Speaker 1: putt and practice. If you don't have time for a

Speaker 1: full round, book your tea time today golf dot Breck
• 0:23
Speaker 1: dot org. Golf dot Breck dot org. Kellen Moore first
• 0:28
Speaker 1: full week on the job in New Orleans and has
• 0:30
Speaker 1: a lot of work to do. Obviously, the New Orleans
• 0:33
Speaker 1: Saints have to clear a whole bunch of but fifty
• 0:36
Speaker 1: million dollars in cap space. They gotta go through evaluations,
• 0:40
Speaker 1: their current roster, draft free agents, all that good stuff.
• 0:44
Speaker 1: But Kellen Moore has also got to fill out a
• 0:46
Speaker 1: coaching staff, and that's something that he began doing in
• 0:50
Speaker 1: earnest here on Tuesday with a trio of editions joining
• 0:55
  Speaker 1: the staff.
• 0:56
Speaker 2: Right now, let's run through each of these.
• 0:57
Speaker 1: If we could give you a thumbnail on the three
• 1:00
Speaker 1: new additions to the New Orleans Saints coaching staff, and
• 1:03
Speaker 1: we'll start with what is a very familiar name to
• 1:07
Speaker 1: New Orleans Saints coaches, players, front office, probably some fans
• 1:11
Speaker 1: as well. Joel Thomas is headed back to New Orleans
• 1:15
Speaker 1: as the Saints running backs coach after spending this past
• 1:19
Speaker 1: season with the New York Giants. Now, if you're not familiar,
• 1:21
Speaker 1: Joel Thomas is fifty years old, spent nine years with
• 1:25
Speaker 1: the New Orleans Saints from twenty fifteen through twenty twenty three. Now,
• 1:31
Speaker 1: he wasn't fired, but he was allowed to pursue the
• 1:35
Speaker 1: job with the Giants. Effectively, Dennis Allen didn't block him
• 1:39
Speaker 1: from leaving. Sort of an agreeable departure a year ago.
• 1:43
Speaker 1: Well after one year in New York without Saquon Barkley,
• 1:46
Speaker 1: A little bit of a different job coaching the Giants
• 1:48
Speaker 1: running backs when you do have Saquon Barkley. Joel Thomas
• 1:52
Speaker 1: back in New Orleans with the Saints. Of course, last
• 1:56
Speaker 1: year running backs coach Derek Foster, who came in for
• 1:58
Speaker 1: one season. He is now Cowboy running backs coach Derek Foster.
• 2:01
Speaker 1: So Kellen Moore had a vacancy. I think it speaks
• 2:04
Speaker 1: to the respect that a guy like Joel Thomas has,
• 2:08
Speaker 1: not only in the locker room, within the organization around
• 2:11
Speaker 1: the NFL when a coach he's never worked with after
• 2:14
Speaker 1: being gone one year from New Orleans brings him back
• 2:17
Speaker 1: to New Orleans and how much Joel Thomas wanted to
• 2:19
Speaker 1: be back with the New Orleans Saints. So Kellen Moore
• 2:22
Speaker 1: is added Joel Thomas as the running backs coach who
• 2:25
Speaker 1: will have the opportunity to coach Alvin Kamara's coach Alvin
• 2:29
Speaker 1: kamaras whole year except for this past season, and then
• 2:31
Speaker 1: try to maximize Kendre Miller. Saints have a quarterbacks coach
• 2:36
Speaker 1: as well. It Scott Tolzen. If you're a football fan
• 2:39
Speaker 1: over the last fifteen years or so, that name sounds familiar.
• 2:42
Speaker 1: Tolsen was a quarterback at Wisconsin you might remember bounced
• 2:46
Speaker 1: around the NFL, probably most notably his time with the
• 2:49
Speaker 1: Indianapolis Colts, where he did start a few games, played
• 2:52
Speaker 1: in ten career games.
• 2:53
  Speaker 2: With four starts.
• 2:54
Speaker 1: Tolsan's just thirty seven years old, but there's overlap here.
