- 0:13Speaker 1: Compositions of Gurugobin Singh extracts from Vichita Natak One. Gurugobin
- 0:23Speaker 1: Singh addresses God as a sword to destroy his enemies.
- 0:28Speaker 1: I bow with love and devotion to the holy sword.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Assist me that I may complete this work. Thou art
- 0:36Speaker 1: the subduer of countries, the destroyer of the armies of
- 0:40Speaker 1: the wicked. In the battle field. Thou greatly adornest the brave.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Thine arm is infringible. Thy brightness, refulgent, Thy radiance and splendor,
- 0:51Speaker 1: dazzle like the sun. Thou Bestowa's happiness on the good.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Thou terrifiest the evil. Thou scatterest sinners. I seek thy protein. Hail,
- 1:01Speaker 1: Hail to the creator of the world, the savior of creation.
- 1:05Speaker 1: My cherry is sure. Hail to thee o sword. I
- 1:10Speaker 1: bow to him who holdeth the arrow in his hand.
- 1:13Speaker 1: I bow to the fearless one. I bow to the
- 1:16Speaker 1: God of gods, who is in the present and the future.
- 1:20Speaker 1: I bow to the scimitar, the to edged sword, the
- 1:23Speaker 1: thou gin, and the dagger Thou, o God, hast ever
- 1:27Speaker 1: one form, Thou art ever unchangeable. I bow to the
- 1:30Speaker 1: holder of the mace, who diffuse light through the fourteen worlds.
- 1:35Speaker 1: About to the raw and the musket, A bow to
- 1:38Speaker 1: the sword, spotless, fearless and unbreakable, about the powerful mace
- 1:44Speaker 1: and lance, to which nothing is equal. About to him
- 1:47Speaker 1: who holdeth the discus, who is not made of the elements,
- 1:51Speaker 1: and who is terrible, I bow to him with the
- 1:54Speaker 1: strong teeth. About to him who is supremely powerful, I
- 1:58Speaker 1: bow to the arrow and the cannon, which destroyed the enemy.
- 2:02Speaker 1: About the sword and the rapier, which destroy the evil.
- 2:06Speaker 1: About to all weapons called shastar, which may be held,
- 2:11Speaker 1: About to all weapons called astar, which may be hurled
- 2:15Speaker 1: or discharged. Thou turnest men like me from blades of
- 2:20Speaker 1: grass into mountains. Then thou there is none other cherisher
- 2:25Speaker 1: of the poor, O God, do thou thyself pardon mine errors.
- 2:30Speaker 1: There is none who hath heard like me. The houses
- 2:34Speaker 1: of those who have served thee are all seen filled
- 2:37Speaker 1: with wealth in this cow age, and at all times
- 2:41Speaker 1: there is great confidence in the powerful arm of the sword,
- 2:46Speaker 1: which in one moment destroyed millions of demons, like Sumb
- 2:51Speaker 1: and mis Sumb, which in an instance subdued demons such
- 2:56Speaker 1: as Do Malakan, Chandmund and Mahik, which in a trice
- 3:02Speaker 1: repelled demons such as chamar Ran, Chichar and Raka Chichan,
- 3:09Speaker 1: which careth thy slaves since he hath found a good lord,
- 3:12Speaker 1: like thee which crushed millions, like munt Madhu, khitab Moor
- 3:18Speaker 1: and ag They who never sought shelter in the battlefield,
- 3:22Speaker 1: and who retreated not even two paces when blows were
- 3:25Speaker 1: dealt around them. The demons who could not be drowned
- 3:28Speaker 1: in the sea, and who could not be burnt by
- 3:30Speaker 1: faiery arrows. On beholding thy flash our sword, cast aside
- 3:37Speaker 1: shame and fled. Thou in a moment dost destroy such
- 3:41Speaker 1: hi ros as Rawan, Maharawan, Kumbakaran, Magan nand and Akampan.
- 3:49Speaker 1: In waging war with whom even death grew wearied. Kamb
- 3:53Speaker 1: A kamb who, having conquered the whole world, washed their
- 3:57Speaker 1: arms in the seven seas. They, who were invulnerable and huge,
- 4:02Speaker 1: were all wounded and killed by the sword in the
- 4:05Speaker 1: hand of God. If any one flee to save himself
- 4:10Speaker 1: from the destroyer, say in which direction shall he flee?
