- 0:31I'll count down, have the appointment code for Alex.
- 0:37Okay. Okay, we're trying to get her to
- 0:45what day. Trying to get her to one more
- 0:48week. Okay.
- 0:53Did not. I'll get it to you.
- 1:00Is that gonna y'all order it? By next Friday.
- 1:08If not, we can, you know, we have to get some stuff.
- 1:10Anyway, we can grab it, grab what we can at Sam's, if the way
- 1:14you're on typically order it taken.
- 1:18Awesome. Oh, okay.
- 1:31Yeah, okay. All right, great.
- 1:33They I will get you that that of those numbers tonight.
- 1:36All right. Okay.
- 1:39Alright. Thank you.
- 1:43All right, good evening to everyone.
- 1:51Good to see everybody. We'll go ahead and get started
- 1:53this evening. Hope everybody's had a good day
- 2:05so far. For the David, we are sure.
- 2:20Delighted about the news with your son Dane, the studies that
- 2:24he's had and the baptism that was just wonderful new.
- 2:28So we are just so thrilled and delighted about that will be
- 2:31praying for her. Alright, we will pick up where
- 2:37we left off. Last time.
- 2:38We're talking about just some suggestions for helping us heal
- 2:44anxiety from the inside out. So some things that That we can
- 2:48do can try to put into practice, that will help.
- 2:53Again. I don't think those that this is
- 2:56a an issue that you deal with on a regular basis.
- 3:01And we mentioned this last Wednesday, you know, all of us.
- 3:04I am convinced have something that will be a constant.
- 3:11Struggle In Our Lifetime that will flare up from time to time.
- 3:17And sometimes it, we may feel like we're overtaken by it.
- 3:20And so, what I'm saying, is it whatever that particular issue
- 3:24is that just sometimes has our number.
- 3:27It'll be a lifetime fight in battling, whatever that
- 3:32particular issue. Weakness, bias problem sin is I,
- 3:38and when I say that, I'm not saying that we're Habitually
- 3:41committing the sin, but it may be something that we have to
- 3:44constantly be aware of cognizant of, and very proactive in the
- 3:50way that we handle it. Fight it battle it.
- 3:53So that we're winning the battle more than we're losing the
- 3:56battle. And so, if anxiety is, is one of
- 4:00those that It's been maybe a lifetime struggle for someone.
- 4:07You're never going to get to the point.
- 4:08And this is the point paid. Last Wednesday is where you get
- 4:11the point of. Well, I've conquered it.
- 4:12I'm done. I never have to think about it
- 4:14again. I am the Victor.
- 4:15I am the master of this issue. Move on.
- 4:19But hopefully we can come up with techniques whatever our our
- 4:23issue or a struggle or weakness, the Temptation that that we have
- 4:29to deal with. throughout the course of our life, we come up
- 4:33with ways to combat with ways to Deal with it in a successful
- 4:41more than a defeating manner. We started with these
- 4:46suggestions. Last one is the first ones, slow
- 4:48down. Listen to the alarms.
- 4:49Don't try to drown them out with phone scrolling, binge-watching
- 4:53music, blaring self-medicating Etc.
- 4:56Write down the thoughts that trouble you and review for truth
- 4:58and accuracy. What we're trying to do with
- 5:01anxiety, is to move from being terrified by it to being
- 5:04notified by it. So, we're not allowing the
- 5:07anxiety to Us to enslave us to ensnare us.
- 5:13We're being notified by it when it's coming.
- 5:15And then we don't try to default to those distracting techniques
- 5:20where, okay. Well, I'm just going to mute or
- 5:24numb the alarm, rather than deal with what is causing.
- 5:29The alarm number, to feelings are real, but they do not always
- 5:31tell the truth. The example we gave you may
- 5:35forget someone's name that you've known forever.
- 5:38Does that mean that you have dementia?
- 5:40Not necessarily when you write down the anxiety-producing
- 5:43thoughts and analyze them. It helps separate fact from
- 5:46fiction. Remember we talked about Jacob,
- 5:53when he believed, you know, and it's interesting to me.
