- 0:02Speaker 1: Here's your host, Alex Garret. All right, well we caught
- 0:07Speaker 1: up with j Mac Customs on the Mets side. Now
- 0:10Speaker 1: to my dear friend Caleb ce Money three oh one
- 0:14Speaker 1: on my Yankee side. Caleb, thanks for joining me today.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Hey, good morning, Alex, my pleasure man for me.
- 0:21Speaker 1: It's fun that both ss in the same week here
- 0:24Speaker 1: at Yankee Stadium and the City Field. I don't know,
- 0:27Speaker 1: but somebody is going to happen yet. We have to see.
- 0:29Speaker 1: But I want to get your take on the energy
- 0:31Speaker 1: of Games one and two, specifically when Judge hit that homer,
- 0:35Speaker 1: because I saw beards being thrown at Yankee Stadium. Part
- 0:40Speaker 1: of the moment, wasn't it.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Well, you know, for one thing, I was at Game
- 0:45Speaker 2: one and I still got soaked. I wish I was
- 0:47Speaker 2: at Game two for Judges home run because obviously we've
- 0:50Speaker 2: all been waiting for that moment to finally happen and
- 0:54Speaker 2: have him breakthrough this postseason. But man, there's nothing like
- 1:00Speaker 2: the playoffs at Yankee Stadium. I mean, you just got
- 1:02Speaker 2: to expect to be soaked in beer and throwing popcorn
- 1:07Speaker 2: and everything, you know, even fries and chicken chicken buckets
- 1:11Speaker 2: up in there, you know, it's just exciting that it's back,
- 1:15Speaker 2: you know, especially after last year not making the playoffs
- 1:19Speaker 2: and you know, now having the most legitimate chance to
- 1:22Speaker 2: make it to the World Series. And so, I mean,
- 1:26Speaker 2: I really wish I was there for Judges home run.
- 1:29Speaker 2: But I'm sure there's gonna be more moments like that
- 1:31Speaker 2: coming up soon.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Now you are a sort of planned ticket holder with
- 1:35Speaker 1: the Yankees out of the playoffs and some work for
- 1:37Speaker 1: those that might be interested in getting into this whole
- 1:40Speaker 1: Yankee ticketing thing down the road, right.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Yeah, no, for sure. I mean this was my first
- 1:45Speaker 2: season as a season ticket holder. Actually, I would just
- 1:49Speaker 2: for years now, I would just grab a pinstrip pass,
- 1:52Speaker 2: go over to the terrace and yeah, and just get
- 1:56Speaker 2: planted there because you know, I mean I couldn't really
- 1:59Speaker 2: plan what games I really wanted to go to. It
- 2:01Speaker 2: would always be spontaneous. I would, you know, just be
- 2:04Speaker 2: like a last minute thing, you know, work in the
- 2:06Speaker 2: city and just hop on the subway. But now this
- 2:10Speaker 2: year was my first and now already renewed next year,
- 2:13Speaker 2: so hopefully it's more years to come, all right.
- 2:17Speaker 1: As an avid fan, you've also built this community in
- 2:20Speaker 1: that talk about the community of Yankee Stadium. And it's
- 2:24Speaker 1: a big one, isn't it.
- 2:25Speaker 2: You know what I mean, it's it's it's easy for
- 2:29Speaker 2: someone like me. You know, I'm so, I'm outgoing, I'm
- 2:32Speaker 2: a nice guy. I feel like so. And especially that's
- 2:35Speaker 2: how I even got to meet you. Over Instagram and
- 2:38Speaker 2: over the socials. You know, you tend to see the
- 2:43Speaker 2: same people in the same areas over and over again,
- 2:46Speaker 2: and you know, it's just so easy to build a community.
- 2:50Speaker 2: It's easy to build a type of crew or same
- 2:53Speaker 2: type of you know, a squad if you want to say,
- 2:55Speaker 2: just of the same people going to the going to
- 2:58Speaker 2: the Yankee games and you know, doing what we love,
- 3:01Speaker 2: which is going to the games and seeing the team
- 3:03Speaker 2: that we love. And that's just it's easy, you know,
- 3:06Speaker 2: for someone like me, it's just easy. And the bigger
- 3:11Speaker 2: community though, it is definitely on the socials, because you
- 3:14Speaker 2: tend to see those those Yankee fans that have their
- 3:19Speaker 2: fan pages or their photography pages and stuff like that,
- 3:23Speaker 2: and you tend to just run into them in the
- 3:26Speaker 2: Bronx and the community just gets bigger, you know, And
- 3:30Speaker 2: it's just you know, at the end of the day,
- 3:33Speaker 2: all we want to do is just go to the stadium,
- 3:35Speaker 2: watch our favorite team play and win. That's all we want.
- 3:39Speaker 2: It's been fifteen years without a chip, that's all we
- 3:42Speaker 2: want right now. So I know we're all on the
- 3:44Speaker 2: same page with that for sure.
- 3:46Speaker 1: You know this season the Angs had a really tough stretch,
- 3:49Speaker 1: inet the community never gave up on the team. What
- 3:52Speaker 1: drives the community never give up on this team?
- 3:55Speaker 2: Well, we're expected to win. I mean we got, we
- 3:57Speaker 2: were spoiled. I mean, I know in the nineties I would.
- 4:01Speaker 2: I'll be honest, I don't remember it. I was just
- 4:04Speaker 2: a kid. But all I remember is that we just won.
- 4:06Speaker 2: We won all the time. And obviously now it's just expected.