- 4:14Speaker 1: Can man run away from God who stopeth him with
- 4:16Speaker 1: a drawn sword, thundering and brandishing it? No contrivance hath
- 4:21Speaker 1: been made by which man may escape from the wound
- 4:25Speaker 1: God inflicteth. Why O, fool seekest thou not cheerfully the
- 4:29Speaker 1: asylum of him from whom thou canst not escape? Thou
- 4:35Speaker 1: hast millions of times repeated the names of Krishan and Vishnu,
- 4:39Speaker 1: and fully meditated on Ramchandar and the prophet. Thou hast
- 4:42Speaker 1: repeated Brahma's name, and established Shiv in thy heart. But
- 4:47Speaker 1: none of them will save thee. Thou hast performed millions
- 4:50Speaker 1: of penances for millions of days, but none of them
- 4:53Speaker 1: will avail thee. Akari incantations to obtain thy desires wilt
- 4:59Speaker 1: not be worth thee half a paisa. None of them
- 5:02Speaker 1: will save thee from the stroke of death. Why performest
- 5:05Speaker 1: thou false penance to the gods? It will not avail
- 5:09Speaker 1: thee a cowie? How can they save thee when they
- 5:12Speaker 1: cannot protect themselves from the stroke of death? They will
- 5:16Speaker 1: suspend thee in the fiery pit of terrible wrath, as
- 5:19Speaker 1: they are suspended themselves. Think even today in thy heart,
- 5:24Speaker 1: o fool. Without the favor of God, nothing can avail THEE.
- 5:31Speaker 1: It is not by the practice of perpetual silence, nor
- 5:34Speaker 1: by the ostensible relinquishment of pride, nor by the adoption
- 5:38Speaker 1: of a religious dress, nor by shaving the head, nor
- 5:41Speaker 1: by wearing a wooden necklace, nor by twisting matted hair
- 5:44Speaker 1: round the head, that God is found. I speak the
- 5:48Speaker 1: truth here it attentively. Without entering the protection of the
- 5:51Speaker 1: compassionate to the poor, and loving him, can God be found.
- 5:55Speaker 1: The merciful one is not pleased with circumcision. Were I
- 6:00Speaker 1: to make all the islands my paper and the seven
- 6:03Speaker 1: sees my ink, Were I to cut down all trees
- 6:06Speaker 1: and turn them into pens for writing, Were I to
- 6:09Speaker 1: make Raswati dictate for millions of ages, where I to
- 6:14Speaker 1: write with the hand of ganesh O Thou who holdest
- 6:18Speaker 1: the destroying sword, I could not please THEE even a
- 6:21Speaker 1: little without offering thee homage to Thy greatness is endless
- 6:28Speaker 1: and boundless. No one hath found its limits. Thou art
- 6:31Speaker 1: God of God's King of kings, compassionate to poor, and
- 6:34Speaker 1: cherisher of the lowly, the dumb, would recite the six
- 6:38Speaker 1: Shastar's cripples would climb mountains, the blind would see, and
- 6:42Speaker 1: the deaf here if God would only show favor, How
- 6:45Speaker 1: can my feeble intellect, Oh God, describe thy greatness? I
- 6:49Speaker 1: cannot utter thy praises? Do thou correct this work? How
- 6:54Speaker 1: far can this worm speak? It is only thou, O God,
- 6:58Speaker 1: who knowest thy own praises, as his son knoweth not
- 7:03Speaker 1: the time of his father's birth. How can I tell
- 7:06Speaker 1: Thy secret? Thy greatness becometh THEE? It cannot be described
- 7:10Speaker 1: by others. Thou knowest thine own works of God? How
- 7:14Speaker 1: shall high or low describe thee? Shash nag whom thou
- 7:18Speaker 1: discreate with a thousand heads, whom two thousand tongues adorn
- 7:22Speaker 1: until now is uttering thy boundless names. Yet even still
- 7:27Speaker 1: he cannot find their limit? How far can anyone describe
- 7:31Speaker 1: Thy works? The intellect is perplexed in trying to understand them.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Thy subtle form cannot be described. I shall describe Thy
- 7:38Speaker 1: great form. When I have obtained thy love and service.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Then shall I put aside all other narratives and describe THEE.
- 7:49Speaker 1: I shall now relate my own history, and how the
- 7:53Speaker 1: Saudi family originated at first when God extended himself, the
- 7:57Speaker 1: world was created by him. The man who do with
- 8:00Speaker 1: good deeds is called a demigod in the world. He
- 8:03Speaker 1: who do with bad deeds in the world to style
- 8:05Speaker 1: the demon. Khao San was the first king. His strength
- 8:09Speaker 1: and form were unsurpassed incomparable and unrivaled. Khal Ket was
- 8:15Speaker 1: the second king. Queer Barras was appointed the third king
- 8:18Speaker 1: in the world. Kaylhjj was the fourth king who graced
- 8:22Speaker 1: sovereignty in this line. Raghu was born from whom the
- 8:26Speaker 1: Raghu race was descended from them. An excellent son, aj
- 8:31Speaker 1: was born a great charioteer and archer. When he assumed
- 8:35Speaker 1: the garb of a Jogi, he bestowed his empire and
- 8:38Speaker 1: throne Andasioth, who also became a great archer. He felt
- 8:43Speaker 1: desire and married three wives. His first son was the
- 8:46Speaker 1: Prince ram, the second Barat, the third laj Mahan, and
- 8:51Speaker 1: the fourth shot Rugan. They ruled for a long time.
