- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from KFI AM
- 0:04Speaker 1: six forty.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Autism in your dog. Now, I don't know what an
- 0:15Speaker 2: autistic dog looks like. Maybe it looks down at the ground,
- 0:18Speaker 2: doesn't bark, doesn't talk. By the way, autism does not
- 0:20Speaker 2: exist in any species other than humans. When you have
- 0:24Speaker 2: a movement that says they're concerned about autism in dogs
- 0:28Speaker 2: and cats, you've just reached crazy to a level that
- 0:33Speaker 2: is almost incomprehensible.
- 0:35Speaker 1: And now Handle on the news, ladies and gentlemen, here's
- 0:40Speaker 1: Bill Handle.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Bill Handle here on a Wednesday morning, homday, October twenty nine.
- 1:01Speaker 2: And we started another day another dollar, except we worked
- 1:06Speaker 2: for ihearts with another eighty three cents. And good morning
- 1:10Speaker 2: to the crowd. And good morning, Good morning, Bill, good morning.
- 1:16Speaker 2: And we are moving the eight o'clock hour till tomorrow.
- 1:20Speaker 2: And I'll explain tomorrow. Why are eight o'clock segment all right?
- 1:24Speaker 2: And so we had to find something else, and we
- 1:26Speaker 2: found something else actually was cono and that is a
- 1:30Speaker 2: comet that's approaching Earth won't be hitting Earth, and it
- 1:35Speaker 2: may very well be alien technology, says a professor at Harvard.
- 1:42Speaker 2: So we'll do that today at eight o'clock. All right, Cono,
- 1:45Speaker 2: you came up with the topic. Good morning to you,
- 1:48Speaker 2: all right, and Neil morning for you're doing alien stuff now,
- 1:54Speaker 2: of course we are.
- 1:55Speaker 1: I like alien stuff.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Oh no, alien stuff is all real though, yeah, no,
- 2:01Speaker 2: it is absolutely real.
- 2:03Speaker 1: I can't see Will is he around? I'm here. I
- 2:05Speaker 1: just I'm having issues with my zoom thing.
- 2:09Speaker 2: But I mean, yeah, okay, because today I'm brought today,
- 2:12Speaker 2: I'm broadcasting from home and we they're well, anyway, we've
- 2:16Speaker 2: talked about that before. And finally there is the lovely
- 2:21Speaker 2: Amy who was it was actually wearing the wrong color
- 2:24Speaker 2: blue this morning, aren't you?
- 2:28Speaker 3: No, yes, you're saying I should be wearing blue Jays blue.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Well, let's just say that the what is it fair
- 2:36Speaker 2: to say the wrong color blue?
- 2:38Speaker 1: One? Last night?
- 2:41Speaker 3: The wrong the wrong blue one? Yeah, the wrong blue.
- 2:45Speaker 3: That's okay. We're all tied up at four and four.
- 2:47Speaker 3: It's now a three game series. We're good to go
- 2:49Speaker 3: playing again tonight.
- 2:50Speaker 1: I'll tell you who is thrilled if they go seven.
- 2:53Speaker 2: We've got a few people here at KFI who are
- 2:56Speaker 2: like beyond man.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:59Speaker 2: The sales manager, oh yeah, and the salespeople are frothing
- 3:03Speaker 2: at the mouth.
- 3:04Speaker 1: You walk around the floor and what.
- 3:07Speaker 2: You see is salespeople look like they just brush their
- 3:10Speaker 2: teeth with their mouth frothing, and or they have Rabi's.
- 3:15Speaker 2: It's one of the two. I have absolutely no idea. Okay,
- 3:18Speaker 2: it could be both. I've met our sales team.
- 3:22Speaker 1: It could be both.
- 3:23Speaker 2: So Amy, I defer to you when it comes to
- 3:26Speaker 2: all things Dodgers. Okay, the next games, tell us or
- 3:31Speaker 2: tell me where the next games are going to be played,
- 3:33Speaker 2: assuming it goes to game seven.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Well, tonight is game five. It's a Dodger stadium, Okay.
- 3:39Speaker 3: And then the action shifts back because there has to
- 3:42Speaker 3: be a game six now because nobody can take it
- 3:44Speaker 3: in five. So the next Game six is going to
- 3:48Speaker 3: be on Halloween night in Toronto, and then there's Game
- 3:50Speaker 3: seven after that if needed, hopefully we won't need.
- 3:53Speaker 1: It, and that will be where in Toronto? Okay.
