- 1:08Speaker 2: Come twenty five Whist.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Souls twenty line. Everybody all right, b welcome to the show.
- 1:15Speaker 1: I do want to start off with, and I brought
- 1:17Speaker 1: my stat sheet undraftkings, just full transparency with how much
- 1:23Speaker 1: I lost last year won last year. And I can
- 1:26Speaker 1: tell you this, I was having a pretty good year
- 1:28Speaker 1: up until about August. The last two months though, really
- 1:32Speaker 1: set me back.
- 1:33Speaker 3: That's when things just started getting weird in both the
- 1:35Speaker 3: NFL and college.
- 1:36Speaker 1: I was very open about my struggles.
- 1:38Speaker 3: Yes, so we appreciate vulnerable.
- 1:40Speaker 1: I never want to be the guy that acts like
- 1:42Speaker 1: he wins all the time, because I don't.
- 1:44Speaker 4: I do well.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Some years. I've had years where I've really come out
- 1:48Speaker 1: of head. This was not one of those years. My
- 1:50Speaker 1: total for twenty twenty five was minus twenty four thousand,
- 1:54Speaker 1: two hundred and fifty six dollars.
- 1:56Speaker 3: Again, twenty four thousand, oh my, oh my goodness, jeez.
- 2:00Speaker 1: And eighteen of that thousand was in the last two
- 2:02Speaker 1: and a half months. Oh my good I couldn't hit.
- 2:06Speaker 3: Yeah, it was hard, dude, and.
- 2:08Speaker 1: I was doubling up to catch up. And I was
- 2:09Speaker 1: also doing a lot. I wasn't chasing, but I was
- 2:11Speaker 1: doing a lot of.
- 2:12Speaker 3: I think it's called no, no, no.
- 2:14Speaker 1: I wasn't chasing. Immediately, I wouldn't chase as my emotions
- 2:18Speaker 1: were high. The next week I would go not checked
- 2:20Speaker 1: my stat sheet. Let me try to climb back in
- 2:22Speaker 1: this thing. Is that that's a version of chasing. Is
- 2:25Speaker 1: I don't like to chase, but I don't feel like
- 2:27Speaker 1: that's chasing.
- 2:28Speaker 5: No, I don't chasing is like the night of a
- 2:30Speaker 5: big loss, like I need to make it back the
- 2:32Speaker 5: coach chase.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Yeah, and more deposits, more deposits were chasing.
- 2:36Speaker 1: I did a lot of bets though this year that
- 2:38Speaker 1: were big bets, big futures that I did not hit.
- 2:43Speaker 3: But those are all done.
- 2:45Speaker 1: I have one left, I have the forty nine ers
- 2:47Speaker 1: I put a thousand bucks on.
- 2:48Speaker 5: I can make it all back, right, Oh yeah it
- 2:50Speaker 5: was wasn't that paid like twenty.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Yeah, But like I bet a future and it didn't
- 2:55Speaker 1: count as a loss until it hit. I bet at
- 2:57Speaker 1: the beginning of the year, preseason, two thousand dollars on
- 3:01Speaker 1: the Broncos and the Bucks to both make the playoffs.
- 3:04Speaker 1: I thought that was easy money about week seven. So yeah,
- 3:09Speaker 1: I lost twenty four thousand dollars in twenty twenty five,
- 3:12Speaker 1: and most of it was in the last two months
- 3:13Speaker 1: of the year, so there you have it. Don't say
- 3:17Speaker 1: I'm not being honest with you guys.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Oh, thank you. I had to so you sent a bet.
- 3:21Speaker 3: I don't know a couple of weeks ago, and I
- 3:22Speaker 3: showed my kids and like, look at Bobby hit and
- 3:24Speaker 3: they were like, whoa, that's crazy. And then I was like,
- 3:27Speaker 3: the guy's relaxed. He loses a lot too, all right,
- 3:29Speaker 3: just so you know, I don't want them to growing up.
- 3:31Speaker 1: It was a good one though. I had like a
- 3:33Speaker 1: seven game parlay for oh yeah, twenty four hundred bucks.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Yeah hit all that.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I did though, and that was fun. But yeah,
- 3:40Speaker 1: it's been a rough year.
- 3:42Speaker 3: It has been tough. Yeah, a lot. I've had to
- 3:46Speaker 3: slow down a little bit. Yeah, yeah, boy, especially since
- 3:49Speaker 3: our scary and.
- 3:49Speaker 1: It said same under his bread. I don't know if
- 3:51Speaker 1: you heard him.
- 3:52Speaker 5: So yeah, we haven't heard from Brandon about gamaling in
- 3:54Speaker 5: like three months.
- 3:55Speaker 3: I remember a lot of Brandon stories of dude, I
- 3:57Speaker 3: hit five.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Yoh.
- 4:00Speaker 6: But I have to say, you guys were one hundred
- 4:03Speaker 6: percent correct. I don't know if you remember this, but
- 4:06Speaker 6: I was like, oh, yeah, I'll get into it. And
- 4:07Speaker 6: I started winning like just that first time, and you're
- 4:10Speaker 6: like dude, you don't understand, like you're you're it's.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Not gonna last. It's like, I think it's pretty good.
- 4:16Speaker 6: Like four or five weeks in, I was like, uh,
- 4:19Speaker 6: I was having Oh my god, dude, Bobby, you're not kidding,
- 4:22Speaker 6: Like this has been just the worst past like two months.
- 4:25Speaker 3: Losing money. But how much fun has it been?
- 4:27Speaker 4: Well?
- 4:28Speaker 1: You have to do it for entertainment, yes, yeah, and
- 4:31Speaker 1: I was entertaining the crap out of minus twenty four
- 4:32Speaker 1: thousand dollars. That sounds like a lot of fun.
- 4:36Speaker 3: Like what else?
- 4:37Speaker 2: So much fun?
- 4:38Speaker 1: Man, it is awesome.
- 4:40Speaker 3: It was fun.
- 4:41Speaker 1: How much fun it was? So yeah, don't do it
- 4:43Speaker 1: unless you have it to lose. It's entertainment only.
- 4:46Speaker 3: But my wife, my wife thinks I have a problem
- 4:48Speaker 3: because and it's not a problem. I don't have a problem. Okay,
- 4:51Speaker 3: And I know I.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Know what someone without a problem says.
- 4:53Speaker 3: I don't have a problem.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Yeah, no, quite whenever. I want no problem here. But like, friends, no,
- 5:02Speaker 1: what's that? That's what you call the races?
- 5:04Speaker 4: Got it?
- 5:06Speaker 1: Get it mixed up?
- 5:06Speaker 3: You guys had done that bet you know, and like, uh,
- 5:10Speaker 3: what was it was? Arkansas basketball parlayed.
- 5:12Speaker 1: With San Francisco something.
- 5:15Speaker 3: Something okay, And I was at a basketball game and
- 5:18Speaker 3: I saw Kevin's text come in. Never saw your text
- 5:21Speaker 3: come in until Kevin's came in, and I was like, oh,
- 5:23Speaker 3: I want to jump in on this. And I was
- 5:26Speaker 3: in a gym where there was no service during the
- 5:28Speaker 3: basketball game. I'm going up to the top of the
- 5:30Speaker 3: bleachers by putting my phone.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Up high entertainment with Ius, hang with your buddies.
- 5:35Speaker 3: And my wife goes, you have a problem, I'm just
- 5:38Speaker 3: to hang out with the boys. I said, no, no, I'm
- 5:39Speaker 3: just trying to place a bet so we can all
- 5:42Speaker 3: be part of it. That's it.
- 5:43Speaker 5: Yeah, those ones are fun, though, like when all three
- 5:45Speaker 5: of us get in on one and then you're you're.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Like hanging out, but you're not exactly And you know
- 5:50Speaker 1: what that's worth to me, twenty four thousand dollars.
- 5:54Speaker 3: That's crazy crazy.
- 5:56Speaker 1: I was a little surprised at it. Yeah, because I
- 5:58Speaker 1: don't look while playing. I'll look at the end of
- 6:01Speaker 1: the month and just go month. I think the statute
- 6:02Speaker 1: is great too, because it really lets you know what
- 6:04Speaker 1: you're doing and you're losing too much. Stop. I looked
- 6:07Speaker 1: into the year, end of the year, and it was like,
- 6:09Speaker 1: oh man, my last cup once were real bad on me,
- 6:11Speaker 1: but it was a lot of those futures. I just
- 6:13Speaker 1: never hit those futures never.
- 6:15Speaker 3: But see, to me, the futures are fun because it
- 6:17Speaker 3: lasts a long time. Wait, a lot of entertainment there,
- 6:20Speaker 3: you know, I don't. I couldn't find it back in
- 6:22Speaker 3: my status sheet. But I looked like in December and November,
- 6:25Speaker 3: and I had placed five thousand bets last.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Year nicol at a time.
- 6:30Speaker 3: Five thousand bets.
- 6:32Speaker 4: That's a lot. Yeah.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Well, so we'll start with little honesty there to get
- 6:36Speaker 1: it started. I do have the richest athletic departments in
- 6:40Speaker 1: college sports. Who has not seen the list?
- 6:43Speaker 3: I have not seen the list?
- 6:44Speaker 4: You haven't.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Okay, what do you think the richest athletic department is
- 6:48Speaker 1: in all college sports? Texas, Texas, Vanderbilt, not endowment for
- 6:58Speaker 1: that's just rich to That'd be probably Harvard too, but
- 7:02Speaker 1: athletic departments. So I'll let you come back on that one.
- 7:05Speaker 1: You can also go with their answer.
- 7:07Speaker 3: I'll go to Texas.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Okay, it is Texas, Texas at number one.
- 7:09Speaker 3: We've seen it.
- 7:10Speaker 1: It is Texas. Oh you saw it?
- 7:11Speaker 3: Okay, No, not the list, and we saw Texas. It
- 7:14Speaker 3: was crazy.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Yeah, and we was seeing other rich schools and then
- 7:17Speaker 1: you see Texas.
- 7:18Speaker 3: It's unbelievable.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Don't know how they lose a single game at anything.
- 7:21Speaker 1: That's the thing. Yeah, they shouldn't, they shouldn't.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:24Speaker 5: On the one, Yeah, well Oregon or you guys said
- 7:26Speaker 5: it's better than even Oregon.
- 7:27Speaker 1: It is in Oregon, And that was the one that
- 7:30Speaker 1: was like wow, that they have so much money. Then
- 7:32Speaker 1: you go to Texas and you're like, oh, this is money,
- 7:35Speaker 1: this is money. Number two. By the way, Oregon does
- 7:40Speaker 1: not make the top fifteen, that doesn't mean that their
- 7:44Speaker 1: football doesn't have more.
- 7:46Speaker 3: Yeah, because they could.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Take and put a ton in football, which they do.
- 7:49Speaker 1: I got to guess this is college athletic departments.
- 7:50Speaker 3: Go ahead, I'm going to go to Notre Dame.
- 7:53Speaker 5: That's too good one. I got another guest, what's your guess,
- 7:55Speaker 5: Ohio State.
- 7:56Speaker 6: I was gonna say, Ohio State.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Ohio State at two. Oh, come home, Notre Dame at
- 8:00Speaker 1: number six. So we'll do, we'll go to We'll go
- 8:02Speaker 1: to like ten. You guys have been on number three, Florida, Michigan.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Who that's a good one, youuys Michigan.
- 8:13Speaker 1: I know Texas A and m oh dang, they do
- 8:15Speaker 1: a lot of money in Texasyeah Florida at fourteen.
- 8:18Speaker 3: I thought they gave all that money to.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Was that coach that left Jo's got all their money.
- 8:25Speaker 3: He took all that money.
- 8:26Speaker 1: They had to hawk all their weights.
- 8:28Speaker 3: That's all the ways guys.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Georgia at for Michigan at five. Okay, so three of
- 8:34Speaker 1: the top four sec Michigan at five, Notre Dame at six,
- 8:39Speaker 1: and they have Notre Dame listed as acc because they
- 8:41Speaker 1: are except for football. Tennessee at seven, South Southern California
- 8:46Speaker 1: at eight, Alabama at nine, Nebraska ten, Penn State at eleven,
- 8:51Speaker 1: LSU at twelve, Oklahoma at thirteen, Florida at fourteen, at
- 8:54Speaker 1: Kentucky at fifteen, and stops at fifteen.
- 8:56Speaker 5: Well, Kentucky's up there, huh, that's interesting, I guess that much.
- 9:02Speaker 1: And then a bad loss last night. Are they keep losing?
- 9:04Speaker 3: They're they're really bad that they're not ranked anymore.
- 9:07Speaker 1: They spent eight to no. They spent a ton of
- 9:09Speaker 1: money on a roster, which a lot of teams do.
- 9:12Speaker 1: I think they spent more than average because that's a
- 9:14Speaker 1: big part of Kentucky Sports. Uh, they're they're playing terrible.
- 9:19Speaker 1: I've reposted some of Matt Jones's clips of him being like,
- 9:21Speaker 1: thank you for taking John Calipart from us. We love it,
- 9:24Speaker 1: and I'm like, I reposted one the other day.
- 9:26Speaker 3: I said, no, no, no, thank you, yes nice Scott on
- 9:29Speaker 3: the bottom of my heart.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Yes, yes, no, thank you. So yeah, that's what's up.
