- 32:23Speaker 13: was fans at day one.
- 32:24Speaker 2: Appreciate that old.
- 32:28Speaker 3: I remember that day because in college I played point
- 32:31Speaker 3: guard and shooting guard.
- 32:32Speaker 2: And then they was like, yeah, he are starting shooting guard. Nigga.
- 32:35Speaker 2: I'm six one, nigga, you six eight.
- 32:37Speaker 1: I said, damn.
- 32:38Speaker 2: My daddy said you ain't gonna play nigga.
- 32:42Speaker 3: I said, ain't no way. He don't play parall forward.
- 32:45Speaker 3: They was like, nah, he the two guard. I said, Lord,
- 32:47Speaker 3: it's over with And I didn't.
- 32:49Speaker 2: Play it right.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Nah, chill.
- 32:53Speaker 17: The point guard position when you come into the NBA,
- 32:55Speaker 17: especially for young guys, that's probably, you know, the hardest
- 32:59Speaker 17: position to play. It's kind of equivalent to football as
- 33:02Speaker 17: a quarterback coming into the NFL, that shit hard, man.
- 33:04Speaker 13: It takes a while. You gotta league grown as men
- 33:07Speaker 13: who've been in the.
- 33:08Speaker 17: League for five, ten, twelve years, and if you don't
- 33:12Speaker 17: come in with the right demeanor, you know what I mean,
- 33:14Speaker 17: you can get lost.
- 33:15Speaker 13: So his opportunity came, it can't It didn't.
- 33:19Speaker 17: Come at the time he wanted to because at the time,
- 33:22Speaker 17: you know, we were playing in the playoffs and he
- 33:26Speaker 17: didn't get to play till the second round and d
- 33:28Speaker 17: Rose was the MVP.
- 33:31Speaker 2: Hold on, nigga, you saying it like that.
- 33:36Speaker 1: Job, nigg bro. He did do his thing.
- 33:40Speaker 17: I'm just saying, you know, sometimes you can ask her
- 33:43Speaker 17: something then it's gonna come in away.
- 33:44Speaker 1: You may not think.
- 33:47Speaker 17: Kirk Heinrich got hurt and he stepped in. He had
- 33:49Speaker 17: to play the point. Yeah, he held it down, but
- 33:51Speaker 17: it was tough. I ain't gonna lie because that year
- 33:56Speaker 17: de Rose, well he was the youngest MVP. Oh man,
- 33:59Speaker 17: he was a wants to but we end up winning
- 34:01Speaker 17: game one, I'm thinking we really had a chance.
- 34:02Speaker 13: But when they came here, I don't know he had
- 34:04Speaker 13: another level.
- 34:08Speaker 2: They had forty five. I said, Joe Switch. She said, Thigg,
- 34:13Speaker 2: it's so mad you wanted this now, Nigga, I ain't
- 34:16Speaker 2: dream about this.
- 34:17Speaker 13: One right, and you gotta gauge yourself.
- 34:19Speaker 1: You know you're playing your VP gage.
- 34:21Speaker 13: You're a little bit.
- 34:23Speaker 3: After game three, it was Mother's Day. Ironically, my mama
- 34:27Speaker 3: called me and said, baby, it's okay. I said, no,
- 34:30Speaker 3: everybody mad at me. She said, why they say he
- 34:35Speaker 3: had forty five? Mama, she said, worry about he did
- 34:38Speaker 3: that to everybody.
- 34:40Speaker 2: Shout out to my mom.
- 34:41Speaker 1: Man for so.
- 34:43Speaker 2: Oh.
- 34:45Speaker 5: I would to ask you what was like for you
- 34:46Speaker 5: when you first came into the Hawks organization?
- 34:48Speaker 17: Man, the Hawks organization, Uh Man, it didn't it didn't
- 34:54Speaker 17: seem it didn't seem like the NBA.
- 34:56Speaker 1: I'm not gonna lie. You know.
- 34:57Speaker 17: I had just left Phoenix. I had just left Phoenix.
- 35:00Speaker 17: We had won sixty two games. Yeah, and we were
- 35:02Speaker 17: the number one the number one seed in the playoffs
- 35:04Speaker 17: that year. So coming here, prior to me coming here,
- 35:08Speaker 17: they had only won eleven games.
- 35:12Speaker 2: Ship it, say, y'all put more respect on my dog
- 35:17Speaker 2: because they don't want eleven.
- 35:18Speaker 11: Games when you can't here, when I can't.
- 35:19Speaker 2: Hear y'all was the playoff team shut out to my dog.
- 35:24Speaker 17: And then nah, they had won eleven games before I
- 35:28Speaker 17: got here. When I got we only won twenty nine.
- 35:30Speaker 3: To hurt.
- 35:31Speaker 13: We won twenty nine in the first game, I think,
- 35:34Speaker 13: I mean the first year.
- 35:35Speaker 17: Then the second year we end up winning like forty,
- 35:38Speaker 17: almost made the playoffs.
- 35:39Speaker 2: And then by the time you got here, y'all was lit.
- 35:42Speaker 13: Yeah, it was.
- 35:42Speaker 17: We had already been through the through the rough part,
- 35:45Speaker 17: you know what I mean? Like literally, we go in
- 35:47Speaker 17: the rin man, it's like three four hundred people in
- 35:49Speaker 17: that it did not feel like the NBA.
- 35:52Speaker 2: But what was it like when you left the arena here?
- 35:59Speaker 2: I know it. I'm trying to think I was on
- 36:03Speaker 2: enisoda that we were sad.
- 36:04Speaker 17: My had fun though the first year we didn't really
- 36:07Speaker 17: hang out a lot, man, Like what it was too depressing.
- 36:10Speaker 1: Bro, You get your ass be mother and you think
- 36:14Speaker 1: you're gonna go out in part. I couldn't do it.
- 36:16Speaker 1: Its just I couldn't do it. So it took a
- 36:18Speaker 1: little while.
- 36:19Speaker 2: Oh that's why you was who you are.
- 36:21Speaker 13: By the time you got here, you already know what
- 36:24Speaker 13: it was.
- 36:26Speaker 1: You was comfortable at that point.
- 36:28Speaker 2: Oh man, they fucked my life up.
- 36:30Speaker 3: Man.
- 36:32Speaker 2: They showed me what I've been Listen.
- 36:34Speaker 3: I know were gonna get back to you being a
- 36:36Speaker 3: professional you are, but I'm gonna tell you, y'all some
- 36:38Speaker 3: professional go outers.
- 36:40Speaker 2: Yeah they went.
- 36:41Speaker 1: To the club.
- 36:42Speaker 3: No, no, no, the whole team went to the club,
- 36:44Speaker 3: so don't worry about it. We used to win games
- 36:47Speaker 3: and the whole team would go out and shout out
- 36:49Speaker 3: to Joe. He didn't hate me. Everybody else made me
- 36:51Speaker 3: do rookie ship. He didn't, but he would always invite
- 36:54Speaker 3: me to the club and he went. He ain't go

- 39:12Speaker 17: what I did for Jeff is what those dudes did

- 39:57Speaker 13: It was something in Atlanta every night. And were we was,
- 39:59Speaker 13: we was moving, We was moving around.

- 40:04Speaker 3: like to tell nobody business on. He probably got these
- 40:06Speaker 3: cars from where. It's a long time ago, but he
- 40:08Speaker 3: used to have a ghost right. Y'all know Rose Royce
- 40:11Speaker 3: had motherfucker with nine. But he ain't give a fuck.
- 40:15Speaker 3: He lets you driving shit. Me and Jordan hopped in

- 41:44Speaker 3: We played at Charlotte. Charlotte bout forty five minute flight.
- 41:48Speaker 3: I went to compound after I ain't playing so I
- 41:51Speaker 3: want tire. I don't want to tire.
- 41:53Speaker 2: I was dood until they threw a little lass in
- 41:55Speaker 2: there against the road.
- 41:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm gonna let you had a moment to get
- 42:00Speaker 3: but I remember we about to play, were about to
- 42:03Speaker 3: play d Rose in them and Kurt he heard his
- 42:05Speaker 3: leg the last game of that series and the whole
- 42:08Speaker 3: year I've been talking about.
- 42:09Speaker 2: Man, I'm better than this dude.
- 42:10Speaker 1: I'm better than that dude.

- 42:13Speaker 3: Joe like, man, man, you keep asking for ship mane
- 42:16Speaker 3: that motherfuck don't come main man man. And then next thing,
- 42:20Speaker 3: you know, the nigga get hurt, you know how, like
- 42:22Speaker 3: you ready for the moment, but you really ain't ready.
