- 0:08Speaker 1: Podcast.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome to Meat Eater Trivia, the only game show where
- 0:12Speaker 2: conservation always wins. I'm your host, Spencer new Arth, and
- 0:16Speaker 2: today we're joined by Brody Randall, Tony Maggie, Max, Sarah
- 0:21Speaker 2: Lake Pickle, and Caitlin Los Binozo Lake. What are you
- 0:24Speaker 2: doing in town? First time on Trivia?
- 0:26Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 0:27Speaker 4: Yeah, A longtime listener, first time participant. Yeah, I'm working
- 0:32Speaker 4: on a new podcast that's gonna go on the bear
- 0:33Speaker 4: Grease feed. M pretty excited about that. It's gonna be
- 0:36Speaker 4: called Backwoods University.
- 0:37Speaker 2: I thought we were gonna do bear Grease Trivia. I
- 0:39Speaker 2: thought that's what you were gonna do.
- 0:41Speaker 3: I thought it might be more embarrassing if I didn't
- 0:43Speaker 3: know some of that. I don't know. We'll see, we'll see.
- 0:45Speaker 2: What's the show about.
- 0:47Speaker 4: We're focusing in on like wildlife biology, but also like
- 0:51Speaker 4: really focusing on the influence that humans can have on
- 0:54Speaker 4: wildlife and the habitat. Because me and Clay when we
- 0:57Speaker 4: were working on some of the first episodes and just
- 0:59Speaker 4: kind of storyboard and stuff out, I was like, man,
- 1:02Speaker 4: I can't hardly mention a species of wildlife or a
- 1:05Speaker 4: wildlife process or anything that is not somehow heavily influenced
- 1:10Speaker 4: by humans. Could be positive, could be negative, but it's
- 1:13Speaker 4: a big part of it.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Okay, give me some examples of episodes that are on
- 1:17Speaker 2: the docket, gotcha.
- 1:18Speaker 4: So we've got one coming out on bison, but it's
- 1:22Speaker 4: about a history on bison in the eastern United States.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Oh all right, yeah.
- 1:25Speaker 4: They man, Yeah, I got to I got to go
- 1:30Speaker 4: to a spot in northern Tennessee. It's actually Dwayne Estes
- 1:34Speaker 4: who was on the podcast. Here is a guy that
- 1:36Speaker 4: worked with him. Went to a property where they were
- 1:38Speaker 4: restoring prairie and they had digitized some of the buffalo
- 1:42Speaker 4: trails from the Cumberland settlements, and there's a spot on
- 1:45Speaker 4: that property where there's still a like visible bison trail,
- 1:49Speaker 4: like trees still cleared out, still a visible trail.
- 1:51Speaker 3: Is super cool.
- 1:53Speaker 4: So doing that, doing bob whack quail kind of what
- 1:57Speaker 4: happened to them? Why did we used to have a
- 2:00Speaker 4: lot of them and now we seemingly don't. So those
- 2:03Speaker 4: are some of the big ones.
- 2:04Speaker 2: On the Bear Grease feed. When do these come out Monday? Monday?
- 2:08Speaker 2: Like this coming Monday?
- 2:09Speaker 4: No, ill be on Monday's first one is June ninth.
- 2:12Speaker 2: All right, pretty soon then, Yeah, what's going to be
- 2:15Speaker 2: your strength and your weakness and Meat Eater Trivia.
- 2:18Speaker 4: My strength is going to be a lot of confidence.
- 2:20Speaker 4: My weekness is going to be I'm probably not really
- 2:23Speaker 4: going to know a lot of the answers.
- 2:24Speaker 2: All right. I think that's backwards from Randall. Randall's strength
- 2:28Speaker 2: is he knows a lot of the answers, and his
- 2:31Speaker 2: weakness sometimes he's leaking confidence.
- 2:33Speaker 5: I have no faith in myself.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Caitlin, how do you feel about your chances of media trivia?
- 2:41Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm just here for the experience, Spencer, Strength and weakness.
- 2:45Speaker 6: Strength is going to be anything trapping related or uh
- 2:51Speaker 6: weird wildlife, science questions, science plants.
