- speaker-0: Welcome. speaker-1: Welcome to the Justice Sisters podcast. speaker-0: Doesn't come with speaker-1: So we made a podcast. Welcome to episode 34 on pet peeves. You're seeing one of them right there with Sheryl and her inability to sit still. But we're going to move forward with introducing my sisters. Number one, Susan. Number two, Sheryl, and number four, Stacy. I am Shelly the host today, and we look forward to talking to you about pet peeves. We're gonna jump right in with what is one tiny Any completely irrational thing that immediately ruins your mood. speaker-0: Last minute appointments. speaker-3: bad drivers who think they need to speed up and get in front of me and then ten minutes later they're right beside me. People that speaker-2: Can't follow instructions. speaker-1: Especially when I'm running late and there's a long line are people who don't know their order when they get up to the front of the line. That will definitely affect my mood. I don't speaker-3: wouldn't like explain that for us. speaker-1: Like Starbucks. I mean, you know your order at Starbucks, but you get up to the front of the line and you start going it's that kind of stuff that just is difficult. If you had to ban one everyday sound from the earth starting tomorrow, what would it be? Bark. speaker-0: Dog's nails on LV. speaker-1: P P speaker-4: You speaker-3: Go with barking dogs. speaker-1: Those sound very personal. speaker-3: Or the dogs the dog toys that go eat. speaker-1: Okay, how about styrofoam? speaker-3: Well. speaker-4: It's. speaker-1: On a scale of one to ready to flip a table, how easily annoyed are you on a normal day? One's speaker-2: Is one the worst? speaker-1: the least. Mine's speaker-2: Yeah. speaker-1: probably between a four and a five, which isn't surprising because I tend to have a few more pet peeves than my sisters. So we're going to do another scale. This is on a scale from one to ten, with one being pretty much not annoyed at all. With ten being, my gosh, if they don't stop. Okay? Somewhere between one and ten. These happen to be what? speaker-2: Mm-hmm. speaker-3: Well no. speaker-2: Why do so many things annoy you? speaker-1: I don't like people impacting other people with their actions. Yeah. speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-1: Yeah. When you hear the top twenty five most common pet peeves, I think in some cases these can be avoided and yet people do them anyway. And I'm a justice seeker and so it gets annoying. That's the bottom line. Yeah, these are the top twenty five things. But Most common pet peeves. By the way, I wanted to have a dog named Peev so I could call it my pet peeves. speaker-3: We don't want a dog, shall we? speaker-2: Yeah, good. speaker-4: . speaker-1: Okay, number one, chewing sounds or noises on a scale from one to ten, Susan? Ten. speaker-0: Sherm? speaker-2: Ten. speaker-3: two. speaker-1: See, it does bother some of y'all. Another one, repetitive tapping. Eight, two, two, Susan. Sheryl, two. Well, it can't bother you too bad because you're the worst at it. speaker-2: Me or Susan? speaker-4: You. speaker-1: Stacy, what about you? Hey. speaker-3: That's one that gets me especially on TikToks when they're going Can't take it. speaker-1: It's the the leg, Andy, Andy's leg gets going, and I you just hear I'm like, What's the knocking? It's Andy's leg. Okay. Interrupting during a conversation. speaker-0: I'm bad at that. speaker-1: So So you're the one doing it? speaker-0: Yeah, I'm the one doing it. But I it doesn't bother me for someone to interrupt. So speaker-3: bad at it as well and I've been learning about it because I have ADHD. I I don't like to be interrupted because then I will forget what I was telling you and you'll have to go through twelve stories to get there. But I don't mind interrupting you. So speaker-2: Three, but I do interrupt. speaker-1: Okay, what about texting during a meal? speaker-3: Three. speaker-0: If we're at a restaurant, it would g be higher, like seven or eight. But at home sometimes it just you know, so I would say a three or four. speaker-2: I'm a one or two because if I'm texty, I'm not texting for fun at the table. speaker-3: Yeah, true. speaker-1: yours and and Susan's job requires you to, you know, get a quick response back. And sometimes unfortunately that is in the middle of a meal. And so I there are exceptions, but when you're trying to have a family dinner or you're out with your spouse, you know, I look around and everybody has their phone up at other tables and and I'm just like, why? Why? Let's get back to face to face, eyes and eyes. Yeah. How about taking phone calls in public like coffee shops and restaurants? speaker-2: You mean what one to ten? Us taking it or somebody else taking it? speaker-1: Someone else taking it. speaker-0: While they're with us or speaker-1: We're just in the same coffee shop as you. speaker-3: So speaker-0: Well, I don't mind that at all. speaker-3: or just talking? speaker-1: Actually that's the next one. So