- 0:41Speaker 1: I enjoy taking my girls lacrosse team that I coached
- 0:44Speaker 1: into your state and beating all of your teams. How
- 0:47Speaker 1: about that? How is that for an introduction, Taylor?
- 0:50Speaker 3: Underrated city, Baltimore.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Is it really?
- 0:52Speaker 3: Love their crab cakes.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Put it on the poll. Is Baltimore an underrated city?
- 0:57Speaker 1: I don't think Baltimore is an underrated city. I think
- 1:00Speaker 1: it's just a benign city no one really thinks about.
- 1:02Speaker 1: I love Baltimore. Welcome, Baltimore. I say this loving Baltimore,
- 1:08Speaker 1: loving Fox Sports 1370 AM in Baltimore. Welcome to the program.
- 1:14Speaker 1: I'm sorry I've insulted you three times on your way
- 1:18Speaker 1: into the show. Taylor, let's start here with Jackson Dart
- 1:21Speaker 1: before we get to Charles McDonald. I cannot believe that
- 1:25Speaker 1: you're still interested in talking about Jackson Dart. He is
- 1:28Speaker 1: now out for the year. But I do think there
- 1:30Speaker 1: is an interesting question for both the Giants and the
- 1:33Speaker 1: Commanders to kind of ponder. And that's what do you
- 1:37Speaker 1: do with Jackson Dart and Jaden Daniels, both guys who
- 1:41Speaker 1: have been injured, both guys who have showed a ton
- 1:44Speaker 1: of promise, especially Jaden Daniels in his rookie year taking
- 1:47Speaker 1: that team. to an NFC championship game. But what do
- 1:51Speaker 1: you do because they're injury prone, because there are so
- 1:54Speaker 1: many great quarterbacks coming out in this year's NFL draft?
- 1:58Speaker 4: What are those two.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Teams going to do in terms of do you keep
- 2:02Speaker 1: Jackson Dart? Do you ride it out with Jackson Dart?
- 2:05Speaker 1: Do you draft a young quarterback? What do you do
- 2:07Speaker 1: if you're the commanders? I do find that part of
- 2:09Speaker 1: this pretty fascinating.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Yeah, there's more optimism in Washington with the fact that
- 2:14Speaker 3: you would expect Jaden Daniels to come back at some
- 2:16Speaker 3: point this season, where on the other end of that,
- 2:19Speaker 3: Jackson Dart is done for this season. And I think
- 2:21Speaker 3: Jaden Daniels has proven more in his time in the
- 2:24Speaker 3: NFL than somebody like Jackson Dart, where this felt like
- 2:26Speaker 3: such a big year for Jackson Dart when Harbaugh gets
- 2:29Speaker 3: to New York to prove whether or not he's the
- 2:31Speaker 3: franchise quarterback. And that's why when it comes to Jackson Dart,
- 2:35Speaker 3: I think the conversation is much bigger than whether the
- 2:38Speaker 3: Giants can survive this season or not with Jameis Winston.
- 2:41Speaker 4: Sure.
- 2:41Speaker 3: Because now with Dart, you're having to ask yourself whether
- 2:46Speaker 3: or not he's your franchise quarterback going forward, whether or
- 2:49Speaker 3: not you could count on him to be healthy moving forward.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Well, have you seen enough from Jackson Dart where if
- 2:54Speaker 1: you're John Harbaugh, you are convinced that's my quarterback, that's
- 2:57Speaker 1: my guy? Because keep in mind, so when John took
- 3:00Speaker 1: that job– Yes, of course. The Giants, an organization, a
- 3:04Speaker 1: pillar organization, although they haven't been good in a decade.
- 3:07Speaker 1: One of the main reasons that he took that job
- 3:11Speaker 1: was because he thought he had a young quarterback and
- 3:13Speaker 1: would have that quarterback for the next 10 or 15 years.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Jackson Dart is probably reason number one as to why
- 3:20Speaker 1: John Harbaugh took that job.
- 3:21Speaker 3: Yeah, the problem that I'm running into with Jackson Dart
- 3:24Speaker 3: is availability has to matter, whether you're deciding whether or
- 3:28Speaker 3: not you could build the next five years of your
- 3:30Speaker 3: franchise around somebody. And it doesn't really mean that Dart
- 3:33Speaker 3: can't be the guy. It just means that the Giants
- 3:35Speaker 3: can't assume the question has already been answered. And with
- 3:39Speaker 3: somebody like Dart and with the landscape of the NFL.
- 3:42Speaker 3: maximizing what you do with your quarterback in their rookie
- 3:45Speaker 3: window sure is so crucial before you even get to
- 3:48Speaker 3: that second contract and now you're you're losing another year
- 3:52Speaker 3: there to where the injury is so damaging but beyond
- 3:56Speaker 3: this season because you're potentially entering next season where you
- 3:59Speaker 3: need to answer three questions is dart healthy for next
- 4:02Speaker 3: season right is dart good enough for next season well
- 4:05Speaker 3: that's it can dart stay healthy for next season yes.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Can he ever stay healthy for a full season You
- 4:10Speaker 1: can ask those same questions about Jaden Daniels, although he
- 4:12Speaker 1: did stay healthy for his rookie season. And we saw
- 4:15Speaker 1: how that went. And you're right. I've seen enough from
- 4:19Speaker 1: Jaden Daniels where I am willing to put up with
- 4:22Speaker 1: some of the injury stuff and ride him out as
- 4:24Speaker 1: my young. I've seen enough with Jackson Dart. I am
- 4:27Speaker 1: not certain that anyone has seen enough to convince themselves that,
- 4:32Speaker 1: you know what? We don't need a backup plan here
- 4:34Speaker 1: at quarterback. We don't need a young backup plan here
- 4:37Speaker 1: at quarterback.
- 4:37Speaker 3: And where it could get really interesting is if I
- 4:39Speaker 3: tell you next season the Giants are picking in the
- 4:42Speaker 3: top five and you start to enter that Mensah from
- 4:46Speaker 3: Miami conversation, Dante Moore, Trinidad Chambliss is rising up draft boards,
- 4:52Speaker 3: Arch Manning. Are you getting into the conversations now of
- 4:56Speaker 3: the Giants would entertain one of those names at quarterback?
- 4:59Speaker 3: Or are you strengthening around Dart with somebody like Jeremiah
- 5:03Speaker 3: Smith from Ohio State where if you really thought Jackson
- 5:06Speaker 3: Dart was your franchise quarterback, you're racing to hand that
- 5:10Speaker 3: card in to get him that number one receiver. And
- 5:12Speaker 3: then all of a sudden Malik Neighbors is probably the
- 5:15Speaker 3: best wide receiver too in the NFL.
- 5:16Speaker 1: There is just no way. I don't care. I mean,
- 5:19Speaker 1: there is no way you have watched Jackson Dart and
- 5:22Speaker 1: you're able to convince yourself that Jackson Dart is going
- 5:25Speaker 1: to be able to stay healthy and is going to
- 5:28Speaker 1: be a long-term. And I hate saying this. Because I
- 5:30Speaker 1: love Jackson Dart. And I love his style of play.
- 5:34Speaker 1: And I love his leadership. And I think he could
- 5:36Speaker 1: be a great quarterback. But the injuries are something. And
- 5:39Speaker 1: before the knee, it was the head. And now it's
- 5:42Speaker 1: a knee combined with all the head injuries. And you
- 5:44Speaker 1: just can't convince yourself. I don't think you can if
- 5:47Speaker 1: you're John Harbaugh to not take a quarterback, a rookie quarterback,
- 5:50Speaker 1: in what is being called the greatest draft for quarterbacks
- 5:54Speaker 1: in the history of the NFL. You have to take one.
- 5:56Speaker 1: You just do. You cannot be sold on. on Jackson
- 5:59Speaker 1: Dart long-term.
- 6:00Speaker 4: You can't.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Especially because Jackson Dart's whole thing is, is having that
- 6:05Speaker 3: escapability in the pocket where he didn't necessarily show that
- 6:07Speaker 3: when he was at Ole Miss with Lane Kiffin, but
- 6:10Speaker 3: ever since he's gotten to New York, he's made it
- 6:12Speaker 3: pretty clear. Like running is a big part of his game.
- 6:15Speaker 3: And now if you're having to restructure his knee, how
- 6:19Speaker 3: does he look Coming back to that, if that's an
- 6:22Speaker 3: element of his game that's kind of been taken away
- 6:25Speaker 3: and now you're relying on him to be more of
- 6:27Speaker 3: a pocket passer, that's not really Jackson Dart's whole thing.
