Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello, Welcome to the Inside the Birds pregame show. I'm
- 0:13Speaker 1: Jeff Mosher with Adam Kaplan, and of course we got
- 0:16Speaker 1: Greg Cosell to help us break down the tape of
- 0:19Speaker 1: this clash of undefeateds. Right now, you've got the three
- 0:23Speaker 1: and oh Philadelphia Eagles versus the three and oh Tampa
- 0:27Speaker 1: Bay Buccaneers in a place that has been a pirate
- 0:30Speaker 1: ship of fools for the Philadelphia Eagles, Raymond James Stadium,
- 0:34Speaker 1: where they have a difficult time winning, and overall they
- 0:37Speaker 1: have lost six of their last seven to the Tampa
- 0:40Speaker 1: Bay Bucks. Now, guys, some would argue that neither of
- 0:43Speaker 1: these teams deserves to be three and oh, but they are,
- 0:47Speaker 1: and they've pulled out some wild ones. The Bucks first team,
- 0:51Speaker 1: I believe, since the merger, to win all three of
- 0:53Speaker 1: their first three games in the last possession in under
- 0:57Speaker 1: the final minute of a game, and of course, Eagles
- 1:00Speaker 1: blocking a field goal against the Rams and returning it
- 1:03Speaker 1: for a touchdown to keep their record unbeaten. So we
- 1:06Speaker 1: got a wild one, Adam, we got a hot one
- 1:09Speaker 1: because our buddy John Clark. Remember how I said on
- 1:11Speaker 1: the podcast that it's not always just the temperature and
- 1:15Speaker 1: the fuels like, but then the field temperature adds extra well.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Our buddy Johnny Clark at NBC Sports Philly reported that
- 1:22Speaker 1: it was supposed to be one oh three field temperature
- 1:26Speaker 1: by kickoff, so I'll.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Do it one better. I've known John probably longer than
- 1:31Speaker 2: any one in the media has. I've known John since
- 1:32Speaker 2: the mid nineties when he owed the Wrestling Flyer newsletter.
- 1:37Speaker 2: The So right now, it's suspected to be ninety degrees
- 1:41Speaker 2: at kickoff, So that's two weeks in a row. Eagles
- 1:42Speaker 2: were playing ninety degree temperature. So it's on today like
- 1:45Speaker 2: they don't know this right, so to feel I'm getting
- 1:49Speaker 2: right to it. The humidity is still only sixty percent,
- 1:52Speaker 2: but it feels like ninety seven now on your point, though,
- 1:55Speaker 2: that's just in Tampa, ninety seven degrees off the grass,
- 1:58Speaker 2: It's going to be much warmer. So it's called me tough.
- 2:00Speaker 2: But there's a difference here. The Eagles will have better
- 2:02Speaker 2: reinforcements term of depth. Quality depth is always a challenge.
- 2:06Speaker 2: But they're gonna have players. It's not that they're gonna
- 2:08Speaker 2: have Anti Brown, They're gonna have Davante Smith and Lane John's.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Yeah, they will and both of these teams are banged up.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Both have some injuries. We'll get into that. We'll get
- 2:17Speaker 1: into the new look for the Bucks a little bit,
- 2:21Speaker 1: not winning games the same way they did last year,
- 2:24Speaker 1: and of course the Eagles are a little bit new
- 2:27Speaker 1: look themselves, as they are finding different ways to win games.
- 2:31Speaker 1: So it's a really interesting battle, right Greig, between two
- 2:34Speaker 1: teams that aren't exactly playing the way they did the
- 2:37Speaker 1: year before, but still finding ways to win games.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Yeah, you know that those are always tough things to
- 2:44Speaker 3: figure out, you know. When people say, and like the Eagles,
- 2:47Speaker 3: you know, with what happened last week, that they find
- 2:49Speaker 3: ways to win. I never quite know how to respond
- 2:52Speaker 3: to that. I mean, obviously, you are what your record is.
- 2:55Speaker 3: They're two good teams, you know. I think that they've
- 2:59Speaker 3: shown that they can win in different ways, and I
- 3:02Speaker 3: think that to me, to me, that's more of the
- 3:05Speaker 3: sign of good teams, teams that show that they can
- 3:09Speaker 3: win in different ways, you know, because if you can
- 3:12Speaker 3: only win one way, and we've seen that through the years.
- 3:15Speaker 3: You can go back thirty forty years, I mean with
- 3:18Speaker 3: a lot of teams that had one thing that was great,
- 3:21Speaker 3: but if that got taken away it seemed as if
- 3:24Speaker 3: their team got shut down. And I think you're dealing
- 3:27Speaker 3: with two teams. Certainly the Eagles for sure. I mean
- 3:29Speaker 3: they're Super Bowl champions. Certainly the Eagles can win multiple ways.
- 3:34Speaker 3: And the Bucks are you know, very quietly, the Bucks
- 3:38Speaker 3: have been a really good team the last couple of years,
- 3:40Speaker 3: just because they haven't necessarily gotten to a championship game
- 3:43Speaker 3: or a Super Bowl. And I guess for people who
- 3:45Speaker 3: look at that as the definition of a good team,
- 3:48Speaker 3: but they're a really solid football team on both sides
- 3:51Speaker 3: of the ball.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Hey, you know that one guy in the group chat
- 3:54Speaker 1: who hit a five leg parlay week one and he
- 3:57Speaker 1: wouldn't shut up about it for the rest of the season.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Sounds like kaplan, right, Yeah, Yeah, it could be him.
- 4:02Speaker 1: It could be you, and we would all want to
- 4:06Speaker 1: be you. My bookie makes it stupid easy to get
- 4:10Speaker 1: in on the action, whether it's college ball, NFL Super
- 4:14Speaker 1: Contest and Survivor pools. All the spreads, player props and
- 4:18Speaker 1: in game lines that.
- 4:19Speaker 3: You could want, all.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Under one roof. What more could you want than that?
- 4:26Speaker 1: If you're new to my Bookie, use our code The
- 4:30Speaker 1: Birds THG B I RDS. The Birds use the code
- 4:36Speaker 1: and any bet you choose up to five hundred dollars
- 4:39Speaker 1: is fully covered. Make your play and if it doesn't hit,
- 4:43Speaker 1: you get it right back when you opt in using
- 4:45Speaker 1: your bet back bonus token. There is no better time
- 4:50Speaker 1: to jump in right now, No better place to play
- 4:53Speaker 1: football is back. Let's make some money with my bookie,
- 4:58Speaker 1: right and we know, we know that their history is
- 5:02Speaker 1: the way they play defense gives the Eagles a lot
- 5:04Speaker 1: of trouble. However, we also know the Eagles have been
- 5:06Speaker 1: missing Aj Brown in a lot of those losses. That
- 5:09Speaker 1: won't be the case yeah on Sunday. But both teams
- 5:12Speaker 1: do have some major injuries. Let's start with the Bucks injuries, Adam,
- 5:19Speaker 1: because Mike Evans is out with a hamstring. Yeah, you
- 5:22Speaker 1: can have a note in our podcast if this has
- 5:23Speaker 1: bothered him nearly every single year of his career at
- 5:26Speaker 1: some point.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Yeah, you could go back to twenty fourteen. He's had
- 5:30Speaker 2: chronic hamstring problems now more often, not that he plays,
- 5:33Speaker 2: but if you watch the video, he grabs his hamstring
- 5:36Speaker 2: and he could see he knew it was not going
- 5:39Speaker 2: to be good. Now, the MRI showed, as I understand it,
- 5:41Speaker 2: a grade one plus hamstring strain. It could be two
- 5:45Speaker 2: to four weeks. It just depends. He knows his body.
- 5:47Speaker 2: He's an older player's going to be Hall of Famer someday.
- 5:50Speaker 2: But this does help the Eagles. I mean we'll get
- 5:52Speaker 2: in the matchup later. There certainly will be interesting.
- 5:54Speaker 3: Greg.
- 5:55Speaker 2: As I sent it to you, I would think, Greg,
- 5:58Speaker 2: don't know for sure, but Abuka would. It makes more
- 6:00Speaker 2: sense to me than Godwin, who they expect to play,
- 6:02Speaker 2: to play that exposition.
- 6:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean they're limited. You know, we don't even
- 6:09Speaker 3: know if god Win's gonna play, right.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Should he took the ones on Friday? He should Barnes,
- 6:14Speaker 2: something happened in the pregame. But Greg, here's the issue.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Playing is one thing. How many snaps could he have?
- 6:19Speaker 2: He isn't played since October twenty second last year. I know,
- 6:22Speaker 2: I would think.
- 6:23Speaker 3: And by the way, there's you can change your offensive
- 6:26Speaker 3: around so that there's not many snaps of a true X.
- 6:29Speaker 3: You know, there's a lot of things you can do
- 6:31Speaker 3: in terms of formations, in terms of motions pre snap movement.
- 6:36Speaker 3: If they do line up in a three by one set,
- 6:39Speaker 3: you know, it could be either guy. I mean, they're
- 6:42Speaker 3: not going to have a defined X receiver, and I
- 6:44Speaker 3: wouldn't be surprised if formationally and movement wise they're not
- 6:48Speaker 3: lining up in a static three by one very often.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll talk about that. I had the same thought
- 6:53Speaker 1: as you, Greg, Strategically, I think they might want to
- 6:56Speaker 1: avoid that, and we'll talk about that when we get
- 6:58Speaker 1: into the match up. As far as other injuries, like
- 7:01Speaker 1: you said, Adam Chris Godwin wide receiver has not played
- 7:04Speaker 1: yet this year, he is expected to play. We'll see
- 7:07Speaker 1: how many snaps he can play, especially with the heat
- 7:10Speaker 1: being what it is and what is conditioning is like.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Also out is the defensive back. I believe he's kind
- 7:16Speaker 1: of a hybrid Christian Isian Greg, He's sort of.
- 7:20Speaker 3: He hasn't played, so they're not. He's not someone that
- 7:23Speaker 3: they've quote unquote missed this season because he hasn't played.
- 7:26Speaker 2: He's been hurt too. He's actually been hurt all season unfortunately.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Yeah, it's weird because he had a full no that
- 7:32Speaker 1: was goblint of full practice anyway. Also questionable. Logan Hall
- 7:37Speaker 1: a good defensive lineman for them. Yeah, May yeah, right
- 7:41Speaker 1: biceps right throwing bit.