- 9:35Speaker 1: We have a big show because we have two really
- 9:36Speaker 1: cool interviews that we're gonna do. We can go first
- 9:39Speaker 1: to Steve Smith, which I think we'll do. Now here's
- 9:42Speaker 1: our talk with former NFL wide receiver Steve Smith. He
- 9:44Speaker 1: was drafted third round two thousand and one and he's
- 9:47Speaker 1: just been that dude. Carolina's all time leader in receiving yards, touchdowns,
- 9:50Speaker 1: all purpose yards. He was inducted into the Panthers Hall
- 9:52Speaker 1: of Fame, which is the Hall of Honor, in twenty nineteen.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Now he's doing a lot of work with the NFL,
- 9:57Speaker 1: doing a lot of media. You can follow him at
- 9:58Speaker 1: Steve Smith's Senior eighty and here he is Steve Smith.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Steve really appreciates the time, man, big fan.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Well appreciate it. How you guys doing today?
- 10:07Speaker 1: Doing pretty good? You know, I was just looking at
- 10:09Speaker 1: Mike me Daniel, you know, just got fired a lot
- 10:12Speaker 1: of coaches. It feels like in college football we just
- 10:14Speaker 1: had this too, whereas more than I think I've ever seen,
- 10:16Speaker 1: I feel like now in the NFL we're seeing this
- 10:18Speaker 1: a bit. I guess I would like to talk first,
- 10:21Speaker 1: because it's all just so new with John Harball leaving
- 10:24Speaker 1: with the Ravens after eighteen years, Like, what are your
- 10:27Speaker 1: thoughts on that situation?
- 10:28Speaker 2: Eighteen years is a very long time. I come in
- 10:33Speaker 2: a little bit called in between, just because of being
- 10:37Speaker 2: a former raven experiencing John Harball personally, being in that
- 10:43Speaker 2: city and in that organization, and then a little bit
- 10:47Speaker 2: of understanding as an analyst, where when you hear reports
- 10:52Speaker 2: or you hear things, not everything is true. However, enough
- 10:57Speaker 2: discussion really kind of brings you to the conclusion. Anywhere
- 11:02Speaker 2: you are for eighteen years, there's a little bit, I
- 11:05Speaker 2: don't want to say complacency, but your message gets stale.
- 11:10Speaker 2: And that's just kind of part of business, every organization,
- 11:14Speaker 2: every individual. Where you have a long standing relationship or
- 11:17Speaker 2: tenure somewhere, there are gonna be people sad to see
- 11:22Speaker 2: you go, and they're gonna be people unfortunately happy to
- 11:25Speaker 2: see you go, and then there's gonna be people in
- 11:26Speaker 2: the middle like myself, where I'm not really sure if
- 11:29Speaker 2: it's a good thing or bad thing, because you got
- 11:32Speaker 2: to start to see what the next steps are, and
- 11:35Speaker 2: over time you'll say, hey, that was a good move
- 11:38Speaker 2: or it wasn't.
- 11:39Speaker 1: If you were an organization and you were looking for
- 11:41Speaker 1: a coach, or let's say you had a coach kind
- 11:43Speaker 1: of right on the fence and you didn't know, would
- 11:45Speaker 1: you bring Harball in to be your guy.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Yeah, you would bring him in because you know he's
- 11:50Speaker 2: going to manage every aspect of it. You know, his
- 11:54Speaker 2: background is special teams, so he's not an offensive play caller,
- 11:58Speaker 2: he's not a defensive play caller. So he allows his
- 12:01Speaker 2: coaches to really do their job and he just kind
- 12:04Speaker 2: of oversees and manages the aspect of the team. So
- 12:07Speaker 2: I think it's good. I think John Hall Harpball would
- 12:10Speaker 2: be in a would be good for a place that
- 12:13Speaker 2: has an established quarterback, that has some things already established,
- 12:16Speaker 2: because he is sixty two years old, and you know,
- 12:21Speaker 2: for him to start all over and be with a
- 12:23Speaker 2: team that's going to rebuild and restructure and all that stuff.
- 12:27Speaker 2: I think it's going to take a little bit of time. Right,
- 12:29Speaker 2: I'm here in Carolina, so you've seen that it's taken
- 12:31Speaker 2: a long time. They're in the playoffs for the first
- 12:33Speaker 2: time in ten years. So to say that is how
- 12:38Speaker 2: long it's going to take to build up. I don't
- 12:39Speaker 2: think John Harball is going to put himself at his
- 12:42Speaker 2: age and the experience he's had that he kind of
- 12:46Speaker 2: want to go through that. Again.
- 12:48Speaker 1: We live in Nashville and the Titans are here. I'm
- 12:51Speaker 1: not a Titans fan. It's hard to be a fan
- 12:53Speaker 1: of a team that isn't good and you didn't grow
- 12:55Speaker 1: up around, right, so like they haven't been good?
- 12:57Speaker 2: What is your team there?
- 13:00Speaker 1: I'm from Arkansas.
- 13:00Speaker 2: I'm just sitting here. I'm just sitting here about to
- 13:02Speaker 2: judge you.
- 13:03Speaker 1: So no, I'm this is absolute truth. I'm not pandering
- 13:06Speaker 1: to you at all. But so I'm from Arkansas. We
- 13:08Speaker 1: did not have an NFL team, So I'm a diehard
- 13:11Speaker 1: Razorback fan. And because I everybody in Arkansas was a
- 13:14Speaker 1: Cowboys fan, So I refuse to be a Cowboys fan.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Because Jerry Jones from Arkansas. So I this year, before
- 13:20Speaker 1: the season started, I said I'm gonna pick a team,
- 13:22Speaker 1: a team that does not and I'm gonna be a
- 13:24Speaker 1: super fan a team that does not have an easy culture,
- 13:27Speaker 1: like an absolute winning culture. And I picked the Panthers,
- 13:30Speaker 1: and I've been a diehard fan of the Panther. Why
- 13:32Speaker 1: did you do the face?
- 13:34Speaker 2: I don't know if that's a compliment. Well, because one
- 13:38Speaker 2: I said, I was gonna judge you. You said Arkansas
- 13:42Speaker 2: and use football. I'm not sure where those two.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Actually, no, they haven't a while. Yeah they haven't. No,
- 13:48Speaker 1: while it's a great point. Yeah, Okay, I did pick
- 13:51Speaker 1: the Panthers, and I got I gotta keep picking with Jersey.
- 13:54Speaker 2: Well thanks, well, thanks for jumping on the bandwagon. We're
- 13:57Speaker 2: little crowded though.
- 13:58Speaker 1: No, there was no wagon when I got on. It
- 14:01Speaker 1: was empty. It was before the season started. So I
- 14:05Speaker 1: have been a die hard year one Panthers fan and
- 14:10Speaker 1: so it's been real fun. And we went last year.
- 14:12Speaker 1: I went last year to camp and you know, talk
- 14:14Speaker 1: with Bryce Young and it was a lot of fun.
- 14:17Speaker 1: We had a good time, and so I've been root
- 14:19Speaker 1: for the pain.
- 14:19Speaker 2: When'd you come to camp? I was, I was there
- 14:21Speaker 2: a few times. I never saw you.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, I was that the normal, you know,
- 14:26Speaker 1: goofy dude with the big head. You didn't see me
- 14:27Speaker 1: walking around. It was at the college I think was
- 14:30Speaker 1: it Wafford? It was at Wafford last year? Yeah, we went,
- 14:32Speaker 1: we went to Watford.
- 14:33Speaker 2: No, was it last year? Was not at Watford last year?
- 14:35Speaker 2: It was in not this year, last year, years ago,
- 14:39Speaker 2: two years ago. Because I was going to say, they
- 14:41Speaker 2: haven't been at Watford for two years.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Now, so two years ago.
- 14:45Speaker 2: I'm just trying to I'm just trying to keep up
- 14:47Speaker 2: with the story.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, me too. Actually, wait, did you did
- 14:52Speaker 1: you have camp at Wofford and that didn't look that
- 14:53Speaker 1: didn't look comfortable? Did you have that when you were
- 14:55Speaker 1: with Panthers?
- 14:57Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I spent the whole that'spent a full year
- 15:01Speaker 2: of my life in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
- 15:03Speaker 1: That did not seem comfortable for players that had a
- 15:06Speaker 1: comfortable life at home.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean that's what training camp is for though, right.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Training camp is not you going to the risk call
- 15:14Speaker 2: to uh you got a bungalow over the over the water.
- 15:18Speaker 2: That's not the purpose of camp. Camp is to make
- 15:20Speaker 2: you uncomfortable, to strip you away from all the luxuries
- 15:23Speaker 2: and to getting down to the nitty gritty can you
- 15:26Speaker 2: and will you make this team and be able to focus?
- 15:29Speaker 2: So you're staying at a college when you live in
- 15:32Speaker 2: a house in dorms, So no, it's not very comfortable,
- 15:37Speaker 2: but you can do some things to make it comfortable.
- 15:40Speaker 2: I had I had a luxury like blow up matchres
- 15:44Speaker 2: with a low top, and I had that for years
- 15:48Speaker 2: because you can rent a bed or so I bought
- 15:51Speaker 2: a luxury from I think it was front Gate or
- 15:55Speaker 2: sharper Image back in the day, and so I care
- 15:58Speaker 2: kept it for about seven years. So I got my
- 16:01Speaker 2: money's worth when it was like three hundred dollars a
- 16:04Speaker 2: day to rent a good mattress down there. So I
- 16:09Speaker 2: just bought bought myself. You know, I'm I'm very as
- 16:13Speaker 2: my kids were saying, I'm very frugal. So really that's
- 16:16Speaker 2: my thumb process. Oh yeah, I'm a I'm a. I
- 16:19Speaker 2: pick up pennies and quarters off the strip, off the street. Dang,
- 16:23Speaker 2: put it in my pocket. When I get a coin
- 16:24Speaker 2: thing and a coin collect Then after six months I
- 16:29Speaker 2: cash it in going to the coin star full five
- 16:32Speaker 2: hundred dollars cash. Dang right there?
- 16:35Speaker 1: Did you save a lot of money while you were playing.
- 16:37Speaker 2: Oh, I sure did, because.
- 16:40Speaker 1: I feel like like I I didn't grow up with
- 16:42Speaker 1: any money at all. And at first when I made money,
- 16:45Speaker 1: I bought all the stuff that I didn't that I
- 16:46Speaker 1: didn't have as a kid. And then I got Then
- 16:48Speaker 1: I got right.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I screwed it up my first My
- 16:52Speaker 2: first check was blew it. However, you know, I learned
- 16:55Speaker 2: a little bit after that, and so I took care
- 16:58Speaker 2: of my money and I'm pretty comfortable.
- 17:00Speaker 1: You think that Panthers can beat the Rams.
- 17:03Speaker 2: This is a recorded line. I think, yes, okays have
- 17:10Speaker 2: to do then they have beat them before, But what
- 17:11Speaker 2: do they have to do so well, it's really tough
- 17:17Speaker 2: because it's hard to be at a really good team twice,
- 17:20Speaker 2: and it's even harder to beat a team where the
- 17:25Speaker 2: team before they sustain some injuries, just like the Carolina Panthers.
- 17:30Speaker 2: But they're getting some players back and we aren't. So
- 17:33Speaker 2: it's gonna be tough but eventually, But the biggest things
- 17:36Speaker 2: is don't leave the field without scoring points. Because you know,
- 17:43Speaker 2: Matthew Stafford is in company, Sean McVay is not gonna
- 17:46Speaker 2: have the same game plan. And biggest part is third down.
- 17:51Speaker 2: The Carolina Panthers are not great in the low thirties
- 17:57Speaker 2: in third down conversion, So keeping themselves on the field
- 18:02Speaker 2: continuously going through drives and not leaving points on the board,
- 18:06Speaker 2: I think they give themselves a chance. If they don't
- 18:09Speaker 2: do those things, it's gonna be very difficult to repeat
- 18:13Speaker 2: exactly what they did last season and ultimately the playoffs.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Everything you've done in a regular season, that's great, That
- 18:23Speaker 2: doesn't you get no brownie points and they don't give
- 18:26Speaker 2: you a four second head start because of what you
- 18:29Speaker 2: did in a regular season is now zero zero and
- 18:32Speaker 2: everyone has a clean slate. However, you know, we all
- 18:37Speaker 2: know the records and statistics, and it's gonna be a
- 18:40Speaker 2: tough game. But I'm excited to watch it and excited
- 18:43Speaker 2: to talk about it after.
- 18:45Speaker 1: Is it possible to be too hyped up for a
- 18:47Speaker 1: playoff game as a player.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Yes, but no, you want to be hyped up, you
- 18:53Speaker 2: want to have nerves where it can get you is
- 18:59Speaker 2: probably there's first first few series. You're so hyped up,
- 19:04Speaker 2: you have so much ad adrenaline running through you that
- 19:08Speaker 2: you get super winded super quick because you're going one
- 19:11Speaker 2: hundred miles per hour. Where you probably should have been
- 19:13Speaker 2: going seventy five miles per hour.
- 19:15Speaker 1: How do you feel about a team getting a bye,
- 19:18Speaker 1: let's say it's not about injuries. Do you like the
- 19:20Speaker 1: week off? And would you take week eighteen off if
- 19:23Speaker 1: you were getting a bye last two weeks off?