- 6:30Speaker 1: You're taking away some of the stuff that makes him
- 6:33Speaker 1: special is being taken away, A, because of the knee, B,
- 6:36Speaker 1: because you really don't want him running. You know, like
- 6:38Speaker 1: you just don't. And so I'm even more confused now
- 6:41Speaker 1: than I was when we started this conversation. John Horbaugh
- 6:45Speaker 1: has to take a quarterback.
- 6:46Speaker 4: He does.
- 6:47Speaker 3: I am not envious of anybody in that Giants building
- 6:49Speaker 3: right now because Jackson Dart has been hurt for, you know,
- 6:54Speaker 3: it's it's been known that he's going to have season
- 6:57Speaker 3: ending surgery. for like less than six hours at this point.
- 7:01Speaker 3: And I have run through every possible alternative in my head,
- 7:05Speaker 3: every possible scenario for the Giants moving forward. And there
- 7:09Speaker 3: really isn't a great answer.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Well, Jameis, I'm not certain he's the answer. He certainly
- 7:13Speaker 1: wasn't the answer against the Rams. By the way, do
- 7:17Speaker 1: you think Jackson Dart was aware of the criticism that
- 7:19Speaker 1: Caleb Williams was getting for leaving his game and really
- 7:23Speaker 1: sold the fact that he might come back into the game.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Because my brother, who loves this stuff, he's texting me.
- 7:29Speaker 1: We had Jackson on our fantasy team, so we lost him.
- 7:31Speaker 1: But he's texting me, you got to love Jax. And
- 7:34Speaker 1: I'm like, who's Jax? And he's like, Jackson Dart. You
- 7:37Speaker 1: got to love him. He spelled it J-A-X. I said,
- 7:41Speaker 1: why do we have to love him? He goes, the
- 7:43Speaker 1: dude tore his ACL and wanted to play football still.
- 7:47Speaker 1: You got to love a guy like that. And I'm
- 7:49Speaker 1: responding to my brother. I think he did that just
- 7:51Speaker 1: to make Caleb Williams look bad.
- 7:54Speaker 3: So if you're, let's say you're the Bears and you're
- 7:57Speaker 3: the Giants right now.
- 7:58Speaker 4: Right.
- 7:59Speaker 3: Would you rather have a quarterback that's injured or a
- 8:01Speaker 3: quarterback that everybody is saying might be soft? Because yes,
- 8:07Speaker 3: you're normally going to take the generational quarterback talent in
- 8:11Speaker 3: Caleb Williams.
- 8:12Speaker 4: Right.
- 8:13Speaker 3: But I do think there is something there to Jackson
- 8:15Speaker 3: Dart where he– there's no way he was able to
- 8:19Speaker 3: avoid the narrative of everybody questioning Caleb Williams' toughness, the
- 8:24Speaker 3: people from the couches with their potato chips and their Coca-Cola,
- 8:28Speaker 3: questioning whether or not an NFL quarterback was justified, whether
- 8:32Speaker 3: or not– he probably felt like his hamstring was falling
- 8:35Speaker 3: off the bone.
- 8:35Speaker 4: Of course, yes.
- 8:36Speaker 3: And then all the tough guys on the internet are saying, oh,
- 8:38Speaker 3: this guy– Start acting a little tougher, Caleb Williams.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Put it on the poll. Would you rather have a
- 8:42Speaker 1: healthy Caleb Williams or an injured Jackson Dart? What a
- 8:48Speaker 1: ridiculous question to ask. So what do you think they're
- 8:53Speaker 1: going to do? If you're the Giants, you have to
- 8:55Speaker 1: go with the first. You have to take a quarterback
- 8:56Speaker 1: first round. It probably wasn't the plan when you started
- 9:00Speaker 1: the season. The plan was not for your quarterback to
- 9:02Speaker 1: go down with a season-ending injury where he needs surgery
- 9:06Speaker 1: and a guy who's already been injured.
- 9:07Speaker 4: In years past.
- 9:08Speaker 1: So I think if you're John Harbaugh, I think we've
- 9:10Speaker 1: talked ourselves into it. If we're John Harbaugh and Joe Shane,
- 9:13Speaker 1: you have to take a quarterback here in the first round.
- 9:15Speaker 4: You do. Yeah.
- 9:16Speaker 3: But then I started thinking about Jeremiah Smith in New York,
- 9:19Speaker 3: where if like Jackson darts knee, if, if Jackson darts knee,
- 9:22Speaker 3: where the ACL is still intact, but everything else is torn.
- 9:25Speaker 3: If they could fix that and Jackson dart could come
- 9:28Speaker 3: back and be 90 to 95% of the quarterback that,
- 9:32Speaker 3: that everybody kind of expects him to be.
- 9:34Speaker 4: Yes.
- 9:35Speaker 3: He does trend more towards being that franchise quarterback level
- 9:41Speaker 3: of performance, where if now you're telling me you'd have
- 9:44Speaker 3: that version of Jackson Dart and you're pairing him with
- 9:46Speaker 3: somebody like Jeremiah Smith, all of a sudden I could
- 9:49Speaker 3: talk myself into that scenario, too.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Who would be most upset if the Giants did indeed
- 9:53Speaker 1: draft a quarterback next season? Would it be Cam Scadaboo?
- 9:57Speaker 3: Yeah. Those two have hit it. each other's wagon to
- 10:01Speaker 3: each other.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Like if they handed Cam Scadaboo the card to go
- 10:05Speaker 1: up to Goodell to read it at the draft, he
- 10:07Speaker 1: refuses to say the quarterback's name.
- 10:10Speaker 3: The part that I'm so confused, like they were talking
- 10:13Speaker 3: to Cam Scadaboo after the game and he was like, yeah,
- 10:15Speaker 3: Jackson Dart would have played back in that game and
- 10:18Speaker 3: You're hearing Joe Shane saying, like, we think we have
- 10:20Speaker 3: avoided a major catastrophe.
- 10:23Speaker 4: In the injury.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Yes, right.
- 10:25Speaker 3: What happened in the communication of this injury that everybody
- 10:29Speaker 3: was so confident? The Twitter doctors are so confident that
- 10:31Speaker 3: there's no structural damage to Jackson Dart. The initial reports
- 10:35Speaker 3: felt like everything was intact to say maybe four to
- 10:38Speaker 3: six week injury. And now worst case scenario, he's out
- 10:42Speaker 3: for the season.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Is there a chance that Joe Shane, the Giants, they
- 10:46Speaker 1: were watching it the way we were watching it and
- 10:48Speaker 1: he's walking around and it doesn't appear to be that
- 10:50Speaker 1: bad of a limp and he's shaking hands and he's
- 10:52Speaker 1: on the sidelines and he's being a leader. And they're like, yeah,
- 10:54Speaker 1: he's fine.
- 10:56Speaker 3: It's crazy what adrenaline could do.
- 10:58Speaker 1: They're like, oh, he looks fine to us.
- 11:01Speaker 3: He had so much adrenaline, he was like, I think
- 11:03Speaker 3: I could go back in this game. It sounded like
- 11:04Speaker 3: they had to drag the uniform off his body.
- 11:06Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. He knew he couldn't go back.
- 11:09Speaker 1: This is how you play it if you're Jackson Dart.
- 11:11Speaker 1: He knew very well he was not going back into
- 11:14Speaker 1: that game. But he also was very well aware of
- 11:17Speaker 1: what Caleb Williams did the day before. And so what
- 11:20Speaker 1: did Jackson Dart do? He gave the appearance, he said
- 11:23Speaker 1: the things he needed to say, and all the reports
- 11:26Speaker 1: came out that Jackson Dart still wanted to play even
- 11:30Speaker 1: while being that injured. It's a great move because that's
- 11:32Speaker 1: why my brother texts me, you got to love Jax.
- 11:38Speaker 1: My brother has never texted me anything about any Giant
- 11:41Speaker 1: quarterback or anything Giants related in the 53 years. I
- 11:46Speaker 1: forgot how old I was. In the 53 years that
- 11:49Speaker 1: I've been alive, he has never texted me anything about
- 11:51Speaker 1: a Giant, the New York Giants, any Giant, Andre the Giant.
- 11:56Speaker 1: He has never texted me anything about it. But what
- 11:59Speaker 1: do I get last night?
- 12:00Speaker 4: Gotta love Jacks. That's a great move.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Godson Company
- 12:05Speaker 2: live weekdays at 3 p.m. Eastern, 12 p.m. Pacific on
- 12:10Speaker 2: Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
- 12:14Speaker 1: It is Thursday and we like to think on a Thursday.