• 2:57
Speaker 1: So Tolsen worked with Kellen Moore in Dallas, so he
• 3:02
Speaker 1: was a Tolsen was a coaching assistant in Dallas for
• 3:05
Speaker 1: three seasons twenty twenty one and twenty two with Kellen Moore,
• 3:09
Speaker 1: and then when Moore left to go to the Chargers
• 3:12
Speaker 1: last year and then the Eagles this year, Tolsen was
• 3:15
Speaker 1: elevated to the Cowboys quarterbacks coach. So he's been there
• 3:19
Speaker 1: in Dallas ever. Tolsen has ever since twenty twenty. This
• 3:24
Speaker 1: is another assistant that knows Kellen Moore well and vice versa.
• 3:28
Speaker 1: It is worth noting Dallas didn't try to keep Tolsy
• 3:31
Speaker 1: his contract expired. They let it expire, they didn't resign him,
• 3:35
Speaker 1: so effectively, Tolsen was a coaching free agent. Of course,
• 3:38
Speaker 1: Mike McCarthy out Brian Schottenheimer in Schottenheimer chose not to
• 3:42
Speaker 1: retain Tolsen, going a different direction with the staff. The
• 3:45
Speaker 1: big question for the Saints, of course, Look, Kellen Moore
• 3:49
Speaker 1: is going to work with the quarterbacks. I mean he
• 3:50
  Speaker 1: played quarterbacks, he's a quarterbacks coach, he's offensive coordinator. It's
• 3:53
Speaker 1: going to call plays. So this role of quarterbacks coach
• 3:56
Speaker 1: at Scott Tolsan's going to fill is more of an
• 3:59
Speaker 1: assistant to Kellen Moore type role and not so much
• 4:04
Speaker 1: of a standalone spot where he's gonna have great autonomy
• 4:07
Speaker 1: or anything like that. The bigger question isn't who's your
• 4:10
Speaker 1: quarterbacks coach? The bigger question is who's your quarterback? And
• 4:14
Speaker 1: that's the same still got to figure out. And third
• 4:19
Speaker 1: staff hired that we became aware of on Tuesday is TJ.
• 4:23
Speaker 1: Paganetti off of the Eagles staff. Now Nick Underhill was
• 4:28
Speaker 1: the first to report this, and Pagnetti was title with
• 4:32
Speaker 1: New Orleans as of right now is unknown. He was
• 4:35
Speaker 1: the run game coordinator and assistant offensive line coach for
• 4:39
Speaker 1: the champs in twenty twenty four. It's notablecause remember Brooks Scabina,
• 4:43
Speaker 1: who was with us last week, was talking about Eagle's
• 4:48
Speaker 1: assistants and how Nick Sirianni handled that, you know, wanting
• 4:51
Speaker 1: his guys to be able to get head coaching opportunities,
• 4:54
Speaker 1: but didn't necessarily like guys coaching his staff.
• 4:57
Speaker 2: He is very encouraging for all his coaches to go
• 5:00
Speaker 2: get head coaching jobs, but once they do, you're not
• 5:03
Speaker 2: taking any of my guys. He locked down his staff.
• 5:05
Speaker 2: That's something that he carried over from working with Frank Wright.
• 5:08
Speaker 2: Frank Rereich had the same deal support go get your job,
• 5:11
Speaker 2: but these are my guys. This is that's what we've had.
• 5:14
Speaker 2: So I asked Brooks.
• 5:15
Speaker 1: How many he'd get, he said too, meaning how many
• 5:18
Speaker 1: Kellen Moore would take?
• 5:18
  Speaker 2: He said too.
• 5:19
Speaker 1: And his guess is we're Nuss Meyer and Kevin Petullo.
• 5:23
Speaker 1: So far, no word yet on Petula. There was a
• 5:26
Speaker 1: report early on from Jeremy Fowler that Petullo was a
• 5:30
Speaker 1: name to watch. Who's the assistant head coach there in Philly?
