- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an unspoiled network podcast. This is Spoil Me,
- 0:09Speaker 1: covering One Piece, episodes 931 through 933. Climb up, Luffy's
- 0:19Speaker 1: desperate escape. Dead or alive, Queen's sumo inferno, and Gyukimaru
- 0:25Speaker 1: Zoro fights a duel on Bandit's Bridge. In these episodes,
- 0:34Speaker 1: Luffy is trying to use this whole thing as a
- 0:37Speaker 1: training opportunity, again, with mixed results. It's interesting to see
- 0:43Speaker 1: him trying to figure out exactly what it is he's
- 0:47Speaker 1: doing wrong while someone's trying to execute him. Why not?
- 0:53Speaker 1: Seems like a great time to do this. Welcome to
- 0:57Speaker 1: Spoil Me. Welcome to the show, everyone. I am Natasha.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Thank you very much to One Piece Crew for commissioning
- 1:25Speaker 1: this episode. I am being told in this thing to
- 1:29Speaker 1: go ahead and check the spreadsheet. So I'm pulling that
- 1:31Speaker 1: up because I just looked at it earlier and I
- 1:33Speaker 1: was pretty sure I saw that Bernadette commissioned this one,
- 1:36Speaker 1: but I'm realizing now, do I know that for sure?
- 1:38Speaker 1: I don't. This actually was a very fun group of episodes. Yes,
- 1:46Speaker 1: it was Bernadette. It was, it was. Yay, I remembered.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Thank you, Bernadette. I am really interested, now that I
- 1:59Speaker 1: have just said in the previous episodes that I want
- 2:02Speaker 1: to see a little bit more of how Luffy trains
- 2:06Speaker 1: up and gets stronger. It feels like we're actually getting
- 2:09Speaker 1: to see that, and I am pretty excited about it because...
- 2:13Speaker 1: you know, I don't need tons of it. I respect
- 2:15Speaker 1: the fact that this is something that's overdone in a
- 2:17Speaker 1: lot of other anime and that people are kind of
- 2:20Speaker 1: sick of it. And that makes total sense. I really
- 2:23Speaker 1: get that. But, you know, I'm not somebody who has
- 2:26Speaker 1: that hang up. And so for me, I'm looking forward
- 2:31Speaker 1: to watching exactly how all of this unfolds. And the
- 2:39Speaker 1: way that he is like, he keeps challenging queen who
- 2:46Speaker 1: is essentially brushing him off, but not what's interesting about
- 2:52Speaker 1: queen is that he doesn't exactly, he seems like it's
- 2:58Speaker 1: not so much. I don't want to fight you because
- 3:03Speaker 1: I'm lazy or think I'm not going to quit or
- 3:07Speaker 1: even necessarily I'm too good to, like lower myself to
- 3:15Speaker 1: fighting you. It almost feels with Queen as if it's like,
- 3:20Speaker 1: I want to watch what you can do first and
- 3:25Speaker 1: get a sense of you and then see if you're
- 3:30Speaker 1: worth the time. You know, there is an engaged quality
- 3:37Speaker 1: to Queen throughout these fights that I actually really enjoyed.
- 3:43Speaker 1: I was thinking that it was almost going to be
- 3:46Speaker 1: like Queen sets this whole thing up and watches, but
- 3:50Speaker 1: like with half an eye and is a little too
- 3:54Speaker 1: complacent about the fact that, of course, Luffy is going
- 3:58Speaker 1: to get crushed. And instead he's really like keeping track
- 4:04Speaker 1: of how the fight's going and actually a little impressed
- 4:07Speaker 1: here and there. And like, we'll say so and just
- 4:09Speaker 1: be like, wow, you actually, you know, pulled this out. Um,
- 4:14Speaker 1: so also I should mention at the top of this
- 4:18Speaker 1: episode that we see Kimura Saki. So she is alive and,
- 4:27Speaker 1: I figured she must. It was weird. The whole way
- 4:29Speaker 1: that went down just was weird. And yet, the things
- 4:36Speaker 1: that I'm like, I thought were happening aren't. So I
- 4:39Speaker 1: have questions about that when we get there. So first,
- 4:44Speaker 1: let us begin. The thing that I keep finding very
- 4:46Speaker 1: funny is Ryza is trying to free Luffy by getting
- 4:52Speaker 1: the key to the cuffs and doesn't Luffy has his
- 5:00Speaker 1: own plans, as he so often does. And honestly, let's
- 5:04Speaker 1: be real. To say that Luffy has plans is super generous.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Luffy does not have plans. I am lying to your faces.
- 5:14Speaker 1: I am lying to myself. Luffy has his impulses. And
- 5:20Speaker 1: Raizo does not take those into account. Does not consider
- 5:24Speaker 1: the fact that Luffy is as.
- 5:25Speaker 2: As.
- 5:30Speaker 1: mercurial, I suppose, is the word I want. I will
- 5:35Speaker 1: also say, though, Reiso comes back with the alleged key
- 5:39Speaker 1: to Luffy's cuffs, which later on, Reiso sort of is like, wait,
- 5:43Speaker 1: did I have the wrong key the whole time? And
- 5:45Speaker 1: I don't know why he even considers that, because many
- 5:50Speaker 1: doors and, I would assume, cuffs and whatnot, there is
- 5:53Speaker 1: more than one key. So just because they have the
- 5:57Speaker 1: key already with them over there with queen doesn't mean
- 6:01Speaker 1: that Riso's key doesn't work either. But, um, Riso goes
- 6:07Speaker 1: to Luffy's cell to be like, Hey, I found the,
- 6:11Speaker 1: the key in the middle of the day. And that
- 6:16Speaker 1: was the part that I was sort of like, what
- 6:17Speaker 1: are you doing, bud? Because that's not, he's the whole
- 6:21Speaker 1: way that this place works is that you bust your
- 6:25Speaker 1: ass during the day. And then you get, sent to
- 6:28Speaker 1: your little, you know, your corner to sleep. And then
- 6:33Speaker 1: in the morning, you get forced into more back-breaking work.
- 6:38Speaker 1: And the fact that Reizo came over and expected Luffy
- 6:42Speaker 1: to just be in his cell in the middle of
- 6:45Speaker 1: the day was, like, for me, the first issue. There
- 6:50Speaker 1: is also... A dude that Reiso comes across in what
- 6:56Speaker 1: everybody yells at him is like the forbidden cell. And
- 7:01Speaker 1: I am trying to, is this somebody that we've met before?