you could kind of combine these. What if they're FaceTiming or on speakerphone without earbuds in? speaker-2: go outside if I have a to take a a call. I do take calls when I'm at restaurants and when I'm at a coffee shop, but I'll go outside. speaker-0: It doesn't bother me i if they start FaceTiming. Honestly the earbuds bother me more than w when they're talking 'cause I think they're talking to me and I'm thinking, Well, I don't know anything about that but they have I'm trying to answer and they're not talking to me. They're talking to I speaker-3: I had multiple conversations with people who weren't talking to me at all. speaker-0: So And they probably didn't even hear you. speaker-1: The worst is in the bathroom. I'll start answering them and going on with the conversation and next thing I hear is some weird woman next to me won't stop talking. So we asked our Facebook followers to give us their top pet peeves and Alicia said that people speaking on a speakerphone in a public setting is one of her top pet peeves. How about throat? Clearing and coughing noises. speaker-2: We can't help that. speaker-3: Hey, it's just a reason for me to go home from work. I'm like not safe here. I need to go work from my home office. Somebody's spreading the covet. So I'm all right with it. I'm just like peace out. speaker-1: So Susan, do you have an opinion on throat clearing? speaker-0: You know, it just depends on how deep and how guttural it is. If it gets if they start hawking up loogies, I'm I'm out of there. It's ooh. speaker-1: Yeah, yeah. I'll actually start gagging today. speaker-2: I had to go get my mammogram and I had to tell all the you got a fever? No, you've been coughing? No. And I get in there right before I put my boob up there. I had the biggest coughing fit and I it wasn't a hawker, a loogie. It was I just couldn't stop coughing. She had to leave and go get me water before she'd smash my booby. speaker-3: It probably a a nervous mechanism or something. speaker-2: Not make me nervous at all. speaker-1: No, she hasn't gotten over whatever she had. How about this one? Leaving drawers and cabinets open. speaker-2: Love that. I love that. I love doing that. speaker-3: Cheryl's like, I don't have to open it. I can just go get the silver out speaker-0: That would be a six for me. speaker-3: Yeah, maybe a seven, yeah. speaker-2: I'm at one on that. I've always wondered how come you don't leave your drawers open, Johnny? speaker-4: Ha ha ha. speaker-1: Kind of along the same lines, not screwing the lids back onto bottles or even worse, screwing them on halfway. speaker-2: Who does that? speaker-1: It's in the top twenty-five most common pet peeves, so apparently there are people doing it. Number ten is scraping silverware on your speaker-0: Doesn't bother me one bit. speaker-2: Do you mean on the like the bone speaker-1: pink. speaker-3: Keep speaker-2: Like there might be like cereal. I don't like that. speaker-3: do it. I think we all do it. You gotta get the good stuff. speaker-2: What do you have stuff? speaker-3: Show by some bowls with the straw. speaker-0: You just lick speaker-2: No, I just drink the rest of it instead of clink it. speaker-1: Number eleven is cutting lines. speaker-2: That ticks me off. speaker-0: That is not right. speaker-2: Now, when I was a kid I didn't cut the line a lot. I'd go up to somebody and hey, can I speaker-0: What really bothers me is when you're driving and you're in line to exit and someone passes you and gets ahead and then gets over real quick. I'm like, Get in line. Yeah. I'm not gonna let you in. Yeah. I had to wait in line, you can too. speaker-3: I'm with you suit. speaker-1: Alicia is kind of like me, having more than one pet peeve. And this one was also in her top two, which is standing up at the exact moment the plane gets to the gate. speaker-2: Well, if they're not trying to leave, I think hers was if they're trying to get up in front. speaker-0: See, I don't mind standing up. speaker-2: I stand up immediately. speaker-1: It speaker-0: You're trying to get up there. speaker-1: Yeah. And her exception obviously was if you're about to miss your connecting flight. Yeah. You know, let everyone just sit down and let you go. But when everyone stands and starts to I I'm probably a little bit guilty of that, but I don't I don't position myself in front of people that would normally be in front of me. Yeah. speaker-3: So go it goes right there with line cutting, I think. Because it if you're trying to get in front of everybody, yeah, that's not right. Okay. Wait, I will spread out in the middle of the aisle and make you wait on me. speaker-1: Aunt Susan brought up driving, what about driving too slow? speaker-2: Like that. When people get in front of me and they're in the left hand lane, they're not going five miles above the speed limit like everybody else. speaker-0: Well, I just think if you don't have a pet peeve about me passing you up fast, then I'm not gonna have a pet peeve with you going slow in front