- 0:49One Life Spirits is built on purpose, culture, good people
- 0:53and good drinks so you can live one life to the fullest.
- 0:56That means shots that are smooth, tasteful, and pair
- 0:59perfectly with a lime. Or our favorite, in orange.
- 1:02Because if you're still chasing tequila with a lime, what are
- 1:05you doing? That orange slice brings out the
- 1:08bright citrus notes of Una Vida Blanco, which is smooth,
- 1:12authentic and tasteful. Like myself.
- 1:15Plus, Una Vida is 100% additive free, so you're enjoying tequila
- 1:19in its purest form without the hangover regret.
- 1:22Yeah, because it takes us three to five business days to recover
- 1:25now, and hang side is not my friend.
- 1:30That's why you should stick with una Vida or try cocktails
- 1:32instead of shots. Okay, a little bit little.
- 1:34One Life Spirits also crafts El Drago High Post vodkas and
- 1:38LeBron whiskey all bold, smooth and made to share.
- 1:41Whether it's game night, date night or just Tuesday night,
- 1:44they've got the pores covered. Because it's not just about
- 1:47taste, but it's about that feeling.
- 1:49And we're proud spirits knobs. So treat yourself.
- 1:53Visit onelifespirits.com, swing by the One Life Spirits bar
- 1:57inside of El Primo, or grab a bottle at your local liquor
- 2:00store. Cheers.
- 2:03Oh, but come over here. Stop licking him.
- 2:05He doesn't want to be licked. Some people don't like to be
- 2:07licked. You don't like to be licked.
- 2:09I usually like to be licked. You do.
- 2:10I just know that. Not by dog.
- 2:12No, no, the dog's gonna like love me after I start petting
- 2:15him. If I don't give him no attention
- 2:17yet, he won't fall in love with me.
- 2:20That's true. I I make that mistake,
- 2:22especially with dogs. They are so easy.
- 2:25Yeah, they're so easy. It's like dude, chill.
- 2:31I think I am too easy. You're you're too easy too,
- 2:33because. Just one leg child and I like, I
- 2:35like to, you know, affection, love and pet them.
- 2:38You're an only child. Yeah.
- 2:40OK. Was that hard?
- 2:43You know, it could be perspective because now I look
- 2:47for my own happiness. I'm not looking from it from no
- 2:50one else, which is a good trait because most people are looking
- 2:53from the happiness from someone else, from their other partner.
- 2:56Yeah. Yeah, that's fair.
- 2:57And I learned how to be happy before I get to someone and it
- 3:00just gave me a different self love I would say.
- 3:03Yeah. Did you have a lot of cousins or
- 3:04anything? I'm the oldest grandchild.
- 3:07I have a lot of grandchildren's but.
- 3:10You have a lot of grandchildren. You're an old man.
- 3:13I am. I got the big button, yeah.
- 3:15We're speaking to to an old man here.
- 3:18I am old. Yes.
- 3:19I'm old man. Yes, He's had.
- 3:20He's lived through many wars. I know at this point.
- 3:25Shit. So have we.
- 3:25Yeah. You ready?
- 3:26Yeah, I think we're ready. I think.
- 3:28Yeah, all. Right, let's get.
- 3:30I I always make the mistake of taking a sip before.
- 3:34I was trying to I was like I should I should wait.
- 3:37I'm so rude. I'm so fucking rude, dude.
- 3:40Fuck. All right.
- 3:41Boba, why am I host? Yeah.
- 3:43You going to sit down? I miss my dog.
- 3:48Chill. Good buddy.
- 3:50Good. Boy and welcome back to another
- 3:58episode of Here's to You the Podcast, our final episode here

- 4:18shout out to Still Nova, shout out to Trey Wiles.
- 4:23I man, we're doing a lot of cool stuff here.
- 4:26Thanks to everyone who has invited us into their home,
- 4:30who's invited us into their business, into their life, into
- 4:33all of their secrets too, 'cause we're going to say so many
- 4:36secrets. Just kidding.
- 4:38Into their city. People who've invited us into
- 4:40their city, basically. I mean, we shouldn't say like
- 4:42that, but their city, you know what I mean?
- 4:44Yeah, Trey has a new best friend.
- 4:46Yeah, he tried so hard not to touch the dog, but he liked
- 4:49them. Yeah, I told you you tried, but
- 4:54no, we haven't. We have someone who's really
- 4:57who's in a creative powerhouse. He is a media entrepreneur,
- 5:01creative strategist and a storyteller who spent the last
- 5:06decade helping businesses turn their content into real
- 5:09creation. He's building media businesses.
- 5:12He's got or he's built a media business.
- 5:15He's treating it like he's the CEO.
- 5:17He is also, you know, helping people record podcasts, shows.
- 5:24He's everywhere. And now he's here in your eyes,
- 5:26in all of your ear holes as well.
- 5:30Welcome, Trey. We're excited to have you here.
- 5:32Thank you. Thank you.
- 5:34How are you feeling? I really appreciate you guys
- 5:38even bringing me onto the show, even just the recognition, that
- 5:41means a lot. Ohh yeah, good.
- 5:43Well, really, a lot of this is Ashley.
- 5:46Ohh. We have to shout out Ashley and
- 5:49a lot of this she's she really loves giving people her flowers
- 5:52just like we do. And we're just really excited
- 5:55that we get to meet and talk to a lot of really cool people.
- 5:58Shout out to Ashley. Yeah, shout out to Ashley.
- 6:00And so thank you for coming and taking, like, stepping away from
- 6:04a nap because it's really hard to step away from a nap.
- 6:08Yeah. Like, geez, I hate that.
- 6:10What time are you awake at originally that you were able to
- 6:14take a nap? It's.
- 6:16Really. The kids now me, I'm up 24/7.
- 6:18Oh, OK, OK, fair. Yeah, Well, still then you had
- 6:22to get away from cuddles. Yeah, which is also hard.
- 6:25It is hard. So yeah, I don't want to get
- 6:27away from cuddles, you know what I mean?
- 6:29You see? The energy, they try to stay on
- 6:31to me. Yeah, yeah, Yeah, he was.
- 6:33Yeah, you're right. See, no one wants to get away
- 6:36from the cuddles from you. I.
- 6:37Got a magnetic personality? You do, you do, and you also
- 6:41have a very soft, soulful voice. It's because you're an old man.
- 6:46Benjamin Button. Yes, yes.
- 6:49But we made you, you're also an old man in a lightweight.
- 6:55So we made you a tequila sunrise using whenever you have Blanco
- 6:58tequila. And we did a one ounce of the
- 7:01gala instead of 2 oz. Normally cocktails always come
- 7:04with two. Yeah, typically.
- 7:06Sometimes. I mean for us a little bit more,
- 7:10but you know, heavy pores, heavy pores over here, but we did a
- 7:14more lighter 1. So let's let's, you know, try it
- 7:18out is. That your sponsor.
- 7:19Yes, one life spirit brands shout out to them.
- 7:22They're living one life, you know, so they're living it to
- 7:25the fullest like we are. This is all of their well, not
- 7:30all of them. I don't have a couple of their
- 7:32other spirits out right now, but we have high post when I view
- 7:37that and Lebon because those are the only ones that I brought to
- 7:40Oklahoma, but they have more. What do you think I?
- 7:45Think it's pretty good, especially the rim.
- 7:49Yeah, it's a beautiful rim, right, Isn't it?
- 7:54So it's. So it's so chunky when.
- 7:58Do you start making drinks? No, this is just for fun.
- 8:03I'm just an amateur. We're just Alcoholics.
- 8:06Right, the way you're making it back there, you are a
- 8:10professional. Yeah, I think it's just a sound.
- 8:12The sound makes it sound professional.
- 8:15Maybe, yeah. Yeah, but it's not really what
- 8:18I'm doing there's. The look of it.
- 8:19You know, it's the look. Yeah, actually we, I'm excited
- 8:24to post those. I've had a lot of fun accidents.
- 8:29Oh man. Yeah.
- 8:31Drop some stuff. Exploded.
- 8:33It might be the right word. Exploded.
- 8:35Yeah. Yeah, we need.
- 8:37To do some liquor commercials. I have explosion.
- 8:43You're like, this girl is not chill at all and like this
- 8:48girl's ready to make a lot of noise.
- 8:52That's fine. We can I embrace it.
- 8:55OK, I embrace it, but let's start out kind of like from your
- 8:59origin. So I'm curious, you know, I
- 9:02think like something that we like to do on the pod, of
- 9:04course, is we love to get into the messy metal, I guess of
- 9:07where we are all are all in life.
- 9:10I mean, it's not simple, it's not easy.
- 9:13We got to stop pretending it is and let's just embrace the messy
- 9:16metal. And so the other thing is that,
- 9:19you know, like we really want to redefine success.
- 9:22A lot of people are like, you have to own this, you have to do
- 9:24that, and that's not really what it is.
- 9:27So I'm curious though, let's take a step back.
- 9:30What did 18 year old you think success looked like?
- 9:34Or was man? I would say 18 year old me
- 9:37thought success was being able to have time for myself, my
- 9:41family. Wow, so you were always really
- 9:44smart then? I mean, I, I just seen just from
- 9:48experience, either you're going to work a job for someone
- 9:51forever or you're going to work for yourself forever.
- 9:53So I knew that I wasn't going to fire myself so.
- 9:56That's fair. What's the job?
- 9:59They're going to fire you anytime.
- 10:00That's fair, yeah. Yeah.
- 10:02I mean, just for the time period of working with them, you're
- 10:06only, it's like a stepping stone, a brick.
- 10:08You're not going to, they're not going to give you the highest
- 10:10payout. Yeah, yeah.
- 10:12How were you always, so were you always a serial entrepreneur or
- 10:17like went into entrepreneurship right away or did you have like
- 10:21an 8 to 5 at some point? The 401K route.
- 10:23Yeah, I started out as a Footlocker employee.
- 10:27Then I moved as a manager. I started selling shoes on the
- 10:29side. I'll buy a shoe and then I would
- 10:32sell it higher. Just like entrepreneurs.
- 10:34Buy low, sell high. Of course, of course.
- 10:37Yeah. Especially with the smelly feet.
- 10:39I mean, like, that's what makes them work.
- 10:41Yeah. You had a whole ring going,
- 10:42right? You had multiple girls with
- 10:44smelly feet being able to sell the smelly shoes.
