitment for me. It's the commitment for sure.
- 7:41Yeah. So you were saying that you also
- 7:46partner with other artists to come up with the designs, but
- 7:48you also come up with the designs then?
- 7:50Yes. So there's a mix.
- 7:51So it's all my ideas. How OK, when I first started,
- 7:56what I, the idea I was doing was buying the people's art, or if I
- 8:02had an idea, commissioning people to make that art.
- 8:05So it was a mix of that. But then I started leaning into
- 8:08my own artwork, and if it's something that I can't execute,
- 8:11I'll have a team of artists depending on which.
- 8:15Sorry, that was my birth control.
- 8:18Girl. No, my I have a alarm for my
- 8:22braces to put my rubber bands in.
- 8:23So that's what that was. I apologize.
- 8:25No, it's OK, but it's. OK, take the birth control.
- 8:28We don't. Want our babies exactly not
- 8:29around here. Yeah, so.
- 8:31Fetus Deletus. I love that.
- 8:38And so yeah, if it's something that I can't make happen myself,
- 8:44I will hire, depending on which style of art it is, a certain
- 8:49artist and they will make it and I will always credit them and
- 8:53stuff. So it depends on the line that
- 8:56I'm dropping or what I'm deciding to drop because I've
- 8:58been kind of leaning more into like themes with seasons because
- 9:02I was really against making seasonal merch.
- 9:05But my manager, Katrina, she really kind of pushed me to do
- 9:11that 2 Christmas ago. We made some Christmas merch,
- 9:15which I was like, no, I was like, if you want us to do
- 9:18Christmas merch, you have to do it all.
- 9:19And she really did. Yeah.
- 9:21And so I was like, fuck. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you, you had
- 9:23another person of action. Yes, and she really made it
- 9:26happen. So I kind of had to run with it
- 9:28and we sold like all of it so fast.
- 9:30And so I was like. OK, I guess we're gonna keep
- 9:32this up. Thank you, but whatever.
- 9:35Like I don't love this but whatever.
- 9:36Yeah, yeah, 'cause I just hate the anxiety of am I gonna get
- 9:40stuck with this merch? Like, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 9:44Because there's just some things I'll just throw in the back of
- 9:47the closet and be like, I don't want to see that anymore.
- 9:50Like one of our most popular designs, it is called Grow as
- 9:54You Go and it has like mushrooms on it.
- 9:56And it's just a simple one color screen print.
- 9:59Yeah. And I sold that shirt for three
- 10:01years. Yeah.
- 10:02And everyone, every time I would bring it out, it would sell out
- 10:05so fast. And everyone keep asking for it.
- 10:07And I got tired of it. So I said no more no.
- 10:10More. No more, he said.
- 10:11Fuck you hoes. Exactly, I said no.
- 10:13That's enough dummies. Yes, I was so over it.
- 10:17Like there's just, I get sick of some of the shirts.
- 10:20So say a little bit more about that.
- 10:21Like I think that goes a little into the branding, right?
- 10:24Because like of what you're trying to do, it sounds like you
- 10:27still want to kind of try to keep it exclusive.
- 10:30Absolutely so exclusive, but not too exclusive, you know, like we
- 10:34don't get keep over here, but I, there's only so many I want to
- 10:38make because I'll get sick of it and don't ask me for that number
- 10:42because it's just when I feel like it.
- 10:45I just do as I feel. I don't have any like actual
- 10:48rules. Yeah, I love that.
- 10:51How many themes have you put out so far in seasons?
- 10:55I guess because it sounds like you've done a lot.
- 10:57Girl, that number, I couldn't even fucking tell you got you.
- 11:00Am I allowed to cut some here? Yeah.
- 11:03I don't even really know. But I know off the top of my
- 11:06head. We've done last year a Halloween
- 11:08collection. We did a different, a different
- 11:13Christmas one. I know we did a Valentine's one,
- 11:17which is really cute. That one sold so fast because I
- 11:20did like a grand reopening in my store and I brought it out with
- 11:22that. Yeah.
- 11:23And that that day that way grand like reopened.
- 11:27It was wild. We got ran through.
- 11:29OK, nice. But I also, I didn't
- 11:34specifically like mark it and tailor it to it.
- 11:36It just kind of happened. But like around like Earth Day
- 11:39last year, I kind of dropped a bunch of different tie dyes and
- 11:42are earthy designs. I guess a lot of our stuff is
- 11:44earthy design. So yeah, yeah.
- 11:45It just kind of happened. So yeah, it's just kind of like
- 11:48what I feel like. Yeah.
- 11:50And what. Yeah, I know that's a lot of my
- 11:52answers. It's just what?
- 11:53I want and I love it, as you should.
- 11:55It sounds like you really know who you are and you want to stay
- 11:58authentic to that. Absolutely.
- 11:59Because I feel like it's its own like, person really like Dummy
- 12:04and the branding and like, you know, my team of people, they
- 12:07really understand like the aesthetic of it and like the
- 12:11separation of us and it, Yeah. And be able to tailor things to
- 12:16it, but also like staying authentic to what the brand is,
- 12:19but also expanding to kind of meet trends and stuff.
- 12:23So like, bridging the gap between the two is what we're
- 12:25really good at. I love that.
- 12:27How do you how are you balancing like because you mentioned that
- 12:30like you don't want to deal with the anxiety of like having so
- 12:32much supply. So like how how do you try to
- 12:35find that balance? Like it sounds like you are good
- 12:37at finding out like when the right trend moment is happening
- 12:40and then also when like how you're feeling in the moment to
- 12:43and then like it collides well. But how are there moments where
- 12:47maybe you're struggling to balance out or what are you
- 12:49doing? Constant.
- 12:50I'm going to be so real. It's a constant battle.
- 12:53I either have too much or too little all the time or like I'm
- 12:57really bad at restocking. So like I will be sold out of a
- 13:02certain design for the longest, but then like I'll bring it back
- 13:07and then everyone's already over it.
- 13:09So like it's just, I guess it's a constant battle of knowing
- 13:13what people want as well as keeping up with it and not doing
- 13:18too much, but not doing too little.
- 13:19So I think that's one in general, that's one struggle
- 13:22that I go through as a business owner is inventory, whether it's
- 13:27keeping track of it or knowing what to have.
- 13:31Yeah, so and I kind of feel like that's a thing with everybody
- 13:35that owns a business because, you know, otherwise we wouldn't
- 13:37have clearance sales and stuff. True.
- 13:39But it's just something that always gives me anxiety.
- 13:42I hate it. Yeah, Yeah.
- 13:44Well, you have a storefront over at Revolution, but and then you
- 13:47guys do vendor stand ups as well.
- 13:49Do you guys also sell online and.
- 13:51Yes. So we started out doing like
- 13:55vendor events, how I'm really good at like deadlines and
- 13:59stressing myself out of course, so when I'll.
- 14:01Perform well and during anxiety. Right.
- 14:03And so whenever I first started Dummy, I signed up for
- 14:07Openstreet's ICT before even like that, the name Dummy didn't
- 14:10even exist yet. Like I just was like, oh, this
- 14:13is my first event, so this is my deadline to have everything, you
- 14:16know, ready. Yeah, yeah.
- 14:17And so that was my very first event.
- 14:20And then I believe COVID happened like literally right
- 14:23after that. And because I was like, oh, this
- 14:26is a cool event, but I need to like make sure I'm set up right
- 14:29before I do another one. And then by then that's when we
- 14:32kind of started shutting down. And so I did a few during COVID,
- 14:36like the few pop ups that happened.
- 14:37But so, yeah, we started with doing events and then we've
- 14:44always been online, but I don't really put a big focus on it.
- 14:48But we also have our storefront that we opened in November of
- 14:512023. We had that storefront for like
- 14:55a year and a few months. And then this January we we
- 15:02remodeled the space next door. OK.
- 15:04And then we moved next door and did the grand reopening that was
- 15:07talking about for Valentine's Day.
- 15:08Yeah, on February 1st or 3rd. OK, nice.
- 15:12Yep. So you expanded.
- 15:14Yes, that's exciting. Well, it's the same size, OK,
- 15:17but I just wanted to renovate because so whenever we first
- 15:23start like open the store dummy, I got into this local mentorship
- 15:27called the garages. I'm not sure if you guys are
- 15:29familiar with that. Yeah, that's why I couldn't
- 15:31think of the name of it when I was trying to explain it to her,
- 15:33but I figured it would come up. Yes, yes.
- 15:38So he probably told you a little bit about it.
- 15:41It's like a mentorship that includes like where they kind of
- 15:45go specializes turning an idea into a brick and mortar.
- 15:49But I already had that idea. So it's kind of already
- 15:51accelerated. I just didn't have the brick and
- 15:53mortar. I was actually planning on
- 15:55opening a brick and mortar in the middle of 2024, but it got
- 16:00accelerated because again, Katrina, she was like, why don't
- 16:04we just apply for this? Just try it out.
- 16:06And so I applied for it and then they wanted to interview me and
- 16:08they love me and I, they took it back to the board and they
- 16:11accepted me to it. And so they presented me with
- 16:15this crazy challenge that I was also crazy for saying yes to.
- 16:19But they're like, we want to offer you a space, but we want
- 16:22you to open for the holiday season, which basically for the
- 16:28day that I got my keys, it was 2 weeks and two days to open.
- 16:32Yeah. And we did it.
- 16:34And I literally that you. Didn't sleep.
- 16:36No, I didn't sleep. I literally was up there like
- 16:41every night. Yeah, the day I got the key, I
- 16:44went inside the space and I sat down.