- 12:18Speaker 1: So give me the imaging because it's a think about
- 12:20Speaker 1: it Thursday.
- 12:23Speaker 2: You know that segment, Talk About It Tuesday on Hockman, Crowder,
- 12:27Speaker 2: and Solero?
- 12:28Speaker 1: This is like that, but bigger and better.
- 12:32Speaker 2: And 48 hours later, this is Think About It Thursday.
- 12:40Speaker 1: This is Taylor's attempt to counter-program a local showdown here
- 12:43Speaker 1: in South Florida, Hockman, Solero, and Crowder. What do you
- 12:47Speaker 1: have for us today, Taylor? You laugh every time I
- 12:49Speaker 1: say Solero. Yeah, Solana. I do it purposely.
- 12:55Speaker 3: So this one is in honor of Joe Buck's massive
- 13:00Speaker 3: contract extension at ESPN.
- 13:02Speaker 4: Wow.
- 13:02Speaker 3: Six years, $ 108 million contract extension. Joe Buck, friend of
- 13:06Speaker 3: the show. It would be nice if we could get
- 13:08Speaker 3: a couple of M's, maybe.
- 13:09Speaker 4: Yes.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Are they paying him for past performance or future?
- 13:12Speaker 3: All future. And nobody is better than Joe Buck.
- 13:15Speaker 4: Oh, nobody.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Kidding me?
- 13:16Speaker 4: Except Sean McDonough.
- 13:17Speaker 3: But that actually brings us to the Think About It Thursday,
- 13:21Speaker 3: because I saw a post on FanDuel.
- 13:22Speaker 4: Yep, Stu? Let me take that back. Push. McDonough, Joe Buck.
- 13:26Speaker 4: There are two favorites. Thank you.
- 13:27Speaker 1: And Mike Breen. And Kenny Albert.
- 13:30Speaker 4: Stu.
- 13:32Speaker 3: FanDuel puts up a post.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Yes.
- 13:34Speaker 3: Save two announcers. The rest are gone forever. They have.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
- 13:43Speaker 3: They have nine announcers in this graphic. So we're going
- 13:46Speaker 3: to go around the room here. I'm going to read
- 13:47Speaker 3: the announcers.
- 13:48Speaker 4: Time out. Just slow down for a second, okay?
- 13:50Speaker 1: Because this has been a topic I've been waiting for
- 13:52Speaker 1: my entire life.
- 13:53Speaker 4: Okay?
- 13:54Speaker 1: So just... Can you set it up again just quick?
- 13:56Speaker 1: I need to hear it again.
- 13:58Speaker 3: There was a post on social media from FanDuel.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Yes.
- 14:01Speaker 3: Save two announcers... The rest are gone forever.
- 14:05Speaker 4: Okay.
- 14:05Speaker 1: So two announcers who are going to call all the
- 14:07Speaker 1: games for the remainder of time.
- 14:09Speaker 4: Yep. Okay.
- 14:10Speaker 3: And not calling the games together, but maybe if you're
- 14:12Speaker 3: watching a basketball game, you're like, I want this guy
- 14:14Speaker 3: to call this. If you're watching a football game. Somebody
- 14:16Speaker 3: else will call this. Or maybe you just want to
- 14:18Speaker 3: alternate weeks so you don't get tired of the same person.
- 14:20Speaker 4: So it's only play-by-play guys.
- 14:22Speaker 1: It's not analysts?
- 14:23Speaker 3: It's only play-by-play guys.
- 14:24Speaker 4: All right, so we get two. Okay. Wow.
- 14:26Speaker 3: The nine names.
- 14:27Speaker 4: I hate this so much.
- 14:28Speaker 1: I got to write them down.
- 14:29Speaker 4: So do I.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Right. We're going to have to leave someone off that
- 14:32Speaker 1: we like.
- 14:32Speaker 4: Damn it.
- 14:33Speaker 5: Go.
- 14:33Speaker 6: You're going to have to read seven off that you like.
- 14:37Speaker 3: The nine names listed, everybody.
- 14:39Speaker 5: Okay.
- 14:40Speaker 4: I'm writing them down.
- 14:41Speaker 3: Mike Breen.
- 14:42Speaker 4: Breen. Jeez.
- 14:43Speaker 7: He's great.
- 14:45Speaker 3: Mike Tirico. Hello, friends.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Jim Nance. Oh, God.
- 14:53Speaker 4: This is tough. I want to keep those three.
- 14:58Speaker 3: And you can only save two.
- 14:59Speaker 1: I don't want to just have two. The next three. Yes.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Kevin Harlan.
- 15:04Speaker 4: Harlan. Wow.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Jason Bonetti.
- 15:07Speaker 8: Jesus.
- 15:09Speaker 3: Al Michaels.
- 15:12Speaker 6: Do I get Al Michaels how he is now, or
- 15:14Speaker 6: do I get Al Michaels of all time?
- 15:16Speaker 1: He is definitely getting paid for past performance.
- 15:19Speaker 6: I will tell you right now, I love Al Michaels.
- 15:22Speaker 6: I think he is one of the best to ever
- 15:24Speaker 6: do it. But if I'm paying going forward, sorry, Al.
- 15:27Speaker 3: Past performance Hall of Fame.
- 15:29Speaker 1: I've already crossed him off, yes. Past performance Hall of Fame,
- 15:32Speaker 1: him and Vlad Guerrero.
- 15:34Speaker 3: The next three names to complete the nine.
- 15:37Speaker 4: Okay.
- 15:38Speaker 3: Gus Johnson.
- 15:39Speaker 4: Wow. Oh, wow.
- 15:41Speaker 3: Iron Eagle.
- 15:42Speaker 4: Ooh.
- 15:43Speaker 3: The bird and then joe buck.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Oh my gosh i'm gonna go wow this is tricky
- 15:52Speaker 1: because mike breen i mean i'm certain all these guys
- 15:55Speaker 1: can call any sport and do it very very well
- 15:57Speaker 1: but he's a he's a basketball guy um i'm just
- 16:00Speaker 1: thinking about the guys who can call multiple sports and
- 16:03Speaker 1: do it very very well i'm not saying mike breen
- 16:05Speaker 1: can't i just haven't heard him do it you know
- 16:08Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 16:09Speaker 6: Give me Mike Breen on an NFL Sunday, and I'm
- 16:11Speaker 6: sure it will be amazing.
- 16:13Speaker 4: Yes. Bang!
- 16:17Speaker 1: Man, I need Nance. So I have to keep... How
- 16:19Speaker 1: many do we keep?
- 16:20Speaker 4: Just two? Save two.
- 16:21Speaker 3: The rest are gone forever.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Save two, cut seven, huh? I need Nance because there
- 16:27Speaker 1: is no way... Listen, you guys know my favorite weekend
- 16:30Speaker 1: of the year.
- 16:31Speaker 4: It is Augusta.
- 16:32Speaker 1: It's the Masters. And there is only one person that
- 16:34Speaker 1: should be calling that event, and that person is Jim
- 16:37Speaker 1: Nance +. He's good at college basketball. He's great at football.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Jim Nance is certainly one of the guys I'm keeping.
- 16:43Speaker 4: That's one.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Do you have one yet, Mike?
- 16:49Speaker 6: I'm going to go the ESPN route.
- 16:52Speaker 4: I'm going to keep the Swiss Army knife. I'm going
- 16:54Speaker 4: to keep Joe Buck. Wow. You've done it. Not on there, huh?
- 16:58Speaker 3: No, I didn't make this grab.
- 16:59Speaker 4: Disrespect.
- 17:01Speaker 3: So I think he was already gone forever.
- 17:05Speaker 4: What are you thinking here, Taylor?
- 17:07Speaker 3: I have my first keep or my first save.
- 17:10Speaker 4: I like this first save.
- 17:12Speaker 3: Yes. As a Knicks fan, I live and die with
- 17:15Speaker 3: the Knicks. And I'm living and dying with Mike Breen.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Were there names you guys crossed off?
- 17:21Speaker 4: The Fordham guy.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Mikey, were there names you crossed off as Taylor was
- 17:25Speaker 1: reading the.
- 17:26Speaker 4: List to you? Because I did it without Michaels.
- 17:29Speaker 1: I did it. And I say this respectfully. I did
- 17:31Speaker 1: it with Benetti just because of the other names. And
- 17:34Speaker 1: I did it with Mike Tirico.