- 10:47That's that's, that's a fetish. Even before the Foot Locker, I
- 10:51had a clean restoration shoe business.
- 10:55So like maybe like 10th grade, 11th grade was cleaning other
- 11:00kids shoes around in my school. And then, you know, make that a
- 11:04business. And then I did landscaping,
- 11:07cutting grass. Like middle school.
- 11:09I was taking out people's trash, knocking on your door.
- 11:13Like hey, for $5 or a dollar can I take out the trash?
- 11:16So you've always been very much like the work ethic has always
- 11:19been instilled, essentially, yeah.
- 11:21Most entrepreneurs come from some type of survival mode.
- 11:24OK. What were you trying to survive
- 11:26at that time? I mean, if you're living in
- 11:28poverty, you're trying to come up with some type of money.
- 11:30Yeah, Yeah. That's fair.
- 11:32So is that how you kind of grew up a little bit or like?
- 11:35Yeah, I would say everything's all perspective.
- 11:37Every you take a loss or a lesson, so I'll just look at it.
- 11:40The cars that I'm dealt with, this is just a lesson on how to
- 11:43survive. Yeah, and you said you were an
- 11:46only child too, right? OK, yeah.
- 11:49And what was? But you also loved that.
- 11:53Yeah, it's cool. I mean, it's perspective again.
- 11:55Yeah. Sometimes you're lonely.
- 11:57But then at the time you figure out how to have an imagination,
- 12:00you learn how to play by yourself.
- 12:02You learn how to basically just that inner voice that's in you.
- 12:06You talk to that a little earlier than later on you.
- 12:08Know, yeah, yeah. It sounds though, like maybe
- 12:12someone was there pretty early for you that was helping or was
- 12:17this all just you like maybe picking up things as you're
- 12:19meeting random people trying to figure out like I'm picking up
- 12:22this piece from this person. I'm picking up this from this.
- 12:25I'm definitely not over there 1000% so.
- 12:29The camera helped me a lot with that too, is I get to see behind
- 12:33the scenes of a lot of a list celebrities or talents or
- 12:37artists how their lives will operate and their businesses.
- 12:40So, you know, it would just give you the ambition even more like,
- 12:44Hey, I'm trying to achieve this, whatever is righteous good in
- 12:47this way. But at the same time, OK, you
- 12:49might have a system that helps you propel your your family this
- 12:53way or your business this way. So I would just take bits and
- 12:56pieces. OK, You read the product, your
- 12:58environment or the change that you want to see.
- 13:00So I will see something over there like that's not really,
- 13:03you know, but OK, over here. They took a good piece out of
- 13:06it. They took the grit out of it.
- 13:07They took the the mental fortitude or the emotional
- 13:10resilience out of the situation, and they learn how to pursue and
- 13:14push through and get the strength.
- 13:16Yeah. Yeah, who, what was like one
- 13:19piece that like really stuck with you that like was like this
- 13:22is maybe propelled you forward or like at what point, whether
- 13:25that's childhood or later on in life that like kind of really
- 13:31set that stage for you. Two things I heard one was it's
- 13:36easy to give up. I mean, it's hard to keep going
- 13:38and it's hard to give up. So it's like just choose your
- 13:41hard. And another one was a Tony
- 13:43Robbins was pain is temporary and suffering is optional.
- 13:48So it's like you can be in a relationship and it could be
- 13:50painful to be neglected and all those other things, but or it's
- 13:55suffering, you're not being seen all those.
- 13:56But if you leave the relationship, it will hurt for a
- 13:59little bit, which is painful. And then eventually you'll find
- 14:02that self love and be able to deal with yourself versus
- 14:05pacifying a relationship with someone who really doesn't see
- 14:08you fully. Yeah.
- 14:11Have you have you felt like you've had to learn that lesson
- 14:13a couple of times or? Real example.
- 14:16Yeah, yeah. Is your, is that something that
- 14:21you feel like you're still trying to relearn?
- 14:23And I, I mean, like, I get it. I've been there too, right.
- 14:25Like you kind of, you tend to see the best in people and then
- 14:30you're like, no, but there's this.
- 14:32And so then you almost, you let things slide.
- 14:37You give people a lot of grace and maybe sometimes you're
- 14:41hoping that someone will give that back to.
- 14:42You yes, yes, I I think it could be the only child in me.
- 14:46I was raised by a single parent so I guess I would just learn
- 14:52how to develop more self love later on because like once you
- 14:55got kind of more self love for yourself, it's just like.
- 14:57For sure. I'm not letting you treat me
- 15:00that way. I'm not letting you do me that
- 15:01way or none of the other type of things is like I have more love
- 15:05for myself and I see how the way you're making me feel or I feel
- 15:08this experience. So it's just kind of more
- 15:11boundaries, you know, It's like, all right, I can't let those pre
- 15:13few people or anybody play with me in that type of way.
- 15:17Yeah. There was something that I had
- 15:19seen that was what was it? It was like, show me who you
- 15:24love and I'll tell you how much you respect yourself.
- 15:27And I was like, damn, you know what I mean?
- 15:29Like that really hit like who who you're loving.
- 15:33Like that tells me how much you respect yourself.
- 15:35And I. Don't really like.
- 15:37Me or anyone else's. Because like, we just, we're
- 15:40here. Yeah, we're all in our.
- 15:42Journey. Yeah, we're all in our journey.
- 15:44Everyone has distractions. Everybody has all type of
- 15:47things. That's why it makes them them.
- 15:49That's what's all makes us unique.
- 15:51Yeah. It's just I like to have a
- 15:53growth mindset about it though. Yeah, you're in that situation.
- 15:57But are we trying to get better in the future?
- 15:59Are we trying to you? Know.
- 16:00Yeah, for sure. Yeah.
- 16:01Because some people might stick in the funk, but you know,
- 16:03eventually you got to smell your own funk.
- 16:05Like, hey, this is stink. Take accountability, hey?
- 16:08Can you run that back? What did I say?
- 16:11What? I you were saying some people
- 16:13stink in the funk, but you have to smell your own funk at some.
- 16:16Point. You know, you know you're.
- 16:18Sink in the funk. Sorry, sit in the funk like,
- 16:19yeah, your funk stinks too. Take accountability and just
- 16:24eventually, well, hey, I might have an attitude problem.
- 16:26I might have a whatever problem it is, or I might I might agree
- 16:31too much to too many things and I have a big heart.
- 16:33This is real examples. Yeah, I have a big heart.
- 16:36I want to people please too much and that end up leaving into
- 16:40leaving people hurt like I'll over commit and then now I'm
- 16:44leaving these people hurt and now it's like, OK, he didn't
- 16:47mean any ill will or I'll intentions, but you know, you
- 16:51got time, you know, you got to be able to manage your time
- 16:53better. So that's that was part of being
- 16:54the CEO too. It's just I have all these other
- 16:57endeavors and all this other stuff and I got like, hey, man,
- 16:59this is really down. Only do 1-2 endeavors over here.
- 17:03Same family here. Make sure you at least I got a
- 17:05random reminder on my phone like check in with someone.
- 17:08Oh that's sweet I get locked in. It's locked in and I got.
- 17:13A tunnel visual. Yeah, and I got to call someone
- 17:15old. It's like I haven't talked to in
- 17:17a while. It might be a old mentor, old
- 17:19friend, old someone. Just check in.
- 17:21Like, hey, have a good day. Oh.
- 17:23That's. Sweet.
- 17:23Yeah, it doesn't got to be a long combo and nothing like
- 17:25that, but just the thought. And then that might sprinkle the
- 17:28seed and they call me later on or I might call them later or
- 17:31hey, let's link up and let's do this.
- 17:33Hey I got a client to do this or not for business intentions but
- 17:36I'm. Just, of course, like to check
- 17:37in. Yeah, yeah, chicken.
- 17:38Really check in. Yeah.
- 17:40And that again, like pouring into people.
- 17:42Well, I mean pouring into the relationships that you want to
- 17:45continue to, to develop and Foster and love.
- 17:50It is so easy to add the the world is so busy.
- 17:53Everything is so busy. Everything is so fast.
- 17:55Everything is so fast here in the US all the time.
- 17:57Things are like always running 1000 mph.
- 18:02And it is so easy to get lost in your own things.
- 18:05And cultivating that tribe, tribe and community, just
- 18:08finding your community, finding people that support you is like,
- 18:12not people. That's like tolerating you just
- 18:14let you hang around. Maybe talking earlier is like
- 18:16the cliquish stuff, Like, yeah, it's too many cliques and
- 18:20everyone is like they're on their own things.
- 18:22I don't know. It's just not everyone's is like
- 18:24open about stuff. So I believe people pushed off,
- 18:27closed off. Right.
- 18:28Like I think when we were talking about that earlier, I
- 18:32mean with the whole cliques, like you can have people around
- 18:37you that think the same as you, but then you're a never really
- 18:40girl, right? Like you want people that are
- 18:42going to challenge you, you're and a lot of times that means
- 18:45that you're going to have to step out of your comfort zone
- 18:46and meet new people. That's important thing about
- 18:49getting those those other rooms and networking.
- 18:51Just you might think you're doing it right here or doing it
- 18:54a certain way, but there's someone in Atlanta and New York
- 18:56and these up Dallas is doing it times 10.
- 18:59You know, just being in here in Oklahoma, just realizing like
- 19:04entrepreneurship isn't as big as it is others places.
- 19:07So whenever I get to these other other scenes and spaces, I'm
- 19:10like, wow, there's there's levels to this.
- 19:12This is why it always gives me the drive to keep on meeting
- 19:15new. I'd say I'm global.
- 19:16I'm not saying I'm local, like I've I've been to Israel and
- 19:20Japan and Canada and Mexico, like I've been all around.
- 19:23So my mindset, I got different downloads from these different
- 19:26cultures. You know, it's not just one way,
- 19:28there's multiple ways. Makes it multifaceted.
- 19:31What was the thing for you as you were travelling abroad or,
- 19:36you know, to any other country that you realize, like, damn,
- 19:39like the US moves this way and this country moves this way, and
- 19:43I liked that more. Or one or the other.
- 19:45Was there a moment or what was that for you?
- 19:47I mean, since a, since a child just watching anime or Bruce
- 19:54Lee, like just kind of overcoming any type of
- 19:57oppression in some type of way 'cause like that was a superhero
- 20:00for him to lock in to be able to like rise above.
