- 0:00Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Jacob Hester.
- 0:02Speaker 2: And Matt Flynn.
- 0:03Speaker 3: Okay, here we go.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Where the plays get broken down and science gets denied.
- 0:07Speaker 4: Dude, they said I gotta come off the bench.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Hour two of Off the Bench, live from the Raising
- 0:12Speaker 1: Cane Studio.
- 0:33Speaker 5: All right, welcome back in OTB hour number two.
- 0:56Speaker 4: Talking LSU, Kentucky here. Eventually, we'll get to the Saints
- 1:01Speaker 4: and Vikings. Boy, oh, boy. That one wasn't done. Not
- 1:07Speaker 4: the Saints.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Oh.
- 1:09Speaker 4: Not the Saints. Not the Saints at all. It's probably
- 1:13Speaker 4: a road game, though. No, it's the third straight home,
- 1:16Speaker 4: I believe.
- 1:18Speaker 6: They came out hot, though, right?
- 1:21Speaker 4: That's going to be an 830, probably. Yeah.
- 1:26Speaker 3: You hear Kellen Moore just like, gee, guys, we really
- 1:29Speaker 3: didn't get that one done, huh?
- 1:32Speaker 2: We really got to get it together.
- 1:33Speaker 4: I pass that point. I like that, though. A lot
- 1:38Speaker 4: of good tries out there, though.
- 1:40Speaker 2: We just got to look at the tape and get better.
- 1:42Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Can't stand it.
- 1:46Speaker 4: We got to look at the tape. That's so accurate.
- 1:50Speaker 4: There's really not a lot I can say. I haven't
- 1:51Speaker 4: seen the tape. That's what you say.
- 1:55Speaker 7: I know.
- 1:56Speaker 4: I did say that. Because it is true. It is true.
- 1:59Speaker 3: I think you got Lane like, okay, but Boosie, he's
- 2:03Speaker 3: going to walk the Tiger walk. Dustin Poirier, he's pretty sick.
- 2:10Speaker 4: Well, home games aren't a problem.
- 2:12Speaker 3: True.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Maybe he needs to take them on the road.
- 2:14Speaker 4: That's what I was about to say. That's what I
- 2:17Speaker 4: was about to say. I don't know that it's a
- 2:22Speaker 4: home or an away thing. It's been multiple coaching staffs,
- 2:25Speaker 4: but that That'll waste that. I said it earlier. It's staggering.
- 2:30Speaker 4: When I see that, it makes me just angry. Because
- 2:35Speaker 4: we did look it up. So we didn't give ourselves like,
- 2:37Speaker 4: we had five road losses in our four years. But
- 2:42Speaker 4: they lost six in a row. That's not LSU. If
- 2:52Speaker 4: you want to get to a point where you were
- 2:55Speaker 4: talked about with, like, Georgia and teams like that. Like,
- 2:59Speaker 4: you can't lose six games in a row in a row.
- 3:01Speaker 7: No.
- 3:02Speaker 4: I don't care who the coach is before. I don't
- 3:04Speaker 4: care what the roster was. Like, then, now, past, present, future. Like,
- 3:12Speaker 4: it kind of embarrassed me. I'm going to be honest
- 3:13Speaker 4: with you. When I saw it, I'm like, damn, that's true.
- 3:18Speaker 4: I'm sitting there thinking, like, I've had six plane rides
- 3:20Speaker 4: where it's been silent as hell going back to Baton Rouge.
- 3:23Speaker 5: Mm-hmm.
- 3:25Speaker 4: It embarrassed me. Like, I'm like, that's not LSU football.
- 3:28Speaker 3: Another fun stat for you. Shane Beamer has more top
- 3:31Speaker 3: 25 road wins in his career than Lane Kiffin. Oh, yeah.
- 3:34Speaker 4: That's usually the only win Shane has. That's fair.
- 3:39Speaker 6: Yeah, Lane's 14 and 18 on the road in the SEC.
- 3:41Speaker 4: Okay. All right, great.
- 3:47Speaker 8: So, I was watching Saturday, watching all the games. Enjoying
- 3:53Speaker 8: my Saturday, my college football, getting ready for the LSU
- 3:56Speaker 8: game in the evening, watching football.
- 3:59Speaker 4: Excited. And I.
- 4:02Speaker 8: Just kept watching these different games. I was watching Texas play.
- 4:05Speaker 8: I was just clicking through. And I look around the league,
- 4:10Speaker 8: and I just see penalties. I see missed assignments. I
- 4:15Speaker 8: see incomplete passes. Just real bad football. just being played
- 4:23Speaker 8: all over the country. And I'm like, and I got
- 4:26Speaker 8: me thinking about like this NIL transfer world transfer, happy,
- 4:32Speaker 8: every roster turnover so much, every single, every single year.
- 4:37Speaker 8: And it's been annoying and it's not college football. And
- 4:41Speaker 8: this is, this is going to be a little bit
- 4:43Speaker 8: of yelling at the clouds a little bit. And like
- 4:46Speaker 8: we've Here on the show, we're annoyed at it, but
- 4:48Speaker 8: it's the state of the world. It's the state of
- 4:50Speaker 8: college football. But we've always said, like, something's got to change.
- 4:53Speaker 8: People get to transfer every single year. There is complete
- 4:56Speaker 8: roster toner. It's harder to coach now than it ever
- 4:59Speaker 8: has been in college athletics because you never know what
- 5:03Speaker 8: your roster is going to be the following year.
- 5:05Speaker 6: But you couldn't really yell too loud because of why.
- 5:12Speaker 8: Because the product on the field was better than it
- 5:16Speaker 8: ever had been. The product every weekend that we were
- 5:18Speaker 8: getting in college football was still awesome. Everybody was still watching. Like, what's, like,
- 5:24Speaker 8: this is great football. So, like, how can you really complain?
- 5:30Speaker 8: The product on the field this year kind of stinks. Like,
- 5:33Speaker 8: it's bad football being played across the country. Now, there's
- 5:38Speaker 8: good games. So, there's teams that play well. Georgia looked
- 5:41Speaker 8: really good. There's teams that have played well, but we're
- 5:45Speaker 8: six weeks into this thing, and there is still sloppy play.
- 5:48Speaker 8: It looks like a country full of teams still trying
- 5:53Speaker 8: to figure out how to play with each other and
- 5:56Speaker 8: still trying to figure out what the scheme is and
- 5:58Speaker 8: still trying to figure out what the guy next to
- 5:59Speaker 8: them is doing and still trying to learn all these
- 6:02Speaker 8: different things about their team.
- 6:04Speaker 6: It looks like the product on the field is nowhere
- 6:09Speaker 6: near better. They don't know each other. Everybody's a first-year player.
- 6:14Speaker 6: They don't know each other.
- 6:15Speaker 4: I know.
- 6:15Speaker 8: We have 40 transfers on a roster. It's not parody.
- 6:19Speaker 8: It is parody because every team looks.
- 6:24Speaker 4: Not very good. I think there's certainly something to that,
- 6:32Speaker 4: for sure. And I do feel like and this is
- 6:38Speaker 4: a perfect year to kind of use this as an example,
- 6:42Speaker 4: the NFL this year, like, we don't know. We don't know.
