- 0:11Hello friends, it's Sean here and it is Friday.
- 0:16You've made it to the end of another week.
- 0:18It's the 2nd of May and we are coming together to crack open
- 0:25this age old wisdom. Wisdom passed down from arguably
- 0:30the wisest dude whoever did live.
- 0:33Yes, King Solomon, who captured these so that you and I can be a
- 0:39little bit smarter and we can know a little bit more precisely
- 0:43how God actually wants us to live and how we can do this in a
- 0:47wise, wise way. I'm all up for that because just
- 0:51ask my wife, I can do with all the wisdom I can possibly get my
- 0:55hands on. Yes.
- 0:57So let us read together the next batch of proverbs as we read
- 1:02together Proverbs 12/8 to 14. A sensible person wins
- 1:17admiration, but a warped mind is despised.
- 1:24A sensible person wins admiration, but a warped mind is
- 1:29despised. Better to be an ordinary person
- 1:34with a servant than to be self important but have no food.
- 1:41Better to be an ordinary person with a servant than to be self
- 1:46important but have no food. The godly care for their
- 1:54animals, but the wicked are always cruel.
- 1:59The godly care for their animals, but the wicked are
- 2:02always cruel. A hard worker has plenty of
- 2:09food, but a person who chases fantasies has no sense.
- 2:17A hard worker has plenty of food, but a person who chases
- 2:21fantasies has no sense. Thieves are jealous of each
- 2:29other's loot, but the godly are well rooted and bear their own
- 2:33fruit. Thieves are jealous of each
- 2:39other's loot, but the godly are well rooted and bear their own
- 2:43fruit. The wicked are trapped by their
- 2:49own words, but the godly escape such trouble.
- 2:56The wicked are trapped by their own words, but the godly escape
- 3:02such trouble. Wise words bring many benefits,
- 3:09and hard work brings rewards. Wise words bring many benefits
- 3:16and hard work brings rewards. Our father, thank you for your
- 3:32wisdom. Thank you that you want to speak
- 3:36into our lives today. All these thousands of years
- 3:41after Solomon ruled and shared his wisdom with his people here
- 3:45it is still applying to us. And Lord, we hear this one
- 3:50proverb that says that those who follow you will care for their
- 3:55animals. Not just our animals, Lord, but
- 3:59those who live in your ways and follow you and your preference
- 4:04for the world. Care for those without power,
- 4:08for the vulnerable. Our Lord, help us to reflect who
- 4:13in our lives are without agency? Who do we know who struggles to
- 4:19have control over the elements that would push them this way or
- 4:22that? Just like one of our animals
- 4:25would be someone that even society may consider less
- 4:31valuable than us. And Lord, prompt our hearts that
- 4:38we would know how to uphold them, how to provide care for
- 4:44them. That's inspired by you, Lord.
- 4:51We don't want cruelty in our lives either cruelty that we
- 4:56plan and execute, or cruelty from actions that we don't even
- 5:00consider but are equally cruel to those who receive them.
- 5:05Our Lord, make us people of your Kingdom who care for others,
- 5:12particularly those without any opportunity to protect or care
- 5:16for themselves, because we know that you cared for us when we
- 5:21were lost and without any agency of our own.
- 5:24Thank you for your care for us. We are so grateful and we just
- 5:30praise you Jesus and pray all of this in your name, Amen.