- 42:25Speaker 3: Nigga said, Kurt, get hurt. Coach, Shit, we're gonna go
- 42:28Speaker 3: with you. T I said, damn for really.
- 42:33Speaker 1: That nigga.
- 42:33Speaker 2: Jo said, Man, you got the UV, so I'm ready.
- 42:42Speaker 15: Man.
- 42:42Speaker 2: He said, yeah, all right. Nigga walked out, shout out
- 42:45Speaker 2: to my man. Joe.
- 42:46Speaker 3: Though now a good time does a hog push? I
- 42:49Speaker 3: want to ask you know what I'm saying. You went
- 42:50Speaker 3: to Brooklyn nets. You know what I'm saying, free agency?
- 42:52Speaker 3: You have to play with my dog.
- 42:56Speaker 2: I didn't go to I didn't go to free agency. Sorry,
- 42:59Speaker 2: you gott tray to go to Brooklyn free agency.
- 43:01Speaker 17: I got traded right when Danny Ferry took over for
- 43:05Speaker 17: the Hawks. I was the first person we traded.
- 43:08Speaker 2: Yeah, me too.
- 43:10Speaker 3: Uh.
- 43:11Speaker 1: He traded me to He traded me to Brooklyn, and
- 43:14Speaker 1: you know the rest is history.
- 43:16Speaker 2: And you know what, you know, I got a bonus
- 43:19Speaker 2: hold on. He ain't like.
- 43:21Speaker 1: Right here.
- 43:22Speaker 2: He teld me, pull your fucking pants up. I pulled
- 43:26Speaker 2: them up to my ankle.
- 43:28Speaker 1: You know.
- 43:28Speaker 17: You know the weirdest part about that is uh, I
- 43:31Speaker 17: used to have because all the guys who I hung
- 43:33Speaker 17: out with in the summer, you know, we played, they
- 43:35Speaker 17: played ball, whether it was overseas or whatnot. So when
- 43:37Speaker 17: they came over to the States in the summer, I
- 43:40Speaker 17: would get him a spot on the ross on the
- 43:42Speaker 17: summer League, on the Lanta Hawks Summer League team. So
- 43:45Speaker 17: I got one of my homeboys on the summer league team.
- 43:47Speaker 17: Even though I just got traded, I'm still coming to
- 43:49Speaker 17: the arena every day for practice, and I see Danny
- 43:52Speaker 17: Faerry every day. That man never spoke to me, never
- 43:55Speaker 17: said nothing to me. He never looked my way and hey,
- 43:59Speaker 17: look I.
- 44:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I like that energy.
- 44:06Speaker 17: That was probably the weirdest thing because I still had
- 44:09Speaker 17: a great, uh a great vibe with the coaches. But
- 44:13Speaker 17: everybody was on pins anita when he took over because
- 44:15Speaker 17: they already knew that at some point, you know, he
- 44:17Speaker 17: was getting everybody about him.
- 44:19Speaker 3: You know, I ain't gonna lie. You know, I was
- 44:20Speaker 3: mad at you, bro for about a year. You got
- 44:24Speaker 3: trade to Brooklyn. He was like, this is my first year,
- 44:27Speaker 3: gonna start my second year.
- 44:28Speaker 2: You was like, he was like, man, I finally get
- 44:31Speaker 2: to play with a great point guard.
- 44:32Speaker 1: I said, dam And the sad point is we got jo.
- 44:39Speaker 1: Hold on, hold on though, tell him, tell him how
- 44:43Speaker 1: you used to bustee. Will all start.
- 44:48Speaker 5: Taking control of your finances? Could be a daunted task, man.
- 44:50Speaker 3: You got over draft fees, mispayments, and that regret of
- 44:53Speaker 3: always not saving enough money. Well, if you want to

- 46:46Speaker 1: gonna be in the Hall of Fame if.
- 46:47Speaker 17: You ain't in a halo. The bullshit when I went
- 46:49Speaker 17: to Brooklyn. We probably ain't beat y'all too many times,
- 46:51Speaker 17: but that was one.
- 46:53Speaker 1: Yeah, you had a good guy and ship with guardy.
- 46:56Speaker 2: I think Kyle might have been guardy.
- 46:58Speaker 13: Now that my mayor my man.
- 47:03Speaker 20: Hey, look, you know, you know a funny story. I
- 47:06Speaker 20: played against us when that game he had thirty who
- 47:13Speaker 20: he did what Jeff had? Ain't doubt o peas Louise.
- 47:29Speaker 2: Sey.
- 47:33Speaker 1: Hey, I appreciate that.
- 47:35Speaker 3: Hey, that nigga and take his ass out of their
- 47:39Speaker 3: I had twelve niggas.
- 47:43Speaker 1: That's the game. That's funny to the boy.
- 47:46Speaker 3: That's funny as fun I like you matter fact say,
- 47:49Speaker 3: after shock, I talked to you then, Joe, you said
- 47:54Speaker 3: you had a story. Ah, you should have had a
- 47:56Speaker 3: story about col gorpor.
- 47:58Speaker 2: Oh.
- 47:59Speaker 13: I played when we was eighteen playing A played against
- 48:02Speaker 13: him in the national uh oh yeah championship for the
- 48:06Speaker 13: Nationals AU Nationals Championship game.
- 48:09Speaker 2: Who did you play for?
- 48:10Speaker 1: I played for the Arkansas Hawks.
- 48:12Speaker 2: Oh they legendary.
- 48:14Speaker 1: Yeah, we played again.
- 48:15Speaker 17: I I don't remember the name of the team, but
- 48:16Speaker 17: I know we played against him and a you in
- 48:19Speaker 17: the championship game, Calvin Nice for a minute.
- 48:22Speaker 3: Yeah, Arkansas Hawks for US is a legendary team because
- 48:25Speaker 3: Mike Conley junior, he grew up playing for Yeah.
- 48:29Speaker 13: Yeah, because his dad want to uh Arkansas Yeah, alumni.
- 48:33Speaker 3: Speaking of Arkansas, y'all got a good coach this year.
- 48:36Speaker 3: I'm excited for your team. Many got Colapio. You had
- 48:39Speaker 3: him last year. It was the first start. But now
- 48:41Speaker 3: y'all gotta y'all got a whip over there.
- 48:44Speaker 1: Yeah, we got some talent. You help a recruit though,
- 48:48Speaker 1: are you helping recruit Chrish?
- 48:55Speaker 13: We got?
- 48:56Speaker 17: Hello, there you go, we got we got. We got
- 48:58Speaker 17: some great recruits. But you know, they don't necessarily lead
- 49:02Speaker 17: the championships.
- 49:02Speaker 1: Bro.
- 49:03Speaker 17: You gotta get them to buy in. So I think
- 49:04Speaker 17: that's gonna be the hardest thing. But having coach Kyle,
- 49:07Speaker 17: you know we're gonna have talent.
- 49:09Speaker 1: That's fun.
- 49:09Speaker 13: I mean, so that's all we can ask you for
- 49:11Speaker 13: at this point.
- 49:12Speaker 2: That's the fun. I want to ask you this question.
- 49:14Speaker 3: You got a legendary highlight one of the craziest crossovers
- 49:17Speaker 3: against Paul Pierce.
- 49:17Speaker 2: Please talk us.
- 49:18Speaker 3: Through that moment, please please, because he end up being
- 49:21Speaker 3: your teammates. So I know y'all addressed that at some point.
- 49:25Speaker 3: Like I tell y'all, Paul Pierce, Paul Pierce was my vic.
- 49:30Speaker 1: Oh g brou dude. He gave me hell every day
- 49:34Speaker 1: as a rookie.
- 49:35Speaker 17: Mind you Boston, they weren't a great team, you know,
- 49:40Speaker 17: prior to us get by the time we got this
- 49:42Speaker 17: kind of like by the time you got that, Atlanta
- 49:43Speaker 17: was a playoff team, but they hadn't made the playoffs
- 49:46Speaker 17: since they had Paul Pierce and Antoine Walker, so they
- 49:49Speaker 17: had three first round picks ten eleven and like twenty two.
- 49:53Speaker 17: So we was I had two other guys on me
- 49:55Speaker 17: who were rookies, and Paul Pierce used to like he
- 49:58Speaker 17: hates us every day, bro, but he was like he
- 50:01Speaker 17: was probably the most prolific scorer at that time. Like
- 50:04Speaker 17: I think he led the league in scoring, uh throughout
- 50:07Speaker 17: that whole season. I know he finished probably top three
- 50:09Speaker 17: in like thirty twenty nine, thirty A game.