- 16:45I drew out the plan on Procreate.
- 16:48Yeah. And then I just figured, like I
- 16:51literally mapped out everything, what I was going to buy and how
- 16:55I was going to buy fund everything and all that.
- 16:57And so just got to work. And then also.
- 17:00A person of action. Right to see it and then a.
- 17:03Queen, A king Which? What do you prefer, a queen or
- 17:05king? Either you know.
- 17:09Whatever, whatever you, whatever you like to hear more.
- 17:12Right, right. I like both.
- 17:14OK, OK. But not I don't like both.
- 17:16OK, fair. I get.
- 17:20I get it. Yeah, And then I don't know how
- 17:23we pulled it off. We had like the vice mayor
- 17:25there, we did a whole grand opening with the ribbon cutting.
- 17:28Dusty was the DJ for it. My partner, he came and catered
- 17:35the entire thing with food. It was crazy.
- 17:39Oh, that's amazing. Yeah, it was.
- 17:41It was a wild time. And.
- 17:43What was your energy drink of choice during that?
- 17:47Seven brew I love I love 7 brew. I get so many different energy
- 17:51drinks from them, but my my main thing from them would be a fruit
- 17:54roll up OK and I like to. That sounds like really sweet
- 17:57though. Yeah, I'm a sweets girl.
- 17:59OK, OK. So they do have stuff you can do
- 18:02like less sweet or like sugar free or if you're boring.
- 18:05But but yeah, I like the fruit roll up with like Peach or
- 18:13sometimes like blue Raspberry. I'm a blue Raspberry girly.
- 18:16But some people don't like it because they say it tastes like,
- 18:18you know, cough medicine. But.
- 18:21I can see that. But also, these are the
- 18:23questions that I'm like, Dusty, you were supposed to ask him
- 18:25what he likes to drink. I mean I feel like that's hard
- 18:31cuz like I see you get like different drinks all the time.
- 18:33Yeah, I'm like I make different. Places.
- 18:35I do. I it sounds it sounds like you
- 18:37would like like some like a Jolly Rancher in your water.
- 18:40Yeah. Like that's what it sounds like.
- 18:42That's the type of that's the type of energy I'm on.
- 18:45Yeah, fair. And I love Arnold Palmer's.
- 18:47That's my big thing, too. When I, when I first started
- 18:49going to Seven Brew, I actually, the first time I went there,
- 18:52actually fucking hated it. Yeah.
- 18:54It's like I'm never coming here again.
- 18:55And it was actually their grand opening.
- 18:57Yeah. Like I didn't even realize.
- 18:58What did? What did they do to you?
- 19:00Well, I got a hot cocoa and it tasted like hot water and but it
- 19:05was their I didn't realize it was their grand opening.
- 19:07And like I thought they were playing a joke on me because
- 19:09like, I guess that day it was like everything was free.
- 19:12Oh, OK. And so me and my friend went
- 19:14like we were passing by. We're like, oh, let's just go.
- 19:16And so we went in and we went through the drive through and
- 19:20then she like never told us a total.
- 19:22And then when we try to get a we got the drink.
- 19:25I was like, how much is it? And they're like, no charge.
- 19:27And I was just so confused. But then she was like, oh, it's
- 19:29the grand opening. I was like, OK.
- 19:31I didn't know that the grand opening was free stuff.
- 19:34Yeah. What the fuck?
- 19:35Where was I at? Right.
- 19:36But it was the first one in Wichita at the time.
- 19:38OK, OK. And oh, the very first one.
- 19:40So I. Didn't go there for a while, but
- 19:42then now I am like addicted and I go there like I literally go
- 19:45there every day. Yeah.
- 19:47Like I got to be at work at like 6:00 in the morning, but I
- 19:49literally leave my house to be there right when 7 brew opens at
- 19:535:30 so I can get my energy drink before I go to my shift.
- 19:58And I work all the way in Mulvane.
- 19:59So I'm like, OK, I calculated it every day.
- 20:02So I had to leave my house at 5:25 AM to get there at 5:30.
- 20:07And then I have just enough time to get my drink and to get to
- 20:10Mulvane to work exactly on time. Damn, it's perfect.
- 20:14You really are a queen and you are a person of action.
- 20:16I am. I love people like that because
- 20:18that's like, I'll be doing that. I'll be like, OK, how long does
- 20:20it take me to do this? And then what time do I have to
- 20:22be there by? And then how much can I get in
- 20:24front of this to get to be able to do that?
- 20:26I'm that way too. Yes, I I'm the type of person
- 20:29that if I want something, I'm a go get.
- 20:31I'm not going to sit there and wait around because sex, yeah,
- 20:33I'm impatient in that sense. Like I want it right now and the
- 20:36only way to get it is to get up. But like, yeah, I mean, I, I
- 20:42could see where maybe patience plays a role, but also like, I
- 20:46think it's not just patience, it's the fact that like, like
- 20:50you just said, like, I want it, I can get it.
- 20:52Absolutely. Right.
- 20:53Yeah, it's not that like that. Like you're just like, I know I
- 20:58can do it, so I'm going to do it.
- 21:00Like I don't see a reason why I'm not going to, or like I see
- 21:03maybe issues that could make it hard for me to do it, but I'm
- 21:07going to do it anyways. Right.
- 21:08I'm the type of person like I'll.
- 21:09We'll cross that bridge when we get there, babes.
- 21:11Yeah. Yeah, for sure, for sure.
- 21:16Oh shit, I was going to ask you something and I totally forgot
- 21:19it was about this. But so we kind of started to
- 21:23trickle into this a little bit, but we started to talk about
- 21:26ICTICT bazaars. So how did that bazaar?
- 21:31Damn it, bazaars. Say it again.
- 21:36Remind me of Brazzers. Of Brazzers?
- 21:40ICT Brazzers. Who's that?
- 21:43A porn website. I don't know what Brazzers is,
- 21:45No. Oh yeah, yeah.
- 21:46Probably because we're men. Yeah.
- 21:51Tell me more, is this still going on?
- 21:55Go to brazzers.com and you tell us the bus.
- 21:57So it's still, it's still online and still active.
- 22:01Yeah, I'm, I'm pretty sure they are, yeah.
- 22:03Is it, is it like a, is there like a certain niche market for
- 22:07it? They're they're a big company
- 22:08that covered any niche you wanted.
- 22:11OK, OK, listen, I don't watch porn as you can tell.
- 22:18Is so would you just say it's like pornhub?
- 22:21No, they're, I mean, yeah, like they're.
- 22:23Why does it? Why is it different?
- 22:25Why? Wouldn't they're on there?
- 22:26They're like an actual company that like shot stuff.
- 22:29They're like a film company. Yeah, also, so browsers is on
- 22:33Pornhub, yes. OK.
- 22:34Yes, OK. OK.
- 22:38So, but if they're the production company, but then you
- 22:41have, you know, Pornhub. It's just the website that
- 22:45aggregates stuff from the different companies.
- 22:47But right now the other one that you or like, the one that it
- 22:50sounded like I just said, but it sounds like you guys were saying
- 22:53that was a website too. Yeah, they have their own
- 22:55website. Yeah.
- 22:58Oh, OK. Yeah, maybe you can go to their
- 23:00website and hire them. No, I got hired before this so I
- 23:07cannot pronounce anything. I'm sorry.
- 23:15No worries, people say the name wrong all the time I'm used.
- 23:18To it. Oh, OK.
- 23:19My God. Bazzers.
- 23:22Bazzers like bastards. But we're the ones that chose
- 23:25the that, you know, Yeah, off the wall name.
- 23:29I like it. I like it.
- 23:30Bizarre is is it's an old word that doesn't get used very much
- 23:36anymore. Well, it's different from
- 23:37bizarre, but you're pronouncing it like bizarre.
- 23:40Right now. But yeah, like instead of
- 23:42bizarre, it's Bazaar. Right.
- 23:44But there's like just a subtle difference that I heard.
- 23:47I want to look it up then, because you're saying it's an
- 23:49old word. Yeah, so I can tell you what it
- 23:51means. OK, tell me what it means.
- 23:52So bazaars means a row of shops, but with the word that what the
- 23:59term was used for was mostly like in like Asian and like
- 24:05Arabic like areas and me and Anita, you know, both of our
- 24:11cultures. Are.
- 24:13In those realms. So we're like, that's so perfect
- 24:16because, you know, it's the ICT version of a bizarre.
- 24:21And we wanted a different name that kind of like that.
- 24:24That name sticks. Yeah, it does.
- 24:26And so when people hear, they're like, huh, what is that?
- 24:29And you know, if you search it up, you'll see like exactly what
- 24:31it means. It's like true and true to.
- 24:33What you guys are doing? Yeah.
- 24:34And like what we started with. And so, yeah, that's pretty
- 24:37cool. That's a hey, that's smart.
- 24:41Yeah, I like. So you OK?
- 24:44Yeah. What made you decide to start
- 24:49one? Like what made you decide that
- 24:51ICT is a perfect place for vendor shops and like OK we need
- 24:55to start this up or? Yeah.
- 24:57So again, with when dummy started, 'cause we started I
- 25:01would say three years before, we started, three years before.
- 25:05So I was doing any and every market here in town, like I was
- 25:10infiltrating the market with dummy.
- 25:13Like I'm here and I'm staying and you're wearing it.
- 25:18Yep, and that's exactly what happened.