- 6:46Speaker 4: Every single Sunday. Like, we just, like, the Falcons for
- 6:49Speaker 4: two straight weeks look like world beaters. And then last
- 6:53Speaker 4: night they lose to Tyler Huntley.
- 6:55Speaker 6: After having a double-digit lead in that game?
- 6:57Speaker 4: You know, they lose a game. I could go seven
- 7:00Speaker 4: different scores in the NFL. Well, as the college game
- 7:05Speaker 4: gets closer to the NFL– which it is, closest it's
- 7:08Speaker 4: ever been before, I think some of that plays into
- 7:11Speaker 4: it as well. There's going to be teams that are
- 7:15Speaker 4: a little bit closer than they've ever been before. You're
- 7:18Speaker 4: going to have a little bit more parity. You're going
- 7:19Speaker 4: to have– now I'm not saying it's well-oiled, like you're saying.
- 7:24Speaker 4: I get what you're saying. Yeah. But there is going
- 7:26Speaker 4: to be more parity. There is going to be times
- 7:28Speaker 4: where now the ones– I.
- 7:29Speaker 8: Just feel like the great teams of 10 years ago
- 7:31Speaker 8: would roll everybody right now.
- 7:34Speaker 4: Roll them. You're probably right. But the challenge for any
- 7:42Speaker 4: school wanting to be in Tier 1, because there's still
- 7:46Speaker 4: some that do it. There's still some that do it.
- 7:49Speaker 4: I think Georgia's the best example of it. Ohio State,
- 7:53Speaker 4: to some extent, probably Georgia, Ohio State, and I don't
- 8:01Speaker 4: know who else you want to throw into that category,
- 8:02Speaker 4: but that's kind of my point. Can you do that? Yeah.
- 8:09Speaker 8: There's a lot of parody right now, and that's what
- 8:11Speaker 8: we want, right? But it's not parody because everybody's better.
- 8:15Speaker 8: I think it's parody because everybody's worse. So the excuse
- 8:28Speaker 8: of all this craziness that we have to suffer through,
- 8:31Speaker 8: like in the offseason, like all the transfers, all that crazy,
- 8:33Speaker 8: like the excuse of, well, the product on the field
- 8:35Speaker 8: is still better.
- 8:37Speaker 4: Well, that excuse is gone. What was the thing, the
- 8:44Speaker 4: most egregious thing on Saturday LSU's game? It could be
- 8:49Speaker 4: a moment. It could be a play. It could be
- 8:51Speaker 4: a situation. All of it was so bad, but.
- 8:54Speaker 3: I think that not capitalizing off of all of the
- 8:57Speaker 3: mistakes that Kentucky made at the end was a bit,
- 9:03Speaker 3: like it was crazy because, okay, sure, we can say,
- 9:05Speaker 3: I will never be the person that blames the refs
- 9:08Speaker 3: for a loss ever.
- 9:10Speaker 2: We can say that the refs were bad.
- 9:11Speaker 4: They were.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Objectively, they were bad.
- 9:13Speaker 4: They were bad. There's no way Kentucky can get two penalties.
- 9:16Speaker 4: The two penalties they got were clear penalties. You had
- 9:18Speaker 4: to call them. They didn't play clean. And then the
- 9:21Speaker 4: touchdown before the half, the false start, all of that. So, yeah,
- 9:25Speaker 4: I'm with you. You still should have won.
- 9:27Speaker 3: Fourth and one was, like, super egregious, and people are
- 9:30Speaker 3: going to point to that. But, like, Kentucky gave you
- 9:33Speaker 3: plenty of opportunities to put them away, and you did not. Like,
- 9:36Speaker 3: you should have dominated them, and you didn't. Like, if
- 9:39Speaker 3: you were playing clean, sound football, that would have been
- 9:42Speaker 3: a completely different game.
- 9:43Speaker 4: Yep.
- 9:45Speaker 6: This is where I knew we were in trouble. I
- 9:47Speaker 6: was listening to you two, you and Chris, on the
- 9:50Speaker 6: way home from St. Francisville. And, you know, you give
- 9:54Speaker 6: up the big run. They get a touchdown. Yeah, that sucks.
- 9:57Speaker 4: You immediately answer with a touchdown to your end.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Great.
- 10:00Speaker 6: You're now back up 10-7. You force Kentucky to punt.
- 10:04Speaker 6: And I'm thinking, okay, grab momentum again, make it 17-7.
- 10:08Speaker 6: That long touchdown run never happened. You're up 14 points.
- 10:11Speaker 6: And they scored on the punt return. And they made
- 10:13Speaker 6: it 14-10. And then, boom, they had all the momentum
- 10:16Speaker 6: right back that you had just grabbed. When I had that,
- 10:18Speaker 6: I looked at Victoria and I was like, LSU's in
- 10:20Speaker 6: trouble in this game. Kentucky really came to play, and
- 10:23Speaker 6: you did not. I mean, you really never grabbed the
- 10:26Speaker 6: momentum back from that moment until you took the lead late,
- 10:30Speaker 6: and then you screwed it at the end anyways.
- 10:32Speaker 4: The punt return, and look, they had a block in
- 10:34Speaker 4: the back. They didn't call it. Look, LSU's not going
- 10:37Speaker 4: to get a 50-50 call, y'all. I hate to tell you,
- 10:41Speaker 4: they're not getting one this year, and I don't know
- 10:43Speaker 4: how long it's going to last. They ain't getting one
- 10:45Speaker 4: this year. I can promise you.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Sankey made the call.
- 10:48Speaker 4: I think it was Dylan Carpenter. I think they got
- 10:50Speaker 4: blocked in the back. The punter got hooked.
- 10:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:52Speaker 4: The guy had his arm and hooked him. You're not
- 10:54Speaker 4: getting it.
- 10:54Speaker 2: Prince Will was getting held all night.
- 10:57Speaker 4: Our deep side did block our own guy for sure. Well,
- 10:59Speaker 4: that's fine. But he also, like, make the tackle. Make
- 11:03Speaker 4: the tackle. He had four guys that should have made
- 11:05Speaker 4: the tackle. Right? So, like, it's hard for me to
- 11:07Speaker 4: complain about the block in the back, which it was.
- 11:09Speaker 4: I'm like, make the flipping tackle. You missed the tackle
- 11:12Speaker 4: right when he caught the ball.
- 11:13Speaker 6: You missed the tackle. He spins out if it goes
- 11:15Speaker 6: down the sidelines. That should have been a four-yard gain.
- 11:19Speaker 3: I will say, like, CJ was running all over you
- 11:22Speaker 3: at first, but I do think that after maybe halftime,
- 11:25Speaker 3: you made some adjustments that you were.
- 11:28Speaker 4: They scored what? I know there's a lot of hate.
- 11:31Speaker 4: Not hate. There's a lot of, like, people talking about, like,
- 11:34Speaker 4: Baker right now.
- 11:35Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 11:36Speaker 4: They scored six in the second half. Yeah. And then
- 11:39Speaker 4: over time.