- 5:57I love the Holy Spirit. Revealed it to us when the other
- 6:01brothers, bring back the bloody Coat of Many Colors Jacobs
- 6:07response is. I know he didn't say well, I
- 6:11guess, you know, the evidence leads to this being Joseph fate.
- 6:17It was, I know, did he? No, no, he did not, but he felt,
- 6:22The evidence was overwhelming, there was indisputable that his
- 6:28son had been devoured by a wild animal.
- 6:31So his feelings in response to that were real, but they were
- 6:36based on something. That was not true.
- 6:42Number three and this is where we left off.
- 6:44Last one, is they keep a gratitude Journal.
- 6:45Those forces are mined out of the past, keeps it from
- 6:48speculating about the future and it makes us focus on the
- 6:52present. Again, going back to what Jesus
- 6:53said in Matthew 6:34. When he told us multiple times
- 6:57that chapter, not to worry, says sufficient for the day is its
- 7:01own trouble. So Jesus did not negate.
- 7:04The fact that each day comes with its specific challenges.
- 7:09And issues and problems in burdens.
- 7:11So Jesus is acknowledging. The fact that we're going to
- 7:15have to deal with issues each and every day more than likely
- 7:18in our life but sufficient for the day.
- 7:21So what anxiety does is we've said several times before is it
- 7:25compounds whatever you're dealing with that day with
- 7:29regret or guilt that you're carrying with you to that
- 7:32present-day that took place in the past and your worries about
- 7:36the uncertain future and you're compounding.
- 7:39At on the day. Now, you've got an unbearable
- 7:41load. One of the things that a
- 7:43gratitude Journal. Does it is, it takes us out of
- 7:46the past and it keeps us from thinking about the future and
- 7:51we're just focused on what are we think full for?
- 7:55What are we grateful for this day?
- 7:56What's going on? Our life right now that that we
- 7:59have to be grateful for when you think about adding guilt from
- 8:06the past with worries about the uncertain future.
- 8:08Iran to the day, you know, that's a compound compounding is
- 8:13great. If you're talking about interest
- 8:14that you're gaining on your savings or an IRA, but
- 8:18compounding is not good. If you're compounding worries
- 8:21and anxieties number for allow yourself to be vulnerable, be
- 8:26brave enough to share your anxieties with a trusted friend,
- 8:29family member or group. And that is one of the primary
- 8:32takeaways for this class is that I'm hoping that it will
- 8:38embolden. Us anyone who this is a
- 8:41struggle, I'm hoping it will embolden you to allow yourself
- 8:46to be vulnerable. To allow yourself to be open to
- 8:50share with a trusted friend. Somebody that, you know, you can
- 8:54take these issues too and they'll put it in a vault and
- 8:56they're not going to go broadcast it on their social
- 8:59media account, but they're going to be someone that you can
- 9:03bounce these issues off of and they're going to be a source of
- 9:07help and Encouragement to you. So, allow yourself to be
- 9:11vulnerable. Be brave enough to share your
- 9:13anxieties with a trusted, friend, family member or group
- 9:16number 5, anxiety. Does not execute you.
- 9:22It grinds you down. Some of you may have experienced
- 9:26panic attacks in your life. When you have a panic attack.
- 9:29You have to treat it the same way that someone who is caught
- 9:33in a Riptide in the ocean has to handle that Riptide.
- 9:38I learned this from my wife who spent a lot of time in the ocean
- 9:42growing up and she said, if you ever get caught in a Riptide you
- 9:45don't fight your way out of it. You just ride with it and
- 9:49eventually. You'll work your way out of it.
- 9:52I've some of you have been. Whitewater rafting before and
- 9:58you know, they give you that whole safety Spiel at the
- 10:00beginning before you you go and one of the things they say if
- 10:03you get dumped out of your raft and you get caught in a
- 10:06Whirlpool, you just go on your back and kick your legs up out
- 10:13of the water and eventually the whirlpool will spit you out.
