- 0:03Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, guys, we're back here with Alex from
- 0:09Speaker 1: All Timeline.
- 0:10Speaker 2: How you going, I'm going, I'm feeling great. It's nice
- 0:12Speaker 2: to be here.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Oh fantastic. How's Australia traded you on this tour?
- 0:17Speaker 2: Are you happy or sad?
- 0:18Speaker 1: This is the last day.
- 0:20Speaker 2: It's been sick.
- 0:21Speaker 3: It's definitely bittersweet that the festival's already over. It's like
- 0:24Speaker 3: real quick, you know, it went by like that. But
- 0:27Speaker 3: it's been fun. I mean the last time we were
- 0:29Speaker 3: over here was twenty twenty three, so it's been a
- 0:31Speaker 3: little bit and now we're here with new music and
- 0:33Speaker 3: that feels good, and the response to the new music's
- 0:36Speaker 3: been incredible, and we have a couple more headline shows
- 0:39Speaker 3: after this, so we're sticking around in Brisbane for a
- 0:41Speaker 3: show this week.
- 0:43Speaker 2: So it's yeah, it's feeling good. Yeah, it's not over
- 0:45Speaker 2: yet really exactly, it's just getting started. Yeah, wicked.
- 0:48Speaker 1: And what's the most ausy thing that's happened on this run?
- 0:55Speaker 3: Man?
- 0:56Speaker 2: That I could go so many ways with that question.
- 0:59Speaker 3: I don't know, Like, the most auzzy thing that's happened
- 1:02Speaker 3: on this run is probably the amount of tim tams
- 1:04Speaker 3: I've had. Yeah, like like, I don't know if you
- 1:08Speaker 3: do this, but like do you dip them in tea? Ever?
- 1:10Speaker 2: Yes? Yeah?
- 1:11Speaker 3: So, like my hotel room is just empty tea cups
- 1:14Speaker 3: and empty tim Tam packets.
- 1:17Speaker 2: It's a it's an elephant's graveyard of tim Tam.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Rappers to ask, have you done the tim Tam slam?
- 1:23Speaker 2: What is that? Okay? So you buy both.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Ends off the tim Tam and then you suck a
- 1:27Speaker 1: liquid through it.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Don't drink the coffee or tea. Yeah, it's really hot,
- 1:31Speaker 2: but it's tullious. I'm in no more.
- 1:33Speaker 3: You do that. That's the most aussy thing I will
- 1:35Speaker 3: have done tomorrow. Ask me again, I will.
- 1:40Speaker 1: And are there any Aussie bands that you've really vibed
- 1:43Speaker 1: with on this tour that you hadn't heard before?
- 1:45Speaker 3: Man, you know, the one thing that I feel upset
- 1:48Speaker 3: about is that I have not been able to watch anybody.
- 1:51Speaker 3: It's been it's been tough to catch other bands. We've
- 1:53Speaker 3: been so in and out.
- 1:54Speaker 2: But like I will say, shout out to Stan.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Atlantic and Tonight Alive, who are good friends bars and
- 2:00Speaker 3: have him for a long time. Yeah, you know, it's
- 2:03Speaker 3: nice to like be over here and run into like
- 2:05Speaker 3: our friends that are from here.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Yeah, so it's it's been the same beautiful.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Is there a lost or ungrittished track in your catalog
- 2:16Speaker 1: that you think about releasing someday.
- 2:20Speaker 3: The one that comes to mind is a song called
- 2:21Speaker 3: Fool's Gold because it's been like we've teased it every
- 2:24Speaker 3: now and then and every April first, I like release
- 2:27Speaker 3: a little clip to.
- 2:28Speaker 2: People just to like continue to throw gas on that flame.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Yeah, and so I think if I like it, if
- 2:34Speaker 3: at some point we don't put it out, there might
- 2:36Speaker 3: be a mutiny within the fan base. Yeah, so that's
- 2:40Speaker 3: there's a good chance that maybe that'll have to see
- 2:41Speaker 3: the light of day.
- 2:42Speaker 1: So yeah, I think so, mate. And if you could
- 2:46Speaker 1: relive the creation of one album because of how fun
- 2:49Speaker 1: or chaotic it was, which one would you pick?