- 50:14Speaker 3: Man.
- 50:14Speaker 17: Listen, listen, I'm saying, even if he had to be
- 50:17Speaker 17: in one, one, o two, I guarantee he was at
- 50:20Speaker 17: least top three, top four and scoring.
- 50:23Speaker 3: And like.
- 50:26Speaker 1: Nigga, tell you.
- 50:29Speaker 17: Listen to the story, Nigga, So listen with all that.
- 50:32Speaker 17: I never forgot that how he used to go at
- 50:34Speaker 17: us and mess with us all the time. So to
- 50:36Speaker 17: get that little get back at him, you bring it
- 50:38Speaker 17: up to him. Now he gets sensitive about that him.
- 50:41Speaker 3: I can't wait to see his said, I'll tell we talk.
- 50:44Speaker 3: We play that cross over them. There once a more
- 50:47Speaker 3: that nigga touched the floor and start reaching for marbles
- 50:49Speaker 3: and domino and shit. Nah, And you had a crazy highlight.
- 50:55Speaker 3: So before I got before I got drafted to the Hawks,
- 50:59Speaker 3: you hit d way and you played the Miami Heat.
- 51:02Speaker 3: Y'all was balling and stuff. And then you played the
- 51:04Speaker 3: Boston Celtics in a series wherey'all went Game seven and
- 51:08Speaker 3: you hit a step back.
- 51:09Speaker 2: I don't know who was called? Was Rey yeality, it
- 51:11Speaker 2: was Paul again? Damn which one you hit the deep
- 51:15Speaker 2: step back?
- 51:15Speaker 1: Three? Here?
- 51:18Speaker 2: It was Posy.
- 51:19Speaker 3: Yeah, that's when I started watching the Hawk. I used
- 51:21Speaker 3: to play with y'all on two K and I was like, yeah,
- 51:24Speaker 3: that nigga Joe Different. I ain't realized you was six eight.
- 51:27Speaker 3: I thought she was like six four.
- 51:28Speaker 1: So that was my third year here.
- 51:30Speaker 2: That the first time. Yeah, y'all, what was that like?
- 51:34Speaker 3: Because the atmosphere in the playoffs when the Hawks was good,
- 51:37Speaker 3: it's crazy. I want to know what it was like
- 51:39Speaker 3: for y'all to be in the playoff for the first time.
- 51:41Speaker 2: What was the atmosphere?
- 51:42Speaker 17: Luck it was us being in the playoffs for the
- 51:45Speaker 17: first time that year was pretty much everything I envisioned.
- 51:47Speaker 17: Come in here, meaning and Boston ain't gonna lie. We
- 51:50Speaker 17: wouldn't even compete. They was thrashing, so like the first
- 51:53Speaker 17: two games, like, man, they're.
- 51:54Speaker 13: Gonna sweep them boards, ain't gonna be nothing. Then they
- 51:57Speaker 13: came to Atlanta.
- 51:58Speaker 17: I've never seen Atlanta is so crump like any and
- 52:03Speaker 17: every celebrity wh was.
- 52:04Speaker 13: On the front road, from t I to JD Ludacris,
- 52:07Speaker 13: all them dudes.
- 52:07Speaker 17: Man, they were showing us love and support, and honestly
- 52:11Speaker 17: it was like the sixth the sixth man that we
- 52:12Speaker 17: needed because they kept giving us whole energy and anytime
- 52:16Speaker 17: Boston made the runs like they couldn't was standing here
- 52:19Speaker 17: in Atlanta like I don't care what it was. They
- 52:21Speaker 17: didn't win a game here, and they didn't. So we
- 52:24Speaker 17: took them seven Cleveland where Lebron took them seven. Then
- 52:28Speaker 17: they won the championship in six or less. Yeah, so
- 52:31Speaker 17: we had we had a decent run, bro we had
- 52:33Speaker 17: decent run there.
- 52:33Speaker 15: Yet.
- 52:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I think I always say to these guys like
- 52:37Speaker 3: our team that we had my rookie year, even my
- 52:40Speaker 3: second year. We were just ahead of our time. Like
- 52:44Speaker 3: how Wood played. We switched everything because you had.
- 52:47Speaker 1: Al at the five, you got Josh at the four.
- 52:49Speaker 17: They neither wanted well they both probably powered forwards, which
- 52:52Speaker 17: would be great in today's game.
- 52:54Speaker 13: But I wasn't shooting three.
- 52:56Speaker 1: Like you know what I mean.
- 52:59Speaker 3: But just think about you had that team right now,
- 53:02Speaker 3: like with Al Horford, the way we played like you
- 53:05Speaker 3: was you was a one through four really, but you
- 53:07Speaker 3: can you was playing the three. You had Bib at
- 53:09Speaker 3: the one and then Marvin and then you still had
- 53:12Speaker 3: Jamal Crawford as a sixth man. I'm like, if we
- 53:15Speaker 3: had that team in today's basketball Atlanta, howson win a championship?
- 53:20Speaker 1: Bro? Oh yeah, game would be a we for sure.
- 53:24Speaker 2: Hell on.
- 53:26Speaker 1: Nah nah nah. I love y'all probably.
- 53:30Speaker 6: Boy boy in today's games, Joe, I love you to death.
- 53:34Speaker 6: With that nigga over there, I love him to depth.
- 53:36Speaker 6: I love him to death. Y'all ain't winning no championship,
- 53:41Speaker 6: and I'm gonna lets you'll get you ship out because
- 53:43Speaker 6: y'all haveing no moment, Big Brol, Little Bro.
- 53:47Speaker 1: A championship is crazy? You straight?
- 53:52Speaker 13: You sure?
- 53:52Speaker 3: Bro?
- 53:53Speaker 1: I'm saying though, like let's let's.
- 53:54Speaker 6: Keep it real, and I don't mean to fuck up
- 53:56Speaker 6: the big bro little bro moment. But but that team Joe,
- 54:01Speaker 6: you was a mind. When I first seen you, I
- 54:03Speaker 6: thought you was AI nigga. I thought she was the
- 54:04Speaker 6: first AI.
- 54:05Speaker 1: I told him.
- 54:06Speaker 6: I said, Bro, this is the biggest two guard I've
- 54:08Speaker 6: ever seen in my life. Chest busting out of the jersey.
- 54:11Speaker 1: Pause. Respect, But I swear.
- 54:14Speaker 6: To God, Bro, I don't know if y'all could beat
- 54:16Speaker 6: that Oklahoma City Thunder team right now?
- 54:19Speaker 1: Bro, why not be a good one? Why not? I mean,
- 54:25Speaker 1: if y'all made it to the finals, I give y'all
- 54:28Speaker 1: one or two games today.
- 54:30Speaker 2: The seven we hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on,
- 54:32Speaker 2: hold on, hold on, and.
- 54:35Speaker 6: Y'all had y'all have some killers, Bro, y'all was the coachers.
- 54:39Speaker 6: But I swear to got that have been the today's game.
- 54:42Speaker 6: I can't just I can't just sit up here and
- 54:44Speaker 6: let you say.
- 54:45Speaker 1: Y'all gonna win a championship. Now say say y'all be
- 54:50Speaker 1: a two, three, four five seed?
- 54:52Speaker 16: Cool?
- 54:53Speaker 1: But as ship y'all, y'all disrespecting today's game.
- 54:58Speaker 11: I hate that nigga, man, that's my nigger to them,
- 55:01Speaker 11: but you should. But y'all asked why y'a always trying
- 55:05Speaker 11: to humble me in my moment. I'm not trying to
- 55:06Speaker 11: humble you. But you just said the championship is so easy, Bro,
- 55:09Speaker 11: the NBA ain't swing. Look, God, dam any seen Joe
- 55:12Speaker 11: play forty seven eight?
- 55:14Speaker 1: Na, Joe's Joe. Couldn't nobody fuck with Joe? Get up
- 55:18Speaker 1: at forty two up here? That's the problem, really hard, Joe,
- 55:22Speaker 1: get you a shot.
- 55:23Speaker 2: Hey, Joe's gonna guard this.
- 55:24Speaker 10: Yea.
- 55:25Speaker 2: It might have been long night.
- 55:26Speaker 1: Joe ain't wait.
- 55:30Speaker 13: Long.
- 55:30Speaker 2: Not long now, it's been long long. Listen, y'all is
- 55:33Speaker 2: gonna have to cancel.