- 10:16If you try to stay in that whirlpool and just fight it and
- 10:19panic and You're going to have issues, you're going to have
- 10:23problems. So basically what you have to do
- 10:24is just yield yourself to it and give into it in essence.
- 10:30That's the same thing you have to do with the riptide and
- 10:31eventually you'll work your way out by the course of the water,
- 10:37allowing you to leave. So with panic attacks.
- 10:41Don't try to fight it. You just drop your shoulders.
- 10:43You breathe, you let it run. Its course.
- 10:46Over time, the more you choose not to fight the things, you
- 10:49cannot control the less, your body will use Panic or flight to
- 10:53get your attention. It's kind of like that bully.
- 10:55Who's in the schoolyard. Are you looks for the ones that
- 10:58he can get the best reaction out of when he's picking on them?
- 11:01And the ones that he gets the reaction that he wants?
- 11:04Then what does he do? Continues to bully that kid,
- 11:07right. Because that kids giving me what
- 11:09I want the reaction that I want. If Panic sets in and you react,
- 11:17In a way that I'm not going to fight it.
- 11:19I'm not going. I'm just going to allow it to
- 11:21run. Its course and eventually your
- 11:22body says wait a minute. Okay.
- 11:24Well, what's the point in having these anymore?
- 11:26If you know you're not going to make a big deal about it when it
- 11:29occurs. Number 6.
- 11:35If you want to change how you feel and act start by working
- 11:38and boy, this is, this is easier said than done.
- 11:40I know believe you me as I read this.
- 11:44I know this is the case start by working to control your
- 11:47thoughts. You say how in the world?
- 11:51Well, we cannot stop the thoughts that pop into our mind,
- 11:55but we can control the thoughts that we respond to or give
- 12:00audience to you. Think about David on his
- 12:03rooftop. And he sees Bathsheba, it may
- 12:07that was probably a completely incidental that was not, I'm
- 12:11sure David's intention when he went on the rooftop that night
- 12:15to spot Bathsheba bathing on her.
- 12:18Rooftop, it was, it was an incidental.
- 12:20Occurrence. The mistake that David made is
- 12:24his lingering on his rooftop, and allowing his mind, and his
- 12:29eyes to absorb, what he was seeing, which then, of course,
- 12:34contributed to the horrific mistakes that he made after
- 12:38that. So David maybe could not have
- 12:41controlled initially seeing Bathsheba on that evening, but
- 12:46he could control. What he allowed his mind to
- 12:49continue to do from that moment. Overturn with his second
- 12:54Corinthians chapter 10. and, So many times.
- 13:05We get some additional tidbits. If we take maybe a familiar,
- 13:10passage that we know very well and consider for a moment.
- 13:15The context surrounding it. So 2nd Corinthians chapter 10
- 13:20and verse 5? Says, what Alex are you there?
- 13:28You'll read that one for us. Yes, sir.
- 13:43When you have meditated upon that verse before taking every
- 13:47thought, captive what what kinds of thoughts?
- 13:50Do you think specifically when you're trying to make
- 13:53application in your own life? To what Paul just said, have you
- 13:58thought specifically about what kinds of thoughts?
- 14:03That you need to take captive. What do you think is?
- 14:08Maybe the general reaction when you think?
- 14:10I take every thought captive? What kinds of thoughts?
- 14:16That's a big one. Probably that comes to the mind
- 14:19of most males is. Okay.
- 14:21I'm going to take I'm not going to allow myself to go down the
- 14:25road mentally. That David went down, you know,
- 14:28with Bathsheba anybody else have a thought of a particular
- 14:34thought that comes to your mind that covetousness is a big one.
- 14:40Absolutely that. That's that one's a fueler for a
- 14:43lot of other sins and mistakes, right?
- 14:49Exactly. Yes, that's a big one.
- 14:52Brod huge. Yes.
- 14:57Yes, sir. Absolutely being very purposeful
- 15:16intentional in in the practice of this principle brother Danny
- 15:28into captivity to The Obedience of Christ that they were naming
- 15:32all of those ones that got to get fitter and had bring it.
- 15:38Deviance Christ. Good thoughts.
