- 4:44Speaker 5: so happy for That's three things you need to know
- 4:47Speaker 5: more at the Alabama Show dot com.
- 4:51Speaker 1: You were listening to The Alabama Show on demand.
- 4:54Speaker 5: Good morning, Hayley. What's your issue for ask Alabama?
- 4:58Speaker 8: Good morning. I'm a widow and I want to tell
- 5:01Speaker 8: my in laws about my new partners.
- 5:04Speaker 5: Okay, if you ever have an issue for Ask Alabama,
- 5:07Speaker 5: that's why we're here, call the show.
- 5:08Speaker 4: Eight three three five I one Bama is the number.
- 5:11Speaker 5: Why haven't you told your in laws about your new
- 5:14Speaker 5: partner yet?
- 5:15Speaker 4: What's going on?
- 5:15Speaker 3: Oh?
- 5:16Speaker 8: So, I married my soulmates and love of my life
- 5:20Speaker 8: four years ago, but he passed away shortly after our
- 5:24Speaker 8: wedding because of an illness. And now my in laws
- 5:28Speaker 8: treat me like I'm their child. They're so wonderful. I
- 5:32Speaker 8: spent holidays with them. We've gone on family vacations, sleepovers,
- 5:37Speaker 8: I mean.
- 5:38Speaker 4: Anything, you know awesome, that's really good.
- 5:41Speaker 8: Yeah. I'm in my late twenties and after my husband died,
- 5:45Speaker 8: I dated now and then with the hopes of marriage
- 5:48Speaker 8: and children and fathing worked out. But then I met
- 5:53Speaker 8: this guy and he will never be what my husband was,
- 5:58Speaker 8: But she feels like my person in a different way.
- 6:03Speaker 4: Okay, so what's going on with the family now.
- 6:06Speaker 8: The problem is is that I want to tell my
- 6:09Speaker 8: in laws about him, and I know that they know
- 6:13Speaker 8: that I date, but you don't talk about it. And
- 6:18Speaker 8: I'm just sick of saying I'm going on solo trips
- 6:21Speaker 8: when I'm actually going on trips with this guy. And
- 6:24Speaker 8: it started to get pretty serious. We're planning on moving
- 6:28Speaker 8: in together. So how how do I bring this up
- 6:31Speaker 8: to my in laws who my first marriage? How do
- 6:35Speaker 8: I how do I even begin?
- 6:36Speaker 5: That's a great question. Let's see if we can get
- 6:38Speaker 5: some people to call the show for you. Have you
- 6:40Speaker 5: ever dealt with this and what did you do? Did
- 6:43Speaker 5: you tell your in laws right away? Did it change anything?
- 6:47Speaker 5: Because I think that we'll get more people call in
- 6:49Speaker 5: that say they told their in laws and they were
- 6:51Speaker 5: happy for them. Eight three three five x one, Mamma
- 6:55Speaker 5: is the number. That's eight three three five x one
- 6:57Speaker 5: two two sixteen.
- 6:59Speaker 1: You're listening to the Alabama Show on demand.
- 7:02Speaker 5: If you have ever lost a loved one, That's what
- 7:06Speaker 5: Haley's going through.
- 7:08Speaker 4: Her husband passed away.
- 7:09Speaker 5: Four years ago and she started dating somebody, Neil, and
- 7:12Speaker 5: she's afraid to tell her in laws because they are
- 7:14Speaker 5: very close. You can also comment on The Alabama Show
- 7:17Speaker 5: on Facebook, Instagram. We're also live on TikTok go follow
- 7:21Speaker 5: the Alabama Show to see behind the scenes. Eric says,
- 7:24Speaker 5: a lot of this depends on age and length of marriage,
- 7:27Speaker 5: but if your husband's in laws still care for you,
- 7:29Speaker 5: they should be happy that you found someone new.
- 7:31Speaker 4: I agree.
- 7:32Speaker 2: I totally agree with that. That makes the most sense.
- 7:35Speaker 7: If they love you, they're going to respect your wishes
- 7:37Speaker 7: as you go forward in this.
- 7:39Speaker 5: I know, but it's still got to be so hard
- 7:41Speaker 5: of like because they're doing sleepovers and they treat her
- 7:43Speaker 5: like their daughter, and so I understand because she's moving
- 7:46Speaker 5: in with the guy and she hasn't even talked about
- 7:49Speaker 5: dating them, So that I think is more of a
- 7:51Speaker 5: shock of like, hey, I'm moving in with somebody.
- 7:53Speaker 7: Well, yeah, it's going to be a shock, But I
- 7:55Speaker 7: mean it's also if they're going to treat you like
- 7:57Speaker 7: their daughter, that I mean, they're going to respect you
- 7:59Speaker 7: think I would think.
- 8:00Speaker 4: Call the show.
- 8:01Speaker 5: Have you ever gone through this or do you have
- 8:02Speaker 5: advice for Hailey? Eight three three five oh one Bama
- 8:06Speaker 5: is the number.
- 8:07Speaker 1: We're listening to The Alabama Show on demand.
- 8:09Speaker 5: Eight three three five I one Bama is the number
- 8:12Speaker 5: to call the show.
