  [SPEAKER_00]: NFL draft, I believe, was around April 23rd, something like that, and then for agency and earnest starts in a month and a week, March 11th.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So that's what we're marching towards, like that's when we're actually going to get some real significant roster news regarding your Jacksonville Jack Wars and until those dates, we're going to have a lot of mock draft discussion and a lot of free agency discussion.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So the Jag wars as we all know have a cap situation where they're $10 million over the cap, basically.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They have plenty of ability to clear up cap space, bring back players that are currently set to be free agents, maybe bring in a free agent or two from outside the building.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But they also, they don't have a first round pick.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They spent that on Travis Hunter, and so I'm still a huge fan of that move very excited to see him in Jacksonville in 2026, but they do not have a first round pick, so their first pick is at 56 overall.

  [SPEAKER_00]: In this mock draft from Luke Easterling, he does not get into all the compensatory picks.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So even though the Jaguar has have 56 81 88, and a compensatory pick in the first two days of the draft,

  [SPEAKER_00]: Luke Easterling only went through three of those picks here, even though the Jaguars will have four.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So that's just something to keep in mind when we're going through this.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But the Jaguars at 56 overall, he has them taking Connor Liu, the offensive lineman out of Auburn and look.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Connor Liu, I think, is a really good center prospect.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's young, I think he's only 20 years old.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think he's a very good athlete.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Got a ton of experience starting at Auburn and has just steadily developed and looks like a starting center in the NFL.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Did the Jaguar's need a starting center?

  [SPEAKER_00]: And we always hear, I always hear people talking about, we'll just take best available player.

  [SPEAKER_00]: If you have two good players at a position, one of them is a veteran in Robert Hainesy, who is under contract through 2027.

  [SPEAKER_00]: One of them is a rookie who you drafted last year in John O'Manheim, who is under contract through 2025, 2627, 28.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't really see this as a fit for the Jack Wars, unless,

  [SPEAKER_00]: unless the Jaguars believe Conor Luke and also play guard, which he's never done in a college game.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He specifically played center at Auburn, every snap of his career.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So it's a little bit perplexing, but if the Jaguars watch his tape, talk to folks around him and figure out that they feel like he can play guard as well.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Sure, I mean, he's small for a guard, three hundred three pounds is a small guard.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Most of your guards, like if you just look at the Jaguar as current guards, pull them up, like patch them a carry's way bigger than that, as your Cleveland is bigger than that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: These guys are all like 310 plus.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So, um, I don't know, I don't know if it, I don't know if he could play guard for the Jaguars.

  [SPEAKER_00]: If he could, then this could make sense because long term.

  [SPEAKER_00]: you look at the guard's positions.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguar is technically, as a Cleveland, could be a Capcut this year.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that they want that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that that's going to be the case, but they could save like $4 million against the cap of the cut and pre-gune one, even more if they cut him after or post-gune one.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And you can make, for those that aren't clear, you can make that post-gune one cut.

  [SPEAKER_00]: way before June, like you can make it before the first way of free agency.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And then they've got why at Mylim who they drafted last year, who can definitely play some guard.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I know everyone wants the Jaguar to trade Walker Little.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I just don't know who's going to trade for him, honestly.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think the Jack Wars go into 2020, six, with Ezra Cleveland and Patrick McCary, penciled in as you're starting guards.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You have why at myelom who you expect to try to ascend and compete for one of those spots potentially, I think.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And Ezra Cleveland, it's his final year under contract here in Jacksonville in 2026.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Patrick McCary is second year, which the jag wars can get out of his contract following the 20, 20, 26 season.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So there is a pathway for a guard for interior offensive linemen making sense, I just don't think a center-exclusive player makes sense, and I would defer to the jag wars identify Connor Lew and take him at 56, to me that definitely means they believe he can play guard.

  [SPEAKER_00]: and I would defer to them on whether or not they think that that's possible but the players that they currently have that playguard, he doesn't really fit that mold.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean he's just a much smaller player and he quite frankly just looks like a center only based on his stature and skill set and strength level.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Good player though, good center prospect, just maybe not the best fit for the jag wars overall.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So, the jaguars have taken in this scenario, someone who I think that they believe can play guard even though I don't really believe that, so the pick doesn't make a whole lot of sense, not trying to bury Luke Easterling here, but I'm having trouble following

  [SPEAKER_00]: And then the next pick is Zach Y Wheatley, the safety from Penn State at 81 overall.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Like you pop on his tape, I think he's like a true center fielder, a guy that can really just erase space and make big plays.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's aggressive as a run defender as well.