- 3:56Speaker 2: So the Dodgers will not be able to win the
- 4:00Speaker 2: World Series at home field.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Correct. Oh that's a shame. So the only.
- 4:04Speaker 2: People you will see cheering and screaming and hugging are
- 4:08Speaker 2: the guys on the team.
- 4:10Speaker 3: No, there's Dodger fans who go to Toronto.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Really, Yeah, well, let me ask you.
- 4:15Speaker 2: If you're a Dodger fan and you stand up and
- 4:19Speaker 2: start screaming in the stands if the Dodgers win, how
- 4:24Speaker 2: much longer do you think you're going to be alive.
- 4:26Speaker 3: It's not a problem because it's in Toronto and the
- 4:29Speaker 3: Canadians are really nice.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Oh yeah, corr boot they're nice to boot everything.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Yes, that's true. They're not crazy.
- 4:36Speaker 2: They're not soccer fans in Europe where they're completely nuts.
- 4:40Speaker 2: You know the Great Oath, there's that wonderful story, and
- 4:43Speaker 2: it's true about that referee in I think it was
- 4:47Speaker 2: Columbia who made the wrong call and the wrong team won.
- 4:52Speaker 1: And you can look this up.
- 4:54Speaker 2: The fans went onto the field, they rushed the field
- 4:57Speaker 2: and beat him to death.
- 4:59Speaker 1: No, look it up. Look it up. Referee yep, referee field.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Overrun, beat to death and you will see how crazy
- 5:12Speaker 2: fans are. And I'm not certain it was Columbia, but
- 5:16Speaker 2: I think it was South America. And uh, while I'm
- 5:20Speaker 2: waiting for and to do that.
- 5:21Speaker 4: Dude, I'm not saying that would happen here on the field,
- 5:24Speaker 4: but maybe in the parking lot.
- 5:26Speaker 1: That's true.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Thing of that on the Dodgers line now, Amy, you
- 5:28Speaker 2: still looking no?
- 5:34Speaker 5: Okay, well we're going to take your word on that one.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Yeah. It goes to show you how much influence I
- 5:40Speaker 2: have on this show.
- 5:41Speaker 5: All right, this does mean that the world series will
- 5:43Speaker 5: be one uh not.
- 5:46Speaker 3: Here out of the US.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Right, that's the whole point I'm making. Yes, thanks for listening. Okay,
- 5:52Speaker 2: are we ready.
- 5:53Speaker 1: To do it?
- 5:54Speaker 5: I'm sorry, mister Colebot you so what exactly?
- 5:57Speaker 1: All right?
- 5:58Speaker 2: Time for handle on the news on this Wednesday morning,
- 6:01Speaker 2: October twenty nine, with Neil Savedra Amy wearing unfortunately Dodger
- 6:08Speaker 2: blue and she's wearing the right colors, wrong color. Last night,
- 6:11Speaker 2: there's Will, Good morning, Will, Good morning, all right. Lead story. Well,
- 6:18Speaker 2: twenty five states, about half the states, or almost exactly
- 6:22Speaker 2: half the states, as a matter of fact, half the
- 6:24Speaker 2: states and the District of Columbia sued the Trump administration
- 6:28Speaker 2: over the suspension of food stamp benefits. The people who
- 6:34Speaker 2: do receive food stamps have been told ain't gonna happen,
- 6:38Speaker 2: and the states are suing, and you know why they're suing.
- 6:42Speaker 1: They're suing this. There is money available.
- 6:45Speaker 2: There are emergency funds available at least through mid November
- 6:52Speaker 2: to pay and the administration saying no.
- 6:55Speaker 1: So what this has become is a political.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Football of gargains in proportions, where the Democrats and the
- 7:04Speaker 2: Republicans are just it's apples to oranges.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Someone's got a cave either.
- 7:10Speaker 2: The Democrats are going to go ahead and allow the
- 7:13Speaker 2: Republicans they're continuing resolution, kicking the can down the road
- 7:18Speaker 2: a few weeks only maybe where government still runs the
- 7:22Speaker 2: way it used to run and nothing is added.
- 7:25Speaker 1: There are some things, but they're fairly minor.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Or the Republicans cave and they go, Okay, we'll negotiate,
- 7:34Speaker 2: will allow food stamps, will allow those programs that we've cut,
- 7:38Speaker 2: because so many social programs have been cut, and emergency
- 7:42Speaker 2: funds have been used for programs that the president wants,
- 7:47Speaker 2: for example, border control and other programs. So clearly, clearly
- 7:52Speaker 2: the Democrats of the Republicans may be farther apart than before.