- 8:13Speaker 4: Kelly, good morning. What are you doing right now?
- 8:15Speaker 3: I'm actually getting ready to go to work.
- 8:18Speaker 7: Where do you work?
- 8:19Speaker 3: I now work at my eye doctor?
- 8:22Speaker 4: I like you, ro want want want? Did that happen?
- 8:26Speaker 4: I'm giving you the airy one. Did you get that job?
- 8:28Speaker 4: Go into the odd doctor? And then you're like, Harry,
- 8:30Speaker 4: I'll hire and let me work here.
- 8:32Speaker 3: No, I applied for it. May actually were wise enough
- 8:36Speaker 3: to call me in for an interview.
- 8:37Speaker 4: Well that's awesome. Congrats on the new job.
- 8:39Speaker 5: Do you have advice for Haley whose husband passed away
- 8:43Speaker 5: four years ago and now she's dating somebody new and
- 8:46Speaker 5: afraid to tell her in laws about it.
- 8:49Speaker 3: Well, I think everybody grieves at their own rate, so
- 8:53Speaker 3: she shouldn't be afraid to tell them that she is.
- 8:56Speaker 3: Time for a new relationship for her. Are there any
- 8:59Speaker 3: children in No.
- 9:01Speaker 4: So he passed away right after they got married. Oh wow,
- 9:05Speaker 4: so yeah, no kids involved.
- 9:06Speaker 5: But I do agree with you it does take different
- 9:10Speaker 5: timelines for greeving.
- 9:11Speaker 4: Thank you for calling the show, Kelly, Thank you.
- 9:14Speaker 3: I appreciate it.
- 9:15Speaker 6: It's three things you need to know you with the
- 9:17Speaker 6: Element show.
- 9:18Speaker 5: The Birmingham Airport is ninety five years old. They're turning
- 9:22Speaker 5: ninety five on May thirty first, celebrating their first American
- 9:25Speaker 5: Airways flight ninety five years ago. But now they're also
- 9:29Speaker 5: adding NonStop low cost flights to Fort Lauderdale.
- 9:32Speaker 4: And Raleigh on July third.
- 9:34Speaker 5: They'll also have ongoing projects with modernized parking, which we
- 9:38Speaker 5: all know if you've ever parked at the Birmingham Airport.
- 9:40Speaker 5: We need some better parking, so I cannot wait for that.
- 9:43Speaker 5: Kelly Clarkson is returning to the Voice. After the end
- 9:47Speaker 5: of The Kelly Clarkson Show, everybody was wondering where she
- 9:49Speaker 5: would go, so she will be back with Adam Levine.
- 9:52Speaker 4: Also a new judge this year, Riley Green.
- 9:55Speaker 5: So the Voice will be back this fall on NBC
- 9:58Speaker 5: and streaming on Peacock. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are
- 10:03Speaker 5: bandsued for defamation by Miami cops.
- 10:06Speaker 7: They're going this hard.
- 10:08Speaker 4: Yeah. Have you seen the Netflix film called The Rip?
- 10:11Speaker 2: I saw parts of it, I've not seen the full
- 10:12Speaker 2: thing yet.
- 10:13Speaker 5: So this was inspired by a twenty sixteen Miami Lakes
- 10:16Speaker 5: narcotics raid that led to one of the largest cash
- 10:19Speaker 5: Caesar seizures in Miami History. The officers say that the
- 10:23Speaker 5: movie falsely portrays them as corrupt and it damages their reputation.
- 10:28Speaker 4: By implying that they stole money during the raid.
- 10:30Speaker 5: People will all think now after the movie that the
- 10:32Speaker 5: cops stole the money from the raid.
- 10:34Speaker 4: The actors have not yet responded to the lawsuit.
- 10:37Speaker 2: We'll see how that goes.
- 10:38Speaker 4: That's three things you need to know.
- 10:39Speaker 5: More at the Alabama Show dot com.
- 10:43Speaker 1: You were listening to the Alabama Show. The following program
- 10:47Speaker 1: is on demand.
- 10:48Speaker 4: Here's what's awesome. I have another good news.
- 10:50Speaker 1: You know.
- 10:50Speaker 5: We went to the Alabama Wildlife Centers gala for the
- 10:53Speaker 5: birds on Friday. Yes, they raised one hundred and.
- 10:59Speaker 4: Five thousand dollars. The goal was one hundred thousand. That
- 11:05Speaker 4: was awesome.
- 11:05Speaker 5: Producer Blake came. Did you like seeing the birds? They
- 11:08Speaker 5: had an owl, they had a great horned owl, They
- 11:11Speaker 5: had some hawks, they had a little bitty screech owl.
- 11:14Speaker 2: They had quite a few different types of birds.
- 11:17Speaker 4: Do you like it?
- 11:18Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 11:18Speaker 4: I know you didn't.
- 11:20Speaker 2: I'll be honest with you.
- 11:21Speaker 7: I think I have a fear of birds, but I
- 11:24Speaker 7: thought the event was nice.
- 11:25Speaker 5: What do you mean is that when you realized you
- 11:27Speaker 5: had a fear of birds.