- 20:04So just seeing a lot of Eastern civilization culture, should I
- 20:08say, which is always fascinating.
- 20:11Just the philosophies and the mindsets and methodologies and
- 20:14all that stuff is always cool to me.
- 20:16So and then the dream comes true.
- 20:18When I was finally with the Japan, I was just seeing this
- 20:20for myself. Like, Oh my gosh, like it's a
- 20:23whole different, like way of living out.
- 20:25Here. I was like the American ghetto.
- 20:29What time, right? Like, you leave the country and
- 20:31you're like, damn it, So get over there.
- 20:33I saw this really funny reel that was like when you start
- 20:36travelling and you realize that the US is the Fire Nation.
- 20:40Yeah, man, you know, it was like, it was like, damn, that
- 20:43ruined my day. What do you mean we're the Fire
- 20:46Nation? You're right, Yeah.
- 20:47We got some stuff going on. But.
- 20:50I got family members kind of like moving around, like my dad
- 20:53moved the he moved to to Kenya five years ago.
- 20:59He got some land and some gold out there.
- 21:01I'm like, man, he got some opportunities.
- 21:02Yeah, man, yeah. It's going back to like the
- 21:06survival stuff, right. I mean, like that's, that's
- 21:08where it really breeds entrepreneurship.
- 21:10Or I think like like when you're an immigrant too, like that
- 21:14always breeds entrepreneurship like.
- 21:17I did some studies like it. It's like real personality
- 21:20traits where like entrepreneurs come in a new term, but like
- 21:25businesses that's always been going on.
- 21:27Family was like the first business that was the first
- 21:29institution. Like whenever a family got
- 21:31together, they were able to like use their resources.
- 21:34Everyone that's the CFO, that's the marketer, that's the hey,
- 21:38that's the queen. Like it was all be able to and
- 21:40intertwine and work together. But then like when everyone just
- 21:43kind of got on the solo and separation is kind of like
- 21:46things got into the window, but got to have that foundation.
- 21:49Yeah, got to have the foundation.
- 21:51Is that something that you learned as like you saw emulated
- 21:54in your life growing up or something that you started to
- 21:56see and you're trying to emulate yourself?
- 21:59So my grandpa was a pastor earlier on, so I seen him
- 22:03basically just helping grown men get bank accounts, raising their
- 22:07families and just reaching towards God and stuff like that.
- 22:11But outside of the church was what I'm trying to say.
- 22:13I've seen him leading always, so that was always.
- 22:16So I'll just kind of figure out my call and how can I lead?
- 22:19I don't have to follow his path. I can preach in my own way.
- 22:22I can preach through content. I can preach through my
- 22:24lifestyle. Because same thing for the
- 22:26youth. Like the root word of youth is
- 22:28you. YOU.
- 22:29So you got to live by example there watching you.
- 22:32Yeah. So I'm just trying to impact the
- 22:34youth. Yeah, yeah, I want to go back to
- 22:37Japan real quick 'cause you said that was your dream country.
- 22:40I haven't been yet. I've been wanting to go.
- 22:44How long were you there for? I was there for like 3 weeks.
- 22:46Oh, I'm gonna go. There every year.
- 22:48Yeah. Oh.
- 22:49How many times have you gone then so far I.
- 22:50Was just one last year. Oh, you just one last year.
- 22:52Nice one, I'm coming going again this year.
- 22:55Nice. OK, OK.
- 22:56I have some friends invite me, but I'm I'm, I'm, I'm either
- 22:59gonna go with them or I'm gonna go separate.
- 23:00I'm figure out something. Yeah.
- 23:01Have you gone? Have you?
- 23:02Was that a solo trip? A group trip?
- 23:04What would you? Get was for a brand, fashion
- 23:07brand. What?
- 23:08Yes. Wait, so you this was work
- 23:10related you got to go to do. That's even cooler though.
- 23:13I mean, you know what I mean 'cause like.
- 23:15The thing I've been doing is regulated.
- 23:17Like all the travels have been work related.
- 23:19I'm just now starting to live. OK, so you were in the hustle
- 23:24culture for a minute and then now you're like, OK, I see the I
- 23:27see the the fun and like. Try to reword the hustle
- 23:29culture. No, same.
- 23:30That's that's something that we're really focused on.
- 23:33Like we're not glamorizing. Same.
- 23:35Yeah, same. Yeah, used to.
- 23:37We hella used to glamorize. All this stuff now.
- 23:39Facts. Yes, 'cause guys, rest is
- 23:43important. Please take care of yourself,
- 23:45take care of your mind, take care of your body.
- 23:47Stop overworking it. Like no it does.
- 23:50It's not cool to be fucking drinking as as much as I love to
- 23:54drink. Drink all day and then go and
- 23:55get a fucking workout in. Why are you killing your body
- 23:57that way? Stop doing that.
- 24:00Listen to it. That's not cool.
- 24:02Even though I've done it, I've been there.
- 24:05That's what I'm saying. It's not cool.
- 24:06It might be like a season or something like that, that you
- 24:09possibly have to do it, but like just the whole time, forever,
- 24:13just beating your body down, you you shunning people away.
- 24:16And it's like, yeah, it's kind of, it's not that good.
- 24:19You know, you want to have a, you want to have a community, a
- 24:22tribe, because like eventually that tribe's going to tell you,
- 24:25hey, you're not thinking right, you're not doing that right, or
- 24:28you're beat up and they're going to care for you until you need
- 24:30your rest versus you by yourself is like, oh, just go, go, go,
- 24:34go, go, go. And then you might make a bad
- 24:35decision and lose it all. Yeah, I think that goes back to
- 24:38the even to a bit some of the click stuff, right, like
- 24:42choosing who is in your tribe. Like is it people who only think
- 24:45like you? And to some degree, I mean, like
- 24:48when I say that I think like I love to be around people who
- 24:51have growth mindset who are always going to challenge me.
- 24:54And like to some degree we have the same values at least, or the
- 24:58same. Yeah, I would say they are like,
- 25:03yeah, same values. That's where we start.
- 25:05And definitely like having a growth mindset.
- 25:06But they might give me a different perspective on one
- 25:10other thing or a different season of life that we're
- 25:12working in, like for a while. Like I have a really good friend
- 25:15who I was telling I was on a rant one time with her about
- 25:19like this whole feminine and masculine energy and, and like
- 25:23this idea of like, oh, that's so feminine, That's so masculine.
- 25:26And I was like really annoyed by it.
- 25:28And I was like, I'm so tired of hearing this.
- 25:29And then she was like, I'm a single mom.
- 25:31I'm now recognizing how that's important and being able to, I'm
- 25:35trying to think of like, how can I make sure that my son does
- 25:38have masculine energy? And what does that look like?
- 25:41And I was like, huh, I never thought of it that way, which
- 25:44prompted me to then like go and start reading about like books
- 25:47around that and like the whole patriarchy, but in a different
- 25:50way. You know, we hear that term and
- 25:52then we think negative in terms of like, I don't want to hear
- 25:56this shit, but more of like, it is a little negative, but like
- 25:59more of like, you just shut it down.
- 26:01You don't want to hear it versus like diving deep into it and
- 26:04trying to like unravel it. I went on a tangent, but what
- 26:08I'm trying to say is like, it is.
- 26:09So like, yes, finding your tribe, building your community
- 26:13is important, but who is in it in terms of like the way that
- 26:16they're going to challenge you to think and challenge you to
- 26:20push yourself out of your comfort?
- 26:23That's important versus someone who's always like, hey, this
- 26:26looks great and always is like a yes ma'am right one.
- 26:30Of my mentors, like told me like to find someone on your level,
- 26:34someone below you and someone above you.
- 26:36That way you can kind of know where you're reaching to.
- 26:38And then someone who's on the same level as you use iron,
- 26:41sharpens iron. It's like, OK, they didn't skip
- 26:43a day. I'm not going to skip a day.
- 26:44Or they're at this right here, I'm going to be right there.
- 26:46It's like, OK, they're making 20 KMI, want to make 20.
- 26:49It's helping you out. And then we're trying to get to
- 26:50the next level to where our mentor is AT.
- 26:52And it's like understanding who has knowledge, wisdom and
- 26:56understanding. Because some people can have the
- 26:58knowledge and study all the masculine and feminine, but how
- 27:01they put it into practice? Right.
- 27:02Yeah, yeah, yeah. How?
- 27:03Do they understand that there's a a mix and balance between We
- 27:06got them both. It's not just you're all
- 27:09masculine or depending on what season you're in, you might be
- 27:12single mother and you might have to be more masculine at the
- 27:14time. So it was like rah rah, rah rah
- 27:17and just like, OK, I want them on feminine, but you're in this
- 27:19space of masculine right now. So it's kind of hard for you to
- 27:22receive the soft place when you're acting as is.
- 27:25Not speaking on your friend, I'm just.
- 27:26Saying no, yeah, no, that's yeah.
- 27:29Like I think like I relate to what you're saying there too.
- 27:31And, and like, I've been in therapy for years because I and
- 27:35I plan to be in therapy for years because I want to continue
- 27:38to be like, why do I think that way?
- 27:41I push that. I push the therapy.
- 27:42Yeah. And I, I do think that there is
- 27:45a difference between like, whether or not like, you know,
- 27:48you've been in your safe space forever and you're not
- 27:51triggered. So of course it's great.
- 27:52But then you get out of your space and you're in other
- 27:55spaces, whether that's in dating or whatever it is that you're
- 27:57doing. But usually it's dating as one
- 27:59of the things that's going to trigger you.
- 28:03Are you going to run or are you going to put the things that you
- 28:05learned into practice? No, that's good.
- 28:07That's good. They don't say knowledge is
- 28:10power. The application of knowledge is
- 28:13the power. Yeah, yeah.
- 28:16And then, you know, you become too self aware and it just kills
- 28:18a vibe. Just fucking kills a vibe.
- 28:20You know you're like I have, I'm a.
- 28:22Virgo too. So like you're a Virgo found?
- 28:24Myself over thinking. So when's your birthday?
- 28:26September 3rd. I'm August 30th.
- 28:29Oh, so we're close. We're close, yes.
- 28:31I don't know the difference between the end of them, you
- 28:34know, but I know we're close. I know there is a difference.