- 2:54Speaker 2: I'm on top of it, all right. You Andke have
- 2:57Speaker 2: that category down, all right. This is a ten round
- 2:59Speaker 2: quick show with questions from meat Eater's four verticals, which
- 3:02Speaker 2: are hunting, fishing, conservation, and cooking, and there's a prize.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Meat Eater will donate five hundred dollars to the conservation
- 3:08Speaker 2: organization of the winners choosing. Here's our Infrequently Asked Question segment.
- 3:13Speaker 2: If you have a trivia related question for our crew,
- 3:16Speaker 2: send it to Trivia at the Medeater dot com with
- 3:18Speaker 2: the subject line I faq. Amber Langley says, would love
- 3:22Speaker 2: for you to feature more female trappers if you can
- 3:25Speaker 2: find them. Well, Amber, we have Kaitlin with us today. Caitlyn,
- 3:30Speaker 2: how's your trapping season?
- 3:31Speaker 7: Ben?
- 3:33Speaker 6: Well over now? But I had a really awesome winner.
- 3:36Speaker 6: It's kind of a record year for me. Bobcats, coyotes, beaver.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Give us some numbers on them.
- 3:42Speaker 6: Let's see thirteen beaver, nine coyotes, eight bobcats, couple raccoons,
- 3:50Speaker 6: a couple possums.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Okay, this was in Kansas.
- 3:52Speaker 6: In Kansas predominantly public land. I had a nuisance beaver
- 3:56Speaker 6: job that pulled a bunch of them off at the
- 3:59Speaker 6: end there, But yeah, mostly public So I run a
- 4:03Speaker 6: super small line. So yeah, numbers are not going to
- 4:06Speaker 6: be like you would get with like a long line
- 4:08Speaker 6: or anything like that. But it's it's a lot of work.
- 4:11Speaker 6: I really enjoy it, and every catches, every catch is
- 4:14Speaker 6: like a big deal for me.
- 4:15Speaker 2: What was the most exciting thing you trapped?
- 4:17Speaker 6: Oh gosh, I got two doubles on bobcats, which was
- 4:21Speaker 6: incredible because oh no, no, just like yeah, just like
- 4:26Speaker 6: same same area, really small areas and I can't run
- 4:29Speaker 6: more than like a dozen traps at a time, like
- 4:31Speaker 6: working full time and and packing in on public land.
- 4:35Speaker 6: So yeah, but having having those two doubles, two of
- 4:38Speaker 6: them were like twin cage sets. I was after actually
- 4:42Speaker 6: one cat. I didn't know there were I didn't know
- 4:45Speaker 6: there were that many in there, and uh yeah. Went
- 4:48Speaker 6: checked the first cage and I had the cat and
- 4:50Speaker 6: I was like, oh, that must be the one because
- 4:51Speaker 6: it was you know, it was a big cat.
- 4:53Speaker 4: Uh.
- 4:53Speaker 6: And then I went in to check the second trap
- 4:55Speaker 6: and I saw the door was closed, and I was like,
- 4:57Speaker 6: no way, And sure enough if there was another one day,
- 5:00Speaker 6: same day.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Great. And Kate works with a lot of the furs herself.
- 5:03Speaker 2: She made the biaber pillows that were in our auction
- 5:06Speaker 2: house of audities. I think those sold for like a
- 5:07Speaker 2: thousand bucks.
- 5:08Speaker 6: It was eight hundred five.
- 5:13Speaker 2: What are you working on any interesting projects right now
- 5:15Speaker 2: with your furs from this last trapping?
- 5:17Speaker 6: So I still have to get everything off to the tannery.
- 5:20Speaker 6: Fell a little behind on that, but once everything is back,
- 5:24Speaker 6: probably end of the summer early fall, I might have
- 5:28Speaker 6: enough beaver to start working on a blanket. I would
- 5:31Speaker 6: really love to have a blanket that would stay with me,
- 5:35Speaker 6: but I might start, you know, working on more to
- 5:38Speaker 6: put in my shop. Definitely pillows. I love making those.
- 5:42Speaker 2: There you go, Amber a female trapper here on Mediater Trivia,
- 5:45Speaker 2: and she's going to be on an upcoming episode of
- 5:47Speaker 2: the Mediater podcast.
- 5:49Speaker 8: Hey Spencer, I know how you like to promote the website.
