Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_01: From Putney River Brewing Company, it's the Black Walnut.
- 0:19SPEAKER_01: It's time for the opening crack.
- 0:21SPEAKER_01: The sideshow to the DD show we normally do where we taste and rank some beer.
- 0:26SPEAKER_01: Welcome back, fellas.
- 0:28SPEAKER_01: Yo! Good to be back.
- 0:30SPEAKER_01: Somebody's excited.
- 0:31SPEAKER_02: That was a good that was a good poll, Phil.
- 0:33SPEAKER_02: That was a nice strong crack.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: I know, finally, right?
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: I feel like I had a few mishaps here lately.
- 0:38SPEAKER_01: So, Phil, what are you pouring tonight?
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: I am pouring a black walnut by Piney River Brewing Company out of Buceris, Missouri.
- 0:49SPEAKER_02: Down in the backwoods of Missouri.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: Black walnut.
- 0:53SPEAKER_01: This is this is a different one.
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: It's a different one.
- 0:57SPEAKER_03: You just lost all of our people in the 20 to 25 listeners.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: If there are any Missouri listeners, tell us if it's pronounced Buceris.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: Is it right?
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: How many people in Missouri know that this town exists?
- 1:11SPEAKER_01: Fair question.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 1:14SPEAKER_01: It's not Kansas City.
- 1:15SPEAKER_01: It's not St.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: Louis.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: It's Iris.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: We can call that by the name.
- 1:22SPEAKER_02: I don't look at where this place is at now.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: Hey, they are proud of being there, though.
- 1:26SPEAKER_03: We know that it's an unincorporated something.
- 1:31SPEAKER_03: Right?
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: Village, town, township, township.
- 1:34SPEAKER_03: Mm-hmm.
- 1:35SPEAKER_01: We might have gone down to Rabbit Hole before the episode started.
- 1:37SPEAKER_03: Mm-hmm.
- 1:38SPEAKER_03: Mm-hmm.
- 1:38SPEAKER_02: Oh wow.
- 1:39SPEAKER_02: They are literally in the middle of nowhere.
- 1:41SPEAKER_02: Uh it's cl the closest, like larger town is Houston, Missouri.
- 1:48SPEAKER_02: Which is also, I would take a guess here and say it's probably two and a half hours from Kansas City, two hours from St.
- 1:55SPEAKER_02: Louis.
- 1:56SPEAKER_02: Well, this is in the Ozarks, isn't it?
- 1:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:58SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, way south.
- 2:00SPEAKER_02: So I don't think I lost anybody with that comment.
- 2:03SPEAKER_02: And we have listeners in Kansas and Iowa, they're gonna be totally on board with that comment.
- 2:06SPEAKER_02: So it's fine.
- 2:08SPEAKER_02: You know it.
- 2:09SPEAKER_02: Just saying.
- 2:12SPEAKER_03: You know your audience.
- 2:13SPEAKER_01: Anyway, they have a beer.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Ross, shut up and drink your beer.
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: So we can talk about what it tastes like.
- 2:18SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: Well, what do we think of the beer?
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: A lot of sniffing going on.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: Is there any tasting?
- 2:29SPEAKER_02: You taste with your nose first, thank you very much.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: Do you know what my first taste via nose is?
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: No.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: Olives.
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: I did not see olives on the ingredient list.
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: It could be problematic.
- 2:43SPEAKER_01: I concur.
- 2:45SPEAKER_03: It just smells kind of sweet to me.
- 2:48SPEAKER_01: So this one is an American-style dark wheat ale brewed with local black walnuts.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: I think it has a sweetness to it when you drink it.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: I think so.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: It's not heavy, but nuts.
- 3:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah, go ahead.
- 3:02SPEAKER_02: I was just gonna say, what's the official style for this again?
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: American style.
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: American style dark walnut dark wheat ale.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: Dark wheat ale.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 3:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: I like it.
- 3:13SPEAKER_01: I think it's good.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: The fruitiness might just be the nuttiness kind of blending between the two.
- 3:18SPEAKER_02: Mm-hmm.