- 28:38Yeah, there is. There is a difference because my
- 28:39I have two cousins who are brothers actually that are
- 28:43September 2nd and September 6th. OK, something like that.
- 28:49I got some cousins like that too, like 1's on my birthday and
- 28:52the one's the day before. Like, oh really?
- 28:55Me and my older sister too. My older sister, Betta, she's
- 28:59October 2nd, I'm October 1st. Yeah, yeah.
- 29:02Interesting. I know.
- 29:04Our parents were planning something around that time.
- 29:06Yeah, yeah, they're real busy. I'm a Libra, so yeah, but what
- 29:14something else? So I said let's go back to
- 29:16Japan. The other thing I really wanted
- 29:18to ask, you said that you were there, a lot of your travels
- 29:21were because you started to or a lot of your travels were work
- 29:25related. I've noticed that that's
- 29:27something. I've noticed that on your
- 29:30content, what you're doing is like you're with us.
- 29:32The mindset shift of like, I'm not just a business zone or you
- 29:37know, it's like I'm thinking like ACEO, what got you there to
- 29:41be able to do these international trips for work?
- 29:43So just the understanding, I guess the results that I'm
- 29:48providing. So sometimes, well, not even
- 29:50sometimes as a videographer, you're just selling videos and
- 29:53content, but as a media partner, I'm, I'm selling strategies, I'm
- 29:58selling outcomes. So it's like this strategy, this
- 30:01outcome, we're trying to get more leads, We're trying to get
- 30:03these leads into warm leads or we're trying to get these leads
- 30:07into book calls or we're trying to actually, actually have
- 30:10clients to buy or bring in traffic, you know, depending on
- 30:13whatever the product or the service is.
- 30:15The marketing panel. Yeah, I'm coming at a different
- 30:17angle now instead of the whole I just, I got a camera.
- 30:20And then you when you'd work with, I mean when you're working
- 30:23with just the videographer, they're just pop up shoot and
- 30:26they're just shooting. But when the strategist is like,
- 30:28OK, what's the end goal of this? Not just we're coming to shoot,
- 30:32you know, we're kind of thinking more planning more shooting is
- 30:35more inclusive is, is more. But once I learned that, hey,
- 30:38I'm, I'm blowing OK, you ask a question.
- 30:41Once I learned I'm blowing brands up, that's what it was is
- 30:43like, oh, I need to be kind of changing my, my angle because
- 30:49I'm, I'm blowing the brand up. For example, an artist or
- 30:52personal brand or a shop with closer like just any type of
- 30:57brand, once they come work and get the the quality of client, I
- 31:01mean good quality of work, their work.
- 31:04It just shows like, okay, they're investing into their
- 31:06content. They're and it gives a different
- 31:08position and signals to whoever is watching to you that I need
- 31:13to, I need to take time and look at this.
- 31:14This is serious. Like it's a whole different
- 31:16signaling. Just whenever you work with
- 31:19someone more serious, yeah. Yeah, Roger was kind of alluding
- 31:22to this a little bit when he was telling us about with UGK.
- 31:26He was telling us about being able to work with like,
- 31:29restaurants who had really big budgets, who invested in the
- 31:32atmosphere but did not want to invest in their human capital.
- 31:35They were like, you know what I mean?
- 31:37And so like, going back to what you're saying is like, you're
- 31:39investing in the strategy, not just in the product itself.
- 31:44Does that make sense? You didn't go back on that.
- 31:47So actually, actually, when you learn that all these cool
- 31:51projects don't pay, there we go. There we let me get more bored.
- 31:57Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So I learned that the cool
- 31:59projects don't pay as much and they're not sustainable.
- 32:02Now I'm more, I'm getting older, I'm going to be able to have
- 32:05predictability. And I've seen that me providing
- 32:09the strategy and me being the solution to your problem.
- 32:14That's how entrepreneurs get paid is you find out you're the
- 32:16solution to people's problems. Yeah, an entrepreneur is just
- 32:19someone who gets paid to solve problems.
- 32:22Being just a videographer wasn't solving it anymore.
- 32:25I had to take the time and go learn marketing strategies.
- 32:28I had to go see what other workers for other brands.
- 32:30I had to go see just how to stay consistent.
- 32:32And then I had to go practice what I preach.
- 32:35I'm teaching people how to do all this other stuff, but then
- 32:37they're not seeing me doing it. So then when I saw I started
- 32:39doing it, it just that was just changing.
- 32:41I just started doing content on myself in 2024.
- 32:46Well, it's really tentative. I started doing content on
- 32:49myself December. Remember. 20.
- 32:52Four. Yeah, yeah.
- 32:53OK. Yeah.
- 32:54Was that also something out of your comfort zone?
- 32:56You know, at first that you were like, oh, man, you know, you
- 32:58were behind the camera forever and now you're going on camera.
- 33:01What was that kind of like turn for you?
- 33:04I was AI was a big shift because you're flying on the wall.
- 33:08You're used to being behind the scenes, but now you got to have
- 33:10a real conversation and really build with people.
- 33:13It's not just, oh, let me hide behind the good looking work.
- 33:17It's like, let me get this work to the right person or let me
- 33:20talk to the right person. It's more of a it just changed a
- 33:24lot. It just changed a lot just from
- 33:26all right, I'm, I'm hiding and it's like, OK, now that's just a
- 33:30tool. You need to leave the tool back
- 33:32there and figure out who needs the tool and give it out.
- 33:35Yeah, yeah. What was like maybe your first
- 33:40creative project, whether that was in childhood that kind of
- 33:44started to like spark the whole, I love storytelling and I want
- 33:47to convert storytelling into, you know, like what was what was
- 33:50that that started to like get into your creative?
- 33:53It's cool that you said storytelling, because humans, we
- 33:56just we, we, we theme for connection, we theme for
- 33:59stories. And before cameras and TV's and
- 34:03radio, it was, it was storytelling, yeah.
- 34:05We would sit in front of the fire and we would tell a story
- 34:07just no matter what tribe you're going to tell a story to pass
- 34:11those stories along. And the same thing like when it
- 34:14got to The Cave, they would write it.
- 34:16They would write the story on The Cave.
- 34:17And then when they got towns, they would tell stories on the,
- 34:20on the, the pedestal or whatever platform they're in and they
- 34:24would tell their story. But.
- 34:26Music. Everything.
- 34:27Yes, beginning of my my storytelling would be beginning
- 34:30with my grandfather again. He's a pastor, so I was
- 34:33recording him on the boom camera in the back.
- 34:35I remember him taking me to Garage Center to right now.
- 34:38I can remember this today. He walked through, picked up the
- 34:40camera, got it and then at church I was recording him every
- 34:43Sunday and then. How old were you it?
- 34:45Was first grade, whatever age that is, yeah.
- 34:49And then when I got to high school yearbook, but I played
- 34:52football, basketball, track, golf, tennis, so I really
- 34:55couldn't capture myself because I was in the game, you know?
- 34:58And then freshman year, I don't know, but that's when I just
- 35:03borrowed a camera from my mom because she had a camera for
- 35:05some reason. I even found a photo of my dad
- 35:07having a camera. My grandma had a camera.
- 35:09Everyone had cameras. Yeah, yeah.
- 35:11But the big ones too are the camcorders that yeah, my dad has
- 35:14a camera just like that in the world.
- 35:16But I was like. It's destined it.
- 35:18Was yeah, that's what I wanted to ask.
- 35:20I was like, what led you into, you know, getting a camera and
- 35:25doing that so it runs in the family?
- 35:26They had to. I don't even know what made me
- 35:29go to my mom. I didn't even speak to her at
- 35:32the time. Well, not like that.
- 35:33But I wasn't, I was in college. Like, hey, do you got a camera?
- 35:36She's like, yeah, I do got a camera.
- 35:37I was like, let me use that camera.
- 35:39I took that camera. I went to some college party.
- 35:41And then like everyone needed photos that day.
- 35:44I'm like, they need these photos.
- 35:46Like, is it that serious? And it was, it was like a
- 35:48college Greek, Greek sorority fraternity party.
- 35:52So every sorority fraternity, they need their photos.
- 35:55And then I just, that was like a little sparkle, OK, all these
- 35:58people are asking for my number or my e-mail, like I got
- 36:02something here and I'm just a freshman in college.
- 36:04I'm like, I'm just got, I got something, I don't know what it
- 36:06is. And then it was another time,
- 36:08like a week after that, around this time right now, spring
- 36:10break. Yeah, I had everyone was on the
- 36:15beast at photos, same thing. And they said, hey, what's your
- 36:17Instagram? What's your, I don't know, like
- 36:19trade ductions. This is why I came up random on
- 36:21the spot. And it's like, well, you're the
- 36:23photographer, send us the thing. We'll send you the money.
- 36:25I'm like, I'm just on the beach. Like I'm from Oklahoma.
- 36:27Like, you know what? I'm like what is going on right?
- 36:30Now you're like, listen man, I'm just trying to take my tequila
- 36:33sunrise over here. I feel like maybe I should take
- 36:36serious so. Well, that's, that's been The
- 36:39thing is I keep treating well, I was treated as a hobby.
- 36:42I wasn't trying to make it serious.
- 36:43I didn't want to like ruin relationships and stuff like
- 36:45that. But then eventually just like I
- 36:49got a whole college degree and I got all this other stuff.
- 36:51So when you're trying to don't have a job, all this other stuff
- 36:54is like, OK, let me lean on what's been working for the last
- 36:567-8 at the time, 7-8 years. Let me just lean into on this.
- 37:00So yeah, I lean into it. I spent like 5000 on mentorship
- 37:05pay. The guy, he taught me the, the
- 37:07retainer, main retainer framework.
- 37:11I I made my money back. A year goes by, I see him in the
- 37:15vest fest and I was thinking about it at the conferences.
- 37:17I see him in the vest fest. My camera's in my backpack.
- 37:19I'm going around talking. Yeah, he's like, hey, how's it
- 37:22going? Well, I'm like, yeah, things
- 37:23going good. And then he's like, oh, so so
- 37:26have you hit the 2020 thirty K months in?
- 37:28I'm like, no, not yet talking about that.
- 37:31And then he said, So what are you doing here?
- 37:32I'm oh, just getting content. He's like getting content.
- 37:35Your camera's in your backpack. Oh, called you out?