- 11:40Speaker 8: And, like, offensively, let's talk about that. Like, again, took
- 11:43Speaker 8: two trick plays to score touchdowns.
- 11:46Speaker 7: Y'all.
- 11:47Speaker 4: I was listening to some of the postgame because Chris
- 11:50Speaker 4: was listening to it next to me. Haney was saying
- 11:54Speaker 4: some wild stuff, too, about Blake Baker. Yeah, like worst
- 11:59Speaker 4: called defensive game he's ever seen or something. I'll have
- 12:02Speaker 4: to get the quote. I don't want to misquote him.
- 12:04Speaker 6: You've been great under Baker second half all year. My
- 12:08Speaker 6: bigger concern with that side of the ball is I
- 12:10Speaker 6: feel like outside of the Clemson game, you haven't looked
- 12:13Speaker 6: prepared to start a game. A & M, you were great.
- 12:15Speaker 6: Marcel helped you out a lot in that, too, because
- 12:17Speaker 6: he's atrocious. 17-0 hole against Ole Miss.
- 12:22Speaker 4: I get it.
- 12:22Speaker 6: Offense put you in some bad spots. You struggled against
- 12:26Speaker 6: Louisiana Tech.
- 12:27Speaker 4: That was offense, too. But, like, you were awesome in
- 12:30Speaker 4: the third quarter.
- 12:31Speaker 6: But, like, I feel like you've struggled in the first
- 12:32Speaker 6: half in your big games a lot. Down the stretch,
- 12:35Speaker 6: you've been great.
- 12:36Speaker 4: Yeah, that's fair. I'm still going to say the most
- 12:42Speaker 4: egregious thing for me is the fourth.
- 12:43Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 12:44Speaker 4: I can't. and egregious, like regretful. Yes. Yes. No, it's, it's,
- 12:49Speaker 4: it's egregious. And maybe it's because it's the one skill
- 12:51Speaker 4: that I had, but I, that is, that is such
- 12:57Speaker 4: a mindset play. And as a player, you've got to
- 13:03Speaker 4: give your coach the ultimate confidence and you doing it.
- 13:06Speaker 4: And then as a coach, you got to have confidence
- 13:08Speaker 4: in your players. How many times have we said, that
- 13:12Speaker 4: we knew in the Florida game or any game that year, hell,
- 13:16Speaker 4: it's not just that one. That's the one that gets highlighted.
- 13:18Speaker 4: If it was fourth and one, we didn't even have
- 13:20Speaker 4: to look over there. We knew what it was. We
- 13:24Speaker 4: knew who was in the game and we knew what
- 13:25Speaker 4: play it was going to be because they trusted us
- 13:30Speaker 4: and we trusted them. And that has to be everybody
- 13:34Speaker 4: moving in the same direction. Like it's not even, and
- 13:37Speaker 4: the last thing that I wanted to do as a
- 13:39Speaker 4: player that was going to get the ball was If
- 13:41Speaker 4: my head coach is putting that faith in me, the
- 13:44Speaker 4: last person I want to let down on the field
- 13:45Speaker 4: is that head coach. He's thinking, I've got a guy
- 13:49Speaker 4: that's going to go find a way with his offensive
- 13:52Speaker 4: line and a fat ankle quarterback to get him the ball.
- 13:55Speaker 4: He's going to go make the first down. It just
- 13:56Speaker 4: didn't seem like they had that play in the playbook
- 14:00Speaker 4: this week. I know.
- 14:02Speaker 8: All they had was direct snap wedge.
- 14:04Speaker 4: And that's frustrating as well. But like fourth and one
- 14:07Speaker 4: is such a mindset mentality of, It's not even, and
- 14:11Speaker 4: Lane's had that in his career. Charlie Weiss has called
- 14:15Speaker 4: those plays in their career. I mean, they were the
- 14:18Speaker 4: first one to start saying, here's where you go for it.
- 14:21Speaker 4: Here's the book. Here's the analytics. And I just don't
- 14:25Speaker 4: feel like right now they don't have the faith in
- 14:29Speaker 4: that point.
- 14:29Speaker 8: Maybe they just thought that the game plan they installed
- 14:32Speaker 8: for this game, maybe they just got different looks than
- 14:34Speaker 8: they were expecting. And like their pullers and their counters
- 14:37Speaker 8: and stuff, they thought were going to hit a little
- 14:39Speaker 8: bit more and they made a mistake with the game plan,
- 14:42Speaker 8: but again, I absolutely egregious, regretful, whatever to me, the
- 14:47Speaker 8: most egregious part of the game moment to the game
- 14:50Speaker 8: that like really shined a light at a bigger problem
- 14:55Speaker 8: was getting a delay game after a timeout.
- 14:58Speaker 4: Yeah. Like to me, that's week six. It can't happen.
- 15:01Speaker 4: It's week six.
- 15:03Speaker 6: You got 80 coaches, literally 80 coaches.
- 15:06Speaker 4: You can't.
- 15:07Speaker 8: And it's a special play. Obviously, they're running an extra
- 15:09Speaker 8: offensive lineman. They tried to. Everybody has to be on
- 15:13Speaker 8: the same page. And so, to me, that was like
- 15:16Speaker 8: a little glimpse of a bigger problem. Now, what that
- 15:19Speaker 8: problem is, I don't know. Your head wasn't in the game.
- 15:23Speaker 8: Not just the player. Coaches, like everybody. Something is off.
- 15:28Speaker 8: To get a delay game after a timeout with 80
- 15:32Speaker 8: freaking coaches.
- 15:36Speaker 4: Is egregious. Beyond Egregious. Jake, you brought it up earlier.
- 15:41Speaker 4: It pissed me. I was so pissed off. I get it.
- 15:47Speaker 6: You brought it up earlier about if I'm the home team,
- 15:50Speaker 6: maybe it's a little bit different. I'm glad you brought
- 15:52Speaker 6: that up because I saw a lot of people say,
- 15:55Speaker 6: Oh yeah. We play for overtime. My personal opinion has
- 15:58Speaker 6: always been, if you're the away team and you go
- 16:00Speaker 6: into overtime, you've almost already lost. That's kind of how
- 16:03Speaker 6: I feel about it. All things are equal. Everybody gets
- 16:06Speaker 6: the same opportunity, friendly environment, home crowd behind your back.
- 16:10Speaker 6: And if you're the road team and we can call
- 16:13Speaker 6: it fourth and one, that was less than a full yard.
- 16:15Speaker 6: It wasn't fourth and half a yard, but it was
- 16:16Speaker 6: less than a full yard. If you can win a
- 16:19Speaker 6: game without having to absolutely give the ball back to
- 16:23Speaker 6: your opponent, I am always for doing that. And you
- 16:26Speaker 6: can say, like Lane has said in the past, well,
- 16:29Speaker 6: I wanted to trust our defense. They played so well.
- 16:31Speaker 6: Then trust your defense. If you put them in a
- 16:33Speaker 6: bad spot, trust them. They just got you out of
- 16:35Speaker 6: it two times before. And, you know, I look at
- 16:38Speaker 6: it like, again, if you don't have to absolutely give
- 16:41Speaker 6: the ball back to someone, don't.
