- 0:00Speaker 1: Now we know that the territory's largest music festival, based
- 0:03Speaker 1: in the grass it wrapped up for another year on
- 0:06Speaker 1: the weekend, fourteen thousand people packing out Mindle Beach and
- 0:10Speaker 1: enjoying the music from some of Australia's brightest music stars.
- 0:14Speaker 1: But then we know that the supercars are set to
- 0:17Speaker 1: roar into town next month for three days of NonStop
- 0:21Speaker 1: action for the Darwin Triple Crown Supercars Indigenous Round. Now
- 0:25Speaker 1: joining me on the line to talk about both of
- 0:27Speaker 1: these wonderful events is the NT Major Events CEO. It
- 0:32Speaker 1: is Susanna Bishop. Good morning to you. Susanna, all, good morning,
- 0:37Speaker 1: thanks for having me. Lovely to have you on the show. Now, firstly,
- 0:41Speaker 1: let's talk about Bass. We know that it went off
- 0:44Speaker 1: on the weekend about fourteen thousand people.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Yes, that's right. We had quite a lot of people
- 0:50Speaker 2: having a great time last Thurtyday.
- 0:54Speaker 1: It's always a wonderful event, there is no doubt about that.
- 0:57Speaker 1: And today we know that the supercar program has been launched. Susanna,
- 1:02Speaker 1: how's it looking for twenty twenty three.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Oh, we're really excited. We hardly cool down from base
- 1:10Speaker 2: and we're hitting up already with supercars which happened just
- 1:14Speaker 2: in a couple of weeks. So we have a lot
- 1:16Speaker 2: of action, a lot of activity for modest sport lovers,
- 1:20Speaker 2: but also for families and even students with our Friday.
- 1:25Speaker 2: So lots of activity coming up.
- 1:27Speaker 1: And the program launched today. Anything sort of a bit
- 1:31Speaker 1: different for this year for the Indigenous round or what
- 1:34Speaker 1: can we expect?
- 1:36Speaker 2: Yeah, we're really excited. You know, we've been working really
- 1:39Speaker 2: closely with different partners including Larkia Nation and we'll have
- 1:45Speaker 2: the libraries for the cars coming back and coming back
- 1:48Speaker 2: really strong this year, so some fantastic artwork to look.
- 1:52Speaker 2: I think one different thing this year that we're really
- 1:55Speaker 2: proud is that we're extending Deny Transport at Convoy all
- 1:58Speaker 2: the way to Palmerston so more people can can chack
- 2:02Speaker 2: and get excited. I also come up to the waterfront
- 2:06Speaker 2: where fans can meet their more sport heroes and there
- 2:09Speaker 2: will be a Nitro up North car there on display
- 2:12Speaker 2: as well. So a very action packed week. Yeah, the
- 2:17Speaker 2: three Days of Modern Sport.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Oh, people are going to be very excited to hear
- 2:21Speaker 1: that that night Convoy. So is it going to start
- 2:24Speaker 1: in Palmerston or how's it going to work?
- 2:27Speaker 2: Well, it's we're doing the whole tour, so from the
- 2:30Speaker 2: city to Palmerston obviously to get more details and know
- 2:34Speaker 2: exactly where you can be at what time. Has it
- 2:36Speaker 2: The website the www. Dowin Supercars, dot com dotu and
- 2:41Speaker 2: you can see these. You haven't hate your tickets. There's
- 2:43Speaker 2: an opportunity there to buy as well.
- 2:46Speaker 1: How wonderful and like I said, I think a lot
- 2:48Speaker 1: of people are going to be pretty excited to hear that,
- 2:51Speaker 1: so that'll sort of kick things off. And then we've
- 2:53Speaker 1: got the supercars. You've got the Australian superbikes, the Porsche,
- 2:58Speaker 1: the Porsches, and there are the Aussie racing cars combined
- 3:03Speaker 1: with Sedan's also hitting the track.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Yes, you know, a little bit for everyone, that's what
- 3:09Speaker 2: we're trying to achieve. So if you are a loyal
- 3:12Speaker 2: motivesports fan, you have plenty to keep you busy. But
- 3:15Speaker 2: if you're part of a family, there'll be lots of
- 3:18Speaker 2: activities in your children age thirteen and nunder teens for free.
- 3:22Speaker 2: That's a fantastic opportunity to be really inclusive in this event.
- 3:26Speaker 2: And you know, we'll continue to have a lot of
- 3:28Speaker 2: those activities that were available for kids will have music,
- 3:32Speaker 2: you know, we'll have students on track the easter around
- 3:36Speaker 2: a band on stage. So much there really is activities.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Yeah, honestly, it's like such a massive sort of week
- 3:45Speaker 1: of action. And you see so many people travel from
- 3:48Speaker 1: all around Australia to get here for the supercars as well,
- 3:51Speaker 1: don't you.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Absolutely we're looking at around forty five percent of attend
- 3:58Speaker 2: event coming from in and maybe even international, so it's
- 4:02Speaker 2: a great way to showcase that with the back we've
- 4:05Speaker 2: got to offer in the Northern Territory. At the same time,
- 4:08Speaker 2: she really proud about our destination and welcome people from everywhere.
- 4:12Speaker 3: How many people are we expecting, well, listened last year
- 4:17Speaker 3: we probably had about forty thousand air tends across all
- 4:21Speaker 3: the day, so we know.
- 4:23Speaker 2: It's looking really hot. At the moment, all of our
- 4:26Speaker 2: hospitality has been sold out except from the Gravel Trap.
- 4:30Speaker 2: We are tracking a little bit ahead in sales from
- 4:34Speaker 2: where we were last year, so we think it's going
- 4:36Speaker 2: to be a really really big event.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Yeah, no doubt it will be.
- 4:40Speaker 2: It is.
- 4:40Speaker 1: It's always a fantastic time to be in Darwin lent
- 4:44Speaker 1: Tea Major Events CEO Susanna Bishop, thank you so much
