Dot com Welcome to the Daily Quote, a podcast designed to
• 0:06
kick start your day in a positive way.

I'm your host Anna McGivern for November 18th.
• 0:12
Today is Mickey Mouse Day, celebrating the birthday of the
• 0:15
most iconic character in animation history.
• 0:18
On November 18th, 1928, Mickey Mouse made his debut in
• 0:22
Steamboat Willie at the Colony Theatre in New York City, NY
• 0:26
City. It was the first cartoon with
• 0:30
synchronized sound and audiences went wild.
• 0:34
That whistling, mischievous mouse wasn't just a character,
• 0:38
he was a revolution. Walt Disney created Mickey
• 0:42
during one of the lowest points of his career.
• 0:45
He just lost the rights to his first successful character and
• 0:48
was travelling home by train. Broke and discouraged.
• 0:52
On that train ride, he sketched a mouse.
• 0:55
That mouse became Mickey. That failure became fortune.
• 1:02
Today, Mickey Mouse represents more than animation.
• 1:05
He's proof that dreams can survive setbacks.
• 1:08
Walt Disney himself captured the spirit perfectly when he said
• 1:13
all our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue
• 1:18
them. Disney didn't just say these
• 1:20
words, he lived them through Mickey.
• 1:23
Think about it. Disney had every reason to quit
• 1:26
  after losing his first character.
• 1:28
But instead of giving up, he created something new, something
• 1:31
better, something that would change entertainment forever.
• 1:35
The courage Disney talks about isn't the absence of fear, it's
• 1:39
moving forward despite it. It's sketching a mouse on a
• 1:43
  train when you're broken, discouraged.
• 1:45
It's believing in your vision when no one else does.
• 1:51
Mickey Mouse exists because Walt Disney had the courage to pursue
• 1:54
his dream even after devastating failure.
• 1:58
That's the real magic of this story.
• 2:00
So today, channel your inner Walt Disney.
• 2:04
Whatever dream you're pursuing, whatever courage you need, tap
• 2:08
into it. Maybe you're facing rejection.
• 2:12
  Maybe you've lost something important.
• 2:15
Maybe you're discouraged in thinking about quitting, or
• 2:19
maybe you want to take your soccer skills to the next level.
• 2:23
Whatever it is, remember that Mickey Mouse was born from
• 2:27
  failure. Disney's greatest creation came
• 2:31
from his lowest moment. Your setbacks might be setting
• 2:35
you up for your best breakthroughs.
• 2:39
Have the courage to keep pursuing your dreams, especially
• 2:42
when it's hard. Especially when you're
• 2:45
  discouraged. That's exactly when courage
• 2:49
matters most. Because as Walt Disney and
• 2:52
Mickey Mouse prove, all our dreams really can come true.
• 2:57
That's going to do it for today. I'm Andrew McGivern, signing off
• 3:00
for now, but I'll be back tomorrow.
• 3:04
Same pod time, same pod station with another daily quote.