- 3:19SPEAKER_02: It's just not like your typical nuttiness like you would get, like if you're eating, I don't know, like a baked good or something like that.
- 3:25SPEAKER_02: It's like it's very different and it comes across.
- 3:28SPEAKER_02: Baked good.
- 3:29unknown: Yeah.
- 3:30SPEAKER_02: What are you talking about?
- 3:31SPEAKER_02: Yes, like you have like a walnut and a baked good.
- 3:34SPEAKER_02: Like that, that kind of nutty taste.
- 3:36SPEAKER_02: Why are you talking to me like I'm an idiot?
- 3:38SPEAKER_02: I'm usually good.
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: Where do you have your walnuts?
- 3:43SPEAKER_02: I don't eat them outside of baked goods.
- 3:45SPEAKER_02: That's my only comparison.
- 3:46SPEAKER_02: Usually don't.
- 3:47SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 3:48SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: You gotta roast them first to bring out the nuttiness.
- 3:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 3:51SPEAKER_02: Sure.
- 3:52SPEAKER_02: And these are supposed to be green, right?
- 3:54SPEAKER_02: Mm-hmm.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: Well, it says black walnuts.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: It doesn't just says black.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: They're black walnuts.
- 3:58SPEAKER_02: The picture, the the picture on the can it shows is like it's like the actual green.
- 4:02SPEAKER_02: So have you ever seen like squirrels running around with the giant walnuts?
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: Like I tell you those, those stupid things, the walnuts themselves, they start green.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 4:11SPEAKER_01: And they are pain in the butt on the lawnmower.
- 4:14SPEAKER_01: I'll tell you from experience.
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: We had one in our backyard growing up, and ooh, I've hit many of those.
- 4:23unknown: Yeah.
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: Look out on the exhaust side of the lawnmower.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: I'll tell you.
- 4:27SPEAKER_02: I I mean, like when we're talking about like the nutty, the nutty flavor, the sweetness in this, it it almost has to be the walnuts because like the only ingredients in this are water, malted barley.
- 4:37SPEAKER_02: You get sweetness from the malted barley, of course, but the wheat, walnuts, hops, and yeast.
- 4:42SPEAKER_02: So anything that's not like grainy, malty flavor has to be the walnuts, right?
- 4:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:47SPEAKER_02: So that it's just interesting.
- 4:50SPEAKER_02: It's just it's not what I thought it would be.
- 4:51SPEAKER_02: It's great.
- 4:52SPEAKER_02: I don't get me wrong, but it's just different.
- 4:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I like it.
- 4:55SPEAKER_03: Um, this is not gonna sound like a compliment, and I don't know if it is or not.
- 4:59SPEAKER_03: There's something about it that reminds me of flat soda.
- 5:03SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you can't.
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: I can see it.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: I don't know why.
- 5:09SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't know either.
- 5:10SPEAKER_01: Don't mind that though.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: I mean, I love flat soda.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, actually, it's not that bad.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: I but it's smooth to drink too.
- 5:16SPEAKER_01: Like it's not is it just the malt?
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: Maybe.
- 5:21SPEAKER_03: Um, yeah.
- 5:23SPEAKER_03: I I don't something.
- 5:25SPEAKER_03: Um the yeast is it pretty mild yeast.
- 5:29SPEAKER_03: Like there's not like a really strong yeast flavor coming through or or smell to it.
- 5:35SPEAKER_03: Like, yeah, it's I agree.
- 5:37SPEAKER_03: It's it's smooth to taste.
- 5:39SPEAKER_02: It's could it be that the the the beer itself is just not like highly carbonated?
- 5:44SPEAKER_02: It could be.
- 5:45SPEAKER_02: And maybe they did that on purpose.
- 5:47SPEAKER_02: Um it's just when you were talking flat sodas, like that's to me what makes flat soda flat soda is the fact that it's lacking the bubbiness.
- 5:54SPEAKER_02: And we saw that a little bit when Phil poured in the glass, like it didn't have a big head on it, it didn't really bubble up all that much.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: So one of the things I think was interesting on the can, so Ross kind of talked about that it has like black walnuts on it sitting in a bag on the side of the can too, though, hand harvested.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: They do a lot of work to make this beer, then, right?