- 7:42Speaker 3: By h Dan Do you know anything about that? What's
- 7:45Speaker 3: going on.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Yeah, so basically right, basically they made a decision. He
- 7:48Speaker 2: was barely going to work this week, a lot of
- 7:49Speaker 2: metal reps. Now on Friday he took a little bit
- 7:53Speaker 2: of work. So it's just it's by the way, it's
- 7:56Speaker 2: his throwing arm. It's just right biceps and greg one
- 7:58Speaker 2: of the things I admire about sometimes As to his detriment, Yes,
- 8:03Speaker 2: you love that he hangs in the pocket, hangs, hangs, hangs,
- 8:05Speaker 2: and he will scramble when he needs to. But he's
- 8:08Speaker 2: only injury put a lot, but almost certainly plays. You know,
- 8:10Speaker 2: he always seems to play, but he's been hurt a
- 8:12Speaker 2: lot in his career.
- 8:13Speaker 3: Unfortunate. Well, he's also this year he's been running more
- 8:16Speaker 3: this year as far as scrambles, and you know, he's
- 8:19Speaker 3: he's obviously a tough guy and obviously well respected by teammates.
- 8:23Speaker 3: But he certainly has taken more hits through three games
- 8:26Speaker 3: this year than he probably has in any season. And
- 8:28Speaker 3: he's not a big man. I mean, that's the thing.
- 8:31Speaker 3: So you know, again it's a bicep on his throwing arm.
- 8:35Speaker 3: You know, again, I'm not a doctor, and it's Friday.
- 8:37Speaker 3: You know, we're doing this on a Friday afternoon. So
- 8:40Speaker 3: I don't know what what the status will be, but
- 8:43Speaker 3: they expecting to play.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Okay, oh yeah, but he was limited each day of practice,
- 8:49Speaker 1: So I do think that that shows you that they're
- 8:51Speaker 1: being very careful with him.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Now something happens, it would be that man Teddy Bridgewater.
- 8:57Speaker 3: I know, isn't that crazy? He was couch crazy well
- 9:00Speaker 3: last year?
- 9:00Speaker 1: Yeah, unbelievable, all right. The big news for the for
- 9:04Speaker 1: the Bucks is their offensive line, which has just been
- 9:06Speaker 1: in shambles since the start of the year. Tristan Wurf's
- 9:09Speaker 1: They're all Pro left tackle. He was a full participant
- 9:13Speaker 1: in practice on Friday. He's listed as questionable. Looks like
- 9:17Speaker 1: he's gonna play. The question is how how will his
- 9:20Speaker 1: conditioning be? How well will he be playing? It'll be
- 9:22Speaker 1: his first game of the year. What was it that
- 9:25Speaker 1: he had knee surgery? I believe Adam he had a
- 9:27Speaker 1: knee issue. Unfortunately, he had surgery in the offseason.
- 9:30Speaker 2: It just it didn't fix the problem, and then he's
- 9:34Speaker 2: They kept him out for a couple of months and
- 9:35Speaker 2: he said this week to the media, he said, the
- 9:37Speaker 2: best he's foult. He fails normal. So but yeah, he's back.
- 9:40Speaker 2: At left tackle. But man, Jeff, they have so many changes,
- 9:45Speaker 2: it's it's kind of tough, I guess, and what they'll
- 9:49Speaker 2: do now him coming back into how one thing affects another.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Worst would be it left Barton now Graham Barton, who
- 9:54Speaker 2: was a left tackle Duke, he played center for he
- 9:56Speaker 2: played left tackle for Worse, he's back at center now,
- 9:59Speaker 2: Brett Us said, I'm told his natural position is really guard,
- 10:02Speaker 2: not center. He could play center. This helps Brettison. So this, Jeff,
- 10:05Speaker 2: this does help their offensive line. But the right side,
- 10:08Speaker 2: that's another story.
- 10:09Speaker 1: So it's the best case scenario for the Bucks when
- 10:11Speaker 1: We'rek's plays because center, left guard, left tackle are all
- 10:13Speaker 1: the same. But as we detailed leading up to in
- 10:16Speaker 1: the podcast leading up to this, they are without their
- 10:19Speaker 1: right tackle. I'll say Luke and Adam.
- 10:21Speaker 2: You say his last name, good DECKI some geticky, but
- 10:25Speaker 2: I heard it with Godeki. Maybe we could call Luke,
- 10:28Speaker 2: but he won't be available. He's on he's on injury reserve,
- 10:32Speaker 2: UH with a foot injury. So Charlie heck Andy heck
- 10:35Speaker 2: Son would be back at right tackle.
- 10:38Speaker 3: Greg.
- 10:38Speaker 2: I don't know if you've seen tape of Elijah Klein,
- 10:40Speaker 2: but he started having had Okay, really, that tells you
- 10:44Speaker 2: a lot, Jeff.
- 10:45Speaker 1: They said, what Greg will definitely be watching the tape
- 10:48Speaker 1: of Elijah Clein at right guard for Inside the Tape
- 10:50Speaker 1: next week. So that's right first foray into Elijah Klein.
- 10:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know anything about Elijah Clein.
- 10:57Speaker 1: There you go, Levonte David, the great linebacker. He was
- 11:00Speaker 1: a full participant Thursday. He did not practice Friday, but
- 11:04Speaker 1: he doesn't carry an injury designation, so it sounds like
- 11:07Speaker 1: they're just wrestling on Friday. So he'd be good to
- 11:09Speaker 1: go in this game. And as we the last guy
- 11:13Speaker 1: we have to mention who will not play because he's
- 11:15Speaker 1: on IR just like Luke and Eki is their interior
- 11:19Speaker 1: defensive lineman, good pass rusher, Calijah can't see who always
- 11:23Speaker 1: seems to be injured when the Eagles and the Bucks play,
- 11:25Speaker 1: but he is out for he's on IR.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, he is. And what they'll do is, you know,
- 11:31Speaker 2: it does affect their front. They have the great vite veo.
- 11:35Speaker 2: They're optimistic on Logan Hall. You know, Greg Gaines has
- 11:37Speaker 2: been around a while. And the other thing is, you
- 11:39Speaker 2: know he's he would have been probably I don't know
- 11:42Speaker 2: how much he'd play.
- 11:43Speaker 3: But Jalen McMillan's a guy.
- 11:44Speaker 2: They really liked the third year receiver out of was
- 11:48Speaker 2: it you dub I think, yes, Washington, I really.
- 11:50Speaker 3: Like Jalen McMillan too. I was sorry that he went
- 11:53Speaker 3: on IR.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Yeah, so he would have probably been their third receiver
- 11:56Speaker 2: this week. So the immortal Ryan Miller, an undirected agent
- 12:00Speaker 2: who technically started last week, whose was the first play
- 12:02Speaker 2: of the game. He's number eighty one, so he'll dress
- 12:05Speaker 2: for sure. And then of course they have Jeff as
- 12:07Speaker 2: we said it back to you, Sterling Shepherd, who was
- 12:10Speaker 2: not retired, but all the injuries good for him.
- 12:12Speaker 3: Yeah, you know what he still produces for them.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Oh, he had a few big catches against the Eagles
- 12:17Speaker 1: last year and everybody was surprised. I think McMillan would
- 12:20Speaker 1: have been a natural X if he were able to
- 12:24Speaker 1: healthy and play in absence of Evans.
- 12:26Speaker 3: But well, you know what's interesting and just a very
- 12:28Speaker 3: quick story. So yeah, I did both a Doonsay and McMillan.
- 12:32Speaker 3: They both came from Washington after there next to last
- 12:36Speaker 3: year's in college. You know, I do that a lot
- 12:37Speaker 3: to get ahead. I do, you know, one hundred and
- 12:39Speaker 3: twenty guys who were going to go back to college
- 12:42Speaker 3: and then be in the draft the next year. So
- 12:44Speaker 3: when I watched McMillan and a dunsday after there next
- 12:47Speaker 3: to last seasons, I liked McMillan better on tape. And
- 12:52Speaker 3: and you know, I thought the way people spoke about
- 12:54Speaker 3: a doonsay, So I thought to myself, Okay, maybe I'm
- 12:56Speaker 3: missing something. And then I got an opportunity to speak
- 12:59Speaker 3: to a g this summer and we just got into
- 13:01Speaker 3: this conversation about players. You know, you know when you
- 13:04Speaker 3: talk those conversations you guys have him sometimes you just
- 13:07Speaker 3: go off on tangents. And he said the exact same
- 13:10Speaker 3: thing to me that he liked McMillan better after that
- 13:12Speaker 3: year as well. So you know, again, you know, who
- 13:16Speaker 3: knows what McMillan's career is going to be, But you know,
- 13:19Speaker 3: I think I really liked him as a receiver.
- 13:21Speaker 1: No, he did have eight touchdown catches last year, which
- 13:23Speaker 1: is a really nice rookie year. Yeah, he was a
- 13:25Speaker 1: pretty good player for them. Yeah, and you know it's
- 13:28Speaker 1: unfortunate for hitting for them to have him and Mike
- 13:30Speaker 1: Evans out. Let's get to the Eagles injury situation because
- 13:34Speaker 1: the injury report is misleading. The injury report tells you
- 13:38Speaker 1: everybody's good to go except for Adri Jackson, who he
- 13:41Speaker 1: knew was dealing with the groin injury. He is doubtful
- 13:44Speaker 1: to play if he doesn't play Killey Ringo, Yeah, he
- 13:48Speaker 1: won't play. He Killey Ringo will be the starter. And
- 13:51Speaker 1: it's misleading because it doesn't mention the guys who are
- 13:53Speaker 1: on IR, of which three went on that list throughout
- 13:57Speaker 1: the week, So there will be no Nolan Smith. And
- 13:59Speaker 1: the reason and why Killy Ringo was playing is Cory
- 14:01Speaker 1: and Bennett, also with a peck injury, went on injured
- 14:05Speaker 1: reserve as well. So but the good news is Lane
- 14:10Speaker 1: Johnson will play it right tackle and will Shipley good
- 14:13Speaker 1: to go.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Good. Did you say there were three guys who went
- 14:16Speaker 3: on i R this week?
- 14:18Speaker 1: Yeah? The third was why is it escaping me right now?
- 14:21Speaker 1: Who's the third guy? It was Bennett, it was Nolan
- 14:24Speaker 1: Smith and it was come on, somebody helped me out.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Why am I just blanking all this?
- 14:33Speaker 3: Oh?
- 14:33Speaker 1: Darius Cooper, the wide receiver who.
- 14:35Speaker 3: Had a shoulder injury.