- 19:25Speaker 2: Then yeah, it just depends on your team. I have
- 19:31Speaker 2: had the buye. That's been a beneficial for me at
- 19:36Speaker 2: the time because I had an injury, so yes, but
- 19:38Speaker 2: I also felt the rust. It took me a few
- 19:41Speaker 2: series to get back. In a mix of things, I
- 19:43Speaker 2: prefer to play the wild card weekend, so you just
- 19:48Speaker 2: kind of have a flow and in a field and
- 19:51Speaker 2: you can start to get in rhythm and hopefully you
- 19:53Speaker 2: get in a rhythm and going all the way to
- 19:54Speaker 2: the super Bowl, so be able to start stop and
- 19:58Speaker 2: then reignite after watching another team run around and make
- 20:02Speaker 2: their mistakes and get the rust off. I think it varies.
- 20:08Speaker 2: It varies for both for different teams, and it really
- 20:12Speaker 2: counts and people utilize it based on the outcome.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Josh Allen in the playoffs and there's not a Lamar,
- 20:19Speaker 1: there's not a Patrick Mahomes, and there hasn't been a
- 20:21Speaker 1: Joe Burrow for a couple of years, but he's one
- 20:23Speaker 1: of the elite guys over in the AFC. Is this
- 20:25Speaker 1: the year that he's got to do it?
- 20:27Speaker 2: I think a lot of people are saying that I'm not.
- 20:30Speaker 2: I don't think it's fair to say he has to
- 20:33Speaker 2: do it because he's also playing the Jacksonville Jaguars team,
- 20:36Speaker 2: who is pretty stout right. Offensively, they're doing what they're doing,
- 20:39Speaker 2: but defensively, they're holding a lot of running backs, really
- 20:42Speaker 2: good running backs, and James Conner is one of those
- 20:44Speaker 2: guys below seventy five yards per game, Jonathan Taylor, who's almost,
- 20:50Speaker 2: I believe, the league leader and running for the running
- 20:54Speaker 2: backs and yards, and they held him to like seventy
- 20:57Speaker 2: five or seventy four yards. Order back of receivers they're
- 21:02Speaker 2: holding under seventy five yards per game. So it's gonna
- 21:08Speaker 2: be tough to say that Josh Allen needs to do
- 21:11Speaker 2: it where his supporting cast actually needs to do a
- 21:14Speaker 2: little bit more and take some weight off at his
- 21:17Speaker 2: back because he's been carrying that team for a very
- 21:19Speaker 2: long time.
- 21:20Speaker 1: I want to talk about return yards because you have
- 21:22Speaker 1: a lot of them, but when you're returning, are you
- 21:25Speaker 1: approaching that different than if you're catching a ball, meaning
- 21:28Speaker 1: the players are running at you, all of them. Do
- 21:30Speaker 1: you have to have like a supreme peripheral vision when
- 21:33Speaker 1: returning a ball.
- 21:35Speaker 2: That's a great question.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Thanks.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Neither one is different, and here's why. I would say,
- 21:42Speaker 2: when you're running a ball, when you're running a route,
- 21:46Speaker 2: jump up and catch it. What's the outcome if you
- 21:49Speaker 2: drop or pat you drop or catch the football.
- 21:55Speaker 1: If you drop it, I don't know, you still might
- 21:56Speaker 1: get hit.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Yeah. If you catch it, yeah.
- 21:59Speaker 1: I mean if you're drop it, you still might get
- 22:01Speaker 1: hit too, if it's close.
- 22:02Speaker 2: Yeah. But if you catch it, it's a guarantee you're
- 22:05Speaker 2: going to get hit. Yep. Hum return same thing. The
- 22:09Speaker 2: difference is they have a head start and you just
- 22:11Speaker 2: get to watch them. That's it. It's a mind trick.
- 22:16Speaker 2: The outcome still happens only if the ball that's thrown
- 22:20Speaker 2: to you in the route is uncatchable or if you
- 22:23Speaker 2: fair catch. Other than that, you're gonna get everything you're
- 22:27Speaker 2: you hope you don't get when catching a punt or
- 22:31Speaker 2: catching a route with the ball in your hands, Big
- 22:33Speaker 2: guys trying to knock the snot out of you.
- 22:36Speaker 1: Did you hate fair catching?
- 22:38Speaker 2: Oh? Yes? I sure did. I was a stat whore.
- 22:45Speaker 1: Yeah, could you tell on a punt when they're running
- 22:50Speaker 1: down could you see the lane before the ball even
- 22:52Speaker 1: got to you.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Yeah, that's where the film study comes. Where the ball
- 22:57Speaker 2: is going. So for me, is catching a football, I'm looking,
- 22:59Speaker 2: I'm I'm looking up. As I'm looking up, I'm also
- 23:04Speaker 2: because look, you're on the team with fifty three guys,
- 23:08Speaker 2: forty six that dress, You eat breakfast with them, you're
- 23:10Speaker 2: around them. Since you know those dorm rooms two years ago.
- 23:14Speaker 2: Though those dorm rooms where you're standing staying next to
- 23:18Speaker 2: each other, you're learning each other. You also know who
- 23:22Speaker 2: who has a tougher matchup. So if my gunners singled
- 23:26Speaker 2: or doubled single on the right side, doubled on the
- 23:29Speaker 2: left side, I traditionally will go, Okay, I need to
- 23:32Speaker 2: be paying attention to my single side. But if the
- 23:35Speaker 2: player the gunner is extremely good and that's why they're
- 23:38Speaker 2: doubling them, I still have to pay attention to him,
- 23:41Speaker 2: and then you're gonna have an outlier where someone gets
- 23:43Speaker 2: out of whack and maybe loses a little bit leverage.
- 23:46Speaker 2: So I'm constantly looking at the ball, at the flight
- 23:49Speaker 2: of the ball and while the flight is going, I'm
- 23:52Speaker 2: looking at the football as it spins. Is the nose
- 23:54Speaker 2: up which means it will continue to keep going? Or
- 23:57Speaker 2: is the nose starting to go down which means is
- 24:00Speaker 2: gonna fall? Is about to fall at that depth that
- 24:04Speaker 2: we know that the punter is usually hitting. And then
- 24:07Speaker 2: is it a left to right? Is it a right
- 24:09Speaker 2: footed punter, left foot of punter, right foot of punters spinning,
- 24:12Speaker 2: it's gonna go to the right, But when it's left,
- 24:16Speaker 2: it actually falls and it goes to your left. Most
- 24:20Speaker 2: punters are right foot it, so that throws it off,
- 24:24Speaker 2: and it's a different spin, so it hits your hands
- 24:27Speaker 2: a little bit different. So it's a lot of calculated, detailedness.
- 24:30Speaker 2: That that's why the couch folks that watch football think
- 24:33Speaker 2: they could just get off the couch after a bear
- 24:36Speaker 2: and some wings and go do it.
- 24:38Speaker 1: It's not that easy. Were you a guy that when
- 24:41Speaker 1: you juke somebody out, you went whoop, yep, gotcha? Would
- 24:43Speaker 1: you ever talk while doing while making plays?
- 24:45Speaker 3: Oh?
- 24:45Speaker 2: I yes, I would. I definitely would would say some things.
- 24:49Speaker 2: I said more things inside of my head than out loud,
- 24:53Speaker 2: But then out loud would be after I make the play.
- 24:55Speaker 2: But it was more psychological thing and just you know,
- 24:59Speaker 2: going through my keys and going through all of those
- 25:02Speaker 2: things I need to do. So on a pump return,
- 25:03Speaker 2: I had to make sure that was eleven guys on
- 25:05Speaker 2: the field, you know, so just ten guys ahead of me,
- 25:09Speaker 2: because I would be the eleventh. It took me a
- 25:11Speaker 2: while to figure that out because when I first did it,
- 25:14Speaker 2: I almost called time out because we were short, and
- 25:18Speaker 2: they said they stupid. You need to count yourself. So
- 25:21Speaker 2: that's the requirement of the pump returner. And then just
- 25:25Speaker 2: kind of seeing everything. Is the return right is it left?
- 25:29Speaker 2: Am I on a ten yard line? If I go
- 25:31Speaker 2: more than a step or two and a half steps,
- 25:35Speaker 2: that means I'm beyond the eight yard eight yards, which
- 25:38Speaker 2: means it is going to go onto the ball is
- 25:40Speaker 2: gonna go on the end zone. So I have to
- 25:41Speaker 2: be cautious of that. And I got to look up
- 25:44Speaker 2: by the distract the runners who are trying to down
- 25:46Speaker 2: it within the before it goes in the goal line
- 25:50Speaker 2: the end zone, and so now have to trick them.
- 25:54Speaker 2: So there's a lot of steps that goes into it.
- 25:56Speaker 2: That is less about what you're saying out side to
- 26:00Speaker 2: people and it's more of how quickly can you go
- 26:03Speaker 2: through your checks list before the play goes on and
- 26:07Speaker 2: be able to have the right judgment call on the
- 26:10Speaker 2: pump return or catching the football.
- 26:12Speaker 1: What quarterback did you have the best chemistry with? Uh?
- 26:16Speaker 2: The one I mean the one I was with the
- 26:18Speaker 2: longest I was with Jake DeLoone, I think probably about
- 26:21Speaker 2: eight years. We grew up together, we made the playoffs together,
- 26:24Speaker 2: we went to the Super Bowl together, NC Championships together.
- 26:28Speaker 2: So athletically though, best quarterback obviously is Cam Newton, but
- 26:35Speaker 2: you know, athletically gifty and spending time and growing into
- 26:42Speaker 2: this game with man, it's hard to just exit. It's
- 26:46Speaker 2: hard to just kind of cross out eight years of
- 26:49Speaker 2: experience to say, hey, man, I just had a more
- 26:51Speaker 2: athletic quarterback for three years. I don't think that's necessarily fair.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Who's the team to be in the AFC? Man?
- 27:00Speaker 2: I would? I want to say Jacksonville. I'm interested in
- 27:06Speaker 2: seeing how the Patriots are gonna do. I wouldn't be
- 27:08Speaker 2: shocked to the Chargers win and then but the Texans.
- 27:12Speaker 2: The Texans are one of those teams I'm really trying
- 27:14Speaker 2: to figure out who are they? Because defensively their top
- 27:17Speaker 2: notch offensively, they've had a lot of hiccups emotional roller coasters,
- 27:23Speaker 2: so I would have to go with I'm kind of
- 27:27Speaker 2: favoring the Jags or the Patriots.
- 27:29Speaker 1: I'm gonna ask you the same thing about the NFC,
- 27:31Speaker 1: because again, both sides they're really I don't feel like
- 27:33Speaker 1: there's a team that's head and shoulders above everybody else.
- 27:35Speaker 1: But from what you've seen, who's the team on the
- 27:37Speaker 1: NFC side?
- 27:39Speaker 2: Surprisingly, I think the Bears can shock some people. The
- 27:42Speaker 2: Packers were doing really good until Michael Parser's went down,
- 27:46Speaker 2: and they haven't been able to generate a lot of
- 27:48Speaker 2: sacks so that their defense has changed dramatically. The Rams,
- 27:52Speaker 2: let's see how they play the Panthers, who they played down.
- 27:55Speaker 2: Is this another game where Matthew Stafford has two touchdowns
- 27:58Speaker 2: and then they also give up fumble so it gives
- 28:01Speaker 2: more opportunity to the Carolina Panthers. And I'm intrigued to
- 28:05Speaker 2: see which Eagles offensively shows up, how Brock Perdy does
- 28:11Speaker 2: against the top tier defense like the Philadelphia Eagles. So
- 28:14Speaker 2: I'm I'm leaning towards I can see in the NFC Championship,
- 28:20Speaker 2: I can say the Bears and rams.
- 28:23Speaker 1: You gave me like eight teams there basically said every team.
- 28:26Speaker 1: You covered all bases there.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Now annalists and here, but here's why. Here, here's the
- 28:32Speaker 2: real truth. The real truth is if I don't mention
- 28:36Speaker 2: all these teams, the teams that I don't mention that
- 28:38Speaker 2: are playing, when I go to that game or I'm
- 28:42Speaker 2: on the sideline reporting, they will say something to me, oh,
- 28:46Speaker 2: I saw you picked U when Philly in Arizona, when
- 28:52Speaker 2: Philly was playing Kansas City Chiefs. I have picked on
- 28:55Speaker 2: like four different a couple of different on I would say, oh,
- 28:58Speaker 2: I got the Eagles, then that when I got I
- 29:00Speaker 2: got the Chiefs, and I'm so I'm doing some things
- 29:04Speaker 2: at the Super Bowl of the game, Patrick Strength, coach
- 29:11Speaker 2: and equipment manager. So you picked the Eagles, I said,
- 29:14Speaker 2: come on, bro, I went on another show and I
- 29:18Speaker 2: picked the Chiefs. He said, didn't hear that one. So
- 29:22Speaker 2: from now on, I'm I'm gonna make sure I hear
- 29:25Speaker 2: everything every team so I can make sure I'm good
- 29:29Speaker 2: because I still got to do my job. Man, I can't.
- 29:31Speaker 2: I can't have one team black balling because I didn't
- 29:34Speaker 2: pick them.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Whenever you're going into the Super Bowl, and there's that
- 29:37Speaker 1: two week break. Does that feel like an eternity after
- 29:39Speaker 1: you've been playing every week?