- 7:57Speaker 2: And the problem is people in need food stamps, millions
- 8:00Speaker 2: and millions of them are going to be in real
- 8:03Speaker 2: trouble because the economy is not doing well for those people.
- 8:08Speaker 2: And what's interesting is the states that back up Trump
- 8:11Speaker 2: are the ones that are going to be most affected
- 8:13Speaker 2: with the food stamp issue that I find fascinating.
- 8:17Speaker 1: The states where more people are.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Going to not eat are the states that are not
- 8:22Speaker 2: pushing for this.
- 8:25Speaker 5: Is there a limit on these things at them for
- 8:28Speaker 5: a couple three years food stamps and stuff like that.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Well, you can the legislature can vote that into place. Yeah,
- 8:34Speaker 2: but emergency funds that are available legally right now, even
- 8:38Speaker 2: with the shutdown or the government, the government can in
- 8:43Speaker 2: fact pass out these food stamps at least for a
- 8:45Speaker 2: few more weeks, and doesn't want to do it because
- 8:48Speaker 2: of the political fight that's going on. I don't think
- 8:50Speaker 2: the Trump administration wants people to starve.
- 8:54Speaker 1: I think.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Let me put it this way, No, I don't think so.
- 8:57Speaker 2: I don't think they wake up in the morning. See
- 8:59Speaker 2: let me see how many people to starve this morning.
- 9:01Speaker 2: But I think that the political differences are so great
- 9:05Speaker 2: that people who have to eat or falling by the wayside.
- 9:09Speaker 1: That I believe.
- 9:10Speaker 3: Something else that might be falling to the wayside, or
- 9:14Speaker 3: though we're hoping that it doesn't is there's some problems
- 9:18Speaker 3: with the ceasefire in Israel, and that is that Israel
- 9:22Speaker 3: is attacking Hamas again now Israel, says the Prime Minister
- 9:28Speaker 3: says that he ordered strikes in Gaza because of a
- 9:32Speaker 3: breach of the ceasefire agreement, and that was that Hamas
- 9:36Speaker 3: returns some remains of one of the hostages bodies, and
- 9:39Speaker 3: apparently it was part of the remains of a hostages
- 9:44Speaker 3: body that was returned two years ago. So they're saying
- 9:47Speaker 3: that they tried.
- 9:48Speaker 2: To Yeah, so that is enough of a breach where
- 9:53Speaker 2: the attacks happen. Again, what I find fascinating about Israel
- 9:57Speaker 2: is as Israel claims. Both sides are claiming that, of
- 10:01Speaker 2: course the violation is me and Korean on the other side.
- 10:04Speaker 2: First of all, I think Hamas is lying through its teeth.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Israel I think is lying through its teeth. Have you
- 10:12Speaker 2: noticed or not noticed that Israel as Israel claims the
- 10:16Speaker 2: attacks on Hamas, on its soldiers and violating for example,
- 10:22Speaker 2: the yellow zone or the green zone or the purple zone,
- 10:25Speaker 2: whatever it's called the line. I've never seen a video
- 10:30Speaker 2: of an attack by Hamas on Israeli soldiers or Israeli positions.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Have you. I've never seen that video, and you would
- 10:40Speaker 2: think they would be releasing those like crazy, proving that
- 10:44Speaker 2: the violations have occurred.
- 10:46Speaker 1: So who the hell do you believe on this one.
- 10:50Speaker 2: And in this case returning a body that they say
- 10:54Speaker 2: was Israeli, but they kept part of the body. As
- 10:57Speaker 2: Amy reported, that's enough to declare a violation of the
- 11:01Speaker 2: cease fire and start attacking again.
- 11:05Speaker 5: Man it Yeah, who wants to finish Absolutely?
- 11:10Speaker 2: Natanyahu wants to finish its goal in the hard right
- 11:13Speaker 2: in Israel, wants to establish or establish the position there
- 11:19Speaker 2: will be no palace in the in state.
- 11:21Speaker 1: It will not exist.
- 11:22Speaker 5: All right, all right, Border Patrol, you've got the US
- 11:26Speaker 5: Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino. He's like the face of
- 11:31Speaker 5: Operation Midway Blitz. This is what they call the crackdown
- 11:35Speaker 5: on legal immigration. Well, he's got a report daily now
- 11:40Speaker 5: to a federal judge because there were reports of combative enforcement.
- 11:45Speaker 5: The hearings part of this ongoing lawsuit brought by local
- 11:49Speaker 5: media organizations that say they're alleging that the federal agents
- 11:53Speaker 5: have violated prior court orders restricting their use of force
- 11:57Speaker 5: with things like you know, tier gas in the light.