- 14:36Speaker 2: That's a shame because yeah, he's had a he's done
- 14:40Speaker 2: a nice job. And remember now Johnny Wilson on I R,
- 14:42Speaker 2: Garris Cooper on I R. So these are two guys
- 14:45Speaker 2: who could have as backup players. And Wilson in the
- 14:48Speaker 2: run game. Jeff Wilson, what's that.
- 14:52Speaker 3: Gotten a few snaps in the first three games.
- 14:54Speaker 1: Yes, they've been playing him in like Cooper and and
- 14:58Speaker 1: sort of using him blocking a little bit. You know,
- 15:00Speaker 1: he's a strong guy. You mentioned that, Greg, you said
- 15:03Speaker 1: that his body type reminded you a little bit of
- 15:05Speaker 1: AJ Brown and they were certainly not a free to
- 15:08Speaker 1: put him on the field in short yardage situation. So
- 15:10Speaker 1: also good news Tanner McKee, I believe in his first
- 15:14Speaker 1: full practice on Friday of the year and should be
- 15:18Speaker 1: the backup quarterback now number two.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Yeah, he has no game status designation. Yeah so with
- 15:22Speaker 2: the right thumb. So yeah, he took his number off Friday.
- 15:25Speaker 2: So Jackson's not expected to play man with Bennon on IR.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Jackson not expected to play. It's ringo time and we'll
- 15:34Speaker 2: see after that. And then Mac mcwims who we've always liked, guys,
- 15:39Speaker 2: he should be active for this game.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Mac McWilliams, that's right, that's right. He will be active.
- 15:44Speaker 1: He should be and we'll see if he gets any
- 15:46Speaker 1: run as well. And we'll see if Xavier Gibson, the
- 15:50Speaker 1: new acquisition throughout the week, who is a punt returner
- 15:54Speaker 1: slash wide receiver, will get any run after that disaster
- 15:58Speaker 1: that the Eagles had last week with the kickoffs. So
- 16:01Speaker 1: we'll say, all right, so let's get into this matchup.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Let's talk about this Eagles offense, which really came alive
- 16:09Speaker 1: against the Rams in the second half, against this Bucks
- 16:12Speaker 1: defense which Greg has struggled in the past but seems
- 16:15Speaker 1: to And I know they haven't played a bunch of
- 16:17Speaker 1: great offenses this year, but.
- 16:18Speaker 3: Right they have not.
- 16:19Speaker 1: I don't think they've allowed more than twenty one points
- 16:22Speaker 1: in a game so far in their first three games.
- 16:25Speaker 1: What are you noticing about what they're doing defense?
- 16:27Speaker 3: Well, I think the starting point is can the Eagles
- 16:30Speaker 3: run the football, which they've not been able to do
- 16:33Speaker 3: with any kind of sustaining consistency through three games. You know,
- 16:37Speaker 3: in doing research this week, and obviously I watched the tape,
- 16:40Speaker 3: but then certain things strike me. I always start with
- 16:42Speaker 3: the tape. I don't start with statistics, but very often
- 16:45Speaker 3: when I'm watching the tape, guys, I see something and
- 16:47Speaker 3: I think, okay, to the statistics, validate it, you know,
- 16:51Speaker 3: and then I go to the statistics, and one thing
- 16:53Speaker 3: that it struck me all through three games is that
- 16:57Speaker 3: Saquon Barkley has not had a lot of room. Now
- 17:00Speaker 3: some of it is on him, I believe watching the tape,
- 17:04Speaker 3: because don't forget, until last year, Barkley was not necessarily
- 17:08Speaker 3: a truly sustaining runner in this league. And last year
- 17:11Speaker 3: he proved to be and one of the reasons why
- 17:13Speaker 3: I had a phenomenal season. But so I went back
- 17:16Speaker 3: and looked, and there's a stat that is on a
- 17:19Speaker 3: website that we use about yards before first contact. And
- 17:24Speaker 3: last year, Barkley's average led the NFL at more than
- 17:28Speaker 3: four yards before first contact. So that means he was
- 17:31Speaker 3: getting to the second level before first contact and that
- 17:35Speaker 3: makes him really hard to tackle. This year, that number
- 17:39Speaker 3: is around two, which means he's not getting past the
- 17:42Speaker 3: first level before he's contacted. And so what often happens
- 17:47Speaker 3: with Barkley, and this was the case with the Giants
- 17:50Speaker 3: for years. Behind not a great online obviously with the Giants,
- 17:54Speaker 3: and one could argue maybe one of the worst five
- 17:56Speaker 3: in the league for a number of years with the Giants,
- 17:59Speaker 3: is he starts to search and grope and look, and
- 18:03Speaker 3: when he doesn't feel comfortable with the offensive line in
- 18:06Speaker 3: front of him, that's what he starts to do. And
- 18:09Speaker 3: he's not doing that to the degree he did with
- 18:11Speaker 3: the Giants, but I've noticed it a few times, and
- 18:14Speaker 3: you know, so what happens is is that instead of
- 18:17Speaker 3: just hitting it up in there and getting the three
- 18:19Speaker 3: or four that are important because you know, harder in
- 18:23Speaker 3: yards are harder in yards, and they matter. You know.
- 18:26Speaker 3: So with the way the offensive line is playing now,
- 18:30Speaker 3: unless they start playing better, he's got to become much
- 18:33Speaker 3: more of a grinded out get what's there. Try to
- 18:37Speaker 3: keep them on as much schedule as possible, because we
- 18:40Speaker 3: know how difficult the Eagles are to defend when it's
- 18:43Speaker 3: third and six and fourth and two and fourth and three.
- 18:46Speaker 3: So you just have to make sure you get those yards.
- 18:50Speaker 1: You know, Confirmation bias is a heck of a thing.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Because this was an observation I said on the postgame
- 18:56Speaker 1: show with Adam, I said, you never know if are
- 18:58Speaker 1: running back is pressing, But I said, I started to
- 19:01Speaker 1: feel like Saquon was looking around at the whole and
- 19:05Speaker 1: sort of maneuvering, not not crazy side side, but like
- 19:09Speaker 1: you just said, Greg, he looked a little frustrated slash
- 19:13Speaker 1: reluctant at some times to just hit it and go
- 19:15Speaker 1: because it may not have been there, and you can
- 19:19Speaker 1: tell he's waiting for that big, big space to open up.
- 19:22Speaker 3: I remember beginning last season, and it was was in
- 19:26Speaker 3: Week three. Was the Saints game Week three last year?
- 19:29Speaker 4: I think it was, Yeah, when he had that, when
- 19:32Speaker 4: the offense wasn't really doing much and even Barkley wasn't
- 19:34Speaker 4: great in the first couple of games, and all of
- 19:37Speaker 4: a sudden, in the fourth quarter in the game that
- 19:39Speaker 4: was anybody's game and it was low scoring, he hit
- 19:41Speaker 4: that what sixty five yard touchdown?
- 19:44Speaker 3: No one touched him. I mean, you know, it was
- 19:46Speaker 3: just one of those super It was a really well
- 19:49Speaker 3: designed play because they I remember it distinctly. It's funny
- 19:52Speaker 3: how that popped into my head because they also had
- 19:54Speaker 3: a tunnel screen element to it, and that expanded the
- 19:58Speaker 3: second level defenders and he just ran through a hole
- 20:01Speaker 3: at one hundred miles an hour. And from that moment on,
- 20:04Speaker 3: it seemed as if every game there were a couple
- 20:06Speaker 3: of runs like that where it just seemed like you
- 20:09Speaker 3: hit it there was no one there, and I'm not. Look,
- 20:12Speaker 3: I don't know if that'll happen this Sunday. You know,
- 20:14Speaker 3: if it does, that would be great. But you know,
- 20:17Speaker 3: when that doesn't happen, you still have to run. You
- 20:19Speaker 3: still have to you know, run and get what you can.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Does this speak to you think to the Eagles offensive line,
- 20:28Speaker 1: we've talked about Landon Dickerson and Cam Jurgens just don't
- 20:32Speaker 1: look as dominant. And then now you have a new
- 20:33Speaker 1: right guard who's just who's good, but he's not a
- 20:36Speaker 1: massive human. There were times, there were times were just
- 20:39Speaker 1: blocked by being massive.
- 20:40Speaker 3: No question. And I think Stein's done a relatively good job.
- 20:44Speaker 3: I don't think he's been Oh my god, Stein, you're
- 20:46Speaker 3: you're struggling, I think again without charting every play, and
- 20:51Speaker 3: and you know, I'm certainly not their offensive line coach
- 20:54Speaker 3: is Staltlin and the assistant guru right not. But to
- 20:59Speaker 3: my just watching the tape, I feel like Jurgens and
- 21:02Speaker 3: Dickerson have not played quite as well as they did
- 21:05Speaker 3: a year ago. And you know, and we'll see, I mean,
- 21:08Speaker 3: look the bucks, you know, can't see he's a he
- 21:13Speaker 3: was a super explosive guy, not necessarily a dominant run defender.
- 21:17Speaker 3: Paula Logan Hall is a big man and we'll see,
- 21:19Speaker 3: and he's part of that rotation, a meaningful part of
- 21:22Speaker 3: that rotation, and if he can't go that that would
- 21:25Speaker 3: impact their depths significantly. So you know, obviously Viaavea is
- 21:30Speaker 3: is he's just a man and a half. But you
- 21:33Speaker 3: know if but Greg Gaines has played a lot of
- 21:36Speaker 3: football in this league, the question is number of snaps
- 21:39Speaker 3: because you know vitave and Greg gain Is gonna play
- 21:43Speaker 3: every single snap, not likely, So you know that that
- 21:47Speaker 3: becomes the issue. Those guys are really good players. Via
- 21:51Speaker 3: is a star, gains is just a solid, solid pro.
- 21:54Speaker 3: They're both really good run defenders. It just becomes depth
- 21:57Speaker 3: in the number of snaps.
- 22:01Speaker 1: How about the Let's talk about the Bucks defensively and
- 22:04Speaker 1: what they do. Obviously, with the Eagles now struggling a
- 22:08Speaker 1: little bit on the offensive line, the Bucks Craig are
- 22:11Speaker 1: again as they always are under Todd Bowles. They are
- 22:14Speaker 1: right up there in the top five of the league
- 22:16Speaker 1: and blitz percentage up around thirty five percent, and they
- 22:21Speaker 1: are known Todd Bowles is known for just sending guys
- 22:23Speaker 1: from second level, third level wherever. So what are you
- 22:26Speaker 1: seeing over the first three weeks, old guys, That's.
