JB: welcome everybody back to Sports Talk with J B and I'm your host J B and today I have two special guests. I got Jason and I have Vincent in the house. In today's show, we're gonna be talking a little bit about the Cowboys, the maps, some moves that's been made in the NFL ⁓ offseason, and also we're gonna have a top five, I call let's I got five on it. So with all that being said, let's hop into the first topic. Jason, let's start with you. How do you feel about the way Jerry Jones is running the Cowboys organization? J: Man, I've never I've never really had much of a problem with the way Jerry Jones runs the team. I feel like as a GM he's done a really good job. He puts ⁓ talent on the field. Usually there's a big name coach. I mean the ratings, the stadiums, the Mert I mean, he does a great job as a businessman, but i i it's just kind of hard to figure out why why they can't get over the hump. JB: Man, I've never I've never really had much of a problem with the way Jerry Jones runs the team. I feel like as a GM he's done a really good job. He puts ⁓ talent on the field. Usually there's a big name coach. I mean the ratings, the stadiums, the merch I mean he does a great job as a businessman. Yeah, I agree. But ⁓ it's just kinda hard to figure out why why they can't get over the hump. What about Vince? I f I feel the same way as Jason actually. a lot of people that don't know Philball say he's a horrible owner. But I mean ⁓ at what he did with Pickens. Parsons is hurt now. You got Quinny Williams, Kenny Clark, Caleb Downs. I mean I'm not a fan of Parsons, so I'm kinda I kinda like that move. ⁓ A lot of people didn't like it. Vincent sparks: I feel the same way as Jason actually. a lot of people that don't know Philball say he's a horrible owner. But I mean, ⁓ at what he did with Pickens. Parsons is hurt now. You got Quinn and Williams, Kenny Clark, Caleb Downs. I mean I'm not a fan of Parsons, so I'm kinda I kinda like that move. A lot of people didn't like it. J: I I wasn't mad about it. JB: I I wasn't mad about it. He started becoming too much of a diva, ⁓ ask me, but I think personally I I agree with both y'all. I think Jerry, man, he he he does he do what he do. He make he's a moneymaker. like he said, no publicity bad publicity is better than no publicity, Jerry is good at what he does man. ⁓ I think a lot of people have a problem with because he's more outspoken than most of the owners, NFL owners. I think that's the problem that a lot of people have. They don't like that he do. ⁓ that's that's what I feel about that opinion. But overall, he's doing his thing, man. He you can't tell an owner of a company to st stay your ass out of the out of your own business. Right. ⁓ Literally. He's been doing this since what, he first bought team in the ⁓ early ninety two. Ninety two. That's he's been doing it since then. ⁓ J: Right. Vincent sparks: Literally. Ninety two. JB: Yeah. All right on move on to the next question. You think can the Cowboys win another another championship with the way Jerry running the team? Vincent sparks: A hundred percent. Yeah, yeah, no, for sure. I mean I like the off season moves he made this year. I I think we got a chance from going the w worst defense in the league to top ten. You got Caleb Downs in the draft, you got Malachi Lawrence, you got ⁓ f fresh and healthy Duron Blanche, Siobon Revel, Overshone, and people don't realize we picked up D Winters, he was a dog with the Niners. JB: A hundred percent. Yeah, yeah, no, for sure. I mean I like the off season moves he made this year. I I think we got a chance from going the w worst defense in the league to top ten. You got Caleb Downs in the draft, you got Malachi Lawrence, you got ⁓ f fresh and healthy Duran Blanche, Siobhan Revel, Overshone. And people don't realize we picked up D Winters, he was a dog with the Niners. Vincent sparks: And then you got Kobe Durant, who is a starter for the Rams. PJ Locke for the Broncos, one of the top defenses in the league. So. JB: And then you got Kobe Durant who's a starter for the Rams. P J Locke for the Broncos, one of the top defenses in the league. So Yeah, I'm I'm I'm with Vince. I think ⁓ I think it they can go become a contender with the team they have, but like we said, it's never been a problem about about talent or I agree or who's on the field or or support or anything like that. I mean, I think ⁓ maybe I'm I'm J: Yeah, I'm I'm w I'm with Vince. I think ⁓ I think they can go become a contender with the team they have, but like we said, it's never been a problem about about talent or or who's on the field or or support or anything like that. Man, I think ⁓ maybe I'm ⁓ I've been around a long time. I don't know if Vincent remembers, but the Cowboys used to do training camp out there in Wichita Falls and JB: I've been around a long time. I don't know if Vincent remembers, but the Cowboys used to do training camp out there in Wichita Falls. And man, since they moved I don't want to say exactly that, but s they move things to Oxnard 'cause it's cooler, it's nicer, the training camps a little softer. I don't think until they bring in ⁓ a coach or maybe maybe that's where Jerry needs to back up a little bit is give the coach some some room to be hard on these guys and ⁓ you know, some of the boys leave there talking about his camp cupcake. J: Man, since they moved I don't wanna say exactly that, but s they move things to Oxnard 'cause it's cooler, it's nicer, the training camps a little softer. I don't think until they bring in a a coach or maybe maybe that's where Jerry needs to back up a little bit is give the coach some some room to be hard on these guys and ⁓ you know, some of the boys leave there talking about his camp cupcake. You know, ⁓ until they really turn the culture around and learn how to win, you know, I I JB: You know, un until they really turn the culture around and learn how to win, you know, I I we could do it with Jerry, but it's gonna take ⁓ you know, letting him letting Shadi be like a Bill Parcells. The the team was a a lot tougher back then. Right. So who who you think while you say the culture, who you think to blame for that? You think Jerry Jones, Steven, or the or the head coach? Or you think it just throughout years the culture just changed since ⁓ wanna say J: We could do it with Jerry, but it's gonna take ⁓ you know, letting him letting Shoddy be like a Bill Parcells. The the team was a a lot tougher back then. JB: Mid of Dak team. It seemed like to since Dak been ⁓ changed a little bit. it go up and down to me, up and down. ⁓ yeah I think the blame is ⁓ Jerry, his way front office or just the coaches. Vincent sparks: I think we could blame Jerry on that. Like what's his name said, someone said the fr the Cowboys facilities like a zoo. You got all these people coming in and out, all that distractions, but I guess that's what comes with being America's team, you know? JB: I think we could blame Jerry on that. Like what's his name said, someone said the pr the Cowboys facilities like a zoo. You got all these people coming in and out, all that distractions, but I guess that's what comes with being America's team, you know? Yeah. And she like they take on a owner's personality like like I was talking about on J: That's every player that's left has said that. JB: ⁓ Micah. ⁓ when he had his show he was outspoken, you get that from the owner of the company. That's how Jerry is, so he pretty much got a little bit of Jerry ⁓ personality in him by you know, Jerry's the leader, so like if my if I know a lot of owners are different, but shit if my own the owner of my team like this and that's what he liked that ⁓ that that publicity, I'm gonna go ahead and do it too. with ya I think ⁓ I'm on Vince, I think Jerry has a a lot a lot to do with that. what's that one move the Cowboys need to make to be ⁓ real considered contenders? Offense defensive move. What what y'all got for that one? J: Man, w like Vince was saying, a lot of a lot of the fans weren't real upset that Micah left just as a as a personality or a teammate or a player. But we do kinda have to replace ⁓ a top notch pass rusher. I think he he talked about who we drafted. I think we did good in the draft. There's gonna be some good role players. ⁓ Overshone's getting healthy. ⁓ Caleb Downs gonna be a monster in the secondary. ⁓ we're we're we're rebuilding that that ⁓ JB: Man, w like Vince was saying, a lot of a lot of the fans weren't real upset that Micah left just as a as a personality or a teammate or a player. But we do kind of have to replace ⁓ a top notch pass rusher. I think he he talked about who we drafted. I think we did good in the draft. There's gonna be some good role players. ⁓ Overshun's getting healthy. ⁓ Caleb Downs gonna be a monster in the secondary. ⁓ we're we're we're rebuilding that that ⁓ that whole defense. The offense has been great, but man, if if they they just need a real dog pass rusher that makes everybody better. And I I don't know where you're gonna get that. I don't know if you're gonna get that in free agency or or hopefully we get one of those in the draft. But I think that's that's that's the thing. If if not a culture change, it's it's gonna be it's gonna be one of them defensive dogs ⁓ up front. J: That whole defense. The offense has been great. But man, if if they they just need a real dog pass rusher that makes everybody better. And I I don't know where you're gonna get that. I don't know if you're gonna get that in free agency or or hopefully we hit one of those in the draft. But I think that's that's that's the thing. If if not a culture change, it's it's gonna be it's gonna be one of them defensive dogs ⁓ up front. Vincent sparks: I agree. I think our offense is solid. I think I'm I mean we can mu the only part we could get a little bit better on offense is get more depth in that running back room. But we need a air dresser. Our corners look so trashed last year because when the quarterback gets six, seven seconds to throw the ball, someone's gonna be open. And that goes to the fact JB: I agree. I I think our offense is solid. I think I'm I mean we can the only part we could get a little bit better on offense is get a more depth in that running back room. But we need a edge Ursher. Our corners look so trashed last year because when the quarterback gets six, seven seconds to throw the ball, someone's gonna be over. And that goes to the fact Vincent sparks: like I'm a fan of Lamar. I don't think he's a five quarterback in the league. JB: like I'm not a fan of Lamar. I don't think he's a five quarterback in the league. Vincent sparks: He runs around, so of course the defense is gonna break down. But true pocket passer, he I don't think he's in the top five for that reason. So we want to be good on defense, we need to get someone who could get to the quarterback, pressure him. And I think we got some guys on the team that could do that. You know, ⁓ Sam Williams is a dog when he's healthy. Ezraku, he's a dog. And we haven't seen Malachi Lawrence yet, but I think he could cause some havoc as well. JB: He runs around, so of course the defense is gonna break down. But true pocket passer, he I don't think he's in the top five for that reason. So if we want to be good on defense, we need to get someone who could get to the quarterback, pressure him. And I think we got some guys on the team that could do that. You know, ⁓ Sam Williams is a dog when he's healthy. Ezraku, he's a dog. ⁓ And we haven't seen Malachi Lawrence yet, but I think he could cause some havoc as well. agree, I agree with y'all on. Pass rush, but that secondary was suspect. It gave up yards. So I I agree with y'all one hundred percent. ⁓ so do y'all think that by Pickens not going to the OTA, you think that I know a lot of people don't take OTA too serious, but to I think you can get that chemistry. ⁓ The more you with your or your team that chemistry comes. Do you think that hurted, the Cowboys offense or Dak and Pickens relationship? Chemistry. Vincent sparks: So I I believe he did end up showing up, right? JB: So I b I believe he did end up showing up, right? Yeah. I don't know if he showed up the whole time, but I know he did he came towards the end. They were surprised he