- 7:06Speaker 1: His face looks like a turtle. Like what we see
- 7:10Speaker 1: of it. His face is very hidden in shadow most
- 7:13Speaker 1: of the time, but it does also look familiar. And
- 7:18Speaker 1: I'm trying to like suss out whether this is a
- 7:21Speaker 1: character that we have met already the way that Raisa
- 7:25Speaker 1: reacts I like I feel like I'm supposed to know
- 7:31Speaker 1: who this is and I'm I don't and I'm I
- 7:34Speaker 1: feel bad about it and it's the kind of thing
- 7:37Speaker 1: guys where you know you could tell me his name
- 7:40Speaker 1: and it might not even help because names are just
- 7:43Speaker 1: you know it's a real toss up. If I'm going
- 7:45Speaker 1: to remember a name, there has to be something about
- 7:48Speaker 1: the name that is super distinctive. That is going to
- 7:51Speaker 1: cause me to remember it. Like it being part of
- 7:53Speaker 1: the whole, you know, the woman being named solitaire or
- 7:57Speaker 1: because it's part of this game thing. But yeah, I,
- 8:03Speaker 1: this dude is watching and like Riso for a moment
- 8:08Speaker 1: is like, don't worry, I'll get you out. And then,
- 8:10Speaker 1: he gets interrupted by a bunch of the dudes who
- 8:13Speaker 1: are hassling Luffy. And by the end of this group
- 8:19Speaker 1: of episodes, that guy is still locked up. Yeah. So
- 8:24Speaker 1: I'm curious why it is that is the forbidden cell
- 8:28Speaker 1: as well. Like what it sounds like is there's a
- 8:30Speaker 1: guy that we don't even let out to work because
- 8:35Speaker 1: he is that dangerous. Seraphim says, We only won about
- 8:43Speaker 1: the forbidden cell. It was the thing with the poison
- 8:46Speaker 1: fish and fish bone.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Oh, wow.
- 8:52Speaker 1: That was a while ago. Wow. Okay. This is the
- 8:58Speaker 1: same cell. I, okay. Yeah. I wouldn't not have put
- 9:03Speaker 1: that together in a million years. And remind me the, Poison, like,
- 9:10Speaker 1: did the dude in there eat a poison fish and
- 9:15Speaker 1: not get hurt by it? What happened with that? I
- 9:17Speaker 1: don't even remember now. It's been a.
- 9:22Speaker 2: While.
- 9:23Speaker 1: I'm trying to think back to when that episode even
- 9:25Speaker 1: was at this point, and it was such a brief thing. Yeah,
- 9:31Speaker 1: it's got to just be that this dude is just
- 9:33Speaker 1: so dangerous, which it's remarkable that if that is the case,
- 9:39Speaker 1: because Luffy and Captain Kidd are both also really dangerous,
- 9:43Speaker 1: and yet this is not the way they were treated.
- 9:46Speaker 1: So how intense must the situation be? You know, like,
- 9:51Speaker 1: good God. Let's see, I'm trying to find the spot here. Well,
- 9:58Speaker 1: you know what, I'm kind of I'm jumping around a
- 10:01Speaker 1: little bit here but I Riso's whole thing kind of
- 10:05Speaker 1: starts off uh the the portion of the story after
- 10:11Speaker 1: Luffy attempts to climb the wall this is something that
- 10:15Speaker 1: I've been noticing a little bit more is that the
- 10:20Speaker 1: titles of the episodes have always been a weird combination
- 10:25Speaker 1: of both a spoiler and hugely misleading, you know, where like,
- 10:33Speaker 1: it'll tell you something that's, that's a plot point in
- 10:36Speaker 1: a way that you're sort of like, why would you
- 10:38Speaker 1: say it? Just let me. And then it'll sort of
- 10:42Speaker 1: be a lie, you know, it just won't really be
- 10:46Speaker 1: the reality of what it is. And, The fact that
- 10:49Speaker 1: this episode is called Luffy's like daring or desperate escape. Luffy,
- 11:00Speaker 1: his climb lasts about 30 seconds. It's mostly an opportunity
- 11:06Speaker 1: for Queen to yell at his men for not chasing Luffy.
- 11:12Speaker 1: And then he falls and doesn't get out. And that
- 11:16Speaker 1: is over. within about the first minute and 30 seconds
- 11:22Speaker 1: of the episode, and then it's over. And it is
- 11:25Speaker 1: very weird to me how this episode is called that
- 11:30Speaker 1: when that is simply not really the point of the
- 11:35Speaker 1: episode at all in any way on any level. It's just,
- 11:41Speaker 1: you know, it's just, yeah, for what, for why? But
- 11:47Speaker 1: it doesn't matter. It's just funny because like, I'm still
- 11:51Speaker 1: attempting to not listen when the title is said out
- 11:55Speaker 1: loud in the beginning of the episode, just because I
- 11:59Speaker 1: don't want any spoilers if I can help it. But
- 12:01Speaker 1: once I go and read the titles to you all,
- 12:03Speaker 1: when I'm doing my intro, I'll be brought up short sometimes.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Cause I'm like, they named this after that moment. That's
- 12:09Speaker 1: barely anything. Seraphim says they feed him only poison fish
- 12:15Speaker 1: and he keeps living and And if they don't debone
- 12:18Speaker 1: the fish, he can kill them just by spitting the
- 12:20Speaker 1: bone out. That's right. I forgot about that. So there's
- 12:26Speaker 1: a bone that gets in there and he, yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, yeah, yeah.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Thank you. I could not remember that. Okay. So this guy,
- 12:35Speaker 1: he looks like a turtle in the face. I do
- 12:37Speaker 1: not necessarily think that will be indicative of him being
- 12:41Speaker 1: a turtle man because like, the way that people are
- 12:44Speaker 1: designed in this world can vary wildly and they're still human,
- 12:49Speaker 1: but perhaps he is a turtle man. Um, if we're
- 12:53Speaker 1: thinking about the fact that he can eat poison fish
- 12:56Speaker 1: and not die though, I genuinely don't know if that's
- 13:00Speaker 1: a trait of any particular turtle. So if that's meant
- 13:04Speaker 1: to be sort of thematic, I, it would go over
- 13:07Speaker 1: my head. Um, yeah. Yeah. Curious, curious about it. And
- 13:13Speaker 1: the fact that Raisa knows who he is as well
- 13:16Speaker 1: and seems surprised to see him here. That's the other
- 13:18Speaker 1: thing where it's like combined with the, what's the guy,
- 13:23Speaker 1: the flower, the old man. It's interesting that like what
- 13:29Speaker 1: people seem to know about him is that he vanished
- 13:34Speaker 1: and everyone thinks that he was murdered. Nobody actually knows
- 13:40Speaker 1: that it's him in the jail. He isn't using his
- 13:44Speaker 1: own name, evidently, and isn't telling people who he is.
- 13:48Speaker 1: But it also is interesting that folks don't realize that
- 13:52Speaker 1: he is even alive, that it wasn't publicized more that
- 13:56Speaker 1: he was captured. And so this other dude that Reiso knows,
- 14:01Speaker 1: who is apparently of some reputation from the way he reacts,
- 14:05Speaker 1: the fact that Russell wasn't prepared for him to be
- 14:10Speaker 1: in jail. It's just interesting how many folks they have
- 14:13Speaker 1: scooped up for this prison that people aren't aware of
- 14:17Speaker 1: at all, because it's, you know, I was saying like
- 14:23Speaker 1: regarding in the previous episodes, some of Luffy's friends are
- 14:29Speaker 1: just like, well, we're certainly going to see Luffy's antics
- 14:33Speaker 1: in the newspaper and, there's no way because he's such
- 14:36Speaker 1: a troublemaker. We're eventually going to hear from him and
- 14:39Speaker 1: find out what's going on in there. And at the
- 14:42Speaker 1: time I said, like, I don't know if I would
- 14:45Speaker 1: publicize it because it makes you look weak. If somebody
- 14:49Speaker 1: is like managing to fuck with you. But I also would,
- 14:56Speaker 1: if I were, if I like decided to turn him
- 14:59Speaker 1: into a real example of and make it public the
- 15:04Speaker 1: punishment that he received for fucking with me, you know? And, um,
- 15:10Speaker 1: in this case with like people thinking this guy is
- 15:15Speaker 1: just dead. Originally I was sort of like, that is
- 15:20Speaker 1: surprising that they wouldn't parade around the fact, you know,
- 15:25Speaker 1: that this guy is like, we've got him, we captured him.