- 22:29Speaker 3: What they do as well as any team in the league,
- 22:32Speaker 3: and they're either second or third in terms of using
- 22:35Speaker 3: defensive backs as blitzers. The Chiefs are great at that. Obviously,
- 22:41Speaker 3: the Bucks are right there with them. They do that
- 22:43Speaker 3: as well as anybody. I think Winfield and now the
- 22:47Speaker 3: rookie from Kansas State, the slack corner, a player I
- 22:50Speaker 3: really liked coming out. He played predominantly on the outside
- 22:53Speaker 3: in college. But he's their slot corner, JKB Parrish, who's
- 22:56Speaker 3: had a really good three games, among the most deployed
- 23:03Speaker 3: defensive back blitzers in the league through three games. We
- 23:06Speaker 3: know about Winfield, he's been doing it for years, but
- 23:08Speaker 3: Paris is now part of that. That's what you really
- 23:11Speaker 3: have to be careful of if you get into these
- 23:14Speaker 3: passing situations, which you will, of course, and you know
- 23:18Speaker 3: those two guys are meaningful parts of their pressure packages,
- 23:21Speaker 3: and you know for offensive linemen, you know their worldview
- 23:25Speaker 3: is not necessarily that expansive, but you have to try
- 23:29Speaker 3: to be more so when you play the Bucks.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Greg, One thing I want to ask you Philadelphia's Tyke Smith.
- 23:36Speaker 2: I think you played some nickel last year. How's he
- 23:37Speaker 2: looking now he's a safety?
- 23:39Speaker 3: Yeah? How does he look to you? He's been solid,
- 23:41Speaker 3: you know, And I thought I didn't think he was
- 23:43Speaker 3: a slot corner coming out of Georgia, And he played
- 23:46Speaker 3: some of that last year. Is even played more of
- 23:49Speaker 3: it when he was healthy. So I think Smith is
- 23:52Speaker 3: best served being a safety, and I think they probably
- 23:54Speaker 3: realize that. And that's why he's a safety, and that's
- 23:57Speaker 3: why Jay Paris is the slot corner. Smith is one
- 24:01Speaker 3: of those guys who does not have, you know, outstanding
- 24:04Speaker 3: athletic miserables. But he's a good player, you know, and
- 24:08Speaker 3: that's you know, we know how important that is.
- 24:11Speaker 2: One more thing I want to ask you real quick,
- 24:13Speaker 2: bejam Marson's over his knee injury. I know he's starting
- 24:15Speaker 2: to play a little bit. How did you how did
- 24:17Speaker 2: you see him coming out of school? How did you
- 24:19Speaker 2: see him at this lef year?
- 24:20Speaker 3: I feel like making a joke like from the movie Airplane.
- 24:23Speaker 3: How did you see him with my eyes? You know? Yea, yeah, yeah,
- 24:25Speaker 3: yeah you do, but you wear glasses right right, right right?
- 24:30Speaker 3: I liked Marrison. Now Marson did he he got hurt
- 24:35Speaker 3: at Notre Dames.
- 24:36Speaker 2: Like, yeah, yeah, he had I think a c l
- 24:38Speaker 2: yeah yeah.
- 24:38Speaker 3: But the thing with Mars, I really liked his tape.
- 24:42Speaker 3: I thought that he was a little he was light,
- 24:45Speaker 3: you know, he wasn't he was not short, but he
- 24:46Speaker 3: was light. I could I could pull up my my evaluation,
- 24:50Speaker 3: you know, of Marrison. But I remember I remember definitely
- 24:54Speaker 3: liking him. So he he came out this year, right,
- 24:57Speaker 3: yeah he had hip. Yeah I was it was hip.
- 24:59Speaker 3: Not it was hip. Yes, right, he's a rookie. So
- 25:02Speaker 3: I'm checking round up because I did him. I thought
- 25:05Speaker 3: his twenty three tape was really really good, Like I
- 25:08Speaker 3: thought it showed a high level corner prospect. I thought
- 25:11Speaker 3: he had length, he had smooth, fluid movement. This was
- 25:14Speaker 3: his twenty twenty three tape. Now I think his twenty
- 25:16Speaker 3: four tape showed much of the same. He was a
- 25:19Speaker 3: very effortless mover. I thought he was really good in
- 25:22Speaker 3: mirror match press man coverage. He was patient, he was poised.
- 25:29Speaker 3: I thought now that I'm looking at my notes again
- 25:31Speaker 3: because you know, again I did this a long time ago,
- 25:33Speaker 3: so I couldn't remember exactly, you know, to me, I
- 25:37Speaker 3: thought he profiled as a guy that could play zone,
- 25:41Speaker 3: he could play man. I thought he could play in
- 25:43Speaker 3: the slot if needed. Obviously, on the Bucks, that's not
- 25:47Speaker 3: the way he'd be deployed. I thought he was a
- 25:50Speaker 3: really good prospect. Actually, now that I'm looking at my notes.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Jeff, I would tell you this. The big issue for
- 25:55Speaker 2: the Bucks is that they had a number of it.
- 25:57Speaker 2: Jamel Dean had all sorts of injury problems last year.
- 25:59Speaker 2: They were really weak at backup corner. Put this kid
- 26:03Speaker 2: who's over six feet and as Greg said, he's a
- 26:05Speaker 2: lady's on her two hundred pounds. But the fact that
- 26:07Speaker 2: the Bucks drafted him in the second round coming off
- 26:09Speaker 2: of a major hip injury tells you that the guy's
- 26:13Speaker 2: really talented. And this is they need to depth.
- 26:15Speaker 3: Now.
- 26:15Speaker 2: What's gonna be interesting, Jeff, is do the Eagles spread
- 26:18Speaker 2: them out?
- 26:19Speaker 3: Do they they're healthy and out receiver. I think they
- 26:21Speaker 3: drafted him just to jump in if I could, because
- 26:24Speaker 3: Dean seems to get hurt every season, right, and they
- 26:27Speaker 3: just paid McCollum so and they don't change sides. Dean
- 26:31Speaker 3: is the right corner and McCollum is the left corner.
- 26:34Speaker 3: The only time they'll switch is if they're playing true
- 26:37Speaker 3: man coverage and maybe one side is closed with only
- 26:42Speaker 3: tight ends and there's twins to the other side, and
- 26:45Speaker 3: they're playing true man coverage. But pretty much ninety five
- 26:49Speaker 3: percent of the snaps, Dean is the right corner and
- 26:52Speaker 3: McCollum is the left corner.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Okay, Greg, to your point, there are seven different bucks
- 26:58Speaker 1: that have at least one sack, and four of them
- 27:02Speaker 1: come for our second level defenders. Jacob Parrish has one,
- 27:05Speaker 1: Antoine Winfield has one, Tike Smith has one, and Levonte David,
- 27:09Speaker 1: who I don't think lines up on the ball right.
- 27:11Speaker 1: His one and a half come from probably Sims or.
- 27:14Speaker 3: Well, yeah, twenty had a half a sack against the
- 27:17Speaker 3: Texans on a specific pressure concept where it was a
- 27:22Speaker 3: double mug front, which means both linebackers are lined up
- 27:25Speaker 3: in the A gaps. So technically on that play he's
- 27:27Speaker 3: on the ball, but no, he does not normally line
- 27:30Speaker 3: up on the ball right right.
- 27:31Speaker 1: So there are a lot of second level guys coming
- 27:34Speaker 1: at you. I would say this is what looks like
- 27:36Speaker 1: a pretty good secondary when healthy, and they have two
- 27:40Speaker 1: two pretty you know they have a good safety in
- 27:42Speaker 1: Antoine Winfield. The Eagles like to. They like to hit
- 27:45Speaker 1: the seams when they can. You saw them do that
- 27:47Speaker 1: last week in the second half. Are the Bucks a
- 27:49Speaker 1: difficult team to get those twenty to thirty yard passes
- 27:53Speaker 1: off against? Like, do they play goone behind those blitzer
- 27:57Speaker 1: or do they.
- 27:57Speaker 3: Usually normally they're not a high percent In fact, I
- 28:01Speaker 3: think they are a pretty low percentage man you know,
- 28:04Speaker 3: cover one defense. They don't. They don't normally play a
- 28:06Speaker 3: lot of man coverage. I mean, that's that's not their deal.
- 28:11Speaker 3: So in fact, they're they're I mean, they're in the
- 28:14Speaker 3: bottom ten in the league and playing man coverage and
- 28:16Speaker 3: that's normally the way they are every single season, So
- 28:20Speaker 3: they're not They're not one of those teams that lines
- 28:22Speaker 3: up and plays man. Now, they play a lot more
- 28:24Speaker 3: zone than they do man. So yeah, they you tend
- 28:28Speaker 3: to play they tend to play zone behind it, Yes.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Right, okay, I mean the Bucks are an interesting team.
- 28:34Speaker 1: I feel like they're one of the few teams that
- 28:35Speaker 1: has been able to get jail and stuck in the
- 28:39Speaker 1: pocket where he has to hold the ball. He doesn't
- 28:42Speaker 1: even find a running lane and he holds onto the
- 28:44Speaker 1: ball and he takes sacks because of it.
- 28:47Speaker 3: Yeah, and that's a tough thing to answer as to
- 28:49Speaker 3: why because you almost have to and I'm being honest,
- 28:52Speaker 3: you almost have to be in Jalen's head. But you're right,
- 28:54Speaker 3: it does not seem they the Bucks have had good
- 28:58Speaker 3: defensive success against the Eagles offense and the last number
- 29:01Speaker 3: of years, you know, and I mean there are a
- 29:05Speaker 3: difficult defense to play against because they do bring pressure
- 29:08Speaker 3: from multiple spots and you know, one of the things
- 29:12Speaker 3: they're good pressure teams, and Bulls is really good at this.
- 29:16Speaker 3: You know, show pressure from one side, know how, you
- 29:19Speaker 3: then have to protect because you have to account for
- 29:22Speaker 3: the look, you know, and then they bring pressure from
- 29:25Speaker 3: the other side, which would then becomes the weakness of
- 29:27Speaker 3: the protection. So that's Todd Bowles is a master at that.
- 29:32Speaker 3: How many times at him?
- 29:33Speaker 1: Do you think he's been sacked in four games against
- 29:34Speaker 1: the Bucks Hurts?
- 29:36Speaker 3: Yeah, four games? Yeah, I'd say seventeen or eighteen. I'm
- 29:40Speaker 3: gonna say twenty.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Oh, that's not really high. Now it's actually eleven, which
- 29:44Speaker 1: is really high because that's i mean, only four games.