- 37:38I was like this person. And I was like, yeah, yeah,
- 37:42you're right, You're right. Right now take your camera out
- 37:45your backpack. Go ask 10 to 15 people.
- 37:47Do you have content? What can I do for you?
- 37:49Shoot them right now. And if you go on my page, look
- 37:52at 2024, I'll be shooting other entrepreneurs.
- 37:55But I was seeing like, OK, this is, this is easy.
- 37:57Just pull out the camera, record that person, have the audio and
- 38:00that's it. Like that's a real.
- 38:02Yeah, you're thinking too hard about this stuff.
- 38:04Like everything that you're talking about, it could be
- 38:06valuable to someone that's below you or above you.
- 38:09Maybe that's mental thing about it's either having questions or
- 38:12you're trying to get to those questions.
- 38:13So you're trying to document the process as long as as long as
- 38:16you go. So yeah, seeing him there
- 38:20started documenting other people.
- 38:22And that right there was like, that was my first like shift
- 38:25break of imposter syndrome. Like I'm watching all these
- 38:28people on YouTube. I'm watching all I'm studying
- 38:30their contents and I'm meeting shake hands.
- 38:32And it's like the next thing was like, what's next?
- 38:34And this is it was like, OK, you got to build something, you got
- 38:38to build some type of community. Because if you're not building,
- 38:40like what are you doing? You know, if you're not like you
- 38:42guys are building episode episode, If you're not doing
- 38:45building some type of ways, like what are you doing?
- 38:47Because you got to you got to be either consuming or you're
- 38:50creating. That's it.
- 38:52So right now I'm just like, alright, I got to keep creating,
- 38:55but I got to create the the tribe, I got to create the
- 38:58community, I got to create the like minded people that I also
- 39:01got to create assistance. I got to create.
- 39:03SO PS because I'm, I'm evolving from a solopreneur from an
- 39:07entrepreneur to a businessman to an investor, A solopreneur,
- 39:11you're doing everything by yourself.
- 39:12You don't have any help entrepreneur.
- 39:15You're still buying things high for high, low, but you have some
- 39:17systems, a businessman, you can step away from your business for
- 39:20seven days and it still functions without you.
- 39:23And an investor, Yeah, you just invested into another CEO who
- 39:26has the plans, who has strategies.
- 39:28And it's just, hey, show me the return of investment.
- 39:30Am I going to make 15%, Twenty percent, 30%?
- 39:33All right, cool. Here's the money.
- 39:34You know, eventually that's the goal is to get to that point.
- 39:37But a lot of people get stuck in the solopreneur just having a
- 39:41job for themselves. And that's where I was at was I
- 39:44had a videographer job. I, I was stuck in that trap.
- 39:49I'm just working for myself. The hustle, the hustle, Cutler,
- 39:51I was stuck in that I couldn't figure out if I work harder, am
- 39:56I going to make more money? And that that was not, that's
- 39:58not, that's not it. If you work harder, you don't
- 40:00make more. Money.
- 40:00No. Capitalism doesn't work that
- 40:02way. Unfortunately, as much as I
- 40:05preach it, it's not true. Yeah, it's not true.
- 40:07America's ghetto. Yeah, you have to work.
- 40:10Smarter. You have to work in systems.
- 40:12You have to figure out, OK, like for me, it was learning who's my
- 40:17target audience. I was a journalist.
- 40:19I was shopping at everyone. Now I had to be a specialist.
- 40:22Like, whenever you're hiring a wedding photographer, you want
- 40:25to make sure this guy shot weddings before you want to make
- 40:27sure they've done all this. If they if you see music videos
- 40:29on his pages, like I don't know, he might.
- 40:31He can capture capture really good stuff, but I want some.
- 40:34Direction, I want to make sure, you know, I want to make sure
- 40:36it's the specialist. Same thing like a brain surgeon.
- 40:38I don't want to work with the the nurse.
- 40:40Give me the brain surgeon. He works exactly on brains.
- 40:44So that's how well my, my job in position came was just me
- 40:47working as a general videographer.
- 40:49I would get general jobs and get, you know, just this.
- 40:52But now I'm like, OK, right now I work with strictly businesses,
- 40:56brands and entrepreneurs. I work with service based
- 40:58businesses. I'm working with people who have
- 41:00a high ticket offer. So whenever I get you just one
- 41:03sale, you could you could afford my services.
- 41:06Yeah. So when I'm coming at you and
- 41:08telling you, hey, pay $3000, it's not like, oh, it's, it's
- 41:11out of the world. It's like now I can get you
- 41:14another customer. Yeah, it's worth it.
- 41:17It's an. Investment and now that now
- 41:20they're seeing the investment, they're seeing the return.
- 41:23We, I think like even on the pod, we've been trying to like
- 41:26figure out like the whole consumer versus like building
- 41:30the community versus building the rest of the brand versus
- 41:32building like the, the people, the stage, the stuff that we're
- 41:36trying to bring and cultivate. I love to ask this question to
- 41:40like other creatives that are here who do things like this or
- 41:43other strategists who come on with us, What could we do
- 41:46better? I love to put them on the spot.
- 41:53And also you will not hurt our feelings.
- 41:56We have very thick skin. Now, I did try to think of this
- 42:00question before. Yeah, 'cause I sent it to you,
- 42:03yes. I don't have.
- 42:05Any No. It's the OneNote that you got
- 42:08for me. It was the only note, yeah, I
- 42:10didn't give him anything else. Yeah, seriously, I've been
- 42:13trying to think of something. Yeah.
- 42:14Like I, I even try to, you know, iron sharpens iron and still
- 42:18think of something, but I really can't think about it like.
- 42:20The word just perfect. Yeah.
- 42:21No, I was not. Yeah, you guys.
- 42:23Yeah. You guys are perfect.
- 42:26We do all right. I don't, I'm seriously, I'm, I,
- 42:28I want to see people do better. And I'm seriously trying to out
- 42:31of the kind of my I'm trying to think of something.
- 42:33Yeah. And I don't think of nothing,
- 42:34OK. I would just say I'll talk
- 42:35after. I would.
- 42:37No, no, I mean in case you, in case you think more, you know
- 42:39what I mean? Like, as in like, you know, over
- 42:42time and then even when the episode comes out and then
- 42:44you're like, this is what you could do better.
- 42:47And then and then we'll be able to record that.
- 42:50You know what I mean, 'cause we got to, we got to like run it
- 42:52back. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 42:53Stay tuned guys. Yeah, but I'm seriously, I think
- 42:56you guys are doing a good job just from before this.
- 43:00The energy before, just from walking in the energy was good.
- 43:05From currently right now, you guys are not paying me to say
- 43:08this. I feel like you guys are doing a
- 43:10good job. Yeah, we paid him.
- 43:11We we paid him in drinks, Yeah. From our petty cash fund.
- 43:17Everywhere. Petty cash.
- 43:22Oh. My God, I love this.
- 43:28Yeah, Yeah. No, no.
- 43:30We gave him what? There's a script.
- 43:31There's a there's a script being.
- 43:33And it's invisible. It's at the top.
- 43:35You can't see this, but there's a script here.
- 43:38And it's like Trey speaks. Audience laughs.
- 43:43Trey gets soft and philosophical.
- 43:46Trey, lower your voice. Yeah.
- 43:48Trey, get loud. Yeah, yeah.
- 43:50Now do a flip. That's God, right?
- 43:52There, Yeah, yeah. And then there's one behind him
- 43:57for us. Yeah.
- 43:58Yeah. So, yeah, there's, there's Corey
- 44:01is here. The people just don't know that
- 44:03Corey's here. Corey's telling us what to do
- 44:05throughout this whole thing. We have a digital media system.
- 44:08That's Corey. Yeah, So, yeah, Corey's here.
- 44:13He's doing this all behind the scenes.
- 44:15You didn't know guys, but something that I think like, you
- 44:18know, even as a creative, you have to build like a portfolio.
- 44:24Tell me about what I I love the reels 'cause I also have to have
- 44:28a portfolio and, you know, you make some cool stuff and then
- 44:31you're like, you want to see My Portfolio and then like it goes
- 44:34to a blank canvas. Me too.
- 44:37Did you ever feel like, what was it like for you to build your
- 44:41portfolio? I struggle with a lot of
- 44:44imposter syndrome when I have to write about myself.
- 44:46I feel like I can talk and write about people all the time or
- 44:50write about a product or write about others.
- 44:52I can do that. When it comes to me, I'm like,
- 44:55oh fuck, I am. I go into existential crisis
- 44:58mode. I'm like, what am I doing?
- 44:59I don't know if I'm doing anything right, You know?
- 45:02I don't know. Did you feel that way?
- 45:04How's that for you as you were building your portfolio from?
- 45:06The first time it's a switch now because currently right now I
- 45:10see content as a way to build trust at scale and to signal and
- 45:17position you in front of your target audience.
- 45:20That's how I view how I view content currently right now.
- 45:24At first it was cool projects and just do the random here's
- 45:29and there. But now content is a transaction
- 45:32for attention. So what you do with that
- 45:34attention is up to you. You can build a e-mail list.
- 45:38You can use that e-mail list to sell a product.
- 45:42You can build up a big viewing a following and then have a
- 45:47subscription. You can there's so many
- 45:49different things that you can do with the content, but it's just
- 45:52a transaction for attention. But what you do with that
- 45:55attention is up to you. So now I'm like, OK, they want
- 45:58to see me on the camera or they just no, not, not even they want
- 46:01to see me on the camera. That's just hiding behind the
- 46:04camera. Or what you were saying like you
- 46:06were trying to practice what you preach.
- 46:07Yes, you had to. How are you going to tell people
- 46:09to do this stuff and then you're not doing it yourself?
- 46:12Yeah. So building the trust at scale,
- 46:14yeah, is whenever you post anything, even if you write
- 46:18about yourself, it's a carousel over surreal.
- 46:22You're building trust. That's all it is.
- 46:23So now content can get into rooms that you can't even get
- 46:27into. Content can be sent to somebody
- 46:30that you didn't even have won't even have a conversation with or
- 46:33didn't even plan to or think you could have a conversation.
