- 0:02Speaker 1: Welcome into Off the Bench, presented by All-Star Toyota.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Ooh, you're scary.
- 0:09Speaker 1: We're bringing you the spookiest sports talk in town. With
- 0:14Speaker 1: Jacob Hester and Matt Lynn.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Terrifying and terrible. Live from the haunted Raising Cane's studio.
- 0:22Speaker 4: Here's Jacob Hester and Matt Lynn.
- 0:25Speaker 5: Oh, my God.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Yo!
- 0:48Speaker 6: Welcome in!
- 0:53Speaker 7: OTB here on this Wednesday morning. Live from the Raising
- 0:58Speaker 7: Cane's studio. Our Wednesday show is brought to you by
- 1:01Speaker 7: our friends over at Poncho. Go to ponchooutdoors.com slash offthebench.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Forward slash poncho. Backward slash. It doesn't really matter. Just
- 1:10Speaker 3: hit a slash. I think it does. It's a backward slash.
- 1:13Speaker 3: I would go forward. I don't really know. No, it's back.
- 1:18Speaker 4: It goes.
- 1:21Speaker 3: That-a-way. Yep. Right? Yeah. Huh? I think so.
- 1:25Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:25Speaker 3: I think you're right. Backslash. Off the bench. Hey, good morning.
- 1:31Speaker 3: Good morning. How we doing? Well, honestly, you want me
- 1:38Speaker 3: to be honest with you?
- 1:39Speaker 7: I didn't ask you to lie to me.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Well, sometimes people lie a little bit, little white lies,
- 1:43Speaker 3: just to kind of get past to the next subject.
- 1:45Speaker 3: I'm feeling great.
- 1:47Speaker 7: Blessed and highly favored.
- 1:48Speaker 3: Usually Wednesdays are not my day because, you know, got that,
- 1:52Speaker 3: doesn't have that Tuesday feeling. Right. But today, ninja get up.
- 1:57Speaker 3: That doesn't happen on a Wednesday very often, so I'm
- 1:59Speaker 3: feeling good. Got good energy levels.
- 2:02Speaker 7: Did something happen for the ninja get up?
- 2:06Speaker 3: No, I don't know what happened.
- 2:08Speaker 7: Something Tuesday.
- 2:08Speaker 3: I think it's just like, sometimes you get that perfect
- 2:10Speaker 3: wake up. Like I woke up an hour before the
- 2:14Speaker 3: alarm went off and like, I woke up and I
- 2:17Speaker 3: wasn't feeling great. I was like, Oh God, it's probably
- 2:19Speaker 3: time to probably time to go. Probably time to get up,
- 2:21Speaker 3: put my feet on the floor and get to the grind. Yeah.
- 2:24Speaker 3: But then I looked at my clock and it's beautiful.
- 2:26Speaker 3: It said four 45 and I was like, Whoa, I
- 2:31Speaker 3: got another hour of this. Heck yeah. Good for you.
- 2:36Speaker 3: And then I got another hour. Then I woke up,
- 2:38Speaker 3: Ninja flipped out, and got dressed, came here. Good for you.
- 2:41Speaker 3: Had me a little sandwich. Got a coffee. Wow, they
- 2:44Speaker 3: only had one sandwich. Been making crazy slides and graphics
- 2:48Speaker 3: over here. That's weird, right?
- 2:50Speaker 6: Weird they only had one. Matt got the last one.
- 2:52Speaker 7: They only had one sandwich at Starbucks.
- 2:54Speaker 5: Second, this dude's been sending us slides since Monday night.
- 2:58Speaker 3: Sunday. So many slides.
- 3:02Speaker 5: What do y'all think of this slide?
- 3:04Speaker 3: Like, as long as the information's right, it's good.
- 3:06Speaker 4: I know.
- 3:06Speaker 5: I'm like, is the info correct?
- 3:07Speaker 3: That's basically why I'm sending it to you. I need
- 3:09Speaker 3: a proof.
- 3:10Speaker 6: I was changing the panels, and he had this big
- 3:12Speaker 6: Kentucky graphic. I was like, oh, Matt, you made another one?
- 3:14Speaker 6: He's like, you have no idea how many of these
- 3:16Speaker 6: I have.
- 3:17Speaker 3: I think you're going to screw it up. I got
- 3:19Speaker 3: so many graphics. Not a big deal. Graphic designer. Nobody's
- 3:27Speaker 3: called you that. Not one person. Can I be honest
- 3:30Speaker 3: with y'all? Again, yes.
- 3:33Speaker 4: Okay.
- 3:33Speaker 3: You don't have to. Second time. Second time in four minutes.
- 3:35Speaker 5: Please.
- 3:36Speaker 7: Please just tell us the truth.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Look, I've been in the depths with George Paul Thomas recently.
- 3:44Speaker 7: Uh-huh.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Been in the lab. I know.
- 3:46Speaker 5: Y'all been beefing.
- 3:47Speaker 3: Me and him. We ain't been beefing. A little bit. Well,
- 3:51Speaker 3: we beef a little bit, okay? Because he lies to me.
- 3:53Speaker 3: Sometimes he lies to me. Sometimes he tells me he's
- 3:56Speaker 3: doing one thing and then completely lies.
- 3:58Speaker 5: Typical man.
- 3:59Speaker 3: But, like, look, we have conversations. We just sit down
- 4:02Speaker 3: and talk.
- 4:02Speaker 7: Okay.
- 4:03Speaker 3: And I'm afraid, and I think a lot of people
- 4:09Speaker 3: know this, it terrifies me. I'm going to use the
- 4:12Speaker 3: technology because it's there. I can't tell by how much
- 4:14Speaker 3: you use it. I use the technology that's available, but
- 4:17Speaker 3: my God, they got to do something about this because
- 4:19Speaker 3: there's some graphic designers out there that make a living
- 4:24Speaker 3: getting paid per hour that probably aren't getting paid per
- 4:28Speaker 3: hour right now because you can just type it right
- 4:30Speaker 3: in there.
- 4:31Speaker 6: So it's one of those things where you're like, I'm
- 4:33Speaker 6: going to use it, but I'm not happy about it.
- 4:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm going to use it. I don't feel strongly
- 4:39Speaker 3: enough that me individually is going to make a big
- 4:42Speaker 3: enough difference if I take a stand today. I don't
- 4:46Speaker 3: think that's going to happen.
- 4:48Speaker 5: I'm pretty sure you're like the most influential person of
- 4:51Speaker 5: our time. So if you were.
- 4:53Speaker 8: To look at the panels.
- 4:55Speaker 3: That is my neck. The neck's double too. I don't
- 5:03Speaker 3: like that. I don't like next level. Anyway, I fear
- 5:07Speaker 3: for people and their jobs with AI.
- 5:10Speaker 7: But also you can tell when a graphic's been made
- 5:12Speaker 7: with AI.
- 5:14Speaker 3: Okay, but does that make it bad? I don't think
- 5:20Speaker 3: it makes it good. It's like you're not handmade. Some,
- 5:25Speaker 3: I mean, it's like anything. Like anything that's not made
- 5:29Speaker 3: as well. It doesn't make it good, but does it
- 5:30Speaker 3: make it bad? Some of them are real bad. Some
- 5:34Speaker 3: of it's slop.
- 5:35Speaker 7: I mean, there's some that people push send on.
- 5:38Speaker 3: I'm like... Some are bad. I just told it to
- 5:41Speaker 3: do a little bit better. You can definitely tell that
- 5:43Speaker 3: these ones are made. And I'm the hand up. I mean,
- 5:46Speaker 3: we've all done it.