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: So I picked this up down in Kansas City, and apparently Missouri is like the biggest can uh producer of black walnuts in the US.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: Really?
- 6:24SPEAKER_01: And most of them come from like people's backyards, and they go around and pick them up and take them to like underground black walnut walnut dealerships or something.
- 6:32SPEAKER_01: They sell them to boories, walnut dealerships.
- 6:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah, well there was uh Okay, so growing up, just down the road, there was a winery in the Amana colonies, and they would make dandelion wine.
- 6:43SPEAKER_03: Oh, sure.
- 6:44SPEAKER_03: And so a couple of summers, like if you went out into your yard, and we had a pretty baby gack yard, you could pick dandelions and then take buckets of dandelions into the brewery and they into the winery, excuse me.
- 6:57SPEAKER_03: Sure.
- 6:57SPEAKER_03: And they'd buy them off you for not enough money to make it worth it.
- 7:03SPEAKER_01: Like a little kid side hustle thing.
- 7:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but uh yeah, I mean, if so if there's a bunch of people around and they're all just collecting walnuts.
- 7:10SPEAKER_02: I just see dads everywhere being like, you know what?
- 7:12SPEAKER_02: I need to get my kid to be weed the yard.
- 7:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 7:17SPEAKER_02: Tell you what, you go pick those, they'll pay you 25 cents a bushel at the Amana Colonies.
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: Let's go.
- 7:23SPEAKER_01: Uh, I will mention this one comes in at 4.5 on the ABVs and 18 on the IBUs.
- 7:30SPEAKER_01: So not too potent.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: Not a heavy hitter.
- 7:33SPEAKER_02: 18 even seems high for IBUs.
- 7:35SPEAKER_02: Like, I don't feel like this one has any bitterness at all.
- 7:38SPEAKER_03: It's very smooth.
- 7:40SPEAKER_03: It's dark, right?
- 7:41SPEAKER_03: The color of it is dark.
- 7:43SPEAKER_03: I wouldn't describe the color of it as black.
- 7:45SPEAKER_03: I it's a little more brown to me.
- 7:48SPEAKER_03: Um it's not overly you don't get it, it's not like an overly roasted flavor or smoky flavor or anything like that from it.
- 7:58SPEAKER_03: It's yeah, it's like a brown ale sort of uh color, but with wheat as as the base.
- 8:06SPEAKER_01: It's good.
- 8:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I like it.
- 8:09SPEAKER_01: So switching back to DD, we'd like to talk about where could you find this one in some of the one of the planes of DD.
- 8:19SPEAKER_01: Um, Ross, where are you gonna find this beer?
- 8:21SPEAKER_02: I was really hoping you wouldn't start with me.
- 8:23SPEAKER_02: Uh I I leaned into this is dumb.
- 8:27SPEAKER_02: I'm sorry.
- 8:28SPEAKER_02: Uh that you're gonna find this one at Squirrely Shack.
- 8:30SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 8:31SPEAKER_02: Squirrely likes the the black walnuts.
- 8:34SPEAKER_02: Uh, and this is the fruity nut special.
- 8:36SPEAKER_03: Now, can you tell us a little more about Squirrely?
- 8:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 8:40SPEAKER_02: Uh-huh.
- 8:40SPEAKER_02: He he's kind of wiry looking.
- 8:42SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 8:42SPEAKER_02: Skinny dude, looks like very disheveled.
- 8:45SPEAKER_02: Like, this is a person?
- 8:46SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 8:47SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 8:47SPEAKER_02: Uh if you like see him running around out of the corner of your eye, you swear to God there's a squirrel in the room.
- 8:52SPEAKER_02: Like he just moves around very quick, talks very fast.
- 8:55SPEAKER_02: Human?
- 8:57SPEAKER_02: Uh-huh.
- 9:00SPEAKER_02: I didn't really think that one through.
- 9:02SPEAKER_02: Undetermined.
- 9:03SPEAKER_02: Originally, yes, but now that you say that, I think no.
- 9:07SPEAKER_02: No.
- 9:07SPEAKER_01: Um.
