- 0:33SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to the High Level Wife Podcast.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: I am Chelsea Holm, your hostess, and here we do Marriage God's way.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: I help women to become tender, tenacious, and learning how confidently to take back territory that the enemy has stolen, especially in our marriage.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: And today I have a real spicy episode for you.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: It's about our real enemies.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: The last episode we talked about your husband and how it looks when you're actually fighting him.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: The episode before that was how to actually fight for your husband.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: And so this episode is about our real enemies.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: We have four.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: Okay, there are four enemies that we have: the flesh, the mind, Satan, and the world.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: So you need to know what you're actually fighting.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: So, as an overview, Satan is the personal enemy, the world is the external system opposed to God.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Our flesh is the internal pull towards sin, and the mind is the battleground where lies, desires, beliefs, and truth are entertained and acted upon.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: So we're going to dive into each of these and we're going to answer the question of which weapon does scripture give us for each of these battles?
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: Okay, so your husband clearly isn't the enemy.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: I just told you who is, right?
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: Scripture makes it very clear that you are in a battle.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: But I'm not going to sit here and simply tell you to stop fighting your husband.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: You need to know where this actual battle is because when you misidentify your enemy, you aim your weapons at the wrong target.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: So of these four places, your flesh, your mind, Satan, and the world, you need to understand that they're all connected, but they're not the same thing, which I just started the episode with.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: And understanding the difference here matters.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: So first and foremost, this is going to set the foundation for you that your husband is flesh and blood.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: And Ephesians 6:12 tells us, for we do not wrestle against flesh and blood.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: Your husband is flesh and blood.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: Go touch him, give him a kiss, feel his warmth if you don't believe me.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: Okay, he is flesh and blood.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: He gets a cut, he bleeds, right?
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: He is flesh and blood.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: Therefore, your husband is not your enemy.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: Neither is your child or the person frustrating you on the road, okay?
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: But how often do we spend all of our energy fighting people?
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: People are committed to this online all day long.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: But we completely ignore the actual battle happening underneath.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: So if the enemy can convince you that your husband is the enemy, you'll spend your strength fighting the person you were designed to stand beside.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: So let's dive into it.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: Enemy number one is your flesh.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: Galatians 5, 16 through 17 tells us for the desires of the flesh are against the spirit.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: So we have to start here because sometimes we're blaming Satan for something scripture tells us it's actually our own flesh, right?
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: This whole mentality of oh, Satan made me do it.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: No, girlfriend.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: No, probably not.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: No.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: Maybe it was actually that you wanted your own way because your flesh wants comfort, control, vindicate, gratification, ease, revenge, recognition to be right, validation.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: Your flesh does not naturally want humility, patience, forgiveness, self-control, sacrifice, submission, dying to yourself.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: But marriage exposes flesh beautifully.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: Because if your husband says something that you don't like and immediately you defend, correct, retaliate, withdraw, or punish, right?
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: We can spiritualize the whole thing, but sometimes the answer is incredibly simple.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: It's that my flesh wants to win.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: Galatians 5.24 tells us that those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: We don't negotiate with the flesh.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: Think of your flesh as a terrace.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: We don't negotiate with terrorists, okay?
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: We don't disciple the flesh into becoming nicer.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: We don't just try harder, we crucify it.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: We nail it to the cross until it breathes its last breath.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: So our practical weapon is self-denial and obedience through the spirit.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: Fasting is powerful here.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: Saying no to the flesh trains us to bring appetites under God's authority.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: It's our appetites that carry us off when our appetite needs to be first and foremost and only for God our Father.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: Romans 8:13 tells us that by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: So again, this is not you just willpowering your way through it or trying harder.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: This is by the spirit, you put to death the deeds of the body.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: Battlefield number two is your mind.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: So I wouldn't technically call your mind an enemy, but your mind is a battlefield.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: And this distinction matters because God gave you your mind.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: And Romans 12, Romans 12, one and two tells us that it can be renewed, right?
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: Do not be conform to the patterns of this world.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: But with the daily renewal of your mind, you know what you allow to occupy it profoundly affects how you live.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: What you're consuming, listening to, watching, thinking about, pondering about, spiraling over and over, right?
