- 0:00All right, so I got two very special
- 0:01guests here today. One has been on the
- 0:04podcast before. Say hello to Jyn. You
- 0:06guys remember him? The guy who has
- 0:07worked with Todd McFarland. Say hi, Jyn.
- 0:10>> Hey, everybody.
- 0:11>> And of course, I have a brand new
- 0:13member, first time on the podcast, and
- 0:15hopefully of course he'll get on here
- 0:17again, DJ Link. What's going on,
- 0:18brother? How are you?
- 0:19>> What's up? What's up, man? Thank you for
- 0:20uh having me.
- 0:21>> Yeah. So today I want to about talk
- 0:24about something that like I think a lot
- 0:25of people who grew up like we grew up in
- 0:28the 1980s some of your favorite movies.
- 0:30And to me like as I was thinking about
- 0:32doing this podcast I'm like I remember
- 0:34so many great movies growing up as a
- 0:35kid. Some I'm going to mention here
- 0:37today. Some I probably won't get to but
- 0:39uh I'm going to let one of you guys
- 0:42start off. So let's start with you since
- 0:44you're the the honorary guest here today
- 0:46DJ. Give me a movie from the 80s that
- 0:48you absolutely loved and talk a little
- 0:50about it. what you loved about it, all
- 0:52that good stuff.
- 0:53>> Yeah, thank you. My number one, and this
- 0:55is my favorite movie of all time. I had
- 0:58the VHS back in the day. Well, actually
- 1:00before the VHS, we had it recorded
- 1:02somehow bootleg back in the 80s. Yo,
- 1:05it's my favorite movie of all time, and
- 1:07that's Predator, the original Predator.
- 1:09Predator one with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
- 1:12And he's for me, this movie is
- 1:15absolutely perfect from an action
- 1:16perspective. You're one ugly
- 1:20[ __ ]
- 1:22>> From a sci-fi perspective, from a score
- 1:25perspective,
- 1:26>> it from a machismo perspective because
- 1:29it is the '8s guys with muscles for me
- 1:31is just a perfect movie, man. And uh my
- 1:33mother introduced me to Predator and I
- 1:37used to run this VHS tape back in the
- 1:39day.
- 1:39>> That's an awesome mom.
- 1:40>> I was gonna say, what the hell, man?
- 1:43because all my lists, so in formulating
- 1:45my list, these are all movies that I had
- 1:47the VHS of. It wasn't things that, you
- 1:50know, '8s movies that I didn't have and
- 1:51I wind up seeing as an adult or a
- 1:53teenager. And all of these movies I
- 1:55attribute to my mom, spending time with
- 1:57my mom's, and she will put me on to like
- 1:59some dope ass movies.
- 2:00>> That's awesome. Like, like Jyn said,
- 2:02man, that is freaking crazy. Your mom
- 2:04recommends a Predator. I mean, my mom
- 2:06like recommended like the Wizard of Oz.
- 2:08You get the Predator. That's awesome.
- 2:10See, like I'm taking a cue from your mom
- 2:12because my kid uh my oldest, she's uh
- 2:14just turned 13. They keep telling her,
- 2:16"I'll watch John Wick with you. Watch
- 2:17John Wick with me."
- 2:19>> So, I'm trying to turn her on to some of
- 2:20this stuff.
- 2:20>> Yeah, do it.
- 2:22>> I think Arnold was like the
- 2:23quintessential, you know, 80s action
- 2:25hero, right? He did a lot of movies. Not
- 2:27only did he do that, what else did he
- 2:29do? Conan. I'm definitely drawing a
- 2:31blank. He did a million more.
- 2:32>> Oh, yeah. Bladeunner.
- 2:34>> Commando.
- 2:34>> Not Bladeunner. Um, I forgot about that.
- 2:37Yeah,
- 2:37>> Commando. Yeah, I think his um his
- 2:40acting in Predator is probably his best
- 2:42acting of his career. A lot of people
- 2:44will attribute Terminator or Terminator
- 2:462. He's just playing a robot, right? So,
- 2:49in this one, he's actually acting and
- 2:51you can see like his intensity, the
- 2:53despair, the dread like on his face is
- 2:56just he does his best acting job in this
- 2:58movie for me by far.
- 3:00>> Yeah, I I agree. Predator wasn't on my
- 3:02list, but I got to tell you, if you go
- 3:04back and talk about action movies from
- 3:06the 1980s, it's definitely up there. It
- 3:07was probably top five of all time.
- 3:10[Applause]
- 3:11>> All right, Jen, you're up. Give us a
- 3:13movie off your list from the 1980s that
- 3:15you loved.
- 3:16>> All right. Uh, so this isn't in any
- 3:18particular order, but uh, one that I
- 3:19know is probably on one of your lists.
- 3:21Back to the Future. Uh, pick one or two.
- 3:24Either one.
- 3:25>> Hey, doc, we better back up. We don't
- 3:26have enough roads to get up to 88.
- 3:28>> Roads. Where we're going, we don't need
- 3:31roads.
- 3:32>> But for me, uh, I think I watched part
- 3:35two and then I watched part one.
- 3:37Um, I think that's how it went, but part
- 3:40two did it for me. Um,
- 3:42>> the hoverboard.
- 3:43>> The hoverboard being in the future. The
- 3:46microwave where you can cook a meal in
- 3:4930 seconds. Oh my god, do we have
- 3:52something like that these days?
- 3:54>> Kind of. Sort of.
- 3:56>> Yeah, it was just awesome. Um, part two
- 3:58was so fun. Um, you know, there was
- 4:01something about that uh creating a new
- 4:04movie franchise, right? and one that's
- 4:06so beloved and just hits you at at your
- 4:08core. Uh the storytelling, the
- 4:11characters, the acting, I mean, uh
- 4:13Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, it
- 4:15it was the perfect duo um for that type
- 4:18of movie and it just worked so well. And
- 4:20the concept, you know, we always we
- 4:23always knew there was the concept of
- 4:25traveling backwards or forward in time,
- 4:27but man, they made it so fun. and Back
- 4:30to the Future has to be one of my top
- 4:32franchise uh movies of all time. But um
- 4:36yeah, part two was the one that really
- 4:38stands out for me.
- 4:39>> See, for me, I I remember going to see
- 4:41Back to the Future 1 in 1985. And I
- 4:44remember we had such a long wait before
- 4:47two came out that like we thought it was
- 4:48like a myth. We didn't think it was
- 4:50going to happen. We thought it was like
- 4:51hearsay. It was all people making stuff
- 4:52up. But Back to the Future one was to me
- 4:55it was on my list. There's no question.
- 4:56It was at the top of my list because not
- 4:58only did it involve time travel, which
- 5:00is like a big thing in the '8s, like
- 5:02people wanted to like I've always felt
- 5:03like it was a big topic. Could we go
- 5:05forward in time to the future, could we
- 5:07go back in time to change things? And
- 5:08they did it such an iconic way of course
- 5:10with the the8s car of the Delorean and
- 5:12of course, you know, the characters of
- 5:14Doc and and Marty and and all the things
- 5:16that went on during this movie. It's
- 5:17still like it was on last night. I'm not
- 5:19going to lie to you as we're doing the
- 5:20show. It was on a channel last night and
- 5:22I was watching. I'm like, "Oh god, how
- 5:24good was this movie?" from the the
- 5:25music, power of love, freaking back in
- 5:28time, like it was just so awesome. Then
- 5:31when we did get to two after that long
- 5:32break, it was like you got the
- 5:34hoverboard. I remember hearing the story
- 5:36about Robert Semechus, who's the
- 5:37director of Back to the Future, saying
- 5:39that he made a joke somewhere that like
- 5:41the hoverboards are real and he got a
- 5:43hold of them and put them in the movie.
- 5:44And I went like nuts trying to find
- 5:46these things later to find out that he
- 5:48was bullshitting about the whole thing.
- 5:51>> That's great marketing. Awesome
- 5:53marketing, man. Robert Smeckis was such
- 5:55a great filmmaker.
- 5:56>> Yeah, I'm a fan of the Back to the
- 5:58Future movies. Now, as we go through my
- 6:01list, you would see like I I was raised
- 6:03with violence and like
- 6:07and music. So, there's a lot of on my
- 6:09list that's just going to be down that
- 6:10route. I saw Back to the Future, not as
- 6:13a kid, though. So, I saw it when uh I
- 6:15was in my early 20s for the first time.
- 6:17So, there's a lot of things that I went
- 6:19back and I saw again for the first time.
- 6:20And there's probably going to be a lot
- 6:21of movies on your list that I'm just
- 6:23going to be like.
- 6:25Well, you know what was it's
- 6:27interesting, right? Because DJ Lynx,
- 6:29you've got you've got this really unique
- 6:31take on it because if you watch that
- 6:32movie as a grown-up, uh I'd be curious
- 6:36to know how it affected you, right? Cuz
- 6:38basically part two, living in 2025, part
- 6:43two, we've got a lot of that stuff,
- 6:44right? Minus the hoverboard and flying
- 6:46cars, but we have a lot of that tech.
- 6:48Even Jaws coming out with a hologram.
- 6:49You can do that with drones, you know,
- 6:52Pepper's Ghost or something.
- 6:53>> But how what do you think of that movie,
- 6:56you know, Lawrence and I watching this
- 6:58as kids? We're like, whoa, this could be
- 7:00the future. And it it, you know, what's
- 7:02that what's that core a core memory from
- 7:04inside out, you know, it imprinted.