- 8:55Speaker 1: They then died and went to heaven. Sita's sons, Lahu
- 9:00Speaker 1: and Kushu, afterwards both became kings and raised kingdoms and thrones.
- 9:06Speaker 1: On their marriage with the daughters of the king of
- 9:08Speaker 1: the Panjab. They performed various sacrifices. They built their two cities,
- 9:14Speaker 1: one Kasur, the second Lahawa Lahore. Both became very famous,
- 9:19Speaker 1: Sa'lon and am Rawati. The city of Indhar became ashamed
- 9:24Speaker 1: on beholding them. Kushu and Lahu reigned for a long time,
- 9:28Speaker 1: but were at length caught in the noose of death.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Their sons and grandsons also ruled in this world. How
- 9:35Speaker 1: far shall I tell their history? I cannot even recount
- 9:38Speaker 1: their names. It is related that Kayl Keht and Kyl
- 9:43Speaker 1: Rai had innumerable sons in their homes. Kyl Ket possessed
- 9:47Speaker 1: peerless strength and expelled Karl Rai from the city. He
- 9:51Speaker 1: fled to the s Naot country, where he married a
- 9:55Speaker 1: king's daughter. The son born in his house of that
- 9:57Speaker 1: marriage he named sad he Rye. The Saudi race began
- 10:02Speaker 1: from that time. It was made by the supremely pure creator.
- 10:06Speaker 1: The sons and grandsons who sprang from Saudi Rai were
- 10:10Speaker 1: all called Sadis. In this world. They became very distinguished
- 10:14Speaker 1: among men, and their wealth increased day by day. They
- 10:17Speaker 1: exercised independent sway and conquered the kings of many countries.
- 10:22Speaker 1: They enforced religion everywhere, caused umbrellas to wave over their heads,
- 10:26Speaker 1: and on many occasions performed sacrifices at royal coronations. Afterwards,
- 10:32Speaker 1: dissension arose among them, and no holy man could arrest
- 10:36Speaker 1: its progress. Heroes and invincible warriors went about karapationened, took arms,
- 10:43Speaker 1: and went to fight in the field of battle for
- 10:45Speaker 1: wealth and land. Ancient is the struggle to compass which
- 10:49Speaker 1: men willingly die. Worldly love and pride have extended quarrels,
- 10:54Speaker 1: lust and wrath have conquered the whole world. Nobody can
- 11:00Speaker 1: compute the time when enmity, dissension, and pride were diffused
- 11:04Speaker 1: in this world. Their basis is greed, by the desire
- 11:08Speaker 1: for which everyone killeth himself. Three. The Sadis returned to
- 11:14Speaker 1: the Panjab and waged war with the descendants of Kushu,
- 11:18Speaker 1: who had been left behind. The descendants of Kushu, being defeated,
- 11:22Speaker 1: fled to Banarus, where they became readers of the vEDS. Four.
- 11:28Speaker 1: Those of the expelled descendants of Kushu who read the
- 11:31Speaker 1: vEDS were called Bedies. They carefully attended to their religious duties.
- 11:37Speaker 1: The King of the Panjab dispatched them a conciliatory letter
- 11:40Speaker 1: to forget the enmity that prevailed among them. The Raja's
- 11:44Speaker 1: messenger arrived in Banarus and explained the contents of the
- 11:48Speaker 1: missive to all the Beds. Upon this, all the readers
- 11:52Speaker 1: of the vEDS proceeded to the Panjab, and on their
- 11:55Speaker 1: arrival made obeisance to the king. He caused them to
- 11:59Speaker 1: recite the beds while all his brethren were seated near
- 12:02Speaker 1: him in the assembly. They recited the Salam bed, the
- 12:06Speaker 1: yah Yur bed, then the rig bed, making gesticulations with
- 12:12Speaker 1: their hands, and finally the Arthurah bed. The Raja was
- 12:16Speaker 1: pleased and gave them all his possessions. He elected to
- 12:21Speaker 1: live in the force to remove his great sins. On
- 12:24Speaker 1: giving them his kingdom, he reassumed the garb of Riki.