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: Second Corinthians 10 5 tells us to take every thought captive to obey Christ.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: Think about marriage.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: Your husband walks through the door quiet.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: Fact.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: He's quiet.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: Thought he's mad at me.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: Then he doesn't care about me.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: Here we go again.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: Nothing ever changes.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: Emotion follows, right?
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: Now we're upset.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: Now we're sad.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: Maybe now we're frustrated.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: Maybe now we're angry.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: Maybe now we're hurt.
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: And the behavior follows because when we feel those things, then there are things that we do or don't do.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: So now you're fighting a battle based upon something that may never have actually been true.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: And this is why thoughts matter.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: Because lies entertained become beliefs.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: It doesn't matter if it's true or not.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: Your brain doesn't need it to be true for you to believe it.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: Okay?
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: Belief produces responses.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: Responses repeated become patterns.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: You cannot allow every thought access to your heart simply because it appeared in your head.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: Again, Romans 12:2.
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: Be transformed by the renewal of your mind.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: Transformation requires truth.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: So the practical weapon here, I bet you can guess it, is the word of God.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: It's noticing, it's examining, it's taking captive, it's comparing it with truth, it's replacing the lie and obeying the truth, right?
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: Even though I feel afraid, even though I feel angry, God, your word says this.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: And because of that, this is how I will respond.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: Put that into practice.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: That's how you disrupt patterns.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: Enemy number three, Satan himself, my friend.
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: As I was uh having Chat GPT bullet out this episode point for me, a lot of times when I bring Satan into the picture, Chat GPT just somehow can't function in that moment.
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: Um, but this time it actually did.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: So anyway, praise the Lord.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: He is providing a way.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: You need to hear this today.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: So enemy number three is Satan.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: 1 Peter 5:8 tells us that your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: Scripture does not tell us that Satan is imaginary.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: Actually, it tells us that he masquerades as an angel of light, presenting himself as good things, counterfeit things, right?
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: It doesn't tell us to obsess over him either.
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: We live in this culture where Christians study the enemy more than they study God Himself.
- 9:50SPEAKER_00: We can't let it be.
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: This be sober-minded, this is one of the reasons that I don't drink.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: I don't drink alcohol because it's a it's a false spirit, it's a counterfeit spirit.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: All right, it's literally called spirits, where I am fully satisfied and want to drink the Holy Spirit, capital S.
- 10:19SPEAKER_00: Because when we have those small S spirits, yes, it's it's negatively impacting your body.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: Alcohol is poison, okay?
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: That's why nobody ever likes alcohol the first time they drink it, right?
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: You have to like build up a tolerance to it to trick yourself, deceive yourself into actually liking it, okay?
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: But be sober-minded, which means, and it's not just alcohol, it could be food, it could be any appetite, any appetite that is distracting us or drawing our attention away from the Lord, right?
- 10:51SPEAKER_00: So it could be endless scrolling, it could be binging entertainments of all kinds, it could be listening to music at all times and never creating space for silence and solitude, okay.
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: The enemy can use all of these things, okay.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: We are told to be sober-minded, to be watchful, to resist him, right?
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: It says, uh, I can't remember it, uh I can't remember the verse right now, but it says to draw near to God, resist the devil, and he will flee.
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: He has to.
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: So we resist him by drawing near to God.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: That's how we resist him, and by remaining firm in our faith, right?
- 11:35SPEAKER_00: Holding up that shield of faith which extinguishes every fiery dart.
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: The enemy shoots our way.
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: John 8 44, Jesus calls Satan the father of lies, right?
- 11:49SPEAKER_00: Satan is not usually a blatant liar, he takes a truth and he twists it slightly, right?
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: Remember back in the garden in Genesis 3, his opening strategy wasn't physical force, it was did God actually say distorted truth, question God's goodness, introduce doubt, get Eve to agree with a lie.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: Same playbook, he's not creative.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: Satan can't create anything, he's a counterfeiter, he doesn't he doesn't hold the power of creation.
- 12:21SPEAKER_00: Only God is able to create, and only we in his image are able to create.
- 12:33SPEAKER_00: Okay, he'll never change.
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: You can't trust God with this, you have to take control, you're alone, nothing will ever get better.
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: You deserve better.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: Make him pay, protect yourself.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: God isn't doing anything, and here's why the mind matters.
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: Remember, it's a battleground, the battlefield.