• 5:33
Speaker 1: No word there. Kyle Vallero is another name that we've
• 5:37
Speaker 1: heard that was part of Brooks. Cabina's prediction was Kyle
• 5:42
Speaker 1: Vallero would follow Kellen Moore from from Philly. Had been
• 5:47
Speaker 1: with Moore in Dallas as well. But so far the
• 5:51
Speaker 1: coaches that have interviewed from the Eagle staff are Doug
• 5:54
Speaker 1: nas Meyer, Jamal Singleton, Christian Parker. We mentioned Valero, Petulo
• 6:01
Speaker 1: as possibilities and now they've hired TJ. Pagnetti again undetermined
• 6:07
Speaker 1: yet undefined what his role will be. And I'm curious
• 6:10
Speaker 1: what role he fills because this was a guy that
• 6:12
Speaker 1: was in his time as a head coach, has been
• 6:15
Speaker 1: a running backs coach, a tight ends coach. Here recently
• 6:18
Speaker 1: in Philadelphia, he was the run game coordinator and an assistant
• 6:21
Speaker 1: offensive line coach Well Saints have already hired Brendan Nugent
• 6:26
Speaker 1: as the offensive line coach. And remember Nugent's another guy
• 6:29
Speaker 1: that has ties to New Orleans. Brendan Nugent, the new
• 6:31
Speaker 1: offensive line coach, had been in New Orleans from twenty
• 6:34
Speaker 1: fifteen to twenty twenty one. So when Peyton left, obviously
• 6:37
Speaker 1: in DA came back in Nugent was gone. But it
• 6:42
Speaker 1: is worth mentioning now the Saints have hired TJ. Pagnetti,
• 6:47
Speaker 1: one Eagles assistant, it's likely that nuss Meyer becomes the
• 6:51
Speaker 1: offensive coordinator. Do any of the other guys we mentioned Valero, Petulo,
• 6:57
Speaker 1: Parker Singleton, Do any of those guys join Kellen Moore
• 7:02
Speaker 1: staff in New Orleans as well? Just something worth keeping
• 7:04
Speaker 1: an eye on. But as of right now we know
• 7:06
Speaker 1: three assistants have joined Kellen Moore's staff as of as
• 7:12
Speaker 1: of Tuesday. Three more assistants joining Kellen Moore staff as
• 7:15
  Speaker 1: of Tuesday.
• 7:16
Speaker 2: I know this was interesting as well, Thank you, mus
• 7:19
  Speaker 2: This was.
• 7:19
Speaker 1: When when Scott Tolsene it spent the last two years
• 7:22
Speaker 1: with the Dallas Cowboys as the quarterbacks coach. Uh, this
• 7:27
Speaker 1: was just a little This was a SoundBite from Tolsine
• 7:30
Speaker 1: at their media availability when he was with Dallas, and
• 7:32
Speaker 1: just a little perspective on Scott Tolzen as a coach.
• 7:36
Speaker 3: From my end, it's more these good seasons are gonna happen,
• 7:39
Speaker 3: bad season are gonna happen. You're always, you know, common sense,
• 7:42
Speaker 3: but you're you're you're trying to emphasize the good and
• 7:45
Speaker 3: UH and also emphasize the bad. So that one thing
• 7:47
Speaker 3: I've learned as a coach is you get what you emphasize.
• 7:50
Speaker 3: So you know that's obviously starting into the UH this
• 7:54
Speaker 3: year's season. That's always on the forefront of your mind
• 7:57
Speaker 3: is like what are our improvement areas? So you know
• 7:59
Speaker 3: you may cut up those things and you try to
• 8:01
Speaker 3: bring it to life because the tape never lies, and
• 8:02
Speaker 3: that always helps support what you're trying to teach and
• 8:05
Speaker 3: what you're trying to coach.
• 8:06
Speaker 1: Smart guy play quarterback in the NFL has been coaching
• 8:09
Speaker 1: offense and quarterbacks in the NFL since twenty twenty and
• 8:14
Speaker 1: so a guy that the Kellen Moore is now bringing
• 8:17
  Speaker 1: to New Orleans.
• 8:19
Speaker 2: Three more hires for the New Orleans Saints