- 5:50Speaker 5: The one you made last week, and I was like,
- 5:51Speaker 5: what if we didn't have.
- 5:52Speaker 7: Y'all on the.
- 5:54Speaker 5: Because y'all looked super.
- 5:56Speaker 7: AI on it.
- 5:56Speaker 8: When I sent it, I said, we look like aliens.
- 5:58Speaker 3: This one looks like... I'll show it to you in
- 6:00Speaker 3: a little bit. I'm just telling Jake. This one looks
- 6:03Speaker 3: like it, but it doesn't have.
- 6:04Speaker 5: The cat scratch font.
- 6:08Speaker 3: Most of them have the scratch.
- 6:10Speaker 5: Yeah, I know what you're talking about.
- 6:11Speaker 3: This one doesn't have that, but it still looks like it.
- 6:13Speaker 7: Usually when I do one, it's like put collegiate letters
- 6:16Speaker 7: on it.
- 6:16Speaker 3: There's the black letters. I didn't do it with this one.
- 6:18Speaker 3: It just looks a little classy. Collegiate letters. I think
- 6:23Speaker 3: we played collegiate this week. Oh, nice. Good thing.
- 6:28Speaker 6: It's so funny. I was thinking back on that the
- 6:31Speaker 6: other day, and you were like, guys, they've never heard
- 6:32Speaker 6: this word either. Let me sound it out for them.
- 6:35Speaker 6: I'm like, nah, dude, that's collegiate. Yeah, man, I went
- 6:38Speaker 6: into that word super confident. You didn't.
- 6:42Speaker 3: You said, I don't know how to pronounce this. I
- 6:44Speaker 3: went into it mentally confident. I went into it like,
- 6:48Speaker 3: I'm going to nail this one. Watch this. Watch me cook.
- 6:51Speaker 3: And I was like, wait a minute. I don't know
- 6:53Speaker 3: this word. And it nailed you, buddy. Got me.
- 6:58Speaker 6: Hey, it made for a good laugh.
- 7:00Speaker 3: Hey, that's what I'm here for.
- 7:01Speaker 7: I mean, it's not quite Mario's so virginity.
- 7:04Speaker 5: But I really think that I could excuse that a
- 7:07Speaker 5: lot more than I can excuse collegiate.
- 7:09Speaker 7: That's probably fair, too.
- 7:10Speaker 5: Like, sovereignty is spelled a weird way.
- 7:12Speaker 7: And you don't use it every day.
- 7:13Speaker 5: You don't see it as much.
- 7:15Speaker 3: Of that very often. I would have crushed that word.
- 7:19Speaker 5: Oh, actually, so there's this trend on TikTok where they
- 7:21Speaker 5: get people to read words. And I'm going to get
- 7:24Speaker 5: you to do it. We're going to make a TikTok later.
- 7:26Speaker 3: I mean.
- 7:27Speaker 5: Actually, we're making two. One's a physical challenge. And then
- 7:32Speaker 5: the other one, I'm going to make you say words.
- 7:35Speaker 3: You may or may not know how to pronounce. I
- 7:37Speaker 3: can read. That's one of my things I can do.
- 7:41Speaker 3: One of my talents.
- 7:42Speaker 5: We're going to find out.
- 7:43Speaker 3: One of my talents. You've got a microphone in front
- 7:48Speaker 3: of your face for 15 hours and you're deprived of
- 7:50Speaker 3: sleep and you're just going.
- 7:52Speaker 7: Sensitivity fine coming?
- 7:54Speaker 3: Feels like it.
- 7:56Speaker 7: I say words wrong all the time.
- 7:57Speaker 3: It's fine.
- 7:58Speaker 7: Do I say it as bad as collegiate? Maybe not.
- 8:02Speaker 3: I mean, honestly, it's not a real word. Collegiate's not? Nope.
- 8:06Speaker 5: Weird coming from a collegiate athlete.
- 8:09Speaker 3: Former. I'm just a college athlete. Did anybody ever say collegiate?
- 8:14Speaker 4: No.
- 8:14Speaker 3: No one uses that word unless you're in, like, England.
- 8:20Speaker 3: They call it university in England. Ah, they do.
- 8:23Speaker 4: So.
- 8:25Speaker 3: Canada.
- 8:27Speaker 7: Don't care about Canada.
- 8:28Speaker 4: Canada.
- 8:29Speaker 3: Me neither.
- 8:29Speaker 8: That's why I don't care about that word. They lost
- 8:31Speaker 8: to the U.S. men's national team 1-0 last night.
- 8:34Speaker 4: God, dude.
- 8:35Speaker 6: Is Canada going to win anything?
- 8:37Speaker 3: No. Why would they?
- 8:38Speaker 6: I mean, men's and women's hockey, that's supposed to be
- 8:40Speaker 6: their sport. We beat them in that. We beat them
- 8:42Speaker 6: in this.
- 8:42Speaker 7: That's sad.
- 8:43Speaker 5: Like, we beat you at your one thing that we're
- 8:46Speaker 5: not even, like, super invested in.
- 8:48Speaker 3: That's like a fourth sport. I'm pretty sure we beat
- 8:50Speaker 3: the brakes off them in curling recently, too. There you go.
- 8:53Speaker 6: I mean, imagine a country so boring that they're like,
- 8:56Speaker 6: we got to bring in some people.
- 8:58Speaker 3: What can we do?
- 8:59Speaker 6: Put one of those badass Leafs on the flag.
- 9:01Speaker 3: That'll do it. Uh-huh. Heck yeah.
- 9:04Speaker 6: Terrible.
- 9:07Speaker 7: South Park blamed Canada?
- 9:09Speaker 3: Blamed Canada.
- 9:10Speaker 4: Yep.
- 9:11Speaker 3: And then followed the only red. Yep.
- 9:17Speaker 4: Anyway.
- 9:18Speaker 8: I didn't even get to ask Alondra and Teise how
- 9:20Speaker 8: they were doing. Because you kind of just took it
- 9:22Speaker 8: over there.
- 9:24Speaker 3: Well, I needed to be honest. Multiple times.
- 9:29Speaker 7: Anyways, Taylor Alondra, how are we doing back there?
- 9:31Speaker 5: One thing about you, you're going to be honest.
- 9:33Speaker 3: I'm going to be honest. Right here.
- 9:34Speaker 5: You're going to ask us first, but then you're going
- 9:36Speaker 5: to be honest.
- 9:37Speaker 3: Hannah? Can I be honest with y'all?
- 9:39Speaker 5: Can I say something? You know, the whole point of
- 9:42Speaker 5: this show is to say something.
- 9:44Speaker 3: It's also fair.
- 9:46Speaker 5: Great. I opened up our text line, and we had
- 9:50Speaker 5: some backtracking on the guy that called y'all boring.
- 9:52Speaker 3: Oh, nice. He was like, say it with your chest out.
- 9:56Speaker 4: I know.
- 9:56Speaker 5: He was like, just talk sports and be more enthusiastic.
- 10:00Speaker 5: I'm 74. My dad, Al Harriman, played in the backfield
- 10:03Speaker 5: with Y.A.
- 10:04Speaker 8: Tittle.
- 10:04Speaker 3: Oh, cool. All right. That's cool. It was just a bunch.
- 10:07Speaker 5: Of, like, no hard feelings.
- 10:09Speaker 3: Oh, buddy.
- 10:10Speaker 5: Keep up the good work.
- 10:12Speaker 8: We are not going to.
- 10:14Speaker 7: The only issue I have with that is the lazy.