- 16:43Speaker 4: But you can say, oh, well, that's hindsight. No, no, no, no, no.
- 16:47Speaker 6: Me, you, everybody, pretty much in that moment, we're all
- 16:50Speaker 6: saying go for it. Because if you can't get half
- 16:52Speaker 6: a yard, I don't think you deserve to win anyways.
- 16:54Speaker 6: So it's just the whole point of, oh, trust your defense.
- 16:57Speaker 6: I'm talking myself out of it.
- 16:58Speaker 4: Trust them. You put them in a bad spot and
- 17:00Speaker 4: they bailed you out. Go for it. No, I'm with you.
- 17:02Speaker 4: I'm with you. I mean, you put them in a
- 17:04Speaker 4: bad spot when second and five, you decide to throw
- 17:07Speaker 4: the football and Sam makes a play that you just
- 17:09Speaker 4: can't make. And again, and I do hear what you're
- 17:13Speaker 4: saying about, like, having the right play call and not
- 17:17Speaker 4: feeling great about it, I do hear that. But if
- 17:22Speaker 4: you have an unblocked linebacker on fourth and one, that's
- 17:25Speaker 4: my job. That's my job as a runner. I got
- 17:28Speaker 4: to find a way to go through him and carry
- 17:31Speaker 4: him for three feet. I think if you ask the
- 17:41Speaker 4: coaching staff today, Like, they would say, you know, obviously
- 17:46Speaker 4: we'd rather go for it. And like you said earlier,
- 17:49Speaker 4: and you're exactly right, if that situation pops up again
- 17:53Speaker 4: this year, it's not even going to be a thought process. But,
- 17:57Speaker 4: and they're going to have a play, and they're going
- 17:59Speaker 4: to feel good about the play, you should have had
- 18:01Speaker 4: that play ready to go on Saturday. Yeah, no, that punter,
- 18:05Speaker 4: our punter's not going to get any work this year.
- 18:09Speaker 4: We might not punt again.
- 18:10Speaker 6: What was it, a minute 52? And I believe Kentucky
- 18:12Speaker 6: had no timeout. It's like, You can play the whole
- 18:14Speaker 6: scenario of, well, if we don't get it and we
- 18:17Speaker 6: punt it and we do this and this and this.
- 18:18Speaker 4: No, no, no, no. You get it. The game is over.
- 18:21Speaker 4: Just go.
- 18:22Speaker 5: End it.
- 18:24Speaker 4: No one's going to be mad at you for going.
- 18:26Speaker 7: No.
- 18:26Speaker 4: Because you have to put good teams away. You have
- 18:28Speaker 4: to find a way. If you go for it and
- 18:29Speaker 4: you get stopped, I don't think you might have somebody
- 18:32Speaker 4: that doesn't know ball get mad at you or something
- 18:35Speaker 4: and then, like, look back on it and say, you go.
- 18:39Speaker 6: Right, because again, if you can't get half a yard,
- 18:41Speaker 6: then you don't deserve to win.
- 18:42Speaker 4: And like TayTay said, your defense, backs against the wall twice,
- 18:46Speaker 4: and they played well. I don't know. Maybe you call
- 18:50Speaker 4: a different defense. I don't, you know.
- 18:53Speaker 6: You trust them that much, the worst that happens is
- 18:56Speaker 6: they hold them to a field goal like they did.
- 18:58Speaker 4: Yeah, right. All right.
- 19:06Speaker 3: Well.
- 19:13Speaker 4: Other than that, how are y'all doing? Everybody good? Yeah,
- 19:16Speaker 4: I hadn't even talked to Saints yet. That's going to
- 19:18Speaker 4: cheer the room up. It really is.
- 19:19Speaker 8: Actually, I mean, we're not going to be as upset
- 19:21Speaker 8: at that because they're just not good.
- 19:23Speaker 4: Yeah, they're not. They're not good. And then we got
- 19:26Speaker 4: Kendra having one run. Y'all spamming the group chat. Oh, yeah, baby.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Y'all let him get hot.
- 19:32Speaker 4: Man had three yards per carry. That's some good blocks, too.
- 19:35Speaker 2: I mean, come on.
- 19:36Speaker 4: Doesn't that show how bad they played, though? Had a
- 19:38Speaker 4: whole touchdown. It's three yards per carry. You're like, hey,
- 19:40Speaker 4: you had a pretty good game.
- 19:41Speaker 2: He had a touchdown.
- 19:42Speaker 4: Got us all on the board. Come on, guys. Wow.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Oh, we hating on touchdown getters now?
- 19:50Speaker 4: When they hype you up that much, yes. All right,
- 19:54Speaker 4: we'll take a break. We'll get to the New Orleans

- 21:20Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Hester and Flynn, presented by Bayou Automotive.
- 21:27Speaker 7: And she runs through her days with a smile on
- 21:35Speaker 7: her face.
- 21:37Speaker 5: And she runs.
- 22:16Speaker 4: All right, welcome back in. OTB here live from the
- 22:20Speaker 4: Raising Cane Studio. The New Orleans Saints fall to the
- 22:23Speaker 4: Minnesota Vikings 23-13. They get outscored in the fourth quarter, 10-0.
- 22:29Speaker 4: It was tied going into the fourth quarter, but you
- 22:32Speaker 4: don't score in the fourth quarter, and you lose to
- 22:37Speaker 4: Kyler Murray and the Minnesota Vikings. Kyler Murray, pretty efficient.
- 22:41Speaker 4: 24 of 30, 229 yards, one touchdown, no interceptions. Tyler Shuck,
- 22:44Speaker 4: 16 of 25, 96 yards, no touchdowns, two interceptions. Only
- 22:47Speaker 4: took one sack, but Certainly not his best day. And
- 22:59Speaker 4: Minnesota was bringing pressure every play. At one point, the
- 23:04Speaker 4: second half was 90%. 90% in the second half, yeah.
- 23:07Speaker 4: And second half, probably right before the fourth quarter. They
- 23:10Speaker 4: threw that graphic up on the screen, 90%. I told y'all,
- 23:14Speaker 4: somebody's going to get them. The Vikings, they're going to
- 23:17Speaker 4: get God at some point. But it wasn't the Saints.
- 23:19Speaker 4: It was not. Again, Kyle Murray was very efficient. Aaron
- 23:24Speaker 4: Jones ran right through you.
- 23:28Speaker 2: Who was mad?
- 23:29Speaker 7: Huck. Oh, he was mad.
- 23:30Speaker 4: They had him in fantasy. Dang. I think Shuck got
- 23:33Speaker 4: him 1.5 points. Dude, so. Well, look, that's on Huck.
- 23:38Speaker 4: Going against a top five defense. I said it. Did
- 23:41Speaker 4: he have another QB? Yeah, no, he's hurt. Oh, yeah.
- 23:44Speaker 4: Who was this other QB?
- 23:45Speaker 2: That's where I'm at. I had Kirk Fuggins yesterday, and
- 23:48Speaker 2: he did not have a great game.