- 12:27Speaker 1: The people tried to restrain him, but he dismissed all
- 12:30Speaker 1: regret and relinquishing wealth in place, became absorbed in God's love.
- 12:35Speaker 1: The Bedi chief was pleased on obtaining the kingdom, and
- 12:39Speaker 1: in the joy of his heart blessed the Saudi king, saying,
- 12:43Speaker 1: when I come in the cow age under the name
- 12:45Speaker 1: of Nanak, I will make thee worthy of worship in
- 12:48Speaker 1: the world, and thou shalt attain the highest dignity. Thou
- 12:52Speaker 1: hast heard the three beds from us. On hearing the
- 12:55Speaker 1: fourth bed, thou gavest thy territory, having asserned three births.
- 13:01Speaker 1: In my fourth I will make thee guru. On the
- 13:04Speaker 1: one hand, the Saudi king went to the forest. On
- 13:07Speaker 1: the other, the Betty king was happy in his sovereignty.
- 13:10Speaker 1: How far shall I amplify this story? I very much
- 13:14Speaker 1: feared to swell my book five Afterwards, Again, quarrels increased
- 13:19Speaker 1: among the Beddees, which no one could adjust. It was
- 13:22Speaker 1: the will of God that sovereignty should pass from their family.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Only twenty villages remained to the Bedees, which they began
- 13:30Speaker 1: to till A long time passed in that way until
- 13:34Speaker 1: the epoch of the birth of nanak arrived. Nanakrie, born
- 13:38Speaker 1: in the line of those Bedees, conferred happiness on all
- 13:42Speaker 1: his disciples and assisted them in this world and the next.
- 13:46Speaker 1: He established religion in the kaw Age and showed the
- 13:49Speaker 1: way unto all holy men. Sin never troubleth those who
- 13:54Speaker 1: follow in his footsteps. God removeth all suffering and sin
- 13:58Speaker 1: from those who embrace his religion. Pain and hunger never
- 14:01Speaker 1: annoy them, and they never fall into death's news. Nanak
- 14:06Speaker 1: assumed the body of Ang God and made his religion
- 14:09Speaker 1: current in the world. Afterwards, Nanak was called amar Das
- 14:13Speaker 1: as one lamp is lit from another. When the time
- 14:17Speaker 1: for the fulfillment of the blessing came, then ram Das
- 14:21Speaker 1: Sadi became Guru. Amar Doas gave him the Guru ship
- 14:25Speaker 1: according to the ancient blessing, and took the road to
- 14:29Speaker 1: Paradise himself. The holy Nanok was revered as a god.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Am God was recognized as Ahmardas, and ahmar Doas became Ramdas.
- 14:40Speaker 1: The pious saw this, but not the fools, who thought
- 14:44Speaker 1: them all distinct. But some rare person recognized that they
- 14:48Speaker 1: were all one. They who understood this obtained perfection. Without understanding,
- 14:54Speaker 1: perfection cannot be obtained. When Ramdas was blended with God,
- 14:58Speaker 1: he gave the Guru ship to ar John. When Arjan
- 15:02Speaker 1: was going to God's city, he appointed Gobind in his place.
- 15:06Speaker 1: When aur Gobind was going to God's city, he seated
- 15:10Speaker 1: Rai in his place. Har Grishan, his son, afterwards became
- 15:15Speaker 1: Guru after him came tag Bahadur, who protected the frontal
- 15:20Speaker 1: marks and sacrificial threads of the Hindus, and displayed great
- 15:24Speaker 1: bravely in the cow age. When he put an end
- 15:27Speaker 1: to his life for the sake of holy men, he
- 15:30Speaker 1: gave his head, but uttered not a groan. He suffered
- 15:33Speaker 1: martyrdom for the sake of his religion. He gave his head,
- 15:36Speaker 1: but swere of not from his determination. God's people would
- 15:40Speaker 1: be ashamed to perform the tricks of mountebanks and cheats.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Having broken his pots herd on the head of the
- 15:46Speaker 1: King of Dilly, he departed to Paradise. None came into
- 15:50Speaker 1: the world to perform such deeds as he. At his departure,
- 15:56Speaker 1: there was morning in this world. There was grief through
- 15:58Speaker 1: the world, but joy in Paradise. Six Gurugubin Singh now
- 16:04Speaker 1: speaks regarding himself. I shall now tell my own history.