- 10:16Speaker 3: Boring, boring. Sure.
- 10:19Speaker 7: A lot of us can, you know, sometimes we don't
- 10:21Speaker 7: have our fastball.
- 10:22Speaker 3: Sometimes dumb. Yeah. A lot of times.
- 10:24Speaker 5: He didn't call you that.
- 10:26Speaker 3: So that's on you. Well, that's just us. I'm giving
- 10:28Speaker 3: him some different, different things he could have said. If
- 10:31Speaker 3: you want to be accurate. If you want to be accurate.
- 10:33Speaker 7: You can call me dumb. I will say this.
- 10:35Speaker 8: You will never catch either one of us or any
- 10:38Speaker 8: of the four of us fake through a segment and
- 10:41Speaker 8: just yell and like have on the paper, yell here.
- 10:45Speaker 8: Like some people do. Not going to happen here. If
- 10:47Speaker 8: we do yell, it means we're pretty passionate about it.
- 10:50Speaker 8: But there's some people that it says basically during this point, yell.
- 10:55Speaker 4: Inflect.
- 10:56Speaker 7: Not going to catch it here. That is not going
- 10:59Speaker 7: to happen.
- 10:59Speaker 3: But we appreciate you listening. We actually do. We very
- 11:02Speaker 3: much appreciate it. And we appreciate you caring enough to
- 11:04Speaker 3: send us a text. That's very much true as well.
- 11:07Speaker 3: We appreciate that.
- 11:08Speaker 7: Shout out to Al.
- 11:09Speaker 3: Shout out. That's pretty sweet. Wait. It said his father played.
- 11:14Speaker 5: His father played in the backfield with Y.A.
- 11:16Speaker 3: Tittle. Oh, that's really cool. Very cool.
- 11:18Speaker 4: Y.A. Tittle.
- 11:19Speaker 5: And we're in the 10th Cotton Bowl.
- 11:20Speaker 3: As tough as a $ 2 steak. Marshall Maverick.
- 11:24Speaker 5: In 1947, better known as the Ice Bowl.
- 11:25Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 11:28Speaker 3: He played against Marshall. We did, too. They were in
- 11:31Speaker 3: our district until they dropped down to four. Probably finished
- 11:34Speaker 3: ahead of you. No, he was a good little quarterback, though.
- 11:37Speaker 3: His last name was Christmas. Christmas? Mm-hmm. His name Lloyd.
- 11:44Speaker 3: I don't remember what his first name was, actually. Which
- 11:46Speaker 3: is strange.
- 11:49Speaker 6: I mean, when your last name is Christmas, that's the
- 11:52Speaker 6: one that's going to stick with you anyways.
- 11:53Speaker 3: It's on the marquee. That's true.
- 11:55Speaker 6: Like, that's not on you. Yeah, we're doing good, though.
- 12:02Speaker 7: Can I be honest with y'all?
- 12:04Speaker 3: Please.
- 12:04Speaker 5: Please be honest.
- 12:05Speaker 3: You can't. We need to get a break. Oh. We do?
- 12:11Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:11Speaker 3: I'm on schedule.
- 12:12Speaker 4: I like this. Boom.
- 12:13Speaker 3: We didn't hear from Taylor yet.
- 12:15Speaker 6: I said we're doing good.
- 12:16Speaker 3: That was it, though. You didn't expand. Well, sometimes you
- 12:18Speaker 3: don't have. Yeah, sometimes it's good.
- 12:21Speaker 5: You guys have something to expand on, Tay-Tay?
- 12:23Speaker 4: Nope.
- 12:23Speaker 5: I didn't have anything to expand on today. That's why
- 12:25Speaker 5: I brought up the text.
- 12:26Speaker 3: Yeah, all she said was good.
- 12:27Speaker 4: We're good.
- 12:28Speaker 3: We're good, man.
- 12:29Speaker 5: I didn't have nothing for you.
- 12:30Speaker 3: It ain't no big deal.
- 12:32Speaker 6: Sleep sacks are still awesome.
- 12:33Speaker 3: There you go.
- 12:33Speaker 6: That's what we got for you.
- 12:35Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 12:36Speaker 7: More OTB, and we'll start to preview LSU and Kentucky.
- 12:40Speaker 3: With probably a PowerPoint.
- 12:41Speaker 7: Slide.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Off the bench.
- 12:45Speaker 3: All right, go to TrashRangers.com.
- 12:47Speaker 7: TrashRangers.com residential commercial trash pickup service. And also they got
- 12:52Speaker 7: the roll-off dumpsters to three different sizes to choose from.
- 12:57Speaker 7: So when you are making your decision, you give them
- 12:59Speaker 7: a call.
- 12:59Speaker 8: Here's what I have going on at my house at
- 13:02Speaker 8: my place of business. And they're going to make sure
- 13:04Speaker 8: that you have the right size roll-off dumpster on your project.
- 13:07Speaker 8: Let's say you undersell it though.
- 13:08Speaker 3: Well, don't panic. They're going to come.
- 13:10Speaker 7: They're going to pick it up. They're going to empty it,
- 13:11Speaker 7: and they're going to put it right back where they
- 13:13Speaker 7: left it. An incredible service, always doing incredible things over
- 13:16Speaker 7: at TrashRangers.com.
- 13:17Speaker 3: That's right, TrashRangers, TrashRangers.com. When it comes to commercial trash removal,
- 13:23Speaker 3: they're the best. When it comes to residential, if you're
- 13:25Speaker 3: in their zone where they offer service, they're the best.
- 13:29Speaker 3: They're also the best for roll-off dumpsters. Three sizes to
- 13:32Speaker 3: choose from, and I can tell you I've gotten roll-off
- 13:34Speaker 3: dumpsters all over the country because I moved a lot.
- 13:38Speaker 3: And it stinks, but they're awesome and roll up dump.
- 13:41Speaker 3: So they have the best service because they got all
- 13:42Speaker 3: the sizes to choose from and they get flat rate pricing.
- 13:44Speaker 3: So there's no like hidden fees, no dumpage fees. They,
- 13:47Speaker 3: what the price they quote you is the price you'll
- 13:49Speaker 3: pay right over there. Trash rangers.com. Have you.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Excuse me, can I please talk to you for a minute?
- 14:15Speaker 6: Uh-huh.
- 14:16Speaker 4: Sure, you know. You look kind of familiar.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Yeah, you do too.
- 14:21Speaker 4: But I just wanted to know, do you know somebody named?
- 14:25Speaker 4: You know his name. Oh yeah, definitely. I know his name.
- 14:29Speaker 1: Welcome back to Off the Bench. Wednesday's show is brought
- 14:32Speaker 1: to you by Poncho.
- 14:32Speaker 3: He's mine.
- 14:56Speaker 7: All right, welcome back in, OTB. Our Wednesday shows brought
- 15:12Speaker 7: to you by our friends over at Poncho.
- 15:13Speaker 3: Shout out to Poncho.
- 15:14Speaker 8: PonchoOutdoors.com slash, backslash, as some would say, off the bench.
- 15:21Speaker 3: That'd be you. Slash. Backslash.
- 15:28Speaker 8: All right, my man has put in the work. The
- 15:31Speaker 8: PowerPoints are made. He is ready to break down LSU
- 15:36Speaker 8: versus Kentucky coming up on Saturday in Lexington at Kroger Field.
- 15:42Speaker 3: It's a very interesting matchup. It's a very fun matchup.
- 15:46Speaker 3: At a place that LSU has not had much recent
- 15:49Speaker 3: success with, let's be honest, the last time we won there,
- 15:53Speaker 3: some would say we stole that one in the Bluegrass Miracle.