- 29:42Speaker 2: It is, It feels like an internity. But it also
- 29:45Speaker 2: allows you to get everything ready. There's a lot of
- 29:49Speaker 2: planning that that's involved, and you still have to practice.
- 29:52Speaker 2: So you have practice to get prepared for the Super Bowl,
- 29:55Speaker 2: biggest our, biggest event of the year. And yeah, you
- 29:58Speaker 2: got family members chomping at the bit of trying to
- 30:00Speaker 2: how they're going to figure out to get those tickets.
- 30:02Speaker 2: And when you go to Super Bowl, each player is
- 30:05Speaker 2: allowed a lot of so many tickets that you're paying for,
- 30:09Speaker 2: not for free, you're paying for So if you think
- 30:12Speaker 2: of you, I think ten tickets, or you get the
- 30:14Speaker 2: purchase ten tickets, well, you know it's the biggest game
- 30:18Speaker 2: and are and football is crazy popular. Well ten tickets
- 30:23Speaker 2: is is not enough tickets, so you try. So there's
- 30:27Speaker 2: a lot of botering and willing and dealing, dealing going
- 30:30Speaker 2: on amongst players on the teams that are going to see, hey,
- 30:34Speaker 2: are you going to use all of ten of your tickets?
- 30:36Speaker 2: You know how much you're gonna sell them to you?
- 30:39Speaker 2: And then you got a guy who starts to realize
- 30:40Speaker 2: that he got a hot commodity, and so he starts
- 30:43Speaker 2: to uh the price that he said for face value.
- 30:46Speaker 2: Now he maybe tries to get extra hundred bucks. So
- 30:49Speaker 2: it becomes a lot of willing and dealing going.
- 30:51Speaker 1: On with the halftime show making a longer halftime. Did
- 30:55Speaker 1: you feel that during the Super Bowl?
- 30:57Speaker 2: Uh? No, you don't go by so fast. Don't feel
- 31:00Speaker 2: any in that. It seems short.
- 31:03Speaker 1: Do you remember who played your halftime show when you
- 31:05Speaker 1: guys play the Broncos.
- 31:08Speaker 2: I do, because it was some teen years ago, because
- 31:12Speaker 2: it was the infamous justin Timberlay.
- 31:14Speaker 1: Oh that was the halftime show?
- 31:15Speaker 2: Then?
- 31:16Speaker 1: Yeah, did you now do you even hear about that
- 31:19Speaker 1: during the second half at all?
- 31:21Speaker 2: No, we didn't unless you have you're listening to the broadcast. No, man,
- 31:27Speaker 2: and I'm on the field, so I don't. I don't
- 31:28Speaker 2: have broadcasting ears to listen.
- 31:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:31Speaker 1: I didn't know if he did, and I don't know
- 31:32Speaker 1: if they.
- 31:33Speaker 2: That's a great question though.
- 31:34Speaker 3: That was crazy for that was.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Such a cultural moment. I didn't know if maybe word
- 31:37Speaker 1: got back like Janet Jackson's nipple was just shown at halftime?
- 31:41Speaker 2: No? Never, Uh never went across our place. Sheet were
- 31:46Speaker 2: sitting in the Nipple were sitting there in the huddle
- 31:49Speaker 2: and they're going, hey, did you know what happened at halftime?
- 31:52Speaker 2: That that never happened.
- 31:53Speaker 1: But a little bit though, Let's say in a game,
- 31:55Speaker 1: if something like you see somebody in the stands, like
- 31:57Speaker 1: you see Samuel L. Jackson's here, Adam Sandler's here, like
- 31:59Speaker 1: you semover and row three, you guys talk about that
- 32:01Speaker 1: in the huddle, right, we may talk.
- 32:04Speaker 3: About a huddle.
- 32:04Speaker 2: If you run out of bounds, it's really hard to
- 32:06Speaker 2: see and you kind of see the celebrities before the game,
- 32:11Speaker 2: touring the game, you're so locked in you're trying not
- 32:13Speaker 2: to pay attention to it. So when someone does say something,
- 32:17Speaker 2: it's a big deal in the huddle.
- 32:19Speaker 1: Talk about your podcast for a second. What are you
- 32:20Speaker 1: guys talking about on cut to It?
- 32:23Speaker 2: Oh Man? So cut to It? I switched the name
- 32:25Speaker 2: from cut to It at the eighty nine just recently.
- 32:28Speaker 2: But we just talked about football, everything that's going on
- 32:32Speaker 2: currently right now, talking about the Carolina Panthers and then
- 32:35Speaker 2: John Hardball getting fired. That we did that one on
- 32:38Speaker 2: Tuesday night just because the news came Tuesday morning, because
- 32:42Speaker 2: the news came so early, and it was surprising. Then obviously,
- 32:45Speaker 2: like today with Mike McDaniels, what does that look like?
- 32:51Speaker 2: So we talk about everything about football, and then right now,
- 32:54Speaker 2: when the playoffs starting, the Super Bowl combine, I'll start
- 32:57Speaker 2: getting in the nitty gritty of a valuating these wide
- 33:01Speaker 2: receivers that are coming out. It's a ton of wire receivers,
- 33:04Speaker 2: a ton of guys. So I do a little breakdown
- 33:06Speaker 2: on them, what I like, what I think they need
- 33:08Speaker 2: to work on. And that's been pretty successful and I enjoyed.
- 33:11Speaker 2: I love watching film still, so it kind of gives
- 33:13Speaker 2: me a little niche and I'm kind of a film nerd,
- 33:18Speaker 2: so it lets me kind of geek out and I enjoy.
- 33:20Speaker 1: So it's called eighty nine. Now you change your name?
- 33:23Speaker 2: Yep, the eighty nine show.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Yeah, oh, the eighty nine show. That's much easier than
- 33:26Speaker 1: just typing in eighty nine.
- 33:28Speaker 2: Yeah either, No, it's the number eighty nine. So we
- 33:30Speaker 2: gotta you know, we got you gotta kiss. Keep it simple, Steve. Yeah,
- 33:33Speaker 2: So eight eighty nine on YouTube, all right, and it's
- 33:36Speaker 2: and it's it's yellow and it has the number eight nine.
- 33:41Speaker 1: Like the number eighty nine. Absolutely, yeah, number le's make
- 33:44Speaker 1: it sure.
- 33:45Speaker 3: Eighty nine.
- 33:45Speaker 1: Yeah you were there.
- 33:46Speaker 3: All right.
- 33:46Speaker 1: Hey, look, I appreciate the time we got. We mentioned
- 33:49Speaker 1: every team. You're covered your every every you can't go
- 33:52Speaker 1: on a sideline without them being like Steve Smith, you
- 33:54Speaker 1: said our team. We appreciate that you can follow Steve
- 33:56Speaker 1: at Steve Smith Senior eighty nine like his show eighty
- 33:59Speaker 1: nine show on YouTube. All right, Steve, we really appreciate
- 34:02Speaker 1: the time. I am big fan, so thank you very
- 34:04Speaker 1: much for spending some time.
- 34:05Speaker 2: Appreciate it. Alright, have me on again.
- 34:07Speaker 1: All right, we will. All right, let's build the college
- 34:10Speaker 1: football parlay here with DraftKings tonight, Miami minus three versus
- 34:17Speaker 1: ole Miss. I feel like my heart is weighing too
- 34:21Speaker 1: much on me here. I really want ole Miss to
- 34:23Speaker 1: win because I want ole Miss to win at all,
- 34:25Speaker 1: because I want ole Miss to win at all with
- 34:28Speaker 1: a different coach. I don't even like ole Miss. I
- 34:30Speaker 1: don't hate All Miss, but I have no affiliation. I
- 34:34Speaker 1: don't even root for the SEC because it's the SEC
- 34:36Speaker 1: like that doesn't really happen as much as it used to.
- 34:39Speaker 1: That's not why I'm rooting for all Miss. I'm rooting
- 34:41Speaker 1: for ole Miss because I love the disaster of they
- 34:44Speaker 1: win a national championship without their coach who left them
- 34:47Speaker 1: because he could win a national championship somewhere else. So
- 34:51Speaker 1: I'm just gonna go over fifty two and a half.
- 34:54Speaker 3: Oh okay, smart, Okay, good. Yeah.
- 34:56Speaker 1: I feel like I have too much of a bias.
- 34:58Speaker 3: Yep, And when you bet, that's kind of what you
- 35:02Speaker 3: want to do. Take that bias out.
- 35:05Speaker 1: If I go to Friday Night Oregon in Indiana, I
- 35:08Speaker 1: think Oregon wins the game. Straight up. Let's go anytime
- 35:12Speaker 1: in my life. Well, most times that people are well,
- 35:16Speaker 1: this is a for sure thing in sports, Yes, it
- 35:18Speaker 1: turns out not to be a for sure thing.
- 35:20Speaker 3: Like when all the commentators pick the same team, it's
- 35:23Speaker 3: not good.
- 35:23Speaker 1: Like when you say the Cowboys are for sure gonna win,
- 35:25Speaker 1: they almost always lose.
- 35:27Speaker 3: It's not always.
- 35:29Speaker 1: I'm gonna go Oregon plus three and a half. Okay,
- 35:36Speaker 1: I'm hedging my bet there.
- 35:38Speaker 3: But see that in that one kind of a heart
- 35:39Speaker 3: that's a heart bet.
- 35:40Speaker 1: No, because I don't have a heart in this. I
- 35:42Speaker 1: really don't care. Okay, I think I think Oregon can
- 35:46Speaker 1: win that game. But I'm gonna go Oregon plus three
- 35:50Speaker 1: and a half. I think that's going to be the parlay.
- 35:53Speaker 1: Do I need to do three?
- 35:54Speaker 5: Well, you need to hit the was it three seventy
- 35:57Speaker 5: five mics?
- 35:57Speaker 1: Is that it is plus seventy five odds?
- 35:59Speaker 7: You know?
- 36:00Speaker 1: But over forty eight and a half? I never bet unders.
- 36:03Speaker 3: Over forty eight and a half on the second.
- 36:06Speaker 1: In Indiana's got a really good defense.
- 36:08Speaker 5: Really, Yeah, so does Oregon.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Yeah, screw it. We're going overs on both Okay and
- 36:13Speaker 1: Oregon plus three and a half. All right, that's the parlay.

- 37:17Speaker 1: Rams at Panthers, no heart, Just who's gonna win?
- 37:23Speaker 3: No spread Rams are gonna win that? Okay, no brainer.
- 37:27Speaker 1: Packers at Bears. What's surprising to me is that the
- 37:30Speaker 1: Packers are a favorite on the road. The Bears are healthy,
- 37:35Speaker 1: the Packers obviously aren't. Yeah, I agree, their best player
- 37:39Speaker 1: isn't playing. Michael Parson.
- 37:41Speaker 5: Yeah, I think the Bears win.
- 37:43Speaker 3: Same Bears.
- 37:46Speaker 1: Let's go, baby, What what do they know? The Packers
- 37:50Speaker 1: have been there before, at least played in the playoffs,
- 37:52Speaker 1: but played.
- 37:54Speaker 2: Like a month.
- 37:54Speaker 3: But that's what I'm thinking, Like, do they know that?
- 37:56Speaker 1: But their favorite on the road? They don't trust Caleb
- 38:00Speaker 1: uh Sunday Chargers that I'm gonna take the Packers?
- 38:03Speaker 3: Oh really?
- 38:04Speaker 1: That's yeah. I figure, look at you three and I'm
- 38:07Speaker 1: like idiot, and I lost twenty four thousand dollars. Sunday
- 38:12Speaker 1: Chargers at Patriots.
- 38:13Speaker 3: Let's go Patriots, diehard?
- 38:17Speaker 1: Okay, we need them. I'll go Patriots, Bills and Jags.
- 38:24Speaker 1: I'm going Bills. I'm going at Josh Allen. Yeah, same,
- 38:27Speaker 1: that's it.
- 38:28Speaker 3: I feel like the Bills need this one. I feel
- 38:31Speaker 3: like this is the Bill's year.
- 38:32Speaker 5: So yes, like Cowboys.
- 38:35Speaker 3: No, I just feel like the Bills for the first
- 38:37Speaker 3: time don't have the Chiefs in the way, you know,
- 38:39Speaker 3: so they can do it this time.
- 38:41Speaker 1: Forty nine Ers at Eagles. I'm surprised at Eagles. And again, no,
- 38:45Speaker 1: we're not talking spread, so I'm surprised the Eagles are
- 38:46Speaker 1: four and a half point favorite. I get it. The
- 38:48Speaker 1: forty nine ers have lost their stars on defense, but
- 38:50Speaker 1: they've been gone for a while for defense does suck?
- 38:54Speaker 1: Forty nine ers of the Eagles. I'm going forty nine
- 38:55Speaker 1: Ers Yeah, same, Yeah, I could also have a massive
- 38:59Speaker 1: future on them. Yeah, so we had so probably my
- 39:01Speaker 1: heart talking there. Oh that's what you meant by heart earlier.
- 39:03Speaker 3: The heart?
- 39:04Speaker 5: Yes, yeah, forty nine ers really yeah.
- 39:07Speaker 1: Brandon say forty Eddie, please pick the Eagles.
- 39:10Speaker 3: This hurts me, but I don't have to pick one guy,
- 39:13Speaker 3: got perfect.