of me. speaker-1: Well, going slow is one thing. Going slow in the left lane I mean you're you're causing problems, especially in Texas. So tailgating. People speaker-2: That's that could cause problems. speaker-3: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. That's that's that's a bet. speaker-2: That's about a seven for me. That's speaker-0: Bellanine. speaker-2: but I'm not gonna slam my brakes on to get off my butt. speaker-1: I will break check speaker-3: You do? speaker-1: yeah. Okay, what about people talking during a movie? speaker-2: That hadn't bothered me at all. speaker-1: I know. I go to the movies by myself to avoid that. speaker-3: been to a movie since. Shall I when did you babysit the kids? speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-3: like nineteen ninety eight? Yeah. So now that doesn't bother me. speaker-1: Well, y'all watch movies at home. Do you like someone carrying on the conversation when you're trying to watch or you don't care? speaker-3: That's normally me, probably. speaker-2: Me too. speaker-1: That is the beauty of the pause button. Yeah. speaker-2: Yes. I just wanna know what's gonna happen. speaker-3: Yeah, I ask Casey all the time, What do you who do you think did it? What what's gonna happen next? Why did they do that? He's like, I'm at the same stage you are, I don't know. speaker-1: Yeah. Okay. How about unsolicited advice and recommendations? speaker-3: I think I'm normally the one doing that. I am somebody's pet peeve. speaker-0: That's this is a realization moment for some of us. speaker-2: Yeah. Yeah. I don't care if somebody gives me advice. speaker-0: You don't have to take it. No. speaker-1: It could be speaker-2: Yeah. speaker-1: So Dina, one of our Facebook followers, not only said this is one of hers, but she mentioned that dad has always said if you're on time you're late. So what about people being late? That's speaker-2: Mm. speaker-0: Mm. speaker-3: Yeah, I I don't like for people to be late. You know party speaker-2: You Shelly. speaker-3: and you're like waiting for people to come and it's five minutes after and nobody's here yet, you start going, Man, am I getting stood up? You know, I I don't know. I just think it's a little rude. speaker-1: I have gotten tons better. Yeah. There's one of it, a weekly event that I have right now. It's a Bible study. And for the life of me, I cannot be on time to that thing. And i I've done so good in being on time in these last couple of years. But for some reason I am inevitably about fifteen minutes late. And I text them and I say, Start without me. But that's ridiculous. I mean, I am traveling thirty minutes to get there, but I need to allow the you know, the time. And so I speaker-2: People out probably. speaker-1: have no excuse. I'm not putting them out because I don't get there and then ask them to backtrack what they've already covered. But the flip side of that, from my perspective, is if the party starts at six and people arrive at five thirty, that's also speaker-0: That's a pet peeve too. Yeah. speaker-1: not a good speaker-3: They're gonna have to help you set up. speaker-1: yeah. I I start I hand them the dishcloth and say wash dishes. And speaker-3: Just like like when nine thirty starts rolling around, I start doing the dishes. That's like the sign that it's time for you to go. speaker-1: So Susan is the fastest walker you can ever imagine. So I wanna ask her what's your opinion on slow walkers? speaker-0: You know, it just depends on who it is. If I'm walking with mom and dad, I I don't mind walking slow. But really I don't mind walking slower, you know? That's not a pet peeve. And some people I I I do realize I walk super fast. So I just have to understand that not all people walk have my gait and walk like I do. speaker-1: Stacy? speaker-3: So I am short, I have short legs. Even if I'm running, I don't walk as fast as Susan or Casey or any of y'all. So no, that's not a pet peep of mine. I'm usually running to keep up with people. speaker-2: Same it's not a pet peeve. I'm slow w slow occurring speaker-1: If I'm with mom and dad or because I am a slow walker myself, I'm just very conscientious about moving to the right and allowing people if if it's a compressed area, allowing them to get by me. And I I think that just being situation awareness is important there. So the last two are know it alls. Everyone knows one. Where do you rank it? speaker-0: Probably an eight. I they're hard to be around. Yeah. speaker-3: That's tough. I I'm with Susan. Probably an eight five. speaker-2: 'Cause sometimes I try to be a no at all but I'm getting shot down a lot. speaker-1: And then another to me annoying, probably even more annoying than I know it all is the one upper. yeah. speaker-3: Yeah, yeah. Well you know what though? speaker-0: Yeah, I would say I would say an eight on that too. speaker-1: It sounds to me like y'all do have a few more pet peeves than you originally thought. Yeah. And so you can see why those are the twenty five most