was there. I don't know if he dressed out. I I didn't see all that. ⁓ I mean it kinda leans towards like what Parsons was doing. But he's gotta realize that we took a chance on him. We got him for a third round pick. J: I don't know if he showed up the whole time, but I know he did they were surprised he was there. But I don't know if he dressed out. I I didn't see all that. Vincent sparks: Yeah, he ended it. Yeah. ⁓ I mean it kinda ⁓ leans towards like what Parsons is doing. But he's gotta realize that we took a chance on him. We got him for a third round pick. We gave him a good quarterback to make him look good. But if you go back and look at like the Lions game, if you go and rewatch that game, he ran some of the sloppiest routes ever because we're down. JB: We gave him a good quarterback to make him look good. But if you go back and look at like the Lions game, if you go and rewatch that game, he ran some of the sloppiest routes ever because we were down. ⁓ yes. And if you watch through the season when we're down, he he r starts running these cheap routes. You don't get a contract like that. So you I don't feel like he's proved himself enough to be able to do that. He didn't have the Micah Parsons seasons. J: ⁓ yeah. Vincent sparks: And if you watch through the season when we're down, he he r starts running these cheap routes. You don't get a contract like that. So you I don't feel like he's proved himself enough to be able to do that. He didn't have the micah Parsons seasons. So I don't agree with it. JB: So I don't agree. Yeah, that's why I'm okay with ⁓ the franchise tag right now, to be honest. Just just to see if he can be consistent two years in a row. ⁓ and ⁓ a lot of stuff came out after the season, which it always does, that he was ⁓ a tardiness problem J: Yeah, that's why I'm okay with ⁓ the franchise tag right now, to be honest. Just just to see if he can be consistent two years in a row. ⁓ and a lot of stuff came out after the season, which it always does, that he was ⁓ a tardiness problem and ⁓ a attendance problem, stuff like that. You know. Stuff like that the fans really don't like, especially Cowboys fans and their receivers. Because we already got C D. You know, we got C D and Florino, we got some ro role players and and and Ferg is Ferg is always great, but JB: and ⁓ a attendance problem, stuff like that. You know. Stuff like that the fans really don't like, especially Cowboys fans and their receivers. 'Cause we already got C D. You know, we got C D in Florida, we some ro role players and and ⁓ and Ferg is Fergus always great. But man, I'd really like to see him participate and and really work this ⁓ this franchise tag and and take the opportunity to prove himself, you know, to the fans and to the ownership. I did see those lazy routes, man, that really turned me off to him 'cause there for a minute there for a minute I was kind of ⁓ I was drinking the Kool Aid when they were like, ⁓ man, is is is pickers better than C D. J: man, I'd really like to see him participate ⁓ and really work this ⁓ this franchise tag and and ⁓ the opportunity to prove himself, you know, to the fans and to the ownership. I did see those lazy routes, man, that really turned me off to him 'cause there for a minute there for a minute I was kind of ⁓ I was drinking the Kool-Aid when they like, ⁓ man, is is is Pickens better than C D? You know, and I I s I started to think about him like, ⁓ man, is he better than C D? But JB: You know, and I th I s I started to think about it, I'm like, ⁓ man, is he better than C D? But he turned it off real fast with some of that. But and and that was in in games where C D might have been out. I don't know if he was hurt and he really needed to be the number one guy and we you know, we saw some some bad attitude out of him, but ⁓ if he proves it in ⁓ in the franchise year, you know, I'm all in 'cause he's got all the J: He turned me off real fast with some of that, but and and that was in in games where C D might have been out. I don't know if he was hurt and he really needed to be the number one guy and you know, we saw some some bad attitude out of him, but ⁓ if he proves it in ⁓ in the franchise year, you know, I'm all in 'cause he's got all the talent. JB: talent. Yeah. I was about to say One thing you do is have talent. He to had that that Randy Moss ran frame mind frame where I play when I wanna. And depends that cornerback. If you got like a elite cornerback, ⁓ man, he it he wants throat throat. ⁓ I notice about him. That's when he plays his best games. Yeah, the dude, man, he talented as hell, but like like y'all keep saying them routes, man, you you you want that money and you wanna be considered one of the greatest or the best. You gotta get that all that together. ⁓ yeah, he he's gotta know it's a great move. J: Yeah. He he's gotta know it was a great move to come to Dallas. You know. JB: To come to Dallas. Yeah. That's why you He kinda reminds me of Tio. How T.O. would like to show out whenever it wouldn't go his way. And that's the same way I felt about Parsons. He's a diva. Vincent sparks: He kinda reminds me of Tio. How Teo would like to show out whenever it wouldn't go his way. And that's the same way I felt about Parsons. He's a diva. JB: He he gotta get together, man. You want that contract. This is your money here. And you know Somebody gonna put up with him because he's talented. Yeah. ⁓ so that's just how it goes in the lead. If you talented, they're gonna tolerate it. Yeah, I I think he get ⁓ C D still number one to me receiver. All right. Top three. Y'all got one game to go. Season on the line. ninety ninety yards to go. What quarterback from the Cowboys y'all taking? Roger, Troy, Tony, Dak? J: yeah. Vincent sparks: Top three. JB: I had a third album then. It's not on the list but it's Vincent sparks: Mm-hmm. J: With what do you think? JB: Liz, what do you think? It ain't Aikman. It ain't Tall Hot. Give me Romo. Vincent sparks: It ain't Aikman. It ain't Starbot. Give me Romo. J: Vince a little younger, bro. I knew there was gonna be some Aikman hate from a Cowboy fan, even he's a young guy. back and forth. I'm I'm either hey, I love Romo. Romo's my all-time favorite quarterback. But what you need in those in those situations is your team to be disciplined and be smart. I mean, we've seen Dak mess up those fourth and whatever ⁓ in games and and playoffs. And Aikman's not gonna let himself get Vincent sparks: Give me Roma. JB: Vince a little younger bro. I I knew there was gonna be some Aikman hate from a cowboy fan even. He's a young guy. I'm back and forth. I'm I'm either hey, I love Romo. Romo's my all time favorite quarterback. But ⁓ you need in those in those situations is your team to be disciplined and be smart. I mean, we seen Dak mess up those fourth and whatever ⁓ late in games and and playoffs and ⁓ not gonna let himself get J: Outcoached by his own coach. You know, make make a mistake on the field that he's not gonna make, that he's not supposed to make. And and he's a leader. The guys are gonna do what he says, man. I I I think I gotta go with Aikman, even though I do think Romo, maybe even Dak is a little more talented than than Aikman. I don't know, man. Maybe cause ⁓ I watched those teams. Aikman, Aikman's my guy. JB: out coached by his own coach, you know, make make a mistake on the field that he's not gonna make that he's not supposed to make. And and he's a leader, the guys are gonna do what he says, man. I I I think I gotta go with Aikman, even though I do think Romo maybe even Dak is a little more talented than than Aikman. I don't know, man. Maybe 'cause ⁓ I watch those teams. Aikman Aikman's my guy. Right. I'm see why I lean towards the Romo side of things? Like, yeah, Aikman won three Super Bowls. Vincent sparks: See why I lean towards the Romo side of thing? Like, yeah, Aikman won three Super Bowls, but he also had Emmett Smith behind there. And if you go and look at Aikman's stats, he had ⁓ a hundred forty touchdowns, a hundred and sixty interceptions. JB: But he also had Emmett Smith behind the And if you go and look at Wickman's stats, he had ⁓ a hundred forty touchdowns, a hundred sixty receptions. He had a great team. He had a great team. Yeah, I I'm with I'm with Vince. I'm t I go Tony Romo only because J: It was a yeah. ⁓ yeah, yeah. I mean this you had a great team. He had a great team. JB: Tony was just different to me than I just like his his leadership besides the Seattle fumble had for an extra print. I I like ⁓ Y'all made some good perts, ⁓ he had a behind him, but still, in that final drive, I never saw Aikman crack. he was the, I'm not comparing him to Joe Montana or Brady, but he was, he controlled the game when it counted. And I know that because he went against you're gonna hear me say my team, yeah, I got Eagles, Niners and Saints. What he did against my Eagles and the forty Niners before we got Deion Sanders, the the Niners. I I hated I hated eight. Real. J: Yeah, he's tough. JB: Hey, I will say this though, because Romo had a bad reputation they f for throwing like messing up games at the end, which which I think was was totally false because his his fourth quarter numbers were crazy. J: I will say this though, because Romo had a bad reputation they f for throwing like messing up games at the end, which which I think was was totally false because his his fourth quarter numbers were crazy. When he was in the league, his fourth quarter numbers was better than everybody. So yeah, I mean he's a good pick. You can't you you really can't go wrong unless you pick Quincy Carter. JB: When he was in the league, his fourth quarter numbers was better than everybody. Yep. I saw that. So yeah, I mean he's a good pick. You can't be you really can't go wrong unless you pick Quincy Carter. Yeah, that's the only way. I call him more ⁓ down down bag Quincy Carter. Man, yeah, but Man, they got they are talented all the all across the board. ⁓ only one I'm not able to to comment on is Roger Starback, 'cause he was before my ⁓ I know I was probably born when he was playing, but J: Yeah, it's kinda hard. JB: Can't go wrong on either one of them. jump on over to some of this NBA talk. How do y'all feel about the do you think that the Mav trading away Luca it made did it make the Mavs better or worse for future? J: Man, looking at what was it, Giannis just got traded? And he got loads and loads of you know, players, trades, everything in return. You know, ⁓ over the course of the trade and and the season after, and it's obvious man, we got way worse. We got way worse. ⁓ worse. That even the team that had Luca on it that went to the finals really wasn't that well built yet. JB: Man, looking at what was it, Giannis just got traded? Yeah. And he got loads and loads of you know, players, trades, everything in return. You know, over course of the train and and the season after and it's obvious, man, we got way worse. We got way worse. It immediately worse. That even the team that had Luca on it that went to the finals really wasn't that well built yet. J: You they were kinda young. They got to the finals I think a little early just based on how Luca played. He carried him. But that was one of the worst decisions I've ever seen in sports. I mean, in my opinion. I mean I don't you trade away a guy and granted he's got his flaws. He's probably not very good on defense. I don't think he's as bad as people make him out to be. But w as soon as he was gone, we were trying to figure out who's gonna who has the ball with two seconds to go. JB: You they were kinda young. They got to the finals, I think, a little early, just based on how Luca played, he carried But that was ⁓ of the worst decisions I've ever seen in sports. I mean, in my opinion. I mean I don't you trade away a guy, and granted he's got his flaws, he's probably not very good on defense. I don't think he's as bad as people make him out to be. But ⁓ well, as soon as he was gone, we were trying to figure out who's gonna who has the ball with two seconds to go. J: I love Kyrie but not Kyrie. Definitely not Anthony Davis. So i it was it was bad and maps are way worse. Way worse without him. JB: I love Kyrie but not Kyrie. Definitely not Anthony Davis. So it was