- 7:06>> Yeah. I think it would have had a better
- 7:09effect on me or a greater effect on me
- 7:10had I watched it as a kid. So, in
- 7:12watching it like we went through like a
- 7:14'8s marathon like one weekend, my wife
- 7:16and I. So, it was just like, "All right,
- 7:17let's throw this on and let's just move
- 7:19to the next one." Like, I like Back to
- 7:21the Future. Um, I I like one and two,
- 7:24three, not so much, but it's not a
- 7:26franchise that I love. And I think
- 7:27that's because I watched it with adult
- 7:29eyes and not like that the wonder of
- 7:31like
- 7:32>> Yeah.
- 7:33>> Yeah. Well, because it's interesting,
- 7:34right? Because people say the same thing
- 7:35about Star Wars. So, episode four, you I
- 7:37try to show my kids that, all three of
- 7:39my kids, and they could care less. They
- 7:41get bored within the first 20 minutes.
- 7:43Um, so it's just different, right?
- 7:45>> Yeah.
- 7:46I think you just hit it right on the
- 7:47head. I think I think if you grow up
- 7:49with it and you see it as a kid, you you
- 7:51you end up having a fondness for it. If
- 7:53you just see it later on, it becomes
- 7:55like I don't really have that attachment
- 7:57as I forever would if I grew up with it.
- 7:59I think that that that goes into comics,
- 8:00right? We're in the comic space and I
- 8:02feel like if you had something when you
- 8:03were a kid, you it, you know, always
- 8:05goes back to that nostalgia where if you
- 8:06just get it as an adult doesn't have
- 8:08that kind of same feel for it, right?
- 8:10>> 100%.
- 8:11>> Nostalgia is a hell of a drug, man.
- 8:13>> Yeah. TWW, you're going to be glad that
- 8:15you came to me with this. Yes, because
- 8:17with the right angles, man, we're going
- 8:19to turn this into something
- 8:22monstrous.
- 8:23>> All right, so my turn. And I'm sticking
- 8:25with Michael J. Fox. Teen Wolf. You guys
- 8:28ever see that one?
- 8:29>> Oh, yeah. Hell yeah. Teen Wolf is
- 8:31awesome.
- 8:32So to to me like the fact that a kid
- 8:36around my age or when I was I was
- 8:38probably younger, but someone around my
- 8:40age could turn into a wolf, go to
- 8:42school, play basketball, and do all the
- 8:45freaking crazy things he could do. And
- 8:46Michael J. Fox was super hot, not only
- 8:48with Back to the Future, with Family
- 8:50Ties, he was on the TV show, so everyone
- 8:52knew who he was. and just seeing him do
- 8:54all these things as a freaking wolf. I
- 8:56think I I don't know. Like you're like
- 8:58your mom got you into that, you know, I
- 9:00don't want to say the horror stuff with
- 9:01Predator, but I'm sure the violent stuff
- 9:02I was into like all like Freddy Krueger,
- 9:06Vangoria, Jason, all that stuff growing
- 9:08up as a kid, the freaking Pin Head. So
- 9:10like seeing a kid turn into a wolf was
- 9:12right up my alley. And not only that, it
- 9:14had incredible, you know, comedic
- 9:16elements to it. So I was like one of
- 9:18those movies that I I saw multiple times
- 9:20in the theater. Obviously when he came
- 9:21on TV I had to watch it. So Michael J.
- 9:23Fox was like almost like the king of the
- 9:251980s and Teen Wolf was one of them I
- 9:27was in love with as a kid.
- 9:29>> Yeah. Like I saw Teen I still remember
- 9:31seeing it at my friend's house when it
- 9:33came out on VHS and we they was like,
- 9:35"Hey, we're going to throw on this movie
- 9:36and it's not scary cuz I at the time
- 9:38like I I like action movies but not
- 9:40really like horror movies and once they
- 9:41said wolf." So anyway, they threw it on
- 9:43and I was just like, "Oh, this movie is
- 9:45super cool." And that's one of the ones
- 9:47that I enjoyed with like those childlike
- 9:49eyes like man I wish I could turn into a
- 9:51wolf and play basketball and do this and
- 9:52do that. Um so yeah it was like it was
- 9:56awesome. Like it's an awesome like
- 9:59eight n 10year-old like that like just
- 10:01to give them like hope like it's not
- 10:03it's not all bad you know you could be a
- 10:04wolf and still get busy.
- 10:06>> Yeah he's getting he got girls too as a
- 10:08wolf. That was that was the main thing I
- 10:09took away from that. He was like a dork
- 10:11and then all of a sudden he turns into a
- 10:13wolf and he and he's pulling chicks. Oh,
- 10:16that's why I don't shave to this day.
- 10:21>> Yeah, man. Like, Teen Wolf, I I think
- 10:24one of the great things about that was,
- 10:26you know, I was I was kind of an
- 10:28introvert. I was quite a bit an
- 10:31introvert when I was a kid. And so, I
- 10:33always love those movies about the nerd,
- 10:34the quiet guy, you know, the u that's
- 10:37why movies like Revenge of the Nerds was
- 10:39that hit me pretty hard, too. It was
- 10:41like, okay, that's really cool. you
- 10:42know, they can fight back or they can
- 10:45actually wind up being, you know, one of
- 10:46the cool kids. But Teen Wolf, man, yeah,
- 10:49talk about an awesome concept. And
- 10:50again, we're talking about these movies,
- 10:52right? Where these days, if they
- 10:55attempted anything like that, it
- 10:57wouldn't get green lit, right? It's got
- 10:59to be a blockbuster. And it's just so
- 11:00unfortunate because were any of these
- 11:03movies we're talking about right now
- 11:04perfect? Predator, yes. Uh, Back to the
- 11:07Future, really close. But then some of
- 11:09the other movies on my list, no way
- 11:11they're even close to being perfect
- 11:12movies, but they're just so damn fun,
- 11:14right? And they understand again, they
- 11:16they understood how to tell that story,
- 11:18the hero's journey, right?
- 11:20>> Uh that one trope that works time and
- 11:22time again. And yeah, Teen Wolf was
- 11:24another one where I think the first time
- 11:27that he transformed, I don't know what
- 11:29it was, but I didn't really like horror
- 11:31movies too much as a kid, but that
- 11:32creeped me out. But it creeped me out in
- 11:34a way where like, all right, I'll keep
- 11:35watching, but
- 11:37>> I don't know.
- 11:38I It's funny you mentioned that because
- 11:40I that to me is one of my favorite parts
- 11:42in that movie where you you see him turn
- 11:44into the wolf like the first time
- 11:45because I actually did a pretty good job
- 11:47because they show like hair growing in
- 11:48certain spots but you don't get to see
- 11:50everything and then all of a sudden you
- 11:51see him turn and uncover his face and
- 11:53he's the wolf. So for the 80s I thought
- 11:54they did a pretty good job.
- 11:56>> Does it have to be human?
- 11:59>> Does it have to be mine?
- 12:01>> All right, DJ Links, give us your next
- 12:02one. All right, so my next one and I'm
- 12:05laughing over here. I said about the
- 12:06violent stuff like that. I'm going to
- 12:08take a detour. Number two on my list,
- 12:10and these are in no particular order.
- 12:11Uh, Little Shop of Horrors.
- 12:15>> Little Shop of Horrors. It is I know
- 12:18this movie word for word from beginning
- 12:20to end.
- 12:21>> Oh, no way.
- 12:22>> The entire on the 23rd day. The entire
- 12:24movie. Um, it was around like I don't
- 12:27know the VC the the tape was there. So,
- 12:30I plugged it in. This is one that I
- 12:31found on my own. And that's the first
- 12:33time I've ever seen a musical. I did not
- 12:36know musicals existed at that time. I
- 12:38hadn't seen Greece or anything like
- 12:39that. So, this was super like crazy for
- 12:42me, especially that I loved music. So,
- 12:44in those days, that's when like, you
- 12:45know, hip-hop and stuff was like popping
- 12:47and and things like that. So, I was like
- 12:49super into that. So, to see a movie like
- 12:52with musical elements, it just blew my
- 12:54mind. And the music was actually really
- 12:56really good. And I love the story about
- 12:58the the nerd overcoming the like the the
- 13:01bully and the dentist or whatever and
- 13:03then finally getting the chick Audrey. I
- 13:06just thought it it was super cool, man.
- 13:07And I' I've seen it on Broadway like
- 13:09twice. Um and it's just a fantastic like
- 13:12it's a feel-good movie. A nice feelood
- 13:14movie.
- 13:14>> I am so shocked to hear you say that
- 13:16movie. I'm not going to lie to you, bro.
- 13:18I you go from Predator to Little Shop of
- 13:20Ours. I blow my mind. But I agree that
- 13:23it was such a great movie. Rick Moran is
- 13:24another guy from the 80s and he's on
- 13:26another one of my movies. I don't want
- 13:28to say that yet, but like he was another
- 13:30guy who like straight out of the 80s,
- 13:32you know, I know he was in Ghostbusters,
- 13:34he was in Space Balls, he was in um
- 13:36Honey I Shrunk the Kids, just synonymous
- 13:38with the 80s. And and I agree, man, that
- 13:40movie was fantastic. And I was I was
- 13:42never like a musical guy hearing like
- 13:44the music and and whatever. I was never
- 13:45that guy.
- 13:46>> But that movie, you're right, from start
- 13:48to finish, it's really really enjoyable.
- 13:51Mhm.
- 13:53>> I I'm going to tell you a secret. I've
- 13:55never seen the movie.
- 13:56>> I figure there's going to be a couple
- 13:58that I'm going to say and that someone
- 13:59else gonna say that they've never seen
- 14:01it. So that's okay, man. Now you have
- 14:02something to do, right? You're going to
- 14:04go next week, go buy it. Go buy it
- 14:07either DVD if you can find those anymore
- 14:08or try to find it on demand somewhere
- 14:10and watch it cuz it is really
- 14:11entertaining.
