- 0:23chickens. Hey everybody.
- 0:29Good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31So I want to ask you a question. How much do you think you're
- 0:35sacrificing yourself every day for your job?
- 0:40Your family, your, you know, your whatever it might be in
- 0:45your world? How much do you think you're
- 0:46sacrificing yourself and is that a bad thing?
- 0:52The question came up with a client recently about how her
- 0:56belief is that she's constantly sacrificing herself for her
- 1:00husband and her children, and her boss and she never ever
- 1:04takes care of herself and my perspective was to ask her.
- 1:11The question, what's the reason that you do that?
- 1:14What's the reason that you believe you're sacrificing
- 1:18yourself? Not just the fact that she is
- 1:21doing it. But what's the reason she
- 1:22believes? She is doing that because
- 1:24there's a big difference. Is she actually doing that or
- 1:27does she just believe she's doing that?
- 1:29And how you know, when you're sacrificing yourself, how do you
- 1:32know when you're not sacrificing yourself?
- 1:35Well, it all comes back to our guiding principles of emotions,
- 1:38right? What our emotions are teaching
- 1:39us information. They are giving us is to help us
- 1:43guide us and to move us closer, or further away from the actions
- 1:47we're doing in order to get the That we eventually want to be
- 1:50and most of the time. So to ask you the question do
- 1:56you think you're sacrificing yourself and if so what does
- 2:00that mean? Is that something that makes you
- 2:02happy? Because again it's all about
- 2:04perspective on it. So if I sacrifice some of my
- 2:08personal time to spend with my child, is that something that I
- 2:13have to feel resentful about? Well only, if I feel like I'm
- 2:17sacrificing it And it's causing me pain.
- 2:20Then I have to go to a place of saying.
- 2:23Well, you know what, I don't feel good about this.
- 2:27But if I do it and I say, I sacrifice this time with him,
- 2:30but I absolutely love and enjoy it and I'm grateful for the fact
- 2:34that I get to do that because I know I won't have him forever.
- 2:38He's 13 and I know he's going to eventually have a girlfriend and
- 2:43a wife, and a life and move on. So I don't look at Time that I
- 2:50spend with him now, as something that's taking away from me and
- 2:55what I'm doing. Because I appreciate the fact
- 2:57that I have this guiding force inside of me that says, I can
- 3:03spend time doing things, physically, and gain gratitude,
- 3:10for it emotionally as to the outcomes.
- 3:13I don't look at working with my clients, the number of hours
- 3:17that I work with. My clients is a vice from my
- 3:21personal time or my family. I look at it like, it's a
- 3:23blessing that one I get to help people and to that, I have the
- 3:28ability to see it as a gift and ingratitude.
- 3:33But back to the question and so you can understand where I'm
- 3:38coming from. If you feel like something is
- 3:41constant sacrifice, then you feel like you're being ripped
- 3:44off. You feel like you're being
- 3:47ripped off then you can never get past the fact that you're
- 3:51starting out from a depleted level.
- 3:54And if you're starting off something in depletion, it just
- 3:59feels like crap. Every time you start that down
- 4:02that road. So if you walk into work
- 4:04everyday and you are saying to yourself, you know, I feel like
- 4:08I sacrifice myself coming here every day, and I feel like this
- 4:11and I feel like that even though they're paying you right there,
- 4:13they've agreed to give you money and you.
- 4:15Your trading your time for money.
- 4:17So you entered into this agreement, whatever money you're
- 4:20getting, whether it's a salary or hourly, you have agreed to
- 4:23trade time for money. So are you really sacrificing
- 4:26yourself because you agreed to it, and it's a great simple
- 4:30thing to just start there because that's where the
- 4:32beginning of it all started, they offered you something.
- 4:34You accepted it and you're doing it.
- 4:37Point one point two is you're making an emotional connection
- 4:42and attachment to it. If you're being in the state of
- 4:46I'm sacrificing myself for this job, I hate this job.
- 4:50I feel like I come here every day and a little piece of me
- 4:52dies, I understand that the job might suck and it might not be
- 4:56what they told you but you still have the ability to change that.
- 5:01Nobody else can change it for you.
- 5:03You can decide. I want to go somewhere else.
- 5:05I want to do something else and maybe, That's the lesson in
- 5:09this. Maybe that's what you're
- 5:11supposed to be doing. Maybe you're supposed to be
- 5:12figuring out something else for yourself.
- 5:14And the pain is the here to teach you something.
- 5:17And it's not just about you sacrificing yourself.
- 5:21It's about you learning that you've got to go beyond it but
- 5:25nobody can answer those questions.
- 5:26But you the point of this conversation is if you believe
- 5:30that you're sacrificing yourself any every day, are there
- 5:34moments, which we all have to, like, give a little bit of
- 5:36ourselves and we Have to say, oh, you know, that sure those
- 5:39happen. But if your predominant state is
- 5:42that of sacrificing yourself, It's not about the thing or the
- 5:47person or anything else, it's about you and your perspective,
- 5:51and you taking responsibility and changing your own mindset
- 5:55and your own situation because nobody can else can do either
- 5:57for you. Nobody else can make you get a
- 5:59different job. Nobody else can change your
- 6:01mind. It's all an internal job and if
- 6:03you're starting from sacrifice, you're already starting in a
- 6:06place of depletion. So I'm going to challenge you to
- 6:09go and look and say, you know, my really sacrificing myself
- 6:12every day or is this just an Raymond I've entered into and
- 6:16I've become complacent about it now.
- 6:17I'm angry about it and now I'm just I got to get out of it.
- 6:20That might be more accurate than you're sacrificing yourself
- 6:23every day. And when you get clear on it,
- 6:27then you can change it. Otherwise, you'll just be angry
- 6:29and you'll do nothing. So hopefully you guys will be
- 6:33able to take some wisdom from this and go out and shift, any
- 6:37situations that are not working for you, any longer and move
- 6:40forward. I hope you guys have a very
- 6:42blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 6:44Oh,