- 39:13Speaker 4: Let's go.
- 39:14Speaker 1: We're all good then, Texas and Steelers on Monday Night.
- 39:18Speaker 5: Yeah, Houston Texans.
- 39:20Speaker 3: You gotta go Texans.
- 39:21Speaker 1: I'm going with the Steelers. I feel like that's such
- 39:25Speaker 1: a slam dunk Texans win, but I think I think
- 39:27Speaker 1: the Steelers can do it. Is it is in Pittsburgh.
- 39:29Speaker 3: The Steelers got so lucky to be there.
- 39:31Speaker 5: They're so hard to watch.
- 39:33Speaker 1: They won the games they needed to win.
- 39:35Speaker 3: I know, it's just they wouldn't have been ugly division.
- 39:37Speaker 1: I mean, that's what it was. Same thing with the Panthers.
- 39:39Speaker 1: That's the ugliest division.
- 39:40Speaker 3: Ugly kick is what it was.
- 39:42Speaker 1: Yeah, that sucked. Now let's get over to former Ohio
- 39:45Speaker 1: State and NFL running back Beanie Wells. Beanie played for
- 39:48Speaker 1: Ohio State from six to eight. Had sixteen thousand yards rushing.
- 39:52Speaker 1: That's that's right, right. The comment was putting the wrong
- 39:55Speaker 1: place on this, but it's sixteen thousand yards rushing, right,
- 39:57Speaker 1: that's got to be it is that it fifteen There's
- 40:01Speaker 1: no way that's all. There's no way that's the type
- 40:03Speaker 1: on me. Okay, one million, six hundred thousand yards rush.
- 40:06Speaker 3: That's better.
- 40:07Speaker 1: Yeah, we got it. Now, how many yards Beanie Wells
- 40:09Speaker 1: have leave this in? By the way, of course, fifteen touchdowns?
- 40:15Speaker 1: Maybe he just had sixteen sixteen hundred yards and fifteen
- 40:17Speaker 1: touchdowns and twenty two thousand and seven. Yeah, that's what
- 40:20Speaker 1: it was.
- 40:20Speaker 5: Sixteen hundred yards.
- 40:21Speaker 1: Screw it. He had sixteen thousand rushing yards and I
- 40:24Speaker 1: saw six that way. Yeah. He was drafted by the
- 40:26Speaker 1: Cardinals thirty first overall. He set the Cardinals director with
- 40:28Speaker 1: two hundred twenty eight yards in a game. You can
- 40:30Speaker 1: now follow him on Twitter at Beanie Wells twenty six
- 40:33Speaker 1: to keep up with this work. Let's talk with him
- 40:35Speaker 1: now here. He is Beanie Wells. Hey, Beanie, I was
- 40:38Speaker 1: checking out your podcast, which is it's on Ohio State
- 40:41Speaker 1: right called The Script.
- 40:42Speaker 4: Yes, yep.
- 40:43Speaker 1: So what what's interesting to me is I want to
- 40:45Speaker 1: play it in this basketball like camp once as an adult.
- 40:48Speaker 1: So it's like guys just trying to like relive whatever
- 40:51Speaker 1: shred of athleticism they had back in the day. And
- 40:54Speaker 1: your partner, Cardlal Jones was in it too, and he
- 40:57Speaker 1: dominated everybody. It was so annoying. He was dunking. He
- 41:02Speaker 1: I just want to say that, tell him that when
- 41:04Speaker 1: he came to Arkansas and played that basketball, he was
- 41:06Speaker 1: dunking on everybody and I was like, man, you guys
- 41:08Speaker 1: just don't lose it. Do you still have that twitch
- 41:10Speaker 1: in you as well?
- 41:11Speaker 7: I don't. I wish I did. I can tell you
- 41:13Speaker 7: one thing about Cardell. Anytime he's in any type of competition,
- 41:16Speaker 7: you know he's going to go full force no matter
- 41:18Speaker 7: who he's going against. There was a situation to where,
- 41:21Speaker 7: you know, he was at the Ohio State James Hospital
- 41:23Speaker 7: visiting kids that had cancer and one of the kids
- 41:26Speaker 7: wanted to play Men Madden. In that Madden game, Cardio
- 41:30Speaker 7: took no prisoners. He beat the kid like seventy to nothing.
- 41:33Speaker 7: It's most ridiculous thing in the world.
- 41:36Speaker 1: Well, I appreciate the time. Everybody check out the script.
- 41:39Speaker 1: It's podcast on Ohio State. Hey, what did you say?
- 41:41Speaker 1: What were your takeaways from that game against Miami.
- 41:43Speaker 3: Oh?
- 41:43Speaker 4: It was brutal.
- 41:44Speaker 7: It was very brutal. I mean in Miami they were
- 41:46Speaker 7: so dominant the point of contact. You have to love
- 41:49Speaker 7: the pass rus that they have in Reuben Bann and
- 41:51Speaker 7: the key messador buff for Ohio State. You know, as
- 41:54Speaker 7: a former Buckeye and as a Buckeye fan watching that game,
- 41:57Speaker 7: I was kind of in dismay the fact that we
- 41:59Speaker 7: couldn't pick up the blitz. We couldn't figure out ways
- 42:02Speaker 7: to get the ball out quick and manufacture some type
- 42:04Speaker 7: of offense on a consistent basis. It was dis hardening
- 42:07Speaker 7: to see because I thought this was a year Ohio
- 42:09Speaker 7: State was trending in that Georgia type direction to where
- 42:12Speaker 7: they'd be making a statement as being back to back
- 42:14Speaker 7: national championships and going on and you know, making a
- 42:17Speaker 7: run to create this dynasty. But unfortunately they came up short,
- 42:20Speaker 7: but Miami played their tails off.
- 42:22Speaker 1: You played for coach Trussell, But can you give me
- 42:24Speaker 1: some maybe some some commentary on Ryan Day and why
- 42:28Speaker 1: you think he is the guy for Ohio State.
- 42:32Speaker 4: I love Ryande.
- 42:32Speaker 7: I think he's the perfect mix between Jim Trussell and
- 42:35Speaker 7: irber Meyer.
- 42:37Speaker 4: He can be a feiighty guy.
- 42:38Speaker 7: He comes across as a very nice individual, but you know,
- 42:41Speaker 7: behind closed doors, he gets after his players. He makes
- 42:44Speaker 7: sure that those guys are prepared. And you know, one
- 42:47Speaker 7: of the things that he has that a lot of
- 42:49Speaker 7: people don't get a chance to see is that edge.
- 42:51Speaker 7: That edge to you know, make sure guys are in
- 42:53Speaker 7: the right mental space because he is He's going to
- 42:56Speaker 7: be and he's preaching that to his players on a
- 42:58Speaker 7: consistent basis. But then when you go look at that
- 43:00Speaker 7: the ex's no's Ryan days, teams are always prepared, and
- 43:03Speaker 7: you know him being a former offensive coordinator, he dials
- 43:06Speaker 7: up offenses with the best. Now, unfortunately versus Miami it
- 43:09Speaker 7: didn't show. But when you go look at this track record,
- 43:12Speaker 7: you know he's always had Ohio State in contention to
- 43:15Speaker 7: win a national championship down the stretch at the end
- 43:17Speaker 7: of the year. And I think that's what you want
- 43:19Speaker 7: out of a coach, to have your team in it
- 43:21Speaker 7: in the thick of things when it matters most, and
- 43:23Speaker 7: he's done just that.
- 43:24Speaker 1: I want to ask one other Ohio State question. And
- 43:27Speaker 1: you played with Brian Hartline and then he obviously was
- 43:30Speaker 1: coaching on the staff. He just took over the job
- 43:32Speaker 1: at USF. What do you think about him as a
- 43:35Speaker 1: head coach? What did you think about hims a player?
- 43:36Speaker 1: Can you give me both of those?
- 43:37Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 43:38Speaker 7: No, the Heartline is an overachiever as a player, and
- 43:41Speaker 7: he's one of those.
- 43:42Speaker 4: Guys that's always going to have an edge.
- 43:43Speaker 7: He always played with a chip on the shoulder and
- 43:46Speaker 7: that was the same way that you saw him coaching
- 43:48Speaker 7: at Ohio State. You know, you saw him go out
- 43:50Speaker 7: and be able to go and get the four and
- 43:52Speaker 7: five stars guys at the receiver position at an insane clip,
- 43:55Speaker 7: but not only get those.
- 43:56Speaker 4: Guys, but develop them.
- 43:57Speaker 7: You talk about his track record of a who's who
- 44:00Speaker 7: in the National Football League right now, you talk about
- 44:02Speaker 7: a Mecca and BUCA. You know, the list goes on,
- 44:05Speaker 7: Chris Wilson, Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson.
- 44:07Speaker 4: I mean, the list goes on and on. Mart Harrison Junior.
- 44:10Speaker 7: He developed all of those guys, and it's doing part
- 44:13Speaker 7: to the edge and the chip on his shoulder that he.
- 44:15Speaker 4: Always had and that dates back to high school.
- 44:18Speaker 7: Hardline felt like he was a guy that was overlooked,
- 44:20Speaker 7: even though he did in getting our scholarship to go
- 44:22Speaker 7: to Ohio State. He felt like there were a lot
- 44:24Speaker 7: of guys always talked about more than him. So he
- 44:26Speaker 7: approaches the game from a different perspective, like his back
- 44:30Speaker 7: is against the wall, and I think he's going to
- 44:31Speaker 7: do a heck of a job down there.
- 44:32Speaker 4: USF.
- 44:33Speaker 3: What about you.
- 44:33Speaker 1: Growing up an Acron did you feel like you had
- 44:35Speaker 1: to go to Ohio State?
- 44:36Speaker 4: Initially? I did.
- 44:37Speaker 7: Growing up, I had family and there's a small portion
- 44:40Speaker 7: of Acron that are Michigan fans, So you know, you
- 44:43Speaker 7: have people that are Michigan fans and that you know,
- 44:47Speaker 7: growing up in the nineties, ohiose they didn't farewell versus
- 44:49Speaker 7: the University of Michigan. So me being a Buckeye fan,
- 44:52Speaker 7: I was like, you know what, I gotta go and
- 44:54Speaker 7: avenge some of this. So when I got the opportunity
- 44:57Speaker 7: to go to ohiose that it was certainly the case
- 44:59Speaker 7: that I started for our wanted to go. Growing up
- 45:00Speaker 7: a fan and not seeing them beat the arts rival,
- 45:03Speaker 7: you had a nascy tation in Mouth. But there was
- 45:05Speaker 7: a situation to where, you know, as I'm being recruited,
- 45:07Speaker 7: I take a trip out to Los Angeles and you know,
- 45:10Speaker 7: go visit USC when Pete Carroll is, you know, dominating
- 45:13Speaker 7: college football.
- 45:14Speaker 4: And there was a brief moment in.
- 45:16Speaker 7: Me that was going to USC because I mean, what
- 45:19Speaker 7: sixteen seventeen year old kid doesn't love the lights of
- 45:22Speaker 7: Los Angeles, especially when you got the USC.
- 45:25Speaker 4: Who's running the world out there.
- 45:26Speaker 7: There's no professional football team, so those guys Matt Lioner,
- 45:29Speaker 7: Reggie Bush, Dwayne Jarrett, those guys were it in that town.
- 45:33Speaker 7: So you know, there was a small portion of me
- 45:35Speaker 7: that was going to USC when I went out there
- 45:37Speaker 7: on my visit.
- 45:37Speaker 1: Did you ever committ to you? S see?
- 45:38Speaker 4: I did, I really did.
- 45:41Speaker 3: So.
- 45:41Speaker 7: Crazy thing is I committed to USC while I was
- 45:43Speaker 7: still committed Ohio State. But my mom shut that down
- 45:46Speaker 7: so quick. My mom got the I literally called my parents.
- 45:49Speaker 7: We're off the breakfast with Coach Carroll, and I'm like,
- 45:53Speaker 7: I'm com coming here. I'm telling him I'm going there.
- 45:54Speaker 7: I called my parents, my mom and my dad, and
- 45:57Speaker 7: my dad I tell them I'm going to USC.
- 45:59Speaker 4: He chuckles. He passes the phone.
- 46:01Speaker 7: To my mom and I say I'm going to USC,
- 46:03Speaker 7: and then she gives me an ear full and says,
- 46:05Speaker 7: give Coach Carroll the phone. And all I see is
- 46:08Speaker 7: face starting to turn red. And I'm like, well, what
- 46:11Speaker 7: did she say to you? She said, take you back
- 46:13Speaker 7: to the airport immediately. So that was my short, brief,
- 46:16Speaker 7: ten minute commitment to USC.
- 46:19Speaker 1: Where else did you visit?
- 46:20Speaker 4: So I didn't go to a lot of places.
- 46:22Speaker 7: I went to the University of Michigan, went to Ohio State,
- 46:25Speaker 7: and USC. That was it, you know. Once I committed
- 46:28Speaker 7: to Ohio State, it was a kind of a deal
- 46:31Speaker 7: between me and coach Trussell. Well, you can go to
- 46:32Speaker 7: one more place to visit and see what you like.
- 46:35Speaker 7: And you know, I think he kind of knew my
- 46:36Speaker 7: parents wouldn't let me go all the way across the
- 46:39Speaker 7: world to go to college, so he was like, yeah,
- 46:40Speaker 7: go visit usc goes check out what LA has to offer.