- 4:11Speaker 2: It's something that we expect from this team. Uh, the
- 4:14Speaker 2: boss is what you know? Put that here obviously, and
- 4:20Speaker 2: well it's been fifteen years now when so you know
- 4:24Speaker 2: that that need to bring a chip back to the Bronx,
- 4:27Speaker 2: back to New York, back to the city. It's just
- 4:30Speaker 2: grown more and more every year. And so I mean
- 4:33Speaker 2: it's just expected here that that's all I really I
- 4:35Speaker 2: can say.
- 4:37Speaker 1: What I appreciate about you, KINGLB, though, is that you
- 4:39Speaker 1: don't trash Boo. You don't trash Brian Cashman, you kind
- 4:44Speaker 1: of just let the season play out. I feel like
- 4:45Speaker 1: the fan basically, you know, react. It's very reactionary, and
- 4:49Speaker 1: sometimes that's the best way to be because you know,
- 4:51Speaker 1: it's a long Brian one sixty two.
- 4:56Speaker 2: It's a different time now, Alex. You know, it's a
- 4:59Speaker 2: different time with the soul. Social media is everybody has
- 5:01Speaker 2: an opinion, everybody, and everybody can just hide behind a screen,
- 5:06Speaker 2: you know, saying what their opinion is and you know,
- 5:10Speaker 2: argue over the socials and all that. That's also really
- 5:13Speaker 2: what drives, you know, the frustrations because I mean, quite honestly,
- 5:19Speaker 2: I don't like to get into all that with other
- 5:21Speaker 2: fans and stuff. I mean, I have the utmost faith
- 5:25Speaker 2: in Brian Cashman. He's had a you know what he's
- 5:29Speaker 2: done for as long as he's done it, he's been
- 5:33Speaker 2: He's been pretty good for us as the general managers.
- 5:36Speaker 1: It's hard to believe that's the case in that and
- 5:38Speaker 1: then Boone's been here in uh since seventeen I believe.
- 5:42Speaker 2: I was just talking with my father actually, and uh,
- 5:47Speaker 2: you know, I've I've you know, I've kind of gotten
- 5:52Speaker 2: him over to the dark side with the Yankees, but
- 5:54Speaker 2: it literally started just like a you know, between me
- 5:57Speaker 2: and my father was like a it was a rivalry thing.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Like he liked the Mets because he came to this
- 6:04Speaker 2: country in eighty five, eighty six, they won, so he
- 6:08Speaker 2: was you know, he just tagged along. He said, Okay,
- 6:10Speaker 2: the Mets are winning, and you know, that's that was.
- 6:15Speaker 2: That was just normal, you know. I couldn't blame him
- 6:17Speaker 2: for that. And I was finally born in eighty nine,
- 6:20Speaker 2: and but as I was growing up, it would be
- 6:23Speaker 2: like a rivalry thing between me and him, just something
- 6:26Speaker 2: that was fun, you know. And so if he liked
- 6:27Speaker 2: the Mets, I love the Yankees. And then all of
- 6:29Speaker 2: a sudden ninety six, ninety eight, ninety nine, you know,
- 6:33Speaker 2: and that just only drove my fan hood. And so
- 6:37Speaker 2: that was pretty much it. And like the whole thing
- 6:40Speaker 2: was is that, you know, my father worked all the time,
- 6:44Speaker 2: so I didn't get to have that experience as a kid,
- 6:50Speaker 2: to go to the stadium, get the autographs, meet Derek Jeeter,
- 6:53Speaker 2: things like that. I never got that. And so now
- 6:56Speaker 2: when I became an adult being able to do these
- 6:59Speaker 2: things myself, I'd want to do that for him. Now,
- 7:02Speaker 2: bring him to the stadium and get him these autographs
- 7:05Speaker 2: and get him to meet these players and whatever experience
- 7:08Speaker 2: I could, I could get for the both of us,
- 7:10Speaker 2: you know, because well, hey that's my father, that's my guy.
- 7:13Speaker 2: So but yeah, that's the story.
- 7:16Speaker 1: I'm gonna say. So this is bringing out your inner child, right,
- 7:18Speaker 1: This whole run is kind of bringing out your inner
- 7:20Speaker 1: child being part of the Yankees family like this.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Yeah, come on, now, you know I always kind of
- 7:25Speaker 2: a thing I always say, is we only get older,
- 7:27Speaker 2: we don't grow up, you know. I mean, well, you know,
- 7:31Speaker 2: even the guys on the field, they get to stay,
- 7:34Speaker 2: you know, they get to be kids still, you know,
- 7:38Speaker 2: playing a kid's game as adults as men, Like I
- 7:42Speaker 2: think anybody, any anybody wants that, anybody would love to
- 7:46Speaker 2: just to stay as a kid as long as possible.
- 7:48Speaker 2: I mean, you know, we have all responsibilities all that,
- 7:51Speaker 2: but if there's a time in a day, for just
- 7:54Speaker 2: hours of a day, that you could just be a kid,
- 7:56Speaker 2: stay as a kid, I think we'd all thrive for that.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Let's talk about strategy, because obviously they're too old going
- 8:03Speaker 1: to Cleveland now, and the games have been weird, the
- 8:08Speaker 1: offense hasn't truly broken out yet. We're still waiting for that,
- 8:11Speaker 1: aren't we.
- 8:12Speaker 2: We're still waiting for that. And that's what's dangerous about us.
- 8:14Speaker 2: That's you know, our ballpen is locked it down. That's
- 8:19Speaker 2: that's something that we've also needed because our starters haven't
- 8:22Speaker 2: gone that far into the games except for call that
- 8:25Speaker 2: one game. So the ballpen has locked it down. That's
- 8:28Speaker 2: something that gives these guys confidence to only have to
- 8:32Speaker 2: put up four, five, six runs, you know, and and
- 8:36Speaker 2: we haven't broken out yet and if if only the
- 8:39Speaker 2: best is to come, I'm excited because we're still winning.