- 15:28Speaker 1: He's not out there for you guys anymore. Um, as
- 15:32Speaker 1: one of your heroes or whatever. It's like, and then
- 15:36Speaker 1: I sort of stopped and thought about it and was like,
- 15:40Speaker 1: I don't know, man, maybe it is more intimidating to
- 15:46Speaker 1: not know for sure what happened for this guy to
- 15:50Speaker 1: just be, have vanished off the face of the earth
- 15:54Speaker 1: and nobody be able to really say it's an, it's a,
- 15:59Speaker 1: Interesting question, because on the one hand, if you just say, oh,
- 16:06Speaker 1: he's vanished, that also does leave hope for the people
- 16:10Speaker 1: who liked the guy and saw him as like somewhat inspiring.
- 16:15Speaker 1: And if I'm a baddie, I don't know that I
- 16:17Speaker 1: want the people to have that kind of hope and
- 16:19Speaker 1: to be like looking for him, you know, as like
- 16:23Speaker 1: a figurehead. On the other hand, it is sort of
- 16:29Speaker 1: like a control thing to just be able to like
- 16:32Speaker 1: not share shit because you don't have to, because everybody
- 16:36Speaker 1: is so stuck. What other options are there? You know, I.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Don't know.
- 16:42Speaker 1: It just, I keep being surprised over and over at
- 16:47Speaker 1: who all is in here that we didn't know about.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Seraphim says, first of all, boss Hyogoro. Thank you for that.
- 16:59Speaker 1: It's also been 20 years that Orochi has been doing this.
- 17:02Speaker 1: It could have been so long ago people forgot or
- 17:05Speaker 1: assumed he died since then. True. With Boss Hyogoro, it
- 17:10Speaker 1: doesn't sound like people knew that he had been captured
- 17:13Speaker 1: ever from the way that, what's her face? The mature ninja,
- 17:20Speaker 1: as I think of her in my head now, talks
- 17:23Speaker 1: about him. But you know, just because she says that
- 17:26Speaker 1: she knows the thing doesn't mean that's the understood information
- 17:28Speaker 1: that everybody has. So let's, let's talk about this whole
- 17:35Speaker 1: thing with the fight that Queen decides to have happen here,
- 17:42Speaker 1: because it's, it's interesting. So what Queen wants to do is,
- 17:53Speaker 1: Rather than have a simple execution, he wants to have
- 17:59Speaker 1: there be a show where it's Luffy and Hyogoro. Apologies, guys,
- 18:07Speaker 1: if you can hear this squeaking from my desk. I
- 18:09Speaker 1: have to lean on it because of my broken hand.
- 18:13Speaker 1: And it is so loud and really irritating me lately.
- 18:16Speaker 1: It's just I try not to lean on it when
- 18:20Speaker 1: everything is normal. But it is not normal, and so
- 18:23Speaker 1: I must, and it's just irking the shit out of
- 18:27Speaker 1: me today, and I'm sorry if it is also irking you,
- 18:30Speaker 1: because I suffer also along with you. But anyway, the
- 18:41Speaker 1: thing about Hyogoro is that he is outed in front
- 18:48Speaker 1: of the other prisoners in During this first scene. I
- 18:51Speaker 1: can't remember if it's Queen who says it. Or if
- 18:54Speaker 1: it's Luffy who calls him by his. I think it's Queen.
- 18:57Speaker 1: I think Queen is like. Addresses him. Knows exactly who
- 19:00Speaker 1: he is. Which is. Like considering the fact that. You know.
- 19:07Speaker 1: My interest in how you handle. This sort of information.
- 19:12Speaker 1: The moment where. All of the other prisoners. Realize that's
- 19:17Speaker 1: who he is. Does seem like kind of a devastating.
- 19:21Speaker 1: moment where they're just like, wait, that's him? And he's
- 19:26Speaker 1: this tiny old man? In a way that I'm sort
- 19:31Speaker 1: of like, well, ouch. But also, yeah, somebody looms in
- 19:36Speaker 1: your head as this immortal figure and then you find
- 19:39Speaker 1: out that not only are they not immortal, but they're
- 19:44Speaker 1: in here with you? That's a bummer. So, Queen decides
- 19:53Speaker 1: to put this collar around both Hyoguro and Luffy's necks
- 19:59Speaker 1: that has blades inside it. And it operates apparently sort
- 20:05Speaker 1: of on the same principle as, say, a invisible fence
- 20:10Speaker 1: for dogs, where if they go over the boundary of
- 20:15Speaker 1: the ring, it will cut their heads off. There is
- 20:20Speaker 1: a point where Queen says something like, if it's not
- 20:27Speaker 1: both of you, then the execution is not complete. And
- 20:32Speaker 1: I wasn't really sure what that meant. It sounded to
- 20:36Speaker 1: me like it was If both of you aren't over
- 20:39Speaker 1: the line, then it won't cut your heads off. It
- 20:41Speaker 1: has to be both of you, but I'm not sure
- 20:43Speaker 1: I'm understanding that correctly. The idea here is here's the
- 20:50Speaker 1: way that we can prevent you from simply running off,
- 20:53Speaker 1: but we also can take your restraints off and use
- 20:57Speaker 1: the collar solely to control you and the restraints removed
- 21:05Speaker 1: mean that Luffy has got some more of his power
- 21:09Speaker 1: back and can use hockey again and whatnot. And I
- 21:15Speaker 1: had a moment of like, does queen know that Luffy
- 21:22Speaker 1: has like devil fruit powers, but I believe so. And
- 21:25Speaker 1: it's just like, yeah, even if you do, you're so outnumbered,
- 21:30Speaker 1: it's not going to help you all that much. Um,
- 21:34Speaker 1: Seraphim says they both tried to escape and thus both
- 21:37Speaker 1: need to be punished. No, I know that. But what
- 21:39Speaker 1: I'm saying is when Queen says this, it's after he
- 21:44Speaker 1: has put the collars on them. And it almost sounded
- 21:47Speaker 1: like if you both don't go over the boundary line,
- 21:51Speaker 1: it won't cut your heads off. You both have to
- 21:54Speaker 1: do that for these blades to activate. And the way
- 22:00Speaker 1: he said it is if you both... don't the execution
- 22:07Speaker 1: isn't complete. It like, it's, it almost sounded like I'm
- 22:12Speaker 1: giving you like another rule or parameter or something. Florian says,
- 22:19Speaker 1: I think it's the opposite. When one goes off, the
- 22:23Speaker 1: other goes as well. Oh, wow. Okay. Wow. Okay. Well,
- 22:36Speaker 1: glad I asked because that's way worse. So Hyogoro throughout
- 22:43Speaker 1: is like distressed because he is older. He knows that he,
- 22:49Speaker 1: you know, isn't at his best anymore, but also feels
- 22:55Speaker 1: like Luffy is a hero and he, is being put
- 23:01Speaker 1: in this position here where he has to now worry
- 23:06Speaker 1: about Hyogoro before even himself. Essentially, Hyogoro is like, bro,
- 23:12Speaker 1: I'm dead weight. And I can't bear the fact that
- 23:19Speaker 1: I am slowing you down and potentially going to ruin
- 23:23Speaker 1: it for you and get you killed. And he keeps
- 23:26Speaker 1: trying to like, get Queen to have them both go
- 23:30Speaker 1: through this whole ordeal separately. And that's not happening. This
- 23:35Speaker 1: is the whole fun of it, I think, for Queen
- 23:37Speaker 1: is the fact that, you know, the fact that you
- 23:42Speaker 1: are about to be completely like, you are dead weight.