common are Facebook listener Robin, her pick of nose picking made the top forty five, but Cody repeating oneself didn't make the top seventy, but yes, it can be annoying, Cody. So the top pet peeves for women are unwanted physical touch and spectrum. space invasion. I could see where that would definitely be an issue. speaker-3: I think it it's who it is though. If it's Casey, sit in my lap, big boy. speaker-1: No, yes, and this is in a public setting of people that you don't necessarily know, obviously. Or in a dating situation. Number two is dishonesty and defensiveness. That's a pet peeve for women. Communication breakdown, that was actually one for both men and women. Not wanting to play the games and stuff like that. Those are big pet pet peeves. Public discourtesy. I think, you know, not tipping well. Big A big one for me is treating weight staff with disrespect. I mean I I will actually say something if someone does that in my or speaker-0: Janitors, or bus drivers. speaker-1: I mean we we were taught to treat everyone with the same respect. Everyone. Yeah. And so I get pretty defensive about that. And then I would think that the unsolicited comments would be like cat calls and stuff like that, or saying something inappropriate about a woman's body. Even if the person saying it thinks it's a compliment, it it can really rub people the wrong way. So from a sister dynamic. Point of view, what is the number one annoying habit you've had to tolerate from each other or a family member over the years? speaker-2: I'm not answering 'cause I can't think of anything like really bad except for Shelly being late. And speaker-1: That's one you've had to tolerate though, 'cause for a stretch there I was late all the time. I mean, there was very rarely a time I was on time. speaker-2: But you don't do that anymore and it's really nice. speaker-1: Yes. Mine's popping pimples in public. speaker-2: Wait. speaker-0: Or picking sword or speaker-3: Sure off the pack. speaker-0: or farting. speaker-3: Really attacked. speaker-2: Hey, when you gotta let one go, you gotta let one go. speaker-1: Someone said burping. I think if you, you know, try to at least cover it up and then say, Excuse me, I mean burping and I mean farting, you just try to not do that where people hear you. But what speaker-0: So you so try to not let people hear you. speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-4: Thank speaker-2: I don't do that with just anybody. No. speaker-0: well that speaker-1: What is your standard? speaker-2: Yeah. My loved ones I feel comfortable. speaker-3: For us. speaker-1: So would any of us hold a silent grudge over a minor inconvenience? Nope. I I can't imagine holding a grudge with anybody. I mean I have admitted that I can get annoyed with people's actions, but I don't hold on to it and it affects the rest of my day. What is an unwritten rule of polite society that you feel like nobody else follows anymore? speaker-0: Picking up trash after you you're done, you know, people just walk off. I notice that on the airplane. I notice when people are sitting in a fast food restaurant, you know, just walk off and leave it. speaker-1: at sporting events, you know, someone has to come along behind you and clean that up and just take it with you. And they there's trash receptacles everywhere. Yeah. Litering in general is a huge pet peeve for me. To to see someone throw it out their window. Yeah. I I don't like that at all. speaker-3: My biggest one is when people don't wave when you stop to let cross the street. Knees up and wave. You know, be thankful I'm letting you cross the street. Get those knees up and speaker-1: You are. speaker-2: She's got her point system ready. No speaker-1: Well, you are supposed to do the little when someone lets you in, you're supposed to kind of acknowledge and people don't speaker-2: They don't do that? speaker-0: You know, something that is also is when you're driving through your neighborhood and you see someone pass you and you go, you know, another car passes and you just kinda wave, you don't see that anymore either. speaker-3: Hey, drive a Jeep. All the Jeep owners will wave at you. Jeep. speaker-1: They're like speaker-2: Well and motorcycles they all speaker-0: Motorcycles, yep, and jeep. speaker-3: Yeah. Their own person. If somebody lets me in, I because my Jeep is so high and I have this big tire on the back, I'm afraid they can't see me, so I'll roll my window down and wave because I want them to know I acknowledge that they let me in. Mm-hmm. So maybe that is my biggest pet peeve Shelly, is people who don't appreciate, you know, that hey, I slowed down for you. speaker-1: You know, my biggest traffic pet peeve is simply using your turn signal. That is the ultimate form of communication and it can make or break and easy commute if someone will just let you know they're turning. Yeah. Ask. Ask. speaker-2: That's speaker-3: That's all I saw you ask. speaker-1: Another of one of mine that wasn't mentioned is people stopping