- 8:43Speaker 2: That's what's most important, the numbers. No matter how many
- 8:47Speaker 2: we put up, we're winning, and that's what's important. Oh, Man, Luke,
- 8:53Speaker 2: that's the guy right there.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Man.
- 8:54Speaker 2: I trust the the scouting team that the Yankees have,
- 8:58Speaker 2: I love. I mean, you got to trust those guys.
- 9:01Speaker 2: They see something that we don't see every day. They
- 9:03Speaker 2: had some confidence in this guy that had almost a
- 9:06Speaker 2: seven ERA and as a starting pitcher wherever he was.
- 9:10Speaker 2: I believe it was the Reds. I'm not don't quote
- 9:13Speaker 2: me on that, but I mean they do. You give
- 9:16Speaker 2: a guy a sense of confidence that you want to
- 9:18Speaker 2: work with him, get him better with the new York Yankees.
- 9:23Speaker 2: I think that would make anybody just fall in and say, Okay,
- 9:27Speaker 2: let's see, let's see what I got and look at
- 9:30Speaker 2: what he's done. You can't ask for anything better.
- 9:33Speaker 1: And then seeing Rizzo the way he got that double,
- 9:36Speaker 1: they look, we need him to be healthy, we need
- 9:38Speaker 1: him to have those swings because he is a good hit.
- 9:41Speaker 1: I don't care how old is. He still got that
- 9:42Speaker 1: good bad. I would say, you know, he.
- 9:45Speaker 2: He brings more. He brings more to this team with
- 9:48Speaker 2: his experience. You know, he's a go glove. I mean,
- 9:52Speaker 2: a great first baseman, World Series champion. He knows what
- 9:55Speaker 2: it takes. And I know he's in there in these
- 9:58Speaker 2: guys years telling them, you know, just keep grinding, keep
- 10:02Speaker 2: taking it day by day, at bad bye, at bat.
- 10:05Speaker 2: He's more valuable to us than just with his bad
- 10:08Speaker 2: or glove. He's you know, he's one of those veterans
- 10:11Speaker 2: that we have that it's almost like the C. C.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Sabbathia or the Brett Gardner, just those guys that have
- 10:17Speaker 2: been there, have done it, knows what it takes, and
- 10:22Speaker 2: you know that.
- 10:24Speaker 1: I didn't realize this. I didn't realize this keeps it
- 10:27Speaker 1: light apparently with you know, calling the bullpen. I love
- 10:29Speaker 1: I love that he keeps it light on the dugout.
- 10:31Speaker 1: You need that during a game, right, look at.
- 10:33Speaker 2: That, you know. I mean, I'm not so that was
- 10:35Speaker 2: so great to hear yesterday. You know, it's a kid's game,
- 10:40Speaker 2: just like what we were talking about. It's a kid's game,
- 10:42Speaker 2: and just keep it light. You don't have to. You
- 10:45Speaker 2: don't know when everybody's tense and stuff. I mean, hey,
- 10:49Speaker 2: even injuries can happen, and then things can go wrong
- 10:52Speaker 2: really quick. You gotta you gotta stay loose. You gotta
- 10:55Speaker 2: you know, anything can happen. Thank God for Rizzo for
- 10:59Speaker 2: doing that.
- 11:02Speaker 1: And Glaber also have a great friendship too. It looks
- 11:04Speaker 1: like in the I gotta ask you this. On the
- 11:07Speaker 1: pitching side of things, though, you have Cole ur ace
- 11:11Speaker 1: L I mean, and ro Donald's coming to his own.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Are you surprised, following the seam all year around, how
- 11:18Speaker 1: cohesive the rotations become them?
- 11:21Speaker 2: No, I'm not surprised. You know, luckily we've stayed healthy
- 11:26Speaker 2: all year, well except for Coal obviously he came in
- 11:31Speaker 2: a little late. But Cole is is is Cole. I mean,
- 11:36Speaker 2: I think he's gonna he's our race. He's our guy.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Everybody else behind him is what's been kind of getting
- 11:44Speaker 2: mixed around all year. Like Hill had a fantastic beginning
- 11:47Speaker 2: of the year, uh nessor started coming into himself at
- 11:51Speaker 2: the end of the year, then he got injured. I
- 11:54Speaker 2: just think that whoever is called up next, next man up,
- 11:59Speaker 2: they know what they need to do, like Clark Schmidt tonight,
- 12:03Speaker 2: a lot of people don't have. Hopefully he makes past five.
- 12:06Speaker 2: I think he's going to get to seven. He knows
- 12:08Speaker 2: how important that's going to be. We've been using our
- 12:12Speaker 2: bullpen a lot the last two games, so he knows
- 12:15Speaker 2: that that's important. Go deep, go six. If you can't
- 12:18Speaker 2: go seven, the next man up. That's the mentality of
- 12:21Speaker 2: this team. And I think specifically for Schmid tonight, seeing
- 12:27Speaker 2: how good, how well he did the last time he
- 12:29Speaker 2: was up, he's gonna he's he's going to be the
- 12:31Speaker 2: guy today.
- 12:32Speaker 1: And he was a guy a couple of years ago
- 12:34Speaker 1: we were shaking on. But he's really coming to his
- 12:36Speaker 1: own as a as a starter and as a pitcher
- 12:39Speaker 1: as well. You know, Okay on the ball, I have
- 12:43Speaker 1: you got to ask you this. You mentioned that when
- 12:45Speaker 1: you were a kid, it was you were just coming
- 12:47Speaker 1: into this game. We all love first jersey you owned, though,
- 12:51Speaker 1: I got to ask you. First jersey you.