- 9:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 9:09SPEAKER_02: He's got to be short.
- 9:09SPEAKER_02: He's got to be a small little guy.
- 9:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 9:12SPEAKER_02: Gnome or halfling something for sure.
- 9:15SPEAKER_02: Dwarf, perhaps.
- 9:16SPEAKER_03: What do his toesenail toenails look like?
- 9:19SPEAKER_02: Um, well, considering that they they're sticking out of his shoes because he never cuts them.
- 9:24SPEAKER_02: So they're pretty, but that just you hear him scritch scratching across the.
- 9:27SPEAKER_02: Yes, you do, exactly.
- 9:28SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 9:28SPEAKER_02: 100%.
- 9:29SPEAKER_02: And he wears kind of poofy pants that would be reminiscent of a squirrel tail.
- 9:34SPEAKER_01: Just leaning into it.
- 9:36SPEAKER_02: Yep, 100%.
- 9:37SPEAKER_02: It's like, I'm gonna play this role.
- 9:38SPEAKER_02: Let's go.
- 9:39SPEAKER_03: Okay, very good.
- 9:41SPEAKER_03: Uh, well, I think that you could find this drink at the Flat Water Tavern.
- 9:46SPEAKER_03: Uh, and it goes by the name Dark Undertow.
- 9:51SPEAKER_03: Is the name.
- 9:52SPEAKER_03: And it's uh made with uh local water from the dark water oasis.
- 10:01SPEAKER_02: That's located nearby.
- 10:04SPEAKER_02: So you're thinking like undertoe like is in water undertow?
- 10:07SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 10:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I wrote it with a W, not an E.
- 10:12unknown: That's kind of why I asked.
- 10:13SPEAKER_03: I was curious.
- 10:14SPEAKER_03: What's an under T-O-E?
- 10:15SPEAKER_02: I don't know, but I was just talking, we were just talking about Squirreli's nails.
- 10:19SPEAKER_01: So maybe not.
- 10:23SPEAKER_01: The giant toe clippings.
- 10:25unknown: Oh god.
- 10:27SPEAKER_01: Where'd you put yours, Brett?
- 10:28SPEAKER_01: Uh mine comes from the Whispering Willows, and it is the Forest Embrace.
- 10:36SPEAKER_01: Forest Embrace.
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: I like that.
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: That's a good fit for it.
- 10:40SPEAKER_01: Romantic.
- 10:41SPEAKER_01: Do you do elves run this bar?
- 10:44SPEAKER_01: It is.
- 10:44SPEAKER_01: It's in like a like a little glade out in the in the forest, and you just kind of have to stumble upon it.
- 10:52SPEAKER_01: I like that.
- 10:53SPEAKER_01: It's next door to this other cottage that's just made of candy, and kids go in there and don't come out.
- 10:59SPEAKER_02: When you said that, like I got this image of like weeping willows and like sun shining through the weeping willows, and you like you like part it and you walk through, and then there's this beautiful like little wooden with a wooden pub.
- 11:11SPEAKER_02: It's like a forest speakeasy.
- 11:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, exactly.
- 11:15SPEAKER_01: We should stumble upon this sometime.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: I'll think about it.
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: Okay, Phil, where are you taking us?
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: Uh you can get uh one of these beers from Harry, the bar barkeep at D's.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: And this particular beer is called Olive D's.
- 11:38SPEAKER_01: Not worried about it.
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: Is that D-E-E-Z?
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: It is.
- 11:42SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: You can also find on tap walnuts, chestnuts, and hazelnuts.
- 11:47SPEAKER_00: There are three popular beers that Harry the Bugbear serves at D's.
- 11:52SPEAKER_01: Harry the Bugbear.
- 11:54SPEAKER_03: It's good to have a theme, you know?
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: Be consistent.
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: Once I chose D's, it was all downhill.
- 12:00SPEAKER_01: So I I like that these beer, these uh barkeeps are owning their their styles.
- 12:09SPEAKER_02: Does he have billboards everywhere that just say come check out D's nuts?
- 12:14SPEAKER_02: Yep, sure does.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: Harry's D's nuts.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: Come visit Harry at D's Nuts.