- 46:37But just because you recorded it because you're a human being and
- 46:40not human doing just be you. And that's the content that's
- 46:45going to magnetic and connect to whoever's supposed to connect
- 46:48with you versus just doing stuff, the trends, doing
- 46:52whatever is popular online. Yeah, and you just attracting
- 46:55randoms rather you rather, if you got 100 views, I'd rather
- 46:59have 100 views. That was my target audience
- 47:02versus 1,000,000 views with no one who doesn't care nothing
- 47:04about me. That's that's true.
- 47:06Like I think it is so easy to, you know, do the trend to do
- 47:10the, the trending audio to do the thing that is like that's
- 47:14going to get me the views. How do you switch from that
- 47:16though? You've you've talked about this
- 47:18a lot on, on a lot of your content.
- 47:20You preach this as like your digital strategy too, of like
- 47:24how do you help people like realize that like, you know,
- 47:28anyone who's trying to build content or build their own
- 47:30business around that or just tell their story.
- 47:33Stop looking at the vanity stuff.
- 47:36How do we how do we do that? So because it's our ego too.
- 47:39Yeah, it is. It is.
- 47:40I try to change the perspective. So if you just think about maybe
- 47:44say if you got 50 views, think about 50 people punching you.
- 47:49Oh. 50 people beating you up, just change the perspective of
- 47:57how many people it actually is and and we're like what it is.
- 48:03Yeah, that definitely echoes the just kind of the same thing, our
- 48:07friend Miguel said. Imagine 50 people in this room.
- 48:10Yes, yes, but it's mainly just trying to pay the long term game
- 48:15because the the anything get rich quick, you know.
- 48:20Yeah, but just I try to position it as, all right, even if you
- 48:25did get 100 viewers, those are the people that you're trying to
- 48:28talk to and they understand where you are in your in your
- 48:32journey and your authority into that.
- 48:34So now one of these other people come in late, it's like, OK,
- 48:37they have more stuff to educate themselves on and like learn
- 48:40about you and your brand. So it's just they're late.
- 48:43That's it. Yeah, yeah.
- 48:44Because one viral video now that a that a million people that
- 48:48from that viral they're going to go, oh, what else does he sell?
- 48:51What else does he have? And they go back and you might
- 48:53get a boost of 50 to 100 more views to your stuff and then
- 48:56keep on repeating the process. But it's a long term game.
- 48:59People are kind of instant gratification, you know, pop
- 49:02culture there when they want stuff so fast.
- 49:05But literally Jordan didn't get a ring until Season 7.
- 49:09Think about being the best player in the NBA and scoring
- 49:123040 fifty points a game and not getting the ring.
- 49:17He had to change his perspective.
- 49:19It took another coach, Phil Jackson had to come in on Year 7
- 49:23and look from a different perspective and say, hey,
- 49:26Michael, we got this triangle offense.
- 49:29You got a pass here, you got a rebound down there.
- 49:31Stop trying to shoot it all yourself.
- 49:33Have a team you so you could be a star, but it takes for you to
- 49:38be a superstar. You got to be around other
- 49:40stars. You can't be a start.
- 49:41You could be a star by yourself or and you're around other
- 49:43people. That's a superstar, and then you
- 49:45got a mega star and then you got a whole conglomerate like it's
- 49:50everybody's position is important.
- 49:51The waterboy, the the GM, the tower boy, the the 15th person
- 49:56on a player to team. Everyone's position is
- 49:59important. When you start to think in
- 50:00systems, when you start to see the grander experience and not
- 50:04just seeing the solo version of you, like, Simply put, when
- 50:10you're going down the Chipotle experience and you're going to
- 50:13get your own food in the Chipotle line.
- 50:14Chipotle is a perfect I I UX design.
- 50:18I love that stuff. So that's why I'm like, that's
- 50:20how I, I tried to explain to people, because it's like, OK,
- 50:23you walk into Chipotle, you see a line of people already, you
- 50:28see who's already there, you see who's eating.
- 50:30And then you can, once you get to ordering you, you actually
- 50:33even see who's cooking in the back, who's refilling, who's
- 50:35coming around, who's doing the online orders, and then you're
- 50:40seeing that whole system taking place.
- 50:41It's not as simple as just the transactional stuff.
- 50:44And you have to as a consumer and also the person working
- 50:47there, you need to start to see the systems in your life to help
- 50:52change that perspective. Also, I want to just say real
- 50:55quick that when you said the mega superstars, you pointed at
- 50:58me. Yeah, mega *.
- 51:02Mega star just to say yeah. No, I know a star knows a *.
- 51:05A star knows a star. A mega star knows a mega star.
- 51:09Let's get it back. Let's let's get it right.
- 51:10Let's get. It right a mega.
- 51:11Star. That's true.
- 51:13That's true. Yeah.
- 51:14No, I had to, I would say with those systems just regulating my
- 51:18own systems, stocks kind of help me with that like doing day
- 51:21trading and stuff because I had to.
- 51:24I wasn't getting the outcome that I wanted to get.
- 51:26So mentors is definitely telling you just journal your emotions
- 51:30and I had I journaled too many times like I'm seeing greedy
- 51:33greedy. Greedy.
- 51:34Did you journal? Did you journal?
- 51:36I am mad today. Sad face.
- 51:39No, not like that, OK. Not like that, but I.
- 51:42Greedy. I had, I, well, I wrote down I
- 51:43was greedy in the in the, in the situation, Yeah.
- 51:46Because I, I seen my target. Yeah, but I didn't pull out the
- 51:49money. Yeah, yeah.
- 51:52Oh shit, what a way to call yourself out there, you know
- 51:55what I mean? Well, I didn't know that until I
- 51:57wrote it down and I'm seeing it multiple times.
- 51:59I'm like, oh, you're greedy. Yeah, so it's like, you greedy
- 52:03motherfucker. Yeah.
- 52:07And you're like, let's stop doing that.
- 52:09Yeah. So what you do?
- 52:11Just put new rules in for myself.
- 52:13So a system kind of helps you get predictability and I just
- 52:17kind of got tired of just going Willy nilly just doing anything.
- 52:20So anytime I start building the systems, I can kind of change
- 52:24the, the outcome. So I changed I actually for
- 52:28trading for the example, I just had to have a rule.
- 52:31Just, I made 4 rules for myself. Follow these rules, wrote them
- 52:34on my paper, put them on my laptop, put them on my, my
- 52:36desktop computer. And if you don't see these 4
- 52:39rules, you can't take a trade because I had to learn myself.
- 52:43OK, you're this type of person, you're this way.
- 52:45So don't do those things and follow these rules, because that
- 52:49applies for you. Yeah, yeah.
- 52:52Yeah, try to be disciplined because I know how I am.
- 52:54I know how I get. Yeah, discipline's hard.
- 52:56Yeah, it is. Yeah.
- 52:57Discipline's doing what you don't want to do, and being a
- 53:00spoiled brat is doing anything. Talk to my little baby.
- 53:03Oh, I want to be a spoiled brat. You know what I mean?
- 53:08Yeah, Yeah. Like ignorance is bliss.
- 53:11Yeah, I'm like, I see. I'm seeing you like to play.
- 53:15Yeah, I do. Yes.
- 53:17Nothing. Wrong with playing though, you
- 53:19got to lighten up the mood. Yeah, we have to.
- 53:21We have to. Serious and all the other.
- 53:23Things, Yeah. Life is serious.
- 53:25We can be serious, but we need whimsy.
- 53:29We need whimsy, yeah. Need a healthy medium?
- 53:32Yeah, you got that. Yeah, you got that.
- 53:34Yeah, I hate. And I'm a whimsical person.
- 53:37Yes, yes, That is my laugh. That is how I laugh.
- 53:41That. Yeah.
- 53:44You recorded that? Yeah, that's no, no, no.
- 53:47He has a soundboard. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 53:49Oh, sorry, sarcasm. Yes, I did.
- 53:52That is in my laugh. You guys.
- 53:54I think I did that well. Plugged in there.
- 53:56Didn't do that well, I did. I'm really good at this.
- 54:00Whatever I'm trying to stream and tell to do my buttons, it's
- 54:02funny. Yes, yes, I think we, I think we
- 54:06were mesmerized by your voice and we stopped looking at the
- 54:09buttons. That's what happened.
- 54:12There was a lot. Don't worry though, when we post
- 54:15the reels we'll add the sounds that's.
- 54:17A talent right there, the man. What you doing too?
- 54:19Because it's tough. Yeah.
- 54:27Is a lot. Yeah.
- 54:29Yeah, that's the SpongeBob cussing, right?
- 54:30There, yeah. Are you a?
- 54:31SpongeBob fan. I mean, SpongeBob.
- 54:33I was starting in Oklahoma I feel like.
- 54:35It was. I feel like yeah.
- 54:36You feel like I know. You know, creator the original
- 54:39storymaker from Oklahoma. Really.
- 54:41Yeah, I'm gonna look that up a little quick look at a few.
- 54:45Yeah, what? I didn't know that.
- 54:47Check it. Out.
- 54:48I feel like no, I feel like yeah, he got to be from here.
- 54:51Yeah, because he's kind of weird.
- 54:52Not he, not because he's weird, but just.
- 54:54That's what I heard. Oh.
- 54:55That's what you heard. Oh, I seen, I seen that.
- 54:57Yeah, yeah. I mean, everything we hear on
- 54:59the Internet is real, no? No, no, no, I, I especially me
- 55:03being into like the Internet and media and propaganda, like I
- 55:07don't believe nothing. Yeah.
- 55:09Not like if it comes by my like, I'm not going to believe it.
- 55:12Yeah, they got a Google study that says you got to spend 7
- 55:15hours on your, your audience or your, your target audience right
- 55:19now. Like before you even press buy,
- 55:21just spend 7 hours, 11 different touch points and four different
- 55:24platforms. Google study.
- 55:27Because everything's fake these days, you know, like just
- 55:30there's a copycat, there's a new mentor, there's a new whoever,
- 55:34what some someone's selling you some type of dream.
- 55:36It's just it's hard to believe we're in a we're in a trust
- 55:40recession. We're in a trust recession,
- 55:42literally. Oh my God.
- 55:43Well with AI too. Wait, so.
- 55:45So what was he? Was he a creator?
- 55:47You still haven't found it yet. I'm diving a little bit deeper.
- 55:52We can't trust Dee again. We're in a trust.
- 55:55We're in a trust issue. Yeah, we're we're in a trust
- 55:59issue right now. It's.