- 15:58Speaker 3: This is a great. So I've been watching. So I've
- 16:00Speaker 3: watched really broke down two games there. So I've looked
- 16:03Speaker 3: at Kentucky versus South Carolina, Kentucky versus Texas A & M,
- 16:07Speaker 3: both road games. So both there was probably communication challenges
- 16:11Speaker 3: within their operation on offense, at least. But it's a
- 16:15Speaker 3: it's an interesting little bit of a change of pace
- 16:19Speaker 3: type of team. offensively. There's a lot of, when Kentucky
- 16:24Speaker 3: is on offense, there is a lot of eye candy
- 16:26Speaker 3: that they give you like nauseatingly. Like I'm punching the air,
- 16:29Speaker 3: kind of watching this stuff because there's so many shifts,
- 16:32Speaker 3: so many motions, but there is, there's a lot of
- 16:36Speaker 3: things that they do, Jake, that you, I believe would like, um,
- 16:41Speaker 3: 12 personnel.
- 16:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 16:44Speaker 3: They get into like actual goal line, uh, formations on offense.
- 16:50Speaker 3: So it's, They put a fullback in there. I don't
- 16:52Speaker 3: know if he's actually a fullback or he's just a
- 16:54Speaker 3: tight end disguised as a fullback. I think they call
- 16:57Speaker 3: it 14 personnel, 13. Yeah, they do. They have a
- 16:59Speaker 3: 14 personnel, and that's pretty much their goal line package,
- 17:02Speaker 3: which in these two games they had some success with.
- 17:04Speaker 3: A lot of misdirection, a lot of eye candy that
- 17:06Speaker 3: they give you. Defense is going to have to be
- 17:09Speaker 3: very disciplined in what they do, but it's things that
- 17:11Speaker 3: other offenses are doing. This isn't the first time. LSU
- 17:14Speaker 3: likes to do this on offense, so they've seen it
- 17:16Speaker 3: a lot in practice, different shifts, different motions. A lot
- 17:19Speaker 3: of times, and this was kind of like a complaint
- 17:22Speaker 3: in the past couple years of the offense, a lot
- 17:23Speaker 3: of times it's motioning and movements and shifts that aren't
- 17:27Speaker 3: really accomplishing a lot. Maybe they're accomplishing something to the coaches.
- 17:32Speaker 3: Maybe they think they're going to get something. But a
- 17:34Speaker 3: lot of times it's like shifting and like the defensive,
- 17:37Speaker 3: like the linebacker looks out of the corner like, okay,
- 17:40Speaker 3: he just moved four feet. You know what I mean?
- 17:44Speaker 3: But it's fun to watch. But I like to start
- 17:47Speaker 3: with talking about, LSU and Kentucky by kind of giving
- 17:52Speaker 3: you an overview from like a team standpoint, like Kentucky
- 17:55Speaker 3: has won some games. Kenny Minchie, their quarterback has played
- 18:00Speaker 3: really played pretty, pretty darn well. He's he's a safe player.
- 18:05Speaker 3: He is a safe quarterback. He's not athletically going to
- 18:07Speaker 3: crush you. I think he's got like 25 rush attempts
- 18:11Speaker 3: for like negative one yards. He can do it. There's
- 18:14Speaker 3: plays where he scrambles and can get up field and
- 18:16Speaker 3: can make some plays and But he doesn't want to.
- 18:20Speaker 3: They got some good athletes at running back, two guys
- 18:25Speaker 3: that have done pretty well. They got a couple of
- 18:26Speaker 3: receivers that have made some plays. Two of their top
- 18:29Speaker 3: four guys in receptions and yards are tight ends, so
- 18:33Speaker 3: they love using a tight end. Yeah, and they've got
- 18:37Speaker 3: some good ones. Yeah, they do have some good ones. So,
- 18:42Speaker 3: like I said, two of their top four. And receptions
- 18:44Speaker 3: are tight ends. Who is it? Willie Rodriguez.
- 18:48Speaker 8: Willie was at Media Days, so they thought enough of
- 18:50Speaker 8: him to bring him to SEC Media Days.
- 18:52Speaker 3: Really good player. Cool story. A lot of siblings. Grew
- 18:57Speaker 3: up as a wrestler as well. Wrestler? Wrestler. I'm not
- 19:00Speaker 3: saying wrestler. I don't miss you.
- 19:03Speaker 7: Is he the one?
- 19:05Speaker 5: They were talking on the broadcast. Wait, actually it might
- 19:07Speaker 5: have been NFL.
- 19:07Speaker 3: Never mind.
- 19:08Speaker 5: I don't remember. I've consumed so much stuff this weekend.
- 19:11Speaker 3: Wait a minute.
- 19:12Speaker 5: They're saying that he grew up. uh, wrestling and his
- 19:16Speaker 5: dad made him, uh, Russell high schoolers when he was
- 19:19Speaker 5: like in middle school or something like that. So that's
- 19:21Speaker 5: why he's so tough.
- 19:22Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 19:22Speaker 3: Maybe it's him.
- 19:24Speaker 7: I think that was Sam. Like he, we had him
- 19:28Speaker 7: in the serious XM room.
- 19:29Speaker 8: And I just remember being like, all right, that guy's fault.
- 19:32Speaker 8: I guess fault for everything he's got. Cause he had
- 19:33Speaker 8: like a ton of siblings and they're like, yeah, we
- 19:35Speaker 8: all grew up wrestling. And he's a really good football
- 19:38Speaker 8: player though. That can do a lot of different things.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Um, Yeah, he's good, and they use him. I mean,
- 19:45Speaker 3: they use him quite a bit. So I'm watching them,
- 19:51Speaker 3: and I'm like, all right, Kentucky, this is going to
- 19:53Speaker 3: be a different type of game. They are going to
- 19:57Speaker 3: be really good. They've had a lot of success. I
- 20:00Speaker 3: watch them, and I do see a lot of holes
- 20:03Speaker 3: in their team. I do see a lot of on
- 20:06Speaker 3: their defensive line, not very good. Linebackers can play a
- 20:11Speaker 3: little bit. The linebackers are their best pass rushers. They
- 20:14Speaker 3: don't blitz them a whole lot, but they're the only
- 20:16Speaker 3: ones that can kind of consistently put a little bit
- 20:18Speaker 3: of pressure on the quarterback. Texas A & M, they
- 20:23Speaker 3: were big-dogging these guys in the first half. Both teams,
- 20:27Speaker 3: Texas A & M and South Carolina, blew the game.
- 20:31Speaker 3: They blew the game. Now, Kentucky went out and won it,
- 20:33Speaker 3: took advantage of mistakes, but they just blew the game. Right.
- 20:36Speaker 3: South Carolina, I think, was up 17-0 at the end
- 20:39Speaker 3: of the first quarter. And they just– it blows my
- 20:43Speaker 3: mind how offensive coordinators sometimes just outthink themselves. Both teams
- 20:48Speaker 3: were just running the ball, gashing them, six, seven, eight
- 20:51Speaker 3: yards a run. And then all of a sudden they're like, yeah,
- 20:53Speaker 3: let's let Marcel throw it on first and second down.
- 20:56Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 20:57Speaker 3: And then, of course, he throws a pick or they
- 20:58Speaker 3: throws it in the dirt. They just outthink themselves. Lenore Sellers.
- 21:01Speaker 3: I sent y'all two clips. I was laughing watching their film,
- 21:04Speaker 3: South Carolina's film. Laughing at them. After they're up 17
- 21:09Speaker 3: to nothing. I'm like, what are y'all doing? Y'all should
- 21:11Speaker 3: be fired right now.