- 23:49Speaker 4: Oh, his other quarterback is Caleb.
- 23:51Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 23:51Speaker 8: So he's been starting Shuck over Caleb. Well, because he's hurt,
- 23:55Speaker 8: and it's been working out.
- 23:56Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 23:56Speaker 4: A lot of yards.
- 23:57Speaker 6: But one and a half points, he was not happy. Yeah,
- 24:00Speaker 6: I hate to admit it. My confidence level was so low, Matt.
- 24:03Speaker 6: I rolled with your boy, Jordan Love, and it paid
- 24:05Speaker 6: off for me.
- 24:07Speaker 4: Good player. It paid off. Am I right, Jake? Jordan Love? Yeah. No.
- 24:17Speaker 3: Maybe he just needs a Madison beer in his life,
- 24:19Speaker 3: and he'll get better.
- 24:20Speaker 4: Yeah, well, it's pretty close to Madison. Wisconsin. You know. Exactly. Ew.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Love that 70s show. I always think of that when
- 24:30Speaker 2: I hear Wisconsin.
- 24:31Speaker 4: Great show.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Great show.
- 24:33Speaker 4: Mm-hmm. They've tried multiple times to replicate it.
- 24:37Speaker 3: I'm going to put my foot in LSU's ass. Like
- 24:40Speaker 3: Red would always say, he's putting his foot up Eric's ass.
- 24:42Speaker 3: I'm going to put my foot up LSU's ass. They're
- 24:45Speaker 3: going to be playing like that.
- 24:46Speaker 4: What about Saints? Do they get one too?
- 24:47Speaker 2: Oh, foot up their ass.
- 24:51Speaker 6: Saints need just like a pity spanking or something. Like
- 24:54Speaker 6: you almost feel bad for them at this point.
- 24:57Speaker 2: That's what they need.
- 24:59Speaker 4: Cut the head off the snake?
- 25:02Speaker 2: Cut the head off the snake.
- 25:05Speaker 4: This one was as bad as it gets. Even, I
- 25:10Speaker 4: don't know, the Falcons one's bad. I mean, to start
- 25:13Speaker 4: the season, like you go on the road against Detroit
- 25:16Speaker 4: and you have two chances to win that game. You
- 25:19Speaker 4: come back and you beat the Ravens on the road.
- 25:21Speaker 4: The win is holding up. Then you come back and
- 25:26Speaker 4: you play a Raiders team that's much better, and you
- 25:29Speaker 4: lose that one late. You don't score in the second half.
- 25:34Speaker 4: You're still not feeling bad. Then you get embarrassed by Atlanta.
- 25:39Speaker 4: But this one, like this.
- 25:41Speaker 3: One, I.
- 25:43Speaker 4: Don't know what to point of anything you did good
- 25:46Speaker 4: at all.
- 25:47Speaker 2: You didn't do anything good.
- 25:48Speaker 4: You didn't even look good when you were there.
- 25:49Speaker 7: No.
- 25:49Speaker 4: No. It just, it was bad from, I mean, even
- 25:52Speaker 4: like being tied. Jay Shone had a sweet play. Even
- 25:54Speaker 4: being tied in the fourth quarter.
- 25:56Speaker 2: At least once a game.
- 25:57Speaker 4: It was still like, first downs. You had nine first downs.
- 26:01Speaker 4: They had 18. They doubled you up. On third down,
- 26:04Speaker 4: you were two of 10. That's 20% for those doing
- 26:08Speaker 4: math at home. Holy cow. And you gave up nine
- 26:11Speaker 4: of 18. You had 142 total yards in this game.
- 26:19Speaker 4: From the very start to the finish, 142. You had
- 26:23Speaker 4: more penalties than they had. Time of possession. 39-37 for
- 26:30Speaker 4: the Vikings. 20-23 for the Saints. They were toying with you.
- 26:40Speaker 4: But you can't get the ball back. Man, it's as
- 26:46Speaker 4: bad as the LSU game. is and was and should
- 26:50Speaker 4: be talked about, LSU is going to win more games
- 26:52Speaker 4: this year. Is it going to be what we wanted
- 26:55Speaker 4: it to be? Doesn't look like it right now. But
- 26:58Speaker 4: they're going to win games. They might win a big game.
- 27:00Speaker 4: Probably going to win a big game. The Saints team
- 27:04Speaker 4: that we're watching, for all the things that we thought
- 27:07Speaker 4: they were going to be, even when they were 1-2,
- 27:10Speaker 4: all of that's gone right now. And if you can't,
- 27:17Speaker 4: There's so many things, like, if you can't do, you're not. Like,
- 27:20Speaker 4: if you can't run the football better than what they're
- 27:22Speaker 4: currently doing, it doesn't really matter what you do in
- 27:24Speaker 4: the past. In the passing game, the first couple of
- 27:26Speaker 4: weeks was trying everything you could. But, like, this game
- 27:29Speaker 4: showed you exactly what happens when a team doesn't have
- 27:32Speaker 4: to worry about you running the football at all, and
- 27:35Speaker 4: they're going to get after your young quarterback, and they
- 27:39Speaker 4: had him in a blender. You ran the football 17
- 27:42Speaker 4: times for 55 yards. Y'all, this is bad. This rushing
- 27:48Speaker 4: attack is as bad as it gets. Kendre Miller, 10 carries,
- 27:52Speaker 4: 30 yards. C.J. Donaldson, 4 carries, 13 yards. Alvin Kamara,
- 27:56Speaker 4: 3 carries, 12 yards. You were having success throwing the football,
- 28:03Speaker 4: but now teams know they don't have to do anything
- 28:05Speaker 4: special to stop you running it. So what do you do? Well,
- 28:08Speaker 4: we're going to give our attention to stopping Tyler Shuck
- 28:10Speaker 4: and Chris Alave, Devon Bailey. That's what you saw in
- 28:13Speaker 4: this game against an elite defense. That's the blueprint moving
- 28:17Speaker 4: forward against the New Orleans Saints. And you're 0-3 at
- 28:20Speaker 4: home now. You're about to go on the road and
- 28:23Speaker 4: play against the Giants. Then you go to Paris to
- 28:27Speaker 4: play the Steelers. And then you play the Cleveland Browns
- 28:33Speaker 4: and the Carolina Panthers. I would love to say that
- 28:38Speaker 4: those are winnable games because– You look at the Giants
- 28:43Speaker 4: and Jameis, and they got lucky to come out with
- 28:46Speaker 4: a tie yesterday. I don't have faith right now that
- 28:49Speaker 4: the Saints are going to be able to do what
- 28:51Speaker 4: it takes to play a full 60-minute game, run the
- 28:55Speaker 4: football how you need to run it in the National
- 28:57Speaker 4: Football League, and not expose the only thing you're good
- 29:00Speaker 4: at right now, which is throwing the football, which they
- 29:02Speaker 4: got exposed on Sunday.
- 29:04Speaker 8: The last two weeks have been demoralizing probably for Saints
- 29:08Speaker 8: fans and And I'm talking to 100% of the Saints fans. Because,
- 29:13Speaker 8: just like you said, one and two didn't feel that bad.
