- Greg: Good morning, friends. It's Friday, May 22nd. Once again, I am your host, Greg Miller, and this is Beliefs, Ballots and Bets. Today we get a short reminder that when we're exhausted, God doesn't run out of power. The scripture verse of the day is from the book of Isaiah chapter 40, and it tells us how and where to get real strength when our tanks are empty. Let's read the verses. It's actually Isaiah chapter 40, ⁓ Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives us strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall. But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not be faint. You know, quickly it's Isaiah starts this, this passage with, with two questions. Do you not know? Have you not heard? I think this is, this is a powerful way where he's, he's asking us to, kind of wake up and go, Hey, look, do you realize what you're, what you're working with here? I think sometimes we, we forget the truth that, that God is the everlasting creator. Unlike us, he doesn't get tired. He doesn't grow weary. And that matters because this verse is addressing people who are worn out because of what they're going through. Not because God is distant, but just because life gets heavy sometimes. And, you know, the good news in all this is that it's what Isaiah is telling us here. God gives strength to the weary. He increases the power of the weak. This isn't a promise that the hardships will disappear or that you won't face them at all. It's just saying that when we place our hope in God, when we intentionally look to Him, our strength is renewed and we don't grow weary. The images in this passage of renewed freedom and energy and to run and not grow weary, that's what it's trying to tell us is to place our faith so strongly in Him that we gain His strength in us. capacity is endless. is one of the big takeaways here. He doesn't get tired. He will not exhaust. His capacity is truly and utterly limitless. And that's something that we can barely even comprehend. Renewal in this passage is linked to hope. Hope in the Lord is an active trust, not just a passive waiting. You're not just sitting around. It's an active trust of hoping and believing and having faith that the Lord will provide a way. And then renewal changes how we live. We're enabled to keep going because of the strength he gives us, not by our grit and our determination alone, but it's his sustaining power. We all know people who, for whatever reason, their cell phone is always at 15 % or less. They're always in low power mode and always scrambling for a charger. And I think what Isaiah is trying to tell us here is not to be that way. God is the ultimate charger. And when you plug into Him and you do so regularly through prayer, through scripture, through rest and just peace time with Him and community, faith-filled community, people who share your beliefs, when you stay plugged into those things, your battery is constantly replenished. You're still gonna face storms. You're still gonna have hurdles and obstacles come your way. but you won't be running on empty when they do. And that's, that's the key here. And that's really what this passage is telling us is to, to stay plugged in and we stay plugged in because we know he is our source of strength. He is our source of power and he does not grow tired. All right. Onto the plays of the day. We're, were two and two yesterday puts us to 24 and 15 since we've, since we've been tracking them on the show for plays again today, we're sticking with four baseball plays. Quick shout out to the Knicks. I've played the Cavs twice in a row and I think I've learned my lesson. This Knicks team's playing really good. We'll see what the numbers pose when the Cavs get back to Cleveland, but right now this Knicks team looks like they're gonna run through the Cavs pretty quick. Four plays today. We got some afternoon baseball, so you're gonna wanna check these early. Houston Astros at Chicago Cubs, we're going over the total of seven. Minnesota Twins at the Boston Red Sox, we're going over the total of seven and a half. We're going to take the Mets on the road minus 120 at the Miami Marlins. And then we're to take the Seattle Mariners plus 115 on the road at the Kansas City Royals. We're we've been on a streak of kind of breaking even just juicing out here, not what we want. So hopefully we'll have a good day, but win or lose tonight. And remember what the passage is saying here. Our deepest strength comes from God. If we live in the word of Isaiah and we spend time with the Lord consistently. This is only going to continue to renew your strength and keep you from ever having to to operate through a tough time on on a low spiritual battery. There's no reason for any of us to be in low power mode. He's there. He's waiting on you. Just reach out and communicate with him and he will renew you. I promise. As always, guys, remember, get in your Bible, say your prayers, love one another and tell the truth. God bless.