- 55:34Speaker 1: Each other now, y'all. I'm boyshit though, y'all team it
- 55:38Speaker 1: was fine and been a longe night for a lot
- 55:40Speaker 1: of people.
- 55:42Speaker 2: I wouldn't guard.
- 55:43Speaker 6: I wanted to ask you, though, how was it going
- 55:45Speaker 6: from like that Phoenix team and stepping into that leadership
- 55:49Speaker 6: bro with the Hawks? Was that like a big transition
- 55:52Speaker 6: for you?
- 55:52Speaker 1: Was it easy for you?
- 55:53Speaker 2: Nah?
- 55:54Speaker 17: It was a huge transition for me because I'm just
- 55:56Speaker 17: a chill, laid back I ain't no roight rod dude.
- 55:59Speaker 13: I ain't gonna be out here, you know.
- 56:01Speaker 17: Trying to hype you up this and the third I'm
- 56:03Speaker 17: a guy who kind of just leaves by example.
- 56:05Speaker 1: So uh, you know, we.
- 56:07Speaker 17: Professionals at the end of the day, we expect everybody
- 56:09Speaker 17: to come ready to play, you know what I mean?
- 56:11Speaker 1: Yeah, because y'all here, it was a U and that
- 56:14Speaker 1: was a championship. Take what that Phoenix team?
- 56:18Speaker 17: Yeah, we only had one year together, bro, one year.
- 56:20Speaker 17: You give us three years together, we at least get one.
- 56:23Speaker 1: Nah, that's a fact.
- 56:24Speaker 2: And I want to ask you this.
- 56:25Speaker 3: A lot of people discredit Steve Ash, say he didn't
- 56:27Speaker 3: deserve two MVPs.
- 56:28Speaker 2: But how good was he player? With a player like that?
- 56:31Speaker 1: Man?
- 56:31Speaker 3: Uh?
- 56:34Speaker 2: Nash was?
- 56:34Speaker 1: He was?
- 56:35Speaker 17: He was great, bro, But he was great because he
- 56:38Speaker 17: understood the guys who were surrounded around him.
- 56:41Speaker 1: You know, you got a march stout of mine who.
- 56:43Speaker 13: Was damn man child, you know what I mean, since
- 56:46Speaker 13: he came into the league like he won.
- 56:48Speaker 1: Rookie of the Year over y'all mean facts.
- 56:52Speaker 17: Then you got a Parenter, an All Star, and Sean
- 56:54Speaker 17: Marion who you ain't got to run no plays for
- 56:56Speaker 17: and he gonna get twenty and ten every night. And
- 57:00Speaker 17: then you got Quinn Richardson who came over from the Clippers,
- 57:03Speaker 17: who led the league in three point makes that year. Man,
- 57:07Speaker 17: I didn't even know this needs to shoot threes. I
- 57:10Speaker 17: because want we should play the Clippers in Q, they
- 57:13Speaker 17: would run a turn three. It's just a post up
- 57:15Speaker 17: player every time. So I didn't even know he could
- 57:16Speaker 17: shoot the way he could shoot. And I ended up
- 57:19Speaker 17: leading the league in free throw percentage at forty eight
- 57:22Speaker 17: forty nine percent from three, and Nash took the back seat,
- 57:26Speaker 17: to be honest with you, because he could have averaged
- 57:28Speaker 17: twenty five easily, but he settled for sixteen points and
- 57:32Speaker 17: thirteen assists.
- 57:34Speaker 13: You know what I mean.
- 57:35Speaker 1: So uh.
- 57:37Speaker 13: And I think, yeah, he won MVP with that, we
- 57:39Speaker 13: were the best.
- 57:39Speaker 1: Team in the league.
- 57:45Speaker 2: That's Kobe for shit. Joe said it was it.
- 57:49Speaker 1: It was Steve Nay pretty one. Well, then they.
- 57:53Speaker 2: Tried to say it was Kobe undt, I said Steve.
- 57:55Speaker 1: Nash sh.
- 57:58Speaker 17: Hey, man, I think when you win, obviously everybody gets rewarded, right,
- 58:03Speaker 17: That's a fact, considering the fact when he he came up,
- 58:06Speaker 17: we wasn't even a playoff team the year before. Yeah, facts,
- 58:10Speaker 17: and then we end up making to the Western Conference Final.
- 58:13Speaker 2: That's the MVP word.
- 58:17Speaker 17: Against the Dallas series, the series I got hurt against
- 58:19Speaker 17: Dallas and that man putting a forty three sixteen thirty
- 58:25Speaker 17: seven fifteenth like crazy.
- 58:28Speaker 1: So people thanks.
- 58:29Speaker 2: People forget that older, people forget that older.
- 58:32Speaker 1: Yeah, they do, forget that. I forget.
- 58:34Speaker 13: Look, but you know he wanted to get back anyway
- 58:36Speaker 13: because Dallas didn't want to resign him.
- 58:37Speaker 1: So you know he was they gonna get the best
- 58:39Speaker 1: he was on. He was a beast.
- 58:41Speaker 3: Broh, my boy be here, double cup be good over there, brother.
- 58:47Speaker 1: Hey boy, this this motherfucker tequila kicking mind. I ain't
- 58:52Speaker 1: gonna lie ill fuck with yoe, with y'all taking toes.
- 58:57Speaker 3: The way you here though, Man, you guys the flight
- 58:59Speaker 3: back here, that's what he's drinking water.
- 59:02Speaker 2: He just fake it.
- 59:03Speaker 1: What you like that song?
- 59:05Speaker 2: I'm gonna tell you a story about that song.
- 59:08Speaker 1: That nigga right there.
- 59:08Speaker 2: That's how I met him because he said he had.
- 59:12Speaker 6: No no no, no no no no, you get me

- 1:01:19Speaker 3: No, we really do that because when I came to Atlanta,
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: that was the vibe. So like even to see like
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: Metro kind of bring that vibe back a little bit,
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: that was a vibe.
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: But like them.
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: Songs like show out all that wa you had me
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: dancing in the club.

- 1:01:38Speaker 19: No, I think we were just trying to like do
- 1:01:39Speaker 19: something fun for me. I grew up as a student
- 1:01:41Speaker 19: of the game. Like I used to go to ear
- 1:01:43Speaker 19: Wax and ship like that, go get records and CDs
- 1:01:45Speaker 19: and read the booklet you know what I'm saying. So
- 1:01:47Speaker 19: like I was really a student of what's going on
- 1:01:48Speaker 19: and not just ship from Atlanta, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: Like everything, whether it's d blocking them.
- 1:01:53Speaker 19: DMX whoever like one hundred three thousand autumn Like, so
- 1:01:56Speaker 19: when I got my opportunity, it was about just pouring
- 1:01:58Speaker 19: that back into where.
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: What made me fall in love with music? You know
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: what I'm saying?
- 1:02:01Speaker 19: So same thing with the Metro. I think it's just
- 1:02:03Speaker 19: about making music fun again.
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: Literally, what was that like when like like we just
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: played Turn Up and like everybody still get hype for that?
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: That's so vibe? What's that like for you?
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: I just love.
- 1:02:18Speaker 19: I'm a person that's built out of reciprocity, bro, to
- 1:02:20Speaker 19: be honest, So anytime that you can give your all
- 1:02:23Speaker 19: or put your effort and energy into something and get
- 1:02:25Speaker 19: something back the same way, that's love, you know what
- 1:02:27Speaker 19: I mean?
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: So, Bro, you literally literally one of the biggest Like
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: who who put you in the booth? Like did you
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: just man?
- 1:02:36Speaker 19: I've been doing this shit since we had boomboxes with
- 1:02:38Speaker 19: the little cassette taping, we stuff and paper in the
- 1:02:40Speaker 19: side to wrap over the karaoke machine.
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: Like whoever that is hold as fun? Because y'all was
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: emotional as fun? She said, Nigga, I'm thirty.
- 1:02:53Speaker 19: No for real, It's just it's in me, Bro, I
- 1:02:55Speaker 19: come from a music family. My my mom played the
- 1:02:58Speaker 19: clarinet and some woodwind shit or whatever my brother may be.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: So it was like kind of just in me. I
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: was around music all the time. I'm like, man, I'm
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: finna rap. What can I tell?
- 1:03:06Speaker 19: I'm in there?
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, because you definitely you make timeless fucking music. Though.
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: Are you working on anything new right now? Yeah, we're
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: coming off of the metro thing.