- 56:00Somewhere in this? Thing Trey just doesn't give us
- 56:03very trusting vibes, you know what I mean?
- 56:05Trust. Me like.
- 56:07Trust me. No, but yeah, I love SpongeBob.
- 56:13He's so fun. Yeah, OK.
- 56:15So yeah, he was born in Oklahoma.
- 56:18She has something. Yeah, something Oklahoma people
- 56:22born crazy. Like he became a marine
- 56:24biologist and animator and resided in California.
- 56:28OK, what an old life, I guess. Yeah.
- 56:30What an interesting life. Some people got roots and ties
- 56:33to Oklahoma. There we.
- 56:34Go. That's.
- 56:34Snoop Dogg, too. There's a whole bunch of.
- 56:36Snoop Dogg's from Oklahoma. Not from Oklahoma born, but he
- 56:40may have been born. What like look, look at that
- 56:43one. I don't know exactly.
- 56:46But you're like all my other like the people who I love.
- 56:49Who else? Who?
- 56:50Else yeah, I'm not born in Oklahoma.
- 56:52You're you were born. In I was raised in Oklahoma,
- 56:55like the second, third grade, second.
- 56:57Where were you born in Wisconsin?
- 56:59Wisconsin. OK What?
- 57:00What family? Family.
- 57:02Yeah, it's family, just they were back and forth.
- 57:04Yeah, gotcha. So you were saying this earlier
- 57:07too, Like let's talk a little bit about Oklahoma City.
- 57:09You were saying how networking is a little hard.
- 57:13I'm curious about the creative scene in Oklahoma and what
- 57:15you're trying to bring too. So I'm a radical thinker and I
- 57:18hate if I just jump straight to the point, but a lot of people
- 57:22are in survival mode, so they're in survival mode thinking.
- 57:26So whenever they're doing business, it's throughout
- 57:29survival mode as well. So now when I'm even doing
- 57:32business with someone, I have to even check if you're in survival
- 57:35mode or flow mode before we even get to doing business.
- 57:38So just like dating, you got a date before you marry.
- 57:41So you got a date before you start doing business.
- 57:43So a few times before we even do any business things, we're going
- 57:46to date a little bit. See how you are, see how you act
- 57:49under pressure, just same thing, you know, and then we might get
- 57:52into a short term agreement. See how that short term
- 57:55agreement if the proceeds went out good and then we're doing.
- 57:58A trust. Recession, but I had these are
- 58:02just my system now, just because you know when you get burnt,
- 58:05same thing in a relationship, you might get burnt.
- 58:08He's like, man, I got to make sure he really say what he's
- 58:10doing because he might got a whole family out there, whole
- 58:13kids. And that's true.
- 58:15Like, don't you said? Yeah.
- 58:17Yeah, I might. Have some stuff going on so.
- 58:19Just kind of got. To fill them out, see how it is.
- 58:22And then well, me getting out of survival mode, I can say that
- 58:26now and I can, I can move that way.
- 58:27But whenever I'm in survival mode, when you're a
- 58:30videographer, you going to take $200 shoots, You going to take
- 58:33$150.00 shoots because you're in survival mode.
- 58:36But now I'm not in survival mode.
- 58:37Now I can sit back and wait and snipe the $3000 shoots, the
- 58:41$5000 shoots like my TV shows $100,000.
- 58:44I didn't snipe that one but it just came to me but.
- 58:46Yeah, that's OK. Humble grab.
- 58:49You know what is it? Subtle flex?
- 58:52What? What is that saying?
- 58:53It is, isn't it? That's not how it works.
- 58:55That's not how it. Works.
- 58:56Oh yeah, the cool stuff you don't get paid for.
- 58:58Damn it. Yeah, that that was what we were
- 59:00talking about. Yeah, that's exactly not a team.
- 59:04The crew, all that stuff. Like I had a crew of eight
- 59:06people, so they had to get paid out.
- 59:08They had them for eight days. So yeah, yeah, it was.
- 59:12Everybody had to get paid out. What's something about like
- 59:16building creative strategy or content that people in the
- 59:22people underestimate about people in the Midwest doing it?
- 59:28Well, they might think like we're boring, we don't have too
- 59:33much going on like in Midwest wise because we don't have as
- 59:36much attractions or nightlife or I don't know exactly how far it
- 59:39is in your spot, but yeah, yeah. So I would guess I would say
- 59:45like small Midwest, like it's easier for us to lock in because
- 59:50we don't have as much distractions.
- 59:51But at the same time, some people who with the
- 59:54distractions, they have more opportunity to go get distracted
- 59:57by all other stuff. So it's a win.
- 59:59It's a win win, I would say yeah, but they they what they
- 1:00:03what the question was you what they struggle with.
- 1:00:05Or just like people who maybe underestimate just some of the
- 1:00:10stuff in the Midwest or or other creatives in the Midwest who are
- 1:00:13doing things or you know, like, yeah, you also travel to get out
- 1:00:16there and network with other people, but you're still
- 1:00:18residing here. You're still, I know you're
- 1:00:20thinking globally impact wise or, you know, reach.
- 1:00:23Why is this global? But impact is probably local.
- 1:00:26Man OK, so just the whole Bad Bunny thing, like.
- 1:00:30Just two years ago exactly. Yeah, he.
- 1:00:32Was at a grocery store, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:00:34So just staying down for the come up, really just
- 1:00:37understanding that everything is not going to just blow up so
- 1:00:39fast and everything they actually, they say have a 10
- 1:00:43year business plan. That's really when businesses
- 1:00:45take off anyways. In two years now people, they,
- 1:00:48the social media has put it out there for people to blow up a 1,
- 1:00:52you know, one year, 30 days and stuff like that.
- 1:00:54That's been nice enough for people's mindsets.
- 1:00:57Or it's the vanity of the views. Yes, You know, if we go back to
- 1:01:00that, because you can see on anyone's profile, you can see
- 1:01:02how many views are getting on something, right?
- 1:01:04But then like, OK, is the community really there?
- 1:01:08What's the what's the comments like?
- 1:01:10Where's the traction of people actually there or not?
- 1:01:13Yeah, yeah, No, that, that's, that's another thing I would say
- 1:01:16Midwest, especially Oklahoma, it's kind of harder because back
- 1:01:21to the survival mode, it's the crab and barrel mentality.
- 1:01:23When I, when I say that is people I want to make it out
- 1:01:26first or I want to make it I I didn't need your help.
- 1:01:29I I did it by myself. That's survival mode, I would
- 1:01:31say yeah, the self-made, I used to be on it too. self-made,
- 1:01:35self-made something that's survival too.
- 1:01:37Yeah and because the lone it's not it's not a yeah, lone wolf
- 1:01:41is not a flex. No, a flex is having a
- 1:01:43community. A flex is having a tribe.
- 1:01:45A flex is having look at how many other people haven't built
- 1:01:48up in the same system. That's the flex.
- 1:01:50But all the by yourself stuff, not the flex I, I thought it
- 1:01:54was. I really thought that was I
- 1:01:55thought. It was I mean, we were all
- 1:01:56getting sold it. Yeah, You know, we I think we go
- 1:01:59through that in our season of life too.
- 1:02:01Yeah, yeah. Find me after at least five eco
- 1:02:04deaths please. No real.
- 1:02:09Yeah, no, yeah. Like, I mean, even if we go back
- 1:02:11to Bad Bunny, I mean, like, yeah, his reach is global now
- 1:02:14still. And he could have as one of the
- 1:02:16most like prominent artist right now globally done his residency
- 1:02:21where everybody does a residency, Las Vegas, Miami,
- 1:02:24He's like, now fuck that, I'm going to Puerto Rico.
- 1:02:26Come and spend your money in my island.
- 1:02:28Come and learn about my island. Coming to help my people.
- 1:02:31They need it. That's.
- 1:02:32Excellent. It's like, why not circulate the
- 1:02:35dollar with your people? Yes, yeah, that makes sense.
- 1:02:37Yeah, that's why I I'm a big bad Bunny Stan.
- 1:02:40Like I love other artists who are big, but it's like, but what
- 1:02:43are you doing? What's your like?
- 1:02:46Or, you know, like, yeah, when you, when you also know the
- 1:02:48language, 'cause I speak Spanish, it's like everyone
- 1:02:51listens to certain songs. Like Ilapagoran sounds really
- 1:02:54fun and like exciting and poppy, but really the song is about how
- 1:02:59the island has no electricity all the time and has issues.
- 1:03:03Yeah. And it's like, oh shit, I didn't
- 1:03:05know that, you know? His Super Bowl experience, I
- 1:03:07mean, performance. I really love that he shined the
- 1:03:11light on everything. Like he brought a whole culture
- 1:03:14there. Like it's forget.
- 1:03:15Like we're gonna show what we're gonna do.
- 1:03:17Yeah, that's what I would really like.
- 1:03:19Is like he's just yeah, I got, you know, I'm here, but I'm
- 1:03:22gonna bring y'all with me. I'm gonna bring my culture with
- 1:03:24me. I'm gonna show y'all from just
- 1:03:26from the details, just from the plant.
- 1:03:28No, all the whole everything that was just that was cool to
- 1:03:31me. Yeah, well, I mean, like, I
- 1:03:33can't remember her name, but like the lady who had the Taco
- 1:03:36sand, like she she like literally does have like a small
- 1:03:39Taco sand in Puerto Rico. Yeah, Yeah.
- 1:03:41Like he wasn't like, Oh yeah. Let me bring like a really big
- 1:03:44time person. It's like now I'm gonna bring my
- 1:03:46yeah, human people and the storytelling, Like we go back to
- 1:03:49the storytelling, like the hats, true storytelling, right.
- 1:03:52Like we're not. Last longer, yeah.
- 1:03:54Yeah. And even just the impact of the
- 1:03:57family, you know what I mean? Like, Oh my God, that was my
- 1:04:00grandma or that was my aunt or that was my cousin or whatever.
- 1:04:03My sister, yeah. Yeah, I'm big on just, you know,
- 1:04:07pushing, pushing the people forward.
- 1:04:09Yeah, not nothing oppression and then holding people back or
- 1:04:12moving the goal posts or gatekeeping.
- 1:04:14Nothing like that. I'm really big on just helping
- 1:04:17out 'cause I remember I didn't have no help.
- 1:04:20I didn't have a opportunity or a chance or something like that.