- 46:43Speaker 4: And that was the one other place that I went.
- 46:45Speaker 1: I still think I have a bit of brand bias
- 46:48Speaker 1: unfairly against Indiana, even after watching them be awesome, be dominant.
- 46:52Speaker 1: I've just seen them for so many years not be
- 46:54Speaker 1: I mean I've not seen a coach like Signetti come
- 46:57Speaker 1: in and completely shift a program in two years like
- 46:59Speaker 1: he has there Indiana, they are the favorite to win
- 47:02Speaker 1: the whole thing. What do you see from them that
- 47:04Speaker 1: makes them so strong?
- 47:05Speaker 4: I mean they are complete football team.
- 47:06Speaker 7: You know, we talk so much about, you know, Fernanda Mendoza,
- 47:09Speaker 7: but you know it's not just Fananda Mendoza and what
- 47:11Speaker 7: he's able to do in the past game.
- 47:13Speaker 4: They have a great offensive line.
- 47:14Speaker 7: They got a two headed monster, you know, and blacking
- 47:17Speaker 7: him be in the running back at the running backs position.
- 47:20Speaker 7: But then on the defensive side, I mean, they get
- 47:22Speaker 7: pressure like no other team in the country, and they're
- 47:25Speaker 7: not talked about because there isn't that one dominant pass
- 47:27Speaker 7: rusher that you see winning all the college football awards.
- 47:30Speaker 7: I mean, they're complete football team. And you know, it's
- 47:32Speaker 7: been nothing short of amazing to watch a coach coming
- 47:34Speaker 7: to a program that has been essential doormat for college
- 47:38Speaker 7: football for so many years and resurrected and not only resurrected,
- 47:41Speaker 7: but resurrected to the point in which he's had them
- 47:43Speaker 7: in the highest points in college football, the College Football
- 47:46Speaker 7: Playoff the last couple of years, and I think they're
- 47:48Speaker 7: probably going to win a national championship. I mean this story,
- 47:51Speaker 7: I mean, he's gonna have a statue when it's all
- 47:53Speaker 7: said and done outside in Bloomington, Indiana because of what
- 47:57Speaker 7: he's been able to do there at that program.
- 47:59Speaker 4: But I'm it's been crazy.
- 48:00Speaker 7: I mean, they're so good at every single position, and
- 48:03Speaker 7: it's doing part to one Kerkcineti for him going out
- 48:06Speaker 7: and finding the right guys in the portal. You know,
- 48:08Speaker 7: we hear so many people talk about the portal, but
- 48:11Speaker 7: it's not an exact sign to us. But he most
- 48:13Speaker 7: certainly hasn't figured out because he's getting the right guys
- 48:15Speaker 7: to be able to come into his program and be
- 48:17Speaker 7: able to deliver.
- 48:18Speaker 1: Right now, they're killing in the portal right now, but
- 48:21Speaker 1: fairly because they've been really good the last couple of
- 48:23Speaker 1: years and they can now pitch that with money. But
- 48:26Speaker 1: year one it brought a lot of his JMU guys.
- 48:29Speaker 1: It wasn't that they had a ton of money. It
- 48:31Speaker 1: wasn't that they had established a winning culture that people
- 48:34Speaker 1: knew about. How the heck has he done this?
- 48:36Speaker 7: I mean, I would say it goes back to the
- 48:38Speaker 7: culture in which he had at JMU. He brought in
- 48:40Speaker 7: guys that were familiar with the way that he did things,
- 48:43Speaker 7: guys that were big time playmakers and Loja Zerat is
- 48:46Speaker 7: one of those guys that's still on the roster right
- 48:48Speaker 7: now in Indiana killing it. But when you bring in
- 48:50Speaker 7: guys that understand the way you want to do things,
- 48:54Speaker 7: now as a coach, you don't necessarily have to do
- 48:55Speaker 7: it all on your own because these players can speak
- 48:58Speaker 7: to the locker room, they can speak to the other players,
- 49:00Speaker 7: they can kind of gobbanize and get those guys infatuated
- 49:03Speaker 7: with the way that you do things and knowing that
- 49:05Speaker 7: it's going to lead to the ultimate success because look,
- 49:08Speaker 7: he won at the other programs. And now if I'm
- 49:10Speaker 7: a guy that was on Jmlu's roster, I can tell
- 49:12Speaker 7: him newbie on Indiana's roster, like, all we have to
- 49:15Speaker 7: do is listen and buy it.
- 49:17Speaker 4: And it works.
- 49:18Speaker 7: And when you have other people in the locker room
- 49:20Speaker 7: preaching that same message, I mean, that thing makes everything
- 49:23Speaker 7: cohesively and it makes everything jail so much easier. But
- 49:27Speaker 7: it's crazy, it's wild to see because we haven't seen
- 49:30Speaker 7: anything like it in college football. A guy that come
- 49:32Speaker 7: in from a smaller program go up to the big
- 49:34Speaker 7: leagues essentially and dominate in the fashion in which he's did.
- 49:38Speaker 7: I mean, one of the all time great coaching stories
- 49:40Speaker 7: that we'll see in college football history.
- 49:42Speaker 1: Yeah, it's been odd, but refreshingly odd because and I've
- 49:46Speaker 1: compared it to in a different way, Adrian Peterson bouncing
- 49:48Speaker 1: back from injury so fast that it actually showed you
- 49:50Speaker 1: could do it. And so then fairly or unfairly, people
- 49:53Speaker 1: were trying to match themselves to that standard. Like Adrian
- 49:56Speaker 1: Peterson's back, He's running the ball months after he was injured.
- 49:58Speaker 1: They let people know, now all these coaches are getting
- 50:01Speaker 1: compared to Signetti fairly or unfairly because he came in
- 50:03Speaker 1: and changed that word that's thrown around so much culture.
- 50:07Speaker 1: Have you been and I don't want you to say
- 50:08Speaker 1: any name if you don't want to. Have you been
- 50:10Speaker 1: in bad cultures before?
- 50:12Speaker 4: Yeah, one hundred percent.
- 50:13Speaker 7: You know, when you play football, we played any sport
- 50:16Speaker 7: for a long period of time, You're going to experience it.
- 50:18Speaker 7: And you know, the one thing that you can't let
- 50:21Speaker 7: happen with the culture is once you start losing the
- 50:24Speaker 7: locker room, you start losing some of your veteran players,
- 50:29Speaker 7: that stuff starts to trickle down, and everybody starts to
- 50:31Speaker 7: kind of, you know, start questioning the system and start
- 50:34Speaker 7: trying to, you know, figure out their own way. And
- 50:36Speaker 7: once you know, people start figuring out their own way,
- 50:39Speaker 7: I mean, nobody's yelling together.
- 50:40Speaker 4: Nobody's together.
- 50:41Speaker 7: So that's the most awful thing that can happen to
- 50:43Speaker 7: a program, is you lose the locker room and you
- 50:45Speaker 7: lose your veteran leadership.
- 50:47Speaker 4: That can go south really quick.
- 50:49Speaker 1: Let's talk about the portal. I feel like it's a
- 50:51Speaker 1: wild West. I'm sure you do too. That the story
- 50:54Speaker 1: that I was thinking about this morning was the Williams kid,
- 50:57Speaker 1: the quarterback at Washington, and you know, he signs four
- 51:00Speaker 1: million bucks a year, they've pretty much said that's what
- 51:02Speaker 1: it was. Now, he signed the paper work, and then
- 51:03Speaker 1: now it's like, hey, uls, she was offered him six
- 51:05Speaker 1: so he wants to go to LSU now, And that
- 51:06Speaker 1: is just's that's representative of kind of what's happening now.
- 51:10Speaker 1: I mean, it is definitely on the polar side of
- 51:11Speaker 1: it if somebody who signs and then probably gets poached
- 51:14Speaker 1: and said, hey, we'll give you even more money. Like,
- 51:16Speaker 1: what are your thoughts in general on what the porter?
- 51:18Speaker 1: I think players should be paid, first of all, I
- 51:20Speaker 1: think absolutely players should be paid, but there's got to
- 51:24Speaker 1: be some sort of boundary, right one hundred percent.
- 51:28Speaker 4: I mean, I honestly think they should be paid as well.
- 51:31Speaker 7: But when we talk about you know, guys, you know,
- 51:33Speaker 7: agreeing to something and then you know, all of a
- 51:35Speaker 7: sudden voting thinking they're gonna get more dollars and going
- 51:38Speaker 7: to greener pastors, I mean, I think that's where we
- 51:41Speaker 7: have to, you.
- 51:41Speaker 4: Know, get this thing reeled in a little bit. And
- 51:43Speaker 4: obviously on one end.
- 51:44Speaker 7: We see it with coaches too, because coaches, you know,
- 51:46Speaker 7: can leave and go to a different program for more dollars,
- 51:50Speaker 7: I e.
- 51:50Speaker 4: Langkiff and ole Miss.
- 51:52Speaker 7: But nonetheless, I mean when it comes to the portal,
- 51:55Speaker 7: we don't necessarily even talk about the fact that a
- 51:57Speaker 7: lot of these kids, if you don't pan out after
- 52:00Speaker 7: that one year, you may be pushed back into the portal.
- 52:03Speaker 7: So I think, you know, there has to be some collecting,
- 52:05Speaker 7: collective bargaining agreement that is in place for these guys
- 52:09Speaker 7: and not only protect the players, but protect the university,
- 52:11Speaker 7: because if I shell out, you know, four million dollars,
- 52:14Speaker 7: I want to know that this guy is going to
- 52:16Speaker 7: be committed to this program, will not leave me after
- 52:18Speaker 7: a year and after he has a great year, just
- 52:21Speaker 7: because the program says we're going to give him two
- 52:23Speaker 7: more million dollars. Now, let it be a situation to
- 52:25Speaker 7: Rock can come and necessarily up my contract that I'm
- 52:29Speaker 7: offering a kid before he says, you know what, I'm
- 52:31Speaker 7: leaving and going elsewhere.
- 52:32Speaker 4: I don't like that standpoint of it. I think there
- 52:34Speaker 4: needs to be some rules.
- 52:35Speaker 7: To rein it in on both phases to protect both
- 52:38Speaker 7: the player and the university, because nobody wants to be
- 52:41Speaker 7: left in the dark, and then in the flip side,
- 52:43Speaker 7: nobody wants to be pushed out if I don't necessarily
- 52:45Speaker 7: live up to the contract you gave me the year before, you.
- 52:48Speaker 1: Bring up something really interesting, and I think we saw
- 52:50Speaker 1: with the receiver at Texas who is now going to Oklahoma.
- 52:53Speaker 1: He basically said, hey, I was pushed out. Like it's
- 52:56Speaker 1: it's not all just players going hey, I want to
- 52:58Speaker 1: leave for more. Some point, players are getting in the
- 53:00Speaker 1: portal because the coaches are going, we don't have a
- 53:03Speaker 1: spot for you anymore. You got to get in the portal.
- 53:05Speaker 1: And I think there has to be something there too,
- 53:07Speaker 1: right to protect players.
- 53:08Speaker 4: Have no question about it.
- 53:09Speaker 7: I mean, just imagine if you are, you got a kid,
- 53:12Speaker 7: and you trusting You're trusting a coach and a program
- 53:15Speaker 7: to say, you know what, my son's going to commit
- 53:17Speaker 7: to you, and we're going to expect you to go
- 53:19Speaker 7: develop my son not only to be a great football player,
- 53:22Speaker 7: to be a great young man, to be a great student.
- 53:24Speaker 7: And then all of a sudden, the program isn't winning
- 53:27Speaker 7: and we're trying to figure out ways as a program
- 53:30Speaker 7: to go out and get players that are going to
- 53:32Speaker 7: help us win. Right now, your son is going to
- 53:35Speaker 7: be exiled because he is a player that's making an
- 53:37Speaker 7: impact right now because he didn't develop soon enough.
- 53:40Speaker 4: Like I don't want that. I wouldn't want that as
- 53:42Speaker 4: a parent. I mean nobody would.
- 53:44Speaker 7: So you know, you have to put in some rules
- 53:46Speaker 7: and parameters to protect these student athletes. If we're still
- 53:49Speaker 7: going to call them student athletes, right, if you're still
- 53:51Speaker 7: going to have the expectation, see for these guys to
- 53:53Speaker 7: go to school and go to class and to be students,
- 53:58Speaker 7: you still have to protect him some way in former fashion.
- 54:01Speaker 7: I don't want my kid to be pushed out just
- 54:03Speaker 7: because he is a producer right now for you, because
- 54:05Speaker 7: he's still a young kid.
- 54:07Speaker 4: He still needs time to develop.
- 54:08Speaker 7: He knows he needs to figure out how to be
- 54:10Speaker 7: a student athlete but also be a young adult in
- 54:13Speaker 7: the same sense. And it's not easy, especially in this
- 54:15Speaker 7: day and age, in this climate where it's become more
- 54:17Speaker 7: about winning and dollars than anything.
- 54:19Speaker 1: The timing of the portal opening is terrible. I think
- 54:22Speaker 1: everybody agrees on that. I mean, you have running backs
- 54:24Speaker 1: at Oregon hopping in the portal. They're still in the tournament.