- 12:52Speaker 2: Had number two, the Captain. Jeters still have it, still
- 12:59Speaker 2: wear it every once in a while to kind of
- 13:00Speaker 2: bring some luck into the stadium. That was my only
- 13:04Speaker 2: jersey for a long time. Honestly. The one I bought
- 13:07Speaker 2: after that was was Judge. So you could you could
- 13:11Speaker 2: see there like for ten years, maybe twelve, just one
- 13:15Speaker 2: jersey and it was just just Jeter. That's the guy, man.
- 13:20Speaker 2: That's That's one of the main reasons I became a
- 13:22Speaker 2: Yankee fan. Unfortunately, never got to meet him, never got
- 13:27Speaker 2: to get an autograph or anything like that. But hey,
- 13:30Speaker 2: he's done already so much for me personally like that,
- 13:34Speaker 2: you know, That's why I've taken the next step to
- 13:38Speaker 2: meet Judge things like that, so he's hey, man to
- 13:44Speaker 2: the Captain, you got to tippy cat baby, right.
- 13:47Speaker 1: So those events that you go to or kind of
- 13:48Speaker 1: ticket season holder events, I know that they do a
- 13:51Speaker 1: lot of that stuff. So that's a big benefit to
- 13:53Speaker 1: me a season ticket holder, I'm sure.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Yeah, Well, uh, I was. I'm fortunate enough to work
- 14:00Speaker 2: right here in Midtown and Judge was over in Macy's
- 14:04Speaker 2: and uh yeah.
- 14:06Speaker 1: So tell me tell me about Fanatics Best because we
- 14:10Speaker 1: bonded there too. I mean, the whole weekend was excited.
- 14:14Speaker 2: Man, Michael Rubin is a genius for making such an
- 14:18Speaker 2: awesome event three days at the Javid Center. Let me
- 14:23Speaker 2: tell you, for one thing, that first day was my
- 14:26Speaker 2: favorite day, hands down. So much going on with the Jeter,
- 14:31Speaker 2: David ortiz U, Eli Manning with the Giants, so many
- 14:38Speaker 2: things going on, and expect all even with the Knicks
- 14:40Speaker 2: with the bing bomb, you know, panel being dressed as
- 14:46Speaker 2: Derek Jeter all I'm trying to win that competition. Hey man,
- 14:51Speaker 2: that that that was just great. You know, like you
- 14:53Speaker 2: talk about community, that's just with just the Yankees at
- 14:57Speaker 2: you know, Yankee Stadium, at Fanatics Best, you're promoting You're
- 15:02Speaker 2: especially being in New York. It's about all the teams.
- 15:05Speaker 2: It's about all the sports. So you see a Rangers
- 15:07Speaker 2: fan of Rangers jersey, say go Rangers. You see a
- 15:10Speaker 2: Knicks jersey, they go Knicks. And it was that constantly
- 15:13Speaker 2: all day. I love that. I absolutely love it. That's
- 15:17Speaker 2: how you get to meet people, that's how you build
- 15:19Speaker 2: the community. I mean, there's one thing you know, being
- 15:22Speaker 2: on social media, you know, everything is behind the screen
- 15:25Speaker 2: and all that. I'm still somebody that likes to take
- 15:30Speaker 2: it very personal and be and be there and get
- 15:33Speaker 2: to talk to people one on one and and know
- 15:37Speaker 2: who you are. And that's what I love that best
- 15:39Speaker 2: gave me the opportunity to do.
- 15:41Speaker 1: And I love it about you because I feel like
- 15:43Speaker 1: we've lost that as a country too. We don't talk
- 15:46Speaker 1: that personality. I remember I would be on the train
- 15:49Speaker 1: ride from the stadium or from the JA stadium walking
- 15:52Speaker 1: baseball people. Now everybody doesn't want to talk to each
- 15:55Speaker 1: other after a game. They're on their phones, they're in
- 15:57Speaker 1: their little groups. It's like breaking that fourth wall has
- 16:01Speaker 1: become harder. I feel like, especially when you're out strangers.
- 16:05Speaker 2: You got to keep that. I mean that that's that's
- 16:06Speaker 2: who we are. We're human beings, very interactive where you know,
- 16:11Speaker 2: that's really one of those things that was that was
- 16:13Speaker 2: unfortunate about the socials. You know, you just it's kind
- 16:17Speaker 2: of broken that personal touch. That's something I've always still
- 16:21Speaker 2: tried to implement, especially even going to Yankee games, Ranger games,
- 16:25Speaker 2: Nick games, being personal learning about other people, other fans
- 16:29Speaker 2: and their actual lives. Like it's it's it's already something
- 16:34Speaker 2: that we already broke the ice that we love the
- 16:36Speaker 2: same team. Now let's find out who we are and
- 16:40Speaker 2: and and build a community that way just you know,
- 16:43Speaker 2: oh you work here or you're from there, and and
- 16:46Speaker 2: and you know, that's just something I love to do.
- 16:49Speaker 2: I love meeting people. I love seeing what they're about.
- 16:53Speaker 2: The teams that we love only makes it easier for
- 16:56Speaker 2: for for myself because that that already breaks the ice.
- 16:59Speaker 2: And so to build relationships from there and in terms
- 17:02Speaker 2: of like who you are and what you do and
- 17:04Speaker 2: where you're from. I mean that that to me is
- 17:07Speaker 2: the best.