- 14:12>> Yeah, cuz that was one movie where I saw
- 14:14posters everywhere. Uh, and I I don't
- 14:17know, maybe it was just the kids that
- 14:18were at my school that just weren't
- 14:19talking about it, but I always knew it
- 14:22existed. I knew it was a musical and I
- 14:24knew it was fun, but yeah, I'm going to
- 14:26have to check this out now.
- 14:28>> Yeah, 100%.
- 14:29>> It's It's funny. Like the dialogue is
- 14:31like sharp and like snappy. The songs
- 14:33are pretty cool. The lyrics are deep.
- 14:35>> It's uh it's it's really good. I I want
- 14:37to
- 14:37>> Oh, we need to go do karaoke and do
- 14:39Suddenly Semour. I I'll be Audrey.
- 14:42>> No one No one needs to hear me sing. No
- 14:43one wants to hear me sing. I'll put it
- 14:45that way, but I would definitely do it.
- 14:47Just be better be drunk as f.
- 14:50[Applause]
- 14:51>> All right, next up. I You guys might not
- 14:54have heard about this one, but uh Cloak
- 14:56and Dagger from 1984.
- 14:59>> Did you guys ever watch that?
- 15:00>> I have not. So, give I mean you DJ,
- 15:03you've heard of that one?
- 15:04>> I've I've se I've seen it, but it was a
- 15:07TV movie, right? It wasn't a movie that
- 15:09was released in the theaters.
- 15:10>> No, it was in the theaters, but I
- 15:12watched it on TV. So this thing would
- 15:14play once. It felt like once a month uh
- 15:16on TV. So I I that's probably why you
- 15:19think it's a TV movie, but this thing's
- 15:21from like 84 85 around there. So, it's
- 15:25about this kid. His dad's uh a
- 15:28businessman and always away. And so, you
- 15:30know, he doesn't have dad around. And
- 15:32so, he kind of gets lost in this fantasy
- 15:34where this FBI agent gets shot and
- 15:36killed. And it happens in front of
- 15:38Davey, the main character.
- 15:40>> And he hands him this Atari cartridge,
- 15:42right, that says cloak and dagger on it.
- 15:44And so on that cartridge are all these
- 15:46crazy secrets, government secrets,
- 15:48right, that could ruin blow up the world
- 15:50and whatever cause nuclear holocaust.
- 15:53And throughout the course of the movie,
- 15:55he meets this this spy. His name is Jack
- 15:58Flack, right? The thing was he looks
- 16:00just like his dad. So, he projects his
- 16:03dad onto this heroic character. And so,
- 16:05it's about this little kid, 9 10 years
- 16:07old at most with this spy, this master
- 16:11spy, and they're going off trying to
- 16:13save the world. And so, that movie for
- 16:15me hit home uh pretty hard, right? cuz
- 16:20it was a kid around my age going off
- 16:22saving the world. He had this Atari
- 16:25cartridge and I love playing Atari back
- 16:27then, right? And so, uh, I think one of
- 16:30the great things about this movie was,
- 16:32uh, at the end of the, you know, the end
- 16:33of the movie, I don't want to, you guys
- 16:35don't mind if I spoil it. Spoiler alley,
- 16:40but go ahead.
- 16:41>> Oh, yeah. And so, it turns out, you
- 16:43know, so the dad comes and saves the kid
- 16:45and the kid's in real trouble, right?
- 16:46So, that's the thing. And so he goes on
- 16:48this adventure and and again there's
- 16:51nothing really overly complicated about
- 16:52this movie. It's the hero's journey
- 16:54again. And it was just about this kid
- 16:57who
- 16:58missed dad uh projected his dad onto
- 17:01this hero and they go off on this
- 17:02adventure together. And I always just
- 17:04thought that was awesome, right? Cuz my
- 17:06dad was kind of the same. My dad always
- 17:07tried his best um but he was busy
- 17:09working, right? And so I would put
- 17:11myself in the position of him like, "Oh
- 17:12yeah, if I went with my dad on this and
- 17:14this and this." Yeah, there was um there
- 17:16was an emotional tie for me there and
- 17:18that's one that stuck with me and it's
- 17:20real obscure movie that I know not a lot
- 17:22of people, you know, have watched, but
- 17:23yeah, definitely put on your watch list
- 17:26here.
- 17:32>> All right, my turn again. And I'm going
- 17:33with the classic, The Goonies.
- 17:35>> For me, like this is the this is like
- 17:37the ultimate adventure movie if you're a
- 17:39kid. I think every kid, especially if
- 17:40you're a guy, right? If you're a guy,
- 17:42you you wanted to go on an adventure. It
- 17:45was your dream to find like a treasure
- 17:47map and then go ahead with your friends
- 17:49to go ahead and and and find this
- 17:51treasure. I feel like that's every '8s
- 17:52kid's dream. And the Goonies just, you
- 17:55know, it just went up on the screen and
- 17:57every character in that movie was
- 17:59phenomenal. From Bran, the older
- 18:01brother, from Mikey, the younger brother
- 18:03with asthma, to Data, the tech guy, to
- 18:05Mouth, the, you know, the arrogant kid,
- 18:07and of course, Chunk was my favorite. do
- 18:10the truffle shuffle. And then of course
- 18:11you had you had the girls and and you
- 18:14had sloth and you had the you know the
- 18:16villains the the fatellis and you had
- 18:18pirate ship. Like who didn't like a
- 18:19pirate ship when you were growing up as
- 18:21a kid? So to me the Goonies is one I
- 18:23think a lot of people are going to
- 18:24recognize if they're listening to this
- 18:25podcast as like one of their favorite
- 18:26movies as a kid.
- 18:28>> Oh yeah. Come on man. Like Goonies came
- 18:31out after Raiders, right? Was it between
- 18:33Raiders and Temple? I think but
- 18:36>> yeah, you had that bridge between those
- 18:38two movies and Goonies was just it was
- 18:40perfectly timed. That movie again as far
- 18:44as like kids adventure, Stranger Things
- 18:46or whatever else they were trying to re
- 18:48remake and tap into nostalgia. Goonies
- 18:50was it um ultimate kids adventure action
- 18:53adventure movie.
- 18:55>> Yeah, it's it's it's perfection. It's
- 18:57not on my list, but it would have been
- 18:58on my list if uh you know we were
- 19:00allotted eight choices.
- 19:02It's my It's my wife's favorite movie
- 19:05and we legit watch it like maybe once
- 19:08every three months.
- 19:10>> That's awesome.
- 19:11>> Yeah, we w we watch it like that once
- 19:13every three months and it's like you
- 19:15guys said the quintessential like kids
- 19:17adventure movie. Like they struck gold
- 19:19with that and that hasn't been able to
- 19:21be replicated in any other kids movie
- 19:23since. Maybe Super Eight had a little
- 19:25bit of that magic.
- 19:26>> Oh yeah. Yeah.
- 19:27>> Yeah. But the the Goonies is it's it's
- 19:29it like it's its own thing and it's just
- 19:31beautiful.
- 19:32>> I heard they're trying to to come out
- 19:33with another one. I I you know, same
- 19:35same cast except except as as older
- 19:38adults. I hope they do it because I feel
- 19:40like everybody would go see that, right?
- 19:41And I tried to get I tried to get my
- 19:43kids to watch The Goonies when they were
- 19:44younger. They wanted to know part of it.
- 19:45I I don't I couldn't understand that.
- 19:47>> Really? What So what was it about the
- 19:49movie that you think that they weren't
- 19:50they weren't drawn to?
- 19:51>> I don't They just don't sit like for
- 19:53movies. My My youngest will go to like
- 19:55Marvel movies because he's into
- 19:56Spider-Man. is into the MCU, but
- 19:58anything outside of that, like believe
- 19:59it or not, you know the movie National
- 20:01Treasure, not an '8s movie, Nicholas
- 20:02Cage, he actually sat and watched that
- 20:04was like, "Wow, that was awesome." But
- 20:07movies like The Goonies, he won't sit
- 20:09and watch it. I don't understand.
- 20:10>> Well, the Goonies was a slower burn,
- 20:12right? So again, when we talk about
- 20:13nostalgia and what we were familiar with
- 20:15as kids, movies could take time to tell
- 20:18the story over you 90 minutes, 100
- 20:21minutes, whatever it was, cuz we'd sit
- 20:23there for 10, 15 minutes just watching
- 20:25the setup. Uh cuz we had nothing else to
- 20:27do. What are we going to do? We had no
- 20:28smartphones or tablets and computers to
- 20:31get busy with.
- 20:33>> All right, Lynx, you're up next, man.
- 20:35What's your next one from the 80s that
- 20:36we would love? Yeah. So, this one is is
- 20:40a movie that I hold near and dear to my
- 20:42heart. It's probably one of the only
- 20:44emotional movies on this list. Every
- 20:46time I watch it, brings a tear to my
- 20:48eye. And that's Maniac Cop. Maniac Cop.
- 20:52The greatest slasher movie that no one's
- 20:55ever heard of.
- 20:55>> Maniac Cop. Hold on. I've never seen
- 20:58that. Never seen it.
- 20:59>> You've never seen Maniac Cop, sir. Wow.
- 21:02>> Tell us tell us what makes this thing so
- 21:03awesome.
- 21:04>> I'm just going to blow this whole movie
- 21:05up. So, it's a slasher film, but it's uh
- 21:08it's probably and it's it's heralded.
- 21:11This is not just me talking. Other
- 21:12people are saying this as well. So, it's
- 21:14probably like the greatest be movie of
- 21:16all time. So, it's basically a killer
- 21:18cop going around killing people
- 21:21and it's phenomenal. But the thing is
- 21:24like he was a so he was a cop on the
- 21:26force. His name is Matt Cordell. He was
- 21:28like an old school cop like you know,
- 21:30technobs.