- 12:02Speaker 3: Melissa has made a horrible mess. The hurricane, which was
- 12:06Speaker 3: a Category five yesterday when it hit Jamaica, has lessened
- 12:10Speaker 3: in strength some is still a Category three storm and
- 12:14Speaker 3: made a landfall on Cuba. Forecasters call it an extremely
- 12:18Speaker 3: dangerous Category three hurricane. Severe flooding has hit Cuba and
- 12:24Speaker 3: the storm did extensive damage to homes, hospitals, schools, and
- 12:27Speaker 3: whole communities in southwestern Jamaica. But apparently the full extent
- 12:31Speaker 3: of the damage is unclear because it's hard to get
- 12:34Speaker 3: to a lot of the areas. They were expecting up
- 12:37Speaker 3: to three feet of rain and we're expecting mudslides and
- 12:42Speaker 3: landslides and flooding. So we will see in the coming
- 12:45Speaker 3: days how bad it was.
- 12:47Speaker 5: They're saying that this was the worst storm in Jamaica's
- 12:51Speaker 5: modern history.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Yeah, that winds came ashore at one hundred and eighty
- 12:56Speaker 3: five miles an hour.
- 12:58Speaker 5: Well, when you think of that location, location that's bound
- 13:01Speaker 5: to be hit, to hear the you know, the hardest
- 13:05Speaker 5: one in modern history is a scary, scary thing to say. So,
- 13:09Speaker 5: as we talked about earlier World Series Game four, Blue
- 13:13Speaker 5: Jays beat the Dodgers series tied, and now they'll be
- 13:19Speaker 5: sending the defending champion Dodgers to their third loss in
- 13:23Speaker 5: fourteen games. In the post, Wait, no, what am I reading?
- 13:28Speaker 5: It might go?
- 13:29Speaker 3: I'm back, Yeah, it's probably the third loss in fourteen games,
- 13:32Speaker 3: but just their second loss in the World Series.
- 13:34Speaker 5: Yes, and this is what we said earlier that this
- 13:39Speaker 5: guaranteed rather World Series trophy will be won at Rogers Center,
- 13:43Speaker 5: which is the the big point that comes out of that.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm back, guys.
- 13:50Speaker 5: Really, we didn't know. We didn't even know you were gone.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Now here's what thank you. Here's what happened.
- 13:54Speaker 2: Is you know, between the break, I was making my
- 13:56Speaker 2: morning sandwich and the mustard jar draw and glass is
- 14:02Speaker 2: all over the place. So I have to pick up
- 14:04Speaker 2: the glass because the dogs walk in that area. So
- 14:08Speaker 2: this was not be just being late.
- 14:10Speaker 5: This is you being stupid, clumsy and late.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Yeah clumsy, Yeah, yeah, clumsy. I mean I just that
- 14:18Speaker 2: dropped and glass and mustard all over the place. So anyway,
- 14:24Speaker 2: thanks thanks for bringing this. No no, because you know,
- 14:27Speaker 2: usually I'm late because I'm just late. This one, there's
- 14:29Speaker 2: a legitimate excuse.
- 14:31Speaker 5: Okay, we'll take him under advisement.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Okay, I mean do that. You know, that's even to
- 14:36Speaker 1: the point where Anne called me.
- 14:37Speaker 2: I assume you heard the phone going off that was
- 14:39Speaker 2: you called him.
- 14:41Speaker 4: Yeah, and kind of goes. I can hear it ringing
- 14:44Speaker 4: in the studio. He's actually doesn't have it.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, all right, what story are we on?
- 14:49Speaker 1: By the way, well, we're done with the news.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Okay, we're done. We're done with the news. Let's start
- 14:55Speaker 2: our seven o'clock hour. What story are we on?
- 14:58Speaker 5: Six?
- 14:58Speaker 1: Okay?
- 15:00Speaker 3: Yeah, Apparently forks are for more than food. Flight from
- 15:05Speaker 3: Chicago to Frankfurt, Germany on Luftanza had to make an
- 15:10Speaker 3: emergency landing in Boston. Why because some idiot stabbed two
- 15:16Speaker 3: passengers with a metal fork. The two passengers were seventeen
- 15:20Speaker 3: years old. They were sitting next to each other. One
- 15:23Speaker 3: was stabbed in the left shoulder, the other in the
- 15:25Speaker 3: back of the head. The guy arrested is being charged
- 15:30Speaker 3: with one count of assault with the dangerous weapon with
- 15:32Speaker 3: intent to do bodily harm. He's an Indian national who
- 15:37Speaker 3: listened to this. Had been admitted to the US on
- 15:40Speaker 3: a student visa for a master's program in Biblical studies
- 15:44Speaker 3: a track.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Why not yeap?
