Marqeta and Coinbase expand partnership for stablecoin-funded cards

Marqeta is broadening its six-year collaboration with Coinbase to enable companies to provide payment cards backed by customers’ stablecoin balances. Coinbase will manage the stablecoins and facilitate conversions between digital and traditional currencies, while Marqeta will be responsible for issuing the cards and handling transaction processing. Coinbase’s Base blockchain will provide the onchain settlement infrastructure.