it was bad and matters are way worse. Way worse without him. Yeah, I agree. I I think they got way worse. I think they lost that trade by a lot. I mean they fumbled Jalen Brunson too though. I mean you had Luca and Brunson on the same team. Vincent sparks: Yeah, I agree. I I think they got way worse. I think they lost that trade by a lot. I mean they fumbled Jalen Brunson too though. I mean you had Luca and Brunson on the same team. Cooper Flagg's a good player, but he's not Luca. JB: Cooper Flagg's a good player. But he's not Luca. Nah and he's young. He's young. He's not ready yet. Right. Sure. I I think ⁓ it's for me it's hard to judge right now 'cause it's still kinda early. ⁓ because at first when I saw A D play the first eight minutes, I said, ⁓ my god. D about to kill it. Then as usual he pull a he pull a A D get hurt. He went out of halftime. Exactly. ⁓ it's it's kinda hard to judge it for me right now 'cause again, Luca was J: And he's young. He's young. He's not ready yet. Mm. He went out at halftime. JB: hurt the second half of the this season, so he didn't get a chance to play in the playoffs. now can the Mavs make some some moves with all these trades and everything? Because at first I d at first I thought I knew Coop was good, but I was like, man, is he really that good? They try to make him what he wasn't at the beginning of damn Pernguard. Yeah. You know Pernguard is not easy in the NBA. You got these dogs coming at you. So it takes away for sure. ⁓ yeah. I think Kid let his ego get to him. J: That was a bad decision by Kate for sure. JB: So I think ⁓ I I it's hard for me to judge on my opinion. I can't say nothing right now, but like Jay said, ⁓ Luca, man, that's man, you don't give up no everybody got flaws. Even some of some of the greatest they have them flaws in it. They can say what they want. Now as far as the Bronson. Right. As far as the Bronson thing, I think if Bronson would have still been there, he would never have been a Bronson he is now. That's kinda like the T Mac and Vince Carter situation. he 'cause he would have been always second to to Luca. J: Yeah. Yeah, he's an all time great scorer. JB: We'd never would have known his potential unless Luca was out for the whole season. Then he probably could have stepped up. But I call you know, I think T Mac when he he wouldn't have left Tor Toronto, we'd have never had that the T Mac that he he became the dig. Yeah, Br Brunson got his sh br Brunson got his shot because Luca got hurt. ⁓ it was the first round of the playoffs and Brunson he had no choice but to get in there. And i I can't remember the other player's name 'cause man, these guys disappeared but J: Yeah, Bron Brunson got his sh brunson got his shot because Luca got hurt. ⁓ it was the first round of the playoffs and Brunson he had no choice but to get in there. And it I can't remember the other player's name 'cause man, these guys disappeared, but we were still share sharing time at that position with Brunson and another another guard. I can't remember his name. I mean, obviously wasn't as good as him, but but Luca went out, Brunson went in. That was the only opportunity he really had. He made JB: We were sh still share sharing time at that position with Brunson and another another guard. I can't remember his name. I mean, obviously wasn't as good as him, but Luca went out, Brunson went in. That was the only opportunity he really had. He made good use of it. But like you said, Johnny, he he he would have sat behind Luca and never really developed. That's kinda like Dylan Harper with the Spurs. Dylan Harper's a dog. Right. De'Aaron Fox playing so trash. J: good use of it. But like you said, John, he he he would have sat behind Luca and never really developed. So Vincent sparks: That's kinda like Dylan Harper with the Spurs. Dylan Harper's a dog. What De Aaron Fox playing so trash, he got his spotlight and De'Aaron Fox might be packing bags at Walmart after that. J: Yeah. Yeah. JB: He got his spotlight and DeAaron Fox might be packing bags at Walmart after that. But I I I can't be mad at Brunson though. I'm it it was a good move him going over there. J: But I I I can't be mad at Brunson though. I'm it's it was a good move him going over there. But that's just another thing that this Nico Harrison could have managed a lot better and and didn't. JB: But that's just another thing that this Nico Harrison could have managed a lot better and and didn't. Right. He he gave up too early on Bronson, like you said on and and Luca less Luca there's some stuff that we don't know, which they always say is gonna come out later, but it is what it is. So next question. Y'all think the Mavs two thousand eleven road to the championship was the toughest in NBA history? ⁓ yeah, hundred percent. A hundred percent J: ⁓ yeah, hundred percent. Vincent sparks: A hundred percent. J: I I like ⁓ I liked them two thousand eleven. I don't I don't know what their exact road was in two thousand six, but it did go through the big three in Miami. also and man they they ⁓ they had that ref that was tangled up in that all those conspiracies and supposedly gambling and mob money and all that. I think the MAFs could have had too. JB: I I like ⁓ I liked them two thousand eleven. I don't I don't know what their exact road was in two thousand six, but it did go through the Big Three in Miami. also and man they they ⁓ they had that ref that was tangled up in that all those conspiracies and supposedly gambling and mob money and all that. I think the maps could have had too. We only had it was only big big one and a half. Shaq was Shah Shaq was still done. He was still doing big three yet over in Miami. Yeah, we but we still had think about it, Gary Payton, Antoine Walker. J: Okay. ⁓ yeah, it wasn't big three yet over in Miami. JB: White chocolate. They had a team, James Posey. So they had a team, but ⁓ I see you got your heat jersey on. I wasn't trying to rub it in, but ⁓ y'all got a little help in that one. What about Udanis Haslam? Yeah, God about you. He was was that enforcer as they call it. So as I think he was still forty five back in two thousand six. J: Yeah. ⁓ I see you got your heat jersey on. I wasn't trying to rub it in, but ⁓ y'all got a little help in that one. Vincent sparks: What about Udanis Haslam? J: Think he was still forty five back in two thousand six. JB: What y'all think about ⁓ that's another question of piggyback on that two thousand eleven, you think Dirk had the that's a position, the hardest position, like the people he went against in the final ⁓ road to the finals? 'Cause he went against of course ⁓ the first round was ⁓ Lakers? Lakes no Lakers second round. It was it was Lake OK Portland maybe? Portland. He went against Audrey's LA. Audrey's in the ⁓ first round. And Portland, I believe, he went against ⁓ I mean not Portland. ⁓ Lakers he went against was it Lamar Odoms? I wanna say. He might have still yeah, he might have been there. I think it was Lamar and ⁓ Bynum. But that was that was a tough Lakers team. They were defending champs. ⁓ Terry was on the Mavs team that time, right? Mm-hmm. Yep. J: Portland maybe. ⁓ Moda still yeah, he might have been there. That was that was a tough Lakers team. They defending champs. Vincent sparks: Jason Terry was on the Mavs during that time, right? JB: And then you go to the big three in Oklahoma. ⁓ so but I was thinking about it. I I think the two thousand I wanna say two thousand one Lakers, Horace Grant to me had the hardest people hardest he went against. I'm gonna say power power forwards. ⁓ go back to two thousand one, he went against ⁓ Rasheed Wallace, Brian Grant, Jamal first round. ⁓ I I know this because Pippen was on the team, you Pippen's my my goat. He went against ⁓ Against Jama ⁓ Horace Gr I mean Rasheed Wallace, Brian Grant, a young Jermaine O'Neal. Then he went against the Lakers not the Lakers, ⁓ what that team is, ⁓ I can't think about it. I went blank. ⁓ Rasheed Wallace was tough. Chris he went against Chris Weber. Okay and it was one more that he went against. J: G. Wallace was tough. JB: Portland, Seattle. I mean it'll it'll come back but he went against some some some hair heavy hitters too. I was talking about Rashid on the last show, man. People people don't know understand how talented that dude was. You can if you can tell me any power forward that can shoot the three, shoot a fifteen footer, ⁓ sixteen foot footer, play with his back to the to the room, can dribble, and also can play defense, I'm here 'cause Tim Tim Tim is the goat to me as far as power forward, but he can't J: Yeah. Yeah. JB: Shoot the three. ⁓ that's the only thing he's No, it's hard it's hard to argue against him overall best, but yeah, he he was in the paint. Yeah. Paint mid range, he wasn't going too far out. J: No, it's hard to it's hard to argue against him overall best, but yeah, he he was in the paint. Paint mid range, he wasn't going too far out. JB: Who who y'all think? prime Dirk or Prime Luca? who would y'all go with? ⁓ Luca. Vincent sparks: Luca. J: ⁓ I don't know. I don't know. I saw we saw Dirk go to the finals. Well, people argue because ⁓ you know, he had Kidd and ⁓ Chandler and some of those guys who might end up being Hall of Famers, but Luca carried a not great team to the finals. They lost. But he did carry a team to the finals that I don't think was ready. neither one of ⁓ played great defense. If they love to push that on Luca. JB: ⁓ I don't know. I don't know. I saw we saw Dirk go to the finals. Well, people argue because a lot you know, he had Kidd and ⁓ Chandler and some of those guys who might end up being Hall of Famers, but Luca carried a not great team to the finals. They lost. But he did carry a team to the finals that I don't think was ready. neither one of them played great defense if they left to push that on Luca. J: But you know what, prime prime Luca, prime Dirk. I I gotta give the edge to Dirk because he changed the game more than Luca did. JB: But you know what, prime prime Luca, prime Dirk. I I gotta give the edge to Dirk because he changed the game more than Luca did. Yeah. On that note, child, we're gonna take a quick commercial break and be right back. back everybody. What are y'all thoughts on the the N L N I L? is it good for college football? Is it or is it bad? think it's good for ⁓ players. Probably in order, right? I would say it's good for the players. Next the the schools and the teams. And then honestly, for the fans, they ⁓ don't love it. You know, unless you're like an Indiana fan base where you haven't ever seen real quality football in a long time and you can go out there and get you a bunch of good players. But Alabama fans probably hating it right now. J: Think it's good for the players. Probably in order, right? I would say it's good for the players. Next the the schools and the teams. And then honestly, for the fans, they they don't love it. You know, unless you're like an Indiana fan base where you haven't ever seen real quality football in a long time and you can go out there and get you a bunch of good players. But Alabama fans probably hating it right now. JB: Yeah. You know, a lot of a lot of the talent they're normally used to just snatching up just because of their name, they're not able to get it. But I I don't know, man. I think ⁓ it's good for the players. And that and that's what a lot of people wanted for a long time. I think that's why Nick Saban actually left the game because he knew he can't really control it 'cause like they said that money talks. What you think he's been out there trying to add regulations. Yeah. J: You know, a lot of a lot of the talent they're normally used to just snatching up just because of their name, they're not able to get it. But I I don't know, man. I think ⁓ it's good for the players. And that and that's what a lot of people wanted for a long time. Vincent sparks: I agree too. J: Yeah, he's he's been out there trying to add regulations. Vincent sparks: You know, Alabama like ran everything for years. Georgia, Michigan. Now you get in IL and you got teams like Indiana, Miami finally, Texas Tech, w where they got that oil money. It's com competitive now. You don't it's not all Alabama, Alabama, Alabama, Alabama. So I like it. JB: You know, Alabama like ran everything for years. Georgia, Michigan. Now you get in ⁓ in IL and you got teams like Indiana, Miami finally, Texas Tech, they got that oil money. It's com competitive now. You know it's not all Alabama, Alabama, Alabama, Alabama. Yeah, I don't hate it really. my team's Texas that I've been following. I J: ⁓ Texas Tate, yeah. Yeah, I don't hate it really. my team's Texas that I've been following and I they they were in a drought for a few years, but I knew as soon as that NIL opened up, I was like, Watch, Texas gonna turn it around quick 'cause I mean they got they got more money and and ⁓ boosters that are willing to give than pretty much anybody. JB: They they were in a drought for a few years, but I knew as soon as that NIO opened up, I was like, Watch Texas gonna turn it around quick. 