- 15:46Speaker 2: By the way, the age old phrase forks are friends,
- 15:50Speaker 2: not food.
- 15:53Speaker 5: That's not it. No, no, But what is he in
- 15:56Speaker 5: first class something? Why does he have a metal fork?
- 15:59Speaker 2: Well?
- 15:59Speaker 3: I don't know, because does Lufthansa have metals.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Yeah they Yeah, I was on the Lufthansa flight a
- 16:04Speaker 2: few weeks ago.
- 16:05Speaker 1: It's now metal forks. It's uh.
- 16:09Speaker 2: I was in business class. Okay, so I don't know
- 16:11Speaker 2: if they have a first class. They just have business class.
- 16:14Speaker 2: I was able to upgrade. So I have to buy
- 16:16Speaker 2: more stuff for my business on the credit card.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Just for the.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Miles I will buy. I will buy anything for the miles.
- 16:26Speaker 2: I am now looking at two cases of staplers, almost
- 16:32Speaker 2: a palateful.
- 16:34Speaker 5: All right, Trump administration in the news, what are the
- 16:39Speaker 5: odds moving towards to overrule any state law that may
- 16:43Speaker 5: protect consumers. That's read you and me and our credit
- 16:47Speaker 5: reports for medical debt. If you remember, the Biden administration
- 16:52Speaker 5: put this forward, and this would repeal that previous regulation
- 16:57Speaker 5: that allowed states to implement their own credit at reporting bands.
- 17:00Speaker 5: And like many of them, you had states like New
- 17:03Speaker 5: York Delaware that were prohibiting the reporting of medical debt
- 17:08Speaker 5: on the consumer's credit report because medical debt could just
- 17:12Speaker 5: be insane and you, you know, one bad medical situation
- 17:16Speaker 5: and you're screwed for life on your credit.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Yeah, we're moving in the direction that that medical debt
- 17:23Speaker 2: can't even be reported on your credit report, unpayment of
- 17:28Speaker 2: or non payment of.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Medical Why reverse this.
- 17:32Speaker 5: Just because it's Biden.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Yeah, it's because it's Biden, and because you know, once again,
- 17:37Speaker 2: the position is that you know, how important are people
- 17:41Speaker 2: to this administration when you look at all of the
- 17:44Speaker 2: programs that are being cut over and over again, it's tough.
- 17:48Speaker 1: It's tough. I mean, it's it's been.
- 17:51Speaker 2: Made pretty clear that consumers are not look at all
- 17:54Speaker 2: the EPA consumer compression, the EPA is being completely gutted,
- 17:58Speaker 2: FEMA has been completely gutted.
- 18:01Speaker 5: This seems extra petty. So is there what money is involved?
- 18:07Speaker 5: What gain does the government have by putting you know,
- 18:13Speaker 5: medical You got me on that one, You got me.
- 18:17Speaker 2: The vast majority of bankruptcies are because of medical debt.
- 18:23Speaker 2: I mean, to argue the other side, it costs the
- 18:25Speaker 2: government money because the majority of bankeret because they because
- 18:29Speaker 2: bankruptcy judges are federal judges paid for by the Feds
- 18:35Speaker 2: in federal courtrooms, federal employees. And this just increases or
- 18:43Speaker 2: keeps the number of bankruptcies up at as high as
- 18:47Speaker 2: it possibly can based on medical debt.
- 18:50Speaker 1: And you have a point.
- 18:51Speaker 6: Okay, Yeah, so the US has apparently taken out some
- 18:56Speaker 6: more alleged drug traffickers out three strikes yesterday on four
- 19:02Speaker 6: boats off Mexico's Pacific coast.
- 19:05Speaker 3: Fourteen people were killed. The Pentagon said that it carried
- 19:08Speaker 3: out the strikes in international waters.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Have you seen the video of those boats being blown up?
- 19:16Speaker 2: And the argument is that the Pentagon Pete Hegseith is
- 19:20Speaker 2: blowing up these boats and there is no evidence that
- 19:24Speaker 2: they are even drug boats at this point, and had
- 19:27Speaker 2: that Hegseith came back with that may be absolutely true.
- 19:30Speaker 2: But this is the neatest, most realistic video game that's
- 19:34Speaker 2: ever been invented.