- 15:40That's it. Yeah, absolutely.
- 15:43Because we got to replace those thoughts with something.
- 15:45Don't we our minds? Not just going to, you know, I
- 15:49mean, I know guys. We talked about our ability to
- 15:51put our mind on screen saver mode, but you know, and and we
- 15:55can't do that forever. You know.
- 15:57So eventually you have to replace those negative thoughts
- 16:00with those positive thoughts, that you know that Christ wants
- 16:05us to be our mental focus. A couple of things within the
- 16:10context of where this verse Falls, that is interesting to
- 16:14look with me in verse 2, someone read verse 24.
- 16:17So just a couple of verses before verse 5 that we just
- 16:20read. Okay, so, Paul is making a
- 16:37reference to those who were doing what?
- 16:42Slandering him talking bad about him, knowing the firecracker
- 16:47that we believe Paul to be is the in the way that he's
- 16:50revealed to us in scripture. What kind of thoughts, you think
- 16:53Paul would have, if he spent time reflecting upon those that
- 16:59are going around, slandering him and talking bad about him.
- 17:02And What kind of thoughts, do you think Paul might?
- 17:07The old saw Paul might come into his mind as he's thinking about
- 17:10that and I get my hands on that guy just one good time.
- 17:20Yeah, that's the kind of thing that I'm, that's the kind of
- 17:22thought that I'm thinking Paul would like to have as a reaction
- 17:26to, okay, so he's talking about people that are slandering.
- 17:30Somebody look, what's that? Yes, absolutely.
- 17:35I know right now. Verse 10.
- 17:36Somebody read verse 10 for us. So, this is Paul talking about
- 17:51people who are doing what? Making fun of him right.
- 17:56Boy. He talks big and bad when he's
- 17:58riding, but man, you look at him and That's not too to intimidate
- 18:03him of a figure. There is interesting me.
- 18:06So Paul is addressing before he says take every thought captive
- 18:09and after taking every thought captive to two things that
- 18:13probably a lot of us, think about It's may be a struggle for
- 18:18us to have the best thoughts in our mind.
- 18:19When we think about those people that are out there gossiping
- 18:22about us, slandering us saying, bad things about us.
- 18:25Those people who are making fun of us, mocking us.
- 18:31You know, here. So here's Paul addressing people
- 18:32who've made fun of his physical stature as physical appearance.
- 18:38And those who are out there, slandering his name.
- 18:41And right there in the middle of that.
- 18:44Here's Paul saying I take every thought captive to The Obedience
- 18:48of Christ. So a lot of times in, yes, we
- 18:51think about, okay, those vices those sins.
- 18:53Those things that pop in that are - that our Sim sinful, that
- 18:57are sensual that are tempting. But also what Paul is addressing
- 19:02here are those times where you know, we want to lash back at
- 19:09people that are mistreating us that are Treating us badly and I
- 19:12can imagine that could probably be an issue for Paul being the
- 19:16kind of person that he was this fire in his bones kind of guy
- 19:21that he had that he can fire in the bones kind of guy that he
- 19:24was. And so I can only imagine that
- 19:29there would be times where Paul would want to revert back to his
- 19:32old ways at least verbally in responding to these people who
- 19:38are treating him this way, but he's saying I'm taking every
- 19:41thought captive to The Obedience of Christ.
- 19:56Yeah. I mean, can you imagine anything
- 20:04being more insulting to Paul than that?
- 20:07Because, yes, you know, we've done Andrew.
- 20:09You've been under the personality classes that we've
- 20:11done. Before we try to piece together,
- 20:13what we can learn about, these people from scripture and their
- 20:17personality types. And and if Paul was a choleric
- 20:21as I think he, you know, scripture reveals him to be
- 20:23then, yeah. Don't tell a choleric.
- 20:26They're not good at what they've chosen as their life's Mission
- 20:28profession. Occupation.
- 20:30Whatever. Exactly, very, very interesting
- 20:35thoughts. They're surrounded by around
- 20:37that verse. Number 7.