- 1:03:15Speaker 19: It's still a futuristic summer right now, so we're shooting
- 1:03:17Speaker 19: all the videos for that. Just continuing to just pour
- 1:03:20Speaker 19: fun back into the community, man, and just doing stuff together,
- 1:03:22Speaker 19: bringing it together. I feel like, honestly being from Atlanta,
- 1:03:25Speaker 19: just being a student of the game, I feel like
- 1:03:27Speaker 19: we've always.
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: Been a place of camaraderie.
- 1:03:29Speaker 19: That's why people want to come and be a part
- 1:03:30Speaker 19: of what we got going on, whether that's art, where
- 1:03:32Speaker 19: that's theater, whether it's music, whatever it is. So for
- 1:03:35Speaker 19: me right now, it's just about continuing to build on now.
- 1:03:37Speaker 19: There's a lot of people who didn't bridge those gaps.
- 1:03:39Speaker 19: So now that I'm in a space coming in at
- 1:03:41Speaker 19: nineteen years old to now being thirty five, like I'm
- 1:03:44Speaker 19: the bridge now you know what I'm saying.
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: So I'm just gonna try to keep putting in what
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: needs to be there, you know what I mean. So
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: now for sure, now I gotta ask, man, we ain't
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: oh neither. Somebody said that in the front.
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: We ain't oh.
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: I ain't accepting that shit. Well, yeah, what what what
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: made you get the mohawk? Dash?
- 1:04:04Speaker 6: Look, tell me about the mohawk journey because he just
- 1:04:07Speaker 6: got it off the strength.
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: He just went to the barbershop said give me the
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: number thirteen. That's what dance got. Damn thirteen. So I
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: want to know. I said, that's crazy. Where did mohawk
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: come from? The start?
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: Set?
- 1:04:23Speaker 19: I always had like hair and shit, And I think
- 1:04:25Speaker 19: I cut my hair when I was like seventeen, I
- 1:04:26Speaker 19: was in high school, and then I started growing.
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: It back, and I think I cut my own first mohawk.
- 1:04:31Speaker 19: And then I was inspired by like Young La and
- 1:04:33Speaker 19: that type of stuff, like just having the designs in there.
- 1:04:35Speaker 19: I fucked with Leland Leland, yeah him, you know what
- 1:04:37Speaker 19: I'm saying. So shout out to Leland for that. But yeah,
- 1:04:41Speaker 19: I cut my own first mohawk. Then I just started going.
- 1:04:42Speaker 19: I was like, man, I can't keep doing this because
- 1:04:44Speaker 19: this ain't really my speed, trying to be in the
- 1:04:45Speaker 19: mirror doing my own ship. And so I went to
- 1:04:47Speaker 19: go fuck with barbershop, bill Over Off Candler and Westley Chapel,
- 1:04:50Speaker 19: and then from there I ran into Bobby's world and
- 1:04:52Speaker 19: it was history from there.
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: Oh okay, cool because I know that.
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: I know people probably was adding you like a motherfucker
- 1:04:58Speaker 3: when he said that ship hundred.
- 1:05:02Speaker 19: Because I was mad. I ain't gonna a lot. I said, nigga,
- 1:05:04Speaker 19: you got me fucked up. He was mad because he
- 1:05:07Speaker 19: couldn't get no. He couldn't do it, you know what
- 1:05:09Speaker 19: I'm saying, Waiting for growth process?
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: That was crazy.
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: WHOA right? You carry you right out? Process. I'm gonna
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: mute with my mic. That's cry. I don't deserve the same.
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: It's a bad weekend for that kind of WHOA shout
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: out to the city respect. Oh bad games he y'all.
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: I want to ask you about No Hands. How did
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: that record come about?
- 1:05:41Speaker 11: Man?
- 1:05:42Speaker 19: I think me and Walker was doing. We was always
- 1:05:44Speaker 19: like around each other. We used to go to Mariachi, Monday's,
- 1:05:46Speaker 19: Blue Shi Up and Guene. We used to like move
- 1:05:48Speaker 19: around and just do ship together. So I think he
- 1:05:51Speaker 19: was coming off the road and I went to passwork
- 1:05:53Speaker 19: literally to go fun. I think it was gonna fuck
- 1:05:55Speaker 19: with Gucci. When he first got out one of them
- 1:05:57Speaker 19: times and Walker was in the b rooms, it was
- 1:06:01Speaker 19: like super flooding in the room.
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: So I'm like, let me go find something else to do.
- 1:06:03Speaker 19: I'm not feeling you know, I mean and drum a
- 1:06:05Speaker 19: boy happened to be in there with Waka and we
- 1:06:06Speaker 19: was actually talking about doing something else, like some other
- 1:06:08Speaker 19: type of music. But I looked at Walker, I said, Bruh,
- 1:06:11Speaker 19: the ladies love you, bro, and I don't know why,
- 1:06:13Speaker 19: but they love you though, So we're gonna make a
- 1:06:14Speaker 19: song for them. Like you know what I'm saying, Like
- 1:06:16Speaker 19: you do a record for them, they gonna love you
- 1:06:18Speaker 19: for the rest of your life.
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: And I was like, I got the hook, Bro, just
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: write the verse. While they happened to walk in.
- 1:06:22Speaker 19: He was like standing off to the side somewhere just
- 1:06:24Speaker 19: jotting on that BlackBerry and shit. And I was like,
- 1:06:27Speaker 19: Reciad came in shout out to Recis too. She helped
- 1:06:29Speaker 19: put that together. She was like, whyle they got something
- 1:06:31Speaker 19: you want to put I said, man, this is why
- 1:06:32Speaker 19: put then on through tell me go on the booth
- 1:06:34Speaker 19: and the rest was history. Bro came out the next
- 1:06:36Speaker 19: day on more about Nothing, I Think or something like that,
- 1:06:39Speaker 19: and it was up from there. Did you know that
- 1:06:41Speaker 19: was a hit when you I knew it immediately. Yeah,
- 1:06:43Speaker 19: I knew it immediately. I don't know if they knew it.
- 1:06:45Speaker 19: I knew that shit though.
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: It's crazy.
- 1:06:47Speaker 3: I know, Joe, before you got here, Joe was like,
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: I know we gonna play that no hen but he
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: didn't even know you was coming. Because one day we
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: went to a club. My fault, Joe, I don't know
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: if you still here. We went to a club. We
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: was the first motherfucker's in the club. Literally, it was us.
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: It was a couple of girls.
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: Listen, and we played this song twenty times in a row.
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: It was just us and we got hype every time.
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: That's fine, like we heard it for the first time.
- 1:07:19Speaker 19: I think music is supposed to do that for you though,
- 1:07:21Speaker 19: you know what I'm saying, Like, even before I knew
- 1:07:22Speaker 19: how to make music, Bro, with songs that made me
- 1:07:24Speaker 19: feel like that no matter what type of day I
- 1:07:26Speaker 19: was having. So I just wanted to have something like
- 1:07:29Speaker 19: back to the assef I wanted some I wanted my
- 1:07:30Speaker 19: own version of that.
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: So, yeah you got that. We got there for show.
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: I don't know if that show family over? I mean yeah, yeah,

- 1:10:08Speaker 2: they said they try to add crazy.
- 1:10:10Speaker 12: I gotta I got a funny story about the movie too,
- 1:10:12Speaker 12: because that was that was me and Gucci's first tape
- 1:10:18Speaker 12: that we did together. And right after we did that tape,
- 1:10:21Speaker 12: he had he had got locked up for one.
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: Of one of them stints.
- 1:10:25Speaker 12: And and and like the tape, the tape had like
- 1:10:31Speaker 12: it didn't really have a buzz at first, you know
- 1:10:33Speaker 12: what I'm saying. When we first dropped it, I don't
- 1:10:35Speaker 12: I don't remember what was going on, but to a
- 1:10:37Speaker 12: point where I couldn't really like feel it, feel it.
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: And then I was going out of town.
- 1:10:42Speaker 12: I was going to places like Pittsburgh, the Nap Town,
- 1:10:46Speaker 12: and I would ask what niggas is listening to? And
- 1:10:48Speaker 12: there's like, Nigga, all we playing is that Glucci the movie.
- 1:10:52Speaker 12: I'm like, Oh, that ship is going and that ship
- 1:10:53Speaker 12: was turning into a classic right under my eyes.
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: So shout to go out, na bro, good times. How
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: did you get into the game? Though? I want to
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: ask how you got into the game? But DJ like,
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: did you start DJing in the clubs? What's your what happened?
