Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to the biggest show on earth.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Our biggest show.
- 0:04Speaker 3: The biggest.
- 0:05Speaker 4: Biggest.
- 0:05Speaker 2: This is big.
- 0:06Speaker 5: The Hodaki Big Show.
- 0:07Speaker 6: With Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keezy.
- 0:11Speaker 3: Oh, g'day, you massive backbones. I've got to work on
- 0:14Speaker 3: that intro. It's the Hodaki Big Show with Pugs and Mogi. And,
- 0:19Speaker 3: of course, it's brought to you by our good mates
- 0:21Speaker 3: at Reburger. Craveworthy street food freshly made at Reburger.
- 0:31Speaker 2: And Mogi.
- 0:33Speaker 3: How you going, man?
- 0:35Speaker 2: How you feeling about things so far, man?
- 0:37Speaker 3: Oh, out of five, I'd give it a three.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Jeez, that's generous. For me, personally, yeah. You're a generous scorer.
- 0:45Speaker 4: Thanks, man.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Many, many boozies. Great to be here, Pugs. Of course,
- 0:48Speaker 2: our old mates Woody J and Keezy have gone away
- 0:51Speaker 2: for a couple of weeks. I don't know if they're
- 0:52Speaker 2: coming back. No. So we've got two weeks here, man,
- 0:56Speaker 2: to put this all together in a way that's going
- 0:58Speaker 2: to make the brass not want to fire us.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that's really important. The bar's really low
- 1:03Speaker 3: because the last time we did this, it was Woke
- 1:04Speaker 3: Boy and The Truth, and it was on the last.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Day of last year.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Is that right? When we were both in the departure lounge.
- 1:10Speaker 3: That is the only time we've done this, just you
- 1:12Speaker 3: and me.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Is that right?
- 1:13Speaker 3: That's right.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Jeez, we had a name for it and everything. Woke Boy,
- 1:16Speaker 2: that's you.
- 1:17Speaker 4: Really?
- 1:17Speaker 2: What?
- 1:18Speaker 3: Me?
- 1:18Speaker 2: And I'm the truth, so that's horrendous, isn't it? That's
- 1:21Speaker 2: a shocking name.
- 1:22Speaker 3: We are going to workshop that name, I think, a
- 1:24Speaker 3: little bit. So if you have any suggestions, just roll
- 1:26Speaker 3: them in whenever you like. 3483 is the text number.
- 1:29Speaker 3: $ 50 re-big vouchers to give away. We've got Dillian Studio
- 1:32Speaker 3: B to look after that. Good weekend?
- 1:34Speaker 2: Hell of a weekend, man. It was good. We'll get
- 1:36Speaker 2: into it a little bit, but my missus and my
- 1:39Speaker 2: kid have left me again. Seems to happen same time
- 1:42Speaker 2: every year.
- 1:42Speaker 6: It does.
- 1:43Speaker 2: But we'll get into that later. And, yeah, but bloody good.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Tidy in the house, all sorts of different things. The
- 1:49Speaker 2: rugby league last night. You know, solo drinking. Oh, cool.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Packet of darts. You know, just a blissful, blissful experience.
- 1:59Speaker 2: We'll get into your weekend. Maybe tomorrow. Oh, okay. We'll
- 2:03Speaker 2: save it for tomorrow. Not even after six today?
- 2:04Speaker 6: No, no.
- 2:05Speaker 3: Sweet. Should we find out what's coming up?
- 2:06Speaker 2: I reckon.
- 2:10Speaker 3: What's happening on The Big Show with Old Mogi?
- 2:14Speaker 2: I think in a big, certainly a big show first,
- 2:17Speaker 2: we've got the fellas from Blindspot coming in for a
- 2:19Speaker 2: yarn after five o'clock, Sheldon and Damien, a couple of legends,
- 2:23Speaker 2: one of my favourite New Zealand bands, one of the
- 2:26Speaker 2: great New Zealand bands. I absolutely love them, so I'm
- 2:29Speaker 2: stoked to be able to have them to chat to.
- 2:31Speaker 3: We are going to play their brand new tune, which
- 2:32Speaker 3: you can't even find on streaming. So hang around for
- 2:35Speaker 3: that after five.
- 2:37Speaker 2: And we'll be talking to Charlie Gubb. The NRL grand
- 2:39Speaker 2: final last night with the Roosters taking it out by
- 2:42Speaker 2: one point over the Newcastle Knights. We'll find out what
- 2:44Speaker 2: Gubb thinks about the whole thing. And coming up next,
- 2:47Speaker 2: we're going to discuss our show. What is this show
- 2:49Speaker 2: going to look like over the next couple of weeks?
- 2:52Speaker 2: What are we going to call it? What's the content
- 2:53Speaker 2: going to be? How badly are we going to just
- 2:56Speaker 2: dial this bastard in?
- 2:59Speaker 3: And, of course, gig a little. Your chance to win
- 3:01Speaker 3: $ 250 cash to go to a gig of your choice
- 3:03Speaker 3: thanks to our mates at Super Liquor. It's going to
- 3:05Speaker 3: happen pretty soon, I think, so hang around for it.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Here's Pearl Jam.
- 3:09Speaker 5: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Linkin Park on the Hauraki Big Show with Pugs and Mogi.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Keezy and Horty J on Holiday. And it is the
- 3:20Speaker 3: Pugs and Mogi show, and we're sort of trying to
- 3:22Speaker 3: figure out what the hell are we going to do
- 3:24Speaker 3: for two weeks.
- 3:24Speaker 6: Aren't we?
- 3:25Speaker 2: Yeah, man. Look, it's sort of a behind-the-scenes thing, and
- 3:27Speaker 2: people won't know this, but there's a whole lot of
- 3:30Speaker 2: stresses around delivering a drive show, you know, five days
- 3:34Speaker 2: a week. What's the hook? What is it? What are
- 3:37Speaker 2: we talking about here? And so sort of with when
- 3:39Speaker 2: Keezy and Jase are here, they've got their own sort
- 3:43Speaker 2: of little, you know, Jase has always got an issue.
- 3:45Speaker 2: He's walking around the city. Someone calls him an idiot. Right?
- 3:50Speaker 2: There's three days' worth of content. Yeah. You know, Keezy
- 3:54Speaker 2: is trying to sell his house. He's stressed out. He
- 3:57Speaker 2: doesn't know how to deal with it. Four days' worth
- 3:59Speaker 2: of content.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Yeah, that sort of stuff. So, you know, Pugs, you're
- 4:03Speaker 2: normally sitting out in Studio B. We don't even know
- 4:06Speaker 2: each other, really. Nah. So now we're trying to do
- 4:09Speaker 2: a radio show together. And the thing that's the cornerstone
- 4:12Speaker 2: of any, you know, sort of half-assed two-week radio show
- 4:15Speaker 2: is you've got to have a– Is you've got to
- 4:18Speaker 2: have a shitbox name.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:20Speaker 2: So we've gone out to the audience here on, what's
- 4:23Speaker 2: the text number here?
- 4:24Speaker 3: It's 3483.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Still? We need to change that.
- 4:27Speaker 3: You reckon we've got to freshen it up?
- 4:28Speaker 2: This is the time. Now's the time to do it. 3483,
- 4:31Speaker 2: if you've got any ideas for the name that Pugs
- 4:33Speaker 2: and I could be running for our radio show, and
- 4:35Speaker 2: we've had a few through already.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Yes, and every one of these goes in the drawer
- 4:39Speaker 3: for a $ 50 Reburger voucher. We have control of the
- 4:42Speaker 3: vouchers here. So obviously our name last year when we
- 4:45Speaker 3: did one show together on the last day of the
- 4:47Speaker 3: year was Woke Boy and the Truth.
- 4:48Speaker 6: Yes.
- 4:49Speaker 3: And just for clarification, I was Woke Boy.
- 4:51Speaker 2: You're Woke Boy, yeah, because you don't like sort of
- 4:53Speaker 2: any kind of sexism or racism or anything like that.
- 4:56Speaker 2: God forbid. Which makes you woke, okay?
- 5:01Speaker 3: And somebody's kind of done a spin-off of that, and
- 5:04Speaker 3: it's a mix of my name when it was Jason I,
- 5:06Speaker 3: and it's Sperm Boy in the truth, because when it
- 5:08Speaker 3: was Jason me, it was Sperm Boy and the Jizz.
- 5:11Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, that was one of the great names. I
- 5:13Speaker 2: gave you that name, Sperm Boy and the Jizz. No,
- 5:15Speaker 2: the audience definitely took it. Oh, yeah, the audience said that.
- 5:17Speaker 2: The audience definitely took it.
- 5:19Speaker 3: Another one here, The Wellington Wounders. That's nice. It's back
- 5:21Speaker 3: to our roots there, you know what I mean? The
- 5:24Speaker 3: Big Mug Show. No, you're not liking that one?
- 5:28Speaker 2: No, that makes more sense to me.
- 5:29Speaker 3: Tofu Boy on a Rogue Stallion.
- 5:32Speaker 2: It's something.
- 5:33Speaker 3: It's got a Western feel to it.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Puggy Jizz is good.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Puggy Jizz?
- 5:37Speaker 2: That's just you, I think, so it'd have to be
- 5:39Speaker 2: the same for me. Old Mogi and his Stinkhole Teeter.
- 5:42Speaker 3: But they've said Tilda.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Yeah, Tilda.
- 5:44Speaker 3: Stinkhole Tilda, that was my nickname in high school.
- 5:47Speaker 2: I'm not sure we've nailed it. I'm not sure we've
- 5:50Speaker 2: knocked it out of the park just yet, but we're
- 5:51Speaker 2: just getting people interested, Pugs. That's the trick. Get them
- 5:54Speaker 2: hooked in with some of this gold and people will
- 5:56Speaker 2: start firing them through. Now, keep in mind, you can
- 5:59Speaker 2: get yourself a $ 50 Reburger voucher if you get it
- 6:02Speaker 2: read out, if you get your suggestion read out. And
- 6:05Speaker 2: we'll be turning these into... Well, that means every single
- 6:08Speaker 2: one of those. That's me. You're in the draw. That's right. Sorry.