- 23:47Speaker 1: That's what's hilarious, weirdly. So I say weirdly and like,
- 23:53Speaker 1: it is weirdly because this is just not a natural
- 23:56Speaker 1: thing for people to enjoy, in my opinion. But I
- 24:00Speaker 1: also recognize that like throughout human history, this seemingly has
- 24:03Speaker 1: been a thing that most people have enjoyed. And I
- 24:07Speaker 1: maintain that it's weird and not natural, but that humans
- 24:13Speaker 1: are just a disaster. And that's simply that. Suffice to say,
- 24:18Speaker 1: to get through the rest of this particular area of
- 24:23Speaker 1: the plot, Luffy is able to handle the first comers
- 24:30Speaker 1: with almost no effort whatsoever to a degree. That's like,
- 24:35Speaker 1: honestly embarrassing. I think they are embarrassed. I'll say that.
- 24:40Speaker 1: And what he keeps remembering is how Rayleigh managed to
- 24:46Speaker 1: send an elephant fucking flying off. without even touching it.
- 24:52Speaker 1: And he is trying to imitate what Rayleigh did. And
- 24:59Speaker 1: it's funny because he's landing these punches that are in
- 25:02Speaker 1: a vacuum, quite impressive and handling his business and keeping
- 25:07Speaker 1: these guys, you know, he is not letting anybody past him. But,
- 25:17Speaker 1: in comparison with what it is he's trying to accomplish,
- 25:21Speaker 1: it's super lackluster. And so even though Hyogoro is watching
- 25:27Speaker 1: him just like, God damn boy, even queen, it just
- 25:31Speaker 1: is going, well, you're tougher than I expected. Luffy is really,
- 25:37Speaker 1: really frustrated by the fact that he, like I saw
- 25:41Speaker 1: really do this. I got, my power back because of
- 25:46Speaker 1: these restraints being released. And I can't fucking do it.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Eventually he gets to a place, not where he actually
- 25:54Speaker 1: is able to do it, but where he just says, well,
- 25:56Speaker 1: I guess next time. And it almost feels like he's
- 26:01Speaker 1: choosing to simply engage with the fight as it is.
- 26:06Speaker 1: And rather than like trying to reach this new goal.
- 26:10Speaker 1: And it, I don't want to use the words he
- 26:12Speaker 1: gives up on it because I don't feel like that's
- 26:14Speaker 1: quite fair, but I will say it's like he sort
- 26:16Speaker 1: of sets it aside for the moment. And I personally
- 26:23Speaker 1: do really want to see him like achieve this. I
- 26:29Speaker 1: just don't know what that even looks like. It's super
- 26:32Speaker 1: funny when he uses his hockey initially because he doesn't
- 26:34Speaker 1: touch them and sends them, you know, like keeling over.
- 26:40Speaker 1: And everybody is like, but he didn't even touch them.
- 26:44Speaker 1: And I'm like, later on when he's remembering how Rayleigh
- 26:47Speaker 1: did this and he's like, but Rayleigh didn't even touch
- 26:49Speaker 1: the elephant. And I'm like, well, you did kind of
- 26:51Speaker 1: do something that's on par with that. I wouldn't be
- 26:54Speaker 1: too hard on yourself. That seems like a pretty remarkable
- 26:59Speaker 1: accomplishment on its own there anyway. But you know, what
- 27:02Speaker 1: do I know? So, okay. We kind of leave things
- 27:08Speaker 1: off here. Um, With, you know, the... I'm trying to
- 27:16Speaker 1: make sure that I didn't skip anything with this, like,
- 27:21Speaker 1: particular plot line, because there's the... There's a lot of
- 27:27Speaker 1: drawn-out chanting. Again, these guys really love chanting so much.
- 27:34Speaker 1: And there's a lot of Luffy just, like, looking at
- 27:38Speaker 1: his hands, remembering things, impressing everybody. He handles gazelle man again. Um,
- 27:45Speaker 1: and that seems to be like, we get one last
- 27:51Speaker 1: guy who goes up against him and then like we
- 27:55Speaker 1: cut away. Uh, so let's talk about this bath house.
- 28:00Speaker 1: This is so, this is so rough. I mean, like,
- 28:10Speaker 1: what is there to say? You guys know, I'm sure,
- 28:13Speaker 1: exactly how I feel about this already, but it's tough
- 28:16Speaker 1: because it turns out to be like a mixed-sex bathhouse. So,
- 28:22Speaker 1: all of these men are just ogling Nami and Robin also. Like,
- 28:28Speaker 1: it's weird because it feels almost like they're only ogling Nami,
- 28:33Speaker 1: but Robin is like... right there and looks practically identical.
- 28:39Speaker 1: So I don't know if it's just Nami or if
- 28:42Speaker 1: it's simply like the way it's reading because Nami is
- 28:45Speaker 1: the only one acknowledging them, but it is just so uncomfortable.
- 28:51Speaker 1: And for Sanji to be there secretly invisible, it's just
- 29:00Speaker 1: thumbs down on all of it. I hate it all
- 29:03Speaker 1: so much. I hate it all so much. Suffice to say,
- 29:10Speaker 1: Robin doesn't want to let her guard down. She feels like,
- 29:16Speaker 1: if I get fully into the water, we're just at
- 29:20Speaker 1: whoever's mercy that comes in and suppose an enemy shows up. Which,
- 29:26Speaker 1: while I understood her reasoning intellectually, all I could think was,
- 29:34Speaker 1: Being out of the water doesn't make you less vulnerable.