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: Hold on? I can what you saying.
- 1:11:18Speaker 6: Ah, Now y'all know that Nigga used to bugs and
- 1:11:20Speaker 6: shit in this house. I know he come from humble
- 1:11:23Speaker 6: beginnings he had. That's trauma. So trying to catch bugs
- 1:11:27Speaker 6: and roaches and rings, that's trauma. Were here with drama today,
- 1:11:31Speaker 6: don't pay.
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: I got nice ship, respect, we got raid, we got
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: raid man.
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: Shut the fuck.
- 1:11:45Speaker 16: No.
- 1:11:46Speaker 12: I want to ask how you got into this like
- 1:11:48Speaker 12: DJ and space, Like who was you know, I'm originally
- 1:11:50Speaker 12: from uh from Philly, YOA. And when I was growing up,
- 1:11:55Speaker 12: I want to go see the movie Juice, and I
- 1:11:59Speaker 12: was pretty much about Omar Epsen's character in the movie.
- 1:12:02Speaker 12: That was like my first time like like seeing a
- 1:12:05Speaker 12: DJ on a big screen, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: And like, you know, I was always in the music.
- 1:12:10Speaker 12: I didn't feel like I could really really rap, even
- 1:12:13Speaker 12: though I talked the best shit ever in life, I
- 1:12:15Speaker 12: just can't make that shit ron But so, you know,
- 1:12:21Speaker 12: so I decided to get into DJM. I convinced my
- 1:12:25Speaker 12: grandmom to buy me a turntable. She bought me a turntable.
- 1:12:28Speaker 12: I got a turntable in a mixer. This is this
- 1:12:30Speaker 12: is old school ship, y'all, before the computer. And you know,
- 1:12:34Speaker 12: I had like a creative Records. When I was in
- 1:12:36Speaker 12: high school, my sister took me to New York. I
- 1:12:39Speaker 12: bought my first mixtape. It was like an old school
- 1:12:41Speaker 12: mixtape and then I was just fascinated by mixtape DJs
- 1:12:45Speaker 12: ever since, Like, you know, the mixtape DJ for me,
- 1:12:48Speaker 12: Like you know, when it comes to DJ and there's
- 1:12:49Speaker 12: there's there's like different forms. There's like club DJs, there's
- 1:12:53Speaker 12: radio DJs, there's show DJs, and you know, and my
- 1:12:57Speaker 12: time when I was coming up, it was mixtape DJs.
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: So to me, mixtape DJ.
- 1:13:00Speaker 12: Always felt like the biggest you know what I'm saying,
- 1:13:04Speaker 12: because they were like their own artists, they had their
- 1:13:05Speaker 12: own product, you know what I'm saying. I would go
- 1:13:07Speaker 12: places I would hear DJ Clue coming out of cars
- 1:13:10Speaker 12: and shit like that, and I was like, that was
- 1:13:12Speaker 12: a dream of goal of mine, Like, you know, I
- 1:13:13Speaker 12: want to I want to hear my ship plan out
- 1:13:15Speaker 12: of somebody car. So I moved to Atlanta. I went
- 1:13:17Speaker 12: to Clark Atlanta University. I met my shot at c AU.
- 1:13:21Speaker 12: Shot at the AUC in the building, I met my
- 1:13:24Speaker 12: business partners, my best friends then Lake Show, Don Cannon
- 1:13:28Speaker 12: and DJ Sence, and you know, we befriended each other.
- 1:13:31Speaker 12: We started the Affiliates and you know, a short story,
- 1:13:35Speaker 12: long hour, long story short. I created Gangster Girls in
- 1:13:38Speaker 12: like two thousand, maybe around that time I had. I
- 1:13:41Speaker 12: was introduced to t I by his manager Jason Jeter.
- 1:13:44Speaker 12: Tip came to my crib. I used to live in
- 1:13:46Speaker 12: the Full Forward and Coach K used to live around
- 1:13:48Speaker 12: the corner from me. And shot the shot to Coach K.
- 1:13:52Speaker 12: And you know, Tip came through for the first time.
- 1:13:54Speaker 12: He was the first person to ever call me I
- 1:13:56Speaker 12: forgetting my number off of the back of a mixtape.
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: He had just got his deal.
- 1:13:59Speaker 12: And Young t I comes through the crib and he
- 1:14:02Speaker 12: spits his freestyle and at the end of it he
- 1:14:04Speaker 12: says like he's the King of the South. And when
- 1:14:06Speaker 12: he left, I told my man DJ Sense, like, Yo,
- 1:14:08Speaker 12: this little niggas crazy. He just said he's the fuck
- 1:14:10Speaker 12: king of the South. Like the fuck is going on.
- 1:14:13Speaker 12: Next thing, you know, me and Tip I got a
- 1:14:16Speaker 12: friend of by Grand Hustle. Coach told me he had
- 1:14:18Speaker 12: this new artist he was working with named Young jez
- 1:14:23Speaker 12: Gz and Coach were the first people to ever pay
- 1:14:25Speaker 12: me for a mixtape. They gave me a thousand dollars
- 1:14:27Speaker 12: to do Streets is watching, nor Rest is history.
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: No, that's hard, bro, Streets is watching.
- 1:14:34Speaker 3: When I first heard you, But the reason I fell
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: in love how you did mixtapes was trapp or Die
- 1:14:40Speaker 3: for sure. And when I first heard Trapper Die, like shit,
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: I was trying to trap her die.
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: Night.
- 1:14:48Speaker 3: Never been a street nigga, but I was trying. I said,
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: if anybody got some weed, I'm ready to sell them.
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: Thank you, thank you?
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: What's up?
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: How you doing?
- 1:15:01Speaker 2: We gotta get these niggas some ice packs out of pocket?
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: Cause what what was y'all listening to?
- 1:15:07Speaker 12: Like what mixedtates were y'all listening to in the locker
- 1:15:09Speaker 12: rooms and the practice and stuff like that.
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: I wanted mixtapes, Bro, we listened to dedication, We listened to,
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: we listened to.
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: I was a trapper.
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: I played Trapper do still to this day, like I'm
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: a JZ.
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: Is that how you heard about Z? Through Trepida? What then?
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: Like that snowfall? Like when that first that intro, I said, Oh,
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: they trying to take me back? Lord, I was so hyped.
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: Everybody know, they know I listened to JIZ all day,
- 1:15:36Speaker 3: so I listened to anything at Like when I came here,
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: I was like adopted, so like Future all them, like
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: everybody Atlanta.
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: It's just what I listened to.
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: You know, we've all been adopted by the city. Anybody.
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: I gotta take it back because I know this is
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: a lot of people favorite here. But the first time
- 1:15:52Speaker 3: I heard that Dedication too, like, I was hit the
- 1:15:54Speaker 3: Dedication one for sure. When I heard Dedication two for
- 1:15:58Speaker 3: the first time, fuck my life up up.
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:16:02Speaker 12: I mean I feel like Trappa Dye and Dedication like
- 1:16:07Speaker 12: really changed my life.
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: You know. Trappad was was a lot of the first
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: for me.
- 1:16:13Speaker 12: Again, that was the first time I like, you know,
- 1:16:16Speaker 12: anybody had ever like really gave me money to do
- 1:16:20Speaker 12: a mixtape.
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:16:21Speaker 12: That's kind of where I feel like I found my
- 1:16:23Speaker 12: personality too. I was talking shit before that on like
- 1:16:29Speaker 12: earlier Gangster Girls, Like before Gangster Girls was how y'all
- 1:16:32Speaker 12: know it today, it was like it was like a
- 1:16:34Speaker 12: compilation of the hot of songs in the streets. So
- 1:16:36Speaker 12: it was kind of similar to every other mixtape. But
- 1:16:38Speaker 12: I had always wanted to make it where it was
- 1:16:41Speaker 12: like its own brand, where like, you know, that was
- 1:16:44Speaker 12: the only place you could get that music. So when
- 1:16:46Speaker 12: I linked up with Tip and with Jeez, you know,
- 1:16:48Speaker 12: they gave me the opportunity to do that. And you
- 1:16:52Speaker 12: know when when Jeep, when we did Trappade, we did
- 1:16:55Speaker 12: a DVD that was the first time that had been done,
- 1:16:57Speaker 12: and so people found out what I looked like like
- 1:17:00Speaker 12: because of my voice is kind of deep. You know
- 1:17:02Speaker 12: a lot of people thought I was like dark skin
- 1:17:04Speaker 12: and like like this big dude, you know what I'm
- 1:17:06Speaker 12: saying and right, so everybody was like it was this
- 1:17:11Speaker 12: white guy saying nigga all over the songs when the
- 1:17:14Speaker 12: DVD came out, and and then you know, with with
- 1:17:19Speaker 12: with Dedication, you know, Wayne was like really coming into
- 1:17:23Speaker 12: his own at that point when we did the first one.