- 20:42The thoughts we give audience to affect our heart rates, stress
- 20:45hormones, our gut health. So we have to challenge those
- 20:49thoughts. There is nothing wrong with
- 20:53saying out loud. Get behind me.
- 20:57Satan exactly the way Jesus said to Peter in Matthew chapter 16.
- 21:04You remember? So and that it's a whole
- 21:07separate topic to discuss the rise and fall of Peter just in
- 21:11one conversation, you know, he goes from being him blessed.
- 21:14Are you Simon bar Jonah for flesh and blood has not revealed
- 21:16unto you. My father Art in Heaven, given
- 21:18you the Keys of the Kingdom and in that same conversation?
- 21:22After Jesus said that if in talks about what he's going to
- 21:26to do for the world and that is to suffer to die on the cross to
- 21:30rise. Again, the third day and Peter
- 21:32tries to pull him aside because he's feeling Really good about
- 21:34himself right now. He's just been blessed by the
- 21:36Lord in front of the Apostles. He's just been given the keys to
- 21:39the kingdom. So he's feeling a little little
- 21:42big for his britches. So he pulls the Son of God
- 21:45inside and rebukes him. Matthew says, this isn't going
- 21:49to happen to you. And Jesus says, Get Behind Me.
- 21:53Satan or you are a hindrance to me.
- 21:59Man, you talking about being. In one conversation.
- 22:06And so, Jesus out loud is basically saying, have you not
- 22:12taken a second to think that I've had that same thought that?
- 22:16No. I don't want to go through this
- 22:18for you thankless, ingrates. And so if there's nothing wrong
- 22:27with you, have these these thoughts that pop into your head
- 22:30that want to take you down this rabbit hole that leads in
- 22:33anxiety. You just say out loud, get
- 22:35behind me. Satan, not today.
- 22:37Satan, whatever your Mantra that you choose is Jesus gave us full
- 22:41permission to do that. Number 8, make a list of what
- 22:47you can and cannot control. You can control things like
- 22:52screen time. Exercise work ethic Etc.
- 22:55You cannot control other people's attitudes insecurities
- 23:00behaviors. You cannot control what other
- 23:02people post on social media. You cannot control what other
- 23:06people say and do. You can control whether or not
- 23:11you keep an app on your phone. That is causing you stress.
- 23:16So decide, here's what I can control.
- 23:18Here's what I can't control the things that I can control.
- 23:20I'm going to do what I can do about those things.
- 23:23To make my life easier to make my life less stressful to make
- 23:27my life. Less anxious, the things that I
- 23:29cannot control. I'm going to remind myself over
- 23:31and over again. I cannot control that.
- 23:35I cannot control this person's mouth.
- 23:37I cannot control this person's driving skills.
- 23:40I cannot control just fill in the blank with whatever causes
- 23:44you stress and anxiety on any given day and let go of those
- 23:49things that you cannot control. Number nine.
- 23:54Unwittingly. We write the story of our future
- 23:56from narratives, based on the past.
- 23:58This is especially true with trauma.
- 24:00When it comes to trauma, we must acknowledge and identify it.
- 24:03Then, we must decide to not allow it to identify us.
- 24:07Your past is an experience. It is not a destination.
- 24:12We mentioned this last Wednesday and talked about that, a good
- 24:16bit and we're talking about lot. You were not the worst thing you
- 24:18have experienced done or said Philippians 3 and verse 13, Paul
- 24:24who had as many skeletons in his closet as anyone. talks about
- 24:29forgetting what is behind and pressing or those things that
- 24:33are ahead and isn't it interesting that In that
- 24:37context. Now, this is very true when it
- 24:40comes to trauma and things that we have experienced, especially
- 24:44those things that were outside of our control.
- 24:48We don't need to You know, think that our, our identity is is
- 24:54based upon those things. But in the context in
- 24:57Philippians 3, when Paul makes that statement.
- 25:03This one thing I do forgetting those things are behind and
- 25:05pressing forward to those things.