- 16:08Speaker 1: How God brought me into the world. As I was
- 16:11Speaker 1: performing penance on the mountain of hem Kant, where the
- 16:15Speaker 1: seven peaks are conspicuous. The place is called the sapt Shring,
- 16:19Speaker 1: where King Pandu practiced yag. There I performed very great
- 16:24Speaker 1: austerities and worshiped Great Death. I performed such penance that
- 16:28Speaker 1: I became blended with God. My father and mother had
- 16:31Speaker 1: also worshiped the Unseen One and strove in many ways
- 16:35Speaker 1: to unite themselves with him. The Supreme Guru was pleased
- 16:39Speaker 1: with their devotion to him. When God gave me the
- 16:42Speaker 1: order I assume birth in this call age, I did
- 16:46Speaker 1: not desire to come, as my attention was fixed on
- 16:49Speaker 1: God's feet. God remonstrated earnestly with me and sent me
- 16:53Speaker 1: into this world with the following orders. When I created
- 16:57Speaker 1: this world, I first made the demons, who became enemies
- 17:01Speaker 1: and oppressors. They became intoxicated with the strength of their
- 17:05Speaker 1: arms and ceased to worship me, the Supreme Being. I
- 17:10Speaker 1: became angry and at once destroyed them in their places.
- 17:13Speaker 1: I established the gods. They also busied themselves with receiving
- 17:19Speaker 1: sacrifices in worship and called themselves supreme beings. Mahadev called
- 17:25Speaker 1: himself the imperishable God. Vishnu too declared himself to be God.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Bama called himself the Supreme Brahm, and nobody thought me
- 17:36Speaker 1: to be God. Then I made the eight Sakis, who
- 17:40Speaker 1: were appointed to keep watch over creatures. They told people
- 17:44Speaker 1: to worship them and said, there is no God but us.
- 17:47Speaker 1: They who did not recognize the primal essence worshiped them
- 17:51Speaker 1: as God. How many worshiped the sun and moon. How
- 17:55Speaker 1: many maide burnt offerings. How many worshiped the wind. Some
- 17:59Speaker 1: recognized the stone as God. How many bathed in the water.
- 18:03Speaker 1: According to shahstrik Rites, how many, recognizing dharm Raj as
- 18:08Speaker 1: their supreme judge, performed religious ceremonies through fear. They whom
- 18:13Speaker 1: I appointed to watch over creatures on coming into this world,
- 18:18Speaker 1: call themselves God. They altogether forgot my orders and became absorbed,
- 18:23Speaker 1: each in his own praise. When they did not recognize me,
- 18:27Speaker 1: Then I created men. They too fell under the influence
- 18:31Speaker 1: of pride and made gods out of stones. Then I
- 18:34Speaker 1: created the Sids and the sods, and they too found
- 18:38Speaker 1: not the supreme being. Whoever was clever in the world,
- 18:41Speaker 1: established his own sect, and no one found the Creator
- 18:46Speaker 1: and matig contention and pride increased. Men began to burn
- 18:50Speaker 1: trunk and leaves in their own fire, and none of
- 18:53Speaker 1: them went My way. They who obtained a little spiritual power,
- 18:58Speaker 1: struck out their own way. None of them recognized the
- 19:02Speaker 1: supreme Being, but became mad boasting of themselves. None of
- 19:07Speaker 1: them recognized the real essence, but each became absorbed in himself.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Then I created the supreme rickeys, who afterwards made their
- 19:16Speaker 1: own symmetees. Current They who were smitten by the submit
- 19:20Speaker 1: tries abandoned my worship. They who attached their hearts to
- 19:24Speaker 1: my feet did not walk in the way of the symmetries.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Brahma made the four vEDS and caused all to act
- 19:31Speaker 1: according to them. But they whose love was attached to
- 19:34Speaker 1: my feet renounced the vEDS. They who abandoned the tenets
- 19:37Speaker 1: of the vEDS and of other religious books, became devoted
- 19:41Speaker 1: to Me, the Supreme God. They who follow true religion
- 19:45Speaker 1: shall have their sins of various kinds blotted out. They
- 19:49Speaker 1: who endure bodily suffering and ceased not to love me
- 19:53Speaker 1: shall all go to paradise, and there shall be no
- 19:56Speaker 1: difference between Me and them. They who who shrinked from
- 20:01Speaker 1: suffering and forsaking me adopt the way of the beds
- 20:04Speaker 1: and cemitries shall fall into the pit of hell and
- 20:08Speaker 1: continually suffer transmigration. Afterwards, I created toad Trey, who also
- 20:14Speaker 1: struck out his own path. He pared not his finger nails.