- 19:36Speaker 1: The boats go boom.
- 19:40Speaker 5: They do have tech to be able to tell, even
- 19:43Speaker 5: without being on the boats, whether there is or not.
- 19:46Speaker 5: It is my understanding there is why.
- 19:48Speaker 1: Isn't Why isn't that being published?
- 19:50Speaker 2: Because here is the argument, you guys, there's no proof here,
- 19:54Speaker 2: and here is the proof from them.
- 19:56Speaker 1: Here we have the tech here it is now they can't.
- 19:59Speaker 2: Describe in detail what the tech is because I'm sure
- 20:01Speaker 2: that's classified.
- 20:02Speaker 5: But you would think, wouldn't you. Anyway, this year's a
- 20:10Speaker 5: horrible story. Amy King was talking about earlier there at
- 20:15Speaker 5: the Southern California USC campus here in Los Angeles, a
- 20:19Speaker 5: full term infant was found dead in the student housing
- 20:24Speaker 5: apartment complex. And if you know that area, that's over
- 20:27Speaker 5: by McClintock and Avenue near West thirtieth Street. And the
- 20:33Speaker 5: call came in at about one thirty am on Monday.
- 20:35Speaker 5: According to police, they're still investigating it, but the medical
- 20:39Speaker 5: examiner said the baby listed the baby is nineteen hours old. Wow.
- 20:46Speaker 2: And the shame of it is if the baby is
- 20:49Speaker 2: born a mother at least a biological mother, can drop
- 20:53Speaker 2: it off at any police station, absolutely any at any
- 20:57Speaker 2: fire department and no questions asked, no questions asked.
- 21:03Speaker 3: All money is good money again at Chipotle. Chipotle Mexican
- 21:08Speaker 3: Grill has agreed to pay two hundred and forty six
- 21:11Speaker 3: thousand dollars to settle consumer protection lawsuit. Someone had claimed
- 21:15Speaker 3: that customers in California couldn't use those Chipotle gift cards
- 21:20Speaker 3: if their balance was under ten dollars. So Nathan Hockman,
- 21:25Speaker 3: the district attorney in La County, said gift cards are
- 21:27Speaker 3: real money, purchased with hard earned cash. California laws clear
- 21:31Speaker 3: consumers have the right to redeem gift cards with the
- 21:33Speaker 3: balance under ten dollars. And Chipotle says, okay.
- 21:37Speaker 2: Yeah, how many times have you used the gift card
- 21:41Speaker 2: and the balance was under ten dollars that was left?
- 21:43Speaker 1: How much do I have left on this card? Eight bucks?
- 21:45Speaker 2: Seven dollars A lot I have too, And Chipolte used
- 21:49Speaker 2: to say, you know what, we're going to just keep
- 21:50Speaker 2: that money if it's under ten bucks.
- 21:53Speaker 1: I mean, this is horrific.
- 21:54Speaker 2: Maybe they should go back to the e Coli burritos
- 21:57Speaker 2: that they sold on top of this.
- 21:59Speaker 5: Wowowl Do you remember that one? You remember that knock
- 22:04Speaker 5: them when they're down?
- 22:05Speaker 2: Oh yeah, oh yeah. So they're paying not very much money.
- 22:08Speaker 2: I mean, this is a major corporation. I mean they
- 22:10Speaker 2: have I don't know how many stores they have, and
- 22:14Speaker 2: it's one hundred and forty five dollars and eighty eight
- 22:16Speaker 2: and then twelve thousand, so you know, it's basically a
- 22:19Speaker 2: quarter of a million dollars for Chipotle.
- 22:22Speaker 1: That's a nothing, but.
- 22:24Speaker 2: It says something about corporate greed and corporate philosophy.
- 22:29Speaker 5: All right, Bill Gates making an interesting claim. Of course,
- 22:32Speaker 5: he's been in the forefront of wanting to bring you know,
- 22:36Speaker 5: zero carbon emissions and putting his money where his mouth
- 22:40Speaker 5: is when it comes to climate change, but now he's
- 22:43Speaker 5: arguing slightly differently. He says the world's philanthropists must increase
- 22:47Speaker 5: their investment in other efforts aimed at preventing disease and hunger.
- 22:53Speaker 5: He said, you know, a lot of the money for
- 22:57Speaker 5: climate change because you know, people get emotional of it,
- 23:00Speaker 5: and once you emotion enters the arena, money is thrown
- 23:04Speaker 5: at it, and we don't know where the money goes.