- 25:07Which lie ahead, you know, he is not in the preceding verses in
- 25:11Philippians chapter 3. He's not talked about his
- 25:14horrific past except just just one brief little comment.
- 25:18Most of what he has talked about leading up to.
- 25:20That were the things that he was most proud of before coming
- 25:25becoming a Christian. A benjamite, a Hebrew of
- 25:30Hebrews. According to the law zealous as
- 25:35far as practicing the Old Law blameless.
- 25:37I mean, he, he lists all these accomplishments accolades both
- 25:41from an academic standpoint, a biological standpoint and
- 25:44everything in between. And, and yet.
- 25:47What does Paul do? He says, I forget all those
- 25:49things are behind. So, yes, included in that
- 25:52concerning the church, a persecutor, but that was the
- 25:55only really negative thing about his past.
- 25:57He made reference to before making that statement of
- 25:59forgetting those things they're behind.
- 26:00So a lot of times We think about Paul forgetting those things
- 26:04that are behind, we're thinking. He's focusing on those traumatic
- 26:10things, those sinful things, those things that maybe would
- 26:14make him lose sleep at night sometimes, but in the immediate
- 26:17context, he's talking about everything.
- 26:20Yes, being a persecutor of the church, trying his best to
- 26:24forgive that and move forward. But but all the things that he
- 26:26considered valuable that it considered good.
- 26:28In other words. The past is the past, whether it
- 26:30was good, bad indifferent. I forget those things that are
- 26:34behind I move forward and press forward to those things that are
- 26:39ahead. Jimmy excellent.
- 27:45Excellent point. And I'm gonna jump way ahead in
- 27:49my notes to piggyback on something that you said to what
- 27:52I was going to do after these things that we're going through
- 27:56right now and just pull out a few highlights from.
- 27:59I mentioned it briefly you winces ago Bachelor Barrett
- 28:03Baxter, wonderful gospel preacher from several years ago,
- 28:07wrote a book entitled when life tongue.
- 28:09Zen and in his chapter on how to deal with guilt and how to
- 28:14overcome guilt, he gave several tidbits on how to do that and
- 28:24Excuse me. Let me get right to it.
- 28:26So I want. Not state it accurately.
- 28:34He says this. So he gives 5 I'll just give you
- 28:36this as number four and then we'll cover all five of them
- 28:39when we get there. He says sincerely.
- 28:43And one time, only ask the Lord to forgive you of a particular
- 28:48sin. And then he said don't burden
- 28:54the Lord with a whole bunch of times.
- 28:56After that, asking for forgiveness, for that exact sin.
- 29:01I'm not talking about, you know, sins that you've committed since
- 29:03then, but maybe you've got one big one in your past that you've
- 29:07asked the Lord to forgive you for, and, and you've made it
- 29:09right with the Lord, then the Lord is not expecting or
- 29:13wanting. You then to pray to him multiple
- 29:17times after that about that. At Siena in the past is already
- 29:21been forgiven and forgotten by God, don't continue to ask him
- 29:25to do something that he's already done.
- 29:27In essence is what he's saying, but he says, you know, you're
- 29:29dealing with your guilt and you can't forget it and we cannot
- 29:32keep. I'll get you here in just a
- 29:33second. What we do with regrets from the
- 29:38past, when we try to erase them from from our mind.
- 29:43And so they they don't cause this guilt and heartbreak in the
- 29:46present. It's like when you use an eraser
- 29:49to remove dry erase marker unless you're a way better
- 29:56eraser than I am in, every situation that I've ever erased
- 30:00aboard that was written on a dry erase marker.
- 30:03You can still faintly read what was left behind, unless you've
- 30:06got a magic eraser or something better than what I've used.
- 30:10Typically. It's very faint, you can write
- 30:13over it and it's not going to hinder what you want to do, you
- 30:16know. But there's still a faint that
- 30:20that's what we do, you know, even when, when we try to
- 30:24forgive and move on, when people have wronged us, you know, we
- 30:27it's impossible for us as human beings to completely forget.