- 54:28Speaker 1: If you were the commissioner of college football, like, what
- 54:32Speaker 1: is the one thing you would do with the portal
- 54:34Speaker 1: to at least give it some sort of semblance of
- 54:38Speaker 1: it being collective and unified and working.
- 54:41Speaker 7: Not even just with the portal, but I think just
- 54:43Speaker 7: with everything that we've experienced this year with college football,
- 54:46Speaker 7: from the coaching changes to the portal to signing Day,
- 54:52Speaker 7: I think we need to bump this thing up. We
- 54:53Speaker 7: need to move the schedule up to where it's a
- 54:56Speaker 7: clearcut date to where we're going to be done by,
- 54:58Speaker 7: to where the por opens after the season and you
- 55:02Speaker 7: can take a new job after the college football season.
- 55:04Speaker 7: Make this thing done in the early part of January
- 55:07Speaker 7: to where we're not faced with these situations, to where
- 55:10Speaker 7: a Lane Kiffin has to decide on if I can
- 55:12Speaker 7: finish up my college football season where I'm mad at
- 55:15Speaker 7: Old Miss and still be able to take a job
- 55:17Speaker 7: elsewhere and finish up a recruiting class, or go out
- 55:20Speaker 7: and get the portal guys that I need to help
- 55:22Speaker 7: me for the following season. So I think it's a
- 55:25Speaker 7: whole college football issue. It's not just a porter issue.
- 55:27Speaker 7: But they most certainly have to fix this calendar if
- 55:30Speaker 7: they don't want these issues to continue to be a
- 55:32Speaker 7: problem and for us to face. We're sitting here talking
- 55:35Speaker 7: about this issues next year.
- 55:36Speaker 4: We can't.
- 55:37Speaker 7: It's too much money at stake. It's too much at
- 55:39Speaker 7: stake for this to be an issue when it's a
- 55:41Speaker 7: simple fix.
- 55:42Speaker 1: Ole Miss is playing with their new head coach, but
- 55:45Speaker 1: obviously he wasn't the head coach all year, and they're
- 55:47Speaker 1: old coaches at LSU right now, and that makes me
- 55:49Speaker 1: root for Ole Miss. I would love to see All
- 55:51Speaker 1: Miss with I'm not a Miss fan, as a matter
- 55:52Speaker 1: of fact, I don't like Ole Miss because I'm an
- 55:54Speaker 1: Arkansas guy. But I'm rooting for hole Mess because I
- 55:57Speaker 1: would love to see Lane Kiffin leave for a team
- 56:00Speaker 1: he thinks can win a national championship and watch his
- 56:02Speaker 1: team win a national championship. As someone who doesn't live
- 56:04Speaker 1: in SC country, what are your feelings on Old Mess?
- 56:06Speaker 1: Are you rooting for them or against them?
- 56:08Speaker 2: Gee?
- 56:09Speaker 4: I'm routed for Old Miss, no question about it.
- 56:11Speaker 7: I think it's like between Indiana and Old Miss, they're
- 56:14Speaker 7: the best stories in college football, right. I mean, I
- 56:17Speaker 7: honestly couldn't believe Lane Kiffin decided to vote and go
- 56:20Speaker 7: to LSU when he shown right now you couldn't win
- 56:24Speaker 7: an Old Miss. You can get the guys you can
- 56:26Speaker 7: get the players, and they're essentially going to give you
- 56:29Speaker 7: the money to go out and get more.
- 56:31Speaker 4: Players and give you everything that you need.
- 56:33Speaker 7: At you're disposed to win, and you decide to go
- 56:35Speaker 7: to a program at LSU where the expectation is going
- 56:37Speaker 7: to be so much higher.
- 56:39Speaker 4: It didn't make sense to me. It didn't make sense.
- 56:41Speaker 7: At the end of the season this year, he would
- 56:43Speaker 7: have had a statue at Old Miss and been riding
- 56:47Speaker 7: high forever, and then he would have been able to
- 56:48Speaker 7: go out and get recruits at a high rate that
- 56:51Speaker 7: he wasn't before at Old Miss.
- 56:53Speaker 4: I mean, it just made no sense.
- 56:55Speaker 7: The issue that I have, especially with him going to LSU,
- 56:58Speaker 7: if he doesn't win in three or four years, he's
- 57:00Speaker 7: going to be on the hot seat and he's going
- 57:02Speaker 7: to be scratching his head saying did I make the
- 57:04Speaker 7: right decision? Hell, he may even be scratching his head
- 57:06Speaker 7: at the end of the year LSU or Ole Miss
- 57:07Speaker 7: wins a national championship saying if I made the right decision.
- 57:11Speaker 1: Carnel Te just said he's going to the NFL. What
- 57:13Speaker 1: advice do you give new guys going in from what
- 57:15Speaker 1: your experience was.
- 57:17Speaker 4: One enjoy the process.
- 57:20Speaker 7: You know, you're getting the opportunity to live out a
- 57:21Speaker 7: lifelong dream, so take it for that, but also understand
- 57:26Speaker 7: that this is a business. Understand that there's certain expectations
- 57:29Speaker 7: of you that may be weren't of you at the
- 57:32Speaker 7: college ranks, and you're going into this and you have
- 57:35Speaker 7: to understand that it's a business first, and you are
- 57:38Speaker 7: the captain of your ship, meaning you call the shots.
- 57:41Speaker 4: Don't let you know agent or you know, some.
- 57:44Speaker 7: Marketing guy kind of force you in a certain direction.
- 57:47Speaker 7: Understand the narrative that you want for yourself and the
- 57:50Speaker 7: path that you want to go with your career, and
- 57:52Speaker 7: that you are at the Ham. You're the captain of
- 57:54Speaker 7: this boat and you drive it in a direction that
- 57:56Speaker 7: you want to go in.
- 57:57Speaker 1: I want to ask you a question just about you
- 57:59Speaker 1: in high school because I'm always so interested in guys
- 58:02Speaker 1: who were number one. You were the top running back
- 58:04Speaker 1: out of high school, which is awesome, and yeah, congratulations
- 58:06Speaker 1: on that retro. Was it just wild in the stands
- 58:10Speaker 1: to see all the scouts or all the coaches always there,
- 58:15Speaker 1: or the fan I mean it had to be crazy, right,
- 58:18Speaker 1: Was it about you a lot when you were in
- 58:20Speaker 1: high school?
- 58:21Speaker 7: It was from my junior year to my senior year.
- 58:24Speaker 7: It definitely was, and it was it was a whirlwin.
- 58:27Speaker 7: It was a crazy time. I mean, this is when
- 58:29Speaker 7: you know, recruiting magazines and recruiting pundits were really starting
- 58:33Speaker 7: to get popular, right, so you know, all of those
- 58:35Speaker 7: guys were at the games, and you know, I felt
- 58:37Speaker 7: like after the game, I was doing I don't know,
- 58:39Speaker 7: six seven interviews and then obviously you had the scouts there.
- 58:42Speaker 7: So it was a fun time. It was a wild
- 58:44Speaker 7: time because it was all new to me and my
- 58:47Speaker 7: family for that matter. But nonetheless, it was a great opportunity.
- 58:50Speaker 7: And looking back on that, man, I wish I would
- 58:52Speaker 7: have enjoyed it a little bit more because you really
- 58:55Speaker 7: never know how fast that time period goes. I mean,
- 58:57Speaker 7: you know, I was twenty some add years ago, and
- 58:59Speaker 7: it literally feels like it was yesterday. So I most
- 59:02Speaker 7: certainly wish I would have taken it in and enjoyed
- 59:04Speaker 7: it a little bit more.
- 59:05Speaker 4: But it was a fun time. It was most certainly,
- 59:08Speaker 4: you know, fun seeing Jim Trussell.
- 59:10Speaker 7: Lloyd Carr, the urban mares of the world at your school,
- 59:14Speaker 7: at your game, you know, walking through your halls and
- 59:16Speaker 7: then all of the other kids in the school.
- 59:18Speaker 4: Pointing and seeing, Oh, they're talking to Beanie right there.
- 59:21Speaker 4: It was an amazing time.
- 59:22Speaker 1: Was your mailbox just full?
- 59:24Speaker 4: Yeah, it definitely was.
- 59:26Speaker 7: I mean my mom still has tubs of, you know,
- 59:30Speaker 7: the letters that I got in college, and now my
- 59:32Speaker 7: son's getting an opportunity to read them. And as they're
- 59:34Speaker 7: going through the recruiting ranks, they're comparing their letters to
- 59:36Speaker 7: the letters that I was getting in college.
- 59:38Speaker 4: So it's the fun time.
- 59:39Speaker 1: What advice are you giving them as they're going through
- 59:40Speaker 1: the process.
- 59:41Speaker 4: Oh?
- 59:41Speaker 7: Man, just work, you know, I'm telling them all the time.
- 59:44Speaker 7: Just keep working. I mean, things will come and you know,
- 59:46Speaker 7: you'll end up where you're often supposed to be, But
- 59:48Speaker 7: you have to put in the work because without it,
- 59:50Speaker 7: I mean, you're going to be nothing, and there's always
- 59:52Speaker 7: going to be somebody out working. You are working just
- 59:55Speaker 7: as hard as you think you are, so just keep working.
- 59:58Speaker 1: Nonetheless, let me ask your one final question about the NFL. Obviously,
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: you played in Arizona. You crushed it there. What's happening there?
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: They just fired their coach. I guess what he's talking about. Culture?
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: Did they have it?
- 1:00:07Speaker 4: It doesn't look like it right now. Most certainly.
- 1:00:09Speaker 7: I mean, especially when you're in a situation to where
- 1:00:11Speaker 7: you're running through multiple coaches, you're running through multiple gms
- 1:00:15Speaker 7: and people in the front office.
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: That's a tough task.
- 1:00:18Speaker 7: It's hard to build a culture when you don't have
- 1:00:20Speaker 7: that continuity upstairs in the front office. And I think
- 1:00:23Speaker 7: right now that's what we're seeing. I mean, they're not
- 1:00:25Speaker 7: giving guys a lot of time to win, and that's
- 1:00:27Speaker 7: all it is. International Football League in general. They want
- 1:00:29Speaker 7: to win right now. So you're getting two two to
- 1:00:33Speaker 7: three years to go out and develop a program, build
- 1:00:36Speaker 7: a culture, and expect it to win.
- 1:00:37Speaker 4: And that's a hard task. But it starts in the
- 1:00:39Speaker 4: front office, you know.
- 1:00:41Speaker 7: I think when Steve Kahin was there where he was
- 1:00:42Speaker 7: at the GM position, they were winning games. They were
- 1:00:45Speaker 7: doing a really good job and retaining players and bringing
- 1:00:48Speaker 7: players in from the free agency aspect. And right now
- 1:00:52Speaker 7: they just haven't been able to get it done. And
- 1:00:54Speaker 7: I think it starts upstairs. They have to figure out
- 1:00:56Speaker 7: the right guys and the right pieces to the puzzle.
- 1:00:59Speaker 7: And Bidwill who's the owner. He's a great owner. He's
- 1:01:01Speaker 7: willing to give, you know, the GM and the coaching
- 1:01:04Speaker 7: staff whatever they need to win, but it has to,
- 1:01:07Speaker 7: you know, start with whoever they choose at the GM position.
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: Over on Twitter, Beanie Wells twenty six, Hey, your CBS
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: analysis really good. I don't know how long you've been
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: doing this, but we were coming on. I went to
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: watch a lot of your clips, like you're really coming
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: into it. You enjoy that.
- 1:01:20Speaker 7: Oh, I love it, man, is the best thing in
- 1:01:21Speaker 7: the world for me. I mean, growing up. Obviously I
- 1:01:24Speaker 7: wanted to play in the National Football League. That was
- 1:01:25Speaker 7: a dream of mine. But secondly it was to you know,
- 1:01:28Speaker 7: talk about the sport for a living. And you know,
- 1:01:30Speaker 7: I'm fortunate enough to be able to do that as
- 1:01:32Speaker 7: something that's fun to me because I actually love college football,
- 1:01:35Speaker 7: so it's not even like work to me whatsoever. That's
- 1:01:38Speaker 7: why I'm always honed in and doubting what's going on
- 1:01:41Speaker 7: across the landscape, because I actually enjoy it.
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: I bean you really appreciates the time. Was a big
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: fan of you when you played. And yeah, thanks for
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: coming on with I hope you have a good rest
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: of the day, all right, thank you for having me

- 1:03:04Speaker 1: Before we get to the games tonight, as far as
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: I actually watch them, what do you think about Michael
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: Irvin and Miami Because he's become a bit of the face. Yes,
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: like with his antics and I.
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: Love Michael Irvin, Cowboys Cowboys fan miacke Levin's a cowboy
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: man like I love the dude.
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: It's a little too much to me. Mean, woop belt woopen.
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: I'm talking even like watching the games and between every play,
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: let's see what Michael Irvin thought about that as his
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: own area on the field. You're right, because he runs
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: back and forth and dancing like oh, and he talks
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: to the players. He's almost like Matthew McConaughey has been
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: for the last I don't know how many years Michael,
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: Matthew McConaughey been on that field with Texas to Miami.
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: So he's way worse.
- 1:03:47Speaker 5: So it's more his antics, I'm saying, Like he's much
- 1:03:50Speaker 5: more visible out there. It's more noticeable.