- 23:06Speaker 5: And he says it's been misplaced. Too much good money
- 23:09Speaker 5: has been put to expensive and questionable efforts. And so
- 23:15Speaker 5: he's got a point.
- 23:16Speaker 2: I mean, going to zero carbon emissions is the long game.
- 23:21Speaker 2: People starving is the short game. It happens tomorrow or today.
- 23:26Speaker 2: And he says, let's put the money there. But you
- 23:29Speaker 2: know why politicians like the long games. There's no accountability.
- 23:34Speaker 1: It's true.
- 23:34Speaker 2: I was just watching Fox by the way, you know,
- 23:36Speaker 2: I watch Fox and CNN and BBC on my monitors
- 23:40Speaker 2: up there, and Fox News is taking this and having
- 23:43Speaker 2: the time of their life, saying, you see, even Bill Gates.
- 23:47Speaker 1: Admits climate change is not important.
- 23:49Speaker 2: None of that, and then leaves out completely the story
- 23:53Speaker 2: of but we should take the money and feed people.
- 23:55Speaker 1: That was out of the story.
- 23:58Speaker 5: You'll have to see it in its fullness, because this
- 24:00Speaker 5: is the way you run your house. I mean, were
- 24:03Speaker 5: your house the same way. What is our immediate needs?
- 24:05Speaker 5: Whatever long term people.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Have to that. People have to eat. People have to eat.
- 24:11Speaker 2: And unfortunately, right now, assuming that this gets some legs,
- 24:16Speaker 2: it's going to be a double hit. Climate change won't
- 24:19Speaker 2: be addressed and we're not going.
- 24:20Speaker 5: To feed people.
- 24:21Speaker 1: Now, let him e cool.
- 24:23Speaker 5: I would just like to say, because he tries to
- 24:25Speaker 5: be the good guy all the time. Cono in my
- 24:27Speaker 5: ear just said, except for Neil, he doesn't need to eat.
- 24:30Speaker 2: Damn right, and he's absolutely right. Let's take a break,
- 24:32Speaker 2: we will come back. That's yeah, Well we'll finish it.
- 24:37Speaker 2: They call that Napoleonic complinent. No, no, you know what
- 24:40Speaker 2: they call No, we know what they call that, the truth.
- 24:43Speaker 2: That's what you call it.
- 24:44Speaker 5: I'll dare you.
- 24:46Speaker 3: The US Senate has some rare Republican support for a
- 24:51Speaker 3: Democrat proposition. The Senate passed a measure that would terminate
- 24:56Speaker 3: Trump's tariffs on Brazilian imports that includes coffee, beef, and
- 25:00Speaker 3: other things. It's a rare bipartisan show of opposition to
- 25:05Speaker 3: the trade war. The legislation passed fifty two forty eight
- 25:09Speaker 3: five Republicans join all the Democrats to vote in favor
- 25:13Speaker 3: of it. Well, we got to have our coffee and
- 25:15Speaker 3: we got to have our beef.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Well, I mean, look at this. Let's look at this
- 25:18Speaker 1: for a moment.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Whether you agree with Trump's tariffs or not, they are
- 25:23Speaker 2: a legitimate way of dealing with world economics. And Trump's
- 25:28Speaker 2: position is the balance of trade is unfair. We buy
- 25:31Speaker 2: more products than we sell to insert name of country here,
- 25:36Speaker 2: and that hurts us. It is not good for us.
- 25:39Speaker 2: And so when it comes to China, it comes to
- 25:42Speaker 2: other countries, he throws tariffs on there and says, let's
- 25:45Speaker 2: even the playing field. That's what this is about. With Brazil,
- 25:49Speaker 2: we have a surplus. We sell them more than they buy.
- 25:55Speaker 2: That argument does not hold water. We make money on Brazil.
- 26:00Speaker 2: There is no reason to put a tariff on Brazil
- 26:04Speaker 2: fifty percent. You know why I did it, Bolsonnaro. Bolsonnaro
- 26:07Speaker 2: is an ally. Bolsonnaro lost the election. Bolsonaro said it
- 26:11Speaker 2: was rigged. Trump agreed it was rigged. And the current
- 26:15Speaker 2: president is not a fan. This is a personal move
- 26:19Speaker 2: on a tariff. That's the problem, and it's it makes
- 26:24Speaker 2: no sense. I'm yeah, but only five Republicans? Only five?
- 26:28Speaker 2: What does that show you? Okay, let's do a couple more.
- 26:33Speaker 2: Here a horrible story.