- 20:18Speaker 1: He decorated his head with matted hair, and paid no
- 20:21Speaker 1: heed to my worship. Then I created Rok, who made
- 20:25Speaker 1: great kings his disciples, and tearing their ears, put rings
- 20:30Speaker 1: in them. But he thought not of the way of
- 20:32Speaker 1: my love. Then I created ramanand who wore the garb
- 20:37Speaker 1: of a by Raji, put a wooden necklace on his neck,
- 20:40Speaker 1: and paid no heed to my worship. They, who were
- 20:43Speaker 1: created by me, struck out their several paths. I then
- 20:47Speaker 1: created Mohammed and made him king of Arabia. He too,
- 20:51Speaker 1: established a religion of his own, cut off the four
- 20:54Speaker 1: skins of all his followers, and made everyone repeat his name.
- 20:57Speaker 1: But no one fixed the true name in man's heart.
- 21:01Speaker 1: All these were wrapped up in themselves, and none of
- 21:03Speaker 1: them recognized me, the Supreme being. I have cherished THEE
- 21:07Speaker 1: as my son and created THEE to extend my religion.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Go and spread my religion there and restrain the world
- 21:14Speaker 1: from senseless acts. I stood up, clasp my hands about
- 21:20Speaker 1: my head, and replied, thy religion shall prevail in the
- 21:23Speaker 1: world when thou vouch safest assistance on this account God
- 21:29Speaker 1: sent me. Then I took birth and came into the
- 21:33Speaker 1: world as He spoke to me. So I speak unto men.
- 21:36Speaker 1: I bear no enmity to anyone. All who call me
- 21:39Speaker 1: the Supreme Being shall fall into the pit of hell.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Recognize me as God's servant. Only have no doubt whatever
- 21:47Speaker 1: of this. I am the slave of the Supreme Being
- 21:50Speaker 1: and have come to behold the wonders of the world.
- 21:52Speaker 1: I tell the world what God told me, and will
- 21:55Speaker 1: not remain silent through fear of mortals. As God spoke
- 22:00Speaker 1: to me, I speak, I pray no regard to any one. Besides,
- 22:04Speaker 1: I am satisfied with no religious garb. I sow the
- 22:07Speaker 1: seed of the invisible. I am not a worshiper of stones,
- 22:10Speaker 1: nor am I satisfied with any religious garb. I will
- 22:14Speaker 1: sing the name of the Infinite and obtain the Supreme Being.
- 22:18Speaker 1: I will not wear matted hair on my head, nor
- 22:21Speaker 1: will I put on earrings. I will pay no regard
- 22:24Speaker 1: to anyone but God. What God told me I will do.
- 22:27Speaker 1: I will repeat the one name, which will be everywhere profitable.
- 22:31Speaker 1: I will not repeat any other name, nor establish any
- 22:34Speaker 1: other God in my heart. I will meditate on the
- 22:37Speaker 1: name of the Endless One, and obtain the supreme light.
- 22:40Speaker 1: I am imbued with Thy name, O God, I am
- 22:42Speaker 1: not intoxicated with any other honor. I will meditate on
- 22:46Speaker 1: the Supreme and thus removed endless sins. I am enamored
- 22:50Speaker 1: of Thy form. No other gift hath charms for me.
- 22:53Speaker 1: I will repeat Thy name and avoid in sorrow and sin.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Have not approached those who have meditated on thy name.
- 23:00Speaker 1: They who meditate on anyone else shall die of arguments
- 23:05Speaker 1: and contentions. The Divine Guru sent me for religion's sake.
- 23:09Speaker 1: On this account, I have come into the world. Extend
- 23:12Speaker 1: the faith everywhere, seize and destroy the evil and the sinful.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Understand this, ye, holy men, in your souls, I assume
- 23:20Speaker 1: birth for the purpose of spreading the faith, saving the saints,
- 23:23Speaker 1: and extirpating all tyrants. All the first incarnations caused men
- 23:28Speaker 1: to repeat their names. They killed no one who had
- 23:31Speaker 1: offended against God, and they stroke out no path of
- 23:34Speaker 1: real religion. The gauss and prophets who existed left the
- 23:38Speaker 1: world talking of themselves. None of them recognized the Great
- 23:42Speaker 1: Being or knew anything of real religion. Nothing is to
- 23:45Speaker 1: be obtained by putting hopes in others. Put the hopes
- 23:48Speaker 1: of your hearts in the one God alone. Nothing is
- 23:52Speaker 1: obtained by hoping in others. Put the hopes of your
- 23:54Speaker 1: hearts in him. Some millions read the Purans together, how
- 24:01Speaker 1: many silly persons recite the Qur'an. But these books shall
- 24:05Speaker 1: be of no assistance at last, and shall save no
- 24:08Speaker 1: one from death's toils. Why not, o, brethren, repeat the
- 24:11Speaker 1: name of Him who will aid you at the last moment.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Consider spurious religion as superstition. No such things will avail you.