- 30:31God, does not operate that way when David was asking for the
- 30:34Lord concerning his sin with Bathsheba and Uriah to blot out
- 30:38my iniquities, in Psalm 51, what he was asking the Lord to do is
- 30:44something the Lord is capable of doing.
- 30:46And that is To remove it as if that writing was never put on
- 30:50the dry erase board to begin with.
- 30:53It's like it never existed. So when God forgives us of
- 30:58something that we have repented for, and changed our heart, and
- 31:02our mind, and our attitude, and our actions, when he blocks it
- 31:05out. It's as if it never happened,
- 31:08so, when God has forgiven us of something, and we go back again
- 31:12about that same thing. Lord, at thing, that I ask you
- 31:14to forgive me for that, I did and 1983 asking for forgiveness
- 31:19for that again and you go back and back and back to that.
- 31:23That's what is feeding your guilt.
- 31:25But God is handli. You don't have to have blotted
- 31:27that out. What are you even talking about?
- 31:30Eight. That's it.
- 32:03Right. Exactly key.
- 32:15The perfect Point. Yeah, don't forget the lessons
- 32:17learned from it. The lessons that will Empower
- 32:20you enable you not to make that same mistake over and over
- 32:23again, but don't bring it back up into your Consciousness so
- 32:27that you can then go through the process of beating yourself up
- 32:30about it all over it. Yeah.
- 32:31Brother dance and do we really believe him if we do then we'll
- 32:41get it and not bring it back up. Both sides that if you might
- 32:46send you to feel guilty or we might continue, continue to feel
- 32:49that God hadn't done what he promised.
- 32:52Excellent point, brother Danny, I tell you, I think you've read
- 32:54the battle Barrett Baxter's book because that one is number five
- 33:00in his suggestions for overcoming guilt, accept the
- 33:04forgiveness. In other words, trust that he
- 33:07did it trust that he forgave you, so exactly right.
- 33:11But anything else there, JP, and then kneel, and then Andrew
- 33:16Okay, I'm sorry, brother cliff. Zach.
- 33:50That's right. Exactly having that, having that
- 33:54balance between those. So in going back to Keith point
- 33:57to and it's great. So taking the lessons learned
- 34:00and moving on, but yet to get to the point to where you get
- 34:03forgiven in the first place to have that Godly sorrow, that
- 34:07that remorse, that that remorse, that leads to repentance.
- 34:10Not the regret that Judas had where he didn't go through the
- 34:13process of reconciliation, but that report remorse that leads
- 34:16to repentance that then leads to forgiveness.
- 34:19Exactly. Davey.
- 34:22Oh, you were you just helping helping me?
- 34:24Get to brother. Cliff?
- 34:25Good. Good stuff.
- 34:26All right, Neal and then Andrew. Sure, absolutely eyes.
- 36:41Big part of James instructions. You know, concerning our prayer
- 36:47life, if you ask and do not receive because you ask amiss in
- 36:50other words, you're asking for the wrong things.
- 36:52And that was, that was the thrust of his particular
- 36:56statement. Because you're asking for things
- 36:57that you can spend for your pleasure sake.
- 37:01And so I know that's not specifically, she were speaking
- 37:04about, but sometimes, we're not necessarily praying for
- 37:08something that is pleasurable to us or something that we want
- 37:11don't necessarily need but, you know sometimes yeah, it's a
- 37:14shift of a focus, even Even beyond that, that particular
- 37:18thought or idea is good and you Andrew.
- 38:58And Andrew really excellent pointing when you reference Paul
- 39:03there, towards the end, is such a good example.
- 39:06Because in both cases of Paul in the the success that he achieved
- 39:14in, what will the successive? That he was achieving in his
- 39:17spiritual walk, when he was still an adherent to the law of
- 39:20Moses and in opposition to the Christ in opposition to Christ.
- 39:23His motivation was pleasing. God, his anger at those who were
- 39:27of the way were you, are, you are hurting my God.
- 39:32And so his Zeal was, I'm going to do what I can to take you
- 39:38down so that my God can be back in his proper place, that is
- 39:43first and foremost, so it was easy for for God to take Paul.