- 25:21But so I was doing all these events and also my friend Anita,
- 25:28she owns Hot and Bothered, which she is actually carried in dummy
- 25:32apparel now, but she had her own where she did upcycled and
- 25:37vintage vines and she. So we both would be at all these
- 25:41markets together and not just us, it's just just like a
- 25:45collective of local artists that we were all, we would just all
- 25:47see each other. So we're just kind of like a
- 25:49cool little vendor group. Like I would say like kind of
- 25:52like the Ogs in a way, because there's so many new vendors now.
- 25:55Yeah, it's sickening. Not sickening.
- 25:56No, not in a bad way. Not in a bad way.
- 25:58I support all the the vendors. Like, yeah, you didn't hear
- 26:01that. Just put some respect on our
- 26:05name. OK.
- 26:06But yeah, so we literally saw that all these events that we
- 26:10were being a part of, all the organizers were like older
- 26:13people and the older people only knew how to brought how to bring
- 26:17their type of crowd in, likewise of older people and like.
- 26:21And you, that was not even like who you are.
- 26:23Right. And like, wow, they are the
- 26:25people that have, you know, with the fatter wallets and the ones
- 26:28that will spend. Maybe they weren't the target
- 26:31for maybe the type of brand that you would.
- 26:33Exactly, And all of us younger artists, like they they were
- 26:36more catered to the people that I don't really know what words
- 26:41to say there, but like cater to their type of stuff.
- 26:43But yeah, that definitely we're me and her just kept every time
- 26:47we would see each other, events went man, we need to do our own.
- 26:49We need to do our own. Yeah, there's missing something.
- 26:51So then we've decided to finally do one together.
- 26:56We teamed up with our very first one was we teamed up with Odd
- 27:00Fellow Hall and it was called the Boozy Love Bazaar and you DJ
- 27:05it correct. Yeah, it was pretty fun.
- 27:07Yes, it was crazy. Yeah, it was a crazy time.
- 27:11And like, I was so shook because multiple we had, I believe, I
- 27:15don't remember the exact number, but I know we had at least 14
- 27:17vendors, which it was full because the Odd Fellow was only
- 27:20so big. Yeah.
- 27:21And we were like, we curated those vendors so well because we
- 27:24had a few of our artists that made over $1000 in sales.
- 27:28Oh, wow. Yeah.
- 27:29I was so shook and it made me literally feel on top of the
- 27:33world knowing that these people were like made that much money.
- 27:37And I was like, it was like a high that I forever will chase
- 27:40now. Yeah.
- 27:41Oh yeah. And we cost.
- 27:43The more it happens, the more I chase that high because I just
- 27:46feel so good. It's like it feels like I'm
- 27:48doing something for the community, you know?
- 27:50It doesn't just feel like it I am doing.
- 27:51Something you are doing something because it's not just
- 27:54you winning, it's like all those vendors.
- 27:56Absolutely. And my biggest thing is making
- 27:59sure they make money. And also another thing that
- 28:02we've noticed is a lot of people will do events and have vendors
- 28:06as a side thing. Just a lot of them will be like
- 28:09a ploy for them to make money and then not really care about
- 28:12the vendors or they won't, you know, talk about the vendors.
- 28:15There's been so many events where I just felt so sidelined
- 28:17as a vendor. I'm like, I'm just here for them
- 28:19to make a money off of my back as in like a vendor fee and so
- 28:23then. Gotcha.
- 28:24It wasn't, it wasn't very thoughtful.
- 28:26It was just like them just trying to say like we are for
- 28:28the community and they're showing that by bringing in
- 28:30vendors, but they didn't actually do anything for.
- 28:32It. Yeah.
- 28:33And they're just profiting off of us because, yeah, we pay a
- 28:36vendor fee to be there. Of course, yeah.
- 28:37And they don't really like there are people that will shop, you
- 28:40know, And that's the whole reason why you're there.
- 28:42And so we promised and we made a pact that everything that we do
- 28:47will be vendor based and then everything else is around it.
- 28:50That's awesome. And so that's how we kind of do
- 28:54all of our events and stuff. Yeah.
- 28:56And another big thing is like, I feel like the more opportunities
- 29:01that we can make for artists to not work for corporation and to
- 29:05make the money, like maybe of doing our events, they can't.
- 29:09Like, it won't replace their full time job, you know, But,
- 29:12you know, maybe come to our event, they'll be able to pay
- 29:14their light bill. And it won't be like it'll be
- 29:16from selling their handmade stuff rather than going and
- 29:19clocking in and being miserable after work.
- 29:21It's like one last day they had to do that.
- 29:23And they will actually be in the community making money and
- 29:25having fun. Yeah.
- 29:27And so like, things like that is just what really keeps it going
- 29:31for me. Yeah.
- 29:32On the vendor side of things, because we've expanded so much
- 29:34since just doing vendor events. Yeah, because now at your
- 29:37events, you're doing more than just that.
- 29:39Like kind of like talk about that a bit more too.
- 29:41Yes. So we started out with doing
- 29:43just vendor events and then we moved into a a craft studio.
- 29:51So now we do craft parties. Most of them are ticketed.
- 29:54Some of them are you know come and go, but we do ticketed craft
- 29:57parties. We also do like a mobile bar
- 30:00that we incorporate into all of our events and sometimes our
- 30:03craft parties. And we also just do other
- 30:07events. Now we've kind of been diving
- 30:09into like watch parties, yeah, out in the courtyard of
- 30:12Revolution where our shop is. And yeah, so we just do a lot of
- 30:17different things. And going back to like the craft
- 30:19parties we've started. This is another way of working
- 30:22with artists with. So we started with making
- 30:26opportunities with making a shoppable experience for patrons
- 30:30to come in and support these artists.
- 30:32Now we've diving into more curated things with ticketed
- 30:37events. So we'll hire like let's say I
- 30:40have in like next week, I have this wood burning workshop that
- 30:47I'm working with this dude that I went to high school with
- 30:52Alistair. They own Chillis creations and
- 30:55so they know how to do wood burning.
- 30:57And I've noticed in other big cities they have like wood
- 31:02burning workshops and stuff. And also that's really like I've
- 31:05noticed they cater it to more like older people.
- 31:08So it's like more like southern and rustic designs and stuff.
- 31:11But I got kind of, I got Alistair to do what Alistair
- 31:15does is like groovy stuff. And so it's like a mushroom and
- 31:18a lava lamp. And we're gonna like wood, burn
- 31:20that into this slab of wood. And so we work with artists so
- 31:26they can come teach, teach their craft and, like, it's an
- 31:31experience for them and they get to make money doing it.
- 31:33So it's a little side thing for them.
- 31:35Yeah. And then they'll make way more
- 31:38doing that just for like, in the classes are like 90 minutes.
- 31:41So for an hour and a half, they'll make more than if they
- 31:44were to go, you know, clock in real quick because, you know, no
- 31:48one wants to pay a good wage these days.
- 31:49That's. That's true.
- 31:51That's true. Does he has a new soundboard and
- 32:00I love it. Now keep it up.
- 32:02I just think it's so cool. It's.
- 32:04Not new, it's just, it's just like I've been doing a lot of
- 32:07editing on it and so yeah, I got a lot of new buttons I guess.
- 32:11I like them. That thing you were saying
- 32:15earlier that you guys are also now doing watch parties, and
- 32:17then you were like, yeah, I didn't watch that show, I just
- 32:19hosted it. Yes, like for Love Island, Oh my
- 32:22gosh, so many people literally was like, you need to do a watch
- 32:26party, you need to do a watch party.
- 32:27And I was like, OK, I'll think about it.
- 32:29And then I saw Emerson Bacon's post theirs.
- 32:32Yeah, and then so many people. Yes.
- 32:34And so many people were commenting on it.
- 32:35And then people were like, no, you really have to do it.
- 32:37And I was like, Oh my God, OK. And so I, I was messaging my
- 32:43friend Bree Tomlin and she blessed her soul.
- 32:47She helped me set everything up because she's a Love Island
- 32:50girl. So I was messaging her.
- 32:51I was like, yeah, wait, what? Do we even watch it on?
- 32:53When does it come out? And I was so shocked because she
- 32:54was like, it's every day except for Wednesdays.
- 32:56I was like a new episode. Wait.
- 32:58Every day. Every.
- 32:59OK, so listen, I didn't. I don't know this, I don't.
- 33:01Yeah, I watched it, but I was catching up.
- 33:04I didn't know that every day except for Wednesdays, they were
- 33:07really singing. Yeah, it's crazy.
- 33:09It was like a novella like like Mexican.
- 33:12Well, most Latin novellas, they're releasing episodes every
- 33:14single day too. So you want to be on it.
- 33:16You want to make sure you're. Watching it like the days of our
- 33:19lives. I didn't know that they did it
- 33:21that way. They do any episode every day
- 33:24minus like, you know, some holidays or whatever.
- 33:27OK. Yeah, and.
- 33:29So you were playing catch up too?
- 33:31No, I wasn't paying attention to be real.
- 33:35Do you watch any of the like the fake love shows where the
- 33:41reality TV? I watch some reality TV.
- 33:44I'm a Bravo girly. Like I'll watch the Real
- 33:46Housewives. That's my type of shit, like The
- 33:48Real Housewives of Atlanta. Yeah.
- 33:50That's my tea. And right now more dramatic,
- 33:54yes. And also, I'm watching like Next
- 33:56Gen. NYC, which has some of the
- 33:59housewife kids on it, and they're like in New York City
- 34:02trying to, you know, turn it up, yeah, turn it up, make a name
- 34:05for themselves and stuff and survive.
- 34:08And so, yeah, that's what I watch in my free time, which is
- 34:11barely any, but yeah, I can. Imagine that you barely have
- 34:16any. Yeah.