- 21:13Speaker 4: Yes.
- 21:14Speaker 3: Anyway, let's compare these teams. Taylor, put all those graphics
- 21:16Speaker 3: for me.
- 21:17Speaker 4: Oh, man.
- 21:18Speaker 6: You gave me two.
- 21:19Speaker 3: I gave you two. It doesn't matter. We're going to
- 21:21Speaker 3: look at them both. These are comparisons. So I talked
- 21:23Speaker 3: about national rankings. Like, this is an overall... big view
- 21:27Speaker 3: of everything. So all these different categories and with comparison
- 21:31Speaker 3: between the two. So right now we're going to look
- 21:33Speaker 3: at LSU's offense versus Kentucky's defense. LSU's offense, ninth in
- 21:39Speaker 3: scoring in the country. Kentucky's defense ranked 101st in the
- 21:43Speaker 3: country with 26.8 points per game allowed. Total offense, LSU
- 21:49Speaker 3: ranked number three in the country. And that's out of
- 21:52Speaker 3: 138 teams. Ranked third. Kentucky's defense ranked 92nd. They allow 376.6
- 22:00Speaker 3: yards per game. Passing offense, 13th for LSU in the country,
- 22:05Speaker 3: 104th for Kentucky. Rushing offense, 15th for LSU, 76 on
- 22:11Speaker 3: rushing defense for Kentucky. On third down, LSU's offense is
- 22:16Speaker 3: 12th in the country at 52% conversion rate. Kentucky's defense
- 22:19Speaker 3: is 122nd. They allow first downs on 46% of third
- 22:24Speaker 3: downs this season. Red zone, LSU, that's kind of where
- 22:28Speaker 3: their weakest part is on converting, 89th in the country.
- 22:32Speaker 3: But Kentucky's defense is 121st defense. Sacks allowed. 52% on
- 22:37Speaker 3: third down is. Yeah, now this is probably the most
- 22:40Speaker 3: even category here. Sacks allowed for LSU, 45th in the country.
- 22:44Speaker 3: Kentucky's defense, 58th. They got 10 sacks. But you compare
- 22:46Speaker 3: that to LSU, I think LSU has 22 sacks on
- 22:49Speaker 3: the season. So they're not getting it.
- 22:50Speaker 7: LSU's second in the country, if I'm not mistaken.
- 22:52Speaker 3: Yeah, and most of their sacks are coming on really
- 22:55Speaker 3: dumb plays by the quarterback. They're not getting much pass rush.
- 23:00Speaker 3: They have to do simulated pressures. They have to do
- 23:03Speaker 3: different things. So, obviously... LSU's offense has been performing at
- 23:09Speaker 3: a high rate, at a high clip. Now, yeah, there's McNeese.
- 23:13Speaker 3: There's some smaller schools. But, like, Kentucky.
- 23:16Speaker 7: Did you just say there's some smaller schools, Clemson?
- 23:19Speaker 3: Well, some smaller schools.
- 23:22Speaker 4: Wow.
- 23:23Speaker 3: All the mighty have fallen. And some poo-poo teams out there.
- 23:26Speaker 3: Let alone Clemson. Yeah.
- 23:28Speaker 6: Yeah, boo.
- 23:29Speaker 3: Yeah, boo. Yeah, boo.
- 23:31Speaker 4: So.
- 23:32Speaker 3: Kentucky, yes, you did a great job. I give you
- 23:34Speaker 3: a ton of credit going into Texas A & M
- 23:37Speaker 3: and bullying them in that second half and winning the game.
- 23:39Speaker 3: I give you a ton of credit for going to
- 23:40Speaker 3: South Carolina and coming back from a 17-0 deficit and
- 23:45Speaker 3: winning in South Carolina, a tough place. But I've got
- 23:47Speaker 3: to be honest with you. Those two teams blew it. Kentucky,
- 23:52Speaker 3: obviously the stats don't lie here. A lot of times
- 23:55Speaker 3: stats can be misleading. But in every team category, Kentucky's
- 24:00Speaker 3: middle of the road or at the back end. In
- 24:03Speaker 3: all of FBS, out of 138 teams, there's a ton
- 24:07Speaker 3: of categories. There are 100 plus. All right, let's switch
- 24:10Speaker 3: it over, Taylor. Let's go to LSU defense versus Kentucky offense.
- 24:16Speaker 3: All right, let's break it down from a total scoring.
- 24:19Speaker 3: Kentucky's offense is 47th in the country, 34.6 points per game.
- 24:23Speaker 3: LSU's defense, 20th in the country, allowing only 15.2 points.
- 24:28Speaker 3: There's some woof stats on there. There's some woof stats
- 24:30Speaker 3: on this Kentucky offense. Total offense, yards per game, Kentucky's
- 24:35Speaker 3: 53rd in the country, 416. LSU's defense, number two in
- 24:40Speaker 3: the country, only allowing 220.6 yards per game. Passing offense
- 24:44Speaker 3: for Kentucky, 73rd. LSU's defense, 18th in the country, only
- 24:49Speaker 3: allowing 162 yards per game. Rushing offense, 42nd. So passing offense, 73rd.
- 24:58Speaker 3: Rushing offense, there's nothing that they're great at. They're good
- 25:02Speaker 3: and decent at everything.
- 25:04Speaker 4: Right.
- 25:05Speaker 3: Or most things, they're not great at anything. Third down.
- 25:10Speaker 3: The money down. How many teams are there in FBS?
- 25:13Speaker 8: 138.
- 25:14Speaker 3: Kentucky's ranked 138 out of 138 on third down conversion
- 25:19Speaker 3: rates on offense. Converting third downs 24.5% of the time. Well,
- 25:23Speaker 3: the good.
- 25:23Speaker 8: Thing for them is LSU hasn't been good stopping third downs, right?
- 25:27Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a silver lining. LSU is ninth in the
- 25:32Speaker 3: country at stopping third downs. They allow a third down
- 25:35Speaker 3: 26% of the time. So that actually would be a
- 25:39Speaker 3: glow-up for Kentucky if they got 26% because they only
- 25:42Speaker 3: convert 24%. That's fair. In the red zone, okay, this
- 25:45Speaker 3: is their best. This is one of their best. I
- 25:46Speaker 3: think they have four statistical categories in, like, all the
- 25:50Speaker 3: 40 that are ranked that are in the top 25,
- 25:53Speaker 3: even though they're ranked, what, 25? Yeah. There are only
- 25:55Speaker 3: four categories that they're in the top 25. This is
- 25:58Speaker 3: one of them. Red zone, 22nd. 76.2% touchdown ratio in
- 26:03Speaker 3: the red zone. LSU's defense ranked 84th in red zone.
- 26:08Speaker 3: So if you had to like circle something for Kentucky
- 26:11Speaker 3: to be like, this is where we can get ours.
- 26:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 26:14Speaker 3: It'd be that red zone. We get in the red area.
- 26:16Speaker 3: Sacks allowed. They're a hundred LSU sacks per game. Second
- 26:24Speaker 3: in the country, 4.4 sacks per game, 22 total. Um, so,
- 26:30Speaker 3: We're going to get to them and get to them often.
- 26:31Speaker 3: I watch them. They have a really good offensive line
- 26:35Speaker 3: for the most part. As a whole offensive line, they
- 26:37Speaker 3: like to maul. They like to run. They like to
- 26:40Speaker 3: go downhill. Now, some of the same flaws that LSU
- 26:43Speaker 3: had in the run game last year are there with Kentucky.