- 39:46And use him for the church because his motivation in both
- 39:50places. Just like you're saying in the
- 39:52good times, the bad and everywhere in between.
- 39:55God was his Focus right glorifying.
- 39:58Him serving him was his Focus. He just needed to be pointing to
- 40:01the right direction. And so it was, it was easy.
- 40:04The ones who were not able to make the shift that Paul made
- 40:07were the ones who were self. They were involved in
- 40:10self-glorifying. Self-gratification, the ones who
- 40:13we loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
- 40:15We're not going to confess Christ.
- 40:17I see even though what he has shown us is beyond dispute.
- 40:21He's got to be who he said he was.
- 40:22They believed in him would not confess him.
- 40:25John 14. Let's to be put out of the
- 40:27synagogue Benjamin and then JP. Man, such great advice for all
- 40:59of us. And I mean, yeah, let's let's
- 41:03practice as Brothers and Sisters in Christ, letting bygones be
- 41:08bygones. You know, I guarantee you, if,
- 41:13if Jesus had lingered on long after his 40 days, after his
- 41:18Resurrection before his Ascension, if he had ever been a
- 41:22party to listening to any of those Apostles, dredge up
- 41:27Peters, three denials on the eve of his death across.
- 41:31I guarantee Jesus with a squash that like a bug.
- 41:35He just said, you're not. Peter and we're fine, you're not
- 41:39bringing that up. That's that's not a topic for
- 41:42ongoing discussion. That's that's a fantastic Point.
- 41:47Benjamin. We need to allow that that grace
- 41:49and mercy to one another not bring up forgiving sins from the
- 41:52Past who each other. Absolutely JP.
- 41:55And then Kelly Y'all got some good comments tonight.
- 42:01Yeah, bring it. Oh, yes.
- 43:19All that. That is so great.
- 43:21And I'll just take our thought, I'm sorry Kelly before we get to
- 43:24you and you can close this out tonight.
- 43:26Going back to that. You know, this the first Peter
- 43:295:7, your cast all your care upon him for he cares for you
- 43:32and you may remember several wins days back.
- 43:34We talked about that. He that Greek word that is
- 43:37translated as casting their first.
- 43:40Peter. 5:7 is only used twice the entire New Testament.
- 43:43The only other time is when they were describing the way, the two
- 43:47disciples cast. The, the coat, on top of the
- 43:53cold that Jesus wrote upon into Jerusalem.
- 43:56And so you got these two castings.
- 43:59So we're casting our burdens upon Christ.
- 44:01So he's got, you know, our burdens on his backhand.
- 44:05And you've got this idea. Maybe we can allow that that
- 44:07coat that's sitting on top of the cult under Christ.
- 44:11We can let that represent our pride and then we're right there
- 44:14in the middle, you know, so, allow Jesus to sit on our pride
- 44:17and squash yet. Allow him.
- 44:19To carry our burdens and we're just in the middle along for the
- 44:22ride Kelly. Exactly.
- 44:54What JP was talking about there a minute ago.
- 44:56Yeah, a lot of times those High moments are short-lived, aren't
- 45:00they? So we got to, we got to help
- 45:01God. We got allow God, to help us
- 45:03through the highs and the lows. Definitely.
- 45:05Thank y'all so much for great comments.
- 45:07Lord willing. We'll pick up their next
- 45:09Wednesday. We'll move on to our devotional
- 45:12tongue. Okay.
- 45:26Got you. 12:30, we met her up here,
- 45:5712:30. That's right.
- 46:21I'll just move over here. Applejack from a seat, sir.
- 47:13Recognize or know her, but just didn't know it.
- 47:16And not know that family picnic. Oh, yeah, how could you not know
- 47:23John? Hey, hey.
- 47:24And yeah. It's am I doing announcements?
- 47:46Or am I just going for it as far as I know?
- 47:50If we don't have somebody working to say yes, I don't see
- 47:53anybody looking like an announcer.
- 47:54So, you know speaking man we
- 48:25Yeah. Are you there now?
- 48:32It's over. Sounds like an announcer.