- 29:17Speaker 8: Because it was a pretty good one and two. However,
- 29:23Speaker 8: the last two weeks have been embarrassing.
- 29:25Speaker 2: It's like you've gotten worse.
- 29:26Speaker 8: It's like you've gotten worse. And people have adjusted to,
- 29:30Speaker 8: just like Jake said, people have adjusted to the zero
- 29:35Speaker 8: ability to establish a running game. And Kellen Moore... Thank you.
- 29:40Speaker 8: good dude but like you're doing yourself zero favors with
- 29:44Speaker 8: saints fans hold somebody account sometimes like yeah you want
- 29:49Speaker 8: to keep everything within the building and the former player
- 29:51Speaker 8: and him's like everybody everything should stay within the building
- 29:56Speaker 8: But at some point, all of the great coaches do it.
- 29:58Speaker 8: They threaten guys in the media. They hold people accountable
- 30:04Speaker 8: in the media. Sometimes it gets to that point. And
- 30:09Speaker 8: not saying anything.
- 30:10Speaker 4: They've regressed. I mean, you can't watch that team and
- 30:13Speaker 4: not say anything. They have 100% regress. They look worse.
- 30:17Speaker 4: That's not good. Early, first year, you can, you know,
- 30:23Speaker 4: you get some leeway. This year, it's gotten worse. As
- 30:29Speaker 4: you go down the road, it's gotten worse and worse.
- 30:32Speaker 4: And this draft class right now, it ain't looking good.
- 30:39Speaker 4: You're getting nothing from this draft class. And Jordan Tyson, again,
- 30:47Speaker 4: if this was a situation where he played every game
- 30:49Speaker 4: in college and he had a hammy, you'd be like, man,
- 30:51Speaker 4: that's bad luck. But when the thing that was the biggest...
- 30:58Speaker 4: Calls for concern in Jordan Tyson is playing out exactly
- 31:03Speaker 4: how you didn't want it to play out, soft tissue.
- 31:06Speaker 4: And we're sitting here, checks the watch, October the 12th,
- 31:09Speaker 4: and he hasn't ran a single route yet. That's going
- 31:14Speaker 4: to be talked about because that was the flip on
- 31:17Speaker 4: him coming out of college. Not one. Or zag? Not
- 31:20Speaker 4: a zag, not a now, not a post, not a corner, nothing.
- 31:25Speaker 2: Typical Saints. It really is. And the thing that's annoying
- 31:28Speaker 2: is that you had some hope.
- 31:29Speaker 3: Because Kellen last season and Tyler Shuck toward the end
- 31:33Speaker 3: of the season looks like they were putting it all together.
- 31:35Speaker 3: And you're like, okay, cool. We have like a whole
- 31:38Speaker 3: off season to get better. We drafted well, Jordan Tyson.
- 31:41Speaker 3: I mean, he's injury prone, but we'll see. It turns
- 31:43Speaker 3: out like injury prone is injury prone.
- 31:46Speaker 2: It doesn't matter.
- 31:46Speaker 3: And then our good friend, Ross Jackson had this last
- 31:51Speaker 3: night and Kellen Moore's 22 games with the saints seven
- 31:54Speaker 3: for 15.
- 31:54Speaker 2: Three and eight at home.
- 31:56Speaker 3: Have never scored more than seven in the first quarter,
- 31:59Speaker 3: one first quarter lead, four first half leads, fewest first
- 32:03Speaker 3: quarter points scored at 35, first quarter three and outs 29,
- 32:08Speaker 3: and the third worst turnover margin, minus 10.
- 32:14Speaker 2: And Kellen's 22 games here.
- 32:16Speaker 3: And he's just going to sit up there and, like,
- 32:18Speaker 3: put on his little nerd voice and be like, we
- 32:20Speaker 3: just got to do better, guys.
- 32:22Speaker 2: Okay, so what are you going to do to make
- 32:25Speaker 2: sure that we– get better.
- 32:26Speaker 4: Matt, how much of this offensive have you broken down?
- 32:30Speaker 6: Because I'm watching the game yesterday, and I'm like, what
- 32:33Speaker 6: is their goal offensively? What do they want to accomplish?
- 32:37Speaker 6: What is their bread and butter?
- 32:38Speaker 4: They don't have anything. The question you're trying to ask
- 32:41Speaker 4: yourself is, what's their identity?
- 32:43Speaker 6: Yeah, what is their identity? When I'm watching, I'm like, oh,
- 32:46Speaker 6: you just send an extra blitzer and play coverage. You
- 32:49Speaker 6: got this team beat. What do they do well?
- 32:53Speaker 8: Before recently I said they threw the ball well but
- 33:00Speaker 8: when you have no threat in the play action game
- 33:03Speaker 8: like how many play action passes you calling when you're
- 33:08Speaker 8: you're handing it to Kendra yeah you know like it's
- 33:11Speaker 8: there's not a lot of threat there so identity is
- 33:17Speaker 8: tough to find and I'm not saying it's easy for
- 33:19Speaker 8: this coaching staff to try to find that identity because
- 33:22Speaker 8: you are not working with a lot In that running game.
- 33:27Speaker 8: So that makes it really challenging in the passing game.
- 33:30Speaker 8: So to answer your question, I hadn't really broken down
- 33:32Speaker 8: a whole heck of a lot. I just watched kind
- 33:36Speaker 8: of with everybody else and noticed the things that were noticed.
- 33:38Speaker 8: I knew Drew Brees on the call yesterday. He wasn't
- 33:42Speaker 8: like real impressed.
- 33:46Speaker 4: He didn't think it was good.
- 33:47Speaker 8: I think he slowly was realizing throughout the game, like
- 33:50Speaker 8: in more and more throughout the game, like, oh, yeah, no, we're.
- 33:52Speaker 7: Bad, bad.
- 33:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:55Speaker 4: And it's bad in a lot of spots, and so it's,
- 33:59Speaker 4: you know, you start saying, oh, man, like, what can
- 34:01Speaker 4: you do? Like, what can you add? And I think
- 34:04Speaker 4: that is such a broad board. But I know one
- 34:10Speaker 4: thing that they have to add, and I don't know,
- 34:14Speaker 4: no matter who the coach is, they got to add
- 34:17Speaker 4: a number one corner on this team. Yeah. They don't
- 34:20Speaker 4: have one.
- 34:21Speaker 6: You did a really poor job in the offseason dressing them.
- 34:24Speaker 4: And I don't know if they would have drafted one
- 34:28Speaker 4: if the Chiefs don't move up and take Montsour to
- 34:30Speaker 4: the lane. I don't know that. Because he's playing really well.
- 34:37Speaker 4: But you don't have one. And you don't right now
- 34:39Speaker 4: have one that's currently a distant cousin to one. You
- 34:43Speaker 4: don't have a guy that maybe, might, could be, ain't
- 34:49Speaker 4: even close. You struggle to say you got a solid two. That,
- 34:55Speaker 4: to me, every game I've watched, that stands out. Because
- 35:01Speaker 4: I actually think up front, certainly on the edges, he's
- 35:05Speaker 4: done some nice things. The interior, I've got to see
- 35:08Speaker 4: more from Christian Miller. He's just got to play more.