- 17:39Speaker 6: Uh yeah i crossed off probably i'm i'm i've got
- 17:44Speaker 6: one guy i've got one spot for three guys is
- 17:46Speaker 6: how i'm how i'm at right.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Now okay uh let's go out to sherman oaks because
- 17:51Speaker 1: we have uh piqued the curiosity of one iowa sam
- 17:54Speaker 1: and ep jason uh iowa sam what do you have.
- 17:56Speaker 3: For us so out of those nine i am keeping
- 18:00Speaker 3: jim nance and iron eagle.
- 18:02Speaker 4: Wow got right to it the bird Thank you. Feel
- 18:11Speaker 4: good about that one.
- 18:12Speaker 1: I know you do. Uh, EP Jason, what do you got?
- 18:17Speaker 5: Guys? I, before Taylor even read the list, I, I
- 18:20Speaker 5: wrote down Bob Costas and I said, I will pair
- 18:23Speaker 5: one of the nine with Costas. So what an interesting
- 18:26Speaker 5: omission again.
- 18:28Speaker 1: He's like 90.
- 18:29Speaker 5: Uh, I understand the list now.
- 18:32Speaker 4: Um, but I'm a big Costas guy. Love Costas. Okay.
- 18:35Speaker 5: Um, I love Kevin Harlan. If I'm going to sit
- 18:38Speaker 5: down to watch a game, Kevin Harlan, I'm going to
- 18:41Speaker 5: ride every single time. And I just kind of owe
- 18:45Speaker 5: it to my generation to include Al Michaels on this list.
- 18:49Speaker 5: Give me Kevin Harlan and Al Michaels.
- 18:53Speaker 4: You don't owe it to your generation.
- 18:57Speaker 1: Your generation will be just fine. Ricardo, what do you
- 19:02Speaker 1: have for us?
- 19:03Speaker 3: I'm going to go.
- 19:03Speaker 4: I an Eagle. Yeah, for sure. Right.
- 19:06Speaker 6: And even as a heat fan, I'm going to go
- 19:08Speaker 6: Mike Breen because he had that famous call with Ray
- 19:10Speaker 6: Allen hitting the shot in game six.
- 19:12Speaker 4: Wow. No baseball. Perfect bang. Yes.
- 19:14Speaker 1: I thought for sure you would have Thunder in with
- 19:16Speaker 1: a Marlin play by play guy on the list. He's
- 19:21Speaker 1: on your list though.
- 19:22Speaker 4: Oh yeah.
- 19:23Speaker 3: Can I give a hot take here?
- 19:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:26Speaker 3: If these are my two announcers for the rest of
- 19:28Speaker 3: my life.
- 19:29Speaker 4: Yes.
- 19:30Speaker 3: Gus johnson is a little bit too much for me he's.
- 19:33Speaker 6: Great though he is great no he is so great
- 19:36Speaker 6: so good so great.
- 19:37Speaker 3: And he and he rises to the moment every time
- 19:39Speaker 3: when you need a big moment yeah but i feel
- 19:42Speaker 3: like if i was going to the gus johnson well
- 19:45Speaker 3: every time i was watching a sports game like i
- 19:47Speaker 3: the only thing i do in my life is watch
- 19:48Speaker 3: sports right i could not have gus johnson calling every.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Game respect put it on the poll is watching sports
- 19:56Speaker 1: the only thing you do with your life.
- 19:59Speaker 4: I'm with you.
- 20:02Speaker 3: So i do need a second name so yeah.
- 20:04Speaker 1: We all do me you and mikey we all need
- 20:05Speaker 1: a second name I have.
- 20:07Speaker 4: Changed my mind three times since I made my first pick.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Seven for me.
- 20:12Speaker 4: Yeah. No, I was sure. Like I was like, nope,
- 20:15Speaker 4: that's the name. I'm going with that one. Well, wait
- 20:17Speaker 4: a minute.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Nope.
- 20:19Speaker 4: I'm going with that one. I've done it three times.
- 20:21Speaker 4: All right.
- 20:22Speaker 3: So my final spot, it comes down to three names here.
- 20:27Speaker 3: It comes down to, to pair with Mike Breen. It
- 20:29Speaker 3: comes down to Jim Nance, Joe Buck, and Ian Eagle.
- 20:36Speaker 3: And I think for versatility, he could do baseball, and
- 20:41Speaker 3: we know he could do football. I'm going with Joe Buck.
- 20:46Speaker 4: That's what I did. Yeah.
- 20:49Speaker 1: I agree with EP Jason. I think Kevin Harlan is
- 20:52Speaker 1: the most underrated play-by-play guy in the history of the business.
- 20:55Speaker 4: I'm serious. He is so good. Yes. He is.
- 20:59Speaker 1: I mean, but doesn't get enough credit for being as
- 21:02Speaker 1: good as he actually is.
- 21:04Speaker 4: Football, basketball, doesn't matter.
- 21:06Speaker 1: He's amazing. I'm going to go Kevin Harlan as well.
- 21:09Speaker 1: So I have Nance and Harlan. I'm going to change
- 21:13Speaker 1: my mind a thousand times. I'm going to be thinking
- 21:16Speaker 1: about this while we're talking to Bruce Feldman.
- 21:19Speaker 3: I know I'm going to get a text at like
- 21:20Speaker 3: 10 p.m. tonight that Stugac just says, you know what?
- 21:24Speaker 3: Maybe Tirico.
- 21:27Speaker 1: It depends who gets mad at me. Oh, I left
- 21:32Speaker 1: Buck off the list.
- 21:33Speaker 5: You might get a text from me after watching the
- 21:36Speaker 5: Amazon game and saying, maybe not Al Michaels.
- 21:39Speaker 4: Yeah, again, again. EP, Jason, let me tell you something.
- 21:43Speaker 1: You don't need to watch tonight's game to say to everyone, maybe.
- 21:47Speaker 4: Not Al Michaels. Respectfully.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Spoiler alert. He's mailing it in.
- 21:52Speaker 4: If I told you you're getting these guys at their peak,
- 21:55Speaker 4: Al Michaels is on the list.
- 21:56Speaker 1: Oh, no doubt.
- 21:58Speaker 4: No doubt. Yes. You need a second, Mikey. No. Well,
- 22:02Speaker 4: you got to ask me because once you ask me,
- 22:04Speaker 4: I have to make a decision.
- 22:06Speaker 1: I am right now. You're the only one who hasn't
- 22:08Speaker 1: selected a second broadcaster.
- 22:11Speaker 4: Iron Eagle. It's Iron Eagle. Right now it's Iron Eagle.
- 22:14Speaker 8: Burnt.
- 22:15Speaker 4: Again. I'm proud of you.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Gatz and
- 22:23Speaker 2: Company live weekdays at 3 p.m. Eastern, 12 p.m.
- 22:27Speaker 4: Pacific. We like Will Stein.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Let's plan a trip to Kentucky because we don't have
- 22:33Speaker 1: enough trips to plan for the remainder of the.
- 22:35Speaker 4: College football season.
- 22:37Speaker 5: One.
- 22:37Speaker 4: Just do one. Just do one.
- 22:40Speaker 1: I said I'd go to Memphis. I forget the other
- 22:43Speaker 1: place we committed to. Somewhere in Texas or Oklahoma. Where
- 22:46Speaker 1: are we going?
- 22:47Speaker 4: Oklahoma State.
- 22:48Speaker 3: Still water.
- 22:50Speaker 4: Go Pokes.
- 22:51Speaker 3: Yes.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Find a Thursday Kentucky game we can go to so
- 22:54Speaker 1: we don't miss the rest of the college football weekend.
- 22:56Speaker 1: We like to play.
- 22:57Speaker 4: You don't play on Thursdays.
- 22:59Speaker 1: We like to play a game around here. If the
- 23:01Speaker 1: season ended today, Mikey A is the host of this game.
- 23:05Speaker 4: We will get to it in a second.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Mikey A, do you remember why and how we started
- 23:09Speaker 1: if the season ended today? I have no idea. I
- 23:11Speaker 1: can't remember.
- 23:13Speaker 4: Uh two words billy gill.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Oh that's right because he always liked to discuss if
- 23:18Speaker 1: the season ended today what the playoff matchups would be
- 23:21Speaker 1: so uh with that being said let's get to it mikey.
- 23:25Speaker 6: Okay i'm gonna start this week in the nfc right
- 23:28Speaker 6: the nfc if the season ended today the minnesota vikings.
- 23:32Speaker 4: Are the number one seed wow wow they get.
- 23:34Speaker 1: A bye wow if the season ended today would kevin
- 23:37Speaker 1: o'connell be coach of the year.
- 23:40Speaker 4: Possibly.
- 23:40Speaker 1: I mean, a one seed with Carson Wentz?