- 34:18And yeah, so I just started doing watch parties and the
- 34:22first one went really well and so we kept doing them.
- 34:24We did 3 so far for Love Island. We did.
- 34:28What's over now? Yeah.
- 34:29And then someone suggested we do the reunion.
- 34:32So you should. Yeah, whenever we figured that.
- 34:35Whenever that is going on, I will, you know, have that.
- 34:39Yeah, pop in because it look like you got a pretty good turn
- 34:42out at those. Yeah.
- 34:43And so we're also gonna do like, ROM coms.
- 34:47We're gonna like, we're planning on watching like, white chicks
- 34:50and, you know, the hot chick. Yeah, and also like Halloween
- 34:54stuff when it comes that time. Well, like Freddy versus Jason.
- 34:58That's a good idea I didn't even think of.
- 35:00That's what I'm thinking about. Yeah.
- 35:01I'm thinking like I want to watch like one of those Thrasher
- 35:04movies. Yeah.
- 35:05Yeah, exactly. Like I want or like Texas
- 35:09Chainsaw Massacre. Have you seen the newest one?
- 35:11Have you guys seen the newest one?
- 35:12No, it came out I think 2020 actually, or it it came out not
- 35:18too long ago. I don't know.
- 35:20Sometimes 2020 feels like it's five years ago, but then it also
- 35:23feels like yesterday sometimes, you know, but it was so stupid
- 35:27like it like had in a Tesla. So you know how like in the
- 35:31first Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the car breaks down.
- 35:34What's a Tesla that was not charged?
- 35:37And so that's how they get stranded because they can't find
- 35:41a charger. And then like there's things
- 35:46that involve like a phone and like, it's just very, is it Gen.
- 35:51Z? It's Gen.
- 35:52Z, right? Now right it's.
- 35:54Very Gen. Z heavy, but it's not like not
- 35:56in a good way. Or like, have you guys seen
- 35:58Megan too? I haven't seen that one.
- 36:01I've seen the first one. The the sorry I'm referring to
- 36:03the first one. I thought it was also trash.
- 36:06I felt like it was very like Gen.
- 36:08Z ish too. Like it was just like too much.
- 36:11It was like it was about the girl that's the robot.
- 36:14And so essentially she's like, she's a helping robot for the
- 36:19friend. I can't remember, like a best
- 36:21friend, I don't know, turns evil, but she also like starts
- 36:24to do TikTok dances. I don't know where like, you
- 36:27know what I mean? Like that's weird.
- 36:28Like why are we bringing that in here?
- 36:30I don't know. Like some like if we're talking
- 36:33about, I'm interested to see what scary movie like what
- 36:35they're going to do because you know how they're about to come
- 36:37up with or I don't remember when it's released, but it's coming
- 36:41up pretty soon. So I'm curious what they're
- 36:43going to do, but like if they lean in too heavy on it, like
- 36:46I'm just going to probably be turned.
- 36:48Off by it, right? It's.
- 36:49A killer robot. I don't know, it was just like
- 36:52they leaned in too heavy to the whole like current stuff.
- 36:56Maybe it's because I'm not into it as much, but.
- 36:59I feel that. I feel like I'm to that age and
- 37:01I'm just like, Oh my God, I can't understand half of the
- 37:04shit that these people are doing.
- 37:05Yeah, like sometimes people will speak to me in slang and I'm
- 37:08like, can you please stop? Can't you just tell me?
- 37:14I've no idea what that means, but yeah, no, sorry.
- 37:22I know we went on a tangent, but back to Halloween.
- 37:27Yeah, you should do some like Friday the 13 Movies.
- 37:30I definitely think that would be great.
- 37:32I just have to kind of figure out the logistics of showing,
- 37:35you know, people dying on a big screen and kids.
- 37:39Oh, cuz kids. Get invited to this.
- 37:41Yes, but. I guess you could do the Addams
- 37:44Family but it just sounds so PG. No, but we could do like, OK, so
- 37:47Revolutions closed on Sundays. No one's there.
- 37:51Yeah. So like, we could, like, kind of
- 37:54check at the gate, you know, and be like, turn away kids and be
- 37:58like, hey, this is a rated R movie.
- 38:00Bring your kid in here if you want.
- 38:01So kind of we can do something like that maybe, I don't know.
- 38:04Yeah, that just. Sounds fun.
- 38:06It's kind of. Like a like a disclaimer, Yeah.
- 38:09Yeah, don't sue me. Like maybe this movie is rated
- 38:12R. Yeah, whatever, Whatever the
- 38:15movie theater does, you do that like where they did.
- 38:18Like, you know, they have to be old enough to watch this movie.
- 38:20And like, if that's on your choice, you're not checking
- 38:22that. That's for them to figure.
- 38:23Out do. You think that Bell sounded like
- 38:25the first one? Did it not?
- 38:27No, it sounded like Taco Bell. That that one's definitely Taco
- 38:35Bell. That one is definitely Friday
- 38:38the 13th. It's the undertaker.
- 38:40I was going to say it's not like wrestling.
- 38:46I think they are actually the same bell.
- 38:48It's just, you know, they put different effects on the
- 38:51undertakers to make it lower. And yeah, yeah, I don't know
- 38:59about you guys, but I'm getting a little thirsty.
- 39:00How about you, Fanny? I'm getting pretty thirsty too.
- 39:02I think it's time that we start to.
- 39:05Take a drink break. Yes, yes, let's do it.
- 39:09And this is a real break too, at Community's restaurant.
- 39:19Thanks for the coffee, Emily. I really needed it.
- 39:22No problem. We gotta hurry because we're
- 39:24always. Late.
- 39:25Oh no, the lights turning red. No.
- 39:28Oh man, there's copy everywhere. Where are the napkins?
- 39:31Don't worry about it, we can just go ahead and I'll schedule
- 39:34with two U auto. They'll come to where we're at
- 39:36and then they'll clean it while we're at the wedding.
- 39:38OK, you drive I'll schedule with two U auto.
- 39:40What's the website? Go to two U auto dot.
- 39:43Com wait what was it again? The number 2, the letter U
- 39:48auto.com Perfect. OK.
- 39:54Cure a few moments later, 2000 years later.
- 40:00Oh wow, that was for me I guess, bitch.
- 40:12Oh. Petty.
- 40:14I know. It was at this moment he knew he
- 40:18fucked. Up.
- 40:51And we are back from the break. We've got a drink made.
- 40:58It's very nice and refreshing so far, especially sitting here in
- 41:03the summer night in this room that we are recording in.
- 41:08Or in wherever you'll have us listening to in your ears.
- 41:12Yeah, you're in your garage working on your car.
- 41:15I know it's hot out there. Yeah, we also like to do
- 41:20mocktails. So shout out to Danny for giving
- 41:22us a reason to do a mocktail and not drink because, you know, we
- 41:25also don't drink sometimes, but we do enjoy a good alcoholic
- 41:31drink, but also a good like just refreshing drink.
- 41:34So we got to just make a nice simple mojito, but, you know,
- 41:38without the alcohol. Yeah, I also had like 10 plus
- 41:42shots of Hennessy early. So I was trying to leave that
- 41:46part out. I was trying to say that we're I
- 41:50was trying to make a sound super innocent you.
- 41:53Love a little cocktail situation, you know?
- 41:55Exactly what do you think? It's amazing, yeah, so
- 41:58refreshing It is needed with how hard it is right now.
- 42:02Not the excessive heat warning. Yeah, literally.
- 42:05Yeah, that did just come through an excessive heat warning to
- 42:08like next Wednesday. Damn.
- 42:11Like, oh. Yeah, it's that time in the
- 42:15summer. And then like, I feel like we
- 42:17get it up until like September. Yeah.
- 42:19Yeah. Like it just gets like really
- 42:21unbearable during this time. Yeah, so tell us a little bit
- 42:24about this mocktail here. It's a Mojito mocktail.
- 42:28Yes. Looks like we've got some mint
- 42:30in there. Yeah, So, you know, just to make
- 42:33this at home super simple, just muddle up a bunch of mint, add
- 42:36some club soda, some simple syrup, some lime juice, or just
- 42:39some water with sugar in it too. You don't necessarily need to go
- 42:43buy simple syrup. It's super easy to just do that
- 42:46and then add some ice and peace hot dog, I guess.
- 42:51Yeah, I don't know. Works works for me.
- 42:53Like I said earlier, would be perfect in any hot climate.
- 42:57I said it would be perfect if I was sitting there in Laos.
- 43:00Oh yeah. On the porch.
- 43:02Do you miss Laos right now? I'm talking to my wife.
- 43:07Aw. Do you miss your wife?
- 43:08Right now, can you get in the kitchen and cook me with some
- 43:10pork? Wow, I'll be.
- 43:12Dope. Right now.
- 43:14Wow. Kobe.
- 43:18And that's the real reason you got married 1st.
- 43:26When are you going back again? I don't know, it'll be a while.
- 43:30We're still working on like immigration papers and stuff.
- 43:34No, I mean like when you're gonna go back.
- 43:36Yeah, to go pick her up. Oh, you're not gonna go again
- 43:39and. Like the summer?
- 43:40Is it? Yeah, yeah, yeah, I want to, but
- 43:43we'll see what happens. Yeah, fair.
- 43:45I gotta. That's why I've been chasing
- 43:47down all the dollars that I can. Fair, Yeah.
- 43:50It's expensive back here, yeah. Let's go into more about how
- 43:55you've been chasing down these dollars.
- 44:00But you know, also maybe chasing dollars in a different way.
- 44:03I don't know what. I don't want to sexualize it.