'Cause I mean they got they got more money and and ⁓ boosters that are willing to give I just about to say than they get all the oil guys. Vincent sparks: They got all the oil guys. JB: Y'all think there should there should be a salary cap on ⁓ on college? the per or should a should a player make a certain amount of money, kinda like a NBA first you know, the NBA rookies are they got they only can make so much money. Some of ⁓ are some of these some of these in in well it's mostly endorsement but some of the money's is kinda crazy. J: Yeah. I don't I don't know. I I don't know if it needs to be a cap. They just gotta change the way they do it. 'Cause it's it's really not NIL. NIL's name, image, likeness. That's really what remember Johnny Football got in trouble because he was trying to sell autographs and make money and sell merch. Players aren't doing that. They're getting paid to play like it's it's contract play, like like pro football. So I don't know if there should be a cap, but I think it should really be like a business arrangement. JB: I don't know. I I don't know if it needs to be a cap. They just gotta change the way they do it. Cause it's it's really not NIL. NIL's name, image, likeness. That's really what remember Johnny Football got in trouble because he was trying to sell autographs and make money and sell merch. Players aren't doing that. They're getting paid to play like it's it's contract play, like like pro football. So I don't know if it should be a cap, but I think it should really be like a business arrangement. J: You know, they gotta do something. I'm not I'm not a and they earn as much as they want, but you know, show up to an event or sign some autographs or do real promotions for that car dealership, something. You know, it but the the cap is getting really, really high. JB: You know, they gotta do something. I'm not I'm not a and they earn as much as they want, but you know, show up to an event or sign some autographs or do real promotions for that car dealership, something. You know, but the the cap is getting really, really high. I agree with you. What about you, Vince? don't think there should be a cap because then it'd be like if there's a cap then Vincent sparks: don't think there should be a cap because then it'd be like if there's a cap then it'd be like back before NIO. People are gonna wanna go to the ⁓ school available. JB: It'd be like back before an IL. People are gonna wanna go to the best school available. Vincent sparks: So I mean years they went without NIO. So JB: So I mean years they went without NIO. So the transfer PORTAL become more of a free agency? J: I think so. Yeah. I think it was bad up until last year they had two portal windows. And now it's only one. But I don't know if that's they just did that this year, or I don't know if they actually put it put it down on paper and made it to where there's only gonna be one window. But ⁓ man, it leaves it open to l to like I said, tampering with players and you know, reaching out to guys that probably aren't really JB: I think so. Yeah. Yeah. I think it was bad up until last year they had two portal windows and now it's only one, but I don't know if that's they just did that this year or I don't know if they actually put it put it down on paper and made it to where there's only gonna be one window. But ⁓ man, it leaves it open to l to like I said, tampering with players and you know, reaching out to guys that probably aren't really J: open to communication yet. So I yeah, it's been transfer portal was a problem. Yeah, this is definitely like free agency. And you've already seen players get sued for their money. ⁓ so it's yeah, it's turned into a problem a a little bit. JB: open to communication yet. So I yeah, it's been a transfer portal is problem. Yeah, this is definitely like free agency. And you've already seen players get sued for their money. Right. so it's yeah, it's turned into a problem a a little bit. On this one Vince there's two questions. ⁓ that one that I just asked and also you think it should be a limit on ⁓ I know Jason just answered it. A limit on trans transfer? Like Yeah, I think I don't like the transfer portal. Vincent sparks: Yeah, I think I don't like the transfer portal. But I think at the same time it shows a lot of these players true colors. I mean a lot of these schools, if you got the old school coaches, either you're gonna be in the trenches and try to get out with your team or you're gonna leave. And a lot of these coaches don't want people to act like that. So it helps you weed out JB: But I think at the same time it shows a lot of these players true colors. I mean a lot of these schools, if you got the old school coaches, either you're gonna be in the trenches and try to get out with your team or you're gonna leave. And a lot of these coaches don't want people to act like that. So it helps you weed out all the cancer players who you know aren't there aren't Vincent sparks: all the cancer players who you know aren't there aren't like treat each other like brothers. Go through war with them. They want the easy way out. They want to go get that ring. And so I think it's a good thing. think there should be like a limit 'cause some of these guys they have won bad game. The coach gets onto them, they're hopping into the transfer portal. JB: like treat each other like brothers. Go through war with them. They want the easy way out. They want to go get that ring. And so I think it's a good thing. think there should be like a limit 'cause some of these guys they have won that game. The coach gets onto them, they're hopping into the transfer portal. I I don't believe in counting nobody money, but I agree with y'all on I think They these kids I try to remember. I like the I got the guy the guy that the the kid who dad told him you never had money your whole life. We're not gonna jump for and they was offering what, eight to ten million dollars. I forgot his name. But his dad like, nah, we gon we're gonna we're gonna get through this. You stand your behind right where you at. We not doing this portal thing. So I wanna say the parents should have something to do with 'cause I know ⁓ we in our kids here they respect our well opinion too. They're gonna do what they wanna do at eighteen, but you know these kids gonna do what they wanna do, but I I kinda I like what I like what the dad did, man. His dad like, nah, we've been you haven't had the money all your life, you're not gonna get it now. So let's let's finish this off. ⁓ in J: Yeah, I was hoping we've seen here in Texas. I mean, obviously, it's the opposite situation with ⁓ Manning doesn't really need the money, but he could have got way more. You know, he could have got way more. He could have moved around a couple times by now. Okay, he really wasn't getting playing time ⁓ until recently. So ⁓ that's that's what I like to see as a fan, the loyalty. You know, whatever his motive is, you know, he like I said, he had money, but JB: this Yeah, I I was hoping we seen here in Texas, I mean obviously it's the opposite situation with ⁓ Manning doesn't really need the money. True. But he could have got way more. You know, he could have got way more. He could have moved around a couple of times by now. And he really wasn't getting playing time ⁓ until recently. So ⁓ that's that's what I like to see as a fan, the loyalty. You know, whatever his motive is, you know, he like I said, he had money, but other kids are getting money too. They just instead of a million and a half they want two million. It's not that big a difference. Right. J: Other kids get money too. They just instead of a million and a half they want two million. It's not that big a difference. Especially if you're going from like Texas to California. Vincent sparks: Yeah, so that shows like that shows the man ⁓ Manning ⁓ the kid, ⁓ God Arch Manning had a brain part. It shows he's got that grit, you know? He sat behind the quarterback that was not even close to his caliber. Quinn Uri starting over him. But I mean he was raised right. You see how Peyton Manning and Eli were. So he was raised right. I like that. And it's gonna help him with his draft switch. JB: Yeah. Especially if you're going from like Texas to California. That shows the man ⁓ Manning ⁓ The kid, God, Arch Manning had a brain fart It shows he's got that grit, you know? He sat behind the quarterback that was not even close to his caliber. Quinn who were starting over him. But I mean he was raised right. You see how Peyton Manning and Eli were. So he was raised right. I like that. And it's gonna help him with his draft. ⁓ J: Mm-hmm. JB: Ever since they started give like I said, I don't did did these kids get their money because they make because the colleges, the schools make money off of them. But once they started collecting that money, I kinda lost love for college because I felt like those kids was at first it was trying to get to that NFL level. Now if I got a if I'm a person like Shador that making fifteen million dollars off the off the field, I'm already I know where I'm going, I know my window, but I like it when they were just grinding. ⁓ again, I like these kids getting their money, but I like when it was grinding. That's when I was really into J: Yeah. Well several years ago you would see one or two that would miss a bowl game or or senior bowl really trying to make it they you know, they'd go out there and play. Every g every bowl game now there's four, five, six players they're skipping the bowl game 'cause they don't JB: Or several years ago you would see one or two that would miss a bowl game. Yeah. Or or senior bowl really trying to make it that you know, they'd go out there and play. That's my brain. Every every bowl game now there's four or five, six players there skipping the ball. Yeah. I think it was Najee Harris. Vincent sparks: Who started that trend? It was a running back. I think it was Najee Harris. J: Yeah. Probably yeah, about that recent, yeah. JB: Probably yeah, about that recent, yeah. This this next question probably ⁓ I know I know Jason's probably asking I'm gonna start with you on this one, Jay. ⁓ the transfer portal, has it hurt high school athletes? And this started probably it started pretty much when our yeah boys was in ⁓ Yeah, you know how I feel about it, ⁓ in probably you the same way, you know. J: ⁓ man, you yeah. Yeah, you know how I feel about it. ⁓ in and probably you the same way. You know obviously I'm gonna be a little biased, you know, but my son had a grade into his high school football career ⁓ ⁓ recruiting was ⁓ limited. You know, most most of the the contact we got was from JB: Obviously I'm gonna be a little biased, you know, but my son had a grade into his high school football career and recruiting was limited. You know, most most of the the contact we got was from up north where they're not getting quality high school football players like they do down here in Texas. You got they got a lot of recruitment from like up Minnesota, ⁓ where he's at right now in Wisconsin, just up north. J: Up north where they're not getting quality high school football players like they do down here in Texas. He got they got a lot of recruitment from like up Minnesota, ⁓ where he's at right now in Wisconsin, just up north. ⁓ I think it affected him. I I these guys are taking they'd rather transfer a D two up to a D one and then maybe