- 6:11Speaker 2: You're in the draw. And also the best ones here, Pugsone,
- 6:15Speaker 2: you're going to be going into the lab and making
- 6:16Speaker 2: a few up as stings.
- 6:18Speaker 3: I think so. I think we'll narrow down some finalists
- 6:21Speaker 3: by the end of the week. We'll probably do a
- 6:23Speaker 3: binding referendum via big poll. And that'll officially be the
- 6:27Speaker 3: name for the final week of whatever the show ends
- 6:30Speaker 3: up being.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Brilliant.
- 6:30Speaker 3: So keep them coming on 3483 and you'll help fill
- 6:34Speaker 3: our content for the next two weeks. You like the killers, man?
- 6:39Speaker 2: Who doesn't, man?
- 6:40Speaker 6: Yeah!
- 6:43Speaker 5: The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 6:47Speaker 5: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki. gig a little
- 6:53Speaker 5: on Radio Hauraki. Let's see who wants to hear the
- 6:56Speaker 5: roar of the encore. Cheers to Super Liquor.
- 6:59Speaker 3: That's right, $ 250 to put towards a gig, festy concert
- 7:03Speaker 3: of your choice. All you have to do is listen
- 7:05Speaker 3: out for that cuter call and when you hear it,
- 7:07Speaker 3: give us a buzz on 0800 Hauraki, that roar.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Of the Encore.
- 7:11Speaker 3: And the cash could be all yours. $ 10, 000 to give
- 7:13Speaker 3: away across the whole month. You got any gigs coming up, Mogus?
- 7:18Speaker 1: I have.
- 7:19Speaker 2: I haven't booked them yet, but I've got... Actually, that
- 7:21Speaker 2: reminds me. That reminds me. If anybody's got tickets to
- 7:24Speaker 2: either the Perfect Circle or Queens of the Stone Age, GA,
- 7:28Speaker 2: I want to be on the floor. You love it.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Hit me up on Instagram and I'll give you away
- 7:34Speaker 2: a Backbone t-shirt.
- 7:36Speaker 1: What?
- 7:36Speaker 2: No. And a Reburger voucher. What? And we'll see what
- 7:40Speaker 2: else we've got in the prize cupboard. And some money,
- 7:42Speaker 2: of course, as well. But I've left it too late.
- 7:44Speaker 2: I hate sitting in the crowd for these sorts of things, man.
- 7:46Speaker 2: I want to be on the floor, you know?
- 7:48Speaker 3: I 100% agree with you. You want to be in
- 7:50Speaker 3: amongst the filth. Should we go to the phone lines? G'day,
- 7:53Speaker 3: is that Lav? Hey! What's up, Lav?
- 7:54Speaker 1: Hey!
- 8:01Speaker 2: What do you reckon, Lav?
- 8:03Speaker 6: Oh, well, I guess I'm going to a gig, aren't I?
- 8:05Speaker 2: No, I want to get ahead of myself. I might
- 8:06Speaker 2: not like you, and then we'll just hang up on you.
- 8:09Speaker 2: What do you do for a crust? What do I
- 8:11Speaker 2: do for.
- 8:11Speaker 3: I'm just a little admin girl, you know?
- 8:15Speaker 1: Don't worry about me.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Oh, you're a backbone, man. There's nothing wrong with being
- 8:19Speaker 2: an admin girl. It's good stuff. And if you went
- 8:21Speaker 2: to a gig, who do you generally go with? Have
- 8:23Speaker 2: you got a partner? Have you got a mate?
- 8:25Speaker 1: Yeah, got to take your bestie bestie.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Yeah, good on you. And who do you want to
- 8:29Speaker 2: go and see?
- 8:30Speaker 7: Oh, Foo Fighters would go pretty hard.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Who was that in the background?
- 8:34Speaker 1: He said Hilary Duff.
- 8:36Speaker 3: Hilary Duff. Now that's a gig I can get around, actually.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Hilary Duff.
- 8:40Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Maybe I'll have to take her to that. Yeah, go on. Well,
- 8:43Speaker 2: great news. You've just got yourself a million dollars.
- 8:46Speaker 3: No, you've got yourself $ 250. Thanks, mate. It's a super liquor,
- 8:52Speaker 3: so you can get yourself those tickets, mate. Well done, Lav.
- 8:54Speaker 3: You hold the line there. I'll put you on hold.
- 8:57Speaker 3: and we'll send you over to Dilly in Studio B,
- 8:59Speaker 3: and he'll hand you that $ 250 personally.
- 9:01Speaker 6: All right?
- 9:02Speaker 1: Beauty.
- 9:02Speaker 3: Good on you, mate.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Good on you.
- 9:04Speaker 3: That's all thanks to our mates at Super Liquor. Cheers
- 9:06Speaker 3: to gigs. Cheers to Super Liquor.
- 9:09Speaker 2: What gigs have you got coming up?
- 9:11Speaker 3: That's a great question.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Lily Allen. Oh, yeah. Huge fan of Lily Allen.
- 9:14Speaker 4: Bullshit.
- 9:14Speaker 2: You're trying to sell those tickets.
- 9:15Speaker 3: No, hear me out.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I saw them on your story. Are you going
- 9:19Speaker 2: to hear me out? No, I'm going to talk over you.
- 9:22Speaker 3: I bought the tickets.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Yeah. How much is she ripping you? who that who
- 9:27Speaker 2: Lilliana how much were the.
- 9:28Speaker 3: Tickets to that oh it was like 350 for two
- 9:31Speaker 3: or something like that that's alright that's pretty good and
- 9:33Speaker 3: she's you know she's a legend so I bought them
- 9:36Speaker 3: for my partner's birthday oh that's right and then she
- 9:39Speaker 3: got herself some tickets yeah so it was a bit
- 9:41Speaker 3: of a stitch up but so it was great I
- 9:42Speaker 3: offered them to all my mates they all said no
- 9:44Speaker 3: she posted them on her Instagram story they went and
- 9:46Speaker 3: like Two minutes.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Yeah, the audience. That makes sense. Yeah, yeah. So a
- 9:49Speaker 2: bit of Lillie Allen, when's that?
- 9:51Speaker 3: Maybe next week. Oh, in the coming weeks. I know
- 9:54Speaker 3: it's this month, but I'm really, really excited.
- 9:56Speaker 2: It should be fun. There's so many gigs coming up.
- 9:59Speaker 2: and I've just sort of, I was like, I'm in
- 10:01Speaker 2: a don't spend sort of a phase, but then I
- 10:03Speaker 2: was like, what am I talking about? What I say
- 10:05Speaker 2: to everybody else is you've got to go to every
- 10:08Speaker 2: single gig that you can possibly go to.
- 10:09Speaker 3: Yeah, and if you're anything like me, you don't ever
- 10:11Speaker 3: have a don't spend phase.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Well, yeah, yeah. We need to talk about that.
- 10:19Speaker 5: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 10:24Speaker 3: You can never have too much bush. That's everything's in
- 10:26Speaker 3: on Radio Hauraki with Mogi and Pugs. And I heard
- 10:30Speaker 3: it was a big game yesterday, Mogi.
- 10:32Speaker 2: She was a hell of a game. The NRL Grand
- 10:35Speaker 2: Final was played between the Sydney City Roosters and the
- 10:38Speaker 2: Newcastle Knights. Everybody's favourite second team now, it turns out,
- 10:41Speaker 2: is the Newcastle Knights. Everyone was dreaming that they would
- 10:44Speaker 2: be able to take it out, but went down ultimately
- 10:46Speaker 2: 19 points to 18 points. Hopefully they'll go better next
- 10:51Speaker 2: year to talk us through it, to dissect it, the
- 10:53Speaker 2: man himself, Charlie Gubb. What did you make of that one, brother?
- 10:57Speaker 2: I'm assuming you watched it, of course.
- 10:59Speaker 4: No, I watched it. I watched it. No horse in
- 11:02Speaker 4: the race, so it was good just to watch footy
- 11:04Speaker 4: for what it was. And before I start, I will say, Pugs,
- 11:07Speaker 4: it's good to have you in the driver's seat, brother.
- 11:09Speaker 4: I feel good to have that power under the foot. Thanks.
- 11:13Speaker 3: Thanks so much, Charlie. Yeah, it's really good they let
- 11:16Speaker 3: me out of the cupboard there.
- 11:18Speaker 4: No, way back to footy, brother.
- 11:20Speaker 8: Oh, sweet.
- 11:22Speaker 4: Watching it, I felt like Roosters could have won.
- 11:25Speaker 2: By any amount they wanted.
- 11:27Speaker 4: They just fully dominated through the middle. You know, Knights
- 11:31Speaker 4: tried real hard, a real battling effort, but their forwards,
- 11:35Speaker 4: you know, they were making 20 metres a set, 25
- 11:38Speaker 4: metres a set, kicking it back. Nwhahu White, Lindsay Collins,
- 11:41Speaker 4: Siwa Wong, Fokiri, they were just getting straight back down there,
- 11:45Speaker 4: hammering the line. Spencer Lenu yes Spencer Lenu like it
- 11:51Speaker 4: was just it was brutal through the middle and I.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Don't yeah I don't know what was up.
- 11:56Speaker 4: With the Roosters attack they just you know they kept
- 11:58Speaker 4: going right and then turning Crichton back under it was
- 12:00Speaker 4: almost like they were just playing it safe working it
- 12:03Speaker 4: to the middle to then kick to Maju's wing yeah
- 12:06Speaker 4: which which you know Marky Mark I won't pronounce his
- 12:10Speaker 4: last name but he was he was insane like a
- 12:14Speaker 4: real aerial winger and a great effort from him so
- 12:17Speaker 4: I don't know, it was a good game, but at
- 12:18Speaker 4: the same time, the more I think about it, I'm
- 12:21Speaker 4: a bit bitter that, like, you know, the Roosters, people
- 12:24Speaker 4: always talk about no salary cap, but it's too obvious.
- 12:27Speaker 4: They're cheating the salary cap. Every single one of their
- 12:31Speaker 4: players is a rep player.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Mate, they've got 12 New South Wales State of Origin
- 12:36Speaker 2: players in their team. That is absolutely ridiculous. You cannot tell.