- 24:19Speaker 1: On this account. God created me, having communicated to meet
- 24:22Speaker 1: the secret he sent me into the world. I shall
- 24:25Speaker 1: proclaim to all men what he told me. I will
- 24:29Speaker 1: repeat God's name, and all my affairs shall prosper. I
- 24:33Speaker 1: will not close my eyes or do anything for show.
- 24:36Speaker 1: They who wear a religious garb are deemed not by
- 24:40Speaker 1: the saints of God. Understand this, all men, in your hearts,
- 24:44Speaker 1: that God is not obtained by hypocrisy. They who act
- 24:47Speaker 1: for the sake of display shall not obtain salvation in
- 24:50Speaker 1: the next world, And it is only for life their
- 24:53Speaker 1: affairs prosper Kings on seeing their acting worship them. But
- 24:58Speaker 1: God is not to be found by mummery. Yet everyone
- 25:01Speaker 1: wandeth about thus searching for him. He who keepeth his
- 25:04Speaker 1: heart in subjection recognizeth the supreme being. They who, by
- 25:10Speaker 1: wearing a religious garb, keep the people of the world
- 25:13Speaker 1: in subjection, shall at last be cut with the shears
- 25:16Speaker 1: of death and take up their abode in hell. They
- 25:20Speaker 1: who present appearances in the world experience extreme pleasure in
- 25:24Speaker 1: fleecing others spurious and not worth our Cowie is the
- 25:27Speaker 1: religion of those who practice suspension of breath by stopping
- 25:31Speaker 1: their noses. They who practice religion and the world shall
- 25:35Speaker 1: fall into the pit of hell. He who can in
- 25:37Speaker 1: no way subdue his heart shall not go to heaven.
- 25:40Speaker 1: By gesticulation. What God himself told me, I proclaim to
- 25:45Speaker 1: the world, they who meditate on him shall go to heaven.
- 25:48Speaker 1: At last, God and God's Servant are both one deem,
- 25:51Speaker 1: not that there is any difference between them. As waves
- 25:55Speaker 1: produced from water are again blended with it. God aineth
- 26:00Speaker 1: apart from those who indulge in wrangling and pride. He
- 26:03Speaker 1: is not found in the beds or the books of
- 26:06Speaker 1: the Mohammedans. Know this in your hearts, So saints of God.
- 26:10Speaker 1: They who practice hypocrisy by closing their eyes should be
- 26:13Speaker 1: treated as blind men, since the road is not seen
- 26:15Speaker 1: by closing one's eyes. How can such persons, my brethren,
- 26:20Speaker 1: meet the infinite? How far could anyone amplify this? Men
- 26:24Speaker 1: would grow weary trying to understand it. Though one had
- 26:27Speaker 1: a million tongues. Even then he would fail to recount
- 26:30Speaker 1: God's praises. Seven My father departed for the east and
- 26:36Speaker 1: bathed that various places of pilgrimage. When he arrived at
- 26:39Speaker 1: the Trebeni pri Yag, he passed his days in meritorious
- 26:44Speaker 1: works and alms. There was I conceived. I was born
- 26:47Speaker 1: in Patna city and afterwards taken to the Panjab, where
- 26:51Speaker 1: nurses of different kinds fondled me and tended my body
- 26:55Speaker 1: in every way. I received instruction in various forms. When
- 26:58Speaker 1: I arrived at the age to perform my religious duties,
- 27:02Speaker 1: my father departed to God's City. Eight. When I obtained sovereignty,
- 27:07Speaker 1: I promoted religion to the best of my power. I
- 27:10Speaker 1: hunted various sorts of game in the forest and killed bears,
- 27:14Speaker 1: nil gals and elks. I afterwards left that country and
- 27:17Speaker 1: proceeded to the city of Panta. I enjoyed myself on
- 27:21Speaker 1: the bank of the Khalindri Jamna and saw amusements of
- 27:25Speaker 1: every kind. There I selected and killed many lions and
- 27:29Speaker 1: slew many nil Ghaus and bears. Fatah Shah, who was
- 27:33Speaker 1: the king, became angry with me and came to blows
- 27:36Speaker 1: with me without cause. Here follow in the Vichitar Natak,
- 27:43Speaker 1: an account of the Battle of Bangani. The dispatch of
- 27:47Speaker 1: Mim Khan and Alif Khan to jam Nyu and Nadan,
- 27:51Speaker 1: respectively to collect revenue, the victory gained with the Guru's