a D three up to a D two or an AIA up, but JB: ⁓ I think it affected him. I I I think these guys are taking they'd rather transfer a D two up to a D one and then maybe a D three up to a D two or an AIA up. But they're they're recruiting from kids that are already playing college football and and who already have a little bit of experience, who've already got a one or two years of, you know, building their bodies and and getting getting experience. J: They're they're recruiting from kids that are already playing college football and and who already have a little bit of experience, who've already got a one or two years of, you know, building their bodies and and getting getting experience. And now they're even adding more time to their eligibility, it seems like. So yeah. NIL Trash Report all that's really affected ⁓ the way high school football players are recruited, a hundred percent. JB: And now they're even adding more time to their eligibility, it seems like. So yeah. In IL Trash Report all that's really affected ⁓ the way high school football players are recruited a hundred percent. Yeah, no, he hit it on the head. The way I feel like like he said, they're going and recruiting rather than like seniors, they're recruiting other college athletes. So it's like these colleges look at the high school kids like their first and second year of college is like their junior and senior year of high school. But once the big dogs leave then they wanna Vincent sparks: Yeah, no, I he hit it on the head. The way I feel like like he said, they're going and recruiting rather than like seniors that recruiting other college athletes. So it's like these colleges look at the high school kids like their first and second year of college is like their junior and senior year of high school. But once the big dogs leave then they wanna pick from the bottom of the basket and get the high school kids that have been sitting on the bench for a couple of years. JB: pick from the bottom of the basket and get the high school kids that have been sitting on the bench for a couple of years. And again you seen it with Indiana. Half those kids, I think their average age was like twenty two, twenty three, something crazy. Right. Like these are grown like grown men out there. Exactly and that's why Indiana did so good this year. Their average age is like twenty five, twenty six years old. Yeah. Yeah I I I know it's hurting 'cause these kids, man, ⁓ you not J: Man, again, you seen it with Indiana. Half those kids, I think their average age was like twenty two, twenty three, something crazy. Like these are grown like grown men out there. Vincent sparks: And that's why Indiana did so good this year. Their average age was like twenty five, twenty six years old. J: Yeah. JB: route that they gotta go now, you gotta you can be one of the I know I'm gonna use our our school for example, Saginaw. I know ⁓ when when Jonathan was there, you tell me the year before he wouldn't have got better offers. And you know, sometimes you gotta grind all that's you gotta grind and do what you gotta do, but but the year that he graduated with the year they opened this portal. Yep. And I talked to a lot of coaches 'cause I was one of I did more recruiting. J: Mm, yeah. JB: I I did a lot of recruiting for him, reaching out to head coaches, I mean college coaches. And even the ones I met in person, a lot them said it was like Mr. Lawson, I'm gonna be honest with you, if I got a proven a proven player that's already been in college for a c for a year or two, why would I give a full scholarship to a a high school kid who's coming here I gotta train all over to to get to this level when this kid is already over? So man, ⁓ it it it it's it's hurting the athletes. And this is not this in every sport. Football, basketball, and I'm pretty sure J: Yeah. JB: I think the two thousand twenty four was the lowest around the the country that of of ⁓ scholarships. ⁓ yeah. It was the lowest. So I I I think it's yeah, I can see that. But they used to they used to recruit off of what you did in high school, work ethic grades potential, stuff like that. They knew you weren't gonna be ready, but they're not J: ⁓ yeah. Yeah, I can see that. But they used to they used to recruit off of what you did in high school, work ethic grades, potential, stuff like that. They knew you weren't gonna be ready, but ⁓ not they're not okay with that now. They're not satisfied with a kid that they that they that they have to build up in their system. JB: They're not okay with that now. They're not satisfied with the kid that they that they that they have to build up in their system. And the only kids they're recruiting out of high school are like once in a lifetime guys like Malik Haitoni and stuff. Pretty much Yeah, these things have to have the the measurables, the the numbers. You know, all of it. They can't just be good at football. They gotta have all of it before college gonna come down to really look at you. Exactly. Pretty much top fifteen. I I'll say top twenty get the most look. Vincent sparks: And the only kids they're recruiting out of high school are like once-in-a-lifetime guys, like Malachi Tony and stuff. So J: Yep. Yeah, these kids have to have the the measurables, the the numbers, you know, all of it. They can't just be good at football. They gotta have all of it before college's gonna come down to really look at you. JB: Yep. So let's move on to Ben's favorite part. Let's go to this Florida Stadium Miami rival. Who produced more talent at quarterback? I'm gonna go to a different different on position at quarterback. Vincent sparks: I mean y'all got Joe Dizman went to Florida State, right? JB: I mean y'all got Joe Dizeman went to Florida State, right? J: Mm-hmm. Vincent sparks: Did you? J: It's going way back. Johnny Johnny watched it live. JB: Let's go way back. Johnny Johnny watched it don't know many Florida State quarterbacks besides ⁓ Jameis Sweston. That's that's go for the ⁓ Winky, yeah, Winky. Charlie Ward. ⁓ Winky. Vincent sparks: So that again. I'm trying to think. I don't know many of the Florida State quarterbacks besides ⁓ Jameis Swinston. J: ⁓ winky, we had winky. I honestly I'm trying to think of Miami guys. JB: I honestly I'm trying to think of Miami guys. ⁓ Ben what his name was ⁓ you know ⁓ Testaverde. Testa Verde. Okay. Cam Moard. Vincent sparks: Test of Verity. Cam Ward. JB: He's he was a rookie. Carson Becky was trash. I didn't I didn't like Carson Beck. J: He's he was a rookie. He's a rookie. Vincent sparks: ⁓ Carson Beck was trash. I didn't I didn't like Carson Beck. I'm trying to think. J: Beck wasn't a homegrown boy. JB: Well, Beck wasn't a homegrown boy. J: I don't think ⁓ I mean, I don't watch neither one of those teams that closely, but I do know Ward and I know his his legacy over there and what he went on to do after. Man, that dude's kinda hard to top Ward. JB: I don't think ⁓ I mean I don't watch either one of those teams that closely, but I do know Ward and I know his his legacy over there and what he went on to do after, man. That dude's kinda hard to top Ward. Besides Jameson craziness. He went too, right? He was ⁓ Jameson was a a a I'm gonna say almost a he was a a a great college quarterback. Yeah. He was doing big things besides the crab legs. He was doing the Vincent sparks: You went too, right? right, so brought up quarterbacks. Who's got the most who's got the most Tisman's? JB: right, so That's before you and I you brought up quarterbacks. Who's got the most who's got the most Tisman? J: before in Io. Vincent sparks: No, Heisman's, ⁓ Hall of Famers. JB: No, not Heisman's, ⁓ Hall of Famers. ⁓ Vincent sparks: We got some dogs that came out of Miami. JB: We some more. Cal Moard was a Heisman winner though, wasn't he? Yeah. Cal Moard. No, Charlie. Yeah, Charlie and Charlie, Jameson and ⁓ Chris Winky. Winky. I remember Winky. Winky was another guy that was about twenty eight years old playing college football. J: Ward was a Heisman winner though, wasn't he? Charlie. Winky. Yeah, I remember Winky. Winky was another guy that was about twenty eight years old playing college football. JB: twenty I remember that. Both schools had some dogs come out though. Yeah, Greg O'Son at Miami, fucking Ray Lewis, Michael Irvin, Sean Taylor. Yeah, great, great teams. The dogs. I think I don't re Vincent sparks: Both schools had some dogs come out though. Yeah, Greg Ossen at Miami, fucking Ray Lewis, Michael Irvine, Sean Taylor. J: Yeah, great, great teams. Vincent sparks: D dogs. JB: Devin Hurster, the best kicker trainer of all time. Peter Warwick. Ward. Peter Warwick, yeah. That boy was different. he was he was he was Vincent sparks: Devin Hester, the best kicker turner of all time. J: Peter Ward, man. JB: far as defense, I think y'all probably put out better defensive players. I'm gonna say that because Ed Reed and Load. A Reed. ⁓ yeah, all he's with a all time great. yeah, I know we have ⁓ Derek Roger. We got Sean Taylor. Yeah. So I think I think defensive wise ⁓ y'all pr y'all got down running backs, y'all had some nice ones. We had some good ones too. There's so many of them just can't think of all the top Vincent sparks: ⁓ yeah. Every J: ⁓ yeah, all he's one of all time great Vincent sparks: We got Sean Taylor. JB: Devin, what's his name? Devin Cook? J: Well Dunn was at Florida State, right? Dunn and then Miami had ⁓ McGahee around that time. JB: Well Dunn was at Florida State, right? Yeah. Dunn and then Miami had ⁓ McGaehee around that time. Yeah. Fred Gord Willis. ⁓ man. Y'all got that one, so Yeah, Frank Gord was great. Vincent sparks: Yeah. Will it Yeah, front door. J: ⁓ man. Yeah, Franco was great. Vincent sparks: Y'all started bringing up the eighties on my ass. JB: That started bringing up the eighties on my ass. I'm like, do you know a lot about the like you said the eighties McGate's not too far back though? Getty man, that that knee injury. Yeah, that was that was ugly. He was killing J: ⁓ McGay's McGay's not too far back though. Yeah, that was that was ugly. JB: onto some of the hot topics that's going on. What y'all thoughts about some of the NFL ⁓ movements right now? Pretty much I think the biggest one so far been ⁓ the Miles Garrett. Can't think anything besides that one. That's that's really out there. that make the think s make the Rams the number one team ⁓ or too to tell. J: I know he's happy about it. I mean he's warmer weather, contending team, you know, solid players around him. Rumors about ⁓ Aaron ⁓ Donald. JB: I know he's happy about it. I mean warmer weather, contending team, you know, solid players around him. Rumors about ⁓ Aaron Donald. Aaron ⁓ Donald. ⁓ my god. They're gonna win the Super Bowl if he goes there. They've been some crazy trades. Like people don't realize like the Patriots got a receivers corpse now. They got Booty, they got AJ Brown. Vincent sparks: ⁓ my god. They're gonna win the Super Bowl if he goes there. There's been some crazy trades. Like people don't realize like the Patriots got a receiver's corpse now. They got Booty, they got AJ Brown, they got Romeo Dobbs. J: Yeah. JB: They got Romeo dogs. Vincent sparks: That might be the best trio in the league. J: ⁓ yeah, Patriots are good. And May is ⁓ he's just getting better. Yeah. He's so young, he's just getting better. JB: Definitely the best trio in the league. And Mays, he's a dog. He's just getting better. It's insane. Yeah. He's so young, he's just getting better. There's been some crazy traits though, like that Miles Garrett, like definitely the biggest. But like you got Trey Hedrickson with the Ravens. AJ. Vincent sparks: Yeah, he's a dog. Insane. There's been some crazy traits though, like that Miles Garrett, like definitely the biggest. But like you got Trey Hendrickson with the Ravens. J: A J Vincent sparks: You got who else? David Njoku go to the Chargers. JB: You got who else? David Njoku go to the Chargers. Vincent sparks: I think the Patriots got more of an edge than the Rams because a lot of people forget they got Trevion Henderson in that running back room. And he's a dog. JB: I think the Patriots got more of an edge than the Rams because a lot of people forget they got Trevion Henderson in that r running back room. And he's