- 12:41Speaker 2: I was literally thinking about this this morning. And I'm
- 12:44Speaker 2: not a particularly huge hater of them, but there's no
- 12:47Speaker 2: way you can keep that side on the field and
- 12:49Speaker 2: be under the salary cap. It's just ridiculous.
- 12:52Speaker 4: No, you know what?
- 12:54Speaker 2: We're on radio.
- 12:55Speaker 4: It is big facts that they do a lot of
- 12:59Speaker 4: stuff under the table.
- 13:00Speaker 1: It's well known and it's big money.
- 13:03Speaker 4: And I'm hearing that they're getting Herbie Farmworth potentially next year. So,
- 13:08Speaker 4: you know, it's just crazy.
- 13:11Speaker 2: It's pretty ridiculous. But, yeah, back to the game, man.
- 13:13Speaker 1: It was.
- 13:14Speaker 2: I don't think I've ever seen a forward pack dominate
- 13:17Speaker 2: another side in the way that they did. I mean,
- 13:20Speaker 2: at halftime, the Roosters were averaging 10 more metres per set,
- 13:25Speaker 2: and I think they must have got worse in the
- 13:26Speaker 2: second half. Newcastle ended up with 600 fewer running metres
- 13:30Speaker 2: than the Roosters. They only had 16% of territory.
- 13:35Speaker 4: That's right, and you know they talked about 10 metres
- 13:38Speaker 4: less per set. Half the Roosters sets were on the Knights' line,
- 13:42Speaker 4: so if Roosters were actually working out of their own half,
- 13:45Speaker 4: it would have been 40 metres extra a set, but
- 13:48Speaker 4: I think they were just undergunned. Saifidi was out, Trey
- 13:53Speaker 4: Mooney was out, and then Phoenix Crossland was out. I
- 13:57Speaker 4: don't know, they did so well to absorb that pressure, although... Yeah,
- 14:01Speaker 4: they did look dangerous when they were down the rooster's end,
- 14:04Speaker 4: the two times that they were down there.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Yeah. It seemed like they had to throw it around
- 14:09Speaker 2: a little bit more because going out the gaps wasn't working.
- 14:11Speaker 2: But then when you looked at the rooster's attack, all
- 14:14Speaker 2: they had was just going aerial, just kick, kick, kick, kick, kick.
- 14:18Speaker 2: It was pretty one-dimensional stuff, but it ended up being
- 14:20Speaker 2: enough to win it for them in the end.
- 14:22Speaker 3: Yeah, that's right.
- 14:23Speaker 4: I mean, if you put Caelan Ponga in that rooster's–
- 14:28Speaker 4: with that Roosters pack in front of him, they would
- 14:30Speaker 4: have won by 40 the way he was going. But anyway,
- 14:33Speaker 4: he's playing for the Kiwis. And I mean, it shows
- 14:35Speaker 4: that even at the Warriors' worst, which was pretty much
- 14:39Speaker 4: their semi versus the Knights, you know, they couldn't have,
- 14:42Speaker 4: they tried hard, but they were just off a lot.
- 14:45Speaker 2: They weren't far off, you know.
- 14:46Speaker 4: So, I mean, yeah, it's a shoulda, woulda, coulda season
- 14:51Speaker 4: on the finals front for Warriors, but it's positive signs.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Yeah. For me, I'm absolutely stoked to now have a
- 14:56Speaker 2: second team. I love the Knights. I love the stories
- 14:58Speaker 2: that came out of that. It was great to see
- 15:00Speaker 2: some passion. A real bastard that the Roosters win another one.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Disgusts me. If you had to choose a Porter King
- 15:08Speaker 2: player of the week, mate, who would it be?
- 15:12Speaker 4: Um, it would be Nafahu White.
- 15:14Speaker 1: I thought he was just huge.
- 15:16Speaker 4: In the middle. And he said, uh, for me, he
- 15:20Speaker 4: probably is the best prop in the game now. That
- 15:23Speaker 4: modern day prop.
- 15:24Speaker 2: Um, I don't know.
- 15:25Speaker 4: He definitely gets the, uh, the bottle of, uh, what
- 15:28Speaker 4: are we getting him? What sort of bottle are we
- 15:30Speaker 4: getting him?
- 15:31Speaker 2: Probably an empty bottle.
- 15:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Getting him an empty bottle. Maybe a, um, a two litre, uh,
- 15:37Speaker 2: bottle of milk that's been cut in half and turned
- 15:40Speaker 2: into a, uh, You know, an apparatus for smoking weed.
- 15:45Speaker 3: Oh.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 15:46Speaker 4: Or one of those old glass Coke bottles that you
- 15:49Speaker 4: find when you're digging up whatever you're burying in the backyard.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Or maybe one of those bottles and it's got a
- 15:55Speaker 2: ship in it.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 15:58Speaker 4: Or maybe one of those rubber things that's shaped like
- 16:02Speaker 4: a big fist and it's got a.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Suction on one end. That's... Hang on a minute. Yeah,
- 16:11Speaker 2: that sounds good, bro.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Charlie, thank you so much for all your.
- 16:17Speaker 6: Hey, bro, yeah.
- 16:17Speaker 8: Still here.
- 16:18Speaker 3: No, you're good, mate. Thank you so much for all
- 16:21Speaker 3: your work for us over this season, mate. No doubt
- 16:23Speaker 3: it won't be the last time we catch up with you,
- 16:25Speaker 3: but thank you anyway, mate.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Hey, mate, we'll be in touch for the Rugby League
- 16:28Speaker 2: World Cups coming up, brother. We'll be talking to you
- 16:30Speaker 2: for that.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, and those Regaburger vouchers we keep talking about, right, Colin?
- 16:35Speaker 6: <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL>.
- 16:38Speaker 5: <HAL> <HAL> The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on
- 16:43Speaker 5: Radio Hauraki.
- 16:43Speaker 3: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers on the Hauraki Big Show
- 16:46Speaker 3: with Baby Jizz.
- 16:48Speaker 2: And Big Papa. Baby Jizz and Big Papa. That's got
- 16:51Speaker 2: to ring to it. So what's going on here is
- 16:54Speaker 2: Pugstone and I have got a radio show for a
- 16:55Speaker 2: couple of weeks while the other fellas are away and
- 16:57Speaker 2: we're just trying to come up with a suitable name.
- 16:59Speaker 2: The Big Show doesn't seem right. And it's kind of tradition,
- 17:03Speaker 2: isn't it, whenever the main team gets broken up that
- 17:05Speaker 2: we get a new name. So what was that one there?
- 17:07Speaker 3: That was Baby Jizz and Big Papa. That's from Harry.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Baby Jizz. So you're Baby Jizz.
- 17:14Speaker 3: What makes you say that?
- 17:16Speaker 2: Well, actually, maybe not. We don't know. Baby, no, I
- 17:18Speaker 2: think so. Because you're sort of coming in and you're
- 17:20Speaker 2: replacing Jase there. Hoity Jizz. It's not bad. It's certainly
- 17:25Speaker 2: got class. You know, it's got class. So when you
- 17:29Speaker 2: ring your mum up and tell her that your baby jizz.
- 17:32Speaker 3: She's going to love it.
- 17:33Speaker 2: Oh, she'll be absolutely thrilled.
- 17:34Speaker 3: Especially when she finds out that I'm filling in for
- 17:36Speaker 3: two weeks. She'll be listening to all of these names.
- 17:38Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 17:39Speaker 3: But all of them are in the drawer for a
- 17:41Speaker 3: $ 50 Reburg voucher. So keep them coming and we might
- 17:45Speaker 3: read it out and you might win one. Dilly might
- 17:47Speaker 3: pick one out for you.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Absolutely. Every break we're going to introduce a new one.
- 17:50Speaker 2: So keep an ear out.
- 17:51Speaker 3: Keep an ear out. Should we have some TV chat?
- 17:53Speaker 2: Yeah. What's on the telly? with Mike Minogue. You win. Well,
- 18:13Speaker 2: Jason Kesey don't like it when I do that. They're
- 18:15Speaker 2: not here. Fellas, I watched.
- 18:19Speaker 3: What?
- 18:21Speaker 2: I watched, well, started to watch East of Eden. which
- 18:25Speaker 2: is a new show. It's on Netflix, and it's based
- 18:29Speaker 2: on the John Steinbeck novel. It's adapted by Zoe Kazan,
- 18:34Speaker 2: whose father was in the original, from memory. Eli Kazan,
- 18:39Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure his name was. He's a really well-known actor.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Starring Florence Pugh and a bunch of others, and filmed
- 18:45Speaker 2: in New Zealand, made in New Zealand. And we chucked
- 18:50Speaker 2: it on on Friday night there, And within about 20
- 18:53Speaker 2: or 30 minutes, I said to the missus there, I says,
- 18:56Speaker 2: I says, I think this might be a masterpiece. Yeah.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Every single element is absolutely brilliant. The writing's unreal. They
- 19:09Speaker 2: treat the audience like an adult. They drop you into it.
- 19:12Speaker 2: They don't explain everything. They don't spend 10 minutes. If
- 19:16Speaker 2: you've got a phone in your hands, you're not going
- 19:18Speaker 2: to get it. You know, you get punished for not
- 19:20Speaker 2: paying attention.
- 19:21Speaker 3: Yep.
- 19:22Speaker 2: The performances are unbelievable. The set design is unbelievable. The
- 19:25Speaker 2: costumes are unbelievable. So many times I'll watch a show
- 19:29Speaker 2: and you see it's a period piece. It's about a
- 19:32Speaker 2: couple of brothers who are very distinctly different and a
- 19:36Speaker 2: woman comes into their lives and wreaks havoc. It's set
- 19:39Speaker 2: in the I would say maybe 1860s or something like that.
- 19:43Speaker 3: It goes from 1874 over to 1900 in the first
- 19:47Speaker 3: couple of episodes.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Yeah, that's right. While it establishes their life in history.