- 27:55Speaker 1: assistance by Rajab Bim Chand over Alif Khan. The dispatch
- 27:59Speaker 1: of General de Lavoire Khan against the hill chiefs and
- 28:03Speaker 1: of his son against the Guru, who was left unmolested
- 28:05Speaker 1: owing to the son's flight. The dispatch of Dilawar Khan
- 28:10Speaker 1: of Hussein Khan to reduce the Guru to subjection, the
- 28:13Speaker 1: failure of Hussein Khan to carry out his orders, his
- 28:17Speaker 1: attack on the weaker of the hill chiefs, the victory
- 28:20Speaker 1: of go Paul, king of Gulur, and the Ram Singh
- 28:24Speaker 1: King of Ja Swan over HiMAT one of Houssein Khan's officers,
- 28:29Speaker 1: whom they put to death. The single handed combat between
- 28:32Speaker 1: Raja Ram Singh and jujj Singh Rajah of Chander, in
- 28:37Speaker 1: which the latter was slain. The dispatch by Aurang Zab
- 28:41Speaker 1: of his son to the Panjab, where the Massans, fearing
- 28:45Speaker 1: that he would attack the Guru, deserted him and fled
- 28:48Speaker 1: to the highest mountains. The dispatch of an officer named
- 28:52Speaker 1: Mirzab begged to support the young prince, and the subsequent
- 28:56Speaker 1: expedition of an army under four other officers, who believing
- 28:59Speaker 1: that Massans were men of wealth, destroyed their houses and
- 29:03Speaker 1: plundered their property. All these details have been given at
- 29:06Speaker 1: length in the Guru's life. Nine. They who turn away
- 29:13Speaker 1: from the Guru shall have their houses demolished in this
- 29:16Speaker 1: world and the next. They shall be laughed at here,
- 29:19Speaker 1: have no dwelling hereafter, and be debarred from all Hope.
- 29:23Speaker 1: Sorrow and hunger shall ever attach to those who forsake
- 29:26Speaker 1: the service of the Saint. Nothing that they do shall
- 29:29Speaker 1: succeed in this world, and at last they shall fall
- 29:32Speaker 1: into the pit of hell. They who turn and fly
- 29:35Speaker 1: from the Guru's feet shall have their faces blackened in
- 29:38Speaker 1: this world and the next. The successors of both Babat
- 29:43Speaker 1: Nanak and Babar were created by God himself, recognized the
- 29:47Speaker 1: former as a spiritual and the latter as a temporal king.
- 29:51Speaker 1: Babar's successors shall seize and plunder of those who deliver
- 29:55Speaker 1: not the Guru's money. They who love the Gur's feet
- 29:58Speaker 1: shall never see misery. Wealth and supernatural power shall enter
- 30:03Speaker 1: the houses and sin and suffering, not touch even their shadows.
- 30:07Speaker 1: What is a wretched enemy? To him whom the Friend preserveth?
- 30:11Speaker 1: An enemy could not even touch his shadow? The fool
- 30:14Speaker 1: would lose his labor. Who can meditate anything against those
- 30:18Speaker 1: who enter the saint's protection? God preserveth them, as the
- 30:22Speaker 1: tongue is preserved among the teeth. He destroyeth their enemies
- 30:25Speaker 1: and allayeth their suffering. What can a miserable enemy do
- 30:29Speaker 1: to him whom the Friend preserveth He cannot even touches shadow.
- 30:34Speaker 1: The fool shall pass away ten all death saveth all
- 30:40Speaker 1: his saints. He hath tortured and destroyed all sinners. He
- 30:43Speaker 1: has shown wonderful things to his saints and saved them
- 30:46Speaker 1: from all misery. Knowing me to be his slave, he
- 30:49Speaker 1: hath aided me. He hath given me his hand and
- 30:53Speaker 1: saved me. Ganne pra Bode Neither the vEDS nor Brahma
- 31:00Speaker 1: knoweth God's secret. Neither Bias, nor his father Parasar, nor
- 31:06Speaker 1: his son shuk Dev, nor the sons of Brahma nor
- 31:10Speaker 1: Sheath knoweth God's limit. All four sons of Brama no
- 31:14Speaker 1: not God's time. Locks of lock shmize, locks of vish news.
- 31:19Speaker 1: And many Christians declare him indescribable. Thou art incomprehensible, O God,
- 31:26Speaker 1: and fearless. Thou art most powerful, the creator of sea
- 31:30Speaker 1: and land. Thou art the unshaken, endless, unequaled, immeasurable Lord,
- 31:36Speaker 1: pure one. I seek thy protection. In the compositions of