they look they look great on paper. But it's something to be said about a team that's done it. We saw that at they didn't make they didn't make the playoffs on. J: They look they look great on paper. It it's something to be said about a team that's done it. Yeah. And I I'm always biased to the Texas guys, I mean, I I wouldn't mind seeing Stafford get another one. JB: and I I I'm always biased to the Texas guys, I mean I I wouldn't mind seeing Stafford get another one. Sleep on capital in my opinion on that that dude talented man. He can he can make every every throw. he's a leader. Yeah. I'm glad that he got out of ⁓ Detroit. Where he was, man. He'd been another Detroit casualty retiring early and talking about what if. Right. Who's y'all's top five quarterbacks in the league? We're gonna get to right now. Don't answer that, don't answer that. That's coming up. Okay. That's in got ⁓ five. J: Yeah. I'm glad that he got out of ⁓ where he was, man. He'd been another Detroit casualty retiring early and talking about what if. Vincent sparks: Who's yellow's top five quarterbacks in the league? J: Right now? Okay. Vincent sparks: Okay. JB: switch over to MBA. Is LeBron worth the money he's asking for? think he was actually for like one was it like a hundred and fourteen million? I I probably got the numbers wrong but two years, one fourteen I think. ⁓ two years. Do you st you think he's still worth that type of money? Today they consider him being a third option on the Lakers. Yeah. It depends i i if you're asking the fan or if you're asking ownership, you know, because LeBron's gonna put people in the seats, he's gonna sell jerseys. You know, he's he's Vincent sparks: Two years, one fourteen, I think. J: two years. Yeah. It depends i i if you're asking a fan or if you're asking ownership. You know, because LeBron's gonna put people in the seeds, he's gonna sell jerseys. You know, he's he's I've never loved him, but he's probably pretty decent glue on the team. Makes the young guys work hard and I don't know if he pushes them like Kobe and MJ did, but that's a lot of money, man. That's a lot of money. I don't know, JB: Never loved him, but he's probably pretty decent glue on the team. Makes the young guys work hard and I don't know if he pushes them like Kobe and MJ did, but that's a lot of money, man. That's a lot of money. I don't know what AR just got for those four years, but a hundred and whatever for two years is a lot more. J: What AR just got for those four years, but hundred and whatever for two years is a lot more. I don't think he's got a lot of time left. JB: I don't think he's got a lot of time left. Vincent sparks: I don't think he's worth it. I I was never like a big fan of LeBron. I don't think he's the go. But I mean it you d what you're gonna spend on LeBron, you could go get two players that will actually make a difference on the team. Cause right now, like he said, he's the third option behind Luca and ⁓ Austin Reeves. JB: I don't think he's worth it. I I was never like a big fan of LeBron. I don't think he's the go. But I mean it you the what you're gonna spend on LeBron, you could go get two players that will actually make a difference on the team. Well yeah, like he said he's the third option behind Luca and Austin Reeves. One thing I can say he might be the third option, but he's still better than a lot of number ones that's in the league. J: ⁓ yeah. I mean what what's he putting up? JB: So I I think the I guess if the the Lakers haven't given it to him yet, so I'm guessing they thinking, ⁓ are you still worth it? Can you even he try to do it in the playoffs, can you carry a franchise? And you saw that I'm not gonna say it was his fault, 'cause AR he he had came back I think like game three or four. Luca was out. So he was and I'm not gonna make no excuses for him. I'm trying to help him out, ⁓ then Yeah, I I can I think he's going back to the Cavs. That'd be a good place to end your cover. I don't know, man. How does it gonna work with him? Yeah. James Harden and ⁓ Vincent sparks: I think he's going back to the Cavs. J: I don't know, man. Vincent sparks: Biden Mitchell. JB: Fighter Mitchell. Mitchell. So that's the thing, ⁓ 'cause LeBron can't play without that ball in his in his hand. I don't care. Nobody say how he can do better off off the off the ball, but it's it's he's not his best now you gotta be a real energy guy to play off the ball like that. Exactly. Like young Steph was all over the court ⁓ when he you know, the very little he was away from the ball. But nah, not at not at LeBron's age. With the thanks with the with the Lamar ⁓ J: No, you gotta be a real energy guy to play off the ball like that. Like young Steph was all over the court. ⁓ when he you know, the very little he was away from the ball. But nah, not at not at LeBron's age. JB: metal ball trade to Minnesota. What's your thoughts on that one? Think that make crazy. Think that make Minnesota a contender or NBA champion next year? I think it makes Edwards the favorite to win MVP this year. A hundred percent. But they got no bigs. Yeah. They're small team. Yep. And I don't think neither one of those guys shows a lot of real, real discipline. Vincent sparks: Crazy. I think it makes Edwards the favorite to win MVP this year. A hundred percent. But they got no bigs. They're a small team. J: Yep. And I don't think neither one of those guys shows a lot of real, real discipline. You know, I I like Ant as he's flashy and you know, he he makes a lot of noise, but I don't know. I think me and Johnny talked about it before. I think he's a little a little overrated. You know, just a l a little bit. I don't think he's good he I don't think he can lead that team and Lomelo hasn't shown he's gonna lead anybody either. JB: You know, I I like Ant as he's flashy and you know, he he makes a lot of noise, but I don't know. I think me and Johnny talked about it before. I think he's a little a little overrated. You know, just a l a little bit. I don't think he's good he I don't think he can lead that team and Lomelo hasn't shown he's gonna lead anybody either. Trying to see how this gonna work because Lometto's not nowhere near the top forty in defense. You gave up a defensive player. ⁓ they both don't play defense. No, I think it might give you a little more. Yeah, and give you defense. I g I gotta say that, but Lamelo, he's gonna shoot his threes from half court. ⁓ I I just don't see them I don't think it's it I don't put them over the Spurs, I don't put ⁓ over L K C. So I don't J: ⁓ yeah. Vincent sparks: They both don't play defense. J: I think a ant might give you a little more. Vincent sparks: And they got the nuggets in there too. JB: And they got the don't even know how you could put how they'll be on the court on the floor on at the same time. Right. So I I dunno I don't know. I don't know how that's gonna work. They both want the ball. J: I I I don't even know how you could put how they'll be on the court on the floor on at the same time. Cause they almost both are kinda like in betweeners, you know, like one, two or two, three. JB: So welcome everybody back to Sports Talk with JB. We're going to move on over to the hot seat questions. We're gonna do this is this is like a rapid fire, so we're gonna answer these as quick as possible. No thinking about twenty minutes about ⁓ what's better. All right, let's go. Prime Ezekiel Elliott or prime Derek Henry? Who you got Jason? J: ⁓ I gotta go Zeke. I gotta go Zeke, man. Let Zeke eat. I think he's a little more a little quicker, a little more athletic, and he can catch the ball out of the backfield. JB: ⁓ I gotta go Zeke. I gotta go Zeke, man. I think he's a little more a little quicker, a little more athletic and he can catch the ball at the backfield. Zeke. Hard for me to admit it, but ⁓ I'm a realist, yeah. Zeke man, he was he was different. I I go with Zeke too. Derek did have a longer prime. Which one? Derek here he the longer prime for sure. Exactly. Vincent sparks: Z Heedum. His dog. J: Derek did have a longer prime. Did he have a longer prime for sure? JB: Michael Paulson or Mike Miles Gary? Vincent sparks: Miles Garrett. I don't even think it's close. Miles Garrett's what, thirty three? JB: Miles Garrett. I don't even think it's close. Miles Garrett's what, thirty three? Looking at Jason's face, I don't know. What you got, Jay? I I wanna I want to like Michael Parsons more than I do. But I don't know, man. He's a little one dimensional. You gotta go miles, I think. Yeah. He makes his team better. Yeah. J: I I wanna I want to like Michael Parsons more than I do. But I don't know man, he's a little one dimensional. You gotta go miles I think. He makes his team better. JB: Let's move on. I said I'm gonna go in and out a couple of different sports. Who's the greatest pitcher ever y'all seen? Baseball. J: Mean I I Greg Maddox? JB: Yeah, I I I Greg Maddox. That's where I was going with Jay. Greg Maddox I like ki pi pitching his strategy. You know, he didn't have all the heat and he didn't have all the flashy stuff, but IQ pitcher. He knew all the batters strategies and all that. Man, I I like Maddox. Much more Ryan no Nolan was more exciting. ⁓ but Nolan Ryan were just consistent. Yeah. J: Greg Maddox ⁓ I like ki pi pitching his strategy. You know, he didn't have all the heat and he didn't have all the flashy stuff, but IQ pitcher. He knew all the batter strategies and all that. Man, I I like Maddox. Ryan Nol Nolan was more exciting. But I like Maddox. Yeah. Vincent sparks: ⁓ no and Ryan are just consistent. I'd Nolan Ryan. JB: I'd go Nolan Ryan. I'm with Jason Me. ⁓ that was that was to be my my baseball team. the greatest hitter of all time. ⁓ I I'm go for I Ken Griffin to me. ⁓ he probably wasn't the most home run, but his hit, his swing was beautiful. Love King Griffin. Vincent sparks: There's a lot on that list. There you got you got players like Alex Rodriguez, Barry Bonds, you got Miguel Cabrera. JB: There's a lot on that list. There you got you got players like Alex Rodriguez, Barry Bonds, you got Miguel Cabrera. Vincent sparks: But hitter? JB: But hit her? make me think questions I'd know Bonds. They walked him so much. I I like Bonds. I like Bonds. I think he's the most versatile hitter 'cause people are gonna talk tell you Tony Gwynt because he never struck out, he hit everything, but he wasn't like he a power guy all the time. You know, he he'll kill you for average. But man, I'll tell you the scariest hitter I've seen that would go for it well he's saying first. Bond's definitely number one. But Vincent sparks: I'd go bonds. They walked him so much. J: Yeah. I I like Bonds. I like Bonds. I think he's the most versatile hitter 'cause people are gonna talk tell you Tony Gwynn because he never struck out, he hit everything, but he wasn't like he a power guy all the time. Yeah, he'll he'll kill you for average. But man, I'll tell you the scariest hitter I've seen that would go for it well let me play say first, Bond's definitely number one. But the scariest hitter I've seen JB: The scariest hitter I've seen w i in his prime for a very short prime was ⁓ Josh Hamilton. J: w in his prime for a very short prime was ⁓ Josh Hamilton. Man, Josh Hamilton could hit everything. He and he'd go for power, he'd go for average, he he did it all, but just a really short prime again. JB: Man, Josh Hamilton could hit everything. He and he'd go for power, he'd go for average, he he did it all, but just a really short prime again. Yeah. I I think Pete Rose is up there too. Yeah. Vincent sparks: I think Pete Rose is up there too. Being all time hit leader. J: ⁓ yeah. JB: Yeah, Bonds for sure. Dirk or Tim Duncan? J: Yeah, bonds for sure. JB: Who? Dirk. Dirk or Tim Duncan? Duncan. Vincent sparks: Dell I can. Duncan's top five all time. JB: Duncan's top five all time. Yeah. I mean you could build a team around around both of We saw it happen, but J: Yeah. I mean you could build a team around around both of We saw it happen but Dirk Dirk only won one, Tim won more. JB: Dirk. Dirk only won one, Tim won more. Yeah. I think Duncan's probably one of the most underrated players of all time. Vincent sparks: Yeah. I think Duncan's probably one of the most underrated players