- 19:50Speaker 2: That's right. So sort of in the Wild West-y sort
- 19:53Speaker 2: of period there. And yeah, with the costume stuff, generally
- 19:58Speaker 2: it annoys me when you see something and it's set
- 20:01Speaker 2: in those times and where those people have got two
- 20:03Speaker 2: or three sets of clothes and that's their absolute lot.
- 20:06Speaker 2: They haven't got, not like us with a thousand T-shirts
- 20:08Speaker 2: or any of that sort of thing. And yet every
- 20:10Speaker 2: single person looks like they're wearing brand new clothes. They
- 20:13Speaker 2: have a department in film and television called the breakdown department,
- 20:16Speaker 2: and that's where you break down the costume to age
- 20:19Speaker 2: it appropriately. Rub everything on rocks or whatever. And so
- 20:22Speaker 2: often they don't do that, and it drives me nuts.
- 20:24Speaker 2: In this, every single detail has been thought of, and
- 20:29Speaker 2: it's brilliantly acted, brilliantly written.
- 20:31Speaker 3: I thought the casting was really good, especially in that
- 20:34Speaker 3: first episode where they do the young... all the way
- 20:36Speaker 3: to them now.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Bro, that young guy who goes off to war, this
- 20:41Speaker 2: guy is a smoke shot.
- 20:42Speaker 3: That's my partner's crush.
- 20:44Speaker 2: And I say that with no hesitation whatsoever. I was like,
- 20:49Speaker 2: this is like Brad Pitt level of performance in Thelma
- 20:52Speaker 2: and Louise. This dude is out the gate. And it's
- 20:57Speaker 2: constantly introducing new characters, new locations, and it's a solid
- 21:02Speaker 2: five buzzies out of a possible five buzzies. I smash
- 21:05Speaker 2: four episodes, and I'm going back to just doing one
- 21:08Speaker 2: at a time now because I want to have time
- 21:11Speaker 2: to think about each episode.
- 21:12Speaker 3: That's a good shout. I started it last night, sort
- 21:15Speaker 3: of a hungover viewing at the end of the day.
- 21:17Speaker 3: I'm house-sitting for Horty Giz.
- 21:18Speaker 1: Yes.
- 21:19Speaker 3: And he's got Netflix, so chuck that straight on there. And, yeah,
- 21:23Speaker 3: my partner and I were hooked from the first, like,
- 21:25Speaker 3: few scenes. Immediately.
- 21:26Speaker 2: It was just unbelievable.
- 21:27Speaker 3: And the way that they don't faff around with the history,
- 21:31Speaker 3: it's like, okay, We're going to show you in about
- 21:33Speaker 3: five minutes why these guys have this cooked relationship as brothers,
- 21:37Speaker 3: and you're going to totally believe it.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:39Speaker 3: Cinematography is beautiful. Aotearoa is beautiful.
- 21:42Speaker 2: Yeah, and what's funny about that as well is it's
- 21:45Speaker 2: got depth of field. And what I mean by that
- 21:49Speaker 2: is you'll be looking at a shot and there's things
- 21:51Speaker 2: in focus and there's other things that are out of focus. Now,
- 21:54Speaker 2: normally what Netflix does is they just leave everything in focus.
- 21:57Speaker 3: Yes.
- 21:58Speaker 2: So there's an art to it where... And most people
- 22:02Speaker 2: out there will be saying, yeah, I know how this works,
- 22:04Speaker 2: but there'll be people that don't. And the idea is
- 22:07Speaker 2: that you want to draw the eye of the viewer
- 22:09Speaker 2: by having something in focus and something out of focus.
- 22:12Speaker 2: And as something moves in and out of being in focus,
- 22:14Speaker 2: that shifts the eye of the audience. and it makes
- 22:17Speaker 2: you focus where the filmmaker wants you to be focusing, right?
- 22:20Speaker 2: There's an art to it. So that art's been completely
- 22:22Speaker 2: lost because it's just everything is in focus.
- 22:24Speaker 3: It's just flat.
- 22:25Speaker 2: You know, the thing that right in front of the
- 22:26Speaker 2: camera is in focus and the car, you know, three
- 22:29Speaker 2: k's away is also in focus.
- 22:30Speaker 4: Yes.
- 22:32Speaker 2: It's a brilliant piece of filmmaking. I can't recommend it
- 22:36Speaker 2: highly enough. Hopefully it doesn't fall apart.
- 22:38Speaker 6: Yes, I know.
- 22:39Speaker 2: It won't be for everyone. I'll also say that. Yes, yes,
- 22:42Speaker 2: I agree.
- 22:43Speaker 3: That's East of Eden. That's on Netflix. It's out now.
- 22:46Speaker 3: And coming up after six, there's heaps on. We're going
- 22:48Speaker 3: to catch up with our winner of Would You Rather. Sorry,
- 22:50Speaker 3: after five, Would You Rather winner Richard from Cambridge. He
- 22:54Speaker 3: texted me earlier today and said he was a broken man,
- 22:56Speaker 3: so we're going to get him on for a yarn.
- 22:58Speaker 3: And plus we're going to have the fellas from Blindspot in.
- 23:03Speaker 5: The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 23:06Speaker 5: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 23:09Speaker 3: Welcome back, you massive backbones. It is Kimono Mogi and
- 23:13Speaker 3: Pagu-san presents the Hauraki Big Show. And it's brought to
- 23:17Speaker 3: you by our good mates at Reburger. We're going to
- 23:22Speaker 3: need a bigger burger.
- 23:24Speaker 5: Yum, yum, yum, yum.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Mogi, what are your thoughts? What was it there?
- 23:29Speaker 3: So that was Kimono Mogi and Pagu-san presents.
- 23:32Speaker 2: I hate it. How do you feel about it?
- 23:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I kind of hate it too.
- 23:36Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, good.
- 23:37Speaker 2: But I was sort of like... Why don't we start
- 23:38Speaker 2: with the ones that we like, and if we don't
- 23:40Speaker 2: like them, we don't read them out. Like this one here,
- 23:43Speaker 2: Hammer and Tongues. You like that one, don't you? Welcome
- 23:45Speaker 2: to the big show with Hammer and Tongues.
- 23:48Speaker 3: Which one of us is Tongues?
- 23:50Speaker 2: I mean, we can change.
- 23:52Speaker 3: Oh.
- 23:52Speaker 2: We can swap it around. We can switch. Yeah, it
- 23:54Speaker 2: doesn't matter to me.
- 23:55Speaker 3: Okay. That was from Nathan. Sorry, we hated it.
- 23:58Speaker 6: Nathan.
- 24:00Speaker 3: But still, you're in the draw for the Reed Burger voucher.
- 24:02Speaker 3: We want you to send your names in for Pugs
- 24:04Speaker 3: and Mogi filling in for Keezy and Hoity J on leave.
- 24:08Speaker 6: Yes.
- 24:09Speaker 3: Keezy's in Japan. He put up a nice photo of
- 24:11Speaker 3: him having a little beer in a Japanese bar there
- 24:14Speaker 3: on a story. I'm excited for him, man.
- 24:17Speaker 2: Yeah, well, look, to say I'm excited for him would
- 24:19Speaker 2: be stretching it. What I'm interested to know is, because,
- 24:23Speaker 2: of course, he went over there and I know that
- 24:26Speaker 2: he was bidding to try and get himself a better seat.
- 24:29Speaker 3: Oh, he was doing that again?
- 24:30Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. So they'd done that before, I think when
- 24:32Speaker 2: they went over to Europe, and Keezy ended up putting himself, no,
- 24:35Speaker 2: maybe it was Barley, Keezy put himself... in premium economy
- 24:40Speaker 2: and he left his wife out back.
- 24:42Speaker 3: With Minaya and his partner?
- 24:44Speaker 2: Absolute dog move, right?
- 24:45Speaker 1: Terrible.
- 24:46Speaker 2: Bottom of the barrel stuff. Wouldn't even occur to me
- 24:48Speaker 2: to do that.
- 24:48Speaker 3: No, likewise.
- 24:49Speaker 2: And so this time he was trying to do it again.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Out of all of the yarns that he's going to
- 24:55Speaker 2: come back with that I don't want to hear about Japan.
- 24:57Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 24:58Speaker 2: Because I've already heard them from you.
- 24:59Speaker 3: Nothing cultural.
- 25:00Speaker 2: Nothing cultural. I just want to know how that went,
- 25:02Speaker 2: what happened and how it went down because it would
- 25:04Speaker 2: have been a disaster, I'm sure.
- 25:06Speaker 3: Absolutely. Now, we've got a big hour coming up. We're
- 25:09Speaker 3: going to catch up with our old mate Richard from
- 25:10Speaker 3: Cambridge who won the trip to go to the grand
- 25:12Speaker 3: final with G-Lane, Jerry and Minaya. So we're going to
- 25:17Speaker 3: get him on the phone next. Plus, we have a
- 25:19Speaker 3: bit of Big Show history with the best bit. Yes.
- 25:23Speaker 3: The fellas from Blindspot.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Bloody good, man. A couple of backbones from Blindspot there.
- 25:27Speaker 2: Can't wait to have a yarn to them. They've got
- 25:28Speaker 2: new music coming out, and it's been too long.
- 25:30Speaker 5: The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike, and Keezy. Tune
- 25:34Speaker 5: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 25:36Speaker 3: Bit of Ben Harper there on Tofu Boy and Dr.
- 25:39Speaker 3: Durry versus the world. It's the big show.
- 25:42Speaker 2: Muggy? What was it?
- 25:45Speaker 3: Tofu Boy and Dr. Durry versus the world.
- 25:48Speaker 6: Oh, no.
- 25:50Speaker 2: No, that's not good. What? Really? Tofu Boy is, you know,
- 25:54Speaker 2: there's a couple of different ways to go about this.
- 25:56Speaker 2: We're trying to, for the people out there, we're trying
- 25:58Speaker 2: to come up with a name for the show, you know,
- 26:01Speaker 2: while the fellas are away there, Hoiti J and Keezy. Yeah.
- 26:05Speaker 2: You know, it's a. Coming up with a new name
- 26:07Speaker 2: is a great way to kill off some breaks. But
- 26:10Speaker 2: great content at the same time. Actually, we've had hundreds
- 26:12Speaker 2: of texts come in here.