- 21:32and he wind up going to jail for like
- 21:35excessive force. So he he did it one too
- 21:37many times. So they put him in jail and
- 21:40then the uh criminals that he put in
- 21:42there winded up they ended up attacking
- 21:45him and leaving him for dead. But then
- 21:48the like the guy in the morg brings him
- 21:49back or whatever the case is and then he
- 21:51goes out and he's he's killing all these
- 21:54people uh for cause and some for not.
- 21:58It's a it's a funny movie. Bruce
- 22:00Campbell is in it. So, it's the the
- 22:01first movie and I and it might be the
- 22:04>> I'm wrong in saying that, but Bruce
- 22:05Campbell is in it and he doesn't have
- 22:07any creative input into the movie,
- 22:09right? So, he had creative input with
- 22:11Evil Dead. He helped write it with Sam
- 22:12Ramy and stuff like that. And he
- 22:14actually hates this movie, but he's
- 22:16great in this movie because it's not the
- 22:18typical slapstick funny um Bruce
- 22:20Campbell. He's actually playing um his
- 22:23role straight and it's it's amazing for
- 22:26a B horror movie. I'm surprised like
- 22:28this doesn't get as much love as I I
- 22:31hope it would. Matt Cordell, the Maniac
- 22:33Cop.
- 22:34>> I got I mean, we we got two movies so
- 22:36far that I haven't seen. This is is also
- 22:38great because that's part of the reason
- 22:39why I wanted to do this. I wanted to see
- 22:41if someone else would give me something
- 22:42that I've never seen before. So, so far
- 22:43I have two. That's awesome.
- 22:45>> Yeah,
- 22:46>> it's a trilogy, by the way. So,
- 22:47Lawrence, if you're going to watch this,
- 22:48man, set aside some time.
- 22:50>> You saw that? You saw it? Maniac.
- 22:51>> No, no, no. I'm I'm looking it up right
- 22:53now. I want to check it out. So, forget
- 22:55about forget about No, it's it's there's
- 22:57only two of them. There's only two.
- 23:00>> So, part two, it's like a um one of like
- 23:03how Halloween one and two, like
- 23:04Halloween 2 literally picks up right
- 23:06after Halloween one, the sound the same
- 23:08night. That's how Maniac Cop 2 is. It
- 23:10literally picks up um at the same point
- 23:12uh that part one ends. Part three is an
- 23:15abomination. It is like horrible. Like
- 23:18horrible, horrible. Quick cash grab. But
- 23:20yeah, I highly recommend this movie. And
- 23:22I'm not just saying it for me. Like it
- 23:24it is a good good movie. So everybody
- 23:27that I tell I cuz they hear Maniac Cop.
- 23:29Yo, that [ __ ] sounds trash. But then
- 23:31they watch it and they'll be like, "Yo,
- 23:33that movie was legit." Like it legit is
- 23:36like awesome.
- 23:37>> Go back to then. When? Now. Now. Now. I
- 23:40can't. Why? We missed it when just now.
- 23:42>> All right. Here's one that uh Oh my god.
- 23:45We talked about um Little Shop of
- 23:47Horrors and DJ Links. You've memorized
- 23:48it. Uh same for me with this movie.
- 23:51Space balls. M that was on my list.
- 23:54>> Never heard of it. Oh, was it really?
- 23:56>> Yep.
- 23:57>> So, I don't get too excited over movies,
- 23:59but when I saw the announcement for
- 24:01Space Balls 2 finally after what, 30
- 24:04some odd years, um, oh my god,
- 24:08what can I say about Space Balls that
- 24:11everyone who's seen this movie hasn't
- 24:13already said. Um, oh my god, the humor
- 24:16was so stupidly good.
- 24:18>> Yes. um that 80s comedy, Rick Morannis,
- 24:22you know, the Chvy Chase, uh Rodney
- 24:24Dangerfield, that that era of comedy, it
- 24:26just works so well. And Mel Brooks
- 24:28brought them all together and made one
- 24:31of the best comedies still to this day.
- 24:34Like when you watch it now, yeah, it's
- 24:35goofy. It's corny, but oh my god, it's
- 24:38it's so stupid. It's good. So, I'm
- 24:40assuming like Maniac Cop is maybe such a
- 24:44I don't know if it's bad, but it's a
- 24:46such a great B movie, right?
- 24:48movie of all time.
- 24:52>> Yeah. So, come on, man. And on top of
- 24:54the the fact that it's just a Star Wars
- 24:56spoof and they did it so well. Uh, and
- 24:59they ripped on it so well.
- 25:01>> I mean, just look at the names. Lord
- 25:03Helmet, Lonear,
- 25:06Princess Vespa,
- 25:08uh,
- 25:09>> Barf. Yeah. I mean, just unreal stuff.
- 25:12And Mel Brooks is so underrated because
- 25:13I his uh one of his movies is my
- 25:16all-time favorite movie and that's Young
- 25:17Frankenstein. I don't know if anybody's
- 25:18seen it. I don't I don't know if it's
- 25:20late 70s, early 80s, so I didn't put on
- 25:22a list just cuz I didn't know when it
- 25:23came out, but like he Blazing Saddles is
- 25:25another one for Mel Brooks that he's
- 25:27phenomenal. But Space Balls is like
- 25:29>> the 1980s quintessential comedy in my
- 25:32opinion because they're also making fun
- 25:34of like you said Star Wars. It's made it
- 25:35even better. Yeah, I think it's the
- 25:38greatest parody movie of all time. Like
- 25:40bar none like the greatest.
- 25:42>> And the weird thing is I saw Space Balls
- 25:45before I saw Star Wars.
- 25:47>> Oh, nice.
- 25:48>> Wow.
- 25:48>> For me, I had no idea what they were
- 25:50paring and then as a kid I found it
- 25:52hilarious.
- 25:53>> Oh, so you didn't you didn't even know
- 25:55what Star Wars was. You watched Space
- 25:57Balls. Love that. And then when you
- 25:58watch Star Wars, like why are they
- 26:00remaking this comedy?
- 26:01>> No. So, it's funny because I I watched
- 26:03the original Star Wars when it was
- 26:04released for like the 20th anniversary
- 26:07like in the late 90s. That's the first
- 26:08time I saw it. But I had seen the other
- 26:10ones on TV, but yet for me like Space
- 26:13Balls is just amazing. I was watching it
- 26:15uh some clips of it on YouTube the other
- 26:17day because of the whole the alien show
- 26:19that's on now. So, it just reminded me
- 26:21of like the diner scene was like,
- 26:22"Hello, my baby." So, I was just running
- 26:24that back the other day like legit on
- 26:26Friday.
- 26:27>> Space the flamethrower,
- 26:30>> you know? the fact that they're paying
- 26:32off that joke for Space Balls the sequel
- 26:35this this far um past the release date.
- 26:39Oh my god. Um look, I'll be honest. I
- 26:42I'm not a big fan of reboots, right? Um
- 26:45>> but this one, it's not a reboot. I'm not
- 26:47I'm not too fan of sequels, you know,
- 26:49trying uh what is it? Trying to force a
- 26:52sequel just to make some money. this
- 26:54one. If Mel Brooks is attached and he's
- 26:57not just doing this as a cash grab and
- 26:58he truly wants to just make the sequel
- 27:00that should have been made decades ago,
- 27:02I I'm excited as all hell to watch this
- 27:04thing.
- 27:04>> He's like he's like a hundred years old
- 27:06though. That's the only thing that
- 27:07worries me. He's old. Rick Morannis is
- 27:08old, so I don't know. Yeah,
- 27:10>> I'm sure it'll be good, but I don't know
- 27:11if they can capture the exact magic that
- 27:14they had in that movie original, but
- 27:15hopefully they can.
- 27:17>> Yeah, I mean, and John, you don't have
- 27:18John Candy. I mean, that's that's a big
- 27:20big loss. Um, so but we'll see, man.
- 27:23We'll see. But when you're talking about
- 27:25those Mel Brooks movies of the 80s, oh
- 27:26my god, Blazing Saddles, Young
- 27:28Frankenstein, Space Balls, Robin Hood,
- 27:31Men in Tights. Oh my god. If you guys
- 27:33haven't watched that stupidly good
- 27:35movie. That's where like they're the
- 27:37predecessor to Dumb and Dumber.
- 27:42[Music]
- 27:48>> All right. All right, so I'm up and I
- 27:49have a a wild one because you know
- 27:51outside of links bring it up maniac cop.
- 27:53This is one I think I think both of you
- 27:55have seen but I'm not too sure.
- 27:57>> Blood sport
- 27:59Jean Vanam when he goes to the kumate
- 28:01and fights in the kumate. I was obsessed
- 28:04with this movie as a kid that and
- 28:06kickboxer he was in another kickboxer
- 28:08later on but blood sport was the
- 28:10original Frank Dukes going to fight in
- 28:13the kumate being chased by the cops from
- 28:15the US. I was every time it's on I had
- 28:18to freaking watch it. It was like it's
- 28:19such a great movie. Uh Overcoming the
- 28:22the big Asian guy. I don't even remember
- 28:23what his name was again. Tong name. No,
- 28:26no, Tong Po was
- 28:28Boang.
- 28:29>> That's it. All right. So, I was obsessed
- 28:31with this movie. Every time I saw it, I
- 28:33had to freaking watch it. But another
- 28:34action movie makes the list. Blood
- 28:37Sport. What do you guys think?
- 28:39>> Yeah. I mean, that was one of those
- 28:40movies that when it would come on in on
- 28:41channel 11, no matter what you was
- 28:42doing, you would stop and you would
- 28:44never catch it from the beginning. you
- 28:45would just put on the TV and it was
- 28:47there and you just had to stop.