in doorways or in aisles to talk. And that just once again the flow speaker-3: I will do that. speaker-1: the flow, especially at church. It's like people, just just shift over. Just shift over. Okay, let's wrap this up with some rapid fire. It's just a one or the other, okay? Wait. This is out of the two, which one do you not like the most? Okay. speaker-2: Right? It's the biggest pet peeve, but speaker-1: We're going Stacy Sheryl Susan this round. Okay. speaker-2: Okay. I'm first. speaker-1: I'll answer last. Okay. Texting K or texting a lone thumbs up emoji. Same. speaker-3: They're the s speaker-1: No. K. Just K. speaker-3: it neither of them bother me. speaker-2: Bothers me. speaker-0: Bothers me. speaker-1: Okay. Loud chewing or slow walking? speaker-3: Loud chewing. speaker-2: Chewing speaker-0: Laucho speaker-1: Hey, loud chewing for me as well. People who leave time on the microwave or people who don't replace the toilet paper roll. speaker-3: Not replacing the toilet paper roll. speaker-2: Time on the microwave. speaker-0: Paper roll. speaker-1: Paperroll for me as well. Reply all emails or unexpected phone calls. speaker-3: Unexpected phone cost. speaker-2: I'm gonna go with unexpected phone calls. speaker-3: Like spam. speaker-0: Reply all emails. speaker-1: That's mine as well. Yeah. Left lane campers or tailgators? speaker-2: Lane campers. speaker-1: Left lane campers for me, Sheryl. Shopping carts left in parking spaces or long lines at the checkout. I speaker-2: Online. no. speaker-0: Shopping speaker-1: Mine too. Shopping carts. People who use speakerphone in public are people who play videos out loud. speaker-3: Videos out loud. speaker-2: Videos out now. speaker-0: Videos are speaker-1: I agree with y'all. speaker-3: Yeah, because sometimes you like to hear the drama going on on those speakerphone calls, you know? Yeah, speaker-1: You got you get the tea. speaker-3: you're like, What did Linda do? I I'm invested now, I need to know. speaker-0: Where are you going to next? speaker-1: Being interrupted mid sentence or being overexplained to? speaker-0: never explained too. speaker-1: That was tough for me. I I said being interrupted. Unsolicited advice or vague we need to talk text. speaker-3: Do not send me a vague text at all. Ever. speaker-2: I don't want those. speaker-1: Either or put it on Facebook. You know that Facebook post that they're like, You're never gonna believe what happened to me. speaker-3: Yeah, I don't care about that. But because I'm not included. But if they send me a text saying, Hey, we need to talk dude speaker-1: You better be called. speaker-3: like you know. Yeah. Like pick up the phone. speaker-1: Final one, chronic lateness or being way too early. Way too early. Yeah. speaker-3: Yeah, I would say chronic elateness. speaker-2: Chronic lateness. speaker-1: I don't like people getting there way too early, but chronic lateness is definitely an issue. It's kind of like the pot calling the kettle black at one time, but here we are. So those are our pet peeves, and we're really curious for those watching and listening what your pet peeves are. Or like Stacy. Did you find out that your name is Peev? So we look forward to hearing from our listeners and watchers. And in anticipation for next week, episode 35, our grandsons, or I should say their grandsons, we can't wait to talk to them. We're having an amon as a guest, and we look forward to visiting with their grandsons, my nephews, next week. Until then, life is messy. meaningful and better when shared. Thanks for watching. speaker-0: Don't forget to like us. speaker-2: Cheers. speaker-1: Comment. speaker-4: Subscribe! speaker-0: Hi Sheryl. speaker-3: Bye bye. speaker-0: Your mouth I don't know if it's gonna matter, but your mouth and words are not together. speaker-3: It's together for me. It must be you, S Susan. speaker-0: Okay. speaker-1: Okay. Mine's the typical nails on the chalkboard. Okay, on a scale. speaker-2: What? People aren't just going around doing that. speaker-3: Chalkboards anymore. You're safe, Shelly. speaker-2: Yeah. What number is it? Number nine. Thanks. speaker-1: Number. speaker-2: Are these in order? speaker-1: Are you purposefully trying to raise my pet peeve radar today? speaker-3: See them the thing, huh? speaker-4: What? speaker-3: I'm just kidding. I I don't even know how to do that. No, but no, that's all right. saying yes, sir, the moment speaker-1: Same what? speaker-2: Yeah. Saying sir to a woman. speaker-3: Will take our picture? speaker-1: So the sister dynamic of yours I would prefer you get the gender correct, yes. speaker-3: Well, the picture were our faces in it or was it speaker-1: She did a good job. speaker-2: Yeah. speaker-0: Yes she did. speaker-3: Thank you. speaker-1: So promoting. speaker-2: Much longer because I need to talk to these people about the man's house. we're gonna be about five minutes. speaker-1: Yeah. speaker-3: It would have been four minutes if you wouldn't have asked that question. speaker-1: Okay.