of all time. JB: I'm going I'm going Tim Duncan. ⁓ he's my yeah. He's my ⁓ go top he's my greatest power forward of all time. The the big fundamental? ⁓ yes. If y'all had one J: The big fundamental. JB: If you had to put your you a if you had to put a million dollars of your own money in the three print contest, what player y'all want to represent y'all to win it all, to win that bag? J: It's just straight up con just catch and shoot, no defense. JB: It's just straight up con just catch and shoot, no defense? No, just the three point contest. J: Man, probably gotta be stiff. Yeah, I think I would go with Steph. JB: Man, probably gotta be stiff. Yeah, I think I would go stiff. J: But if it's if it's on the court and there's pressure, I I like Reggie. JB: But if it's if it's on the court and there's pressure, I like Reggie. J: I like Reggie, he was a gamer. JB: I like There is some dogs. Vincent sparks: There's some dogs. There is some dogs. I mean, I think Kyle Corber was the staff before staff. JB: I mean I think Kyle Cobra was the Steph before Steph. S Carl Culver used to knock down those threes. ⁓ yeah. Yeah, he did. Vincent sparks: Kyle Covey used to knock down those three. J: ⁓ yeah. Yeah he did. There's a bunch of those guys though, man. Like even Kerr himself was a ⁓ nice nice from three. Dan Marley since you like to heat. JB: ⁓ there's a bunch of those guys though man like even current himself was ⁓ nicer nicer from three. You got Dam Army since you like to eat. Yeah I think there's some dogs, Ray Allen. Yeah Ray was nice. I think if I won both kind of like Jay added into it ⁓ three front contest in game, give me ⁓ Dame Dollar. ⁓ I think Dame he showed to me ⁓ he he he's won three point contest and he hit the big shot. ⁓ so give me Dame. Vincent sparks: Yeah. You got Ray Allen. There's some dogs, right, Alan? J: Yeah, dame solid. JB: Yeah, Dame's solid. Yeah, he's good. Who's your who's your NBA goal? Vincent sparks: Yeah, he's good. J: ⁓ MJ. It's not close. There you go. JB: ⁓ MJ. There you go. ⁓ Man but but Jordan but Jordan just became a I respect LeBron but man I don't I don't see why this even a even a debate. And I I tell people I don't see how he hopped over I know that I'm I don't know, I may sound crazy for this, but hopped over Kobe. I Kobe was a copy of Jordan, but still he won. At first I I used to I used to like, man, he can't do it out, Shaq. You had his couple of years of b being ⁓ down Lakers team, did he win and got Vincent sparks: A debate. J: Yeah. JB: ⁓ Lamar and everybody buying ⁓ And you saw what they did. But I think did they win two championships? Yeah, five rings, right. Yeah, he won two more championships after that. ⁓ but yeah, George Mark. I don't get it either. I mean in that in that AI documentary he talks about, you know, why are y'all skipping Kobe. Gotta talk about Kobe. Exactly. Even even though he played a lot like MJ, you still gotta put it on the floor. Exactly. You know, he he was good. He was great. J: I don't get it either. I mean in that in that AI documentary he talks about, you know, why are y'all skipping Kobe? Gotta talk about Kobe. Even even though he played a lot like MJ, you still gotta put it on the floor. You know, he he was good. He was great. Vincent sparks: I do think ⁓ Michael wouldn't be Michael without Pippin though. JB: I do think ⁓ Michael wouldn't be Michael without Pippin though. They know that's my that's my goat bipping ⁓ I got I got I got a million basketball cards I can show you. I like J: Yeah. JB: August. Yeah, but man, all all all the dudes in the Go conversation had a really good sidekick. Yeah. They did from Shaq and Colby. LeBron had half the NBA ⁓ Hall of Famous. ⁓ for real. Chris Brooks. You can go you can name Chris Bros, Ray Allen, Dwayne Wade. J: Yeah, but man, all all all the dudes in the go conversation had a really good sidekick. Yeah. Vincent sparks: Kyrie. JB: Kyrie. Yeah, I LeBron LeBron has always had somebody great next to him. J: Yeah, I mean LeBron LeBron's always had somebody great next to him. JB: ⁓ is Aaron Rodgers' legacy secure no matter what he do his his and the rest of his time in the league? Yeah. Vincent sparks: Mr. Clutch. JB: I think it they'll they'll look at him better as time goes on. I know with the that COVID and vaccine controversy they started trying to like muck up his name a little bit, but ⁓ Aaron Aaron Rodgers is one of the best QBs that ever played the game. J: I think it'll go better it they'll they'll look at him ⁓ better as time goes on. I know with the that COVID and vaccine controversy they started trying to like muck up his name a little bit, but nah Aaron Aaron Rodgers is one of the best QBs ever played the game. JB: see how he can hurt his his legacy. ⁓ 'cause I think he's gonna wanna play one more year. don't see him hurting his legacy, my opinion. ⁓ I think No, don't think he can he's secure. The greatest Farewell tour. Exactly. The greatest cowboy num the weather number eighty eight. Drew Irvin Daz the C D. J: No, I don't think he can. Vincent sparks: Farewell, Tor. There's JB: This J: That is good. JB: That was good. I didn't watch f ⁓ Irvine. So Yeah, that's fair. That's fair. So I knew Vince was young, I'm I'm glad he didn't say LeBron. Right. That's what I was surprised by I was like, What? I think C D will be Vincent sparks: I didn't watch f ⁓ Irvin. So J: Yeah, that's fair. That's fair. So I knew Vince was young, I'm I'm glad he didn't say LeBron. No. I think C D will be. I think C D will be when it's all said and done, but right now it's probably Irvine. JB: I think C D will be when it's all said and done, but right now it's probably Irving. Right. I I said that too. I said, ⁓ C D his his book chop the whatever they say is not even his story not even completed yet, nowhere near. No. And the stuff that he's doing, man, I I reas respect Daz, you put it up, you throw it, but C D is a you're a route runner. He had he had a little up and down with his hands, but still Man, C D C D D was the one for me. ⁓ I think C D want a the ⁓ the eight J: Yeah. Vincent sparks: It goes. JB: Yeah, none of those guys were lining up outside in the slot or even even back with the quarterback taking handoffs or sweeps. None of those guys were doing what what C D's doing right now. Exactly. So then y'all'd say that Amon routes better than Calvin Johnson. 'Cause that's all Calvin did was go up and get that ball. He wasn't a route runner. J: Yeah, none of those guys were lining up outside in the slot or even even back with the quarterback, taking handoffs or sweeps. None of those guys were doing what what C D's doing right now. Vincent sparks: So then y'all'd say that Amon Rod's better than Calvin Johnson. Cause that's all Calvin did was go up and get that ball. He wasn't a route runner. JB: Calvin didn't wear 88 for the Cowboys. That's a different topic. Yeah. Calvin is different, man. Megatron. He is my topic. We can get that part. ⁓ Calvin was taking the whole defense with him. Right. No matter what he did. Exactly. I I I hate I hate that he played against the Saints. We had two people on my point return. I'm like, what the hell is this? Man. That's J: ⁓ That's a different topic. Calvin was taking the whole defense with him. No matter what he did. Ha ha. JB: Let's move on to this new this new segment I got. It's called I Got Five On It. Give me your top five NBA players of all time. Any any position where we how we won't put it. You want me Vincent sparks: You want me to go first? All right. JB: to go first? Yeah. Alright. Vincent sparks: Michael JB: Michael Vincent sparks: Shaq, Tim Duncan. JB: Shaq, Tim Duncan. Vincent sparks: Kobe. JB: Kobe. Vincent sparks: And LeBron. JB: And LeBron. Jay? Yeah. You gotta throw him in there, I guess. J: Yeah. We gotta throw him in there, I guess. Top five. Man, it's it's hard to pick a different five. ⁓ Shaq Shaq ⁓ is another one of those. It's probably not in a GOAT conversation 'cause I don't know if if the bigs get the same respect. They're not s they're not real flashy, but he's the probably the most dominant player I've ever seen. JB: Top five? Yeah. Man, it's it's hard to pick a different five. ⁓ Shaq Shaq ⁓ is another one of those. It's probably not in the GOA conversation 'cause I don't know if if the bigs get the same respect. They're not s they're not real flashy, but he's the probably the most dominant player I've ever seen. That's what they always throw at him the most dominant. No, he should he should be in that goal conversation. I don't know why. Yeah. J: Yeah. Hey, when he came out of ⁓ LSU he was man, he was dribbling the ball all the way up and down the court. He's actually pretty athletic, but you gotta have Shaq. You gotta have MJ. ⁓ JB: Hey, when he came out of ⁓ L S U he was man he was dribbling the ball all the way up and down the court. He's actually pretty athletic, but you gotta have Shaq. You gotta have MJ. ⁓ gotta have LeBron and Kobe. So that really only leaves one spot probably for one of the old guys we didn't really watch. You know, Chamberlain, Russell, you know, ⁓ the logo. J: have LeBron and Kobe. So that really only leaves one spot probably for one of the old guys we didn't really watch. You know, Chamberlain, Russell, you know, ⁓ the logo. you know, some of those guys but yeah, the top four I think is hard to it's hard to argue against. JB: you know, some of those guys but yeah, the top four I think is hard to it's hard to argue against. MJ. Kobe, Tim Dunc Tim Duncan. think that far 'cause I like so I don't want to put old people older old older players in that I never watched. Like I don't know if you'll 100. I don't know what besides kind of like Vince said he watch highlights, I don't know what Kareem did. I caught Kareem at the interview. Right. So I can't go off of I don't want to go off of his highlights. But ⁓ I Right, Kareem and Pin Berg. I think it's harder I think everybody top four pretty much the same as I was that that fifth one. Top five quarterbacks of all time. J: Right. Right. Right, Kareem and and Bird. JB: Joe special, Jay. Let's go. Me ⁓ man, I don't know. You got a house with a coin. ⁓ special. I guess you gotta start with who was the best in. It's probably probably Brady. We'll go Brady. I saw Aaron Rodgers torch cowboys with thirty seconds left in the game a few years back, and that was that dude was a master. Brady, Aaron, Favre. Vincent sparks: Me Jason. J: ⁓ man, I don't know. ⁓ I guess you gotta start with who was the best in. It's probably probably Brady. We'll go Brady. I saw Aaron Rodgers torch Cowboys with thirty seconds left in the game a few years back and that was that dude was a master. Brady, Aaron, Fav. I like Farman. I don't think anybody else could throw a bullet like that. ⁓ these guys I've seen, Lway. Lway had a lot of ⁓ I don't know, he had a little reputation for not being able to get that that good that big win at the end. But he finally turned that around. Man, fifth one? JB: I like Farman. I don't think anybody else could throw a bullet like that. ⁓ these guys I've seen, Lway. Lway had a lot of ⁓ I don't know, he had a little reputation for not being able to get that that good that big win at the end. But he finally turned that around. Man fifth one? J: Montana. You know it's gotta be one of those guys. Montana or young you know let's go young 'cause I watched him play a little more. I I liked I like Steve Young. He could scramble, he could do it all. JB: Montana. Yeah, it's gotta be one of those guys, Montana or Young. You let's go young because I watched him play a little more. I I liked I like Steve Young. He could scramble, he could do it all. I used to well like you said about Brett Fall, I used to compare Brett Fall to Jason Kidd. It wasn't scared to make the throw. Like Kidd scared to make passes. Kidd will make some passes, you'd be like, Did he just do that? So that's I always compare ⁓ Brett Fall. Vincent sparks: Right, so J: Yeah. Yeah. JB: Get again. Gia Vince. So Brady goat, obviously. ⁓ two, I'd probably go Joe Montana. And then after him I got Manning. I got Peyton. Got Payton Manning there. ⁓ probably the best player to not win a Super Bowl, Dan Marino. ⁓ yeah. ⁓ Vincent sparks: So Brady goat, obviously. ⁓ two, I'd probably go Joe