- 29:38Speaker 1: You're still in a towel. you know what i'm saying
- 29:42Speaker 1: like what exactly do you think is you're still standing
- 29:49Speaker 1: on like wet stone you're still just fucking helpless it
- 29:57Speaker 1: just didn't i didn't i i get you know let's
- 30:02Speaker 1: see um seraphim says she's she has a devil fruit
- 30:09Speaker 1: i'm sorry seraphim's actual comment is she's fit a devil
- 30:13Speaker 1: fruit bring in water mashed her weak which um i
- 30:19Speaker 1: do understand that's meant to be being in water makes
- 30:24Speaker 1: her weak i didn't realize it was all water i
- 30:27Speaker 1: thought it was sea water I thought it was like explicitly,
- 30:31Speaker 1: and I thought that it was not weak. It was
- 30:34Speaker 1: just that you can't swim. I mean, if she can't swim,
- 30:39Speaker 1: the water's two and a half feet deep. That's fine.
- 30:43Speaker 1: I didn't know that it just makes you weak overall.
- 30:48Speaker 1: Is that correct? I feel like I've watched enough of
- 30:51Speaker 1: this show at this point, that that being new information
- 30:55Speaker 1: is a problem. I didn't realize that was like, across
- 31:01Speaker 1: the board nope any water you can't soon because it
- 31:09Speaker 1: makes you too weak to swim uh it so it's
- 31:18Speaker 1: not just that you can't swim it's that Simply, it
- 31:25Speaker 1: drains your strength to that degree that you just sink
- 31:28Speaker 1: and don't even try to save yourself because you can't.
- 31:32Speaker 1: And it's not just seawater, it's any water. Wow, I
- 31:38Speaker 1: did not know that. That's excessive. I'm trying to think
- 31:45Speaker 1: like when it would have come up. that it happens
- 31:51Speaker 1: also in freshwater. And I'm realizing how much of the
- 31:56Speaker 1: show is just like we're on the ocean. And so
- 31:59Speaker 1: I don't think it's ever really been something that was
- 32:02Speaker 1: called to my attention, whether it happens in freshwater or not. Huh? Okay. Well,
- 32:10Speaker 1: that's very surprising and a lot more restrictive than I
- 32:17Speaker 1: like would expect. And that fucking, you know, there's been
- 32:23Speaker 1: times where I was like very much, I'd be willing
- 32:26Speaker 1: to sacrifice being able to swim to have a devil
- 32:28Speaker 1: fruit power. But if it makes it so that I
- 32:31Speaker 1: can't even like take a bath without basically feeling like
- 32:36Speaker 1: I've been drained, that's not worth it. I love baths
- 32:39Speaker 1: and hot tubs and stuff. I don't think that would
- 32:41Speaker 1: be a good enough payoff for me. But, okay. Interesting. Well,
- 32:52Speaker 1: all of these men are fucking staring at Nami. And
- 32:58Speaker 1: it's really like the whole way that this is played
- 33:00Speaker 1: to Nami is very obviously uncomfortable, you know, and no,
- 33:09Speaker 1: there's not a single dude in this scene who tells
- 33:13Speaker 1: them to knock it the fuck off. Even the guy
- 33:17Speaker 1: that's like her friend who turns out to be here
- 33:20Speaker 1: is only here because he was invisible to peep on
- 33:24Speaker 1: her as well. And this is what women talk about
- 33:28Speaker 1: when men try and say hashtag not all men is
- 33:31Speaker 1: like situations like this, where it's like, yeah, where's the
- 33:36Speaker 1: one guy who's not going to be a complete piece
- 33:38Speaker 1: of shit? Where is he? Where is he? The only
- 33:42Speaker 1: one that seems to have the most remote amount of
- 33:44Speaker 1: self-control is is Hawkins, who's a bad guy. And he's
- 33:50Speaker 1: here to do other damage. So not a great example.
- 33:56Speaker 1: But Shinobu eventually is just like, oh, I know that
- 34:00Speaker 1: you guys all want to get a look at this.
- 34:02Speaker 1: And she starts covering up Nami and standing in front
- 34:08Speaker 1: of her. And the men all just start yelling at her.
- 34:12Speaker 1: At which point she gets so irritated at how rude
- 34:15Speaker 1: they are being because they don't want to look at her.
- 34:19Speaker 1: That she smashes all their balls with a ball smash power.
- 34:23Speaker 1: Which they all deserved and she should do again. As
- 34:27Speaker 1: far as I am concerned. We move on to getting
- 34:32Speaker 1: scrubbed down by this huge octopus. Which is great. I
- 34:39Speaker 1: can't help but really enjoy, look, I am somebody who
- 34:42Speaker 1: has got an itchy back all the time. Anytime that like,
- 34:48Speaker 1: you know, for the day I've finally taken my bra
- 34:50Speaker 1: off before I'm about to put on my PJs, I
- 34:53Speaker 1: will like just shimmy up to my husband backwards and
- 34:56Speaker 1: be like, scratch my back, scratch my back. And the
- 34:59Speaker 1: few times that I have gotten like an all over
- 35:02Speaker 1: scrub have been the best. It's awesome. So this all
- 35:11Speaker 1: just sounds like a great day to me. Florian says
- 35:17Speaker 1: the weird part with Sanji is he was hiding invisible
- 35:20Speaker 1: in the public waiting room of a mixed gender bathhouse.
- 35:23Speaker 1: So somewhere he could just stand there and no one
- 35:26Speaker 1: would care. And yes, thank you, Seraphim, because I was
- 35:31Speaker 1: a little confused if it's a mixed gender house, then
- 35:33Speaker 1: you could have just gone into the bath with them.
- 35:35Speaker 1: I don't know. if it's partially that they don't know
- 35:41Speaker 1: he's there, that gets him off because that's a thing
- 35:45Speaker 1: for some people. But it's all very distressing. I'll just
- 35:52Speaker 1: say that. I didn't care for any of it. Eventually,
- 35:56Speaker 1: as they are talking over the plan and who is
- 36:02Speaker 1: where and yada yada, that's when Hawkins comes in And
- 36:08Speaker 1: he has, what's his face with him? I can't remember
- 36:10Speaker 1: this guy's name, who's looking for Soba Mask. Is that
- 36:17Speaker 1: the name he's going with? Is that right? But Hawkins
- 36:24Speaker 1: is unaffected by all of these naked women, whereas that
- 36:29Speaker 1: guy is very, very susceptible and like collapses. And what
- 36:34Speaker 1: they're here for is to look at everyone's ankles and
- 36:38Speaker 1: find who has a reversed crescent tattoo. So he has
- 36:46Speaker 1: this information and everybody on our crew is just like,
- 36:50Speaker 1: what the fuck? Who leaked this? How do they know?
- 36:55Speaker 1: And luckily, in a way, Sanji being here, like this
- 37:05Speaker 1: is the real reason that Sanji's here using this thing
- 37:09Speaker 1: is so that he can. This is so weird, though,
- 37:14Speaker 1: because you could have simply made it a regular bathhouse
- 37:18Speaker 1: with men separated from women and made it make a
- 37:23Speaker 1: lot more sense that Sanji would have to hide and
- 37:26Speaker 1: just cut the whole part where Nami is being ogled
- 37:30Speaker 1: by complete strangers. But we aren't doing that. For reasons.
- 37:36Speaker 1: I don't know. But when they begin to hassle Nami, Shinobu,
- 37:45Speaker 1: and Robin, there's a whole thing that Nami steps forward
- 37:50Speaker 1: and she's got her towel and she puts her hands
- 37:53Speaker 1: up like he tells her, which causes her to drop
- 37:55Speaker 1: the towel, which causes everybody to lose their fucking minds.