- 17:09Speaker 1: And you welcome me, Gabby ninety year world pretty quickly.
- 17:11Speaker 1: And I appreciate that. Caleb, that is just awesome. I mean,
- 17:14Speaker 1: we're walking through the streets here as through the stadium.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Here comes Caleb brohmto So I love that about you.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Yeah, no, man, you know that that's it's just what
- 17:24Speaker 2: I do. Man, that that's who I am through and through.
- 17:27Speaker 2: I get that from my father, from my grandfather. That's
- 17:32Speaker 2: who we are. We're personal people. We love seeing meeting
- 17:34Speaker 2: people from all the ways of life. You know, It's
- 17:40Speaker 2: it's something that's It's just it's just who we are, man,
- 17:44Speaker 2: this is it's just who we are.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Tell me about what the city means. What do you
- 17:50Speaker 1: mean to see this city come alive in October like this?
- 17:53Speaker 1: I mean, I'm just excited when all the bars have
- 17:55Speaker 1: the flags of every team out. I mean, it's just
- 17:57Speaker 1: it's so fun to be And then the Liberty last night,
- 18:00Speaker 1: which Sabrina and that screw. I mean, the city can't
- 18:04Speaker 1: be as hot as it is right now.
- 18:05Speaker 2: I feel like I can only compare it to April
- 18:09Speaker 2: when the Rangers were in the playoffs, the Knicks were
- 18:12Speaker 2: in the playoffs, and every other day there was a
- 18:14Speaker 2: playoff game. You know. I can only compare it to
- 18:17Speaker 2: that because even those two months April and May were
- 18:21Speaker 2: so fun. The city was on fire. Now now this
- 18:27Speaker 2: is a little different because I mean, come on, it's
- 18:31Speaker 2: the Yankees and it's the Mets that both can see
- 18:34Speaker 2: each other in the finals. That is something that hasn't
- 18:37Speaker 2: happened obviously in twenty four years and twenty four years
- 18:40Speaker 2: ago there was no social media, you know, so now
- 18:44Speaker 2: in the times that we are living in and now
- 18:47Speaker 2: the possibility that it might happen again twenty four years
- 18:49Speaker 2: later with social media and all that. I don't think
- 18:53Speaker 2: the city's ready, I really don't, but it will be
- 18:57Speaker 2: if it actually happens, if both teams make it.
- 19:00Speaker 1: And there's an election and I know our politics, but
- 19:03Speaker 1: then there's an election, like in the same whole thing.
- 19:05Speaker 1: It's just a nutty October right now, Caleb, can you
- 19:09Speaker 1: let me ask you this. We're gonna be watching the
- 19:11Speaker 1: next couple of games because they're on the road right now.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Uh, well, tonight, I'm actually gonna go uh to a
- 19:16Speaker 2: friend's house, my friend's apartment in in in Queens, have
- 19:21Speaker 2: a couple of friends get together and uh just watch
- 19:24Speaker 2: it because he's he's actually a Mets fan. So we're
- 19:27Speaker 2: gonna watch the Yankees game first since it starts at five,
- 19:29Speaker 2: and then watch the Mets game after and just have
- 19:32Speaker 2: a day to kind of relax because you know, it's
- 19:34Speaker 2: it's uh going to I mean, especially even going to
- 19:36Speaker 2: game one the other day, it was just such a long,
- 19:40Speaker 2: long day being at the terrace standing all day and
- 19:44Speaker 2: it's it gets a little exhausting, so you know, going
- 19:47Speaker 2: out all the time, it's it's it's a bit much.
- 19:49Speaker 2: But for Friday, if if we're up three to zero. Hey,
- 19:55Speaker 2: I'm hoping somebody throws a watch party. I've been I'm
- 19:57Speaker 2: gonna go back on Instagram after this, talk to John
- 20:00Speaker 2: Boy or something. We need to watch party somewhere. Even
- 20:03Speaker 2: Yankee Stadium should have one. With with the Mets having
- 20:06Speaker 2: City Field last week like that, I don't understand why
- 20:10Speaker 2: that's not happening. But hey, Friday, though, if we're up
- 20:13Speaker 2: three to zero, I mean, damn, somebody has to throw something.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Come on now, it's it's with a chance to go
- 20:20Speaker 2: finally go to the World Series after fifteen years. I
- 20:24Speaker 2: mean someone has to do it. I'll I'll even try
- 20:27Speaker 2: to throw my own last minute, but I don't know
- 20:29Speaker 2: if that's gonna happen. How about yourself, I don't know.
- 20:33Speaker 1: Well, we're gonna rest up because Gabby's been dealing with
- 20:35Speaker 1: well stuff, so we'll be resting up. But if there
- 20:37Speaker 1: is a thing tomorrow, I might we might go out
- 20:40Speaker 1: because you know, we gotta get out there again. We
- 20:42Speaker 1: got because this is a fun time to.
- 20:46Speaker 2: Be out and I think, you know, especially if we
- 20:50Speaker 2: if we clinch tomorrow, there's gonna be a long week
- 20:53Speaker 2: of no baseball. We're just going to be waiting on
- 20:55Speaker 2: who we're going to be playing, so that's also a factor.
- 20:59Speaker 2: And I think if also the Dodgers make it not
- 21:02Speaker 2: the Mets, we're going to be going over there for
- 21:04Speaker 2: Game one, So the Bronx is gonna it's not going
- 21:07Speaker 2: to have a game for quite a while. That if that,
- 21:09Speaker 2: if those two things happen, if we clinch Themorrow and
- 21:12Speaker 2: the Dodgers move ahead to the World Series, we won't
- 21:15Speaker 2: have a game till Game three, which will be in
- 21:17Speaker 2: probably a week and a half, two weeks.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Calf, I gotta ask you this. Sure we're catching at work.