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: A lie offered by the enemy still has to be entertained before it becomes agreement.
- 13:07SPEAKER_00: So our practical weapon, Ephesians 6, I already mentioned this: the armor of God, the shield of faith, the sword of the spirit, the word, prayer, truth, righteousness, gospel, peace, and salvation.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: We resist him standing firm in faith.
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: And it's not in our own strength, we stand in God's might.
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: In James 4 7, oh, here it is.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: That's the reference.
- 13:29SPEAKER_00: James 4 7.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 13:31SPEAKER_00: I want you to understand this order.
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: Submit yourselves therefore to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
- 13:37SPEAKER_00: So I think I said earlier, draw near to God.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: Okay, he will draw near to you.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: I was mixing two passages.
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: So my bad, my bad.
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: I know a lot of scripture, I don't always know where, and sometimes I put passages together.
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: This is why I need good, good, godly, fruit-bearing people in my life to correct me and also bullet notes because I forget these things.
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: So James 4:7, submit yourselves, therefore, to God.
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: So submission is first, resistance is second.
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: Enemy number four, this is the world, right?
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: Romans 12, too.
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: Do not be conformed to this world.
- 14:12SPEAKER_00: The world is constantly discipling you, constantly, right, going against the Lord.
- 14:22SPEAKER_00: The interesting thing about it is when you look at culture, like I love that Tommy always says this, how's that working out for you, right?
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: We have men and women coming into the program that did things according to the world's patterns and standards, and it's not working out because now they're on the brink of divorce their houses burned to the ground and they're like, help, right?
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: Because the patterns of the world don't work, they lead to destruction and disconnect and no intimacy with each other or the father.
- 14:51SPEAKER_00: Okay, culture is preaching sermons every day from school to social media to friends and algorithms, these are all discipling you.
- 15:03SPEAKER_00: Much of what culture teaches about marriage is completely contrary to scripture.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: Learning how to communicate better is not going to save or fix your marriage.
- 15:14SPEAKER_00: More date nights is not going to save or fix your marriage.
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: Having sex more is not going to save or fix your marriage.
- 15:22SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 15:22SPEAKER_00: All those are like in the weeds, low-level things that don't actually fix it.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: Right order fixes it, okay?
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: The world says follow your heart.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: Put yourself first.
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: You deserve to be happy.
- 15:35SPEAKER_00: If he doesn't meet your needs, then leave.
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: Find someone else who will.
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: Never submit.
- 15:39SPEAKER_00: Protect your independence, right?
- 15:41SPEAKER_00: This is where we have separate checking accounts, separate bank accounts, right?
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: Separate pay, like dividing the marriage 50-50 in responsibilities, right?
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: Looking at each other as partners or roommates or whatever.
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: The lie of your truth is your truth.
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: Ain't no truth but the big T capital truth, God's truth.
- 16:03SPEAKER_00: Okay, your body belongs only to you.
- 16:06SPEAKER_00: Hmm, it does not.
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: Marriage exists primarily for your fulfillment and your happiness, your happily ever after.
- 16:15SPEAKER_00: But Jesus, on the other hand, says, deny yourself, take up your cross, follow me, serve, right?
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: Don't seek to be served.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: Forgive, do not withhold forgiveness, or the Father Himself will refuse to forgive you.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: Love, right?
- 16:32SPEAKER_00: Love is only possible because God first loved us.
- 16:37SPEAKER_00: And it starts with loving God with all our heart, soul, strength, and mind.
- 16:40SPEAKER_00: And it's only because of that are we then able to love others as ourselves, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: The only way that we can do that is out of reverence for Christ.
- 16:53SPEAKER_00: Become one flesh, one body.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: Seek first his kingdom.
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: Those are two completely different kingdoms.
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: First John 2, 15 through 17 tells us to do not love the world or the things in the world.
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: The world is passing away.
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: Listen, your life is but a breath.
- 17:13SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: Like within a couple generations, your family is going to forget about you.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 17:19SPEAKER_00: That's just the honest truth.
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: It is.
- 17:23SPEAKER_00: Think about your great-grandparents now.
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: Think about your great-great-grandparents.
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: Do you know anything about them?
- 17:29SPEAKER_00: Do you even know their name?
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: I don't for my family.