- 28:48>> It made me want to do whatever fighting
- 28:51style that was. I don't even know. But I
- 28:53I loved it. And Bolo Yang is so
- 28:55underrated to me. Like when I saw him, I
- 28:58was like I was scared of that dude. So
- 29:00he was in that and he was in um the one
- 29:02where they were twins. Dope man. Blood
- 29:05Sport Kickboxer as well. Just amazing
- 29:08like action movies, man. per dropped at
- 29:10the perfect time too where you know in
- 29:12the 80s everything like that was just
- 29:14embraced.
- 29:15>> Yeah.
- 29:15>> You know when you talk about Bolo man so
- 29:17Bolo was in Enter of the Dragon right
- 29:18with Bruce Lee. So that's where he made
- 29:20his first big I think American debut.
- 29:23>> But Bolo at the time when it came to
- 29:24martial arts movie he was one of the
- 29:26villains. So it's kind of like
- 29:28>> I I keep forgetting his name but he's
- 29:30the Japanese guy that appears in every
- 29:32Japanese role. He was in John Wick, he
- 29:35was in Marvel movies. He was in Last
- 29:37Samurai. But um yeah, you if you see his
- 29:40face, you'll you'll know. But Bolo was
- 29:42kind of that for8s martial arts movies.
- 29:45Um and Blood Sport, like I'm with you,
- 29:47man. Blood Sport was an awesome movie,
- 29:49but it was one of those where I would
- 29:50catch it on TV. So I've never watched
- 29:52this thing all the way through in
- 29:54sequence. I would always catch bits and
- 29:56pieces of it.
- 29:57>> And so, but doing watching it that way,
- 30:00I've watched the whole thing. But oh my
- 30:02god, when you talk about just fighting
- 30:04the kumite, oh, life or death situation.
- 30:06Oh my. It was John Club Vanam back then
- 30:10with his little splits that he always
- 30:12did. It's just awesome.
- 30:14>> He's probably doing a split right now.
- 30:16>> I might have to put him in the thumbnail
- 30:17of this one.
- 30:19>> Doing the split.
- 30:19>> Do it right there.
- 30:20>> Or put Bolo in his big old boobies.
- 30:23>> Yeah. Blowing snot rockets out of his
- 30:26nose.
- 30:28>> That's what I remember for that movie.
- 30:37So, this next one means a lot to me as
- 30:40well, just like the other ones. This is
- 30:41one that a lot of people I know had
- 30:44haven't seen yet, and that's Bad Boys
- 30:47with Shawn Penn.
- 30:50>> Oh, so you're not talk you're not
- 30:51talking about Will Smith, Martin
- 30:53Lawrence.
- 30:54>> No. So, it's it's Bad Boys. I think it
- 30:56came out in 83. So, Shawn Penn stars in
- 30:59it. is Sean Penn, Isai Morales, and
- 31:02they're all teenagers. So, they're all
- 31:04like street toughs, street punks, and
- 31:07Isai Morales does something to Oh, damn.
- 31:10I'm just like fast forwarding. Anyway,
- 31:12Shawn Penn goes to jail. So, it's about
- 31:14all these teenagers in like a spaford in
- 31:16like a jail and and that should be used
- 31:19as like scared straight of what goes
- 31:21down in there. So, Shawn Penn is there.
- 31:23Um, Isa Morales, who's the antag
- 31:25antagonist, he's outside in the world
- 31:27and then he winds up doing something to
- 31:29Shawn Penn's girl to get him sent to the
- 31:32same jail so that they can have a face
- 31:33off. It's amazing, man. Like, it's um
- 31:37you could see even back then how Shawn
- 31:40Penn was really young, how he's just a
- 31:42phenomenal actor. A young Clancy Brown
- 31:44is in it as well. It's just a phenomenal
- 31:47cast and it's a drama. It's a drama. So,
- 31:48it's not like a violent movie or
- 31:50anything like that. is just like a a a
- 31:52drama and it's it really hits home. I I
- 31:55out of all the movies on the list,
- 31:56that's probably the most serious one and
- 31:58I highly recommend it. If you haven't
- 32:00seen it, give it give it a chance. Like
- 32:02it's super dope.
- 32:03>> I haven't seen it. I definitely got to
- 32:05check that out. That sounds fantastic.
- 32:06You ever see it, Jin, or No,
- 32:08>> no, I haven't seen this one. I haven't
- 32:09even heard of this. Um Wow. I'm gonna
- 32:12check this out because if it's Sean
- 32:13Penn, I mean, back in the 80s, man, that
- 32:15guy I mean even now he's a great actor,
- 32:17but
- 32:18>> Yeah.
- 32:18>> Yeah. And so it was him, uh, like I
- 32:20said, him, Isa Morales, Clancy Brown, a
- 32:23couple of other actors that you'll see
- 32:24in there that went on to have like, um,
- 32:26great careers. It's dark, too. It's
- 32:28dark. It's gritty. It's like, it's like
- 32:31' 80s, like legit. Like you look at that
- 32:32movie and it's like it just says '8s,
- 32:35the early 80s. So it was like that
- 32:36bridge almost coming out of the 70s
- 32:38where everything was like gritty and
- 32:40like street to the early 80s where um it
- 32:43continued.
- 32:44>> Oh wow. So kind of like a taxi driver.
- 32:47>> Yeah. the bridge between that and the
- 32:4980s movies.
- 32:50>> Yeah. Wow.
- 32:51>> Yeah.
- 32:52>> Wow.
- 32:52>> That's high expectations right there.
- 32:53Taxi Driver.
- 32:55>> All right, let me walk back.
- 32:58>> No, it's gritty like Taxi Driver. But
- 33:00it's it's a really good movie, man. Um,
- 33:02>> you heard it here, folks. DJ Link said
- 33:04that Bad Boys is better than Taxi
- 33:05Driver.
- 33:06>> Wait, leave this to us. It's too
- 33:08dangerous for you.
- 33:09>> Only one of us should go in there. I've
- 33:10had experience in this sort of thing. I
- 33:12know what I'm doing.
- 33:13>> I have a few. Um,
- 33:16all right. Let's do it. Willow.
- 33:20>> Wow. That's the one I didn't think I was
- 33:22going to bring up. Willow. Wow.
- 33:24>> Not the Disney Plus TV series that got
- 33:27erased from existence. Willow, the
- 33:30original Wicket Warick Val Kilmer movie.
- 33:33>> Um, oh my god. So, for for for me, what
- 33:38Willow was was the first real
- 33:40introduction to fantasy that I got into,
- 33:43right? Because before that, I think we
- 33:45had movies like Legend with Tom Cruz.
- 33:47Um, and then Never- Ending Story, which
- 33:49was also another great movie. Um, but
- 33:52this one was the first real true
- 33:54fantasy. I I love Conan, right? Uh, and
- 33:57Red Sonia and all that, but for me,
- 34:00Willow was a faster pace, so I think
- 34:03that's when action started to get faster
- 34:04and faster. Um, but everything from the
- 34:08character designs to the story of
- 34:11protecting this baby that's gonna
- 34:12overthrow the queen, you know, um,
- 34:15General is a General Kale with a skull
- 34:17helmet. Um, that design just I think
- 34:21that was the first time I character
- 34:22design really impacted me cuz I watched
- 34:24Star Wars as a kid, but I never really
- 34:26thought about the design of things.
- 34:28>> Um, but yeah, I just love that movie so
- 34:31much. And so when I saw what happened to
- 34:33the Disney Plus series, I was like,
- 34:36"Wow." Um, we had to bastardize bastard
- 34:39as a classic, but yeah, that's that's
- 34:42one of the top for me.
- 34:44>> So I I have I I remember seeing this
- 34:46movie, but it was so long ago I do not
- 34:49remember much. So I really can't comment
- 34:50it, but I remember like vaguely a few
- 34:53things here or there, but it wasn't my
- 34:54favorite growing up. It might have been
- 34:55like before. I probably saw it like
- 34:57really early and didn't like follow up
- 34:59and see it again. where I really really
- 35:01don't remember too much. But how about
- 35:02you, Len? You remember anything?
- 35:04>> I don't remember anything at all. I
- 35:05think I saw it on HBO when it was like
- 35:08the HBO premiere back in the day.
- 35:11>> And I I can't tell you. Like I I legit
- 35:14can't tell you. And I was a fantasy fan.
- 35:16So you you mentioned Legend, you
- 35:17mentioned Never Ending Story, Conan.
- 35:19Like I love all those movies, but for
- 35:21some reason I I can't say that I went
- 35:24back and watched Willow.
- 35:25>> Let some Aaron move things around.
- 35:29>> Yeah. Well, maybe my balls don't itch.
- 35:32>> All balls itch. It's a fact.
- 35:34>> All right. So, I'm going to throw you
- 35:36guys a really big curveball. All right.
- 35:38I'm going to give you a movie that I
- 35:40loved growing up, but I have no idea if
- 35:42you guys have seen it because it's not
- 35:43like a typical movie. All right.
- 35:45>> It's called Just One of the Guys. Uh,
- 35:47>> yes.
- 35:48>> All right. So, you haven't seen this?
- 35:50So, this movie is about this girl. She,
- 35:52you know, she's in high school and for
- 35:55some reason, I think she gets turned
- 35:56down for like she wrote a paper. she
- 35:58wanted to win some type of thing and she
- 35:59gets turned down because she wasn't a
- 36:02male. So, she ends up switching high
- 36:03schools and dresses as a male, got has
- 36:06everybody confused. She ends up meeting
- 36:09this guy in the new school to become
- 36:10really good friends and she starts to
- 36:12like fall in love with him at the end of
- 36:13the movie. And all the while everybody
- 36:15thinks she's a male except her brother
- 36:18and like maybe her friend. And the
- 36:20brother is the best [ __ ] part of the
- 36:21movie because the brother is like the
- 36:23typical high school guy and he's like,
- 36:26you know, he's like making fun of her.