- 44:05But you know, you've also started to do events for LGBTQ.
- 44:11Oh yes. So this year we teamed up with a
- 44:15few others. Well, a few others teamed up
- 44:17with us. They have brought us on the
- 44:19contracted ICT bazaars to be a part of Dragging Douglas.
- 44:23It's its own brand new entity. So it's Dragging Douglas ICT,
- 44:27but we're also working on more events we are meeting.
- 44:31Actually, so it's not gonna just be in June.
- 44:34Correct. At least I think right now, let
- 44:36me not put any hopes out there, but we're working on other
- 44:41things at the moment. But we started it with well,
- 44:45Fabian, the one that spearheaded the entire thing.
- 44:49He his big, big thing is exposure.
- 44:54So he wanted to like basically expose Wichita to and you know,
- 44:59everything about Pride, not just coming and waving flags and
- 45:03stuff like real deal, like gay shit.
- 45:06And he is, he works at Wichita Public schools.
- 45:12I don't really know his position, like he's in like the
- 45:15admin side of things, but he also is a big part of Riverfest.
- 45:21And so he had asked Riverfest if they wanted to do like a pride
- 45:26theme thing. And you know, of course, the
- 45:28city said a big fat no. Wow, these bitches, Yeah.
- 45:31But I mean, of course, like, look where we are.
- 45:33I mean, yeah, but I guess like. Yeah, it is what it is.
- 45:38Well, I mean like with the whole drama that happened with Lily Wu
- 45:40with the Tran stuff. Of course they wouldn't want to
- 45:43touch that. Yeah, 10 foot pole.
- 45:45Did you did you read about it? I kind of seen forcefully, like,
- 45:49all over Facebook and stuff. Yeah.
- 45:51And everyone arguing, especially, you know, me being
- 45:54in that realm. Yeah.
- 45:55That's pretty much all I saw on Facebook for a while.
- 45:58Yeah. But yeah.
- 45:59So he had brought that idea up to them.
- 46:01And of course, they shot it down.
- 46:03So he was like, well, I want to do it anyways.
- 46:06And so we were like, oh, he said.
- 46:08I want to do it right outside of Riverfest at the.
- 46:12Same time, I did love that it was right like that.
- 46:15It was also during Riverfest because I think like it allowed
- 46:18you like as someone who wants to, you know, like participate
- 46:23in the city and also wants to just like do something on the
- 46:26weekend. Like it's nice to have those
- 46:28both options in the same day. Absolutely.
- 46:31It was, it was so cool. It was really a really cool
- 46:34experience. But yeah, they, he spearheaded
- 46:37it and then contracted us, was supposed to just be the vendor
- 46:42side of things. But then, you know, he's never
- 46:45thrown an event by himself before.
- 46:47Then he realized there's so much that goes into it.
- 46:49And we've thrown an event from scratch, you know, in many
- 46:52different aspects in different venues and stuff.
- 46:55So we basically helped push everything along.
- 47:00And we met up literally at Las Adelitas every week on Anita's
- 47:05lunch hour. Yeah.
- 47:07And so she came downstairs and while she was eating her lunch,
- 47:10we would all, you know, you know, push the project along and
- 47:14get everything. And it was crazy because it all
- 47:16came together within like, I swear it was like 2 months, not
- 47:20even like, oh, nice. Maybe two months and some
- 47:22change. Like it was crazy that we were
- 47:25able to pull that off. And so many people believed in
- 47:28us and we got so much funding and it was really pretty cool.
- 47:33Yeah. And so it was really fun because
- 47:37we brought in, if you guys are familiar with Q from RuPaul,
- 47:42they were on like the last year's season.
- 47:46I don't really watch RuPaul, but yeah, they were really big on
- 47:50there. And so they are actually from
- 47:53Emporia. Oh, I didn't know that.
- 47:54That's. Crazy.
- 47:55Yeah. Q lives in Kansas City and they
- 47:58are from Emporia, but their partner is from Wichita.
- 48:02What? Yes.
- 48:03So how did you guys like get in contact with them?
- 48:05So Fabian, the one that spearheaded the event, yeah, he,
- 48:10I don't know how he got to this point, but he talked to some
- 48:13management and it's like a like a talent team and they have a
- 48:18whole scope of artists, not necessarily just that one
- 48:22person. So they represent a whole bunch
- 48:23of different talent. And I think the talent that they
- 48:26specialize is drag Queens and stuff, or that's just a big part
- 48:29of what they do. So basically that was who was
- 48:34available and within the budget and we made it happen and it was
- 48:40really cool. My favorite thing about that
- 48:42aspect that goes further into the beliefs of Dummy or sorry,
- 48:47the beliefs of ICT bazaars, we were able to give a really,
- 48:52really big opportunity to. So we had a fashion show as
- 48:56well, which Dummy was a part of. So not only do we have some
- 48:59fashion people that were on the same stage as Q, we had local,
- 49:04we had Q as the headliner and then everybody else at, I don't
- 49:08remember the number, I'm sorry, but maybe like four or five drag
- 49:10Queens. And they were all local artists.
- 49:13So we were able to give them the platform of working alongside
- 49:17this celebrity drag queen. So that was a really big part of
- 49:22it. And I feel like that is really
- 49:24good for them to add to their resume portfolio.
- 49:26For sure. Book further things.
- 49:29So having them there and also a lot of them, which kind of
- 49:34pisses me off a lot of them said that this is the most that they
- 49:37were ever paid for, you know, doing an event.
- 49:40So I'm like oh, so these people not paying you all enough or at
- 49:43all. So we need to work on that.
- 49:45Wichita. Yeah.
- 49:47Yeah. And so like going back to that,
- 49:49maybe that's also why, like you're trying to do these events
- 49:51more. So like now you're setting a
- 49:53standard. Exactly.
- 49:54And the standard has been set and like, people need to step up
- 49:57too. Right.
- 49:58And also Dusty can attest to this.
- 50:01Like, you know, we pay him because he brings a lot of
- 50:03talent and also, you know, he brings in some other talent too.
- 50:08I, I kind of go into it being like, hey, what's, what's your
- 50:12rates? This is kind of like my budget.
- 50:14And then we kind of work something out.
- 50:15And I kind of like to do that with all the artists because I
- 50:19believe in paying people what they're worth.
- 50:21And, but also on my side of things, I like to kind of, you
- 50:24know, shave off the budget where I can.
- 50:26So it's like a happy medium. A happy medium between
- 50:29everybody. Yeah.
- 50:30And everybody wins and everybody wins, including the patrons,
- 50:33because they get a grand old time.
- 50:35Yeah. And most of the time it's for
- 50:36free. Yeah.
- 50:36Because we don't really charge for our stuff.
- 50:39So yeah, it's pretty cool. Do you see a future where maybe
- 50:43you guys would want to charge? Yes, I do want to dive into like
- 50:48ticketed events because I trying to sell tickets gives me
- 50:52anxiety. I did do an event, well we were
- 50:56trying to do an event called brunch and beats that we're
- 50:58going to have Dusty do. And I literally sold 2 tickets
- 51:01to it and I was trying to sell so many more and it literally
- 51:05kind of like crushed me in a way.
- 51:07And so I'm like scared and it put me off from doing ticketed
- 51:10events. But I started leaning back into
- 51:12it more with just craft parties because those are easier spaces
- 51:15to. So we've actually been selling
- 51:17out of all of the craft parties that we've been doing.
- 51:20Granted, it's not like, you know, like 50-60 tickets or
- 51:22nothing, but we're still doing sold out classes.
- 51:25So that's pretty cool. But I definitely want to dive
- 51:29deeper into doing ticketed events, especially because now
- 51:32that we have experience working with talent agencies, I can dive
- 51:36deeper into that in bringing other talent.
- 51:39And I've kind of talked to Dusty a little bit about like some
- 51:41recommendations of some people that we should bring in.
- 51:44Oh yeah, And maybe that's type of thing that what we would
- 51:46charge for. And I kind of see it, don't get
- 51:51the negative connotation from this, but I kind of see it the
- 51:53way of how like Riverfest does their ticketing where like you
- 51:56get a lot of bang for your buck. I mean, but it has to actually
- 51:58be good bang for your buck. OK, sure.
- 52:00I feel like with Riverfest it's a lot of bang for your buck, but
- 52:03it's not any of the bang I would want to, you know?
- 52:06Yeah, exactly. It's not no bang that I want to
- 52:09buck. Like we would bring in actual
- 52:11cool people and actual like things that, you know, people
- 52:15want to see, not just some random whatever we can book type
- 52:17shit. So I would like to do something
- 52:21like that where maybe if they're paying, they get a lot more for
- 52:27it than. Yeah, for sure.
- 52:28Which? You see other places so that
- 52:30would be lovely to get into. Yeah.
- 52:32I think like like on that like cuz you're trying to bring
- 52:36talent in more and you're trying to do that.
- 52:38Like do you think like other events or vendor set up
- 52:44sometimes, especially in Wichita, want to play it safe
- 52:47and like maybe don't always think like, you know, you again,
- 52:52like you guys were talking about the event that you did for pride
- 52:55and wanting to do it in more than just in June and asking the
- 53:01asking Riverfest if they wanted to do something and they said
- 53:03no. And now it's like, OK, do you
- 53:06kind of see that? Like, is that true?