- 17:36SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 17:36SPEAKER_00: But whoever does God's will abides forever.
- 17:39SPEAKER_00: The work that we do for the Lord is the only thing that cannot be shaken or burned away when Jesus returns.
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: So our practical weapon here is non-conformity through truth and obedience.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: So stop letting culture catechise, catechise.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna have to go Google it.
- 18:05SPEAKER_00: Clearly, I missed that one when I was reading through my bullet points for this.
- 18:09SPEAKER_00: But okay.
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's like totally a Catholic term, right?
- 18:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's a Catholic term.
- 18:16SPEAKER_00: Okay, so essentially what we're saying here is stop letting culture disciple you more than scripture does, right?
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: Why are we allowing culture to influence us or tell us what's important or how things should be?
- 18:29SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 18:30SPEAKER_00: That's the job of scripture.
- 18:32SPEAKER_00: All scripture is profitable for um for correction, for teaching, for training up in righteousness, right?
- 18:40SPEAKER_00: So we need to ask ourselves, where did I learn this belief?
- 18:43SPEAKER_00: Is this actually biblical?
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: Or have I simply heard it so often that it feels true, right?
- 18:49SPEAKER_00: There is so much in the nutritional world that we have just heard verbatim for years that we began believing it, right?
- 18:56SPEAKER_00: There is so much in the nutritional world, so much, right?
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: Question everything, okay.
- 19:00SPEAKER_00: Anyway, except for God.
- 19:02SPEAKER_00: But God is big enough, we can bring our questions to Him, okay?
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: So don't mishear me on that.
- 19:07SPEAKER_00: All right, now watch how this works together, okay?
- 19:09SPEAKER_00: This is where it gets interesting.
- 19:10SPEAKER_00: Imagine that your husband makes a decision that you disagree with.
- 19:14SPEAKER_00: So the world tells you a strong woman doesn't let a man tell her what to do, while Satan whispers you can't trust him, and you definitely can't trust God with what happens next.
- 19:25SPEAKER_00: And your mind entertains this in if I don't step in, everything is going to fall apart, and your flesh says, take control, and suddenly you're fighting your husband.
- 19:37SPEAKER_00: But look underneath, he was never the actual battle, and this is why we need discernment because not every struggle is Satan or the flesh or culture, but scripture teaches us to recognize all of these influences so instead of immediately reacting, we pause, we ask ourselves: Is this my flesh demanding its way?
- 20:02SPEAKER_00: What thought am I believing?
- 20:05SPEAKER_00: Is there a lie here that needs to be resisted?
- 20:08SPEAKER_00: Has culture discipled me into believing something contrary to scripture?
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: What does God's word actually say?
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: And then we use the right weapon, okay?
- 20:22SPEAKER_00: So if it's the flesh, we deny it.
- 20:24SPEAKER_00: We walk by the spirit.
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: And when I say deny it, I don't mean like, oh, we just ignore it and it's not there, pretend it's not there.
- 20:30SPEAKER_00: No, deny it means that we say no to it.
- 20:33SPEAKER_00: We walk by the spirit, we fast if we need to, and we obey.
- 20:38SPEAKER_00: What about if it's our mind?
- 20:39SPEAKER_00: We renew it, we take our thoughts captive and we replace those lies with truth.
- 20:44SPEAKER_00: Big T capital truth.
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: It's not subjective.
- 20:48SPEAKER_00: What if it's Satan?
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: We resist him, we put on the armor, we stand firm in faith, we pray, we praise.
- 20:55SPEAKER_00: The enemy hates praise.
- 20:57SPEAKER_00: One of my dear friends, um, who is a pastor's wife, has actually, you know, been present when there were demons, um, and they were being cast out.
- 21:10SPEAKER_00: And you know what they hate?
- 21:12SPEAKER_00: First of all, they sound like whiny baby teenagers, all whingy and whatever.
- 21:18SPEAKER_00: However, they hate praise, they hate worship, okay?
- 21:24SPEAKER_00: They hate it.
- 21:26SPEAKER_00: Speak truth, right?
- 21:30SPEAKER_00: One name we got to say is Jesus.
- 21:33SPEAKER_00: All right, he holds the authority and the power, and we have that power in us enabled through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
- 21:41SPEAKER_00: What about if it's the world?