- 5:51Speaker 8: Uh huh, she's been writing some trapping articles for meg
- 5:54Speaker 8: on the website.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Yeah, to give us an example, what kind of articles we.
- 5:57Speaker 6: Got, Well, my first one was, uh, how running a
- 6:02Speaker 6: trap line made me a better public land deer hunter.
- 6:04Speaker 6: Oh so yeah kind of yeah, yeah, kind of meshing
- 6:13Speaker 6: both worlds there. But then also some like coyote trapping
- 6:19Speaker 6: as uh, everybody's well almost everybody in the hunting world
- 6:23Speaker 6: like has some kind of interaction with coyotes, whether it's
- 6:26Speaker 6: just like thinking of it as a as a predator
- 6:29Speaker 6: of you know, the prey that you're hunting, or just
- 6:32Speaker 6: kind of an interest in them because they're so prevalent
- 6:34Speaker 6: on the landscape. So there'll be a coyote trapping article
- 6:38Speaker 6: and then uh kind of like a nest nest predator.
- 6:42Speaker 6: A lot of it's hard to hard to talk to
- 6:44Speaker 6: anybody who hunts any kind of game burden without getting
- 6:46Speaker 6: a comment about You know, predators and a lot of
- 6:48Speaker 6: people are interested in trying to get into predator management.
- 6:51Speaker 2: So Caitlyn's articles over on the medeater dot com or
- 6:55Speaker 2: we have some housekeeping today. On a previous episode of Trivia,
- 6:58Speaker 2: we had a question about the duck that's named after
- 7:00Speaker 2: after its long tail feathers that make up twenty five
- 7:02Speaker 2: percent of a drake's body length. The correct answer was
- 7:05Speaker 2: what max do you want the What was the answer?
- 7:10Speaker 1: Old squad?
- 7:11Speaker 2: The correct answer was a northern pintail, but a few
- 7:14Speaker 2: listeners wrote in to point out that long tailed duck
- 7:17Speaker 2: should also be a correct answer. They do satisfy all
- 7:21Speaker 2: parts of the question. They're named after their long tail,
- 7:24Speaker 2: which makes up twenty seven to thirty nine percent of
- 7:26Speaker 2: their body length. So if you said long tailed duck,
- 7:29Speaker 2: which is formerly known as the old squad duck, then
- 7:32Speaker 2: you got that one correct. Well done. Did that change
- 7:35Speaker 2: that Nobody in the room said long tailed duck, so
- 7:39Speaker 2: it would only changed the outcome for our listeners at HATCHA,
- 7:43Speaker 2: So go back, give yourself a point for that question.
- 7:45Speaker 2: I didn't think pintel Yeah, all right. The Shelby index
- 7:49Speaker 2: for today is a three point five, so our winners
- 7:51Speaker 2: should get seven correct answers. And with that we're onto
- 7:55Speaker 2: the game of trivia. Play the drop pill light.
- 8:00Speaker 3: It's not working.
- 8:01Speaker 2: It's okay, use your imagination. Usually the light flickers. Everything
- 8:08Speaker 2: failed us right. When we have guests in town. It's
- 8:11Speaker 2: on far of my day's going, you know, suckers. Question one,
- 8:17Speaker 2: the topic is hunting. This will be multiple choice, and
- 8:20Speaker 2: this first great question is via Matthew Stilver. Which of
- 8:24Speaker 2: these states harvest the most deer? Is it Georgia, Kansas,
- 8:29Speaker 2: Ohio or South Carolina? Of these states, which one harvests
- 8:37Speaker 2: the most deer? Georgia, Kansas, Ohio, South Carolina. The room
- 8:43Speaker 2: is thinking hard about this one. No quick answers, but
- 8:46Speaker 2: Brody now has one. Brody, how do you feel about
- 8:50Speaker 2: your answer? Okay? Of these states, which one harvests the
- 8:55Speaker 2: most deer? Georgia, Kansas, Ohio, South Carolina? Maxwell, do you
- 9:06Speaker 2: have an answer?
- 9:08Speaker 3: I do not.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Okay, we're waiting on.
- 9:10Speaker 3: Are you right?
- 9:12Speaker 2: Brody is observing?