- 12:25SPEAKER_00: Sounds good.
- 12:25SPEAKER_00: It works.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: It draws crowds.
- 12:28SPEAKER_02: The marketing would be so easy for that.
- 12:30SPEAKER_02: It'd be it'd be amazing.
- 12:32SPEAKER_02: I love it.
- 12:33SPEAKER_00: So is Harry.
- 12:35SPEAKER_01: So switching over to our challenge rating, we're gonna rank this one from challenge rating one, which is like a an easy welcome to beer, like a cream ale or uh some sort of light easy beer, all the way up to challenge rating 20, which is like your double hopped IPAs.
- 12:51SPEAKER_01: Uh something a little bit more intense.
- 12:53SPEAKER_01: Where is this one gonna land for you guys?
- 12:56SPEAKER_01: Damon.
- 12:57SPEAKER_03: One is the most approachable.
- 12:59SPEAKER_03: Is that what we're saying?
- 13:00SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 13:01SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna.
- 13:02SPEAKER_03: And the top is 20?
- 13:04SPEAKER_03: One to twenty.
- 13:05SPEAKER_03: You would think I would remember the scale.
- 13:06SPEAKER_03: I've done it before.
- 13:07SPEAKER_03: Um I'm gonna scale is also used in DD.
- 13:12SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna say this is okay.
- 13:15SPEAKER_03: One's the most approachable, 20 is the hardest.
- 13:19SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna say a seven.
- 13:23SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna say a seven.
- 13:24SPEAKER_03: Sticking with seven.
- 13:28SPEAKER_01: Acceptable.
- 13:31SPEAKER_01: Bratt approves.
- 13:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 13:34SPEAKER_01: Acknowledged.
- 13:35SPEAKER_01: Well, where's this one coming in?
- 13:37SPEAKER_00: Um, I don't know, I was leaning towards like a four, but when Damon said seven, then I thought maybe mine was too low.
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: I it's pretty easy to drink, but if you're not like a craft beer connoisseur, you don't really like craft beers.
- 13:51SPEAKER_00: I mean, it doesn't just taste like a cream or like a domestic beer you would go pick up off the shelf, right?
- 13:57SPEAKER_00: Like it's got a flavor profile, it tastes like black walnuts, and like that's I don't know, it's maybe a five.
- 14:06SPEAKER_00: We'll bump it up one.
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: I'll go five.
- 14:08SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 14:08SPEAKER_01: Ross, where are you coming in at?
- 14:10SPEAKER_02: I'm actually I uh I was thinking it was gonna be like a two originally, but I uh the more I think about it, I also agree that it's probably a five.
- 14:18SPEAKER_02: Um I think just in terms of flavor, I I don't I don't think there's anything about this, especially in this area, like how we were talking, like it's the walnut capital of the United States, apparently, or whatever.
- 14:29SPEAKER_02: It's like they're used to that type of flavor, right?
- 14:31SPEAKER_02: So I don't think that would hinder anybody at all.
- 14:34SPEAKER_02: So I I think I think a five is respectable.
- 14:36SPEAKER_02: I don't think it's any higher than that.
- 14:38SPEAKER_02: Like there's not noticeable bitterness to it or anything like that.
- 14:41SPEAKER_02: So pretty straightforward.
- 14:42SPEAKER_01: I was gonna come in at five as well.
- 14:44SPEAKER_01: Whoo, triple five.
- 14:46SPEAKER_01: Triple fives.
- 14:47SPEAKER_01: So now, yay or nay.
- 14:49SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna start this one with uh yay.
- 14:51SPEAKER_01: I like this one.
- 14:52SPEAKER_01: Uh my grandpa cracked black walnuts growing up, so it like brings back some nostalgia for me.
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: I would definitely buy this one again.
- 15:00SPEAKER_01: Nice.
- 15:00SPEAKER_02: What about you guys?
- 15:02SPEAKER_02: Uh I I would say yay too.
- 15:04SPEAKER_02: I I like the flavor, it's unique, it's different than other beers that we've had, and the the the rest of the beer profile is pretty I mean it's it complements that walnut flavor really well, and I like that.