- 53:08Is that not true that maybe some businesses and some events want
- 53:10to play it safe or feel like I can't dive into that area and
- 53:14you're trying not to do that? I feel like yes and no because
- 53:18they're playing it safe as in a lot of people just kind of focus
- 53:21solely on local, which I feel like that's good because you
- 53:25know, when we want to, we all know we got to keep the money in
- 53:27the community. But also you need to open your
- 53:30arms a little bit and bring in other talent to kind of cushion
- 53:34and also add on to that. Because no matter what, when you
- 53:39bring in other talent like, you know, you see like interest Bank
- 53:43Arena, whenever they have an event and they, let's say, you
- 53:46know, they brought Justin Timberlake or they will.
- 53:47I don't know if that's already happened, but you're going to
- 53:50have so many people that come in not just from Wichita, but
- 53:52maybe, you know, Celina, Manhattan, they're going to
- 53:54drive over here and they're going to be spending money at
- 53:56our hotels, at all the local restaurants and stuff.
- 53:59So I feel like it's more than just like people are focusing
- 54:02too much on local music and rather than adding on to that,
- 54:09as well as the people that aren't playing it safe, they're
- 54:12just playing it wrong. But there are a lot of people
- 54:17here that are doing great though that I that I really love.
- 54:20So it's not just all bad. Yeah, for sure.
- 54:23So like take us for example, how would you take, how would you
- 54:26help us like level it up? What would you tell us that we
- 54:30need to do? Like as far as like your
- 54:33branding or as far as what? Yeah, whatever.
- 54:35Like maybe just the branding or maybe just the pod.
- 54:38Like what do you feel like y'all need to do more too?
- 54:40Like how? Like what?
- 54:42What do you see? What do you think?
- 54:43Oh, that's a. And, and you can spy here, I
- 54:46mean, but you, you could tell us.
- 54:47I want to hear this. So I will say like just like for
- 54:51transparency, you know, I don't really listen to podcasts a lot,
- 54:53so I can't give you some like real deal like advice, I guess.
- 54:59But I will say I do like what you're doing with bringing in so
- 55:03many different people because then like for example, like you
- 55:06guys will attach to like my audience, like both sides of it
- 55:09with bazaars as well as dummy. And everybody has their own
- 55:13little audience, no matter how big or small it is, you know,
- 55:16like there's still at least one person like following all these
- 55:19people. So I like that you guys are
- 55:22expanding and just bringing all different types of talent
- 55:25because then you'll get a good mix of people.
- 55:28Like you'll just kind of, I guess grab the people that will
- 55:31gravitate towards you guys. And it's not just all like, for
- 55:34example, tattoo people like from before.
- 55:38It's just all different types of people because everyone supports
- 55:40businesses, whether it's a local business, it's a this type of
- 55:43business, it's a that type of business.
- 55:45So the fact that you guys are diving into each different
- 55:48aspects while still like staying true to like your brand, I
- 55:54really like that. And I do like that you guys have
- 55:56branding compared to like a lot of businesses and a lot of
- 56:00entities. They don't really focus on
- 56:02branding. Yeah, I think that's a really
- 56:04big thing and like the catchy name and stuff.
- 56:07So I guess I I can. So you love us?
- 56:10I do. I love you guys.
- 56:12Mostly me if you. If you had to pick between Dusty
- 56:15and I, who would you pick? I had to pick my cousin.
- 56:17I'm sorry, that's not even a question.
- 56:22I didn't just do that. Hey, you set yourself up for
- 56:26that. One I did.
- 56:27You're right. You're right.
- 56:27You're right. You're right.
- 56:28That's fine. That's true.
- 56:30OK, OK. Shit.
- 56:33I'm so sorry. My thing is going off and I
- 56:35swear I freaking put this on. Shut up mode.
- 56:40That used to happen to me, like, like going off like in class and
- 56:43stuff. Like you put your phone like, on
- 56:45silent stuff, but then forget about your laptop, Yeah.
- 56:48Like fuck, OK, so sorry about that.
- 56:52OK, but speaking about maybe not bitches, but just like speaking
- 56:57about setting yourself up for failure.
- 57:01There's a study that's been going around.
- 57:05I wouldn't say super around, but I I, I recently caught wind of
- 57:09it about like how men also fake orgasms, which I think like is
- 57:14human right? Because faking something is to
- 57:17any it's not gender exclusive. Right.
- 57:20And so like the study though, like the first one from like the
- 57:24Journal of Sex Research, which was in 2010, it said that like,
- 57:28which was a really small sample size, like 180 men, so that
- 57:32about like 25% of them faked in orgasm, which I don't know, I
- 57:36was kind of like, that seems low.
- 57:39But well, maybe the first time I heard it, I also kind of thought
- 57:41maybe a little high, but then like I was like, oh, yeah, I
- 57:44guess I do too. Or I guess in my head, I've
- 57:46always put ejaculation and orgasm for men.
- 57:52That's the same thing, but it's not the same thing.
- 57:54I didn't know that. I had to Google that.
- 57:58You guys probably do that. I didn't know that.
- 58:00But what I'm trying to say by that is that like later on in
- 58:042024, so just last year, that number recently increased to
- 58:09like 34% and the number just continues to increase.
- 58:12Like, you know, like if you're you're queer, you might do it
- 58:1683% of the time. So have you guys faked it?
- 58:23I would say probably yes. Yes.
- 58:27What do you mean? Probably yes.
- 58:29You don't know when you have or haven't.
- 58:33I try to black out a bunch of the times that I've had that
- 58:38stuff just because I just, I hate thinking about like me with
- 58:43other men. Like it just grosses me out.
- 58:49Like just thinking about it. Like I don't know how to explain
- 58:53it. You don't enjoy sex.
- 58:56No, I do OK, but like like as I have a partner, yes, so think
- 59:02about me with other men. I'm just like, I like to black
- 59:05that out, but I see there's been a men just suck.
- 59:09They do. And not good enough.
- 59:12Like, the bar's so low. Like, it's like, Oh my God, he
- 59:15listened to me. Yeah.
- 59:17And it's like, yay. Yeah, and even in the gay world,
- 59:20a lot of men are out for themselves, like, getting
- 59:22themselves off and stuff, too. So like, I ran into that, like,
- 59:26messing around with guys, like they're just getting their stuff
- 59:31to handle. Yeah.
- 59:33And like, I don't really care about my end of things.
- 59:36I'm like, Oh my gosh, yeah, I might as well just use a sex
- 59:39doll. Yeah, for real.
- 59:41That's the Have you faked it? Yeah.
- 59:46Yeah, recently. I just don't answer that because
- 59:52you're married now. Never mind.
- 59:57Sorry, wrong question, wrong audience.
- 1:00:02Yeah, I don't. I don't know.
- 1:00:05I did. You want to.
- 1:00:06Know. About that shit, I don't know.
- 1:00:07I was going to go somewhere else and then like.
- 1:00:10I just had to fake it. Yeah, fake.
- 1:00:12It till you make it. Yeah, I guess like that, that's
- 1:00:15what I, I remember now where I was going with it.
- 1:00:18Like, you know, and like, I think as a girl, like you do it
- 1:00:23because you just want it to be over with.
- 1:00:25Right. Is that similar for guys too?
- 1:00:29Yeah. But is there, is there ever like
- 1:00:31an issue of like it being tied to like maybe like you don't
- 1:00:34want to admit to that, that you faked it?
- 1:00:35I mean, in both instances, right.
- 1:00:37Like I think like as a girl, like I'd be kind of embarrassed
- 1:00:40to tell the guy that. Like I didn't enjoy that.
- 1:00:42Yes, because I don't want. Yeah, yeah, I'll just, like
- 1:00:47leave and never talk to them again.
- 1:00:49I didn't. I didn't feel bad either times,
- 1:00:53any of the times that I did it. It's just like, man, I just want
- 1:00:55to go to sleep, man. Freaking yeah.
- 1:00:57This shit wasn't my idea. She wasn't finding that that's
- 1:01:03true. Yeah.
- 1:01:04Usually like when that when you're like faking something or
- 1:01:07not or just wanting something to be done with, it's not something
- 1:01:10that you initiated typically, yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:13It's usually the other person and just kind of like trying to
- 1:01:18help them feel better I guess. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:23Yeah. And like, why is that?
- 1:01:24Like we kind of suck at being able to put the boundary there
- 1:01:27or what? It's a.
- 1:01:28Story, a story. It's the beginning, a middle and
- 1:01:31an end. You know, there's any, any sort
- 1:01:34of task that you do, you start it and then you finish it.
- 1:01:38That's the end. There's the beginning and an end
- 1:01:41to life, to everything, possibly the universe.
- 1:01:46It's just. Yeah.
- 1:01:48And you went real, real out there with that.
- 1:01:50Was just how. Just how it was, just how it
- 1:01:53works it. Was just how it was, like it was
- 1:01:55the beginning and an end and now.
- 1:01:58So you're high, it's. Just how it works.
- 1:02:05Right, right. I guess I was just kind of going
- 1:02:07with the part a little bit more of like how like I sometimes I
- 1:02:16feel like I don't know enough about the male anatomy like.
- 1:02:19There's not much to it. I didn't know where the what
- 1:02:23what is What is the thing called the the.
- 1:02:25Gooch. Yes I don't.
- 1:02:28I literally had to go and Google that.
- 1:02:29It's a Tinley, yeah. It's a taint.
- 1:02:31You know what the taint is. No.
- 1:02:34Taint. Oh.
- 1:02:35No. It's the in between.
- 1:02:38It is what the Gooch is. It's just the same, different
- 1:02:42names for the same thing. Oh, OK, I guess like I didn't
- 1:02:46realize that it wasn't like. You just thought I didn't.
- 1:02:50You just thought. You just thought.