- 2:52Speaker 3: You know, every every album process has had its like
- 2:56Speaker 3: bright moments and obviously some like challenging moments because it's creative.
- 3:00Speaker 2: But I would say, like the.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Process of making our album Wake Up Sunshine really sticks
- 3:06Speaker 3: out to me because it was we rent it instead
- 3:09Speaker 3: of going into a studio, we rented a house. Yep.
- 3:11Speaker 2: We were in Palm Desert. We were in the middle
- 3:12Speaker 2: of nowhere.
- 3:13Speaker 3: It was off season, so there's no one around. All
- 3:15Speaker 3: the houses were empty, and it was just like all
- 3:18Speaker 3: of us under one roof with a swimming pool, and
- 3:22Speaker 3: if we weren't in the pool, we were inside making
- 3:24Speaker 3: music and it was just like it was a really.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Cool way to eat, sleep, and breathe the album.
- 3:31Speaker 3: And since doing it that way, we've really never gone back.
- 3:34Speaker 3: Like the last the subsequent records that came after that,
- 3:37Speaker 3: we sort of went to different places, but it was
- 3:39Speaker 3: the same method. We've We've like rented in air view
- 3:42Speaker 3: le or a house or something, set up a studio
- 3:44Speaker 3: and we kind of isolate and it's like it's just
- 3:47Speaker 3: a nice way to create with your friends. Yeah, And
- 3:49Speaker 3: there's not that like there's not that pressure that I've
- 3:53Speaker 3: found that when you're in a studio on studio time,
- 3:56Speaker 3: there's kind of like an expectation of like I must
- 3:58Speaker 3: make something yep, And when it's kind of just happening naturally,
- 4:01Speaker 3: it's there's it's more freeing, yeah, and a bit more loose,
- 4:04Speaker 3: and I think you get better.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Results, Yeah, definitely. And like you was saying, I guess
- 4:08Speaker 1: you'd feel it with every fiber of your bang.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Like in the field of music, you're just in it,
- 4:12Speaker 2: and it's like, you know, there's no rules.
- 4:14Speaker 3: It's because it's like as long as everybody's on the
- 4:16Speaker 3: same page, you can kind of like when I have
- 4:18Speaker 3: that moment at one am and I jumped out of
- 4:20Speaker 3: bed and I'm like, guys, someone hot, like I have
- 4:22Speaker 3: this thing, let's get it. Yeah, And when everyone's everyone's
- 4:25Speaker 3: down for that. It's like, that's that's how creativity works.
- 4:28Speaker 3: It's not like it doesn't work on a nine to
- 4:30Speaker 3: five schedules. Sometimes like it comes at three in the
- 4:32Speaker 3: morning and you have to.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Ride that out. So yeah, it's it's a good way
- 4:35Speaker 2: to do it. That's it. It works for us. Yeah.
- 4:38Speaker 1: And what's the strangest or funniest thing you've seen from
- 4:42Speaker 1: the stage?
- 4:43Speaker 3: Oh man, we've seen a lot of awesome things from
- 4:46Speaker 3: the stage.
- 4:48Speaker 2: I think, yes, two days ago. I mean there's just
- 4:54Speaker 2: there's so much. There's so many good things.
- 4:56Speaker 3: A couple of days ago, so we there was like
- 4:59Speaker 3: way in the back of the audience there was an
- 5:01Speaker 3: inflatable alien and I mentioned it.
- 5:04Speaker 2: And then by the towards the end of the show,
- 5:06Speaker 2: the guy and.
- 5:07Speaker 3: The alien, the guy that was carrying the alien was
- 5:10Speaker 3: like dead center front row, and he just sort of
- 5:13Speaker 3: like popped up in the crowd and became like the
- 5:15Speaker 3: star of the show for a minute because he was
- 5:17Speaker 3: just like alien.
- 5:19Speaker 2: So that that stands out in my recent memory.
- 5:22Speaker 3: I love that.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Do you believe in aliens?
- 5:25Speaker 3: Yes? Yeah? Good?
- 5:27Speaker 2: Yeah, you have to write too many possibilities for there
- 5:30Speaker 2: not to be I agree. Beautiful.