- 11:29Speaker 7: Uh no, you keep bringing animals in here. I think
- 11:32Speaker 7: started doing it. But seeing them all, I don't want
- 11:34Speaker 7: to get near those. I got too big of a
- 11:37Speaker 7: fear now for them.
- 11:38Speaker 5: I don't want them to touch her after anyway, they've
- 11:40Speaker 5: got large talons, they've caught some injuries. But the Alabama
- 11:45Speaker 5: Wildlife Center they had their gala at the club.
- 11:48Speaker 4: There were a couple of people who came that listened
- 11:50Speaker 4: to the show.
- 11:51Speaker 5: So if you saw us there and you said hi,
- 11:53Speaker 5: thank you, because that was really cool for us to
- 11:55Speaker 5: get to meet people that listened to the show. Because
- 11:57Speaker 5: we sit in this little room and we don't know
- 11:59Speaker 5: if people actually listen or not.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm starting to think it's just me and you
- 12:02Speaker 2: going crazy one hero.
- 12:04Speaker 5: But thank you, And if you still want to go,
- 12:07Speaker 5: donate to.
- 12:07Speaker 4: The Alabama Wildlife Center.
- 12:09Speaker 5: They rescue a lot of the birds and put them
- 12:13Speaker 5: back out into the wild and they're great for our ecosystem.

- 12:23Speaker 5: emergency room and what happened?
- 12:25Speaker 4: Call the show eight three three five oh one, Bama
- 12:29Speaker 4: is the number. That's eight three three five h one
- 12:31Speaker 4: two two sixty.
- 12:32Speaker 5: Because my grandmother Mama was in the emergency room yesterday.
- 12:35Speaker 2: How does she like still do it? How does she
- 12:38Speaker 2: still manage me?
- 12:39Speaker 1: Mom?
- 12:40Speaker 5: My sassy grandmother in her eighties fell. She fell Saturday
- 12:45Speaker 5: night in her garage on the concrete floor and told
- 12:49Speaker 5: no one. She waited until Sunday morning and called my
- 12:53Speaker 5: aunt and said, hey.
- 12:54Speaker 4: I need to go to the emergency room. I think
- 12:56Speaker 4: I broke my tailbones.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Freaking man.
- 13:00Speaker 5: But this is what makes me so mad about it
- 13:04Speaker 5: is I had plans to go meet me Ma at
- 13:07Speaker 5: my little cousin, Hannah's house that's an hour away from.
- 13:10Speaker 4: My house and nowhere near me Ma's house.
- 13:13Speaker 5: And I was getting ready to drive there, and I
- 13:15Speaker 5: called to make sure Mema had left, and she goes, oh,
- 13:18Speaker 5: I'm about to go to the emergency room. She never
- 13:22Speaker 5: told anybody. I said, what are you talking about? She said,
- 13:24Speaker 5: I failed last night. I went, why didn't you call
- 13:27Speaker 5: anybody last night when you fell? Because it was like
- 13:30Speaker 5: six o'clock in the afternoon Saturday that she fell. She
- 13:34Speaker 5: called no one until ten o'clock Sunday morning and said.
- 13:38Speaker 4: I need to go to the emergency room.
- 13:40Speaker 7: Did she so you called her and she told you
- 13:43Speaker 7: she didn't call you in time.
- 13:44Speaker 5: I would have driven an hour away and nobody would
- 13:47Speaker 5: have been there because I wouldn't have known.
- 13:50Speaker 2: That's even better.
- 13:51Speaker 7: That's even better.
- 13:53Speaker 4: It's mad.
- 13:56Speaker 5: And then she was in the emergency room until like
- 13:58Speaker 5: three point thirty.
- 14:00Speaker 4: It was a whole thing. You know, did I tell
- 14:06Speaker 4: you how she fell?
- 14:08Speaker 7: No?
- 14:08Speaker 5: She got a new freezer, you know, the stand up
- 14:11Speaker 5: deep freezes.
- 14:12Speaker 4: Yeah, it looks like a refrigerator. Yeah, it's got.
- 14:15Speaker 5: Kind of like a section to the door. She yanked
- 14:19Speaker 5: the door open too hard and.
- 14:21Speaker 4: Lost her balance and fell.
- 14:23Speaker 5: So anyway, me, mall's okay. She did not fracture or
- 14:26Speaker 5: break any bones. Her Mother's Day gift for me yesterday
- 14:29Speaker 5: was a donut that you sit on.
- 14:31Speaker 7: I was about to say, please tell me you got
- 14:33Speaker 7: her like a soft cushy I thing.
- 14:35Speaker 5: Yeah, they told her to sit on it so she'll
- 14:37Speaker 5: get her payments today.
- 14:39Speaker 4: She'll sit on it. It was whole thing. Eight three
- 14:44Speaker 4: three five one Bama is the number.
- 14:47Speaker 5: Please have a better holiday er story than my grandmother's.
- 14:51Speaker 7: Swell on it.
- 14:53Speaker 5: So she was like, here, let me give you money
- 14:55Speaker 5: for the donut. I said, no, Mama, this is your