- 29:47Speaker 3: But it seems like he's been under pressure a lot. Yeah, yeah,
- 29:49Speaker 3: you're talking three times, but no, that was it.
- 29:51Speaker 2: I was gonna say the pressure Rate's funny, Greg said,
- 29:53Speaker 2: because I was gonna say the pressu rate must be high.
- 29:55Speaker 2: But again Aj Brown back in here, Devanti Smith back
- 29:58Speaker 2: in here. That changes it. And I'm really interested to
- 30:01Speaker 2: see what their approach is with Goddard back. It gets
- 30:05Speaker 2: Kakatara off the field more, which is probably a good thing.
- 30:08Speaker 2: They did add km Latu off the practice where they
- 30:11Speaker 2: actually sign them off. There this cam Lattus now play
- 30:14Speaker 2: more in twelve personnel. That that's something we could see
- 30:17Speaker 2: on Sunday.
- 30:18Speaker 1: Absolutely, And do I know this will be a litmus
- 30:22Speaker 1: test game to see if the Eagles feel like getting
- 30:25Speaker 1: those bodies off Saquon and opening up the offense for
- 30:28Speaker 1: him means that they come out passing the ball, trying
- 30:32Speaker 1: to get some early completions against the Blitz and then
- 30:35Speaker 1: go no huddle to slow the Bucks down if they can,
- 30:38Speaker 1: and just get themselves a rhythm. Because well, I'll tell.
- 30:41Speaker 3: You what, at some point you just have to believe.
- 30:44Speaker 3: And again maybe the second half last week was the
- 30:46Speaker 3: impetus for some point, you know, I particularly with the
- 30:50Speaker 3: weather being what it's supposed to be. At some point
- 30:53Speaker 3: you think, do you come out you try to hit
- 30:55Speaker 3: aj outside the numbers, you go, no huddle, you get
- 30:58Speaker 3: that Bucks defense. You know. You know people can say
- 31:01Speaker 3: things like, well they're used to it. Well, when it's
- 31:03Speaker 3: ninety five or one hundred and five, whatever it's supposed
- 31:06Speaker 3: to be on the field, you know, not a lot
- 31:09Speaker 3: of people are used to it, just like I love
- 31:10Speaker 3: when people, you know, when people say, well it's twenty
- 31:12Speaker 3: five below, they're used to it. Well, you know, we're
- 31:15Speaker 3: really used to that.
- 31:17Speaker 1: You know, stoppers never get cold, they're just used.
- 31:20Speaker 3: Right right right, you know, so who knows, maybe this
- 31:23Speaker 3: is the week they try to do you know, what
- 31:25Speaker 3: we saw them do much more of a season ago.
- 31:28Speaker 3: You know, maybe after what they did in the second
- 31:30Speaker 3: half when there's a lot of talk about being aggressive
- 31:32Speaker 3: and you know, maybe they feel that they sort of
- 31:35Speaker 3: opened up the jar now and let's let's kind of
- 31:38Speaker 3: do that, you know, let's see how it goes.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Greg, those numbers, I don't know if you have them, Handy,
- 31:43Speaker 2: but you you had those numbers for us with maybe
- 31:45Speaker 2: the Patreon group on Tuesday, hurts was incredible, no huddle,
- 31:48Speaker 2: like going tempo.
- 31:50Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, the numbers were phenomenal. Yeah, I don't have
- 31:52Speaker 3: them right, in front of me now, but I can easily,
- 31:54Speaker 3: you know, I can get them if you want them.
- 31:55Speaker 3: But no, that's fine. But I just they did go ahead.
- 31:59Speaker 3: Last year was a meaningful part of their offense. You know,
- 32:02Speaker 3: they would go no huddle, and of course you do
- 32:03Speaker 3: it selectively. No one's going no huddle eighty percent of
- 32:06Speaker 3: the snaps, but you do it selectively. Last year, I
- 32:09Speaker 3: remember doing a piece in the Matchup show where they
- 32:11Speaker 3: went no huddle four or five plays in a row
- 32:13Speaker 3: that ended with a god or touchdown. I forget who
- 32:15Speaker 3: that was against, and you know, it just it just works,
- 32:20Speaker 3: you know, and particularly like I said, if Logan Hall,
- 32:23Speaker 3: let's say, can't go, just throwing that out, we don't know, right,
- 32:26Speaker 3: I mean he nearly not if he can't go, and
- 32:29Speaker 3: they're really down on depth on the defensive tackle position, Okay,
- 32:33Speaker 3: you know, I think that would be a good way
- 32:36Speaker 3: to go to just you know, make them have to
- 32:38Speaker 3: stay with you know, gains in Vidavey. As good as
- 32:41Speaker 3: vidave is, you know, he's not a sixty five snap
- 32:43Speaker 3: a game guy, right right.
- 32:45Speaker 1: I think it was the Steelers game you're referring to,
- 32:47Speaker 1: and then they went out in no huddle a couple
- 32:49Speaker 1: of games times in a row. And then they threw
- 32:51Speaker 1: They got a nice little zone read with an RPO
- 32:53Speaker 1: tag touchdown to Dallas Goddard where he started off in line,
- 32:56Speaker 1: then went around and was wide open.
- 32:58Speaker 3: It was on the left side of the field.
- 32:59Speaker 1: Ye, yeah, start on the right, came over, faked handoff,
- 33:03Speaker 1: he was there, and then Hurts just bottom with it
- 33:05Speaker 1: and then he was.
- 33:05Speaker 3: Like, I mean it was a three yard throw, but
- 33:07Speaker 3: I mean he then yeah, yeah, right, maybe it was
- 33:10Speaker 3: this Steelers game. I think it might be right because
- 33:12Speaker 3: I think it was micka Fitzpatrick who I could see
- 33:14Speaker 3: in my mind's eye right now.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely. All right, So we'll see if this Eagles
- 33:18Speaker 1: offense and make some adjustments comes out, does anything different
- 33:21Speaker 1: against the Bucks defense that has played pretty good for
- 33:24Speaker 1: the first three games.
- 33:25Speaker 3: Of the bottom line point before we move on. It's
- 33:27Speaker 3: just they are a tough defense to play against. Now,
- 33:29Speaker 3: that doesn't mean they don't give up plays or you
- 33:31Speaker 3: can't you know, move the ball, but they can they
- 33:34Speaker 3: can confuse you and make it difficult for you at times.
- 33:37Speaker 1: No, yeah, yeah, I mean they come at you. Every
- 33:39Speaker 1: you have to count for somebody. I mean, you always
- 33:42Speaker 1: have to, but like if you're facing a four to
- 33:44Speaker 1: three kind of static type defense, every you know, snap,
- 33:49Speaker 1: your center is looking around and they're trying to call
- 33:51Speaker 1: out the protection.
- 33:51Speaker 3: That's why you're showing so many more teams, Just to
- 33:54Speaker 3: make a general point in the league, because I watch
- 33:56Speaker 3: you know, as much tape as I can. Every week,
- 33:58Speaker 3: you're seeing so many more teams line up with either
- 34:00Speaker 3: five man fronts, six man fronts, seven man fronts. Now,
- 34:05Speaker 3: we know that that doesn't mean everybody comes. We know that,
- 34:08Speaker 3: But as an offense, you can't guess and say, well,
- 34:10Speaker 3: I don't think he's gonna come. You can't do that.
- 34:13Speaker 3: You've got to account for people. Right.
- 34:16Speaker 1: I did a story greg for Philly Voice this week
- 34:18Speaker 1: just talking about how blitzing already seems to be up
- 34:21Speaker 1: in the league. League wide, there are a league six
- 34:24Speaker 1: or seven teams blitzing at a thirty five percent rate
- 34:27Speaker 1: or higher, and last year at the end of the
- 34:28Speaker 1: year there were only three. Right, It's not just the
- 34:31Speaker 1: same three guys anymore, like Flores and Bowls, Right, Right, man, Shosa,
- 34:35Speaker 1: if you're getting something, Spags is in there, and other
- 34:37Speaker 1: teams are starting to do it as well, and even
- 34:40Speaker 1: VIC vic is up from nineteen percent at the end
- 34:43Speaker 1: of last year to I believe his number twenty eight percent,
- 34:46Speaker 1: which is a pretty big yeah, big no.
- 34:49Speaker 3: I mean, look, people realize you got to impact the
- 34:53Speaker 3: quarterback if you can, you know, I think it's all cyclical,
- 34:57Speaker 3: you know, even with the quick stuff, and you still
- 35:01Speaker 3: have to impact the quarterbacks somehow. You know. You can't
- 35:05Speaker 3: just let quarterbacks be comfortable.
- 35:06Speaker 1: Like all right, let's get into this Eagles defense against
- 35:10Speaker 1: the Tampa Bay offense. First pause, real quick. The hero

- 37:44Speaker 1: Check out the link below or in the show notes
- 37:46Speaker 1: and support the show. All right, Greg, Last year Baker
- 37:51Speaker 1: Mayfield really you know, in that second year with an
- 37:54Speaker 1: offensive coordinator. It wasn't Canalys, it was Liam Cohen. But
- 37:57Speaker 1: that second year in that kind of system, he really
- 37:59Speaker 1: took off. I have to believe you through forty or
- 38:01Speaker 1: more touchdowns last.
- 38:02Speaker 3: Year, we want yeah, forty one.
- 38:04Speaker 1: This year they're not lighting up the scoreboard and what
- 38:08Speaker 1: do you see on tape just in general for what
- 38:10Speaker 1: they're trying to do and what's been difficult for them.
- 38:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, the only thing i'd say about not
- 38:16Speaker 3: lighting up the scoreboard is it's been three games, so
- 38:18Speaker 3: you know, I don't know if you know that's a
- 38:20Speaker 3: true barometer. You know, obviously you know McMillan being out
- 38:25Speaker 3: I think is a factor. O line, O line. You know, Look,
- 38:30Speaker 3: Baker's had to run more than everyone. He's not a runner.
- 38:33Speaker 3: In other words, when I say he's not a runner,
- 38:35Speaker 3: I mean he's not a guy that breaks down in
- 38:37Speaker 3: the pocket prematurely. So if he's breaking down in the pocket,
- 38:42Speaker 3: it's because there's legit pressure because he's a pocket player.
- 38:46Speaker 3: As Adam mentioned earlier in our conversation, he's going to
- 38:49Speaker 3: stand there and throw the foot things right, So he's
- 38:52Speaker 3: not a guy looking to get out of there. So
- 38:55Speaker 3: if he's running as much as he is, it's because
- 38:57Speaker 3: the offensive line and the pass protection is in what
- 39:00Speaker 3: it ultimately needs to be. So I think that's been
- 39:03Speaker 3: a little bit of an issue for them. You know,
- 39:05Speaker 3: I still think they have a run game that you've
- 39:08Speaker 3: got to be concerned about. It's really a two headed monster.