- 23:46Speaker 4: If the season ended today, of course.
- 23:47Speaker 6: Well, if the season ended today, your first playoff matchup
- 23:52Speaker 6: in the NFC would be the Chicago Bears led by
- 23:54Speaker 6: Tyson Bajan.
- 23:56Speaker 4: Against the Seattle Seahawks.
- 24:02Speaker 1: If it were a playoff game, he'd be healthy enough
- 24:04Speaker 1: to play.
- 24:04Speaker 4: Come on.
- 24:07Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 24:08Speaker 4: He might have stepped on a Lego.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Stop that.
- 24:11Speaker 3: Bajan versus Drew Locke sounds like my worst nightmare of
- 24:14Speaker 3: the game.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Wait, give me the matchup again.
- 24:17Speaker 4: Chicago versus Seattle. Bajan versus Drew Locke. Oh, my God.
- 24:22Speaker 1: But that's only if the season ended today. I got
- 24:24Speaker 1: to tell you, that's a playoff game I wouldn't watch
- 24:26Speaker 1: just because of the quarterbacks.
- 24:29Speaker 4: Yes, you would.
- 24:29Speaker 1: How about this?
- 24:31Speaker 4: Your second matchup.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Yeah, we need to discuss who would win that game, though.
- 24:34Speaker 1: I mean....
- 24:36Speaker 4: Who wins between Tyson Bajan and Drew Locke?
- 24:40Speaker 3: We all lose.
- 24:41Speaker 4: Next game.
- 24:44Speaker 6: The Detroit Lions at the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 24:48Speaker 1: What a great game. Welcome back to the playoffs, Detroit Lions.
- 24:52Speaker 4: That's a great game. That might be your Sunday nighter.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Yes, it might be. Wow, what a great game that
- 24:59Speaker 1: would be. I would take the Eagles to win that.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts is on a mission this year to prove.
- 25:03Speaker 4: That he doesn't need A.J. Brown or anyone else. Taylor? Taylor?
- 25:09Speaker 4: Eagles too. He forgot how to play. I also take
- 25:13Speaker 4: the Eagles, but it's got nothing to do with him.
- 25:15Speaker 4: Your last matchup in the NFC, right?
- 25:17Speaker 6: Would be the San Francisco 49ers traveling cross country to
- 25:22Speaker 6: take on the NFC South winning Carolina.
- 25:26Speaker 4: Wow. What a game. Wow. Yes.
- 25:28Speaker 3: Christian McCaffrey returns to Carolina.
- 25:30Speaker 4: Yes.
- 25:31Speaker 1: Revenge game.
- 25:34Speaker 4: Waiting.
- 25:34Speaker 1: So in this scenario, if the season ends today, the
- 25:36Speaker 1: Rams are not making the playoffs, right?
- 25:38Speaker 4: Rams didn't make the playoffs.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Wow.
- 25:40Speaker 4: I mean, there's a lot of tiebreakers in there as
- 25:43Speaker 4: to why, but we don't get it. So it was
- 25:44Speaker 4: the field. It was the field.
- 25:50Speaker 1: I would take Carolina just because I love Carolina.
- 25:52Speaker 4: They're entertaining.
- 25:53Speaker 1: And I want to see Carolina go to a Superbowl.
- 25:55Speaker 1: i do i really do.
- 25:56Speaker 3: Caroline in the upset yep wow i've got i've got
- 25:59Speaker 3: the 49ers the 49ers right now are my dark horse
- 26:01Speaker 3: superbowl right are they considered a dark horse.
- 26:03Speaker 1: No well i think before the season started yeah before
- 26:07Speaker 1: the season started they were a dark horse just based
- 26:09Speaker 1: on the division they were in with seattle with the
- 26:11Speaker 1: rams uh but now no longer a dark horse they
- 26:14Speaker 1: had beaten the rams.
- 26:15Speaker 3: Yeah and it feels like they almost have too much
- 26:17Speaker 3: talent and too many big names to be considered a
- 26:20Speaker 3: dark horse like You have Christian McCaffrey, Brock Purdy, George Kittle.
- 26:24Speaker 3: Like you're not really a dark horse.
- 26:26Speaker 4: Debo. Yes. Debo's back.
- 26:30Speaker 1: But if Carolina gets past that game, just based on
- 26:32Speaker 1: the injuries to the cornerbacks, they have a shot.
- 26:34Speaker 4: They do. Just want to throw.
- 26:38Speaker 1: That in there.
- 26:39Speaker 3: What?
- 26:40Speaker 4: The Super Bowl? Yeah, why not?
- 26:42Speaker 1: The NFC.
- 26:43Speaker 4: The NFC.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Special agent Drew Locke.
- 26:46Speaker 4: I mean, they have a chance. Carson Wentz.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Yeah, Carson Wentz. What a terrible NFC playoff. Oh, my God.
- 26:52Speaker 1: I haven't even gotten to the AFC yet.
- 26:56Speaker 3: If we are at Radio Row this Super Bowl.
- 26:58Speaker 4: Yes.
- 26:59Speaker 3: And the Carolina Panthers are in the Super Bowl. Yep.
- 27:02Speaker 3: You guys have my word. I will do the entire
- 27:04Speaker 3: week of shows in a full Panthers costume.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Let's see who they're going to play because I might
- 27:12Speaker 1: not go.
- 27:13Speaker 4: Okay. It's a trip to Los Angeles. You're going to go.
- 27:18Speaker 4: In the AFC, your number one seed. Surprise, surprise. The
- 27:21Speaker 4: Kansas City Chiefs. Welcome back. Now they're back. They're officially back.
- 27:25Speaker 5: Yes.
- 27:27Speaker 6: Your first matchup, the New York Jets.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
- 27:32Speaker 4: At the Buffalo Bills. All right. The Chiefs get the
- 27:37Speaker 4: bye week.
- 27:37Speaker 1: So it's Jets at Bills, divisional matchup. Josh Allen trying
- 27:43Speaker 1: to win that elusive Super Bowl ring.
- 27:45Speaker 4: Oh, wow.
- 27:49Speaker 3: And you would figure at this point that it's tough
- 27:51Speaker 3: to beat a team three times. You would almost assume
- 27:53Speaker 3: that the bills won the first two matchups. I've got
- 27:56Speaker 3: this spread at about minus 19 bills. Yeah.
- 27:58Speaker 1: And I would take the jets. I would take the
- 28:00Speaker 1: jets to win the game outright.
- 28:01Speaker 4: How about that? Yeah. I have the jets advancing. Give
- 28:07Speaker 4: me playoff.
- 28:08Speaker 6: Josh Allen and the jets advance.
- 28:10Speaker 4: Yeah. I would love that. God, the jets are making
- 28:13Speaker 4: your next matchup.
- 28:15Speaker 6: The new England Patriots at, the Cincinnati Bengals with that defense.
- 28:21Speaker 4: Wow. So Joe Brown gets in. He has a defense.
- 28:24Speaker 1: He has two great wide receivers.
- 28:25Speaker 4: The Patriots are the Patriots.
- 28:27Speaker 1: I would take Cincinnati in that game because the Patriots
- 28:30Speaker 1: are a good team, but they're boring. Cincinnati, good team, exciting.
- 28:34Speaker 1: Give me good team, exciting every single time.
- 28:38Speaker 3: So I would pick the Pats here, but this is
- 28:40Speaker 3: a matchup of two quarterbacks that have made it to
- 28:43Speaker 3: a Super Bowl that people are looking at them now
- 28:44Speaker 3: and saying, I might be the only time you make
- 28:46Speaker 3: it to.
- 28:47Speaker 4: A Super Bowl.
- 28:47Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 28:48Speaker 4: Or the three AFC East teams, by the way. Wow.
- 28:53Speaker 1: It was a lousy one headed into the season. But
- 28:55Speaker 1: if the season ended today, it might be the best
- 28:57Speaker 1: division of football.
- 28:58Speaker 4: There you go.
- 29:01Speaker 6: Last playoff matchup if the season ended today. The Las
- 29:05Speaker 6: Vegas Raiders are on the road.
- 29:07Speaker 1: Wow.
- 29:09Speaker 4: At the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 29:11Speaker 1: Wow.
- 29:12Speaker 4: So, Kirk Cousins.
- 29:14Speaker 1: Because if they make the playoffs, Kirk Cousins is going
- 29:17Speaker 1: to be the quarterback, correct?
- 29:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:21Speaker 1: I mean, it would stand to reason if they make
- 29:22Speaker 1: the playoffs.
- 29:23Speaker 4: Right. Well, if the season ended today, he is.