- 1:04:23And you just be the change that you want to be, be the impact.
- 1:04:26You know, like if I'm living my best life, I can impact another
- 1:04:30young boy that look just like me to do the same exact thing.
- 1:04:34They call it television. So it's you telling another
- 1:04:36man's vision. So the vision that they just
- 1:04:38been showing online hasn't been my vision or has been my
- 1:04:41people's vision. So I'm a tell they share my
- 1:04:44vision with my own camera. I don't need my own the other
- 1:04:47production like I can produce and feel my own stuff and I
- 1:04:50could put it on to you just like that or YouTube or whatever
- 1:04:52platform they want to consume it.
- 1:04:54I got chills with that. Yeah, I love that.
- 1:04:57I also because like right before this, earlier this morning, I
- 1:05:00opened my phone and I was looking at, I forgot which big
- 1:05:03brand commercial it was, but what I liked about their
- 1:05:05commercial was around like I as a woman, like I could I have to
- 1:05:11work so much harder. It was like talking through
- 1:05:13that, but in a really pretty way, like, you know, without
- 1:05:16saying all the other words, it was, it was like, I have to work
- 1:05:21much harder. I'm the only woman here.
- 1:05:22I'm the only woman engineer. And it's like, I did that and
- 1:05:24it's like, that's not what I want.
- 1:05:26I want to be one of them. I want other And then like it
- 1:05:30flips camera to like someone who looks like me, you know, or just
- 1:05:34like has more melanin in their skin and.
- 1:05:38There's like brain, it's like we need that.
- 1:05:40We need to implant that in our head because all we see is
- 1:05:42something different that's not look like us.
- 1:05:44And you don't have the inspiration.
- 1:05:47Yeah. Inspired means literally the the
- 1:05:49breath, like to breathe, breath into somebody.
- 1:05:52That's what inspired breath spirit.
- 1:05:55Yeah. So I want to inspire, you know,
- 1:05:57bring life into all the people who feel dead inside.
- 1:06:01Yeah, yeah. I mean, yeah, like, I think even
- 1:06:06when we're not seeing enough melanin on screen forever, You,
- 1:06:12you. I think everyone has this or
- 1:06:14goes through like colorism or racism in every culture where
- 1:06:18it's like darker skin. It seemed uglier.
- 1:06:21I used to. I used to always get told that
- 1:06:23when I was little, like, oh, you're so dark and but it wasn't
- 1:06:26like Nice Comet. And so I grew up hating my skin
- 1:06:31and I always wanted colored hair.
- 1:06:33And I would, I grew up thinking I can't have colored hair
- 1:06:36because I have dark skin and it's not going to look good on
- 1:06:40me. But I always wanted it.
- 1:06:42And I remember one time in high school, one of my teachers was
- 1:06:44like, don't say that. Like if I didn't understand what
- 1:06:47she was saying. And she was a white teacher, but
- 1:06:50like, she was so sweet. Like I and I was like, no,
- 1:06:52that's not what I'm saying. Like I'm not saying that it's
- 1:06:54ugly. I'm saying like it's not going
- 1:06:55to look at her because of the color of my skin.
- 1:06:57But I wasn't understanding what she was saying to me.
- 1:06:59You know, she was like, that's not true.
- 1:07:01If you want that color, you can't do it, you know, And it
- 1:07:04took me years. And it also took me years
- 1:07:06because like I started to watch a lot of shows with colored
- 1:07:09people, you know what I mean? Because I wanted to see color
- 1:07:11and I want to, I started to really go like, Oh my God, I do
- 1:07:15love my skin tone. There's more people on screen
- 1:07:17who have skin tone like me or right now I'm a little lighter
- 1:07:20comparably to when I'm out in the sun.
- 1:07:22But you know what I mean? Like it was just like I, yeah,
- 1:07:26it does really like the stuff that you're consuming really
- 1:07:29does have a big impact on. You have a big impact.
- 1:07:32I definitely wish it was more like representation or if it was
- 1:07:36more mainstream or just had more outlets, you know, 'cause
- 1:07:40sometimes the representation or the mainstream says it's not
- 1:07:44cool to be, you know, soft in a way or you don't, you have to
- 1:07:48have this guard up all the time. You don't have a, a safe area to
- 1:07:51let your guard down or it's not cool to cry or all this other
- 1:07:54stuff. So if you put out these other
- 1:07:56things that you might and spark someone else's mind to, hey,
- 1:08:00it's OK to cry. It's OK to do this.
- 1:08:01It's great to have a safe space for community.
- 1:08:03You ain't got to be the lone wolf.
- 1:08:05Yeah, yeah. And success is getting out of
- 1:08:07bed in the morning. Yeah.
- 1:08:09And success is you just being here.
- 1:08:10It's not anything else in that, yes.
- 1:08:13Yes, yes, just. We're trying to combat all the
- 1:08:17shit that we all see, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:08:20I would say being able to just wake up every day and just like
- 1:08:24live the freedom, you know, just choose.
- 1:08:27Like that's a blessing. Yeah, we got a choice.
- 1:08:30Like we can choose what you want to do, but just being able to
- 1:08:34keep striving towards your goal is a blessing.
- 1:08:36Yes, yeah, I. Love it.
- 1:08:38So we're reaching towards the end of the episode where we go
- 1:08:41to our lightning round now and lightning round is where we ask
- 1:08:46you I'm going to switch to my phone 'cause I always end up
- 1:08:48writing these on my phone instead and let me pull it up I.
- 1:08:53Heard that lightning now I wouldn't.
- 1:08:55Know Yeah, they're scary questions.
- 1:08:57Just kidding. Oh, no, hold on.
- 1:09:01Did I open the wrong one? This is where we ask you a bunch
- 1:09:04of questions. I might, Dusty, I might have you
- 1:09:07ask the question first just because my stuff is going slow
- 1:09:11over here and you want to just like off the cuff, whatever
- 1:09:16comes to you there. OK, I got it.
- 1:09:20You go first though. Instagram or TikTok?
- 1:09:24What's your choice? Oh.
- 1:09:26Dang, it's kind of tough now. I only like TikTok now because
- 1:09:31of discoverability, but like Instagram is like just this
- 1:09:34Polish portfolio. Everyone want to be perfect and
- 1:09:38but TikTok, you know, you can do a trend.
- 1:09:40You can I'm I'm new to the trends, so I'm I'm not used to,
- 1:09:46you know, jumping on to something like that, But now I'm
- 1:09:48seeing like you can be more free.
- 1:09:50So I'm going to go TikTok. Oh, OK, OK.
- 1:09:54Speaking of content, what's a content trend that makes you
- 1:09:56want to throw your phone across the room?
- 1:09:59You're like, I'm tired of seeing this shit.
- 1:10:04I like all content. You're just a sweet.
- 1:10:07You're a sweet boy. Yeah, I don't.
- 1:10:09It's not much that I don't like. No.
- 1:10:12No, I like everything because I'm, you know, I'm open.
- 1:10:14Yeah. Forever the student of the game.
- 1:10:17OK. No, I can't pick up content that
- 1:10:20I don't like. What's the first app?
- 1:10:23Oh, sorry, go ahead. Oh yeah, no, you, you had it.
- 1:10:26No, I'm sorry, that was so rude of me.
- 1:10:27I just having to click on it. Oh OK OK that was so rude of me.
- 1:10:31What's the first app you opened in the morning?
- 1:10:35Be real. Open up my Notions app.
- 1:10:42OK. Notions.
- 1:10:45Yeah, because that's just what my that's like my everything's
- 1:10:48on my notions so and I actually close my phone on notions so
- 1:10:54when I wake it up, it's already there.
- 1:10:56Like it has my To Do List already because if I just get
- 1:11:00to, you know, I'm gonna get to looking at whatever.
- 1:11:03Yeah. Yeah, a lot of times I delete my
- 1:11:04apps too. It ain't nothing to download it
- 1:11:06back. Notion, as in the AI workspace
- 1:11:09that works for you? Is that it?
- 1:11:12Yeah, right. No, they just got AI I.
- 1:11:15Think they I think they just got AI, but yeah, Notion does a lot
- 1:11:19of things in there. Yeah, it's like a can you?
- 1:11:21Explain what they do. It's a planner, but planner.
- 1:11:24Yeah, planner. But it's more than that.
- 1:11:26Yeah, you can Add all your To Do List.
- 1:11:29It can be like a wiki page. You can even have portfolios in
- 1:11:33there if you wanted to. Me, it's more of my advanced
- 1:11:35notes because my I start everything on my notes.
- 1:11:38If I have a brainstorm idea, I'll talk it on my notes and
- 1:11:41then it'll get, it'll go to my AI, it'll go through that first
- 1:11:46and then I'll make it to my notions.
- 1:11:47Oh, cool. Yeah, nice.
- 1:11:50OK, what's a a creator doing content right now that you're
- 1:11:55like, oh, they're doing this right?
- 1:11:58It's a guy in Orlando, FL, His name is Evan Productions.
- 1:12:05And he basically he does skits. I'm trying to get into skits.
- 1:12:09And he does these like client breakdowns.
- 1:12:11Like basically clients have a a idea in their head that just is
- 1:12:18completely not true. And then he basically like
- 1:12:21breaks it down. And then like now it's like, OK,
- 1:12:24that isn't true. So, yeah, and I just like how he
- 1:12:28delayed like he relays it because especially with Myspace,
- 1:12:31not everyone, they just think, oh, everything's cheap and
- 1:12:35everything is this or it's that easy or I don't know, but I have
- 1:12:39to. I have some debriefing and
- 1:12:42debunking to do in my in my field.
- 1:12:44Yeah, yeah. See kind of like kind of like,
- 1:12:52oh, like I can make that shooting on my iPhone yes
- 1:12:57versus. Yes, especially editing.
- 1:12:59I think editing is just snap of a finger.
- 1:13:01Yeah, it's not. Yeah, it's not.
- 1:13:04Yeah. If you could, cheers.
- 1:13:08To anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?
- 1:13:10Cheers. Yeah, like a yeah, I met a lot
- 1:13:16of people. I haven't met Nipsey Hussle,
- 1:13:17though. I was supposed to and meet him
- 1:13:19though. So yeah, we're going to put
- 1:13:21Nipsey on there. Nice.
- 1:13:23Yeah, that's a good one. And Michael Jackson.