- 26:13Speaker 3: It's been really good so far.
- 26:15Speaker 2: So there's a couple of ways. You either go with
- 26:16Speaker 2: a whole name or you break it up and you
- 26:19Speaker 2: try and find a name for you and a name
- 26:21Speaker 2: for me and then you chuck it together and see
- 26:23Speaker 2: how you go. So what's working for you, what I
- 26:25Speaker 2: think works so far that I've seen come in? Here's
- 26:28Speaker 2: just a few examples.
- 26:29Speaker 3: Oh, here we go.
- 26:29Speaker 2: Tofu Boy, Woke Boy, and Puggy Jizz.
- 26:35Speaker 3: Puggy Jizz. Really like the creativity. There's a creative spirit
- 26:39Speaker 3: behind that one.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Dr.
- 26:42Speaker 3: Durry and The Truth for you. You like those ones?
- 26:46Speaker 2: Dr.
- 26:47Speaker 6: Durry.
- 26:47Speaker 2: Dr. Durry.
- 26:48Speaker 3: I think that's really good. That's from Liam, by the way.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Jolly good. Well, we'll have a look through and see
- 26:53Speaker 2: what we can come up with for me. In the meantime.
- 26:57Speaker 2: We're going to have a little chat to Richard, who
- 26:59Speaker 2: found himself the winner of the trip over to Sydney
- 27:03Speaker 2: to attend the NRL Grand Final, the Randwick Races, Trip Up,
- 27:07Speaker 2: the Brown Snake, all with Boys Trip. It went on,
- 27:11Speaker 2: I think, Friday, back today, and I can only assume, Richard,
- 27:14Speaker 2: that you are a shadow of a man.
- 27:16Speaker 1: Oh, mate, feeling pretty rough, I'd say.
- 27:20Speaker 2: Yeah, jolly good. Talk us through it, man. We've been
- 27:24Speaker 2: on a few of these trips. And generally what happens
- 27:27Speaker 2: is we get stitched up with a really early flight
- 27:29Speaker 2: on the Monday. What time did you get back?
- 27:31Speaker 1: Yeah, it was a 9am flight. So yeah, 6.30 wake up.
- 27:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:36Speaker 1: Maybe four or five hours sleep. Not too bad.
- 27:39Speaker 2: That's not too bad. That's not too bad. And you
- 27:42Speaker 2: got there on the Friday. First night fever?
- 27:44Speaker 1: Yeah, a little bit of that. No, we went hard
- 27:46Speaker 1: the first night. It was awesome to see. Josh Reynolds
- 27:50Speaker 1: and Gary Freeman talking up a storm.
- 27:53Speaker 2: How good's that? Gary Freeman, whiz. An absolute weapon of
- 27:59Speaker 2: a man. One of my favourite players when I was
- 28:01Speaker 2: growing up. He sort of reminds me of a fox
- 28:04Speaker 2: terrier for some reason. I don't know why that is.
- 28:06Speaker 2: He's only a little feller there. A backbone from the
- 28:09Speaker 2: sounds of it?
- 28:10Speaker 1: Oh, very much so.
- 28:11Speaker 2: A lot of chat.
- 28:12Speaker 1: A lot of chat.
- 28:14Speaker 2: A lot of words in it. The perfect, the perfect halfback.
- 28:18Speaker 2: And then, so what time did you finish it up
- 28:20Speaker 2: on that Friday?
- 28:21Speaker 1: I think we caught up with some other mates in Sydney,
- 28:24Speaker 1: so I think it was about 2 a.m. we got back.
- 28:26Speaker 2: That's not bad.
- 28:27Speaker 3: That's pretty good for a first night.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Unfortunately, though, that's like 5 o'clock because of daylight savings.
- 28:32Speaker 6: True.
- 28:33Speaker 2: So that is a big day for you. And then
- 28:34Speaker 2: what time are you up and into it on day two?
- 28:37Speaker 1: Oh, well, straight to the races at about 11. So, yep,
- 28:40Speaker 1: straight on to the beers then, which were... Yeah, the
- 28:43Speaker 1: framework was awesome. Such a good place.
- 28:45Speaker 2: It is. It's an absolute ripper. Spent a fair amount
- 28:48Speaker 2: of time over there, and I was there for about
- 28:51Speaker 2: four years, never managed to find my way to the races,
- 28:53Speaker 2: but I did get a few beers in me, so
- 28:55Speaker 2: that was good. Talk us through the main event, man,
- 28:57Speaker 2: the grand final. How was it? Oh, pretty good.
- 29:01Speaker 1: I feel bad that the Knights didn't get up.
- 29:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:04Speaker 1: Felt like it was probably the closest one-sided match I've
- 29:07Speaker 1: seen for a long time.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, probably the most one-sided game I've seen
- 29:11Speaker 2: all year, and yet somehow they didn't get flogged. What
- 29:16Speaker 2: was the vibe in the stadium? Because watching it last night,
- 29:18Speaker 2: it seemed like it was loud as a bastard.
- 29:21Speaker 1: There were night fans just everywhere. They were just so dominant,
- 29:26Speaker 1: the crowd. But, yeah, obviously they went a bit quiet
- 29:28Speaker 1: towards the end, apart from the last minute and 30
- 29:31Speaker 1: seconds or so when there was still hope.
- 29:33Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. Look, I kind of faded a little bit
- 29:36Speaker 2: myself around about then, but it was a good game.
- 29:40Speaker 2: but you really feel for them. But a great thing
- 29:42Speaker 2: for you to be there for. What time did you
- 29:44Speaker 2: get to bed this morning?
- 29:46Speaker 1: Oh, we had to go to the hotel bar and
- 29:48Speaker 1: do a bit of a debrief after the match.
- 29:50Speaker 2: Of course, yeah.
- 29:52Speaker 1: Yeah, so I think, yeah, you'd buy about one or
- 29:54Speaker 1: two again.
- 29:54Speaker 2: No, you did pretty well, man. Kept it pretty respectable.
- 29:57Speaker 2: All in all, how was it? Boys trip look after you?
- 30:00Speaker 1: Oh, so well. They just put it on and you
- 30:03Speaker 1: don't have to think about anything. You just kind of
- 30:05Speaker 1: turn up and they do the rest and there's beers
- 30:07Speaker 1: everywhere you go.
- 30:09Speaker 3: Fantastic.
- 30:10Speaker 2: You bloody beauty.
- 30:10Speaker 3: That is Richard from Cambridge. Thanks for jumping on with us, man.
- 30:13Speaker 3: Go have a snooze. I think tomorrow we'll catch up
- 30:16Speaker 3: with G Lane. But thanks very much for that, mate.
- 30:18Speaker 2: Cheers, guys. Have a good one. Good on you, brother.
- 30:21Speaker 2: See you. Oh, wow. It sounded like he was on
- 30:23Speaker 2: the verge of bursting into tears there, didn't he?
- 30:25Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 30:26Speaker 2: He was barely holding it together.
- 30:27Speaker 3: He used the last bit, the last bit of what
- 30:30Speaker 3: he had left for us here on The Big Show.
- 30:33Speaker 5: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 30:37Speaker 3: The Big Show with Mogi and Pugs. Keezy and Jase
- 30:40Speaker 3: away on holiday. But I thought we should probably keep
- 30:43Speaker 3: some of the powder dry, Mogi, and I got some
- 30:45Speaker 3: best bits out of the archives that we haven't played
- 30:48Speaker 3: back before on the show as a best bit. So
- 30:51Speaker 3: they're new to the library. Now, I've gone back to
- 30:54Speaker 3: this time three years ago. Wow. So October 2023. Yeah.
- 30:59Speaker 3: And you guys were getting pretty deep into some chat
- 31:02Speaker 3: about Uber ratings.
- 31:04Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 31:04Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah.
- 31:05Speaker 2: Yeah, that sounds like classic radio content.
- 31:08Speaker 6: So we're talking Uber ratings.
- 31:11Speaker 7: It seems to be, from the text machine on 3483 there, Mogi,
- 31:15Speaker 7: leaning towards Keezy there.
- 31:18Speaker 2: Having the lowest.
- 31:18Speaker 6: Having the lowest one.
- 31:20Speaker 2: Yeah, it is.
- 31:21Speaker 6: It is.
- 31:22Speaker 3: And.
- 31:23Speaker 2: I think that sort of makes sense. I mean, he's
- 31:25Speaker 2: in his drinking days. Sure. He's the most likely to
- 31:30Speaker 2: be out after midnight, which you and I, those days
- 31:32Speaker 2: are sort of done and dusted for us.
- 31:34Speaker 6: Yes.
- 31:35Speaker 2: If I am out after midnight, then I'll probably still
- 31:37Speaker 2: be up at 7am, so they think I'm going to work. Yeah, yeah. So, yeah,
- 31:42Speaker 2: my feeling is that you'll have the best, but I
- 31:44Speaker 2: don't know how many trips you've had.
- 31:46Speaker 6: Hundreds, hundreds.
- 31:47Speaker 2: Can you pass me your phone and I'll check?
- 31:49Speaker 6: I've had it for, I've been doing Uber for three years.
- 31:52Speaker 4: Sure.
- 31:52Speaker 6: And I actually have, I do use it quite a lot.
- 31:55Speaker 2: Sure.
- 31:55Speaker 6: But we're not going to check it.
- 31:57Speaker 2: Why won't you let me check, Jase? You're being very
- 31:59Speaker 2: shifty about all this.
- 32:00Speaker 6: I'm not being shifty.
- 32:01Speaker 1: Yes, you are.
- 32:01Speaker 2: Quite shifty.
- 32:03Speaker 6: Let's get to the ratings.
- 32:04Speaker 1: Okay.
- 32:05Speaker 2: Very shifty. Classic. Quite shifty. Well, this is going to
- 32:09Speaker 2: be one of those results which has got an asterisk
- 32:11Speaker 2: on it because Jase is refusing to share the information.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Excuse me.
- 32:14Speaker 6: Are you guys sharing your information?
- 32:16Speaker 2: Yes, I already have. I've had 400 trips and my
- 32:21Speaker 2: rating is 4.87. That's right.