- 29:26Speaker 1: He is the starting quarterback.
- 29:27Speaker 4: You're right. I'm sorry, Mikey.
- 29:28Speaker 1: I got ahead of myself.
- 29:29Speaker 4: Yes. This matchup has.
- 29:31Speaker 3: Texans 4 p.m. on Saturday TJ Yates has the quarterback
- 29:35Speaker 3: window written all over.
- 29:37Speaker 4: It Yeah, no doubt. It has those kind of vibes.
- 29:39Speaker 4: You're right about that.
- 29:41Speaker 3: Just like trying to sneak it out, yeah.
- 29:43Speaker 2: Yes.
- 29:43Speaker 6: Quickly, speaking of the Houston Texans, if the season ended today,
- 29:47Speaker 6: they're on the clock.
- 29:48Speaker 4: Number one pick? Number one pick for Houston Texans.
- 29:52Speaker 1: Wow, you put Arch Manning with that defense. Listen, thankfully,
- 29:59Speaker 1: we have 15 more weeks of this crap. Show number
- 30:03Speaker 1: five today. And Israel Gutierrez is back from a long weekend.
- 30:10Speaker 1: How was it, Izzy? Very relaxing, Stu.
- 30:14Speaker 4: Very relaxing.
- 30:16Speaker 8: If I'm going to start a podcast called.
- 30:17Speaker 4: Where Izzy, I have to disappear for a while.
- 30:20Speaker 1: And so we missed you very much.
- 30:24Speaker 4: I missed you very much.
- 30:26Speaker 8: Thank you, man.
- 30:27Speaker 4: Yes.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Taylor and Mikey, they wanted to be here for radio.
- 30:32Speaker 1: I have told them that radio is no longer their responsibility,
- 30:36Speaker 1: that this is a burden I have to carry after
- 30:39Speaker 1: we do three or four shows every single day. And
- 30:42Speaker 1: I have told the audience that I, you know, crawl
- 30:44Speaker 1: through a river of podcasts just to get to them.
- 30:47Speaker 1: And I would appreciate it if they would call in
- 30:49Speaker 1: 877-99 on Fox and For the entire two hours, say
- 30:53Speaker 1: hello to Izzy. Say hi to me. Talk about whatever
- 30:55Speaker 1: the hell you want to talk about. I will stop
- 30:58Speaker 1: whatever it is I'm doing to take those phone calls. But, Izzy,
- 31:02Speaker 1: we did miss you. They wanted to be here for
- 31:04Speaker 1: the entire show today, and I thought that was a
- 31:06Speaker 1: nice touch.
- 31:07Speaker 8: You guys are the best, but I have a question
- 31:09Speaker 8: for Dan Beyer. Dan, are you there?
- 31:11Speaker 4: Yeah, you can't see him, though. His computer's not working.
- 31:13Speaker 8: I am here, Izzy.
- 31:13Speaker 4: Nothing's changed, by the way.
- 31:15Speaker 1: I mean, you're back from a long weekend, but everything's
- 31:17Speaker 1: the same. That's the same sandwich that was sitting there
- 31:19Speaker 1: the last time you were here.
- 31:20Speaker 8: Well, the smell is definitely the same.
- 31:24Speaker 7: I don't know if I just noticed this or what,
- 31:27Speaker 7: but Dan, you say your name at the end of
- 31:30Speaker 7: the update. Is that just a you thing? Is that
- 31:33Speaker 7: a Fox thing? Or is that an every update person thing?
- 31:36Speaker 7: Because I seem to remember other update people saying their
- 31:39Speaker 7: name at the beginning of the update.
- 31:40Speaker 1: No, that has never happened.
- 31:42Speaker 4: It's always at the end.
- 31:43Speaker 8: Interesting.
- 31:44Speaker 4: Yes, because we have a.
- 31:45Speaker 7: Nugget that I've never paid attention to. But I guess
- 31:47Speaker 7: after being away for a long weekend, it's just something
- 31:50Speaker 7: that popped in my head.
- 31:51Speaker 8: Thank you for that, Dan.
- 31:53Speaker 9: It's good to see your midseason form criticizing me again.
- 31:56Speaker 9: That's something that never changed. It's not a critique.
- 31:59Speaker 4: Taking shots.
- 32:02Speaker 1: Dan Byer not happy that Izzy is back.
- 32:04Speaker 7: I spent my entire time away stewing because I have
- 32:08Speaker 7: never really won the Mount Rushmore Monday.
- 32:11Speaker 1: Do you want to do a Mount Rushmore today? Try
- 32:13Speaker 1: to redeem yourself?
- 32:14Speaker 8: No, not if Dan's here, no.
- 32:15Speaker 5: Why?
- 32:16Speaker 4: Because you know you won't win?
- 32:17Speaker 1: Of course.
- 32:17Speaker 4: Yeah, tell her.
- 32:18Speaker 3: Do not give Stu Gatz any idea what the name
- 32:21Speaker 3: stewing right now, because we are in podcast creation mode.
- 32:25Speaker 3: I don't need another podcast called stewing.
- 32:28Speaker 1: I'm thinking about it. You read my mind.
- 32:31Speaker 9: All right, guys, my results are in. We didn't do
- 32:33Speaker 9: a Mount Rushmore, but Izzy is in fourth right now.
- 32:36Speaker 4: Get out of here. Mute him. Mikey A.
- 32:41Speaker 1: how happy are you to see Izzy? I haven't seen
- 32:43Speaker 1: his smile all day, and you're smiling now. All right.
- 32:46Speaker 6: Well, that's mostly because I hate you right now, but
- 32:49Speaker 6: after five shows, it's good that we have Izzy here
- 32:52Speaker 6: with all the trainers he goes to. He's going to
- 32:53Speaker 6: have to do a lot.
- 32:54Speaker 4: Of heavy lifting.
- 32:54Speaker 6: You're going to have to do a lot of heavy
- 32:56Speaker 6: lifting on this show today.
- 32:57Speaker 8: I've been doing chest three days a week.
- 32:59Speaker 4: Yes.
- 33:00Speaker 1: Izzy, the platform is yours today, so I don't know
- 33:04Speaker 1: where you want to start and what you want to
- 33:06Speaker 1: talk about and what takes you've been sitting on. I
- 33:10Speaker 1: know you went to the University of Florida. They have
- 33:13Speaker 1: a big game against Mississippi.
- 33:14Speaker 4: They do.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Yes, but again, we will start wherever you want to start.
- 33:18Speaker 1: I feel like asking you about every basketball transaction that's
- 33:21Speaker 1: happened since the last time you were in here.
- 33:24Speaker 4: But where would you like to start?
- 33:25Speaker 7: Well, before I get to what I want to talk about,
- 33:27Speaker 7: does anybody want to talk about that Thursday night football
- 33:30Speaker 7: game yesterday?
- 33:30Speaker 8: Is Michael Penix Jr. anything worth noting, or should we
- 33:34Speaker 8: just move on?
- 33:36Speaker 1: I think he's definitely worth noting. The Falcons look like
- 33:39Speaker 1: a different team. They look like a good team. We
- 33:41Speaker 1: were making the joke that there are guys who are
- 33:43Speaker 1: starting in the NFL right now that would quit their
- 33:45Speaker 1: current situation just to be in that situation.
- 33:48Speaker 4: Quarterbacks. Yeah.
- 33:49Speaker 1: So Penix looked good. He was good enough. They're talented
- 33:52Speaker 1: enough on offense where if they just have a competent quarterback,
- 33:56Speaker 1: and that's what he was last night, and hopefully he'll
- 33:58Speaker 1: get better. But if they have that, then that offense
- 34:01Speaker 1: is going to be very, very good.
- 34:02Speaker 4: Don't you agree?
- 34:03Speaker 7: I mean, I've said this for a long time. Well,
- 34:05Speaker 7: for as long as they've had these guys. But Drake London, B.
- 34:07Speaker 7: John Robinson, those guys. are so good, as long as
- 34:10Speaker 7: you give your quarterback a seemingly competent quarterback, any sort
- 34:13Speaker 7: of protection, you should be able to have one of
- 34:15Speaker 7: the better.
- 34:16Speaker 8: Offenses in the league. That said, I didn't watch much
- 34:18Speaker 8: of it.
- 34:20Speaker 7: I think it was at 10-7 where my internet was
- 34:23Speaker 7: busted yesterday and I was watching TV off of how
- 34:27Speaker 7: you use your phone for a hotspot or whatever. And
- 34:30Speaker 7: it was just not that fluid, so I just decided
- 34:32Speaker 7: to watch something else. But when I saw the final
- 34:34Speaker 7: score after my Wi-Fi came back on, I was shocked.