- 21:23Speaker 1: So for those who may know you just as a
- 21:25Speaker 1: Yankee fan, what do you do? What's your daily life?
- 21:27Speaker 2: Like? Oh, well, I work here at Michael Zamach Architects.
- 21:32Speaker 2: I work an architect from We'll also have a sister
- 21:36Speaker 2: company called Support for Architects, so we do building and
- 21:39Speaker 2: code consulting in New York City and all the five boroughs.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Like I said, I'm just two blocks away from Penn Stations.
- 21:45Speaker 2: So living in Long Island, I just take the train,
- 21:49Speaker 2: just walk on over here. I've been here now, it's
- 21:53Speaker 2: about to be seven years. I've been in this area
- 21:57Speaker 2: of the city now for almost fifteen. So that also
- 22:01Speaker 2: just makes my Yankee fan hurt much easier. Just hop
- 22:04Speaker 2: on the B or the D train, head on up
- 22:08Speaker 2: to the stadium and uh and yeah, but I enjoyed
- 22:14Speaker 2: being in Manhattan. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Honestly, tell you what, if they have a three to Oerho,
- 22:19Speaker 1: we should all go to Stout tomorrow then, because that
- 22:22Speaker 1: is a spot to be. Yeah, I love that spot.
- 22:25Speaker 1: But I'm gonna reach out to them now and just say, hey,
- 22:27Speaker 1: you want to throw something too, you know, see what
- 22:29Speaker 1: happens to get the ball rolling somehow.
- 22:31Speaker 2: I haven't checked yet. I'm hoping people have announced something.
- 22:35Speaker 2: I'm surprised nothing's been announced yet. I mean, if we're
- 22:40Speaker 2: up three to Oho tomorrow, I mean with a chance
- 22:44Speaker 2: back to go back to the dance, come on, someone's
- 22:48Speaker 2: someone gotta be throwing a party something now?
- 22:49Speaker 1: Yours what's been in my mind the whole day? Okay? So,
- 22:52Speaker 1: knowing that we could be a three to zero, it's
- 22:54Speaker 1: twenty years since that disaster happened, how cool would it
- 22:58Speaker 1: be to release that caramel from twenty years to go
- 23:00Speaker 1: and just win it sweep at this time around against
- 23:03Speaker 1: the Guardians I mean that would just be healing, I
- 23:06Speaker 1: think for a lot of Yankee bands right there.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Yeah, it's hmmm, why do you have to bring that up, Alex.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Because that's how my brain works, because you know, just
- 23:16Speaker 1: these anniversaries come up, but you start thinking about it
- 23:19Speaker 1: a little bit. But also very different, different energy this
- 23:22Speaker 1: time around. I think, of.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Course, and the Red Sox had more of an energy
- 23:27Speaker 2: behind that comeback. You know, it's it's the Curse, It's
- 23:31Speaker 2: the Yankees, It's you know, it's it was. It's so different,
- 23:37Speaker 2: and just I think against the Guardians, the Yankees are
- 23:41Speaker 2: just too good and they have to take care of business.
- 23:45Speaker 2: There's just no way that something like that would even
- 23:47Speaker 2: have a chance of happening. No way, none.
- 23:49Speaker 1: In my mind, who's the Who's that? Who's the X factor?
- 23:53Speaker 1: Because I bring some about Judge, But is there someone
- 23:55Speaker 1: else on this team that's going to be an ex
- 23:57Speaker 1: factor for you the rest of the series, I should.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Say, I mean to be has to be Glabor. Glaver
- 24:07Speaker 2: sets the tone. Glaver sets the tone, and you know,
- 24:13Speaker 2: ever since you've been putting in that spot, you just
- 24:15Speaker 2: got to love what you've been seeing. And for me personally,
- 24:19Speaker 2: I look at it this way. You know, he for
- 24:23Speaker 2: for a long time did not know where he would
- 24:26Speaker 2: be even in the lineup from day to day. So
- 24:29Speaker 2: when Boom finally made that decision just to put him first,
- 24:32Speaker 2: to give him the most at bats really from anyone
- 24:34Speaker 2: in the lineup every day, and to just solidify where
- 24:38Speaker 2: you're going to be and how to prepare yourself and
- 24:41Speaker 2: finally give him that. I don't feel like he's had
- 24:44Speaker 2: that almost ever, just to know just to be one
- 24:48Speaker 2: hundred percent when you're going to be batting, when you're
- 24:51Speaker 2: going to be up, you know all that that that
- 24:53Speaker 2: is so critical for a baseball player, and especially for Glabor.
- 24:59Speaker 2: It's worked like and you could see it. It just
- 25:02Speaker 2: it's in the numbers. His confidence is through the roof.
- 25:05Speaker 2: You have Soto and Judge and John Carlo behind you,
- 25:08Speaker 2: and I think he's gonna have those three behind him today.
- 25:12Speaker 2: What more would you want to do then to just
- 25:14Speaker 2: come through, get on base, set the.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Tone Caleb Rookie of the Year, by the way, is
- 25:19Speaker 1: your catcher Austin Well And let me tell you everything
- 25:23Speaker 1: I was saying. He's been stuggling. But you know what
- 25:25Speaker 1: that kid deserves, uh, you know, recognition, and maybe look
- 25:29Speaker 1: of the Year. I mean, he's gonna be up against
- 25:31Speaker 1: who do you think gets it?
- 25:31Speaker 2: Though? Can you repeat that, Alex? I'm sorry, So no.