- 36:28He's breaking her [ __ ] balls even
- 36:29though she's a woman. It's it's such a
- 36:31well done movie. And the best part of
- 36:33the movie I I'll give you two scenes.
- 36:34One is the end where she has to tell the
- 36:36guy that she loves at the end of the
- 36:38movie and she whips out a rack and it's
- 36:40probably one of the first times that
- 36:42I've seen a rack in my life and I'll
- 36:43never get
- 36:44>> They showed it.
- 36:45>> They showed it. Unbelievable. This 80s,
- 36:47brother, you know they're showing it.
- 36:48>> Yeah. Yeah.
- 36:49>> The second part was at one point in the
- 36:52movie her and her brother are talking
- 36:54about like just being a guy and she go
- 36:57he goes, "Show me how you scratch your
- 36:58balls to her." And she goes, she's
- 37:01scratching and she's like, she's like,
- 37:04he's like, "No, you're doing it all
- 37:05wrong." He's like, "Well, maybe my balls
- 37:07don't itch." He looks at her and goes,
- 37:08"All balls itch. It's a fact." I I'll
- 37:12never forget that line in my life. Such
- 37:15a great movie.
- 37:16>> Awesome. Oh my god. Do you know if it's
- 37:18streaming anywhere? Cuz I Yeah, this is
- 37:20another one I'm going to be checking
- 37:21out.
- 37:22>> Just I just Google it because it's such
- 37:24an entertaining movie. Such an
- 37:25interesting premise, too. But like the
- 37:27girl's cutesy. She's got short hair, but
- 37:28she's very cute.
- 37:29>> Um I just I was infatuated with that
- 37:31movie as a kid.
- 37:32>> Yeah, same. And uh my pause button was
- 37:36worked out on that.
- 37:38So that was one of the first movies that
- 37:40I um that we had that it showed boobs.
- 37:44It wasn't even gratuitous or anything
- 37:46like that, but to a kid like I was just
- 37:49like uh enamored. Um but it's it's
- 37:53actually a really good fun movie.
- 37:55>> It is. It's And the brother is
- 37:56hysterical in the whole movie. He
- 37:58answers the phone. He's like, "Hey, [ __ ]
- 38:00you. Do all the" and he's like, "Mom
- 38:01says hi." And hangs up the phone.
- 38:04>> He was insane. That movie was just It
- 38:06was an It was all 80s, right? That movie
- 38:08is perfect 80s.
- 38:09>> Yeah. That can't be made today.
- 38:11>> Yeah. He did nothing too after that. I'm
- 38:13shocked. I haven't seen him in anything.
- 38:16>> Yeah, that movie was so fun. Now I want
- 38:18to watch it.
- 38:19>> Yeah.
- 38:19>> And I'm just going to pause just for all
- 38:21time sake.
- 38:22>> Just do it when your wife's not there.
- 38:24>> No. [ __ ] that.
- 38:25>> You made me watch Goonies. Now we're
- 38:27watching this. No.
- 38:28>> Yeah.
- 38:29[Music]
- 38:38So, um I'm gonna go with super simple
- 38:42hero story as Jyn mentioned earlier.
- 38:45Cobra with Sylvester Stallone.
- 38:47>> Oh, yeah.
- 38:48>> Cobra is my favorite Sylvester Stallone
- 38:50movie bar none.
- 38:52>> Really?
- 38:52>> More than more than Rocky.
- 38:54>> More than Rocky.
- 38:55>> Wow.
- 38:56>> Wow. More than Rambo. Rambo 2.
- 38:58>> Yep. I I for some reason I just love
- 39:00Cobra. Right. suit. First and foremost,
- 39:02he's badass. He has a toothpick in his
- 39:04mouth at all times. Come on. Like,
- 39:06what's more badass than that? The
- 39:07shades, the car, which is in insane.
- 39:11He's just a, you know, a cop and then
- 39:14it's it's a simple story, right? So,
- 39:16it's the cop, the girl, bad guy. Brian
- 39:18Thompson as the night uh the night
- 39:21slasher was it? Or the nightstalker? I
- 39:23think it's the night slasher was
- 39:25amazing. Like, he's just an evil bad guy
- 39:27for the sake of being an evil bad guy.
- 39:29There's no backstory. There's nothing.
- 39:31It's just action and just badasserie, if
- 39:35that's a word. Like legit, this movie is
- 39:37just like badass from beginning to end.
- 39:39I love it.
- 39:40>> Take me.
- 39:43>> I remember watching that movie for the
- 39:45first time. You have to you had to watch
- 39:47anything Stallone in that that time
- 39:49frame from 80s to like late 80s because
- 39:51he was in everything. Not only just the
- 39:53Rocky movies which late 70s, early 80s,
- 39:55stuff like that, but Over the Top, Tango
- 39:59and Cash, Cobra,
- 40:01>> what else? There's a ton. I'm I'm
- 40:03missing a ton there, but I'm just going
- 40:05off the top of my mind. Oh, Over the
- 40:07Top. I said that that was one that I I
- 40:09absolutely love. One of my favorite
- 40:10Stallone movies, but Cobra was awesome.
- 40:12100%.
- 40:13>> Yeah. And and when people talk about
- 40:14like his filmography, like they [ __ ] all
- 40:16over Cobra be because it's so like
- 40:19plotwise is super paper thin, but it's
- 40:21just it's just awesome. Like the action
- 40:23is awesome. The chase scene with his uh
- 40:25what is it? Uh uh Seville, whatever.
- 40:27>> Yeah.
- 40:28>> Phenomenal. And uh Bridget Nielsen at
- 40:31the time, like she was amazing. It's
- 40:33just a dope movie, man. It's fun. It's
- 40:35just super fun. cheating on a movie like
- 40:37Cobra is kind of like taking advantage
- 40:40of a 5-year-old because I mean, you know
- 40:42what a 5-year-old's capable of. You know
- 40:43what, you know, they're going to mess
- 40:44up, right? Cobra, you know, it was just
- 40:47it was popcorn flick. Like, it was a
- 40:49true popcorn flick taking one of the
- 40:51hottest stars of the 80s, right? All of
- 40:54all time in terms of action movies
- 40:56>> and just making a movie about killing
- 40:59people. Yeah. And that's a movie that it
- 41:02bombed at the theater, but it caught a
- 41:05cult following on VHS.
- 41:07>> I think we I think we know what kind of
- 41:09like movies Lynx was into like growing
- 41:11up. We wanted to [ __ ] people up, man.
- 41:14>> Yeah. Legit. No. And again, like all
- 41:16these movies, these are from my mom. So
- 41:17what happened was we didn't have in in
- 41:19our neighborhood, we grew up we grew up
- 41:20in Bedstey, Brooklyn, right? So we had a
- 41:24video store, but it was like super
- 41:25expensive. So what we would do, there
- 41:26was a guy in the neighborhood that would
- 41:28record movies off of cable. We didn't
- 41:30have tickets at the time. He would just
- 41:32record movies and you would rent the
- 41:33movies from him and on each VCR tape
- 41:36there were three movies.
- 41:37>> So one of them it was that's how I
- 41:39remember it was
- 41:40>> Oh he recorded on SLP mode, man.
- 41:42>> Yeah. So it was like Predator um to this
- 41:45day I remember it was Predator, Maniac
- 41:47Cop, and Out of Bounds.
- 41:49[Music]
- 41:54>> All right. So, uh, I try to keep all
- 41:57those big mega franchises out of this.
- 42:01Uh, Lawrence saw a little preview, but
- 42:04I'm going to say it. My favorite Star
- 42:06Wars movie, hands down, Return of the
- 42:09Jedi. Yes, that trumps Empire Strikes
- 42:12Back for so many reasons, but Jedi,
- 42:17take take the uh Ewoks out of it,
- 42:21>> right?
- 42:21>> I love Ewoks growing up as a kid. I
- 42:23don't know why people [ __ ] on them.
- 42:24>> I know. I didn't I didn't mind it. Um
- 42:26and I I know people hated the Ewoks.
- 42:29Even to this day, they hate the Ewoks,
- 42:30but I didn't mind them that much. But
- 42:32when you think about everything we got
- 42:34in Jedi, right? Um in terms of the
- 42:38character designs, the story reveals, I
- 42:41mean, Leia finally finding out that he's
- 42:44she's Luke's sister, seeing Vader with
- 42:47his helmet off. I mean, um, the royal
- 42:51guards, uh, Slave Leia, come on. Come
- 42:54on. Right. Like, uh,
- 42:56>> uh, well, yeah, Jabba the Hut.
- 42:59>> As a kid, that movie was so packed. Um,
- 43:03that I remember watching Empire, not
- 43:05when it came out. I watched it on VHS.
- 43:07>> Mhm.
- 43:08>> Uh, and thinking, "This is really cool.
- 43:09I love Star Wars. It was fun." Oh, Vader
- 43:11is Luke's dad. Spoiler alert. Um, but
- 43:15uh, you know, that was fun. But when I
- 43:17was watching Jedi, I just remember every
- 43:20every time the scene changed, there was
- 43:22something cool. Jabba's Palace on
- 43:24Tatooine. Uh you're off in the Emperor's
- 43:26throne room. You're you're on Endor. You
- 43:29got speeder bikes. Oh my god, the
- 43:30speeder bikes. I that speeder bikes
- 43:32might be one of my favorite vehicles in
- 43:35the Star Wars franchise. Next to X-
- 43:36Wings, the speeder bike with a biker
- 43:38scout.
- 43:39>> Yeah. Everything about that movie to me
- 43:41was so fun from beginning to end. And
- 43:42then at the end, you got to see the
- 43:43Force Ghost. you saw Yoda and Ben and
- 43:46Anakin for the first time. I mean, there
- 43:47was so much about this franchise and I I
- 43:49know I'm going to catch a lot of [ __ ]
- 43:51for it for people who say Empire's
- 43:53number one, but I stand by that.