Montana. And then after him I got Manning. I got Peyton. I got Peyton Manning there. ⁓ probably the best player to not win a Super Bowl, Dan Marino. J: ⁓ yeah. Vincent sparks: Who else? JB: Ooh, that was. Vincent sparks: I mean Drew Brees was a hell of a quarterback. He just only got there once. I like Drew Brees. JB: I mean Drew Brees was a hell of a quarterback. He just only got there once. Hey, we we still I like Drew Brees. Vincent sparks: Then JB: Then ⁓ let me see. I would go of course Brady, Montana, Drew. throws I would throw ⁓ Joe Montani there. That fifth one, I see they got so many great quarterbacks. Fun to see ⁓ Aaron Rodgers. That's my fifth one. Manning's a good one he mentioned that I don't know how I didn't think of that one, but it I would have to go back and forth between Manning and Young probably. Yeah. Matter of fact, I would replace now you said I'd replace Young with Manning. I don't know how I'll skip that. Yeah. Mr. He's a pure quarterback. He's a pocket guy. But when I tell the kids sometimes 'cause J: Yeah. Ma Manning's a good one he mentioned that I don't know how I didn't think of that one, but it i I would have to go back and forth between Manning and Young probably. Vincent sparks: Yeah. J: Yeah. I mean he's a pure quarterback. He's a pocket guy. But when I tell the kids sometimes 'cause Jo Johnny mentioned Q B or me ⁓ knowing a little bit about Q B cause we watch him close for my boys, but there's a lot of guys that'll just pick you off inside ten yards the entire game, cut you up, s you know, surgically move the defense around. Peyton Peyton was one of those guys. He didn't have to be an athlete. Vincent sparks: Mr. Omaha himself. JB: Johnny mentioned Q B or me, ⁓ knowing a little bit about Q Bcause we watch them close for my boys. But there's a lot of guys that'll just pick you off inside ten yards the entire game, cut you up, s you know, surgically move the defense around. Peyton Peyton was one of those guys. He didn't have to be an athlete. Yeah. All he could is throw that ball. Exactly. So I So you know he's not running on you and he's still Vincent sparks: Yeah. All he could is throw that ball. J: Yeah. Vincent sparks: So you know he's not running on you and he's still freaking throwing fifty, sixty touchdowns a season. It's insane. JB: Yeah, Manning was yeah he's good to watch. He was fun to watch. Exactly. This one here, ⁓ we're gonna go to NBA. The greatest passers ever. Give me your top five greatest passers. Any position. Ooh. The NBA great passers. J: Yeah. Yeah, Manning is yeah, he's good to watch. He's fun to watch. Ooh. NBA great passers. Man, I maybe white chocolates in there in no no order, no no particular order. But I like I like watching Jason Williams. ⁓ JB: Man, I maybe white chocolates in there and no no order, no no particular order. But I like I like watching Jason Williams. ⁓ the elbow pass. Yeah, yeah. The All Star game. And Kid Kidd is probably one of the best fundamental passers. Stockin was probably the guy that always made the right pass, get the you know, get the guy open. So yeah, I mean, it it seems to it's it's point guards, I guess. I'm trying to think of a big that was a great passer. ⁓ Vincent sparks: The elbow pads. J: Yeah, yeah, the all star game and kid kidd is probably one of the best fundamental passers. ⁓ Stockton was probably the guy that always made the right pass, get the you know, get the guy open. So yeah, I mean it it seems to it's it's point guards, I guess. I'm trying to think of a big that was a great passer. ⁓ right now we got ⁓ Joker's a great passer for for a big guy. JB: Right now we got ⁓ Joker's a great passer for for a big guy. And man, I'm gonna go back a little bit for another big guy. Just 'cause he I'm thinking about him. He's probably there's probably a bunch of point guards that are better passers than him, but ⁓ I mean I like watching Sabonis. ⁓ Arvita Sabonis back when he was with Portland. And ⁓ man that that old dude was a great passer. He he actually gave Shaq some problems. J: And man, I'm gonna go back a little bit for another big guy. Just cause he I'm thinking about him. He's probably there's probably a bunch of point guards that are better passers than him, but ⁓ man, I liked watching Sabonis. Arvita Sabonis back when he was with Portland. And ⁓ man that that old dude was a great passer. He was fine. He he actually gave Shaq some problems. Vincent sparks: So I got ⁓ yeah. JB: ⁓ yeah. And we caught him at the end of his career. So imagine if we'd have caught him when he was a little slimmer and again that's my he was on my balling team, man. Sabonis was and we also got him at we had the injuries, those knees couldn't stay healthy. So yeah, it's a bonus. Yeah, but that's a good one. If you are doing like top five, man, probably probably Jason Williams was was the the best I've seen. J: Yeah, but if you are doing like top five, man, probably try Jason Williams was th was the the best I've seen. JB: Thank you. Jason Kidd, of course Magic Johnson, ⁓ Joker, Joke, Jokus, Jokus. Vincent sparks: Forget in the goat. JB: Fit in the forgetting the goat. Vincent sparks: Rajan Ronda. JB: Rajan Ronda. Yeah, Ronda was yeah, Ronda was. I guess he don't get that count that that 'cause he was he wasn't flashy like everybody else. Yeah. Yeah, but I gotta take Ronda over taking over LeBron for my fifth school. Yeah. Man, we had Rondo here in Dallas for about a lunch break. He never got in the game and then he left. Yeah. He didn't last very long. Right. All right fellas, on this note we're gonna take a quick commercial and we'll be right back after this. J: Man, we had Rondo here in Dallas for about a lunch break. He never got in the game and then he left. Vincent sparks: Yeah. J: It didn't last very long. JB: I'd like to welcome everybody back. This is our final segment. With this one we're gonna be building a perfect running back. So let's start with you J. ⁓ we're gonna talk about vision, footwork, raw power, speed, ability to run routes and catch. I guess we can put those together. And a doable. Okay, yeah. Yeah. I'll try to keep it modern era, I guess. ⁓ well ⁓ semi. J: Okay, yeah, yeah. I'll try to keep it modern era, I guess. ⁓ well semi. Vision I I gotta go with my guy Emmett. Emmet all time is ⁓ is always even even the haters will say, Yeah, I mean he had great vision. They'll talk about his O line, but there's a lot of running backs with good old lines that don't know how to use it. So i Emmett vision for sure, speed, I don't think it's JB: Vision I I gotta go with my guy Emmett. Emmett all time is ⁓ is always even even the haters will say yeah, I mean he had great vision. They'll talk about his O line, but there's a lot of running backs with good old lines that don't know how to use it. So i Emmett vision for sure. Speed, I don't think it's really arguable. Chris Johnson was ⁓ one of the fastest, like crazy accelerating running backs. ⁓ J: really arguable Chris Johnson was ⁓ one of the fastest, like crazy accelerating running backs. ⁓ so Emmett i Emmett Vision, Chris Johnson speed. Man, I'm I'm it's kind of a toss up on like ⁓ I guess it depends on how you look at balance 'cause Barry Barry Sanders ⁓ best lateral movement and all that man, but there's a lot of times you see Jerome Bettis take a hit and and move around. JB: So image hit Emmit Vision, Chris Johnson speed, man, I'm I'm it's kind of a toss up on like ⁓ I guess it depends on how you look at balance, 'cause Barry Barry Sanders, ⁓ best lateral movement and all that, man, but there's a lot of times you see Jerome Bettis take a hit and and move around. And I'm not talking about like straight power running guys over, but like balance, really good balance. But J: And I'm not talking about like straight power running guys over, but like balance. Really good balance. But probably gotta go Barry with balance. ⁓ pass catching. JB: Probably gotta go Barry with balance. ⁓ pass catching. J: That's a tough one because I like CMC. But I know I know ⁓ Falk was ⁓ probably the I mean that was that was his thing getting open out of the backfield. ⁓ raw power. That's a good one because there's so many guys, but I like ⁓ I liked Eddie George. They don't talk about Eddie George a whole lot 'cause he wasn't real exciting. But raw power, you got the ball at the one. JB: That's a tough one 'cause I like CMC. But I know I know ⁓ Falk was ⁓ probably I mean that was that was his thing. Getting open out of the backfield. ⁓ raw power. That's a good one 'cause there's so many guys, but I like ⁓ I like Eddie George. They don't talk about Eddie George a whole lot 'cause he wasn't real exciting. Yeah. But raw power, you got the ball at the one. J: I I like Eddie George. Yeah, I like I like I like those guys. JB: I I liked Eddie George. Yeah, I like I like I like those guys. Alright, so Vision I liked Walter Payton. When I watch his highlights, he's just so smooth. ⁓ pass catching CMC. He's so good. ⁓ speed Vincent sparks: Alright, so vision, I liked Walter Payton. When I watch his highlights, he's just so smooth. Pass catch in, CMC, he's so good. Speed. JB: I like Gibbs. I like Gibbs. ⁓ yeah, Gibbs is nice. I like Gibbs. Balance. Vincent sparks: I like Gibbs. like Gibbs. I like Gibbs. Balance? J: ⁓ yeah, Gibbs is nice. JB: I'm gonna be biased here just 'cause I seen him keep his balance so much. But I look I like the way Mary and Barber ran. ⁓ Vincent sparks: I'm going to be biased here just because I've seen him keep his balance so much. But I like the way Mary and Barbara ran. JB: And then Vincent sparks: And then what's the other one? J: Yeah, R I P JB: Receiving receiving power by ball power. Power, Marsh on. Vincent sparks: Receiving CMC. Power Marshon. J: Maybe power, like raw power? JB: Yeah. Yeah, that's a good group. J: Yeah, that's a good group. JB: vision I wanna say very sound 'cause the stuff that he'd be seeing. Barry 'cause again the stuff that Barry was seeing when Player for me, that's Marshall Falk. J: Yeah. JB: How would Tomara? Say I can go Mike Allstalk. Did I say his name right? ⁓ back in the day. All stock. That's gonna be a lot of I probably got a lot of old school players. ⁓ speed, ⁓ like Jay said, ⁓ Chris Chris Johnson, that dude speed. It's ridiculous. CJ two K. Man, that Yeah, he's scared. J: Ooh. Yeah. All stop. Vincent sparks: CJ2K. J: Yeah, he was scary. JB: Emmett, 'cause Emmett had a long career and that's what stability is able to able to last. J: ⁓ for like like reliability or or longevity. Man, Frank Gore just retired a couple of years ago. He played for a long time. JB: ⁓ for like like reliability or longevity. Yeah. Man, Frank Gore just retired a couple of years ago. Yeah, Frank He played for a long time. Yeah, Frank Gore did. Yeah, only when I say Emmy because Emmy went through more even Frank Gore went through it too, but that was when he was able to hit him like you want to. Yeah. ⁓ Gore gets his life. He kinda played in both areas. Yeah. That's what I say. He played in both areas but he got it a little easier towards Vincent sparks: Yeah, Frank Gord did it. J: He kinda played in both eras. JB: End of his career. But Gore was a beast too, man. People sleep on him. You don't hear too much about him unless you a real sports junkie. You know about him. J: And with all that though, I I still think Emmett's a little underrated. JB: Man, with all that I still think Emmett's a little underrated. Vincent sparks: Lashaw McCoy was good too. JB: Yeah. ⁓ I thought I thought about him a lot, but I don't I didn't I didn't watch him that much. But he he fitted all I mean he's almost the perfect running back. Exactly. That's why I always have him and Marshall Ford as my top two running backs ⁓ as far as all around. ⁓ Yeah. ⁓ you can let like say ⁓ C J in there. J: Yeah. I thought I thought about him a lot but I don't I didn't I didn't watch him that much. But he he fit in all I mean, he's almost the perfect running back. Yeah he Yeah. JB: Yeah said his name earlier. J: Lady George. JB: Lady George. J: ⁓ s ⁓ McCaffrey. Yeah. JB: ⁓ s ⁓ McCaffey McCaffrey, yeah, McCaffee. Yeah. ⁓ but you can throw McCaffey into he he's pretty much be working this way in that top five ⁓ You know, all of Just gotta stay healthy. J: Gotta stay healthy.