- 32:24Speaker 9: So, and I have done 117 trips, and my rating is.
- 32:29Speaker 2: Really?
- 32:30Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 32:30Speaker 2: My rating is 4.82. Oh, right. So I've dominated you
- 32:35Speaker 2: in this, Keezy. And what's interesting about this, of course,
- 32:37Speaker 2: is the reason why Keezy has taken so few trips
- 32:40Speaker 2: is because every time he gets maggoted... He calls his wife.
- 32:44Speaker 1: My wife!
- 32:46Speaker 2: 100% we've got a deal with. It's quite good, so
- 32:48Speaker 2: you don't really have to deal with Uber drivers too often.
- 32:50Speaker 2: That's not bad. I'm beginning to come around to that
- 32:52Speaker 2: way of thinking, although I'd rather pay the eight bucks
- 32:55Speaker 2: and have an upset wife because you called her at 3am.
- 32:58Speaker 6: Yeah, sure.
- 33:00Speaker 7: You know, and I'm going to be honest with you,
- 33:02Speaker 7: if Uber had been going 20 years ago, I would
- 33:04Speaker 7: have been in a world of pain. Oh, yeah.
- 33:06Speaker 6: I would have been in a world of pain.
- 33:08Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely.
- 33:08Speaker 6: Make no mistake about it.
- 33:10Speaker 2: New Zealand.
- 33:11Speaker 9: Sorry, just trying to operate my way through Jace's Sony
- 33:14Speaker 9: Alcatel here. So you've been using, you've taken 46 trips.
- 33:21Speaker 2: You've ordered Uber Eats 35 times. You've almost done that more.
- 33:28Speaker 6: I tell you what, that'd be my daughter, actually.
- 33:30Speaker 2: Oh, right.
- 33:31Speaker 9: You've had one three-star trip, and that's it. That's your
- 33:34Speaker 9: only non-five-star rating.
- 33:36Speaker 2: Right, okay.
- 33:36Speaker 3: And you've had 45-star ratings.
- 33:38Speaker 2: Overall, Jason Hoyt, 4.95. Yeah, right.
- 33:41Speaker 6: Thanks, mate. Yeah, thanks, mate.
- 33:43Speaker 2: And so you were, Mike, you were 4.95. 4.87 with
- 33:46Speaker 2: 400 trips. 4.82. And I spent God knows how much
- 33:50Speaker 2: money on Ubers.
- 33:53Speaker 6: Well, there you go. God almighty, that's a lot of trips.
- 33:55Speaker 2: Me. Oh, yeah. No one saw that coming.
- 33:59Speaker 6: But I thought that, you know, Muggy made the good point.
- 34:01Speaker 6: You're in your prime there, Keezy. Am I what?
- 34:03Speaker 3: Wow.
- 34:05Speaker 6: You're going out and about all the time, so that's
- 34:07Speaker 6: probably about right. That's probably it, yeah, yeah. All of
- 34:09Speaker 6: them above 4.8.
- 34:11Speaker 2: Pretty good, fellas.
- 34:12Speaker 6: So I'm proud of us, too.
- 34:13Speaker 2: Yeah, good work, guys. High five.
- 34:15Speaker 6: Yeah, thanks, fellas. Yeah, great stuff.
- 34:17Speaker 3: How's your Uber rating these days?
- 34:19Speaker 2: That's a good question. I think I'm sitting at about
- 34:21Speaker 2: a 4 point. I'm going to go, look, if you're
- 34:24Speaker 2: in your threes, you're in trouble, but I think I'm
- 34:26Speaker 2: probably about a 4.9.
- 34:27Speaker 3: I think I'm around a 4.7, and when I found
- 34:30Speaker 3: that out, that really offended me.
- 34:32Speaker 2: That's terrible.
- 34:33Speaker 3: But I've never done anything in an Uber that I regret.
- 34:37Speaker 3: It's literally just probably just not shutting up.
- 34:40Speaker 2: 4.9. I'm a 4.9.
- 34:42Speaker 3: That's pretty good. I haven't got my phone on me
- 34:44Speaker 3: right now, but I'll have a look. That was October
- 34:47Speaker 3: 2023 on the Hauraki Big Show, and you can listen
- 34:50Speaker 3: to that and every other show we've ever done just
- 34:52Speaker 3: by searching Hauraki Big Show wherever you get your podcasts from.
- 34:55Speaker 3: And after the break, Mogi, the fellas from Blindspot coming in.
- 34:58Speaker 3: The Hauraki Big Show.
- 35:01Speaker 5: Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 35:03Speaker 3: That's the Arctic Monkeys on the big show with the
- 35:07Speaker 3: Yamanogi Boys. The Yamanogi Boys. Now, what I like about
- 35:12Speaker 3: this one, Mogi, before you say it's shit, is that
- 35:16Speaker 3: it includes Dilly in Studio B. Because of the Yami Boys.
- 35:20Speaker 2: So it's the Yami Boys and old Mogi. What do
- 35:23Speaker 2: you reckon? um i hate it oh oh no what
- 35:28Speaker 2: did you say before i say it's shit yeah it's
- 35:30Speaker 2: shit oh okay but i mean it's not terrible i
- 35:33Speaker 2: like that there's been uh about three seconds where the
- 35:35Speaker 2: thought go into.
- 35:36Speaker 3: It so it's so it's not shit but you hate
- 35:38Speaker 3: it well it's not.
- 35:39Speaker 2: It's not the winner is it no you know you
- 35:41Speaker 2: see what i'm saying it's not going to be it's
- 35:43Speaker 2: not going to be the one that we go with
- 35:44Speaker 2: and therefore ergo is uh is shit.
- 35:49Speaker 3: I think maybe I'm going to be really backing the
- 35:51Speaker 3: creative spirit and you're going to be the Simon Cowell.
- 35:54Speaker 2: Is it creative?
- 35:56Speaker 3: What was it called? The Yamanogi Boys.
- 35:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:00Speaker 3: They had to make Minogue fit into yummy. So one
- 36:03Speaker 3: point for that. One buzzy out of five.
- 36:05Speaker 2: Well, we were talking a little bit earlier on about
- 36:08Speaker 2: individual names that we could come up with. Yeah. So
- 36:11Speaker 2: you had, what were you?
- 36:13Speaker 3: One of them was Puggy Jizz.
- 36:15Speaker 2: Puggy Jizz, which is brilliant. Is it? Absolutely brilliant. Tofu
- 36:17Speaker 2: Boy is another one.
- 36:18Speaker 3: That's a classic.
- 36:19Speaker 2: And then there was something else here. I can't quite
- 36:21Speaker 2: remember it.
- 36:21Speaker 3: That's fine.
- 36:22Speaker 2: Somebody's suggesting for me Thick Throbber.
- 36:25Speaker 3: For you specifically?
- 36:26Speaker 2: Yeah, just for me.
- 36:27Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, you're on a winning streak. I can't
- 36:30Speaker 3: argue with that.
- 36:30Speaker 2: I don't think they're talking about that.
- 36:32Speaker 3: Now, after six, we've got something brand new for the
- 36:36Speaker 3: Yamanogi Boys, from the Yamanogi Boys, if you will, and
- 36:39Speaker 3: it's called Songs.
- 36:41Speaker 2: From Bands That I Like. Songs from Bands That I Like.
- 36:44Speaker 2: We were going to do something called Deep Cuts because
- 36:46Speaker 2: we play a lot of bands, but there's so many
- 36:49Speaker 2: great songs from so many great bands that often you
- 36:51Speaker 2: don't get to hear them. And then we were having
- 36:53Speaker 2: a chat off here and then talking about some other
- 36:55Speaker 2: bands that we like that don't get a thrashing. And
- 36:58Speaker 2: we thought, well, maybe we could bring it to the
- 36:59Speaker 2: people and see what they think, and maybe they should
- 37:01Speaker 2: be getting played.
- 37:02Speaker 3: It's a good shout.
- 37:03Speaker 2: It's a really good shout. So we're going to play
- 37:07Speaker 2: songs from a band whose music that I like.
- 37:10Speaker 3: Songs from bands I like. And that's coming up after six,
- 37:14Speaker 3: so stick around for that. Plus, we'll get an update
- 37:16Speaker 3: from Dilly about our Bet Your Pot potheads with the
- 37:20Speaker 3: grand final yesterday.
- 37:21Speaker 2: Stick around. We'll be right back.
- 37:25Speaker 5: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 37:28Speaker 5: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 37:31Speaker 3: Welcome back, you massive backbones. You are listening to the
- 37:33Speaker 3: Hauraki Big Show. No Jase, no Keezy. They're on holiday.
- 37:37Speaker 3: But it is still brought to you by our good
- 37:39Speaker 3: mates at ReBurger. Serving good times and good food. Dine
- 37:42Speaker 3: in or take away ReBurger today.
- 37:45Speaker 6: Mmm, yummy.
- 37:48Speaker 3: You got plans for tea tonight, Mogi? You got any idea?
- 37:51Speaker 2: I do, because my wife and daughter have left me,
- 37:55Speaker 2: so I'm fending for myself. Yesterday I pulled out a
- 37:58Speaker 2: kilo of lasagna from the freezer, and I'm down to about,
- 38:03Speaker 2: I'd say, 200 grams.
- 38:06Speaker 3: That's real bachelor shit, having a whole lasagna to yourself.
- 38:10Speaker 2: Yeah, well, the flip side of that is that you
- 38:12Speaker 2: make it, you eat some of it, you put it
- 38:14Speaker 2: in the fridge for a week, and then you bin it.
- 38:16Speaker 2: But I'm quite happy just chowing through until it's all gone.
- 38:22Speaker 2: It's delicious. It's really easy. So that's great. But I
- 38:24Speaker 2: was just sort of thinking about a kilo in a
- 38:26Speaker 2: couple of days. That's quite a lot. It's quite a lot.
- 38:30Speaker 3: I would like to see what the maths is on
- 38:32Speaker 3: your body weight.
- 38:34Speaker 2: Yeah. Look, I can draw you a diagram if you
- 38:38Speaker 2: like and take a few photos to back it up.