- 39:11Speaker 3: You know, Irving is a really good back and Rashad
- 39:14Speaker 3: White is not a special back, but he's just one
- 39:17Speaker 3: of those really solid NFL backs that's a tough runner.
- 39:20Speaker 3: Was it against Houston? If I'm trying to remember the
- 39:23Speaker 3: tape I watched because I wit Was it against Houston
- 39:25Speaker 3: a few weeks ago where he was real? Was that
- 39:27Speaker 3: the Monday night game? Yes?
- 39:29Speaker 1: Yeah, it was not the Jets game.
- 39:30Speaker 3: It was, yeah, because I watched the tape obviously, but
- 39:33Speaker 3: I couldn't remember which game it was. And he was
- 39:36Speaker 3: really physical, running hard, you know, and and they gave
- 39:39Speaker 3: him the ball more in that game because of it,
- 39:41Speaker 3: because he was running so hard and getting those hard yards.
- 39:44Speaker 3: I think in that game he ended up with sixteen
- 39:46Speaker 3: or seventeen carries, which is not normally the case. So
- 39:50Speaker 3: they've kind of got, you know, a nice compliment because
- 39:52Speaker 3: Irving's a little more explosive and White is just a tough,
- 39:56Speaker 3: physical runner who, by the way, is a very good
- 39:58Speaker 3: receiver as well. And now we're talking Bucks offense. If
- 40:01Speaker 3: if they're down receivers, you know, if we know Evans
- 40:04Speaker 3: is out, if it turns out Godwin can only play
- 40:06Speaker 3: twenty snaps and We don't know the answer to that
- 40:09Speaker 3: right now. But you know, White is a guy that
- 40:11Speaker 3: you can line up all over the formation. He's not
- 40:14Speaker 3: just an offset back, so you know.
- 40:16Speaker 2: That's a possibility in this game, Jeff, and Bucky Irving
- 40:19Speaker 2: outside formation is really explosive.
- 40:21Speaker 3: Yeah, he's another guy.
- 40:22Speaker 2: He's another guy, Like they have other ways to do
- 40:25Speaker 2: itsad White, just Bucky Everving is so much more explosive.
- 40:28Speaker 2: Well yeah, Vershade. White is such a tough inside runner. Yep,
- 40:33Speaker 2: I like the one too combo. You know, it's funny
- 40:34Speaker 2: when he was drafted, the knock in personnel circles was Okay,
- 40:37Speaker 2: what is Bucky Irving at the next level?
- 40:39Speaker 3: Is he a two, a three or one? Well, because
- 40:42Speaker 3: he was one hundred ninety two pounds coming out of right.
- 40:45Speaker 2: Small, so you didn't really know. But man, he's he's
- 40:48Speaker 2: a really good football player. It sets up an interesting Jeff,
- 40:52Speaker 2: with their offensive line. As we sent it back to you,
- 40:54Speaker 2: we kind of know what the left side will look like.
- 40:57Speaker 2: It looks like they're going to be okay, but the
- 40:59Speaker 2: right side and we know Vic's pressure rate. You had
- 41:02Speaker 2: that number which we talked about on the Thursday show.
- 41:04Speaker 2: Vix pressure rate is up the season. Yep, does he
- 41:08Speaker 2: overload to one side? What does he do to expose
- 41:10Speaker 2: that right side?
- 41:11Speaker 1: Well, we knew. We saw in week two that when
- 41:13Speaker 1: Vic did not fear the Kansas City Chiefs Receivers, the
- 41:17Speaker 1: same team he didn't blitz, you know in the Super Bowl,
- 41:19Speaker 1: he decided to come after correct, Patrick Mahomes have to
- 41:22Speaker 1: run and have to find guys, It wouldn't surprise me
- 41:25Speaker 1: at all if Vic sent a few pressers you know,
- 41:27Speaker 1: was higher than his normal average press wise.
- 41:30Speaker 3: The other thing that's been interesting to me is I
- 41:33Speaker 3: would have expected them to play a little more out
- 41:35Speaker 3: of twelve personnel than they have through three games. They've
- 41:39Speaker 3: been a high. They're about seventy three percent eleven personnel
- 41:42Speaker 3: through three games. Now it's three games, so I don't
- 41:44Speaker 3: want to say this is who they are, but you know,
- 41:47Speaker 3: Katedden is a solid tight end. They got really good
- 41:50Speaker 3: snaps a year ago, meaningful snaps from Payne Durham, you know,
- 41:55Speaker 3: and they're just not playing it as much as I
- 41:57Speaker 3: would have expected. Now again, you guys know me. I'm
- 42:00Speaker 3: not knocking the coaching staff. I'm just saying I would
- 42:01Speaker 3: have expected to see a little more twelve personnel, you know,
- 42:04Speaker 3: particularly based on the wide receiver situation, so.
- 42:08Speaker 1: Maybe we will and are they are on their third
- 42:10Speaker 1: different offensive coordinator now in three years?
- 42:12Speaker 2: Is it?
- 42:13Speaker 1: Jonathan is a bizarre bish?
- 42:16Speaker 3: Right? Where did he come from? Adam? Do you know?
- 42:18Speaker 3: I don't know?
- 42:18Speaker 1: But coordinator for the was it the Dolphins? I think
- 42:22Speaker 1: he is a Mike McDaniel guy.
- 42:24Speaker 3: If I'm not, he's not called this is his first
- 42:25Speaker 3: your call plays.
- 42:26Speaker 2: He was actually working for an agent about ten years
- 42:28Speaker 2: ago or so.
- 42:30Speaker 3: The one thing I would say with this is that's
- 42:31Speaker 3: why I think the first three games tough to say.
- 42:36Speaker 3: It's a barometer of who they are, you know, just
- 42:39Speaker 3: like with the Eagles, Kevin Pittula is calling place for
- 42:41Speaker 3: the first time, you know, I think and I've learned this,
- 42:44Speaker 3: you know, being around and talking to coaches. You know
- 42:46Speaker 3: they're adjusting as well. Everything's an adjustment, you know. One
- 42:50Speaker 3: thing people never think about is when you have a
- 42:53Speaker 3: different guy in your ear and his cadence of his voice,
- 42:56Speaker 3: the way he calls plays. You know, that's just different
- 42:59Speaker 3: than what you're used to, and that takes time. So
- 43:02Speaker 3: there's a lot of different things that go into play here,
- 43:05Speaker 3: and uh, you know, and and then also what's the
- 43:08Speaker 3: balance between a veteran like Baker Mayfield, who I'm sure
- 43:11Speaker 3: has input in the game plan because he liked certain things,
- 43:15Speaker 3: he's good at certain things. So how does that relationship
- 43:18Speaker 3: develop over time? You know, you can talk about that
- 43:20Speaker 3: all day in training camp and in the off season,
- 43:23Speaker 3: but until you're in the heat of the battle and
- 43:25Speaker 3: in the game, you know, then then everything's a little different.
- 43:28Speaker 1: So Grizard was the past game coordinator last year for
- 43:31Speaker 1: the Bucks, so he at least has sort of like
- 43:32Speaker 1: patrola of that in house.
- 43:34Speaker 3: But his first year, yes, a lot of will be
- 43:37Speaker 3: the same. I'll give you an example. Did they play
- 43:39Speaker 3: Atlanta Week one?
- 43:41Speaker 1: Yeslanta Week one?
- 43:42Speaker 3: Yes, the second touchdown to Buca second one. Okay, that
- 43:46Speaker 3: won the game? Yes, okay, that was really good. And
- 43:52Speaker 3: I normally don't talk about play calling, but just when
- 43:54Speaker 3: you watch a game and you see what a team does.
- 43:56Speaker 3: That was really good play calling because they had run
- 43:58Speaker 3: that concept earlier in the game and they saw how
- 44:03Speaker 3: the Falcons reacted to it. Because Jesse Bates is an
- 44:05Speaker 3: aggressive keyar. So what they did is they ran the
- 44:09Speaker 3: concept was a Buka on a post and Evans on
- 44:12Speaker 3: a dig from the same side, and they knew because
- 44:15Speaker 3: of Jesse Bates that in a critical situation that Bates
- 44:18Speaker 3: would jump Evans. So they sent a book over the top, right,
- 44:22Speaker 3: you know, and a Buka got it, you know, inside
- 44:24Speaker 3: of the corner. And I don't remember who was Carell
- 44:27Speaker 3: or not, but you got inside of the corner and
- 44:30Speaker 3: they scored the winning touchdown. You know, those kinds of things.
- 44:33Speaker 3: You know, I notice on film. You know, I'm not
- 44:35Speaker 3: going to sit here and say I'm not a play
- 44:37Speaker 3: call guy. You know, people ask me that I don't
- 44:39Speaker 3: get into that because you have to be there. But
- 44:41Speaker 3: I mean, you notice how when the team sees certain
- 44:43Speaker 3: things and then they build and you know so but
- 44:47Speaker 3: that stuff takes time.
- 44:50Speaker 2: To give you an idea of how fast he's moved up.
- 44:52Speaker 2: This is crazy. Two years ago, who's offered the quality
- 44:54Speaker 2: control code for the Dolphins. Okay, last year it's Greg
- 44:58Speaker 2: said he's a PGC passing game coordinator. Now he's calling place.
- 45:01Speaker 2: He's only thirty five. He played at Yale. By the way,
- 45:04Speaker 2: played at Yale.
- 45:05Speaker 1: He must be really stupid.
- 45:07Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly right, exactly exactly out of New Haven, right,
- 45:11Speaker 2: But no, it's a it's an amazing story man. And
- 45:13Speaker 2: but yeah, it's only three games. They're off the pretty
- 45:15Speaker 2: good start considering all the issues they've had.
- 45:17Speaker 3: Look, when you're it's like the Eagles when you're when
- 45:20Speaker 3: things are new, all you want to do early is
- 45:23Speaker 3: win the games. There's always more to coach and there's
- 45:26Speaker 3: more to get done. And you know, it feels like
- 45:29Speaker 3: I've been saying this all this week to different people.
- 45:32Speaker 3: You know, no coach, no matter how well you play,
- 45:36Speaker 3: you know, then talks to the team on money and says, guys,
- 45:38Speaker 3: you guys were perfect. We have nothing to do this week.
