New Hanover County is racing to add 225 new acute care beds by 2026, with three major health systems stepping forward: UNC Health Wilmington wants to build a brand-new 150-bed hospital for $850M by July 2031; Atrium Health Coastal and Advocate Health propose a 42-bed facility for $395M by January 2032; and Novant Health plans to expand its existing site with 225 beds for just $236M, ready by January 2030.