- 5:33Speaker 1: And if you could steal one song from another artist
- 5:36Speaker 1: catalog and make it an atl song.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Wow, what would it be? Oh, there's a lot of songs.
- 5:41Speaker 3: I'm pretty jealous of the one that sticks out like
- 5:45Speaker 3: in rock music, I would say I think ever Long
- 5:48Speaker 3: by the Foo Fighters is kind of like a perfect
- 5:51Speaker 3: it is rock song.
- 5:52Speaker 2: I feel like you got to do it.
- 5:54Speaker 3: And I'm sweet and I love that song so much.
- 5:57Speaker 3: That's one that I listened to and I go that, Hey,
- 6:00Speaker 3: I think it could be an all time low song. Yeah,
- 6:02Speaker 3: And I'm just like, why didn't Why not me? Why
- 6:06Speaker 3: didn't I get that one?
- 6:07Speaker 2: It could be I'm gonna steal it. I'm gonna steal
- 6:09Speaker 2: it down.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Yeah, beautiful, And what's a song that was born out
- 6:15Speaker 1: of a very real moment in your life that fans
- 6:17Speaker 1: may not realize is autobiographical?
- 6:20Speaker 2: Oh well, uh.
- 6:22Speaker 3: Man, I mean most most of the songs that we
- 6:26Speaker 3: put out to a degree or autobiographical. I mean, I'm
- 6:32Speaker 3: trying to think like that, not to like flip this
- 6:37Speaker 3: question on itself, but to the opposite. I've had a
- 6:39Speaker 3: lot of people on our new album. There's a track
- 6:41Speaker 3: called good Night Say Leave Yeah, and it's uh, it's
- 6:44Speaker 3: a pretty tragic story, and.
- 6:46Speaker 2: I have a lot of people going like, is that real?
- 6:49Speaker 2: Like did that happen?
- 6:50Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 6:50Speaker 2: And I'm like, no, obviously I wasn't shot.
- 6:54Speaker 3: I was I was not shot down in the streets.
- 6:56Speaker 3: But yeah, it's it's so that one is like a
- 6:58Speaker 3: lot of people thought it was from a real place.
- 7:00Speaker 3: I was like, no, this one's more of like a
- 7:02Speaker 3: hypothetical commentary.
- 7:04Speaker 2: Yeah, so I've had to, like shot, I've had to
- 7:07Speaker 2: reassure some people on that one. For sure. It's all
- 7:10Speaker 2: it's all okay, I didn't witness anything. Yes, all good,
- 7:13Speaker 2: all good, beautiful.
- 7:16Speaker 1: And what's the coolest, old, weiratest thing you've gotten from
- 7:18Speaker 1: a fan?
- 7:21Speaker 3: And We've been given a lot of cool, nice, odd
- 7:24Speaker 3: things over the years, you know what, there's a fun
- 7:27Speaker 3: one that stands out in my mind.
- 7:28Speaker 2: If it was they weren't like like it wasn't like
- 7:30Speaker 2: given to.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Us, but it was given to us to sign, and
- 7:33Speaker 3: it was it's this, uh, this lovely gal that comes
- 7:36Speaker 3: to a bunch of our shows in the States and
- 7:38Speaker 3: she has a prosthetic leg and she usually it's tradition
- 7:42Speaker 3: at least at our shows that she takes it off
- 7:44Speaker 3: crowdsurfs it, so it ends up on stage. And so yeah,
- 7:48Speaker 3: every time we sign it and then CrowdSurf it back,
- 7:50Speaker 3: and it's just like I can't remember, like what cities
- 7:53Speaker 3: it's it like she comes to the shows, but it
- 7:55Speaker 3: always stands out in my mind.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Of like it's the leg. It's the leg is back there.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Bring it.
- 8:01Speaker 2: That's so beautiful.
- 8:02Speaker 1: And last question, some of this tour in one.
- 8:07Speaker 2: Word, some of this tour will work. Oh my god,
- 8:11Speaker 2: not to put you on the spot. One word chaos,
- 8:16Speaker 2: but like good chaos. Yeah, wonderful, lovely.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Thank you so much, Alex, He's so good to see
- 8:22Speaker 1: you and
- 8:29Speaker 2: Loveday