- 45:40Speaker 3: You know, you could win forty to ten and that's
- 45:43Speaker 3: never going to happen, right, you know, So all you
- 45:45Speaker 3: want to do is win the games. And then you
- 45:48Speaker 3: keep coaching and you keep working and you keep trying
- 45:51Speaker 3: to get better and you keep correcting, and you know
- 45:53Speaker 3: that's the way. That's the way it works.
- 45:56Speaker 1: Yep, yep. So one thing that will be interesting to see, uh,
- 46:00Speaker 1: with this pass rush for the Eagles that has lost
- 46:02Speaker 1: Nolan Smith, is how do they divvy up these reps,
- 46:05Speaker 1: especially with the heat. Yeah, the VIC usually likes to,
- 46:08Speaker 1: you know, run two guys out there and then just
- 46:10Speaker 1: sub occasionally. Does he do that the same? Is Azizo
- 46:14Speaker 1: Jalari active for the first time in the year. Does
- 46:17Speaker 1: the Darius Smith play as many snaps as Jelex Hunt?
- 46:21Speaker 1: And who would be the josh Ucha and you sort
- 46:24Speaker 1: of do it like a thirty three thirty three thirty
- 46:26Speaker 1: three percent snapchare because Zadarius Smith has played pretty well
- 46:31Speaker 1: so far in his in his two outings. Uh, you
- 46:33Speaker 1: know with the Eagles, So I would think that they
- 46:35Speaker 1: would want.
- 46:35Speaker 3: To question maybe you guys know the answer. Yeah, was
- 46:38Speaker 3: this a lingering thing with Nolan Smith? Well, it's the
- 46:41Speaker 3: same try a surgery. The reason I'm asking is, yeah,
- 46:44Speaker 3: did they signed Zadarius Smith because they knew this might
- 46:46Speaker 3: be coming?
- 46:47Speaker 1: Well? He was, he did, They were he had a
- 46:49Speaker 1: shoulder injury, Nolan Smith or injury. It was bothering him.
- 46:53Speaker 1: In fact, Vic came out and said by the end
- 46:56Speaker 1: of camp he was playing Nolan Smith only on the
- 47:00Speaker 1: right side of the line, so that keeping his out
- 47:02Speaker 1: his right shoulders outside shoulder wouldn't draw as much contact.
- 47:06Speaker 1: He wasn't switching sides.
- 47:07Speaker 3: Interesting, so they probably knew something like this could happen.
- 47:10Speaker 1: I suppose. So it's fascinating that it happened to Brandon Graham, right,
- 47:14Speaker 1: he retre he tours by step, he came back for
- 47:17Speaker 1: the Super Bowl, tore it in the Super Bowl, and
- 47:19Speaker 1: now Nolan Smith tore it in the Super Bowl, had
- 47:20Speaker 1: the surgery, came back and now he is aggravated. It's
- 47:23Speaker 1: not torn, I don't think, but it's aggravated.
- 47:26Speaker 2: Yes, he strained it and it's Remember when he says shoulder,
- 47:29Speaker 2: I'm sure he's talking about the trices because it's your
- 47:31Speaker 2: upper arm near your shoulder, right, so that yeah, it's
- 47:35Speaker 2: his left so yeah, it now. But but although I
- 47:39Speaker 2: do believe, guys, I'm pretty certain of it. These signs
- 47:42Speaker 2: are at Aria Smith because their pest rush. That's why
- 47:44Speaker 2: Vick is blitzegmore because it they had seven guys. But Jeff,
- 47:48Speaker 2: as you know, it's just it hasn't been there.
- 47:50Speaker 3: So Vick's doing.
- 47:51Speaker 2: Greg, as you've told us, when you can't go home
- 47:53Speaker 2: with four you have five.
- 47:54Speaker 3: You got to do something else. I learned that from
- 47:57Speaker 3: Rod Rust from years years ago.
- 47:59Speaker 2: Oh my god, tell Greg, tell people who that is.
- 48:02Speaker 3: Rod Rust actually started coaching in the late nineteen sixties.
- 48:07Speaker 3: He was the head coach at North Texas State. He
- 48:09Speaker 3: coached mean Joe Green at North Texas State, and then
- 48:13Speaker 3: he worked his way into the NFL and became a
- 48:15Speaker 3: defensive coordinator for a number of teams. He's the one
- 48:19Speaker 3: who's considered to be the pioneer of quarters coverage, and
- 48:24Speaker 3: he was a head coach for one year in New England.
- 48:26Speaker 3: Didn't work out, but years and years ago. He's passed
- 48:30Speaker 3: away quite a while now, but years I'm going back,
- 48:32Speaker 3: maybe twenty years. When he retired, he called me up
- 48:36Speaker 3: because he was living in Atlantic City. I didn't know
- 48:38Speaker 3: the man. He called me up and he told me
- 48:42Speaker 3: who he was, and of course I knew the name.
- 48:43Speaker 3: You know, this is what I do, you know? And
- 48:45Speaker 3: he said, would it be okay, you know if I
- 48:48Speaker 3: came in every Monday and watch tape well with you?
- 48:51Speaker 3: And I said, of course, coach, you can come in
- 48:53Speaker 3: every Monday. Came in for about four or five years
- 48:56Speaker 3: every Monday and we sat and watched tape. And of
- 48:59Speaker 3: course I didn't get as much it's done as I
- 49:00Speaker 3: wanted to because there were a million questions and great
- 49:03Speaker 3: conversations and I learned so much from him, and he coached.
- 49:08Speaker 3: He was the decoordinator for one year in Pittsburgh when
- 49:12Speaker 3: Rod Woodson was a Steeler and just one year of
- 49:14Speaker 3: rod Woodson's career. But rod Woodson made it a point
- 49:17Speaker 3: in his Hall of Fame speech to specifically point out
- 49:21Speaker 3: rod Rust and the impact he had on him. Wow,
- 49:23Speaker 3: that's incredible book. So I actually met him. He sat
- 49:28Speaker 3: next to me. He was one of the nicest people
- 49:30Speaker 3: I've ever of the nicest guys. Yeah, he was so kind.
- 49:33Speaker 2: He kept and he was giving me information that he said,
- 49:36Speaker 2: what do you take a look at? What are your thoughts?
- 49:37Speaker 2: And I was like, he's asking me this. I don't
- 49:39Speaker 2: think it was great.
- 49:40Speaker 3: It was so I mean, it was so great having
- 49:42Speaker 3: him sit here and just little see those kinds of
- 49:45Speaker 3: things are you get a little nugget here and there.
- 49:48Speaker 3: You get the big picture too, but then you get
- 49:50Speaker 3: a little nugget here and there, and you just go, wow,
- 49:52Speaker 3: that's great, you know, because these guys just know so much,
- 49:56Speaker 3: you know.
- 49:56Speaker 1: It was a great blessed man, Greg Coach, I mean,
- 49:58Speaker 1: Ron Duwarsky, Bill Well, Steve rod Rust. I know there's
- 50:06Speaker 1: a lot more. All right, back to sort of strategic here,
- 50:10Speaker 1: because I'm just sort of I've been trying to brainstorm Meccha.
- 50:15Speaker 1: Buka is off to such a good start, and you
- 50:17Speaker 1: know he's normally playing that Z that you guys mentioned
- 50:20Speaker 1: moving around. I feel like if they tried to just
- 50:22Speaker 1: make him, to your point, Greg, the static X, that
- 50:26Speaker 1: invites Vic Fangio to just put quinon Mitchell and him
- 50:31Speaker 1: and and take him out if he can. But if
- 50:33Speaker 1: you put other players at the X. Scottie Miller's a
- 50:36Speaker 1: big guy. He's six to two, a nuts guy. Ryan
- 50:38Speaker 1: Miller is six two two twenty Sterling Shepherd can play it. Uh,
- 50:42Speaker 1: and you Letgbuka still move around. I feel like that's
- 50:46Speaker 1: probably a strategy that can keep Quinnon from from shadowing him.
- 50:50Speaker 1: Does that make sense?
- 50:51Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah, I mean, you know, it depends on you know,
- 50:55Speaker 3: with Evans out, I mean, Evans he wasn't always the X,
- 50:58Speaker 3: but he was kind of the X, right, you know,
- 51:00Speaker 3: so and you were right about Abuca he was. He
- 51:04Speaker 3: was the movement guy. And keep in mind that even
- 51:07Speaker 3: you know, when Evans was there, they were not, relative
- 51:09Speaker 3: to the rest of the NFL a high percentage pre
- 51:12Speaker 3: snap movement team. So you know, but that's something that
- 51:17Speaker 3: they certainly could add more of now that they may
- 51:19Speaker 3: not have a true boundary X type guy. You know,
- 51:22Speaker 3: that could be an adjustment they make. And they also
- 51:25Speaker 3: know that Quinnon Mitchell has been matching guys who are
- 51:28Speaker 3: the static receivers, so they may decide that, hey, let's
- 51:32Speaker 3: not have a static receiver, you know, on every Obviously
- 51:36Speaker 3: we're not talking one hundred percent of the time, you
- 51:38Speaker 3: know what I mean. But you know, they may decide,
- 51:40Speaker 3: we want more emotion, we want more you know, reduce splits,
- 51:43Speaker 3: we want more things that that prevent you know, Quinnron
- 51:46Speaker 3: Mitchell just on the outside from lining up on a guy.
- 51:49Speaker 1: Right and Adam clearly you know this guy Josh Grizzard
- 51:52Speaker 1: we're talking about, he will draw the red circle around
- 51:55Speaker 1: Khille Rito. Oh yeah, on that opposite side. So that's
- 51:59Speaker 1: an other reason I would want to try to get
- 52:02Speaker 1: on that side of the field.
- 52:03Speaker 3: Absolutely, And book is really strong.
- 52:05Speaker 2: So I I remember talking to some of our series coaches,
- 52:08Speaker 2: you know, granted him and they all they just professional.
- 52:12Speaker 2: I guess they interviewed him to speak of.
- 52:15Speaker 3: The combine the guy was. I made it a point
- 52:17Speaker 3: to what I had heard. He was a great kid.
- 52:19Speaker 3: So yeah, when he was at the podium, I listened
- 52:22Speaker 3: to him, he sounded like a ten year NFL pro.