- 1:02:52You know, whatever you thought, that's what the butt hole was
- 1:02:54you. Didn't No, I know that that was
- 1:02:56different. No, what I'm saying is like, I
- 1:02:59didn't realize that. Like it was just like bearskin,
- 1:03:04you know what I mean? Like like like a.
- 1:03:07Whole different organ. Yeah, I don't know, Like, you
- 1:03:10know, I think in a woman's body, your arousal points are not
- 1:03:17typically just flat surfaces. Yeah.
- 1:03:21You know, you're, I don't know nothing about that woman.
- 1:03:28You never had to fake it. Woman's not.
- 1:03:30That you were. You came out.
- 1:03:32You came out early. I think he can attest this.
- 1:03:36Everyone kind of knew before I did.
- 1:03:38They really did because I used to be like like I would say that
- 1:03:42I wasn't gay but that's cuz I didn't know.
- 1:03:44He's like, he's like, he's like a soft kid.
- 1:03:47Yeah, like, you could just tell. Yeah.
- 1:03:49And I always hung around the girls.
- 1:03:50Yeah. Like in retrospect, I'm like,
- 1:03:52yeah, like everyone just knew. I didn't really have to really
- 1:03:55come out. I didn't really.
- 1:03:56I didn't really like come out, come out and like, to like my
- 1:03:59family. I mean, the only person I really
- 1:04:01told them I think was like my little sister.
- 1:04:04But she was just like, I know. And then it was like anyways.
- 1:04:08Yeah, I feel like that would be like if I ever had kids or like
- 1:04:12me as an aunt or something. I'm not saying that any of them
- 1:04:15are. What I am saying is like, or
- 1:04:18even a friend. Like, I don't ever want someone
- 1:04:20to feel like they're coming out. Right, but I did have to come
- 1:04:23out. Oh, OK.
- 1:04:24But that was like for like peers, like, not, not my family
- 1:04:28like, because, you know, it's just a bigger thing around like
- 1:04:32school and all that. But like I wasn't so much like
- 1:04:36because I wasn't like out, but I wasn't like straight, you know,
- 1:04:39So like there was I had a friend and this was back in freshman
- 1:04:45year. I well, I realized what how it
- 1:04:48all happened. Like when I first realized that
- 1:04:52I liked man I like, I thought that.
- 1:04:55I was wait, sorry, sorry. You should have put like barfing
- 1:04:57noise after that. Like I realized I liked him
- 1:05:00because like that's literally what it feels like.
- 1:05:01So keep going. Whenever I found out that I like
- 1:05:05men, I was just like, oh, maybe I'm bi or maybe I like both.
- 1:05:09I didn't. And so I didn't really think
- 1:05:12about it. And then in high school, I
- 1:05:14realized I was like, oh, I'm straight up gay.
- 1:05:16And I never like messed with a woman or anything.
- 1:05:19And so I had a friend and it was a straight guy.
- 1:05:22And then we got in a big fight and then he threatened to go
- 1:05:25tell everyone that I was gay. And so I was like, you ain't
- 1:05:28even gonna do all that. So then I literally posted it
- 1:05:32myself. And then I just came out myself
- 1:05:34before he could go and make me come out or like, come out for
- 1:05:37me. And then the next day at school,
- 1:05:40I like, rant up to his table and like, I instantly, like, tried
- 1:05:44to fight him. And we both got like, suspended
- 1:05:46and stuff. Oh, shit, yeah, it was crazy.
- 1:05:49But like, he got suspended for like, you know, like hate.
- 1:05:53Yeah, it sounds like it. I mean, because like it one like
- 1:05:57I guess like that's what I was trying to say with that too.
- 1:05:59Like it's not that like I wouldn't want like like I'm just
- 1:06:03kind of like, OK, cool. Like you're you like I, I
- 1:06:05wouldn't want someone to feel like they have to come out to
- 1:06:07me. Like in general, even up here,
- 1:06:09like my friends who are gay, who later on in life, you know,
- 1:06:14finally told their family or whatever, like they never were
- 1:06:17like, hey, I'm gay. Like I just kind of like, I
- 1:06:19don't want them to feel that way I guess.
- 1:06:21You know what I mean? I guess in that sense, I I'm
- 1:06:23blessed because like, I didn't really have to do much or like,
- 1:06:27hide myself in that aspect. Yeah.
- 1:06:29You know, that a lot of people have to go through that battle
- 1:06:32and stuff, but it is kind of crazy because like, like on my
- 1:06:36dad's side, they're very religious.
- 1:06:38And so, you know, and then our family is very traditional.
- 1:06:42Yeah. So it's like both ends of being
- 1:06:45very like religious and stuff and like having like, you know,
- 1:06:50norms, but like so people that I'm surrounded by, it's like no
- 1:06:58one really cares that much. You know, like, which is
- 1:07:00awesome. Yeah, like my dad, like he's,
- 1:07:03you know, he's kind of like he's against it, you know.
- 1:07:05But like anytime I've had like a partner, he'll talk to them and
- 1:07:09he's cool with them, you know, like, I guess they're just kind
- 1:07:11of past it. Like, of course, I feel like now
- 1:07:15I used to think my dad wouldn't come to my wedding, but I kind
- 1:07:17of feel like he would, you know? But religiously, like he that's
- 1:07:22not something that he agrees with.
- 1:07:23Yeah, stuff like that. But yeah, I never really had to
- 1:07:27hide that stuff. I love that for you.
- 1:07:30Oh yeah. Yeah, so, but but I will say
- 1:07:34I've hid myself in different aspects as far as like I didn't
- 1:07:37really come out of my shell until like way later in life.
- 1:07:40I was always quiet and reserved and like to myself and very, you
- 1:07:44know, quiet. But now I'm more outspoken and I
- 1:07:48can actually like, talk to people somewhat.
- 1:07:53I mean, you're talking to us. Yes, literally becoming a
- 1:07:56business owner has helped me so much with socializing and
- 1:08:01learning to talk to people. Yeah.
- 1:08:03Because like. You have to network.
- 1:08:05Yeah, you have no choice. Yeah.
- 1:08:07And no one will advocate for you like you yourself.
- 1:08:09So yeah, that's what I kind of, you know, have practice everyday
- 1:08:14doing. And you feel like that makes
- 1:08:16you, like, tired. Talking to so many people or yes
- 1:08:20because at the end of every day I'm like Oh my God I just want
- 1:08:24to like ignore the world and just bed rot and like the only
- 1:08:27people I want to hear is my TikTok.
- 1:08:29Like because I was. Literally just sit there in bed.
- 1:08:31Like it's crazy. I will literally work 19 hours a
- 1:08:34day, come home and I still have to have my bed rot.
- 1:08:37Like I will literally sit there and I will get high and watch
- 1:08:40TikTok for a while. I don't care.
- 1:08:42That's the only thing that keeps me sane.
- 1:08:43Yeah. And so I get so tired of talking
- 1:08:46to people, networking, because like every day, whether I work
- 1:08:48my morning job or not, I have meetings and I'm talking
- 1:08:52business with people and it just gets so a lot.
- 1:08:55It's raining. Yes, because my mind's
- 1:08:57constantly running, which is a good and bad thing, but also I'm
- 1:09:02just constantly talking to people and, you know, depending
- 1:09:05on the person that I'm meeting with, like if it's someone on
- 1:09:07the more business professional side, I have to have more of
- 1:09:10that business morale. Yeah, but if it's like, you
- 1:09:13know, people like y'all can like, you know, just fuck around
- 1:09:17and say whatever and wait, it's chill.
- 1:09:18It's a chill business meeting. So yeah, I guess either way it
- 1:09:22still gets tiring. Yeah.
- 1:09:23But when it's more so like people that are actually like
- 1:09:27have to sit there and be very businessy with, it gets
- 1:09:32exhausting and a lot. But I'll do it every time.
- 1:09:38Yeah, that's why we're trying to make it like fun here.
- 1:09:41Yeah, I like it. So with that, we're going to
- 1:09:45jump into our next segment here, which we like to call the
- 1:09:48Lightning round are. We going to be on the spot.
- 1:09:53Yeah, yeah, it'll just be like a lightning round of.
- 1:09:56Question. I need a SIP for this.
- 1:09:58You just answer them just kind of what comes to mind first.
- 1:10:03Cool. And yeah, we'll do it.
- 1:10:06You ready? OK, is this about like me or is
- 1:10:08it about just random shape like trivia?
- 1:10:11Sometimes it's just random ship. OK, a lot of this is random
- 1:10:14ship. OK, what's that app?
- 1:10:15So I'm so ready. So first question is sweet or
- 1:10:19savory? What's your preferred flavor
- 1:10:21profile? Sweet, but we always love a
- 1:10:23little savory. I love Lassas and all these.
- 1:10:29When it comes to designing things, do you have like a go to
- 1:10:32font? No, I literally.
- 1:10:35Oh my God, for fonts I was. Dafont.
- 1:10:41Dafont is I'm a dafont girly, OK, But I will sit there and go
- 1:10:46forever. Yeah, like that's like probably
- 1:10:49one of the things that, like, racks my brain.
- 1:10:51Yeah. Fonts.
- 1:10:52But when it comes to like, making Flyers and graphics, I
- 1:10:54have a branding kit which, like helps hone it all in.
- 1:10:56So like, that's good. I'll just pick from like 3-4
- 1:10:59fonts that we have on deck, but when it's like creating new new
- 1:11:03designs, Oh my God don't even get me started anyways.
- 1:11:09What's the most chaotic event you've ever pulled off
- 1:11:11successfully? Like ones that we've hosted or
- 1:11:14ones that we've been a part of. Which everyone comes to your
- 1:11:17mind? Most chaotic 1.