- 1:17:26Speaker 12: He had kind of he was he was doing the
- 1:17:28Speaker 12: Carter albums. But like Dedication and Traviada were tapes that
- 1:17:33Speaker 12: you know, because they were mixtapes and they were in
- 1:17:35Speaker 12: the streets, you know, they they went a lot of
- 1:17:37Speaker 12: different places, so you know a lot of people heard
- 1:17:40Speaker 12: those those guys do those tapes. Like they wasn't playing
- 1:17:44Speaker 12: geez on Hot ninety seven in New York at first,
- 1:17:46Speaker 12: but niggas in New York was listening to the mixtapes.
- 1:17:49Speaker 12: You know what I'm saying, so they heard it, you
- 1:17:50Speaker 12: know they were they were hearing Wayne through dedication. So
- 1:17:53Speaker 12: you know, a lot of with gangster girls like I
- 1:17:56Speaker 12: can look back on through history and say like it was,
- 1:17:58Speaker 12: it was very pivotabal in helping you know, Southern hip
- 1:18:03Speaker 12: hop culture reach the masses and go worldwide the way
- 1:18:05Speaker 12: it did.
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: That's the fact.
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: I want to ask, what's the gangster grills that almost
- 1:18:09Speaker 3: happened but didn't happen?
- 1:18:11Speaker 10: Oh?
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: Man, which one I'll talk about? The rico.
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: Niggas is federal tonight. We're having a good time. Shit
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: got dark. That nigga drink get out? He look that
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: word that let a nigga you know better.
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: I don't remember. I don't remember that rapper. I don't
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: remember the I don't remember that rapper. Damn.
- 1:18:40Speaker 12: What was the question the ones that almost happened? Travis
- 1:18:46Speaker 12: Scott mm hmmm, uh what is it? Days after Rodeo?
- 1:18:52Speaker 12: I was going to be a gangster grills?
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: Damn?
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: Then Kan Kanye told him, don't no, I don't do that. Damn.
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: Yeah, hate it, hate it.
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: I don't think it was. I mean, it was kind
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: of hating.
- 1:19:04Speaker 12: But you know, sometimes people just like you know, for
- 1:19:09Speaker 12: whatever reason they they want to go in a different direction.
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: I ain't mad at them. We did the future. We
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: did the tate. We did.
- 1:19:16Speaker 12: We didn't what it's actually called. The movie that's whereose
- 1:19:19Speaker 12: chosen one came from the future got a classic. No,
- 1:19:24Speaker 12: that's a fan niggas don't know, like it's the best
- 1:19:29Speaker 12: forever ever.
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: To do it right there and shot the shot the future.
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: That shouldn't have told me that.
- 1:19:37Speaker 12: That tape don't get talked about enough. That was a
- 1:19:39Speaker 12: good tape for sure. I was going to ask, y'all,
- 1:19:45Speaker 12: what who should I do a tape with that? I
- 1:19:47Speaker 12: haven't done a tape.
- 1:19:48Speaker 15: With think.
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: That's the one.
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: I ain't mad at that one.
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: You know, Kodad, who's shasty? All right? Bun Bee? All right?
- 1:20:10Speaker 12: I did want me and Bunbe did one me and
- 1:20:13Speaker 12: but we could do another one. But yeah, I did
- 1:20:15Speaker 12: one with fun. That's a lot, a lot of good ones.
- 1:20:21Speaker 3: I'm hearing shouts, y'all. Shot y'all want to ask you
- 1:20:24Speaker 3: always had an offer talent? What's it like back to
- 1:20:27Speaker 3: back years? You going on tour wherez you're bringing out Oozzi?
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: You bring out Jack Carlow being the executive you know
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: what I'm saying, piece of stuff together coming from a
- 1:20:33Speaker 3: dejac perspective.
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: What's that like?
- 1:20:36Speaker 12: You know, it's crazy because I feel like it was
- 1:20:41Speaker 12: you know, it's it's it's a progression, it's an evolution.
- 1:20:46Speaker 12: It's really being like, you know, loving the culture like
- 1:20:51Speaker 12: and wanting to continue to put on for hip hop
- 1:20:54Speaker 12: and leaving a legacy behind, you know, interestingly enough, like
- 1:20:58Speaker 12: we started the label Generation Now in twenty fourteen, and
- 1:21:03Speaker 12: around that time, I started to notice that, you know,
- 1:21:06Speaker 12: the mixtape ground was kind of slowing down, and the
- 1:21:10Speaker 12: mixtape game wasn't the same. Streaming was you know, was
- 1:21:13Speaker 12: was being introduced, and you know, I just was wasn't
- 1:21:17Speaker 12: doing as many tapes. I had just built the studio
- 1:21:19Speaker 12: in Atlanta called Mean Street Studios, and through that studio,
- 1:21:24Speaker 12: you know me and me, Lake Show and Don Cannon.
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: When we started Generation Now.
- 1:21:30Speaker 12: You know, Uzi was was the first artist that we signed,
- 1:21:33Speaker 12: and we had we had kind of missed out on
- 1:21:36Speaker 12: a couple of artists that we were interested in signing
- 1:21:38Speaker 12: and that at the at the time, Uzi came along
- 1:21:44Speaker 12: and you know, Cannon brought Uzzi to the table and
- 1:21:46Speaker 12: we was like, Yo, we don't want to miss any
- 1:21:47Speaker 12: more artists. So I was working at Atlantic, and we
- 1:21:51Speaker 12: took Uzi to Atlantic through a generation now and you know,
- 1:21:54Speaker 12: becoming an executive like being an an R. I got
- 1:21:57Speaker 12: an an R job because I was putting out my
- 1:21:59Speaker 12: own album. I was putting I was making my own records,
- 1:22:02Speaker 12: and people believed in me because of the success I
- 1:22:04Speaker 12: was having. So you know, I went on to becoming
- 1:22:06Speaker 12: the A and R. And I had to find my
- 1:22:08Speaker 12: footing at first, Like when I first got in the building,
- 1:22:11Speaker 12: you know, they were putting me with artists that they
- 1:22:13Speaker 12: had already had signed and that what really wasn't my
- 1:22:16Speaker 12: forte or like how my style of A and RN was,
- 1:22:20Speaker 12: And you know, it was more about discovering new talent,
- 1:22:23Speaker 12: which I had been doing for years already through the mixtapes.
- 1:22:26Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:22:26Speaker 12: So when we brought Uzzi to the table, a lot
- 1:22:29Speaker 12: of people didn't believe in it, like, you know, they
- 1:22:31Speaker 12: didn't see the vision, especially like this kid with purple
- 1:22:33Speaker 12: hair from Philly, from a city where like you know,
- 1:22:36Speaker 12: at the time it had been known for real splinters
- 1:22:39Speaker 12: and always has been like you know, Meek and State
- 1:22:42Speaker 12: prop and Segul and stuff like that. So Uzi was
- 1:22:46Speaker 12: you know, something something like kind of kind of new
- 1:22:50Speaker 12: at the time. You know, I remember having to tell
- 1:22:52Speaker 12: people like people are like, you know, what type of
- 1:22:54Speaker 12: artist is, and I'd be like, you know, he's like,
- 1:22:56Speaker 12: he's like what asap Rocky is to Philly? You know
- 1:22:59Speaker 12: what I'm saying. And that was the only way I
- 1:23:00Speaker 12: could describe him at the time. And you know, a
- 1:23:02Speaker 12: lot of Uzzi's success also came here in Atlanta because
- 1:23:05Speaker 12: we were here in Atlanta. You know, he moved here,
- 1:23:09Speaker 12: he met Thug here, I took him on tour, Whiz
- 1:23:11Speaker 12: and you know, I basically like almost created this like
- 1:23:15Speaker 12: this formula of us breaking artists. So after you know,
- 1:23:18Speaker 12: I worked with Uzzi and we signed Jack, we kind
- 1:23:21Speaker 12: of ran through the same routine. Like he moved here,
- 1:23:24Speaker 12: We introduced him to everybody at the studio. You know,
- 1:23:27Speaker 12: I took him on tour, and you know what he
- 1:23:30Speaker 12: made was popping and the rest is history.