  [SPEAKER_00]: What a fun player to watch on tape.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I still just don't think safety is a spot.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars are going to try to address on day two of the draft.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They literally have Eric Murray, who is penciled in his a starter, Antonio Johnson, who was the highest rated safety in pro football focuses database last year and led the AFC along with Devon Lloyd in interceptions.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, make it make sense to me, uh, I don't know, I think, I think what's happening is a lot of people just kind of look at the Jack Wars roster and they say, well, Eric Murray is a replaceable player.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And they say, I mean, I think that's it basically, Eric Murray's a replaceable player.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I think that's like objectively true.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguar is a love his leadership.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguar is love the way he played last year and he did play very well for them last year.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He just fits Anthony Campanyla's system, the communication.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But even if you think he's replaceable, like you have Antonio Johnson, who you're not trying to take off the field and you have Caleb Branson and you have Rayon Lane.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So it just doesn't feel like it makes a lot of sense, even though that's a player that I really like and Zach you Wheatly.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we've talked about a lot of safety because a lot of people are mocking safety to the Jaguars on day two.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You've seen the end of end from Oregon.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You've seen our guy from Toledo as well, but I just don't see it.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I will say, I might like Wheatley more than either of those guys, he's a fun player, really, really fun.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But safety would be another odd decision in my opinion for the Jaguars.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And then you get to 88 overall, which is the final pick that Luke Easterling did here, and you get to Dale and Everett, the corner back out of Georgia,

  [SPEAKER_00]: Ever it's an interesting one.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Cornerback right now is a glaring need for the Jaguars in my opinion, outside cornerbacks specifically because you have Travis Hunter who you're penciling in as CB1 outside.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You have Jordan Lewis and Jarian Jones who can both play inside.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think Jarian Jones showed that he does have the versatility to play outside as well.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But ideally you have another outside corner.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Dale and Everett could be that guy.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's got, like, prototypical size experience at the, you know, highest level of college football played at Georgia for a long time and made a lot of plays and played in really big games and so a player you feel comfortable in that regard.

  [SPEAKER_00]: To me, Dylan is a guy that plays very tough against the run, which you want to see for a Jaguar as corner, because that was being able to stop the run is what allowed the Jaguars to find so much success down the stretch as a past defense unit.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So you want somebody who's going to continue to be a positive against the run, and this is if you lose Buster Brown.

  [SPEAKER_00]: If you bring back Buster Brown, I just don't see any path to the Jaguar's taking a corner on day two because then you have Travis Hunter, Buster Brown, Jordan Lewis, Jarion Jones, and you're probably bringing back Christian Braswell who is a, uh, I think a good developmental player for them.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So this is all assuming, you know, at corner that Buster Brown is not back, which my best guess is that he is back.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think the Jaguar is really push hard to try to retain Buster Brown and not go into the draft needing to take a corner.

  [SPEAKER_00]: We'll see if that's how it ends up playing out.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But, Dale and Everett in this situation if Buster Brown is gone, I think you bring him in.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's got a lot of experience in Zone coverage with the Jaguars or primarily his own coverage team, but I do think he also has kind of the physical skillset to potentially be a man cover corner for you as well.

  [SPEAKER_00]: This pick to me would hinge on like what the Jaguars view from Dale and Everett for from a mental standpoint, because we've seen he has the physical ability to play corner in the NFL.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He has the the height, the weight, the speed,

  [SPEAKER_00]: The experience, do you think that he can be asset mentally in your defense?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Because that's where Buster Brown thrives.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's not the biggest strongest fastest any of those things, but he is so honed and trained and just his mental processing and understanding of the scheme is so high.

  [SPEAKER_00]: and his work ethic as well, that that's why he thrives.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Can Dale and Everett be that type of guy, too?

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't see as much of the incredible zone instincts from Dale and Everett that I see from players like Chandler Rivers, Chris Johnson, DeAngelo Ponds.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And he's much bigger than Ponds and Chandler Rivers, but

  [SPEAKER_00]: It's not always the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog and in zone coverage a lot of times, it's about just your ability to understand what offenses are trying to throw at you.

  [SPEAKER_00]: thing there for the Jaguars and their potential interest in Dale and Ever if Buster Brown does leave is do they believe he has the mental acuity and sharpness and I'm not saying he doesn't.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I'm just saying I don't necessarily see that as much, I don't think that that pops as much as some of the other guys that we just talked about at the corner back position.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So overall, Dale and Ever at corner back, that could make a lot of sense for the Jaguars.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So Key Wheatley or Zacky Wheatley from Penn State, the safety, I love the player.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It's funny because the one pick here that like actually makes sense for the Jaguar's current roster construction is daily and ever, but it's also my least favorite player.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I really like Conorloo at Center.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I just don't think that Conorloo is a fit for the Jaguar's at Center.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think Jonah Monheim is going to be a good starting center once Robert Hainesy is no longer the starting center in Jacksonville.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I like his game a lot.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And Wheatley, I like him a lot too, but like the path, the path to him being a starter is either Caleb Ransson, not being able to cut it, which I don't believe that that's the case.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars moving on from Eric Murray, which they definitely could after 2026.

  [SPEAKER_00]: There's no guarantee of that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Or the Jaguars letting Antonio Johnson walk after 2026, which I don't think that they should be interested in that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So again, just kind of a couple puzzling picks and one that makes sense, but might not be my favorite actual potential corner for the Jaguars in that spot.