- 1:11:20Let's see. Oh my God, not the lightning
- 1:11:22round. I you're putting me on the spot.
- 1:11:26I would say the most chaotic one would be the very first Asian
- 1:11:30night market. Yeah, that shit was so like.
- 1:11:33Wild NASCAR. Part Yes, that NASCAR part.
- 1:11:35That was super wild. Yes, like my tent broke.
- 1:11:38I was like fuck this shit I'm going home.
- 1:11:39But then literally everything in me told me was like no just just
- 1:11:44see it through my boy. And then we did.
- 1:11:46And then like me and Ian, which was my first employee at the
- 1:11:49time, we literally rock and rolled that shit because he
- 1:11:54convinced me to stay and we literally just did what we
- 1:11:58could. Like it was crazy.
- 1:12:00Like I have storage containers for my earrings that it's just
- 1:12:04for storage. It's like literally so ratchet.
- 1:12:06Like it was like a cardboard box that I just made sections with
- 1:12:09other cardboard boxes. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:12:11I threw that shit on. The table you're very DIY.
- 1:12:13Yes. I threw that shit on the table
- 1:12:15and everyone was ransacking that shit.
- 1:12:17So that shit was so chaotic. In the best way.
- 1:12:19Yeah, in the best way. Worst at first, but it turned
- 1:12:23out being really good. You get to design a shirt for
- 1:12:28any celebrity who isn't and what does it say?
- 1:12:31Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh.
- 1:12:33That's a great question. I don't even know.
- 1:12:35Do I have to answer these so fast?
- 1:12:36No. OK, you can think.
- 1:12:38So a celebrity honestly like it would be one of the housewives.
- 1:12:47One of the housewives. Yeah, just because I really like
- 1:12:49to watch them and they like keep me going because I just see like
- 1:12:52them hustling and stuff. But you said like, what would it
- 1:12:56say? Yeah, dude, I don't even know.
- 1:12:58I don't I really don't know. I would do more something like
- 1:13:03artsy. I don't really like like where
- 1:13:05it's. OK.
- 1:13:06On my merch I like to do more artsy stuff so.
- 1:13:08Is there a color that jumps out that you'd pick?
- 1:13:12For one of them I would say green and pink because I like
- 1:13:15really earthy and green. Green's my favorite color.
- 1:13:17I like how you looked at me when you said that.
- 1:13:20And they, they, a lot of the housewives see more glam and
- 1:13:23pink and stuff and green and pink can be a good little vibe
- 1:13:26because it's a little tropical vibe.
- 1:13:28So depending on which housewife like it would probably be green
- 1:13:30and pink. Yeah, I like that.
- 1:13:34It's one item you always forget to bring to an event.
- 1:13:38To Oh my gosh, that's where no, I do not.
- 1:13:43That's the only thing I will not forget is my vape, but I have to
- 1:13:48have that. But it gets me through, even if
- 1:13:50literally even if they say no smoking, I will go under my
- 1:13:53table and I will hit. That shit, Oh my.
- 1:13:55God, yes, I have to hit that weed like yeah, but one thing
- 1:14:00that I always forget I would say would be my price, my price
- 1:14:05signs or about the square reader.
- 1:14:07But thankfully like on my phone, you can like take like but chip
- 1:14:11or. Oh yeah, that's happening.
- 1:14:14Nice. So like I don't really need it
- 1:14:16anymore, but nice. Oh, and a canopy some like.
- 1:14:19I'll forget my canopy. That one of the big things that
- 1:14:23you really need something that's kind of really hard to miss.
- 1:14:27I will miss it, but I won't forget my vape.
- 1:14:32Priorities. Is there a design pet peeve that
- 1:14:36you have? Like that I see other people do.
- 1:14:40Yeah. Well, I would say like in the
- 1:14:45small business world, I see a lot of people that will buy
- 1:14:48their designs like pre made. So like that's all basically
- 1:14:53it's the same designs that other people have.
- 1:14:55And so it lacks originality about these people.
- 1:14:57Like I get it to steal a small business and you're like making
- 1:15:00the merge, but like you're not using your own designs.
- 1:15:02I feel like that's where it what differentiates us.
- 1:15:04But it's also one big pet peeve of mine.
- 1:15:06That's why I don't do it. And I think that's what also
- 1:15:08catapults us because everything's very original and I
- 1:15:11hate non originality. I hate people biting on other
- 1:15:13bitches. And that's just a really big
- 1:15:16example of that, so. I almost barked.
- 1:15:19Oh. I should get one of those
- 1:15:23buttons. Yeah, you need a barking button.
- 1:15:26For them dowels. Yeah.
- 1:15:30It's your favorite midnight snack.
- 1:15:33Talkies. Talkies.
- 1:15:35Oh, really? I like talkies.
- 1:15:37After you brush your teeth. I yes, I don't care.
- 1:15:40And then you'll brush them again after.
- 1:15:41Maybe not if I fall asleep I literally fall asleep eating
- 1:15:44like out cuz I'll get high and I will bed rot while I'm eating
- 1:15:47snacks. Yeah I'm like that Bishop.
- 1:15:49I will literally go to quick trip and spend like literally
- 1:15:53$25 on just candy, yeah, and a Gatorade and then eat it all and
- 1:16:00fall asleep. Like there's been so many times,
- 1:16:02like so at my old house, some of my employees had keys to my
- 1:16:07house, which sounds weird, but like sometimes I just like will
- 1:16:11be dead asleep or like they'll have to get into like my cuz my
- 1:16:14house was where we did everything before we had the
- 1:16:16store. Yeah.
- 1:16:17So like if they needed something while I wasn't there, they would
- 1:16:19go in and do it or they'd go be able to go there and work while
- 1:16:21I wasn't there. So many times they'd come and
- 1:16:25like for a shift at like 7-8 in the morning and then they'll
- 1:16:27come and open my door and like I'm like there just with like.
- 1:16:32Covered in Takis. Yeah, literally.
- 1:16:36And the Gatorade right next to you, no Shields over, Yeah.
- 1:16:40Yeah, I, I don't look like it, but I got a big back.
- 1:16:44Like for real. It's a it's, it's a big one,
- 1:16:50especially after them dabs. OK.
- 1:16:52Oh. My God.
- 1:16:56Late nights designing or early mornings setting up, Which one's
- 1:16:59worse? Early morning, Late night
- 1:17:04designing. Are you a morning person?
- 1:17:07I'm both. OK.
- 1:17:09Like I when I have a task to do, I will stay up until the tasks
- 1:17:14are done. But like I literally thrive off
- 1:17:18of like 3-4 hours of sleep but I'm a morning person.
- 1:17:21Like except for today I woke up late this morning but I will
- 1:17:24literally be up by like 6:00 AM every day no matter what time I
- 1:17:26go to bed. I think what it stems from is me
- 1:17:29being a barista back in the day. Like I used to work, you know,
- 1:17:33opening shift and get off at noon.
- 1:17:35Loved it every day but it's like ingrained in me and it actually
- 1:17:39helped me with business. Because oh, I bet.
- 1:17:41Yeah. Hell yeah.
- 1:17:42You know, I get a lot of shit done in the mornings and that's
- 1:17:44when I can talk to, like, the city for like, permits and taxes
- 1:17:48and all that bullshit. So yeah, I have to say both.
- 1:17:53Do you sleep early? Do I sleep early?
- 1:17:56Yeah. What time?
- 1:17:56In a perfect world, I do like to sleep early.
- 1:17:59But since I started picking up this morning job again, I've
- 1:18:02been working so much because I'm trained.
- 1:18:06They're playing me right now. Let me just fucking say that
- 1:18:07because. Fucking bitches.
- 1:18:09Yeah. Because photos, I'm literally
- 1:18:11working one position and then training on another one at the
- 1:18:13same time. And so I'm working extra days
- 1:18:17and then I still have to come home and do everything.
- 1:18:22Yeah, like all my business shit and still not get everything
- 1:18:24done. Yeah.
- 1:18:25And so I've been going to bed at like midnight lately, but I like
- 1:18:30to go to bed around like 9. That's that's a good time.
- 1:18:33I think so. I'm trying to get there but it's
- 1:18:37not happening. It's hard.
- 1:18:38Well, I mean, you're trying to talk to your wife, and so you're
- 1:18:41like staying up pretty late just to be able to talk to her.
- 1:18:44Yeah, sometimes it's like 11 midnight to where, you know,
- 1:18:49it's 11:00 AM to noon over there.
- 1:18:52So yeah, sometimes it's like that.
- 1:18:55Sometimes when I'm like, hey, how about you get up at 7:00 and
- 1:18:598:00? True.
- 1:19:01Talk to me around then. Turn that table, yeah.
- 1:19:04True compromise. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:19:09So, All right, Essential market playlist vibe.
- 1:19:13Oh shit, so like what music I would play?
- 1:19:18So I guess I could say like further than that.
- 1:19:21Like in my store, like the playlist, I like to play like
- 1:19:25indie surf rock music. That's because I feel like
- 1:19:28that's it kind of stimulates sails, but in like a
- 1:19:31comfortable, relaxing way. Like it's not too much, but it's
- 1:19:33also very like different. But I do mostly at events they
- 1:19:40get to pick the music and it's kind of rowdy crazy music, which
- 1:19:43is the shit I don't want. But yeah, I like indie rock,
- 1:19:49indie surf rock. That's my type of vibe.
- 1:19:51So nothing specific, but just that genre.
- 1:19:56So we've now heard a little bit about you, your stories, your
- 1:19:59passions and some of your interests as well.