- 25:37Speaker 1: About the rest of the lineup and Austin Weld has
- 25:39Speaker 1: been a big, you know issue now it's a talking point.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Do you stick with him? Do you go with Torino?
- 25:44Speaker 1: And is he your rookie of the year or is guilt?
- 25:47Speaker 1: It's ill.
- 25:49Speaker 2: So here's my thing. People tend to forget that he's
- 25:51Speaker 2: a rookie. This is I'm going to give him that.
- 25:55Speaker 2: I'm going to give him that. He's you know, he
- 25:58Speaker 2: is a rookie, his first playoffs, Yankees, all that October baseball,
- 26:02Speaker 2: you know, he he you can't forget though that he's
- 26:05Speaker 2: also gotten us here. He's helped us. You know, in
- 26:08Speaker 2: August September he was so hot and you can't forget
- 26:12Speaker 2: about that now.
- 26:14Speaker 1: Even the game one against the uh against Kansas City,
- 26:17Speaker 1: he was the big star that night.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Yeah yeah. But then every other game after, you know,
- 26:23Speaker 2: he's he's been non existent. Really, So, I mean, I've
- 26:27Speaker 2: already been hearing about what may happen today. They may
- 26:31Speaker 2: put youhn Carlo there at the cleanup. They may have
- 26:35Speaker 2: Trevy in so that Wells just takes a day off,
- 26:38Speaker 2: which I I don't mind. You know, it's it's a
- 26:42Speaker 2: long down with three games in a row potentially if necessary,
- 26:46Speaker 2: so I think you have to be ready for that.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Just give Well's the day off. Jihn Carlo is hotter
- 26:53Speaker 2: than hot. Put him in the cleanup and like I said,
- 26:57Speaker 2: the X factor being labor set the tone. You got
- 27:01Speaker 2: those if you got those three guys behind you, I
- 27:05Speaker 2: don't I think that's where going to be up by
- 27:08Speaker 2: the end of the night.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Three Oh, I feel that too. All right, we're style guys.
- 27:13Speaker 1: So I want to ask you this. The turtlenecks are back.
- 27:15Speaker 1: I'm winning today just because it's back in fashion. Are
- 27:18Speaker 1: you gonna be wrapping a turtleneck or is that not
- 27:20Speaker 1: your style?
- 27:20Speaker 2: I need it, but I've been looking for one. Man
- 27:22Speaker 2: eBay is sold out. I don't know where to even
- 27:24Speaker 2: get one those. I got a couple of my boys
- 27:27Speaker 2: who wear who sell vintage Yankee stuff. They're not even selling.
- 27:32Speaker 2: They're not even selling their turtlenecks. I'm hoping somebody puts
- 27:36Speaker 2: it sells them. I need one. I one d need
- 27:39Speaker 2: one those because for.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Those who don't know, cale dresses up to the nines,
- 27:42Speaker 1: like with the jerseys, with the sneakers, I mean all
- 27:44Speaker 1: the way from head to toe.
- 27:46Speaker 2: Really, and I have too much Yankee stuff, man, but
- 27:48Speaker 2: I never stopped repping. It's not just one hundred and
- 27:51Speaker 2: sixty two days a year either, it's uh, it's almost
- 27:54Speaker 2: three hundred and three fifty. Like always got a Yankee
- 27:57Speaker 2: hat on, you know that? So but a total neck. Hey,
- 28:02Speaker 2: if you hear of one being being sold, you let
- 28:04Speaker 2: me know, man, because I'll cop two of those.
- 28:06Speaker 1: What can Yankee fans expect the rest of the way.
- 28:08Speaker 1: They're from your perspective and someone who's called this team
- 28:10Speaker 1: from day one.
- 28:11Speaker 2: I expect the win tonight. I expect the win. I
- 28:14Speaker 2: expect Schmid to go six. I expect more runs from
- 28:19Speaker 2: us tonight. I expect Judge to finally wake up after
- 28:23Speaker 2: that home run the other night. Look, and especially we're
- 28:26Speaker 2: on the road. We're better on the road. I expect
- 28:31Speaker 2: to win. That's what I expect, and especially because I
- 28:34Speaker 2: don't know what it is, maybe it's I mean, we
- 28:36Speaker 2: would think that we would have home field advantage and
- 28:38Speaker 2: we'd go to put up fifteen runs in the Bronx.
- 28:42Speaker 2: But you know, sometime in October, a lot of pressure
- 28:44Speaker 2: gets to these guys.
- 28:46Speaker 1: But you know what I missed about the city is
- 28:48Speaker 1: I used to remember how teams feared going to Yankee Stay.
- 28:52Speaker 1: Teams literally were afraid to go in there. How do
- 28:55Speaker 1: we get back to that, you know, intimidation. I feel
- 28:59Speaker 1: like it's not maybe to beudn't the parody of the league.
- 29:01Speaker 1: I don't know anymore.
- 29:01Speaker 2: But I don't know, man, because here's the thing. It
- 29:06Speaker 2: comes to, Uh comes down to the type of team
- 29:10Speaker 2: that we have too. The beginning of the playoffs, it
- 29:12Speaker 2: wasn't even field. There was no dominant team. And so
- 29:16Speaker 2: that's also the thing. Yankee Stadium could be Yankee Stadium
- 29:19Speaker 2: is gonna be Yankee Stadium no matter what. But it's
- 29:21Speaker 2: about the team that you're facing. And nobody's scared of
- 29:23Speaker 2: the Yankees, nobody scared of the Mets, nobody scared of
- 29:26Speaker 2: the Dodgers, nobody scared of the Guardians. It's an even field.