- 38:01Speaker 1: And That is when all of a sudden blood spurts
- 38:05Speaker 1: from nowhere and we realize that here is Sanji with
- 38:10Speaker 1: his nosebleed because he got to see Nami naked. Now,
- 38:15Speaker 1: I will say that the actual compliment that he gives her,
- 38:22Speaker 1: which is your body is like a sacred river curving
- 38:29Speaker 1: through a forest or something like that is top tier
- 38:34Speaker 1: i am not mad at it i didn't expect something
- 38:39Speaker 1: as poetical because this is a guy who will just
- 38:41Speaker 1: say your boobs are sexy and that is as simple
- 38:46Speaker 1: as it gets pretty much but actually that was pretty
- 38:51Speaker 1: solid he does not stop bleeding by the end of
- 38:56Speaker 1: this episode by the way he saves them and even
- 39:00Speaker 1: as they're leaving and like all like you know he's
- 39:03Speaker 1: like flying but starting to lose consciousness because of the
- 39:07Speaker 1: fact that he has lost so much blood and robin
- 39:10Speaker 1: has to be like hey um don't pass out okay
- 39:14Speaker 1: and he's just like yeah yeah yeah yeah sorry sorry
- 39:17Speaker 1: sorry sorry um but i am the the One thing
- 39:23Speaker 1: I will say is that the reaction of Drake, thank
- 39:28Speaker 1: you guys, and Hawkins to the reveal of Sanji being
- 39:33Speaker 1: part of his monstrous fucking family is pretty satisfying. They
- 39:39Speaker 1: seem to be a little bit shook, you know, and
- 39:43Speaker 1: to just be like, wow, we didn't, what is he
- 39:47Speaker 1: even doing here? And they keep trying to call him
- 39:51Speaker 1: by that, like, that villain name. And he's yelling, no,
- 39:57Speaker 1: don't call me that. I'm Soba Mask. And I just
- 40:00Speaker 1: can't help but giggle a little bit at the fact that, like,
- 40:02Speaker 1: everybody hates that name so much, and yet he is
- 40:05Speaker 1: insisting on it. But long story short, he manages to
- 40:10Speaker 1: get our people out of there in the nick of time.
- 40:13Speaker 1: But they do know now that we have a traitor
- 40:15Speaker 1: in our midst. Who is it who has... spilled the beans,
- 40:19Speaker 1: you know, and speaking of beans, now we're going to
- 40:24Speaker 1: go over to Chopper and talk about, talk about this
- 40:28Speaker 1: red bean soup. It's a really brief scene and pretty
- 40:36Speaker 1: much just cementing the fact that mom is having trouble
- 40:39Speaker 1: with her focus. She is getting hungry to a point
- 40:44Speaker 1: that is starting to be a little bit worrying to
- 40:47Speaker 1: regarding her behavior. I think that there's a point where
- 41:00Speaker 1: she's like asking Tama if she will share a bowl
- 41:03Speaker 1: with her or have one with her or something. And
- 41:06Speaker 1: Otama is like, of course. But she's like singing the
- 41:12Speaker 1: praises of the soup and using certain language to talk
- 41:16Speaker 1: about it. And then when mom is like, yes, you're
- 41:20Speaker 1: right about all those descriptors. And she says something about
- 41:24Speaker 1: how delightful it is with the pearls of tapioca floating
- 41:30Speaker 1: like frog's eyes, which causes Tama to stop and be like,
- 41:37Speaker 1: do you eat frog's eyes? Because it just really kind
- 41:41Speaker 1: of kills her boner. And mom says, no, it was
- 41:45Speaker 1: just an example. But, you know, it's a little hint
- 41:50Speaker 1: towards the fact that she does not have the same
- 41:54Speaker 1: sort of sensibilities about food that the average person would have.
- 41:58Speaker 1: And Otama seems a little bit weirded out. And it's
- 42:01Speaker 1: just enough of like an off kilter response that everybody
- 42:08Speaker 1: sort of is like looking at Chopper like, do you
- 42:10Speaker 1: really still think that this is a good idea? And like,
- 42:15Speaker 1: To be fair to Chopper, he does not know. He
- 42:17Speaker 1: isn't trying to insist, it's fine, it's fine, it's fine.
- 42:21Speaker 1: This whole thing wasn't something he was really on board
- 42:24Speaker 1: with from the fucking jump. They had to trick him,
- 42:27Speaker 1: not trick him, they had to convince him. They had
- 42:29Speaker 1: to talk him into it. He didn't want to be
- 42:32Speaker 1: doing this. He had misgivings right away and is going
- 42:37Speaker 1: along with it because it does seem like maybe we
- 42:40Speaker 1: have to, you know, take advantage of the opportunity in
- 42:43Speaker 1: front of us But it isn't exactly clear what we
- 42:50Speaker 1: can do if she does come back to herself. And
- 42:56Speaker 1: there's like something that she says, another thing that she says,
- 42:59Speaker 1: and she keeps on also, by the way, looking at
- 43:01Speaker 1: Chopper and making comments about how she like would like
- 43:03Speaker 1: a snack and that she could eat almost anything. It's a,
- 43:07Speaker 1: also very much noticeable that whenever Chopper is like, you
- 43:11Speaker 1: can't eat me, she does not at all protest that's
- 43:14Speaker 1: not what she means or that she would never eat
- 43:17Speaker 1: him or you know, like I want you, Mom, to
- 43:26Speaker 1: stop and say, of course not. What? I would never.
- 43:33Speaker 1: But no. It's I'm beginning to think that losing her
- 43:42Speaker 1: memory is not going to make mom better, like a
- 43:45Speaker 1: better person. I think maybe she's just like a disaster
- 43:47Speaker 1: and that's just it. It's a shame, but what can
- 43:52Speaker 1: you do? I kind of like it in a way
- 43:54Speaker 1: that even removing her memories, she's just got such a
- 44:04Speaker 1: like there's something about her that is just so wrong
- 44:07Speaker 1: and damaged that it doesn't matter. And she's going to
- 44:10Speaker 1: veer towards psychotic behavior every time. I feel like, I
- 44:14Speaker 1: don't know that works for me. It's like, she's friendlier,
- 44:18Speaker 1: but we saw her in the past and she was
- 44:21Speaker 1: still friendly in her way. It was just that she
- 44:26Speaker 1: didn't really understand how to be a person and then
- 44:30Speaker 1: either so that friendliness was weirdly misplaced or it would
- 44:33Speaker 1: be like you know she'd be hurting somebody and then
- 44:35Speaker 1: claiming she was trying to help and it's like yeah
- 44:37Speaker 1: but he was literally sobbing crying telling you to stop
- 44:40Speaker 1: so how did you think you were helping um so
- 44:45Speaker 1: yeah i guess that maybe there was nothing else to
- 44:49Speaker 1: be done and she's just who she is but uh
- 44:54Speaker 1: that's kind of the whole scene is them musing about like,
- 44:57Speaker 1: what is it that we're going to do once we
- 44:58Speaker 1: get where we're going? If like, when we don't have
- 45:01Speaker 1: the snacks, we're telling her we have, because the whole
- 45:05Speaker 1: thing is we're bringing her to try and save Luffy.