- 9:13Speaker 3: I like that answer.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Max.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Maggie, do you have an answer? Is it because I
- 9:17Speaker 2: got it ready?
- 9:17Speaker 5: Because I got it wrong?
- 9:19Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Sarah saying Georgia.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Kate says South Carolina, Lake, South Carolina, Tony, South Carolina, Maggie, Kansas, Randall, Ohio, Max, Ohio, Brody, Ohio.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Every state was represented in our room. The correct answer
- 9:41Speaker 2: is Georgia. Only Sarah got that one right. According to
- 9:46Speaker 2: Oddex data from twenty twenty two, Georgia harvest one point
- 9:50Speaker 2: two million deer each year. It's followed by Ohio at
- 9:54Speaker 2: eight hundred thousand, South Carolina at seven hundred thousand, and
- 9:57Speaker 2: Kansas at six hundred thousand. So je harvest almost as
- 10:01Speaker 2: many deer as South Carolina and Kansas combined. Question two,
- 10:06Speaker 2: the topic is fishing. Rapaula says, this medical instrument is
- 10:11Speaker 2: quote an indispensable tool to have at your side on
- 10:16Speaker 2: the water. It's a quote from Rapaula. They say, this
- 10:21Speaker 2: medical instrument is an indispensable tool to have at your
- 10:25Speaker 2: side on the water. Brody, do you have this one right?
- 10:28Speaker 2: Tony looks confident as well. Tony. Do you have one
- 10:31Speaker 2: of these in your boat?
- 10:32Speaker 1: Yes? I do.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Okay, do you have one of these in your boat? Brody?
- 10:36Speaker 2: Boat bag boat bag? Okay, post there's one in there somewhere,
- 10:40Speaker 2: all right, Rpaula says, this medical instrument is an indispensable
- 10:43Speaker 2: tool to have at your side on the water. The
- 10:47Speaker 2: room looks confident on this one. Maybe not so much,
- 10:49Speaker 2: Randal Randall, do you have this one right? I don't know, Okay,
- 10:55Speaker 2: just whatever?
- 11:00Speaker 9: Four hot dogs before noon today.
- 11:04Speaker 1: In like five minutes.
- 11:06Speaker 3: It's pretty impressive.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Alex Jones, when he was at court, he gave an
- 11:09Speaker 2: excuse about not remembering one of his children's birthday because
- 11:12Speaker 2: he said he ate a big old bowl of chili
- 11:14Speaker 2: that day. His brain was in a chili fog, which
- 11:19Speaker 2: Randal is experiencing the hot dog fog.
- 11:22Speaker 5: Had two ideas for an answer on this.
- 11:24Speaker 2: One, not sweat the spelling and just get something downs,
- 11:31Speaker 2: wrote something down, and he raced twice. Now Mencer's very lenient.
- 11:37Speaker 2: We are pretty leanient, Paula says. This medical instrument is
- 11:41Speaker 2: an indispensable tool to have at your side on the water.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Is everybody ready go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 11:50Speaker 2: have Sarah saying four SEPs. Kate says he mistat uh
- 11:55Speaker 2: Lake and Tony say four SAPs. Maggie says he mustats Randall,
- 12:01Speaker 2: and Max and Brody say four steps. They got it.
- 12:04Speaker 2: The correct answer is fourceps. Is there a different has
- 12:10Speaker 2: curved I think they have curved blades?
- 12:12Speaker 1: Come on, give them.
- 12:16Speaker 4: Right.
- 12:16Speaker 3: I was gonna write down needle nose.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Would you.
- 12:22Speaker 2: We'll give you, We'll give you.
- 12:24Speaker 7: I call them hemus steps.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Does it have a curved end?
- 12:26Speaker 3: Ones?
- 12:28Speaker 2: Is the manufacturer to call it that?
- 12:30Speaker 6: Well?
- 12:30Speaker 7: I don't have brand.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Shot and they were labeled hemos. Did they have a
- 12:36Speaker 2: curved blade on them? We'll take either answer. Four steps
- 12:41Speaker 2: have hinged handles that control two blades or tongs. They
- 12:45Speaker 2: are used in the medical field to grasp and hold objects.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Anglers use them to remove hooks from fish and sometimes themselves.
- 12:53Speaker 2: Question three. The topic is wildlife. This next great question.