- 26:46Speaker 3: They get too hung up on this RPO system. I know, right?
- 26:50Speaker 3: They get too hung up on the RPO where their
- 26:52Speaker 3: linemen can't use their momentum going forward. But they do
- 26:56Speaker 3: have some maulers. Their left tackle, Lance Hurd, he was
- 26:59Speaker 3: on the preseason Outland Trophy award list.
- 27:03Speaker 8: Can I ask you an honest question?
- 27:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:06Speaker 7: Did you know that Lance Hurd played for LSU two
- 27:08Speaker 7: years ago? No.
- 27:10Speaker 3: I'm going to focus on today. I don't look back.
- 27:13Speaker 3: Focus on today. Fair enough.
- 27:16Speaker 7: No, I ask that because he's a really good player.
- 27:18Speaker 3: He is.
- 27:20Speaker 8: Big-time recruit from North Louisiana, started here. He had two tackles,
- 27:25Speaker 8: two NFL tackles. He didn't see a path to the field.
- 27:27Speaker 8: He goes to Tennessee last year and then Tennessee to Kentucky.
- 27:30Speaker 3: Yep.
- 27:32Speaker 5: Tennessee could really use him.
- 27:34Speaker 3: Colston Price, their center, he's on their Remington Trophy Award.
- 27:37Speaker 3: So they got two really good offensive linemen. They're weak
- 27:40Speaker 3: at the guard situation. So interior defensive lineman for LSU,
- 27:45Speaker 3: playing pretty well right now. I think they could have
- 27:47Speaker 3: a day. They haven't faced anyone like Princewell on the
- 27:51Speaker 3: edge so far this season, I don't think. So, there's
- 27:55Speaker 3: a lot of very advantageous matchups for LSU in this
- 27:58Speaker 3: LSU-Kentucky game. Again, Kentucky, good at a lot of things.
- 28:03Speaker 8: It feels like, we were talking about it last night,
- 28:06Speaker 8: it feels like everything's just kind of balanced. It's good,
- 28:11Speaker 8: it's not over the top, it's not bad, but it's
- 28:14Speaker 8: just kind of somewhere in the middle. Even, we were
- 28:16Speaker 8: talking about their personnel, they're 50-50 basically with 11 and
- 28:18Speaker 8: 12 personnel. Just kind of like everything they do is
- 28:22Speaker 8: just kind of like right there in the middle.
- 28:24Speaker 3: Yeah, there's nothing that they do great. Now, one consistent
- 28:29Speaker 3: thing they had, since you know the graph, we can
- 28:31Speaker 3: pull that up next segment. Kenny Minshew has played, he's
- 28:35Speaker 3: been like the stabilizing force for them. He's not going
- 28:40Speaker 3: to go out there and put the whole team on
- 28:44Speaker 3: his back and go win that thing for you because
- 28:46Speaker 3: of him. They're going to win it because of him,
- 28:48Speaker 3: but because he's, being efficient and taking care of the ball.
- 28:52Speaker 3: He's done a very good job of taking care of
- 28:54Speaker 3: the ball. 11 touchdowns to one interception on the season,
- 28:57Speaker 3: just one interception. And he's the only quarterback with a
- 29:00Speaker 3: pass attempt for Kentucky this year. So it's not like
- 29:02Speaker 3: they've had a bunch of people come in. I mean,
- 29:04Speaker 3: they played South Alabama and they played that one pretty tight.
- 29:06Speaker 3: So they didn't have like mop up duty situations. So
- 29:10Speaker 3: what he's done, he takes care of the football. He
- 29:12Speaker 3: doesn't make any really dumb mistakes. He, Runs out of bounds.
- 29:17Speaker 3: He throws it away. He slides. He does all these things.
- 29:21Speaker 3: He's not going to sit there and run back and
- 29:22Speaker 3: forth and take a 17-yard sack. He tries to stay
- 29:28Speaker 3: ahead of the sticks, tries to keep his team on schedule,
- 29:30Speaker 3: and that's all this offense really is asking of him.
- 29:33Speaker 3: right that's all they're doing they're gonna they're gonna they're
- 29:36Speaker 3: gonna dink and dunk you they're gonna do wide receiver
- 29:38Speaker 3: screens they're gonna get an 11 personnel or 12 personnel
- 29:41Speaker 3: and they're gonna run oh they're gonna do screen they're
- 29:44Speaker 3: gonna run four to five naked bootlegs every single game
- 29:47Speaker 3: with sliders underneath yeah and then they're gonna run run
- 29:50Speaker 3: run and they're gonna try to take a shot down
- 29:52Speaker 3: the field yeah and their protection is probably not gonna hold.
- 29:55Speaker 7: Up former LSU receiver Nick Anderson probably.
- 29:58Speaker 3: Potentially I mean it's only got Nine receptions on the year.
- 30:01Speaker 7: But it feels like when they try to take a shot,
- 30:02Speaker 7: he's the guy.
- 30:04Speaker 3: He's got nine receptions for 120. He's their third leading receiver. Oh, wow.
- 30:11Speaker 3: With 120 yards.
- 30:12Speaker 6: I'm looking at your next graphic. Kenny Darby, their leading receiver.
- 30:15Speaker 6: He was an LSU commit under Brian Kelly. He's from
- 30:17Speaker 6: Bossier City.
- 30:19Speaker 7: Airline, right?
- 30:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:21Speaker 3: Chefs of the Vikings. Airline Vikings. Airline Vikings. There you go.
- 30:28Speaker 3: There's a start to our overview.
- 30:30Speaker 7: We've got much more, though, because we've got slides.
- 30:34Speaker 3: Slides on slides. On slides.
- 30:36Speaker 8: We'll continue breaking down LSU and Kentucky when we come back.
- 30:40Speaker 8: But real quick, before we take the break, I want
- 30:42Speaker 8: to remind you about our friends over at Ktoz.
- 30:44Speaker 7: Ktozblinds.com. Ktozblinds.com is the website. That's Ktoz Interiors and Outdoor Living.

- 31:32Speaker 1: Welcome back to Off the Bench. Wednesday's show is brought
- 31:35Speaker 1: to you by Poncho.
- 31:38Speaker 4: Who is something about? Just something about the way she moves.
- 31:44Speaker 4: I can't figure it out. It's something about her. Who
- 31:49Speaker 4: is something about? Got no woman that want you but
- 31:52Speaker 4: don't need you. I can't figure it out. It's something
- 31:57Speaker 4: about her.
- 32:00Speaker 2: All right welcome back in otb continue to look at
- 32:08Speaker 2: lsu versus kentucky coming up this weekend in lexington.
- 32:12Speaker 7: This kentucky offense is about as balanced as you will
- 32:18Speaker 7: see an offense right and Balance to me, and everybody,
- 32:23Speaker 7: I guess, interprets it a little bit differently.
- 32:25Speaker 8: Balance to me is just like, do you pass when
- 32:27Speaker 8: it makes sense? Do you run when it makes sense?
- 32:29Speaker 8: Do you have a mixture?
- 32:30Speaker 3: Do you keep?
- 32:31Speaker 7: I don't have to have 50-50.
- 32:32Speaker 3: I'm just not. I want to see 50% pass, 50% run.
- 32:33Speaker 3: That's what Kentucky is.
- 32:34Speaker 7: Kentucky, 50.8% of the time, pass.
- 32:35Speaker 3: 49.2% of the time, run.