- 38:41Speaker 2: But I guess that is, how many meals is that
- 38:43Speaker 2: going to be? One, two, three, four meals.
- 38:47Speaker 3: That's pretty good.
- 38:47Speaker 2: That's not bad.
- 38:48Speaker 3: I like it. And I would eat lasagna for a
- 38:50Speaker 3: whole week if I could, if I didn't have to
- 38:53Speaker 3: share it. So I'm with you. I think I'm doing
- 38:55Speaker 3: like a sort of nacho alternative tonight, where I saw
- 38:59Speaker 3: this recipe where you can use, you crisp up some
- 39:02Speaker 3: potato slices.
- 39:03Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 39:04Speaker 3: Almost like loaded wedges.
- 39:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 39:06Speaker 3: Pretty much.
- 39:06Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 39:07Speaker 3: But it's a healthy nacho alternative.
- 39:09Speaker 2: Right.
- 39:11Speaker 3: Right.
- 39:11Speaker 2: Beans and... Any meat in there? No. You going vego tonight?
- 39:14Speaker 3: Partner's vego.
- 39:15Speaker 2: That's right.
- 39:16Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah.
- 39:16Speaker 3: We're house sitting at Horty Jizz's, so that means I'm
- 39:19Speaker 3: vego tonight too, yeah. But she's planning a trip away,
- 39:22Speaker 3: so I reckon I'm going to get on the old,
- 39:24Speaker 3: you know how people talk about the ground beef and
- 39:25Speaker 3: sweet potato, how that's like the gym staple? Yes. Like
- 39:29Speaker 3: a few, yeah. I'm looking at doing that.
- 39:31Speaker 2: The other one is chicken and broccoli.
- 39:36Speaker 3: Oh.
- 39:36Speaker 2: Yeah, chicken breast and broccoli.
- 39:38Speaker 3: Not as interesting to me. No. Due to the vegetable choice.
- 39:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 39:42Speaker 3: But, you know, I'll probably get bored and switch it
- 39:44Speaker 3: up at some point. Now, up next, songs from bands
- 39:48Speaker 3: I like.
- 39:49Speaker 2: Yes, is that now?
- 39:50Speaker 6: Great.
- 39:50Speaker 3: Songs from bands I like. That is up next. Mogi,
- 39:52Speaker 3: you're up first. Yes. You're going to be picking a
- 39:54Speaker 3: song from a band that you like.
- 39:56Speaker 2: Yes, a song from a band that I like.
- 39:57Speaker 3: Yes, and one that we don't usually play here on Hauraki.
- 40:00Speaker 3: So hang around for that. But in the meantime, here's
- 40:02Speaker 3: some Green Day.
- 40:05Speaker 5: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 40:09Speaker 3: Soundgarden there on the Hauraki Big Show with Pugs and Mogi.
- 40:14Speaker 3: Or Mogi and Pugs, whatever you like. Now, we're entering
- 40:16Speaker 3: the last week of your chance to win $ 2, 500 worth
- 40:20Speaker 3: of trade-tested products. That's right, it's Big Deck Energy. We
- 40:24Speaker 3: have teamed up with those fellas again, those absolute backbones,
- 40:26Speaker 3: and it's your chance to get your deck in shape
- 40:28Speaker 3: for summer. So I think we've got one more winner
- 40:31Speaker 3: this Friday, and then that's it. You've had a few chances.
- 40:33Speaker 3: We've done like three other winners before this, so this
- 40:35Speaker 3: is your last shot.
- 40:37Speaker 2: Do you want to hear a couple of sort of
- 40:38Speaker 2: wish lists that people have put.
- 40:39Speaker 3: Together, man? I've noticed going through some of these entries,
- 40:43Speaker 3: people are really not getting that it's a $ 2, 500 limit.
- 40:46Speaker 2: The world's full of idiots, Pugs. I don't know what
- 40:48Speaker 2: to tell you.
- 40:48Speaker 3: But you'd think that maybe they would sort of get
- 40:50Speaker 3: the picture given that every time we've talked about this,
- 40:53Speaker 3: we've had to specify that people have gone over the
- 40:55Speaker 3: limit and therefore are disqualified.
- 40:57Speaker 2: I don't know how much crossover there is between people
- 41:00Speaker 2: that enter competitions and also listen to the big show.
- 41:03Speaker 3: I think it's A hundred percent.
- 41:05Speaker 2: You think it's a hundred percent? Yeah.
- 41:07Speaker 3: I think it's a hundred percent. Like this person here.
- 41:09Speaker 3: They've actually, they've gone for a Louvre roof system, four
- 41:12Speaker 3: by four meter charcoal.
- 41:13Speaker 6: $ 4, 499.
- 41:14Speaker 3: You never know your luck.
- 41:17Speaker 2: So close. You never know your luck.
- 41:18Speaker 3: They're getting there. There's someone here that has actually done
- 41:22Speaker 3: the math a little bit and they've gone for a
- 41:24Speaker 3: steel gas fire table. So I guess that's a fire table.
- 41:29Speaker 3: Hadn't heard of that before. I guess it's to keep
- 41:30Speaker 3: people warm outside.
- 41:31Speaker 2: Yeah, that's it.
- 41:33Speaker 3: Someone else has gone for a planter pot.
- 41:36Speaker 2: So that's quite nice. Just one thing.
- 41:37Speaker 3: Just one planter pot, yeah.
- 41:38Speaker 2: How much is that?
- 41:40Speaker 3: That is $ 19. 90. Yeah, that's under, isn't it? That's under
- 41:44Speaker 3: the $ 2.
- 41:44Speaker 6: 50.
- 41:44Speaker 3: Yeah, but they've got more stuff. They've got more stuff here.
- 41:47Speaker 3: I can see a lawnmower there, but they've covered the name.
- 41:49Speaker 3: And then, how's this? A little jazzy. Falling water triple
- 41:53Speaker 3: water feature with pump and light.
- 41:56Speaker 8: That's $ 499.
- 41:56Speaker 3: I'll be honest with.
- 41:57Speaker 2: You, it sounds like a bit of old tat, doesn't it?
- 42:02Speaker 3: Well, I mean, maybe they have.
- 42:03Speaker 2: I'm sure because it's on Trade Tested, it's absolute quality.
- 42:06Speaker 3: Well, yes, but in terms of their selection, it's like
- 42:09Speaker 3: everything before that seemed really deliberate.
- 42:11Speaker 2: Yes.
- 42:11Speaker 3: And then they've gone for just a little flourish.
- 42:13Speaker 1: Ooh.
- 42:14Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 42:14Speaker 3: Why not a falling water, triple water feature with pump
- 42:17Speaker 3: and light?
- 42:17Speaker 2: Yeah, sounds good.
- 42:19Speaker 3: Now, it's not too late to get your entry in.
- 42:21Speaker 3: All you have to do is go over geese at tradetested.co.nz,
- 42:25Speaker 3: have a look at all the great stuff they've got there,
- 42:27Speaker 3: and then enter what you want to win. at hodaki.co.nz
- 42:31Speaker 3: slash bigdeckenergy. We will ask you for a screenshot or
- 42:34Speaker 3: a screen capture of your wish list. Make your deck
- 42:37Speaker 3: great with Trade Tested. Check it all out, tradetested.co.nz. And
- 42:42Speaker 3: up next, Mogi, songs from bands that I like.
- 42:45Speaker 2: That's right.
- 42:47Speaker 5: The Hodaki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 42:51Speaker 3: On the Hodaki Big Show with sausage and beans.
- 42:57Speaker 2: Sausage and beans. That has got a ring to it.
- 42:59Speaker 2: I don't mind that one.
- 43:00Speaker 3: Well, I think if you say it like I say it,
- 43:02Speaker 3: if you're just reading it, it's not that interesting. Oh,
- 43:04Speaker 3: that's ruining it.
- 43:05Speaker 2: That's ruining it. But, you know, we'll work on the
- 43:07Speaker 2: delivery because we'll get our voice guy to do it,
- 43:10Speaker 2: which is not us. Oh, okay.
- 43:11Speaker 3: You know what's weird? I actually got an email internally
- 43:14Speaker 3: from the company today. He's on leave for two weeks.
- 43:16Speaker 2: Is he really?
- 43:16Speaker 6: Yes.
- 43:17Speaker 2: Right when we need him.
- 43:18Speaker 3: So I'll have to do it.
- 43:18Speaker 2: So you're telling me that Keezy's away, Hoity J is away,
- 43:22Speaker 2: both of them for two weeks, and the guy that
- 43:24Speaker 2: does all the voicing on our station... He's away for
- 43:27Speaker 2: two weeks.
- 43:28Speaker 4: Yes.
- 43:28Speaker 2: Something's going on, man.
- 43:29Speaker 3: You know who is here.
- 43:31Speaker 2: Sausage and beans.
- 43:33Speaker 3: Now, this is a brand new segment on Radio Hauraki. Mogi,
- 43:36Speaker 3: tell them all about it.
- 43:37Speaker 2: Well, this is a segment. We don't have a sting
- 43:39Speaker 2: for it. We don't have a sting for it. Honestly,
- 43:42Speaker 2: why don't you play the old sting?
- 43:44Speaker 3: The original one?
- 43:45Speaker 2: Yeah, the one that we had. I.
- 43:46Speaker 3: Okay.
- 43:47Speaker 2: Just play it.
- 43:48Speaker 6: Okay.
- 43:53Speaker 2: That's brilliant. So originally it was going to be B-Sides,
- 43:56Speaker 2: which is songs from bands that don't often get played,
- 43:59Speaker 2: which this is, but we also wanted to be able
- 44:01Speaker 2: to introduce bands that maybe don't get played on Hauraki
- 44:04Speaker 2: at all, and maybe they could.
- 44:06Speaker 3: I guess in my head B-Sides for us is songs
- 44:10Speaker 3: that we like that we don't normally hear or get
- 44:12Speaker 3: to play.
- 44:12Speaker 2: Exactly right.
- 44:13Speaker 3: So it includes that new stuff maybe.
- 44:16Speaker 2: That's right.
- 44:16Speaker 3: But I like your one better, man, which is.