- 35:10Speaker 4: He played 28 snaps in this game, and it wasn't bad.
- 35:13Speaker 4: The 28 snaps that he did play, actually, he held
- 35:16Speaker 4: his own. You took him in the second round. He's
- 35:19Speaker 4: got to be impactful. Brian Brzee went out. I know that.
- 35:22Speaker 4: We all know that. Now, he had to have a
- 35:24Speaker 4: better year. I thought Carl Granderson played well in 47 snaps.
- 35:30Speaker 4: Chase Young's your best defensive player. That's not close. By far, yeah.
- 35:33Speaker 4: It's not even close. It's fun watching him play.
- 35:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:35Speaker 6: From a guy that was like, people said he was
- 35:38Speaker 6: lazy at one point.
- 35:38Speaker 4: I even thought that Danny Stutzman actually played pretty decent.
- 35:44Speaker 4: But the back end right now, receivers are watching right now.

- 38:09Speaker 4: can have whatever you want. They got it all ready
- 38:11Speaker 4: for you. Go to rouses.com. All right, let's go around
- 38:14Speaker 4: the room. The thing that's most frustrating about watching the
- 38:18Speaker 4: New Orleans Saints play.
- 38:22Speaker 3: Your inability to run the ball and inability to stop
- 38:26Speaker 3: the run.
- 38:26Speaker 4: Love it.
- 38:27Speaker 2: Both sides of just, like, running the ball is god-awful.
- 38:32Speaker 4: Yep, yep.
- 38:32Speaker 6: I actually found a new most frustrating thing this weekend.
- 38:35Speaker 6: I had the game on and the remote slipped through
- 38:39Speaker 6: the couch and I couldn't find it to change the channel.
- 38:42Speaker 6: That was probably the most frustrating thing.
- 38:44Speaker 4: You had to watch that?
- 38:45Speaker 6: I had to keep it on longer. That was pretty frustrating.
- 38:48Speaker 8: I honestly can't really answer this question because I watched
- 38:50Speaker 8: a little bit of it yesterday and then I just
- 38:51Speaker 8: went out and played outside. I will say the most
- 38:57Speaker 8: frustrating part for me is hearing no accountability being taken
- 39:02Speaker 8: after the game.
- 39:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 39:03Speaker 2: Zero.
- 39:03Speaker 4: That's where I was going to go. Was it? Yeah, nice.
- 39:06Speaker 2: Just straight coach speak.
- 39:07Speaker 4: I saw that after I played outside. I didn't watch
- 39:09Speaker 4: the game. I mean, the running game is obvious to me. Like,
- 39:13Speaker 4: if a team can't run the football, that is a–
- 39:16Speaker 4: and I talked about it with LSU in the fourth
- 39:18Speaker 4: and one. That's a mindset, it's a mentality. Like, establish
- 39:21Speaker 4: the run. Come up with better running plays. Like, run
- 39:24Speaker 4: right at them. And if it's not working, go to
- 39:26Speaker 4: outside zone. If it's not working, go to some puller. Like,
- 39:29Speaker 4: try everything. don't just keep saying we can't do it
- 39:33Speaker 4: so that's frustrating but the thing that's the most frustrating
- 39:38Speaker 4: is it's just all shucks and it's not we got
- 39:42Speaker 4: hey it's on me we got to be better I like,
- 39:46Speaker 4: we got to run the football. We got to challenge ourselves.
- 39:48Speaker 4: We got to stop the pass better. We like, and
- 39:52Speaker 4: players like Eric McCoy came out yesterday and he was
- 39:55Speaker 4: awesome after the game. I mean, he basically said that, right?
- 39:58Speaker 4: The players are taken. Like, he's like, this is, this
- 40:01Speaker 4: is not good. He said, you lose three home games already.
- 40:06Speaker 4: And just kind of went off on a little bit
- 40:07Speaker 4: of a tangent. I'll see if we can get the sound.
- 40:09Speaker 4: It's got, it's got some, Oh, it's got some swear
- 40:12Speaker 4: words in it, but it might already be bleeped out. But, Like,
- 40:15Speaker 4: at least, like, he as a leader is like, what
- 40:18Speaker 4: are we doing?
- 40:19Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 40:19Speaker 4: I need to see that from Kellen.
- 40:21Speaker 2: You're not going to.
- 40:22Speaker 4: And if it doesn't happen, he's going to stay the same.
- 40:24Speaker 2: I think, like, Kellen is a really good offensive coordinator.
- 40:30Speaker 4: That's fair. And we don't know if he's.
- 40:31Speaker 2: You don't have to, like, lead anybody, really.
- 40:34Speaker 4: And I know, look, and you said there's a lot
- 40:36Speaker 4: of former players on that staff. And sometimes you're a
- 40:39Speaker 4: little bit more reluctant. But you can't be. Like, just like,
- 40:43Speaker 4: same thing, like, in this job. It's not fun saying
- 40:47Speaker 4: stuff about guys that are doing the same thing that
- 40:49Speaker 4: you did. And, look, you had failures as well. But
- 40:53Speaker 4: it's part of the job. Just like being a head coach.
- 40:55Speaker 4: Part of the job. Hey, I know if I didn't
- 40:58Speaker 4: play well, North Turner was going to get behind a
- 40:59Speaker 4: microphone and say, hey, our fullback's got to play better. Yeah,
- 41:01Speaker 4: we might have to look at our options. And if
- 41:05Speaker 4: you went in the game and you didn't play well,
- 41:06Speaker 4: Mike McCarthy would have said, hey, when Aaron's down, we
- 41:09Speaker 4: need somebody better. Yeah, we're probably going to get some
- 41:10Speaker 4: guys in to work out this week. And were you
- 41:13Speaker 4: and Mike close? Like, y'all were good friends? Very good.
- 41:16Speaker 4: I did Norris' podcast last week. But if I play bad,
- 41:19Speaker 4: he's going to be the first person to say, you
- 41:21Speaker 4: got to play better.
- 41:22Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 41:22Speaker 4: It's part of the job. You got to do it. Now,
- 41:26Speaker 4: I'm not saying you become an a-hole, but you say it.
- 41:31Speaker 4: And then guess what? I hear that and I'm like, oh, hell, man,
- 41:33Speaker 4: I got to play better. I got the head coach
- 41:35Speaker 4: out there saying I got to play better. I don't
- 41:38Speaker 4: take it sensitive. I say, no, me, I pat my chest.
- 41:42Speaker 4: There's none of that going on right now. I think
- 41:45Speaker 4: Shuck has more than the head coach.
- 41:47Speaker 8: It's a results-oriented world out there, and I think some
- 41:50Speaker 8: people in this day and age try to hide that fact,
- 41:54Speaker 8: at least publicly. Again, former players are probably trying to
- 41:57Speaker 8: keep it all within the circle.