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: Yeah, a little more polarizing too, because he is active, right,
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: McConaughey is not that he's there and people put the
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: camera on him because he's famous. Yeah, Michael Irvin's there
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: and he wants the camera, so he's doing things to
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: keep the camera on him.
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: Because even Ray Lewis is there and yeah, chilling, I'm out.
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: What do you think about him?
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: Yeah, it kind of annoys me a little bit. It
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: annoys me a little bit. It just annoys me when
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: they take like the Taylor Swift stuff was kind of
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: annoying too. Like, We're watching the game and I know
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: Michael Irvin is a huge he went to Miami. He's
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: a huge, you know, supporter of Miami and is the
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: face of Miami. I get it, but I want to
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: watch the game, and I think Michael Irvin takes takes
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: that away from the team that's actually playing the game.
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: You think Travis Kelsey's retiring, Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah, I
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: don't think so why not? I just I just I
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: don't know. I just don't think you go out like
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: that bad. He goes out sour.
- 1:04:54Speaker 4: Well.
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: Now he's also on the drama with his charity.
- 1:04:56Speaker 4: I saw that.
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: They steal money, money laundering.
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: Somewhere of my mind goes so I'm not gonna say
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: and you look it up, because I'm going to give
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: you what I know and this is without reading the
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: articles that I think when they did some investigati of
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: his charities, like forty percent of it went to the
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: actual cause, sixty percent went to the people that were
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: running the charity. And the people that are running charity
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: were like his close And that's not out of the ordinary.
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: No, that's normal.
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: Yeah, but they're going, well, you're a really rich dude,
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: and it's your foundation. We think more money should be
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: going to the charity other than just paying like your
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: people that are your possible friends and family that are
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: running the charity. There's nothing illegal happening. And with most
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: charities that's kind of how it goes. Yeah, I've done
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: pay for the infrastructure.
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: And you yeah, and the people running the charity, the
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: people working for the charity needs to get paid, you know.
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: And so that's kind of it's a weird thought to
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: think that, you know, you have money and some of it,
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: not all of it goes to whatever the cause is
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: because people need to get paid.
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: I think it's really dumb and short sighted when people go, man,
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: this ceo arity, he makes a million dollars a year.
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: That shouldn't happen. But okay, let's say you get somebody
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: that makes fifty thousand dollars a year and the charity
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: makes a million bucks overall. Or you get someone you
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: pay a million bucks that would be running another company
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: and the charity makes seven hundred million dollars because they
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: know what they're doing. Because they know what they're doing, Like,
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: do you actually care about the cause? Because if you did,
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: you wouldn't so much care about how much money somebody
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: makes if they're making more money for the cause. So
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: I always think those people are idiotic. They complained about
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: CEOs of a charity making money because if they weren't
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: doing that, they'd be running a company. Yes, but they
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: go and hire people that run companies well to run
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: this charity.
- 1:06:34Speaker 5: What do you see, Kevin, Yeah, it says about forty
- 1:06:36Speaker 5: one cents of every dollar has gone to the charity,
- 1:06:39Speaker 5: raised in the last couple of years one point five
- 1:06:41Speaker 5: million and spending roughly one.
- 1:06:43Speaker 4: Point one million.
- 1:06:44Speaker 5: And who is running the charity It is a a
- 1:06:47Speaker 5: Anda management group, a firm co founded by Travis Kelsey's
- 1:06:50Speaker 5: longtime business manager.
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: So that's connected to him. To sure, I don't think
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: anything's wrong, but that's the controversy.
- 1:06:58Speaker 4: Now.
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: I don't think there's anything wrong either. I mean, yes,
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: it's a little weird. It sounds weird, right, It sounds
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: weird that more money doesn't go to the actual cause
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: of the charity. But I understand it, so it's not weird.
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: Ex Amplified though, because it's Travis Kelcey and he's at
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: Taylor Swift and he's also a really rich guy. And
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: you're like, well, why don't you just pay the people
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: to run the charity because you have millions and millions
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: of dollars?
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: What do you think about that?
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: I think it's unfair to judge him because he's differently
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: because of the accomplishments and the success that he's had.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: I agree, Yeah, I think they're running the charity as
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: the charity should be run. From what I know, I
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: know very little. A lot of I haven't been in
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: the books. Give me the books. I'll get in the
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: Boo book.
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: Give me a week with the books, give me the book.
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: We'll see how I come out. But yeah, I I
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: tend to think if Mahomes is healthy enough to come
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: back at the beginning of next year, you'll come back,
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: that he may come back as well. It is an
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: ugly way to leave Yeah, this is a bad year,
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: bad taste in your mouth, sour out.
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: When's the wedding? Who knows? There's no date.
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: My invitation says, pull it up, rand and open for
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: Taylor Swift.
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: Yeah that's right. Yes, he did the Red Tour right.
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: Oh yeah, we're not kidding. No, not a jokey Yeah,
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: but you're making it sound like we're kidding. Yeah.
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: What was she like, dude?
- 1:08:13Speaker 6: She was awesome. Yeah, I mean everything everybody says. You know,
- 1:08:18Speaker 6: sweet kind takes care of everybody.
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: Would you talk to you in person? Like, look at you?
- 1:08:22Speaker 3: I mean, hey, Brandon, I.
- 1:08:27Speaker 6: I think she got my name wrong a few times,
- 1:08:29Speaker 6: but I didn't care. But by the end of it,
- 1:08:30Speaker 6: she knew it.
- 1:08:31Speaker 5: Hey, let's go on, Braxton Braiden.
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: That's cool though, that's awesome.
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: Yeah, who's the favorite? When the Super Bowl? According of
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: the odds? Eddie, I know you haven't seen it, so
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: I have.
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: Not seen it. I'm going to guess. I'm going to guess.
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: The bills No, no, no, no, no, no, bad they're
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: plus eleven hundred, Dan, that's so you should bet on that.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: Det that's a really good I got a little bit
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: on them as a future.
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I did two like a couple months ago.
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: The Seahawks is the favorite, yeah, plus three twenty. The
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: Rams are second plus four hundred, and I think if
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: the Rams win this week that will probably even itself out.
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: I think the Seahawks are getting that slight edge because
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: they have a bye week.
- 1:09:18Speaker 5: Yeah, and the home field they're out.
- 1:09:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: The Broncos at three, the Patriots at four plus nine hundred,
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: But the big gap is between the Rams and the Broncos.
- 1:09:28Speaker 5: It goes from what did you say?
- 1:09:29Speaker 9: Three plus three hundred nine hundred plus six fifty is
- 1:09:31Speaker 9: the Broncos, Patriots, Eagles, Buffalo, Jacksonville, Houston, Green Bay, Chicago,
- 1:09:38Speaker 9: San Francisco, the Chargers, the Steelers and Panthers are at
- 1:09:42Speaker 9: plus twenty thousand.
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: Dang, that's a nice payout.
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: Okay, what is that? Just a update? Because I haven't
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: seen it, and you have what do we own? Our
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: Skins league going to the playoffs?
- 1:09:51Speaker 5: Boys, you did the math and no, I didn't do
- 1:09:54Speaker 5: the math. We just looked at that math forty nine hundred.
- 1:09:59Speaker 3: For word down before the postseason.
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: So basically five grand, which would mean I owe twenty five.
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: You guys ow twelve to fifty each We need the
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: Patriots to win to only lose like one hundred bucks
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: this week.
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: Okay, just this week, but if they lose, we lose
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: like six hundred six to seven hundred buck and then
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: we stop making money. Yeah, yeah, we're done.
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: But we don't make money in the first two weeks.
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: We're just trying to stay even. They need to win
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: so we don't lose money the first two weeks. Okay,
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: the only thing that makes me feel better is we're
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: not the We don't owe the biggest.
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: That doesn't make me feel better.
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: What's that number right now?
- 1:10:32Speaker 5: That's seventy nine hundred.
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: Ay yay yaye.
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: Oh my goodness, dude, that would sting.
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: If the Patriots. Just doing some math for you guys
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: so you can know, I we're forty nine now and
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: there are what six games.
- 1:10:46Speaker 3: This weekend?
- 1:10:46Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I think you're talking about the Patriots.
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: So we could basically lose another thousand this week, another
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: thousand the next week if the Patriots lose. So if
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: we lose Patriots win, we're probably even.
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: Okay, so it doesn't matter.
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: Now five hundred, so I would say we could lose
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: that if they lose lose this week we're gonna be
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: down one thousand more after next week, so we could
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: lose another fifteen sixteen hundred bucks. If the Patriots lose
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: a medial, we will Okay, the Patriots lose this week,
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: we're gonna lose another fifteen sixteen hundred buck So it's
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: going to.
- 1:11:19Speaker 5: Be basically it's a eight grand right to be safe.
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: Now, no, probably seven, okay seven for the season.
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: Probably.
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: I would say, oh, yeah, you want super conservative.
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: Yeah no, no, I want real.
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: Well, I can't do the real because I want worst case,
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: the worst case, realistic, seventy five hundred. Okay, we need
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: the Patriots to win or that's gonna be what it
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: is the Panthers, Right, what.
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: About the Panthers winning? What if they win the whole thing?
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: If they win the whole thing, that's gonna save us
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: four hundred bucks.
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: Go all right, it's already impossible.
- 1:11:52Speaker 6: But okay, guys, I know it's January, but should we
- 1:11:55Speaker 6: start a car wash, should be a food drive, any
- 1:12:00Speaker 6: offerings so we could.
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: Lose, let's just say so bad, what's up?
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: That's so bad? Those numbers are bad, like like, and
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: I know everytime you do something like this, you're like oh,
- 1:12:13Speaker 3: there's a chance we can probably owe a lot of money.
- 1:12:15Speaker 3: But I didn't. I wasn't really ready for all that.
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: I wanted us to be like, oh my god, we
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: want ten thousand dollars off this thing.
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: It's awesome and we definitely could have.
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: We could have, we didn't.
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: So if we get to seventy five hundred, each of
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: you guys will owe eighteen hundred bucks basically. Okay, So
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: just say the worst case scenario two thousand dollars.
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: And why didn't Brandon jump on this because he's smart?
- 1:12:40Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:12:41Speaker 5: Remember you wanted to go.
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I was never asked.
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: Here's the question for you guys.
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: You want to jump in new brain take over for me?
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: Maybe next year? Will you guys want to get in
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: next year?
- 1:12:55Speaker 3: I have to think about it.
- 1:12:56Speaker 6: I'll get in next year.
- 1:12:57Speaker 3: Let's see, let's see the damage this year, and then
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: we'll think of it.
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: Shouldn't be that though, you should already know based on
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: what's happening.
- 1:13:03Speaker 3: No, I got to know how much to save all years.
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: Hey, I'll be in next year without a doubt, because
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: if I lose a bunch of this year, I'll probably
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: beat even again. Because that had a couple of good
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: years in a row.
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: There's got to be some conditions.
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: There will be no conditions. No, you can't make conditions.
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: Hear me out. You can't blame me when Joe Burrow
- 1:13:19Speaker 3: gets hurt.
- 1:13:20Speaker 4: We didn't. We made for a hole.
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: We said, we fought about it. And if I also said,
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: if the Bengals win, it's your victory.
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: Yeah, but that wasn't going to happen.
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: But it doesn't matter. I said before Joe Burrow got hurt.
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: If the Bengals end up being a really good team,
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: it's before Burrough got hurt. You're the one that was
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: right the whole time. It wasn't just take the shots
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: that you it was you also get to be the
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: hero too, because you fought for the Bengals over the Packers.
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: Yeah, my crystal ball was foggy.
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: So we are going to do a NCAA Calcutta.
- 1:13:50Speaker 3: I know I saw that email. I don't think I
- 1:13:53Speaker 3: can do that.
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: Those are awesome and you don't close to the damage,
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: but you don't. Yeah maybe for you, maybe maybe, but
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: you don't lose more. There's a limit on your losing.
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: You bid on teams, so you can bid five hundred
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: bucks and get a team. You don't lose any more
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: than what you already pay you.
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: You can sit in the draft and then you're like,
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: all right, I'm gonna do twenty dollars and then you
- 1:14:10Speaker 3: never have a chance to plan.
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: You no team, You get a thirteen seed. But the
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: more your team with, the more money you make.
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, just like let us breathe. I gotta breathe
- 1:14:19Speaker 3: a little bit.
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: I'm not saying that you had to be in I know,
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: I saw the email. My favorite thing is the Calcutta
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: and cuaa Calcutta.
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: It's fun, March madness, it's fun.
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: All right, We're done.
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: Think about that for a little bit.
- 1:14:32Speaker 4: What's up?
- 1:14:33Speaker 3: Think about all that.
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: We need the Patriots to win. We do, Yes, we do,
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: because it will save us a bunch of money.
- 1:14:40Speaker 3: Are there any other teams that we should be rooting
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: for that people have as losers?
- 1:14:46Speaker 4: Well?
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: Yeah, one guy has the seahawkic is a loser, so
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: he's lost a bunch of money. So if they eventually lose,
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: or if they lose, they're money. Well, they're not gonna
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: lose it this week the next week. Yeah, yeah, so
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: because they also get money for winning. If they're all
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: to buy. It's a free money.
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: So they got a win.
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: So they got a win than they earned it.
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: Huh you sure did?
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: All right, We're out. Let's see you guys next week.