- 29:29Speaker 2: So that's really the main a big factor for me
- 29:34Speaker 2: because I was just even talking about it, yeah, with
- 29:36Speaker 2: my father, that like from the from the very beginning
- 29:39Speaker 2: of the playoffs, you look at all the teams that
- 29:40Speaker 2: are in it, anybody could have won it. There's no
- 29:43Speaker 2: dominant team, and it could have been the Oils. People
- 29:46Speaker 2: could have been scared to go to Camden Yards, like
- 29:48Speaker 2: because if they were so dominant, but they they weren't.
- 29:51Speaker 2: Every everybody is dominant.
- 29:55Speaker 1: Texas wasn't afraid. Last year. They actually took the three
- 29:58Speaker 1: games I think are two games from Baltimore or however
- 30:01Speaker 1: that in Baltimore.
- 30:03Speaker 2: Yeah, in Baltimore, like it's about the team that you're
- 30:08Speaker 2: you're facing over there?
- 30:09Speaker 1: Is it just the difference also in stadiums, because that
- 30:11Speaker 1: old stadium was just something special and so close together
- 30:15Speaker 1: and this new stadium so spread out and different like that.
- 30:18Speaker 2: You know, I just I don't think it's something that
- 30:24Speaker 2: just quite honestly exists at the moment. But you know,
- 30:29Speaker 2: we're going to be in there. We're going to try
- 30:31Speaker 2: to intimidate, you know, if the World Series is finally
- 30:34Speaker 2: back here, man, we're going to try our absolute best
- 30:38Speaker 2: to make to make them feel like they they they
- 30:41Speaker 2: don't want to they don't want to play here anymore.
- 30:44Speaker 1: No, that's exactly how we got to make them feel.
- 30:46Speaker 1: All right, Cale, thanks so much for the time and
- 30:49Speaker 1: one last thing I mentioned you fall from game one,
- 30:51Speaker 1: but really you fall from you know, spring training. I
- 30:54Speaker 1: know you go down there sometimes to be with the team.
- 30:56Speaker 2: Right, Well, I went there for the first time this year.
- 31:00Speaker 2: It was a lot of first this year. It was
- 31:02Speaker 2: my first spring training this year. That was a very
- 31:06Speaker 2: fun experience. And basically you know with Sodo, with just
- 31:12Speaker 2: acquiring Soto to be able to be behind him at
- 31:16Speaker 2: right field like at George Steinbrennerfield, Like being there for
- 31:20Speaker 2: the first time and sitting at that at the in
- 31:23Speaker 2: that seat right behind Soda and like we were talking
- 31:26Speaker 2: and interacting with him. That was a lot of fun
- 31:28Speaker 2: for being my first spring training, a lot of fun.
- 31:32Speaker 2: I'm already planning to go back next year to spring
- 31:34Speaker 2: training because it's it's right before my birthday.
- 31:39Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 31:40Speaker 2: So yeah, my birthday is March first, so I never
- 31:42Speaker 2: have any real baseball during my birthday, but at least
- 31:46Speaker 2: for spring training it's a little bit of a it helps.
- 31:49Speaker 3: But you know, if anybody by the way, no, I've
- 31:55Speaker 3: I've been there multiple times.
- 31:56Speaker 1: I loved it. In fact, in twenty eleven, the last
- 31:58Speaker 1: time I was there, and Agron took me into like
- 32:01Speaker 1: the the bowels of George Imonterdfield, I got to see
- 32:04Speaker 1: Robbie Cano take BP, I got to talk with Delon Matanzas.
- 32:07Speaker 1: There was quite at a moment. I loved Tampa and I.
- 32:11Speaker 3: Just love getting away from the city in the winter.
- 32:12Speaker 3: There's something about it that time of year. Hey, one
- 32:15Speaker 3: last thing, though, you did see Soto's homer on Monday,
- 32:18Speaker 3: So you did see that. Yes, you know, fans were
- 32:20Speaker 3: waiting for that too, because he did not hit a
- 32:22Speaker 3: homer in the LDS first posting the homers. The Yankee
- 32:26Speaker 3: people were waiting for that buma right there.
- 32:28Speaker 2: Of course. But the thing is is Soto was hitting.
- 32:32Speaker 2: Judge wasn't even hitting. George was striking out most of
- 32:35Speaker 2: the time of popping out. So for Soto, he wasn't home,
- 32:40Speaker 2: he wasn't hitting homers, but he was getting on base
- 32:42Speaker 2: and hitting. So that's what kind of you know, made
- 32:45Speaker 2: us like, Okay, at least you're doing that. But that
- 32:50Speaker 2: homer came straight at us over at the terrace. I
- 32:54Speaker 2: remember just, yeah, just looking at it, hoping that we're
- 32:57Speaker 2: just laying in the bullpen, and once it did, you
- 32:59Speaker 2: already know the it was in the air.
- 33:00Speaker 1: So well, Cale this has been great and I love
- 33:04Speaker 1: catching up with you man, and we'll talk to you
- 33:06Speaker 1: and maybe we'll see a watch party together while they're
- 33:08Speaker 1: on the road here.
- 33:09Speaker 2: I hope so, I hope so. Brother.
- 33:11Speaker 1: I'm more importantly a clincher, right, That's what we're welcome for.
- 33:14Speaker 2: Of course, of course we've been waiting a long time. Man.
- 33:17Speaker 2: That's gonna be fun.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Caleb, thanks so much for joining. I'm going to tag
- 33:21Speaker 1: you on Instagram and Twitter with this one.
- 33:23Speaker 2: Thank you, Alex, thank you, thank you for having me.