- 52:24Speaker 2: I was gonna say like a senator because the I
- 52:27Speaker 2: talked to two coaches that I've known for a while
- 52:29Speaker 2: and they both kind of said, man, this kid's a
- 52:30Speaker 2: Hall of Fame person. Yeah, and look he's not gonna
- 52:33Speaker 2: He's not a speed guy. He's super strong, detailed, great
- 52:36Speaker 2: route runner, Jeff. I mean, it'll be interesting because with
- 52:41Speaker 2: Ringo expected to start, Parry Nixon's really a nickel. He
- 52:44Speaker 2: knows this game. He's been with. Vicky was with him
- 52:46Speaker 2: in Miami. They don't have Yeah, we know that Eli
- 52:49Speaker 2: Rix is back. They don't have anywhere else to go here,
- 52:51Speaker 2: like they if they go with more Levin, which they can, like,
- 52:55Speaker 2: you don't have to great backups to go eleven. I mean,
- 52:57Speaker 2: I remember when Brian Schottenheimer went with David Moore's as
- 53:00Speaker 2: three because he wanted to have eleven in twenty twenty
- 53:02Speaker 2: with Yeattle, you just if you have to do it,
- 53:04Speaker 2: you do it. I just want to see because I
- 53:06Speaker 2: let you mentioned Greg Kott he's a good football player.
- 53:09Speaker 3: He is.
- 53:10Speaker 2: They've always had Jeff, as you said it, back to
- 53:12Speaker 2: so many good pass targets. He would get the ball
- 53:15Speaker 2: out less so and got hurt. Well, Evans isn't playing.
- 53:17Speaker 2: I expect ought to get the ball up, but more
- 53:19Speaker 2: of this game.
- 53:21Speaker 1: Yeah, Uh, he's hurt the Eagles in the past too.
- 53:23Speaker 1: He's he's sneaky, caught some passes against them. He is
- 53:27Speaker 1: a good tight end. I always felt like he was
- 53:28Speaker 1: gonna have an accelerated role at some point, but he
- 53:31Speaker 1: always seems to have to play. Listen, they have good
- 53:34Speaker 1: wide receivers, they have godwhen they have.
- 53:35Speaker 3: Evans to the notch below. Like he's not at that
- 53:39Speaker 3: level of tight end that you go top five guys,
- 53:42Speaker 3: but he's sort of the notch below. But but he's
- 53:45Speaker 3: he's a good player.
- 53:46Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, all right, the Eagles did get a good bill.
- 53:51Speaker 1: I guess they got to. I don't want to call
- 53:53Speaker 1: him a break, but you know, it looked a little
- 53:54Speaker 1: sketchy with their linebacker situation earlier in the week when
- 53:58Speaker 1: they were both out of practice had to brace on,
- 54:01Speaker 1: but that came off by the end of the week
- 54:03Speaker 1: and looks like him and John Campbell are ready to go.
- 54:07Speaker 1: I expect this to be a really active game for them, Greg.
- 54:11Speaker 1: I just I mean, it's always an active game. But
- 54:13Speaker 1: we're starting to see Vic use them more on the
- 54:15Speaker 1: line of scrimmage when necessary, and their athleticism is really
- 54:19Speaker 1: shining through.
- 54:20Speaker 3: Yeah, Campbell was on the ball in nineteen snaps this week,
- 54:23Speaker 3: which was equal to the amount he was on in
- 54:25Speaker 3: the first two games combined. So you know, again, was
- 54:29Speaker 3: that specific to this week or is that something we'll
- 54:31Speaker 3: see more. We know that he's capable of doing that.
- 54:34Speaker 3: You know, even Bond is you know he's capable of
- 54:36Speaker 3: doing that as well, So it would not surprise me
- 54:39Speaker 3: if you see that. You know, both those guys. Mean,
- 54:42Speaker 3: Bond is obviously a great player, and Campbell, I don't
- 54:44Speaker 3: want to say he's been a surprise because he's so
- 54:47Speaker 3: physically talented, but I think just the consistency with which
- 54:51Speaker 3: he's playing and how he's playing has been how quickly
- 54:54Speaker 3: he's gotten to this is has been a little bit
- 54:57Speaker 3: of a surprise.
- 54:58Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely. All right, so that is a good personnel
- 55:04Speaker 1: and skiing matchup. I think we went through all the
- 55:06Speaker 1: x's and o's there. Now we get to the real expertise.
- 55:09Speaker 3: Boy, the game. This is a tough one, man, It
- 55:12Speaker 3: is tough. It is.
- 55:14Speaker 1: But before we do that, we're gonna hear one last
- 55:15Speaker 1: word from our great sponsors. Hey, Philly fans, game day
- 55:18Speaker 1: is stressful enough. Parking, traffic, long lines, We've all been there,

- 56:13Speaker 1: an experience made for Philly fans twenty one and up.
- 56:16Speaker 1: All right, I went first last week. This time Greg,
- 56:22Speaker 1: who wins and who is the game MVP?
- 56:25Speaker 3: This you know I've actually thought about this, and I'm
- 56:27Speaker 3: having a really tough time, a really tough time. Thanks.
- 56:30Speaker 3: They had so much trouble down in Tampa, you know,
- 56:34Speaker 3: and and normally I don't think like that about a game,
- 56:36Speaker 3: but it's just one of those things that's true. You know,
- 56:39Speaker 3: they really had a problem down there.
- 56:41Speaker 1: But Greg, but Greg, they made an adjustment. They flew
- 56:44Speaker 1: down on Friday to get used to that.
- 56:47Speaker 3: He Oh, so they're going to be used to it. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 56:49Speaker 3: so the way you.
- 56:50Speaker 1: Could have just walked outside. It's pretty hot up here
- 56:52Speaker 1: in the Delaware.
- 56:53Speaker 3: There, So I guess now that they're down there, they
- 56:54Speaker 3: probably won't sweat at all, though they'll be used to it. Yeah, yeah,
- 57:00Speaker 3: you know, you know, I think I think I'm gonna
- 57:07Speaker 3: pick the Eagles. Oh and I think it's gonna be
- 57:12Speaker 3: one of those really close, intense games. I'm just feeling
- 57:15Speaker 3: like a J Brown that to me, he's such a factor,
- 57:20Speaker 3: he's such a factor. And you know, again, I'm not
- 57:23Speaker 3: gonna sit here and say he's gonna get ten for
- 57:24Speaker 3: one eighty who knows, But I just feel like, you know,
- 57:28Speaker 3: you've got to throw the ball, and I just I
- 57:30Speaker 3: keep believing that there's a game in which they're gonna
- 57:33Speaker 3: come out throwing. They're going to establish Brown on the outside,
- 57:36Speaker 3: and it might be nine yard passes, you know. Like
- 57:40Speaker 3: I said, I don't know, but so I'm gonna pick
- 57:43Speaker 3: the Eagles to win in Brown as my player of
- 57:46Speaker 3: the game. But I'm gonna pick it to be twenty seventeen.
- 57:50Speaker 1: Okay, nice Holk scoring game, Adam. I should mention, by
- 57:55Speaker 1: the way, just because we like to do this for
- 57:57Speaker 1: those who get involved with this kind of thing, that
- 58:00Speaker 1: the Eagles are favored by three and a half down
- 58:04Speaker 1: in Tampa, despite their record against the Bucks. They are
- 58:07Speaker 1: favored by three and a half. The total pretty low
- 58:09Speaker 1: over under forty four and a half. Greg went more
- 58:12Speaker 1: than that.
- 58:13Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's interesting Eagles being a favorite on the
- 58:16Speaker 2: road here where they have not played well. But look
- 58:18Speaker 2: they've got Smith and Brown and Johnson, the law firm
- 58:22Speaker 2: of Smith, Brown and Johnson this week. So yeah, I
- 58:25Speaker 2: like the Eagles to win this game twenty four to twenty.
- 58:27Speaker 2: That the Evans absence is massive to me.
- 58:31Speaker 3: Yeah, just what he does.
- 58:32Speaker 2: He's unreal in the red zone, great size, one of
- 58:34Speaker 2: the best receivers NFL History's going to be a Hall
- 58:36Speaker 2: of Favorite easily unbelievable. How great of a football player
- 58:39Speaker 2: he's been for the Bucks and GM Jason Light What
- 58:43Speaker 2: a great pick that has been. So I like him
- 58:45Speaker 2: to win twenty four to twenty my player of the Game,
- 58:49Speaker 2: just because I the Bucks have problems on their offensive line.
- 58:53Speaker 2: Because we said Jalen card didn't play great last week,
- 58:56Speaker 2: He's going to be a home record this week. He
- 58:58Speaker 2: not Jordan Davis who played well last week. Obviously we
- 59:00Speaker 2: know how we closed the game. I'm gonna say, Jalen Carter,
- 59:03Speaker 2: I'm going to go off the board here a little
- 59:04Speaker 2: bit not pick an offensive player. Jalen Carter abuses the
- 59:08Speaker 2: Bucks offensive line, and that's going to be a big
- 59:09Speaker 2: difference in this game.
- 59:11Speaker 1: All right, I like it. You actually stole my thunder.
- 59:13Speaker 1: I also took defensive player. Oh, the player of the game. No, nope, no,
- 59:19Speaker 1: definitely not Kille Ringo. But I am picking the Eagles
- 59:23Speaker 1: to win. I picked it twenty six to twenty one.
- 59:27Speaker 3: You're always over the total.
- 59:29Speaker 1: Well that's not even a high score these days, I know,
- 59:32Speaker 1: but it's over is over, It is over. I you
- 59:36Speaker 1: know the Egles have won nineteen the last twenty games.
- 59:39Speaker 1: That's pretty amazing. It's almost really.
- 59:42Speaker 3: Amazing when you think about it.
- 59:43Speaker 2: Yeah, and you remember how they lost because Cidon Johnson
- 59:46Speaker 2: got thrown out of the game.
- 59:48Speaker 1: And also Jillen Hurts got hurt.
- 59:49Speaker 3: I mean we got hurt, right neck you?
- 59:51Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, So I mean they've lost. I guess
- 59:54Speaker 1: They've won nineteen straight games that Jalen Hurts has started
- 59:57Speaker 1: and finished, so that's pretty impressive. Yeah, yeah, including the playoffs.
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: So I'm just I'm gonna pick them. I'm gonna ride
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: with him until they prove me otherwise. And I'm saying
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: Quinya Mitchell, I think he's gonna do a shutdown job,
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: might even get a pick or two in this that's right,
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: So uh, Quea Mitchell is my guy. So it's a
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: clean sweep. We all say the Eagles win, we all
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: have different MVPs. That's gonna do it. For the Inside
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: the Birds pregame show previewing this week four matchup between
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: the Philadelphia Eagles and the Tampa Bay Bucks for Greg
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: Cosell and Adam Kaplan, I'm Jeff Mosher. Catch you on
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: the next one and enjoy your football watching.