- 41:58Speaker 4: That's fine. There's a way to do it without being
- 42:00Speaker 4: an a-hole out there, but also making sure who– Once
- 42:04Speaker 4: you're a coach, you're not a player anymore. No doubt
- 42:07Speaker 4: about it. You're a coach. We'll take a break after this.
- 42:10Speaker 4: Which coach talked to his team through the media more
- 42:14Speaker 4: than any coach ever? Anybody. Belichick did it a lot.
- 42:19Speaker 4: He did. He was one in the NFL. There's a
- 42:21Speaker 4: college coach. Nick Saban. Nick Saban. Hey, do they coach together?
- 42:26Speaker 4: Do they know each other? I think so. Decent. Did
- 42:28Speaker 4: they ever win? Are they pretty good? They won a
- 42:30Speaker 4: few times. Yeah. Would they talk to their team through
- 42:33Speaker 4: the media almost every time they talked to the media?
- 42:35Speaker 4: Every time. That's how you do it. Not the way
- 42:37Speaker 4: it's being done in New Orleans right now. We'll have
- 42:40Speaker 4: more when we come back here on OTB.
- 42:42Speaker 1: Off the bench.
- 42:44Speaker 4: All right, go to centralplumbing.org, centralplumbing.org. It's always been in
- 42:48Speaker 4: the greater Baton Rouge area, but now it is in
- 42:50Speaker 4: Lafayette as well. That's right. They are expanding. They are growing. Now,
- 42:54Speaker 4: they've been here in this area since the 1970s, so
- 42:57Speaker 4: you know exactly what you're getting with central plumbing. I
- 42:59Speaker 4: had them come out to the house last week. We
- 43:01Speaker 4: had a gas lantern. One was working. The other one
- 43:04Speaker 4: was not getting enough gas, and they came in. They
- 43:07Speaker 4: saw the problem. They fixed the problem. Guess what? Boom.
- 43:10Speaker 4: We got two gas lanterns working. That might not even
- 43:12Speaker 4: be something that you're thinking about when it comes to plumbing.
- 43:15Speaker 4: But that is something that they are going to do.
- 43:17Speaker 4: That's who you call, right, when you need a gas
- 43:19Speaker 4: line fixed. They do it all. Renovations. Quick projects like
- 43:24Speaker 4: I had. Go to centralplumbing.org. Centralplumbing.
- 43:26Speaker 8: Centralplumbing.org. The plumbing experts. Payne family has been doing it
- 43:30Speaker 8: a long time. They are a third generation plumber. Plumbing company.
- 43:34Speaker 8: You know, if you've been doing a business that long,
- 43:36Speaker 8: you're doing things the right way, treating people the right way,
- 43:39Speaker 8: and you're experts at what you do. So give them
- 43:41Speaker 8: a call if you've got a plumbing aid, commercial, residential,
- 43:43Speaker 8: doesn't matter, centralplumbing.org.
- 43:49Speaker 1: Off the bench with Hester and Flynn, presented by Bayou Automotive.
- 44:03Speaker 4: All right, welcome back in OTB. Matt, who sings this song? Ooh,
- 44:08Speaker 4: give me a second. I don't know.
- 44:11Speaker 3: Hey, dude.
- 44:12Speaker 4: I probably do.
- 44:14Speaker 2: We've done this.
- 44:15Speaker 4: Taylor, who sings this song? Don't ask me this. We've
- 44:17Speaker 4: done this. I thought Wallflower.
- 44:20Speaker 2: Spells his name weird.
- 44:22Speaker 4: Great name.
- 44:23Speaker 2: It's a normal name.
- 44:24Speaker 4: Great name.
- 44:25Speaker 2: But he spells it different.
- 44:28Speaker 4: Wallflower is the band. The lead singer is.
- 44:31Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 44:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 44:33Speaker 4: And his son's name is? Reggie.
- 44:35Speaker 2: Reggie?
- 44:35Speaker 4: Reggie Dunn. That's Jacob.
- 44:40Speaker 2: But with a K instead of a C. So weird.
- 44:45Speaker 4: Gotcha. People with J's, man. Always spelling their names weird.
- 44:49Speaker 4: With J's? Give me another one. Jace. True.
- 44:54Speaker 5: Oh, bro. You know what?
- 44:56Speaker 2: I'll give you that for having that ready to go. No,
- 45:00Speaker 2: he doesn't like the way Jace Thomas.
- 45:02Speaker 6: I guess they're both, but yeah, Thomas is.
- 45:03Speaker 4: I'm not saying I didn't like it.
- 45:05Speaker 2: It's a questionable way to spell it.
- 45:07Speaker 4: I don't love it. People get creative with Jackson, too.
- 45:12Speaker 4: They do. For sure. J-A-X-O-N. Jackson Dart's weird. His is X-S,
- 45:17Speaker 4: so it's Jackson. You don't need the S if you
- 45:21Speaker 4: have the S.
- 45:21Speaker 2: Why don't you just spell it like a normal person?
- 45:24Speaker 4: What did you say, Matt? It was his dad's name, Jax. Oh,
- 45:27Speaker 4: like Jax. Oh, and he's Jax's son. Son.
- 45:30Speaker 1: Ooh.
- 45:31Speaker 4: It's not just a name. It's a title as well.
- 45:33Speaker 4: I always felt Jax was like the good Lord intended.
- 45:35Speaker 2: Yeah, like a normal person.
- 45:37Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 45:37Speaker 4: You think the first Jaxon ever was his father was Jax?
- 45:41Speaker 4: For sure.
- 45:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:42Speaker 4: Yeah. I got it. Simple. Y'all, I think I heard Marler.
- 45:47Speaker 2: I heard him for sure.
- 45:48Speaker 4: He's in the hallway.
- 45:50Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 45:50Speaker 4: For sure. I'm ready.
- 45:51Speaker 2: What was the first thing he said to you?
- 45:53Speaker 7: I don't.
- 45:54Speaker 2: I'm just curious.
- 45:54Speaker 4: I don't know. I don't know today, y'all. I don't.
- 45:56Speaker 4: I'm going to be honest. He told me.
- 45:58Speaker 6: Some about Sellers?
- 46:01Speaker 7: No.
- 46:02Speaker 4: My man dancing, Rick.
- 46:03Speaker 6: Because when we were here with Matt, he loved that.
- 46:06Speaker 6: There's good energy out there, for sure.
- 46:08Speaker 4: I'm not in that mood today. I know. Well, you're
- 46:10Speaker 4: going to hear a lot about South Carolina.
- 46:12Speaker 2: Just going to have to take it.
- 46:14Speaker 4: They dominated. I don't. They dominated Florida.
- 46:18Speaker 5: Kindly leave.
- 46:20Speaker 4: Which is crazy.
- 46:22Speaker 2: Florida going downhill.
- 46:24Speaker 4: They're not very good. Going down, down.
- 46:26Speaker 2: They got the Josh Ray curse.
- 46:27Speaker 4: They'll always have Ole Miss, though. They will. They'll always
- 46:30Speaker 4: have that. Can't take that away from them. All right.
- 46:34Speaker 4: We'll always have A & M. Marler Monday when we
- 46:37Speaker 4: come back.