- 12:57Speaker 2: This is our Listener Question the Week, which was won
- 12:59Speaker 2: by Brendan for sending this great question. Brendan is going
- 13:02Speaker 2: to get a board game signed by the crew. If
- 13:04Speaker 2: you want a chance to win our Listener Question the Week,
- 13:06Speaker 2: then send your question to Trivia at the meadeater dot com.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Often used to display taxidermy in museums, this seven letter
- 13:14Speaker 2: word is defined as a life size exhibit with realistic
- 13:19Speaker 2: natural surroundings and a painted background. Oh my God, says
- 13:26Speaker 2: question three. The topic is wildlife. Often used to display
- 13:31Speaker 2: taxidermy in museums, this seven letter word is defined as quote,
- 13:36Speaker 2: a life size exhibit with realistic natural surroundings and a
- 13:41Speaker 2: painted background. Randal our only player with an answer, Sarah
- 13:45Speaker 2: as well, Sarah, you have this one right?
- 13:48Speaker 4: I believe so?
- 13:49Speaker 2: Yeah, Randal, you have this one right?
- 13:51Speaker 3: I believe so.
- 13:52Speaker 2: God. It's seven letter word, defined as a life size
- 13:56Speaker 2: exhibit with realistic natural surroundings and a painted background. Mm hmmm, Lake,
- 14:04Speaker 2: you have an answer? Do you like your answer?
- 14:07Speaker 3: The letter count matches up. But that's the thing. I'm
- 14:09Speaker 3: confident that's.
- 14:11Speaker 5: Where I'm at.
- 14:12Speaker 7: Buddy, I've heard I've heard.
- 14:13Speaker 4: It called that before, but I'm like that dude, that
- 14:15Speaker 4: was not technical when he called it that.
- 14:17Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Okay, we'll see his question three. Often used to display
- 14:24Speaker 2: taxidermy in museums, this seven letter word is defined as
- 14:28Speaker 2: a life size exhibit with realistic natural surroundings and a
- 14:33Speaker 2: painted background. Brody is stumped. He thinks it's his humunculous
- 14:39Speaker 2: knows it.
- 14:41Speaker 5: I can think of as the last three letters.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Okay.
- 14:46Speaker 3: If if it's what I'm thinking.
- 14:50Speaker 1: I have no idea. I have an answer.
- 14:53Speaker 7: I have an answer, and I'm pretty sure it's wrong
- 14:56Speaker 7: where I'm.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Everybody ready, go ahead and reveal your answers. We have
- 15:02Speaker 2: Sarah saying diorama, Case says diorama, Lake says habitat, Tony
- 15:08Speaker 2: says diama, Maggie display Randal diroma, Max says aquarium. Brody
- 15:15Speaker 2: without an answer, The correct answer is Dima, well done room.
- 15:22Speaker 2: The first diorama depicting a natural habitat was made by
- 15:26Speaker 2: painter and taxidermist Carl Aickley in eighteen eighty nine. It
- 15:30Speaker 2: was featured in New York's American Museum of Natural History.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Blending artistic skill with scientific accuracy. His goal was to
- 15:38Speaker 2: captivate audiences and raise awareness about the importance of habitat
- 15:42Speaker 2: conservation Question four. The topic is conservation. A blank cascade
- 15:50Speaker 2: is the indirect species interaction that originates with predators and
- 15:55Speaker 2: spreads downward through food webs.
- 15:58Speaker 4: I told you.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Brody and Randall already have their answer. A blank cascade
- 16:05Speaker 2: is the indirect species interaction that originates with predators and
- 16:09Speaker 2: spreads downward through food webs.
- 16:13Speaker 5: Spencer, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that last
- 16:16Speaker 5: two weeks ago, I was at the Wonders of Wildlife Museum, Springfield, Missouri.
- 16:21Speaker 5: Incredible dioramas.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Do they incredible diarbe that they do them?
- 16:25Speaker 1: Well?
- 16:25Speaker 2: Was it all? Was it all game animals? What did
- 16:27Speaker 2: they have?
- 16:27Speaker 5: Give me some examples, I mean all types. Like there's
- 16:32Speaker 5: one room that just has every sheep and goat species
- 16:35Speaker 5: from around the world on this big mountain background up
- 16:38Speaker 5: on the rocks, and it progresses through like morning light, daylight, sunset, dark.