- 15:16SPEAKER_02: So I would say yay.
- 15:17SPEAKER_02: I'd have this one again.
- 15:18SPEAKER_03: Is the question, do I want to have this beer again?
- 15:21SPEAKER_03: Would I be willing to have this beer again?
- 15:24SPEAKER_03: Or uh do I feel the need to have this beer again?
- 15:28SPEAKER_03: That's open to your interpretation.
- 15:30SPEAKER_01: Uh you can pick.
- 15:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 15:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 15:32SPEAKER_03: I think I think I think it's a nay for me.
- 15:36SPEAKER_03: That's fair.
- 15:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 15:37SPEAKER_03: I don't feel the I liked it, I enjoyed it, I think it's good.
- 15:40SPEAKER_03: Uh I hope they sell a billion barrels of it.
- 15:44SPEAKER_03: Uh and I I don't really feel the need to have it again.
- 15:48SPEAKER_01: How many walnuts is a billion barrels barrels of beer?
- 15:53SPEAKER_01: That's a lot.
- 15:54SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 15:55SPEAKER_01: A lot.
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: That's a lot of crush nuts.
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: They better hire Harry.
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: Uh I think they press them.
- 16:03SPEAKER_00: Well, fair.
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: Definitely.
- 16:05SPEAKER_00: Um, I don't know that I've ever naid a beer, but I think if someone offered me this, I would drink it again.
- 16:11SPEAKER_00: But uh flavor profile-wise, it's not something I would typically gravitate towards myself.
- 16:17SPEAKER_00: So probably a nay, actually.
- 16:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah, like there's nothing about it that's really like really grabbing my attention.
- 16:23SPEAKER_02: But so just moving forward, I think I think we need to clarify this question because like we're at some point we're gonna try so many beers that it's unlikely we're gonna go back to any of these.
- 16:34SPEAKER_02: So maybe so maybe we should please don't let this hinder your how you're oh you already said yay.
- 16:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm already done.
- 16:39SPEAKER_02: Never mind.
- 16:39SPEAKER_02: That's why I was gonna yeah.
- 16:40SPEAKER_02: Anyway, uh, I I think we should look at this as if somebody offered you one of these.
- 16:45SPEAKER_02: Like you made me think of that when you said that.
- 16:46SPEAKER_02: Like, you know, if somebody offers you a black walnut beer from Piney River Brewing Company, are you gonna say yes to that beer?
- 16:55SPEAKER_02: Because I the odds of us coming back.
- 16:56SPEAKER_02: I mean, we Brett could pick this up in Kansas City, so it's not like we can wander down to the local Walmart and pick up this beer anyway.
- 17:03SPEAKER_02: So it's like I I think just moving forward, especially for the sake of the listeners, I think that's how we should approach this.
- 17:08SPEAKER_03: That's probably good.
- 17:09SPEAKER_03: That's probably a more fair question.
- 17:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I agree.
- 17:12SPEAKER_03: To be honest.
- 17:13SPEAKER_03: Um if that's the question, then I would say, yeah.
- 17:17SPEAKER_03: Like if I went to somebody's house and they say, Oh, I've got some of this, would you like one?
- 17:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah, sure.
- 17:22SPEAKER_03: Sure.
- 17:23SPEAKER_03: Same.
- 17:24SPEAKER_01: Agreed.
- 17:24SPEAKER_01: It's easy drinking enough.
- 17:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 17:27SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 17:28SPEAKER_01: That you guys can get over it.
- 17:31SPEAKER_01: But you're wrong.
- 17:32SPEAKER_01: I mean, it's fair.
- 17:34SPEAKER_01: No.
- 17:34SPEAKER_01: Uh well, you can find this one um somewhere in Kansas City.
- 17:38SPEAKER_01: You can actually pick it up.
- 17:39SPEAKER_01: But this has been the Black Walnut Ale from Piney River Brewing Company.
- 17:43SPEAKER_01: You can learn more about them at PineyRiverbrewing.com.
- 17:46SPEAKER_01: They're out of Bucyrus, Missouri, if that really exists.