- 43:57>> I I don't know. I I I'm not a huge Star
- 44:00Wars fan. Obviously, I've seen them all,
- 44:01but like growing up as a kid, like I
- 44:02feel like the first two were were big
- 44:04deals and the third one was like I
- 44:06remember I remember that one the most
- 44:08and I was most excited for the Ewoks,
- 44:09but I really never was like crazy about
- 44:12the entire franchise. So, I'm not I know
- 44:14I get killed all the time for saying how
- 44:16how could you not I just like to me like
- 44:18I enjoyed a lot other movies better like
- 44:21DJ Link's more of like a you know a you
- 44:23know a crime I don't want to say horror
- 44:26but like beat them up type of movie or
- 44:29you know Maniac but for me I was always
- 44:32into like the comedies and like
- 44:33occasionally like a sports movie
- 44:35something like that. That was just more
- 44:36me.
- 44:45All right, so it's back around to me and
- 44:47I had to mention this one because I feel
- 44:49like there was a fever going on in the
- 44:511980s with this movie and that's
- 44:53Gremlins.
- 44:54>> Gremlins to me was like like the dream
- 44:56cuz I grew up like a monster kid. like I
- 44:58like monsters and just the story behind
- 45:01Gremlins about like this guy goes to
- 45:03Chinatown and basically buys this little
- 45:07animal that has all these little rules
- 45:09to it and none of the rules get followed
- 45:11and all of a sudden he bursts these
- 45:13other MW that turn into gremlins have to
- 45:15eat after midnight. It was such a crazy
- 45:17thing, but it became huge in the 1980s.
- 45:21And I remember loving the Gremlins, like
- 45:24not just the Mwai, but the actual
- 45:25disgusting Gremlins themselves, Stripe,
- 45:28the the woman Gremlin, I don't even know
- 45:30what the hell her name was, but the fact
- 45:31that they actually had a sequel. I'm
- 45:33actually hearing they're going to do
- 45:34another one.
- 45:35>> So, all these great ' 80s IPs, Gremlins,
- 45:38Space Balls, we mentioned one before, I
- 45:41forgot what it was, Goonies, that
- 45:42they're going to do another one finally.
- 45:44So, the Gremlins is one for me that like
- 45:46every time I see it's on again another
- 45:48great Spielberg movie, I always have to
- 45:50watch it.
- 45:52>> Yeah, for me it's we watch it every
- 45:53Christmas. It's it's on our our
- 45:55Christmas list, our Christmas viewing
- 45:57that Rudolph the Rena's reindeer that
- 46:00it's just perfect. And I I say that a
- 46:01lot with these 80s movies, but I don't
- 46:03know. Maybe it's the nostalgia goggles
- 46:05or whatever, but for me it's just
- 46:06perfect. And it was scary back then. It
- 46:08wasn't just like well cutesy like
- 46:10>> cuz it's like you see cutesy little
- 46:11Gizmo and stuff and then when the
- 46:13Gremlins come out Stripe it's just like
- 46:14yo what the hell? Um it's just a it's
- 46:17just a good good ass movie man and I'm
- 46:19kind of like h when I hear that they're
- 46:21making a a sequel to it like all these
- 46:24years later it's like where have the
- 46:26Gremlins been this entire time.
- 46:27>> That's the whole thing. You want to know
- 46:28where they've been, right? It's been so
- 46:30freaking long since they actually did
- 46:31another one that we have to see like
- 46:33what's been going on the past 30 plus
- 46:35years.
- 46:35>> I take it back. I'm sold.
- 46:39Yeah, Gremlins was again, we're talking
- 46:41about the the special effects of the
- 46:4380s. Um, man, it looks so cool when you
- 46:46saw when you saw those little fur balls
- 46:49popping off his back at night.
- 46:51>> Um,
- 46:53I know that kind of stuff creeped me
- 46:54out. So, we're talking about it being
- 46:56pretty scary, but when I saw those
- 46:57things, you know, evolving and growing,
- 46:59oh, it was gross, but in a good way.
- 47:02Because I'd be one of those kids I'd be
- 47:03doing this and watching through my
- 47:05fingers. Um, yeah, Gremlins has to be
- 47:09the the fact that you watch it every
- 47:10Christmas. I never even thought about
- 47:12that, but it's something I might have to
- 47:13do with my kids.
- 47:15>> Watch it every Christmas movie, though.
- 47:18It takes place around that time.
- 47:20>> Am I weird for that? Like,
- 47:22>> no. No,
- 47:23>> I feel like I'm being judged.
- 47:24>> It's like Die Hard is a Christmas movie,
- 47:26too. All the Die Hards are Christmas
- 47:27movies.
- 47:28>> Yeah, same.
- 47:29>> Back to the the the horror piece of it.
- 47:31Uh, super scary when Stripe at the end
- 47:34when he falls into like the fountain and
- 47:36then comes out and he's like all like
- 47:38Emil from Robocop is like insane.
- 47:42>> Oh man, Robocop, another great Asian
- 47:44movie.
- 47:44>> Yeah, I was going to say on that is the
- 47:46perfect like you know segue into this.
- 47:48We've already been on an hour. So what
- 47:50we're going to do now is just basically
- 47:51go around the horn and talk about and
- 47:52not talk about mention other movies from
- 47:55the time period in the 1980s which you
- 47:56love because honestly we we could
- 47:58probably go on about all our movies like
- 48:00three hours. But I think a podcast would
- 48:02be a little bit too long. Maybe we'll do
- 48:03another one of these at some point. But
- 48:04for now, let's go around the horn and
- 48:06just we'll keep going until we can't
- 48:08name one that we absolutely love. All
- 48:10right. Does that sound good?
- 48:11>> Let's go.
- 48:12>> All right, Link. So, we're going to
- 48:13start with you again.
- 48:15>> The Never- Ending Story.
- 48:17>> Oh, nice. Very nice.
- 48:19>> That was on my list, too.
- 48:21>> That's trauma right there, man.
- 48:23>> 100%. I'll tra you. The the horse I
- 48:26forget the horse's name. Oh, no. That's
- 48:28it. our taxes.
- 48:30>> All right, Jen, you
- 48:32>> all right? Oh, can't believe we haven't
- 48:33talked about this one. Ghostbusters
- 48:37>> another one on my list as well. That
- 48:39that Ghostbusters like took over the 80s
- 48:41as well. Like again, they did a third
- 48:43one, but it took them 30 plus years to
- 48:45do it and then it stunk.
- 48:46>> Yeah, for me I'm going Police Academy
- 48:48was one that I always found comical.
- 48:50>> Classic.
- 48:50>> A lot a lot of stupid characters, but uh
- 48:52always something I found funny. Mahoney,
- 48:56all 15 sequels or what, however many
- 48:58dozens they've done.
- 49:00>> Um, for me, I'm going to go Scarface.
- 49:03So, I I fell in love with Scarface. I
- 49:05was just like, super criminals that are
- 49:07Hispanic like me, I'm in.
- 49:09>> Oh, yeah.
- 49:10>> Classic. Classic.
- 49:12>> All right, here's one big Tom H.
- 49:16Dude, I always love that movie growing
- 49:18up as a kid because as a kid like you
- 49:20want you can't wait to get to be an
- 49:21adult and like just the fact that this
- 49:24kid made a wish, became big and then had
- 49:26to deal with all the [ __ ] that he went
- 49:27through. It was just it was such a good
- 49:29movie. Such a great 80s movie. Wow.
- 49:31>> Fantastic. Uh for me, I'm going die
- 49:34hard. Love John Mlan. All of them. All
- 49:36three were fantastic, but the original
- 49:38was in the 80s.
- 49:39>> That's right. Anyone who says he's just
- 49:42a normal dude and how does he do all
- 49:43that stuff over the three movies? Just
- 49:45just take a seat. Just take a seat.
- 49:46Watch this thing.
- 49:47>> We talked about like action stars. How
- 49:49did we not mention Bruce Willis because
- 49:50he was fantastic.
- 49:52>> It's funny. For some reason, I forget
- 49:53that Die Hard came out in the late 80s.
- 49:56>> Yeah.
- 49:57>> Um for me, I'm going to go with The Last
- 50:00American Virgin. So, it's it's kind of
- 50:02like up the same alley as just one of
- 50:04the guys with with Gary and they fall in
- 50:06love, high school kids, and there's
- 50:08there's an abortion involved. It's
- 50:10probably the most like heartbreaking
- 50:12ending to a movie, like to like a teen
- 50:14drama movie ever.
- 50:16>> Great pick.
- 50:18>> Oh, wow. All right. Stand by Me.
- 50:21>> That was another one that was had a long
- 50:23list. Yeah, absolutely.
- 50:25>> Freaking fantastic movie. I think if
- 50:27you're again, if you're This is one of
- 50:28them movies like The Goonies. If you're
- 50:29a young boy, you'll love that movie.
- 50:32>> Yeah, the coming of age tale. I mean,
- 50:34it's one that I'm going to try to watch
- 50:36with my son when he gets old enough. But
- 50:38yeah, great movie.
- 50:40>> Uh, for me, I'm shocked we didn't
- 50:43mention this one. The Karate Kid.
- 50:45>> Oh my god, how did that How did that not
- 50:48come up?
- 50:48>> Yeah, Mr. Miyagi was everybody's best
- 50:51friend, man. Even now, like all these
- 50:53years later with Cobra Kai, did you
- 50:54watch that?
- 50:55>> No.
- 50:56>> Oh, dude, it is it is so cheesy good.
- 51:00It's fantastic. But the original Karate
- 51:01Kid trilogy was one of my faves.