- 1:23:33Speaker 2: That's the fact.
- 1:23:34Speaker 3: What's more fun DJing in the club or making the
- 1:23:36Speaker 3: music that you play in the club?
- 1:23:39Speaker 12: What's more more more fun DJing and the club and
- 1:23:41Speaker 12: making the music? I like both of them, you know,
- 1:23:46Speaker 12: at the club, like being on stages. You know, I
- 1:23:50Speaker 12: guess it would be comparable to say, like you know,
- 1:23:52Speaker 12: being on the court, like it's performing, you know what
- 1:23:54Speaker 12: I'm saying. So you know, I love to be in
- 1:23:57Speaker 12: front of whether it's you know, two hundred twenty twenty thousand,
- 1:24:01Speaker 12: like doing what I do best. But you know, being
- 1:24:04Speaker 12: in the studio is still it's that creative size. So
- 1:24:08Speaker 12: you know, that's where I can kind of go on
- 1:24:10Speaker 12: my zone and you know, work with the music and
- 1:24:13Speaker 12: you know, create the music for people to hear. So
- 1:24:16Speaker 12: they're both very invigorating in a lot of different ways.
- 1:24:19Speaker 12: Like they're going hand in hand.
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: So how was that tour? Man with Jeezy going on
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: this orchestra tour? Oh man, did.
- 1:24:28Speaker 12: Anybody come to that tour? Did anybody get an opportunity? Chantha, y'all?
- 1:24:32Speaker 12: I appreciate you all. Orlando, Yeah, absolutely, you know you
- 1:24:36Speaker 12: was in the building. If you haven't got a chance
- 1:24:39Speaker 12: to see the tour. We were doing a residency in
- 1:24:43Speaker 12: Vegas at the end of the month, end of October.
- 1:24:46Speaker 12: We have two dates then and then two dates in December,
- 1:24:51Speaker 12: a masquerade ball and then a Nutcracker during the holidays.
- 1:24:55Speaker 3: So you know, sorry, drop Autist is but sure gotta
- 1:25:02Speaker 3: watch that the front man, ye'd.
- 1:25:05Speaker 2: Be watching everything.
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: But you know that tour, that tour was, like is
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: that different? Yeah? It was.
- 1:25:12Speaker 12: It was different because, like you know, it's it's twenty
- 1:25:15Speaker 12: years later, it's celebrating thug Motivation.
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: You know, an album that you know, changed changed a lot.
- 1:25:22Speaker 12: It changed Jez's life, It changed my life, It changed everybody.
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: It changed so much.
- 1:25:26Speaker 12: Shit, Like there's not a lot of albums in hip
- 1:25:29Speaker 12: hop like that, like Doug Motivation that twenty years later
- 1:25:33Speaker 12: still bang the way that ship banged. Like you can
- 1:25:36Speaker 12: put that ship on the club right now, twelve thirty
- 1:25:38Speaker 12: one o'clock.
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: Would you say you know what I'm saying, just like
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: like it was two thousand and five.
- 1:25:46Speaker 2: Come on back there, listen, JZ.
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: You do get your mind right.
- 1:25:50Speaker 2: Like what what did you say?
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: Play? Get your Everybody's gonna sing a word from word
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: like it was two thousand and five. Now, what's in
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: the studio making this together? Yeah? It was at a
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: uh passwork made the whole album. That's a legendary studio,
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: by the way, for.
- 1:26:04Speaker 12: Sure, shout the patchwork. You know what's crazy is to watch.
- 1:26:11Speaker 12: What's crazy is to.
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: Shut up Uncle goose brother, uncle Guch, Uncle Gucci, Uncle Gucci.
- 1:26:24Speaker 3: That's my brother. Now they call him uncle what uncle
- 1:26:28Speaker 3: GUTCHI ask why. I ain't gonna ask you why to
- 1:26:32Speaker 3: call him that?
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: Though?
- 1:26:33Speaker 10: Nah?
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: How was that though? In the studio working with Jezy
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: on that.
- 1:26:38Speaker 12: It's always the time. I mean, Jeez works pretty Uh.
- 1:26:43Speaker 12: How would I describe it productively? I guess to say,
- 1:26:48Speaker 12: I mean, he, you know, he he Like this most
- 1:26:52Speaker 12: recent mixtape we just did Still Snowing. He did that
- 1:26:55Speaker 12: ship in like two weeks. Like you know, he'll go
- 1:26:58Speaker 12: in getting his own and and bang it out, you
- 1:27:01Speaker 12: know what I'm saying. So, you know, to think about
- 1:27:04Speaker 12: like trapadn Dog motivation, like oh, pause, what do you say?
- 1:27:14Speaker 2: What I say?
- 1:27:15Speaker 4: What I say.
- 1:27:17Speaker 12: Now, that's not a banging, that's not a pause. Reaching
- 1:27:22Speaker 12: with that one, that's not a pause. I didn't say
- 1:27:25Speaker 12: like no, no, no, no.
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: No no no, I'm not going don't worry about I'm
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: not going for that one.
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: No no no, no, no no no.
- 1:27:33Speaker 12: But you know, like even like back to the toll,
- 1:27:35Speaker 12: like you know, it's a suit and tie affair. You know,
- 1:27:38Speaker 12: it's it's it's people in the building that you know,
- 1:27:41Speaker 12: grew up listening to Jezus at different points in their
- 1:27:44Speaker 12: lives and you know, went from whether it was elementary
- 1:27:47Speaker 12: school or you know, high school, college and hustling or
- 1:27:51Speaker 12: you know, getting you a degree or whatever. You know,
- 1:27:54Speaker 12: now they're doctors, lawyers, you know, nurses, flight attend and
- 1:28:00Speaker 12: it's you know, I'm doing they thing, getting money.
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: So it's like, you know, it reminds you of a
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: time of your life.
- 1:28:06Speaker 12: And it's like, you know, it's no different than if
- 1:28:09Speaker 12: you think about it like a Frank Sinatra or the
- 1:28:12Speaker 12: OJ's or something.
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: It's just fucking trap music. And you know we had
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: a time in life.
- 1:28:17Speaker 12: You know, listening to a twenty years later, We're gonna
- 1:28:19Speaker 12: be listening to it forty years later, and you know,
- 1:28:21Speaker 12: god willing sixty years later.
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying.
- 1:28:23Speaker 12: But you know, to watch the way people react to
- 1:28:28Speaker 12: that music and just the feeling that it gives them,
- 1:28:31Speaker 12: it's like it's specialist. It's not a lot of artists
- 1:28:34Speaker 12: that can do that with an album that what Jeezy
- 1:28:36Speaker 12: is able to do with Doug Motivation.
- 1:28:38Speaker 3: That's a thing I want to ask you this. Everybody
- 1:28:40Speaker 3: talks about the mixtape you made. Obviously, Legendarre but you
- 1:28:42Speaker 3: don't made some fire albums too. Is there a difference
- 1:28:44Speaker 3: between making a mix tape and making an album?
- 1:28:46Speaker 12: Yeah, absolutely, it's definitely a difference, specific specifically for me personally,
- 1:28:51Speaker 12: because you know, I'm more like a conductor than you know,
- 1:28:55Speaker 12: a typical artist. Like so when I'm when I'm doing
- 1:28:59Speaker 12: my mixtape, it's, you know, what people know normally for
- 1:29:02Speaker 12: my mixtapes, it's normally one individual artist, and you know,
- 1:29:05Speaker 12: I approached the album from a different standpoint and like
- 1:29:09Speaker 12: trying to put together collaborations that people may not haven't
- 1:29:12Speaker 12: have seen before, you know, just just make it more.
- 1:29:16Speaker 12: It's about making a cohesive body at work that's with
- 1:29:19Speaker 12: either form of them. But you know, me and my
- 1:29:22Speaker 12: team generation now, like you know, we'll put in more
- 1:29:25Speaker 12: of the work to get those albums done.
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: Definitely a lot.
- 1:29:29Speaker 12: More clearances, paperwork and ship like that that has to
- 1:29:33Speaker 12: get done on my side. So the business is a
- 1:29:35Speaker 12: lot different per se as you know, when I work
- 1:29:38Speaker 12: on a mixtape, I'm I'm normally almost coming in like
- 1:29:40Speaker 12: an artist.
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: So it's like a you know, one off type of
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: thing situation. For sure.
- 1:29:44Speaker 3: I know we got to get out here with MC.
- 1:29:46Speaker 3: I know you got a couple of slaps off that
- 1:29:47Speaker 3: album that people need to hear.