- 32:36Speaker 7: They are balanced. If that's your idea of being balanced,
- 32:38Speaker 7: it's Kentucky. They do it 50-50, basically right there on
- 32:55Speaker 7: the line.
- 32:57Speaker 3: There it is, right there. What did Mike Leach say?
- 33:02Speaker 7: I didn't know if that was going to be on
- 33:03Speaker 7: the next slide. Oh, yeah, it's right here, baby.
- 33:06Speaker 3: What did Mike Leach say? Balance offense doesn't really necessarily
- 33:10Speaker 3: mean run, pass. It just means you balance it out
- 33:13Speaker 3: between who's touching the ball, whether it's throwing it to
- 33:16Speaker 3: them or running it to them.
- 33:17Speaker 6: Wow.
- 33:19Speaker 3: Kentucky took it very literal. We're going to balance this
- 33:22Speaker 3: baby out big time. Joe's sitting up there. Hey, hey, hey, no, no, no.
- 33:26Speaker 8: Got to call a pass. We got away from 50-50.
- 33:28Speaker 8: I mean, it literally feels like that. It's hard to
- 33:32Speaker 8: find one that's right at 50% for both. Yeah, no,
- 33:36Speaker 8: this is as close as you get to it. And
- 33:39Speaker 8: this is just kind of their offense, an overview of
- 33:43Speaker 8: their offense. And this is the guy right here, Kenny Menchie.
- 33:47Speaker 3: He is the reason why. Your team has won the
- 33:51Speaker 3: games that it has. It's the reason why you are
- 33:54Speaker 3: ranked in the top 25, because there's nothing else that
- 33:56Speaker 3: you like. There's nothing that you do exceptionally well. 97
- 34:00Speaker 3: of 142 completion, 1148 yards, 68.3 completion percentage, which is fantastic. Yeah.
- 34:10Speaker 3: 11 touchdowns to one interception. That ratio is elite. That
- 34:15Speaker 3: ratio is real. Am I saying he's an elite quarterback?
- 34:18Speaker 4: No.
- 34:18Speaker 3: No. The guy just doesn't make mistakes with the ball.
- 34:21Speaker 3: He's accurate. He's calm in the pocket. Pocket. I said
- 34:24Speaker 3: that weird. Pocket. Pocket. Calm in the pocket. Hey, Tommy.
- 34:30Speaker 3: Go catch the socks. He's calm in the pocket, but
- 34:35Speaker 3: he doesn't do, there's nothing, like I said, he's got
- 34:37Speaker 3: negative one yards rushing on the year. He'll make a
- 34:40Speaker 3: play with his feet if he has to, but he
- 34:43Speaker 3: doesn't want to. But he has been kind of, like,
- 34:47Speaker 3: without him, They've lost three games probably. So he is
- 34:53Speaker 3: a stabilizing force. And it's not like Kenny Darby, he's
- 34:57Speaker 3: done well. He's got 25 receptions for 322 yards, three touchdowns.
- 35:02Speaker 3: Their second leading receiver, Willie Rodriguez, really good tight end,
- 35:06Speaker 3: number 81, 22 receptions, 194 yards, one touchdown. Nick Anderson,
- 35:10Speaker 3: their third leading receiver, he is number four, nine receptions.
- 35:14Speaker 3: So the third leading receiver. Receiver has nine receptions, 122 yards,
- 35:19Speaker 3: one touchdown. Henry Boyer, the other tight end, number 87,
- 35:23Speaker 3: eight receptions, three touchdowns on the year.
- 35:28Speaker 8: Just to throw that into a little bit of a comparison,
- 35:32Speaker 8: LSU's leading receivers, 23, 15, 14, 19 catches. So you
- 35:39Speaker 8: don't have kind of the same volume. Now, obviously, the
- 35:45Speaker 8: passing attacks are different. but LSU disperses the football to
- 35:50Speaker 8: way more. Like even like Dylan Jones has 11 catches, Matt.
- 35:54Speaker 8: So like he would be third on this team and he's,
- 35:59Speaker 8: let's see, he's like what?
- 36:00Speaker 3: Six on LSU's team.
- 36:02Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 36:02Speaker 3: And that's, and that's what's really interesting. What you're going
- 36:04Speaker 3: to see is a, an offense that you're not going
- 36:07Speaker 3: to see a whole heck of a lot in college
- 36:09Speaker 3: football these days. Um, Look at these personnel, key personnel.
- 36:13Speaker 3: So if everybody remembers, 11 personnel is what? Alondra. Alondra.
- 36:18Speaker 3: 11 personnel.
- 36:19Speaker 5: One running back and one tight end.
- 36:20Speaker 4: Awesome.
- 36:21Speaker 3: How many receivers?
- 36:22Speaker 4: Three.
- 36:22Speaker 3: Perfect. What's 12 personnel?
- 36:24Speaker 5: One running back, two tight ends, two receivers.
- 36:27Speaker 3: Bingo. Those two personnel's groupings you're going to see. Jake,
- 36:34Speaker 3: what is LSU runs 11 personnel? What percentage of the time?
- 36:39Speaker 8: I believe it is 84% of the time.
- 36:43Speaker 3: 84% of the time LSU is in one running back,
- 36:45Speaker 3: one tight end, three wide receivers. Kentucky is in 11 personnel,
- 36:49Speaker 3: 48% of the time. What's beautiful about it is they're
- 36:52Speaker 3: in 12 personnel. 12 personnel is a great personnel. I
- 36:55Speaker 3: prefer 21, but yeah, it's not that. Sure, you get it.
- 36:58Speaker 3: 12 personnel with two tight ends, 132 plays. That's 40.9.
- 37:01Speaker 3: So almost 41% of the time they're going to have
- 37:03Speaker 3: at least two tight ends out on the field. What's
- 37:09Speaker 3: even more beautiful, my God, is that every now and
- 37:13Speaker 3: then with Kentucky, their quarterback touches the center's butt.
- 37:18Speaker 5: Get out my butt.
- 37:19Speaker 3: Get out my butt. They go under center, which is
- 37:22Speaker 3: a beautiful thing. Please, for the love of God, high schools, colleges,
- 37:28Speaker 3: go under center. Please. Asking for a friend. Not every time.
- 37:34Speaker 3: Just a little bit. They run 13 personnel, which is
- 37:37Speaker 3: three tight ends. 5.3% of the time, 14 personnel, 3.4%
- 37:42Speaker 3: of the time. Now, those are their short yardage, their
- 37:44Speaker 3: goal line. They use a tight end, kind of like
- 37:46Speaker 3: a fullback. They'll put heavy formation in there. They'll put
- 37:50Speaker 3: an extra offensive tackle, go heavy to the left. They'll
- 37:53Speaker 3: put two tackles to the left side. They do some
- 37:56Speaker 3: old school things in new school ways. They'll shift to it.
- 37:59Speaker 3: They'll motion to it.
- 38:00Speaker 7: What did we call when we brought in an extra
- 38:04Speaker 7: offensive lineman?
- 38:05Speaker 3: Jumbo, right? We had two.
- 38:07Speaker 7: We had Jumbo, and then we had Elephant.
- 38:09Speaker 3: Elephant. Elephant was the quarterback sneak with Herman in the back.
- 38:13Speaker 8: Herman would come in, but another lineman would come in,
- 38:16Speaker 8: and Herman would get him.
- 38:17Speaker 3: And it was this.
- 38:20Speaker 5: I like that.
- 38:21Speaker 6: I don't remember y'all running that.
- 38:23Speaker 3: Yeah, it was kind of dumb.
- 38:24Speaker 5: So the 14 is usually on the goal line?