- 34:36Speaker 4: Yes.
- 34:37Speaker 7: And I just don't understand Jordan Love, LeFleur, and that
- 34:40Speaker 7: whole Packers team. I thought they were supposed to be good.
- 34:42Speaker 4: Yes.
- 34:43Speaker 1: LeFleur is overrated. Jordan Love is probably overrated. I'm tired
- 34:46Speaker 1: of hearing about them headed into every single season, and
- 34:49Speaker 1: yet they do that last night. Like, enough of LeFleur.
- 34:53Speaker 1: And enough of Jordan Love. It's just that Packer team
- 34:56Speaker 1: is not very good. And for LeFleur to be so
- 34:58Speaker 1: confused and can't figure out as to what happened last night,
- 35:02Speaker 1: that's not what you want to hear from.
- 35:03Speaker 4: Your head coach after the game. Yeah, Mikey.
- 35:06Speaker 6: I'm just saying we were, if the jets could pick
- 35:08Speaker 6: up a fourth and one, the Packers are Owen three.
- 35:11Speaker 4: Like that's the story.
- 35:13Speaker 6: John Robinson is the fireworks, but the story Packers are
- 35:17Speaker 6: really freaking bad.
- 35:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:19Speaker 1: But I have gotten over that jet loss until I
- 35:21Speaker 1: watched the game last night. Did you have the same reaction?
- 35:24Speaker 4: Exactly. I was like, no, now this look, now this
- 35:26Speaker 4: makes me feel worse.
- 35:27Speaker 8: You guys should absolutely be two.
- 35:29Speaker 4: I know.
- 35:29Speaker 7: I don't understand how they lost that game. I flipped
- 35:32Speaker 7: that game and all of a sudden they're in overtime
- 35:34Speaker 7: and they're losing that one. I do have one more
- 35:36Speaker 7: NFL note before I get to everything that I really
- 35:39Speaker 7: want to talk about. I just want to plant my
- 35:41Speaker 7: flag here. Everybody's down on Justin Herbert, right? That's kind
- 35:44Speaker 7: of the going... you know, opinion. Taylor's kind of the president.
- 35:49Speaker 3: We are leading the charge.
- 35:50Speaker 1: I would say everyone, but Phil Sims who joined us
- 35:53Speaker 1: on one of the five shows we did today. And
- 35:55Speaker 1: he loves Justin Herbert.
- 35:57Speaker 3: Is he Stugat said he wouldn't be surprised if Madison
- 36:00Speaker 3: beer called off the engagement.
- 36:02Speaker 1: I didn't say that.
- 36:04Speaker 3: You didn't observations.
- 36:06Speaker 4: They're yours.
- 36:07Speaker 7: I don't know who to put this on, whether it's
- 36:10Speaker 7: Mike McDaniel, whether it's just as offensive line or.
- 36:13Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 36:14Speaker 7: Just the fact that they don't have the right skill
- 36:16Speaker 7: position players. But I'm telling you, he has not lost it.
- 36:21Speaker 7: Some people might say he never had it, but he
- 36:22Speaker 7: has not lost it. I still think he is actually very,
- 36:25Speaker 7: very good. And I mean, I don't know who it was,
- 36:29Speaker 7: but somebody went through all of his skill position players drops.
- 36:32Speaker 7: You know, you have that one famous one where somebody
- 36:34Speaker 7: came and defended his own receivers play and not that
- 36:37Speaker 7: one down. And it was just there are so many
- 36:39Speaker 7: things going wrong with that team right now, it feels like.
- 36:42Speaker 7: that they're all just taking it out on Justin Herbert,
- 36:44Speaker 7: I still have faith in that man.
- 36:46Speaker 1: Phil Simms said that, you know, if you lined up
- 36:49Speaker 1: all the quarterbacks, essentially, many teams would have Justin Herbert.
- 36:54Speaker 4: Like, they would die to have him, right?
- 36:56Speaker 1: He would be in their top five quarterbacks that they
- 36:58Speaker 1: would want to be the quarterback.
- 36:59Speaker 4: Of their team.
- 37:00Speaker 1: But you have to win at some point, don't you? Like,
- 37:02Speaker 1: if you're that talented, I understand the talent. We all
- 37:04Speaker 1: see it. We can all see it in spurts. But
- 37:06Speaker 1: eventually you have to be a guy that's going to
- 37:08Speaker 1: help your team win, right? Yeah, agreed.
- 37:10Speaker 7: And I think, you know, at some point, Everything has
- 37:13Speaker 7: got to come together for him for that to happen.
- 37:15Speaker 7: And normally you've got these great, great quarterbacks that can
- 37:18Speaker 7: lift their teams through anything. I'm just saying it feels
- 37:20Speaker 7: like things internally are working against Justin Herbert, at least
- 37:24Speaker 7: so far this season.
- 37:25Speaker 3: One of the quarterbacks you wouldn't take or you would
- 37:27Speaker 3: take over Justin Herbert, Stu, Josh Allen, who the Chargers
- 37:31Speaker 3: play this week. So it's not getting any easier for
- 37:34Speaker 3: the Chargers.
- 37:34Speaker 4: Right.
- 37:35Speaker 1: A must win game. And you have to face Josh Allen,
- 37:37Speaker 1: who's 2-0 and playing better. Than any quarterback in the
- 37:40Speaker 1: NFL right now.
- 37:41Speaker 8: It's a matchup of quarterbacks with celebrity.
- 37:43Speaker 4: Wives, right? Yes.
- 37:45Speaker 1: But Justin Herbert's, you know, his should leave him.
- 37:51Speaker 4: That was Taylor. I didn't say that.
- 37:52Speaker 1: I'm just telling you what Taylor told me to say.
- 37:55Speaker 3: And just to be clear, I think no disrespect to
- 37:59Speaker 3: Madison Beer. Haley Steinfeld's in a league of her own
- 38:03Speaker 3: in terms of celebrity.
- 38:04Speaker 4: Oh, okay. You did the whole no disrespect.
- 38:07Speaker 1: No disrespect, but I'm going to disrespect you in two seconds.
- 38:09Speaker 3: Madison Beer, probably like a B minus celebrity.
- 38:13Speaker 8: What is she known for?
- 38:16Speaker 5: Hmm.
- 38:16Speaker 1: Good question.
- 38:18Speaker 4: So maybe a C-. Put it on the poll, Taylor.
- 38:21Speaker 1: Do you know what Madison Beer is known for?
- 38:24Speaker 3: Can you ask what somebody's famous for, and then there'd
- 38:27Speaker 3: be a four-second pause where nobody has an answer?
- 38:31Speaker 4: So you're definitely right on that.
- 38:33Speaker 7: Josh Salad has the more famous wife.
- 38:35Speaker 8: All right. So I'm going to stick to the NFL
- 38:37Speaker 8: here because I'm curious.
- 38:39Speaker 1: I mean, look at this guy. He comes back from
- 38:41Speaker 1: a long weekend. All of a sudden he wants to
- 38:42Speaker 1: talk a little football. We're good.
- 38:43Speaker 8: It's been multiple weeks of football since I left.
- 38:47Speaker 7: And one of the things that has just been kind
- 38:49Speaker 7: of painful for me is I've actually watched these Dolphins games.
- 38:53Speaker 7: And it's just awful. And I'm not even going to
- 38:56Speaker 7: talk about what they're doing this year. But I'm wondering
- 38:59Speaker 7: if Dolphins fans are nervous about the fact that they're tanking.
- 39:05Speaker 1: For a quarterback.
- 39:06Speaker 5: Right.
- 39:06Speaker 7: I mean, you know, some people would say, Jim, maybe
- 39:08Speaker 7: Jeremiah Smith. Nobody's tanking for a wide receiver. So it's
- 39:10Speaker 7: got to be a quarterback, right?
- 39:11Speaker 4: Yes.
- 39:11Speaker 8: Because are they going to get it right? Are they
- 39:16Speaker 8: going to get it right? Is it, Mikey, help me
- 39:17Speaker 8: out here. Is it Arch Manning above all?
- 39:20Speaker 7: Because I don't really see that, especially after, you know,
- 39:23Speaker 7: last season and the first part of this season.
- 39:25Speaker 4: Right.
- 39:26Speaker 7: Is it, you know, Moore and Dante Moore and Orr?
- 39:30Speaker 7: Cause I don't love him as a franchise changer. Is
- 39:34Speaker 7: it Ole Miss quarterback, Trinidad Chambliss?