- 16:48Speaker 5: Really just a breath taking museum.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Denver's Museum, their Museum of Natural History, I think that's
- 16:54Speaker 2: what all is called. They have some great dioramas as well.
- 16:59Speaker 2: They have some Easter eggs in theirs they painted in
- 17:03Speaker 2: their background, some trolls that you're supposed to look for.
- 17:05Speaker 2: I think each one of them has a troll somewhere
- 17:08Speaker 2: painted there. So if you're at the Denver Museum in
- 17:11Speaker 2: natural history, keep your eyes peeled for those. A blank
- 17:14Speaker 2: cascade is the indirect species interaction that originates with predators
- 17:18Speaker 2: and spreads downward through food webs. This is question four.
- 17:22Speaker 2: Is everybody ready, Max go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 17:29Speaker 2: We have Sarah saying subsidence, Kate says trophic lake, says trophic,
- 17:36Speaker 2: Tony says trophic, Maggie and Randall say trophic, Max says common,
- 17:41Speaker 2: Brody says trophic. The correct answer is trophic. Trophic cascades
- 17:46Speaker 2: can occur when you add or remove a top predator
- 17:49Speaker 2: from the food chain. Some examples include sea otters and
- 17:53Speaker 2: kelp forests, vultures and rabies, and most famously, wolves and
- 17:57Speaker 2: beavers in Yellowstone National Park.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Wasn't that one debunk though?
- 18:02Speaker 2: I think, yeah, I think there's some disagreement, and I
- 18:05Speaker 2: think the modern take is that it's it's not necessarily
- 18:10Speaker 2: that cute and simple that wolves show up, and then
- 18:13Speaker 2: willows grow, and then beaver's return. Run to question five.
- 18:17Speaker 2: The topic is hunting. This next great question is via
- 18:20Speaker 2: Heather Booth.
- 18:20Speaker 3: I need to pick it up.
- 18:22Speaker 2: According to quail Forever, this species of quail has the
- 18:26Speaker 2: largest distribution in North America.
- 18:30Speaker 1: This feels like a trick.
- 18:32Speaker 2: It could. According to quail forever, this species of quail
- 18:36Speaker 2: has the largest distribution in North America. Tony has declared
- 18:40Speaker 2: it to be a trick. It's Brodie, you get to
- 18:43Speaker 2: write down an.
- 18:44Speaker 8: Answer, Caitlin, I have never seen somebody write down in
- 18:48Speaker 8: answer as quickly as you did for that last question.
- 18:50Speaker 8: I thought that white was gonna fly out of your hand.
- 18:54Speaker 8: You brought it to your face so fast.
- 18:56Speaker 2: I think it is a trick. According to quail Forever,
- 19:00Speaker 2: for this species of quail has the largest distribution in
- 19:03Speaker 2: North America, and it feels like a trick. We will

- 20:26Speaker 2: high elevation breeding habitats each year.
- 20:29Speaker 3: That was a I could not afford to miss that one.
- 20:34Speaker 2: There scaled scale blue gambles, I think all of Mexico.
- 20:41Speaker 2: In our pre show banter we had Lake talk about
- 20:44Speaker 2: the Bob white quail, so that was just a coincidence.
- 20:47Speaker 3: Would have been real missed that one.
- 20:49Speaker 5: I hope it was.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Phil.
- 20:52Speaker 2: We're halfway through the game of trivia. Give us a
- 20:54Speaker 2: scoreboard update.
- 20:57Speaker 3: It's been a pretty good game, geez Max.
- 21:01Speaker 9: Despite your declaration that Spencer invites you every week for
- 21:04Speaker 9: comic relief, that's just not true. But you do at
- 21:07Speaker 9: one point last place. Brody's coming out next with two points,
- 21:15Speaker 9: but he is.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Handsome, trying really hard, classic looking, well dressed, nice voice.
- 21:24Speaker 9: Lake and Maggie are with three points, and we've got

- 22:05Speaker 2: Hatch is a synonym for this word, which is defined
- 22:08Speaker 2: as a group of young birds that were all born
- 22:11Speaker 2: at the same time. Randall has now joined them with

- 22:18Speaker 5: I hope so, given how type this game.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Is spencer four players with four points. Hatch is a

- 35:38Speaker 6: I'm in the same boat as Tony.