- 38:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 38:27Speaker 5: Because when you sent that last night, I was like, 14?
- 38:30Speaker 7: Yeah, it's like their goal line package.
- 38:32Speaker 3: Yeah, so they'll have like a, They'll have a tight
- 38:35Speaker 3: end to the right. They'll have a tight end to
- 38:37Speaker 3: the left and an offset tight end. Then they'll have
- 38:39Speaker 3: a tight end as a fullback. So it's like an
- 38:41Speaker 3: old school goal line package.
- 38:43Speaker 5: I'm into that.
- 38:43Speaker 3: Yeah, it's good. And so rushing, they got two. So, Taylor,
- 38:49Speaker 3: is there any injuries from the running back standpoint? Yes.
- 38:52Speaker 6: Well, yeah, but C.J.
- 38:53Speaker 3: Baxter. Okay. C.J. Baxter, both these guys can run the
- 38:57Speaker 3: ball pretty well. Patterson's been banged up. So both these
- 39:00Speaker 3: guys have pretty darn good vision. C.J. Baxter, number one
- 39:04Speaker 3: jersey number. He has 68 carries, 361, six touchdowns on
- 39:08Speaker 3: the year. A lot of that coming on the goal
- 39:10Speaker 3: line as well. Jason Patterson, number 26. I guess he's
- 39:13Speaker 3: banged up. 45 carries, 355, three touchdowns. Again, they want
- 39:18Speaker 3: to play big boy ball if it's third and one.
- 39:21Speaker 3: If you get inside the three-yard line, they want to
- 39:24Speaker 3: play big boy ball. So LSU defensive line, LSU linebackers.
- 39:29Speaker 3: got to, he, better listen to that heavy metal. You better,
- 39:32Speaker 3: you know, do something, bang your head against each other.
- 39:35Speaker 3: Like on the sideline, you got to get your mind,
- 39:36Speaker 3: get the smelling salts out this week. Yeah. Defensive line.
- 39:40Speaker 3: But again, they got to get some good players, offensive,
- 39:43Speaker 3: offensive line. They got some good tight ends, but they
- 39:46Speaker 3: are 100% beatable. They got stuff plenty. on those short
- 39:50Speaker 3: yards and goal line situations. Now, there were some terrible clips.
- 39:53Speaker 3: South Carolina, I don't know. I don't even know what
- 39:55Speaker 3: to say about them at some points. But, like, this
- 39:59Speaker 3: is a good offense. This is not even close to
- 40:02Speaker 3: a great offense. This is a good, manageable offense. A
- 40:05Speaker 3: lot of eye candy. They try to out-coach themselves a
- 40:08Speaker 3: lot with all these shifts and motions. Just stay disciplined.
- 40:11Speaker 3: Just read your keys. Stay disciplined with your eyes and
- 40:16Speaker 3: just play football. Like, they're going to try to fool
- 40:18Speaker 3: you pre-step. Just read and react.
- 40:20Speaker 8: Jason Patterson left the South Carolina game with a quad
- 40:23Speaker 8: injury after rushing for 29 yards on five carries. So
- 40:27Speaker 8: we'll see there. They're banged up at linebacker as well.
- 40:30Speaker 8: Multiple guys on the injury report. So another kind of
- 40:33Speaker 8: position to pay attention to for Kentucky when it comes
- 40:36Speaker 8: to injuries. Because even their backup, Antoine Smith, I believe,
- 40:41Speaker 8: left the game against South Carolina with an injury.
- 40:43Speaker 3: So he was already replacing somebody.
- 40:45Speaker 8: So running back Jason Patterson, linebacker Antoine Smith, and defensive
- 40:48Speaker 8: back jayden smith all left the game with injuries so
- 40:52Speaker 8: we'll get an update on those guys as we get
- 40:54Speaker 8: farther down the road this week all right we'll step
- 40:57Speaker 8: away more otb when we come back here live from
- 41:00Speaker 8: the raising cane studio off the bench i go central plumbing.org

- 42:23Speaker 3: All right, welcome back in OTV.
- 42:26Speaker 1: Here live from the Raising Cane Studio.
- 42:30Speaker 4: Wednesday shows brought to you.
- 42:33Speaker 3: By our friends over.
- 42:36Speaker 4: At Poncho Outdoors.
- 42:49Speaker 8: Matt, what do you think Kentucky's formula is going to
- 42:52Speaker 8: be for them.
- 42:54Speaker 3: To be successful? What their formula is.
- 42:57Speaker 8: What do you think they think that they have to
- 42:59Speaker 8: get done? I would assume that it would be to
- 43:02Speaker 8: shorten the game.
- 43:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 43:04Speaker 8: Finish the drives because that's what they're good at, where
- 43:07Speaker 8: they've had success, and try whatever they can for LSU
- 43:13Speaker 8: not to turn it into a track meet. Because that's
- 43:16Speaker 8: not who they are.
- 43:17Speaker 3: Yeah. They don't want to play a track meet. Like, defensively,
- 43:20Speaker 3: they don't blitz a lot. They blitz every now and then,
- 43:22Speaker 3: and usually it's a simulated pressure. They bring the Sam
- 43:26Speaker 3: or the nickel off the edge, and they drop the
- 43:27Speaker 3: backside defensive end. They've done that. The two games I watched,
- 43:30Speaker 3: they did it probably six, seven times during that game.
- 43:33Speaker 3: Their changeup is bringing one linebacker up the A gap. Like,
- 43:37Speaker 3: they're not that, and they play, they're pretty balanced between
- 43:40Speaker 3: cover one, cover two, cover three, cover four. On offense,
- 43:44Speaker 3: I know what their formula is.
- 43:46Speaker 7: Simulated pressure on 43.3% of the snaps.
- 43:50Speaker 3: Yeah, they're not bringing just a whole lot of– I
- 43:52Speaker 3: didn't see any cover zero.
- 43:53Speaker 8: Only brought six guys 6% of the time. They haven't
- 43:56Speaker 8: brought seven guys, to your point, about zero.
- 43:59Speaker 3: Yeah, so just– and offense, I know what their game
- 44:02Speaker 3: plan is. It's the same as it is every week.
- 44:05Speaker 3: Try to create advantageous looks because of all of our
- 44:08Speaker 3: shifts and motions, even if it's a dumb amount of them.
- 44:10Speaker 3: That's not going to work. Try to do little shifts,
- 44:13Speaker 3: motions here or there. Misdirection. Everybody go left. We got
- 44:18Speaker 3: one guy squirting out to the right.
- 44:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 44:21Speaker 3: And we're going to bootleg out. So they're going to misdirect.
- 44:23Speaker 3: They are going to set you up and try to
- 44:26Speaker 3: hit you deep. Set up, set up, set up, set up,
- 44:28Speaker 3: set up, misdirection. And then they're going to try to
- 44:29Speaker 3: hit you deep. They're going to try to give you
- 44:31Speaker 3: a lot of eye candy to get you confused and
- 44:33Speaker 3: create a one-on-one situation or create a bust situation. And
- 44:36Speaker 3: then they're going to misdirect. They're not good enough to
- 44:38Speaker 3: just beat you one-on-one.
- 44:41Speaker 8: All right, we certainly will continue breaking down Kentucky, what
- 44:44Speaker 8: that looks like, what that matchup's going to be. We're
- 44:47Speaker 8: going to have our Kentucky film session a little bit
- 44:50Speaker 8: later on today as well.
- 44:52Speaker 3: We're going to give you that info. Dr.
- 44:54Speaker 7: Stephen Etheridge, though, when we come back.