- 21:42SPEAKER_00: We refuse conformity, okay.
- 21:44SPEAKER_00: I don't care if Susan Body Homemaky McGee says that all you know, she has to homemake everything, right?
- 21:54SPEAKER_00: Because of toxins in this world.
- 21:56SPEAKER_00: That is true.
- 21:57SPEAKER_00: We have toxins in this world and we should care for our bodies, but right, I don't care.
- 22:01SPEAKER_00: Um, what about what about um, you know, the the local what's it called?
- 22:08SPEAKER_00: PTO mom, right?
- 22:09SPEAKER_00: And she's like, you got to be involved in all these things, and you know, if you're not involved in these things, then you must not care about your kids.
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: Don't care, right?
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: How about Bob Dingle?
- 22:19SPEAKER_00: You know, the the the traveling sports people that's like, if you don't get your kid in this right now at three years old, they're never gonna make it to the Olympics or the pros, right?
- 22:28SPEAKER_00: Don't care, not how we spend our time, right?
- 22:31SPEAKER_00: Pick your thing.
- 22:32SPEAKER_00: Um I don't know if any local people listen to this, but this might ruffle some feathers.
- 22:37SPEAKER_00: But you know, Taylor Swift is huge.
- 22:40SPEAKER_00: There was like our local theater showed her eras to her or something, and there were like all the teenage girls went, not my daughters, why?
- 22:49SPEAKER_00: Because that is not what we submit ourselves to, okay.
- 22:55SPEAKER_00: So we come out of agreement with cultural lives, we saturate ourselves in scripture, we live differently.
- 23:01SPEAKER_00: If your life is indistinguishable from your neighbor, right, and they're not a Christian, there's a problem with that.
- 23:13SPEAKER_00: And it's not just about externally what we do, it's about it's about the fruit that's being produced in and through us.
- 23:20SPEAKER_00: Okay, so this is what a warring wife does.
- 23:23SPEAKER_00: She doesn't wake up looking for a fight with her husband, she recognizes the actual battle, she masters her flesh under Christ, she renews her mind with truth and she resists Satan.
- 23:33SPEAKER_00: She refuses conformity with the world.
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: And then she can stand beside her husband instead of constantly standing against him.
- 23:41SPEAKER_00: She can be tender toward her husband, tenacious against the actual enemy, and taking back territory that lies, flesh, sin, and worldly thinking have stolen.
- 23:52SPEAKER_00: So go study it, read Galatians 5, 16 through 26 is about our flesh versus the spirit, Romans 12, 1 through 2, renewal and the world, Ephesians 6, 10 through 18, spiritual warfare, 2 Corinthians 10, 3 through 5, taking thoughts captive.
- 24:11SPEAKER_00: Then ask, Lord, where am I fighting the wrong enemy?
- 24:15SPEAKER_00: Where is my flesh ruling me?
- 24:18SPEAKER_00: What thought needs to come under Christ's authority?
- 24:21SPEAKER_00: What lie have I believed?
- 24:24SPEAKER_00: Where have I been discipled more by culture than by your word?
- 24:28SPEAKER_00: And what weapon have you already given me for this battle?
- 24:32SPEAKER_00: Listen, Christian wife, you are at war.
- 24:35SPEAKER_00: Okay, you need to understand that the greatest trick the enemy ever played was um convincing the world that he didn't exist.
- 24:41SPEAKER_00: He absolutely does, and he hates us, and his one mission is to destroy us and separate us from God, but he can't do it unless we give him that access and that authority.
- 24:55SPEAKER_00: So your husband isn't the enemy, right?
- 24:58SPEAKER_00: Your husband isn't the enemy, your husband isn't the enemy.
- 25:01SPEAKER_00: Say it with me 10 times, as many times a day as you need to repeat that.
- 25:04SPEAKER_00: Okay, so stop firing at flesh and blood.
- 25:07SPEAKER_00: Know the battle, know your weapons, know your authority belongs under Christ, and above everything else, stay submitted to your commander because you don't win spiritual battles by becoming more controlling.
- 25:21SPEAKER_00: Never has a wife ever, okay?
- 25:23SPEAKER_00: You win by becoming more surrendered, tender, tenacious, and taking back that territory that the enemy has stolen.
- 25:32SPEAKER_00: I'll see you on the next episode.