- 39:38Speaker 4: Right.
- 39:38Speaker 7: Because he is probably the best, I don't know, total package,
- 39:42Speaker 7: dual threat type of guy, but I see a lot
- 39:44Speaker 7: of flaws in his game and who knows exactly how
- 39:47Speaker 7: he's going to translate.
- 39:48Speaker 8: In fact- hang on, I'm going to need his name
- 39:50Speaker 8: for a second. Is it Taylor, Camario Taylor?
- 39:53Speaker 4: Camario Taylor, yeah.
- 39:53Speaker 8: Camario Taylor at Mississippi State.
- 39:55Speaker 1: Future Kane, yeah.
- 39:55Speaker 8: But he's not draft eligible this year.
- 39:58Speaker 7: So it just makes you wonder, like, Are the Dolphins
- 40:01Speaker 7: going to tank and just bomb with this quarterback pick?
- 40:05Speaker 7: Is it going to be another situation where it's just like, great,
- 40:08Speaker 7: we were terrible for.
- 40:09Speaker 8: Another year, and we've got nothing out of it?
- 40:11Speaker 7: Because Arch Manning is probably where your fingers are crossed saying, okay,
- 40:15Speaker 7: he is the guy who will most likely turn out
- 40:17Speaker 7: just based on his last name and the odds of the.
- 40:20Speaker 8: Other Mannings that have been in the NFL?
- 40:21Speaker 4: Yes.
- 40:22Speaker 8: But, man, that is certainly not a sure thing.
- 40:24Speaker 7: It's not like tanking in the NBA for LeBron James
- 40:27Speaker 7: or Tim Duncan.
- 40:28Speaker 8: Like, this is a huge question mark.
- 40:30Speaker 4: Agreed.
- 40:31Speaker 6: Arch Manning is a really good quarterback. He's a really,
- 40:34Speaker 6: really good quarterback, but he's number one status is based
- 40:37Speaker 6: on the name on the back of his Jersey. So
- 40:40Speaker 6: if you were to take Trinidad Chambliss and you have
- 40:42Speaker 6: him take his Jersey off, you put Arch Manning's Jersey
- 40:44Speaker 6: on Trinidad.
- 40:45Speaker 4: Chambliss is going first. That's what's going to happen.
- 40:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:49Speaker 7: I mean, I don't, again, I don't, I don't know
- 40:50Speaker 7: what it is about Dante more that I don't love.
- 40:52Speaker 7: Maybe it's just his frame. Maybe it's just the fact
- 40:56Speaker 7: that he hasn't won the bigger games.
- 40:58Speaker 8: I'm not sure.
- 40:59Speaker 7: I'm not convinced that any Oregon quarterback really, but yeah,
- 41:02Speaker 7: it's just, it makes me very, very nervous and I'll,
- 41:05Speaker 7: I'll live with Arch Manning just for the excitement of it.
- 41:09Speaker 8: It's like, hey, we got a Manning.
- 41:10Speaker 4: The name, yes.
- 41:12Speaker 7: But I'll be absolutely terrified if he goes on to have,
- 41:16Speaker 7: I don't know, a three-loss season, gets hit a bunch
- 41:18Speaker 7: like he did last week against an inferior opponent, and
- 41:21Speaker 7: then comes into the league with all these expectations.
- 41:23Speaker 8: Man, I just don't know.
- 41:25Speaker 3: Izzy, you mentioned a bunch of quarterbacks that the Dolphins
- 41:28Speaker 3: could target in the draft. One quarterback you didn't mention.
- 41:32Speaker 3: What if I told you if you wanted a quarterback
- 41:35Speaker 3: on the Miami Dolphins, you might not even have to
- 41:37Speaker 3: leave the 305 because right in Hard Rock Stadium, the
- 41:42Speaker 3: Miami Hurricanes, Darian Mensah has gone from Tulane to Duke
- 41:47Speaker 3: to Miami, and every year he looks like a better
- 41:51Speaker 3: and better quarterback.
- 41:52Speaker 1: Yeah, but I think to Izzy's point, you have no
- 41:54Speaker 1: idea if it's going to translate to the NFL, and
- 41:56Speaker 1: this is the year the Dolphins have decided to tank,
- 41:58Speaker 1: and they're doing it the right way. They're not even
- 42:00Speaker 1: trying to win games. It doesn't feel like. And so
- 42:03Speaker 1: they might have one win. They might have two. They
- 42:04Speaker 1: might have no wins. Who knows? But Izzy doesn't feel
- 42:07Speaker 1: like there's a quarterback that's such a surefire thing that
- 42:10Speaker 1: this is the right season to tank.
- 42:11Speaker 9: You know?
- 42:12Speaker 4: Izzy, you... you watch all these dolphins games. So let
- 42:16Speaker 4: me ask you the question is Malik.
- 42:18Speaker 1: Well, that's the problem.
- 42:19Speaker 4: Like, are you going to get a quarterback and all
- 42:21Speaker 4: of a sudden you're like, Oh, we're good now.
- 42:23Speaker 6: Or is that just a really bad team with a
- 42:26Speaker 6: quarterback who we have no idea how good he can
- 42:28Speaker 6: be because that team, I.
- 42:29Speaker 1: Feel like Malik is doing exactly what they signed them
- 42:32Speaker 1: for losing football games. He's the MVP.
- 42:34Speaker 4: I don't love Malik Willis.
- 42:36Speaker 8: Like he's okay. He doesn't make great decisions.
- 42:38Speaker 7: He's not like extremely athletic or, you know, great out
- 42:42Speaker 7: of the pocket. I think he probably thinks he's better
- 42:44Speaker 7: because sometimes he makes some choices to roll out where
- 42:47Speaker 7: I'm just like, no, no, this play's over.
- 42:49Speaker 4: What are you doing?
- 42:50Speaker 7: But Darian Mensah was on my list. And that's just
- 42:52Speaker 7: one of those where is the hometown team really going
- 42:55Speaker 7: to do that? Like, are they going to this whole,
- 42:57Speaker 7: you know, restructuring of the, of the front office of
- 43:00Speaker 7: the coaching staff and, you know, being terrible for a
- 43:03Speaker 7: full year and, just to fall in love with the
- 43:05Speaker 7: local guy where the rest of the country is going
- 43:07Speaker 7: to be like, ha these idiots.
- 43:09Speaker 1: Is he earlier?
- 43:10Speaker 3: I was trying to make the point that the dolphins
- 43:12Speaker 3: might be getting the camp Cameron season where if Jeff
- 43:15Speaker 3: Halfley goes on 17, Stu gots was making the argument
- 43:18Speaker 3: that Jeff Halfley is trying to go.
- 43:20Speaker 4: Oh, and 17.
- 43:21Speaker 3: Coach of the year. If he does it, yes. And
- 43:25Speaker 3: I get that this is a rebuild project for the
- 43:27Speaker 3: Miami dolphins, but I don't know how you can convince
- 43:30Speaker 3: a fan base. You have the right coach. If he
- 43:33Speaker 3: can't even stumble into a win and he goes 0-17.
- 43:37Speaker 8: I don't think I got to tell you guys this.
- 43:38Speaker 7: I was still here when practices were starting, but this
- 43:43Speaker 7: is when I recognized that I don't know if I
- 43:45Speaker 7: like the head coach either because literally the first day
- 43:49Speaker 7: of practice, and I don't know which starter it was
- 43:51Speaker 7: because the person who told me this wouldn't tell me
- 43:53Speaker 7: which starter it was, but there was a projected starter
- 43:56Speaker 7: on the team that got hurt the first day of practice.
- 43:58Speaker 7: Nothing long-term, nothing serious. but got hurt the first day
- 44:01Speaker 7: of practice while they were practicing field goal blocks. What
- 44:06Speaker 7: are you doing on the first day of practice using
- 44:09Speaker 7: your projected starters to attempt to block field goals, which
- 44:13Speaker 7: happens how often?
- 44:14Speaker 8: I mean, I know it happened last night, I think,
- 44:15Speaker 8: but how often?
- 44:16Speaker 4: Yeah, it's ridiculous.
- 44:17Speaker 1: What you're trying to do is go 0-17.
- 44:18Speaker 7: Apparently, you're trying to get your whole starting lineup injured.
- 44:23Speaker 1: All right, listeners, listen to me. I don't want to
- 44:25Speaker 1: yell at you. I am telling you, we have done
- 44:27Speaker 1: three shows, four shows already. OK, God bless football, college
- 44:30Speaker 1: football with Stugatz and Baer. I think with Stugatz and Hawks,