- 51:04>> Yeah, I have a lovehate relationship
- 51:06with The Karate Kid. Like my real name
- 51:07is Daniel. So once The Karate Kid came
- 51:09out, I was Daniel Son. Like even to this
- 51:12day, people still call me Daniel Son,
- 51:13which is crazy.
- 51:14>> Oh my god.
- 51:15>> At least they don't call you Miyagi.
- 51:17>> That's true. That's true.
- 51:20>> Snap for me. And this is another one of
- 51:22those pause moments. A Nightmare on Elm
- 51:25Street Part Three, which I think is the
- 51:27best Freddy Krueger movie hands down,
- 51:28dude.
- 51:29>> 100%. The Dream Master, right?
- 51:31>> Yeah, the Dream Master.
- 51:32>> Unbelievable, dude.
- 51:33>> No, wrong. Not the Dream Master. I'm
- 51:34sorry. The Dream Warriors. Dream
- 51:36Warriors, right? That's it. The Dream
- 51:37Warriors when he turns into that big
- 51:39thing and snake and is eating the girl.
- 51:41Oh my god. I I was like that was my
- 51:43thing as a kid. I loved horror movies.
- 51:45So like
- 51:46>> I'm surprised we didn't mention that
- 51:47earlier, but I'm with you, man. Freddy
- 51:49Krueger was the [ __ ]
- 51:50>> Yeah. And for me at the time, like cuz
- 51:52you want all the people to die, like all
- 51:54the young kids to die like and and this
- 51:56they they were warriors. They were all
- 51:58like tough and then fighting back. So
- 52:00easily the best Freddy Krueger movie.
- 52:01>> The one thing I want to add is like who
- 52:04thought of this [ __ ] character? the
- 52:05guy that that attacks you when you're
- 52:07asleep with knives on his hands as a
- 52:10glove. Like like who the f thinks of
- 52:12this, man. Wes Craven. I I know it is
- 52:13Wes Craven. That's just nuts to me. It's
- 52:15It's insane.
- 52:16>> Yeah, I think in moviewise uh and I'm
- 52:21sorry to over talk. Um I think Freddy
- 52:22Krueger is probably one of the best
- 52:24concepts ever and the concept for
- 52:26Terminator is one of the best concepts
- 52:28ever. Like the time travel to give life
- 52:31to yourself to send your like it's just
- 52:33crazy that time loop. I agree.
- 52:36>> Yeah, man. [ __ ] with you in your
- 52:37dreams, that's the worst, man.
- 52:39>> You can't sleep.
- 52:42>> All right. Um, here's another one. I And
- 52:44this is one I rewatch with my kids once
- 52:46a year. Uh, The Princess Bride.
- 52:49>> Great pick.
- 52:50>> That was a good one.
- 52:51>> Great pick. Wow. I didn't even think of
- 52:53that one. That is tremendous. And it
- 52:55absolutely is a fantastic fantastic 80s
- 52:57movie. I'm shocked I didn't even think
- 52:58of that. All right. For me, ET. Now, I
- 53:03was scared shitless of ET. I'm not going
- 53:06to lie to you. That [ __ ] freaked me out
- 53:07when when he when you first see him and
- 53:09he's running and he's screaming, man. I
- 53:10had to put my head under a blanket. I
- 53:12got freaked out. But that movie is
- 53:14classic. When he takes off with him on a
- 53:16bike, it's just there's nothing better
- 53:17at that moment.
- 53:18>> Yeah, that's the first movie that I
- 53:20remember like balling to.
- 53:21>> Yeah.
- 53:23>> Uh for me, I'm going to go with Legend,
- 53:26the Tom Cruz movie. So that that's a
- 53:29fantasy movie and that's what made me
- 53:30fall in love with creature design. Jyn,
- 53:32you mentioned creature design earlier,
- 53:33like the the design for like Legend and
- 53:35Meg's Mucklebones, whatever. Phenomenal.
- 53:38I have like a sideshow statue of the
- 53:40Lord of Darkness here, which is amazing.
- 53:42>> Oh, nice. Nice. Yeah, that was a nice
- 53:44piece. Yeah, that movie visually was
- 53:46just beautiful at the time. And when you
- 53:48think about it, uh, you know, horror,
- 53:51fantasy, sci-fi design, it was still
- 53:53really in its infancy. But the fact that
- 53:55they were to pull off some of the shots
- 53:56that they did, I you know, watching it
- 53:58now as a as a designer just my god. Um
- 54:02it was low lower budget too from what I
- 54:04recall.
- 54:05>> Mhm.
- 54:05>> Uh Christmas story. You guys ever watch
- 54:07that?
- 54:07>> Of course. How could you not watch that?
- 54:10>> Oh my six times on Christmas Eve every
- 54:13every year.
- 54:14>> Yeah. Yeah. On TV they replay that
- 54:16thing.
- 54:16>> Yeah. Almost all day.
- 54:18>> Literally is a 24-hour marathon. Like
- 54:20it's crazy.
- 54:22>> Yeah. You know, talk about creepy
- 54:23things. something just stick with you
- 54:25like Lawrence said that ET creeped you
- 54:26out. That one teacher that said to him,
- 54:29you'll shoot your eye out, you know,
- 54:31with that fisheye lens.
- 54:34>> That I don't know what it was, but that
- 54:35thing stuck with me for a while. And
- 54:37every time I would watch it as a kid
- 54:38when it was on TV, I I would just kind
- 54:40of look away cuz
- 54:41>> like I don't know if it's a crazy makeup
- 54:43that she had on, whatever, but that
- 54:45thing messed with me for a couple years.
- 54:47>> Oh my god. All right, so we're going to
- 54:49go around. We're going to do one more
- 54:50each. You ready? We'll end this thing on
- 54:52a good note. So, for me, uh, I'm gonna
- 54:55go Porky's. I don't know if you guys
- 54:56ever saw Porky's trilogy.
- 54:58>> Talk about the pause button, man.
- 55:00>> Exactly.
- 55:01>> Broken that movie.
- 55:02>> You could see what type of kid I was,
- 55:03what I was I was into, but like that was
- 55:05one of those movies like just one of the
- 55:07guys where like you're you're you're a
- 55:09teenager and you're you know, I was
- 55:10younger at the time, but like doing all
- 55:12that crazy stuff with that movie. One of
- 55:14the best.
- 55:16>> No, that and meatballs. If you're going
- 55:17to say porkies, I think you have to add
- 55:18meatballs.
- 55:19>> They're all in the same conversation.
- 55:21>> Yeah. Uh, for me, my final pick is going
- 55:24to be Critters. So, I I think Critters
- 55:26is just a fun like stupid movie, alien
- 55:29invasion thing. The the thing where the
- 55:31the the guys where they could morph
- 55:33their faces into different characters
- 55:34and then one of the aliens chooses
- 55:36Johnny Steel cuz he's watching the video
- 55:38in the spaceship for some odd reason or
- 55:40whatever. It's pretty dope. Oh, no. It
- 55:41wasn't in the spaceship. It was at the
- 55:42gas station. Anyway, Critters. That's
- 55:45>> I haven't I haven't thought about that
- 55:46movie in years. Wow.
- 55:47>> I know. Well, I'm I'm trying to recall
- 55:50what I've seen of that movie. I just
- 55:52remember loving it. Such a fun movie.
- 55:55>> All right, Joe, we're gonna end on you,
- 55:57but I do I am gonna mention one more
- 55:58because I it should have been on my list
- 56:00that I just thought of, but you give me
- 56:02your last one.
- 56:03>> All right. Airplane. Um I love the hell
- 56:06out of that movie. Uh part one, part
- 56:09two, doesn't matter. They were just so
- 56:11stupid and funny. And I remember as a
- 56:13kid, I remember that one where you had
- 56:16the autopilot and she had to blow him
- 56:17back up because it was inflatable.
- 56:19>> I I didn't get that joke as a kid. That
- 56:22was so funny. And then it was only as
- 56:24an, you know, as a teenager in high
- 56:25school re-watching. I'm thinking, "Oh my
- 56:27god, I watched this when I was, you
- 56:28know, elementary school.
- 56:31>> It was awesome.
- 56:32>> That's such a good movie. The first
- 56:33one."
- 56:33>> All right. So, before I I let you guys
- 56:35go, I get got to give you one more
- 56:37because I totally forgot about this
- 56:38movie until you just mentioned one, and
- 56:40that's the movie Mannequin.
- 56:43Oh yeah,
- 56:44>> dude.
- 56:46>> Awesome. It's
- 56:46>> not I mean just the premise of that
- 56:49movie that the dude you know you know
- 56:52working or whatever and this mannequin
- 56:53comes alive and only he could see her.
- 56:55It's just magical between the music of
- 56:57that movie between the story between I
- 56:59used to love Kim Control in that movie
- 57:01too. She was beautiful. But uh that's
- 57:04one I think that everyone from the 80s
- 57:06loves. What do you think?
- 57:08>> When you're talking about being a boy, a
- 57:10young boy, young man in the 80s,
- 57:13Mannequin and Weird Science are the two
- 57:15that's just
- 57:17>> talk about fantasy come to life, right?
- 57:21>> Yeah,
- 57:22>> they were awesome.
- 57:23>> Yeah, I I love Yeah, I love Mannequin.
- 57:27That was one that we recorded from like
- 57:29channel 5 or whatever. They they showed
- 57:31it and and
- 57:32>> I just love that movie. I'm surprised
- 57:34that I didn't put it on. That would have
- 57:35been in my top seven. Like that's such a
- 57:38good movie.
- 57:39>> Yeah, I had forgotten about it until he
- 57:40mentioned one of the others. So I was
- 57:42like, "Oh, I had to at least mention it
- 57:44on here before I let you go." If you'd