- 45:07Speaker 1: And the way we're convincing her to come with us
- 45:09Speaker 1: is by promising her this tree is going to be
- 45:12Speaker 1: waiting for her. And that is not the case. And
- 45:15Speaker 1: I have to assume she's going to go on the
- 45:16Speaker 1: fucking war path and it's going to be a whole thing. So,
- 45:24Speaker 1: Then we have the last, like, bit of, there's a
- 45:30Speaker 1: teeny tiny bit where we are with Frankie, Usopp, and Law.
- 45:41Speaker 1: And I think that, like, a couple of Law's guys
- 45:45Speaker 1: have been kidnapped to sort of use against him, which
- 45:49Speaker 1: Rob in the bathhouse is just like, yeah, that's going
- 45:52Speaker 1: to work. Because he cares about his people. Like even
- 45:56Speaker 1: if he is cranky. And they just realize Sanji isn't
- 46:01Speaker 1: with them. And suddenly get very annoyed with him. So
- 46:05Speaker 1: that's kind of the only time that we really spend
- 46:07Speaker 1: with them. And then we go over to Zoro. And
- 46:13Speaker 1: it's an odd. So Zoro's in Ringo. Very snowy. It's
- 46:23Speaker 1: a bigger country than I was thinking, considering that you
- 46:26Speaker 1: can have like totally different weather on the same island.
- 46:29Speaker 1: But there is a guy who is trying to take
- 46:35Speaker 1: Zorro's sword and is claiming Zorro stole it. And it's
- 46:44Speaker 1: just like it was at his grave or something like that.
- 46:47Speaker 1: And Zorro's like, well, yeah, I know. I don't remember
- 46:51Speaker 1: what any of this is, is referencing. And if you
- 46:55Speaker 1: all want to help fill me in here, I would
- 46:57Speaker 1: appreciate it. But he like fights Zoro and is insisting
- 47:05Speaker 1: like the original, the original owner of the sword was
- 47:08Speaker 1: super honorable and a like master of his craft. And
- 47:16Speaker 1: you are nowhere close and you don't have the integrity
- 47:19Speaker 1: that he had, etc. And this dude just seems to be,
- 47:26Speaker 1: it's odd because like initially I think Zoro isn't really trying.
- 47:31Speaker 1: He's just sort of frustrated with this guy for harshing
- 47:34Speaker 1: his vibe. And once this dude starts to insist that
- 47:38Speaker 1: like Zoro doesn't even really know what he's doing, that's
- 47:42Speaker 1: the only time when Zoro starts to really pull it out.
- 47:48Speaker 1: Seraphim says, so the Gyukimaru thing, like most aspects of Wano,
- 47:54Speaker 1: is based on Edo period folklore about a monk who
- 47:58Speaker 1: would challenge and defeat samurai to take their weapons. Tia
- 48:03Speaker 1: in the chat. Hi, Tia. The samurai who had Brooke's
- 48:07Speaker 1: shadow is who Zoro got the sword from. Wow. Wow. Right. Okay.
- 48:15Speaker 2: Wow.
- 48:16Speaker 1: That's been a while. Florian says, we do not know
- 48:22Speaker 1: why Wano is so obsessed with the sword slash the
- 48:26Speaker 1: guy who had it. And yeah, Brooke's zombie was this
- 48:31Speaker 1: legend guy. Okay.
- 48:38Speaker 2: Huh.
- 48:40Speaker 1: Interesting. Interesting. Okay. Um, so they are, they are in
- 48:48Speaker 1: the midst of their duel. And then here comes Kimura Saki.
- 48:57Speaker 1: And it's such a weird, like the way that this, uh,
- 49:01Speaker 1: that she just sort of appears and interrupts this. And
- 49:06Speaker 1: I don't, what she says is that she is like
- 49:10Speaker 1: running from this slasher, but I just don't get how
- 49:17Speaker 1: this turned this corner here the way that it did.
- 49:20Speaker 1: Why is she running here now? Why didn't she run
- 49:27Speaker 1: into town? Is it that she wants... I keep thinking
- 49:31Speaker 1: it's like she wants everybody to keep thinking she's dead
- 49:33Speaker 1: so they won't come after her anymore, but the... person
- 49:37Speaker 1: is chasing her and so knows that she is still alive.
- 49:40Speaker 1: So I don't know. And like they're running at Zorro
- 49:45Speaker 1: yelling about how they need help, but they're also laughing.
- 49:49Speaker 1: And so Zorro gets very confused, understandably at the tone
- 49:54Speaker 1: that they have and just doesn't at first thinks that
- 49:56Speaker 1: they're just fucking with him. And as they run toward him,
- 50:04Speaker 1: there is this like red scrap of cloth that Toko
- 50:09Speaker 1: had like on her head, I think that flies off
- 50:12Speaker 1: and gets sent like flying into the distance until all
- 50:17Speaker 1: of a sudden it weirdly like slams forward. And this
- 50:22Speaker 1: guy appears and it's like a very dramatic, I don't
- 50:31Speaker 1: know if it was the, uh, scarf itself that sort
- 50:35Speaker 1: of like tells him where they are or what, but it's,
- 50:42Speaker 1: I actually really liked the effect of the, the cloth,
- 50:48Speaker 1: like floating past into the distance. And then suddenly this
- 50:52Speaker 1: guy being like behind it, I thought that was kind
- 50:54Speaker 1: of a neat reveal and, And then, like I said,
- 50:59Speaker 1: this dramatic moment where this guy tries to bring his
- 51:03Speaker 1: sword down on the two, the woman and child, and
- 51:08Speaker 1: Zoro blocks him and stops him. But Gyukumaru is still
- 51:15Speaker 1: trying to fight Zoro too, which was actually really funny.
- 51:21Speaker 1: Zoro is like, how are you not going to give
- 51:23Speaker 1: me a second? Do you not see what's happening here?
- 51:25Speaker 1: And You know, there's something about the fact that this
- 51:29Speaker 1: guy is like, give you a second. No. What do
- 51:33Speaker 1: you mean? I'm fighting. We're fighting. Just because somebody else
- 51:36Speaker 1: shows up, we're not done. And I don't know. I
- 51:41Speaker 1: thought that was actually hilarious. And to be fair, so
- 51:45Speaker 1: does the slasher because he starts laughing too. Now, the
- 51:51Speaker 1: slasher guy, I had thought What's his name this whole time?
- 52:00Speaker 1: The princeling.
- 52:03Speaker 2: And I'm still kind of thinking it is, but he's
- 52:09Speaker 2: got a different look to his eyes, I think, than.