- 44:19Speaker 2: Songs from bands that I like. Yeah, so I reckon
- 44:21Speaker 2: there's a rhythm to it and you're going to make
- 44:23Speaker 2: a great sting for that tomorrow, Pugs. I'm looking forward
- 44:25Speaker 2: to it, brother. Cheers. The tune that I'm going with is, look,
- 44:28Speaker 2: I don't even know if it's that much of a
- 44:30Speaker 2: B-side really, but it is definitely a song from a
- 44:33Speaker 2: band that I like. And it doesn't get sort of
- 44:35Speaker 2: thrust into the higher echelons of their great songs or
- 44:38Speaker 2: certainly their most known, but it is absolutely one of
- 44:41Speaker 2: my favourites and for many, many years it would be
- 44:44Speaker 2: a favourite at the gym. That song is Diesel Power.
- 44:48Speaker 2: From Prodigy.
- 44:49Speaker 3: What a tune.
- 44:50Speaker 2: And it is off their debut album that came out
- 44:53Speaker 2: in 1997 from Memory. Oh, no, it wasn't their debut album. Actually,
- 44:56Speaker 2: it was their second album.
- 44:58Speaker 3: Because you've picked the Prodigy, and I have as well,
- 45:00Speaker 3: a few times for the Friday Throbber. But that one
- 45:03Speaker 3: has never come into it. It's always been your breathes,
- 45:05Speaker 3: your omens.
- 45:06Speaker 2: That's right, and voodoo people. And I've always thought about this,
- 45:09Speaker 2: and I'm like, and the reason I haven't is because
- 45:12Speaker 2: I'm like, do people know it? well enough to vote
- 45:14Speaker 2: for it. To call up and vote for old Mogi.
- 45:16Speaker 2: That's right. So for me, that means it is a
- 45:18Speaker 2: lesser known, and that's why I've chosen it today.
- 45:21Speaker 8: Fantastic.
- 45:21Speaker 3: Well, this is the first ever edition of Songs From
- 45:25Speaker 3: Bands that I like. Mogi's turn. This is the Prodigy
- 45:28Speaker 3: Diesel Power. On Radio Hauraki, let us know what you think. 3483.
- 45:31Speaker 5: The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 45:35Speaker 5: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 45:38Speaker 3: That's Dave Dobbin there on the Hauraki Big Show with
- 45:41Speaker 3: Pugs and Old Mogi. But we've got a special guest
- 45:43Speaker 3: in the studio. I feel like we need to make
- 45:45Speaker 3: a sting for you. It's Big Dilly from Studio P.
- 45:48Speaker 3: How are you?
- 45:48Speaker 8: I'm good, Pugs. How are you going, brother?
- 45:50Speaker 3: Bet, how was your first day on the big job, man?
- 45:53Speaker 10: I appreciate the call-up. It started off quite stressful, you know,
- 45:57Speaker 10: but we're getting through it, man.
- 45:58Speaker 3: Yeah, there were a few glasses thrown earlier on, but
- 46:01Speaker 3: now you're here for all business. On Friday, we were
- 46:04Speaker 3: talking about Betcha because of the Radio Hauraki potheads pot. Now,
- 46:07Speaker 3: Keezy's been running it for the last, I don't know
- 46:09Speaker 3: how long, Kip? A few weeks by now, right?
- 46:12Speaker 8: Yeah, he's done a couple now, to my understanding, yeah.
- 46:15Speaker 3: And I think he was doing so poorly that he
- 46:17Speaker 3: stopped talking about it at one point. But obviously he
- 46:20Speaker 3: was leaving for Japan on Friday, so you were in charge.
- 46:24Speaker 3: What have you got for us, man? How did it go?
- 46:26Speaker 8: Yeah, it was a bit of a hospital pass.
- 46:27Speaker 10: We kind of realised maybe late Saturday, no, late Sunday, that, oh, no,
- 46:31Speaker 10: I think Kesey's going to be on a plane to
- 46:32Speaker 10: Japan at that point.
- 46:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:34Speaker 3: So the burden fell on me, and I have to
- 46:38Speaker 3: stress that.
- 46:38Speaker 8: I'm not much of a gambler. And also, this is
- 46:42Speaker 8: a safe space. I don't know much about league either.
- 46:45Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 46:46Speaker 10: I think this might have been the second game of
- 46:48Speaker 10: league that I've ever watched without the Warriors being involved.
- 46:51Speaker 3: I'm really glad we called you up for it then.
- 46:53Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 46:53Speaker 3: Because there was a lot on the line.
- 46:54Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm definitely the guy, right?
- 46:56Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 46:58Speaker 8: First foray into sort of both avenues here. Didn't lose
- 47:01Speaker 8: all of it. I'll put it that way. I'll put
- 47:04Speaker 8: it that way, mate.
- 47:05Speaker 2: Well done, brother.
- 47:06Speaker 8: I think we started off with about 500 in the pot.
- 47:08Speaker 10: And we walked away with about 300 of the potfellas.
- 47:12Speaker 3: Now, it must have been like being thrown to the
- 47:14Speaker 3: dogs a little bit, because from what I understand, that
- 47:16Speaker 3: chat was just an absolute cesspool of people just doing
- 47:19Speaker 3: Keezy left, right and center. How did you kind of fare?
- 47:22Speaker 8: Well, I kind of I was leaning into them.
- 47:25Speaker 10: I was like, hey, guys, you know, some some some
- 47:27Speaker 10: tips and some puns would be great right about now.
- 47:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 47:30Speaker 8: And they're less than helpful. They were like, oh.
- 47:33Speaker 10: You know, maybe over two substantial head knocks. I think
- 47:37Speaker 10: one person, he put extra time, and then when he
- 47:40Speaker 10: realised it wasn't getting extra time, he deleted his message.
- 47:42Speaker 8: Oh, fantastic.
- 47:44Speaker 10: Yeah, they've been less than helpful anyway, so I was
- 47:46Speaker 10: kind of just tracking it on my own blindly.
- 47:49Speaker 8: But hey, didn't lose all of it.
- 47:51Speaker 3: No, and what a strong finish. That's all thanks to
- 47:54Speaker 3: our mates at Betcha, R18, bet responsibly. New customers get
- 47:58Speaker 3: $ 100 bonus cash when you sign up to Betcha and
- 48:00Speaker 3: deposit $ 50.
- 48:00Speaker 6: Dilly.
- 48:02Speaker 3: Thanks so much for tagging in for old Keezy, man.
- 48:04Speaker 8: Oh, that's all right. I look forward to the next one, guys.
- 48:06Speaker 5: The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike, and Keezy. Tune
- 48:10Speaker 5: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 48:28Speaker 3: So that is the first ever edition of the Hauraki
- 48:32Speaker 3: Big Show with Mogi and Pugs.
- 48:33Speaker 2: There you go.
- 48:34Speaker 3: How are you feeling, man?
- 48:35Speaker 2: Yeah, really good. I thoroughly enjoyed that. Sometimes I feel
- 48:38Speaker 2: like the other guys bully me. I feel like I
- 48:43Speaker 2: can be a little bit under the spotlight. But with you,
- 48:46Speaker 2: I feel safe.
- 48:49Speaker 3: Almost a compliment. Almost a compliment.
- 48:51Speaker 2: Almost a compliment.
- 48:52Speaker 3: And I'll take it. But look, it's been a great
- 48:54Speaker 3: pleasure for me as well. Now, usually around about this time,
- 48:57Speaker 3: we would plug the disclaimer podcast, which is a bonus
- 49:00Speaker 3: podcast we do every day before we come in. But
- 49:03Speaker 3: Mogi and I aren't doing that. No. So what I've
- 49:06Speaker 3: done is I've gone back in the archives again and
- 49:09Speaker 3: I have picked out an entire episode of what was
- 49:12Speaker 3: then called the podcast outro.
- 49:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 49:15Speaker 3: And I've just revamped it. I've just completely given it
- 49:17Speaker 3: new life. I've put the new sting on it and everything.
- 49:20Speaker 3: So I think if from memory, the episode that's coming
- 49:24Speaker 3: out today at 7.30 with the full show podcast is
- 49:27Speaker 3: about Jason Hoyt being a bandit.
- 49:30Speaker 2: Okay.
- 49:30Speaker 3: He's a bandit of many kinds.
- 49:32Speaker 2: Yes.
- 49:33Speaker 3: And you can hear all about that in the disclaimer podcast.
- 49:36Speaker 3: I've called it On This Day in 2022. So that's
- 49:37Speaker 3: four years ago. Get around that. Plans for tonight. Bachelor night.
- 49:43Speaker 2: What am I going to do? I've got, I do
- 49:44Speaker 2: have some plans. I'm concerned my wife is listening to this.
- 49:47Speaker 2: And so, because she's away, she's away with my daughter.
- 49:51Speaker 2: And so I've got some things I'm doing around the
- 49:53Speaker 2: house that I don't need to flag for her. They are,
- 49:56Speaker 2: well look, she's just texted me. She's literally just texted me.
- 50:01Speaker 2: I've been lit up. So I'm going to leave it
- 50:02Speaker 2: for now. Okay. But tomorrow we'll get into a little
- 50:05Speaker 2: bit of Mogi's wife and child have left him chat.
- 50:08Speaker 2: And a bit of pugs in the jizz palace.
- 50:13Speaker 3: Yes, so tonight I will be in the jizz palace.
- 50:15Speaker 3: I'm there till Wednesday, so I've got to make the
- 50:17Speaker 3: most of it. This morning woke up with jizz all
- 50:19Speaker 3: over me. That's his cat. So looking forward to having
- 50:22Speaker 3: more jizz all over me tonight. She's a real sweetheart.
- 50:25Speaker 3: And I'm going to go home and have some alternative
- 50:29Speaker 3: nachos or loaded wedges, you might call it. But this
- 50:32Speaker 3: has been the Hauraki Big Show with Pugs and Mogi.
- 50:35Speaker 3: Stick around for the podcast out at 7.30. In the meantime,
- 50:38Speaker 3: we'll see you tomorrow morning from 4. Thanks so much
- 50:41Speaker 3: for listening. See you.
- 50:42Speaker 2: Bye now.