- 35:40Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it's everybody ready. Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 35:46Speaker 2: We have Sarah saying Washington. Kate says Washington. Oh No,
- 35:51Speaker 2: Lake says Maine. Tony says Orgon. Maggie says Washington, Randall
- 35:57Speaker 2: says Oregon. Max says Washington, Brody says Washington. Oh boy,
- 36:03Speaker 2: the correct answer is California.
- 36:06Speaker 4: No one.
- 36:09Speaker 2: Right, Oh geez. The Patterson Gimlin film is considered the
- 36:16Speaker 2: most famous footage of Bigfoot that exists. It supposedly shows
- 36:20Speaker 2: a female Sasquatch walking along Bluff Creek that's located thirty
- 36:24Speaker 2: eight miles south of Oregon in eighteen miles east of
- 36:27Speaker 2: the Pacific Ocean. In nineteen ninety eight, a man came
- 36:30Speaker 2: forward and confessed he was the person in the Bigfoot costume,
- 36:33Speaker 2: and in two thousand and two another man went public
- 36:36Speaker 2: saying he created the gorilla suit, but Bob Gimlin denies
- 36:39Speaker 2: that the film was a hoax. Here is a remastered
- 36:42Speaker 2: version of that footage. Take it away film. That is
- 36:48Speaker 2: the Paterson Gimlin footage from nineteen sixty seven.
- 36:52Speaker 3: It straight up, just a dude, it's I don't know
- 36:57Speaker 3: what you're talking about. Man, it looks legit.
- 37:00Speaker 2: All right, we're going to overtime, play the drop phill.
- 37:04Speaker 9: Time I got the lights now.
- 37:06Speaker 5: This is one of those two scenarios I mentioned.
- 37:09Speaker 4: If you ain't last and then like going to other stuff.
- 37:12Speaker 2: It's funny.
- 37:12Speaker 1: I never liked it a phil off Man.
- 37:16Speaker 2: The tie breaking topic is hunting, and this will be
- 37:19Speaker 2: a numerical question. However, is closest between Tony and Randall
- 37:25Speaker 2: will be declared the winner. But the rest of the
- 37:27Speaker 2: room is going to play along as well, because if
- 37:28Speaker 2: somebody gets it right on the nose meat eater will
- 37:31Speaker 2: add an extra one hundred dollars to the donation at
- 37:34Speaker 2: the end of the game. What is the average grain
- 37:38Speaker 2: weight of thirty odd six Springfield AMMO? That's available at
- 37:42Speaker 2: best pro shops. Average average this. I looked at sixty
- 37:47Speaker 2: three offerings that they have and I took the average
- 37:50Speaker 2: grain weight.
- 37:53Speaker 5: So you're not looking for a specific bullet weight. You're
- 37:56Speaker 5: looking for just if you add all those up.
- 37:58Speaker 2: And then divided by sixty three.
- 38:00Speaker 5: Gotcha, Yes, that's a weird way of doing it.
- 38:04Speaker 2: What is the average the mode of thirty odd six
- 38:08Speaker 2: Springfield ammo?
- 38:09Speaker 3: This is more fun.
- 38:10Speaker 2: It's available at bass pro shops. Getting down to Tony
- 38:14Speaker 2: and Randall, who both have seven correct answers, they nailed
- 38:17Speaker 2: the Shelby index, but the rest of the room is
- 38:20Speaker 2: playing along as well. Tony doesn't kill a lot of
- 38:25Speaker 2: things with a rifle. What what cartridge do you use
- 38:28Speaker 2: when you do?
- 38:29Speaker 6: Though?
- 38:30Speaker 2: Uh, you seem like a thirty odd six man.
- 38:34Speaker 1: I don't have a thirty odd six.
- 38:35Speaker 8: I have a three to eight and a two forty three,
- 38:37Speaker 8: and I am very light on rifle kills.
- 38:40Speaker 2: It's so so your daughters can shoot those guns as well.
- 38:43Speaker 1: Right right, that's right right.