- 26:35Speaker 5: So this lawsuit a grandfather California, grandfather seventy two, they
- 26:39Speaker 5: say was effectively boiled alive with scalding shower water that
- 26:46Speaker 5: came from a hotel shower. Apparently he was going up
- 26:50Speaker 5: north to visit family to watch gymnast his gymnast's granddaughter
- 26:56Speaker 5: graduate from San Jose State University on May twenty second.
- 27:00Speaker 5: He went into the fair Field or the Marriott in
- 27:05Speaker 5: and sweets there in the San Jose Airport, opted for
- 27:09Speaker 5: a shower. But they're saying that the water was was
- 27:14Speaker 5: tempt out at about one hundred and thirty six degrees.
- 27:17Speaker 5: I mean that it shouldn't be more than one hundred
- 27:20Speaker 5: and twenty.
- 27:20Speaker 1: It shouldn't be more than that bath water.
- 27:23Speaker 5: Will you go into the thing? They found him in
- 27:26Speaker 5: the tub half filled. So he's really weird.
- 27:29Speaker 2: I was wanted to probably be one of those shower
- 27:31Speaker 2: tubs things where Yeah, but I think if you got
- 27:34Speaker 2: that hot water from you awer, you would get out right,
- 27:37Speaker 2: you know. But look at look at a hot tub
- 27:41Speaker 2: at one hundred and five degrees. It is so hot
- 27:44Speaker 2: you can barely get in at one hundred and five degrees.
- 27:47Speaker 2: It is hot, hot, hot. Can you imagine one hundred
- 27:50Speaker 2: and thirty six degrees? All right, Well, one more because
- 27:53Speaker 2: this one is fun. This is a story that's going
- 27:56Speaker 2: on which I don't understand.
- 27:58Speaker 3: Well, he's just trolling everybody. He puts his Trump twenty
- 28:04Speaker 3: twenty eight hats on the resolute desk when he calls
- 28:07Speaker 3: the Democrats in. But the President acknowledged yesterday or actually
- 28:14Speaker 3: it was a couple of days ago, that the constitution
- 28:17Speaker 3: makes him ineligible for a third term. He said aboard
- 28:20Speaker 3: Air Force one, I would say that if you read it,
- 28:23Speaker 3: it's pretty clear I'm not allowed to run. And then
- 28:26Speaker 3: he went on to say it's too bad.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Okay, I can see him believing that. I get a
- 28:31Speaker 2: lot of people believe that, even Mike Johnson. Even Mike
- 28:34Speaker 2: Johnson said it's not going to happen. Why because it
- 28:38Speaker 2: takes ten years to pass a constitutional amendment. Let me
- 28:41Speaker 2: tell you on this one. You know how long it's
- 28:43Speaker 2: going to take to pass this amendment? How about never?
- 28:46Speaker 1: Does never work?
- 28:46Speaker 2: For you?
- 28:47Speaker 1: It certainly works for me.
- 28:48Speaker 5: So, okay, what are the options that he's like, Amy said,
- 28:52Speaker 5: trolling or amy? But what about he could it could
- 28:56Speaker 5: be another Trump or he's president.
- 29:00Speaker 3: He said he didn't want to.
- 29:01Speaker 1: Be vice press. Yeah, yeah, come on, he's not gonna.
- 29:04Speaker 5: Be vi I'm saying, but.
- 29:07Speaker 2: It if Congress does pass two thirds of Congress and
- 29:10Speaker 2: two thirds of the States does pass a constitutional amendment,
- 29:14Speaker 2: we now have a third term for a president. I
- 29:16Speaker 2: mean we the only reason we got a second term
- 29:19Speaker 2: limitation is because after FDR. FDR was elected four times
- 29:23Speaker 2: and served three terms, three and a start in his
- 29:27Speaker 2: fourth term.
- 29:28Speaker 1: But he's only in there for a few months, and.
- 29:30Speaker 2: So this is so much fun now real quick before
- 29:34Speaker 2: we take a break, and that is, there's already been
- 29:36Speaker 2: one motion introduced in Congress by some crazy Republican it's
- 29:42Speaker 2: making that argument, introducing the motion for a third term.
- 29:46Speaker 2: How many Republicans do you think are actually going to
- 29:49Speaker 2: push for a third term and change the and change
- 29:52Speaker 2: the constitution all bitch, is not going to be a
- 29:54Speaker 2: small number.
- 29:55Speaker 1: Okay, I absolutely absolutely.
- 29:59Speaker 5: We'll see we'll see a thing at this point.
- 30:01Speaker 1: Okay, KF I am sixty. You've been listening to the
- 30:05Speaker 1: bill handle show.