- 52:16Speaker 1: The other guy. I'm not really sure if I was
- 52:20Speaker 1: right or not. And the fact that she is still running... I,
- 52:28Speaker 1: maybe that's why that she's like, okay, well, if I
- 52:30Speaker 1: go into town and I tell them to help me,
- 52:32Speaker 1: this guy has so much power, they won't be able
- 52:34Speaker 1: to stop him. But he doesn't really look like the same,
- 52:39Speaker 1: is it the same guy? Like his neck is like
- 52:41Speaker 1: triple the thickness it feels like. But, oh my God,
- 52:47Speaker 1: Toko's still laughing and her face is like blue at
- 52:50Speaker 1: this point and there are tears in her eyes. Like
- 52:52Speaker 1: she is just so creepy. And I know that it's
- 52:54Speaker 1: kind of supposed to be that she isn't able to
- 52:58Speaker 1: just be as scared as she wants to be. So
- 53:01Speaker 1: she has to kind of mask it in this weird reaction, but, uh,
- 53:06Speaker 1: it is just off putting. Um, so it's, uh, what's
- 53:15Speaker 1: her face who is saying, um, Kimura Saki, that he
- 53:20Speaker 1: is an assassin that works for Orochi. And, um, is like, well,
- 53:27Speaker 1: that's why you had to come at us. And he says, oh,
- 53:33Speaker 1: you're going to talk about him without his title. That's
- 53:36Speaker 1: really disrespectful. And then asks, like, I think he asked her, like, well,
- 53:44Speaker 1: maybe not. Maybe it's Zoro asking him, who are you?
- 53:46Speaker 1: I'm looking at the subtitles right now. But yeah, the
- 53:52Speaker 1: moment here is like, Komurasaki telling Zoro, I need your help, please.
- 53:58Speaker 1: I'll do whatever it is you want. And he just
- 54:01Speaker 1: is like, I just want a meal and some sake.
- 54:04Speaker 1: And she says, deal. And then he says, well, I'm in.
- 54:10Speaker 1: And then begins to approach this serial killer. Meanwhile, the
- 54:15Speaker 1: other guy that he had been fighting actually does seem
- 54:19Speaker 1: to like be giving him a second here. Um, And
- 54:24Speaker 1: this dude says, I was given permission to dismantle anyone
- 54:28Speaker 1: who gets in my way. To which Zoro is like,
- 54:31Speaker 1: all right, well, whoever gave you permission is going to
- 54:34Speaker 1: be irritated with me. But that's fine. I'll deal with
- 54:40Speaker 1: that after I kill you, pretty much. And this guy
- 54:43Speaker 1: is just like, oh, you started it, buddy. And he
- 54:47Speaker 1: turns into like a literal cyclone and is coming after
- 54:51Speaker 1: these two. And the way that he's animated a couple
- 54:56Speaker 1: times was reminding me of the guy who was so self-absorbed,
- 55:02Speaker 1: who had the weird condition where he would transform into
- 55:06Speaker 1: this maniac sometimes. There have been a few moments where
- 55:12Speaker 1: we've seen the animation do that with this guy, where
- 55:14Speaker 1: it almost made me go, is this like an alter
- 55:16Speaker 1: ego thing? But I don't think that's really not the...
- 55:21Speaker 1: I don't think that's the situation here. Oh, Florian is
- 55:27Speaker 1: saying the Pompadour guy, I'm not sure about his name
- 55:30Speaker 1: and that's what I call him, but they are not
- 55:31Speaker 1: the same guy. Okay. Okay. Cause like, I was so
- 55:36Speaker 1: sure that's what that dude's deal was, but evidently not.
- 55:40Speaker 1: I just really thought he was the one. So yeah, this,
- 55:47Speaker 1: this fight between him and Zorro get started here. And
- 55:52Speaker 1: this is actually some more, fun animation for this fight,
- 55:58Speaker 1: I think then we often get to see with the
- 56:03Speaker 1: sword fights, they can be, I don't want to say
- 56:05Speaker 1: they can be boring, but they can be very like samey,
- 56:09Speaker 1: you know, where you get a similar villain, you get
- 56:13Speaker 1: a similar series of moves and there's like a kind
- 56:17Speaker 1: of rote quality, but there's a combo here that, It's
- 56:22Speaker 1: like the setting being snowy, that adds a certain amount
- 56:27Speaker 1: of interest. It's the effect of this guy being able
- 56:30Speaker 1: to turn into like a cyclone, which is cool. And
- 56:34Speaker 1: that he is clearly just like unhinged. You know, this
- 56:37Speaker 1: dude is not okay. And there's just, I don't know,
- 56:44Speaker 1: there was something about the vibe here that I found
- 56:49Speaker 1: very engaging and compelling. And I was having a really
- 56:51Speaker 1: good time watching it. Uh, and Zoro like goes in
- 56:56Speaker 1: and then finally says to himself, all right, this guy's
- 57:00Speaker 1: pretty tough. And he has this robe that he's been
- 57:02Speaker 1: wearing that he pulls off so that he is less restricted.
- 57:06Speaker 1: And that's when the other guy is like, ah, you're
- 57:08Speaker 1: getting serious. Finally. And that is how the episode ends.
- 57:12Speaker 1: And Zoro looks delighted for the record. He looks like
- 57:16Speaker 1: he is so excited to have this fight and for
- 57:18Speaker 1: this dude to be a genuine opponent. And, um, I just,
- 57:23Speaker 1: I just want to know why this, like, how is
- 57:27Speaker 1: it that there's an assassin sent after her if everybody
- 57:29Speaker 1: thought she was dead? Or are we saying that she's
- 57:33Speaker 1: dead because we're so sure that she's been taken care
- 57:36Speaker 1: of by the assassin? Like, I know it's because she
- 57:39Speaker 1: slapped the Shogun, right? And, you know, I said before,
- 57:45Speaker 1: I don't know how you come back from that, so
- 57:46Speaker 1: I kind of feel like you gotta at this point. But, um,
- 57:53Speaker 1: Florian says the assassin is sent after Toko after the child. Okay.
- 57:58Speaker 1: I thought it was after Kimura Saki for slapping him,
- 58:01Speaker 1: but it's after Toko for laughing at him. My God,
- 58:04Speaker 1: even more fragile. What a dude. Well, yeah, I like
- 58:10Speaker 1: these episodes. I thought these were fun and I am
- 58:13Speaker 1: really interested in where we're going. Um, especially with like
- 58:16Speaker 1: Luffy trying to level up his abilities a little bit here.
- 58:19Speaker 1: So I, I can't wait to see, like, you know, we've,
- 58:25Speaker 1: we're up to gear four now, right? Have we seen
- 58:27Speaker 1: a gear five yet? I don't think we have. Maybe that,
- 58:32Speaker 1: maybe that'll bust out, but that really seems much more
- 58:34Speaker 1: to do with his own devil fruit thing, which is
- 58:37Speaker 1: different than what Rayleigh is doing that Luffy's trying to emulate.
- 58:41Speaker 1: So I don't know. It might not be related. All right. Well,
- 58:45Speaker 1: I have to wrap up. I'm over time, but thank
- 58:46Speaker 1: you guys again for hanging out with me. Appreciate you
- 58:48Speaker 1: all very much. And looking forward to the next one.
- 58:52Speaker 1: Until then, toodaloo, motherfuckers. That was an unspoiled network podcast.