- 38:46Speaker 2: Randall, on the other hand, I imagine he owns just
- 38:48Speaker 2: a full gun case of thirty odd sixes.
- 38:51Speaker 5: I've actually never owned a thirty odds.
- 38:52Speaker 2: One now, okay, shame on, yeah, un american. What is
- 38:59Speaker 2: the average grain weight of thirty on six springfield animal
- 39:03Speaker 2: that's available at bass pro shops? And this was looking
- 39:05Speaker 2: at sixty three of their offerings. Tony very quick to answer,
- 39:14Speaker 2: he's not going to revisit his wife board and he's
- 39:16Speaker 2: going with his gut on this one.
- 39:19Speaker 1: And math is really my strong suit. So I think
- 39:21Speaker 1: I got this, okay.
- 39:22Speaker 6: I like how Randall was like, are we talking mean
- 39:24Speaker 6: media or mode? And Tony's like, I don't even know
- 39:26Speaker 6: what those words are.
- 39:29Speaker 8: I just thought it was the smallest one I could
- 39:31Speaker 8: think of and the biggest.
- 39:32Speaker 2: And here you go, fricking okay with the difference, And
- 39:35Speaker 2: now Randall has gone back to his Then I.
- 39:36Speaker 1: Added five, right, I don't know why.
- 39:39Speaker 2: Is everybody ready? Go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 39:44Speaker 2: have Sarah saying two oh five, Kate says one to seventy,
- 39:49Speaker 2: Lake says one thirty, Tony says one fifty five, Maggie
- 39:53Speaker 2: says one forty three. Randall says one sixty six. Max
- 39:58Speaker 2: says one twenty three. Brody says one seventy. Somebody has
- 40:04Speaker 2: it right on the nose.
- 40:07Speaker 3: Wait for it to be me.
- 40:09Speaker 2: The correct answer is one hundred sixty six grain. After
- 40:16Speaker 2: disliking the question and never owning a thirty odd six,
- 40:19Speaker 2: somehow put it right on the money to be specific,
- 40:22Speaker 2: one sixty six point three.
- 40:24Speaker 5: My goodness, an.
- 40:26Speaker 2: Extra one hundred dollars donation at the end of the game.
- 40:30Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 40:31Speaker 2: There are sixty three offerings of thirty odd six AMO
- 40:35Speaker 2: at bass Pro. The most common are one hundred and
- 40:37Speaker 2: fifty grain, one hundred eighty grain, and one hundred sixty
- 40:40Speaker 2: five grain. The lightest is one hundred twenty five grain,
- 40:44Speaker 2: and the heaviest is two hundred twenty grain. Randa, what
- 40:47Speaker 2: are you gonna do with your six hundred dollars donation today?
- 40:51Speaker 2: One sixty six? That's that's very impressive. How would you
- 40:54Speaker 2: arrive at that number?
- 40:55Speaker 5: Well, I went from one sixty three to one sixty
- 40:57Speaker 5: six there, uh figure at the high we're looking at
- 41:00Speaker 5: one eighties. Low end, we're looking at like a one
- 41:02Speaker 5: to fifty one fifty five grain. I figured the actual
- 41:06Speaker 5: the mode was probably round one sixty five, and then
- 41:10Speaker 5: I just I'm sure there's a one seventy eight grain
- 41:13Speaker 5: mixed in there. I think Quaranty's Precision Hunters loaded one
- 41:17Speaker 5: sixty eight grain in the thirty at six.
- 41:18Speaker 2: So anyway, six hundred dollars donators, I like my six.
- 41:21Speaker 5: Hundred dollars donation to go towards backcountry hunters and anglers because,
- 41:26Speaker 5: as we all know, there's a lot of really stupid,
- 41:29Speaker 5: stupid things being proposed by stupid, bad people when it
- 41:34Speaker 5: comes to our public lands. And I know Cal has
- 41:38Speaker 5: been beating the drum and he hasn't been sleeping well lately.
- 41:40Speaker 3: So maybe with.
- 41:41Speaker 5: Another six hundred dollars in the war chest at BHA
- 41:44Speaker 5: can ease his mind. He can ease his mind a
- 41:46Speaker 5: little bit.
- 41:47Speaker 2: Six hundred dollars. H fight in the good fight. Thanks
